Praise the Lord. 00:02:39.42\00:02:40.92 Amen. 00:02:40.96\00:02:42.46 You know, when I was studying for this particular lesson, 00:02:42.49\00:02:45.66 it caught me off guard. 00:02:45.69\00:02:47.66 I'm gonna introduce what that is. 00:02:47.70\00:02:49.06 And if you have a copy of this lesson, 00:02:49.10\00:02:50.43 then you know exactly what I'm talking about. 00:02:50.47\00:02:52.90 And I kind of see now exactly 00:02:52.93\00:02:55.07 where the author was going with this 00:02:55.10\00:02:56.54 because we're talking about 00:02:56.57\00:02:57.91 How to Interpret Scripture, right? 00:02:57.94\00:03:00.11 And so I can see that 00:03:00.14\00:03:01.54 as we take on some of these more difficult 00:03:01.58\00:03:03.68 and sometimes strange topics like why are we studying this? 00:03:03.71\00:03:07.25 There is a purpose. 00:03:07.28\00:03:08.62 Sometimes you're gonna have questions, 00:03:08.65\00:03:09.98 people are gonna challenge you with things that, 00:03:10.02\00:03:11.82 you know, you have to be able to give an answer 00:03:11.85\00:03:13.66 for the Bible tells us to be able to, 00:03:13.69\00:03:15.69 you know, be ready to give an account 00:03:15.72\00:03:17.56 for the things that we are challenged about 00:03:17.59\00:03:19.16 and be able to stand on God's truth 00:03:19.19\00:03:21.26 and allow the Word of God to speak for itself. 00:03:21.30\00:03:24.27 Our memory text, of course, comes from Psalm 19:1, 00:03:24.30\00:03:28.14 and I'm gonna read that 00:03:28.17\00:03:29.50 and then we're going to have a prayer, 00:03:29.54\00:03:30.87 but notice what it says here, Psalm 19:1, 00:03:30.91\00:03:33.48 this comes from the New King James Version, it says, 00:03:33.51\00:03:35.18 "The heavens declare the glory of God, 00:03:35.21\00:03:38.21 and the firmament shows His handiwork." 00:03:38.25\00:03:41.55 And on that note, Pastor Lomacang, 00:03:41.58\00:03:43.15 would you like to have this prayer for us? 00:03:43.18\00:03:44.89 Loving Father in heaven, thank You for the opportunity. 00:03:44.92\00:03:47.46 You have reveal to us 00:03:47.49\00:03:48.89 the truth of Your unerring word. 00:03:48.92\00:03:51.39 Give us wisdom now to handle it for Your glory and honor, 00:03:51.43\00:03:54.73 we pray in Christ's name. 00:03:54.76\00:03:56.53 Amen. Amen. 00:03:56.56\00:03:58.40 Praise the Lord. 00:03:58.43\00:04:00.04 In the study on Sabbath Afternoon, 00:04:00.07\00:04:03.47 there was some interesting statistics 00:04:03.51\00:04:06.37 and information given there 00:04:06.41\00:04:07.98 that I would like to read at this time 00:04:08.01\00:04:09.84 to set us up for Sunday's lesson 00:04:09.88\00:04:11.61 which is quite interestingly entitled, 00:04:11.65\00:04:13.82 A Flat Earth? 00:04:13.85\00:04:15.78 Question mark. A Flat Earth? 00:04:15.82\00:04:18.92 Notice what Sabbath Afternoon says, 00:04:18.95\00:04:20.59 "Many great thinkers were inspired by Scripture 00:04:20.62\00:04:23.22 to explore God's created world. 00:04:23.26\00:04:27.10 As a result, modern science was born. 00:04:27.13\00:04:29.90 Johannes Kepler, Isaac Newton, John Ray, Robert Boyle, 00:04:29.93\00:04:34.34 and other early great scientists 00:04:34.37\00:04:36.20 believe that their work revealed 00:04:36.24\00:04:37.87 even more about the handiwork of God's creation. 00:04:37.91\00:04:41.94 After the French Revolution, however, 00:04:41.98\00:04:44.25 19th century science 00:04:44.28\00:04:46.15 began to move from a theistic worldview 00:04:46.18\00:04:49.32 to one based on naturalism and materialism, 00:04:49.35\00:04:52.69 often with no place at all for the supernatural. 00:04:52.72\00:04:55.89 These philosophical ideas were popularized 00:04:55.92\00:04:58.49 by Charles Darwin 00:04:58.53\00:05:00.00 On the Origin of Species," 00:05:00.03\00:05:01.50 of course, the book that he wrote. 00:05:01.53\00:05:03.47 "Since that time, 00:05:03.50\00:05:04.83 science has increasingly distanced itself 00:05:04.87\00:05:07.17 from its biblical foundation, 00:05:07.20\00:05:08.80 resulting in a radical reinterpretation 00:05:08.84\00:05:11.97 of the Genesis story." 00:05:12.01\00:05:13.48 Which is what we talked about essentially last week. 00:05:13.51\00:05:16.01 We're gonna continue that theme this week. 00:05:16.04\00:05:18.05 "Does the Bible teach and an antiquated, 00:05:18.08\00:05:21.32 unscientific view of cosmology? 00:05:21.35\00:05:24.75 Was the biblical account simply borrowed 00:05:24.79\00:05:27.39 from the surrounding pagan nations?" 00:05:27.42\00:05:30.06 And there are some people that say that, 00:05:30.09\00:05:31.76 of course, you know, the stories of Gilgamesh 00:05:31.79\00:05:33.53 and all the other different writings 00:05:33.56\00:05:35.23 that are out there, they say, 00:05:35.26\00:05:36.60 "Oh, you know, the Bible had to have come after that." 00:05:36.63\00:05:37.97 Well, that's what the author's asking here. 00:05:38.00\00:05:40.20 "Was the Bible culturally conditioned 00:05:40.24\00:05:43.17 by its place and time, 00:05:43.20\00:05:45.27 or does it inspired nature elevate us 00:05:45.31\00:05:48.44 to view of origins 00:05:48.48\00:05:51.01 that is complete in its divine framework?" 00:05:51.05\00:05:54.48 And so we're gonna continue through this study and again, 00:05:54.52\00:05:56.52 Sunday's lesson, A Flat Earth? 00:05:56.55\00:05:59.85 You know, I have over the years, you know, 00:05:59.89\00:06:02.29 traveling in evangelism, 00:06:02.32\00:06:04.09 doing many different Bible studies 00:06:04.13\00:06:05.46 in many different churches, 00:06:05.49\00:06:06.83 you run across people who they're confident, 00:06:06.86\00:06:09.43 and they're passionate about, 00:06:09.46\00:06:10.90 that they believe, 00:06:10.93\00:06:12.27 according to their personal research, 00:06:12.30\00:06:14.37 that the earth is flat, 00:06:14.40\00:06:16.07 and they believe that it is foundation in Scripture. 00:06:16.10\00:06:18.87 Now you and I, who might have a more a different, 00:06:18.91\00:06:22.88 probably more popular view that the world is round, 00:06:22.91\00:06:26.08 rather than flat. 00:06:26.11\00:06:27.45 We think of that and going, how could you get that, right? 00:06:27.48\00:06:30.15 From Scripture, but nonetheless, 00:06:30.19\00:06:31.52 let's look at a couple of examples 00:06:31.55\00:06:32.89 in Scripture. 00:06:32.92\00:06:34.26 We're gonna go to the Book of Revelation. 00:06:34.29\00:06:35.82 These are texts 00:06:35.86\00:06:37.19 in which someone might go to and say, 00:06:37.23\00:06:38.66 "Wait a second, if the Bible words it this way, 00:06:38.69\00:06:42.16 then there must be indeed a flat earth." 00:06:42.20\00:06:44.80 So Revelation Chapter 7, we're gonna begin there. 00:06:44.83\00:06:47.60 Revelation 7:1, 00:06:47.64\00:06:50.27 notice what the Bible says, 00:06:50.31\00:06:52.41 it says, "After these things I saw four angels 00:06:52.44\00:06:54.84 standing on the four corners of the earth, 00:06:54.88\00:06:57.85 holding the four winds of the earth, 00:06:57.88\00:06:59.58 that the wind should not blow on the earth, 00:06:59.61\00:07:01.82 or on the sea, or any tree." 00:07:01.85\00:07:04.19 So again, the four corners of the earth. 00:07:04.22\00:07:06.52 Now skip over to Revelation 20. 00:07:06.55\00:07:08.72 We're gonna look at verses 7 and 8 00:07:08.76\00:07:10.26 from Revelation Chapter 20. 00:07:10.29\00:07:11.63 So these are some biblical examples 00:07:11.66\00:07:12.99 of where someone might say, 00:07:13.03\00:07:14.36 "Wait a second, 00:07:14.40\00:07:15.73 is the earth flat 00:07:15.76\00:07:17.10 or do we live on a flat earth, right?" 00:07:17.13\00:07:18.93 Revelation 20:7-8 00:07:18.97\00:07:21.04 speaking of that period of 1,000 years 00:07:21.07\00:07:23.27 or after the 1,000 years it says, 00:07:23.30\00:07:24.67 "Now when the thousand years have expired, 00:07:24.71\00:07:27.88 Satan will be released from his prison 00:07:27.91\00:07:29.88 and will go out to deceive the nations which are," 00:07:29.91\00:07:31.65 notice again, 00:07:31.68\00:07:33.01 "in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, 00:07:33.05\00:07:35.62 to gather them together to battle, 00:07:35.65\00:07:36.99 whose number is as the sand of the sea." 00:07:37.02\00:07:40.46 Four corners, the four corners of the earth. 00:07:40.49\00:07:43.66 Well, if the earth is round, 00:07:43.69\00:07:45.03 and why does it have four corners, right? 00:07:45.06\00:07:46.53 I think a common explanation of this is, first of all, 00:07:46.56\00:07:49.23 we have to recognize 00:07:49.26\00:07:50.60 that the Book of Revelation 00:07:50.63\00:07:51.97 is a very, very highly symbolic book. 00:07:52.00\00:07:54.20 There's lots and lots of figurative 00:07:54.24\00:07:56.00 and symbolic language 00:07:56.04\00:07:57.37 flooded throughout this book 00:07:57.41\00:07:59.67 from Revelation 1 to Revelation 22. 00:07:59.71\00:08:02.14 And so John is simply using the term four corners 00:08:02.18\00:08:05.48 to communicate the four compass points 00:08:05.51\00:08:08.28 of the circular earth. 00:08:08.32\00:08:09.85 And we're gonna show biblical proof 00:08:09.88\00:08:11.22 as to how we know that in just a moment, 00:08:11.25\00:08:13.29 he is using symbolic and figurative language. 00:08:13.32\00:08:16.52 It's kind of like, you know, we might say, you know, 00:08:16.56\00:08:18.53 the sun sets in the west, right? 00:08:18.56\00:08:21.86 That's figurative language. 00:08:21.90\00:08:23.23 And we know that the sun is not literally setting 00:08:23.26\00:08:25.10 or sitting in the west, right? 00:08:25.13\00:08:26.47 And so in the same thing, the sun is rising in the east, 00:08:26.50\00:08:29.27 wrote rose in the east, you know, 00:08:29.30\00:08:31.07 it's a figurative language that we use to describe 00:08:31.11\00:08:34.28 the events around us in particular to the sun 00:08:34.31\00:08:37.31 to insist on a literal interpretation of this. 00:08:37.35\00:08:40.75 If we were to read these texts literally and say, okay, 00:08:40.78\00:08:42.85 this earth has to be flat because of these four corners. 00:08:42.88\00:08:45.22 To insist on a literal interpretation 00:08:45.25\00:08:46.82 of the text would be irresponsible 00:08:46.86\00:08:49.12 and I say this respectfully, 00:08:49.16\00:08:51.36 somewhat unintelligent 00:08:51.39\00:08:52.79 because of the scientific proof that we have today. 00:08:52.83\00:08:55.40 And it would be taking the passage completely 00:08:55.43\00:08:58.13 out of context. 00:08:58.17\00:08:59.50 Now, just to further establish this point, 00:08:59.53\00:09:02.80 we know that not only does Bible prophecy 00:09:02.84\00:09:04.71 often use this figurative language 00:09:04.74\00:09:06.88 or the symbolic language, 00:09:06.91\00:09:08.24 but we also see even Jesus in His teachings 00:09:08.28\00:09:10.45 and His parables and His discourses 00:09:10.48\00:09:12.31 often used this figurative language, 00:09:12.35\00:09:14.18 symbolic language to communicate a moral point. 00:09:14.22\00:09:16.89 For instance, Matthew 15:19 00:09:16.92\00:09:19.82 would be a prime example of this. 00:09:19.85\00:09:21.22 So again, Matthew 15:19, says, and this is Jesus speaking, 00:09:21.26\00:09:25.79 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, 00:09:25.83\00:09:31.83 adulteries, fornications, thefts, 00:09:31.87\00:09:34.30 false witnesses or false witness, 00:09:34.34\00:09:36.64 and blasphemies." 00:09:36.67\00:09:38.01 So again, if we were to take this text literal, 00:09:38.04\00:09:39.91 okay, you know, we would have to assume 00:09:39.94\00:09:42.14 that Jesus is talking about that, 00:09:42.18\00:09:43.71 you know, cardiac pump 00:09:43.75\00:09:45.08 in our chest, that something, 00:09:45.11\00:09:46.45 all these things are coming out of, 00:09:46.48\00:09:47.82 and of course, we read that 00:09:47.85\00:09:49.18 and it's somewhat silly to even think 00:09:49.22\00:09:50.55 that that's the case, right? 00:09:50.59\00:09:51.92 Because we know that He's using 00:09:51.95\00:09:53.29 a figurative speech to communicate a moral point. 00:09:53.32\00:09:56.02 Now I said earlier 00:09:56.06\00:09:57.39 that we would look at biblical proof 00:09:57.43\00:09:58.93 as to where we get the concept of living on a round earth 00:09:58.96\00:10:03.53 because we know that the earth is not flat, 00:10:03.57\00:10:05.00 the Bible tells us that it's not flat. 00:10:05.03\00:10:07.07 Let's go to Job Chapter 26. 00:10:07.10\00:10:09.67 Job Chapter 26. 00:10:09.70\00:10:11.14 And we're gonna be looking at verses 7-10. 00:10:11.17\00:10:16.34 Job 26:7-10. 00:10:16.38\00:10:19.71 Somebody have that wanna read it for us? 00:10:19.75\00:10:21.28 Job 26:7-10. 00:10:21.32\00:10:23.99 "He stretches out the north over empty space, 00:10:24.02\00:10:26.55 He hangs the earth on nothing. 00:10:26.59\00:10:28.52 He binds up the water in His thick clouds, 00:10:28.56\00:10:30.76 yet the clouds are not broken under it. 00:10:30.79\00:10:33.19 He covers the face of His throne, 00:10:33.23\00:10:35.30 and spreads His cloud over it. 00:10:35.33\00:10:37.23 He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, 00:10:37.27\00:10:41.00 at the boundary of light and darkness." 00:10:41.04\00:10:43.07 Okay, so right there we have a clear indication that, 00:10:43.10\00:10:46.78 you know, this earth is circular. 00:10:46.81\00:10:48.58 And you'll notice that these are not prophetic 00:10:48.61\00:10:50.68 or figurative words. 00:10:50.71\00:10:52.05 These are not symbolic words. 00:10:52.08\00:10:53.68 This is a clear description from Job, 00:10:53.72\00:10:55.92 obviously under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, 00:10:55.95\00:10:58.09 recounting the creative works of Jesus at the beginning. 00:10:58.12\00:11:01.79 Of course, we're talking about Creation with Genesis 00:11:01.82\00:11:03.96 as the foundation. 00:11:03.99\00:11:05.33 When we read that Genesis creative account, 00:11:05.36\00:11:07.06 we can accept it by faith. 00:11:07.10\00:11:08.53 Even though we weren't there, 00:11:08.56\00:11:09.90 we know that it was true, right? 00:11:09.93\00:11:11.27 Let's go to Isaiah 40:21-22. 00:11:11.30\00:11:16.17 Isaiah 40:21-22. 00:11:16.20\00:11:19.44 And if we have someone that could read that as well? 00:11:19.47\00:11:22.28 Okay. 00:11:22.31\00:11:24.41 Here it is, 21 and 22. 00:11:24.45\00:11:26.11 Twenty one and twenty two. 00:11:26.15\00:11:28.25 "Have you not known? 00:11:28.28\00:11:30.49 Have you not heard? 00:11:30.52\00:11:32.22 Has it not been told you from the beginning? 00:11:32.25\00:11:35.26 Have you not understood 00:11:35.29\00:11:37.06 from the foundation of the earth? 00:11:37.09\00:11:39.23 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth." 00:11:39.26\00:11:42.36 There it is. Right. 00:11:42.40\00:11:43.73 "And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, 00:11:43.77\00:11:46.13 who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, 00:11:46.17\00:11:49.74 and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." 00:11:49.77\00:11:53.17 Okay, so again, again, this is Isaiah 00:11:53.21\00:11:55.58 now the prophet who is clearly communicating, 00:11:55.61\00:11:57.68 not from a figurative speech, 00:11:57.71\00:11:59.81 not from a symbolic language, 00:11:59.85\00:12:01.38 but he's simply recounting the creative works of Jesus 00:12:01.42\00:12:05.12 from the beginning of creation. 00:12:05.15\00:12:06.86 And so we see right there, verse 22, 00:12:06.89\00:12:08.69 is that He who sits above the circle of the earth, 00:12:08.72\00:12:11.39 and so, you know, 00:12:11.43\00:12:12.96 it almost would seem and I say this respectfully, 00:12:12.99\00:12:15.96 and I think anybody who knows me 00:12:16.00\00:12:17.33 would understand that. 00:12:17.37\00:12:18.70 It almost seems silly to even have to talk about this 00:12:18.73\00:12:21.27 because again, of all of the multiple evidences 00:12:21.30\00:12:23.71 that we have today that we live on a round, 00:12:23.74\00:12:26.71 circular planet, but again, 00:12:26.74\00:12:28.91 there may be someone watching right now 00:12:28.94\00:12:30.38 that says, "You know what, I'm convinced 00:12:30.41\00:12:31.75 that this earth is flat." 00:12:31.78\00:12:33.18 And we wanna show you from a biblical perspective 00:12:33.21\00:12:35.52 that God did indeed create this earth as a round sphere 00:12:35.55\00:12:39.29 or a circular round object. 00:12:39.32\00:12:42.19 And so additionally, in the closing moments, 00:12:42.22\00:12:43.83 I have considered 00:12:43.86\00:12:45.19 just some of the scientific evidence, 00:12:45.23\00:12:46.90 some of the common sense reasoning 00:12:46.93\00:12:48.56 that we can just say, "Okay, 00:12:48.60\00:12:49.93 we have to be on a round earth." 00:12:49.96\00:12:51.30 For instance, if you go to a harbor, 00:12:51.33\00:12:52.83 and you look and you watch a ship, 00:12:52.87\00:12:54.44 I don't know if you've ever seen this before. 00:12:54.47\00:12:55.80 I've been to many different oceans. 00:12:55.84\00:12:57.37 And if you watch a ship sail out across the ocean, 00:12:57.41\00:13:00.18 You will know that the earth has to be some type of shape 00:13:00.21\00:13:02.88 other than a flat because you'll start to see, 00:13:02.91\00:13:05.61 the ship doesn't just go out of thin air 00:13:05.65\00:13:07.68 it literally it's like almost like it's sinking in the water, 00:13:07.72\00:13:10.29 you start to see it go down, down. 00:13:10.32\00:13:11.65 That's because it's going over the horizon, 00:13:11.69\00:13:13.69 I think of a lunar eclipse. 00:13:13.72\00:13:16.49 A lunar eclipse is probably one of the clearest indications 00:13:16.52\00:13:19.89 that we live on a round planet 00:13:19.93\00:13:21.80 because when a lunar eclipse happens, 00:13:21.83\00:13:24.03 you know, you don't see a flat straight line 00:13:24.07\00:13:27.44 that goes through that moon, right? 00:13:27.47\00:13:29.14 You know, it's because the earth 00:13:29.17\00:13:31.27 is between the sun and the moon, 00:13:31.31\00:13:32.64 so you would have to see the shape of the earth, right? 00:13:32.67\00:13:34.44 It's a circular or round shape 00:13:34.48\00:13:36.75 when you consider a lunar eclipse. 00:13:36.78\00:13:38.68 I consider the time zones and, Pastor, 00:13:38.71\00:13:41.38 we were talking about this earlier, he said, 00:13:41.42\00:13:42.82 "You know, get on a plane." And he's absolutely right. 00:13:42.85\00:13:44.92 If you've ever been 35,000 to 37,000 feet 00:13:44.95\00:13:48.16 in the air on an airplane, 00:13:48.19\00:13:49.52 just cross over a few time zones 00:13:49.56\00:13:51.46 and you can simply when you get that high, 00:13:51.49\00:13:53.19 you will see the curvature of the planet 00:13:53.23\00:13:55.96 and you can clearly see 00:13:56.00\00:13:57.33 that we are living on a round circular planet. 00:13:57.37\00:14:00.04 In the time zones, again, I mentioned, 00:14:00.07\00:14:01.74 the time zones are a clear indication 00:14:01.77\00:14:03.20 because again, 00:14:03.24\00:14:04.57 my mom called me last year when I was in 00:14:04.61\00:14:06.71 or in previous year when I was in Australia. 00:14:06.74\00:14:09.28 It was like 2 o'clock in the morning 00:14:09.31\00:14:10.65 where I was and it was, 00:14:10.68\00:14:12.01 you know, I don't know, several hours in the afternoon. 00:14:12.05\00:14:14.52 How can that be 00:14:14.55\00:14:15.88 if we're living on a flat earth, right? 00:14:15.92\00:14:17.29 So the point is, we can trust the science evidence 00:14:17.32\00:14:21.16 that proves that and we can trust the Bible, 00:14:21.19\00:14:23.56 most of all to know that God got it right 00:14:23.59\00:14:25.76 the first time. 00:14:25.79\00:14:27.13 Amen. 00:14:27.16\00:14:28.50 Thank you so much for that study, Pastor Ryan. 00:14:28.53\00:14:30.47 And, you know, we think flat earth 00:14:30.50\00:14:32.33 the Word of God says round earth, 00:14:32.37\00:14:33.90 but there are so many winds of doctrine blowing. 00:14:33.94\00:14:36.54 There are so many theories out there 00:14:36.57\00:14:39.27 that we need to go back to a thus saith the Lord. 00:14:39.31\00:14:42.04 Thank you for that biblical proof. 00:14:42.08\00:14:43.88 On Monday's lesson, we look at Creation 00:14:43.91\00:14:46.51 in Ancient Literature, and we see today, 00:14:46.55\00:14:49.52 an attack on the Genesis account. 00:14:49.55\00:14:52.25 By that I mean an attack 00:14:52.29\00:14:53.62 on the biblical story of creation 00:14:53.66\00:14:56.12 recorded in the Book of Genesis. 00:14:56.16\00:14:59.13 This is a quote from the lesson, 00:14:59.16\00:15:00.53 we'll start here, it says, 00:15:00.56\00:15:01.93 "Archaeologists have discovered texts 00:15:01.96\00:15:04.53 from ancient Egypt and the Near East 00:15:04.57\00:15:07.70 that contain early histories of the Creation and the Flood." 00:15:07.74\00:15:13.04 So the question arises instantly 00:15:13.07\00:15:15.28 you think, well, that's not an issue. 00:15:15.31\00:15:16.64 There's no big deal with that, but the question comes in, 00:15:16.68\00:15:19.38 was the Genesis account of creation 00:15:19.41\00:15:22.08 borrowed from these pagan sources? 00:15:22.12\00:15:25.55 Is it somehow dependent on them? 00:15:25.59\00:15:28.56 Or is it completely separate and thereby inspired? 00:15:28.59\00:15:31.89 So that's what we're gonna take a look at. 00:15:31.93\00:15:33.36 We're gonna take a look at this discovery 00:15:33.40\00:15:35.86 that archaeologists have made and we will see that in fact, 00:15:35.90\00:15:38.93 they are vastly different, 00:15:38.97\00:15:40.74 and that the creation account in Genesis 00:15:40.77\00:15:43.00 was inspired by God Himself. 00:15:43.04\00:15:45.71 So Atra-Hasis 00:15:45.74\00:15:47.71 is the title of an 18th-century BC 00:15:47.74\00:15:51.98 Akkadian epic, 00:15:52.01\00:15:53.42 recorded in various versions on clay tablets. 00:15:53.45\00:15:55.98 There were three clay tablets that they discovered. 00:15:56.02\00:15:58.62 They're currently cuneiform tablets. 00:15:58.65\00:16:00.92 They're currently now residing in the British Museum. 00:16:00.96\00:16:05.29 Atra- asis was the protagonists of this story. 00:16:05.33\00:16:09.26 And it was written in an extinct East Semitic language 00:16:09.30\00:16:12.90 that was spoken in the ancient world 00:16:12.93\00:16:14.27 that is extinct 00:16:14.30\00:16:15.64 and it's not even used anymore today. 00:16:15.67\00:16:17.77 There were these three tablets. 00:16:17.81\00:16:19.14 The oldest known copy 00:16:19.17\00:16:20.88 can be dated to the reign of Hammurabi's great grandson, 00:16:20.91\00:16:24.75 that would be 1646 to 1626 BC. 00:16:24.78\00:16:28.12 Interesting. 00:16:28.15\00:16:29.48 So there's stories on these three tablets. 00:16:29.52\00:16:31.09 We're gonna look at them briefly so we can see 00:16:31.12\00:16:33.15 the disparity between them and the account in Genesis. 00:16:33.19\00:16:37.23 Tablet I contained the creation myth. 00:16:37.26\00:16:41.66 The Sumerian gods, 00:16:41.70\00:16:43.03 we know they had polytheistic religion 00:16:43.06\00:16:44.67 they had made, they believed in many gods. 00:16:44.70\00:16:47.87 They had three gods, I can't pronounce them, 00:16:47.90\00:16:50.41 but we're just gonna call them Anu, Enlil, and Enki. 00:16:50.44\00:16:54.51 And I'm sure that's not right. 00:16:54.54\00:16:56.24 Anu ruled the sky or so they taught. 00:16:56.28\00:17:00.58 Enlil ruled the earth or so they taught. 00:17:00.62\00:17:03.75 And Enki ruled the fresh water sea. 00:17:03.79\00:17:08.79 Enlil assigned junior divine or junior gods or lesser gods 00:17:08.82\00:17:14.73 to do farm labor 00:17:14.76\00:17:16.10 and maintain the rivers and canals. 00:17:16.13\00:17:18.07 Now this is how the pagan story goes. 00:17:18.10\00:17:21.10 After 40 years, 00:17:21.14\00:17:22.47 these lesser gods rebelled and they said, 00:17:22.50\00:17:24.31 "We're done with work. 00:17:24.34\00:17:25.67 We don't wanna do strenuous labor anymore." 00:17:25.71\00:17:28.31 Instead of punishing them, 00:17:28.34\00:17:30.85 the gods suggested that humans be created to do the work. 00:17:30.88\00:17:35.98 So as the story goes, 00:17:36.02\00:17:38.15 the Mother Goddess 00:17:38.19\00:17:39.62 is assigned the task of creating humans 00:17:39.65\00:17:42.82 by shaping clay figurines, 00:17:42.86\00:17:45.66 mixed with the flesh and blood of a God that they killed. 00:17:45.69\00:17:50.53 All of the gods then spit on the clay 00:17:50.57\00:17:53.60 and after 10 months, 00:17:53.64\00:17:55.27 especially made womb breaks open 00:17:55.30\00:17:58.14 and the humans are born. 00:17:58.17\00:18:01.01 You know, when I read that exactly right, 00:18:01.04\00:18:02.54 and you started to laugh. 00:18:02.58\00:18:03.91 When I read that you think, "Really?" 00:18:03.95\00:18:07.02 So Tablet II contains legends about overpopulation of humans, 00:18:07.05\00:18:11.45 about famine and drought, 00:18:11.49\00:18:12.92 and then a decision that they're going to, 00:18:12.95\00:18:15.16 these gods are going to cause a flood to destroy mankind. 00:18:15.19\00:18:19.43 And Tablet III contains their version of the flood. 00:18:19.46\00:18:24.27 Now the lesson actually quoted from the Atra- asis Epic, 00:18:24.30\00:18:29.90 and this is what it said, "When the gods instead of man, 00:18:29.94\00:18:32.97 did the work, bore the load, the gods' load was too great, 00:18:33.01\00:18:36.98 the work too hard, the trouble too much. 00:18:37.01\00:18:40.72 Let the womb-goddess create offspring, 00:18:40.75\00:18:43.69 and let men bear the load of the gods! 00:18:43.72\00:18:47.89 Geshtu-e, a god who had intelligence, 00:18:47.92\00:18:50.36 they slaughtered in their assembly. 00:18:50.39\00:18:52.49 Nintu mixed clay with his flesh and blood." 00:18:52.53\00:18:55.20 Now that's just not even very pleasant to read. 00:18:55.23\00:18:58.00 So, but if you look at the only similarity I see 00:18:58.03\00:19:01.34 in this account to the creation account 00:19:01.37\00:19:03.41 is that they had clay. 00:19:03.44\00:19:05.11 That's the only similarity I see instead. 00:19:05.14\00:19:08.64 And the first humans obviously 00:19:08.68\00:19:10.75 were made from the dust of the ground 00:19:10.78\00:19:13.21 and they said clay mixed with some other things 00:19:13.25\00:19:15.28 which we won't discuss, 00:19:15.32\00:19:16.65 but there are vast differences in these two accounts. 00:19:16.69\00:19:20.49 And let's look at them. 00:19:20.52\00:19:21.86 The first is, I want to look at God's purpose in creation. 00:19:21.89\00:19:26.63 In Genesis, the biblical account, 00:19:26.66\00:19:29.33 we say that God created the world 00:19:29.36\00:19:31.33 and everything in it for humans, for us to enjoy. 00:19:31.37\00:19:35.94 Humanity was the culmination of His creative work. 00:19:35.97\00:19:40.48 He created light and darkness and plants and animals, 00:19:40.51\00:19:43.95 but humans, man and woman 00:19:43.98\00:19:46.82 was the culmination of that creative work. 00:19:46.85\00:19:50.12 God created the world to show His goodness and His glory. 00:19:50.15\00:19:54.66 We see that in Psalm 19:1, 00:19:54.69\00:19:56.69 "The heavens declare the glory of God, 00:19:56.73\00:19:58.79 and the firmament shows fourth His handiwork." 00:19:58.83\00:20:02.63 We see that also in Psalm 50:6, that Psalm 50:6, 00:20:02.66\00:20:08.90 "Let the heavens declare His righteousness, 00:20:08.94\00:20:11.01 for God Himself is Judge." 00:20:11.04\00:20:14.24 We also see that in Psalm 89:5, 00:20:14.28\00:20:17.41 that Psalm 89:5, 00:20:17.45\00:20:20.05 "And the heavens will praise Your wonders, 00:20:20.08\00:20:22.82 O Lord." 00:20:22.85\00:20:24.82 God wanted us to be His children 00:20:24.85\00:20:27.02 and we are made in His image. 00:20:27.06\00:20:29.49 We studied that in a previous lesson, 00:20:29.52\00:20:31.23 Genesis 1:26. 00:20:31.26\00:20:33.16 He considers us His children 00:20:33.19\00:20:34.53 and we are made in the divine image, 00:20:34.56\00:20:36.60 the image of God. 00:20:36.63\00:20:38.83 1 John 3:1. I love this scripture. 00:20:38.87\00:20:42.30 1 John 3:1, 00:20:42.34\00:20:43.97 "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, 00:20:44.01\00:20:47.84 that we should be called the children of God!" 00:20:47.88\00:20:50.58 You see in this pagan epic Atra- asis, 00:20:50.61\00:20:53.58 humans were created so the gods could rest. 00:20:53.62\00:20:56.32 Man worked for the gods so that they could rest. 00:20:56.35\00:20:58.75 That's the opposite of the God that we serve. 00:20:58.79\00:21:02.46 Our God has self-sacrificing love. 00:21:02.49\00:21:05.83 And He created us because He loves us 00:21:05.86\00:21:08.60 and wants us to be His children. 00:21:08.63\00:21:11.63 By contrast in Genesis, 00:21:11.67\00:21:14.74 we see that God rested with His creation. 00:21:14.77\00:21:18.31 See in this pagan mythology story, 00:21:18.34\00:21:20.88 the lesser they created humans so that they could rest. 00:21:20.91\00:21:24.75 No, God did all this work, 00:21:24.78\00:21:27.32 and then He allowed us to rest with Him on the Sabbath. 00:21:27.35\00:21:30.65 Genesis 2:1-3, 00:21:30.69\00:21:32.62 "Thus the heavens and the earth, 00:21:32.65\00:21:34.76 and all the host of them, were finished. 00:21:34.79\00:21:37.23 And on the seventh day God ended His work 00:21:37.26\00:21:39.79 which He had done, 00:21:39.83\00:21:41.16 and He rested on the seventh day." 00:21:41.20\00:21:43.23 And He blessed and sanctified and hallowed it. 00:21:43.26\00:21:47.17 So the first difference is God's purpose in creation. 00:21:47.20\00:21:49.64 The second difference is God's desire to communicate 00:21:49.67\00:21:53.58 with His creation. 00:21:53.61\00:21:55.44 We see in Genesis that God wanted to communicate 00:21:55.48\00:21:57.81 with His children. 00:21:57.85\00:21:59.18 He wanted to have 00:21:59.21\00:22:00.55 a relationship with His children. 00:22:00.58\00:22:02.68 Genesis 3:8, once sin entered, 00:22:02.72\00:22:06.45 that brought division between God and humanity. 00:22:06.49\00:22:10.79 Remember Genesis 3:8, 00:22:10.83\00:22:12.16 Adam and Eve actually hid from God. 00:22:12.19\00:22:14.20 "They heard the sound of the Lord God 00:22:14.23\00:22:16.33 walking in the garden in the cool of the day, 00:22:16.36\00:22:19.03 Adam and his wife hid themselves 00:22:19.07\00:22:21.30 from the presence of the Lord God 00:22:21.34\00:22:22.67 among the trees of the garden." 00:22:22.70\00:22:24.04 But before sin, 00:22:24.07\00:22:25.41 they had open communion with God. 00:22:25.44\00:22:29.11 By contrast, in this pagan mythology, 00:22:29.14\00:22:32.21 there is no mention of a garden created for humans. 00:22:32.25\00:22:35.52 There is no mention or of the desire for the gods 00:22:35.55\00:22:39.12 to communicate with humans or be in fellowship with them. 00:22:39.15\00:22:42.72 Difference number three, 00:22:42.76\00:22:44.09 is God's desire to create man and woman. 00:22:44.13\00:22:47.66 In Genesis we see God 00:22:47.70\00:22:49.30 physically forming Adam and Eve, 00:22:49.33\00:22:52.13 Adam from the dust of the ground, 00:22:52.17\00:22:54.50 and breathing into Adam's nostril 00:22:54.54\00:22:57.21 God breathed into Adam's nostrils 00:22:57.24\00:22:58.94 the breath of life. 00:22:58.97\00:23:00.54 And Adam became what? 00:23:00.58\00:23:01.91 A living soul. 00:23:01.94\00:23:03.81 We see God causing Adam to go to sleep 00:23:03.85\00:23:06.31 so that then He could create Eve 00:23:06.35\00:23:08.68 from a rib from Adam's side. 00:23:08.72\00:23:10.95 By contrast, in this pagan mythology, 00:23:10.99\00:23:14.16 we see instead, 00:23:14.19\00:23:15.76 a God being killed 00:23:15.79\00:23:17.46 so that they can somehow mix his blood 00:23:17.49\00:23:19.49 with this clay 00:23:19.53\00:23:20.86 that is vastly different 00:23:20.90\00:23:22.60 from the biblical creation account. 00:23:22.63\00:23:25.80 Finally, number four, 00:23:25.83\00:23:27.17 difference we see God's desire 00:23:27.20\00:23:29.10 is to love His creation and to have a world of peace. 00:23:29.14\00:23:32.81 In Genesis, we see His love 00:23:32.84\00:23:34.54 first in creating humankind later after they sin. 00:23:34.58\00:23:38.65 We see God's desire to reconcile them to Himself 00:23:38.68\00:23:42.78 by the promise of sending His Son, Jesus. 00:23:42.82\00:23:46.82 In this pagan mythology, 00:23:46.86\00:23:49.12 there's only conflict and violence. 00:23:49.16\00:23:51.39 In the creation of humans, there's conflict and violence, 00:23:51.43\00:23:54.26 and definitely the gods 00:23:54.30\00:23:55.63 weren't willing to die for the humans. 00:23:55.66\00:23:57.67 So what a difference in that. 00:23:57.70\00:23:59.97 And from there, we can see that Moses did not borrow 00:24:00.00\00:24:03.17 from these pagan stories 00:24:03.20\00:24:04.67 when he wrote the Book of Genesis. 00:24:04.71\00:24:07.31 By contrast, 00:24:07.34\00:24:08.68 all scripture including 00:24:08.71\00:24:10.48 the Genesis account of creation, 00:24:10.51\00:24:12.95 is given by inspiration of God 00:24:12.98\00:24:15.65 and I'm so grateful that it is. 00:24:15.68\00:24:17.59 Praise the Lord. 00:24:17.62\00:24:18.95 You know, as I'm listening to this study, 00:24:18.99\00:24:20.52 my study, your study, 00:24:20.56\00:24:21.89 and I know this is gonna continue on. 00:24:21.92\00:24:23.63 The devil is attacking this. 00:24:23.66\00:24:25.39 He's attacking God's creative work, 00:24:25.43\00:24:26.93 His creative power, 00:24:26.96\00:24:28.30 and just think about it if it's good enough 00:24:28.33\00:24:31.53 to get the devil's time, 00:24:31.57\00:24:33.27 you know, to take his time and efforts 00:24:33.30\00:24:34.80 to try to skew the truth of God's Word 00:24:34.84\00:24:36.87 in relation to creation, then you know what? 00:24:36.91\00:24:39.41 Praise God for the Bible account 00:24:39.44\00:24:40.78 that we have 00:24:40.81\00:24:42.14 because we know God always gets it right 00:24:42.18\00:24:43.61 the first time. 00:24:43.65\00:24:44.98 We're gonna take a short break 00:24:45.01\00:24:46.35 and we'll be back in just a moment. 00:24:46.38\00:24:47.75 Ever wish you could watch 00:24:52.52\00:24:53.86 a 3ABN Sabbath School Panel again, 00:24:53.89\00:24:55.99 or share it on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? Verse 14, Genesis 1:14. 00:26:23.08\00:26:25.41 Okay, got you. 00:26:25.45\00:26:26.78 "Then God said, 'Let there be lights 00:26:26.82\00:26:28.52 in the firmament of the heavens 00:26:28.55\00:26:30.05 to divide the day from the night, 00:26:30.09\00:26:32.02 and let them be for," what? 00:26:32.05\00:26:33.39 Signs. 00:26:33.42\00:26:34.76 "Signs and seasons, and for days and years, 00:26:34.79\00:26:38.36 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens 00:26:38.39\00:26:41.33 to give light on the earth,' and it was so. 00:26:41.36\00:26:44.53 Then God made two great lights, 00:26:44.57\00:26:46.67 the greater light to rule the day, 00:26:46.70\00:26:48.97 and the lesser light to rule the night. 00:26:49.00\00:26:51.77 He made the stars also. 00:26:51.81\00:26:54.08 God set them in the firmament of the heavens 00:26:54.11\00:26:56.75 to give light on the earth, 00:26:56.78\00:26:58.38 and to rule over the day and over the night, 00:26:58.41\00:27:01.25 and to divide the light from the darkness. 00:27:01.28\00:27:03.52 And God saw that it was good. 00:27:03.55\00:27:05.75 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day." 00:27:05.79\00:27:10.96 Let's think about that the lesser light, 00:27:10.99\00:27:13.33 the greater light, the moon the lesser light, 00:27:13.36\00:27:15.66 the sun the greater light, the signs, 00:27:15.70\00:27:18.57 the seasons, the days, the years, 00:27:18.60\00:27:21.10 God established all these illuminated bodies 00:27:21.14\00:27:24.47 to establish a cadence. 00:27:24.51\00:27:26.51 And the heavens have been 00:27:26.54\00:27:27.88 so beautifully orchestrated by God, 00:27:27.91\00:27:29.94 you know, I have a program 00:27:29.98\00:27:31.31 that it's about looking into the heavens, 00:27:31.35\00:27:33.75 I'm an amateur, amateur, amateur astronomer. 00:27:33.78\00:27:37.62 So amateur, I don't have a telescope. 00:27:37.65\00:27:40.12 I do it all on my iPad. 00:27:40.16\00:27:42.29 Well, that's an affliction, but when you think about it, 00:27:42.32\00:27:46.09 we can program literally by telescopes, 00:27:46.13\00:27:48.86 my wife and I intend to do that. 00:27:48.90\00:27:50.90 Well, we can program in coordinates, 00:27:50.93\00:27:53.84 and it will point to stars 00:27:53.87\00:27:55.90 and bodies that have never moved. 00:27:55.94\00:27:58.81 How does that happen? 00:27:58.84\00:28:00.18 Coincidentally? No, providentially. 00:28:00.21\00:28:02.54 What I wanna do with you on my remaining time 00:28:02.58\00:28:04.41 is share with you from the perspective of people 00:28:04.45\00:28:07.52 that are not necessarily Christians 00:28:07.55\00:28:10.22 as to how they know 00:28:10.25\00:28:11.92 that the creation of the earth and the world 00:28:11.95\00:28:14.59 is the part of the divine designer. 00:28:14.62\00:28:17.06 Let's begin reasons to believe 00:28:17.09\00:28:19.13 in the existence of God and His Word, 00:28:19.16\00:28:21.40 and the complexity of creation. 00:28:21.43\00:28:24.57 The complexity of our planet, 00:28:24.60\00:28:25.93 I'm reading and you just follow 00:28:25.97\00:28:27.80 is connected to a deliberate designer, 00:28:27.84\00:28:30.61 who not only created the universe, 00:28:30.64\00:28:33.38 but also sustains it. 00:28:33.41\00:28:35.64 Let's talk about the size of the earth and by the way, 00:28:35.68\00:28:37.81 the earth is not round, it's spherical or ellipsoidal. 00:28:37.85\00:28:42.28 It's spherical, rather than just round. 00:28:42.32\00:28:45.99 The earth, and its perfect size. 00:28:46.02\00:28:48.92 According to one scientist, 00:28:48.96\00:28:50.39 the earth size and corresponding gravity 00:28:50.43\00:28:53.73 holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen 00:28:53.76\00:28:57.63 and oxygen gases only extending about 50 miles 00:28:57.67\00:29:02.34 above the earth's surface. 00:29:02.37\00:29:04.04 Let's see if that's coincidental. 00:29:04.07\00:29:05.41 Let's see what they said. 00:29:05.44\00:29:06.78 If earth was smaller like the planet Mercury, 00:29:06.81\00:29:09.64 an atmosphere would be impossible. 00:29:09.68\00:29:11.71 If earth were larger like Jupiter, 00:29:11.75\00:29:13.52 its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen. 00:29:13.55\00:29:17.35 Earth is the only known planet 00:29:17.39\00:29:19.45 equipped with an atmosphere of the right mixture of gases 00:29:19.49\00:29:23.46 to sustain plant, animal, and human life. 00:29:23.49\00:29:27.06 And the question is, where did it come from? 00:29:27.10\00:29:28.93 In the beginning, God, come on, can we say amen? 00:29:28.96\00:29:30.80 Amen. Amen. 00:29:30.83\00:29:32.17 What about water? Water and its necessity. 00:29:32.20\00:29:34.80 Water is colorless, odorless, and without taste, 00:29:34.84\00:29:37.74 and yet no living thing can survive without it. 00:29:37.77\00:29:40.74 Plants, animals, human beings, consist mostly of water. 00:29:40.78\00:29:44.88 About two thirds of the human body is water, 00:29:44.91\00:29:48.05 who designed that? 00:29:48.08\00:29:49.42 God. Only God. 00:29:49.45\00:29:50.79 Water is a temperature regulator. 00:29:50.82\00:29:53.32 Water is a universal solvent. 00:29:53.36\00:29:56.16 Water is also chemically neutral 00:29:56.19\00:29:59.06 without affecting the makeup of the substances it carry. 00:29:59.09\00:30:02.83 Water enables food, medicine, 00:30:02.86\00:30:06.30 and minerals to be absorbed and used by the body. 00:30:06.33\00:30:09.30 Who else can create that, but God? 00:30:09.34\00:30:12.31 Water has a unique surface tension. 00:30:12.34\00:30:14.84 Water in plants can therefore flow 00:30:14.88\00:30:17.91 upward against gravity. 00:30:17.95\00:30:20.38 Who can do that, but God? 00:30:20.42\00:30:21.85 Bringing life giving water 00:30:21.88\00:30:23.65 and nutrients to the top of even the tallest trees. 00:30:23.69\00:30:27.22 If you go to the Avenue of the Giants in California, 00:30:27.26\00:30:29.66 they say the amount of water 00:30:29.69\00:30:31.03 that those trees absorb in one day, 00:30:31.06\00:30:33.29 God put that water in the atmosphere. 00:30:33.33\00:30:36.97 Who else can do that but God? 00:30:37.00\00:30:38.57 Also water is transformative. 00:30:38.60\00:30:41.17 Ninety-seven percent of the earth's water 00:30:41.20\00:30:43.77 is in the oceans, 00:30:43.81\00:30:45.14 but on our earth there is a system designed 00:30:45.17\00:30:48.41 which removes salt from the water, 00:30:48.44\00:30:50.65 and then distributes that water 00:30:50.68\00:30:52.71 throughout the globe. 00:30:52.75\00:30:54.72 Evaporation takes the ocean waters 00:30:54.75\00:30:56.62 leaving the salt 00:30:56.65\00:30:57.99 and forms clouds 00:30:58.02\00:30:59.35 which are easily moved by the wind 00:30:59.39\00:31:01.09 to disperse water over the land for vegetation, 00:31:01.12\00:31:04.09 animals and people. 00:31:04.13\00:31:05.46 Who can design 00:31:05.49\00:31:06.83 such a complex system of sustenance? 00:31:06.86\00:31:08.20 God. 00:31:08.23\00:31:09.56 Now let's think about the human brain. 00:31:09.60\00:31:11.17 The human brain simultaneously processes 00:31:11.20\00:31:14.17 an amazing amount of information, 00:31:14.20\00:31:16.71 "The human brain processes 00:31:16.74\00:31:18.11 more than a million messages a second, 00:31:18.14\00:31:20.41 your brain waves the importance of all its data, 00:31:20.44\00:31:24.05 filtering out the relatively unimportant." 00:31:24.08\00:31:27.08 So 10 years from now, you might say, 00:31:27.12\00:31:29.08 "I remember seeing that." 00:31:29.12\00:31:30.49 And you just saw it as you were driving by 00:31:30.52\00:31:32.25 on a sign somewhere. 00:31:32.29\00:31:33.62 That's how amazing the brain is. 00:31:33.66\00:31:35.59 What about the human eye? 00:31:35.62\00:31:37.29 The human eye distinguishes 7 million colors. 00:31:37.33\00:31:42.26 It has automatic focusing, camera people, 00:31:42.30\00:31:45.70 and handles an astounding 1.5 million messages 00:31:45.73\00:31:49.24 simultaneously. 00:31:49.27\00:31:51.07 Who can do that, but God? 00:31:51.11\00:31:53.07 Astrophysicist Robert Jastrow said these words, 00:31:53.11\00:31:56.61 "The seed of everything 00:31:56.64\00:31:58.31 that has happened in the universe 00:31:58.35\00:32:00.15 was planted in that first instant, 00:32:00.18\00:32:02.58 every star, every planet 00:32:02.62\00:32:04.29 and every living creature in the universe 00:32:04.32\00:32:06.19 came into being as a result of events 00:32:06.22\00:32:09.16 that were set in motion 00:32:09.19\00:32:10.93 in the moments of the cosmic explosion." 00:32:10.96\00:32:14.70 Bang! God said it and it happened. 00:32:14.73\00:32:16.56 Okay. 00:32:16.60\00:32:17.93 "The universe flashed into being. 00:32:17.97\00:32:20.14 And an Astrophysicist Robert Jastrow says, 00:32:20.17\00:32:23.00 "And we cannot find out what caused that to happen." 00:32:23.04\00:32:27.51 In the beginning God, come on... 00:32:27.54\00:32:29.04 That's right. 00:32:29.08\00:32:30.41 The universe operates by uniform laws of nature, 00:32:30.45\00:32:33.21 he continues, "It is atomically accurate. 00:32:33.25\00:32:38.15 The greatest scientists have been struck 00:32:38.19\00:32:41.09 by how strange this is. 00:32:41.12\00:32:43.06 There is no logical necessity for a universe 00:32:43.09\00:32:46.19 that obeys rules, 00:32:46.23\00:32:47.56 let alone one that abides by the rules of mathematics." 00:32:47.60\00:32:51.80 Astrophysicists says, "How?" 00:32:51.83\00:32:53.67 In the beginning, come on God. 00:32:53.70\00:32:56.00 Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize winner said, 00:32:56.04\00:32:59.27 "For quantum electrodynamics 00:32:59.31\00:33:02.74 he said why nature is mathematical 00:33:02.78\00:33:05.71 is a mystery. 00:33:05.75\00:33:07.08 The fact that there are rules at all 00:33:07.12\00:33:09.45 is a kind of miracle." 00:33:09.48\00:33:11.52 In the beginning, God. 00:33:11.55\00:33:13.69 Let's look at one other thing, the DNA code. 00:33:13.72\00:33:16.36 How God puts in the DNA code all the information necessary. 00:33:16.39\00:33:20.36 So pagans have no answer for any of these, 00:33:20.40\00:33:25.13 what they might call anomalies 00:33:25.17\00:33:27.50 which we call simply divine designs. 00:33:27.54\00:33:30.77 All instruction and teaching and all training 00:33:30.81\00:33:33.48 comes with intent. 00:33:33.51\00:33:35.21 Someone who writes an instruction manual 00:33:35.24\00:33:37.21 does so with purpose. 00:33:37.25\00:33:38.65 In every cell of our bodies, there is existing, 00:33:38.68\00:33:41.78 a very detailed instruction book, 00:33:41.82\00:33:44.69 much like a miniature computer program, 00:33:44.72\00:33:47.76 and get this in every single cell 00:33:47.79\00:33:50.06 there is a miniature computer program. 00:33:50.09\00:33:53.83 Finally, let me give you the most powerful testament 00:33:53.86\00:33:56.13 about how God's creation is not an accident. 00:33:56.16\00:34:00.20 A former atheist by the name of Marilyn Adamson, 00:34:00.24\00:34:03.71 she said, 00:34:03.74\00:34:05.07 "I found it difficult to refute 00:34:05.11\00:34:06.51 the continuously answered prayers 00:34:06.54\00:34:09.34 and quality of life of a close friend. 00:34:09.38\00:34:11.95 In challenging the beliefs of her friend, 00:34:11.98\00:34:13.75 Marilyn was amazed to learn the wealth 00:34:13.78\00:34:16.28 of objective evidence 00:34:16.32\00:34:17.69 pointing to the existence of God. 00:34:17.72\00:34:22.09 After about a year of persistent questioning, 00:34:22.12\00:34:24.83 she responded to God's offer to come into her life 00:34:24.86\00:34:28.50 and has found faith in Him to be constantly substantiated 00:34:28.53\00:34:33.20 and greatly rewarding." 00:34:33.23\00:34:34.80 A former atheist now believes in God, 00:34:34.84\00:34:37.04 but here's what she said. 00:34:37.07\00:34:38.74 "I was an atheist at one time. 00:34:38.77\00:34:41.24 And like many atheists, 00:34:41.28\00:34:42.61 the issue of people believing in God 00:34:42.64\00:34:44.15 bothered me greatly. 00:34:44.18\00:34:45.68 What is it about atheists 00:34:45.71\00:34:48.85 that we would spend so much time, 00:34:48.88\00:34:51.19 attention, and energy refuting something 00:34:51.22\00:34:54.52 that we don't believe even exists?" 00:34:54.56\00:34:58.29 Here's the answer. The Bible makes it very Clear. 00:34:58.33\00:35:00.80 Job 38:4-5. 00:35:00.83\00:35:03.87 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? 00:35:03.90\00:35:07.17 Tell Me, if you have understanding. 00:35:07.20\00:35:09.87 Who determined its measurements? 00:35:09.90\00:35:11.77 Surely you know! 00:35:11.81\00:35:13.41 Or who stretched the line upon it?" 00:35:13.44\00:35:16.24 Friends, no coincidence. 00:35:16.28\00:35:18.41 "The heavens declare the glory of God, 00:35:18.45\00:35:21.05 the firmament shows His handiwork. 00:35:21.08\00:35:23.72 Day unto day utters speech, 00:35:23.75\00:35:25.52 and night unto night reveals knowledge. 00:35:25.55\00:35:27.59 There is no speech nor language 00:35:27.62\00:35:29.59 where their voice is not heard." 00:35:29.62\00:35:31.36 Psalm 19:1-3. 00:35:31.39\00:35:33.50 Pastor Dinzey. 00:35:33.53\00:35:34.86 Nice. Amen. 00:35:34.90\00:35:36.23 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:35:36.26\00:35:37.73 Praise God. 00:35:37.77\00:35:39.10 The scriptures are a sure foundation. 00:35:39.13\00:35:41.00 Praise God for that. 00:35:41.04\00:35:42.37 Well, my part is Creation and Time. 00:35:42.40\00:35:45.87 And as we continue in this study, 00:35:45.91\00:35:48.28 I have the part where some people 00:35:48.31\00:35:50.41 they begin to study the Bible they get to the genealogies. 00:35:50.45\00:35:52.58 They say, "Oh, no, the genealogies." 00:35:52.61\00:35:55.62 But the genealogies are there for a purpose 00:35:55.65\00:35:58.05 and they establish time. 00:35:58.09\00:36:01.36 And so let's go through the suggested scriptures 00:36:01.39\00:36:05.29 that are here in the lesson. 00:36:05.33\00:36:07.90 They pointed out to Genesis Chapter 5. 00:36:07.93\00:36:10.80 And in Genesis Chapter 5, 00:36:10.83\00:36:13.80 we really can't read the whole thing 00:36:13.84\00:36:15.37 because of lack of time. 00:36:15.40\00:36:16.77 I'm gonna read a few verses to establish something, 00:36:16.81\00:36:19.14 and then I'm gonna have to skip some verses 00:36:19.17\00:36:22.04 because of lack of time, 00:36:22.08\00:36:23.71 but to establish the genealogy of time 00:36:23.75\00:36:26.28 that it's brought out here. 00:36:26.31\00:36:28.48 In Genesis 5:1, we began verse 1, 00:36:28.52\00:36:33.09 "This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. 00:36:33.12\00:36:36.16 In the day that God created man, 00:36:36.19\00:36:38.36 He made him in the likeness of God. 00:36:38.39\00:36:40.73 He created them male and female, 00:36:40.76\00:36:42.43 and blessed them and called them 00:36:42.46\00:36:43.97 Mankind in the day they were created. 00:36:44.00\00:36:46.63 And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, 00:36:46.67\00:36:49.47 and begot a son in his likeness, 00:36:49.50\00:36:51.51 after his image, and named him Seth." 00:36:51.54\00:36:54.58 Notice where it picks up. 00:36:54.61\00:36:55.94 He doesn't mention Cain and Abel. 00:36:55.98\00:36:58.58 "After he begot Seth, 00:36:58.61\00:36:59.95 the days of Adam were eight hundred years, 00:36:59.98\00:37:01.95 and he had sons and daughters. 00:37:01.98\00:37:03.65 So all the days that Adam lived 00:37:03.69\00:37:06.29 were nine hundred and thirty years, 00:37:06.32\00:37:07.96 and he died. 00:37:07.99\00:37:09.32 Seth lived one hundred and five years, 00:37:09.36\00:37:11.49 and begot Enosh. 00:37:11.53\00:37:13.06 After he begot Enosh, 00:37:13.09\00:37:14.83 Seth lived eight hundred and seven years, 00:37:14.86\00:37:17.03 and he had sons and daughters." 00:37:17.07\00:37:19.63 Okay. It continues. 00:37:19.67\00:37:22.17 I'm gonna now go to verse 28 00:37:22.20\00:37:25.14 because it brings you 00:37:25.17\00:37:26.64 to the end of the genealogy time here. 00:37:26.68\00:37:29.61 Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, 00:37:29.64\00:37:32.65 and had a son. 00:37:32.68\00:37:34.02 And he called his name Noah, saying, 00:37:34.05\00:37:35.62 'This one will comfort us concerning our work 00:37:35.65\00:37:38.65 and the toil of our hands, 00:37:38.69\00:37:40.42 because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.' 00:37:40.46\00:37:44.06 After he begot Noah, 00:37:44.09\00:37:45.49 Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years, 00:37:45.53\00:37:48.53 and had sons and daughters. 00:37:48.56\00:37:50.20 So all the days of Lamech 00:37:50.23\00:37:51.80 were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, 00:37:51.83\00:37:54.24 and he died. 00:37:54.27\00:37:55.60 And no was five hundred years old, 00:37:55.64\00:37:58.17 and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth." 00:37:58.21\00:38:03.04 And I like to focus on Shem at this moment 00:38:03.08\00:38:06.01 because we're gonna pick up with him later on. 00:38:06.05\00:38:08.48 So we have here, a description, a genealogy, 00:38:08.52\00:38:12.59 and years and the years of so and so lives, 00:38:12.62\00:38:17.03 and so many years and so many years 00:38:17.06\00:38:18.39 and begot sons and daughters. 00:38:18.43\00:38:19.76 This establishes beginning points 00:38:19.79\00:38:22.86 where you can calculate and some have done so, 00:38:22.90\00:38:25.70 some of you may remember the astrochronology.. 00:38:25.73\00:38:28.94 And they account for about 4,000 years 00:38:28.97\00:38:32.67 the first part 00:38:32.71\00:38:34.18 and so when you look at these genealogies, 00:38:34.21\00:38:38.21 you have a record of time that helps us understand 00:38:38.25\00:38:41.58 that this world is not 00:38:41.62\00:38:43.32 hundreds of thousands of years old. 00:38:43.35\00:38:46.69 It is but a few thousand years old, 00:38:46.72\00:38:48.62 and it's more close to, 00:38:48.66\00:38:51.29 we lived around 6,000 years, not us lived, 00:38:51.33\00:38:54.03 but mankind has lived, human, the word now is humankind. 00:38:54.06\00:38:58.80 You probably saw that introduced 00:38:58.83\00:39:00.74 a few years ago. 00:39:00.77\00:39:02.30 But anyway, 00:39:02.34\00:39:03.67 let's continue in Genesis Chapter 11. 00:39:03.71\00:39:05.84 In Genesis Chapter 11, 00:39:05.87\00:39:07.21 there's another genealogy and there's a reason 00:39:07.24\00:39:09.41 why we're going through this. 00:39:09.44\00:39:11.01 In Genesis 11:1-9, 10, 00:39:11.05\00:39:14.62 talk to you about the Tower of Babel 00:39:14.65\00:39:16.28 and their attempt 00:39:16.32\00:39:17.65 to build a tower to escape another flood. 00:39:17.69\00:39:21.16 Not believing what God has said 00:39:21.19\00:39:22.89 that He will not destroy the earth with a flood again. 00:39:22.92\00:39:26.19 Let's begin in Genesis 11:10, 00:39:26.23\00:39:29.56 "This is the genealogy of Shem." 00:39:29.60\00:39:33.13 Noah's son. 00:39:33.17\00:39:34.50 "Shem was one hundred years old 00:39:34.54\00:39:36.34 and begot Arphaxad two years after the flood. 00:39:36.37\00:39:40.24 After he begot Arphaxad, Shem lived five hundred years, 00:39:40.28\00:39:44.05 and begot sons and daughters. 00:39:44.08\00:39:45.81 Arphaxad lived thirty-five years, 00:39:45.85\00:39:47.68 and begot Salah. 00:39:47.72\00:39:49.22 After he begot Salah, 00:39:49.25\00:39:50.69 Arphaxad lived four hundred and three years, 00:39:50.72\00:39:53.86 and begot sons and daughters. 00:39:53.89\00:39:55.66 Salah lived thirty years, and begot Eber. 00:39:55.69\00:39:58.39 After he begot Eber, 00:39:58.43\00:39:59.76 Salah lived four hundred and three years, 00:39:59.79\00:40:01.50 and begot sons and daughters." 00:40:01.53\00:40:02.90 And you can continue reading, 00:40:02.93\00:40:04.57 establishing a chronology 00:40:04.60\00:40:07.34 of people that lived so many years and continues. 00:40:07.37\00:40:10.47 So you can calculate these years. 00:40:10.51\00:40:12.61 I think even Doug Batchelor has done this, 00:40:12.64\00:40:14.31 at one point, he said. 00:40:14.34\00:40:16.48 Let's move now to verse 26 00:40:16.51\00:40:21.38 to pick up another person that is well-known. 00:40:21.42\00:40:24.25 "Now Terah lived seventy years, and begot Abram, Nahor, 00:40:24.29\00:40:29.06 and Haran. 00:40:29.09\00:40:30.53 This is the genealogy of Terah. 00:40:30.56\00:40:32.09 Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. 00:40:32.13\00:40:35.66 Haran begot Lot." 00:40:35.70\00:40:37.30 So Abram, is the person well-known. 00:40:37.33\00:40:40.20 And so when you get to Matthew Chapter 10, 00:40:40.24\00:40:42.40 you see that it picks up from Abram, 00:40:42.44\00:40:44.77 and talking to you about the genealogy of Jesus. 00:40:44.81\00:40:49.11 "There's one element 00:40:49.14\00:40:50.48 that makes these genealogies unique 00:40:50.51\00:40:52.18 in the Bible," the lesson brings out, 00:40:52.21\00:40:54.08 "they contain the element of time, 00:40:54.12\00:40:57.12 causing some scholars to correctly call them 00:40:57.15\00:40:59.42 'chronogenealogies.' 00:40:59.45\00:41:01.96 They contain an interlocking mechanism 00:41:01.99\00:41:04.16 of descent information coupled with spans of time, 00:41:04.19\00:41:08.13 so that 'when Person 1 had lived x years, 00:41:08.16\00:41:11.47 he fathered Person 2. 00:41:11.50\00:41:12.83 And Person 1, 00:41:12.87\00:41:14.20 after he begot Person 2 lived y years, 00:41:14.24\00:41:16.77 and he fathered other sons and daughters.' 00:41:16.81\00:41:19.17 And so Genesis 5 adds the formula phrase, 00:41:19.21\00:41:22.31 'And all the days of Person 1 were z years.'" 00:41:22.34\00:41:26.35 This is an interlocking system 00:41:26.38\00:41:29.02 that makes helps us understand the chronology of time. 00:41:29.05\00:41:35.06 If you want a more complete genealogy of people, 00:41:35.09\00:41:40.60 then other than you see in Genesis Chapter 5 00:41:40.63\00:41:42.93 and Genesis Chapter 11, 00:41:42.96\00:41:44.30 you can go to 1 Chronicles 1:1 and onward. 00:41:44.33\00:41:50.27 The problem is that some people over the last few decades 00:41:50.31\00:41:54.54 have tried to look at Genesis Chapter 5 00:41:54.58\00:41:57.18 and Genesis Chapter 11, and said, 00:41:57.21\00:41:59.28 "Oh no, there must be longer periods of time here." 00:41:59.31\00:42:02.85 And even in creation, some people have said, 00:42:02.88\00:42:05.22 "Actually, I have a book in a box now, 00:42:05.25\00:42:07.89 not in my library." 00:42:07.92\00:42:09.26 It's in a box, 00:42:09.29\00:42:10.63 where some Christian group 00:42:10.66\00:42:12.46 trying to adapt to the scientific discoveries 00:42:12.49\00:42:16.23 or the so called scientific knowledge 00:42:16.26\00:42:17.80 at that time, 00:42:17.83\00:42:19.17 they came to the conclusion in error 00:42:19.20\00:42:22.70 that each day of creation was 7,000 years long. 00:42:22.74\00:42:29.24 Of course, what happens when you have the evening, 00:42:29.28\00:42:32.61 you have 3,500 years of darkness, 00:42:32.65\00:42:37.69 and then you have 3,500 years of light. 00:42:37.72\00:42:40.99 Animals and plants cannot survive 00:42:41.02\00:42:43.12 under those conditions. 00:42:43.16\00:42:44.49 So these are people trying to adapt 00:42:44.53\00:42:46.59 to science a great mistake. 00:42:46.63\00:42:49.33 You don't adapt the, 00:42:49.36\00:42:51.00 your understanding of the Bible, 00:42:51.03\00:42:52.37 but what science says, 00:42:52.40\00:42:54.20 science has to adapt to what the Bible says 00:42:54.24\00:42:56.57 because here is your true knowledge and wisdom. 00:42:56.60\00:43:00.58 I'd like to bring this quote to you 00:43:00.61\00:43:03.68 from Patriarchs and Prophets, page 113. 00:43:03.71\00:43:06.08 If you have not read this book, I encourage you to read it. 00:43:06.11\00:43:08.62 Notice, "Those who leave the Word of God, 00:43:08.65\00:43:11.59 and seek to account for His created works 00:43:11.62\00:43:14.39 upon scientific principles, 00:43:14.42\00:43:16.66 are drifting without a chart or compass 00:43:16.69\00:43:19.56 upon an unknown ocean. 00:43:19.59\00:43:21.70 The greatest minds, 00:43:21.73\00:43:23.06 if not guided by the Word of God 00:43:23.10\00:43:24.60 in their research, 00:43:24.63\00:43:25.97 become bewildered in their attempts 00:43:26.00\00:43:28.14 to trace the relations of science and Revelation. 00:43:28.17\00:43:32.27 Because the Creator and His works 00:43:32.31\00:43:34.24 are so far beyond their comprehension 00:43:34.28\00:43:37.21 that they are unable to explain them by natural laws, 00:43:37.25\00:43:40.45 they regard Bible history as unreliable, " 00:43:40.48\00:43:43.39 a great mistake. 00:43:43.42\00:43:45.22 "Those who doubt the reliability of the records 00:43:45.25\00:43:48.16 of the Old and New Testaments, 00:43:48.19\00:43:49.56 will be led to go a step further, 00:43:49.59\00:43:52.86 and doubt the existence of God, 00:43:52.89\00:43:55.33 and then having lost their anchor, 00:43:55.36\00:43:57.10 they are left to beat 00:43:57.13\00:43:58.47 about upon the rocks of infidelity." 00:43:58.50\00:44:01.67 Great mistake. 00:44:01.70\00:44:03.07 So I encourage you to consider the Bible record 00:44:03.10\00:44:06.27 as a reliable record of history 00:44:06.31\00:44:09.91 that helps us understand that this world has not existed 00:44:09.94\00:44:12.68 for millions and millions of years. 00:44:12.71\00:44:15.28 In fact, I even heard one individual in a lecture say 00:44:15.32\00:44:19.49 that makes sense to me. 00:44:19.52\00:44:20.86 He says, "The amount of people upon the earth 00:44:20.89\00:44:24.39 accounts for a few thousand years." 00:44:24.43\00:44:27.36 Not hundreds of thousands of millions of years, 00:44:27.40\00:44:29.66 the amount the population, 00:44:29.70\00:44:31.30 he says, even taking into account wars, 00:44:31.33\00:44:35.24 and these diseases, they wiped out 00:44:35.27\00:44:37.04 hundreds and thousands, 00:44:37.07\00:44:38.51 the amount of people 00:44:38.54\00:44:40.71 account for a few thousand years 00:44:40.74\00:44:42.58 of the earth and people existing upon it. 00:44:42.61\00:44:45.51 And actually, he had a picture he says, 00:44:45.55\00:44:47.98 if we were to take 00:44:48.02\00:44:50.59 some of these thousands and thousands 00:44:50.62\00:44:52.09 or hundreds of thousands of years, 00:44:52.12\00:44:53.72 I mean, you'd be standing next to people you can even, 00:44:53.76\00:44:56.66 you can even lay down 00:44:56.69\00:44:58.53 because there's one commandment people 00:44:58.56\00:45:00.40 have obeyed 00:45:00.43\00:45:01.76 and that's the ones be fruitful and multiply. 00:45:01.80\00:45:04.97 And so, the amount of people today 00:45:05.00\00:45:07.87 accounts for a few thousand years 00:45:07.90\00:45:10.14 of the earth existing upon the earth. 00:45:10.17\00:45:14.18 I wish I had more time to talk to you 00:45:14.21\00:45:15.54 about the genealogy of Jesus, 00:45:15.58\00:45:16.95 if you wanna look at the genealogy of Jesus 00:45:16.98\00:45:18.85 in Luke Chapter 3 is very interesting. 00:45:18.88\00:45:21.32 It starts from Joseph being the Father of Jesus 00:45:21.35\00:45:26.59 through Mary and Joseph, through the Holy Spirit, 00:45:26.62\00:45:29.26 but it goes backwards and it says, 00:45:29.29\00:45:31.76 and Adam, the Son of God, powerful. 00:45:31.79\00:45:37.17 So the Bible is reliable. Amen. 00:45:37.20\00:45:40.20 Praise the Lord. All right, good job. 00:45:40.24\00:45:41.87 Heavy difficult subject, isn't it? 00:45:41.90\00:45:43.44 But you made it plain, it was good. 00:45:43.47\00:45:45.47 Thank you so very much. I have Thursday's lesson. 00:45:45.51\00:45:48.14 And it's called Creation in Scripture. 00:45:48.18\00:45:50.61 And if you have your lesson book, 00:45:50.65\00:45:52.51 and you look down through there, 00:45:52.55\00:45:53.88 it starts out and just starts 00:45:53.92\00:45:55.25 giving you a bunch of passages of Scripture. 00:45:55.28\00:45:56.62 So we're gonna follow that plan 00:45:56.65\00:45:58.09 and look at the lot of the passage 00:45:58.12\00:45:59.52 of scripture, look up. 00:45:59.55\00:46:00.89 And it starts with the earlier question. 00:46:00.92\00:46:02.69 Notice, says, 00:46:02.72\00:46:04.06 "Read the following scriptural passages 00:46:04.09\00:46:06.09 and write down how each of these writers 00:46:06.13\00:46:08.86 referred note to Genesis 1-11." 00:46:08.90\00:46:12.43 And so again, Creation in Scripture, 00:46:16.30\00:46:17.91 I think it just follows everything 00:46:17.94\00:46:19.27 that we've been studying since the beginning, 00:46:19.31\00:46:21.04 at least, lesson number one, 00:46:21.08\00:46:23.45 you know, New Testament writers built 00:46:23.48\00:46:25.21 on a foundational, the nature of Genesis. 00:46:25.25\00:46:28.52 So we realized, 00:46:28.55\00:46:29.88 we have been building, we've been gonna, 00:46:29.92\00:46:31.25 everything went back, we've all, I think, 00:46:31.29\00:46:32.62 referred back to Genesis Chapter 1. 00:46:32.65\00:46:35.56 In the beginning, God, 00:46:35.59\00:46:37.56 and that's exactly the way that it should be, 00:46:37.59\00:46:40.13 at least in my opinion, 00:46:40.16\00:46:41.50 goes right back to God in the beginning. 00:46:41.53\00:46:43.90 Now to show the modern reader 00:46:43.93\00:46:45.27 the significance of the literal event. 00:46:45.30\00:46:48.20 Paul in Romans Chapter 5, 00:46:48.24\00:46:50.57 he makes a link from Adam to Jesus. 00:46:50.61\00:46:53.78 So we're linking up here a little bit 00:46:53.81\00:46:55.14 before we read those passages. 00:46:55.18\00:46:56.51 And notice there are at least six times he does this. 00:46:56.54\00:46:59.05 There must be some significance to that. 00:46:59.08\00:47:01.68 Romans 5:12, 14-19. 00:47:01.72\00:47:05.85 Romans 5:12, 14-19 just jot them down, 00:47:05.89\00:47:08.36 we're not gonna read them all. 00:47:08.39\00:47:09.72 It simply says, 00:47:09.76\00:47:11.09 Paul assures the literal existence of man. 00:47:11.13\00:47:13.83 So in these passages, 00:47:13.86\00:47:15.23 there's a surety based upon the Word of God. 00:47:15.26\00:47:18.00 But if you notice this, 00:47:18.03\00:47:19.37 but if the evolution theory is believed, 00:47:19.40\00:47:23.00 how things that means how things began, 00:47:23.04\00:47:24.87 the literal reading of the text is compromised. 00:47:24.91\00:47:28.74 So we have to go right back and read it the way 00:47:28.78\00:47:30.45 God put it in His Word. 00:47:30.48\00:47:32.08 Notice the link, if you will, between Adam, 00:47:32.11\00:47:35.32 and between Jesus. 00:47:35.35\00:47:36.99 Let's read just a couple of passages. 00:47:37.02\00:47:38.69 I think this verse had been read, 00:47:38.72\00:47:40.06 I don't know how many times since we began the lessons, 00:47:40.09\00:47:42.22 but I don't think it hurts to read it again, 00:47:42.26\00:47:44.16 if it's all right. 00:47:44.19\00:47:45.53 In Romans 5:12. 00:47:45.56\00:47:48.20 Romans 5:12, the Bible says, "Wherefore, as by," what? 00:47:48.23\00:47:53.44 "One man sin entered into the world, " 00:47:53.47\00:47:56.04 and we'll skip down the bottom, 00:47:56.07\00:47:57.57 "and by death," what? 00:47:57.61\00:47:59.54 "And death by sin." 00:47:59.57\00:48:01.68 Romans 5:14 says, 00:48:01.71\00:48:03.24 "After the similitude of Adam's transgression, 00:48:03.28\00:48:06.48 who is in the figure of him that was to come." 00:48:06.51\00:48:10.69 Romans 5:15. 00:48:10.72\00:48:13.52 "If through the offense of one many be dead," 00:48:13.56\00:48:16.79 notice this, "but the gift of grace, 00:48:16.83\00:48:19.63 which is by one man, Jesus Christ, 00:48:19.66\00:48:22.76 hath abounded unto many." 00:48:22.80\00:48:24.83 That's just a powerful kind of condensing it down, 00:48:24.87\00:48:26.74 but that's just powerful scripture 00:48:26.77\00:48:28.97 that God would have us to feed on. 00:48:29.00\00:48:31.27 We need to be feeding 00:48:31.31\00:48:32.64 on these positive powerful passages of Scripture 00:48:32.67\00:48:35.71 that gives us hope in a world 00:48:35.74\00:48:37.68 that is all messed up, all torn up. 00:48:37.71\00:48:41.42 And God has delegated people, He's chosen people to what? 00:48:41.45\00:48:46.22 Give a special message to this world 00:48:46.25\00:48:49.09 to give hope and give encouragement 00:48:49.12\00:48:50.86 to His coming and I like it 00:48:50.89\00:48:52.23 because it's mentioned in Revelation 14, 00:48:52.26\00:48:54.56 three angels' message. 00:48:54.60\00:48:55.93 So just remember, 00:48:55.96\00:48:57.30 as we're talking about that the New Testament writers 00:48:57.33\00:48:59.27 we know inspired by the Holy Spirit 00:48:59.30\00:49:01.70 of the Living God, 00:49:01.74\00:49:03.17 that just helps to make it clear, 00:49:03.20\00:49:04.54 then just settle your mind. 00:49:04.57\00:49:05.91 The Scriptures are inspired by the Holy Spirit. 00:49:05.94\00:49:08.88 And they have to be right. 00:49:08.91\00:49:10.58 The Holy Spirit doesn't say one thing 00:49:10.61\00:49:11.95 in the Old Testament 00:49:11.98\00:49:13.31 and another thing in the New Testament, 00:49:13.35\00:49:14.68 they all harmonize 00:49:14.72\00:49:16.05 because one spirit is doing the leading 00:49:16.08\00:49:17.45 and the impressing. 00:49:17.49\00:49:18.82 So we have the creation account 00:49:18.85\00:49:20.62 which is the part of this lesson here 00:49:20.66\00:49:22.46 is reliable. 00:49:22.49\00:49:23.83 And if you look at it, 00:49:23.86\00:49:25.19 I think it was you did pastor mentioned 00:49:25.23\00:49:26.56 that the proof is overwhelming. 00:49:26.59\00:49:28.13 Proof is overwhelming, 00:49:28.16\00:49:29.50 just like a few things that you were able to mention 00:49:29.53\00:49:31.67 about the world of things in order where it's water, 00:49:31.70\00:49:33.77 whatever it is, it's just overwhelming. 00:49:33.80\00:49:35.67 The proof is, I'm just wondering 00:49:35.70\00:49:37.27 why we just don't by the grace of God 00:49:37.31\00:49:38.71 except that settle down into say, amen, this is good. 00:49:38.74\00:49:40.81 Amen. It's a good. 00:49:40.84\00:49:42.18 God's way. 00:49:42.21\00:49:43.55 God's way is the best way, is it not? 00:49:43.58\00:49:45.15 So these Bible texts, I'm gonna state 00:49:45.18\00:49:46.82 how each of the writers went back. 00:49:46.85\00:49:48.98 So now remember if these writers went back 00:49:49.02\00:49:51.02 to Genesis 1-11, 00:49:51.05\00:49:53.15 so on through there 00:49:53.19\00:49:54.52 and used it for reliable history, 00:49:54.56\00:49:57.66 if they use it for reliable history, 00:49:57.69\00:49:59.29 why shouldn't we? 00:49:59.33\00:50:00.66 I think we should, don't you? 00:50:00.70\00:50:02.16 First one is Matthew 19. 00:50:02.20\00:50:03.53 We'll go through 00:50:03.57\00:50:04.90 as many as we can get through here. 00:50:04.93\00:50:06.27 Matthew 19:4-5. 00:50:06.30\00:50:08.74 I like it against what the Bible said. 00:50:08.77\00:50:10.47 "Jesus refers to the writing of" who? 00:50:10.51\00:50:12.81 "Of Moses, 00:50:12.84\00:50:14.18 and the creation of male and female." 00:50:14.21\00:50:17.71 Paul refers to what? 00:50:17.75\00:50:19.08 The creation to make a theological point 00:50:19.11\00:50:22.58 in Acts 17:24. 00:50:22.62\00:50:24.85 So instead of reading at all, 00:50:24.89\00:50:26.22 we've got to condense it down as quickly as we can. 00:50:26.25\00:50:29.19 Notice Mark 10:6-9, 00:50:29.22\00:50:32.09 it's giving an account of marriage here, 00:50:32.13\00:50:34.70 where it says, 00:50:34.73\00:50:36.06 "From the beginning of creation God made them," what? 00:50:36.10\00:50:40.34 "Male and female." So we're just using what? 00:50:40.37\00:50:42.87 Scripture as proof, right? 00:50:42.90\00:50:44.24 We're just going back to Scripture. 00:50:44.27\00:50:46.61 Luke 11:50-51. 00:50:46.64\00:50:50.38 Jesus is pronouncing some woes. 00:50:50.41\00:50:53.35 And I would assume with Jesus of pronouncing some woes, 00:50:53.38\00:50:55.65 we need to listen to those, don't you think? 00:50:55.68\00:50:57.62 Some woes, and He does it on whom? 00:50:57.65\00:50:59.59 He does it on the Scribes and the Pharisees. 00:50:59.62\00:51:01.99 Now notice this. 00:51:02.02\00:51:03.36 May I say they were up to no good again. 00:51:03.39\00:51:04.79 Notice, it said, "The blood of all the prophets, 00:51:04.83\00:51:07.16 which was shed 00:51:07.20\00:51:08.53 from the foundation of the world, 00:51:08.56\00:51:10.80 may be required of this generation." 00:51:10.83\00:51:13.37 Notice. 00:51:13.40\00:51:14.74 "From the blood of Abel into the blood of Zacharias 00:51:14.77\00:51:18.24 which persuaded them," 00:51:18.27\00:51:19.61 notice this, I think, yeah, 00:51:19.64\00:51:22.54 "perish between the altar and the temple." 00:51:22.58\00:51:26.38 So Jesus pronouncing these woes, 00:51:26.41\00:51:28.28 but notice what they're doing? 00:51:28.32\00:51:29.65 They're referring back to Genesis 00:51:29.68\00:51:31.92 In the beginning, 00:51:31.95\00:51:33.29 God so to me that safe, but these men, these writers, 00:51:33.32\00:51:36.42 these inspired writers by the Holy Spirit of God, 00:51:36.46\00:51:39.03 they're taking these from the beginning, 00:51:39.06\00:51:40.40 and they're putting them 00:51:40.43\00:51:41.76 in a New Testament even settings. 00:51:41.80\00:51:43.23 And so we can draw from those things 00:51:43.26\00:51:45.47 that simply give proof 00:51:45.50\00:51:47.14 of certainly the reliability historical perspective here. 00:51:47.17\00:51:50.91 John 1:1-3, 00:51:50.94\00:51:52.87 how many times have we been through that? 00:51:52.91\00:51:54.24 Yes. You know what? 00:51:54.28\00:51:55.61 It's still, if you're like I am it just does not get old. 00:51:55.64\00:51:58.08 Never. This never gets old. 00:51:58.11\00:51:59.91 There's always something that we can learn from somebody 00:51:59.95\00:52:02.28 brings out from it 00:52:02.32\00:52:03.65 or Holy Spirit inspires you with 00:52:03.69\00:52:05.02 and we just did 00:52:05.05\00:52:06.39 and it just in the beginning was what? 00:52:06.42\00:52:08.16 Word. Beginning was the word. 00:52:08.19\00:52:09.52 When we go through all that, 00:52:09.56\00:52:10.89 but in the beginning was the word 00:52:10.93\00:52:12.26 the same was in the beginning with God's 00:52:12.29\00:52:14.13 we know the true. 00:52:14.16\00:52:15.50 All things were made by Him, in Him was life. 00:52:15.53\00:52:18.83 Well, praise God for that. 00:52:18.87\00:52:20.84 There is no life then without Him. 00:52:20.87\00:52:23.10 Like you're talking about there's no life 00:52:23.14\00:52:24.47 without the water, 00:52:24.51\00:52:25.84 there's no life without the oxygen, 00:52:25.87\00:52:27.21 you know, the right mixture and so on so forth, 00:52:27.24\00:52:29.08 that God put there for us. 00:52:29.11\00:52:30.45 Praise God for that. Going to Acts 14:15. 00:52:30.48\00:52:34.55 Acts 14:15. 00:52:34.58\00:52:35.92 We have Paul and Barnabas preaching. 00:52:35.95\00:52:37.69 Now the reason I'm leaving through them 00:52:37.72\00:52:39.05 not reading them all 00:52:39.09\00:52:40.42 because how can we get through how many was it 13 or a lot? 00:52:40.46\00:52:43.16 That was it as good, that one question. 00:52:43.19\00:52:44.79 So here's all these passages to go through. 00:52:44.83\00:52:46.76 We might read one or two or three. 00:52:46.80\00:52:48.20 So this is where your Lesson Study Guide 00:52:48.23\00:52:49.76 comes in. 00:52:49.80\00:52:51.13 Be sure and get you one if you haven't 00:52:51.17\00:52:52.50 that way you can go and read them for yourself. 00:52:52.53\00:52:54.17 Acts 14:15 Paul and Barnabas preaching said, 00:52:54.20\00:52:57.41 "Ye should turn from these," what? 00:52:57.44\00:52:59.34 "These vanities unto the living God," 00:52:59.37\00:53:02.28 who, the living God who did what? 00:53:02.31\00:53:03.98 "Who made heaven and earth." 00:53:04.01\00:53:05.71 And that's Acts 14:15, 00:53:05.75\00:53:07.52 "Which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, 00:53:07.55\00:53:09.52 and all things that are therein." 00:53:09.55\00:53:11.35 Paul going right back to the beginning. 00:53:11.39\00:53:13.05 Paul going right back to 00:53:13.09\00:53:14.42 and talking again to brings us to, what? 00:53:14.46\00:53:16.12 Our message that it was people are to give to the world 00:53:16.16\00:53:18.46 into three angels' message, 00:53:18.49\00:53:20.13 encouraging people to go back to the beginning. 00:53:20.16\00:53:23.37 You know why? 00:53:23.40\00:53:24.73 Because we've left the beginning. 00:53:24.77\00:53:26.70 We've left, we forgot who God is? 00:53:26.74\00:53:28.24 We forgot that He's our Creator, 00:53:28.27\00:53:29.70 and we're giving that call to come back. 00:53:29.74\00:53:31.64 Romans 1:10. 00:53:31.67\00:53:33.21 Very familiar, I'm sure to you, 00:53:33.24\00:53:34.81 Paul showing the Gentiles there's no excuse 00:53:34.84\00:53:37.75 for their unrighteous acts. 00:53:37.78\00:53:39.71 For they're doing wrong. 00:53:39.75\00:53:41.08 Paul says there's really no excuse. 00:53:41.12\00:53:42.45 For he says, 00:53:42.48\00:53:43.82 "For the invisible things of him 00:53:43.85\00:53:45.29 from the creation of the world are," what? 00:53:45.32\00:53:48.32 "Are clearly seen." Where does Paul do? 00:53:48.36\00:53:50.26 He goes back to their creation of the world. 00:53:50.29\00:53:52.39 He said, being understood by the things that are, what? 00:53:52.43\00:53:56.00 That are made even his eternal power 00:53:56.03\00:53:59.10 and Godhead 00:53:59.13\00:54:00.47 so that they are without excuse. 00:54:00.50\00:54:03.00 And, you know, I've often said, 00:54:03.04\00:54:04.47 we may do something wrong, 00:54:04.51\00:54:05.84 we may make a wrong choice or wrong decision, 00:54:05.87\00:54:08.21 but, you know, over the years I've tried by the grace of God 00:54:08.24\00:54:10.48 is not to make excuse where I've fallen short 00:54:10.51\00:54:12.41 and did something is wrong. 00:54:12.45\00:54:13.78 It's not to make an excuse for it, right? 00:54:13.82\00:54:15.88 We blame ourselves and say, 00:54:15.92\00:54:17.49 God give me grace and strength to gain that victory. 00:54:17.52\00:54:20.02 In 2 Corinthians 4:6. 00:54:20.06\00:54:22.29 2 Corinthians 4:6, Paul warns us not to preach, 00:54:22.32\00:54:27.60 notice, not to preach ourselves. 00:54:27.63\00:54:29.56 And I'm gonna jump right to verse 5 where it says, 00:54:29.60\00:54:31.80 "But preach the one 00:54:31.83\00:54:33.17 who commanded the light to do, " what? 00:54:33.20\00:54:35.47 "To shine out of darkness." 00:54:35.50\00:54:38.37 Where does that take us once again? 00:54:38.41\00:54:40.11 Proof history, we go back to the very beginning 00:54:40.14\00:54:42.58 in creation there. 00:54:42.61\00:54:43.95 2 Corinthians 4:6. Ephesians 3:9. 00:54:43.98\00:54:47.75 Ephesians 3:9, we're getting to the end, 00:54:47.78\00:54:49.62 notice, 00:54:49.65\00:54:50.99 Paul warning the church to experience 00:54:51.02\00:54:52.99 the principalities and powers of heaven. 00:54:53.02\00:54:56.06 We need to experience that today. 00:54:56.09\00:54:58.19 We need to understand there's power 00:54:58.23\00:54:59.56 in the Word of God. 00:54:59.59\00:55:00.93 There's power when we study, 00:55:00.96\00:55:02.30 there's power when we come together, 00:55:02.33\00:55:03.67 there's power when we pray together, 00:55:03.70\00:55:05.13 there's power when we studied together 00:55:05.17\00:55:07.07 of God's Word, 00:55:07.10\00:55:08.44 and notice what he said, he goes back and he says, 00:55:08.47\00:55:10.27 "To make all men to see what is the fellowship 00:55:10.31\00:55:12.94 of the mystery," 00:55:12.97\00:55:14.31 notice, 00:55:14.34\00:55:15.68 "which from the beginning of the world 00:55:15.71\00:55:17.05 hath been hid in God, 00:55:17.08\00:55:18.41 who created all things by Jesus Christ." 00:55:18.45\00:55:21.88 I think the Bible 00:55:21.92\00:55:23.25 is reliable source of history, don't you? 00:55:23.28\00:55:25.09 We can go right back. 00:55:25.12\00:55:26.45 And it certainly tells us 00:55:26.49\00:55:27.82 the powers and principalities of heaven. 00:55:27.86\00:55:29.39 And you know, to me, I just wanna tell you quickly, 00:55:29.42\00:55:31.39 I believe that tells that Jesus is coming. 00:55:31.43\00:55:32.93 I think it tells us 00:55:32.96\00:55:34.30 how we can be ready for that coming. 00:55:34.33\00:55:35.70 We've missed heaven. 00:55:35.73\00:55:37.07 We've missed our purpose for being here. 00:55:37.10\00:55:38.60 God bless each one. 00:55:38.63\00:55:39.97 And we thank you for tuning in today. 00:55:40.00\00:55:41.90 It's a lesson I've enjoyed it. Take a breath. 00:55:46.31\00:55:48.34 Man, that's a lot of information. 00:55:48.38\00:55:49.78 Just hearing brother John go through those genealogies. 00:55:49.81\00:55:52.88 I'm over here just like, "Man, this is so, 00:55:52.91\00:55:54.75 it's lot of information." 00:55:54.78\00:55:56.58 But we have just a couple of minutes left. 00:55:56.62\00:55:58.59 Let's go back through and allow you guys 00:55:58.62\00:56:00.19 to give a final comment. 00:56:00.22\00:56:01.82 On Monday we looked at Creation 00:56:01.86\00:56:03.19 in Ancient Literature 00:56:03.22\00:56:04.56 and really we looked at 00:56:04.59\00:56:05.93 did the creation account come first 00:56:05.96\00:56:07.30 or did this pagan mythology came first? 00:56:07.33\00:56:09.60 And I am so grateful that the Word of God was first. 00:56:09.63\00:56:13.34 That God pre-existed from eternity. 00:56:13.37\00:56:16.64 And that when God says it, we can believe it, 00:56:16.67\00:56:19.01 and that can settle it for us. 00:56:19.04\00:56:21.18 Paganism versus Creation. 00:56:21.21\00:56:23.95 What an anomaly, what an odd thought, paganism, 00:56:23.98\00:56:27.72 something that came along a long-time 00:56:27.75\00:56:29.62 after versus creation that pre-existed all of sin. 00:56:29.65\00:56:34.36 Isaiah 45:12 says, 00:56:34.39\00:56:36.22 "I have made the earth, and created man on it. 00:56:36.26\00:56:39.86 I, My hands stretched out the heavens, 00:56:39.89\00:56:43.57 and all their host I have commanded." 00:56:43.60\00:56:46.33 That settles it for me. 00:56:46.37\00:56:47.70 Amen. Amen. 00:56:47.74\00:56:49.37 I like to read from Patriarchs and Prophets, 00:56:49.40\00:56:51.74 116 because it gives you a balance here. 00:56:51.77\00:56:54.64 It says, "The works of creation 00:56:54.68\00:56:56.38 testify of God's power and greatness. 00:56:56.41\00:56:59.48 'The heavens declare the glory of God, 00:56:59.51\00:57:02.12 and the firmament shows His handiwork'" 00:57:02.15\00:57:04.25 Psalm 19:1. 00:57:04.29\00:57:05.62 "Those who take the written word 00:57:05.65\00:57:07.46 as their counselor will find in science 00:57:07.49\00:57:09.86 an aid to understand God. 00:57:09.89\00:57:12.13 The invisible things of Him from the creation of the world 00:57:12.16\00:57:14.93 are clearly seen, 00:57:14.96\00:57:16.30 being understood by the things that are made, 00:57:16.33\00:57:18.27 even His eternal power and Godhead.'" 00:57:18.30\00:57:20.10 Romans 1:20. 00:57:20.14\00:57:21.80 So using the Bible as a guide, 00:57:21.84\00:57:24.24 science can help us understand more about God. 00:57:24.27\00:57:27.24 Amen. Amen. 00:57:27.28\00:57:28.61 Quick thought here on Spiritual Gifts, 00:57:28.64\00:57:29.98 book 3 says this, 00:57:30.01\00:57:31.35 "When men leave the Word of God 00:57:31.38\00:57:32.71 in regard to the history of creation, 00:57:32.75\00:57:34.38 seek to account for God's creative works 00:57:34.42\00:57:37.59 upon natural principles, 00:57:37.62\00:57:39.29 they are upon a boundless ocean of uncertainty." 00:57:39.32\00:57:42.32 Amen.
