These are the reasons
that today in society,

why we choose people, right?

We say, "Oh, they're gifted.

Oh, they run in
certain social circles.

Oh, they might have talents
that I think I could use."

So we look at
people with a different eye

than God looks at people.

Were they chosen
because they were going

Why was Israel chosen?

So Israel, the unwanted child

was the time of love,

That is a marriage proposal.

we see this covenant
marriage taking place.

I swore an oath to you

What does God do next?

Number four, He equips
and prepares those people

whom He has chosen.

part of My kingdom.

that, He will equip you

chosen you, as His child.

that is Christ's righteousness

privilege of putting on.

Why did they walk away from God?

Because they became
proud in who they were.

They became proud in
what God had given to them.

And they began to think
that it was all about them,

and the truth that they
thought was entrusted to them.

You see, we are never,
never to think we are special

That truth is
extended to everyone.

years of on and off rebellion,

and God is still there with them

And in the midst of all of this,

made a promise to them.

of the promise that he made

Isaac before Him.

And it just so happens to
deal with this special land

that God promised that He
would give to Abraham to Isaac

and now Jacob and
their descendants.

So Genesis
35:12, the Bible says,

"The land which I
gave Abraham and Isaac
00:15:46.47\00:15:49.81
I give to you, and
to your descendants

after you I give this land."

And so as I said
before Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,

and even Joseph
himself mentions this land

on his deathbed there
in Genesis Chapter 50.

There's just this constant
reminder through this journey

from generation to
generation to generation that,

"Hey, God has said

He's going to
give us this land."

And God said, Yep, I'm
gonna give you that land."

Only if, right, there was some
promises there that God gave,

but they came with conditions.

In fact, if we go
to Deuteronomy 28,

blessings and curses chapter

where the Lord just lays it out.

He says, "Look, you with
Me, you honor My covenant,

you honor, you obey Me,
these are all the blessings

that I'm going
to bestow upon you,

as unworthy as you are,

I'm going to
bestow these upon you.

But again, if you
don't, then you have

to endure these curses."

So Deuteronomy Chapter 28,
we're going to read verse 1,

connection with this land deal.

"Now it shall come to
pass, if you diligently obey

the voice of the Lord
your God, to observe carefully

all His commandments
which I command you today,

that the Lord your
God will set you high
00:17:11.19\00:17:13.56
above all nations of the earth."

And so you can just read through

that chapter from verse 1,

And God is just saying,
I'm going to do this for you,

that He's pouring out to them,

He was very transparent.

enemy is gonna do to you.

There's an interesting quote

Of course,
quoting Galatians 6:8,

and he says, "Like water,

which, left to
itself, will not cease running

till it has found
its level, like a clock,

which left to
itself, will not cease going

till it has run
itself completely down,

like a tree,
which is, left to grow,

cannot but bring
forth its appropriate fruit.

And this is essentially
what God was trying to paint

this picture very
clear for the people

God pouring out
His heart and saying,

"You're My beloved people.

You are the ones that I love.

And I want to embrace you.

I want to protect
you. I want to lead you.

I want to guide you.
00:19:41.74\00:19:43.08
I want you to be My
special beacon of light
00:19:43.11\00:19:44.71
to the rest of the world."

But of course, we
know the story of Israel,

they did not always fall
in line with that agreement.

They did not always
meet those conditions,

and they were quite rebellious
throughout their history.

In fact, God could not
have been more clear than

what we see right

with this land deal God

the requirements.

facing life looking

There is a necessity of
us co-operating with God
