question people often say,

And we try to qualify
that by making where we are

exciting and vital place.

but I live in the Midwest

and then people
tend to all automatically

draw conclusions about,

something about
where you're from

and where you are.

And so when we
think about the origin

and the nature of the Bible,

it's a part of our
society in which we live.

Origins have a lot
to do. Are you European?

Are you from the Middle East?

Are you from the
islands of the sea?

Are you from Asia?

Well the Bible, in fact,
is not from the Middle East

or from the islands of the
sea, the Bible is divinely born.

It's really from
the heart of God.

So when we think about that,

In our modern society
today there are many Bibles.

We have them in printed form,
we have them in digital form,

we have them in
various translations.

But the point I want
to begin our lesson study

with is regardless of
the divinity of the Bible

unless you imbibe the Bible,

unless it permeates

never bring life to you,

And so I want to encourage you,

you may be living
in a fast paced world

like we are.

We live in a very
fast paced society,

but if we don't
partake of God's Word,

not just as a point of
study or developing of a sermon,

but it has to be our
own personal devotion,

like the thing that gives
us nourishment for our day.

a personal impact,

then the personal

that is not in harmony,

that's why holy men of God,
they were literally examined

by the Lord chosen by Him,

So we know that it's confirmed.

It's a light that

And when you study the Bible
and you understand prophecy,

leading us to that perfect day.

Now, some of the
possible approaches

to studying the Bible are these.

First of all,

the Bible is a
book of confirmation,

not a book of speculation.

It's vitally important.
It's a book of confirmation.

It's confirmed,
it's not confirmed just

necessarily Christians,

convicted or converted

So the Bible is a

Secondly, the Bible
is a book of instruction,

You know, it's not God

That's the political approach.

The Lord is saying,
"That's why the commandments

I call suggestions,
the Ten Commandments."

When you follow Bible,

you find its instructions
are good for reproof,

for correction, for
instruction that the man of God,

the woman of God may
be thoroughly equipped.

We cannot go out into
this world in a sinful battle,

without the whole armor of God.

And you can be fully clad,
that's the defensive weapons,

but the Spirit of God,

the sword of God is

If you are not sufficiently

book of gradual revelation,

about the message to Pharaoh
that God had raised up Pharaoh

for a purpose.

I read the Bible for many
years and never caught that.

It's the dawning of the Bible,
it gets brighter and brighter.

The other part the
Bible does not just inform

but the Bible is
intended to transform.

Be transformed by the
renewing of your mind.

And next, the
Bible is the product

of direct communication

between humanity and divinity.

Taking the divine
element into consideration

approach to God's Word.

letter from the President,

Well, friends, the Bible is
from the God of the universe.

When we understand,

it alters our approach
to the reading of the Bible.

not just scriptures,

And that from
childhood you have known

fit into any circle,

the qualifications,

educational achievements,

I feel
comfortable in any circle,

as I said to one prime minister,

that said to me,
"Why are you not afraid?"

I said him respectfully,

the Prime Minister of St. Lucia,

He said, "Why you not afraid?"

I said, "Because I answer
to an even higher authority."

And he looked at me
in a very somber way

You know, the Bible

is connected to an
even higher authority

than any dignitary
or any prelate on earth.

Next the Bible is
a cooperative work.

It is not the
product of a single entity.

Daniel 12:4, Daniel
says, "But you Daniel,

the Lord told him to speak,

"You Daniel shut up the words

and seal the book
until the time of the end,

many shall run to and fro,
and knowledge shall increase."

This cooperative work
between God and Daniel

became a light for
future generations.

And we are thanking the Lord

that Daniel was humble enough

had instructed him,

The third thing

Here's what the Bible says,

turn to the right hand

or whenever you
turn to the left.'"

That's why 1 John 1:7 says,

"If we walk in the
light as He is in the light,

we have
fellowship with one another,"

deeper than friendship,

not human invention.

question every little thing,

I was one of the
biggest skeptics.

I needed a proof text
for everything, you know,

and you got people like this

who approach the
study of the word,

the reading of the word,
00:47:55.24\00:47:56.57
the understanding
of the Word of God,
00:47:56.60\00:47:58.07
they question every little thing
00:47:58.11\00:47:59.71
because they have to have that
proof for every little thing.

For instance, did
the Lord really create
00:48:02.18\00:48:04.35
the world in six
literal, 24 hour periods?

I mean, can we
really trust that, right?

You know, did God
really split the Red Sea?
00:48:09.28\00:48:13.09
You know, the actual sea itself?
00:48:13.12\00:48:14.52
Or was it the Sea of Reeds,
which is about a six inch,

you know, body
of water, you know.
00:48:18.29\00:48:21.10
It's powerful when you
really consider all of this.

We have to learn to receive
the Word of God in faith.

If God provided
proof for everything

and evidence for everything,
would we exercise faith?

And so that's why I
