look at society today,

We get to Genesis 3,

and we expect another perfect
happily ever after story.

And that's not the case.

That word cunning
in Hebrew actually

can be positive or negative.

And the Book of Proverbs
it's translated prudent,

which would be a good
word, but in this case,

it's translated in
the negative sense meaning

crafty, shrewd, deceptive,

Now was that really
what God had commanded?

So what Satan
through the serpent

did was took God's command,

Satan took the command
and turned it into a plural,

seem like many trees.

meaning of God's directive.

but if the fruit of the tree

God has said,

nor shall you touch

Eve's very first
mistake was what?

To enter into
dialogue with the serpent.

We take the first step into sin

dally with temptation.

about that for a while

dwell on that thought,

that's not godly."

We dally in sin in temptation,

and then we continue in sin,

by misunderstanding
the character of God.

That's what we see
in Genesis Chapter 3,

Eve actually magnified
and change God's command

she added to it, she
made it more restrictive

than God even had made it.

God never said
anything about touching the tree

yet she added to it.

Temptation and sin
come from a misunderstanding

of the character of God.

You know, saints done a
great job of attributing

his own characteristics to God.

So when we look at God,

we think, "Oh, God's not loving.

God is unjust."
No, Satan is unjust.

"Oh, God is not merciful."

Satan twists the
character of God.

In other words, he's saying,

about my happiness.

God is keeping things from

We see God is a liar in verse 4,

Now what's interesting,
it says when the woman saw,

when Gods saw what he had
made and said it was very good.

This suggests
that Eve had usurped

the creator's
role in determining

what was good.

Now she's the
judge of what was good.

When she saw that the
tree was good for food,

pleasant to the
eyes, and desirable,

desirable is the same word

as covetousness in

She coveted the fruit

was clearly deceived

Verse 10, again, Genesis

went out from Beersheba

and went towards Haran.

Now he came to a certain
place and stayed there all night

because the sun had set."

So I just wanna
pause there for a moment,

it just kind of set the record

as to where we are in this story

obviously, up to this point,

Jacob has already
committed his sin.

He has deceived his father

but now he is on the run.

He's on his way to

but he's isolated, he's alone,
he's scared, he's fearful.

see her in verse 11.

It says, "He came
out to a certain place

night," he's on his way there,

That's how a lot
of people view God,

God is a merciful

problems in the sense

committed he knows the heart,

I think of the disciples,

were not even converted

the entire three years
that they were with Jesus,

but God still had patience.

Many of us are
running away from Jesus,

and go back in

but many of us are
gonna run away from Him,

we need to take in consideration

when you lean on Jesus the rock,

People today chasing
careers. This is a major point.

where people are chasing careers

because they're trying to
climb the ladder of success.

Spending precious time, money,
and talents to impress men

become something in the world,

and end up losing
out on the eternal life.

I'm not saying that
having a career is a bad thing.

All of us need to be
successful inasmuch as we can,

but not lose out on our
salvation in the process

because we're given
too much of our time,

our efforts, and our
resources to the world

to become something
for the world and for man

but we lose out on Jesus Christ.

And in relation to
our education topic,

we have fathers and
mothers on this same note,

who instead of
spending more time

educating and
nurturing their children

We dump our kids
off on the world,

world, to be educated by men,

situations that that,

of success to become someone,

for a time in isolation.

He was willing to
deceive to get what he wanted,

and achieve a successful career
and notification of the world.

to get a different ladder.
