of world powers that emerge,

as it bleeds

reign for very long,

And so we see that these
three kings was Cambyses,

But then Darius I
comes in would technically be

legitimate King after Cyrus.

the inline, the fourth king,

the third legitimate king

which is mentioned
in the Book of Esther

as Ahasuerus.

And so, the Medo-Persian army,

We're told in these verses,

to be a strong king

come and he's going to

And we know historically,

Daniel 7 and Daniel 8.

And those
powerful books teach us

which kingdom came after
the Medes and the Persians.

Greece.

Obviously, it was
Greece and so the king

that he's speaking of
here is none other than

Alexander the Great.

And what's powerful is
if you read in history,

we know that God's
hand was on at least
00:11:00.12\00:11:03.53
the fulfillment of this.

Even though we know
that Satan was working
00:11:06.59\00:11:08.36
behind the destructive
powers of these nations,
00:11:08.40\00:11:11.10
we know that God
00:11:11.13\00:11:12.47
sought to be fit to
allow this to happen.

And it happened so powerfully
that if you do your history,

you will find
that when Ahasuerus met

Alexander the Great
00:11:22.38\00:11:23.71
and his armies
on the battlefield,

he came with 1 million men.

But Alexander the
Great only brought 40,000.

You'll do the math
in your head on that

and tell me what king
or what military genius

would go into a
battlefield with 40,000 men
00:11:37.63\00:11:40.03
against a million, the
odds are just overwhelming.

But we know that it happened

because that's exactly how
God said that it would happen.

And so we're talking
about Alexander the Great,

he was the great king that,

of course, would overcome
the Medes and the Persians.

And we know that at age 32,

he died without leaving an
heir to rule to the Empire.

And so the kingdom was
divided among his four generals,

which is why you see
there in Daniel Chapter 7,

this four-headed leopard.

But you know,
what's interesting,

it wasn't always just four...

with the four heads.

If you go over
to Daniel Chapter 8,

what do you see

this goat starts out

with one horn and then,

of course, it is plucked
off in the process of battle,

and four come up in its place,

which, of course, is
made mentioned here that,

of course, his four generals,

Seleucus over the
kingdoms of the area of Syria

and Mesopotamia,
Ptolemy over Egypt,

Lysimachus over Thrace
and portions of Asia Minor,

and, of course, Cassander
over Macedonia and Greece.

What these opening four verses

are setting us up for is

God is taking Daniel
through this progressive

prophetic timing to
further reveal to him

that what is coming.

He's trying to put
us in our proper place

and revealing to us
the succession of time

and exactly how
things are going to play out.

the South as prophesied

here as referring to the battles

of these two dynasties.

So according to this prophecy,

these dynasties attempt
to be united by marriage,

but it's a short lived

These wars affect God's people.

But why didn't God tell us
He announces it beforehand?

people to know the challenges

that they're going to face.

Our God is the God of history.

And as we compare
the prophetic record

with the historical record,

we see that His prophetic
word is fulfilled as predicted.

That's the important part.

God predicts the back and forth

Hellenistic kingdoms

understand prophecies
