Amen. 00:03:01.48\00:03:03.14 It's been a wonderful study this entire quarter. 00:03:03.18\00:03:06.28 This quarter we have established 00:03:06.31\00:03:07.65 the inspiration of the Word of God. 00:03:07.68\00:03:09.42 Would you say that's accurate? 00:03:09.45\00:03:10.82 We've established the inspiration 00:03:10.85\00:03:12.55 of the prophetic Word, 00:03:12.59\00:03:14.39 the authority of the Bible over tradition, or experience, 00:03:14.42\00:03:18.99 or culture, or reason. 00:03:19.03\00:03:20.86 Sola Scriptura, 00:03:20.90\00:03:22.86 the Bible and the Bible alone as our authority of faith, 00:03:22.90\00:03:27.47 the doctrine and practice. 00:03:27.50\00:03:29.70 We've talked about the inherent power 00:03:29.74\00:03:31.87 in the Word of God, 00:03:31.91\00:03:33.61 and how the Word of God is living and life changing, 00:03:33.64\00:03:37.55 and the authority of the Bible over even other sources. 00:03:37.58\00:03:41.62 This week, we talk about the Bible and prophecy. 00:03:41.65\00:03:46.19 I want to start with the purpose of prophecy. 00:03:46.22\00:03:48.59 Bible prophecy is crucial to our identity. 00:03:48.62\00:03:52.79 And our mission is Seventh-day Adventist Christians. 00:03:52.83\00:03:56.83 Prophecy builds faith. 00:03:56.87\00:03:58.27 We've talked about this before. 00:03:58.30\00:03:59.70 Prophecy builds faith 00:03:59.73\00:04:01.14 in the authority of the Word of God. 00:04:01.17\00:04:04.47 Prophecy provides an internal and external mechanism 00:04:04.51\00:04:08.51 to confirm the accuracy of the Word of God. 00:04:08.54\00:04:11.58 Let's look at John 14. This is Jesus speaking. 00:04:11.61\00:04:15.02 This passage here shortly before His death. 00:04:15.05\00:04:17.12 John 14:29, 00:04:17.15\00:04:20.42 "Jesus says, 'And now I have told you 00:04:20.46\00:04:22.02 before it comes, that when it does come to pass, 00:04:22.06\00:04:26.39 you may believe." 00:04:26.43\00:04:28.76 Prophecy provides us internal and external mechanism 00:04:28.80\00:04:31.53 to confirm the accuracy of the Word of God. 00:04:31.57\00:04:34.04 When it happens, when it comes to pass, 00:04:34.07\00:04:36.54 we may believe. 00:04:36.57\00:04:38.24 Now there's different methods for interpreting prophecy. 00:04:38.27\00:04:42.21 There's the preterist method focusing more on the past. 00:04:42.24\00:04:47.05 There is a futurist method focusing on the future 00:04:47.08\00:04:50.39 or future fulfillment of prophecies. 00:04:50.42\00:04:53.29 The idealist method 00:04:53.32\00:04:54.66 which focuses on the ideas conveyed within that. 00:04:54.69\00:04:58.63 The historicist's method talks about events and prophecy 00:04:58.66\00:05:02.80 as being progressive. 00:05:02.83\00:05:04.83 We see a continuous fulfillment of history 00:05:04.87\00:05:07.40 starting in the past 00:05:07.44\00:05:08.87 and ending with God's eternal kingdom. 00:05:08.90\00:05:12.17 In other words, 00:05:12.21\00:05:13.54 many of the prophecies in the Bible 00:05:13.58\00:05:15.18 follow an unbroken linear flow of history 00:05:15.21\00:05:19.28 from past to present to future. 00:05:19.31\00:05:23.15 This was the method that the reformers followed. 00:05:23.18\00:05:25.55 And this is the method that we believe 00:05:25.59\00:05:27.89 as Seventh-day Adventist Christians. 00:05:27.92\00:05:30.93 Our memory text is Romans 8, Romans, why did I say Romans? 00:05:30.96\00:05:35.46 Daniel 8:14. 00:05:35.50\00:05:37.63 Daniel 8:14, which is, 00:05:37.67\00:05:41.00 you could say one of the backbone scriptures 00:05:41.04\00:05:43.51 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:05:43.54\00:05:46.64 "And he said unto me, 00:05:46.68\00:05:48.01 'Unto two thousand and three hundred days, 00:05:48.04\00:05:51.35 then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.'" 00:05:51.38\00:05:54.95 On Sunday we look at historicism and prophecy. 00:05:54.98\00:05:58.49 We look at the historical method 00:05:58.52\00:06:00.12 of interpreting prophecy as seen in the Book of Daniel. 00:06:00.16\00:06:03.36 We look at this principle of repeat and enlarge. 00:06:03.39\00:06:07.63 We're gonna look specifically at three different prophecies 00:06:07.66\00:06:11.13 of world kingdoms, 00:06:11.17\00:06:13.23 world empires that took place from Daniel's time in Babylon 00:06:13.27\00:06:16.91 all the way down to the Second Coming of Jesus. 00:06:16.94\00:06:20.64 This is Daniel 2, Daniel 7 and Daniel 8. 00:06:20.68\00:06:25.61 So turn with me to Daniel 2, 00:06:25.65\00:06:27.02 we're going to spend our time there in Daniel 2, 00:06:27.05\00:06:29.02 Daniel 7 and Daniel 8. 00:06:29.05\00:06:31.59 We'll look at this comparison as it were, 00:06:31.62\00:06:34.52 and this repeat and enlarge 00:06:34.56\00:06:36.29 principle of the kingdoms conveyed there. 00:06:36.32\00:06:39.03 Last quarter we discussed in, so if you watch last quarter, 00:06:39.06\00:06:42.23 this will be a bit of a reminder, 00:06:42.26\00:06:44.97 review and repeat and enlarge for you as well. 00:06:45.00\00:06:47.70 So Daniel 2, of course, remember, 00:06:47.74\00:06:49.60 Nebuchadnezzar had this dream, 00:06:49.64\00:06:51.47 and he couldn't remember his dream. 00:06:51.51\00:06:53.48 He called his magicians, and astrologers, and wise men, 00:06:53.51\00:06:56.48 and they couldn't tell him the dream 00:06:56.51\00:06:58.31 and they could not interpret the dream. 00:06:58.35\00:07:00.65 Then Daniel prayed to God 00:07:00.68\00:07:02.85 and God revealed the dream in a night vision. 00:07:02.88\00:07:06.72 And then Daniel went before the king. 00:07:06.76\00:07:09.42 And Daniel said, 00:07:09.46\00:07:10.79 "This is the dream and its interpretation." 00:07:10.83\00:07:13.46 So let's look at Daniel 2, we're in verses 36 through 38. 00:07:13.50\00:07:19.03 He is interpreting the dream. 00:07:19.07\00:07:20.67 He says, "This is the dream." 00:07:20.70\00:07:22.30 Now we would tell the interpretation of it 00:07:22.34\00:07:24.21 before the king. 00:07:24.24\00:07:25.57 This is Daniel 2:37 now. 00:07:25.61\00:07:27.71 "You, O king, are a king of kings. 00:07:27.74\00:07:29.94 For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, 00:07:29.98\00:07:33.52 strength, and glory, 00:07:33.55\00:07:35.22 and wherever the children of men dwell, 00:07:35.25\00:07:36.99 or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, 00:07:37.02\00:07:39.25 He has given them into your hand, 00:07:39.29\00:07:41.49 and has made you ruler over them all, 00:07:41.52\00:07:44.19 you are this head of gold." 00:07:44.23\00:07:46.49 The head of gold in the image 00:07:46.53\00:07:48.86 represented by the kingdom of Babylon. 00:07:48.90\00:07:51.33 Of course, at that time 00:07:51.37\00:07:52.70 Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon. 00:07:52.73\00:07:55.04 Next we have the chest and arms of silver, 00:07:55.07\00:07:57.87 represented by Medo-Persia. 00:07:57.91\00:08:01.08 Now the text doesn't specifically say 00:08:01.11\00:08:02.91 Medo-Persia here, 00:08:02.94\00:08:04.28 but we can tell that through study, 00:08:04.31\00:08:05.75 through prophecy, through history, 00:08:05.78\00:08:07.58 and clearly it talks about it 00:08:07.62\00:08:09.45 in subsequent chapters of Daniel. 00:08:09.48\00:08:12.35 Daniel 2:39, 00:08:12.39\00:08:14.36 "After you shall arise 00:08:14.39\00:08:15.72 another kingdom inferior to you." 00:08:15.76\00:08:17.59 And we know that in Daniel Chapter 5, 00:08:17.63\00:08:20.80 that Babylon fell to the Medes and the Persians in one night. 00:08:20.83\00:08:25.77 The next half of that verse, this is, 00:08:25.80\00:08:27.40 "Then another, a third kingdom of bronze, 00:08:27.44\00:08:29.60 which shall rule over all the earth." 00:08:29.64\00:08:31.97 This is, we call it the belly and thighs of bronze 00:08:32.01\00:08:34.61 representing the kingdom of Greece. 00:08:34.64\00:08:37.18 Then the legs of iron, verse 40, 00:08:37.21\00:08:39.61 " And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, 00:08:39.65\00:08:41.82 inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces 00:08:41.85\00:08:43.69 and shatters everything, 00:08:43.72\00:08:45.29 and like iron that crushes, 00:08:45.32\00:08:46.65 that kingdom will break in pieces 00:08:46.69\00:08:48.02 and crush all the others." 00:08:48.06\00:08:49.46 This is the kingdom of Rome, 00:08:49.49\00:08:51.56 pagan Rome that came on the scene 00:08:51.59\00:08:53.43 next as the fourth kingdom. 00:08:53.46\00:08:55.23 Then we have the feet 00:08:55.26\00:08:56.60 partly of iron and partly of clay. 00:08:56.63\00:09:01.14 The Roman Emperor Constantine 00:09:01.17\00:09:03.10 divided the empire into western and eastern parts, 00:09:03.14\00:09:05.67 that's probably about AD 326. 00:09:05.71\00:09:08.71 The western part fell to the barbarians 00:09:08.74\00:09:10.58 and was divided into a number of European countries 00:09:10.61\00:09:12.81 which varied in strength. 00:09:12.85\00:09:14.92 The eastern part of the Roman Empire 00:09:14.95\00:09:17.19 continued as the Byzantine Empire 00:09:17.22\00:09:18.85 which was conquered by the Muslims in AD 1453. 00:09:18.89\00:09:23.19 We see this kingdom of iron and of clay, 00:09:23.22\00:09:26.09 we see some continuation of the iron 00:09:26.13\00:09:28.33 into this kingdom of the feet, 00:09:28.36\00:09:30.30 which we'll discuss further as a little horn power 00:09:30.33\00:09:32.97 coming later in Daniel 7 and Daniel Chapter 8. 00:09:33.00\00:09:35.90 Then we see this great stone that is cut out without hands, 00:09:35.94\00:09:40.31 representing the Second Coming of Jesus 00:09:40.34\00:09:42.28 and that eternal kingdom that will come 00:09:42.31\00:09:44.85 and that will set up 00:09:44.88\00:09:46.21 and no other kingdom will destroy that. 00:09:46.25\00:09:48.58 Turn to me to Daniel 7, 00:09:48.62\00:09:49.95 we look at this image again of the beasts, 00:09:49.98\00:09:53.62 instead of the image, 00:09:53.66\00:09:55.02 now we see four beasts come up. 00:09:55.06\00:09:58.16 We'll go through this quickly. 00:09:58.19\00:09:59.53 The first beast is synonymous 00:09:59.56\00:10:01.66 with the head of gold in Nebuchadnezzar's vision 00:10:01.70\00:10:06.03 in Daniel Chapter 2. 00:10:06.07\00:10:07.84 We're in Daniel 7:2-4. 00:10:07.87\00:10:10.37 "Daniel spoke, saying, 'I saw in my vision by night, 00:10:10.41\00:10:13.71 and behold, the four winds of heaven 00:10:13.74\00:10:15.88 were stirring up the Great Sea. 00:10:15.91\00:10:17.68 And four great beasts came up from the sea, 00:10:17.71\00:10:19.58 each different from the other. 00:10:19.61\00:10:21.28 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings. 00:10:21.32\00:10:23.95 I watched till its wings were plucked off, 00:10:23.99\00:10:25.92 and it was lifted up from the earth 00:10:25.95\00:10:27.62 and made to stand on two feet like a man, 00:10:27.66\00:10:29.86 and a man's heart was given to it. 00:10:29.89\00:10:32.69 Babylon, of course, is represented by gold, 00:10:32.73\00:10:34.93 which is the finest metal. 00:10:34.96\00:10:36.53 Here the kingdom of Babylon 00:10:36.56\00:10:38.23 is represented by the most noble animal 00:10:38.27\00:10:41.00 and bird, 00:10:41.04\00:10:42.37 the lion and the eagle. 00:10:42.40\00:10:45.61 Let's read verse 5, we see the next kingdom. 00:10:45.64\00:10:47.74 And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. 00:10:47.78\00:10:50.55 It was raised up on one side, 00:10:50.58\00:10:51.91 and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. 00:10:51.95\00:10:54.65 And they said thus to it: 'Arise, devour much flesh!' 00:10:54.68\00:10:59.09 " It's raised up on one side reflecting the unequal power 00:10:59.12\00:11:03.22 between the older Median Empire 00:11:03.26\00:11:05.26 and the younger but stronger Persian side 00:11:05.29\00:11:07.93 of the Medo-Persian Empire. 00:11:07.96\00:11:10.50 The three ribs represents the bear's victims, 00:11:10.53\00:11:13.77 you could say, 00:11:13.80\00:11:15.14 the countries that Medo-Persia had attacked and conquered, 00:11:15.17\00:11:18.01 Lydia, Babylon and Egypt. 00:11:18.04\00:11:20.91 Then we see the next beast which is the leopard. 00:11:20.94\00:11:23.45 Verse 6, "After this I looked, and there was another, 00:11:23.48\00:11:25.88 like a leopard, which had on its back 00:11:25.91\00:11:27.52 four wings of a bird. 00:11:27.55\00:11:29.38 The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it." 00:11:29.42\00:11:33.09 The wings show the swiftness 00:11:33.12\00:11:35.86 with which Alexander the Great conquered the world. 00:11:35.89\00:11:38.66 This is none other than the kingdom of Greece. 00:11:38.69\00:11:41.36 The four wings of the bird in the forehead 00:11:41.40\00:11:43.13 symbolize the four ways 00:11:43.16\00:11:44.77 that after Alexander's untimely death, 00:11:44.80\00:11:46.77 he was just about 33 or almost 33 when he died. 00:11:46.80\00:11:50.64 It was divided between his four generals. 00:11:50.67\00:11:53.68 Then we look at the great and terrible beast 00:11:53.71\00:11:55.68 having iron teeth and 10 horns. 00:11:55.71\00:11:58.18 That's in verse 7. 00:11:58.21\00:11:59.71 "After this I saw in the night visions, 00:11:59.75\00:12:01.32 and behold, a fourth beast, 00:12:01.35\00:12:02.88 dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. 00:12:02.92\00:12:06.12 It had huge iron teeth, 00:12:06.15\00:12:07.66 it was devouring, breaking in pieces, 00:12:07.69\00:12:09.76 trampling the residue with its feet. 00:12:09.79\00:12:11.59 It was different 00:12:11.63\00:12:12.96 from all the beasts that were before it, 00:12:12.99\00:12:14.43 and it had ten horns." 00:12:14.46\00:12:16.67 Iron teeth, signifying the iron legs 00:12:16.70\00:12:19.90 of the image of Daniel Chapter 4. 00:12:19.93\00:12:21.87 This is pagan Rome, 00:12:21.90\00:12:23.81 10 horn similar to the beast of Revelation 13, 00:12:23.84\00:12:26.88 and the beast in Daniel Chapter 8. 00:12:26.91\00:12:29.48 Then we see the little horn power 00:12:29.51\00:12:30.85 come up in the next verse, verse 8, 00:12:30.88\00:12:32.88 "I was considering the horns, 00:12:32.91\00:12:34.25 and there was another horn, 00:12:34.28\00:12:35.62 a little one, coming up among them, 00:12:35.65\00:12:37.22 before whom three of the first horns 00:12:37.25\00:12:39.39 were plucked out by the roots. 00:12:39.42\00:12:41.32 And there, in this horn, 00:12:41.36\00:12:42.69 were eyes like the eyes of a man, 00:12:42.72\00:12:44.23 and a mouth speaking pompous words." 00:12:44.26\00:12:46.59 This is the next power papal Rome, 00:12:46.63\00:12:49.53 that we see come on the scene 00:12:49.56\00:12:51.17 that speaks pompous words against the Most High 00:12:51.20\00:12:53.97 that persecutes the saints of the Most High 00:12:54.00\00:12:56.77 that intends to change times and law. 00:12:56.81\00:13:00.04 Now we don't have time to read all of Daniel Chapter 8, 00:13:00.08\00:13:03.91 but it does not begin with the kingdom of Babylon. 00:13:03.95\00:13:06.61 We see that instead the first beast that comes 00:13:06.65\00:13:09.85 would be the kingdom of Medo-Persia. 00:13:09.88\00:13:12.85 This is toward the end of the kingdom of Babylon. 00:13:12.89\00:13:15.16 So Daniel omits that 00:13:15.19\00:13:16.62 or the vision that God gave Daniel omitted that 00:13:16.66\00:13:19.36 and started with Medo-Persia. 00:13:19.39\00:13:21.46 That is the ram with two horns, 00:13:21.50\00:13:23.03 once again representing that unequal power 00:13:23.06\00:13:25.47 that with Media and Persia. 00:13:25.50\00:13:28.10 Then we see, of course, 00:13:28.14\00:13:29.47 the he-goat who comes with a notable horn, 00:13:29.50\00:13:32.04 which is Alexander the Great. 00:13:32.07\00:13:34.18 And we see later 00:13:34.21\00:13:35.54 that that is divided into the four kingdoms, 00:13:35.58\00:13:38.88 again, like the four generals. 00:13:38.91\00:13:40.98 Then we see in Daniel 8:9, 00:13:41.02\00:13:42.98 the little horn coming again 00:13:43.02\00:13:45.19 and it grows this time horizontally 00:13:45.22\00:13:47.52 representing pagan Rome. 00:13:47.56\00:13:49.82 Then in verse 10, it begins to grow vertically, 00:13:49.86\00:13:53.23 representing papal Rome, 00:13:53.26\00:13:56.60 casting down the hosts and stars of heaven, 00:13:56.63\00:13:59.43 attacking and persecuting God's people, 00:13:59.47\00:14:02.37 wanting to be as like the Most High 00:14:02.40\00:14:04.87 and attacking the heavenly sanctuary. 00:14:04.91\00:14:08.04 The image of Daniel 2 and the visions of Daniel 7 00:14:08.08\00:14:10.78 and Daniel 8 00:14:10.81\00:14:12.15 provide the basis 00:14:12.18\00:14:13.52 for the Protestant historicist interpretation of prophecy, 00:14:13.55\00:14:16.79 which Seventh-day Adventist Christians 00:14:16.82\00:14:18.32 still uphold today. 00:14:18.35\00:14:19.69 Amen. Amen. 00:14:19.72\00:14:21.06 Praise the Lord. 00:14:21.09\00:14:22.42 That was a lot of material to cover. 00:14:22.46\00:14:24.29 You tend to get those lessons 00:14:24.33\00:14:25.76 is all this material all packed in one, 00:14:25.79\00:14:27.70 but that was a great, great way of explaining it. 00:14:27.73\00:14:30.13 I have Monday's lesson which is entitled 00:14:30.17\00:14:32.20 "The Year-Day Principle." 00:14:32.23\00:14:34.90 And, you know, 00:14:34.94\00:14:36.30 as I was studying through this lesson, 00:14:36.34\00:14:38.24 you know, I love Bible prophecy, 00:14:38.27\00:14:40.64 and people don't realize 00:14:40.68\00:14:42.01 just how important this particular principle really is. 00:14:42.04\00:14:44.58 And you touched 00:14:44.61\00:14:45.95 on the multiple different schools of thought 00:14:45.98\00:14:49.05 or interpretation of Bible prophecy. 00:14:49.08\00:14:51.25 And I find it amazing that, you know, 00:14:51.29\00:14:54.02 you have the major three, you mentioned four, 00:14:54.06\00:14:55.79 but there's really three major schools of thought 00:14:55.82\00:14:58.26 which is the preterist 00:14:58.29\00:15:00.10 interpretation of Bible prophecy, 00:15:00.13\00:15:01.46 of course, the historicist interpretation, 00:15:01.50\00:15:04.17 of course, the futurism or futurist interpretation, 00:15:04.20\00:15:07.24 but it's interesting that in all of those but one, 00:15:07.27\00:15:11.04 there's no need for a year-day principle 00:15:11.07\00:15:13.24 or the application 00:15:13.27\00:15:14.64 of the year-day prophetic timing. 00:15:14.68\00:15:17.58 And so we're going to talk about this year-day principle 00:15:17.61\00:15:19.65 and we're going to talk about the validity. 00:15:19.68\00:15:21.02 First we're going to show some, 00:15:21.05\00:15:22.52 we're going to verify it in Scripture 00:15:22.55\00:15:24.89 and show exactly some examples 00:15:24.92\00:15:27.36 throughout the scriptures of this principle being used. 00:15:27.39\00:15:30.13 And then we're gonna talk about, you know, 00:15:30.16\00:15:32.19 how and in what situation 00:15:32.23\00:15:34.23 do we justify using this particular principle? 00:15:34.26\00:15:36.77 So I'm actually going to ask 00:15:36.80\00:15:38.20 you guys to help me out with this. 00:15:38.23\00:15:39.57 I need someone to take Numbers 14:34. 00:15:39.60\00:15:41.30 Brother Kenny, 00:15:41.34\00:15:42.67 why don't you take Numbers 14:34? 00:15:42.70\00:15:45.14 Brother John Dinzey, why don't you take Ezekiel 4:6? 00:15:45.17\00:15:48.84 Pastor, why don't you take Genesis 29:27? 00:15:48.88\00:15:54.05 And then Jill, we're gonna go into Luke 13:31 and 32. 00:15:54.08\00:15:59.82 So we're gonna start with Numbers 14:34, 00:15:59.85\00:16:02.39 probably the two primary text 00:16:02.42\00:16:04.49 that we often use to prove 00:16:04.53\00:16:06.13 or establish this year-day principle 00:16:06.16\00:16:08.86 for prophetic timing 00:16:08.90\00:16:10.37 and Ezekiel 4:6. 00:16:10.40\00:16:13.07 So we're gonna start with those first. 00:16:13.10\00:16:14.57 Brother Kenny, what does that say there? 00:16:14.60\00:16:15.94 It says here, verse 34, 00:16:15.97\00:16:17.34 "After the number of the days 00:16:17.37\00:16:19.07 in which he searched the land, even 40 days, 00:16:19.11\00:16:22.51 each day for a year 00:16:22.54\00:16:24.48 shall you bear your iniquities." 00:16:24.51\00:16:26.88 Okay, so basically this, in this particular instance, 00:16:26.92\00:16:30.52 the children of Israel out in the middle of the desert 00:16:30.55\00:16:32.72 in the wilderness, and they've been whining, 00:16:32.75\00:16:34.09 they've been complaining, they've been disobeying God. 00:16:34.12\00:16:36.79 And so, God declares a judgment up on everyone 00:16:36.83\00:16:40.46 from 20 years old, 00:16:40.50\00:16:42.23 up with the exception of a couple people. 00:16:42.26\00:16:44.90 Basically, God says, look, everyone, you know, 00:16:44.93\00:16:47.10 younger than 20 years old, they'll see the Promised Land, 00:16:47.14\00:16:49.40 but for every day that this has happened, 00:16:49.44\00:16:51.97 I'm gonna give you a year. 00:16:52.01\00:16:53.34 In other words, 00:16:53.38\00:16:54.71 40 years they wandered in the wilderness, 00:16:54.74\00:16:56.08 and anyone 20 years old or up 00:16:56.11\00:16:58.05 did not get to go into the Promised Land. 00:16:58.08\00:16:59.71 This year-day principle, 00:16:59.75\00:17:01.08 this is the prophetic timing established here 00:17:01.12\00:17:03.99 in this particular instance. 00:17:04.02\00:17:05.35 Let's go to Ezekiel 4:6, continue on that same note. 00:17:05.39\00:17:09.36 "And when you have completed them, 00:17:09.39\00:17:11.33 lie again on your right side, 00:17:11.36\00:17:13.53 then you shall bear 00:17:13.56\00:17:14.90 the iniquity of the house of Judah 40 days. 00:17:14.93\00:17:17.40 I have laid on you a day for each year." 00:17:17.43\00:17:20.20 So there you go again. 00:17:20.24\00:17:21.57 So right here in this particular instance, 00:17:21.60\00:17:23.51 God is speaking to Ezekiel 00:17:23.54\00:17:24.91 and He's basically condemning the children of Israel 00:17:24.94\00:17:28.14 because of all of the apostasy. 00:17:28.18\00:17:29.64 They were in this incredible state of apostasy 00:17:29.68\00:17:32.65 when the Lord had drawn the line and said that's it. 00:17:32.68\00:17:35.25 And he makes Ezekiel lay on his right side. 00:17:35.28\00:17:39.62 And, of course, he establishes this 40 day time period, 00:17:39.65\00:17:42.56 but he says it's not going to be 40 days, 00:17:42.59\00:17:44.33 it's going to be 40 years. 00:17:44.36\00:17:46.33 And so, this day for a year principle 00:17:46.36\00:17:48.16 is established right here, you see that in Scripture. 00:17:48.20\00:17:50.77 Also, there are other ways 00:17:50.80\00:17:52.20 that we see this in the Scripture, 00:17:52.23\00:17:53.94 and I want to give a couple of examples of that. 00:17:53.97\00:17:56.04 Pastor, Genesis 29:27. 00:17:56.07\00:17:59.91 "Speaking of Laban and his request. 00:17:59.94\00:18:02.31 Right. 00:18:02.34\00:18:03.68 " Fulfill her week, 00:18:03.71\00:18:05.05 and we will give you this one also 00:18:05.08\00:18:08.18 for the service 00:18:08.22\00:18:09.65 which you will serve with me still another seven years." 00:18:09.68\00:18:14.62 Okay, so put this in context, Genesis 29, Jacob, 00:18:14.66\00:18:17.96 obviously came to get, 00:18:17.99\00:18:19.39 you know, to be with his bride, Rachel. 00:18:19.43\00:18:21.60 And so, for seven years, 00:18:21.63\00:18:23.70 he thinks he's working for Uncle Laban, 00:18:23.73\00:18:26.23 so that he can have Rachel as a bride. 00:18:26.27\00:18:27.90 And on his wedding day, 00:18:27.94\00:18:29.27 he finds out that he didn't marry Rachel. 00:18:29.30\00:18:30.71 He actually married the older sister, Leah. 00:18:30.74\00:18:33.21 And, of course, he goes back mad 00:18:33.24\00:18:35.28 at Uncle Laban and says, "Hey, what's going on here? 00:18:35.31\00:18:37.11 I wanted Rachel." 00:18:37.15\00:18:38.48 He says, "Look, I can't give you 00:18:38.51\00:18:39.85 the younger daughter before the older, 00:18:39.88\00:18:41.22 so I tell you what? 00:18:41.25\00:18:42.58 We'll work something out, work for me, 00:18:42.62\00:18:43.95 notice, he says, fulfill her week." 00:18:43.99\00:18:45.52 How many days are in a week? Seven. 00:18:45.55\00:18:47.02 There are seven days in a week. 00:18:47.06\00:18:48.39 So he says, "Fulfill her week 00:18:48.42\00:18:50.13 and then you can have Rachel also." 00:18:50.16\00:18:53.33 And so, it says there at the end of that verse. 00:18:53.36\00:18:55.66 He served me and still another seven years, 00:18:55.70\00:18:58.47 that year-day principle 00:18:58.50\00:19:00.20 is applied also in this particular text. 00:19:00.24\00:19:02.37 Again, we're just trying to establish 00:19:02.40\00:19:03.74 the validity of this 00:19:03.77\00:19:05.11 because I doing evangelistic series 00:19:05.14\00:19:07.04 and in talking and conversing 00:19:07.08\00:19:08.41 and doing Bible studies with people, 00:19:08.44\00:19:09.81 I run into all kinds of people to say, Oh, 00:19:09.84\00:19:11.38 this year-day principle is not really, 00:19:11.41\00:19:13.38 it's not really that big of a deal. 00:19:13.42\00:19:14.75 We don't need it, you know, 00:19:14.78\00:19:16.12 and because this year-day principle 00:19:16.15\00:19:17.85 is not applied appropriately and responsibly. 00:19:17.89\00:19:20.76 When we get to these prophetic books 00:19:20.79\00:19:22.82 like Daniel and Revelation, 00:19:22.86\00:19:24.29 we deal with a lot of time prophecies. 00:19:24.33\00:19:26.26 So what do you do with those time prophecies? 00:19:26.29\00:19:28.20 In misrepresenting 00:19:28.23\00:19:29.56 or misunderstanding these time prophecies 00:19:29.60\00:19:31.53 and not applying the year-day principle, 00:19:31.57\00:19:33.44 you have a completely different interpretation 00:19:33.47\00:19:36.40 of Bible prophecy. 00:19:36.44\00:19:37.77 In fact, you have 00:19:37.81\00:19:39.14 quite a large misinterpretation of Bible prophecy 00:19:39.17\00:19:42.31 when you do that. 00:19:42.34\00:19:43.68 And, of course, Jill, we also want to show 00:19:43.71\00:19:45.05 a New Testament example of this. 00:19:45.08\00:19:47.65 Jesus Himself used the year-day principle 00:19:47.68\00:19:51.32 in describing His own ministry. 00:19:51.35\00:19:52.69 So what does that say there, Luke 13:31 and 32? 00:19:52.72\00:19:57.26 "On that very day some Pharisees came, 00:19:57.29\00:19:58.89 saying to Him, 00:19:58.93\00:20:00.26 'Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.' 00:20:00.30\00:20:03.10 And He said to them, 'Go, tell that fox, 00:20:03.13\00:20:05.60 behold, I cast out demons 00:20:05.63\00:20:07.34 and perform cures today and tomorrow, 00:20:07.37\00:20:09.54 and the third day I shall be perfected.'" 00:20:09.57\00:20:12.17 So this is quite interesting. 00:20:12.21\00:20:13.78 Jesus responds to the critics, you know, they've told him, 00:20:13.81\00:20:15.94 You better get out of here up to this point. 00:20:15.98\00:20:17.81 And it's just what probably have been 00:20:17.85\00:20:19.95 within the first six months of Jesus' ministry. 00:20:19.98\00:20:23.55 This is early on in His ministry, 00:20:23.59\00:20:25.02 and He's been out there, 00:20:25.05\00:20:26.39 you know, healing people 00:20:26.42\00:20:27.76 and performing all of these miracles 00:20:27.79\00:20:29.56 and the signs and these wonders, 00:20:29.59\00:20:30.93 and He's stirred up the community, 00:20:30.96\00:20:32.59 and it's gotten back to Herod. 00:20:32.63\00:20:33.96 And Herod doesn't like what's happening. 00:20:34.00\00:20:35.60 So again, a threat is made, you better get out of here 00:20:35.63\00:20:37.97 because Herod's coming after You. 00:20:38.00\00:20:39.50 He said, "You tell that fox, 00:20:39.53\00:20:41.27 that I cast out demons and perform cures," 00:20:41.30\00:20:43.20 notice six months relatively into His ministry, 00:20:43.24\00:20:46.31 "today, tomorrow, 00:20:46.34\00:20:47.68 and the third day I should be perfected." 00:20:47.71\00:20:49.14 Did Jesus continue His ministry three more days 00:20:49.18\00:20:51.58 or three more years? 00:20:51.61\00:20:53.58 So we see that Jesus applies the year-day principle 00:20:53.62\00:20:56.48 even to His own ministry. 00:20:56.52\00:20:58.62 So I believe that very clearly in Scripture 00:20:58.65\00:21:00.96 we see this verified. 00:21:00.99\00:21:02.32 Now the question I want to ask 00:21:02.36\00:21:03.69 is how and in what situation 00:21:03.73\00:21:05.09 do we justify using this year-day principle. 00:21:05.13\00:21:08.56 And I want to read some text here very quickly. 00:21:08.60\00:21:10.37 I'm not going to go in depth, 00:21:10.40\00:21:11.73 but I just want to mention them. 00:21:11.77\00:21:13.57 We're speaking of text using prophetic timing 00:21:13.60\00:21:15.80 such as Daniel 7:25, 00:21:15.84\00:21:18.01 which toward the end of that particular verse, 00:21:18.04\00:21:19.97 it says, "Then the saints shall be given to his hand 00:21:20.01\00:21:22.38 for a time and times and a half a time." 00:21:22.41\00:21:25.35 What do we do with that? 00:21:25.38\00:21:26.72 Is that, that's clearly prophetic timing. 00:21:26.75\00:21:28.62 Also Daniel 8:14, which we mentioned earlier. 00:21:28.65\00:21:31.15 "And he said to me, for 2300 days, 00:21:31.19\00:21:33.76 then the sanctuary shall be cleansed." 00:21:33.79\00:21:35.49 Is that literal days 00:21:35.52\00:21:36.86 or are we talking about this year-day principle 00:21:36.89\00:21:39.23 being applied years. 00:21:39.26\00:21:40.80 We'll come back to that in just a moment. 00:21:40.83\00:21:42.63 Also Revelation 12:6, where it says, 00:21:42.66\00:21:45.50 "Then the woman fled into the wilderness, 00:21:45.53\00:21:46.90 where she had a place prepared by God, 00:21:46.94\00:21:49.20 that they should feed her there 1,260 days." 00:21:49.24\00:21:53.27 So was this the literal days or are we talking about years? 00:21:53.31\00:21:56.51 Okay. 00:21:56.54\00:21:57.88 And then, of course, another example, 00:21:57.91\00:21:59.25 Revelation 13:5, 00:21:59.28\00:22:00.88 speaking of that Antichrist power, 00:22:00.92\00:22:02.88 it says, "And he was given a mouth 00:22:02.92\00:22:04.25 speaking great things and blasphemies, 00:22:04.29\00:22:06.19 and he was given authority to continue 42 months." 00:22:06.22\00:22:10.73 So what we want to establish here 00:22:10.76\00:22:12.83 is there are three elements 00:22:12.86\00:22:15.36 to support a year-day principle 00:22:15.40\00:22:17.37 in these prophecies of Daniel 00:22:17.40\00:22:18.73 and Revelation that we mentioned. 00:22:18.77\00:22:20.10 Now, I just gave reference to four. 00:22:20.14\00:22:21.47 There's many others 00:22:21.50\00:22:22.84 that we don't have time to mention, 00:22:22.87\00:22:24.21 but I want to establish these elements. 00:22:24.24\00:22:25.57 Here it is. 00:22:25.61\00:22:26.94 The first one is the use of symbols. 00:22:26.98\00:22:28.44 Okay? 00:22:28.48\00:22:29.81 Because the majority of these passages are symbolic, 00:22:29.84\00:22:33.31 it would only make sense 00:22:33.35\00:22:34.72 that the numbers are also symbolic as well. 00:22:34.75\00:22:37.05 So we can't read these chapters and see all of the symbolism 00:22:37.09\00:22:39.45 come to the numbers and say, 00:22:39.49\00:22:40.82 Oh, those are literal numbers. 00:22:40.86\00:22:42.39 It fits the theme that symbolism, 00:22:42.42\00:22:44.29 symbolism, symbolism all the way through, 00:22:44.33\00:22:46.19 symbolic beasts, symbolic numbers, 00:22:46.23\00:22:48.56 symbolic timeframes as well. 00:22:48.60\00:22:50.90 The second point that solidifies or verifies 00:22:50.93\00:22:54.07 the use of this principle is, 00:22:54.10\00:22:57.11 of course, the long time periods. 00:22:57.14\00:22:59.64 These are extensive long time periods. 00:22:59.67\00:23:01.28 So many of the events and kingdoms 00:23:01.31\00:23:03.24 depicted in the prophecies cover a span of many centuries. 00:23:03.28\00:23:07.02 If the numbers were taken literal, 00:23:07.05\00:23:09.25 then the time prophecies would not harmonize 00:23:09.28\00:23:11.25 with the span of time 00:23:11.29\00:23:12.62 in which the kingdoms represent. 00:23:12.65\00:23:14.56 Okay? So that's number two. 00:23:14.59\00:23:16.36 And the number three very quickly, 00:23:16.39\00:23:18.09 is the peculiar expressions and how they're said. 00:23:18.13\00:23:21.06 The peculiar expressions used to designate 00:23:21.10\00:23:22.90 these time periods suggests a symbolic interpretation. 00:23:22.93\00:23:25.73 And we're talking about, you know, 00:23:25.77\00:23:27.10 these are not common ways to express time, you know, 00:23:27.14\00:23:29.50 I'm not going to come to you and say, you know, 00:23:29.54\00:23:31.07 Brother Kenny, I wanna you to come to my house 00:23:31.11\00:23:33.81 and spend 13 evenings and mornings with me, 00:23:33.84\00:23:36.68 you know, it's just not a common time 00:23:36.71\00:23:38.28 or time times and a half of time, right? 00:23:38.31\00:23:40.62 And, of course, the 42 months, 00:23:40.65\00:23:41.98 how many people do you know say, 00:23:42.02\00:23:43.35 you know, how old is that kid? 00:23:43.39\00:23:44.72 Oh, he's 42 months. 00:23:44.75\00:23:46.29 You know, we don't talk like this. 00:23:46.32\00:23:47.69 So these are definitely symbolic language expressions 00:23:47.72\00:23:50.99 to communicate 00:23:51.03\00:23:52.36 that we're not talking about literal time periods, 00:23:52.39\00:23:54.80 we're not talking about literal days. 00:23:54.83\00:23:56.60 But if you apply this prophetic principle, 00:23:56.63\00:23:59.17 a year-day principle, 00:23:59.20\00:24:00.54 then you are establishing a healthy interpretation 00:24:00.57\00:24:04.14 that makes sense. 00:24:04.17\00:24:05.57 And then in just really closing here 00:24:05.61\00:24:06.94 when we consider Daniel 8:14, 2,300 years. 00:24:06.98\00:24:10.08 I mean, if that was literal days 00:24:10.11\00:24:11.51 that would have put Daniel 00:24:11.55\00:24:12.98 about six years into the future. 00:24:13.01\00:24:15.22 But we know that if you read Daniel Chapter 8, 00:24:15.25\00:24:17.32 it's talking about the time of the end, 00:24:17.35\00:24:19.95 not 2,300 days but 2,300 years. 00:24:19.99\00:24:23.46 Year-day principle, use it responsibly. 00:24:23.49\00:24:27.13 And it's awesome, 00:24:27.16\00:24:28.86 it really helps us to understand 00:24:28.90\00:24:30.47 Bible prophecy better. 00:24:30.50\00:24:31.83 Amen. Thank you so much, Ryan. 00:24:31.87\00:24:33.57 You know I've studied and understood 00:24:33.60\00:24:35.30 the year-day principle, 00:24:35.34\00:24:36.67 but you shared some things 00:24:36.71\00:24:38.04 that were new for me in interpreting it. 00:24:38.07\00:24:40.14 That was great. Thank you. 00:24:40.18\00:24:41.88 We're gonna take a short break. 00:24:41.91\00:24:43.24 We'll be right back. 00:24:43.28\00:24:44.61 Ever wish you could watch 00:24:49.55\00:24:50.89 a 3ABN Sabbath 00:25:27.99\00:25:29.42 Well, I'm going to build on what you started, Jill, 00:25:29.46\00:25:31.16 because mine is, in fact, 00:25:31.19\00:25:32.59 identifying the little horn 00:25:32.63\00:25:36.10 of Daniel 7 and Daniel 8. 00:25:36.13\00:25:40.00 I want to begin with a couple of things though, 00:25:40.04\00:25:42.07 because we talked about different schools of thought, 00:25:42.10\00:25:46.68 futurism, preterism and historicism. 00:25:46.71\00:25:51.31 Strangely enough, 00:25:51.35\00:25:52.88 because historicism is a confluence, 00:25:52.91\00:25:55.65 it's a linear understanding of Bible prophecy. 00:25:55.68\00:25:58.45 You find that historicism then, it has a past, 00:25:58.49\00:26:01.79 it has a present and it has a future. 00:26:01.82\00:26:04.63 While it's not futurism, 00:26:04.66\00:26:06.66 all of the prophecies outlined in historicism 00:26:06.70\00:26:10.13 have not been fulfilled. 00:26:10.17\00:26:12.07 So there is a future aspect of historicism 00:26:12.10\00:26:14.64 not known as futurism, 00:26:14.67\00:26:16.97 because futurism pushes 00:26:17.01\00:26:18.67 all of a prophecy to the future. 00:26:18.71\00:26:21.41 But historicism has a continual linear unfolding. 00:26:21.44\00:26:24.85 As you find the four kingdoms, 00:26:24.88\00:26:27.05 Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. 00:26:27.08\00:26:29.02 In Babylon's day, then Medo-Persia, 00:26:29.05\00:26:31.09 Greece and Rome were futurists, 00:26:31.12\00:26:32.85 were of future understanding. 00:26:32.89\00:26:35.09 In John's day, he was living at the time when Babylon, 00:26:35.12\00:26:39.16 Medo-Persia and Greece had already fallen. 00:26:39.19\00:26:40.53 That's right. 00:26:40.56\00:26:41.90 He was living in the time of political Rome, 00:26:41.93\00:26:46.43 or the secular aspects of Rome. 00:26:46.47\00:26:49.37 But then the papal part of it was yet to come. 00:26:49.40\00:26:52.17 So when you look at historicism, 00:26:52.21\00:26:54.24 there's a continual unfolding 00:26:54.28\00:26:55.98 and we know as we look at the books of Revelation, 00:26:56.01\00:26:59.18 at the book of Revelation and Daniel together, 00:26:59.21\00:27:01.98 there are some aspects that are yet to be fulfilled, 00:27:02.02\00:27:04.75 which we don't call futurism, 00:27:04.79\00:27:06.72 but simply 00:27:06.76\00:27:08.09 the latter components of historicism. 00:27:08.12\00:27:10.93 I want to add one more thing. 00:27:10.96\00:27:12.29 There's also three other schools of thought, 00:27:12.33\00:27:16.50 pre-tribulation, pre-millennialism, 00:27:16.53\00:27:19.33 then this post-tribulation, pre-millennialism. 00:27:19.37\00:27:22.80 And then there's a millennialism. 00:27:22.84\00:27:25.37 Let me go ahead and identify those very quickly 00:27:25.41\00:27:27.41 because we're going to get 00:27:27.44\00:27:28.78 to the little horn here in just a moment 00:27:28.81\00:27:30.15 and show you how that fits 00:27:30.18\00:27:31.51 into the categorical description 00:27:31.55\00:27:33.01 of each of those aspects of understanding prophecy. 00:27:33.05\00:27:35.98 Post-tribulation, 00:27:36.02\00:27:37.35 pre-millennialism fits into the category, 00:27:37.39\00:27:39.32 you may have heard about the rapture 00:27:39.35\00:27:41.02 or the secret rapture, 00:27:41.06\00:27:42.99 meaning people believe that before the tribulation, 00:27:43.02\00:27:45.89 sorry, pre-tribulation, 00:27:45.93\00:27:48.26 pre-millennialism is what fits into the rapture. 00:27:48.30\00:27:51.40 People believe that before the tribulation 00:27:51.43\00:27:54.37 and before the thousand years is when Jesus is going to come. 00:27:54.40\00:27:58.17 But the Bible speaks of the return of Christ 00:27:58.21\00:28:00.68 as post-tribulation, meaning after the tribulation, 00:28:00.71\00:28:05.25 before the thousand years 00:28:05.28\00:28:06.88 is when the return of Jesus is going to come. 00:28:06.92\00:28:09.45 We are post-tribulation, pre-millennialists. 00:28:09.48\00:28:13.96 Try to remember that on tomorrow. 00:28:13.99\00:28:16.32 Then there's a third category 00:28:16.36\00:28:17.79 which came along later on that's called a millennialism, 00:28:17.83\00:28:21.46 which a millennialist believe 00:28:21.50\00:28:22.83 that we are living in the thousand year period. 00:28:22.86\00:28:26.84 And they believe that 00:28:26.87\00:28:28.20 at the end of the thousand year period, 00:28:28.24\00:28:29.70 Jesus will come, 00:28:29.74\00:28:31.14 destroy sin and make the earth, renew the earth. 00:28:31.17\00:28:35.14 We are not a millennialist. 00:28:35.18\00:28:36.78 That's a smaller school of thought. 00:28:36.81\00:28:39.01 So primarily all of Christendom 00:28:39.05\00:28:40.75 is broken down into post-tribulation 00:28:40.78\00:28:42.98 or pre-tribulation, we are post, 00:28:43.02\00:28:45.49 meaning Jesus is going to come after the tribulation. 00:28:45.52\00:28:48.32 That's why Psalms 91 is so significant. 00:28:48.36\00:28:51.06 He talked about in the time of trouble, 00:28:51.09\00:28:53.19 1000 will fall at your side 00:28:53.23\00:28:54.66 and 10,000 now at your right hand, 00:28:54.70\00:28:56.80 but will not come near you only with your eyes, 00:28:56.83\00:28:59.87 will you behold and see the reward of the wicked. 00:28:59.90\00:29:02.67 And then in Revelation, 00:29:02.70\00:29:04.04 the prayer of Christ was not that, 00:29:04.07\00:29:07.18 not that the church will be taken out of the world, 00:29:07.21\00:29:10.11 but that they'll be kept 00:29:10.15\00:29:11.48 from the trouble 00:29:11.51\00:29:12.85 that will be coming upon the world. 00:29:12.88\00:29:14.32 Then also you go back to the parallel of that, 00:29:14.35\00:29:16.95 in the land of Egypt, 00:29:16.99\00:29:18.52 during the falling of the plagues, 00:29:18.55\00:29:21.16 the Israelites were in Egypt. 00:29:21.19\00:29:23.73 They were not taken out of Egypt yet. 00:29:23.76\00:29:27.20 So seven of those ten plagues affected Egypt. 00:29:27.23\00:29:30.07 The last three affected Israel. 00:29:30.10\00:29:32.20 The last few were primarily for the Egyptians alone. 00:29:32.23\00:29:36.00 And so you see that the whole inference 00:29:36.04\00:29:38.74 of the time of trouble 00:29:38.77\00:29:40.11 or the understanding of prophecy is this fact, 00:29:40.14\00:29:42.94 that people of God are going to be protected 00:29:42.98\00:29:44.98 during that time. 00:29:45.01\00:29:46.35 They're not going to be taken away from that time. 00:29:46.38\00:29:49.02 They'll see the impact, 00:29:49.05\00:29:50.62 but there'll be dwelling in the secret place 00:29:50.65\00:29:52.45 of the Most High, Psalm 91. 00:29:52.49\00:29:54.72 Now the little horn, Jill, you did a very good job, 00:29:54.76\00:29:57.33 but what I want to add to that is 2 Peter 1:20. 00:29:57.36\00:30:00.00 The Bible says, 00:30:00.03\00:30:01.36 one of the reasons why we understand 00:30:01.40\00:30:03.26 Bible prophecy 00:30:03.30\00:30:05.20 the way we do is we don't allow 00:30:05.23\00:30:07.87 Scripture to be a private interpretations, 00:30:07.90\00:30:10.91 knowing this first that no prophecy of Scripture 00:30:10.94\00:30:14.48 is of any private interpretation. 00:30:14.51\00:30:16.64 I think in one of our prior lessons, 00:30:16.68\00:30:18.01 we pointed out 00:30:18.05\00:30:19.38 that the Bible identifies its own symbols. 00:30:19.41\00:30:21.92 And this is really important 00:30:21.95\00:30:23.28 because if you go outside of the Bible 00:30:23.32\00:30:25.72 to begin to identify symbols, 00:30:25.75\00:30:27.59 there are people that identify what's happening in the Bible 00:30:27.62\00:30:30.03 based on news reports, 00:30:30.06\00:30:32.83 or based on some war 00:30:32.86\00:30:34.20 that's taking place in the Middle East. 00:30:34.23\00:30:35.56 I remember when the Gulf War happened 00:30:35.60\00:30:37.47 in 1991, 00:30:37.50\00:30:39.53 a whole host of pastors and evangelical leaders said, 00:30:39.57\00:30:44.17 "Oh, this is the battle of Armageddon." 00:30:44.21\00:30:47.34 And I remember very well, newspaper editor 00:30:47.38\00:30:50.28 in the Vallejo Times in Vallejo, California, 00:30:50.31\00:30:52.81 wrote in the article. 00:30:52.85\00:30:54.18 He says, "If you are so sure 00:30:54.22\00:30:55.88 that this is the battle of Armageddon, 00:30:55.92\00:30:59.55 why didn't you tell us before it happened." 00:30:59.59\00:31:02.66 And we found out 00:31:02.69\00:31:04.03 that the Gulf War was just the Gulf War, 00:31:04.06\00:31:06.06 it was not the battle of Armageddon. 00:31:06.09\00:31:09.20 So what's pointed out in this 00:31:09.23\00:31:10.57 as far as the little horn's power 00:31:10.60\00:31:12.13 is concerned, remember, as Jill pointed out Daniel 2, 00:31:12.17\00:31:16.47 the gold, the silver, the bronze, the iron, 00:31:16.50\00:31:19.54 and you didn't get to the iron and clay, 00:31:19.57\00:31:21.51 which is in the feet and the ten toes 00:31:21.54\00:31:23.08 where the iron and clay are still mixed, 00:31:23.11\00:31:24.85 showing that in the course of human history, 00:31:24.88\00:31:27.08 down at the very end, 00:31:27.12\00:31:28.45 the iron and clay are going to be involved 00:31:28.48\00:31:30.45 in the closing scenes. 00:31:30.49\00:31:31.82 Then you have in Daniel Chapter 7, 00:31:31.85\00:31:33.92 you have the lion, you have what else? 00:31:33.96\00:31:36.09 The bear, you have the leopard with four heads and four wings. 00:31:36.12\00:31:39.13 Then you have the nondescript beast 00:31:39.16\00:31:40.96 which has iron teeth, 00:31:41.00\00:31:42.96 that tramples and breaks the residue of the earth 00:31:43.00\00:31:46.40 with its feet. 00:31:46.43\00:31:47.77 Then the iron in that beast is parallel to the iron 00:31:47.80\00:31:52.34 in the image of Daniel 2, 00:31:52.37\00:31:54.31 which is in the toes of that image, 00:31:54.34\00:31:56.61 meaning that we all know now historically, 00:31:56.64\00:31:59.25 that the only four kingdoms that we had in antiquity 00:31:59.28\00:32:02.05 that still exist today is the kingdom of Rome. 00:32:02.08\00:32:05.49 That's right. 00:32:05.52\00:32:06.86 And so when we think about Rome 00:32:06.89\00:32:08.22 and its part in Latter Day Events, 00:32:08.26\00:32:12.16 it is not... 00:32:12.19\00:32:14.30 It's not pagan any longer, 00:32:14.33\00:32:16.36 gets pagan and politically religious. 00:32:16.40\00:32:20.64 So it maintains its pagan aspects 00:32:20.67\00:32:23.51 from where 00:32:23.54\00:32:24.87 its worship principles have come from, 00:32:24.91\00:32:27.31 but it's very political. 00:32:27.34\00:32:28.91 So we can say, it's a religio-political power. 00:32:28.94\00:32:32.08 But when you think of Daniel 7 and 8, 00:32:32.11\00:32:34.42 and that's what 00:32:34.45\00:32:35.78 this particular day was pointing out, 00:32:35.82\00:32:37.15 so what you did, Jill, was wonderful. 00:32:37.19\00:32:38.85 You took the broader view, but in Daniel 7 and 8, 00:32:38.89\00:32:42.49 it identifies seven particular principles 00:32:42.52\00:32:45.76 to show that Rome is involved in both of these chapters. 00:32:45.79\00:32:49.46 So let's bring out one of those. 00:32:49.50\00:32:50.87 First of all, 00:32:50.90\00:32:52.23 both are described in Daniel 7 and 8 as a horn. 00:32:52.27\00:32:57.34 You find clearly in Daniel 7. 00:32:57.37\00:32:59.57 The Bible says in Daniel 7:8, 20 and 25. 00:32:59.61\00:33:03.04 I'll just read verse 8, 00:33:03.08\00:33:04.81 "I was considering the horns, 00:33:04.85\00:33:06.78 and there was another horn, a little one." 00:33:06.82\00:33:11.15 Verse 20, "And the ten horns that were on its head, 00:33:11.19\00:33:14.82 and the other horn." 00:33:14.86\00:33:17.03 And then verse 25, 00:33:17.06\00:33:18.66 speaking about that horn, 00:33:18.69\00:33:20.03 "He shall speak pompous or great words 00:33:20.06\00:33:22.13 against the Most High," 00:33:22.16\00:33:23.53 describing what it's going to do. 00:33:23.57\00:33:25.03 So Rome, you'll find clearly in history, 00:33:25.07\00:33:28.90 one of the most outspoken powers against God 00:33:28.94\00:33:32.41 was the bishops and the popes of Rome, 00:33:32.44\00:33:36.64 as it were to almost to try to confiscate God's authority 00:33:36.68\00:33:42.08 and in His Holiness 00:33:42.12\00:33:43.45 by calling themselves God on earth, 00:33:43.49\00:33:46.32 saying that even angels are subject 00:33:46.35\00:33:48.32 to their dictates and their laws. 00:33:48.36\00:33:50.56 So they did describe themselves as the Bible does. 00:33:50.59\00:33:53.63 So both are described as horns, the other one, 00:33:53.66\00:33:56.20 both are described as persecuting powers. 00:33:56.23\00:34:00.04 Very carefully, 00:34:00.07\00:34:01.60 both are self exalting and blasphemous. 00:34:01.64\00:34:05.37 What does blasphemous mean? 00:34:05.41\00:34:06.74 That means when you try to usurp a position 00:34:06.78\00:34:09.84 and an authority that belongs only to God. 00:34:09.88\00:34:12.61 Prime example, 00:34:12.65\00:34:13.98 who can forgive sin but God alone. 00:34:14.02\00:34:17.02 And Rome claims to be able, 00:34:17.05\00:34:18.39 the leaders of Rome claimed to be able to forgive sin. 00:34:18.42\00:34:20.92 But there's only one mediator between God and man, 00:34:20.96\00:34:23.16 that's the man Christ Jesus. 00:34:23.19\00:34:24.73 But Rome, its leadership in the religious sense 00:34:24.76\00:34:27.40 tend to be in a mediatorial role 00:34:27.43\00:34:29.96 between God and man. 00:34:30.00\00:34:31.53 And you find Mary continually, 00:34:31.57\00:34:32.97 I was just reading an article recently. 00:34:33.00\00:34:34.84 He says, Mary, 00:34:34.87\00:34:36.67 and we had a terrible tragedy recently, 00:34:36.71\00:34:38.91 some somebody famous passed away, but they said, 00:34:38.94\00:34:42.21 "May Mary be your intermediary 00:34:42.24\00:34:44.88 between your family and you now." 00:34:44.91\00:34:47.58 Well, you know, we love Mary 00:34:47.62\00:34:48.95 but Mary's sleeping in her grave. 00:34:48.98\00:34:51.09 So very quickly, both are self exalting powers. 00:34:51.12\00:34:53.46 The fourth thing, both target the people of God. 00:34:53.49\00:34:57.53 The fifth point, 00:34:57.56\00:34:59.09 both had aspects of their activity 00:34:59.13\00:35:02.70 delineated by a prophetic time. 00:35:02.73\00:35:05.03 In other words, they're both locked 00:35:05.07\00:35:06.43 to a particular time when they came into existence 00:35:06.47\00:35:09.00 and when they will receive a wound. 00:35:09.04\00:35:11.07 The sixth point, 00:35:11.11\00:35:12.44 both of them extend until the end of time 00:35:12.47\00:35:15.38 clearly pointing out that fourth kingdom, 00:35:15.41\00:35:18.35 the power of Rome, 00:35:18.38\00:35:19.71 and both are to be supernaturally destroyed. 00:35:19.75\00:35:25.35 God in essence is going to have the final say. 00:35:25.39\00:35:28.02 No power whether great or small 00:35:28.06\00:35:30.33 will survive the kingdom of God. 00:35:30.36\00:35:32.73 That's right. Amen. 00:35:32.76\00:35:34.10 Amen. Amen. 00:35:34.13\00:35:35.53 Well, by now, I think 00:35:35.56\00:35:37.47 our viewers and listeners have realized 00:35:37.50\00:35:40.74 that you have to pay close attention 00:35:40.77\00:35:43.04 to each and every part of this 00:35:43.07\00:35:44.41 because we're dealing with Bible prophecy. 00:35:44.44\00:35:46.27 A lot of information is being thrown at you 00:35:46.31\00:35:49.24 that is very important, very vital. 00:35:49.28\00:35:52.35 The part that I have to do, 00:35:52.38\00:35:53.72 I have the list to follow just to cover a portion 00:35:53.75\00:35:55.62 that the first time I explained to somebody 00:35:55.65\00:35:57.62 took me 45 minutes. 00:35:57.65\00:36:00.36 Let's see what, how far we can get. 00:36:00.39\00:36:03.93 Let's go to the lesson entitled 00:36:03.96\00:36:08.00 "The Investigative Judgment." 00:36:08.03\00:36:11.57 I would like to read from Matthew 16:27 to 28. 00:36:11.60\00:36:15.77 After I read this, 00:36:15.80\00:36:18.14 maybe Pastor Ryan can read Revelation 22:12, for me. 00:36:18.17\00:36:22.38 So Matthew 16:27 and 28. 00:36:22.41\00:36:25.01 The Bible says, 00:36:25.05\00:36:26.38 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, 00:36:26.41\00:36:31.49 and loses his own soul? 00:36:31.52\00:36:33.52 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 00:36:33.56\00:36:36.76 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father 00:36:36.79\00:36:40.26 with His angels, 00:36:40.30\00:36:41.63 and then He will reward each according to his works. 00:36:41.66\00:36:46.90 Now, Revelation 22:12. 00:36:46.94\00:36:49.04 Revelation 22:12, says, 00:36:49.07\00:36:51.64 "And behold, I am coming quickly, 00:36:51.67\00:36:53.07 and My reward is with Me, 00:36:53.11\00:36:54.44 to give to every one according to his work." 00:36:54.48\00:36:57.58 Thank you very much. 00:36:57.61\00:36:58.95 So we see these two scriptures 00:36:58.98\00:37:01.22 tell us that when Jesus comes in His glory, 00:37:01.25\00:37:04.29 He is coming to give people according to their works. 00:37:04.32\00:37:08.16 This helps us to understand that before this 00:37:08.19\00:37:10.63 there is an investigative judgment 00:37:10.66\00:37:12.69 that takes place. 00:37:12.73\00:37:14.06 And this is what we're going to go into 00:37:14.10\00:37:16.03 as we go 00:37:16.06\00:37:17.40 into Revelation Chapter 7 and 8, and even 9. 00:37:17.43\00:37:21.00 So the prophetic outline 00:37:21.04\00:37:22.90 that we have been studying this week 00:37:22.94\00:37:25.07 really has found 00:37:25.11\00:37:27.21 what the lesson calls overwhelming support 00:37:27.24\00:37:29.24 among Protestant historicists since the era, 00:37:29.28\00:37:32.58 the Reformation. 00:37:32.61\00:37:34.08 But the part about the investigative judgment, 00:37:34.12\00:37:37.72 it was not until the 1800s 00:37:37.75\00:37:39.95 that this began to be understood. 00:37:39.99\00:37:43.16 Because, like it says in the Book of Daniel, 00:37:43.19\00:37:46.09 the angel told them to seal up those things. 00:37:46.13\00:37:49.10 It is for the time of the end. 00:37:49.13\00:37:51.37 So as we arrive at the time of the end, 00:37:51.40\00:37:53.23 these things became clearer for God's people. 00:37:53.27\00:37:56.07 And this is why we can tell you 00:37:56.10\00:37:58.14 that there is an investigative judgment 00:37:58.17\00:38:00.24 going on right now, 00:38:00.28\00:38:02.24 and you must pay close attention to this. 00:38:02.28\00:38:05.55 We encourage you to read Daniel 7, 00:38:05.58\00:38:08.08 8 and 9 carefully to understand this better. 00:38:08.12\00:38:11.35 But we're going to give you like a brief, 00:38:11.39\00:38:13.56 very brief outline of what's going on. 00:38:13.59\00:38:16.32 Let's go to Daniel 7:9-14. 00:38:16.36\00:38:18.86 Daniel 7:9-14, 00:38:18.89\00:38:22.26 "I watched till thrones were put in place, 00:38:22.30\00:38:25.00 and the Ancient of Days was seated, 00:38:25.03\00:38:27.90 His garment was white as snow, 00:38:27.94\00:38:29.87 and the hair of His head was like pure wool. 00:38:29.90\00:38:32.47 His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire. 00:38:32.51\00:38:37.25 A fiery stream issued and came forth 00:38:37.28\00:38:40.25 from before Him. 00:38:40.28\00:38:41.62 A thousand thousands ministered to Him, 00:38:41.65\00:38:44.45 ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him." 00:38:44.49\00:38:47.96 A very important thing is taking place. 00:38:47.99\00:38:49.86 Notice, "The court was seated, and the books were opened." 00:38:49.89\00:38:55.23 This is a court scene that is taking place here 00:38:55.26\00:38:57.53 in Daniel Chapter 7 00:38:57.57\00:38:59.43 in the midst of what's going on the earth, 00:38:59.47\00:39:01.57 this is happening in heaven. 00:39:01.60\00:39:04.54 Notice now as we move on to verse 11. 00:39:04.57\00:39:07.08 "I watched then 00:39:07.11\00:39:08.44 because of the sound of the pompous words 00:39:08.48\00:39:10.65 which the horn was speaking," 00:39:10.68\00:39:12.35 which we have already talked about. 00:39:12.38\00:39:14.72 While this is going on, 00:39:14.75\00:39:16.69 on earth that is going on in heaven 00:39:16.72\00:39:18.05 that we're talking about. 00:39:18.09\00:39:19.42 "I watched till the beast was slain, 00:39:19.45\00:39:21.39 and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 00:39:21.42\00:39:25.29 As for the rest of the beasts, 00:39:25.33\00:39:26.73 they had their dominion taken away, 00:39:26.76\00:39:29.50 yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time. 00:39:29.53\00:39:33.20 I was watching," notice this, 00:39:33.23\00:39:35.24 "in the night visions, and behold, 00:39:35.27\00:39:37.17 One like the Son of Man, 00:39:37.21\00:39:38.64 coming with the clouds of heaven!" 00:39:38.67\00:39:41.28 Now people think, oh, wait a minute, 00:39:41.31\00:39:42.64 Jesus Christ is coming to earth to rescue His children. 00:39:42.68\00:39:45.08 No, pay close attention. 00:39:45.11\00:39:47.05 Where does He go? 00:39:47.08\00:39:48.82 The verse continues by saying, 00:39:48.85\00:39:50.19 "He came to the Ancient of Days, 00:39:50.22\00:39:52.79 and they brought Him near before Him." 00:39:52.82\00:39:56.79 So in verse 13, 00:39:56.83\00:39:58.19 it establishes that Jesus the Son of man 00:39:58.23\00:40:01.70 goes before the Ancient of Days, 00:40:01.73\00:40:04.13 where the scene of judgment is taking place. 00:40:04.17\00:40:07.30 Remember that the books are open, 00:40:07.34\00:40:09.57 the court was seated and the books were open. 00:40:09.60\00:40:11.47 This is where Jesus is brought. This is a court scene. 00:40:11.51\00:40:14.04 This is the investigative judgment 00:40:14.08\00:40:16.14 that is described here in Daniel. 00:40:16.18\00:40:20.32 This is a parallel passage. 00:40:20.35\00:40:22.05 I'm trying to say parallel passage 00:40:22.08\00:40:23.55 in Daniel Chapter 7 to Daniel Chapter 8. 00:40:23.59\00:40:26.09 Now let's finish verse 14. 00:40:26.12\00:40:28.99 "Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, 00:40:29.02\00:40:33.73 that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. 00:40:33.76\00:40:36.90 His dominion is an everlasting dominion, 00:40:36.93\00:40:39.37 which shall not pass away, 00:40:39.40\00:40:40.80 and His kingdom 00:40:40.84\00:40:42.17 the one which shall not be destroyed." 00:40:42.20\00:40:44.77 This is a parallel passage 00:40:44.81\00:40:46.14 to what's going on in Daniel Chapter 8. 00:40:46.17\00:40:48.84 And we'll have to move quickly to Daniel 8:14. 00:40:48.88\00:40:52.81 You have already heard this 2,300 days, 00:40:52.85\00:40:56.92 day for a year prophecy. 00:40:56.95\00:40:59.39 This is what we're talking about, 00:40:59.42\00:41:00.76 so it's 2,300 years. 00:41:00.79\00:41:02.49 Let's read Daniel 8:14. 00:41:02.52\00:41:05.09 "And he said to me, for 2,300 days, 00:41:05.13\00:41:09.60 then the sanctuary shall be cleansed." 00:41:09.63\00:41:12.23 Yes, some Bible version say 00:41:12.27\00:41:15.20 unto 2,000 evenings and mornings, 00:41:15.24\00:41:19.04 then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. 00:41:19.07\00:41:20.61 The question is, what sanctuary? 00:41:20.64\00:41:22.81 Is it the sanctuary on earth, or is it a sanctuary in heaven? 00:41:22.84\00:41:26.25 This is a parallel passage to Daniel Chapter 7, 00:41:26.28\00:41:29.65 where the court is seated and the books are open. 00:41:29.68\00:41:32.89 This is an investigative judgment 00:41:32.92\00:41:34.46 prior to Jesus Christ coming to this earth. 00:41:34.49\00:41:37.39 Every case must be decided, because when He comes, 00:41:37.43\00:41:41.60 He is coming with His reward to get to every person 00:41:41.63\00:41:44.43 according to his works. 00:41:44.47\00:41:46.40 So let's move quickly now. 00:41:46.43\00:41:48.80 Let's read Daniel 8:26 and 27. 00:41:48.84\00:41:52.71 "And the vision of the evenings and mornings 00:41:52.74\00:41:55.08 which was told is true, therefore seal up the vision, 00:41:55.11\00:41:59.35 for it refers to many days in the future." 00:41:59.38\00:42:03.99 And Daniel's like, he was shocked. 00:42:04.02\00:42:06.76 "And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick for days, 00:42:06.79\00:42:09.09 afterward I arose and went about the king's business. 00:42:09.12\00:42:12.29 I was astonished by the vision, but no one understood it." 00:42:12.33\00:42:15.36 Daniel wanted to understand 00:42:15.40\00:42:17.13 what was going to happen to his people. 00:42:17.17\00:42:19.03 And he continued and prayed and prayed, 00:42:19.07\00:42:21.57 asking for understanding, 00:42:21.60\00:42:23.10 but it was to be sealed till the time of the end, 00:42:23.14\00:42:25.91 the early 1800s, like I mentioned. 00:42:25.94\00:42:28.24 Let's go to Daniel 9:24. 00:42:28.28\00:42:30.01 We have to find the starting point 00:42:30.05\00:42:31.48 of these 2,300 years. 00:42:31.51\00:42:34.22 In Daniel 9:24, 00:42:34.25\00:42:36.69 we pick up the prophecy 00:42:36.72\00:42:38.05 because here is something powerful 00:42:38.09\00:42:40.52 that we must understand 70 weeks prophecy, 00:42:40.56\00:42:43.96 weeks of prophecy. 00:42:43.99\00:42:45.33 "Seventy weeks are determined 00:42:45.36\00:42:46.93 for your people and for your holy city, 00:42:46.96\00:42:50.17 to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, 00:42:50.20\00:42:53.50 to make reconciliation for iniquity, 00:42:53.54\00:42:56.20 to bring in everlasting righteousness, 00:42:56.24\00:42:58.27 to seal up vision and prophecy, 00:42:58.31\00:43:00.28 and to anoint the Most Holy." 00:43:00.31\00:43:04.11 A lot is going on here 00:43:04.15\00:43:05.65 that we unfortunately did not have time 00:43:05.68\00:43:07.42 to talk about. 00:43:07.45\00:43:08.95 But this part here where it says 00:43:08.98\00:43:11.85 70 weeks are determined, 00:43:11.89\00:43:13.96 this is cut off, cut off from what? 00:43:13.99\00:43:17.19 Cut off from what? 00:43:17.23\00:43:18.56 From the 2,300 years, the 70 weeks. 00:43:18.59\00:43:23.90 What 70 times 7? Four hundred and ninety. 00:43:23.93\00:43:26.74 So 490 years were to be cut off or separated 00:43:26.77\00:43:29.70 because something was going to happen 00:43:29.74\00:43:31.34 during those 490 years. 00:43:31.37\00:43:33.44 Opportunity for the people of Israel, 00:43:33.48\00:43:35.84 like we read here to, to finish the city, 00:43:35.88\00:43:40.15 to finish transgression, 00:43:40.18\00:43:41.52 to make an end of sins 00:43:41.55\00:43:42.88 and to make reconciliation for iniquity. 00:43:42.92\00:43:44.55 Jesus Christ during these 400 years 00:43:44.59\00:43:46.69 was going to come to make reconciliation 00:43:46.72\00:43:50.06 for His people, for you and I. 00:43:50.09\00:43:51.89 Praise the Lord for that. 00:43:51.93\00:43:53.40 Unfortunately, we do not have time 00:43:53.43\00:43:54.93 to go too much into this. 00:43:54.96\00:43:56.40 Let's go to verse 25. 00:43:56.43\00:43:57.77 "Know therefore and understand, 00:43:57.80\00:43:59.67 that from the going forth of the command to restore 00:43:59.70\00:44:05.44 and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, 00:44:05.47\00:44:08.84 there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, 00:44:08.88\00:44:12.91 the street shall be built again, 00:44:12.95\00:44:14.32 and the wall, even in troublesome times." 00:44:14.35\00:44:18.05 So we have here a mention of a decree, 00:44:18.09\00:44:22.32 a command 00:44:22.36\00:44:23.69 that was supposed to be put forth. 00:44:23.73\00:44:25.09 And that's the starting point 00:44:25.13\00:44:26.76 of the prophecy of the 2,300 years. 00:44:26.80\00:44:30.27 When you go Ezra Chapter 7, 00:44:30.30\00:44:31.90 you'll find a decree by Artaxerxes. 00:44:31.93\00:44:35.10 And this decree is been found, it's been researched. 00:44:35.14\00:44:40.18 It is a day 00:44:40.21\00:44:41.68 that is set in stone, let's say, 00:44:41.71\00:44:44.55 "In the fall of 457 BC, the decree was issued." 00:44:44.58\00:44:48.25 Read Ezra Chapter 7 00:44:48.28\00:44:50.22 to see that it fulfills the details 00:44:50.25\00:44:52.25 specified in Daniel Chapter 9. 00:44:52.29\00:44:55.59 So from that point, 00:44:55.62\00:44:56.96 if you look at your image there 00:44:56.99\00:44:58.96 and those that are listening will just have to imagine this, 00:44:58.99\00:45:01.53 457 counting 2,300 years 00:45:01.56\00:45:06.20 takes you to the year 1844. 00:45:06.23\00:45:10.31 In the fall of 1844, something happened, 00:45:10.34\00:45:14.21 described in Daniel Chapter 7, the Ancient of Days, 00:45:14.24\00:45:18.75 the court is there, and the books are open, 00:45:18.78\00:45:21.98 and Jesus Christ comes before Him. 00:45:22.02\00:45:24.19 Jesus goes from the Holy Place 00:45:24.22\00:45:26.69 to the Most Holy Place 00:45:26.72\00:45:28.32 to decide the case of every individual, 00:45:28.36\00:45:31.69 and starts with the dead, 00:45:31.73\00:45:34.16 then eventually moves to the living. 00:45:34.20\00:45:36.33 And after this, 00:45:36.36\00:45:37.70 Jesus Christ comes shortly after that. 00:45:37.73\00:45:40.94 That's all we have time for. 00:45:40.97\00:45:42.64 I wish we had time for more. Oh, my goodness. 00:45:42.67\00:45:44.61 I like that, you know, it really is encouraging. 00:45:44.64\00:45:46.71 We are living in the time of judgment, 00:45:46.74\00:45:48.88 and it encouraged us to be ready, right, 00:45:48.91\00:45:51.38 for the coming of Jesus. 00:45:51.41\00:45:52.75 So, you know, very good job, 00:45:52.78\00:45:54.12 a lot of material each one of you covered 00:45:54.15\00:45:55.48 is awesome. 00:45:55.52\00:45:56.85 I'm going to do Thursday's lesson 00:45:56.89\00:45:58.22 by the grace of God. 00:45:58.25\00:45:59.59 We're going to talk about typology, 00:45:59.62\00:46:00.96 yeah, in prophecy, you know, what does that mean? 00:46:00.99\00:46:02.76 What is it all about here? 00:46:02.79\00:46:04.16 And then we'll go into some passage of Scripture 00:46:04.19\00:46:05.89 that will maybe help us to understand it. 00:46:05.93\00:46:07.46 Definition, if you're like me, I like definitions of things. 00:46:07.50\00:46:10.60 I can make up my own, but that's not good enough. 00:46:10.63\00:46:12.43 So I'm gonna go what it says here, 00:46:12.47\00:46:14.54 "Typology is a study 00:46:14.57\00:46:15.90 or an analysis of classification 00:46:15.94\00:46:18.07 based on types and categories." 00:46:18.11\00:46:21.51 Notice, or you too, you can say 00:46:21.54\00:46:22.88 it's a doctrine of theological types. 00:46:22.91\00:46:26.18 So here we can see here 00:46:26.21\00:46:27.55 that through these things that Christian belief, 00:46:27.58\00:46:30.09 we're talking about prefigures and symbolize 00:46:30.12\00:46:33.19 by things in the Old Testament and the New Testament, 00:46:33.22\00:46:35.66 I think we can see that pretty clearly. 00:46:35.69\00:46:37.33 So understanding typology is very important 00:46:37.36\00:46:40.73 in study of Scripture. 00:46:40.76\00:46:42.10 And I'll just give you two quick reasons. 00:46:42.13\00:46:44.63 If you wish to conduct research, 00:46:44.67\00:46:47.87 this is one thing that you would want to use 00:46:47.90\00:46:50.31 if you're trying to use 00:46:50.34\00:46:51.94 a different system of classification 00:46:51.97\00:46:53.78 of materials and stuff 00:46:53.81\00:46:55.14 in order to understand how to relate to each other, 00:46:55.18\00:46:57.61 this would be good. 00:46:57.65\00:46:58.98 So how this fits in with all that we're talking about here, 00:46:59.01\00:47:02.58 I think it's very important, 00:47:02.62\00:47:03.95 because we're digging in prophecy. 00:47:03.99\00:47:06.19 We need to understand these things. 00:47:06.22\00:47:07.56 So typology focuses on actual persons, 00:47:07.59\00:47:11.39 and also events, and institutions, 00:47:11.43\00:47:14.23 and things that are founded historically, 00:47:14.26\00:47:17.37 historical reality 00:47:17.40\00:47:18.87 that points forward to a greater reality. 00:47:18.90\00:47:21.00 So it talks about one thing, 00:47:21.04\00:47:22.54 and then also refers to something on later on 00:47:22.57\00:47:25.41 that will be magnified as we go in. 00:47:25.44\00:47:27.34 This method of interpretation 00:47:27.38\00:47:29.14 goes back to Jesus, goes back 00:47:29.18\00:47:30.68 to the New Testament time's writers. 00:47:30.71\00:47:33.31 Of course, it's found in the Old Testament, 00:47:33.35\00:47:34.68 we're gonna look at some of those things 00:47:34.72\00:47:36.05 in a moment. 00:47:36.08\00:47:37.42 All right, our lesson ask us to read these. 00:47:37.45\00:47:38.95 So I'm going to try just to go ahead and read 00:47:38.99\00:47:41.42 these verses if you don't mind. 00:47:41.46\00:47:42.92 Get through them, 1 Corinthians Chapter 10. 00:47:42.96\00:47:45.06 There's a lot of verses here but I think very important 00:47:45.09\00:47:46.96 that we go through them. 00:47:47.00\00:47:48.56 In 1 Corinthians Chapter 10, we read verses 1 through 13 00:47:48.60\00:47:51.40 because this sets the stage here 00:47:51.43\00:47:53.90 for what we want to get across by the grace of God. 00:47:53.94\00:47:56.47 Bible says, " Moreover, brethren, 00:47:56.50\00:47:58.07 I would not that ye should be ignorant, 00:47:58.11\00:48:00.58 how all of our fathers were under the cloud, 00:48:00.61\00:48:03.28 and all passed unto the sea. 00:48:03.31\00:48:06.35 And we're all baptized into Moses in the cloud 00:48:06.38\00:48:09.08 and in the sea. 00:48:09.12\00:48:10.45 And did all eat the same spiritual meat, 00:48:10.49\00:48:12.95 and did all drink the same spiritual drink." 00:48:12.99\00:48:15.72 Notice what it says, it says, 00:48:15.76\00:48:17.09 "For they drink of that spiritual rock 00:48:17.13\00:48:19.53 that followed them" 00:48:19.56\00:48:20.90 and that rock was who? 00:48:20.93\00:48:22.26 Christ, yes. 00:48:22.30\00:48:23.70 "But with many of them, God was not well pleased, 00:48:23.73\00:48:26.97 for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 00:48:27.00\00:48:30.07 Now these things were for," what? 00:48:30.11\00:48:32.77 "For our examples, 00:48:32.81\00:48:34.18 and to the intent we should not lust 00:48:34.21\00:48:35.91 after evil things as they also lusted. 00:48:35.94\00:48:39.05 Neither be idolaters, as were some of them, 00:48:39.08\00:48:41.78 as it is written that people sat down to eat, 00:48:41.82\00:48:44.15 drink, and then they rose up to play." 00:48:44.19\00:48:46.32 It sounds like today almost, isn't it? 00:48:46.35\00:48:47.72 Sure. 00:48:47.76\00:48:49.09 "Neither let us commit fornication 00:48:49.12\00:48:50.49 as some of them committed and fell in the day, 00:48:50.53\00:48:53.80 day three and 20,000, 23, 000." 00:48:53.83\00:48:56.16 It's hard for me to kind of relate 00:48:56.20\00:48:57.53 to such a lot of bodies, a lot of people, 00:48:57.57\00:48:59.40 a lot of things were going on. 00:48:59.43\00:49:00.77 God was displeased. 00:49:00.80\00:49:02.47 "Neither let us tempt Christ as some them also tempted 00:49:02.50\00:49:05.94 and were destroyed by of serpents, 00:49:05.97\00:49:08.38 neither murmur ye, " notice this, 00:49:08.41\00:49:10.75 "as some of them also murmured 00:49:10.78\00:49:12.48 and were destroyed by the destroyer. 00:49:12.51\00:49:15.02 Now all these things happen to them for, 00:49:15.05\00:49:17.32 once again here it is examples, 00:49:17.35\00:49:19.52 "that they were written for our admonition 00:49:19.55\00:49:21.56 upon whom the ends of the world are come." 00:49:21.59\00:49:25.06 Verse 12, "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth 00:49:25.09\00:49:27.90 take heed lest he fall." 00:49:27.93\00:49:29.26 I've used that several times. 00:49:29.30\00:49:30.63 It's been used on me a few times. 00:49:30.67\00:49:32.13 Verse 13, I like this, 00:49:32.17\00:49:33.50 probably most familiar in all the verses. 00:49:33.54\00:49:36.17 It says, "There hath no temptation taken you, 00:49:36.20\00:49:38.84 but such as common to man that God is," I love it, 00:49:38.87\00:49:41.84 "He's faithful, 00:49:41.88\00:49:43.21 who will not suffer you to be tempted above all 00:49:43.24\00:49:45.51 that you're able but will with the temptation," 00:49:45.55\00:49:47.68 do what? 00:49:47.72\00:49:49.15 "Make a way of escape, 00:49:49.18\00:49:51.02 that you may be able to bear it." 00:49:51.05\00:49:53.46 Again, it's been mentioned here, 00:49:53.49\00:49:54.82 He's not going to take us out of it, 00:49:54.86\00:49:57.16 but He's going to provide a way that we can go through it. 00:49:57.19\00:50:00.33 I like that, I think that really adds to that. 00:50:00.36\00:50:02.00 So as we look at this thing, 00:50:02.03\00:50:03.43 let's go back in 1 Corinthians 1:10-13. 00:50:03.47\00:50:06.60 And let's kind of dissect it 00:50:06.63\00:50:07.97 just a little bit in the moments that we have. 00:50:08.00\00:50:09.84 Paul reminds the Corinthians here 00:50:09.87\00:50:11.57 and I think it's reminder to us who are living today. 00:50:11.61\00:50:13.98 It may hit harder to us today. 00:50:14.01\00:50:16.44 He said, not to be basically, don't be puffed up 00:50:16.48\00:50:19.41 with this thing called spiritual pride 00:50:19.45\00:50:21.48 or pride in any form here, 00:50:21.52\00:50:23.82 because you remember Peter there in the Mark 14:31, 00:50:23.85\00:50:28.52 you know, when he said, 00:50:28.56\00:50:29.89 when Jesus was talking to him about... 00:50:29.92\00:50:31.26 Jesus talking to him 00:50:31.29\00:50:32.63 about what he would go through and so on, 00:50:32.66\00:50:34.90 and Peter was telling, 00:50:34.93\00:50:36.26 but I'm going to be right with you. 00:50:36.30\00:50:37.63 And he says, simply right then, he said, 00:50:37.67\00:50:39.37 "If I have to" what? 00:50:39.40\00:50:40.74 "If I have to die, he said, I'm going to do that." 00:50:40.77\00:50:44.67 So we see that there was, can be some spiritual pride. 00:50:44.71\00:50:46.71 There was pride there, 00:50:46.74\00:50:48.08 no matter what I have to go through, 00:50:48.11\00:50:49.44 I'll be able to, I'm gonna follow you 00:50:49.48\00:50:50.81 all the way Lord, and we know what he did. 00:50:50.85\00:50:52.48 So the warning here and Paul has given the warning 00:50:52.51\00:50:54.55 to the Corinthian Church here. 00:50:54.58\00:50:56.38 He said, "Be careful about spiritual pride." 00:50:56.42\00:50:58.32 And we realize even the church and in our own individual life. 00:50:58.35\00:51:01.49 Now notice, the Israelites we know 00:51:01.52\00:51:03.49 were highly favored of God, 00:51:03.53\00:51:05.79 but they fail to enter into the Promised Land 00:51:05.83\00:51:08.86 because they would not follow God's instructions. 00:51:08.90\00:51:11.50 We have to question, 00:51:11.53\00:51:12.87 are we following God's instructions today 00:51:12.90\00:51:15.04 the way that he has them pinned down? 00:51:15.07\00:51:17.07 Not the way we like to see them, 00:51:17.11\00:51:18.47 not the way that we think they ought to be. 00:51:18.51\00:51:20.51 But are we following the way that God had them inspired 00:51:20.54\00:51:23.28 and pin down today. 00:51:23.31\00:51:25.41 That just simply we've to ask ourselves, 00:51:25.45\00:51:28.22 and he's telling the Corinthian believers, 00:51:28.25\00:51:29.95 the church, he's saying, "Look, 00:51:29.98\00:51:31.32 if we do the way they did, 00:51:31.35\00:51:32.69 you're not going to go in either." 00:51:32.72\00:51:34.29 I think sometime even we need to hear that, 00:51:34.32\00:51:36.12 even in the church pews, 00:51:36.16\00:51:37.49 we need to realize 'cause we come to church, 00:51:37.53\00:51:38.96 we pay our tithe, we're here every week, 00:51:38.99\00:51:40.33 doesn't mean we're going to make it 00:51:40.36\00:51:41.70 to the kingdom of God. 00:51:41.73\00:51:43.06 It's him that doeth the will of the Father. 00:51:43.10\00:51:44.93 So, you know, 00:51:44.97\00:51:46.30 we need to be obeying Jesus Christ. 00:51:46.33\00:51:48.20 We realize what? 00:51:48.24\00:51:49.57 They didn't obey out in the wilderness, 00:51:49.60\00:51:51.21 has been meandering, 40 years wandering around. 00:51:51.24\00:51:52.67 Why? 00:51:52.71\00:51:54.04 Because they disobeyed God, it went farther than that, 00:51:54.08\00:51:56.44 because they still didn't learn their lesson. 00:51:56.48\00:51:58.31 And then they went into Babylonian captivity, 00:51:58.35\00:52:00.82 didn't they in Jeremiah Chapter 17? 00:52:00.85\00:52:03.69 Read about that and also Chapter 25. 00:52:03.72\00:52:07.02 They went into captivity. 00:52:07.06\00:52:08.46 There's a warning for us today. 00:52:08.49\00:52:10.46 Many. 00:52:10.49\00:52:11.83 Here's maybe one of the sad things 00:52:11.86\00:52:14.53 is that many did not go 00:52:14.56\00:52:16.97 into the land of milk and honey, 00:52:17.00\00:52:19.73 but they came close. 00:52:19.77\00:52:22.27 Think about it. They came close. 00:52:22.30\00:52:24.61 They almost completed their journey 00:52:24.64\00:52:28.24 and they didn't finish the course. 00:52:28.28\00:52:31.31 And one of the passage I... 00:52:31.35\00:52:32.88 I mean, I really love in Scripture. 00:52:32.91\00:52:34.45 I think it's in 2 Timothy 4:7. 00:52:34.48\00:52:38.49 Paul speaking. 00:52:38.52\00:52:39.85 I've read it a few times, 00:52:39.89\00:52:41.22 and I've cried over it a few times. 00:52:41.26\00:52:42.59 I think that's all right, 00:52:42.62\00:52:43.96 because sometimes it hits home. 00:52:43.99\00:52:45.33 Paul said at the end of his life, 00:52:45.36\00:52:46.73 and that's what I want to say at the end of my life. 00:52:46.76\00:52:49.10 You want to say at the end of your life, 00:52:49.13\00:52:50.47 I know you do. 00:52:50.50\00:52:51.83 He said, "I have run," what? 00:52:51.87\00:52:53.20 "I fought a good fight. 00:52:53.23\00:52:55.84 I have finished the course. 00:52:55.87\00:52:58.97 I have kept the faith." Amen. 00:52:59.01\00:53:01.08 So he finished it, so these Israelites, 00:53:01.11\00:53:03.71 they just about made it to the land of milk, 00:53:03.75\00:53:06.01 but the enemy came in, hit them, 00:53:06.05\00:53:08.05 and they didn't make it into. 00:53:08.08\00:53:09.42 Could happen to us today? 00:53:09.45\00:53:10.79 Though you're saying, we want Jesus come, 00:53:10.82\00:53:12.15 we need to be sure 00:53:12.19\00:53:13.52 that we're ready for Jesus to come. 00:53:13.56\00:53:14.89 We need to be loyal to know to Jesus. 00:53:14.92\00:53:16.39 Take heed, 00:53:16.42\00:53:17.89 it's what it says writer, take heed. 00:53:17.93\00:53:19.26 We're not gonna have time 00:53:19.29\00:53:20.63 to get in all the talks about here. 00:53:20.66\00:53:22.00 Paul takes us back to the Exodus, 00:53:22.03\00:53:23.80 you know, into here. 00:53:23.83\00:53:25.63 Here he's developing a typology. 00:53:25.67\00:53:27.90 This is what we're getting into, 00:53:27.94\00:53:29.27 based on the experience of the ancient Hebrews 00:53:29.30\00:53:32.14 in the wilderness. 00:53:32.17\00:53:33.51 Remember, God inspired Moses to record the events, 00:53:33.54\00:53:37.25 once again it's mentioned at least twice 00:53:37.28\00:53:38.78 what we read for our example. 00:53:38.81\00:53:41.52 The Bible is for our example. We'll read a few of those. 00:53:41.55\00:53:44.49 Maybe we'll have time to go over at least one of them, 00:53:44.52\00:53:46.12 Matthew 12:40. 00:53:46.15\00:53:48.72 Typology, notice how this comes. 00:53:48.76\00:53:50.59 Matthew 12:40, the Bible says, 00:53:50.63\00:53:53.60 "For as Jonas was three days 00:53:53.63\00:53:56.16 and three nights in the whale's belly, 00:53:56.20\00:53:58.67 so shall the Son of man be three days, 00:53:58.70\00:54:00.97 three nights in the heart of the earth." 00:54:01.00\00:54:03.04 So how does it work here? 00:54:03.07\00:54:04.81 For as Jonas or Jonah would be, would he'd be a type? 00:54:04.84\00:54:08.08 Yeah. 00:54:08.11\00:54:09.44 And then for three days three nights 00:54:09.48\00:54:10.81 in the whale's belly, 00:54:10.85\00:54:12.18 so shall the Son of Man, antitype, ain't that right? 00:54:12.21\00:54:15.22 Right for three days, 00:54:15.25\00:54:16.58 three nights in the heart of the earth. 00:54:16.62\00:54:18.02 So each of these, notice, text, Jesus, 00:54:18.05\00:54:21.52 and the New Testament writers apply type 00:54:21.56\00:54:24.69 and antitype interpretation 00:54:24.73\00:54:27.36 and then they allow the prophetic significance 00:54:27.40\00:54:31.77 to just stand out, 00:54:31.80\00:54:33.13 so you can understand it in a greater fulfillment. 00:54:33.17\00:54:36.00 In John 19:36, we have time for one more, John 19:36, 00:54:36.04\00:54:41.28 says, "For these things were," notice this, "were done, 00:54:41.31\00:54:44.31 that the scriptures might be fulfilled of him, 00:54:44.35\00:54:46.78 a bone of him shall not be..." 00:54:46.82\00:54:48.98 Broken. 00:54:49.02\00:54:50.35 "A bone of him shall not be broken." 00:54:50.39\00:54:51.72 You go to Psalms, I think it's 34:20. 00:54:51.75\00:54:55.02 It says, "There he keepeth his bones 00:54:55.06\00:54:57.33 and not one of them would be broken." 00:54:57.36\00:55:00.80 You know, praise God, that there's, you know, 00:55:00.83\00:55:02.86 we can get into the Word of God 00:55:02.90\00:55:04.23 and there's things here we can look at and we'd say, 00:55:04.27\00:55:05.60 praise God. 00:55:05.63\00:55:06.97 To me, it's like he's wanting to take a photo, 00:55:07.00\00:55:08.90 so that we can look it over, 00:55:08.94\00:55:10.27 we can see something developing here. 00:55:10.31\00:55:11.81 And later on, it even develops, you know, 00:55:11.84\00:55:14.14 fuller for us to help us 00:55:14.18\00:55:16.14 of those who are living in these last days. 00:55:16.18\00:55:18.51 Paul's word to the Corinthian Church, 00:55:18.55\00:55:21.02 our words should be to each other today 00:55:21.05\00:55:22.85 to the church, 00:55:22.88\00:55:24.29 this movement, the last day movement, 00:55:24.32\00:55:26.22 is we need to be careful. 00:55:26.25\00:55:27.59 Those things were written for examples on, right? 00:55:27.62\00:55:30.56 And so we need to follow those 00:55:30.59\00:55:31.93 so that we don't come up short. 00:55:31.96\00:55:34.16 You've begun this race, my friend, 00:55:34.20\00:55:35.66 and you have to go to the finish line, 00:55:35.70\00:55:37.40 and only by the grace of God, can you do that. 00:55:37.43\00:55:39.33 Keep your eyes focused upon Jesus, 00:55:39.37\00:55:40.70 and you'll be there. 00:55:40.74\00:55:42.07 Amen. Amen. 00:55:42.10\00:55:43.44 Thank you all so much. 00:55:43.47\00:55:44.81 What an incredible study, The Bible and Prophecy. 00:55:44.84\00:55:47.14 I just think we can have six weeks on this 00:55:47.18\00:55:49.04 and then we could begin to do it justice. 00:55:49.08\00:55:51.55 We want to give each one of you 00:55:51.58\00:55:52.91 a moment to share about your day. 00:55:52.95\00:55:54.28 Yeah, you know, 00:55:54.32\00:55:55.65 I'm not necessarily particularly about my day 00:55:55.68\00:55:58.82 being that I talked about the day-year principle. 00:55:58.85\00:56:01.46 But again, we've talked about prophecy 00:56:01.49\00:56:03.19 and, Brother Kenny, you mentioned something 00:56:03.22\00:56:04.63 just a few minutes ago that take us home. 00:56:04.66\00:56:06.73 And that's the fact that, you know, 00:56:06.76\00:56:08.60 the children of Israel came close. 00:56:08.63\00:56:11.23 I mean, they came right up to the Promised Land, 00:56:11.27\00:56:13.94 but they didn't enter, 00:56:13.97\00:56:15.47 you know, I don't want that to be the reality in my life. 00:56:15.50\00:56:18.27 I don't want to get close and miss it. 00:56:18.31\00:56:20.01 I want to go into the Promised Land. 00:56:20.04\00:56:21.38 So my prayer is that we all surrender to Jesus now 00:56:21.41\00:56:24.51 that we can go over into the Promised Land. 00:56:24.55\00:56:26.51 That's right. 00:56:26.55\00:56:27.88 And talking about all the little horns 00:56:27.92\00:56:29.25 and the big horns and the kingdoms. 00:56:29.28\00:56:31.65 The beautiful message about the Bible 00:56:31.69\00:56:33.25 is the kingdoms of this world 00:56:33.29\00:56:35.56 will become the kingdom of our Lord and of our Christ, 00:56:35.59\00:56:38.89 and only He shall reign forever and ever. 00:56:38.93\00:56:42.60 Amen. Amen. 00:56:42.63\00:56:44.53 Well, it is through the blood of Jesus Christ 00:56:44.57\00:56:46.80 that any one of us can be saved right now. 00:56:46.84\00:56:49.90 Since 1844, 00:56:49.94\00:56:51.31 there is a judgment taking place. 00:56:51.34\00:56:53.07 Jesus is in the Most Holy Place interceding for us, 00:56:53.11\00:56:56.48 and we should be living according to that knowledge. 00:56:56.51\00:56:59.18 Amen. 00:56:59.21\00:57:00.55 You know, we're living in the time that time's events, 00:57:00.58\00:57:02.92 there's good, there's bad, 00:57:02.95\00:57:04.29 there's victories, there's defeat. 00:57:04.32\00:57:06.45 There's a way to gain heaven, there's a way to lose heaven. 00:57:06.49\00:57:09.36 Remember, God had them inspired 00:57:09.39\00:57:10.79 written in the Word 00:57:10.83\00:57:12.16 so that we might read them 00:57:12.19\00:57:13.53 and they might be an example for us 00:57:13.56\00:57:15.23 who are living in these very last hours 00:57:15.26\00:57:18.10 if I might say of earth's history. 00:57:18.13\00:57:19.83 Just be ready, Jesus is coming. 00:57:19.87\00:57:21.60 Amen. 00:57:21.64\00:57:22.97 Thank you so much, Pastor Kenny, Pastor Johnny, 00:57:23.00\00:57:25.64 Pastor John, and Pastor Ryan, 00:57:25.67\00:57:27.78 what an incredible blessing 00:57:27.81\00:57:29.64 to open up God's Word and study. 00:57:29.68\00:57:32.01 And there's a blessing promised on you 00:57:32.05\00:57:33.92 as you open up God's Word and study. 00:57:33.95\00:57:35.95 I think of Revelation 1:3, 00:57:35.98\00:57:37.92 I want to leave you with this scripture. 00:57:37.95\00:57:39.45 "Blessed is he who reads 00:57:39.49\00:57:42.42 and those who hear the words of this prophecy, 00:57:42.46\00:57:45.89 and keep those things which are written in it, 00:57:45.93\00:57:49.33 for the time is near." 00:57:49.36\00:57:51.17 We believe we are living 00:57:51.20\00:57:53.10 in the investigative judgment hour, 00:57:53.13\00:57:55.64 that Jesus is soon to come 00:57:55.67\00:57:57.64 and now is the day of salvation. 00:57:57.67\00:58:00.71 If you hear God's speaking to your heart, 00:58:00.74\00:58:03.45 do not harden your heart, but open it up and say yes, 00:58:03.48\00:58:06.41 come in, change me, 00:58:06.45\00:58:08.18 and I want to learn the prophecies in Your Word. 00:58:08.22\00:58:10.95 Join us next week for our lesson 12 00:58:10.99\00:58:13.72 dealing with difficult passages. 00:58:13.76\00:58:15.89
