Okay. 00:02:09.82\00:02:11.16 Good to have you. Good to be here, Pastor John. 00:02:11.19\00:02:12.53 And, Pastor Ryan, always good to have you here. 00:02:12.56\00:02:14.06 The historian of the group. 00:02:14.10\00:02:15.43 Oh, no, I don't know about that, 00:02:15.46\00:02:16.80 but we are gonna be talking about faith in history. 00:02:16.83\00:02:18.17 So it seems good. Okay. 00:02:18.20\00:02:19.70 Well, thank you. Thank you. 00:02:19.73\00:02:21.07 Well, Danny, since you're rare on our set, 00:02:21.10\00:02:23.24 why don't you have prayer for us? 00:02:23.27\00:02:24.61 I will. 00:02:24.64\00:02:25.97 Lord, we thank You again for Your blessings. 00:02:26.01\00:02:27.54 We thank You for life, for health, for strength, 00:02:27.58\00:02:29.88 and we thank You for the opportunity 00:02:29.91\00:02:32.25 of being Christians 00:02:32.28\00:02:33.62 and particular here 00:02:33.65\00:02:34.98 as Seventh-day Adventist Christians 00:02:35.02\00:02:36.35 in closing moments of earth's history. 00:02:36.38\00:02:38.49 We thank You that You've given us Your Word, 00:02:38.52\00:02:40.79 as a light and a guide and a path to follow You 00:02:40.82\00:02:44.33 all the way to eternity. 00:02:44.36\00:02:45.69 So today, I pray for each person 00:02:45.73\00:02:47.96 in front of the cameras, those behind the cameras, 00:02:48.00\00:02:50.93 and those and the viewing audiences 00:02:50.97\00:02:52.97 that each of us our minds will be opened, 00:02:53.00\00:02:55.40 be illuminated by the power and anointing 00:02:55.44\00:02:57.77 of the Holy Spirit today, 00:02:57.81\00:02:59.14 in Jesus' name we pray. 00:02:59.17\00:03:00.58 Amen. Amen. 00:03:00.61\00:03:01.94 Amen. 00:03:01.98\00:03:03.31 The Bible in History, 00:03:03.35\00:03:04.68 you know, when we think about the Bible, 00:03:04.71\00:03:06.05 I like to begin with the text in Acts, 00:03:06.08\00:03:07.78 Acts 17:26, 00:03:07.82\00:03:11.05 and then we're gonna go to memory text 00:03:11.09\00:03:12.42 in just a moment, 00:03:12.45\00:03:13.79 but I wanna just kind of lay the foundation 00:03:13.82\00:03:15.59 for the Bible and History 00:03:15.62\00:03:18.03 with a verse in the Book of Acts Chapter 17. 00:03:18.06\00:03:20.90 And we're going to look together at verse 26. 00:03:20.93\00:03:24.37 When you think about this whole genealogy 00:03:24.40\00:03:27.07 of the various nations, 00:03:27.10\00:03:28.90 various languages, people groups, 00:03:28.94\00:03:30.91 and the entire globe of humanity, 00:03:30.94\00:03:34.44 where we've all come from, 00:03:34.48\00:03:35.81 and I think in one of our last lessons 00:03:35.84\00:03:37.48 the many, many, many languages that exist on our planet, 00:03:37.51\00:03:41.58 some of them still don't have a Bible 00:03:41.62\00:03:43.45 in their own tongue, 00:03:43.49\00:03:44.85 this passage kind of centralizes 00:03:44.89\00:03:48.12 where we all came from. 00:03:48.16\00:03:49.79 Acts 17:26 and the Bible says, 00:03:49.82\00:03:54.40 "And He has made from, " how many bloods? 00:03:54.43\00:03:56.77 One blood. 00:03:56.80\00:03:58.13 "One blood every nation of men 00:03:58.17\00:04:01.40 to dwell on all the face of the earth, 00:04:01.44\00:04:04.41 and has determined their preappointed times 00:04:04.44\00:04:08.08 and the boundaries of their habitations." 00:04:08.11\00:04:10.25 You know what that says? 00:04:10.28\00:04:11.65 That means we all have the same father. 00:04:11.68\00:04:14.25 You know, whether you believe it or not, 00:04:14.28\00:04:15.62 we all have the same father. 00:04:15.65\00:04:16.99 That's why, if you think about it, 00:04:17.02\00:04:19.25 when the time comes for a blood transfusion, 00:04:19.29\00:04:22.79 you know, they don't take nationality 00:04:22.82\00:04:24.29 into consideration, 00:04:24.33\00:04:25.66 they go by blood types and antigens. 00:04:25.69\00:04:28.70 So in the dark, 00:04:28.73\00:04:30.87 you cannot tell A, A-positive, B, B-positive, O, 00:04:30.90\00:04:34.57 O-negative whatever the case may be. 00:04:34.60\00:04:36.37 Why is that? 00:04:36.40\00:04:37.74 Because we all come from one blood 00:04:37.77\00:04:40.28 and that is the blood of the Lamb. 00:04:40.31\00:04:42.01 Not only that, the Bible says, 00:04:42.04\00:04:43.65 "Every nation to dwell on the face of all the earth." 00:04:43.68\00:04:47.38 And this next part is significant. 00:04:47.42\00:04:49.35 "And he has determined their preappointed times," 00:04:49.38\00:04:52.15 meaning, you'll notice throughout history, 00:04:52.19\00:04:55.32 civilizations that did not once exist, 00:04:55.36\00:04:58.93 came into being. 00:04:58.96\00:05:00.53 And they began to inhabit certain parts of the globe 00:05:00.56\00:05:03.33 and the Bible says, 00:05:03.37\00:05:04.70 "And also the boundaries of their habitations." 00:05:04.73\00:05:08.34 Why are the Jews where they are? 00:05:08.37\00:05:10.41 And the Caribbean people where they are? 00:05:10.44\00:05:12.51 Why the Asians where they are there? 00:05:12.54\00:05:14.44 There, the boundaries of their habitation. 00:05:14.48\00:05:17.38 But now America is a multi-ethnic country. 00:05:17.41\00:05:22.02 And I think we can say that about most of the world. 00:05:22.05\00:05:25.25 You know, recently a few years ago, 00:05:25.29\00:05:26.62 we were in Jordan. 00:05:26.65\00:05:27.99 And I was amazed to see 00:05:28.02\00:05:29.39 that it's even though it's so close to Israel, 00:05:29.42\00:05:33.40 it's quite segregated by the number of nationalities. 00:05:33.43\00:05:37.60 It's hard to find 00:05:37.63\00:05:38.97 a Jewish establishment in Jordan, 00:05:39.00\00:05:40.97 and vice versa, but in Jerusalem, 00:05:41.00\00:05:43.07 you have a Jewish side of Jerusalem, 00:05:43.10\00:05:45.64 you have a Muslim side of Jerusalem, 00:05:45.67\00:05:48.21 and they're all inhabiting that that city together. 00:05:48.24\00:05:51.25 It's amazing. 00:05:51.28\00:05:52.61 But we begin today by looking at the preappointed times. 00:05:52.65\00:05:56.69 The point of the matter is in the beginning 00:05:56.72\00:05:58.99 when God spoke, life on earth was created. 00:05:59.02\00:06:03.53 Then you find as you look 00:06:03.56\00:06:04.89 at the trek of the Book of Genesis, 00:06:04.93\00:06:06.70 the Lord called Abram, out of the Chaldeans. 00:06:06.73\00:06:10.30 And that was a nation 00:06:10.33\00:06:11.67 that was not of Jewish origin at all, 00:06:11.70\00:06:14.67 but had 00:06:14.70\00:06:16.04 a Babylonian connotation connected to it. 00:06:16.07\00:06:20.71 The Bible says in Genesis 26:5, 00:06:20.74\00:06:24.08 that Abraham kept God's commandments, 00:06:24.11\00:06:27.45 God's statutes, and also God's laws. 00:06:27.48\00:06:32.15 You also find that in the course of time, 00:06:32.19\00:06:35.86 the Lord established the nation of Israel, 00:06:35.89\00:06:39.79 first through the sons of Jacob, 00:06:39.83\00:06:43.03 and then after the famine, 00:06:43.06\00:06:44.97 they began their sojourn in the land of Egypt, 00:06:45.00\00:06:48.00 but you'll find that the Lord had determined 00:06:48.04\00:06:50.14 before they went into Egypt, 00:06:50.17\00:06:51.57 how long they would be there and the Bible says, 00:06:51.61\00:06:53.48 I think in Exodus 12 on the very self-same day, 00:06:53.51\00:06:57.55 the Lord deliver them from the land of Egypt. 00:06:57.58\00:06:59.88 You find the Lord gave them the Ten Commandments, 00:06:59.91\00:07:02.08 and to Israel He sent prophets. 00:07:02.12\00:07:04.29 He also sent judgments to correct them and guide them. 00:07:04.32\00:07:08.12 He called His people to live in to share in His divine law, 00:07:08.16\00:07:11.63 and also to share with the entire world 00:07:11.66\00:07:13.60 the plan of salvation, but they chose not to. 00:07:13.63\00:07:16.97 Ultimately, God sent His Son Jesus 00:07:17.00\00:07:19.87 into the world, 00:07:19.90\00:07:21.24 thus dividing all of human history 00:07:21.27\00:07:23.67 from BC to what? 00:07:23.71\00:07:27.04 AD. 00:07:27.08\00:07:28.41 And so today, though, 00:07:28.44\00:07:29.78 the question is on Sunday's lesson, 00:07:29.81\00:07:31.41 let's peek at that very quickly. 00:07:31.45\00:07:33.35 Sunday's lesson is David, Solomon, and the Monarchy. 00:07:33.38\00:07:38.35 Or however you might say that monarchy or monarchy, 00:07:38.39\00:07:41.26 however you say that? 00:07:41.29\00:07:43.22 We're gonna look at some very significant things 00:07:43.26\00:07:44.79 about this lesson. 00:07:44.83\00:07:46.16 There are three questions that are asked. 00:07:46.19\00:07:47.76 Let's go to the Book of 1 Samuel Chapter 17. 00:07:47.80\00:07:50.73 And the monarchy, 00:07:50.77\00:07:53.03 the writer brought out some very significant points, 00:07:53.07\00:07:56.20 and those were 00:07:56.24\00:07:58.31 what would happen if David and Solomon never existed? 00:07:58.34\00:08:04.58 What would happen? 00:08:04.61\00:08:05.95 What would happen in our world? 00:08:05.98\00:08:07.32 Well, we know just in a summary point, 00:08:07.35\00:08:09.85 that if there was no David, wow, 00:08:09.88\00:08:13.56 there would be no Jesus 00:08:13.59\00:08:15.92 because He came through the lineage of David. 00:08:15.96\00:08:19.49 Now you can see why, in the weaknesses of David, 00:08:19.53\00:08:24.03 Satan sought to thwart the plan of salvation, 00:08:24.07\00:08:27.54 understanding in some degree, 00:08:27.57\00:08:30.11 if I could get David to be a disqualified servant, 00:08:30.14\00:08:33.88 then the Messiah could not come through a disqualified servant, 00:08:33.91\00:08:37.58 but I wanna say something here that encourages me. 00:08:37.61\00:08:40.28 In spite of the lineage of humanity, 00:08:40.32\00:08:43.05 God brought forth His Son into the human race. 00:08:43.08\00:08:47.16 So let's look at 1 Samuel Chapter 17, 00:08:47.19\00:08:50.19 which brings out some of the questions 00:08:50.23\00:08:52.36 and one of those was, 00:08:52.39\00:08:54.56 how does God provide a decisive victory over Israel? 00:08:54.60\00:09:00.24 Without David there would be no Jerusalem. 00:09:00.27\00:09:02.24 I said 1 Samuel? 00:09:02.27\00:09:03.74 Let's go to 2 Samuel. 00:09:03.77\00:09:05.11 So let's go to 2 Samuel 5 00:09:05.14\00:09:07.41 and we're gonna look together at verses 6 to 10. 00:09:07.44\00:09:11.35 Okay, without David there would be no Jerusalem, 00:09:11.38\00:09:14.85 the capital of the nation. 00:09:14.88\00:09:16.22 You'll find also in human history, 00:09:16.25\00:09:17.89 Jerusalem had various names. 00:09:17.92\00:09:21.16 It had various names 00:09:21.19\00:09:22.52 based on the conquest of those who had captured it, 00:09:22.56\00:09:26.63 but the endearing name that was given was Jerusalem, 00:09:26.66\00:09:30.23 which means the city of peace, Shalem defined clearly. 00:09:30.27\00:09:35.34 2 Samuel 5:6-10. 00:09:35.37\00:09:38.14 The Bible says, "And the king of his men went to Jerusalem 00:09:38.17\00:09:42.08 against the Jebusites, 00:09:42.11\00:09:44.31 the inhabitants of the land, 00:09:44.35\00:09:46.15 who spoke to David saying, 00:09:46.18\00:09:48.32 'You shall not come in here, 00:09:48.35\00:09:51.42 but the blind and the lame will repel you,' 00:09:51.45\00:09:53.99 thinking, 'David cannot come in here.' 00:09:54.02\00:09:57.63 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion, 00:09:57.66\00:10:01.03 that is the city of David. 00:10:01.06\00:10:03.30 Now David said on that day, 00:10:03.33\00:10:05.43 'Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft 00:10:05.47\00:10:09.70 and defeats the Jebusites, 00:10:09.74\00:10:11.57 the lame and the blind, who are hated by David's soul, 00:10:11.61\00:10:15.18 he shall be chief and captain.' 00:10:15.21\00:10:17.15 Therefore they say, 00:10:17.18\00:10:18.51 'The blind and the lame shall come not into the house.' 00:10:18.55\00:10:22.12 Then David dwelt in the stronghold, 00:10:22.15\00:10:24.45 and called it, " what did he called it? 00:10:24.49\00:10:26.19 City of David. "The City of David. 00:10:26.22\00:10:27.96 And David built all around from the Milo and inward. 00:10:27.99\00:10:33.09 So David went on and became great, 00:10:33.13\00:10:35.26 and the Lord God of hosts was with him." 00:10:35.30\00:10:38.03 So David had to first capture the city 00:10:38.07\00:10:40.44 for it to become the city of David. 00:10:40.47\00:10:43.04 Not only that, 00:10:43.07\00:10:44.41 without David there would be no temple built 00:10:44.44\00:10:46.01 by his son Solomon. 00:10:46.04\00:10:47.38 Let's go to 1 Kings 8:17-20. 00:10:47.41\00:10:51.31 I'm thwarted by the reality 00:10:51.35\00:10:52.68 that the clock is just racing from me. 00:10:52.71\00:10:55.48 Wow. 00:10:55.52\00:10:56.95 1 Kings 8:17-20. 00:10:56.99\00:10:59.29 Jill, do you have that. Okay. 00:10:59.32\00:11:01.06 "Now it was in the heart of my father David 00:11:01.09\00:11:02.82 to build a temple 00:11:02.86\00:11:04.19 for the name of the Lord God of Israel. 00:11:04.23\00:11:06.03 But the Lord said to my father David, 00:11:06.06\00:11:07.70 'Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My name, 00:11:07.73\00:11:10.63 you did well that it was in your heart. 00:11:10.67\00:11:12.83 Nevertheless you shall not build the temple, 00:11:12.87\00:11:15.50 but your son who will come from your body, 00:11:15.54\00:11:17.37 he shall build the temple for my name.'" 00:11:17.41\00:11:19.47 Verse 20? 00:11:19.51\00:11:20.88 "So the Lord has fulfilled His word 00:11:20.91\00:11:22.58 which He spoke, 00:11:22.61\00:11:23.95 and I have filled the position of my father David, 00:11:23.98\00:11:25.78 and sit on the throne of Israel, 00:11:25.81\00:11:27.68 as the Lord promised, 00:11:27.72\00:11:29.05 and I have built a temple 00:11:29.08\00:11:30.42 for the name of the Lord God of Israel." 00:11:30.45\00:11:32.09 So without David, 00:11:32.12\00:11:33.46 there will be no temple built by his son, Solomon. 00:11:33.49\00:11:37.36 Now what's being shown by the writer of the lesson is, 00:11:37.39\00:11:40.26 it's showing how David and Solomon 00:11:40.30\00:11:43.06 played a significant role not only in the monarchy, 00:11:43.10\00:11:46.60 but also in the deliverance of the Messiah. 00:11:46.63\00:11:50.51 That's the cadence that the Bible, 00:11:50.54\00:11:52.37 that's the cadence 00:11:52.41\00:11:53.74 that the lesson writers want to point out. 00:11:53.78\00:11:55.41 No David, no Solomon. No Solomon, no temple. 00:11:55.44\00:11:58.95 And you find clearly the temple, 00:11:58.98\00:12:00.68 Jesus made reference to that temple in His day, 00:12:00.72\00:12:03.69 when He was nearing His crucifixion He said, 00:12:03.72\00:12:06.25 "Destroy this temple 00:12:06.29\00:12:07.62 and in three days I will raise it up." 00:12:07.66\00:12:08.99 And they said, it took 40 years to build this temple, 00:12:09.02\00:12:11.16 but they did not know 00:12:11.19\00:12:12.53 He was talking about His body temple. 00:12:12.56\00:12:14.20 The last point brought out 00:12:14.23\00:12:15.60 without David there would be no future Messiah. 00:12:15.63\00:12:18.03 Let's go to Jeremiah 23:5. 00:12:18.07\00:12:20.70 Without David there would be no future Messiah, 00:12:20.74\00:12:23.34 for it is through the line of David 00:12:23.37\00:12:25.81 that the Messiah is promised. 00:12:25.84\00:12:28.58 Jeremiah 23:5, let's look at that together. 00:12:28.61\00:12:31.81 It says, "'Behold, the days are coming,' 00:12:31.85\00:12:33.85 says the Lord, 00:12:33.88\00:12:36.18 'That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness, 00:12:36.22\00:12:42.12 a king shall reign and prosper, 00:12:42.16\00:12:44.89 and execute judgment and righteousness 00:12:44.93\00:12:47.60 in the earth." 00:12:47.63\00:12:48.96 And finally, Revelation 22:16, look at this. 00:12:49.00\00:12:52.37 Revelation 22:16. 00:12:52.40\00:12:54.80 It says, "I, Jesus have sent My angel 00:12:54.84\00:12:57.67 to testify to you these things in the churches." 00:12:57.71\00:13:00.91 And now he's speaking of himself. 00:13:00.94\00:13:02.28 "I am the Root and the Offspring of David, 00:13:02.31\00:13:06.05 the Bright and the Morning Star.'" 00:13:06.08\00:13:08.98 And so you find 00:13:09.02\00:13:10.35 it was necessary God had to raise up David. 00:13:10.39\00:13:13.29 David had to have Solomon. 00:13:13.32\00:13:16.09 And although Solomon tried his best 00:13:16.12\00:13:18.73 to destroy himself with the 1,000 women, 00:13:18.76\00:13:21.66 the Lord still saw fit to be the seed 00:13:21.70\00:13:24.67 that came through that line from Adam to Jesus 00:13:24.70\00:13:29.24 for 42 generations 00:13:29.27\00:13:31.01 and David and Solomon were in that lineage. 00:13:31.04\00:13:34.64 God provided victory through David as a young man. 00:13:34.68\00:13:38.68 God used David to propel Israel to the victory against Goliath. 00:13:38.71\00:13:45.12 And the question lastly, 00:13:45.15\00:13:47.29 where does the victory come from? 00:13:47.32\00:13:49.66 It was said clearly, the battle belongs to the Lord. 00:13:49.69\00:13:54.03 However, in the battle for our souls, 00:13:54.06\00:13:57.00 in the battle for supremacy over humanity. 00:13:57.03\00:13:59.97 Even though the battle 00:14:00.00\00:14:01.34 and the victory belongs to the Lord, 00:14:01.37\00:14:03.37 God uses frail men like David and Solomon 00:14:03.41\00:14:06.71 to show that He is interested in working through humanity. 00:14:06.74\00:14:10.65 Amen. Praise Lord. Thank you. 00:14:10.68\00:14:13.42 Pastor Kenny. 00:14:13.45\00:14:15.68 Awesome. 00:14:15.72\00:14:17.05 Yeah, praise the Lord for a good foundation on that 00:14:17.09\00:14:18.85 and as we're looking at The Bible as History. 00:14:18.89\00:14:20.79 That's right. 00:14:20.82\00:14:22.16 And I got a couple of quotes here. 00:14:22.19\00:14:23.53 I want to just read 00:14:23.56\00:14:24.89 because I find that they attach well to 00:14:24.93\00:14:27.50 what we're studying here because we're talking about, 00:14:27.53\00:14:30.13 again, The Bible as History. 00:14:30.17\00:14:31.60 I found this in 5 Testimonies, 25. 00:14:31.63\00:14:33.54 It simply says, "The Bible is the most comprehensive, " 00:14:33.57\00:14:36.60 I like that, 00:14:36.64\00:14:37.97 "and the most instructive history which men possess. 00:14:38.01\00:14:41.71 It came forth fresh 00:14:41.74\00:14:43.31 from the fountain of eternal truth, 00:14:43.35\00:14:45.75 and a divine hand has," 00:14:45.78\00:14:47.12 notice this, 00:14:47.15\00:14:48.48 "preserved its purity through all the ages." 00:14:48.52\00:14:50.85 We've had that question a few times and people say, 00:14:50.89\00:14:52.99 "Well, how could it be preserved?" 00:14:53.02\00:14:54.46 Praise God and divine hand, 00:14:54.49\00:14:56.56 but seen it through God has preserved His Word 00:14:56.59\00:14:58.69 for His people. 00:14:58.73\00:15:00.06 That's right. 00:15:00.10\00:15:01.43 2 Timothy 3:17 says, 00:15:01.46\00:15:02.80 "That the man of God, " why did God preserve it? 00:15:02.83\00:15:04.97 Why did God preserve it? Why is it coming fresh? 00:15:05.00\00:15:06.87 Why is it that we need it? 00:15:06.90\00:15:08.24 "That the man of God may be perfect, 00:15:08.27\00:15:10.44 thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 00:15:10.47\00:15:14.54 Another quote I want to 00:15:14.58\00:15:15.91 and hopefully it'll fit right in is 4 Testimonies, 00:15:15.94\00:15:18.75 page 9. 00:15:18.78\00:15:20.12 It says, "The lives recorded in the Bible 00:15:20.15\00:15:22.42 are authentic histories of actual individuals." 00:15:22.45\00:15:25.52 Have you ever wondered 00:15:25.55\00:15:26.89 why sometimes I've had people ask is, 00:15:26.92\00:15:29.16 why did they record everything? It seems. 00:15:29.19\00:15:33.09 You know, the good things and all the bad things, 00:15:33.13\00:15:35.56 all the shortcomings and all the mistakes 00:15:35.60\00:15:37.60 and everything that they made in the choices. 00:15:37.63\00:15:39.27 There's a reason for that. Absolutely. 00:15:39.30\00:15:40.84 And God knew these reasons. 00:15:40.87\00:15:42.20 And certainly these things are for us today. 00:15:42.24\00:15:44.31 "But the lives recorded in the Bible 00:15:44.34\00:15:45.67 are authentic histories of actual individuals. 00:15:45.71\00:15:47.91 From Adam down 00:15:47.94\00:15:49.28 through the successive generations, " 00:15:49.31\00:15:51.15 notice, "to the times of the apostles have a plain, 00:15:51.18\00:15:54.55 unvarnished account," 00:15:54.58\00:15:55.92 notice this, 00:15:55.95\00:15:57.29 "of their actual occurring 00:15:57.32\00:15:59.02 and the genuine experience of real character." 00:15:59.05\00:16:02.29 It is one of the best evidences 00:16:02.32\00:16:04.56 of the authenticity of Scripture 00:16:04.59\00:16:06.90 that truth is not lost over 00:16:06.93\00:16:09.23 nor sins of its chief characters 00:16:09.26\00:16:12.00 suppressed. 00:16:12.03\00:16:13.37 That's pretty clear, isn't it? 00:16:13.40\00:16:14.74 And you find when you read this, 00:16:14.77\00:16:16.10 they're not suppressed 00:16:16.14\00:16:17.47 and they're right out there for us to look at. 00:16:17.51\00:16:18.97 Luke 11:28 says, 00:16:19.01\00:16:21.31 "Blessed are they that hear the word of God, 00:16:21.34\00:16:23.71 and," do what? 00:16:23.75\00:16:25.28 "They hear the word of God, and they keep it." 00:16:25.31\00:16:27.15 We're looking here at Monday's lesson in Isaiah, 00:16:27.18\00:16:30.05 Hezekiah, and Sennacherib. 00:16:30.09\00:16:32.25 Now that's a name here, 00:16:32.29\00:16:33.62 but we realize he's the Syrian King, 00:16:33.66\00:16:35.69 is that right? 00:16:35.72\00:16:37.06 And there was a battle that was going on. 00:16:37.09\00:16:38.49 And history is going to the Bible 00:16:38.53\00:16:40.20 as history records this battle. 00:16:40.23\00:16:42.40 And if you haven't read it in a while, 00:16:42.43\00:16:43.77 it's an awesome thing to see 00:16:43.80\00:16:45.73 how God has written down in this word, 00:16:45.77\00:16:50.27 and it comes to pass 00:16:50.31\00:16:51.64 exactly the way God said that it would 00:16:51.67\00:16:54.08 because the king of Syria 00:16:54.11\00:16:55.44 had a different thought in mind. 00:16:55.48\00:16:56.95 There was no doubt about it. 00:16:56.98\00:16:58.31 He had plans of things that he was going to do. 00:16:58.35\00:17:00.08 We'll go over that here in just a little bit. 00:17:00.12\00:17:01.85 So Monday's lesson deals with how, I like this, 00:17:01.88\00:17:03.82 how God continues to deliver His people? 00:17:03.85\00:17:07.19 I like that, you know, in answer to Hezekiah's prayer. 00:17:07.22\00:17:09.89 So we had Hezekiah, he had a sickness, didn't he? 00:17:09.92\00:17:12.69 He was gonna die. 00:17:12.73\00:17:14.06 And this was Hezekiah who was not only praying 00:17:14.10\00:17:15.43 about sickness, 00:17:15.46\00:17:16.80 but he was also praying about, 00:17:16.83\00:17:18.27 you know, he knew 00:17:18.30\00:17:19.63 that some bad things were going to happen. 00:17:19.67\00:17:21.07 So he's praying for his people. 00:17:21.10\00:17:22.87 And so, and God was hearing his prayer. 00:17:22.90\00:17:25.04 Notice, when we pray in faith believing, 00:17:25.07\00:17:27.41 I like this part is God goes into action. 00:17:27.44\00:17:30.78 You know, prayer does what? 00:17:30.81\00:17:32.15 It moves the arm of God, doesn't it? 00:17:32.18\00:17:34.18 Prayer faith moves the arm of God into action. 00:17:34.22\00:17:36.12 So God just not sitting there idle 00:17:36.15\00:17:37.52 by listen to his prayer 00:17:37.55\00:17:38.89 and pray and do nothing about it. 00:17:38.92\00:17:40.46 It moves God into action. 00:17:40.49\00:17:41.82 So if you want things happening in your life, 00:17:41.86\00:17:44.16 be praying, God's gonna hear 00:17:44.19\00:17:45.53 and gonna answer those prayers. 00:17:45.56\00:17:48.16 And again, this year, 00:17:48.20\00:17:49.53 we're talking about The Bible as History, 00:17:49.56\00:17:51.07 it records the, this battle here, 00:17:51.10\00:17:53.57 and what went on, 00:17:53.60\00:17:54.94 what man said was going to happen 00:17:54.97\00:17:56.67 and what God said was going to happen. 00:17:56.71\00:17:58.94 So we like that. 00:17:58.97\00:18:00.31 So hopefully in this lesson that we're looking at here 00:18:00.34\00:18:02.64 through the whole things, we go down the list, 00:18:02.68\00:18:04.65 we can see the same God whom we pray to, 00:18:04.68\00:18:07.92 the same God whom we believe in, 00:18:07.95\00:18:10.22 the same God that we read in Scripture, 00:18:10.25\00:18:12.62 the same God that we rely on, 00:18:12.65\00:18:14.22 the same God that we trust 00:18:14.26\00:18:16.06 is the same God that's dealing right here. 00:18:16.09\00:18:18.33 And He'll do the very same for us. 00:18:18.36\00:18:20.80 He'll work miracles in our life. 00:18:20.83\00:18:22.33 Isaiah Chapter 36. 00:18:22.36\00:18:25.47 Isaiah Chapter 36. 00:18:25.50\00:18:26.84 Just gonna read one verse here 00:18:26.87\00:18:28.20 'cause times really kicking down, 00:18:28.24\00:18:29.57 but I think you'll get it here as what's going on. 00:18:29.60\00:18:32.11 It said, "Now it came to pass," 00:18:32.14\00:18:33.48 in Isaiah 36:1, 00:18:33.51\00:18:35.68 "in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, " 00:18:35.71\00:18:38.28 notice what happened, 00:18:38.31\00:18:39.65 "that Sennacherib, 00:18:39.68\00:18:41.02 the king of Assyria came up against 00:18:41.05\00:18:42.52 all of the defensed cities of Judah," 00:18:42.55\00:18:45.09 and the last part is kind of sad. 00:18:45.12\00:18:46.55 What does it say? "He said he took them." 00:18:46.59\00:18:48.99 Okay. Yeah. 00:18:49.02\00:18:50.36 So in the fourteenth year here, 00:18:50.39\00:18:51.73 there was a battle that was going on, 00:18:51.76\00:18:53.60 and God was gonna get involved with it. 00:18:53.63\00:18:55.80 So we see this. It's a massive battle plan. 00:18:55.83\00:18:58.70 The Assyrians had a campaign against Judah. 00:18:58.73\00:19:02.00 And there's gonna take, this is like, 00:19:02.04\00:19:03.37 almost 700 years right before Christ. 00:19:03.41\00:19:06.54 I call it a battle royale. 00:19:06.57\00:19:08.24 It was planned. 00:19:08.28\00:19:09.61 It's what the devil has always planned to do 00:19:09.64\00:19:11.75 is to get rid of what? 00:19:11.78\00:19:13.11 If God's people. 00:19:13.15\00:19:14.48 And he's still the same plan today 00:19:14.52\00:19:15.95 is to get rid of you, get rid of me, 00:19:15.98\00:19:17.42 anybody that loves Jesus and wants to follow Jesus, 00:19:17.45\00:19:19.65 that's his plan. 00:19:19.69\00:19:21.02 Remember, we serve one greater. Don't worry about that. 00:19:21.06\00:19:22.86 So here's what we know for sure. 00:19:22.89\00:19:24.39 God said in His Word 00:19:24.43\00:19:26.03 and encouraged him through Hezekiah, 00:19:26.06\00:19:27.70 this is not going to happen. 00:19:27.73\00:19:29.30 It's not going to happen, is it? 00:19:29.33\00:19:30.73 But it's interesting. 00:19:30.77\00:19:32.10 There was an attack on Jerusalem. 00:19:32.13\00:19:34.67 There was an attack, 00:19:34.70\00:19:36.04 but it's only for one day, you know. 00:19:36.07\00:19:38.14 Now what would you do? 00:19:38.17\00:19:39.51 What would I do if we heard right from our leader? 00:19:39.54\00:19:42.08 There was prayer that was answered and to say, 00:19:42.11\00:19:44.28 Jerusalem's going to be okay, don't worry about it, 00:19:44.31\00:19:47.35 but then here comes this big army 00:19:47.38\00:19:48.78 and there's an attack for one day. 00:19:48.82\00:19:51.12 How would our faith stand? What would we say? 00:19:51.15\00:19:53.86 That's not what we were told. That's not what we believed. 00:19:53.89\00:19:57.13 It was very interesting how God said, 00:19:57.16\00:19:58.69 I'm gonna take care of this Myself 00:19:58.73\00:20:01.16 and so He takes care of us. 00:20:01.20\00:20:02.53 So as we look at a little bit closer at it here, 00:20:02.56\00:20:04.60 before it takes place in every detail, 00:20:04.63\00:20:07.14 God knows, I like this. 00:20:07.17\00:20:08.57 The Bible said, "He knows the beginning from the end" 00:20:08.60\00:20:11.31 in Revelation 21:6. 00:20:11.34\00:20:13.38 That's always been kind of soothing to me, 00:20:13.41\00:20:14.78 at least encouraging, 00:20:14.81\00:20:16.14 God knows the beginning from the end. 00:20:16.18\00:20:17.71 Man may have another plan, 00:20:17.75\00:20:19.08 but God's plan is gonna go through. 00:20:19.11\00:20:20.58 There are no surprises to Him. 00:20:20.62\00:20:22.18 Holy Spirit impressed men to God, right? 00:20:22.22\00:20:24.92 We've been learning this in these lessons, 00:20:24.95\00:20:26.72 and then God brings them 00:20:26.76\00:20:28.09 about exactly as a way that they were penned down. 00:20:28.12\00:20:30.29 Isaiah 36:1, it said the king did what of Assyria? 00:20:30.33\00:20:32.83 He came against 00:20:32.86\00:20:34.20 all the defensed cities of Judah. 00:20:34.23\00:20:37.83 It seemed like that they were be ready for battle, right? 00:20:37.87\00:20:40.50 That fancies in, this is not going to happen, 00:20:40.54\00:20:43.44 but notice this, 00:20:43.47\00:20:44.81 this is a historical rather than a prophetic, 00:20:44.84\00:20:48.04 you know, this prophecy here? 00:20:48.08\00:20:49.54 The king, actually the king himself, 00:20:49.58\00:20:52.01 gave an account of this battle, 00:20:52.05\00:20:54.42 but he didn't really give a fair account 00:20:54.45\00:20:56.28 'cause he went back to Nineveh after all. 00:20:56.32\00:20:57.65 In fact he, 00:20:57.69\00:20:59.02 that probably we won't have time to go 00:20:59.05\00:21:00.39 all into right here, 00:21:00.42\00:21:01.76 but he was killed by his own sons, his own sons. 00:21:01.79\00:21:04.13 And God said that, he said it back, 00:21:04.16\00:21:05.49 what you're gonna do, 00:21:05.53\00:21:06.86 you're gonna go back the way that you came, 00:21:06.90\00:21:09.60 you know, as you gonna march in, 00:21:09.63\00:21:10.97 you're gonna go back the way you came 00:21:11.00\00:21:12.37 when it come to Jerusalem, it's not going to happen. 00:21:12.40\00:21:14.87 And then, of course, 00:21:14.90\00:21:16.24 the king gave three reasons why? 00:21:16.27\00:21:17.61 Hezekiah, he said, 00:21:17.64\00:21:18.97 "Hezekiah, you refuse to submit to me." 00:21:19.01\00:21:22.38 A lot of times you refuse to submit to certain people, 00:21:22.41\00:21:24.71 there's problems. 00:21:24.75\00:21:26.21 Hezekiah also called upon Egypt and Ethiopia for help. 00:21:26.25\00:21:30.45 And the king said, I don't want that either. 00:21:30.49\00:21:32.45 Number three, 00:21:32.49\00:21:34.12 he had helped others 00:21:34.16\00:21:35.49 in their battle against Assyria. 00:21:35.52\00:21:37.83 So he's already said, "You're already our enemy, 00:21:37.86\00:21:39.66 and you're going to go down with this battle." 00:21:39.69\00:21:42.03 So forty-six of Hezekiah we noticed this, 00:21:42.06\00:21:44.83 "Forty-Six of Hezekiah walled towns 00:21:44.87\00:21:47.14 and villages were conquered." 00:21:47.17\00:21:49.50 So it seemed like people will be depressed. 00:21:49.54\00:21:51.24 A lot of bad things were happening right then, 00:21:51.27\00:21:53.48 but naturally, the Bible goes on 00:21:53.51\00:21:55.18 to say by a miracle of God, 00:21:55.21\00:21:57.01 I like that, Jerusalem was spared 00:21:57.05\00:21:59.08 because God said it would be, you know. 00:21:59.11\00:22:01.25 And here's what the king 00:22:01.28\00:22:02.62 in at least in things that he left, 00:22:02.65\00:22:04.89 you know, for us to go with long historical, 00:22:04.92\00:22:07.56 we know about, he's all, 00:22:07.59\00:22:08.92 he said about he wanted to say more about it, 00:22:08.96\00:22:10.43 but he could not conquer Jerusalem. 00:22:10.46\00:22:12.89 He could not. 00:22:12.93\00:22:14.26 And he said right here, "As for Hezekiah the Judean, " 00:22:14.30\00:22:17.17 notice he said, 00:22:17.20\00:22:18.90 "I shut him up in his city like a bird in a cage." 00:22:18.93\00:22:22.17 Got to admit it, 00:22:22.20\00:22:23.54 he couldn't say I conquered him. 00:22:23.57\00:22:25.27 He just simply say what? 00:22:25.31\00:22:26.64 I said his men couldn't do anything about it 00:22:26.68\00:22:28.28 because God had what? 00:22:28.31\00:22:29.64 Had surrounded that city as the word of God 00:22:29.68\00:22:31.11 was protecting it. 00:22:31.15\00:22:32.48 Jerusalem was attack. 00:22:32.51\00:22:33.85 Remember we said for only one day. 00:22:33.88\00:22:35.65 I don't know if this, Pastor, but any of you sitting on here, 00:22:35.68\00:22:38.02 but, you know, as we look at it here, 00:22:38.05\00:22:39.62 the Bible says here 00:22:39.65\00:22:40.99 than an angel of the Lord deliver Jerusalem, 00:22:41.02\00:22:44.93 an angel of the Lord, 00:22:44.96\00:22:46.29 but what did the angel of the Lord do? 00:22:46.33\00:22:47.76 These men meet were serious in battle. 00:22:47.80\00:22:50.77 They were going to kill God's people, 00:22:50.80\00:22:52.90 but notice this angel here of the Lord. 00:22:52.93\00:22:56.10 I'm gonna say in the best way I can 00:22:56.14\00:22:58.47 killed 185,000 troops in one night. 00:22:58.51\00:23:04.78 When they got up in the morning, 00:23:04.81\00:23:06.15 there's 185,000 bodies. 00:23:06.18\00:23:09.75 It's amazing. How would you feel? 00:23:09.78\00:23:11.15 How would I feel? 00:23:11.19\00:23:12.89 God allowed that to happen that was in God's plan 00:23:12.92\00:23:15.06 because they were going to attack Jerusalem. 00:23:15.09\00:23:16.42 He said, "That's not going to happen." 00:23:16.46\00:23:18.53 "Therefore saith the Lord," 00:23:18.56\00:23:19.89 notice this, 00:23:19.93\00:23:21.26 "concerning the king of Assyria, 00:23:21.30\00:23:22.63 he shall not come into the city, 00:23:22.66\00:23:24.83 nor shoot an arrow there, 00:23:24.87\00:23:26.33 nor come before it was a shields, 00:23:26.37\00:23:28.30 nor cast a bank against it." 00:23:28.34\00:23:29.80 Verse 34, notice this, 00:23:29.84\00:23:31.71 "By the way he came, the same shall he return, 00:23:31.74\00:23:35.11 and shall not come into the city, saith God." 00:23:35.14\00:23:37.21 Verse 35, 00:23:37.25\00:23:38.58 "For I will defend the city and save it for mine sake, " 00:23:38.61\00:23:42.78 and what you were talking about, 00:23:42.82\00:23:44.15 "and for my servant, David's sake." 00:23:44.19\00:23:47.56 When God says He's going to save something, 00:23:47.59\00:23:49.22 when God said, "I'm gonna take care of it." 00:23:49.26\00:23:50.83 When God says, "I'm going to defend it." 00:23:50.86\00:23:53.06 When God says, "I'm going to fight," what? 00:23:53.09\00:23:55.30 "Your battles for you." 00:23:55.33\00:23:56.83 He means business, whatever it takes. 00:23:56.87\00:23:59.97 He knows the beginning from the end. 00:24:00.00\00:24:02.00 We can rest assured that we serve a God who cares. 00:24:02.04\00:24:05.17 When you lift up your prayer like Hezekiah. 00:24:05.21\00:24:06.78 Hey, you may be at 15 years like he was, 00:24:06.81\00:24:09.04 or your city may be saved, trust in God. 00:24:09.08\00:24:11.25 Wow. Absolutely. 00:25:17.75\00:25:19.08 The problem with this lesson, 00:25:19.11\00:25:20.58 you just can't get through it all. 00:25:20.62\00:25:22.38 So I know y'all are fighting that too. 00:25:22.42\00:25:24.82 But I'm just gonna start out 00:25:24.85\00:25:26.19 with the question that quarterly asked, 00:25:26.22\00:25:28.82 "How do the early decisions of Daniel 00:25:28.86\00:25:30.99 correspond with the acts of God 00:25:31.03\00:25:32.99 and using him as His servant and prophet 00:25:33.03\00:25:35.70 to impact millions of people throughout history?" 00:25:35.73\00:25:39.70 Well, in order to find out 00:25:39.73\00:25:41.07 we should find out what Daniel did? 00:25:41.10\00:25:42.97 All right. So let's go to Daniel 1:8. 00:25:43.00\00:25:45.14 And it says, 00:25:45.17\00:25:46.51 "But Daniel purposed in his heart." 00:25:46.54\00:25:47.88 What did he do? 00:25:47.91\00:25:49.24 "Purposed in his heart 00:25:49.28\00:25:50.61 that he would not defile himself 00:25:50.65\00:25:52.51 with the portion of the king's meat, 00:25:52.55\00:25:54.48 nor with the wine which he drank, 00:25:54.52\00:25:56.92 therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs 00:25:56.95\00:26:00.36 that he might not defile himself." 00:26:00.39\00:26:02.69 Now I'm gonna skip on up to Daniel 1:15. 00:26:02.72\00:26:05.99 "At the end of the ten days," they let him do it. 00:26:06.03\00:26:08.53 "At the end of the ten days 00:26:08.56\00:26:09.90 their countenances appeared, " what? 00:26:09.93\00:26:11.73 "Fairer and fatter in the flesh than all the children 00:26:11.77\00:26:15.34 which did eat the portion of the king's meat." 00:26:15.37\00:26:18.57 Now up to verses 19 and 20, 00:26:18.61\00:26:20.88 "And the king communed with them, 00:26:20.91\00:26:23.28 among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, 00:26:23.31\00:26:27.12 Mishael, Azariah," 00:26:27.15\00:26:28.65 who later was Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, 00:26:28.68\00:26:31.25 "therefore they stood before the king. 00:26:31.29\00:26:33.25 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, 00:26:33.29\00:26:36.42 that the king enquired of them, he found them, " 00:26:36.46\00:26:38.63 how many times? 00:26:38.66\00:26:40.00 "Ten times," isn't that amazing? 00:26:40.03\00:26:42.06 "Better than all the magicians, all the astrologers, 00:26:42.10\00:26:44.93 the wise men that were in all his realm." 00:26:44.97\00:26:48.04 Now, these good habits formed early in his experience 00:26:48.07\00:26:51.31 became the pattern 00:26:51.34\00:26:52.67 that would give him strength for his long life. 00:26:52.71\00:26:55.91 The result was clear thinking, wisdom, 00:26:55.94\00:26:58.21 and understanding 00:26:58.25\00:26:59.58 which we all need that, of course, 00:26:59.61\00:27:01.38 and it all came from God on high. 00:27:01.42\00:27:03.62 This was recognized by several kings 00:27:03.65\00:27:06.12 under Nebuchadnezzar, 00:27:06.15\00:27:07.49 Belshazzar and Darius 00:27:07.52\00:27:10.13 so that he was elevated 00:27:10.16\00:27:12.06 to the highest positions in the kingdom. 00:27:12.09\00:27:14.26 Now, this is not a guy 00:27:14.30\00:27:16.00 who was born with a spoon in his mouth, right? 00:27:16.03\00:27:17.90 Silver spoon. 00:27:17.93\00:27:19.27 He was captive 00:27:19.30\00:27:20.84 who came from a Hebrew family 00:27:20.87\00:27:23.67 that literally came was in captive to Babylon. 00:27:23.71\00:27:28.08 Now, of all the places in the world, 00:27:28.11\00:27:30.25 we know what Babylon is, 00:27:30.28\00:27:31.61 last place you wanna be involved 00:27:31.65\00:27:32.98 spiritually, maybe physically is Babylon 00:27:33.01\00:27:35.52 because it represents what? 00:27:35.55\00:27:37.22 Confusion. 00:27:37.25\00:27:38.59 So to me, this is an amazing thing 00:27:38.62\00:27:40.69 that Daniel could come as a young person, 00:27:40.72\00:27:43.56 and yet he purposed in his heart. 00:27:43.59\00:27:45.59 So the question was, what is it that Daniel did? 00:27:45.63\00:27:49.06 We need to find out what this did for Daniel? 00:27:49.10\00:27:51.77 So I've written down a few things. 00:27:51.80\00:27:54.07 I put what Daniel did? 00:27:54.10\00:27:55.44 Here's what we can learn from Daniel's commitment to God 00:27:55.47\00:27:58.47 throughout the action and of his lifestyle. 00:27:58.51\00:28:01.44 Number one, 00:28:01.48\00:28:02.81 stick to God's plan for your life. 00:28:02.84\00:28:05.51 Do not compromise biblical principles 00:28:05.55\00:28:08.02 to please others. 00:28:08.05\00:28:09.38 Daniel didn't compromise. Did he? 00:28:09.42\00:28:10.75 No. 00:28:10.79\00:28:12.12 Also Daniel was a leader, not a follower. 00:28:12.15\00:28:13.99 Had he been a follower, 00:28:14.02\00:28:15.46 he would have been out there with everybody else 00:28:15.49\00:28:17.86 in Babylon confused and lost, 00:28:17.89\00:28:20.70 but indeed he chose to put into practice 00:28:20.73\00:28:23.33 everything that he had been taught 00:28:23.37\00:28:25.10 as a young Hebrew lad. 00:28:25.13\00:28:26.97 Now, number three, 00:28:27.00\00:28:28.34 he made a commitment to serve God at all cost, 00:28:28.37\00:28:31.37 again purposed in his heart, 00:28:31.41\00:28:32.81 Daniel was a commandment keeper. 00:28:32.84\00:28:35.11 Daniel kept the law of God. 00:28:35.14\00:28:37.11 It's important 00:28:37.15\00:28:38.48 that we go beyond the point 00:28:38.51\00:28:39.85 of being a verbal commitment Christian, 00:28:39.88\00:28:41.75 right? 00:28:41.78\00:28:43.12 And to be go to a Go Ye Christian, right? 00:28:43.15\00:28:45.82 In other words, we have to have 00:28:45.85\00:28:47.49 a plan of action like he did. 00:28:47.52\00:28:49.22 Matthew 28:18-20 is a great one for us today. 00:28:49.26\00:28:52.53 Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world," 00:28:52.56\00:28:55.33 right? 00:28:55.36\00:28:56.70 Number four, Daniel did everything 00:28:56.73\00:28:58.37 to the glory of God, 00:28:58.40\00:28:59.73 including taking care of his body 00:28:59.77\00:29:02.40 by the way he ate, 00:29:02.44\00:29:03.91 the way he drank, his lifestyle. 00:29:03.94\00:29:06.34 Now, no doubt the king's meat 00:29:06.37\00:29:08.74 and the king's wine probably tasted good. 00:29:08.78\00:29:11.15 I mean, a lot of people were involved in it. 00:29:11.18\00:29:13.05 In fact, for Belshazzar, 00:29:13.08\00:29:15.08 that was his downfall, as you know, 00:29:15.12\00:29:17.25 but I'm sure it could have been tempting. 00:29:17.29\00:29:20.06 But Daniel made a what? 00:29:20.09\00:29:21.72 He purposed in his heart, he made a commitment, 00:29:21.76\00:29:24.33 he would not be a part of it. 00:29:24.36\00:29:26.29 So many Christians today accused Seventh-day Adventist 00:29:26.33\00:29:31.10 of trying to work our way into heaven 00:29:31.13\00:29:33.40 because we choose not to eat the king's meat, 00:29:33.44\00:29:36.17 choose not to drink the king's wine. 00:29:36.20\00:29:38.97 Anybody with me? 00:29:39.01\00:29:40.34 So many of us accuses us of saying, 00:29:40.38\00:29:43.08 "Well, you believe you don't salvation by works 00:29:43.11\00:29:46.72 because you keep the seventh-day Sabbath 00:29:46.75\00:29:48.68 and you don't eat this or that, and you do all these things, 00:29:48.72\00:29:52.12 but in fact, I have a friend and he said to me once, 00:29:52.15\00:29:54.59 he said, "You know, I'm not part of this. 00:29:54.62\00:29:58.26 What you guys do, I'm not into it." 00:29:58.29\00:29:59.86 He said, "You're very legalist." 00:29:59.89\00:30:02.63 He said, "I'm saved by grace." 00:30:02.66\00:30:04.57 And you all feel like you're saved by works. 00:30:04.60\00:30:06.43 And I said, "No, not really." I said, "How do you figure it?" 00:30:06.47\00:30:08.97 He said, "I'm not in bondage to the commandments of God, 00:30:09.00\00:30:12.77 including the fourth commandment, 00:30:12.81\00:30:14.68 like the Sabbath commandment." 00:30:14.71\00:30:16.04 He said, "I'm not in bondage to that." 00:30:16.08\00:30:18.48 And he said, 00:30:18.51\00:30:19.85 "I don't have to go to church every Sabbath." 00:30:19.88\00:30:21.22 And I said, "That's interesting to me, 00:30:21.25\00:30:22.65 you would say that 00:30:22.68\00:30:24.02 because I noticed that every Sunday, 00:30:24.05\00:30:26.52 you get up with your family, 00:30:26.55\00:30:27.89 and you all get ready 00:30:27.92\00:30:29.26 and you go to church every Sunday morning, 00:30:29.29\00:30:30.76 and every Sunday evening. 00:30:30.79\00:30:32.13 Are you in bondage to that? Is that legalistic? 00:30:32.16\00:30:34.90 I mean, if I'm that way, I mean, how do you do it?" 00:30:34.93\00:30:38.23 In other words, 00:30:38.27\00:30:39.60 it's interesting what people accuse you of. 00:30:39.63\00:30:41.70 Now, by the way, we are saved by grace, 00:30:41.74\00:30:45.11 but we're saved by grace 00:30:45.14\00:30:47.28 through the blood of Jesus Christ 00:30:47.31\00:30:48.74 when we come to Him, 00:30:48.78\00:30:50.11 and ask Him to be Lord and Savior of our life, 00:30:50.15\00:30:52.81 and then once we are, we're to do something, 00:30:52.85\00:30:55.62 we're to be hearers of the word, 00:30:55.65\00:30:57.42 James 1:22 says, "Be you doers of the word, 00:30:57.45\00:31:00.96 and not hearers only, deceiving your own self." 00:31:00.99\00:31:04.89 So Daniel decided and purposed in his heart as a young man. 00:31:04.93\00:31:08.43 I'm gonna be a doer. 00:31:08.46\00:31:09.80 I'm gonna do whatever God calls me to do 00:31:09.83\00:31:12.50 at whatever cost. 00:31:12.53\00:31:13.94 You see, an action, 00:31:13.97\00:31:15.97 it's the devil's greater sleeper hold. 00:31:16.00\00:31:17.84 Anybody know anything about wrestling? 00:31:17.87\00:31:19.87 There's a sleeper hold, you put people to sleep. 00:31:19.91\00:31:22.44 So in action by saying, 00:31:22.48\00:31:23.81 "Oh, well, I'm just saved by grace. 00:31:23.85\00:31:25.31 I don't have to do anything." 00:31:25.35\00:31:26.68 No, this says 00:31:26.72\00:31:28.05 be ye doers of the word and Daniel did that. 00:31:28.08\00:31:30.45 Not only hearers deceiving your own self 00:31:30.49\00:31:33.25 and action again as the devil's 00:31:33.29\00:31:35.06 I wrote down greater sleeper hold 00:31:35.09\00:31:36.96 that he puts on Christians. 00:31:36.99\00:31:38.69 So how many of us today are willing to be doers 00:31:38.73\00:31:41.93 and not just hearers only? 00:31:41.96\00:31:43.67 Daniel, number four, 00:31:43.70\00:31:45.27 God had given Daniel wisdom beyond his years, why? 00:31:45.30\00:31:48.70 Because Daniel refused to become part of Babylon. 00:31:48.74\00:31:52.24 He would not be confused. 00:31:52.27\00:31:53.61 Today, how much are we confused, 00:31:53.64\00:31:56.75 Seventh-day Adventist Christians? 00:31:56.78\00:31:59.35 I'm surprised how many people watching? 00:31:59.38\00:32:01.45 And I go to church and they say, 00:32:01.48\00:32:02.98 oh, I watch this program, that program, 00:32:03.02\00:32:05.22 have nothing to do with truth. 00:32:05.25\00:32:06.86 I mean, somebody may be a great speaker, 00:32:06.89\00:32:09.59 but that they'll say, 00:32:09.62\00:32:10.96 'Oh, I watched such and such and I won't give the name, 00:32:10.99\00:32:12.69 some televangelists has 30,000 people. 00:32:12.73\00:32:15.30 Isn't he great? 00:32:15.33\00:32:16.67 Isn't he the greatest preacher?" 00:32:16.70\00:32:18.03 I said, "No, not if he's not telling the truth." 00:32:18.07\00:32:19.70 You know, I don't care. 00:32:19.73\00:32:21.07 He may have great delivery, 00:32:21.10\00:32:22.44 but he's not a great preacher unless he's telling the truth. 00:32:22.47\00:32:25.11 Daniel knew how to come apart and be a separated person. 00:32:25.14\00:32:29.81 And he kept his eyes on the Lord 00:32:29.84\00:32:31.51 and wasn't caught up in Babylon. 00:32:31.55\00:32:33.92 Number five. 00:32:33.95\00:32:35.28 Daniel was faithful to his God, his faith was real, 00:32:35.32\00:32:38.22 even to the point of facing the lions' den. 00:32:38.25\00:32:41.89 He was willing to go to that, 00:32:41.92\00:32:43.26 he didn't go kicking and screaming. 00:32:43.29\00:32:45.39 He was willing to sacrifice so under, 00:32:45.43\00:32:47.93 Daniel under several kings, if we go to Nebuchadnezzar, 00:32:47.96\00:32:51.90 we go to Belshazzar, 00:32:51.93\00:32:53.27 we got to Darius and we look at those kings, 00:32:53.30\00:32:57.07 Daniel serve these, 00:32:57.11\00:32:58.54 but God put him 00:32:58.57\00:32:59.91 in great positions of authority. 00:32:59.94\00:33:02.74 You know, we have modern day Daniels. 00:33:02.78\00:33:04.61 Are you a modern day Daniel or modern day Joseph? 00:33:04.65\00:33:07.28 I know one name Ambassador Bien Tejano 00:33:07.32\00:33:09.65 in the Philippine. 00:33:09.68\00:33:11.02 Ambassador Tejano 00:33:11.05\00:33:12.39 has served under numerous presidents 00:33:12.42\00:33:15.16 in the country. 00:33:15.19\00:33:16.52 I remember I had the privilege of flying there to Manila. 00:33:16.56\00:33:19.29 I had no idea, 00:33:19.33\00:33:20.66 but the ambassador and number of people 00:33:20.70\00:33:22.20 got me at the airport 00:33:22.23\00:33:23.57 took me straight to the White House, 00:33:23.60\00:33:27.34 we'll call it there in the Philippines, 00:33:27.37\00:33:29.17 and they said, 00:33:29.20\00:33:30.54 "You're gonna meet the President 00:33:30.57\00:33:32.37 Gloria Macapagal Arroyo." 00:33:32.41\00:33:34.54 And I said, "Why I didn't know I was." 00:33:34.58\00:33:37.51 They said, "Oh, she wanted to meet you. 00:33:37.55\00:33:38.88 She watched this 3ABN." 00:33:38.91\00:33:40.92 And I remember sitting at breakfast with her. 00:33:40.95\00:33:43.89 And here's what I said to her. 00:33:43.92\00:33:46.39 I said, "Madam President, 00:33:46.42\00:33:48.69 may I ask you being Tejano Ambassador Tejano 00:33:48.72\00:33:52.53 he was the ambassador for the previous administration 00:33:52.56\00:33:56.87 and the previous one and the previous one 00:33:56.90\00:33:59.13 and they all are different parties. 00:33:59.17\00:34:01.50 Why did you pick Ambassador Tejano to be your ambassador? 00:34:01.54\00:34:06.11 And answer one other question first, 00:34:06.14\00:34:07.84 how many ambassadors 00:34:07.88\00:34:09.21 did you replace around the world?" 00:34:09.24\00:34:10.58 She said, "All of them." 00:34:10.61\00:34:12.08 All of them except Ambassador Tejano. 00:34:12.11\00:34:15.02 I said, "Why?" 00:34:15.05\00:34:16.38 And I'll never forget what she said, 00:34:16.42\00:34:18.09 President of the Philippines. 00:34:18.12\00:34:20.29 She said, "Because we all know that Ambassador Tejano 00:34:20.32\00:34:25.19 is true to his God. 00:34:25.23\00:34:27.36 If Ambassador Tejano is true to his God, 00:34:27.40\00:34:30.43 he'll be true to me. 00:34:30.47\00:34:32.20 He'll be true to my cause. 00:34:32.23\00:34:33.94 He disagrees with me, he'll let me know. 00:34:33.97\00:34:36.47 He won't do anything behind his back." 00:34:36.50\00:34:38.74 How many of us today can have the people around us 00:34:38.77\00:34:41.78 that we know that we work with, 00:34:41.81\00:34:43.98 our neighbors, people in the community 00:34:44.01\00:34:46.21 that we do business with Pastor John can say, 00:34:46.25\00:34:49.75 you know, I trust him 00:34:49.78\00:34:51.65 because he believes in God and serves his God. 00:34:51.69\00:34:56.29 Therefore, I know he's gonna serve me 00:34:56.32\00:34:58.76 with love and compassion. 00:34:58.79\00:35:00.30 So it's my hope and prayer today 00:35:00.33\00:35:02.30 that each of us can be Daniels, 00:35:02.33\00:35:04.33 we can be Josephs, 00:35:04.37\00:35:05.70 we can be Ambassador Tejanos 00:35:05.73\00:35:08.30 to make an imprint to the world 00:35:08.34\00:35:11.01 about Jesus Christ and His soon coming and His... 00:35:11.04\00:35:13.98 I'm so thankful 00:35:14.01\00:35:15.34 He was crucified on the cross of Calvary, 00:35:15.38\00:35:17.45 giving His life for ours. 00:35:17.48\00:35:19.28 Amen. Thank you so much, Danny. 00:35:19.31\00:35:21.55 What an incredible study of the life of Daniel. 00:35:21.58\00:35:24.72 And then we see modern day Daniels as well 00:35:24.75\00:35:27.06 who are true to God. 00:35:27.09\00:35:28.69 On Wednesday, I have Wednesday's lesson, 00:35:28.72\00:35:31.16 The Historical Jesus. 00:35:31.19\00:35:34.23 We look at the historical reliability 00:35:34.26\00:35:36.93 of Jesus. 00:35:36.97\00:35:38.30 You know, this quarter, 00:35:38.33\00:35:39.67 we have studied the Word of God, 00:35:39.70\00:35:41.04 have we not? 00:35:41.07\00:35:42.40 We have studied the authenticity, the validity, 00:35:42.44\00:35:45.07 the inspiration of the Word of God. 00:35:45.11\00:35:48.08 We've studied that the Bible 00:35:48.11\00:35:49.44 is to be trusted over tradition, 00:35:49.48\00:35:51.75 over experience, over culture, over reason, 00:35:51.78\00:35:56.95 but yet some people, Pastor Ryan, 00:35:56.99\00:35:58.95 still questioned the validity of the Word of God. 00:35:58.99\00:36:03.22 Some people even questioned 00:36:03.26\00:36:06.83 the historical accuracy of Jesus Christ. 00:36:06.86\00:36:10.77 Dr. Robert Price is an atheist and a mythicist. 00:36:10.80\00:36:16.44 He said, "Which is more likely, 00:36:16.47\00:36:18.34 that a man walked on water, glowed like the sun, 00:36:18.37\00:36:21.78 rose from the dead, 00:36:21.81\00:36:23.41 or that someone has rewritten 00:36:23.45\00:36:25.25 a bunch of well-known miracle stories?" 00:36:25.28\00:36:29.42 Historian Bart Ehrman, he is not a Christian, 00:36:29.45\00:36:33.22 he rejects Jesus as the Son of God. 00:36:33.25\00:36:36.06 Yet he counters that Jesus. 00:36:36.09\00:36:39.53 He says those who deny the historicity of Jesus 00:36:39.56\00:36:43.50 are simply choosing to disregard clear evidence." 00:36:43.53\00:36:46.40 Now that's from someone who's not even a Christian. 00:36:46.43\00:36:49.24 We're looking today at evidences 00:36:49.27\00:36:51.94 of the historical validity of Jesus Christ. 00:36:51.97\00:36:55.44 The fact that Jesus 00:36:55.48\00:36:56.85 really existed as a historical person. 00:36:56.88\00:36:59.81 We're gonna look at six evidences, 00:36:59.85\00:37:02.02 and then there's a number seven. 00:37:02.05\00:37:03.59 So I'm gonna tell you them upfront 00:37:03.62\00:37:04.95 and then we'll talk about them. 00:37:04.99\00:37:06.49 First evidence is the gospels. 00:37:06.52\00:37:08.59 Second, Roman historians. 00:37:08.62\00:37:11.63 Third, Paul's writings. 00:37:11.66\00:37:13.70 Fourth, archaeological evidence. 00:37:13.73\00:37:16.43 Fifth, experiential evidence. 00:37:16.46\00:37:19.53 Six, prophetic evidence. 00:37:19.57\00:37:23.00 And when we get to number seven, 00:37:23.04\00:37:24.37 it's up to us. 00:37:24.41\00:37:25.74 It's our choice 00:37:25.77\00:37:27.11 whether we're going to accept Jesus or not. 00:37:27.14\00:37:29.38 So let's look at number one, the gospels. 00:37:29.41\00:37:32.25 Scholars have criticized the gospels 00:37:32.28\00:37:34.88 as being legendary in nature, rather than being historical. 00:37:34.92\00:37:39.52 And they base that on many things, 00:37:39.55\00:37:41.46 but we're gonna pick on two. 00:37:41.49\00:37:42.89 One is the timeframe 00:37:42.92\00:37:44.26 for when the gospels were written. 00:37:44.29\00:37:45.69 And the second is some alleged contradictions 00:37:45.73\00:37:48.76 that they seem to find within the gospels. 00:37:48.80\00:37:52.23 If you look at the timeframe of the gospels, 00:37:52.27\00:37:54.24 and you study that. 00:37:54.27\00:37:56.04 Mark is probably the first gospel 00:37:56.07\00:37:57.44 written. 00:37:57.47\00:37:58.81 Matthew, Mark, and Luke were all written 00:37:58.84\00:38:01.11 during the time when people who walked and talk to Jesus, 00:38:01.14\00:38:04.95 people who were eyewitnesses of Jesus, 00:38:04.98\00:38:07.82 people who heard His miracles, 00:38:07.85\00:38:09.88 people who witnessed the crucifixion 00:38:09.92\00:38:12.25 or witnessed or, you know, the resurrection, 00:38:12.29\00:38:14.99 all of that, eyewitnesses of Him. 00:38:15.02\00:38:17.69 They were contemporaries of when Matthew, Mark, 00:38:17.73\00:38:20.90 and Luke were written. 00:38:20.93\00:38:22.76 That means they were eyewitnesses of that. 00:38:22.80\00:38:25.20 Now, of course, we know John was written in much later, 00:38:25.23\00:38:27.90 but Matthew, Mark, and Luke was clearly written 00:38:27.94\00:38:30.71 when the eyewitnesses of Jesus' ministry were alive. 00:38:30.74\00:38:34.78 You look at these apparent or alleged contradictions 00:38:34.81\00:38:38.21 that you find in the gospels. 00:38:38.25\00:38:40.28 The apparent small disparities in some of the gospels 00:38:40.32\00:38:43.02 are really proof of its accuracy 00:38:43.05\00:38:46.39 because if they were identical, that would show collaboration. 00:38:46.42\00:38:51.03 In other words, if I were writing something 00:38:51.06\00:38:53.03 I would tell Danny behind everybody else's back. 00:38:53.06\00:38:55.10 Well, Danny, we're gonna agree on this point. 00:38:55.13\00:38:57.77 Pastor Ryan, we're gonna agree on this point. 00:38:57.80\00:38:59.73 Pastor Kenny, we better all say the same thing. 00:38:59.77\00:39:02.17 So then when we come out with it, 00:39:02.20\00:39:03.71 our stories appear to match. 00:39:03.74\00:39:06.84 You know, you think about it. 00:39:06.88\00:39:08.51 The four gospels are complimentary, 00:39:08.54\00:39:11.01 not contradictory. 00:39:11.05\00:39:13.58 You think if someone were to write, say, 00:39:13.62\00:39:16.22 someone were to write a book about, say, the life of James, 00:39:16.25\00:39:19.42 whoever James is, 00:39:19.45\00:39:20.79 and what if the biography about James 00:39:20.82\00:39:23.02 is written by his son, by his father, 00:39:23.06\00:39:26.80 by a co-worker, and by a friend. 00:39:26.83\00:39:29.66 Now the son would write about James 00:39:29.70\00:39:31.33 from the aspect of this is who he is, as a father. 00:39:31.37\00:39:35.04 The father of James would write about him 00:39:35.07\00:39:37.04 from the aspect of this is James as the son. 00:39:37.07\00:39:39.34 The co-worker would just say, 00:39:39.37\00:39:40.71 "Well, this is him as an acquaintance." 00:39:40.74\00:39:42.54 And the friend would say, 00:39:42.58\00:39:43.91 "Oh, these are the intimate details 00:39:43.95\00:39:45.58 of James' life 00:39:45.61\00:39:46.95 because I really know James." 00:39:46.98\00:39:49.12 So they would have different perspectives, 00:39:49.15\00:39:51.92 but you would see a unity. 00:39:51.95\00:39:54.06 That's the historical evidence 00:39:54.09\00:39:55.92 for the validity of Jesus Christ, 00:39:55.96\00:39:57.29 number one, the gospels. 00:39:57.33\00:39:58.66 Number two, Roman historians. We're gonna look at two. 00:39:58.69\00:40:02.10 First is Josephus and the second is Tacitus. 00:40:02.13\00:40:05.37 Now Josephus was a Jewish politician, 00:40:05.40\00:40:08.50 soldier, and historian. 00:40:08.54\00:40:10.11 He probably lived from around AD 37 to 100. 00:40:10.14\00:40:13.84 He's born in Jerusalem 00:40:13.88\00:40:15.21 shortly after Christ's crucifixion. 00:40:15.24\00:40:17.08 His father was a highly respected priest. 00:40:17.11\00:40:20.52 So his family would have been well aware of Jesus 00:40:20.55\00:40:23.45 and His followers. 00:40:23.49\00:40:25.45 Josephus is considered 00:40:25.49\00:40:27.12 the single most important Jewish historian 00:40:27.16\00:40:29.92 of the ancient world. 00:40:29.96\00:40:31.33 He wrote a book Antiquities 00:40:31.36\00:40:32.69 and in it he talks about the death of James. 00:40:32.73\00:40:35.23 This is James in the Book of Acts, 00:40:35.26\00:40:37.47 New Testament James. 00:40:37.50\00:40:39.70 Josephus calls James the brother of Jesus 00:40:39.73\00:40:41.87 who was called Christ. 00:40:41.90\00:40:44.67 Now Josephus, 00:40:44.71\00:40:46.04 we already established was Jewish, 00:40:46.07\00:40:47.44 he was not a Christian, 00:40:47.48\00:40:49.08 but this is a non-Christian attestation 00:40:49.11\00:40:51.75 of as it were, of the historicity of Jesus. 00:40:51.78\00:40:55.52 Then we also see Josephus writing about Caiaphas. 00:40:55.55\00:40:58.85 He says, this is in 00:40:58.89\00:41:00.22 Josephus Complete Works, book 18." 00:41:00.26\00:41:02.42 He says, "Besides which he also deprived Joseph, 00:41:02.46\00:41:05.56 who was called Caiaphas of the high priesthood, 00:41:05.59\00:41:08.06 and appointed Jonathan, the son of Ananus, 00:41:08.10\00:41:09.90 the former high priests, to succeed him." 00:41:09.93\00:41:12.43 Now we look at Tacitus. Now Tacitus was not a Jew. 00:41:12.47\00:41:15.14 He's a Roman historian. 00:41:15.17\00:41:17.21 He lived probably between AD 56 and 120. 00:41:17.24\00:41:20.58 Modern historian say, 00:41:20.61\00:41:21.94 his book Annals 00:41:21.98\00:41:23.31 is the best source of information 00:41:23.35\00:41:24.68 about this period in Roman history. 00:41:24.71\00:41:26.88 Now Tacitus discusses Nero, the Emperor Nero, 00:41:26.92\00:41:30.62 and how he blamed this devastating fire in Rome, 00:41:30.65\00:41:34.16 on the Christians. 00:41:34.19\00:41:35.92 He says this, 00:41:35.96\00:41:37.29 "To squelch the rumor, Nero created scapegoats 00:41:37.33\00:41:40.53 and subjected to the most refined tortures 00:41:40.56\00:41:43.16 those whom the common people called 'Christians, ' 00:41:43.20\00:41:45.67 hated for their abominable crimes. 00:41:45.70\00:41:48.00 Their names come from Christ, 00:41:48.04\00:41:50.81 who, during the reign of Tiberius, 00:41:50.84\00:41:52.17 had been executed 00:41:52.21\00:41:53.54 by the procurator Pontius Pilate." 00:41:53.58\00:41:55.98 So this is a Roman historian 00:41:56.01\00:41:57.58 who acknowledges the validity of Pontius Pilate, 00:41:57.61\00:42:00.15 the validity of Tiberius and the validity of Christ. 00:42:00.18\00:42:05.02 Now we look at Paul's writings. 00:42:05.05\00:42:06.59 Paul's writings 00:42:06.62\00:42:07.96 are the earliest Christian documents we have 00:42:07.99\00:42:09.96 authenticity, the validity, 00:42:09.99\00:42:11.93 and historical proof 00:42:11.96\00:42:13.29 of the existence of Jesus Christ. 00:42:13.33\00:42:15.43 Now you think about it. 00:42:15.46\00:42:16.80 Paul taught on the crucifixion of Jesus, 00:42:16.83\00:42:19.83 and that was not the most popular thing. 00:42:19.87\00:42:22.34 Why was it not so popular? 00:42:22.37\00:42:23.87 The Jewish people believed anybody 00:42:23.91\00:42:26.61 who was crucified on a cross was blasphemous, 00:42:26.64\00:42:30.18 was cursed from the law. 00:42:30.21\00:42:32.05 Paul tells us that in Galatians 3:13, 00:42:32.08\00:42:34.58 "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, 00:42:34.62\00:42:37.49 having become a curse for us," 00:42:37.52\00:42:38.85 because it is written, 00:42:38.89\00:42:40.22 "'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.'" 00:42:40.26\00:42:42.12 Now that comes from Deuteronomy 20:1, 00:42:42.16\00:42:44.13 where the Jewish people believed 00:42:44.16\00:42:45.83 whoever hung on a tree, 00:42:45.86\00:42:47.20 whoever was crucified in that way, 00:42:47.23\00:42:48.66 was cursed for blasphemy. 00:42:48.70\00:42:50.63 So when Paul preaches Jesus crucified, 00:42:50.67\00:42:53.70 that's why he says in 1 Corinthians 1:23. 00:42:53.74\00:42:56.74 1 Corinthians 1:23-25, 00:42:56.77\00:42:59.37 "We preach Christ crucified, 00:42:59.41\00:43:00.91 to the Jews a stumbling block, " 00:43:00.94\00:43:02.34 because to them it was like he committed blasphemy, 00:43:02.38\00:43:05.41 he died and he was crucified, 00:43:05.45\00:43:08.85 "to the Jews it's a stumbling block, 00:43:08.88\00:43:10.79 to the Greeks it's foolishness, 00:43:10.82\00:43:12.95 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, 00:43:12.99\00:43:15.49 Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." 00:43:15.52\00:43:19.26 Let's look at number four, archaeological evidence. 00:43:19.29\00:43:23.30 In 1990, 00:43:23.33\00:43:25.33 a family tomb was discovered south of Jerusalem 00:43:25.37\00:43:28.67 that contained 12 different bone boxes, 00:43:28.70\00:43:32.51 and the most ornate one had a name Joseph, 00:43:32.54\00:43:36.24 son of Caiaphas. 00:43:36.28\00:43:38.48 Now before that time, scholars had said, 00:43:38.51\00:43:40.22 "Well, Caiaphas didn't even exist." 00:43:40.25\00:43:41.88 Even though the Roman historian had said that he did. 00:43:41.92\00:43:45.45 However, here's some archaeological evidence 00:43:45.49\00:43:47.96 that he existed. 00:43:47.99\00:43:49.46 And in 1961, of course, they found that stone 00:43:49.49\00:43:51.83 with the inscription for Pontius Pilate. 00:43:51.86\00:43:54.86 We see experiential evidence 00:43:54.90\00:43:56.83 and this is probably the reason 00:43:56.87\00:43:58.90 I chose to accept Jesus into my heart 00:43:58.93\00:44:01.30 and to follow Him. 00:44:01.34\00:44:02.84 That Psalm 34:8, 00:44:02.87\00:44:04.84 "Taste and see that the Lord is good." 00:44:04.87\00:44:08.14 If you have tried Jesus, 00:44:08.18\00:44:10.91 I mean that 00:44:10.95\00:44:12.28 in the most respectful way possible. 00:44:12.31\00:44:14.05 If you have experienced Him for yourself, 00:44:14.08\00:44:17.15 you will know that He's real. 00:44:17.19\00:44:20.72 Number six, prophetic evidence. 00:44:20.76\00:44:23.59 We see numerous evidences in the Word of God 00:44:23.63\00:44:26.66 of the prophecies being fulfilled 00:44:26.70\00:44:29.16 exactly as they were predicted. 00:44:29.20\00:44:32.23 And finally it comes down to at the end. 00:44:32.27\00:44:34.94 It's a choice for us. 00:44:34.97\00:44:37.07 Comes down to our choice. 00:44:37.11\00:44:38.44 We can look, "Okay, yes, 00:44:38.47\00:44:39.84 the gospels prove the validity of Jesus." 00:44:39.87\00:44:42.54 The Roman historians validate it, 00:44:42.58\00:44:44.35 archaeology validates it, Paul's writings too. 00:44:44.38\00:44:49.18 I can experience Him. 00:44:49.22\00:44:51.05 Prophetic evidence does, 00:44:51.09\00:44:52.42 but what are you going to do with Jesus? 00:44:52.45\00:44:56.66 Joshua 24:15. 00:44:56.69\00:44:59.16 Joshua says, 00:44:59.19\00:45:00.53 "If it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, 00:45:00.56\00:45:02.06 choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, 00:45:02.10\00:45:06.60 whether the gods your fathers served 00:45:06.63\00:45:08.10 on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites. 00:45:08.14\00:45:11.07 But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." 00:45:11.11\00:45:15.41 We have made a decision here at 3ABN, 00:45:15.44\00:45:17.91 we will serve the Lord, 00:45:17.95\00:45:19.28 and we just wanna appeal to you, 00:45:19.31\00:45:20.65 make a decision to follow the Christ. 00:45:20.68\00:45:23.18 Amen. That's right. 00:45:23.22\00:45:24.85 Praise the Lord. That was so powerful. 00:45:24.89\00:45:28.49 I was hoping 00:45:28.52\00:45:29.86 that she was gonna get through it all 00:45:29.89\00:45:31.23 because you had fellowship... 00:45:31.26\00:45:32.59 I was hoping too. 00:45:32.63\00:45:33.96 Flipping through pages over here, 00:45:34.00\00:45:35.33 but she did a fantastic job. 00:45:35.36\00:45:36.70 Praise the Lord. 00:45:36.73\00:45:38.07 I mean, I have Thursday's lesson 00:45:38.10\00:45:39.43 which is entitled Faith and History. 00:45:39.47\00:45:41.34 And we're going to be looking in this particular lesson 00:45:41.37\00:45:44.64 at the historical count of multiple individuals 00:45:44.67\00:45:48.18 who we see in history are prime examples 00:45:48.21\00:45:51.25 of what it means to have faith in God 00:45:51.28\00:45:53.18 or to exercise a faith in God. 00:45:53.21\00:45:55.35 This is the foundation of Christianity. 00:45:55.38\00:45:58.19 The Bible makes it clear that, you know, 00:45:58.22\00:45:59.95 that we are saved by grace through faith 00:45:59.99\00:46:02.79 and not of works, lest anyone should boast. 00:46:02.82\00:46:04.26 So we need to be clear 00:46:04.29\00:46:05.66 as to what faith is and what does it look like. 00:46:05.69\00:46:08.30 And we have a great biblical historical account 00:46:08.33\00:46:11.50 as to what that looks like. 00:46:11.53\00:46:13.23 And so I love the way Thursday's lesson opens up. 00:46:13.27\00:46:15.27 It says, "We do not live in vacuums. 00:46:15.30\00:46:18.77 Our choices influence not just ourselves, 00:46:18.81\00:46:21.38 but others, as well. 00:46:21.41\00:46:23.31 In the same way, 00:46:23.35\00:46:24.68 the lives of many of God's ancient people 00:46:24.71\00:46:26.85 have had a great impact on the future 00:46:26.88\00:46:29.02 of others besides themselves." 00:46:29.05\00:46:31.82 It goes on to say, "In Hebrews 11, 00:46:31.85\00:46:34.06 that well-known 'faith' chapter, 00:46:34.09\00:46:35.49 we see in summary 00:46:35.52\00:46:36.86 the influence 00:46:36.89\00:46:38.23 of many of these ancient heroes of faith." 00:46:38.26\00:46:40.20 And that's what we're actually gonna go 00:46:40.23\00:46:41.56 so you wanna go ahead and slide over 00:46:41.60\00:46:43.23 to Hebrews Chapter 11. 00:46:43.26\00:46:44.60 We're gonna spend some time in this chapter 00:46:44.63\00:46:47.00 for the remainder of the time that we have, 00:46:47.04\00:46:48.80 but, man, I tell you, 00:46:48.84\00:46:50.17 this is one of my favorite chapters 00:46:50.21\00:46:51.54 because it reminds me of these great men 00:46:51.57\00:46:53.68 and women of faith, 00:46:53.71\00:46:55.04 who I mean, 00:46:55.08\00:46:56.88 you look at the circumstances that were set before them 00:46:56.91\00:47:00.38 and what they had to go through the experiences 00:47:00.42\00:47:02.42 that they had to go through. 00:47:02.45\00:47:03.79 I mean, we know, we all have experiences. 00:47:03.82\00:47:06.05 We all have trials and tribulations in our life. 00:47:06.09\00:47:08.49 When you look at the trials and tribulations 00:47:08.52\00:47:10.29 that these people went through in the old days, 00:47:10.33\00:47:12.26 it's like, "Man, 00:47:12.29\00:47:13.63 how did they have the faith to get through that?" 00:47:13.66\00:47:16.26 And we see that these are powerful men 00:47:16.30\00:47:17.90 and women from faith. 00:47:17.93\00:47:19.27 And we can learn from that. 00:47:19.30\00:47:20.64 Before we actually dive into that though, I wanna just, 00:47:20.67\00:47:22.80 I just wanna highlight and emphasize 00:47:22.84\00:47:25.74 the correct meaning of what faith is? 00:47:25.77\00:47:28.34 We wanna kind of look at a definition of faith. 00:47:28.38\00:47:30.81 Now we know that the Bible gives us 00:47:30.85\00:47:32.41 a clear definition of faith. 00:47:32.45\00:47:33.78 And we're gonna read that in just a few moments here 00:47:33.82\00:47:35.22 at the beginning of Hebrews Chapter 11. 00:47:35.25\00:47:37.85 But I was doing some research and I decided 00:47:37.89\00:47:39.75 you don't wanna just kind of see 00:47:39.79\00:47:41.12 what some of these other, 00:47:41.16\00:47:42.49 you know, Bible dictionaries, how they define faith. 00:47:42.52\00:47:45.36 And I found this particular one 00:47:45.39\00:47:46.73 that I found was most true and in harmony 00:47:46.76\00:47:49.66 with what the Bible teaches is faith. 00:47:49.70\00:47:51.03 And this is, 00:47:51.07\00:47:52.40 it comes from the Easton's Bible Dictionary. 00:47:52.43\00:47:54.20 And here's the definition that they give. 00:47:54.24\00:47:56.27 "Faith is in general the persuasion of the mind 00:47:56.30\00:47:59.51 that a certain statement is true." 00:47:59.54\00:48:01.64 And then they give some biblical text here, 00:48:01.68\00:48:03.11 Philippians 1:27, 00:48:03.14\00:48:04.58 as well as 2 Thessalonians 2:13. 00:48:04.61\00:48:06.92 And they go on to say, "Its primary idea is trust." 00:48:06.95\00:48:11.42 Okay, don't miss that 00:48:11.45\00:48:12.79 because faith's primary idea is trust. 00:48:12.82\00:48:16.19 "A thing is true, and therefore worthy of trust. 00:48:16.22\00:48:20.36 It admits of many degrees up to full assurance of faith, 00:48:20.40\00:48:24.93 in accordance with the evidence on which it rests." 00:48:24.97\00:48:27.77 Okay, I'll read that last line one more time. 00:48:27.80\00:48:29.34 "It admits of many degrees 00:48:29.37\00:48:30.84 up to the full assurance of faith, 00:48:30.87\00:48:32.64 in accordance with the evidence on which it rests." 00:48:32.67\00:48:36.54 Now we come to the biblical, 00:48:36.58\00:48:38.48 probably the most clear biblical definition 00:48:38.51\00:48:40.22 that we have in Scripture as to what faith is. 00:48:40.25\00:48:42.55 Now it's not limited to this one text, 00:48:42.58\00:48:44.62 but certainly gives us a nice indication 00:48:44.65\00:48:47.42 of how Scripture was inspired and how in this case, 00:48:47.46\00:48:50.56 we believe the author was Paul, 00:48:50.59\00:48:52.19 even though it doesn't state that clearly 00:48:52.23\00:48:54.73 under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, 00:48:54.76\00:48:56.43 this is what the Scripture says faith is. 00:48:56.46\00:48:59.87 Hebrews 11:1, 00:48:59.90\00:49:01.30 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, 00:49:01.34\00:49:04.71 the evidence of things not seen." 00:49:04.74\00:49:07.94 In other words, 00:49:07.98\00:49:09.31 if you could take all of those words, 00:49:09.34\00:49:11.38 and you could sum them up into one word, 00:49:11.41\00:49:14.02 what would it probably be? 00:49:14.05\00:49:16.62 Trust. 00:49:16.65\00:49:18.39 A faith, foundation of faith is trust, 00:49:18.42\00:49:22.06 trusting in someone or something 00:49:22.09\00:49:24.29 that you may not necessarily know all about, 00:49:24.33\00:49:27.43 but you have put faith in. 00:49:27.46\00:49:29.06 You have put trust into that person 00:49:29.10\00:49:31.10 or that something. 00:49:31.13\00:49:32.47 Verse 2 says, 00:49:32.50\00:49:33.84 "For by it the elders obtain a good testimony." 00:49:33.87\00:49:37.44 Verse 3, says, 00:49:37.47\00:49:38.81 "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed 00:49:38.84\00:49:40.88 by the word of God." 00:49:40.91\00:49:42.24 I love that 00:49:42.28\00:49:43.61 'cause we've been talking in previous lessons 00:49:43.65\00:49:44.98 about the creation account in Genesis 00:49:45.01\00:49:46.88 and we have to take that stuff by faith. 00:49:46.92\00:49:48.98 We weren't there when God said, 00:49:49.02\00:49:50.55 let there be a mountain over there. 00:49:50.59\00:49:51.92 Poof! 00:49:51.95\00:49:53.29 And there was a mountain, you know, 00:49:53.32\00:49:54.66 we believe that it happened that way 00:49:54.69\00:49:56.02 because of God's Word. 00:49:56.06\00:49:57.39 We put faith in God's Word. 00:49:57.43\00:49:58.76 So by faith, we understand the worlds 00:49:58.79\00:50:00.30 were framed by the Word of God, 00:50:00.33\00:50:02.03 so that the things which are seen 00:50:02.06\00:50:03.60 were not made of things which are visible. 00:50:03.63\00:50:07.34 You know, I have not 00:50:07.37\00:50:08.70 at least I don't think I have visibly seen God, 00:50:08.74\00:50:12.87 but I believe in Him, I trust in Him, 00:50:12.91\00:50:15.51 I put my faith in Him because He is God Almighty. 00:50:15.54\00:50:18.88 And I know, I know that He exists. 00:50:18.91\00:50:20.98 I know deep down in my bones, I have that faith. 00:50:21.02\00:50:23.65 And I've had people question me on that, 00:50:23.69\00:50:25.29 how could you believe in something 00:50:25.32\00:50:26.65 that you haven't seen, haven't heard, haven't felt, 00:50:26.69\00:50:29.36 you know, that tangibility aspect? 00:50:29.39\00:50:31.16 If it's not tangible, the people of the world 00:50:31.19\00:50:33.26 that we live in today in this Babylonian era 00:50:33.29\00:50:35.76 that we live in, 00:50:35.80\00:50:37.13 if it's not tangible, if you can't see it, hear it, 00:50:37.17\00:50:39.23 if it's not real to their senses, 00:50:39.27\00:50:41.97 and they can't perceive it according to their senses, 00:50:42.00\00:50:44.01 then it must not be there, 00:50:44.04\00:50:45.77 but we know that that is the case 00:50:45.81\00:50:47.14 while we see evidences of God. 00:50:47.18\00:50:49.01 We have to exercise faith that this God really does exist 00:50:49.04\00:50:51.75 and works through us. 00:50:51.78\00:50:53.11 We see 00:50:53.15\00:50:54.48 wonderful historical examples of faith 00:50:54.52\00:50:56.92 throughout the historicity of Scripture. 00:50:56.95\00:51:00.86 I've mentioned this in one of my previous lessons. 00:51:00.89\00:51:03.36 So I'm not gonna go through this entire chapter, 00:51:03.39\00:51:05.46 but just listing a few here 00:51:05.49\00:51:06.83 that is mentioned in this particular chapter. 00:51:06.86\00:51:08.56 For instance, verse 4 in Hebrews 11 00:51:08.60\00:51:10.87 talks about how Abel offered to God 00:51:10.90\00:51:13.17 a more excellent sacrifice than Cain. 00:51:13.20\00:51:15.24 That was by faith, right? 00:51:15.27\00:51:16.91 He had to exercise that by faith. 00:51:16.94\00:51:19.07 He had to believe in trusting God's Word 00:51:19.11\00:51:21.01 when God said, "Do that, and I'll bless you." 00:51:21.04\00:51:22.38 Right? 00:51:22.41\00:51:23.75 That, you know, he had to exercise faith. 00:51:23.78\00:51:25.61 Of course, Enoch was a man of faith. 00:51:25.65\00:51:27.62 The Bible says he walked and talked with God. 00:51:27.65\00:51:29.92 Okay, so that being said, 00:51:29.95\00:51:31.45 he still had to trust in God's Word 00:51:31.49\00:51:34.22 that when God said He was gonna do something 00:51:34.26\00:51:35.79 that He was gonna do it, right? 00:51:35.82\00:51:37.16 Absolutely. 00:51:37.19\00:51:38.53 We'll also see Noah, this is a wonderful example. 00:51:38.56\00:51:40.63 Verse 7 here, notice Hebrews 11:7, 00:51:40.66\00:51:44.70 "By faith Noah, 00:51:44.73\00:51:46.80 being divinely warned of things not yet seen." 00:51:46.84\00:51:50.47 That's powerful. There it is. 00:51:50.51\00:51:52.21 "Moved with godly fear, 00:51:52.24\00:51:53.91 prepared an ark for the saving of his household, 00:51:53.94\00:51:56.18 by which he condemned the world 00:51:56.21\00:51:58.11 and became heir of the righteousness 00:51:58.15\00:52:00.22 which is according to faith." 00:52:00.25\00:52:02.68 Noah acted in faith when he built the ark, 00:52:02.72\00:52:06.15 trusting in the Word of God over experience and reason. 00:52:06.19\00:52:10.63 You see experience and reason up to that point, 00:52:10.66\00:52:13.06 he could have easily said, "Wait a second, what's rain?" 00:52:13.09\00:52:16.46 God says, "It's gonna rain." What's that? 00:52:16.50\00:52:18.73 'Cause it did never rain before, right? 00:52:18.77\00:52:20.10 So reason and experience said, 00:52:20.14\00:52:21.90 there is no rain coming even though he says it is. 00:52:21.94\00:52:24.01 No, he trusted in God's Word. 00:52:24.04\00:52:25.61 And he acted on it, he built that ark. 00:52:25.64\00:52:27.31 And because of that he saved, you know, 00:52:27.34\00:52:29.44 the human race was able to be survived. 00:52:29.48\00:52:31.88 Faith, I think of faithful Abraham. 00:52:31.91\00:52:34.02 He's probably one of the foundational examples. 00:52:34.05\00:52:36.25 It says, "By faith Abraham obeyed 00:52:36.28\00:52:38.19 when he was called to go up to the place 00:52:38.22\00:52:40.26 in which he would receive an inheritance. 00:52:40.29\00:52:42.06 And he went out, 00:52:42.09\00:52:43.43 not knowing where he was going." 00:52:43.46\00:52:45.73 Verse 9. 00:52:45.76\00:52:47.10 It says, "By faith he dwelt in the land of promise 00:52:47.13\00:52:50.37 as in a foreign country, 00:52:50.40\00:52:52.27 dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, 00:52:52.30\00:52:54.34 the heirs with him of the same promise." 00:52:54.37\00:52:57.04 Abraham was called out of Mesopotamia, 00:52:57.07\00:53:00.24 out of Ur, which is probably the most sophisticated city 00:53:00.28\00:53:03.65 on the planet at that particular time, 00:53:03.68\00:53:05.48 especially that particular region 00:53:05.51\00:53:07.68 called out into the sticks. 00:53:07.72\00:53:09.92 I mean, we're talking about the driest, rockiest, 00:53:09.95\00:53:12.25 desolate place on the planet. 00:53:12.29\00:53:13.99 And the Lord says, 00:53:14.02\00:53:15.36 "That's the land flowing with milk and honey, 00:53:15.39\00:53:16.73 I'm sending you over there." 00:53:16.76\00:53:18.09 That took faith, right? 00:53:18.13\00:53:19.46 He had the extra... 00:53:19.49\00:53:20.83 He had the trust in the Word of God. 00:53:20.86\00:53:23.06 Beautiful example. I love that. 00:53:23.10\00:53:25.03 Also Moses. 00:53:25.07\00:53:26.40 Now let's skip down to verse 23. 00:53:26.43\00:53:28.00 Here it says, "By faith Moses, when he was born, 00:53:28.04\00:53:30.44 was hidden three months by his parents, 00:53:30.47\00:53:32.34 because they saw he was a beautiful child, 00:53:32.37\00:53:34.61 and they were not afraid of the king's command." 00:53:34.64\00:53:37.21 And then let's skip down there to verse 27. 00:53:37.25\00:53:40.82 It says, "By faith," speaking of Moses, 00:53:40.85\00:53:42.95 "he forsook Egypt, 00:53:42.98\00:53:44.32 not fearing the wrath of the king, 00:53:44.35\00:53:45.69 for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible." 00:53:45.72\00:53:49.42 Notice that. 00:53:49.46\00:53:50.79 "By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, 00:53:50.83\00:53:53.16 lest he who destroyed 00:53:53.19\00:53:54.96 the firstborn should touch him." 00:53:55.00\00:53:56.67 By faith, Moses chose to become a shepherd 00:53:56.70\00:53:59.83 leading God's people 00:53:59.87\00:54:01.34 to the Promised Land 00:54:01.37\00:54:02.70 rather than to become the king over Egypt. 00:54:02.74\00:54:04.87 He had that opportunity, he could have chosen, 00:54:04.91\00:54:07.11 at that time Egypt probably was the most sophisticated city 00:54:07.14\00:54:11.01 or at least one of the most sophisticated cities 00:54:11.05\00:54:12.38 on the planet. 00:54:12.41\00:54:13.75 He left that to go to the sticks. 00:54:13.78\00:54:16.02 He caught him out of the city into the country 00:54:16.05\00:54:18.29 where he had an encounter with the Lord. 00:54:18.32\00:54:20.09 He trusted in that voice that he heard coming 00:54:20.12\00:54:22.52 from that burning bush. 00:54:22.56\00:54:23.89 You will see the common theme 00:54:23.93\00:54:25.26 all the way through this chapter 00:54:25.29\00:54:27.16 is trusting in God's Word. 00:54:27.20\00:54:29.30 He trusted in God's Word. She trusted in God's Word. 00:54:29.33\00:54:32.53 Rahab trusted in the testimony that was given her 00:54:32.57\00:54:35.74 that there was a God that loved His people 00:54:35.77\00:54:37.44 and protected His people. 00:54:37.47\00:54:38.91 All of these people are wonderful examples. 00:54:38.94\00:54:40.48 I think of Daniel. Daniel is a prime example. 00:54:40.51\00:54:42.91 This brother went to a lions' den. 00:54:42.94\00:54:45.51 He was willing to say, you know what? 00:54:45.55\00:54:46.88 And even his three companions let's just, 00:54:46.92\00:54:48.38 I would rather be burned up than to disobey my God. 00:54:48.42\00:54:51.55 They put trust in God's Word 00:54:51.59\00:54:53.46 that even if he wouldn't deliver them, 00:54:53.49\00:54:55.06 Daniel going into that lions' den, 00:54:55.09\00:54:56.99 I would rather get eat up by hungry lions 00:54:57.03\00:54:59.19 and put my faith in God's Word than to disobey my God. 00:54:59.23\00:55:02.86 What does that say about us in these last days? 00:55:02.90\00:55:06.17 What does that say about us, we should be people of faith, 00:55:06.20\00:55:08.94 we should look at the circumstances 00:55:08.97\00:55:11.11 and the historical record 00:55:11.14\00:55:12.47 of those who came before us and say, 00:55:12.51\00:55:13.84 "Lord, if they can trust in Your Word, 00:55:13.88\00:55:16.34 if you have delivered them and work through them, 00:55:16.38\00:55:18.45 then I also will put my trust in You. 00:55:18.48\00:55:20.75 May we put our trust in God's Word. 00:55:20.78\00:55:22.82 May we trust in the same God that led Abraham, Isaac, 00:55:22.85\00:55:26.35 and Jacob and all the others. 00:55:26.39\00:55:27.92 May we come to the Lord in faith." 00:55:27.96\00:55:29.39 Amen. 00:55:29.42\00:55:30.76 Thank you, Ryan. Praise God. 00:55:30.79\00:55:32.13 Well, Pastor Kenny, 00:55:32.16\00:55:33.50 I'm gonna bounce the ball back to you. 00:55:33.53\00:55:34.86 Give us some closing thoughts? 00:55:34.90\00:55:36.23 Well, God answers prayers, 00:55:36.26\00:55:37.60 once again is through passage scripture 00:55:37.63\00:55:38.97 very, Hebrews 7:25, says, 00:55:39.00\00:55:41.37 "God is able to save to the uttermost all 00:55:41.40\00:55:44.27 that come to him, 00:55:44.31\00:55:45.64 seeing that he ever liveth to make intercession for us." 00:55:45.67\00:55:48.54 That's an answer to prayer. 00:55:48.58\00:55:49.91 Okay. Amen. 00:55:49.94\00:55:51.28 Danny? 00:55:51.31\00:55:52.65 Well, I was thinking back to my childhood 00:55:52.68\00:55:54.28 and one of the first songs 00:55:54.32\00:55:55.82 that I ever was taught by my Aunt Wanda 00:55:55.85\00:55:58.09 who used to teach Sabbath School. 00:55:58.12\00:55:59.85 Kenny will remember, Dare to be a Daniel, 00:55:59.89\00:56:03.46 Dare to stand alone, Dare to have a purpose firm, 00:56:03.49\00:56:06.80 Dare to make it known. 00:56:06.83\00:56:08.16 Amen. Thank you. 00:56:08.20\00:56:09.53 Thank you. That's wonderful. That's great song. 00:56:09.56\00:56:10.97 I remember that song too. Wow. 00:56:11.00\00:56:13.44 Isaiah 1:18, God speaking to us, 00:56:13.47\00:56:16.30 "'Come now, and let us reason together.' 00:56:16.34\00:56:18.87 Though your sins are like scarlet, 00:56:18.91\00:56:20.41 they shall be as white as snow, 00:56:20.44\00:56:22.54 though they are red like crimson, 00:56:22.58\00:56:24.08 they shall be as wool." 00:56:24.11\00:56:25.45 So our God is a God of faith, but a God of reason. 00:56:25.48\00:56:28.98 He invites us to come to Him to study, to learn of Him, 00:56:29.02\00:56:33.36 and your life will forever be changed. 00:56:33.39\00:56:35.32 Amen. Amen. 00:56:35.36\00:56:36.69 You know, considering the faith in history, 00:56:36.73\00:56:38.89 all of these people we just recently mentioned. 00:56:38.93\00:56:41.63 You know, I think of one other person, 00:56:41.66\00:56:43.00 Joseph. 00:56:43.03\00:56:44.37 Oh, yeah. Joseph. 00:56:44.40\00:56:45.73 I mean, he wasn't a perfect person, 00:56:45.77\00:56:47.34 but he certainly he went through a lot. 00:56:47.37\00:56:49.80 And for this brother to be several years in prison, 00:56:49.84\00:56:51.91 I'm sure he would have thought at some point. 00:56:51.94\00:56:53.34 Surely, the Lord has forsaken me. 00:56:53.38\00:56:55.31 Surely, the Lord has given up on me. 00:56:55.34\00:56:56.71 That voice that I heard that once guided me 00:56:56.75\00:56:58.61 that gave me visions and dreams, 00:56:58.65\00:57:00.38 surely he has gone from me, 00:57:00.42\00:57:01.75 but he never ever swayed from the Word of God. 00:57:01.78\00:57:04.39 And I wanna be like a Joseph 00:57:04.42\00:57:06.02 who went on to be a great man 00:57:06.05\00:57:08.26 and gathering bread 00:57:08.29\00:57:09.62 for his people in the last days, 00:57:09.66\00:57:10.99 we need to be gathering bread. 00:57:11.03\00:57:12.36 May we start to gather the bread of the Word of God 00:57:12.39\00:57:13.93 in these last days 00:57:13.96\00:57:15.30 that we may exercise faith also. 00:57:15.33\00:57:16.97 Amen. Amen. 00:57:17.00\00:57:18.33 Well, we enjoyed that lesson, 00:57:18.37\00:57:19.87 we covered quite a bit by genealogies as it were, 00:57:19.90\00:57:23.14 the three of us, 00:57:23.17\00:57:24.51 and the historical Jesus, then faith and trust, 00:57:24.54\00:57:27.51 and all those things are necessary. 00:57:27.54\00:57:29.08 We've covered amazing aspects of the Word of God. 00:57:29.11\00:57:32.38 And now Matthew 1:17 summarizing, 00:57:32.41\00:57:34.68 I think what we talked about in genealogies 00:57:34.72\00:57:36.42 and in David and all the generations, 00:57:36.45\00:57:38.42 the Bible says in Matthew 1:17, 00:57:38.45\00:57:40.16 "So all the generations from Adam to David 00:57:40.19\00:57:42.66 are fourteen generations, 00:57:42.69\00:57:44.03 from David until the captivity in Babylon 00:57:44.06\00:57:46.23 are fourteen generations, 00:57:46.26\00:57:47.60 from the captivity in Babylon 00:57:47.63\00:57:49.16 until the Christ are fourteen generations. 00:57:49.20\00:57:51.40 Do you have the family line, and the genealogy? 00:57:51.43\00:57:54.14 Coming up next in our lesson, study number 11. 00:57:54.17\00:57:56.50 Join us again, The Bible and Prophecy. 00:57:56.54\00:58:00.48 We're gonna dive back into prophecy. 00:58:00.51\00:58:01.84 We hope that you've been blessed 00:58:01.88\00:58:03.21 by this lesson study we have. 00:58:03.24\00:58:04.65 So look forward for the next lesson 00:58:04.68\00:58:06.75 and we know that God has another blessing 00:58:06.78\00:58:08.88 in store for you. 00:58:08.92\00:58:10.82 Amen.
