Amen. 00:01:54.81\00:01:56.14 To your left Sister Shelley Quinn, 00:01:56.18\00:01:57.65 the New Covenant queen. 00:01:57.68\00:01:59.18 I love this study. Amen. 00:01:59.21\00:02:01.85 To your left, Pastor Johnny Dinzey. 00:02:01.88\00:02:03.82 So glad to have you here. 00:02:03.85\00:02:05.19 It's a blessing and a privilege to be here. 00:02:05.22\00:02:06.72 Amen. 00:02:06.76\00:02:08.09 Last but not least, sitting at the end, 00:02:08.12\00:02:10.53 Pastor John Lomacang, 00:02:10.56\00:02:12.03 and just delighted to have you here too. 00:02:12.06\00:02:13.83 Amen. We've been blessed so far. 00:02:13.86\00:02:15.33 And I think the Lord will bless us again today. 00:02:15.36\00:02:17.20 Amen. 00:02:17.23\00:02:18.57 Pastor John, would you pray for us 00:02:18.60\00:02:19.93 as we open up today? 00:02:19.97\00:02:22.10 Gracious Father, loving Lord, we thank You for the privilege 00:02:22.14\00:02:24.44 and opportunity to open a book that is far deeper than we are, 00:02:24.47\00:02:29.24 and we do pray that You will cause us 00:02:29.28\00:02:31.55 to ride upon the understanding that You impart to us even now. 00:02:31.58\00:02:36.32 Send Your Holy Spirit to expand our thoughts 00:02:36.35\00:02:38.45 and to open the doors where You desire to enter. 00:02:38.49\00:02:43.22 And may this lesson bring light and understanding 00:02:43.26\00:02:46.26 and a willing heart to embrace Your truth. 00:02:46.29\00:02:49.33 We pray in Jesus' name. 00:02:49.36\00:02:51.57 Amen. Amen. 00:02:51.60\00:02:53.54 The lesson opened up with a story of a gentleman 00:02:53.57\00:02:56.87 who was walking and it was a dark night 00:02:56.91\00:02:59.04 and it was really hard to see. 00:02:59.07\00:03:00.68 And he caught sight of another man over here. 00:03:00.71\00:03:04.08 And he called out, "Hey, are you Frank the printer?" 00:03:04.11\00:03:07.28 And the man turned around and said, 00:03:07.32\00:03:08.75 "Yes, I am Frank, and I am a printer. 00:03:08.78\00:03:10.95 But how do you know 00:03:10.99\00:03:12.32 who I am because I've never met you before? 00:03:12.35\00:03:14.56 And the man said, "I don't know you. 00:03:14.59\00:03:16.93 I've never met you. 00:03:16.96\00:03:18.29 But I know your brother very well. 00:03:18.33\00:03:20.83 I know his way of walking. 00:03:20.86\00:03:23.03 I know what he looks like. 00:03:23.06\00:03:24.40 I know what his mannerisms are. 00:03:24.43\00:03:25.93 And you reminded me so much of your brother 00:03:25.97\00:03:28.90 that I knew, 00:03:28.94\00:03:30.27 this must be Frank the printer." 00:03:30.31\00:03:32.87 It reminds me of the purpose of the Old Covenant 00:03:32.91\00:03:37.28 with the sanctuary service, 00:03:37.31\00:03:38.88 that type that meant its antitype in Christ Jesus. 00:03:38.91\00:03:42.72 We see the symbols, 00:03:42.75\00:03:44.09 they were a shadow of things to come. 00:03:44.12\00:03:47.49 But if you know and understand that, 00:03:47.52\00:03:50.03 then you see Jesus as the ultimate fulfillment. 00:03:50.06\00:03:53.90 Our memory text is Hebrews. 00:03:53.93\00:03:55.50 Hebrews 9:15. 00:03:55.53\00:03:56.87 I think this week, 00:03:56.90\00:03:58.23 we're going to spend quite a bit of time in Hebrews. 00:03:58.27\00:03:59.93 Hebrews 9:15 is our memory text. 00:03:59.97\00:04:02.67 "For this reason, 00:04:02.70\00:04:04.04 He is the Mediator of a new covenant, 00:04:04.07\00:04:07.98 or a renewed covenant, by means of death, 00:04:08.01\00:04:11.48 for the redemption of the transgressions 00:04:11.51\00:04:13.48 under the first covenant, 00:04:13.52\00:04:16.05 that those who are called may receive 00:04:16.08\00:04:17.72 the promise of the eternal inheritance." 00:04:17.75\00:04:21.02 Jesus' death ratified the Old Covenant, 00:04:21.06\00:04:24.33 the Old Covenant, the sanctuary system 00:04:24.36\00:04:26.90 was in type and the symbols 00:04:26.93\00:04:29.36 and the shedding of blood of the animals 00:04:29.40\00:04:32.60 was looking forward by faith to Jesus, 00:04:32.63\00:04:37.01 the Lamb of God. 00:04:37.04\00:04:39.21 Without shedding a blood 00:04:39.24\00:04:40.58 we know in Hebrews 9:22, there is no remission of sins. 00:04:40.61\00:04:44.55 Jesus' death also inaugurated the New Covenant. 00:04:44.58\00:04:49.15 His death fulfilled the claims of the law. 00:04:49.18\00:04:51.82 His death offered forgiveness and salvation to all. 00:04:51.85\00:04:55.96 We know in Hebrews 9-12 00:04:55.99\00:04:57.36 it's not with the blood of goats and calves, 00:04:57.39\00:04:59.69 but with His own blood, 00:04:59.73\00:05:01.80 He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, 00:05:01.83\00:05:05.03 having obtained eternal redemption. 00:05:05.07\00:05:08.70 And Christ Jesus is the guarantor, 00:05:08.74\00:05:11.17 He is the surety of this better covenant. 00:05:11.21\00:05:14.14 We see that in Hebrews 7:22. 00:05:14.18\00:05:16.75 So let's look at Sunday Sunday's lesson, 00:05:16.78\00:05:19.38 which is just called Relationships. 00:05:19.41\00:05:23.39 If we look at the relationship 00:05:23.42\00:05:25.95 between relationship of the covenant, 00:05:25.99\00:05:28.42 we've studied that all quarter 00:05:28.46\00:05:29.99 that it is like a parent and a child, 00:05:30.03\00:05:32.49 or a husband and a wife relationship. 00:05:32.53\00:05:35.66 Relationship is crucial to the covenant, 00:05:35.70\00:05:37.73 whether it's Old Covenant or New Covenant. 00:05:37.77\00:05:40.34 And whatever time or context that covenant was put forward, 00:05:40.37\00:05:44.81 relationship is always integral and central to the covenant. 00:05:44.84\00:05:50.38 You know, if I were to ask you, what do relationships require? 00:05:50.41\00:05:54.05 You might say any number of things. 00:05:54.08\00:05:55.62 There's certain website 00:05:55.65\00:05:56.99 I found mentioned seven key things 00:05:57.02\00:05:58.89 that relationships require. 00:05:58.92\00:06:00.69 I don't know, 00:06:00.72\00:06:02.06 there's a whole list of things you could say. 00:06:02.09\00:06:03.66 But I think it really boils down 00:06:03.69\00:06:05.26 to many of these boils down to communication. 00:06:05.29\00:06:08.23 This one website with the seven things 00:06:08.26\00:06:09.86 they said relationships required trust, 00:06:09.90\00:06:12.23 that's definitely true. 00:06:12.27\00:06:13.60 But trust is built partly by communication. 00:06:13.64\00:06:17.57 Relationships require vulnerability. 00:06:17.61\00:06:20.14 But vulnerability is partly built through communication. 00:06:20.18\00:06:25.01 Relationships require communication clearly, 00:06:25.05\00:06:27.38 and there's verbal and nonverbal clues 00:06:27.42\00:06:30.02 that we might give to each other. 00:06:30.05\00:06:31.89 Relationships require honesty. 00:06:31.92\00:06:35.02 And to be honest, that requires communication. 00:06:35.06\00:06:38.23 Relationships require loyalty and respect and affection. 00:06:38.26\00:06:42.13 But all of those things have some basis with communication. 00:06:42.16\00:06:46.13 What was the purpose of the Old Covenant sanctuary 00:06:46.17\00:06:50.41 or the sanctuary system in the Old Testament? 00:06:50.44\00:06:53.68 Now there's many purposes. 00:06:53.71\00:06:55.28 And I know as we go through the lesson, 00:06:55.31\00:06:57.15 people will be addressing some of that 00:06:57.18\00:06:58.78 the sanctuary service. 00:06:58.81\00:07:00.25 But I want to look at Exodus 25:8 00:07:00.28\00:07:02.58 for the purpose of our lesson today. 00:07:02.62\00:07:04.45 Exodus 25:8, "And let them make Me a sanctuary." 00:07:04.49\00:07:08.56 Why, what's the purpose? 00:07:08.59\00:07:10.06 "That I may dwell among them." 00:07:10.09\00:07:13.90 The word dwell in Hebrew, shâkan 00:07:13.93\00:07:16.33 just means to settle down, to abide, to dwell. 00:07:16.36\00:07:20.44 Jesus said, God said, I want to dwell, 00:07:20.47\00:07:24.87 I want to set up residence. 00:07:24.91\00:07:26.24 I want to settle down in a tent. 00:07:26.27\00:07:28.21 I want to tabernacle with the children of Israel. 00:07:28.24\00:07:32.55 You see, God has always desired a connection with us. 00:07:32.58\00:07:36.28 He's always desired to reside with us, 00:07:36.32\00:07:38.69 to dwell with us. 00:07:38.72\00:07:41.22 I think about Adam and Eve in the garden, 00:07:41.26\00:07:43.06 Genesis 3:8, they walked with God 00:07:43.09\00:07:45.36 in the cool of the day. 00:07:45.39\00:07:47.76 I think of Exodus 29:46. 00:07:47.80\00:07:50.53 If we think of this word dwell in connection with God 00:07:50.57\00:07:53.34 and His people. 00:07:53.37\00:07:54.70 Exodus 29:46, "They shall know that 00:07:54.74\00:07:56.91 I am the Lord their God, 00:07:56.94\00:07:58.41 who brought them out of the land of Egypt, 00:07:58.44\00:08:00.24 that I might dwell among them." 00:08:00.28\00:08:03.45 God wanted to settle down 00:08:03.48\00:08:05.45 and take up residence with His people. 00:08:05.48\00:08:08.15 We see the same thing in 1 Kings 6:13, 00:08:08.18\00:08:10.85 "I would dwell among the sons of Israel, 00:08:10.89\00:08:14.62 and will not forsake My people Israel." 00:08:14.66\00:08:17.59 The same thing in Zechariah 2:10, 00:08:17.63\00:08:20.20 "Sing for joy and be glad, O, daughter of Zion! 00:08:20.23\00:08:23.06 I am coming and I will dwell in your midst says the Lord." 00:08:23.10\00:08:28.90 All of those words are the same, 00:08:28.94\00:08:30.47 shakan, meaning to dwell, 00:08:30.51\00:08:32.57 to settle down, set up residence. 00:08:32.61\00:08:35.91 We see God wants to do 00:08:35.94\00:08:37.28 the same thing in the New Testament. 00:08:37.31\00:08:38.78 John 1:14, "And the Word 00:08:38.81\00:08:40.48 became flesh and dwelt among us, 00:08:40.52\00:08:44.15 and we beheld His glory 00:08:44.19\00:08:45.52 as of the only begotten of the Father, 00:08:45.55\00:08:46.99 full of grace and truth." 00:08:47.02\00:08:49.82 We see in the Old Covenant, God dwells with His people 00:08:49.86\00:08:52.69 through the sanctuary, by the presence of God 00:08:52.73\00:08:55.90 and the pillar of cloud. 00:08:55.93\00:08:57.87 We see in the New Covenant in the New Testament 00:08:57.90\00:09:01.14 when the covenant's renewed, 00:09:01.17\00:09:02.60 God dwells with His people in person 00:09:02.64\00:09:04.61 for a time being through the form of Jesus. 00:09:04.64\00:09:08.38 Then after Jesus ascended to His Father, 00:09:08.41\00:09:11.85 God dwells with us 00:09:11.88\00:09:13.21 through the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:09:13.25\00:09:15.32 We see that in 2 Corinthians 6. 00:09:15.35\00:09:17.65 Let's turn there, 2 Corinthians 6:16, 00:09:17.69\00:09:21.92 "And what agreement 00:09:21.96\00:09:23.29 has the temple of God with idols? 00:09:23.32\00:09:25.06 For you are the temple of the living God. 00:09:25.09\00:09:28.96 As God has said: 'I will dwell in them.'" 00:09:29.00\00:09:32.43 Now this is not just dwelling with them, 00:09:32.47\00:09:34.44 like he wanted with the Old Covenant 00:09:34.47\00:09:36.14 or the Old Testament. 00:09:36.17\00:09:37.64 He says, I will dwell in them, and walk among them, 00:09:37.67\00:09:41.04 I will be their God and they shall be My people. 00:09:41.08\00:09:44.38 Now I love that word temple in the Greek, its naos, 00:09:44.41\00:09:47.68 and it indicates a sacred dwelling place. 00:09:47.72\00:09:50.99 The classical Greek it referred to as sanctuary 00:09:51.02\00:09:53.92 or an inner sanctuary of a temple 00:09:53.96\00:09:56.42 where a pagan god would dwell. 00:09:56.46\00:09:58.43 So God uses the same word. 00:09:58.46\00:10:00.00 And He says, you, me, 00:10:00.03\00:10:02.43 God wants to set up residence in us 00:10:02.46\00:10:05.93 through the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:10:05.97\00:10:09.14 I love that analogy. 00:10:09.17\00:10:11.87 So in my closing time, 00:10:11.91\00:10:14.14 I want to give you three keys to the indwelling 00:10:14.18\00:10:17.55 of the Holy Spirit in our lives. 00:10:17.58\00:10:20.18 Key number one is to choose your master. 00:10:20.22\00:10:22.78 Let's look at Romans. 00:10:22.82\00:10:24.15 Romans 6:16," Do you not know that 00:10:24.19\00:10:28.66 to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, 00:10:28.69\00:10:32.09 you are that one's slaves whom you obey, 00:10:32.13\00:10:35.53 whether of sin leading to death, 00:10:35.56\00:10:37.00 or of obedience leading to righteousness?" 00:10:37.03\00:10:39.73 That just means every morning we say, 00:10:39.77\00:10:41.44 who do we want to serve? 00:10:41.47\00:10:42.80 Who do we want to obey? 00:10:42.84\00:10:44.47 Will it be leading to sin? 00:10:44.51\00:10:46.68 Or is it going to be leading to righteousness? 00:10:46.71\00:10:48.78 It depends on who dwells in us. 00:10:48.81\00:10:51.08 It depends on who sets up residence within us. 00:10:51.11\00:10:54.72 So look at this, if we look at Romans 7:17, 00:10:54.75\00:10:58.09 jump over one chapter of Romans 7:17, 00:10:58.12\00:11:01.02 "But now it is no longer 00:11:01.06\00:11:02.39 I who do it, but sin that dwells in me." 00:11:02.42\00:11:06.63 Did you catch that? 00:11:06.66\00:11:08.00 Sin is taken up residence, 00:11:08.03\00:11:09.36 and it's not even me doing the works. 00:11:09.40\00:11:11.57 It's because sin dwells in me. 00:11:11.60\00:11:13.67 And that is because I chose sin as my master, 00:11:13.70\00:11:16.60 I chose Satan as my master. 00:11:16.64\00:11:18.27 Or maybe I didn't choose God. 00:11:18.31\00:11:21.61 So by default, it switched to Satan's way. 00:11:21.64\00:11:25.61 But if you contrast that with Galatians 2:20, 00:11:25.65\00:11:28.75 "I've been crucified with Christ, 00:11:28.78\00:11:30.29 but it's not I who live, but Christ who lives in me." 00:11:30.32\00:11:34.32 So the first way when sin dwells in us, 00:11:34.36\00:11:36.56 it's not me doing the sinful actions, 00:11:36.59\00:11:38.49 it's because sin dwells in me. 00:11:38.53\00:11:40.60 But you contrast it, 00:11:40.63\00:11:41.96 it's not me doing the righteous, holy actions is 00:11:42.00\00:11:44.33 because Christ lives in me. 00:11:44.37\00:11:47.17 So the difference is, make a choice. 00:11:47.20\00:11:49.77 Choose your master, who will you serve? 00:11:49.80\00:11:52.21 The second key to the indwelling 00:11:52.24\00:11:54.18 of the Holy Spirit is to abide in him. 00:11:54.21\00:11:58.25 Turn to John Chapter 15. 00:11:58.28\00:12:01.28 I love this passage, John Chapter 15:5, 00:12:01.32\00:12:06.25 because the first key is just we need to choose 00:12:06.29\00:12:09.22 who we're going to follow. 00:12:09.26\00:12:10.59 We need to choose God, I want you in my heart, 00:12:10.63\00:12:12.96 I want you to dwell, but then we can choose. 00:12:12.99\00:12:16.30 And then we can go our own way, and we can push them out. 00:12:16.33\00:12:18.73 I don't know about you, 00:12:18.77\00:12:20.10 but I have clearly pushed him out of my life for times 00:12:20.14\00:12:23.97 and I know I have, God's called to my heart 00:12:24.01\00:12:25.97 and said, Jill, will you do this? 00:12:26.01\00:12:27.78 Will you follow Me? 00:12:27.81\00:12:29.14 Will you walk in my way and I say, 00:12:29.18\00:12:30.78 "I chose you this morning 00:12:30.81\00:12:32.15 but now this other path, 00:12:32.18\00:12:33.52 it looks kind of good to me right now," 00:12:33.55\00:12:34.92 because sometimes sin looks pleasant to us. 00:12:34.95\00:12:38.35 Okay, God, I want to go this way. 00:12:38.39\00:12:40.32 The key is, once you choose Him as your master. 00:12:40.36\00:12:42.76 The second key is to abide in Him. 00:12:42.79\00:12:45.73 When we abide, we abide continually, 00:12:45.76\00:12:49.13 not just choosing Him and then going our own way, 00:12:49.16\00:12:52.27 but allowing His strength, His grace, His power, 00:12:52.30\00:12:56.71 His Spirit, His anointing to continuously 00:12:56.74\00:13:00.64 flow through us. 00:13:00.68\00:13:02.44 John 15:5, "I am the vine, you are the branches. 00:13:02.48\00:13:06.72 He who abides in Me and I in him, 00:13:06.75\00:13:09.72 bears much fruit, 00:13:09.75\00:13:11.89 for without me you can do nothing." 00:13:11.92\00:13:13.92 So there's nothing of ourselves that we can do. 00:13:13.96\00:13:17.69 But abiding in Him, depending on Him, 00:13:17.73\00:13:20.33 surrendered to Him, 00:13:20.36\00:13:22.06 moment by moment, His power, His strength flows into me. 00:13:22.10\00:13:26.13 And key number three is just to behold Him. 00:13:26.17\00:13:28.97 2 Corinthians 3:18, "But we all with open face, 00:13:29.00\00:13:32.51 beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord 00:13:32.54\00:13:35.48 are being transformed into the same image 00:13:35.51\00:13:39.05 from glory to glory, 00:13:39.08\00:13:40.65 even as by the Spirit of the Lord." 00:13:40.68\00:13:44.19 Spend time in His work, spend time looking at Jesus, 00:13:44.22\00:13:48.26 spend time studying Him 00:13:48.29\00:13:51.23 and His character 00:13:51.26\00:13:52.59 and you will be transformed into His image. 00:13:52.63\00:13:57.03 Pastor Ryan. 00:13:57.07\00:13:58.40 Wow! Praise the Lord. 00:13:58.43\00:13:59.77 That was a great set-up. 00:13:59.80\00:14:01.47 Because I love the fact that this lesson kind of helps us 00:14:01.50\00:14:04.74 to dive a little bit into the sanctuary 00:14:04.77\00:14:07.04 to see the covenant promise from the sanctuary perspective. 00:14:07.08\00:14:10.85 And Monday's lesson doesn't let us down 00:14:10.88\00:14:12.58 because it's entitled Sin, Sacrifice and Acceptance. 00:14:12.61\00:14:16.52 And that's exactly 00:14:16.55\00:14:17.89 what we're going to be talking about. 00:14:17.92\00:14:19.25 We're going to be talking about, you know, 00:14:19.29\00:14:20.66 the effects of sin, how it dealt from the... 00:14:20.69\00:14:23.73 How it was dealt with from a sanctuary perspective. 00:14:23.76\00:14:26.06 And, you know, being that we're talking about 00:14:26.09\00:14:28.70 this new covenant, you know, 00:14:28.73\00:14:30.83 looking back sometimes helps us to appreciate what we have now. 00:14:30.87\00:14:35.37 And I want to start with Hebrews Chapter 9. 00:14:35.40\00:14:37.64 Let's go to Hebrews Chapter 9. 00:14:37.67\00:14:39.87 There's lots to say and a little time to say it. 00:14:39.91\00:14:42.31 Hebrews Chapter 9, and we're going to be 00:14:42.34\00:14:44.51 making our way to verse 22. 00:14:44.55\00:14:46.41 But I want to start with verse 16. 00:14:46.45\00:14:49.38 So the Bible says Hebrews, in Hebrews Chapter 9, 00:14:49.42\00:14:51.59 beginning with verse 16, 00:14:51.62\00:14:52.95 it says, "For where there is a testament, 00:14:52.99\00:14:54.76 or in this case a will, there must also of necessity 00:14:54.79\00:14:58.79 be the death of the testator, or in this case the will maker. 00:14:58.83\00:15:03.26 For a testament is enforced after men are dead, 00:15:03.30\00:15:06.70 since it has no power at all, while the testator lives. 00:15:06.74\00:15:11.57 Therefore, not even the first covenant 00:15:11.61\00:15:14.81 was dedicated without blood. 00:15:14.84\00:15:17.75 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people 00:15:17.78\00:15:21.05 according to the law, 00:15:21.08\00:15:22.42 he took the blood of calves and goats with water, 00:15:22.45\00:15:26.65 scarlet wool and hyssop, 00:15:26.69\00:15:28.72 and sprinkling both the book itself 00:15:28.76\00:15:30.69 and all the people saying, 00:15:30.73\00:15:33.50 'This is the blood of the covenant, 00:15:33.53\00:15:35.83 which God has commanded you. 00:15:35.86\00:15:37.83 Then likewise, he sprinkled with blood, 00:15:37.87\00:15:41.17 both the tabernacle 00:15:41.20\00:15:42.54 and all the vessels of the ministry." 00:15:42.57\00:15:45.17 And then here's verse 22. 00:15:45.21\00:15:46.78 "And according to the law 00:15:46.81\00:15:48.54 almost all things are purified with blood, 00:15:48.58\00:15:52.31 and without shedding of blood 00:15:52.35\00:15:54.12 there is no remission of sins." 00:15:54.15\00:15:57.82 And when you study the sanctuary perspective, 00:15:57.85\00:16:00.42 so from a sanctuary perspective, 00:16:00.46\00:16:01.79 you know, that is the case. 00:16:01.82\00:16:03.16 And you know, I just can't imagine 00:16:03.19\00:16:05.03 because considering, you know, 00:16:05.06\00:16:06.59 we're so blessed to live in a time 00:16:06.63\00:16:09.30 in which all of that has been done away 00:16:09.33\00:16:11.77 with in the sense that now we can just depend 00:16:11.80\00:16:13.74 on the shed blood of Jesus Christ 00:16:13.77\00:16:15.67 that has already been shed, right? 00:16:15.70\00:16:17.64 We can look unto Him, 00:16:17.67\00:16:19.01 the author and finisher of our faith 00:16:19.04\00:16:20.38 and know that He has already completed 00:16:20.41\00:16:23.11 that sacrificial work. 00:16:23.14\00:16:24.61 And, but I just want 00:16:24.65\00:16:25.98 to just take kind of a step back 00:16:26.01\00:16:27.75 and look from a sanctuary perspective. 00:16:27.78\00:16:29.72 Because could you imagine being a sinner living back 00:16:29.75\00:16:33.59 in the biblical days 00:16:33.62\00:16:34.96 during the Hebrew sanctuary time, 00:16:34.99\00:16:36.66 and you need forgiveness of sin, 00:16:36.69\00:16:38.06 you know that that sin is applied to you 00:16:38.09\00:16:40.63 because you've committed sin. 00:16:40.66\00:16:42.00 And now you need cleansing of that sin. 00:16:42.03\00:16:43.87 You need forgiveness of that sin. 00:16:43.90\00:16:45.23 And how do you get it? 00:16:45.27\00:16:46.97 Well, you got to take either a bullock, 00:16:47.00\00:16:50.21 a goat, a lamb, a dove, a pigeon of some kind, 00:16:50.24\00:16:54.01 and you got to take that long, 00:16:54.04\00:16:56.04 half a mile walk of shame, from closest tent, 00:16:56.08\00:16:59.45 all the way out to the sanctuary. 00:16:59.48\00:17:01.08 You can imagine that 00:17:01.12\00:17:02.45 as the men were walking across that, 00:17:02.48\00:17:05.22 that plain there, 00:17:05.25\00:17:06.59 making their way to the sanctuary, 00:17:06.62\00:17:07.96 all the people from all the tribes could look, 00:17:07.99\00:17:09.99 and they could see across, oh, there goes Bob, 00:17:10.03\00:17:12.09 he must have sinned, he's going to get forgiveness, 00:17:12.13\00:17:15.46 you know, he's going to present his offering, 00:17:15.50\00:17:16.83 his sin offering. 00:17:16.87\00:17:18.20 And, by the way, 00:17:18.23\00:17:19.57 there were many, many different offerings 00:17:19.60\00:17:20.94 in the sanctuary service, just to mention a few, 00:17:20.97\00:17:23.00 the burnt offerings 00:17:23.04\00:17:24.37 which were really the main ones, 00:17:24.41\00:17:25.74 of course, the food offerings, 00:17:25.77\00:17:27.11 the peace offerings, there were sin offerings, 00:17:27.14\00:17:28.51 and there were also trespass offerings as well. 00:17:28.54\00:17:32.08 But, you know, they walk across that open plain, 00:17:32.11\00:17:36.05 and they're making their way to the sanctuary 00:17:36.08\00:17:37.75 and they're going to meet the priest that serve, 00:17:37.79\00:17:41.62 the priest who's serving that day, 00:17:41.66\00:17:42.99 they're going to meet the priests 00:17:43.02\00:17:44.36 at the door of the sanctuary. 00:17:44.39\00:17:46.09 And there that sinner, 00:17:46.13\00:17:48.46 the sinner is going to take their hands 00:17:48.50\00:17:50.10 and they're going to place it upon the head 00:17:50.13\00:17:51.57 or up on the body of that animal. 00:17:51.60\00:17:52.97 In this case, we're going to use the lamb 00:17:53.00\00:17:54.40 as an example. 00:17:54.44\00:17:55.77 They're going to place their head, 00:17:55.80\00:17:57.14 their hands upon the head of that little lamb. 00:17:57.17\00:17:59.44 And they're going to confess their sins, 00:17:59.47\00:18:02.78 signifying that the record of sin 00:18:02.81\00:18:04.51 is now transferred from the sinner 00:18:04.55\00:18:07.08 now to the lamb. 00:18:07.12\00:18:08.45 But then after the record of sin 00:18:08.48\00:18:10.15 is now symbolically transferred from the sinner to that lamb, 00:18:10.19\00:18:13.02 after they have confessed of their sins, 00:18:13.05\00:18:15.42 now they've got to take the life of that animal, 00:18:15.46\00:18:18.26 they're going to spill the blood of that animal. 00:18:18.29\00:18:20.70 And in the process 00:18:20.73\00:18:22.06 of taking the life of that animal, 00:18:22.10\00:18:23.43 the priest there is going to catch 00:18:23.47\00:18:25.10 some of that blood 00:18:25.13\00:18:26.47 in some type of receiver of some kind, 00:18:26.50\00:18:28.34 a bowl or a large basin 00:18:28.37\00:18:30.04 or cup or something, 00:18:30.07\00:18:31.41 they're going to catch that blood again, 00:18:31.44\00:18:33.91 because again, life according to Leviticus 17:11, 00:18:33.94\00:18:37.91 the life is in the blood, right? 00:18:37.95\00:18:39.58 Why does there need to be the shedding of blood? 00:18:39.61\00:18:41.45 Because life, the life of that person, 00:18:41.48\00:18:43.39 or that animal in this case, is in the blood. 00:18:43.42\00:18:45.95 And so they're offering that signifying that 00:18:45.99\00:18:49.76 the sin is now went from the sinner to the lamb, 00:18:49.79\00:18:53.33 now to the blood. 00:18:53.36\00:18:54.70 And it's interesting what happens 00:18:54.73\00:18:56.06 because a lot of people think that the, 00:18:56.10\00:18:58.10 the person offering this lamb, that they just take the life, 00:18:58.13\00:19:00.70 you know, cutting of the throat of the animal, 00:19:00.74\00:19:02.14 or, you know, taking the life and just walk away, 00:19:02.17\00:19:03.97 but they also had to fillet this animal out. 00:19:04.01\00:19:06.34 They had to separate its inward parts 00:19:06.37\00:19:08.21 from certain other parts, 00:19:08.24\00:19:09.58 because they're going to offer this as 00:19:09.61\00:19:10.95 whether it be as trespass offering 00:19:10.98\00:19:12.48 or sin offering, 00:19:12.51\00:19:13.85 it's going to be offered as some type of burnt offering. 00:19:13.88\00:19:16.05 And that priest is going to take that blood, 00:19:16.08\00:19:18.85 and he's going to go to that altar 00:19:18.89\00:19:20.36 of burnt sacrifices. 00:19:20.39\00:19:21.72 And he's going to sprinkle that blood upon the altar 00:19:21.76\00:19:24.49 all around about the altar, 00:19:24.53\00:19:25.99 and he's going to touch it to the four corners, 00:19:26.03\00:19:27.90 the four horns of that altar, 00:19:27.93\00:19:29.36 and what is left over after the sprinkling process, 00:19:29.40\00:19:31.70 he's going to take the rest of that blood, 00:19:31.73\00:19:33.17 and he's going to pour it 00:19:33.20\00:19:34.54 all around the base of that altar. 00:19:34.57\00:19:36.37 And we know that altar points to who? 00:19:36.40\00:19:38.31 What does it represent? 00:19:38.34\00:19:39.67 It points at all points to Jesus Christ 00:19:39.71\00:19:41.94 who takes away the sin of the world, right? 00:19:41.98\00:19:43.58 He is the Lamb of God, signifying again, 00:19:43.61\00:19:46.21 that the record of sin has transferred 00:19:46.25\00:19:48.18 from the person to the lamb, to the blood, 00:19:48.22\00:19:50.49 and now that blood, 00:19:50.52\00:19:51.85 that sinful blood for the sake of, 00:19:51.89\00:19:53.39 you know, for illustration purposes, 00:19:53.42\00:19:55.42 is now transferred into that sanctuary service 00:19:55.46\00:19:58.99 where it has now been placed into the hands of God. 00:19:59.03\00:20:01.83 Only God can deal with that sin issue now. 00:20:01.86\00:20:05.20 And, of course, there were instances where, 00:20:05.23\00:20:07.07 of course, the high priest, 00:20:07.10\00:20:08.44 whether it was on behalf of the nation, 00:20:08.47\00:20:09.80 or if it was on behalf of himself, 00:20:09.84\00:20:11.94 or other individuals would sometimes go 00:20:11.97\00:20:14.08 into the holy place of the sanctuary. 00:20:14.11\00:20:16.68 And they would also touch the blood 00:20:16.71\00:20:18.48 to the four corners of the horns 00:20:18.51\00:20:20.12 of the altar of incense. 00:20:20.15\00:20:22.25 And they would also sprinkle the blood about the veil there. 00:20:22.28\00:20:25.25 And it's... 00:20:25.29\00:20:26.62 I mean, this was just for 359, 360 days, 00:20:26.65\00:20:31.09 we'll just go ahead and say, 00:20:31.13\00:20:32.46 'cause there were 360 days in a Jewish year, 00:20:32.49\00:20:35.06 the blood and the sin, 00:20:35.10\00:20:37.17 we're going to say the sin blood is coming in 00:20:37.20\00:20:39.93 into the sanctuary 359 days out of the 360 day year period. 00:20:39.97\00:20:45.27 And on that 360th day, 00:20:45.31\00:20:47.48 God is going to deal with that record of sin. 00:20:47.51\00:20:49.78 Of course, we know this 00:20:49.81\00:20:51.15 within the context of the Day of Atonement, 00:20:51.18\00:20:53.48 just to kind of illustrate that 00:20:53.52\00:20:55.02 and to get that in our mind. 00:20:55.05\00:20:56.38 This was the process of forgiveness of sin. 00:20:56.42\00:20:59.12 If you wanted forgiveness of sin, 00:20:59.15\00:21:00.89 this is what you had to go through. 00:21:00.92\00:21:02.46 It was a bloody mess. 00:21:02.49\00:21:05.19 But we have a promise, 00:21:05.23\00:21:06.70 because as Jill brought out very clearly, 00:21:06.73\00:21:08.66 Jesus was the antitype, okay? 00:21:08.70\00:21:10.97 All they were doing was doing it 00:21:11.00\00:21:12.87 for the purpose of looking forward. 00:21:12.90\00:21:15.00 Those were shadows of things 00:21:15.04\00:21:16.37 looking forward to Jesus Christ 00:21:16.40\00:21:18.04 to his ultimate fulfillment of the covenant. 00:21:18.07\00:21:20.24 He would be the great sacrifice. 00:21:20.28\00:21:21.98 I want us to go to Isaiah 53. 00:21:22.01\00:21:23.51 We see again, a beautiful, 00:21:23.55\00:21:25.71 almost poetic description of this 00:21:25.75\00:21:29.28 as it is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, 00:21:29.32\00:21:31.69 the ultimate Lamb of God 00:21:31.72\00:21:33.15 who takes away the sin of the world. 00:21:33.19\00:21:34.79 Isaiah 53:4. 00:21:34.82\00:21:37.79 The Bible says, "Surely he has borne our griefs 00:21:37.83\00:21:41.23 and carried our sorrows, 00:21:41.26\00:21:42.63 yet we esteemed him stricken, 00:21:42.66\00:21:44.47 smitten by God, and afflicted. 00:21:44.50\00:21:47.20 But he was wounded for our transgression, 00:21:47.24\00:21:49.90 he was bruised for our iniquities, 00:21:49.94\00:21:52.11 the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, 00:21:52.14\00:21:55.54 and by His stripes we are healed." 00:21:55.58\00:21:58.05 You see, before Christ had come, 00:21:58.08\00:22:00.08 they had to look to that little lamb, 00:22:00.12\00:22:01.75 they had to look to the taking of the life 00:22:01.78\00:22:03.59 and the complete slaying 00:22:03.62\00:22:05.99 and literal filleting of that animal as God asked them 00:22:06.02\00:22:09.52 to do in the appropriate manner 00:22:09.56\00:22:11.59 for the sacrifice and offering of sin. 00:22:11.63\00:22:14.10 In this case, Christ fulfilled all of it. 00:22:14.13\00:22:16.03 He was that ultimate sacrifice. 00:22:16.06\00:22:18.13 Looking on to verse 6. 00:22:18.17\00:22:19.80 It says, "All we like sheep have gone astray, 00:22:19.83\00:22:21.70 we have turned everyone to his own way. 00:22:21.74\00:22:24.27 And the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 00:22:24.31\00:22:28.38 He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, 00:22:28.41\00:22:30.48 yet He opened not His mouth, 00:22:30.51\00:22:32.55 He was a led, here it is, 00:22:32.58\00:22:33.92 as a lamb to the slaughter 00:22:33.95\00:22:36.15 and as a sheep before it shearers is silent. 00:22:36.18\00:22:38.79 So He opened not His mouth. 00:22:38.82\00:22:40.82 He was taken from prison and from judgment, 00:22:40.86\00:22:43.53 and who will declare His generation? 00:22:43.56\00:22:46.53 For he was cut off from the land of the living, 00:22:46.56\00:22:49.00 for the transgressions of My people, He was stricken." 00:22:49.03\00:22:53.13 I love this verse. 00:22:53.17\00:22:54.50 Let's skip down to verse 12 here. 00:22:54.54\00:22:55.87 "Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, 00:22:55.90\00:22:58.14 and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, 00:22:58.17\00:23:00.78 because He poured out 00:23:00.81\00:23:02.14 His soul unto death, and He was numbered 00:23:02.18\00:23:04.38 with the transgressors, He bore the sin of many, 00:23:04.41\00:23:07.18 and He became intercession for the transgressors." 00:23:07.22\00:23:11.05 We look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, 00:23:11.09\00:23:13.96 because for our sin, He died, He was the sacrifice 00:23:13.99\00:23:18.19 and it is only through Christ 00:23:18.23\00:23:19.86 that we are accepted into the lineage of Christ. 00:23:19.89\00:23:22.76 When we accept Jesus Christ, 00:23:22.80\00:23:24.43 we become the seeds of Abraham heirs, 00:23:24.47\00:23:26.94 according to the promise. 00:23:26.97\00:23:28.30 And I love this message 00:23:28.34\00:23:29.67 because when you consider it from a sanctuary perspective, 00:23:29.70\00:23:32.07 you learn to really appreciate the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. 00:23:32.11\00:23:36.64 You really appreciate the New Covenant fulfillment 00:23:36.68\00:23:39.31 in Jesus Christ. 00:23:39.35\00:23:40.68 And for without the shedding of blood 00:23:40.72\00:23:42.22 there is no remission of sin. 00:23:42.25\00:23:43.59 But praise the Lord, 00:23:43.62\00:23:44.95 there is no need for any more bloodshed, 00:23:44.99\00:23:47.22 because Jesus Christ has already shed 00:23:47.26\00:23:48.92 His perfect blood for us. 00:23:48.96\00:23:50.29 He became sin for us that we might have life in Him. 00:23:50.33\00:23:56.36 Amen. Thank you so much Ryan. 00:23:56.40\00:23:58.80 Sin, sacrifice and acceptance, I love that, great study. 00:23:58.83\00:24:02.14 Don't go away. White, 00:26:35.82\00:26:39.83 The Faith I Live By, page 100. 00:26:39.86\00:26:42.40 "It is not God's will that you should be distrustful 00:26:42.43\00:26:45.20 and torture your soul with the fear that 00:26:45.23\00:26:47.70 God will not accept you 00:26:47.74\00:26:49.74 because you are sinful and unworthy. 00:26:49.77\00:26:52.11 You can say, I know I am a sinner. 00:26:52.14\00:26:56.14 And that is the reason I need a Savior. 00:26:56.18\00:26:58.81 I have no merit or goodness, whereby I may claim salvation, 00:26:58.85\00:27:02.98 but I present before God, 00:27:03.02\00:27:05.09 the all atoning blood of the spotless Lamb of God, 00:27:05.12\00:27:10.13 which taketh away the sin of the world. 00:27:10.16\00:27:13.60 This is my only plea." 00:27:13.63\00:27:17.50 End of the quote. 00:27:17.53\00:27:19.43 The religion of grace plus is legalism. 00:27:19.47\00:27:23.74 Anytime we are walking in our own power, 00:27:23.77\00:27:27.71 under our own rules to earn God's favor. 00:27:27.74\00:27:31.05 And legalism has a tendency 00:27:31.08\00:27:35.55 that kind of reemerges over time. 00:27:35.58\00:27:39.35 And it will taint the everlasting gospel of God. 00:27:39.39\00:27:44.69 It nullifies it. 00:27:44.73\00:27:46.06 It's just like, 00:27:46.09\00:27:47.43 if I have a clear bottle of water here, 00:27:47.46\00:27:49.80 and I put just one little drop of arsenic, 00:27:49.83\00:27:53.97 how much of the content of this bottle is ruined? 00:27:54.00\00:27:57.24 It's all ruined, is it not? 00:27:57.27\00:27:58.97 Paul calls any grace plus a different gospel. 00:27:59.01\00:28:04.05 So Galatians 1:4 says, 00:28:04.08\00:28:06.41 "That Christ gave Himself for our sins, 00:28:06.45\00:28:09.78 that He might deliver us from this present evil age, 00:28:09.82\00:28:13.29 according to the will of our God and Father." 00:28:13.32\00:28:15.56 And we know that the will of God is that 00:28:15.59\00:28:17.99 all men would come to the knowledge of truth 00:28:18.03\00:28:21.90 and be saved is what it says in 1 Timothy 2:4. 00:28:21.93\00:28:27.17 Because of our sins, 00:28:27.20\00:28:28.54 we deserve the penalty of death. 00:28:28.57\00:28:30.51 But Christ came to voluntarily be the substitute. 00:28:30.54\00:28:36.44 His standing in to take our sins 00:28:36.48\00:28:41.08 is the core truth of the gospel, 00:28:41.12\00:28:43.62 His death and resurrection. 00:28:43.65\00:28:45.39 Real quickly, why did He have to shed His blood? 00:28:45.42\00:28:49.66 He shed His blood to ratify the New Covenant, to redeem us. 00:28:49.69\00:28:55.56 He shed His blood to reconcile us 00:28:55.60\00:28:58.17 and restore our relationship with God. 00:28:58.20\00:29:00.74 He shed His blood to cleanse us from our sin. 00:29:00.77\00:29:04.17 Let's see how fast we can go through that. 00:29:04.21\00:29:06.91 We've seen in the Old Testament 00:29:06.94\00:29:08.74 you just got through reading this from, 00:29:08.78\00:29:10.78 even Hebrews mentions, 00:29:10.81\00:29:12.68 how was the Old Covenant ratified? 00:29:12.71\00:29:15.72 Moses had a sacrifice, 00:29:15.75\00:29:18.12 sprinkle the book of the covenant, 00:29:18.15\00:29:20.22 sprinkle the blood on the people 00:29:20.26\00:29:23.02 and on the book. 00:29:23.06\00:29:24.39 Well, Jesus says in Matthew 26:28, 00:29:24.43\00:29:28.20 "This is the blood, My blood of the new covenant 00:29:28.23\00:29:32.07 which is shed from the remission of sins." 00:29:32.10\00:29:37.17 And in Hebrews 13:20 calls 00:29:37.21\00:29:39.81 "His blood, the blood of the everlasting covenant." 00:29:39.84\00:29:44.98 It is God's plan of redemption. 00:29:45.01\00:29:49.28 He was foreordained as the Lamb of God 00:29:49.32\00:29:52.32 before the foundation of the world. 00:29:52.35\00:29:54.82 Now, if we look at Hebrews 9:12, 00:29:54.86\00:29:58.19 it says, "Not with the blood of goats and calves, 00:29:58.23\00:30:00.40 but with His own blood 00:30:00.43\00:30:03.13 He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, 00:30:03.16\00:30:06.60 having obtained eternal redemption." 00:30:06.63\00:30:11.57 The completeness 00:30:11.61\00:30:13.34 of Christ's sacrificial substitutionary death 00:30:13.38\00:30:18.81 is it's His atoning work, it's done. 00:30:18.85\00:30:22.42 He shed His blood to redeem us, Romans 3:21-23, 00:30:22.45\00:30:27.59 "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, 00:30:27.62\00:30:30.09 being justified freely by His grace, 00:30:30.13\00:30:32.59 through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." 00:30:32.63\00:30:36.13 That means redemption is to pay the price 00:30:36.16\00:30:38.90 to buy you out of the bondage of the slavery to sin. 00:30:38.93\00:30:42.60 And it says in verse 25, 00:30:42.64\00:30:44.87 "Whom God set forth 00:30:44.91\00:30:46.47 as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, 00:30:46.51\00:30:52.31 to demonstrate His righteousness." 00:30:52.35\00:30:54.92 Did you know God became a human 00:30:54.95\00:30:56.82 so that He could become our kinsman redeemer? 00:30:56.85\00:31:00.99 We were sold into slavery. 00:31:01.02\00:31:03.66 We needed someone to come rescue us, 00:31:03.69\00:31:07.06 and Christ paid the price. 00:31:07.10\00:31:10.17 He bought us out of the curse of sin. 00:31:10.20\00:31:13.74 He defends us, He vindicates us. 00:31:13.77\00:31:16.14 Our maker, our creator, became our redeemer, 00:31:16.17\00:31:21.38 our deliverer, our kinsmen redeemer. 00:31:21.41\00:31:25.78 He substituted His life for ours. 00:31:25.81\00:31:31.32 Now, 1 Peter 1:18-23. 00:31:31.35\00:31:35.96 I love this scripture, 00:31:35.99\00:31:38.03 because the death that Christ died was 00:31:38.06\00:31:40.70 what we deserved. 00:31:40.73\00:31:42.60 But Christ satisfied God's wrath against sin, 00:31:42.63\00:31:48.60 while He was on the cross. 00:31:48.64\00:31:50.97 1 Peter 1:18, "Knowing that 00:31:51.01\00:31:52.84 you were not redeemed with corruptible things, 00:31:52.87\00:31:55.38 like silver and gold, 00:31:55.41\00:31:56.75 from your aimless conduct, 00:31:56.78\00:31:58.45 but with the precious blood of Christ." 00:31:58.48\00:32:02.12 That's, you know what, if anybody's ever told you, 00:32:02.15\00:32:05.25 you're not worth anything, 00:32:05.29\00:32:07.42 I want you to know something, 00:32:07.46\00:32:09.46 you are worth nothing less than the price 00:32:09.49\00:32:11.69 that He paid to redeem you with His own precious blood. 00:32:11.73\00:32:17.10 And it says, "He indeed was foreordained 00:32:17.13\00:32:20.40 before the foundation of the world. 00:32:20.44\00:32:23.04 He was a Lamb slain 00:32:23.07\00:32:24.41 from the foundation of the world. 00:32:24.44\00:32:26.47 But He was made manifest to you in these last days. 00:32:26.51\00:32:30.28 His shed blood reconciles us and restores our relationship." 00:32:30.31\00:32:36.08 Galatians 1:20. 00:32:36.12\00:32:37.95 It says, "By him to reconcile all things to himself, 00:32:37.99\00:32:41.82 whether on earth or in heaven, 00:32:41.86\00:32:44.46 having made peace through the blood of His cross." 00:32:44.49\00:32:49.73 See, we're not at peace with God 00:32:49.76\00:32:51.63 when we're walking in sin. 00:32:51.67\00:32:53.64 And it's, its one thing to be forgiven of your sins, 00:32:53.67\00:32:57.21 but to have the relationship restored. 00:32:57.24\00:33:00.08 That's what reconciliation is, is a restored relationship. 00:33:00.11\00:33:04.91 And that's why Hebrews 10:19 says that 00:33:04.95\00:33:08.25 "We have the boldness to enter into the Holiest 00:33:08.28\00:33:13.19 before the Lord God's throne by the blood of Jesus, 00:33:13.22\00:33:18.39 and He shed His blood to cleanse us from sin." 00:33:18.43\00:33:22.23 Revelation 1:5 says, "He loved us and washed us 00:33:22.26\00:33:25.27 from our sins by His own blood." 00:33:25.30\00:33:27.94 Hebrews 9:22 says, "According to the law, 00:33:27.97\00:33:31.27 there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood." 00:33:31.31\00:33:35.14 But there's more than just cleansing our record. 00:33:35.18\00:33:38.78 Look at what Hebrews 9:14 says, "He washes our consciences. 00:33:38.81\00:33:44.99 How much more shall the blood of Christ 00:33:45.02\00:33:47.72 who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself 00:33:47.76\00:33:50.99 without spot to God, cleanse your conscience 00:33:51.03\00:33:53.60 from dead works to serve the living God?" 00:33:53.63\00:33:57.03 Oh, praise God for the substitution. 00:33:57.07\00:34:01.60 He as our substitute delivered us 00:34:01.64\00:34:04.97 from the guilt of sin. 00:34:05.01\00:34:06.78 He delivered us, 00:34:06.81\00:34:08.44 helps us overcome the grip of sin. 00:34:08.48\00:34:11.25 He reconciled us to God restored our relationship. 00:34:11.28\00:34:15.28 He imputes His righteousness to him 00:34:15.32\00:34:17.29 and by His blood, 00:34:17.32\00:34:18.65 we're accepted righteous by faith, 00:34:18.69\00:34:21.16 He provided access to God 00:34:21.19\00:34:23.56 and He provides a secure future with God. 00:34:23.59\00:34:30.23 I just have to say one thing. 00:34:30.27\00:34:32.43 Remember this. 00:34:32.47\00:34:34.20 Christ is the one who will help you overcome 00:34:34.24\00:34:39.14 because He empowers you to obey 00:34:39.17\00:34:41.84 and walk in righteousness, 00:34:41.88\00:34:43.75 even grace or obedience 00:34:43.78\00:34:47.18 is by grace. 00:34:47.22\00:34:50.52 Amen. Amen. 00:34:50.55\00:34:52.09 Well, we moved to Wednesday's portion. 00:34:52.12\00:34:54.12 And now we have the topic, The New Covenant High Priest. 00:34:54.16\00:34:59.79 The New Covenant High Priest. 00:34:59.83\00:35:01.73 So join me now as we look at this day. 00:35:01.76\00:35:05.53 And there's a message here in the lesson 00:35:05.57\00:35:09.47 that is very important. 00:35:09.50\00:35:10.84 So I'm going to read it. 00:35:10.87\00:35:13.17 The earthly sanctuary where God chose to dwell 00:35:13.21\00:35:16.31 with His people centered around 00:35:16.34\00:35:18.01 the sacrifice of the animals. 00:35:18.05\00:35:20.22 Yet, the service did not end 00:35:20.25\00:35:23.69 with the death of these creatures. 00:35:23.72\00:35:26.89 The priest ministered the blood in the sanctuary 00:35:26.92\00:35:30.56 on behalf of the sinner, 00:35:30.59\00:35:32.86 after the sacrifice itself was killed. 00:35:32.89\00:35:36.33 You heard Pastor Ryan speak about this, 00:35:36.36\00:35:38.43 this whole service however was only a shadow, 00:35:38.47\00:35:42.10 a symbol of what Christ would do 00:35:42.14\00:35:44.44 for the world. 00:35:44.47\00:35:45.81 Thus, just as the symbols of the sanctuary service 00:35:45.84\00:35:49.38 did not end with the death of the animal, 00:35:49.41\00:35:52.11 Christ's work for us did not end with His death 00:35:52.15\00:35:56.22 on the cross either. 00:35:56.25\00:35:58.65 This is why I want to ask you 00:35:58.69\00:36:00.69 to turn with me to Romans 5:8-10. 00:36:00.72\00:36:03.96 Let's take a look at this. 00:36:03.99\00:36:06.93 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that 00:36:06.96\00:36:11.60 while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, 00:36:11.63\00:36:16.57 much more than having now been 00:36:16.60\00:36:19.07 justified by His blood, 00:36:19.11\00:36:22.81 we shall be saved from wrath through Him." 00:36:22.84\00:36:25.35 Notice, His blood just defies us. 00:36:25.38\00:36:28.65 Now notice verse 10, very important. 00:36:28.68\00:36:31.29 "For if when we were enemies, 00:36:31.32\00:36:33.05 we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, 00:36:33.09\00:36:37.76 His death reconciles us much more, 00:36:37.79\00:36:40.73 having been reconciled we shall be saved by His life." 00:36:40.76\00:36:46.47 Praise the Lord. Amen. 00:36:46.50\00:36:48.14 Hallelujah. What does this mean? 00:36:48.17\00:36:50.07 We are saved, yes, 00:36:50.11\00:36:51.44 by the righteous life of Christ, 00:36:51.47\00:36:53.27 but His life after His death as our high priest. 00:36:53.31\00:36:57.88 So, notice in Leviticus Chapter 4, 00:36:57.91\00:37:01.02 I got to read this quickly, Leviticus Chapter 4. 00:37:01.05\00:37:03.25 What happens when... 00:37:03.28\00:37:05.75 This was described by Pastor Ryan, 00:37:05.79\00:37:07.72 but I'm going to read the verses quickly. 00:37:07.76\00:37:09.82 Leviticus 4:3. 00:37:09.86\00:37:11.99 Notice, if the priest, this is an example. 00:37:12.03\00:37:14.66 "If the priest that is anointed, 00:37:14.70\00:37:16.40 do sin according to the sin of the people, 00:37:16.43\00:37:18.60 then let him bring for his sin, 00:37:18.63\00:37:20.74 which he had sinned, 00:37:20.77\00:37:22.30 a young bullock without blemish, 00:37:22.34\00:37:24.87 unto the Lord for a sin offering." 00:37:24.91\00:37:26.64 Had to be without blemish, because Christ was without sin. 00:37:26.68\00:37:30.58 "And he shall bring the bullock unto the door of the tabernacle 00:37:30.61\00:37:33.65 the congregation before the Lord, 00:37:33.68\00:37:35.05 and shall lay his hand upon the bullock's head 00:37:35.08\00:37:37.85 and kill the bullock before the Lord. 00:37:37.89\00:37:40.16 And the priests that is anointed 00:37:40.19\00:37:41.62 shall take up the bullock's blood 00:37:41.66\00:37:43.73 and bring it into the tabernacle 00:37:43.76\00:37:46.16 of the congregation." 00:37:46.19\00:37:47.73 He had to go inside with this blood. 00:37:47.76\00:37:50.33 "And the priest 00:37:50.37\00:37:51.70 shall dip this finger in the blood 00:37:51.73\00:37:53.07 and sprinkle of the blood seven times 00:37:53.10\00:37:55.84 before the Lord 00:37:55.87\00:37:57.21 before the veil of the sanctuary. 00:37:57.24\00:37:59.57 So, the death of Christ on the cross, 00:37:59.61\00:38:04.31 if it stopped there was not a complete service 00:38:04.35\00:38:08.82 in the sense that the blood 00:38:08.85\00:38:11.35 had to be taken into the heavenly sanctuary. 00:38:11.39\00:38:14.56 Understand this. 00:38:14.59\00:38:16.62 Let's look at this quote from Great Controversy, 00:38:16.66\00:38:20.10 page 489, presented in better words than I can. 00:38:20.13\00:38:25.17 The intercession of Christ 00:38:25.20\00:38:27.54 in man's behalf in the sanctuary 00:38:27.57\00:38:30.07 above is as essential to the plan of salvation 00:38:30.11\00:38:34.04 as was His death upon the cross. 00:38:34.08\00:38:37.08 By His death, He began that work 00:38:37.11\00:38:39.91 which after His resurrection, 00:38:39.95\00:38:41.72 He ascended to complete in heaven. 00:38:41.75\00:38:44.05 We must by faith enter within the veil, 00:38:44.09\00:38:46.99 whither the forerunner is for us entered. 00:38:47.02\00:38:49.32 Hebrews 6:20. 00:38:49.36\00:38:50.69 "There the light from the cross of Calvary 00:38:50.73\00:38:52.39 is reflected. 00:38:52.43\00:38:53.76 There we may gain a clearer insight 00:38:53.80\00:38:56.70 into the mysteries of redemption. 00:38:56.73\00:38:58.60 The salvation of man is accomplished 00:38:58.63\00:39:00.67 at an infinite expense to heaven, 00:39:00.70\00:39:03.07 the sacrifice made is equal 00:39:03.10\00:39:05.04 to the broadest demands of the broken law of God. 00:39:05.07\00:39:08.54 Jesus has opened the way to the Father's throne, 00:39:08.58\00:39:12.81 and through His mediation the sincere desire of all 00:39:12.85\00:39:16.48 who come to Him in faith may be presented before God." 00:39:16.52\00:39:19.85 Great Controversy, page 489. 00:39:19.89\00:39:22.92 So I praise the Lord for what 00:39:22.96\00:39:24.39 Jesus has done for us and continue to do for us. 00:39:24.43\00:39:28.16 Please understand that His sacrifice on the cross 00:39:28.20\00:39:31.47 was a complete sacrifice. 00:39:31.50\00:39:34.37 It was what was needed. 00:39:34.40\00:39:36.97 He had to die for our sins. 00:39:37.01\00:39:39.64 And then I want to talk about Jesus, 00:39:39.67\00:39:42.31 we have limited time. 00:39:42.34\00:39:43.95 We have to understand that Jesus came to this world, 00:39:43.98\00:39:48.65 but He was divine, but He took upon Him 00:39:48.68\00:39:52.19 sinful human nature. 00:39:52.22\00:39:53.62 They will say mysterious blending 00:39:53.66\00:39:55.96 of divine and sinful nature. 00:39:55.99\00:39:59.03 One did not spill into the other. 00:39:59.06\00:40:00.60 This was separate. 00:40:00.63\00:40:01.96 It's a mystery that 00:40:02.00\00:40:03.33 in this world we cannot fully comprehend. 00:40:03.37\00:40:05.30 This is, we're gonna spend all eternity 00:40:05.33\00:40:07.24 trying to understand the great plan of redemption. 00:40:07.27\00:40:11.17 Now let's take a look, John 1:1-3 quickly, 00:40:11.21\00:40:14.61 it says, "In the beginning was the Word 00:40:14.64\00:40:16.78 and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," 00:40:16.81\00:40:20.22 talking about Jesus. 00:40:20.25\00:40:21.58 "He was in the beginning with God, 00:40:21.62\00:40:23.59 all things were made through Him, 00:40:23.62\00:40:25.52 and without Him nothing was made that was made." 00:40:25.55\00:40:28.59 This is speaking of Jesus. 00:40:28.62\00:40:30.79 He was our Creator. 00:40:30.83\00:40:32.59 John 1:14, then says, "And the Word became flesh, 00:40:32.63\00:40:36.36 and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, 00:40:36.40\00:40:40.00 the glory, 00:40:40.04\00:40:41.37 as of the only begotten of the Father, 00:40:41.40\00:40:43.67 full of grace and truth." 00:40:43.71\00:40:45.71 Praise God. 00:40:45.74\00:40:47.08 I wish we could spend more time on these verses alone. 00:40:47.11\00:40:49.44 But notice this God, Jesus, 00:40:49.48\00:40:53.92 in Galatians 8:3, 00:40:53.95\00:40:56.82 it talks about what happened to Him 00:40:56.85\00:40:59.89 or what He decided to do. 00:40:59.92\00:41:01.92 "For what the law could not do in that 00:41:01.96\00:41:04.13 it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son 00:41:04.16\00:41:08.56 in the likeness of sinful flesh, 00:41:08.60\00:41:11.57 on account of sin: 00:41:11.60\00:41:13.17 He condemned sin in the flesh." 00:41:13.20\00:41:16.04 So this, Jesus, the Son of God, 00:41:16.07\00:41:19.71 who is God, became a human being, 00:41:19.74\00:41:22.84 and took upon him the likeness of sinful flesh. 00:41:22.88\00:41:26.21 But this continues in Hebrews Chapter 7. 00:41:26.25\00:41:30.19 Take a look at Hebrews Chapter 7. 00:41:30.22\00:41:31.85 Let's read verse 26. 00:41:31.89\00:41:33.25 And hopefully, 00:41:33.29\00:41:34.62 we'll be able to read a few more verses afterwards. 00:41:34.66\00:41:36.46 Notice what it says here, 00:41:36.49\00:41:37.83 "For such a High Priest was fitting for us, 00:41:37.86\00:41:42.26 who is holy, harmless, undefiled, 00:41:42.30\00:41:46.57 separate from sinners, 00:41:46.60\00:41:48.10 and has become higher than the heavens." 00:41:48.14\00:41:51.11 Let's take a quick look at these words used here. 00:41:51.14\00:41:54.21 It says, this High Priest was fitting for us. 00:41:54.24\00:41:57.48 The word fitting in the King, New King James Version, 00:41:57.51\00:42:00.58 it uses the word fitting. 00:42:00.62\00:42:01.95 In the King James Version, 00:42:01.98\00:42:03.32 it uses the word such a High Priest became us. 00:42:03.35\00:42:06.65 And so this is a Greek word prepo, 00:42:06.69\00:42:09.76 that means the suitable, proper, 00:42:09.79\00:42:11.63 it is right, and it's comely. 00:42:11.66\00:42:17.40 And so, Jesus is not only suitable, proper, 00:42:17.43\00:42:21.64 He's the exact High Priests we needed. 00:42:21.67\00:42:24.67 He is uniquely qualified. 00:42:24.71\00:42:27.64 In fact, no one else is qualified. 00:42:27.68\00:42:30.85 Jesus is qualified. 00:42:30.88\00:42:32.21 Let's take the second word, who is holy. 00:42:32.25\00:42:35.45 In both the New King James Version 00:42:35.48\00:42:36.82 and King James Version uses the word here holy 00:42:36.85\00:42:38.92 and this word means properly right. 00:42:38.95\00:42:41.39 It says of divine character. 00:42:41.42\00:42:44.06 And so this is the word ousias. 00:42:44.09\00:42:46.83 Let's go to the next word. 00:42:46.86\00:42:48.20 It says that He is harmless. 00:42:48.23\00:42:52.23 It says in the New King James and both the King James, 00:42:52.27\00:42:55.24 it says, is this the word akakos, 00:42:55.27\00:42:56.94 which is a word that means that 00:42:56.97\00:42:59.77 is innocent, harmless, free from guilt. 00:42:59.81\00:43:04.61 This is Jesus. 00:43:04.65\00:43:06.11 He is fitting, holy, harmless, 00:43:06.15\00:43:09.48 but then he says He is undefiled. 00:43:09.52\00:43:12.65 And this word is amíantos, which means exactly that, 00:43:12.69\00:43:17.23 He is undefiled, unsoiled, that is pure. 00:43:17.26\00:43:21.93 So he lived a perfect life, never sinned. 00:43:21.96\00:43:26.03 So He remained undefiled. 00:43:26.07\00:43:29.37 And you know, interesting, 00:43:29.40\00:43:30.74 this word is also, he said innocent, pure. 00:43:30.77\00:43:34.04 And then, of course, it uses the word separate 00:43:34.08\00:43:35.91 from sinners in the sense that He never sinned. 00:43:35.94\00:43:39.98 This is the High Priest that was needed for us. 00:43:40.02\00:43:43.28 This is the High Priest that is working in our behalf, 00:43:43.32\00:43:46.55 Jesus Christ. 00:43:46.59\00:43:48.02 So let's take a look at 1 Peter Chapter 1:18-19. 00:43:48.06\00:43:52.16 This is all I have time to share now. 00:43:52.19\00:43:54.06 "Knowing that you were not redeemed 00:43:54.10\00:43:57.07 with corruptible things like silver or gold." 00:43:57.10\00:44:00.34 In fact, silver or gold could not redeem us. 00:44:00.37\00:44:04.91 It says, "From your aimless conduct 00:44:04.94\00:44:06.84 received by tradition from your fathers, 00:44:06.88\00:44:09.44 but with the precious blood of Christ, 00:44:09.48\00:44:12.85 as of a lamb without blemish, and without spot. 00:44:12.88\00:44:17.29 Jesus Christ, our High Priest, 00:44:17.32\00:44:20.56 it says that He was wounded for our transgressions, 00:44:20.59\00:44:23.83 He was bruised for our iniquities, 00:44:23.86\00:44:25.96 and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, 00:44:25.99\00:44:28.40 and by His stripes, we are healed." 00:44:28.43\00:44:32.00 Praise God that upon Him was put the iniquity of us all, 00:44:32.03\00:44:37.54 as it is written in Isaiah Chapter 53. 00:44:37.57\00:44:40.31 So I encourage you to study these things. 00:44:40.34\00:44:43.21 Jesus Christ is our Savior, He is our High Priest. 00:44:43.24\00:44:48.08 This is worthy of all the time you could possibly spend 00:44:48.12\00:44:51.89 in trying to understand and God will bless this effort. 00:44:51.92\00:44:55.72 Amen. Thank you, Pastor Dinzey. 00:44:55.76\00:44:57.86 Thank you all, for the benefit of listening 00:44:57.89\00:45:01.46 to each one of you, 00:45:01.50\00:45:02.83 so that I know what I don't need to say. 00:45:02.86\00:45:05.63 We're talking about 00:45:05.67\00:45:07.00 the Heavenly Ministry of Christ. 00:45:07.04\00:45:09.00 I want to begin in Hebrews 9:24, 00:45:09.04\00:45:11.94 the heavenly ministry of Christ needs to be understood clearly. 00:45:11.97\00:45:15.58 And each one of our contributors 00:45:15.61\00:45:17.11 made the point in various ways about 00:45:17.15\00:45:20.48 why the ministry of Christ is necessary. 00:45:20.52\00:45:23.08 Hebrews 9:24 begins with his words, 00:45:23.12\00:45:26.05 "For Christ has not entered 00:45:26.09\00:45:28.52 the holy places made with hands, 00:45:28.56\00:45:31.16 which are copies of the true," 00:45:31.19\00:45:34.00 that's Exodus 25:8-9, "but into heaven itself, 00:45:34.03\00:45:38.07 now to appear in the presence of God for us." 00:45:38.10\00:45:41.87 Before the Lord continued His ministerial work, 00:45:41.90\00:45:45.54 His work of mediation. 00:45:45.57\00:45:48.44 Let me take you back to the garden. 00:45:48.48\00:45:51.08 In John 20:17. 00:45:51.11\00:45:53.85 On resurrection morning 00:45:53.88\00:45:55.48 when Mary refused to leave the garden, 00:45:55.52\00:45:59.35 and she thought that Jesus was the gardener 00:45:59.39\00:46:02.56 until she heard His voice. 00:46:02.59\00:46:04.49 And then she held on to Him. 00:46:04.53\00:46:06.90 But He said in John 20:7, verse 17, "Jesus said to her, 00:46:06.93\00:46:11.63 'Do not cling to me, 00:46:11.67\00:46:13.74 for I have not yet ascended to my Father. 00:46:13.77\00:46:17.87 But go to My brethren and say to them, 00:46:17.91\00:46:19.54 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, 00:46:19.57\00:46:22.34 and to my God and your God." 00:46:22.38\00:46:24.05 Now, I want to give you something here that 00:46:24.08\00:46:25.71 we often don't see. 00:46:25.75\00:46:27.52 Before Jesus appeared to the disciples, 00:46:27.55\00:46:31.15 He ascended and then He came back. 00:46:31.19\00:46:34.06 Because He said, He gave them instruction, 00:46:34.09\00:46:36.76 tell them where to meet Me. 00:46:36.79\00:46:38.19 And then He appeared later on in their presence. 00:46:38.23\00:46:40.33 Why was He ascending in this particular? 00:46:40.36\00:46:43.43 This is before He continued His ministerial work, 00:46:43.47\00:46:46.23 the work of mediation? 00:46:46.27\00:46:47.87 Why did He go? Let's go to Revelation 5:2-10. 00:46:47.90\00:46:52.44 Revelation 5:2-10, 00:46:52.47\00:46:54.88 because he had to be declared worthy, 00:46:54.91\00:46:59.18 His sacrifice had to be approved. 00:46:59.21\00:47:01.72 So when you read in Revelation, 00:47:01.75\00:47:03.39 now has come salvation and strength, 00:47:03.42\00:47:06.05 and the kingdom of our God, and of his Christ. 00:47:06.09\00:47:09.39 When you read in Revelation 12:10, 00:47:09.42\00:47:11.76 I'll read that right after this. 00:47:11.79\00:47:13.13 But listen to this in Revelation 5:2-10, 00:47:13.16\00:47:17.07 "Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, 00:47:17.10\00:47:20.27 'Who is worthy to open the scroll 00:47:20.30\00:47:22.04 and to loose its seals?' 00:47:22.07\00:47:24.31 And no one in heaven or on the earth 00:47:24.34\00:47:26.14 or under the earth was able to open the scroll, 00:47:26.17\00:47:28.51 or to look at it. 00:47:28.54\00:47:31.01 So I wept much, verse 4, 00:47:31.05\00:47:32.51 because no one was found worthy to open 00:47:32.55\00:47:36.45 and read the scroll, or to look at it. 00:47:36.48\00:47:38.75 But one of the elders said to me, 00:47:38.79\00:47:40.19 'Do not weep. 00:47:40.22\00:47:41.56 Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, 00:47:41.59\00:47:43.63 the Root of David, 00:47:43.66\00:47:44.99 has prevailed to open the scroll 00:47:45.03\00:47:47.60 and to loose its seven seals.' 00:47:47.63\00:47:50.00 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne 00:47:50.03\00:47:52.53 and of the four living creatures, 00:47:52.57\00:47:53.90 and in the midst of the elders, 00:47:53.94\00:47:56.20 stood a Lamb, watch this, as though it had been slain, 00:47:56.24\00:48:01.28 having seven horns and seven eyes, 00:48:01.31\00:48:02.91 which are the seven Spirits of God 00:48:02.94\00:48:05.08 sent out into all the earth. 00:48:05.11\00:48:06.95 Then He came and took the scroll 00:48:06.98\00:48:08.32 out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. 00:48:08.35\00:48:10.99 Now when He had taken the scroll, 00:48:11.02\00:48:12.45 the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders 00:48:12.49\00:48:14.49 fell down before the Lamb, 00:48:14.52\00:48:17.49 each having a harp, 00:48:17.53\00:48:19.63 and golden bowls full of incense, 00:48:19.66\00:48:22.00 all sanctuary language, 00:48:22.03\00:48:24.10 which are the prayers of the saints. 00:48:24.13\00:48:25.93 And they sang a new song, saying: 00:48:25.97\00:48:28.30 'You are worthy to take the scroll, 00:48:28.34\00:48:30.11 and to open its seals, for You were slain, 00:48:30.14\00:48:33.44 and have redeemed us to God 00:48:33.48\00:48:36.14 by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue 00:48:36.18\00:48:38.85 and people and nation, 00:48:38.88\00:48:40.48 and have made us kings and priests to our God, 00:48:40.52\00:48:42.95 and we shall reign on the earth.'" 00:48:42.98\00:48:45.55 This had to be proclaimed 00:48:45.59\00:48:48.09 before Jesus then could appear 00:48:48.12\00:48:49.86 in the presence of His disciples. 00:48:49.89\00:48:51.76 His sacrifice had to be approved, 00:48:51.79\00:48:55.53 the only one that was worthy, had to be declared worthy. 00:48:55.56\00:48:59.20 That's why Revelation 12:10, 00:48:59.23\00:49:01.27 has these words to encourage us. 00:49:01.30\00:49:04.47 "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 00:49:04.51\00:49:06.88 'Now salvation, and strength, 00:49:06.91\00:49:09.11 and the kingdom of our God, 00:49:09.14\00:49:10.85 and the power of His Christ have come, 00:49:10.88\00:49:13.11 for the accuser of our brethren, 00:49:13.15\00:49:14.78 who accused them before our God day and night, 00:49:14.82\00:49:17.09 has been cast down.'" 00:49:17.12\00:49:18.62 And look at verse 11. 00:49:18.65\00:49:20.36 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb 00:49:20.39\00:49:22.69 and by the word of their testimony, 00:49:22.72\00:49:24.66 and they did not love their lives to the death." 00:49:24.69\00:49:27.26 The blood that Jesus shed as the Lamb slain 00:49:27.30\00:49:29.56 from the foundation of the world, 00:49:29.60\00:49:31.27 the slaying was prefigured, He had to slay His blood. 00:49:31.30\00:49:34.84 I mean, He had to shed His blood, 00:49:34.87\00:49:36.24 He had to be the Lamb that was slain, 00:49:36.27\00:49:38.11 but that shed blood had to be declared worthy. 00:49:38.14\00:49:40.61 And Peter made it very clear. 00:49:40.64\00:49:42.11 He's the lamb without blemish and without spot. 00:49:42.14\00:49:45.55 But what did he complete? 00:49:45.58\00:49:49.18 Why did he have to be declared worthy? 00:49:49.22\00:49:52.59 There was something that happened there 00:49:52.62\00:49:53.96 that sometimes we often tend to forget. 00:49:53.99\00:49:56.19 Let's go to the Book of Daniel 9. 00:49:56.22\00:50:00.30 I'm now make a different turn here, Daniel 9. 00:50:00.33\00:50:05.27 The Jews were given 490 years to usher 00:50:05.30\00:50:09.10 in what Jesus had to do Himself. 00:50:09.14\00:50:11.71 Daniel 9:24, "Seventy weeks are determined 00:50:11.74\00:50:15.18 for your people and for your holy city," 00:50:15.21\00:50:17.81 look at this, "to finish the transgression, 00:50:17.85\00:50:20.92 to make an end of sins, 00:50:20.95\00:50:23.49 to make reconciliation for iniquity, 00:50:23.52\00:50:26.89 to bring in everlasting righteousness, 00:50:26.92\00:50:29.66 to seal up the prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy." 00:50:29.69\00:50:33.19 They were given 490 years to recalibrate the mission 00:50:33.23\00:50:37.17 that God had given to them. 00:50:37.20\00:50:38.60 They would be the ones 00:50:38.63\00:50:39.97 to usher in the holiest of holy, 00:50:40.00\00:50:42.40 that is Christ Himself to anoint Him 00:50:42.44\00:50:44.37 to declare Him worthy to be the lamb 00:50:44.41\00:50:46.47 that will be slain. 00:50:46.51\00:50:47.91 They were to finish the transgression, 00:50:47.94\00:50:49.61 make an end of sins, 00:50:49.64\00:50:50.98 make reconciliation for righteousness. 00:50:51.01\00:50:53.15 So when you Read John 19:30. 00:50:53.18\00:50:55.82 Let's go to John 19:30. 00:50:55.85\00:50:58.32 Okay, look at this. 00:50:58.35\00:51:00.19 When we read John 19:30. 00:51:00.22\00:51:03.66 Let me show you what these words mean. 00:51:03.69\00:51:05.99 "So when Jesus had received the sour wine, 00:51:06.03\00:51:08.93 He said, 'It is finished.' 00:51:08.96\00:51:12.77 And bowed His head, He gave up His Spirit," 00:51:12.80\00:51:16.20 or as the Bible says in the King James, 00:51:16.24\00:51:17.57 gave up the ghost. 00:51:17.61\00:51:18.94 When he said, it is finished, what is finished? 00:51:18.97\00:51:21.41 Finished the transgressions, He made an end to sin. 00:51:21.44\00:51:24.98 And He made, He now became the one 00:51:25.01\00:51:26.95 who reconcile those who are bound in iniquity, 00:51:26.98\00:51:32.32 and he can now bring in everlasting righteousness. 00:51:32.35\00:51:35.32 When he said, it is finished. 00:51:35.36\00:51:36.69 What was he saying? 00:51:36.73\00:51:38.06 John 4:34, I'll go ahead and read it. 00:51:38.09\00:51:40.76 "Jesus said to them, 00:51:40.80\00:51:42.13 'My food is to do the will of Him 00:51:42.16\00:51:44.37 who sent me and to finish His work." 00:51:44.40\00:51:47.90 And then John 17:4, "I have glorified you on earth, 00:51:47.94\00:51:51.81 I have finished the work, which you have given me to do." 00:51:51.84\00:51:55.44 When Jesus died on the cross, 00:51:55.48\00:51:57.05 the work of redemption was completed. 00:51:57.08\00:51:59.85 Now watch this, the work of redemption, 00:51:59.88\00:52:01.98 the blood that needed to be shed, 00:52:02.02\00:52:03.65 the lamb that needed to be slain was offered. 00:52:03.69\00:52:05.99 The sacrificial system came to an end, 00:52:06.02\00:52:08.72 the perfect sacrifice, the righteous blood, 00:52:08.76\00:52:11.93 the only one declared worthy was now uplifted 00:52:11.96\00:52:15.10 before the Father, 00:52:15.13\00:52:16.46 and declared you all alone are worthy. 00:52:16.50\00:52:18.53 That's why they sang the song of Moses and the lamb. 00:52:18.57\00:52:21.27 So the question is why a mediatorial work? 00:52:21.30\00:52:25.64 Now let's see. 00:52:25.67\00:52:27.38 Let's go to 1 John 2:1-2, 00:52:27.41\00:52:32.61 why a mediatorial work? 00:52:32.65\00:52:34.78 What you have to keep in mind, friends, 00:52:34.82\00:52:36.72 is that we talked about justification, 00:52:36.75\00:52:40.89 sanctification, and glorification. 00:52:40.92\00:52:44.59 Between sanctification and glorification, 00:52:44.63\00:52:47.76 why does the Lord have to continue to minister? 00:52:47.80\00:52:50.37 Because we're not perfect yet. 00:52:50.40\00:52:52.43 Because we're not complete yet. 00:52:52.47\00:52:54.14 We are still growing in grace. 00:52:54.17\00:52:56.20 We are still being saved in that relationship of grace 00:52:56.24\00:53:00.11 that covers the frailty of our humanity. 00:53:00.14\00:53:02.94 In 1 John 2:1-2 points this out, 00:53:02.98\00:53:05.68 why is the Lord 00:53:05.71\00:53:07.42 still in the work of our mediator? 00:53:07.45\00:53:10.35 My little children, 00:53:10.39\00:53:11.72 1 John 2:1-2, "My little children, 00:53:11.75\00:53:14.22 these things I write to you, so that you may not sin." 00:53:14.26\00:53:18.76 However, "If anyone sins, 00:53:18.79\00:53:21.20 we have an Advocate with the Father, 00:53:21.23\00:53:25.83 Jesus Christ the righteous." 00:53:25.87\00:53:28.70 What role is He playing, 00:53:28.74\00:53:30.37 and He himself is the propitiation 00:53:30.41\00:53:32.61 for our sins, 00:53:32.64\00:53:34.04 and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 00:53:34.08\00:53:38.98 This beautiful picture of redemption 00:53:39.01\00:53:41.68 from the Garden of Eden, 00:53:41.72\00:53:43.05 to the Second Coming of Christ, 00:53:43.08\00:53:44.55 there's a lamb in the middle, 00:53:44.59\00:53:46.02 that lamb when He shed His blood, 00:53:46.05\00:53:48.26 he covered and became the surety 00:53:48.29\00:53:51.03 for every sacrifice 00:53:51.06\00:53:52.83 that was performed in the Old Testament. 00:53:52.86\00:53:55.03 He became the surety for everyone 00:53:55.06\00:53:57.17 who would ever confess their sins from His death 00:53:57.20\00:53:59.37 until the coming of Christ, 00:53:59.40\00:54:01.00 and therefore His work is necessary. 00:54:01.04\00:54:03.51 He's continuing to mediate in our behalf. 00:54:03.54\00:54:06.17 And that's why Romans 5:6-10, let me try to get this in here. 00:54:06.21\00:54:09.88 What it says, "For when we were still without strength, 00:54:09.91\00:54:12.78 in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 00:54:12.81\00:54:15.05 For scarcely for a righteous man 00:54:15.08\00:54:16.65 will one die, yet perhaps for a good man 00:54:16.69\00:54:19.59 someone would even dare to die. 00:54:19.62\00:54:21.76 But God demonstrated His own love toward us, 00:54:21.79\00:54:25.19 in that while we were still sinners, 00:54:25.23\00:54:27.60 Christ died for us." 00:54:27.63\00:54:28.96 But now verse 9, "Much more then, 00:54:29.00\00:54:31.53 having now been justified by His blood, 00:54:31.57\00:54:34.47 we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 00:54:34.50\00:54:37.57 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God 00:54:37.61\00:54:41.28 through the death of His Son, 00:54:41.31\00:54:43.35 much more, having been reconciled, 00:54:43.38\00:54:47.02 we shall be saved by His life." 00:54:47.05\00:54:50.12 What life? 00:54:50.15\00:54:51.65 As we sit here today, 00:54:51.69\00:54:53.56 our mediator ever liveth to make intercession for us. 00:54:53.59\00:54:57.66 And now we can come by Him boldly 00:54:57.69\00:55:01.50 to the throne of grace, 00:55:01.53\00:55:02.90 that we might obtain mercy 00:55:02.93\00:55:04.30 and find grace to help in time of need. 00:55:04.33\00:55:06.74 His work was finished at the cross, 00:55:06.77\00:55:08.57 but He is still forgiving us until we are fully glorified 00:55:08.60\00:55:12.31 in the perfection of His righteousness. 00:55:12.34\00:55:14.64 Amen. Thank you so much. 00:55:14.68\00:55:16.81 Praise Lord for His high priestly ministry. 00:55:16.85\00:55:18.98 Praise God for the sanctuary. 00:55:19.01\00:55:21.02 The New Covenant sanctuary, what a gift. 00:55:21.05\00:55:23.08 Thanks so much, Pastor John and Pastor Johnny, 00:55:23.12\00:55:26.22 Sister Shelley and Pastor Ryan, 00:55:26.25\00:55:27.86 thank you all for sharing. 00:55:27.89\00:55:29.22 I want to give each one of you a moment 00:55:29.26\00:55:30.59 to share a closing thought. 00:55:30.63\00:55:31.96 Yeah, I think Isaiah 53:5 is probably sums all this up. 00:55:31.99\00:55:35.96 It's been read a couple of times, 00:55:36.00\00:55:37.33 but I just want to close with that. 00:55:37.37\00:55:39.03 But He who, He was wounded for our transgressions, 00:55:39.07\00:55:41.84 He was bruised for our iniquities, 00:55:41.87\00:55:43.77 the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, 00:55:43.81\00:55:47.04 and by his stripes, we're healed. 00:55:47.08\00:55:49.08 Praise God for that sacrifice. Amen and amen. 00:55:49.11\00:55:52.51 The lesson I presented was substitution. 00:55:52.55\00:55:56.89 When you accept Christ as your Savior, 00:55:56.92\00:56:00.09 and let Him be your substitution, 00:56:00.12\00:56:02.16 He will deliver you from the guilt of sin 00:56:02.19\00:56:05.39 paying the penalty. 00:56:05.43\00:56:07.10 He delivers you from the grasp of sin. 00:56:07.13\00:56:10.30 He will deliver you and restore your relationship 00:56:10.33\00:56:15.10 reconciling you to God. 00:56:15.14\00:56:17.51 He will make you righteous by faith. 00:56:17.54\00:56:21.84 He will give you access to God, and He gives us a certain 00:56:21.88\00:56:26.78 future with God. 00:56:26.82\00:56:28.35 Amen. Amen. 00:56:28.38\00:56:29.72 Jesus Christ so that all could have... 00:56:29.75\00:56:32.29 He died so that all could have the opportunity to be saved. 00:56:32.32\00:56:36.19 The door is open. 00:56:36.22\00:56:37.99 The mercy of God is still available 00:56:38.03\00:56:39.66 to each and every one of us. 00:56:39.69\00:56:41.13 And I hope you take advantage of the opportunity 00:56:41.16\00:56:43.57 that God has given you, Jesus Christ, 00:56:43.60\00:56:45.37 as our high priest is waiting for you. 00:56:45.40\00:56:46.90 That's right. 00:56:46.94\00:56:48.27 I'm so glad you mentioned the door. 00:56:48.30\00:56:49.64 I was looking right at that text in John 10:1, 00:56:49.67\00:56:51.74 I am the door if you climb up 00:56:51.77\00:56:53.34 any other way you are a thief and a robber. 00:56:53.38\00:56:55.38 John 14:6, what is our ministering priests 00:56:55.41\00:56:59.08 doing now? 00:56:59.11\00:57:00.45 He is opening the way for us to come into the presence 00:57:00.48\00:57:03.28 of the Father by faith. 00:57:03.32\00:57:05.42 He says, "I am the way, the truth and the life. 00:57:05.45\00:57:09.06 No one comes to the Father except through me." 00:57:09.09\00:57:13.13 Today, you can come through Christ Jesus to the Father, 00:57:13.16\00:57:17.07 and receive forgiveness for your sins. 00:57:17.10\00:57:18.80 Amen. Thank you all so much. 00:57:18.83\00:57:21.34 I'm reminded of that scripture today, 00:57:21.37\00:57:23.20 if you will hear His voice, do not harden your heart. 00:57:23.24\00:57:27.54 I want to close with this scripture. 00:57:27.58\00:57:28.91 This is Ephesians 2, 00:57:28.94\00:57:30.45 I was reminded of it as the panel was discussing. 00:57:30.48\00:57:32.68 Ephesians 2:12, "At that time, you were without Christ." 00:57:32.71\00:57:37.19 Have you felt like you were without Christ. 00:57:37.22\00:57:39.09 "Being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel 00:57:39.12\00:57:41.76 and strangers from the covenants of promise, 00:57:41.79\00:57:45.13 having no hope without God in this world. 00:57:45.16\00:57:48.73 But now in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off 00:57:48.76\00:57:54.30 have been brought near by the blood of Christ." 00:57:54.34\00:57:57.97 He is our peace and has broken down that 00:57:58.01\00:58:00.11 middle wall of separation. 00:58:00.14\00:58:02.11 Praise God for that. 00:58:02.14\00:58:03.71 Join us next week lesson 12 for Covenant Faith. 00:58:03.75\00:58:07.72
