The Bible tells us, "In the beginning was the Word 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.67 and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." 00:00:03.70\00:00:08.07 It says "To receive with meekness 00:00:08.10\00:00:10.34 the implanted Word, 00:00:10.37\00:00:11.91 which is able to save your souls. 00:00:11.94\00:00:14.14 And to be diligent to present yourself 00:00:14.18\00:00:16.58 approved to God, 00:00:16.61\00:00:18.18 rightly dividing the Word of truth." 00:00:18.21\00:00:21.12 Join us now for the 3ABN Sabbath School Panel. 00:00:21.15\00:00:25.02 Our study today is the Book of Daniel. 00:00:25.05\00:00:27.99 Hello, and welcome to 3ABN Sabbath School panel. 00:00:31.39\00:00:34.00 I'm Jill Morikone, 00:00:34.03\00:00:35.36 and we're so glad that you've taken time 00:00:35.40\00:00:36.73 from your day to join us 00:00:36.77\00:00:38.10 in our study of the Book of Daniel. 00:00:38.13\00:00:40.84 We're on lesson number six, 00:00:40.87\00:00:42.30 From Arrogance to Destruction. 00:00:42.34\00:00:44.51 Now it's interesting even the titles tell you 00:00:44.54\00:00:47.34 of last week's lesson and this week's, 00:00:47.38\00:00:49.44 that we're going to have a very different outcome 00:00:49.48\00:00:51.38 than we did last week. 00:00:51.41\00:00:52.75 Last week, of course, 00:00:52.78\00:00:54.12 we talked about From Pride to Humility, 00:00:54.15\00:00:55.68 Daniel Chapter 4 and Nebuchadnezzar 00:00:55.72\00:00:57.65 and how the judgment of God came upon him, 00:00:57.69\00:01:00.26 but he humbled his heart and was converted. 00:01:00.29\00:01:03.12 This week is King Belshazzar. 00:01:03.16\00:01:06.49 And we see he did not humbled his heart 00:01:06.53\00:01:09.46 and this night that we're going to talk about 00:01:09.50\00:01:11.67 in Daniel Chapter 5, 00:01:11.70\00:01:13.03 he's killed and the Babylonian Empire 00:01:13.07\00:01:15.60 is given over to the Medes and to the Persians, 00:01:15.64\00:01:19.24 fulfilling actually Daniel 2 Daniel 7, Bible prophecy. 00:01:19.27\00:01:23.18 I want to introduce our panel at this time. 00:01:23.21\00:01:25.41 To my left, Pastor Ryan Day, privileged to have you here. 00:01:25.45\00:01:28.15 It's good to be here. Thank you very much. 00:01:33.52\00:01:36.16 Then, Sister Shelley Quinn, 00:01:36.19\00:01:37.79 thank you so much for your insight 00:01:37.83\00:01:39.56 into God's Word as well. 00:01:39.59\00:01:40.93 Oh, you know, I learned so much 00:01:40.96\00:01:42.46 from each one of you. 00:01:42.50\00:01:43.97 And I was just thinking we are sitting here 00:01:44.00\00:01:46.17 with several hundred pages of notes among us, 00:01:46.20\00:01:50.17 on this one little book, how exciting deep study. 00:01:50.21\00:01:53.88 Absolutely. I love that deep study. 00:01:53.91\00:01:55.68 And speaking of deep study, Pastor John, 00:01:55.71\00:01:57.45 thank you for your deep study of the Word of God 00:01:57.48\00:01:59.51 and for being here. 00:01:59.55\00:02:00.88 Praise the Lord. 00:02:00.92\00:02:02.25 I'm looking forward to this one on the fall of Babylon. 00:02:02.28\00:02:04.49 I'm chomping at the bits. Absolutely. 00:02:04.52\00:02:06.55 Well, let's go to the Lord in prayer 00:02:06.59\00:02:08.22 and then we'll jump right into it. 00:02:08.26\00:02:09.79 Ryan, would you pray for us? Absolutely. 00:02:09.82\00:02:11.99 Father in heaven, Lord, here we are, 00:02:12.03\00:02:13.36 again in another week of 3ABN Sabbath School panel. 00:02:13.40\00:02:16.16 And as those around the world and us here, 00:02:16.20\00:02:19.23 are about to open Your Word, Lord. 00:02:19.27\00:02:22.20 We certainly wouldn't do it 00:02:22.24\00:02:23.57 without Your leadership and guidance. 00:02:23.61\00:02:24.94 So we ask for Your Holy Spirit right now, 00:02:24.97\00:02:26.81 to give us the words, give us the correct expressions 00:02:26.84\00:02:30.11 and the ability to communicate this Word, 00:02:30.15\00:02:32.41 the way that You would, Lord. 00:02:32.45\00:02:33.78 So each and every one of us are edified 00:02:33.82\00:02:35.55 and brought closer to Jesus. 00:02:35.58\00:02:37.39 We praise You for this opportunity 00:02:37.42\00:02:38.89 and we thank You for Your never ending love, 00:02:38.92\00:02:41.02 grace and mercy 00:02:41.06\00:02:42.39 and we ask this in Jesus' name, amen. 00:02:42.42\00:02:45.09 I want to encourage you to go to the following website, 00:02:45.13\00:02:47.63 so you can get your own copy of the quarterly 00:02:47.66\00:02:50.03 and follow along with us. 00:02:50.07\00:02:51.43 That website is ABSG.Adventist.org, 00:02:51.47\00:02:56.47 that stands for Adult Bible Study Guide. 00:02:56.50\00:02:59.17 Adventist.org. 00:02:59.21\00:03:01.31 Or we always encourage you 00:03:01.34\00:03:02.68 to visit your local Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:03:02.71\00:03:05.15 and they would give you a quarterly 00:03:05.18\00:03:06.88 and welcome you in fellowship 00:03:06.92\00:03:08.62 and study of the Word of God together. 00:03:08.65\00:03:10.89 Want to make sure we read our memory text 00:03:10.92\00:03:13.52 as we jump into this lesson, From Arrogance to Destruction. 00:03:13.56\00:03:16.93 The memory text is not actually from Daniel Chapter 5. 00:03:16.96\00:03:20.03 It's from Daniel Chapter 2. Daniel 2:21, 00:03:20.06\00:03:23.57 "He changes the times and the seasons. 00:03:23.60\00:03:26.30 He removes kings and raises up kings. 00:03:26.33\00:03:29.74 He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those 00:03:29.77\00:03:32.37 who have understanding." 00:03:32.41\00:03:34.18 Now we want to just take a moment 00:03:34.21\00:03:35.54 and set up the time period as it were, 00:03:35.58\00:03:37.35 leading into this portion, on Sunday's lesson 00:03:37.38\00:03:40.75 we have Belshazzar's feast the beginning of it, 00:03:40.78\00:03:43.28 the first four verses which we will jump into. 00:03:43.32\00:03:45.65 But before we do that, Daniel was taken captive 00:03:45.69\00:03:48.79 and he was brought to Babylon 00:03:48.82\00:03:50.99 when he was a young man in his mid late teens, 605 BC. 00:03:51.03\00:03:55.86 This night, Daniel Chapter 5 all takes place in one night. 00:03:55.90\00:04:00.30 This night is in 539 BC, 00:04:00.34\00:04:04.21 so almost 70 years have passed 00:04:04.24\00:04:07.88 since Daniel came as a young man 00:04:07.91\00:04:09.98 and Daniel is now an older man 00:04:10.01\00:04:12.78 who has been serving in governmental capacity 00:04:12.81\00:04:16.15 for all of these years. 00:04:16.18\00:04:18.79 Now, Daniel 4, 00:04:18.82\00:04:20.16 we had the conversion of Nebuchadnezzar. 00:04:20.19\00:04:21.62 And obviously, sometime after that point, 00:04:21.66\00:04:24.36 Nebuchadnezzar passed away. 00:04:24.39\00:04:26.09 And history tells us he died in 562 BC, 00:04:26.13\00:04:28.96 so that means there's probably 23 years 00:04:29.00\00:04:30.93 from his death to Daniel Chapter 5. 00:04:30.97\00:04:33.44 So you read the Bible and you think, 00:04:33.47\00:04:35.00 oh, it's just another verse, 00:04:35.04\00:04:36.37 but we're talking years have passed 00:04:36.40\00:04:38.81 and a lot of history has taken place as it were. 00:04:38.84\00:04:43.65 Nebuchadnezzar's son took over the throne, 00:04:43.68\00:04:46.92 his name Evil. 00:04:46.95\00:04:49.62 Can you imagine naming your son that? 00:04:49.65\00:04:51.05 I just got us off a minute, Evil Merodach, 00:04:51.09\00:04:54.16 why would you name your son that 00:04:54.19\00:04:55.92 or he's also called Amel-Marduk. 00:04:55.96\00:04:58.63 He only reigned a couple of years, 00:04:58.66\00:05:00.73 and then the son-in-law 00:05:00.76\00:05:02.10 of Nebuchadnezzar reigned a couple years after that. 00:05:02.13\00:05:04.93 He died of natural causes 00:05:04.97\00:05:06.33 and then the grandson of Nebuchadnezzar took over. 00:05:06.37\00:05:09.04 He was assassinated after less than a year. 00:05:09.07\00:05:11.71 And then a gentleman by the name of Nabonidus 00:05:11.74\00:05:15.04 became king of Babylon. 00:05:15.08\00:05:17.38 He ruled for 17 years. 00:05:17.41\00:05:20.42 partway into his rulership, his son Belshazzar 00:05:20.45\00:05:25.32 became a co regent as it were with his father. 00:05:25.35\00:05:29.56 This explains why, Pastor Ryan, in Daniel Chapter 5 later, 00:05:29.59\00:05:32.83 Belshazzar offers to Daniel, he says, 00:05:32.86\00:05:36.46 I'll make you the third ruler because really technically 00:05:36.50\00:05:38.73 Belshazzar could have been the second ruler 00:05:38.77\00:05:40.60 because he's coreigning with his father. 00:05:40.64\00:05:43.44 Belshazzar is the grandson of Nebuchadnezzar 00:05:43.47\00:05:46.44 not through Nabonidus, but through his mother, 00:05:46.47\00:05:48.91 which is very fascinating. 00:05:48.94\00:05:50.81 Daniel 5 proves 00:05:50.85\00:05:52.18 the accuracy of the Word of God. 00:05:52.21\00:05:54.05 Remember in Daniel Chapter 2, the image. 00:05:54.08\00:05:56.32 Daniel had said after you, after the head of gold 00:05:56.35\00:05:58.39 after Babylon 00:05:58.42\00:05:59.75 shall arise a kingdom inferior to you. 00:05:59.79\00:06:01.56 And this prediction takes place 00:06:01.59\00:06:03.39 here in Daniel Chapter 5. 00:06:03.43\00:06:05.63 It also records Belshazzar's 00:06:05.66\00:06:07.43 open defiance of the God of heaven 00:06:07.46\00:06:10.87 and the judgment of God that came down upon him. 00:06:10.90\00:06:16.04 So let's read the first four verses here. 00:06:16.07\00:06:19.07 Verse 1, "Belshazzar the king 00:06:19.11\00:06:20.48 made a great feast for a thousand of his lords, 00:06:20.51\00:06:23.28 and drank wine 00:06:23.31\00:06:24.65 in the presence of the thousand." 00:06:24.68\00:06:26.11 Now, it's interesting, I can't even imagine a party 00:06:26.15\00:06:28.52 with a thousand people as guests 00:06:28.55\00:06:31.25 and then you have the wives in addition to that, 00:06:31.29\00:06:34.39 but they said in ancient times, 00:06:34.42\00:06:36.56 Persian monarch sometimes would dine 00:06:36.59\00:06:38.66 with as many as 15,000 people. 00:06:38.69\00:06:41.00 So by contrast, 00:06:41.03\00:06:42.36 maybe this is a small dinner engagement. 00:06:42.40\00:06:44.70 So the size might not be unusual, 00:06:44.73\00:06:46.53 but the setting most certainly is. 00:06:46.57\00:06:48.54 We know that Medo-Persians 00:06:48.57\00:06:49.90 had already been engaging in battle. 00:06:49.94\00:06:52.54 Nabonidus, had gone to fight against them, 00:06:52.57\00:06:56.08 and surrounding area had been captured 00:06:56.11\00:06:58.48 but Babylon had remained, 00:06:58.51\00:07:00.88 you could say it had not fallen, 00:07:00.92\00:07:02.95 they had not captured Babylon. 00:07:02.98\00:07:05.39 Maybe the feast was to ignore their problems 00:07:05.42\00:07:07.62 or to bolster their faith in their pagan gods, 00:07:07.66\00:07:10.26 I don't know, but they had this feast. 00:07:10.29\00:07:12.29 Verse 2, "While he tasted the wine 00:07:12.33\00:07:14.30 Belshazzar gave command 00:07:14.33\00:07:15.96 to bring the gold and silver vessels, 00:07:16.00\00:07:18.37 which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple 00:07:18.40\00:07:21.00 which had been in Jerusalem, 00:07:21.04\00:07:22.37 that the king and his lords, his wives, 00:07:22.40\00:07:24.21 his concubines might drink from them." 00:07:24.24\00:07:26.51 Verse 3, 00:07:26.54\00:07:28.18 "Then they brought the gold vessels 00:07:28.21\00:07:29.54 that had been taken 00:07:29.58\00:07:30.91 from the temple of the house of God 00:07:30.95\00:07:32.28 which had been in Jerusalem, 00:07:32.31\00:07:33.65 and the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines 00:07:33.68\00:07:35.68 drank from them." 00:07:35.72\00:07:37.72 Now these vessels we know were taken 00:07:37.75\00:07:39.59 when Nebuchadnezzar first invaded Jerusalem. 00:07:39.62\00:07:41.66 They were taken 00:07:41.69\00:07:43.02 when Daniel was made a captive back in 605 BC, 00:07:43.06\00:07:46.03 but Nebuchadnezzar showed these vessels respect 00:07:46.06\00:07:49.50 in a sense because he brought them 00:07:49.53\00:07:51.23 into the house of his God. 00:07:51.27\00:07:53.13 But here Belshazzar is taking the sacred vessels 00:07:53.17\00:07:57.77 from the house 00:07:57.81\00:07:59.17 and he is defiling them by using them 00:07:59.21\00:08:03.11 in some sort of pagan drunken revelry. 00:08:03.14\00:08:07.08 Not only that, he uses these sacred vessels 00:08:07.12\00:08:09.98 that are representative of God, 00:08:10.02\00:08:12.72 and He praises his pagan gods. 00:08:12.75\00:08:15.39 We see that in verse 4, "They drink wine 00:08:15.42\00:08:18.03 and they praised the gods of gold, and silver, 00:08:18.06\00:08:22.56 bronze and iron, wood and stone. 00:08:22.60\00:08:24.97 Now, there's six gods, six mentioned, right? 00:08:25.00\00:08:27.37 Gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, stone. 00:08:27.40\00:08:30.11 Now it's interesting to me. 00:08:30.14\00:08:31.47 Have you heard those metals before, 00:08:31.51\00:08:33.07 or most of those metals before? 00:08:33.11\00:08:34.88 Gold, being the head of the image of Babylon, 00:08:34.91\00:08:37.88 silver, Medo-Persia, 00:08:37.91\00:08:39.75 the chest of silver, 00:08:39.78\00:08:42.32 bronze, the belly of bronze, 00:08:42.35\00:08:44.05 that was Greece, legs, iron Rome. 00:08:44.09\00:08:46.49 Now the only metal 00:08:46.52\00:08:47.86 that's different as it says wood, 00:08:47.89\00:08:49.62 instead of the feet being iron and clay, 00:08:49.66\00:08:51.83 and then of course the stone 00:08:51.86\00:08:53.19 and that was Christ's everlasting kingdom, 00:08:53.23\00:08:54.70 the stone that was cut out without hands. 00:08:54.73\00:08:56.56 So it's interesting to me to see that, 00:08:56.60\00:08:58.87 now in our remaining time, 00:08:58.90\00:09:00.94 we're going to do a quick comparison 00:09:00.97\00:09:02.87 between Daniel Chapter 5 00:09:02.90\00:09:04.94 which is present day Babylon, 00:09:04.97\00:09:07.71 and Revelation Chapter 17, 00:09:07.74\00:09:10.45 which is End Time Babylon. 00:09:10.48\00:09:14.35 I see seven comparisons, there might be more, 00:09:14.38\00:09:16.65 but we're just going to go over seven here 00:09:16.69\00:09:18.32 in the time we have. 00:09:18.35\00:09:19.69 The first comparison in Daniel, 00:09:19.72\00:09:21.79 Belshazzar made his subjects drunk. 00:09:21.82\00:09:24.79 We just read that, 00:09:24.83\00:09:26.16 they drank wine out of these vessels. 00:09:26.19\00:09:29.90 In Revelation, this is Revelation 17:2, 00:09:29.93\00:09:32.67 "End Time Babylon, the harlot, the prostitute, 00:09:32.70\00:09:36.34 she makes the kings of the earth drunk 00:09:36.37\00:09:39.74 with the wine of her fornication." 00:09:39.77\00:09:43.18 We know that indicates the false doctrines, 00:09:43.21\00:09:46.08 the drinking of that, the wine. 00:09:46.11\00:09:48.65 Second comparison in Daniel, " 00:09:48.68\00:09:50.42 Belshazzar induced his nobles 00:09:50.45\00:09:52.59 and his subjects to immortality." 00:09:52.62\00:09:56.56 Now in Revelation 17, End Time Babylon, 00:09:56.59\00:10:00.86 "The prostitute induced the kings 00:10:00.90\00:10:04.50 of the earth to commit 00:10:04.53\00:10:05.87 spiritual fornication with her." 00:10:05.90\00:10:08.77 We see that in Revelation 17:2, 00:10:08.80\00:10:10.87 "With whom the kings of the earth 00:10:10.91\00:10:12.24 committed fornication 00:10:12.27\00:10:13.64 and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk 00:10:13.68\00:10:15.68 with the wine of her fornication." 00:10:15.71\00:10:17.28 Now this symbolizes the union of the spiritual 00:10:17.31\00:10:21.95 and the political powers, 00:10:21.98\00:10:24.19 when they commit 00:10:24.22\00:10:25.55 that spiritual fornication as it were, 00:10:25.59\00:10:27.62 this is the kings of the earth, 00:10:27.66\00:10:28.99 the political powers with the prostitute 00:10:29.02\00:10:32.39 who represents 00:10:32.43\00:10:33.76 the apostate religious system Babylon. 00:10:33.80\00:10:37.17 Then we have comparison three, 00:10:37.20\00:10:38.93 in Daniel Belshazzar and his guests they drank, 00:10:38.97\00:10:42.70 drunk from the golden goblets. 00:10:42.74\00:10:46.37 Remember the gold vessels that were taken from, 00:10:46.41\00:10:50.11 that Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem. 00:10:50.15\00:10:53.35 Now in Revelation, the prostitute drinks 00:10:53.38\00:10:55.55 from the golden cup. 00:10:55.58\00:10:58.19 Verse 4, Revelation 17:4, 00:10:58.22\00:11:00.49 "The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, 00:11:00.52\00:11:02.59 adorned with gold 00:11:02.62\00:11:03.96 and precious stones and pearls, 00:11:03.99\00:11:05.33 having in her hand a golden cup 00:11:05.36\00:11:08.63 full of abominations 00:11:08.66\00:11:10.10 and filthiness of her fornication." 00:11:10.13\00:11:12.13 Comparison number four. 00:11:12.17\00:11:14.17 In Daniel, judgment was pronounced 00:11:14.20\00:11:16.50 against ancient Babylon. 00:11:16.54\00:11:18.07 Now I won't read that, but we're going to see later 00:11:18.11\00:11:20.14 a hand comes on the scene 00:11:20.18\00:11:21.94 and write some words of judgment against Babylon. 00:11:21.98\00:11:26.92 Now End Time Babylon in Revelation, 00:11:26.95\00:11:29.68 judgment is pronounced against End Time Babylon. 00:11:29.72\00:11:33.49 We see that in Revelation 17:1, 00:11:33.52\00:11:36.22 "One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls 00:11:36.26\00:11:38.59 came and talked with me saying, 00:11:38.63\00:11:39.96 'Come I will show you 00:11:40.00\00:11:41.33 the judgment of the great harlot 00:11:41.36\00:11:44.20 who sits on many waters.'" 00:11:44.23\00:11:45.87 Fifth comparison, in Daniel, Belshazzar dishonored God 00:11:45.90\00:11:50.44 and the worship of these pagan gods 00:11:50.47\00:11:52.71 and the worship of these false gods. 00:11:52.74\00:11:55.64 End Time Babylon 00:11:55.68\00:11:57.25 in Revelation will blaspheme God 00:11:57.28\00:12:00.38 and challenge His authority. 00:12:00.42\00:12:03.79 Revelation 17:3, 00:12:03.82\00:12:05.69 "He carried me away in the Spirit 00:12:05.72\00:12:07.19 into the wilderness, 00:12:07.22\00:12:08.56 I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beasts 00:12:08.59\00:12:10.19 which was full of names of blasphemy, 00:12:10.23\00:12:12.63 having 7 heads and 10 horns." 00:12:12.66\00:12:14.73 End Time Babylon were blaspheming God 00:12:14.76\00:12:18.43 and challenge His authority. 00:12:18.47\00:12:21.00 Comparison number six, ancient Babylon 00:12:21.04\00:12:22.97 was built over the River Euphrates, 00:12:23.00\00:12:26.51 and we're going to find out 00:12:26.54\00:12:27.88 as we journey through this story 00:12:27.91\00:12:29.38 that that's how 00:12:29.41\00:12:30.75 the Medo-Persians captured the city 00:12:30.78\00:12:33.55 was drying up of the River Euphrates. 00:12:33.58\00:12:36.99 That's a prophecy from Isaiah 44. 00:12:37.02\00:12:39.49 End Time Babylon is built 00:12:39.52\00:12:41.52 over this symbolic River Euphrates. 00:12:41.56\00:12:45.69 Final comparison, Daniel in ancient Babylon, 00:12:45.73\00:12:48.80 "Mix to the treasures of God's sanctuary 00:12:48.83\00:12:51.17 with pagan revelry." 00:12:51.20\00:12:52.57 They took these gold vessels from the sanctuary 00:12:52.60\00:12:56.34 which were pure and holy and combined them 00:12:56.37\00:13:00.11 with pagan worship. 00:13:00.14\00:13:02.44 End Time Babylon will mix paganism, 00:13:02.48\00:13:06.98 spiritualism with these false doctrines 00:13:07.02\00:13:11.65 and will mix them together. 00:13:11.69\00:13:13.09 So what comparisons we see in the Word of God. 00:13:13.12\00:13:16.56 This night is a night of judgment, 00:13:16.59\00:13:19.89 Belshazzar and the entire kingdom 00:13:19.93\00:13:21.73 of Babylon is judged. 00:13:21.76\00:13:23.57 And, Ryan, you have An Uninvited Guest. 00:13:23.60\00:13:25.03 That's right. 00:13:25.07\00:13:26.40 Monday's lesson is entitled An Uninvited Guest. 00:13:26.43\00:13:28.60 And I like the title of this. 00:13:28.64\00:13:31.14 You know, back in my heathen days, 00:13:31.17\00:13:33.24 I was a partier. 00:13:33.27\00:13:35.14 I was a professional disc jockey 00:13:35.18\00:13:36.88 for four and a half years 00:13:36.91\00:13:38.25 and so I've had my fair share of parties, 00:13:38.28\00:13:40.85 and I'm certainly not proud to say that 00:13:40.88\00:13:42.32 but nonetheless, it's my past. 00:13:42.35\00:13:43.92 And at some of these parties you would often have 00:13:43.95\00:13:46.29 what are known as party crashers. 00:13:46.32\00:13:48.72 And so as we see here, these people, Belshazzar 00:13:48.76\00:13:53.23 and his people there, they're partying it up. 00:13:53.26\00:13:55.96 Probably not like it's 1999 00:13:56.00\00:13:58.10 but they're certainly partying it up 00:13:58.13\00:13:59.70 and a party crasher shows up. 00:13:59.73\00:14:02.84 And we know that this is, of course, God. 00:14:02.87\00:14:04.87 God is showing up and He, we see that 00:14:04.91\00:14:06.94 He intervenes in this particular situation, 00:14:06.98\00:14:10.05 and the mood 00:14:10.08\00:14:11.68 of the party changes really quickly. 00:14:11.71\00:14:14.55 And so we see that as we begin reading 00:14:14.58\00:14:16.42 in Daniel 5:5-8, notice what the Bible says. 00:14:16.45\00:14:20.72 "In the same hour, the fingers of a man's hand, 00:14:20.76\00:14:24.59 appeared and wrote opposite 00:14:24.63\00:14:26.36 the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall 00:14:26.39\00:14:29.66 of the king's palace, and the king saw 00:14:29.70\00:14:32.43 the part of the hand that wrote, 00:14:32.47\00:14:34.87 then the king's countenance changed, 00:14:34.90\00:14:37.17 and his thoughts troubled him 00:14:37.21\00:14:38.87 so that the joints of his hips were loosened, 00:14:38.91\00:14:41.64 and his knees not against each other. 00:14:41.68\00:14:44.35 I promise you he wasn't doing an Elvis impression. 00:14:44.38\00:14:47.28 Certainly, certainly, I mean, I would think to myself, 00:14:47.32\00:14:50.75 if this happened to me, 00:14:50.79\00:14:52.12 I would probably be terrified too, 00:14:52.15\00:14:53.49 but nonetheless, 00:14:53.52\00:14:54.86 it continues to say in verse 7, 00:14:54.89\00:14:56.22 "The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, 00:14:56.26\00:14:58.53 the Chaldeans and the soothsayers, 00:14:58.56\00:15:00.80 the king spoke saying to the wise men of Babylon, 00:15:00.83\00:15:03.37 whoever reads this writing 00:15:03.40\00:15:05.03 and tells me its interpretation 00:15:05.07\00:15:07.04 shall be clothed with the purple, 00:15:07.07\00:15:09.17 and have a chain," excuse me 00:15:09.20\00:15:10.84 "clothed with purple 00:15:10.87\00:15:12.21 and have a chain of gold around his neck, 00:15:12.24\00:15:13.91 and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom. 00:15:13.94\00:15:17.31 Now all the king's wise men came, 00:15:17.35\00:15:20.12 but they could not read the writing 00:15:20.15\00:15:21.65 or make known the king, its interpretation." 00:15:21.68\00:15:25.49 And so it's interesting, we're going to draw 00:15:25.52\00:15:28.02 some comparisons to what's happened before 00:15:28.06\00:15:30.16 to what's happening now. 00:15:30.19\00:15:31.53 Because, you know, King Nebuchadnezzar 00:15:31.56\00:15:34.36 as we had been studying, you know, 00:15:34.40\00:15:35.76 he had indeed an interesting experience 00:15:35.80\00:15:38.13 with the Lord, a journey. 00:15:38.17\00:15:39.67 But this young man seems to be much more arrogant, 00:15:39.70\00:15:43.51 much, much more drowning in the paganistic practices 00:15:43.54\00:15:47.74 and theories of the day 00:15:47.78\00:15:49.11 so much that he has a complete disrespect 00:15:49.14\00:15:51.48 for that which is holy. 00:15:51.51\00:15:53.05 And as Jill brought out wonderfully, 00:15:53.08\00:15:54.98 we see that the results of this causes God to say, 00:15:55.02\00:15:57.49 that's enough. 00:15:57.52\00:15:59.72 You've crossed the line. Now I must intervene. 00:15:59.75\00:16:02.49 And I must show up and I must do 00:16:02.52\00:16:04.43 what needs to be done. 00:16:04.46\00:16:05.79 And what's interesting here, I found this quote 00:16:05.83\00:16:07.16 from Testimonies to Ministers, page 436. 00:16:07.20\00:16:10.00 And notice how she describes it. 00:16:10.03\00:16:11.53 She says, "A light, 00:16:11.57\00:16:13.10 like the lightning followed the form, 00:16:13.13\00:16:16.04 forming of each letter 00:16:16.07\00:16:18.01 and lingered there making them living characters of awful 00:16:18.04\00:16:21.94 and terrible significance to all who looked upon them." 00:16:21.98\00:16:25.81 That's an interesting description, 00:16:25.85\00:16:27.65 'MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN,' 00:16:27.68\00:16:30.39 their very ignorance of those letters 00:16:30.42\00:16:33.46 traced up on the wall, 00:16:33.49\00:16:34.89 standing there flashing with light, 00:16:34.92\00:16:37.43 sent terror to their sinful hearts. 00:16:37.46\00:16:41.13 Their aroused consciences interpreted 00:16:41.16\00:16:44.00 these letters to be 00:16:44.03\00:16:45.37 a denunciation against them, 00:16:48.37\00:16:50.41 suspicion, fear and alarm 00:16:50.44\00:16:52.67 took a hold of the king and princes.'" 00:16:52.71\00:16:55.88 And so as you can see, 00:16:55.91\00:16:57.25 and you kind of visually in your mind, 00:16:57.28\00:16:58.68 they're partying it up and then this hand comes out 00:16:58.71\00:17:00.32 of nowhere. 00:17:00.35\00:17:01.68 And she describes it, Ellen White, 00:17:01.72\00:17:03.05 describes it as, it lit up as lightning 00:17:03.08\00:17:06.65 that was dancing across this wall 00:17:06.69\00:17:08.32 as the letters just stuck out. 00:17:08.36\00:17:10.23 And, of course, everyone in terror looks upon 00:17:10.26\00:17:12.99 and they can't even understand what it says. 00:17:13.03\00:17:14.63 But they knew it wasn't good news. 00:17:14.66\00:17:17.47 And so it's interesting that the king's response 00:17:17.50\00:17:19.80 would be very similar to 00:17:19.83\00:17:21.37 that of Nebuchadnezzar this week 00:17:21.40\00:17:22.74 that we find in Daniel Chapter 2. 00:17:22.77\00:17:24.71 So when King Nebuchadnezzar was shook by the dream 00:17:24.74\00:17:28.81 in Daniel Chapter 2, what did he do? 00:17:28.84\00:17:30.91 He called on all of his so called wise men of Babylon. 00:17:30.95\00:17:35.02 And, of course, we see that 00:17:35.05\00:17:36.38 that is the case here, he seeks and calls all of those 00:17:36.42\00:17:39.02 who are on the payroll of the kingdom, 00:17:39.05\00:17:41.12 and he calls them in and hopes that 00:17:41.16\00:17:42.59 they can interpret it. 00:17:42.62\00:17:43.96 We'll talk about that in just a moment, 00:17:43.99\00:17:45.33 but I want to go on to talk about 00:17:45.36\00:17:46.70 the reward because he says, 00:17:46.73\00:17:48.06 if you could tell me what this means, 00:17:48.10\00:17:49.70 I'm gonna reward you, I'm gonna give you, 00:17:49.73\00:17:51.60 I'm gonna clothe you with purple, 00:17:51.63\00:17:52.97 I'm gonna put a gold chain around you 00:17:53.00\00:17:54.50 and, of course, I'm gonna give you 00:17:54.54\00:17:55.87 the third position in all of Babylon. 00:17:55.90\00:17:58.67 Now these obviously 00:17:58.71\00:18:00.04 are representative of something. 00:18:00.08\00:18:01.41 And I just want to highlight that 00:18:01.44\00:18:02.78 because I believe it's vitally important here. 00:18:02.81\00:18:04.31 So notice, purple clothing is a color worn by royalty 00:18:04.35\00:18:08.05 in ancient times, and we can see a correlation 00:18:08.08\00:18:11.05 of this in Esther 8:15. 00:18:11.09\00:18:13.72 So the Bible says in Esther 8:15, 00:18:13.76\00:18:16.06 "So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king 00:18:16.09\00:18:18.76 in royal apparel, 00:18:18.79\00:18:20.76 and blue of blue and white, 00:18:20.80\00:18:22.46 with a great crown of gold 00:18:22.50\00:18:24.10 and a garment of fine linen and purple, 00:18:24.13\00:18:27.20 and the city of Shushan, rejoiced, 00:18:27.24\00:18:29.17 and was glad." 00:18:29.20\00:18:30.54 So the color purple 00:18:30.57\00:18:31.91 is often associated with royalty. 00:18:31.94\00:18:34.18 So, hey, he's saying, look, 00:18:34.21\00:18:35.54 if you could tell me what this means, 00:18:35.58\00:18:36.91 in his terror as his knees are knocking together 00:18:36.95\00:18:39.48 and he's in this fearful state, please tell me what this means. 00:18:39.51\00:18:42.35 And look, I will, 00:18:42.38\00:18:43.72 I will give you the finest clothing 00:18:43.75\00:18:45.09 that you can possibly, again, going to the earthly, 00:18:45.12\00:18:47.82 okay, this is a heavenly situation 00:18:47.86\00:18:49.29 that's happening. 00:18:49.32\00:18:50.66 God has intervened 00:18:50.69\00:18:52.03 and instead of going to the God of heaven and saying, 00:18:52.06\00:18:55.20 you know, and pleading his case, 00:18:55.23\00:18:56.56 I'm going to turn to the elements of the earth. 00:18:56.60\00:18:58.23 I'm gonna clothe you with the finest linens. 00:18:58.27\00:19:00.37 I'm gonna put the nice gold chain 00:19:00.40\00:19:01.74 around your neck. 00:19:01.77\00:19:03.10 And, of course, we know a chain of gold, 00:19:03.14\00:19:04.67 which was a sign of high social status. 00:19:04.71\00:19:07.28 We find a reference to this in Genesis 41:42, 00:19:07.31\00:19:10.81 where the Bible says, 00:19:10.85\00:19:12.18 "Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand 00:19:12.21\00:19:14.95 and put it on Joseph's hand, 00:19:14.98\00:19:16.95 and he clothed him in garments of fine linen, 00:19:16.99\00:19:19.25 and put a gold chain around his neck." 00:19:19.29\00:19:21.72 So here, I'm gonna give you my fine linen, 00:19:21.76\00:19:23.32 I'm gonna put my nice jewelry, 00:19:23.36\00:19:24.69 which is again 00:19:24.73\00:19:26.06 a nice interesting reference to that 00:19:26.09\00:19:27.43 of the harlot in Revelations Chapter 17. 00:19:27.46\00:19:29.43 Because the harlot is seen again, 00:19:29.46\00:19:31.17 she's got the golden cup in her hand, 00:19:31.20\00:19:33.10 she's got all these precious jewels on her, 00:19:33.13\00:19:35.24 and what color is she wearing? 00:19:35.27\00:19:36.84 She's wearing purple and scarlet, 00:19:36.87\00:19:38.54 of course, and so she's full of abominations 00:19:38.57\00:19:40.81 and so notice 00:19:40.84\00:19:42.18 how the king in this very serious spiritual moment 00:19:42.21\00:19:46.08 that God is getting their attention. 00:19:46.11\00:19:48.55 All that this king can do is turn to the elements 00:19:48.58\00:19:51.29 of the earth turn to all the filthy abominations 00:19:51.32\00:19:54.06 that he's called and say, 00:19:54.09\00:19:55.42 I'm gonna reward you with these. 00:19:55.46\00:19:57.06 And it gets me to thinking, 00:19:57.09\00:19:58.43 how many times do we often think 00:19:58.46\00:20:00.23 that our reward should be 00:20:00.26\00:20:02.26 that of the filthy abominations of the world? 00:20:02.30\00:20:04.63 We spend our time sowing and wrapping 00:20:04.67\00:20:06.77 instead of pausing to realize that 00:20:06.80\00:20:08.44 Jesus Christ is trying to write a message 00:20:08.47\00:20:10.77 on our hearts and in our minds to get our attention, 00:20:10.81\00:20:13.64 sometimes we get so caught up and distracted by the themes 00:20:13.68\00:20:16.48 and things of the world that we end up looking 00:20:16.51\00:20:18.88 for the finer things in life to satisfy us, 00:20:18.91\00:20:21.45 put the gold on us, put the ornamental jewelry, 00:20:21.48\00:20:24.22 put the fine clothing, self, self, self, self, self, 00:20:24.25\00:20:27.02 which is what this king was wrapped up in very clearly. 00:20:27.06\00:20:30.83 And, of course, the third position 00:20:30.86\00:20:33.13 in all of the kingdom 00:20:33.16\00:20:34.50 which Jill mentioned very clearly, 00:20:34.53\00:20:36.40 why that would be the case because, 00:20:36.43\00:20:38.13 actually it's interesting, historically, 00:20:38.17\00:20:40.17 many people have tried to discredit 00:20:40.20\00:20:42.60 the validity of Daniel based on Daniel Chapter 5, 00:20:42.64\00:20:45.37 because nowhere in secular history 00:20:45.41\00:20:47.38 is there found a reference to Belshazzar as the king 00:20:47.41\00:20:50.48 or a ruler of Babylon. 00:20:50.51\00:20:51.95 But that was all clarified a few years later 00:20:51.98\00:20:54.52 when they unearthed 00:20:54.55\00:20:56.38 an old ancient tablet of Babylon, 00:20:56.42\00:20:58.22 which it did clarify that He was the son of Nabonidus. 00:20:58.25\00:21:01.89 Nabonidus, is that how you say it, 00:21:01.92\00:21:03.93 which again was the king of Babylon at the time. 00:21:03.96\00:21:06.36 In fact, Ellen White, confirms this in history, 00:21:06.39\00:21:09.56 for those history buffs. 00:21:09.60\00:21:10.93 The Youth's Instructor mentioned, May 19, 1898, 00:21:10.97\00:21:14.44 she says, admitted to a share in kingly authority. 00:21:14.47\00:21:17.74 So notice a share in kingly authority. 00:21:17.77\00:21:19.64 As Jill brought out, he was a coregent, 00:21:19.67\00:21:21.74 not the main king himself, but a co regent, 00:21:21.78\00:21:24.15 because his father Nabonidus, 00:21:24.18\00:21:25.51 had actually went off at this time to an oasis 00:21:25.55\00:21:28.88 to try to be cured of an illness he had. 00:21:28.92\00:21:31.25 But she says, at the age of 15 years old, 00:21:31.29\00:21:33.76 Belshazzar, gloried in his power 00:21:33.79\00:21:36.66 and lifted up his heart against the God of heaven, 00:21:36.69\00:21:39.83 which is evident 00:21:39.86\00:21:41.20 because now we're here in Daniel Chapter 5, 00:21:41.23\00:21:42.73 and we're seeing the results. 00:21:42.76\00:21:44.17 God has showed up and He's saying, 00:21:44.20\00:21:45.57 I'm not having this, right? 00:21:45.60\00:21:47.24 And, of course, in Daniel 5:8, 00:21:47.27\00:21:49.24 which is kind of the capstone of this. 00:21:49.27\00:21:51.47 It says, "Now all the king's wise men came, 00:21:51.51\00:21:55.24 but they could not read the writing." 00:21:55.28\00:21:57.65 He says, hey come on in here and try to read this writing. 00:21:57.68\00:21:59.75 I'm gonna reward you and they show up they're like, 00:21:59.78\00:22:02.38 which is actually interesting 00:22:02.42\00:22:03.75 because it was in their language. 00:22:03.79\00:22:05.39 It was in the language of the Chaldean, 00:22:05.42\00:22:06.99 so they actually could understand 00:22:07.02\00:22:08.86 the individual words, 00:22:08.89\00:22:10.33 but they couldn't make out the meaning 00:22:10.36\00:22:12.59 of what those words were communicating to them 00:22:12.63\00:22:15.13 until Daniel was to show up 00:22:15.16\00:22:16.56 and give the correct interpretation. 00:22:16.60\00:22:19.23 And I think of Isaiah 29:14, 00:22:19.27\00:22:22.30 which kind of shed some light on this, it says, 00:22:22.34\00:22:24.44 "For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, 00:22:24.47\00:22:28.18 and the understanding of their prudent men 00:22:28.21\00:22:30.61 shall be hidden." 00:22:30.65\00:22:31.98 In fact, Paul quoted this very verse. 00:22:32.01\00:22:34.32 And in response to that, 00:22:34.35\00:22:35.68 notice in 1 Corinthians 1:20-21. 00:22:35.72\00:22:39.29 This is what Paul says, 00:22:39.32\00:22:40.66 in reference to what Isaiah says 00:22:40.69\00:22:42.19 in Isaiah 29:14, 00:22:42.22\00:22:44.29 he says, "Where is the wise? 00:22:44.33\00:22:46.43 Where is the scribe? 00:22:46.46\00:22:47.96 Where is the disputer of this age? 00:22:48.00\00:22:50.00 Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 00:22:50.03\00:22:53.94 For since in the wisdom of God, 00:22:53.97\00:22:56.47 the world through wisdom did not know God, 00:22:56.50\00:22:59.01 it please God through foolishness 00:22:59.04\00:23:01.11 of the message preached to save those who believe." 00:23:01.14\00:23:04.58 And so here we are in this world, 00:23:04.61\00:23:06.28 just like at this party. 00:23:06.31\00:23:07.88 We're partying up with no care in the world. 00:23:07.92\00:23:09.88 We think we're so wise as Daniel 00:23:09.92\00:23:11.52 is going to tell us later 00:23:11.55\00:23:12.89 at the end of the Book of Daniel, 00:23:12.92\00:23:14.56 that in the last days, knowledge shall increase. 00:23:14.59\00:23:17.09 We have all this wisdom, 00:23:17.13\00:23:18.59 but God is knocking on the door of our hearts 00:23:18.63\00:23:20.46 saying, "Please open, 00:23:20.50\00:23:21.83 you're not as wise as you think. 00:23:21.86\00:23:23.20 But if you make Me, if you allow Me to come in, 00:23:23.23\00:23:25.53 and renovate and change your heart and mind," 00:23:25.57\00:23:27.80 as he wanted to do to Belshazzar, 00:23:27.84\00:23:30.77 He says, "I will make you clean, 00:23:30.81\00:23:32.14 I will make you new," 00:23:32.17\00:23:33.51 but, of course, we have to be willing, 00:23:33.54\00:23:35.04 we have to be humble. 00:23:35.08\00:23:36.58 Thank you so much Pastor Ryan, incredible job. 00:23:36.61\00:23:40.22 It's amazing to me just to see the judgment of God 00:23:40.25\00:23:43.32 descend as it were upon Babylon. 00:23:43.35\00:23:45.45 Stay with us. 00:23:45.49\00:23:46.82 We're going to take a short break. 00:23:46.86\00:23:48.19 We'll be right back. 00:23:48.22\00:23:49.56 Ever wish you could watch 00:23:54.06\00:23:55.40 a 3ABN Sabbath School Panel again, 00:23:55.43\00:23:57.57 or share it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter? That's right. 00:25:46.01\00:25:47.34 It said, "I say thy father made master of the magicians, 00:25:47.38\00:25:50.05 astrologers, Chaldeans and the soothsayers, 00:25:50.08\00:25:52.81 for as much as an excellent spirit 00:25:52.85\00:25:54.72 and knowledge and understanding 00:25:54.75\00:25:56.48 in interpreting dreams 00:25:56.52\00:25:57.99 and showing the hard sentences." 00:25:58.02\00:26:00.46 So she goes on and just says, 00:26:00.49\00:26:02.42 "Let Daniel be called 00:26:02.46\00:26:03.79 and he will show the interpretation." 00:26:03.83\00:26:06.56 There I'm saying faith exercised, aren't you 00:26:06.59\00:26:08.26 right there and there? 00:26:08.30\00:26:09.76 Her knowledge of the situation 00:26:09.80\00:26:11.17 because there was not very many around, evidently, 00:26:11.20\00:26:13.03 that had this knowledge at this point in time. 00:26:13.07\00:26:15.17 So I'm like you when you brought up 00:26:15.20\00:26:17.51 there, both of you did, the scene was in fact 00:26:17.54\00:26:19.84 was one of festivity. 00:26:19.87\00:26:22.04 There was something going on, 00:26:22.08\00:26:23.41 it got a little, may I say a little bit wild. 00:26:23.45\00:26:25.15 They were drinking, when you drink, 00:26:25.18\00:26:26.51 sometimes maybe you get a little bit wild, 00:26:26.55\00:26:27.98 so the Bible called it a great feast. 00:26:28.02\00:26:29.92 So they were things 00:26:29.95\00:26:31.29 that was going on that you and I 00:26:31.32\00:26:32.65 probably wouldn't want to be around. 00:26:32.69\00:26:34.02 But the people called it a good time. 00:26:34.06\00:26:36.86 You know, they're not sure where they're at. 00:26:36.89\00:26:38.26 They're not sure what they're doing, 00:26:38.29\00:26:39.69 but they call it a good time. 00:26:39.73\00:26:41.26 And on the morning when they wake up, 00:26:41.30\00:26:42.93 they're not sure what they did. 00:26:42.96\00:26:44.93 And they're not feeling real well. 00:26:44.97\00:26:46.70 And yes, they still call it a good time. 00:26:46.74\00:26:48.54 I don't care for those kinds. 00:26:48.57\00:26:49.90 The king felt good. He felt good at his feast. 00:26:49.94\00:26:52.47 And he was, in fact, I think the custom was, 00:26:52.51\00:26:55.44 when they used to had some of these get-togethers, 00:26:55.48\00:26:58.38 that the king actually had another room 00:26:58.41\00:27:00.15 that he would eat in and drink in. 00:27:00.18\00:27:02.68 And so here, but he was feeling so good, 00:27:02.72\00:27:04.79 he wanted to be with all the people, 00:27:04.82\00:27:06.15 so he was... 00:27:06.19\00:27:07.52 It's interesting, I believe the Lord had this all arranged, 00:27:07.56\00:27:10.43 because the people needed to see his reaction 00:27:10.46\00:27:13.09 when that writing we see was up on the wall. 00:27:13.13\00:27:15.73 And so he was out there where it could be seen. 00:27:15.76\00:27:17.63 And so that would challenge them too 00:27:17.67\00:27:19.27 to make the right decisions and choices. 00:27:19.30\00:27:22.44 And so, apparently, again, 00:27:22.47\00:27:23.97 yeah, I think you mentioned that 00:27:24.01\00:27:25.34 it was in the language where, what would be the excuse 00:27:25.37\00:27:27.84 that they couldn't read it? 00:27:27.88\00:27:29.21 Right. 00:27:29.24\00:27:30.58 You know, the whole room was lit up 00:27:30.61\00:27:31.95 so everybody could see it. 00:27:31.98\00:27:33.31 When they were having a good time. 00:27:33.35\00:27:34.68 They're having a good time. 00:27:34.72\00:27:36.05 So maybe their letters weren't all out there 00:27:36.08\00:27:38.15 where they could really read it. 00:27:38.19\00:27:39.52 So there was a reason for that for sure. 00:27:39.55\00:27:41.42 No one could decipher it. 00:27:41.46\00:27:42.79 Here as I was reading, no one can decipher it. 00:27:42.82\00:27:45.89 There must have been a reason once again. 00:27:45.93\00:27:47.93 But first thing that happened once again, 00:27:47.96\00:27:50.30 this is, this has been true throughout here to begin with, 00:27:50.33\00:27:53.17 who do they call? 00:27:53.20\00:27:54.94 They called the leaders, 00:27:54.97\00:27:58.44 they called the magicians, and, you know, 00:27:58.47\00:28:01.41 soothsayers and everybody else 00:28:01.44\00:28:02.94 in to interpret here 00:28:02.98\00:28:04.55 what they should have right quick 00:28:04.58\00:28:06.01 have learned a lesson, 00:28:06.05\00:28:07.38 and called upon the God of heaven. 00:28:07.42\00:28:09.18 But no doubt, no doubt 00:28:09.22\00:28:11.85 what was happening is under divine direction here, 00:28:11.89\00:28:14.46 with the words that kingdom was to pass away, 00:28:14.49\00:28:16.79 it was brought up by Sister Jill, 00:28:16.83\00:28:18.33 right here these words were so important 00:28:18.36\00:28:20.13 because the kingdom was to pass away. 00:28:20.16\00:28:22.43 The probation was closed for the king, 00:28:22.46\00:28:25.27 it was closed for the kingdom, 00:28:25.30\00:28:27.37 and it was closed for those 00:28:27.40\00:28:28.90 who would follow after the king or the kingdom. 00:28:28.94\00:28:31.41 So probation was closed for an awful lot of folks here. 00:28:31.44\00:28:34.04 And then why, then all then would understand 00:28:34.08\00:28:36.91 what was been going on here what man and God 00:28:36.95\00:28:39.95 and their relationship, what they've been doing 00:28:39.98\00:28:41.98 against God was brought very, very clear. 00:28:42.02\00:28:44.59 This message I believe is given to the king, 00:28:44.62\00:28:47.79 just the way that heaven ordained it to be. 00:28:47.82\00:28:50.99 You know, a lot of times 00:28:51.03\00:28:52.36 but God gives you a message to give 00:28:52.39\00:28:53.73 and maybe He's impressing, you know, 00:28:53.76\00:28:55.30 sometime pastors and leaders 00:28:55.33\00:28:56.77 sometime to maybe talk to an individual 00:28:56.80\00:28:59.00 or bring a message 00:28:59.03\00:29:00.44 and sometime we don't want to do that 00:29:00.47\00:29:01.80 for fear of hurting or making the situation worse. 00:29:01.84\00:29:05.41 But if God gives us that, you know, whatever it might be, 00:29:05.44\00:29:09.28 that message, we need to give it 00:29:09.31\00:29:10.98 and I believe just exactly the way 00:29:11.01\00:29:12.35 that God said to give the message. 00:29:12.38\00:29:14.68 You know, I can bring it from an illustration 00:29:14.72\00:29:16.75 I didn't want to do many, many years ago. 00:29:16.79\00:29:19.65 I had an elder who, 00:29:19.69\00:29:21.02 his life was one and I'll just talk about it, 00:29:21.06\00:29:23.83 he's gone now. 00:29:23.86\00:29:25.29 He was a smoker. 00:29:25.33\00:29:26.66 He accepted the message, came into the church, 00:29:26.70\00:29:28.76 but he continued to do it. 00:29:28.80\00:29:30.90 And so the Lord impressed on my mind 00:29:30.93\00:29:32.43 after several years of this, he said, 00:29:32.47\00:29:34.30 I want you to go to this man. 00:29:34.34\00:29:35.97 And I want you to tell him what he's doing 00:29:36.00\00:29:38.97 and that it needs to be changed. 00:29:39.01\00:29:41.44 Well, I made some excuses. 00:29:41.48\00:29:42.81 I didn't want to quite 00:29:42.84\00:29:44.18 give the message quite like that. 00:29:44.21\00:29:45.55 Because he's not only a good friend, 00:29:45.58\00:29:46.92 but an elder of the church and so on so forth. 00:29:46.95\00:29:48.42 The Lord impressed my mind, 00:29:48.45\00:29:50.02 give it just as I give it to you, 00:29:50.05\00:29:51.85 I want you to sit down, I want you to talk to him. 00:29:51.89\00:29:53.79 You do it in love. 00:29:53.82\00:29:55.16 You do it out of concern, 00:29:55.19\00:29:56.52 but you'll say I'm impressed with this, 00:29:56.56\00:29:57.99 it's what's taking place in your life 00:29:58.03\00:29:59.73 and also put yourself out there. 00:29:59.76\00:30:01.46 And if I be wrong with that, 00:30:01.50\00:30:02.90 I will apologize to you for that. 00:30:02.93\00:30:05.13 But I'm very much impressed 00:30:05.17\00:30:06.50 and I can't get any rest until I bring it. 00:30:06.53\00:30:08.07 It was a fact. 00:30:08.10\00:30:09.67 He broke down in tears and said yes, for years I have, 00:30:09.70\00:30:12.47 and listen to this, I have been praying, 00:30:12.51\00:30:15.38 he said, for months, 00:30:15.41\00:30:17.01 that God would bring somebody and just expose me, 00:30:17.05\00:30:20.55 that was kind of interesting way, 00:30:20.58\00:30:22.05 and expose me, and then I would know that 00:30:22.08\00:30:24.65 God would be more merciful. 00:30:24.69\00:30:26.86 He would give me the grace 00:30:26.89\00:30:28.22 and the strength to gain this victory 00:30:28.26\00:30:29.69 which I have so desired and I so wanted 00:30:29.72\00:30:32.09 and now I believe it's the day 00:30:32.13\00:30:33.50 and you know what it was the day? 00:30:33.53\00:30:35.16 It was the day that God give him victory 00:30:35.20\00:30:36.93 over those things. 00:30:36.97\00:30:38.43 You know, when all else fails, 00:30:38.47\00:30:40.57 as we read these few verses here right quick, 00:30:40.60\00:30:42.37 when all else failed, calling all the wise men 00:30:42.40\00:30:45.27 and so but nothing worked. 00:30:45.31\00:30:46.78 And so finally here come the Queen, 00:30:46.81\00:30:49.71 here come the Queen. 00:30:49.74\00:30:51.08 She come in, right? 00:30:51.11\00:30:52.45 She was allowed to come in before her son 00:30:52.48\00:30:55.08 without possibly being put to death, 00:30:55.12\00:30:57.25 even his wife, right, 00:30:57.29\00:30:58.79 even the wife could not do that without permission of the king. 00:30:58.82\00:31:02.12 But she came in without fear of death. 00:31:02.16\00:31:04.36 And so she made a quite an announcement here. 00:31:04.39\00:31:07.26 Said that, you know, what do we want 00:31:07.30\00:31:08.63 to do right here is why don't you go back? 00:31:08.66\00:31:10.80 Don't you remember? 00:31:10.83\00:31:12.17 I liked it when I was reading that passage right there. 00:31:12.20\00:31:14.37 She was saying, 00:31:14.40\00:31:15.74 why don't you go back to the one 00:31:15.77\00:31:17.11 that we know that did something before? 00:31:17.14\00:31:20.34 And then, of course, 00:31:20.38\00:31:21.71 didn't want to do that at first. 00:31:21.74\00:31:23.08 Why was Daniel not called to begin with? 00:31:23.11\00:31:25.78 Why was he not? 00:31:25.81\00:31:27.15 Well, I think it had been mentioned here 00:31:27.18\00:31:28.52 because he was out of service, 00:31:28.55\00:31:29.88 isn't that right after Nebuchadnezzar passed away. 00:31:29.92\00:31:32.62 Then after several years 00:31:32.65\00:31:33.99 that he was kind of out of commission, 00:31:34.02\00:31:35.62 I guess he wasn't there in that position. 00:31:35.66\00:31:37.66 And so they didn't think about calling him 00:31:37.69\00:31:40.73 or maybe they didn't want to hear from him. 00:31:40.76\00:31:42.90 You know, it was a new generation 00:31:42.93\00:31:44.27 that was on the scene. 00:31:44.30\00:31:45.63 And sometime the new generation 00:31:45.67\00:31:47.00 doesn't want to hear 00:31:47.04\00:31:48.37 what the older folk sometime have to say, 00:31:48.40\00:31:50.34 when there's certainly, 00:31:50.37\00:31:51.71 you know, wisdom and counsel here. 00:31:51.74\00:31:53.61 And so the king's mother came in, 00:31:53.64\00:31:55.71 she knew what had happened, 00:31:55.74\00:31:58.45 you know with her husband, she knew about it 00:31:58.48\00:32:00.08 and so, she just said, 00:32:00.12\00:32:02.48 there's someone who can interpret this. 00:32:02.52\00:32:04.89 And you need to bring him in 00:32:04.92\00:32:06.25 because we need to know what's going on 00:32:06.29\00:32:07.89 because they knew, he knew, right? 00:32:07.92\00:32:10.16 He knew when this was going on, 00:32:10.19\00:32:12.03 Belshazzar that something big was about to happen. 00:32:12.06\00:32:16.13 Because it did, it was talking about, 00:32:16.16\00:32:17.60 he was... 00:32:17.63\00:32:18.97 He went to pieces, 00:32:19.00\00:32:20.34 may I use that, he went to pieces. 00:32:20.37\00:32:21.70 You said he's quivering and he's shaking. 00:32:21.74\00:32:23.20 You know, there he was, 00:32:23.24\00:32:24.57 he was before his people. 00:32:24.61\00:32:25.94 The king's not supposed to quiver 00:32:25.97\00:32:27.31 and shake and carry on. 00:32:27.34\00:32:28.68 But I think maybe he, ooh boy, 00:32:28.71\00:32:30.51 I think maybe he lost control of everything. 00:32:30.55\00:32:34.52 That happens, you know, in times of war, 00:32:34.55\00:32:36.38 and different things like that, 00:32:36.42\00:32:37.75 when you get so nervous and you're so torn up. 00:32:37.79\00:32:39.65 I just didn't want to say that, 00:32:39.69\00:32:41.02 but I think maybe lost bodily function, 00:32:41.06\00:32:42.82 so on so forth, to the point 00:32:42.86\00:32:44.46 that I'm talking about he was humiliated, 00:32:44.49\00:32:46.06 he was embarrassed and things 00:32:46.09\00:32:47.43 that the king wouldn't want it to be out, 00:32:47.46\00:32:49.26 because God was bringing him down 00:32:49.30\00:32:51.67 to where God has said he need to be. 00:32:51.70\00:32:53.74 So mom helps out here, she comes to get his attention. 00:32:53.77\00:32:56.34 Daniel 5:11, the last part, 00:32:56.37\00:32:58.67 she said again, the king, son, the king. 00:32:58.71\00:33:03.35 And he's going, Oh, oh, he's all shook up, right? 00:33:03.38\00:33:05.65 What do you mean the king? 00:33:05.68\00:33:07.02 She said thy grandfather, the king. 00:33:07.05\00:33:09.98 Listen, Son, I say, so she comes back again. 00:33:10.02\00:33:13.52 Son, the king. 00:33:13.56\00:33:14.89 I say, listen to me, I say the grandfather, 00:33:14.92\00:33:17.03 notice it, made him master, 00:33:17.06\00:33:19.59 Daniel master of all the magicians, 00:33:19.63\00:33:21.23 astrologers, and the Chaldeans and the soothsayers. 00:33:21.26\00:33:24.73 And I certainly love Daniel 5:12, 00:33:24.77\00:33:26.80 the last line, the queen said, notice it, 00:33:26.84\00:33:29.64 and I believe she said as we talked about in faith, 00:33:29.67\00:33:32.14 believing, I believe, notice this, 00:33:32.17\00:33:34.18 let Daniel be called and he will do what? 00:33:34.21\00:33:37.61 Give the interpretation. 00:33:37.65\00:33:39.11 He will give the interpretation. 00:33:39.15\00:33:41.28 So here we see what? 00:33:41.32\00:33:42.65 We see faith in operation. 00:33:42.68\00:33:45.25 She knew it, she had experienced it. 00:33:45.29\00:33:47.56 She was one of the few in the kingdom 00:33:47.59\00:33:49.36 that had this knowledge of who Daniel was 00:33:49.39\00:33:51.89 and what he did before. 00:33:51.93\00:33:53.40 And sometimes that takes that, you know, in ministry, 00:33:53.43\00:33:56.97 it takes it in churches, 00:33:57.00\00:33:58.33 it takes it that you need people with, 00:33:58.37\00:34:00.10 I say experience 00:34:00.14\00:34:01.47 but gray hair, 00:34:01.50\00:34:02.84 because they're going to be pillars 00:34:02.87\00:34:04.21 and because they have learned a lot... 00:34:04.24\00:34:05.57 That's right. 00:34:05.61\00:34:06.94 From life through, really experience 00:34:06.98\00:34:08.41 and sometimes there's been good, 00:34:08.44\00:34:09.78 there's been bad, but they get experiences. 00:34:09.81\00:34:12.18 And so it's good to gain counsel 00:34:12.21\00:34:13.95 and ask counsel and wisdom. 00:34:13.98\00:34:15.85 And when she knew this, 00:34:15.88\00:34:17.22 she wanted to bring it to her son, 00:34:17.25\00:34:18.59 because she knew something bad, I believe was about to happen. 00:34:18.62\00:34:21.52 It needs to be deciphered because 00:34:21.56\00:34:23.79 God was still sitting on His throne. 00:34:23.83\00:34:25.69 God was still working, 00:34:25.73\00:34:27.06 but He was bringing down a kingdom, 00:34:27.10\00:34:28.83 preparing for the next kingdom to come up, 00:34:28.86\00:34:32.20 because all nations and all people 00:34:32.23\00:34:34.00 are given just a certain amount of time. 00:34:34.04\00:34:37.17 That's probationary time that God gives to everybody. 00:34:37.21\00:34:40.11 And that shows us certainly from Babylon, 00:34:40.14\00:34:41.74 Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome 00:34:41.78\00:34:43.11 and it goes on down to the kingdoms. 00:34:43.14\00:34:44.48 So let's make sure you make your right choice 00:34:44.51\00:34:45.88 and your right decision 00:34:45.91\00:34:47.25 because your time may be coming, 00:34:47.28\00:34:48.62 there's writing on the wall. 00:34:48.65\00:34:52.12 Wednesday, Weighed and Found Wanting. Oh my. 00:34:52.15\00:34:56.52 So here the armies of Medo-Persia 00:34:56.56\00:35:02.03 had Babylon surrounded. 00:35:02.06\00:35:04.17 The young king is in there having, 00:35:04.20\00:35:06.57 he's partying hardy. 00:35:06.60\00:35:08.77 When the fingers of the man's hand 00:35:08.80\00:35:11.97 write this on the wall, this thought occurred to me. 00:35:12.01\00:35:15.24 When have we seen the finger of God write anything, 00:35:15.28\00:35:19.48 in Scripture before? 00:35:19.51\00:35:20.85 Ten Commandments. 00:35:20.88\00:35:22.22 The Ten Commandments. 00:35:22.25\00:35:23.59 If this is God's finger, 00:35:23.62\00:35:25.85 this is the other thing that God has written. 00:35:25.89\00:35:28.16 That's right. 00:35:28.19\00:35:29.82 I mean, that's kind of an interesting thought. 00:35:29.86\00:35:31.79 So the king and the sages certainly sensed 00:35:31.83\00:35:37.53 that there was something ominous 00:35:37.57\00:35:40.47 about this message that they... 00:35:40.50\00:35:42.27 It was a cryptic message. 00:35:42.30\00:35:44.14 They couldn't decode it. 00:35:44.17\00:35:47.11 So now forced by circumstances, 00:35:47.14\00:35:50.91 the king reluctantly calls Daniel 00:35:50.95\00:35:54.62 and you think about this, 00:35:54.65\00:35:56.99 the God that the king 00:35:57.02\00:36:00.16 was mocking was Daniel's God, 00:36:00.19\00:36:03.99 he knew that. 00:36:04.03\00:36:05.69 So let's look at verse 13. Daniel 5:13, 00:36:05.73\00:36:09.76 "Daniel was brought in before the king 00:36:09.80\00:36:11.53 and the king spoke and said to Daniel, 00:36:11.57\00:36:14.04 'Are you that Daniel, 00:36:14.07\00:36:15.80 who is one of the captives from Judah, 00:36:15.84\00:36:17.87 whom my father the king brought from Judah. 00:36:17.91\00:36:20.64 I have heard of you that the Spirit of God is in you, 00:36:20.68\00:36:25.21 and that light and understanding 00:36:25.25\00:36:26.85 excellent wisdom are found in you.' 00:36:26.88\00:36:30.09 Now, the wise men, 00:36:30.12\00:36:31.45 the astrologers have been brought 00:36:31.49\00:36:33.99 in before me, 00:36:34.02\00:36:35.69 that they should read this writing 00:36:35.72\00:36:37.19 and make known to me its interpretation, 00:36:37.23\00:36:39.79 but they cannot, 00:36:39.83\00:36:41.30 they cannot give the interpretation of the thing 00:36:41.33\00:36:43.93 and I have heard of you, twice he said that, 00:36:43.97\00:36:47.57 that you can give interpretations 00:36:47.60\00:36:49.37 and explain enigmas. 00:36:49.40\00:36:51.01 Now, if you can read the writing 00:36:51.04\00:36:53.17 and make known to me its interpretation, 00:36:53.21\00:36:55.84 you shall be clothed with purple 00:36:55.88\00:36:58.35 and have a chain of gold around your neck, 00:36:58.38\00:37:02.58 and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom. 00:37:02.62\00:37:04.59 And Daniel answered and said before the king, 00:37:04.62\00:37:07.52 let your gifts be for yourself, 00:37:07.56\00:37:10.99 give your rewards to another, 00:37:11.03\00:37:14.26 yet I will read the writing to the king 00:37:14.30\00:37:16.56 and make known to him the interpretation. 00:37:16.60\00:37:20.00 First of all, let's point this out. 00:37:20.04\00:37:22.60 Daniel's character, his priorities, 00:37:22.64\00:37:24.51 he's not interested in the reward. 00:37:24.54\00:37:26.71 He's wanting to be God's man still. 00:37:26.74\00:37:29.94 That's right. And you know what else? 00:37:29.98\00:37:33.21 Because he understood the message, 00:37:33.25\00:37:37.29 he knew the rewards were worthless, 00:37:37.32\00:37:39.35 because Babylon is going to be conquered 00:37:39.39\00:37:42.22 that very night. 00:37:42.26\00:37:43.59 So the rewards would be non-existent, right? 00:37:43.63\00:37:47.50 Interestingly, he did not demonstrate 00:37:47.53\00:37:50.13 the same level of respect to Belshazzar 00:37:50.17\00:37:53.37 as he had to Nebuchadnezzar. 00:37:53.40\00:37:56.00 I mean, this is kind of interesting 00:37:56.04\00:37:58.17 and I'm sure it's because he's rebuking him 00:37:58.21\00:38:01.44 because Belshazzar has taken 00:38:01.48\00:38:06.88 and defied the Lord by using these temples, 00:38:06.92\00:38:10.35 these holy vessels from the temple 00:38:10.39\00:38:12.85 in an unholy way. 00:38:12.89\00:38:14.32 He has profaned God. 00:38:14.36\00:38:15.69 So listen to verse 18, "O King, 00:38:15.72\00:38:17.86 the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar, 00:38:17.89\00:38:20.30 your father, the kingdom, the majesty, glory and honor 00:38:20.33\00:38:24.10 and because of the majesty that he gave him, 00:38:24.13\00:38:26.33 all peoples nations and languages trembled 00:38:26.37\00:38:29.17 and feared before him, 00:38:29.20\00:38:31.07 whomever he wished, he executed, 00:38:31.11\00:38:32.74 whomever he wished, he kept alive. 00:38:32.77\00:38:36.18 Whomever he wished, he set up, 00:38:36.21\00:38:38.15 whomever he wished, he put down, 00:38:38.18\00:38:40.58 but when his heart was lifted up, 00:38:40.62\00:38:43.59 and his spirit was hardened in pride, 00:38:43.62\00:38:45.85 he was deposed from his kingly throne. 00:38:45.89\00:38:48.09 They took the glory from him, driven from the sons of men. 00:38:48.12\00:38:52.39 His heart was made like the beast 00:38:52.43\00:38:55.26 and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. 00:38:55.30\00:38:57.80 They fed him with grass like oxen. 00:38:57.83\00:39:00.00 And his body was wet with the dew of heaven, 00:39:00.04\00:39:03.20 till he knew that the Most High God rules 00:39:03.24\00:39:07.38 in the kingdom of men 00:39:07.41\00:39:08.88 and appoints over it whomever He chooses. 00:39:08.91\00:39:13.38 But you his son, Belshazzar, 00:39:13.42\00:39:17.32 have not humbled to your heart although 00:39:17.35\00:39:21.32 you knew all of this." 00:39:21.36\00:39:24.79 Belshazzar was old enough to know all of this. 00:39:24.83\00:39:28.93 "You have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. 00:39:28.96\00:39:33.44 They brought the vessels of this house before you, 00:39:33.47\00:39:35.74 you and your lords, your wives, 00:39:35.77\00:39:37.14 your concubines, have drunk wine from them, 00:39:37.17\00:39:41.04 and you have praised the gods of silver, gold, 00:39:41.08\00:39:45.11 bronze, iron, wood and stone, 00:39:45.15\00:39:47.28 which do not see or hear or know. 00:39:47.32\00:39:50.45 And the God who holds your breath 00:39:50.49\00:39:54.16 in his hands and owns all of your ways, 00:39:54.19\00:39:57.79 you have not glorified." 00:39:57.83\00:40:01.56 So here we have Daniel reprimanding Belshazzar for 00:40:01.60\00:40:06.77 all of his failure, his failures on several counts. 00:40:06.80\00:40:10.87 And as I said, Belshazzar knew, he was old enough 00:40:10.91\00:40:14.54 to know Nebuchadnezzar's story, 00:40:14.58\00:40:17.98 but he completely ignored it, 00:40:18.01\00:40:19.48 otherwise he would have repented 00:40:19.51\00:40:21.78 and humbled himself. 00:40:21.82\00:40:23.79 So here he is taking the vessels of God. 00:40:23.82\00:40:28.49 He is exalting himself and blaspheming God 00:40:28.52\00:40:32.16 by drinking this wine from it, 00:40:32.19\00:40:34.70 and he neglected the God 00:40:34.73\00:40:37.13 who held his breath in his hand. 00:40:37.17\00:40:40.54 He was guilty of pride, blasphemy, idolatry, 00:40:40.57\00:40:46.44 and failing to glorify God, 00:40:46.47\00:40:48.44 so for these reasons, 00:40:48.48\00:40:50.11 the writing on the wall in three Aramaic words. 00:40:50.15\00:40:54.02 Now the first word is repeated. 00:40:54.05\00:40:55.38 Let's get to that. 00:40:55.42\00:40:56.75 This is a message of judgment and doom. 00:40:56.79\00:40:59.35 "The fingers of the hand were sent from him." 00:40:59.39\00:41:03.49 They were sent from God, "this writing was written," 00:41:03.53\00:41:06.70 I'm reading verse 24. 00:41:06.73\00:41:08.66 "And this is the inscription that was written," 00:41:08.70\00:41:10.97 this is Daniel speaking, 00:41:11.00\00:41:12.77 "MENE, MENE, TEKEL UPHARSSIN." 00:41:12.80\00:41:18.07 Mene means numbered. 00:41:18.11\00:41:21.78 Now, he doubled that for the stronger emphasis, 00:41:21.81\00:41:27.32 MENE, MENE. 00:41:27.35\00:41:29.02 TEKEL means weighed or assessed. 00:41:29.05\00:41:33.42 So this is the God who weighs actions. 00:41:33.46\00:41:38.36 UPHARSSIN, okay, let's look at that. 00:41:38.39\00:41:41.20 'U' in front of the word PHARSSIN, 00:41:41.23\00:41:43.37 PHARSSIN is the plural of PHARIS, 00:41:43.40\00:41:47.64 which actually PHARIS means to be divided. 00:41:47.67\00:41:52.87 So PHARSSIN is the plural. 00:41:52.91\00:41:54.84 U in front of it just and, so he is saying 00:41:54.88\00:41:58.71 and this is the interpretation of each word. 00:41:58.75\00:42:01.48 MENE, God has numbered your kingdom and finished. 00:42:01.52\00:42:04.45 TEKEL, you've been weighed in the balances 00:42:04.49\00:42:08.16 and found wanting. 00:42:08.19\00:42:09.86 That's the worst thing that, to me, 00:42:09.89\00:42:11.79 that could be happened. 00:42:11.83\00:42:13.23 PHARIS, your kingdom has been divided 00:42:13.26\00:42:16.67 and given to the Medes and the Persians. 00:42:16.70\00:42:22.30 Babylon would be destroyed and dissolved 00:42:22.34\00:42:25.64 that very night would be taken over 00:42:25.67\00:42:29.04 by the Medo-Persian Empire. 00:42:29.08\00:42:34.18 Judgment came swiftly upon Belshazzar, 00:42:34.22\00:42:39.69 and what we need to do is learn to trust God in 00:42:39.72\00:42:43.06 cases when judgment doesn't always come swiftly. 00:42:43.09\00:42:46.70 Let me read just a few references here. 00:42:46.73\00:42:50.53 Ecclesiastes 3:17 00:42:50.57\00:42:54.74 says, Solomon writes, 00:42:54.77\00:42:56.91 "I said in my heart God shall judge the righteous 00:42:56.94\00:43:01.08 and the wicked, for there is a time 00:43:01.11\00:43:05.38 for every purpose and for every work." 00:43:05.41\00:43:09.02 Solomon again writes in Ecclesiastes 8:11, 00:43:09.05\00:43:14.52 "Because the sentence against an evil work 00:43:14.56\00:43:17.33 is not executed speedily. 00:43:17.36\00:43:20.56 Therefore, the heart of the sons of men 00:43:20.60\00:43:23.37 is fully set on them to do evil." 00:43:23.40\00:43:25.43 Sometimes people think 00:43:25.47\00:43:26.80 they're getting away with something 00:43:26.84\00:43:28.64 when they don't see it. 00:43:28.67\00:43:30.17 And then in Ecclesiastes 12:14, he says, 00:43:30.21\00:43:33.01 "God will bring 00:43:33.04\00:43:36.01 every work into judgment, 00:43:36.04\00:43:40.32 including every secret thing, whether good or evil." 00:43:40.35\00:43:45.75 You can't hide anything from God. 00:43:45.79\00:43:48.56 So I think that Paul echoes 00:43:48.59\00:43:53.70 what Solomon wrote in Romans 14:12 00:43:53.73\00:43:57.67 and here's, here's the summation of it all. 00:43:57.70\00:44:00.74 "So then each of us shall give account 00:44:00.77\00:44:05.74 of himself to God." 00:44:05.77\00:44:08.34 We don't want to be found, 00:44:08.38\00:44:10.58 weighed in the balance in wanting. 00:44:10.61\00:44:14.05 You know, salvation is not by work, 00:44:14.08\00:44:16.25 salvation is by grace alone. 00:44:16.28\00:44:18.35 But when we enter 00:44:18.39\00:44:19.72 into a covenant relationship with God, 00:44:19.75\00:44:22.29 we are to obey Him to show our covenant, 00:44:22.32\00:44:27.33 love and loyalty to Him. 00:44:27.36\00:44:29.66 And we certainly God has a standard. 00:44:29.70\00:44:34.14 God is going to judge everything 00:44:34.17\00:44:38.37 that we've done, 00:44:38.41\00:44:39.74 every work will come into judgment. 00:44:39.77\00:44:42.04 And we're all going to have to give 00:44:42.08\00:44:44.18 an account of our self before the Lord. 00:44:44.21\00:44:47.38 Amen. Amen, thank you. 00:44:47.42\00:44:50.29 You know, when we talk about Babylon, 00:44:50.32\00:44:51.82 which we have been focusing on in this particular study, 00:44:51.85\00:44:55.42 we find that there's some amazing parallels. 00:44:55.46\00:44:57.83 And I know that Jill 00:44:57.86\00:44:59.19 and all of you brought this out, 00:44:59.23\00:45:00.56 between the Babylon of Daniel's day 00:45:00.60\00:45:02.46 and the Babylon of John's day, 00:45:02.50\00:45:04.53 or the Babylon of antiquity 00:45:04.57\00:45:06.53 and the Babylon of spiritual application 00:45:06.57\00:45:09.90 in the end time. 00:45:09.94\00:45:11.27 I thought it was kind of... 00:45:11.31\00:45:13.64 I think, needless to say, useless to give someone 00:45:13.68\00:45:17.75 any kind of recognition of honor 00:45:17.78\00:45:19.98 when your kingdom just ended. 00:45:20.02\00:45:22.18 You're gonna be third in my kingdom 00:45:22.22\00:45:23.59 that's ending in 10 minutes. 00:45:23.62\00:45:25.85 You know, that's kind of what Belshazzar was, 00:45:25.89\00:45:28.32 in fact, saying, "My kingdom is coming to an end, 00:45:28.36\00:45:31.29 so therefore, 00:45:31.33\00:45:32.66 I won't need this anymore, so put it on him." 00:45:32.69\00:45:35.00 And that was an amazing thing. 00:45:35.03\00:45:36.87 We find though, what I wanna point out, 00:45:36.90\00:45:39.30 is the reasons why Babylon came to an end. 00:45:39.33\00:45:42.24 Now, we know that Nebuchadnezzar had a dream 00:45:42.27\00:45:46.81 of four worldly empires. 00:45:46.84\00:45:49.51 Later on, when we get to Daniel 7, 00:45:49.54\00:45:51.28 we're gonna see that Daniel 00:45:51.31\00:45:53.45 has a vision of these four empires. 00:45:53.48\00:45:56.05 But the real questions I'd like to list right here, 00:45:56.08\00:45:58.92 reasons for Babylon's fall. 00:45:58.95\00:46:00.96 First of all, let's go to Jeremiah 51:7. 00:46:00.99\00:46:05.49 Jeremiah 51:7. 00:46:05.53\00:46:08.03 We know that one of the things 00:46:08.06\00:46:09.46 that Belshazzar did was he poured wine 00:46:09.50\00:46:11.53 into the vessels of the Lord. 00:46:11.57\00:46:14.20 And let's see what that wine did. 00:46:14.24\00:46:17.27 Not only did it defile the vessels of the Lord, 00:46:17.31\00:46:20.48 but it had an effect to it. 00:46:20.51\00:46:22.34 Jeremiah 51:7, 00:46:22.38\00:46:24.58 "Babylon was a golden cup in the Lord's hand, 00:46:24.61\00:46:28.55 that made all the earth drunk." 00:46:28.58\00:46:31.89 Same comparison in Revelation 17 and 18. 00:46:31.92\00:46:35.29 "The nations drank her wine, 00:46:35.32\00:46:37.56 therefore, the nations are deranged." 00:46:37.59\00:46:40.53 Now let's go... 00:46:40.56\00:46:41.90 We know that the ancient Babylon 00:46:41.93\00:46:43.26 is destroyed, 00:46:43.30\00:46:44.63 but Babylon is a coalition. It's a coalition. 00:46:44.67\00:46:48.80 It's not just a religious power, 00:46:48.84\00:46:51.44 it's a satanic power, 00:46:51.47\00:46:53.88 it's a religiously corrupt power, 00:46:53.91\00:46:56.71 and it's a spiritually corrupt power. 00:46:56.75\00:46:59.91 So let's bring out a few things here. 00:46:59.95\00:47:02.05 And I get it in, you know, get to that in just a moment. 00:47:02.08\00:47:05.05 So the first reason why Babylon was destroyed 00:47:05.09\00:47:07.26 is because of the defilement. 00:47:07.29\00:47:09.62 That is still happening today. 00:47:09.66\00:47:11.43 The nations of the earth, 00:47:11.46\00:47:12.79 Babylon is described in Revelation 00:47:12.83\00:47:14.16 as the kings of the earth 00:47:14.20\00:47:15.60 have committed fornication with her. 00:47:15.63\00:47:17.63 The merchants of the earth have been made rich 00:47:17.67\00:47:20.50 through the abundance of her luxuries. 00:47:20.54\00:47:22.40 So the influence of Babylon is both social, political, 00:47:22.44\00:47:26.51 and economic. 00:47:26.54\00:47:27.91 It's also moral, 00:47:27.94\00:47:29.58 because the woman is referred to as a harlot. 00:47:29.61\00:47:32.01 So you find the entire world is being corrupted by a system 00:47:32.05\00:47:35.28 that's described by God as Babylon. 00:47:35.32\00:47:37.39 Then the Bible says, 00:47:37.42\00:47:38.75 "Her sins have reached unto heaven." 00:47:38.79\00:47:40.36 Well, that's how Babylon began. 00:47:40.39\00:47:41.89 They began building a tower that reached unto heaven. 00:47:41.92\00:47:45.43 So now her sins have reached unto heaven. 00:47:45.46\00:47:48.26 Her own works have been the precursor 00:47:48.30\00:47:51.40 to spell her demise. 00:47:51.43\00:47:53.13 The other thing that she did was unwilling to honor God. 00:47:53.17\00:47:56.97 You are weighed in the balances and found... 00:47:57.01\00:47:59.31 wanting, unwilling to honor God 00:47:59.34\00:48:02.74 and unwillingness to honor God. 00:48:02.78\00:48:05.11 Thirdly, and most importantly, Jeremiah 25:12. 00:48:05.15\00:48:10.35 The third reason why Babylon came to its end 00:48:10.39\00:48:13.52 is because God willed it. 00:48:13.56\00:48:15.32 God willed it. 00:48:15.36\00:48:16.69 Jeremiah 25:12, "'Then it will come to pass, 00:48:16.73\00:48:21.76 when seventy years are completed, 00:48:21.80\00:48:25.07 that I will punish the king of Babylon 00:48:25.10\00:48:28.60 and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, 00:48:28.64\00:48:31.57 for their iniquity' says the Lord, 00:48:31.61\00:48:34.31 'and I will make it a perpetual desolation.'" 00:48:34.34\00:48:37.11 So notice what the Lord prophesied 00:48:37.15\00:48:38.98 long before Belshazzar did this. 00:48:39.01\00:48:41.92 He said, because of the nature of that nation, 00:48:41.95\00:48:44.35 they're gonna come to an end based on their iniquity. 00:48:44.39\00:48:47.06 But not only that, 00:48:47.09\00:48:48.59 I'm gonna give them 70 years to rule over my people, 00:48:48.62\00:48:51.43 and at the end of that time, I'm gonna punish them. 00:48:51.46\00:48:53.70 I never favored Babylon. 00:48:53.73\00:48:55.36 But here's the point I got out of that. 00:48:55.40\00:48:56.97 Sometimes God uses our enemies 00:48:57.00\00:49:01.14 to lead us back to obedience 00:49:01.17\00:49:03.30 and acknowledgement of who He is. 00:49:03.34\00:49:05.87 God used Babylon's enemies. 00:49:05.91\00:49:08.31 And one of the reasons why is 00:49:08.34\00:49:09.68 because they want to live like the Babylonians. 00:49:09.71\00:49:12.05 They began to follow a lifestyle 00:49:12.08\00:49:14.75 that was synonymous 00:49:14.78\00:49:16.12 with where they live in Babylon. 00:49:16.15\00:49:17.49 So it said, if you wanna live like Babylon, 00:49:17.52\00:49:19.75 you need to live in Babylon. 00:49:19.79\00:49:22.59 Same reason why the Israelites would carted off to Egypt. 00:49:22.62\00:49:25.26 If you wanna live like Egypt, live in Egypt. 00:49:25.29\00:49:29.06 And the fourth reason, Daniel 5:26. 00:49:29.10\00:49:34.94 The reason why Babylon came to an end 00:49:34.97\00:49:37.51 is because it was prophesied. 00:49:37.54\00:49:40.98 It was prophesied. That's the major reason. 00:49:41.01\00:49:44.15 Even if Belshazzar had a party of two, 00:49:44.18\00:49:47.68 it was coming to an end. 00:49:47.72\00:49:49.58 Even if he served Kool-Aid, it was coming to an end. 00:49:49.62\00:49:53.72 Even if all they had was a half a glass of Kool-Aid 00:49:53.76\00:49:56.29 and some Snicker bars, it was coming to an end, right? 00:49:56.32\00:50:00.16 Because the Bible says, this is the interpretation, 00:50:00.20\00:50:03.16 "God has numbered your kingdom and finished it." 00:50:03.20\00:50:06.00 God gave them only 00:50:06.03\00:50:07.37 a certain period of time to reign. 00:50:07.40\00:50:09.54 And the prophetic integrity was to let us know that, yes, 00:50:09.57\00:50:13.04 Isaiah 46:9-10, the end from the beginning. 00:50:13.07\00:50:17.08 Babylon was just a first in the unfolding 00:50:17.11\00:50:19.58 of the great nations of the world. 00:50:19.61\00:50:21.48 Medo-Persia was next, Greece was next, 00:50:21.52\00:50:24.22 and Rome was next. 00:50:24.25\00:50:25.69 And Rome is still existing to this very day, 00:50:25.72\00:50:28.36 but it has its part. 00:50:28.39\00:50:29.86 But I wanna also point out the coalition of Babylon. 00:50:29.89\00:50:32.49 Let's go to Revelation Chapter 17. 00:50:32.53\00:50:36.33 Revelation Chapter 16, actually. 00:50:36.36\00:50:39.10 Revelation Chapter 16. 00:50:39.13\00:50:41.54 I did a lesson call, 00:50:41.57\00:50:45.01 the final call for the fall of Babylon. 00:50:45.04\00:50:50.11 And Revelation 16:13 brings out 00:50:50.15\00:50:53.88 a very significant element of Babylon. 00:50:53.92\00:50:57.82 Notice what it says. 00:50:57.85\00:50:59.69 Revelation 16:13, 00:50:59.72\00:51:04.13 "And I saw three unclean spirits 00:51:04.16\00:51:05.69 like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, 00:51:05.73\00:51:08.73 out of the mouth of the beast, 00:51:08.76\00:51:10.47 and out of the mouth of the false prophets." 00:51:10.50\00:51:12.70 Now to know that this is describing Babylon, 00:51:12.73\00:51:14.94 we just need to look at verse 12. 00:51:14.97\00:51:17.94 "Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl 00:51:17.97\00:51:20.48 on the great river," what? 00:51:20.51\00:51:21.84 "Euphrates." 00:51:21.88\00:51:23.21 That's the river that secured Babylon. 00:51:23.24\00:51:25.51 "And its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings 00:51:25.55\00:51:29.32 of the East might be prepared. 00:51:29.35\00:51:31.49 That was the Median army that came on to the wall, 00:51:31.52\00:51:35.26 and brought that party to an end. 00:51:35.29\00:51:37.69 Oh, that was the last song that they played that night. 00:51:37.73\00:51:41.80 But notice the comparisons, 00:51:41.83\00:51:43.37 the three components of Babylon is the dragon, 00:51:43.40\00:51:49.20 the beast, and the false prophet. 00:51:49.24\00:51:50.87 Now the dragon is described in Revelation 12:7-9 as Satan, 00:51:50.91\00:51:54.74 "That serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan." 00:51:54.78\00:51:56.88 We interpret that today anything connected 00:51:56.91\00:51:59.71 with Satan is connected 00:51:59.75\00:52:01.18 with the system of spiritualism. 00:52:01.22\00:52:04.55 All these forms of false worship, 00:52:04.59\00:52:09.22 Buddhism, Hinduism, 00:52:09.26\00:52:13.23 Silva Mind Control, Shakti Yoga, 00:52:13.26\00:52:15.50 all these spiritualistic arts are motivated 00:52:15.53\00:52:19.60 by a spiritualistic spirit, 00:52:19.63\00:52:21.80 out of the mouth of the dragon. 00:52:21.84\00:52:23.77 He speaks these things. 00:52:23.81\00:52:25.27 Also connected to that in the Christian realm, 00:52:25.31\00:52:27.31 this is odd to say that 00:52:27.34\00:52:28.78 also connected to the system of corruption spiritually 00:52:28.81\00:52:31.95 in the Christian realm is the idea 00:52:31.98\00:52:34.15 of the immortality of the soul. 00:52:34.18\00:52:36.85 There is no immortal soul. 00:52:36.89\00:52:38.85 The immortality of the soul is also a teaching that 00:52:38.89\00:52:41.42 came out of Babylon. 00:52:41.46\00:52:43.02 But there's a second component, the beast. 00:52:43.06\00:52:45.43 Now the beast, as described here, 00:52:45.46\00:52:47.23 was described earlier in Revelation. 00:52:47.26\00:52:50.80 And in latter parts of Revelation, 00:52:50.83\00:52:52.60 the woman sitting on a scarlet colored beast. 00:52:52.63\00:52:56.04 Well, who is she? 00:52:56.07\00:52:57.44 The beast has 7 heads and 10 horns, 00:52:57.47\00:52:59.94 right back to the description 00:52:59.97\00:53:02.24 given about Babylon in Daniel Chapter 7. 00:53:02.28\00:53:05.68 Then also in Revelation Chapter 12, 00:53:05.71\00:53:08.58 and in Revelation Chapter 17, 00:53:08.62\00:53:10.22 the consistency Revelation Chapter 13, 00:53:10.25\00:53:12.72 the beast rising out of the sea, 00:53:12.75\00:53:14.42 having 7 heads and 10 horns, 00:53:14.46\00:53:16.26 showing the consistency of the power of Rome. 00:53:16.29\00:53:20.06 This corrupt system that we now know as Catholicism, 00:53:20.10\00:53:22.93 not the people, 00:53:22.96\00:53:24.30 but the system itself is corrupt. 00:53:24.33\00:53:25.90 And the Bible says the dragon gave him his power, 00:53:25.93\00:53:28.44 his seat, and great authority. 00:53:28.47\00:53:29.80 So it's amazing that the dragon, 00:53:29.84\00:53:31.41 then the seat and the power that he was given to, 00:53:31.44\00:53:34.21 or he received comes from Satan himself. 00:53:34.24\00:53:37.71 So Catholicism, a corrupt system. 00:53:37.75\00:53:40.52 Babylon is a corrupt system. 00:53:40.55\00:53:42.75 Thirdly, you have the false prophets. 00:53:42.78\00:53:45.09 Now, a true prophet proclaims God's Word, 00:53:45.12\00:53:48.19 but a false prophet does not proclaim God's Word, 00:53:48.22\00:53:51.36 but a false prophet has an appearance of a prophet. 00:53:51.39\00:53:56.23 But Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:13-14, he says, 00:53:56.26\00:54:00.60 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, 00:54:00.64\00:54:03.41 transforming themselves 00:54:03.44\00:54:05.04 into the ministers of righteousness." 00:54:05.07\00:54:07.78 So false prophet is one who does not pass the integrity 00:54:07.81\00:54:12.71 of God's Word. 00:54:12.75\00:54:14.08 I have to make this very quick. 00:54:14.12\00:54:15.78 Now the woman has on purple and red, right? 00:54:15.82\00:54:19.65 Numbers 15:37. 00:54:19.69\00:54:22.52 Blue was the color that's missing. 00:54:22.56\00:54:25.49 And blue was a symbol, 00:54:25.53\00:54:27.73 I have to say this, give me an extra second here. 00:54:27.76\00:54:30.27 "The Lord said, 00:54:30.30\00:54:31.63 'Speak to the children of Israel, 00:54:31.67\00:54:33.00 tell them to make tassels.'" 00:54:33.03\00:54:34.37 And the tassels were to be blue. 00:54:34.40\00:54:36.20 What was the purpose of the tassels 00:54:36.24\00:54:37.81 that were on the garment? 00:54:37.84\00:54:39.27 And it says, "That you may not follow 00:54:39.31\00:54:41.98 the harlot to which your own heart 00:54:42.01\00:54:45.68 and your own eyes are inclined, 00:54:45.71\00:54:47.72 that you may remember and do all My commandments." 00:54:47.75\00:54:50.95 The description of this harlot, she only has purple and red, 00:54:50.99\00:54:54.66 she's missing blue because in Babylon, 00:54:54.69\00:54:57.29 the commandments of God are not there. 00:54:57.33\00:54:59.49 Cool! That's good. 00:54:59.53\00:55:01.40 Absolutely. Thank you. So, here's the key. 00:55:01.43\00:55:03.67 If you are part of a system 00:55:03.70\00:55:05.03 where the Ten Commandments of God 00:55:05.07\00:55:06.40 are nullified or modified, 00:55:06.43\00:55:09.00 get out, because Babylon is falling. 00:55:09.04\00:55:11.24 Amen. That's right. 00:55:11.27\00:55:12.61 Amen. 00:55:12.64\00:55:13.98 Thank you so much. What an incredible study. 00:55:14.01\00:55:15.34 Who knew we could get 00:55:15.38\00:55:16.71 all of that out of Daniel Chapter 5, 00:55:16.75\00:55:19.08 and there's much more we can keep going. 00:55:19.11\00:55:20.85 But we're almost out of time. 00:55:20.88\00:55:22.22 So I wanna give each one of you 00:55:22.25\00:55:23.59 a moment to share something about the lesson. 00:55:23.62\00:55:24.95 You know, it's powerful, because in this story, 00:55:24.99\00:55:27.49 this story includes the details 00:55:27.52\00:55:29.26 of a father king going away, 00:55:29.29\00:55:31.89 and entrusting his son to take care of the kingdom. 00:55:31.93\00:55:36.26 And this son, who's in apostasy, 00:55:36.30\00:55:38.27 of course, he's encamped 00:55:38.30\00:55:40.50 by the enemy and loses the kingdom. 00:55:40.54\00:55:42.50 And I was thinking as we were going down the line, 00:55:42.54\00:55:44.07 I thought, you know, 00:55:44.11\00:55:45.44 I praise the Lord that I serve a God 00:55:45.47\00:55:47.11 who has given dominion and a kingdom to His Son 00:55:47.14\00:55:50.51 and we can trust in that Son. 00:55:50.55\00:55:52.01 So I wanna put my trust in Jesus Christ to know 00:55:52.05\00:55:54.78 that I don't have to wait for the enemy to come 00:55:54.82\00:55:56.48 and camp around me. 00:55:56.52\00:55:57.85 You put your trust in Jesus and your kingdom won't fall. 00:55:57.89\00:56:00.16 That's right.
