Amen. 00:03:03.21\00:03:05.95 This week, Abraham's Seed, we look, we identify the role 00:03:05.98\00:03:10.79 of God's true Israel. 00:03:10.82\00:03:12.79 And all the way down to us today. 00:03:12.82\00:03:16.02 We look at those covenant promises 00:03:16.06\00:03:18.23 that were made. 00:03:18.26\00:03:19.59 We look at the conditions of those promises, 00:03:19.63\00:03:22.56 the results of their disobedience, 00:03:22.60\00:03:25.47 or their broken relationship with God. 00:03:25.50\00:03:29.00 We look at the remnant that chose to remain true 00:03:29.04\00:03:31.81 to the covenant and the call extended 00:03:31.84\00:03:33.71 to you and I to be His representatives to the world. 00:03:33.74\00:03:37.58 In fact, that call is found in our memory text. 00:03:37.61\00:03:40.38 So if you want to go there, we are in 1 Peter 2:9, 00:03:40.42\00:03:44.49 "But you are a chosen generation, 00:03:44.52\00:03:46.96 a royal priesthood, a holy nation, 00:03:46.99\00:03:49.49 a peculiar people, that you should show 00:03:49.52\00:03:52.16 for the praises of him who called you out of darkness 00:03:52.19\00:03:54.86 into his marvelous light." 00:03:54.90\00:03:58.33 The lesson opened on Sabbath with a cute story. 00:03:58.37\00:04:01.40 It talked about a clock 00:04:01.44\00:04:03.00 that was in a certain jeweler's window 00:04:03.04\00:04:05.11 in a certain city. 00:04:05.14\00:04:06.71 And when the schoolchildren, Pastor Ryan, 00:04:06.74\00:04:09.11 would go to school, they would look at the clock 00:04:09.14\00:04:11.11 in the window and they would make sure 00:04:11.15\00:04:13.42 they were on time for school. 00:04:13.45\00:04:15.15 And when the business people maybe they had 00:04:15.18\00:04:16.92 a certain business appointment, 00:04:16.95\00:04:18.29 they would look and check the clock. 00:04:18.32\00:04:20.59 Now this had to be a long time ago 00:04:20.62\00:04:22.32 because nowadays you just look at your cell phone, 00:04:22.36\00:04:24.23 but I guess they would look at the clock 00:04:24.26\00:04:25.76 and check the time. 00:04:25.79\00:04:27.13 Well, one day, the clock stopped. 00:04:27.16\00:04:30.43 And the people going by didn't know 00:04:30.47\00:04:33.00 that the clock had stopped. 00:04:33.03\00:04:34.47 And so the children thought, "Oh, we got plenty of time 00:04:34.50\00:04:36.81 before we get to school." 00:04:36.84\00:04:38.17 So they loitered on their way 00:04:38.21\00:04:39.64 and the business people thought, 00:04:39.67\00:04:41.01 "Oh, we have time before we get to our function." 00:04:41.04\00:04:43.58 And they took time as well. 00:04:43.61\00:04:45.68 You see they thought 00:04:45.71\00:04:47.05 they had more time than they did. 00:04:47.08\00:04:49.35 Israel and by extension you and I the Church of God 00:04:49.38\00:04:52.82 are called to be the spiritual "clock" 00:04:52.85\00:04:56.83 of the world. 00:04:56.86\00:04:58.19 We are called to identify the times 00:04:58.23\00:05:01.16 in which we live, and get people ready 00:05:01.20\00:05:04.73 for that soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:05:04.77\00:05:08.07 On Sunday, we look at Above All People. 00:05:08.10\00:05:12.37 Our opening scripture is Deuteronomy 7:6. 00:05:12.41\00:05:16.11 If you want to look at Deuteronomy 7:6, 00:05:16.14\00:05:19.15 "For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, 00:05:19.18\00:05:22.25 the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people 00:05:22.28\00:05:25.45 for Himself, a special treasure 00:05:25.49\00:05:28.49 above all peoples on the face of the earth." 00:05:28.52\00:05:31.79 That word special treasure in Hebrew 00:05:31.83\00:05:33.83 means valued property, Ryan, or peculiar treasure, 00:05:33.86\00:05:39.37 they were called to be a special treasure, 00:05:39.40\00:05:41.64 not just a great people, they were called to be 00:05:41.67\00:05:45.17 a great people above anyone else on the earth. 00:05:45.21\00:05:49.41 What does it say above all people? 00:05:49.44\00:05:52.88 So I want to ask you, why was Israel chosen? 00:05:52.91\00:05:55.22 Why were they chosen above anyone else? 00:05:55.25\00:05:59.62 Was it because they were stronger 00:05:59.65\00:06:01.09 than the other nations? 00:06:01.12\00:06:02.52 Probably not. 00:06:02.56\00:06:03.89 Was it because they were richer than the other nations? 00:06:03.93\00:06:06.16 Or more good looking than the other nations? 00:06:06.19\00:06:09.03 Maybe more intellectual? 00:06:09.06\00:06:11.13 Was it because they were more gifted or talented? 00:06:11.17\00:06:13.44 These are the reasons that today in society, 00:06:13.47\00:06:16.00 why we choose people, right? 00:06:16.04\00:06:17.37 We say, "Oh, they're gifted. 00:06:17.41\00:06:19.01 Oh, they run in certain social circles. 00:06:19.04\00:06:21.18 Oh, they might have talents that I think I could use." 00:06:21.21\00:06:24.35 So we look at people with a different eye 00:06:24.38\00:06:27.65 than God looks at people. 00:06:27.68\00:06:30.09 Were they chosen because they were going 00:06:30.12\00:06:31.99 to obey better 00:06:32.02\00:06:33.36 or because they were going to respond more? 00:06:33.39\00:06:35.42 Why was Israel chosen? 00:06:35.46\00:06:37.26 I'd submit to you that there were five reasons 00:06:37.29\00:06:39.03 why Israel was chosen. 00:06:39.06\00:06:40.40 Reason number one. 00:06:40.43\00:06:42.10 They were chosen because God loved them. 00:06:42.13\00:06:45.57 Deuteronomy 7:6-8. 00:06:45.60\00:06:48.90 Deuteronomy 7:6-8, we just read 6 about being a holy people 00:06:48.94\00:06:52.94 to the Lord, being a special treasure 00:06:52.97\00:06:55.01 above all the earth. 00:06:55.04\00:06:57.31 Now pick it up in verse 7, "The Lord did not set His love 00:06:57.35\00:07:00.55 on you nor choose you because you were more in number 00:07:00.58\00:07:03.85 than any other people, 00:07:03.89\00:07:05.22 for you were the least of all the peoples, 00:07:05.25\00:07:08.92 but because the Lord loves you." 00:07:08.96\00:07:11.86 Stop right there. 00:07:11.89\00:07:13.23 They were chosen because they were loved. 00:07:13.26\00:07:15.66 Not only that reason number two, 00:07:15.70\00:07:17.87 they were chosen because God always keeps His word. 00:07:17.90\00:07:22.57 Keep reading, we're in verse 8. 00:07:22.60\00:07:24.77 They were chosen not just because the Lord loves you 00:07:24.81\00:07:27.18 which they were chosen because He loved them. 00:07:27.21\00:07:29.71 "And because He would keep the oath which He swore 00:07:29.74\00:07:33.95 to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out 00:07:33.98\00:07:36.65 with a mighty hand, 00:07:36.69\00:07:38.02 and redeemed you from the house of bondage, 00:07:38.05\00:07:39.75 from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt." 00:07:39.79\00:07:42.46 You see, God had made a promise to Abraham. 00:07:42.49\00:07:44.43 It wasn't just made to the children of Israel 00:07:44.46\00:07:46.13 there at Sinai. 00:07:46.16\00:07:47.50 God had made a promise to Abraham 00:07:47.53\00:07:49.73 that He would make up him a great nation 00:07:49.76\00:07:52.10 and in him all nations of the earth would be blessed. 00:07:52.13\00:07:56.60 God, He always keeps His word. 00:07:56.64\00:07:58.91 Numbers 23:19 says, "God is not a man, that He should lie, 00:07:58.94\00:08:03.18 nor is He a son of man, that He should repent. 00:08:03.21\00:08:07.18 Has He said, and is He not going to do it? 00:08:07.22\00:08:09.82 Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?" 00:08:09.85\00:08:14.32 Another way it's put is in Joshua 21:45, 00:08:14.36\00:08:20.50 "Not one word failed of any good thing 00:08:20.53\00:08:23.77 which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. 00:08:23.80\00:08:26.60 All came to pass." 00:08:26.63\00:08:29.00 Not one promise that the Lord made 00:08:29.04\00:08:31.17 and I know Shelley, we always quote 1 Corinthians 1:20 00:08:31.21\00:08:34.44 or the 2 Corinthians 1:20. 00:08:34.48\00:08:36.14 "All His promises are Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus." 00:08:36.18\00:08:42.42 Not one promise that God made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 00:08:42.45\00:08:46.52 Not one promise that He made the nation of Israel failed. 00:08:46.55\00:08:50.43 Why? 00:08:50.46\00:08:51.79 Because God, He always keeps His word. 00:08:51.83\00:08:55.50 Reason number three. I like this one. 00:08:55.53\00:08:59.00 Go with me to Ezekiel reason number three. 00:08:59.03\00:09:02.07 God delights in taking what other people cast aside. 00:09:02.10\00:09:06.88 Ezekiel 16, we're going to pick it up with verse 3. 00:09:06.91\00:09:11.88 Ezekiel 16:3, "Thus says the Lord God to Jerusalem. 00:09:11.91\00:09:16.55 'Your birth and your nativity are from the land of Canaan, 00:09:16.58\00:09:19.35 your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 00:09:19.39\00:09:22.16 As for your nativity, on the day you were born 00:09:22.19\00:09:26.26 your navel cord, it wasn't cut, 00:09:26.29\00:09:28.66 nor were you washed in water to cleanse you, 00:09:28.70\00:09:31.87 you were not rubbed with salt 00:09:31.90\00:09:34.20 nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. 00:09:34.24\00:09:36.57 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, 00:09:36.60\00:09:39.94 to have compassion on you, but you were thrown out 00:09:39.97\00:09:43.08 into the open field, when you yourself 00:09:43.11\00:09:45.65 were loathed on the day you were born." 00:09:45.68\00:09:49.22 Let's stop there for a second. 00:09:49.25\00:09:50.59 The word loathed in Hebrew denotes something 00:09:50.62\00:09:53.99 that's hated because it's unclean. 00:09:54.02\00:09:56.42 It'd be what we would call dung. 00:09:56.46\00:10:00.33 Loathed, Israel was loathed. 00:10:00.36\00:10:02.86 Israel was not a wanted child. 00:10:02.90\00:10:05.47 None of the usual birthing rights were observed. 00:10:05.50\00:10:09.20 The umbilical cord wasn't cut. 00:10:09.24\00:10:11.31 The baby wasn't washed with water for cleansing 00:10:11.34\00:10:13.78 nor rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in cloths 00:10:13.81\00:10:15.81 nor pitied or looked on with compassion. 00:10:15.84\00:10:17.71 Instead, it was cast out. 00:10:17.75\00:10:20.65 And yet what did God do? 00:10:20.68\00:10:22.18 Verse 6, "When I passed by you, I saw you struggling 00:10:22.22\00:10:26.96 in your own blood, and I said to you in your blood, 'Live!' 00:10:26.99\00:10:31.99 Yes, I said to you in your blood, 'Live!'" 00:10:32.03\00:10:34.20 And so God called the unwanted child, 00:10:34.23\00:10:37.27 you could say, what nobody else wanted, 00:10:37.30\00:10:40.04 who everybody had cast aside 00:10:40.07\00:10:42.30 and he said, that's the one I want. 00:10:42.34\00:10:44.17 You are the one I want. 00:10:44.21\00:10:47.18 And God chose not only that, but to allow Israel to grow up 00:10:47.21\00:10:51.51 and then he entered into covenant with her 00:10:51.55\00:10:54.18 and he said, "I'm going to marry you." 00:10:54.22\00:10:56.08 Let's look at verse 7. 00:10:56.12\00:10:58.09 "I made you thrive like a plant in the field, and you grew, 00:10:58.12\00:11:01.02 matured, and became very beautiful." 00:11:01.06\00:11:03.22 So Israel, the unwanted child 00:11:03.26\00:11:05.13 that God said He wanted grew up. 00:11:05.16\00:11:07.63 Verse 8, "I passed by you again and looked upon you, 00:11:07.66\00:11:11.10 indeed your time was the time of love, 00:11:11.13\00:11:13.13 I spread my wing over you and covered your nakedness." 00:11:13.17\00:11:16.37 That is a marriage proposal. 00:11:16.40\00:11:18.51 When God spreads His skirt like Boaz and Ruth, 00:11:18.54\00:11:21.98 we see this covenant marriage taking place. 00:11:22.01\00:11:24.55 It says, "I spread My wing over you 00:11:24.58\00:11:26.85 and covered your nakedness. 00:11:26.88\00:11:28.22 I swore an oath to you and entered into covenant 00:11:28.25\00:11:30.45 with you, and you became Mine." 00:11:30.49\00:11:33.66 What does God do next? 00:11:33.69\00:11:35.06 Number four, He equips and prepares those people 00:11:35.09\00:11:38.69 whom He has chosen. 00:11:38.73\00:11:40.43 So in other words, you might feel, I'm unwanted. 00:11:40.46\00:11:44.33 Nobody wants me. 00:11:44.37\00:11:45.70 Nobody cares about me and calls us, 00:11:45.73\00:11:48.24 that's the child I want. 00:11:48.27\00:11:49.60 I want you as part of My kingdom. 00:11:49.64\00:11:52.04 And not only that, He will equip you 00:11:52.07\00:11:54.11 and He will prepare you 00:11:54.14\00:11:55.48 because He has chosen you, as His child. 00:11:55.51\00:11:58.55 Let's look at verse 9. 00:11:58.58\00:12:00.32 Ezekiel 16:9, "I washed you with water." 00:12:00.35\00:12:03.65 Reminds me of the washing of the water of the word. 00:12:03.69\00:12:06.55 God says what? I give you My word. 00:12:06.59\00:12:09.86 "And I thoroughly washed off your blood, 00:12:09.89\00:12:11.89 and I anointed you with oil." 00:12:11.93\00:12:14.10 It reminds me of Samuel anointing David 00:12:14.13\00:12:16.56 and how the Spirit of the Lord came upon Him. 00:12:16.60\00:12:19.30 God says, "I'm giving you My word, 00:12:19.33\00:12:21.67 and I'm giving you the Holy Spirit." 00:12:21.70\00:12:24.47 "I clothed you in embroidered cloth 00:12:24.51\00:12:26.57 and gave you sandals of badger skin. 00:12:26.61\00:12:28.34 I clothed you with fine linen." 00:12:28.38\00:12:30.41 It reminds me of the fine linen 00:12:30.45\00:12:32.31 that is Christ's righteousness 00:12:32.35\00:12:33.98 that we have the privilege of putting on. 00:12:34.02\00:12:36.42 God says, "I'm going to give you My word. 00:12:36.45\00:12:38.45 I'm going to fill you with My Holy Spirit. 00:12:38.49\00:12:41.32 I'm going to cloth you with My righteous white garments." 00:12:41.36\00:12:44.79 And you, you're going to become royalty. 00:12:44.83\00:12:47.76 Jump down to the end of verse 13. 00:12:47.80\00:12:49.53 "You were exceedingly beautiful, 00:12:49.56\00:12:51.37 and succeeded to royalty. 00:12:51.40\00:12:53.50 Your fame went out among the nations 00:12:53.54\00:12:55.40 because of your beauty, 00:12:55.44\00:12:56.81 for it was perfect through My splendor 00:12:56.84\00:12:59.67 which I had bestowed on you, says the Lord." 00:12:59.71\00:13:02.81 So Israel became beautiful because of God. 00:13:02.84\00:13:06.65 The next verse to me is very tragic. 00:13:06.68\00:13:08.95 Verse 15, "You trusted in your own beauty, 00:13:08.98\00:13:13.32 you played the harlot because of your fame, 00:13:13.36\00:13:16.69 and poured out your harlotry 00:13:16.73\00:13:19.69 on everyone passing by who would have it." 00:13:19.73\00:13:23.03 Why did they walk away from God? 00:13:23.06\00:13:24.73 Because they became proud in who they were. 00:13:24.77\00:13:27.70 They became proud in what God had given to them. 00:13:27.74\00:13:31.81 And they began to think that it was all about them, 00:13:31.84\00:13:35.14 and the truth that they thought was entrusted to them. 00:13:35.18\00:13:41.18 You see, we are never, never to think we are special 00:13:41.22\00:13:44.85 because we have truth. 00:13:44.89\00:13:46.76 That truth is extended to everyone. 00:13:46.79\00:13:49.26 We are never to think we are special 00:13:49.29\00:13:50.99 because we've been chosen by God, 00:13:51.03\00:13:52.83 that call to be a child of God is extended to everyone. 00:13:52.86\00:13:56.53 We are never to think we are somehow wanted 00:13:56.56\00:13:59.27 because He wants everyone. 00:13:59.30\00:14:02.74 God calls everyone not because we're special or strong 00:14:02.77\00:14:06.47 or rich or good looking or gifted. 00:14:06.51\00:14:08.38 He wants everyone as His covenant child. 00:14:08.41\00:14:11.41 Praise the Lord. 00:14:11.45\00:14:13.05 Man, that was a beautiful edification of that. 00:14:13.08\00:14:15.82 Appreciate that, Jill. Thank you so much. 00:14:15.85\00:14:17.55 It sets us up nicely for Monday's lesson, 00:14:17.59\00:14:20.59 which, again, as I said, in the opener, 00:14:20.62\00:14:22.82 we're going to be talking about the Lord's real estate. 00:14:22.86\00:14:25.86 This is talking about God's land, 00:14:25.89\00:14:27.70 His land deal that He made with the children of Israel, 00:14:27.73\00:14:31.33 and you know, as Jill was going through Ezekiel 16 00:14:31.37\00:14:34.74 just then or excuse me, yeah, Ezekiel 16, you know, 00:14:34.77\00:14:37.87 it just reminds me of just how much compassion, 00:14:37.91\00:14:40.54 how much love, how much mercy, how much patience 00:14:40.58\00:14:44.18 that God had with Israel because we're talking 00:14:44.21\00:14:47.25 about a nation that, of course, we may get into this later 00:14:47.28\00:14:50.15 as we get into the covenant that God made with Israel 00:14:50.19\00:14:52.82 and then, you know, from Moses time onward. 00:14:52.85\00:14:55.22 But again, from like, 1446 BC all the way to 606 BC talking 00:14:55.26\00:15:00.40 about more than 840 years of on and off rebellion, 00:15:00.43\00:15:04.53 and God is still there with them 00:15:04.57\00:15:06.53 all the way through. 00:15:06.57\00:15:07.90 And in the midst of all of this, 00:15:07.94\00:15:09.67 we see that God made a promise to them. 00:15:09.70\00:15:12.27 And we know that God keeps His promises. 00:15:12.31\00:15:14.28 But those deals, those promises, in this case, 00:15:14.31\00:15:17.05 a land deal did not come without certain conditions. 00:15:17.08\00:15:20.15 And so I'm gonna go to Genesis Chapter 35. 00:15:20.18\00:15:22.32 This comes within the context of the conversation 00:15:22.35\00:15:25.92 that the Lord is having with Jacob. 00:15:25.95\00:15:28.82 And He's reminding Jacob of the promise that he made 00:15:28.86\00:15:31.93 with Abraham and Isaac before Him. 00:15:31.96\00:15:34.33 And it just so happens to deal with this special land 00:15:34.36\00:15:37.50 that God promised that He would give to Abraham to Isaac 00:15:37.53\00:15:40.67 and now Jacob and their descendants. 00:15:40.70\00:15:42.87 So Genesis 35:12, the Bible says, 00:15:42.90\00:15:46.44 "The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac 00:15:46.47\00:15:49.81 I give to you, and to your descendants 00:15:49.84\00:15:53.31 after you I give this land." 00:15:53.35\00:15:56.89 And so as I said before Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, 00:15:56.92\00:15:59.32 and even Joseph himself mentions this land 00:15:59.35\00:16:02.79 on his deathbed there in Genesis Chapter 50. 00:16:02.82\00:16:05.03 There's just this constant reminder through this journey 00:16:05.06\00:16:08.03 from generation to generation to generation that, 00:16:08.06\00:16:10.13 "Hey, God has said 00:16:10.17\00:16:11.50 He's going to give us this land." 00:16:11.53\00:16:12.87 And God said, Yep, I'm gonna give you that land." 00:16:12.90\00:16:15.07 Only if, right, there was some promises there that God gave, 00:16:15.10\00:16:19.04 but they came with conditions. 00:16:19.07\00:16:20.88 In fact, if we go to Deuteronomy 28, 00:16:20.91\00:16:22.81 just to be reminded here, Deuteronomy 28, 00:16:22.84\00:16:25.61 that's that famous blessings and curses chapter 00:16:25.65\00:16:28.75 where the Lord just lays it out. 00:16:28.78\00:16:30.49 I mean, plain and simple. 00:16:30.52\00:16:31.85 He says, "Look, you with Me, you honor My covenant, 00:16:31.89\00:16:34.66 you honor, you obey Me, these are all the blessings 00:16:34.69\00:16:37.43 that I'm going to bestow upon you, 00:16:37.46\00:16:38.96 as unworthy as you are, 00:16:38.99\00:16:40.33 I'm going to bestow these upon you. 00:16:40.36\00:16:41.70 But again, if you don't, then you have 00:16:41.73\00:16:43.50 to endure these curses." 00:16:43.53\00:16:44.87 So Deuteronomy Chapter 28, we're going to read verse 1, 00:16:44.90\00:16:47.17 and verse 15, just as a reminder of the conditions 00:16:47.20\00:16:50.57 that God gave that is also in connection with this land deal. 00:16:50.61\00:16:54.61 Deuteronomy 21:1 says, "Now it shall come to pass," 00:16:54.64\00:16:58.05 excuse me, I said, 21, 28:1. 00:16:58.08\00:17:01.02 "Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey 00:17:01.05\00:17:04.09 the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully 00:17:04.12\00:17:07.16 all His commandments which I command you today, 00:17:07.19\00:17:11.16 that the Lord your God will set you high 00:17:11.19\00:17:13.56 above all nations of the earth." 00:17:13.60\00:17:16.46 And so you can just read through 00:17:16.50\00:17:17.90 that chapter from verse 1, 00:17:17.93\00:17:19.57 all the way through to verse 14. 00:17:19.60\00:17:21.04 And God is just saying, I'm going to do this for you, 00:17:21.07\00:17:23.24 I'm going to make you this, I'm gonna bless you with this. 00:17:23.27\00:17:25.64 And so all of these blessings that He's pouring out to them, 00:17:25.67\00:17:29.04 but then you get to verse 15 and God says, 00:17:29.08\00:17:31.25 but here's the deal. 00:17:31.28\00:17:32.61 If you don't obey My voice, you don't keep My commandments. 00:17:32.65\00:17:35.35 Well, here's what He says, Deuteronomy 28:15, 00:17:35.38\00:17:38.62 "But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey 00:17:38.65\00:17:40.76 the voice of the Lord your God, 00:17:40.79\00:17:42.19 to observe carefully all His commandments 00:17:42.22\00:17:44.33 and His statutes which I command you today, 00:17:44.36\00:17:47.50 that all these curses will come upon you 00:17:47.53\00:17:50.70 and overtake you." 00:17:50.73\00:17:52.13 So was God transparent? He was very transparent. 00:17:52.17\00:17:55.17 He says, "Look, it's not that it's My will for these curses 00:17:55.20\00:17:58.27 to come upon you, but when you take yourself out 00:17:58.31\00:18:00.68 from under My protection, out from under My will, 00:18:00.71\00:18:03.65 out from under the covenant, the covenant relationship 00:18:03.68\00:18:05.75 that I want to have with you, 00:18:05.78\00:18:07.12 you're in full open communion now 00:18:07.15\00:18:09.55 to be attacked and to be basically given 00:18:09.58\00:18:11.72 into the hands of the enemy." 00:18:11.75\00:18:13.09 So this is what the enemy is gonna do to you. 00:18:13.12\00:18:15.09 And I'm gonna allow this to happen 00:18:15.12\00:18:16.46 because you chose it, but if you will, 00:18:16.49\00:18:18.19 if you will live in my covenant, 00:18:18.23\00:18:20.00 if you will obey My voice, obey My covenant, indeed, 00:18:20.03\00:18:22.76 and My commandments, 00:18:22.80\00:18:24.13 then I will bless you abundantly. 00:18:24.17\00:18:25.70 There's an interesting quote in today's lesson that comes 00:18:25.73\00:18:29.10 from The Pulpit Commentary from 1890, volume 3, page 439. 00:18:29.14\00:18:34.44 And this is what it says, speaking of the curses, 00:18:34.48\00:18:37.21 "These curses were largely, though not wholly, 00:18:37.25\00:18:40.92 brought about by simply giving sin scope 00:18:40.95\00:18:44.29 to work out its own evil results. 00:18:44.32\00:18:47.69 'He that soweth to his flesh shall 00:18:47.72\00:18:50.03 of his flesh reap corruption.' 00:18:50.06\00:18:51.96 Of course, quoting Galatians 6:8, 00:18:51.99\00:18:54.50 and he says, "Like water, 00:18:54.53\00:18:56.26 which, left to itself, will not cease running 00:18:56.30\00:18:59.53 till it has found its level, like a clock, 00:18:59.57\00:19:03.61 which left to itself, will not cease going 00:19:03.64\00:19:06.01 till it has run itself completely down, 00:19:06.04\00:19:09.31 like a tree, which is, left to grow, 00:19:09.34\00:19:11.51 cannot but bring forth its appropriate fruit. 00:19:11.55\00:19:15.15 So sin, He says, has a level to seek, 00:19:15.18\00:19:19.02 a course to run, a fruit to mature, 00:19:19.05\00:19:21.79 and the end of those things is death.'" 00:19:21.82\00:19:25.09 And this is essentially what God was trying to paint 00:19:25.13\00:19:27.46 this picture very clear for the people 00:19:27.50\00:19:30.00 that He dearly love as, Jill, 00:19:30.03\00:19:31.37 just brought up so clearly from Ezekiel 16, 00:19:31.40\00:19:33.74 God pouring out His heart and saying, 00:19:33.77\00:19:35.40 "You're My beloved people. 00:19:35.44\00:19:36.77 You are the ones that I love. 00:19:36.81\00:19:38.44 And I want to embrace you. 00:19:38.47\00:19:40.18 I want to protect you. I want to lead you. 00:19:40.21\00:19:41.71 I want to guide you. 00:19:41.74\00:19:43.08 I want you to be My special beacon of light 00:19:43.11\00:19:44.71 to the rest of the world." 00:19:44.75\00:19:46.08 But of course, we know the story of Israel, 00:19:46.11\00:19:48.25 they did not always fall in line with that agreement. 00:19:48.28\00:19:51.59 They did not always meet those conditions, 00:19:51.62\00:19:53.66 and they were quite rebellious throughout their history. 00:19:53.69\00:19:56.19 In fact, God could not have been more clear than 00:19:56.22\00:19:58.43 what we see right here in Leviticus 26:27-30. 00:19:58.46\00:20:02.60 Again, this is Leviticus 26:27-30. 00:20:02.63\00:20:05.80 This is in connection with this land deal God 00:20:05.83\00:20:08.94 is making a land deal. 00:20:08.97\00:20:10.31 Look, I want to bless you with this land. 00:20:10.34\00:20:11.67 But look, this is what happens if you don't meet 00:20:11.71\00:20:14.18 the requirements. 00:20:14.21\00:20:15.54 So Leviticus 26:27-30. 00:20:15.58\00:20:17.81 It says, and, excuse me, yes 27 through 30. 00:20:17.85\00:20:20.52 "And after all this, if you do not obey Me, 00:20:20.55\00:20:22.82 but walk contrary to Me, 00:20:22.85\00:20:24.25 then I also will walk contrary to you 00:20:24.29\00:20:26.72 in a fury, and I, even I, will chastise you seven times 00:20:26.76\00:20:30.96 for your sins. 00:20:30.99\00:20:32.33 You shall eat the flesh of your sons, 00:20:32.36\00:20:34.40 and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters. 00:20:34.43\00:20:36.00 I will destroy your high places, 00:20:36.03\00:20:38.10 cut down your incense altars, 00:20:38.13\00:20:41.07 and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms 00:20:41.10\00:20:44.01 of your idols, and My soul shall abhor you. 00:20:44.04\00:20:47.21 I will lay your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries 00:20:47.24\00:20:49.98 to desolation, and I will not smell the fragrance 00:20:50.01\00:20:52.81 of your sweet aromas. 00:20:52.85\00:20:54.78 I will bring the land to desolation," 00:20:54.82\00:20:56.58 here comes the land, 00:20:56.62\00:20:57.95 "I will bring the land to desolation, 00:20:57.99\00:20:59.39 and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it. 00:20:59.42\00:21:03.43 I will scatter you among the nations 00:21:03.46\00:21:05.26 and draw out a sword after you." 00:21:05.29\00:21:08.00 This is God being very clear, very frank about 00:21:08.03\00:21:11.30 what will happen if they do not follow Him 00:21:11.33\00:21:14.10 as His chosen people. 00:21:14.14\00:21:15.97 So what we can take away from this? 00:21:16.00\00:21:18.54 I think is a good, a nice little connective example 00:21:18.57\00:21:21.94 that we see in Israel we too also, okay? 00:21:21.98\00:21:26.01 We too also have a special land we are seeking to obtain, okay? 00:21:26.05\00:21:30.79 We cannot lose it once we are there. 00:21:30.82\00:21:34.09 Praise the Lord. 00:21:34.12\00:21:35.46 But like Israel, there are certain conditions 00:21:35.49\00:21:37.53 that must be met before we can get there. 00:21:37.56\00:21:40.66 I love that promise where Jesus says, 00:21:40.70\00:21:42.30 "I go to prepare a place for you." 00:21:42.33\00:21:43.77 It would be sad for Jesus to build Ryan a mansion 00:21:43.80\00:21:46.10 and Ryan don't make the requirements 00:21:46.13\00:21:50.01 to be able to fill that mansion, right? 00:21:50.04\00:21:52.07 And so I just want to just take the time left 00:21:52.11\00:21:54.38 about two minutes left here to just go through 00:21:54.41\00:21:56.95 what those requirements are. 00:21:56.98\00:21:58.51 There may be someone watching Sabbath School Panel 00:21:58.55\00:22:00.32 for the first time right now that says you know what, 00:22:00.35\00:22:02.18 I want to make sure that I meet that requirement 00:22:02.22\00:22:04.59 so that I can inherit that land, 00:22:04.62\00:22:06.62 that heavenly real estate 00:22:06.65\00:22:08.22 that God's has prepared for me that He wants to give to me. 00:22:08.26\00:22:11.13 Number one, I have three major points here 00:22:11.16\00:22:13.16 and to some this may sound elementary, 00:22:13.19\00:22:15.00 but you know what, we need to revisit the foundations here. 00:22:15.03\00:22:17.87 Number one, we must believe and trust 00:22:17.90\00:22:20.50 in the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:22:20.54\00:22:22.70 Pastor, I think you read this text last week. 00:22:22.74\00:22:24.54 I want to remind this again. 00:22:24.57\00:22:26.21 This is Acts 4:12, "Nor is there salvation 00:22:26.24\00:22:29.94 in any other way, for there is no other name 00:22:29.98\00:22:32.65 under heaven given among men 00:22:32.68\00:22:34.32 by which we must be saved." 00:22:34.35\00:22:37.79 Okay, only Jesus Christ, 00:22:37.82\00:22:39.59 there's people out there that's gonna say, 00:22:39.62\00:22:40.96 oh, there's more ways to heaven than just one. 00:22:40.99\00:22:42.82 No, no, no, Jesus Christ, you must believe and trust 00:22:42.86\00:22:46.23 in the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:22:46.26\00:22:47.60 That's the first thing. 00:22:47.63\00:22:48.96 Believe in Him and believe in what He has done for you. 00:22:49.00\00:22:51.23 Number two. 00:22:51.27\00:22:52.70 We must repent and allow God to cleanse us from our sins. 00:22:52.73\00:22:57.31 He wants to cleanse us from our sins. 00:22:57.34\00:22:59.47 Acts 2:37-38. 00:22:59.51\00:23:02.61 It says, "Now when we heard this, they were cut 00:23:02.64\00:23:04.41 to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, 00:23:04.45\00:23:07.25 'Men and brethren, what shall we do?' 00:23:07.28\00:23:09.62 Then Peter said to them, 00:23:09.65\00:23:10.99 'Repent, and let every one of you be baptized 00:23:11.02\00:23:12.85 in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ 00:23:12.89\00:23:14.62 for the remissions of your sins, 00:23:14.66\00:23:16.56 and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'" 00:23:16.59\00:23:19.83 So we must repent, we must confess, 00:23:19.86\00:23:22.23 and we must be cleansed of sin. 00:23:22.26\00:23:23.67 And of course, the journey doesn't stop there. 00:23:23.70\00:23:25.93 Number three, our third point we must remain committed 00:23:25.97\00:23:29.20 and obedient to the Lord and His commandments, 00:23:29.24\00:23:31.64 as a part of our ongoing 00:23:31.67\00:23:33.61 sanctifying relationship with Christ. 00:23:33.64\00:23:36.11 Of course, I love John 14:15, "If you love Me, 00:23:36.14\00:23:40.32 keep My commandments." 00:23:40.35\00:23:41.68 It's all based on love. 00:23:41.72\00:23:43.69 And, of course, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, 7-8. 00:23:43.72\00:23:48.69 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, 7-8. 00:23:48.72\00:23:50.96 And so here what it says, "For this is the will of God, 00:23:50.99\00:23:53.90 your sanctification, that you should abstain 00:23:53.93\00:23:56.30 from sexual immorality, that each of you should know 00:23:56.33\00:23:58.87 how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor. 00:23:58.90\00:24:02.60 For God did not call us to uncleanness, 00:24:02.64\00:24:05.17 but in holiness. 00:24:05.21\00:24:06.74 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, 00:24:06.78\00:24:08.98 but God, who has also given us the Holy Spirit." 00:24:09.01\00:24:12.41 That's the promise we have. 00:24:12.45\00:24:13.78 We can inherit the land today or soon and today we have 00:24:13.82\00:24:17.39 that promise that we can inherit it, 00:24:17.42\00:24:18.79 if only we will seek the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:24:18.82\00:24:21.52 Amen. Thank you so much, Pastor Ryan. 00:24:21.56\00:24:23.93 Land Deal, I love that. We're going to a better place. 00:24:23.96\00:24:26.90 We're going to take a short break, 00:24:26.93\00:24:28.26 we'll be right back. 00:24:28.30\00:24:29.80 Ever wish you could watch 00:24:35.57\00:24:36.91 a 3ABN Sabbath School Panel again, 00:24:36.94\00:24:39.07 or share it on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? 00:26:13.90\00:26:15.24 Because if you obey, if they are faithful, 00:26:15.27\00:26:17.87 they will receive all the blessings 00:26:17.91\00:26:19.97 of the covenant, but if they don't, 00:26:20.01\00:26:22.74 then that which is named in the covenant 00:26:22.78\00:26:26.35 will take place for the people of Israel, 00:26:26.38\00:26:28.72 for God's people. 00:26:28.75\00:26:30.12 So there is no what, you know, there are some groups they say, 00:26:30.15\00:26:36.19 "Once saved, always saved." 00:26:36.22\00:26:37.59 And that's a dangerous doctrine. 00:26:37.63\00:26:39.63 I want to say that right now. 00:26:39.66\00:26:41.00 It's a dangerous doctrine, which some people think 00:26:41.03\00:26:43.10 that once you accept the Lord Jesus Christ, 00:26:43.13\00:26:46.17 some you can walk away 00:26:46.20\00:26:47.70 and do whatever evil and everything will be fine. 00:26:47.74\00:26:51.44 No, God expects us to be faithful 00:26:51.47\00:26:54.71 all the days of our lives through His grace. 00:26:54.74\00:26:58.88 And that's why you see in Matthew 24, that He says, 00:26:58.91\00:27:01.32 "He who endures to the end the same shall be saved." 00:27:01.35\00:27:04.65 And so in the lesson here, 00:27:04.69\00:27:07.66 we see a question that is brought up. 00:27:07.69\00:27:10.83 Let's go to Genesis 6:5, and then we'll take you 00:27:10.86\00:27:13.40 to that question. 00:27:13.43\00:27:14.96 Genesis 6:5, we have mentioned this before. 00:27:15.00\00:27:18.50 But now, the lesson calls upon us 00:27:18.53\00:27:21.00 to bring a comparison between these verses. 00:27:21.04\00:27:24.01 In Genesis 6:5, a sad declaration is made, 00:27:24.04\00:27:29.08 "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man 00:27:29.11\00:27:32.31 was great in the earth, 00:27:32.35\00:27:33.85 and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart 00:27:33.88\00:27:37.32 was only evil continually." 00:27:37.35\00:27:40.96 So the question is, what do these verses say 00:27:40.99\00:27:44.83 about how important it is for us to control our thoughts? 00:27:44.86\00:27:50.43 You know, many thoughts come through our mind 00:27:50.47\00:27:53.47 throughout the day, hundreds of thoughts, 00:27:53.50\00:27:55.57 thousands of thoughts, and it is the devil's intent 00:27:55.60\00:27:59.74 and plan, an object to lead you astray 00:27:59.77\00:28:04.31 instead of you following the Lord. 00:28:04.35\00:28:07.22 We've heard expression such the devil doesn't care 00:28:07.25\00:28:11.89 which side of the boat you fall out as long as you fall out. 00:28:11.92\00:28:16.19 He will try to pull you from this side to that side, 00:28:16.22\00:28:20.46 but we must remain facing life looking 00:28:20.50\00:28:24.20 unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. 00:28:24.23\00:28:28.84 So when you look at God's covenant, you know, 00:28:28.87\00:28:31.64 when you think about the contracts 00:28:31.67\00:28:34.01 that people have today, the agreements 00:28:34.04\00:28:36.24 even when you have your phone, 00:28:36.28\00:28:37.61 we have a new software, 00:28:37.65\00:28:38.98 there an endless amount of words. 00:28:39.01\00:28:42.58 And some people say, press here, 00:28:42.62\00:28:45.62 if you agree, I don't know how many people read 00:28:45.65\00:28:48.49 through all those things. 00:28:48.52\00:28:49.86 I kind of skimmed through it. 00:28:49.89\00:28:51.49 And I said, "Well, I don't have time to read on all that." 00:28:51.53\00:28:53.66 Agree, you know, but I don't know 00:28:53.70\00:28:55.73 entirely what I'm agreeing to, but the Bible is clear. 00:28:55.76\00:28:59.13 God has everything in black and white. 00:28:59.17\00:29:01.04 And He tells you what to expect if you follow Him 00:29:01.07\00:29:04.71 and what to expect if you don't. 00:29:04.74\00:29:06.78 It is very clear, there's no tiny... 00:29:06.81\00:29:09.58 What is the name of that tiny writing the small print, 00:29:09.61\00:29:13.05 the fine print. 00:29:13.08\00:29:14.42 There's no fine print with God what you see is what you get, 00:29:14.45\00:29:17.25 very clear in the scriptures. 00:29:17.29\00:29:19.12 So I want to take you through some scriptures 00:29:19.15\00:29:21.42 because the thing is brought out 00:29:21.46\00:29:23.12 how is it that you can control your thoughts. 00:29:23.16\00:29:26.23 In Proverbs 4:23-27 are some words 00:29:26.26\00:29:32.03 that help us understand this. 00:29:32.07\00:29:33.94 It says, "Keep your heart with all diligence, 00:29:33.97\00:29:37.17 for out of it spring the issues of life." 00:29:37.21\00:29:40.94 There is a necessity of us co-operating with God 00:29:40.98\00:29:45.38 so that our heart can be kept in the hands of the Lord. 00:29:45.41\00:29:49.65 We place ourselves in the hands of the Lord. 00:29:49.68\00:29:51.72 In fact, the best thing we can do is to say, 00:29:51.75\00:29:54.76 Lord, take my will for I cannot even give it 00:29:54.79\00:29:57.96 to you, but can send for God 00:29:57.99\00:30:00.63 to take control of your thoughts. 00:30:00.66\00:30:02.70 It says in verse 24, "Put away from you a deceitful mouth," 00:30:02.73\00:30:06.97 choose to do this, 00:30:07.00\00:30:08.34 "and put perverse lips far from you. 00:30:08.37\00:30:11.07 Let your eyes look straight ahead, 00:30:11.11\00:30:13.38 and your eyelids look right before you. 00:30:13.41\00:30:16.24 Ponder the path of your feet, 00:30:16.28\00:30:18.51 and let all your ways be established. 00:30:18.55\00:30:21.82 Do not turn to the right or to the left, 00:30:21.85\00:30:24.92 remove your foot from evil." 00:30:24.95\00:30:27.36 This is our participation in the Lord continuing 00:30:27.39\00:30:32.06 that work of transformation in our lives. 00:30:32.09\00:30:36.10 In Colossians 1:27, there is a powerful scripture 00:30:36.13\00:30:40.10 that we must understand that is essential 00:30:40.14\00:30:42.90 for our survival in this world. 00:30:42.94\00:30:45.44 Colossians 1:27, "To them God willed to make known 00:30:45.47\00:30:50.31 what are the riches of the glory 00:30:50.35\00:30:53.15 of this mystery among the Gentiles, 00:30:53.18\00:30:55.98 which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." 00:30:56.02\00:31:01.66 This is what we need, 00:31:01.69\00:31:03.02 Christ in us, the hope of glory. 00:31:03.06\00:31:06.09 I'm going to read to you from the lesson, 00:31:06.13\00:31:08.53 a portion here that is sad, 00:31:08.56\00:31:11.57 but it's the reality of what happened. 00:31:11.60\00:31:13.10 God doesn't hide anything. 00:31:13.13\00:31:14.97 It's in the scriptures. You can read this. 00:31:15.00\00:31:17.67 I mean, when you get to the Book of Judges 00:31:17.71\00:31:19.17 there are, almost every chapter begins with 00:31:19.21\00:31:22.14 and the children of Israel 00:31:22.18\00:31:23.71 did evil in the sight of the Lord again. 00:31:23.75\00:31:26.25 Look at this message here. 00:31:26.28\00:31:28.48 "Unfortunately, the history of national Israel 00:31:28.52\00:31:31.35 was for the most part, a repeated pattern 00:31:31.39\00:31:34.02 of apostasy followed by divine judgments, 00:31:34.06\00:31:37.46 repentance, and a period of obedience. 00:31:37.49\00:31:40.60 Only briefly, under David and Solomon, 00:31:40.63\00:31:43.16 did they control the full extent of the promise? 00:31:43.20\00:31:46.84 Did they control the full extent 00:31:46.87\00:31:49.57 of the promised territory?" 00:31:49.60\00:31:50.94 So God promised this land, the land deal, 00:31:50.97\00:31:53.48 but in order for them to enjoy the land, 00:31:53.51\00:31:56.21 for the rest of their lives, they had to remain faithful. 00:31:56.24\00:32:01.32 And we're not here attacking the people of Israel. 00:32:01.35\00:32:04.22 We're revealing to you what is in the Scriptures, 00:32:04.25\00:32:07.26 in the Scriptures, God's desire... 00:32:07.29\00:32:10.39 I want to say the same thing that Paul said. 00:32:10.43\00:32:15.06 And I believe we have all this in our heart. 00:32:15.10\00:32:17.37 In Romans 10:1-2 we have these words. 00:32:17.40\00:32:21.90 Romans 10:1-2, "Brethren, my heart's desire 00:32:21.94\00:32:27.28 and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 00:32:27.31\00:32:32.88 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, 00:32:32.91\00:32:36.69 but not according to knowledge." 00:32:36.72\00:32:40.36 And so verse 3, "For they being 00:32:40.39\00:32:42.99 ignorant of God's righteousness, 00:32:43.02\00:32:44.89 and seeking to establish their own righteousness, 00:32:44.93\00:32:47.93 have not submitted to the righteousness of God." 00:32:47.96\00:32:51.23 So this is a message for the people of Israel today. 00:32:51.27\00:32:55.70 And if anyone from the people of Israel is listening, 00:32:55.74\00:32:58.54 my heart's desire is for you to be saved. 00:32:58.57\00:33:01.94 And so I encourage you to look at the things 00:33:01.98\00:33:04.81 written in the scriptures. 00:33:04.85\00:33:06.31 Yes, in the Old Testament Scriptures, 00:33:06.35\00:33:08.65 we call them the Old Testament Scripture, 00:33:08.68\00:33:10.02 just call them the scriptures, 00:33:10.05\00:33:11.65 but encourage you to look at the scriptures 00:33:11.69\00:33:13.92 they are prophecies concerning the Messiah, 00:33:13.96\00:33:16.83 that tell of His sacrifice for us. 00:33:16.86\00:33:19.13 Yes, you have heard, don't read, 00:33:19.16\00:33:21.06 don't study Isaiah 53, 00:33:21.10\00:33:22.63 but please, it's there for your blessing. 00:33:22.66\00:33:26.17 Isaiah 53 has a message for the people of Israel, 00:33:26.20\00:33:29.70 the people of Israel, and even spiritual Israel 00:33:29.74\00:33:32.91 because it talks about our Messiah 00:33:32.94\00:33:35.18 that would suffer for us so that we can have salvation. 00:33:35.21\00:33:39.91 And I want to because of time limitation, 00:33:39.95\00:33:42.62 go to the blessing 00:33:42.65\00:33:46.49 that we have in Matthew 23. 00:33:46.52\00:33:50.06 Actually, this is a message from the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:33:50.09\00:33:54.40 Matthew 23:37-39, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, 00:33:54.43\00:33:58.43 the one who kills the prophets 00:33:58.47\00:33:59.83 and stones those who are sent to her! 00:33:59.87\00:34:02.17 How often I wanted to gather your children together, 00:34:02.20\00:34:05.27 as a hen, gathers her chicks under her wings, 00:34:05.31\00:34:08.21 but you were not willing! 00:34:08.24\00:34:09.61 See! 00:34:09.64\00:34:10.98 Your house is left to you desolate, 00:34:11.01\00:34:12.51 for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 00:34:12.55\00:34:16.18 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" 00:34:16.22\00:34:19.55 So if you say blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, 00:34:19.59\00:34:22.46 people of Israel, people of Israel, 00:34:22.49\00:34:25.36 spiritual Israel as well. 00:34:25.39\00:34:27.13 You will be blessed of the Lord. 00:34:27.16\00:34:29.30 So I want to leave you with this thought. 00:34:29.33\00:34:32.87 In Romans 11:22-23 let me see if I can get it done, 00:34:32.90\00:34:36.47 "Therefore consider the goodness 00:34:36.50\00:34:38.07 and severity of God, on those who fell, severity, 00:34:38.11\00:34:41.38 but toward you, goodness, 00:34:41.41\00:34:43.11 if you continue in His goodness." 00:34:43.14\00:34:44.85 Spiritual Israel has to continue 00:34:44.88\00:34:46.45 in God's goodness as well. 00:34:46.48\00:34:48.05 "Otherwise you also will be cut off." 00:34:48.08\00:34:51.49 And notice verse 23. 00:34:51.52\00:34:52.95 "And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, 00:34:52.99\00:34:57.36 will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again." 00:34:57.39\00:35:02.43 In 2 Peter 3:9 it says, "God is not willing 00:35:02.46\00:35:05.10 that any should perish, 00:35:05.13\00:35:06.47 whoever you are from whatever nation, 00:35:06.50\00:35:08.54 God is not willing that you should perish, 00:35:08.57\00:35:10.51 but should come to repentance 00:35:10.54\00:35:11.91 and enjoy the salvation of the Lord." 00:35:11.94\00:35:14.38 Amen. Thank you, Pastor Dinzey. 00:35:14.41\00:35:17.08 What a wonderful setup. 00:35:17.11\00:35:18.45 As you talk about coming back to the Lord coming back, 00:35:18.48\00:35:22.18 responding to the invitation of God, 00:35:22.22\00:35:23.99 which then makes you The Remnant, 00:35:24.02\00:35:25.89 which is what Wednesday is all about. 00:35:25.92\00:35:27.89 I want to begin with a very important statement. 00:35:27.92\00:35:30.53 When you look at the Bible, there's a cadence among Israel. 00:35:30.56\00:35:34.13 And its blessing, rebellion, blessing, rebellion, 00:35:34.16\00:35:36.56 even among the kings, blessing, rebellion, blessing, rebellion. 00:35:36.60\00:35:40.40 And sometimes I'm reading stories 00:35:40.44\00:35:41.77 in the book like Asa. 00:35:41.80\00:35:43.14 Asa had peace, and all of those days, 00:35:43.17\00:35:45.31 God gave him a peace for 10 years. 00:35:45.34\00:35:48.54 And I'd love the story to end right there with it. 00:35:48.58\00:35:51.18 But then Asa, and we think but then Abraham, 00:35:51.21\00:35:53.92 but then Solomon, and you think but Jeroboam, 00:35:53.95\00:35:56.52 but you think of all these names 00:35:56.55\00:35:57.89 and I thought, wow, 00:35:57.92\00:35:59.25 it shows that the Bible is not written by men, 00:35:59.29\00:36:03.49 because if it was written by men, men would not say 00:36:03.53\00:36:06.26 anything bad about themselves. 00:36:06.29\00:36:08.23 It shows that the Bible is not written by men. 00:36:08.26\00:36:10.73 But look at the promises that God has given 00:36:10.77\00:36:13.97 to Israel about the remnant. 00:36:14.00\00:36:16.27 Let's go to Isaiah 10:20-22, the remnant. 00:36:16.30\00:36:21.41 My first point is God will restore holiness, 00:36:21.44\00:36:25.38 and dependence in Him among the remnant. 00:36:25.41\00:36:29.38 "And it shall come to pass and that day 00:36:29.42\00:36:32.12 that the remnant of Israel, and such as have escaped 00:36:32.15\00:36:36.73 of the house of Jacob will never again depend on him 00:36:36.76\00:36:41.20 who defeated them, but will depend on the Lord, 00:36:41.23\00:36:45.23 the Holy One of Israel, in truth. 00:36:45.27\00:36:48.00 The remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, 00:36:48.04\00:36:52.01 to the Mighty God. 00:36:52.04\00:36:54.24 For though your people, O Israel, 00:36:54.28\00:36:56.64 be as the sand of the sea, 00:36:56.68\00:36:58.95 a remnant of them will return, the destruction decreed 00:36:58.98\00:37:03.18 shall overflow with righteousness." 00:37:03.22\00:37:06.49 Notice what happens when a heart is returning 00:37:06.52\00:37:08.49 to God. 00:37:08.52\00:37:09.86 All the destruction that was decreed against you, 00:37:09.89\00:37:11.86 God is going to turn that around for righteousness. 00:37:11.89\00:37:14.63 When a person turns his or her heart to the Lord, 00:37:14.66\00:37:18.27 the deluge against your rebellion stops, 00:37:18.30\00:37:21.10 and God in gracious love for us 00:37:21.14\00:37:23.51 begins to open before us a flower of abundant blessings, 00:37:23.54\00:37:27.38 a flower of glory and gratitude and blessings. 00:37:27.41\00:37:29.94 And God will do that. 00:37:29.98\00:37:31.51 Not only will He do that, but God will restore those 00:37:31.55\00:37:34.22 who have been disenfranchised. 00:37:34.25\00:37:36.18 And there are many people that have walked away 00:37:36.22\00:37:37.62 from religion because they were labeled 00:37:37.65\00:37:40.32 in such a way or dealt with in such a way 00:37:40.36\00:37:42.66 that it was not a pleasant experience for them, 00:37:42.69\00:37:44.99 God will gather a remnant even from among them. 00:37:45.03\00:37:48.26 Micah 4:6-7. 00:37:48.30\00:37:50.70 The Bible says, "'In that day,' says the Lord, Micah 4:6-7, 00:37:50.73\00:37:55.87 "I will assemble the lame, I will gather the outcast 00:37:55.90\00:38:00.58 and those whom I have afflicted, 00:38:00.61\00:38:03.18 I will make the lame a remnant, 00:38:03.21\00:38:05.81 and the outcast a strong nation, 00:38:05.85\00:38:08.85 so the Lord will reign over them 00:38:08.88\00:38:10.99 in Mount Zion from now on, even for evermore." 00:38:11.02\00:38:15.36 That's why the Bible says in the New Testament, 00:38:15.39\00:38:17.43 make straight paths for your feet 00:38:17.46\00:38:19.29 so that the lane will not be turned out of the way. 00:38:19.33\00:38:21.66 God is calling us to be a guide to those who are looking 00:38:21.70\00:38:24.93 for a way back. 00:38:24.97\00:38:26.87 The third point God will preserve the honest in word, 00:38:26.90\00:38:29.80 and indeed. Zephaniah 3:12-13. 00:38:29.84\00:38:35.04 Verse 12, "I will leave in your midst 00:38:35.08\00:38:40.48 a meek and humble people, 00:38:40.52\00:38:42.72 and they shall trust in the name of the Lord. 00:38:42.75\00:38:44.89 The remnant of Israel shall do no unrighteousness 00:38:44.92\00:38:50.03 and speak no lies, nor shall a deceitful tongue 00:38:50.06\00:38:53.66 be found in their mouth, 00:38:53.70\00:38:55.30 for they shall feed their flocks and lie down, 00:38:55.33\00:38:57.77 and no one shall make them afraid." 00:38:57.80\00:38:59.93 Sounds like Revelation Chapter 7, 00:38:59.97\00:39:02.17 Revelation 14, "No deceit is found in their mouth, 00:39:02.20\00:39:05.41 no guile found in their mouths." 00:39:05.44\00:39:07.48 Once again, describing not only literal Israel, 00:39:07.51\00:39:10.95 those who will repent, but spiritual Israel, 00:39:10.98\00:39:13.92 those who make a covenant to God, according to His Word. 00:39:13.95\00:39:17.85 And when you think about the frustration 00:39:17.89\00:39:21.22 that God experienced because of Israel's disobedience, 00:39:21.26\00:39:24.43 I want to say that God's frustration, 00:39:24.46\00:39:26.80 let me repeat that man's rebellion 00:39:26.83\00:39:30.17 can never outlast God's desire to bring us back. 00:39:30.20\00:39:35.54 Let me say that again. 00:39:35.57\00:39:37.24 This is where the long-suffering 00:39:37.27\00:39:39.64 of God comes in, the long-suffering, 00:39:39.67\00:39:41.94 reminds me of the man that said, you know, 00:39:41.98\00:39:44.18 I'm going to prove there is no God. 00:39:44.21\00:39:46.31 And he went outside and looked up to the heavens 00:39:46.35\00:39:48.82 began to shake his fist and other things 00:39:48.85\00:39:50.82 that were perverse to the human ears. 00:39:50.85\00:39:54.39 And he said, "See, I told you there is no God." 00:39:54.42\00:39:56.86 And the Christian said, 00:39:56.89\00:39:58.23 "Well, God is also long-suffering." 00:39:58.26\00:40:00.80 You can't outlast God's long-suffering. 00:40:00.83\00:40:02.83 Praise God for that. 00:40:02.86\00:40:04.37 His long-suffering, not willing that any should perish 00:40:04.40\00:40:07.50 as Pastor Dinzey said, but then you'll have to ask yourself 00:40:07.54\00:40:10.31 the question, what is the purpose 00:40:10.34\00:40:11.67 of the remnant? 00:40:11.71\00:40:13.04 Why is God bringing the remnant back? 00:40:13.07\00:40:14.64 Let's look at Isaiah 42:6. 00:40:14.68\00:40:17.98 Isaiah 42:6, God doesn't just bring you back and say, 00:40:18.01\00:40:21.72 sit down and wait till I return. 00:40:21.75\00:40:23.65 There's a purpose for the remnant. 00:40:23.69\00:40:25.15 He wants to use them for a divine appointment. 00:40:25.19\00:40:28.59 Isaiah 42:6, "I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, 00:40:28.62\00:40:35.56 and will hold Your hand, I will keep You and give You 00:40:35.60\00:40:39.67 as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles." 00:40:39.70\00:40:45.44 I was talking to somebody who's a part 00:40:45.47\00:40:46.91 of a religious sect, 00:40:46.94\00:40:48.64 that just seems once again to seem to be exclusive, 00:40:48.68\00:40:51.75 you know, we're the only ones that God has chosen. 00:40:51.78\00:40:54.02 God has not chosen any other race 00:40:54.05\00:40:55.78 or any other color or any other class, 00:40:55.82\00:40:57.75 creed or cast. 00:40:57.79\00:40:59.15 And I've said to you, you don't know the gospel. 00:40:59.19\00:41:01.26 If you think the gospel is exclusive to only one race 00:41:01.29\00:41:04.59 of individuals, then you fail to realize 00:41:04.63\00:41:07.43 the most prominent text in the Bible, John 3:16, 00:41:07.46\00:41:10.73 "That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish." 00:41:10.77\00:41:14.30 The Lord came to seek and save the lost, 00:41:14.34\00:41:16.44 not just the lost of a certain race, 00:41:16.47\00:41:18.24 He began because of choosing Israel, 00:41:18.27\00:41:20.68 to appeal to them for three and a half years. 00:41:20.71\00:41:23.21 And then He says, "I come to the lost sheep 00:41:23.24\00:41:25.61 of the house of Israel." 00:41:25.65\00:41:26.98 But that was not the extent of His invitation, 00:41:27.02\00:41:29.15 whosoever will let him come. 00:41:29.18\00:41:32.15 When we think about that, the question is, 00:41:32.19\00:41:34.02 what will the shining light of those 00:41:34.06\00:41:37.29 who respond to the invitation of God do? 00:41:37.33\00:41:39.69 Isaiah 60:3, "The Gentiles shall come to your light, 00:41:39.73\00:41:46.27 and the kings to the brightness of your rising." 00:41:46.30\00:41:49.90 When Paul and Barnabas waxed bowl 00:41:49.94\00:41:52.74 and preach their hearts out in Antioch. 00:41:52.77\00:41:55.41 And the entire city came together 00:41:55.44\00:41:56.88 in Acts Chapter 13, 00:41:56.91\00:41:58.28 the entire city came together on the next Sabbath, 00:41:58.31\00:42:00.65 to hear the Word of God. 00:42:00.68\00:42:03.05 It stirred up the hearts of those who did not return 00:42:03.08\00:42:05.29 to the Lord, the devout men, the chief leaders of the city, 00:42:05.32\00:42:08.69 the women of the city, the Jews stirred up 00:42:08.72\00:42:11.26 all of those against the message 00:42:11.29\00:42:13.26 of Paul and Barnabas because in their hearts, 00:42:13.29\00:42:16.83 they did not return to the Lord. 00:42:16.87\00:42:19.97 So now let me bring about seven points 00:42:20.00\00:42:21.80 in the time I have, 00:42:21.84\00:42:23.17 seven points, Jill, this is amazing. 00:42:23.20\00:42:26.74 We think about the remnant and I want to make this, 00:42:26.78\00:42:28.61 I'm gonna preface this by saying this, 00:42:28.64\00:42:31.38 there are many people that have loved ones 00:42:31.41\00:42:32.78 that have walked away from God 00:42:32.81\00:42:34.15 and you think to yourself, will they ever return? 00:42:34.18\00:42:37.15 Well, God has not stopped. 00:42:37.19\00:42:38.62 God has not stopped working on trying to bring 00:42:38.65\00:42:40.49 that person back. 00:42:40.52\00:42:41.92 My first point, never give up on those that appear hopeless. 00:42:41.96\00:42:47.46 God is still not done trying to save them. 00:42:47.50\00:42:51.67 Look at Job 14:7-9. 00:42:51.70\00:42:54.24 This to me is it's a passage that's hidden 00:42:54.27\00:42:58.77 within the context what happens when you die? 00:42:58.81\00:43:01.61 The Bible says, Job 14:7-9, "For there is hope for a tree, 00:43:01.64\00:43:07.85 if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, 00:43:07.88\00:43:11.22 and that its tender shoots will not cease. 00:43:11.25\00:43:13.56 Though its roots may grow old in the earth, 00:43:13.59\00:43:17.53 and its stump may die in the ground, 00:43:17.56\00:43:20.30 yet at the scent of water it will bud 00:43:20.33\00:43:24.30 and bring forth branches like a plant." 00:43:24.33\00:43:27.74 So when the Lord talks about we are the light of the world, 00:43:27.77\00:43:30.01 we are the salt of the earth, we are to be like living water. 00:43:30.04\00:43:34.51 If the living water of Christ 00:43:34.54\00:43:36.41 is pouring forth from our lives, 00:43:36.44\00:43:38.01 somebody who's thirsty may get a scent of that water 00:43:38.05\00:43:41.35 and begin to bud again. 00:43:41.38\00:43:42.85 Praise God for that. 00:43:42.88\00:43:44.29 Jeremiah 30:3, God is still extending 00:43:44.32\00:43:47.92 an invitation to those who He wants to bring back 00:43:47.96\00:43:51.13 that have strayed away. 00:43:51.16\00:43:52.49 Jeremiah 30:3, "For behold, the days are coming, 00:43:52.53\00:43:55.36 says the Lord, 'that I will bring back 00:43:55.40\00:43:57.67 from captivity My people Israel and Judah, 00:43:57.70\00:44:01.37 and I will cause them to return to the land 00:44:01.40\00:44:03.91 that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.'" 00:44:03.94\00:44:07.94 Third point. 00:44:07.98\00:44:09.31 After the frustration of failing 00:44:09.34\00:44:10.75 to find satisfaction in the world, 00:44:10.78\00:44:12.58 God said they will come back. 00:44:12.61\00:44:14.45 Hosea 3:5, listen to this. 00:44:14.48\00:44:17.12 "Afterward the children of Israel shall return 00:44:17.15\00:44:19.39 and seek the Lord their God and David their king. 00:44:19.42\00:44:23.73 They shall fear the Lord and His goodness 00:44:23.76\00:44:26.80 in the latter days." 00:44:26.83\00:44:28.53 Point number four. 00:44:28.56\00:44:29.90 God does not prevent rebellion, 00:44:29.93\00:44:32.17 but God does not bless it either. 00:44:32.20\00:44:35.04 Hosea 2:7, "She will chase her lovers, 00:44:35.07\00:44:38.37 but not overtake them. 00:44:38.41\00:44:40.11 Yes, she will seek them, but not find them. 00:44:40.14\00:44:43.28 Then she will say, 'I will go and return to my first husband, 00:44:43.31\00:44:47.02 for then it was better for me than now.'" 00:44:47.05\00:44:50.55 Praise the Lord. 00:44:50.59\00:44:51.92 I may preserve the last two for the end of the program. 00:44:51.95\00:44:54.06 Number five, God will return to those that returned to him. 00:44:54.09\00:44:58.06 Zachariah 1:3, "Therefore say to them, 00:44:58.09\00:45:02.26 'Thus says the Lord of hosts. 00:45:02.30\00:45:04.23 'Return to Me,' says the Lord of hosts. 00:45:04.27\00:45:06.13 'And I will return to you,' says the Lord of hosts.'" 00:45:06.17\00:45:10.71 So the invitation today is, if you return to God, 00:45:10.74\00:45:13.88 He cannot wait to return to you. 00:45:13.91\00:45:16.64 Amen. Great study. 00:45:16.68\00:45:20.72 Thursday's lesson title is going to make someone go ew. 00:45:20.75\00:45:27.06 It's like to some people, it's like, the nails on chalkboard. 00:45:27.09\00:45:32.83 And the title is Spiritual Israel. 00:45:32.86\00:45:36.20 There are some who really have a difficult idea 00:45:36.23\00:45:39.83 with that thought, we're going to just look at the Bible. 00:45:39.87\00:45:44.17 But let me give you what I'm going to read 00:45:44.21\00:45:48.14 a paragraph first from this lesson. 00:45:48.18\00:45:52.75 This comes from our quarterly. 00:45:52.78\00:45:54.38 "Whatever the mistakes and failings of ancient Israel, 00:45:54.42\00:45:57.39 the Lord was not finished with the plan of creating 00:45:57.42\00:45:59.69 a faithful people to serve Him. 00:45:59.72\00:46:01.56 In fact, the Old Testament looked forward to a time 00:46:01.59\00:46:05.46 when the Lord would create its spiritual Israel, 00:46:05.49\00:46:09.23 a faithful body of believers, Jews and Gentiles, 00:46:09.26\00:46:12.43 who would carry on the work 00:46:12.47\00:46:14.44 of preaching the gospel to the world. 00:46:14.47\00:46:17.31 Welcome to the early church!" 00:46:17.34\00:46:20.08 The name Israel is a spiritual name. 00:46:20.11\00:46:24.85 When Jacob wrestled with the Lord hung on to him 00:46:24.88\00:46:29.48 and said, "I'll not let you go till You bless me." 00:46:29.52\00:46:32.22 It was God, who gave Jacob 00:46:32.25\00:46:36.42 this new spiritual name, 00:46:36.46\00:46:40.20 the nation of Israel 00:46:40.23\00:46:42.36 that are the 12 sons of Jacob 00:46:42.40\00:46:47.40 became known as Israel. 00:46:47.44\00:46:52.57 It's a spiritual name when they were in covenant, 00:46:52.61\00:46:56.68 but let's just look real quickly. 00:46:56.71\00:47:00.02 Sometimes you say spiritual Israel, 00:47:00.05\00:47:02.28 and there are people who are saying 00:47:02.32\00:47:03.79 that's replacement theology. 00:47:03.82\00:47:07.26 Romans 9:6-8, we're gonna let the Bible talk to us. 00:47:07.29\00:47:12.49 Romans 9:6-8. 00:47:12.53\00:47:16.00 Paul writes to the Romans and says, 00:47:16.03\00:47:17.97 "They are not all Israel who are of Israel, 00:47:18.00\00:47:23.00 nor are they all children because 00:47:23.04\00:47:24.84 they are the seed of Abraham," now here he's talking about 00:47:24.87\00:47:27.48 the offspring, the biological, 00:47:27.51\00:47:30.11 "but, 'In Isaac your seed shall be called.'" 00:47:30.15\00:47:34.88 Abraham had Ishmael. 00:47:34.92\00:47:39.22 But Ishmael wasn't Abraham's promised son. 00:47:39.25\00:47:44.46 It was the son that came from his own loins, 00:47:44.49\00:47:47.33 and he had six sons after that when he get to be old. 00:47:47.36\00:47:51.10 But still, Isaac is called the only begotten son 00:47:51.13\00:47:57.01 because he's the son of the promise. 00:47:57.04\00:47:58.77 So he says, in Isaac your seed shall be called, 00:47:58.81\00:48:02.14 that is Romans 9:8. 00:48:02.18\00:48:06.38 "Those who are the children of the flesh, 00:48:06.41\00:48:08.88 these are not the children of God." 00:48:08.92\00:48:11.02 So just because you were born in a biological line 00:48:11.05\00:48:17.46 of Abraham, he's saying that's not it. 00:48:17.49\00:48:20.33 "It's the children of the promise 00:48:20.36\00:48:22.40 that are counted as the seed. 00:48:22.43\00:48:24.60 Now let's flip quickly to Galatians 3, 00:48:24.63\00:48:27.00 I'm not going to get through my stuff. 00:48:27.04\00:48:29.00 Galatians 3:26. 00:48:29.04\00:48:33.34 You don't have to believe in spiritual Israel 00:48:33.38\00:48:35.91 because we're saying there's a spiritual Israel. 00:48:35.94\00:48:38.58 We believe because the Bible says this. 00:48:38.61\00:48:42.65 Galatians 3:26, "You are sons of God 00:48:42.68\00:48:46.12 through faith in Christ Jesus. 00:48:46.15\00:48:47.99 For as many of you as were baptized 00:48:48.02\00:48:50.39 into Christ have put on Christ. 00:48:50.43\00:48:52.36 There's neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, 00:48:52.39\00:48:55.40 male nor female, 00:48:55.43\00:48:57.07 for you are one in Christ Jesus. 00:48:57.10\00:48:59.50 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, 00:48:59.53\00:49:05.14 and heirs according to the everlasting 00:49:05.17\00:49:09.14 covenant promise of salvation by grace 00:49:09.18\00:49:11.61 through faith." 00:49:11.65\00:49:12.98 Let's take that apart. 00:49:13.01\00:49:14.35 Verse 26, "You are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 00:49:14.38\00:49:19.39 all who are born again believers are God's children." 00:49:19.42\00:49:25.06 2 Peter 1:4 says, 00:49:25.09\00:49:27.00 "That we partake of his divine nature." 00:49:27.03\00:49:31.37 And John 1:12, Jill, I know this is one of your favorites. 00:49:31.40\00:49:35.20 This says, "As many as received Him," 00:49:35.24\00:49:38.71 received Christ as their Savior, 00:49:38.74\00:49:41.18 "to them He gave the right to become children of God, 00:49:41.21\00:49:45.48 to those who believe in His name, 00:49:45.51\00:49:48.15 who were born," catch this, "not of blood, 00:49:48.18\00:49:52.85 nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, 00:49:52.89\00:49:56.06 but of God." 00:49:56.09\00:49:57.46 Now we go on and we know that, 00:49:57.49\00:50:00.90 let's look at Galatians 3:27. 00:50:00.93\00:50:04.90 "As many of you as were baptized into Christ 00:50:04.93\00:50:10.81 have put on Christ." 00:50:10.84\00:50:13.58 Well, question is, what does it mean to be 00:50:13.61\00:50:15.81 baptized into Christ? 00:50:15.84\00:50:18.81 What if baptism doesn't necessarily affect 00:50:18.85\00:50:22.48 the union with Christ? 00:50:22.52\00:50:24.42 What I'm saying is, if somebody is a sinner 00:50:24.45\00:50:27.09 and their heart is an unregenerate heart, 00:50:27.12\00:50:28.99 they can go down in the water a sinner 00:50:29.02\00:50:31.46 and come up a wet sinner. 00:50:31.49\00:50:33.19 So being baptized into Christ, 00:50:33.23\00:50:36.93 it is the baptism of the Holy Spirit 00:50:36.97\00:50:39.33 that you and I entrust with Christ. 00:50:39.37\00:50:40.90 1 Corinthians 12:13, it says, "By one Spirit we were 00:50:40.94\00:50:47.68 all baptized into one body whether Jews or Greeks, 00:50:47.71\00:50:52.28 slaves or free, and have all been made 00:50:52.31\00:50:56.45 to drink up one spirit." 00:50:56.48\00:50:59.85 Let me tell you something, 00:50:59.89\00:51:01.22 I am not diminishing in any way, water baptism. 00:51:01.26\00:51:07.00 Romans Chapter 6 tells us it is symbolic 00:51:07.03\00:51:10.10 of what God has done in our heart. 00:51:10.13\00:51:12.27 Water baptism is symbolic of us dying with Christ, 00:51:12.30\00:51:16.71 of us being resurrected to walk in newness of life. 00:51:16.74\00:51:20.88 It is a commandment. 00:51:20.91\00:51:23.28 And it is probably when you get that in your heart 00:51:23.31\00:51:26.61 when you've been born again. 00:51:26.65\00:51:28.15 That's the first commandment you ought to be keeping 00:51:28.18\00:51:31.02 because water baptism is extremely important. 00:51:31.05\00:51:35.49 But it says if you're baptized into Christ, Paul says, 00:51:35.52\00:51:39.69 "You have put on Christ." 00:51:39.73\00:51:42.23 What does he mean we have put on Christ? 00:51:42.26\00:51:46.13 This implies a likeness to Christ. 00:51:46.17\00:51:50.81 Romans 13:13-14. 00:51:50.84\00:51:56.54 Paul says, "Let us walk properly, 00:51:56.58\00:52:00.78 as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, 00:52:00.82\00:52:04.72 lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy." 00:52:04.75\00:52:10.19 Romans 13:14 says, 00:52:10.23\00:52:11.73 "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, 00:52:11.76\00:52:15.96 and make no provision for your flesh, 00:52:16.00\00:52:22.10 to fulfill its lust." 00:52:22.14\00:52:24.04 Paul use the image of putting off the old, 00:52:24.07\00:52:28.48 you know, the body is the tent, 00:52:28.51\00:52:30.38 we can put off the old and we put on the new. 00:52:30.41\00:52:34.95 This is putting off the sinful behavior 00:52:34.98\00:52:37.59 and putting on the character of Christ. 00:52:37.62\00:52:42.26 Let it's symbolic of our thoughts 00:52:42.29\00:52:44.33 and our attitudes and our actions. 00:52:44.36\00:52:46.86 So verse 28, Galatians 3:28, 00:52:46.90\00:52:50.53 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, 00:52:50.57\00:52:52.43 neither slave nor free, 00:52:52.47\00:52:54.10 neither male nor female, 00:52:54.14\00:52:56.04 for you are all one in Christ Jesus." 00:52:56.07\00:52:58.94 Race and national distinction, 00:52:58.97\00:53:03.45 class differences and rivalry 00:53:03.48\00:53:06.92 between the sexes all disappear 00:53:06.95\00:53:11.29 at the foot of the cross, right? 00:53:11.32\00:53:14.42 We all are created equal, 00:53:14.46\00:53:17.99 no one enjoys special privileges, 00:53:18.03\00:53:21.26 and then verse 29, Galatians 3:29. 00:53:21.30\00:53:24.40 "If you are Christ, you're Abraham's seed, 00:53:24.43\00:53:28.07 and heirs according to the promise." 00:53:28.10\00:53:32.17 We, all of us believers are heirs 00:53:32.21\00:53:36.28 of the spiritual blessing that accompanied 00:53:36.31\00:53:40.65 the Abrahamic covenant, 00:53:40.68\00:53:42.78 the justification by faith, righteousness by faith. 00:53:42.82\00:53:46.42 And, you know, some people say, "Well, what about 00:53:46.45\00:53:49.19 that land deal that you were talking about?" 00:53:49.22\00:53:51.26 Let me read Romans 4:13. 00:53:51.29\00:53:54.73 This is talking about the promise 00:53:54.76\00:53:56.13 of inheriting the earth because Romans 4:13 says, 00:53:56.16\00:53:59.37 "The promise to Abraham is that he would be 00:53:59.40\00:54:03.81 the heir of the world not just made to Abraham, 00:54:03.84\00:54:08.64 but to all of his seed, 00:54:08.68\00:54:11.01 and through the righteousness of faith." 00:54:11.05\00:54:14.15 One last scripture, 00:54:14.18\00:54:18.05 Romans 8:14. 00:54:18.09\00:54:21.96 "As many as are led by the Spirit of God, 00:54:21.99\00:54:25.26 these are the sons of God." 00:54:25.29\00:54:29.20 Are you baptized with the Holy Spirit? 00:54:29.23\00:54:32.60 Are you being led by the Spirit, 00:54:32.63\00:54:34.97 putting on Christ Jesus? 00:54:35.00\00:54:37.51 Verse 16 says, "The spirit himself bears witness 00:54:37.54\00:54:40.61 with our spirit that we are the children of God, 00:54:40.64\00:54:43.48 and if children," guess what? 00:54:43.51\00:54:46.15 "Then we're heirs, heirs of God 00:54:46.18\00:54:49.92 and joint heirs with Christ Jesus." 00:54:49.95\00:54:54.29 And how exciting, but let me say this though, 00:54:54.32\00:54:58.16 it continues, "If indeed we suffer with Him, 00:54:58.19\00:55:02.10 that we may also be glorified together." 00:55:02.13\00:55:06.53 Ah, there is a spiritual Israel. 00:55:06.57\00:55:10.51 Amen. 00:55:10.54\00:55:12.31 Thank you so much for that, Shelley, 00:55:12.34\00:55:13.74 that's powerful spiritual Israel. 00:55:13.78\00:55:15.41 Each one of you, thank you for your study. 00:55:15.44\00:55:17.35 As we explored Abraham's Seed, I want to take 00:55:17.38\00:55:20.72 just a moment and give each one of you 00:55:20.75\00:55:22.28 a few closing thoughts. 00:55:22.32\00:55:23.85 Yeah, absolutely. 00:55:23.89\00:55:25.22 So a text that comes to my mind as I referenced it 00:55:25.25\00:55:27.92 in my day's lesson on this Land Deal. 00:55:27.96\00:55:31.09 We're looking forward to that beautiful, perfect land, 00:55:31.13\00:55:33.90 that perfect place that God has prepared for us. 00:55:33.93\00:55:36.56 And I just wanted to read John 14:1-3, it says, 00:55:36.60\00:55:40.20 "Let not your heart be troubled, 00:55:40.24\00:55:42.44 you believe in God believe also in Me. 00:55:42.47\00:55:45.27 In my Father's house are many mansions, 00:55:45.31\00:55:47.64 if it were not so, I would have told you. 00:55:47.68\00:55:50.55 And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again 00:55:50.58\00:55:53.38 and receive you to myself 00:55:53.42\00:55:54.98 that where I am, there you may be also." 00:55:55.02\00:55:57.92 What a blessed promise. Amen. 00:55:57.95\00:55:59.55 Amen, amen. 00:55:59.59\00:56:00.96 And so we consider God's mercy and greatness. 00:56:00.99\00:56:04.53 In Isaiah 56:6-7, it talks about the stranger 00:56:04.56\00:56:07.56 and the Jew being together in God's house of prayer. 00:56:07.60\00:56:12.53 You see, the everlasting covenant 00:56:12.57\00:56:14.70 is for all people of every nation. 00:56:14.74\00:56:17.31 Notice what it says in Revelation 14:6, 00:56:17.34\00:56:20.44 "Then I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, 00:56:20.48\00:56:23.18 having the everlasting gospel to preach to those 00:56:23.21\00:56:25.91 who dwell on the earth to every nation, 00:56:25.95\00:56:28.18 tribe, tongue, and people." 00:56:28.22\00:56:30.59 The people of Israel, 00:56:30.62\00:56:31.95 the everlasting covenant is for you. 00:56:31.99\00:56:33.42 And every nation under heaven, 00:56:33.46\00:56:35.62 the everlasting covenant is for you. 00:56:35.66\00:56:37.23 Amen. We talk about the remnant. 00:56:37.26\00:56:39.86 How will the remnant be formed? 00:56:39.89\00:56:41.63 John 10:27-28, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, 00:56:41.66\00:56:48.20 and they follow Me." 00:56:48.24\00:56:50.04 Verse 28, "And I give unto them eternal life, 00:56:50.07\00:56:53.38 and they shall never perish, neither shall 00:56:53.41\00:56:56.38 any man pluck them out of My hand." 00:56:56.41\00:57:00.08 Praise God for that. Amen. 00:57:00.12\00:57:01.65 When we talk about the promise of inheriting the earth, 00:57:01.68\00:57:04.15 this has to be seen in relationship to Christ, 00:57:04.19\00:57:07.89 future reign when the earth is made new 00:57:07.92\00:57:11.76 and He is King of kings, and the Lord of lord 00:57:11.79\00:57:14.26 because we only spend that thousand in heaven, 00:57:14.30\00:57:17.20 and then we come down here on a new earth, 00:57:17.23\00:57:19.73 New Jerusalem, hallelujah. 00:57:19.77\00:57:22.04 Amen. 00:57:22.07\00:57:23.61 Thank you so much, Shelley, Pastor John, Pastor Johnny, 00:57:23.64\00:57:26.04 and Pastor Ryan, and thank you for joining us as well. 00:57:26.07\00:57:28.88 We've learned that God's true Israel, 00:57:28.91\00:57:30.98 whether before or after the cross 00:57:31.01\00:57:33.01 is the Israel of faith. 00:57:33.05\00:57:35.52 These are people who have lived 00:57:35.55\00:57:36.89 in spiritual covenant relationship with Christ. 00:57:36.92\00:57:40.16 So that as it says in Philippians 2:15, 00:57:40.19\00:57:43.69 "We can be blameless and harmless, 00:57:43.73\00:57:46.49 children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked 00:57:46.53\00:57:50.37 and perverse generation, among whom 00:57:50.40\00:57:53.13 we shine as lights in the world." 00:57:53.17\00:57:56.40 You and I all of us are called to be His witnesses 00:57:56.44\00:57:59.87 and His representatives to the world. 00:57:59.91\00:58:02.64 Join us next week. 00:58:02.68\00:58:04.01 Lesson number seven Covenant at Sinai. 00:58:04.05\00:58:06.45
