00:02:05.99\00:02:07.49 Absolutely. 00:02:07.52\00:02:08.86 Loving Father in heaven, 00:02:08.89\00:02:10.23 we thank You again for Your love 00:02:10.26\00:02:11.59 that You have for us, now we invite thy Holy Spirit. 00:02:11.63\00:02:14.20 We pray that You'll come in abundance, 00:02:14.23\00:02:15.60 You'll touch our hearts, 00:02:15.63\00:02:16.97 touch our lives, touch our minds. 00:02:17.00\00:02:18.33 Help us to be ready, 00:02:18.37\00:02:19.70 Lord, with that which you have for us, 00:02:19.73\00:02:21.07 I know you have a feast in store 00:02:21.10\00:02:22.44 and we pray that Your Holy Spirit will impart 00:02:22.47\00:02:24.97 that to each and every one of us, 00:02:25.01\00:02:26.34 and we pray for the listeners and for the viewers, 00:02:26.37\00:02:28.18 may each one hearts and lives be open. 00:02:28.21\00:02:30.45 And may each one as they hear these beautiful truths, 00:02:30.48\00:02:32.41 come to the point of deciding they want to follow Jesus 00:02:32.45\00:02:35.12 all the way regardless of the cost. 00:02:35.15\00:02:37.15 Thank you, Lord, for hearing, for answering prayer. 00:02:37.19\00:02:39.25 Be with each one here in a special way, 00:02:39.29\00:02:40.92 those behind the scenes, and those who are in front, 00:02:40.96\00:02:42.82 in Jesus' name, amen. 00:02:42.86\00:02:44.19 Amen and amen. 00:02:44.23\00:02:45.79 Great story in the introduction of this lesson 00:02:45.83\00:02:49.66 in our quarterly, 00:02:49.70\00:02:51.03 and it's talking about in the waters around Greenland, 00:02:51.07\00:02:54.40 there are icebergs of every shape and size, 00:02:54.44\00:02:56.97 and the smaller icebergs are driven by the wind across, 00:02:57.01\00:03:00.81 whatever direction of the wind, 00:03:00.84\00:03:02.18 that's the direction they're going in. 00:03:02.21\00:03:04.28 But the larger icebergs are carried 00:03:04.31\00:03:06.75 by the ocean currents. 00:03:06.78\00:03:08.42 And so sometimes, 00:03:08.45\00:03:09.78 they may be going in opposite directions. 00:03:09.82\00:03:11.75 And we're looking at what is going on in history. 00:03:11.79\00:03:14.92 Sometimes it's like, no way, what's happening here? 00:03:14.96\00:03:18.99 And you know what? 00:03:19.03\00:03:20.36 Truth be known at that, we think, 00:03:20.40\00:03:23.06 maybe it is the rise and fall of nations 00:03:23.10\00:03:25.83 is happening by human whim. 00:03:25.87\00:03:27.87 Now, God is that deep undercurrent 00:03:27.90\00:03:32.47 that is moving things along and we can be sure 00:03:32.51\00:03:36.54 that everything is going to happen according 00:03:36.58\00:03:40.18 to His sovereign purpose. 00:03:40.22\00:03:41.85 All right, Sunday's lesson is the immanence of God, 00:03:41.88\00:03:46.19 and that is I-M-M-A-N-E-N-C-E. 00:03:46.22\00:03:51.19 the reason I want to spell that, 00:03:51.23\00:03:53.53 immanent and imminent, two different words. 00:03:53.56\00:03:56.26 I-M-M-I, 00:03:56.30\00:03:57.70 is talking when we talk about 00:03:57.73\00:03:59.10 the imminent return of Jesus Christ. 00:03:59.13\00:04:02.10 We are then talking about something that's very near. 00:04:02.14\00:04:05.84 But the I-M-M-A, immanence 00:04:05.87\00:04:09.31 is when you're talking about the closeness of God, 00:04:09.34\00:04:15.98 compared to His transcendence, 00:04:16.02\00:04:19.42 how high God is above everything. 00:04:19.45\00:04:21.42 So let's look at this. 00:04:21.46\00:04:23.32 When we think about this, God, 00:04:23.36\00:04:25.53 imminence means that God is present in all of creation. 00:04:25.56\00:04:29.96 But this isn't like the pantheistic belief 00:04:30.00\00:04:33.74 that He's in everything. 00:04:33.77\00:04:36.14 Imminence means that 00:04:36.17\00:04:37.61 He is distinct from His creation. 00:04:37.64\00:04:40.24 He's apart from His creation, yet He is everywhere in His, 00:04:40.28\00:04:47.05 there's nowhere that He is not present 00:04:47.08\00:04:48.75 and that He is exercising sovereign control to uphold it. 00:04:48.78\00:04:54.02 Two of God's many attributes is that He is both nearby 00:04:54.06\00:04:58.99 and far away. 00:04:59.03\00:05:00.40 So imminence means God is near us, 00:05:00.43\00:05:03.93 present within space and time. 00:05:03.97\00:05:06.07 Let's look at Colossians 1:17, 00:05:06.10\00:05:08.27 because this is a perfect example for imminence, 00:05:08.30\00:05:13.88 Colossians 1:17. 00:05:13.91\00:05:17.18 Speaking of Jesus, it says, 00:05:17.21\00:05:19.71 "He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 00:05:19.75\00:05:26.25 He sustains all life, 00:05:26.29\00:05:28.46 He sustains the universe with His power, 00:05:28.49\00:05:31.63 and He maintains the balance necessary 00:05:31.66\00:05:35.76 for everything to exist." 00:05:35.80\00:05:37.27 Hebrews 1:3 says that, "He upholds, and propels, 00:05:37.30\00:05:42.44 and maintains everything by His mighty word of power." 00:05:42.47\00:05:47.04 So, the written word of God testifies 00:05:47.08\00:05:50.55 to His personal interest, 00:05:50.58\00:05:53.58 His personal action in our lives. 00:05:53.62\00:05:57.42 If you want to know how personal God is, 00:05:57.45\00:06:00.56 think about this. 00:06:00.59\00:06:01.92 He came to earth to become a man 00:06:01.96\00:06:04.66 and die on the cross for us. 00:06:04.69\00:06:06.03 That's right. Amen. 00:06:06.06\00:06:07.76 So, imminence is God, God with us. 00:06:07.80\00:06:13.57 Another one is Acts 17:28. 00:06:13.60\00:06:16.07 Another great example. 00:06:16.10\00:06:17.97 Acts 17:28 says, 00:06:18.01\00:06:19.87 "For in him we live and move and have our being, 00:06:19.91\00:06:25.68 as also some of your own prophets have said, 00:06:25.71\00:06:29.25 'For we are also His offspring.'" 00:06:29.28\00:06:33.22 What does that say? 00:06:33.25\00:06:34.59 None of us are independent from God. 00:06:34.62\00:06:37.29 You might think you are, you might say, 00:06:37.33\00:06:40.10 I don't even believe in God. 00:06:40.13\00:06:41.66 Let me tell you something, you don't exist apart from Him. 00:06:41.70\00:06:44.87 So transcendence is that God exists 00:06:44.90\00:06:50.94 outside of space and time. 00:06:50.97\00:06:52.97 Let's think about Isaiah 55:9. 00:06:53.01\00:06:55.74 That's the best example 00:06:55.78\00:06:57.11 I could think of for transcendence, 00:06:57.15\00:06:59.88 means he's far off, Isaiah 55:9, 00:06:59.91\00:07:04.85 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth. 00:07:04.89\00:07:10.13 The Lord says, so are my ways higher than your ways, 00:07:10.16\00:07:13.23 and my thoughts than your thoughts." 00:07:13.26\00:07:16.60 We can't fit God into some little mold 00:07:16.63\00:07:22.10 that we try to make. 00:07:22.14\00:07:23.47 He's incomprehensible. That's right. 00:07:23.51\00:07:25.57 You know, and sometimes I think we do, 00:07:25.61\00:07:26.98 I think we try to put him in a box. 00:07:27.01\00:07:29.41 He is transistent, 00:07:29.44\00:07:31.11 He exists apart from everything. 00:07:31.15\00:07:34.52 He's not subject to the limitations 00:07:34.55\00:07:37.42 of this material universe. 00:07:37.45\00:07:40.09 So God's thoughts and deeds are far above humanity. 00:07:40.12\00:07:44.46 And actually, when you think about it, 00:07:44.49\00:07:47.00 even grace is beyond human comprehension, isn't it? 00:07:47.03\00:07:50.87 God declares that He is omnipresent, 00:07:50.90\00:07:54.67 that He is, that means He's everywhere, 00:07:54.70\00:07:57.17 that He is omniscient, that He knows everything 00:07:57.21\00:08:01.21 in both an imminent close way, 00:08:01.24\00:08:05.58 and in a transcendent way. 00:08:05.61\00:08:08.42 Here's the best scripture I could think of for that. 00:08:08.45\00:08:11.52 Psalm 57:2, I love this promise. 00:08:11.55\00:08:16.12 I love this beautiful word of the Lord. 00:08:16.16\00:08:19.76 Psalm 57:2, 00:08:19.79\00:08:22.90 "I will cry out to God Most High," 00:08:22.93\00:08:26.70 that is the transcendent God that's above everything, 00:08:26.74\00:08:31.97 "to God, who performs all things for me." 00:08:32.01\00:08:38.01 See, 00:08:38.05\00:08:39.38 His transcendence never removes His imminence. 00:08:39.41\00:08:43.18 He may be God Most High, transcendent above everything, 00:08:43.22\00:08:47.19 but He is the God who performs His vows. 00:08:47.22\00:08:51.59 He is the God who performs all things for us. 00:08:51.63\00:08:54.76 He is our imminent God. 00:08:54.80\00:08:56.56 So now let's look at Daniel Chapter 2. 00:08:56.60\00:08:59.43 We're gonna look at a crisis, that the Hebrews were facing. 00:08:59.47\00:09:03.94 Daniel Chapter 2, and we'll start with verse 1. 00:09:03.97\00:09:08.31 Nebuchadnezzar is having dreams, 00:09:08.34\00:09:10.68 his spirit's so troubled that sleep leaves him, 00:09:10.71\00:09:13.52 he calls the magicians, the astrologers, 00:09:13.55\00:09:15.78 the sorcerers, the cult, 00:09:15.82\00:09:17.49 the Chaldeans who were a special class of soothsayers, 00:09:17.52\00:09:21.52 and to tell, he wants them to tell him his dream. 00:09:21.56\00:09:26.73 Dreams were taken very seriously 00:09:26.76\00:09:29.36 in the ancient world. 00:09:29.40\00:09:30.73 The Babylonians believed that the gods could reveal 00:09:30.77\00:09:34.57 the interpretation of the dream. 00:09:34.60\00:09:36.57 So verse 3, "The king said to them, 00:09:36.60\00:09:38.74 'I have had a dream, 00:09:38.77\00:09:40.48 and my spirit is anxious to know the dream.'" 00:09:40.51\00:09:45.95 This dream he had was foreboding, 00:09:45.98\00:09:49.65 it was giving him an anxious spirit, 00:09:49.68\00:09:52.09 he thought that perhaps there was an impending disaster. 00:09:52.12\00:09:57.36 So either he can't remember it 00:09:57.39\00:09:59.13 or he could have actually been testing his guys 00:09:59.16\00:10:02.63 to see if they're gonna give him an honest answer. 00:10:02.66\00:10:05.00 But he was anxious for the interpretation. 00:10:05.03\00:10:08.64 He didn't want deception. 00:10:08.67\00:10:10.64 So verse 4 says, 00:10:10.67\00:10:12.01 "The Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, 00:10:12.04\00:10:13.84 'O King, live forever! 00:10:13.88\00:10:17.28 Tell your servants the dream, 00:10:17.31\00:10:18.68 we will give you the interpretation.'" 00:10:18.71\00:10:20.72 "And the king answers, 'My decision is firm. 00:10:20.75\00:10:23.79 If you do not make known the dream to me 00:10:23.82\00:10:25.69 and its interpretation, you shall be," what? 00:10:25.72\00:10:29.22 Cut in pieces. "Cut in pieces. 00:10:29.26\00:10:31.39 Your houses shall be made an ash heap. 00:10:31.43\00:10:33.80 However, if you tell the dream, 00:10:33.83\00:10:35.86 its interpretation you shall receive from me gifts, 00:10:35.90\00:10:39.40 rewards and great honor." 00:10:39.43\00:10:41.04 Verse 9 says, 00:10:41.07\00:10:42.40 "If you do not make known the dream to me, 00:10:42.44\00:10:44.61 there is only one decree for you. 00:10:44.64\00:10:47.51 For you have agreed to speak, lying and corrupt words 00:10:47.54\00:10:52.18 before me till the time has changed." 00:10:52.21\00:10:54.32 So he didn't trust them obviously. 00:10:54.35\00:10:56.85 He says, "Therefore tell me the dream, 00:10:56.89\00:10:59.52 then I shall know that 00:10:59.55\00:11:00.89 you can give me its interpretation. 00:11:00.92\00:11:02.76 So the Chaldeans answered and said, 00:11:02.79\00:11:04.53 'There's not a man on earth who can tell you, 00:11:04.56\00:11:07.36 the king's matter. 00:11:07.40\00:11:09.03 Therefore no king, lord 00:11:09.06\00:11:13.00 or ruler has ever asked for such a thing 00:11:13.03\00:11:16.10 from any magician, or astrologer, or a Chaldean." 00:11:16.14\00:11:19.91 The pagan dream experts didn't know the dream. 00:11:19.94\00:11:23.51 So they couldn't come up with an interpretation 00:11:23.55\00:11:25.75 that would please the king. 00:11:25.78\00:11:28.35 This is not really an unprecedented situation. 00:11:28.38\00:11:34.32 We're going to look in just a minute. 00:11:34.36\00:11:36.69 I know that. 00:11:36.73\00:11:38.26 Well, let me go forward. 00:11:38.29\00:11:40.33 Verse 11, 00:11:40.36\00:11:42.06 "It is a difficult thing that the king requests, 00:11:42.10\00:11:44.27 there is no other who can tell it to the king, 00:11:44.30\00:11:47.74 except the gods 00:11:47.77\00:11:49.77 whose dwelling is not with flesh." 00:11:49.80\00:11:52.51 Well, they were right there. 00:11:52.54\00:11:53.88 They're just thinking of the wrong gods, right? 00:11:53.91\00:11:55.88 So despite all of their incantations, 00:11:55.91\00:11:59.11 all of their magic and their astrology, 00:11:59.15\00:12:02.22 they're not capable 00:12:02.25\00:12:03.99 of receiving a supernatural revelation. 00:12:04.02\00:12:07.02 Verse 12, "The king is angry, he's furious, 00:12:07.06\00:12:10.63 he commands to know the answer 00:12:10.66\00:12:15.13 or destroy all of the wise men of Babylon." 00:12:15.16\00:12:19.07 Darius I 00:12:19.10\00:12:21.40 had all the Magi executed because of the conspiracy. 00:12:21.44\00:12:25.94 Xerxes put to death all the engineers 00:12:25.97\00:12:29.81 who had built a bridge that collapsed, 00:12:29.84\00:12:32.45 so this isn't totally unprecedented 00:12:32.48\00:12:34.88 as far as the decree, but now it goes out, 00:12:34.92\00:12:38.15 and immediately they begin killing the wise men. 00:12:38.19\00:12:40.66 Well, guess what? 00:12:40.69\00:12:42.02 Daniel and his three buddies are on the cabinet staff. 00:12:42.06\00:12:46.56 Yes. That's right. 00:12:46.59\00:12:47.93 You know, they're going to, 00:12:47.96\00:12:49.30 they have finished their schooling, 00:12:49.33\00:12:52.53 and now they're in danger of being killed. 00:12:52.57\00:12:55.10 So what does he do? 00:12:55.14\00:12:56.97 Daniel and his friends, 00:12:57.01\00:12:59.91 actually, Daniel goes to him. 00:12:59.94\00:13:01.58 In verse 14. 00:13:01.61\00:13:03.24 It says, "With counsel and wisdom," 00:13:03.28\00:13:05.91 when Arioch came to tell Daniel, 00:13:05.95\00:13:07.52 "Hey, off with your head." 00:13:07.55\00:13:09.85 He said, "Daniel answered Arioch, 00:13:09.88\00:13:12.22 the captain of the king's guard 00:13:12.25\00:13:13.66 who'd gone out to kill the wise men in Babylon, 00:13:13.69\00:13:16.29 saying to him, 00:13:16.32\00:13:17.66 'Why is the decree from the king, so urgent?' 00:13:17.69\00:13:21.33 And then Arioch made the decision known to Daniel. 00:13:21.36\00:13:24.30 So Daniel went in 00:13:24.33\00:13:25.83 and asked the king to give him time, 00:13:25.87\00:13:28.27 that he might tell the king the interpretation.'" 00:13:28.30\00:13:31.17 Here's the point. 00:13:31.21\00:13:33.44 Daniel trusted that God could give him 00:13:33.48\00:13:38.71 a supernatural interpretation. 00:13:38.75\00:13:40.88 Interestingly, 00:13:40.92\00:13:42.55 the king told the wise men, his astrologers, 00:13:42.58\00:13:48.69 you're just trying to buy time. 00:13:48.72\00:13:50.19 He wouldn't give them any time. 00:13:50.23\00:13:52.33 He gives Daniel the time. Amen. 00:13:52.36\00:13:53.96 Oh, wow, praise the Lord. 00:13:54.00\00:13:55.90 I love this story because it shows 00:13:55.93\00:13:57.70 just how powerful God is 00:13:57.73\00:14:01.17 in a sense of how He works with His people, 00:14:01.20\00:14:03.00 and through His people during times of hardship, 00:14:03.04\00:14:07.34 times of challenge and trial, 00:14:07.38\00:14:09.31 which is exactly what Daniel, 00:14:09.34\00:14:10.98 I'm sure felt like he was enduring 00:14:11.01\00:14:12.35 at that time, the trial of his life. 00:14:12.38\00:14:13.88 Could you imagine someone coming 00:14:13.92\00:14:15.25 and knocking on your door in the middle of the night 00:14:15.28\00:14:17.19 and saying, "Hey, I'm here to murder you." 00:14:17.22\00:14:19.42 You know, I can't imagine the fear 00:14:19.45\00:14:21.62 and the feeling that he had in that very moment. 00:14:21.66\00:14:24.56 But nonetheless, 00:14:24.59\00:14:25.93 as you just clearly brought out, 00:14:25.96\00:14:27.30 and the scripture says, he goes, 00:14:27.33\00:14:28.66 and he gets the permission from the king. 00:14:28.70\00:14:30.03 Give me more time. 00:14:30.07\00:14:31.43 And, of course, I just have to, 00:14:31.47\00:14:33.10 before I get into this text here, 00:14:33.13\00:14:35.00 because this is Monday's lesson, 00:14:35.04\00:14:36.37 Monday's lesson is entitled The Prayer. 00:14:36.40\00:14:38.87 All right. 00:14:38.91\00:14:40.34 Simple, the prayer. 00:14:40.38\00:14:41.71 And it's funny because this is the part 00:14:41.74\00:14:44.25 or the aspect of the lesson, 00:14:44.28\00:14:45.78 or the passage that most people would 00:14:45.81\00:14:47.22 just read right over and think, 00:14:47.25\00:14:49.22 you know, "Oh, let's get to the good stuff. 00:14:49.25\00:14:50.65 Let's get to the, you know, the image 00:14:50.69\00:14:52.82 and the meaning of the image and interpretation." 00:14:52.85\00:14:54.72 But all of this is based upon and starts with a prayer... 00:14:54.76\00:14:58.99 Amen. 00:14:59.03\00:15:00.36 And it's powerful to think that many times, 00:15:00.40\00:15:02.50 we, probably we as humans in our carnal mind, 00:15:02.53\00:15:06.33 I can imagine that if we were probably dished 00:15:06.37\00:15:09.70 this particular situation, 00:15:09.74\00:15:11.07 we found ourselves in a similar situation. 00:15:11.11\00:15:13.98 You know, I'd find myself in many situations 00:15:14.01\00:15:16.41 where it's my natural carnal mind 00:15:16.44\00:15:19.78 wants to start plotting and planning to figure out, 00:15:19.81\00:15:24.35 you know, the answer myself. 00:15:24.39\00:15:26.42 Instead of going to the Lord and saying, 00:15:26.45\00:15:27.86 Lord, I'm not wise enough, I'm not smart enough, 00:15:27.89\00:15:30.26 I'm not intelligent enough, 00:15:30.29\00:15:31.63 Lord, to get myself out of this situation. 00:15:31.66\00:15:33.50 But yet often times, that's exactly what we do, 00:15:33.53\00:15:35.90 as we start to plan and plot, 00:15:35.93\00:15:37.67 because we believe in ourselves, 00:15:37.70\00:15:39.20 what if I just come up with the right plan, 00:15:39.23\00:15:41.40 the right motives behind the right plan, 00:15:41.44\00:15:43.61 I just might go ahead 00:15:43.64\00:15:44.97 and dig myself out of this situation. 00:15:45.01\00:15:47.08 But we know that, that's not what Daniel had done, 00:15:47.11\00:15:49.34 because Daniel goes back to his house 00:15:49.38\00:15:51.18 and as you and I might have done, 00:15:51.21\00:15:52.55 we probably would have plotted our way 00:15:52.58\00:15:54.22 to try to escape, you know, 00:15:54.25\00:15:55.68 the wrath of the king 00:15:55.72\00:15:57.05 or try to get it get out of this situation. 00:15:57.09\00:16:00.06 Daniel takes his situation right to the Lord in prayer, 00:16:00.09\00:16:02.46 because he knows that God has all the answers. 00:16:02.49\00:16:04.63 And so I'm gonna start reading 00:16:04.66\00:16:05.99 in Daniel Chapter 2 beginning with verse 17, 00:16:06.03\00:16:08.66 and we're going to read through verse 23. 00:16:08.70\00:16:10.70 And so it says, "Then Daniel went to his house, 00:16:10.73\00:16:13.94 and made the decision known to Hananiah, 00:16:13.97\00:16:16.14 Meshael and Azariah, his companions." 00:16:16.17\00:16:19.01 And I just have to pause there, 00:16:19.04\00:16:20.38 notice how Daniel didn't just take this 00:16:20.41\00:16:21.78 to the Lord in prayer by himself. 00:16:21.81\00:16:23.98 Good. 00:16:24.01\00:16:25.35 He said, brothers, we got to pray. 00:16:25.38\00:16:27.05 You know, we're counseled in the Word of God, 00:16:27.08\00:16:28.58 that we take the, in a multitude of people, 00:16:28.62\00:16:31.15 Got hears His people's prayers. 00:16:31.19\00:16:32.95 And so we can learn something from Daniel 00:16:32.99\00:16:35.22 and his companions here. 00:16:35.26\00:16:36.59 It goes on in verse 18, to say, 00:16:36.62\00:16:37.96 "That they might seek the mercies 00:16:37.99\00:16:39.69 from the God of heaven, concerning this secret 00:16:39.73\00:16:42.66 so that Daniel and his companions 00:16:42.70\00:16:44.33 might not perish 00:16:44.37\00:16:45.70 with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 00:16:45.73\00:16:48.50 Then, the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. 00:16:48.54\00:16:51.94 So Daniel blessed the God of heaven." 00:16:51.97\00:16:53.44 So I just want to pause there. 00:16:53.48\00:16:55.14 I had to tell a quick story because, 00:16:55.18\00:16:57.55 when you read this, this is powerful, 00:16:57.58\00:16:58.98 Daniel and his companions, they pray. 00:16:59.01\00:17:01.78 And then, of course, there's, Daniel goes to sleep. 00:17:01.82\00:17:05.59 So you and I wouldn't probably be able to go to sleep, 00:17:05.62\00:17:08.02 you know, that weighing on our minds, you know, 00:17:08.06\00:17:09.79 there's a chance that I'm going to die 00:17:09.82\00:17:11.53 if the Lord chooses not to answer this prayer, 00:17:11.56\00:17:13.76 but Daniel's like, I'm gonna go to sleep. 00:17:13.80\00:17:15.53 So in a night vision, of course, 00:17:15.56\00:17:17.23 as I'm sure he was asleep, God gives him the answer. 00:17:17.27\00:17:19.67 He answers his prayer. 00:17:19.70\00:17:21.04 And, you know, I'll never forget this 00:17:21.07\00:17:23.87 because this was just, actually, 00:17:23.91\00:17:25.24 just recently, I'm on my way. 00:17:25.27\00:17:27.48 I'm on my way to an evangelistic series. 00:17:27.51\00:17:30.05 And this particular part that I was driving through, 00:17:30.08\00:17:32.51 just before I arrived to my destination, 00:17:32.55\00:17:34.78 I was driving through a horrible thick fog. 00:17:34.82\00:17:37.32 And there was a storm 00:17:37.35\00:17:39.12 that had come up at that same time, 00:17:39.15\00:17:40.82 and it was raining so hard, I couldn't see anything. 00:17:40.86\00:17:44.63 And, you know, here I am, really, 00:17:44.66\00:17:46.09 you know, trying to white knuckle this, 00:17:46.13\00:17:48.03 the steering wheel and really trying to pay close attention 00:17:48.06\00:17:50.77 as I'm driving in this very harsh, 00:17:50.80\00:17:53.00 you know, environment. 00:17:53.03\00:17:54.54 And then it hits me, you know, 00:17:54.57\00:17:55.90 I've never really said a prayer 00:17:55.94\00:17:57.94 in the sense to ask Jesus to do something 00:17:57.97\00:17:59.94 so drastically before, you know, 00:17:59.97\00:18:01.74 some of you, you hear these prayers all the time, 00:18:01.78\00:18:03.11 well, I asked the Lord to deliver me 00:18:03.14\00:18:04.58 and He came through, 00:18:04.61\00:18:05.95 and I asked the Lord to, you know, stop the rain 00:18:05.98\00:18:07.52 and it stopped, you know, and so I thought, 00:18:07.55\00:18:09.08 you know, I'm gonna try this. 00:18:09.12\00:18:10.45 So I called out to the Lord, I said, 00:18:10.49\00:18:11.82 "Lord, 00:18:11.85\00:18:13.39 I want to make it to my destination safely. 00:18:13.42\00:18:16.09 And I don't want to die tonight, Lord." 00:18:16.12\00:18:17.59 This is, it was getting very rough. 00:18:17.63\00:18:19.39 And so I prayed, Lord, if you see fit, 00:18:19.43\00:18:22.26 please make this rain stop or diminish," 00:18:22.30\00:18:25.90 so that I can see to make my way, 00:18:25.93\00:18:28.27 you know, to my destination. 00:18:28.30\00:18:29.64 And I promise you, not even with three seconds from that, 00:18:29.67\00:18:32.34 from the moment I said amen. 00:18:32.37\00:18:33.88 It was like this rain went... 00:18:33.91\00:18:36.04 drip, drip, drip. 00:18:36.08\00:18:37.55 That's it. Amen. 00:18:37.58\00:18:38.91 And at that very moment, I kind of had, I was by myself, 00:18:38.95\00:18:41.02 I had one of those like, amazing like, 00:18:41.05\00:18:42.75 aha moments like, wow, 00:18:42.78\00:18:44.29 you know, and I found myself the natural response is that, 00:18:44.32\00:18:49.16 I had 30 miles to go, and I promise you, 00:18:49.19\00:18:51.46 for the next 30 miles 00:18:51.49\00:18:52.83 all I could think of was praise you, God. 00:18:52.86\00:18:54.66 Amen. 00:18:54.70\00:18:56.03 Thank you, Lord, because it really happened so swift. 00:18:56.06\00:18:57.83 It was clear that God had intervened at that moment. 00:18:57.87\00:19:00.67 Notice Daniel's response. 00:19:00.70\00:19:02.04 Notice how he just doesn't wake up and go, 00:19:02.07\00:19:04.11 "Oh, King, you know, got your answer." 00:19:04.14\00:19:07.41 Notice his response beginning in verse 20. 00:19:07.44\00:19:09.94 "Daniel answered and said: 00:19:09.98\00:19:11.58 'Blessed be the name of God forever and ever 00:19:11.61\00:19:14.62 for wisdom and might are His.'" 00:19:14.65\00:19:16.85 So he's praising God, 00:19:16.89\00:19:18.22 instead of taking the answer immediately to the king, 00:19:18.25\00:19:20.26 which he's going to do. 00:19:20.29\00:19:21.96 He stops for a moment to say, 00:19:21.99\00:19:23.32 Lord, You've humbly answered my prayer. 00:19:23.36\00:19:26.49 I want to give you praises. 00:19:26.53\00:19:28.10 He goes on in verse 21, 00:19:28.13\00:19:29.46 "And he changes the times and the seasons. 00:19:29.50\00:19:31.43 He removes kings and raises up kings, 00:19:31.47\00:19:33.57 He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge 00:19:33.60\00:19:35.64 to those who have understanding, 00:19:35.67\00:19:37.17 He reveals deep and secret things, 00:19:37.21\00:19:38.77 He knows what is in the darkness, 00:19:38.81\00:19:40.84 and light dwells with Him. 00:19:40.88\00:19:42.91 I thank You and Praise You, O God of my fathers, 00:19:42.94\00:19:46.35 You have given me wisdom and might 00:19:46.38\00:19:48.42 and have now made known to me, 00:19:48.45\00:19:50.22 what we asked of you," and you, notice, 00:19:50.25\00:19:53.15 "for You have made known to us the king's demand." 00:19:53.19\00:19:56.19 So he stops and he gives God praise. 00:19:56.22\00:19:58.96 Amen. Amen. 00:19:58.99\00:20:00.33 And I just want to ask a question here, 00:20:00.36\00:20:02.10 simple but profound. 00:20:02.13\00:20:03.47 Does God consider it important 00:20:03.50\00:20:06.17 that we respond to Him in praise? 00:20:06.20\00:20:09.14 In moments like these how many times do we stop 00:20:09.17\00:20:11.61 and pause to say, you know, 00:20:11.64\00:20:13.27 I didn't get this job on my own. 00:20:13.31\00:20:15.84 It's because of the Lord. 00:20:15.88\00:20:17.65 You know, I didn't get the answer 00:20:17.68\00:20:19.28 to my question by myself. 00:20:19.31\00:20:21.32 It's because of God. That's right. 00:20:21.35\00:20:22.68 I wasn't able to pay that bill on my own. 00:20:22.72\00:20:24.85 It was because the Lord provided. 00:20:24.89\00:20:26.25 How many times do we consider the trials 00:20:26.29\00:20:29.49 and the tribulations, and the things 00:20:29.52\00:20:30.89 that when the challenges in life, 00:20:30.93\00:20:32.73 we're able to overcome them and move past them 00:20:32.76\00:20:34.90 because God sees us through them. 00:20:34.93\00:20:36.67 And the answer to the question, you know, 00:20:36.70\00:20:38.20 does God consider it important to respond to Him with praise? 00:20:38.23\00:20:41.30 The answer is yes, He does. 00:20:41.34\00:20:43.14 You know, I consider the passage 00:20:43.17\00:20:44.81 in Luke Chapter 17. 00:20:44.84\00:20:46.17 That's the story came to mind. 00:20:46.21\00:20:47.54 And, of course, it's referenced also in the lesson, 00:20:47.58\00:20:50.21 Luke 17:14-19. 00:20:50.25\00:20:53.01 It says, "So when he saw them," 00:20:53.05\00:20:54.65 this is when Jesus heals the 10 lepers, okay? 00:20:54.68\00:20:57.39 Now notice it, it's powerful. 00:20:57.42\00:20:58.89 "So when he saw them, he said to them, 00:20:58.92\00:21:00.86 go show yourselves to the priest. 00:21:00.89\00:21:02.76 And so it was as they went, they were cleansed." 00:21:02.79\00:21:05.86 Okay, so Jesus heals them, right? 00:21:05.89\00:21:08.60 And then notice verse 15. 00:21:08.63\00:21:09.96 "And one of them, 00:21:10.00\00:21:11.33 when he saw that he was healed, returned, 00:21:11.37\00:21:13.30 and with a loud voice, glorified God. 00:21:13.34\00:21:15.97 And fell down on his face at His feet, 00:21:16.00\00:21:18.97 giving Him thanks. 00:21:19.01\00:21:20.34 And he was a Samaritan." 00:21:20.38\00:21:21.98 And then verse 17, "So Jesus had said to him, 00:21:22.01\00:21:24.78 'Were there not ten cleansed? 00:21:24.81\00:21:26.75 But where are the nine? 00:21:26.78\00:21:28.58 Were there not any found 00:21:28.62\00:21:29.95 who returned to give glory to God 00:21:29.98\00:21:32.52 except for this foreigner?' 00:21:32.55\00:21:34.36 And he said to them, 'Arise, 00:21:34.39\00:21:35.72 go your way for your faith has made you well.'" 00:21:35.76\00:21:37.49 This one man out of the nine returns to say, 00:21:37.53\00:21:39.86 God, "Thank you. 00:21:39.89\00:21:41.23 Praise be to you, Jesus, 00:21:41.26\00:21:42.60 because I wouldn't have this healing. 00:21:42.63\00:21:44.47 I wouldn't be where I am without you." 00:21:44.50\00:21:46.90 And so in this time of trial, 00:21:46.94\00:21:49.14 Daniel is faced with him losing his life, 00:21:49.17\00:21:51.87 and he doesn't know where else to go 00:21:51.91\00:21:53.24 but said, "Lord, 00:21:53.27\00:21:54.84 I'm asking for You to intervene. 00:21:54.88\00:21:56.24 And when he does, he doesn't just burst 00:21:56.28\00:21:58.48 into the king's courts immediately, 00:21:58.51\00:22:00.98 he stops and he says, "Lord, praise be to you. 00:22:01.02\00:22:03.79 Praise be to You, Lord, because you are worthy." 00:22:03.82\00:22:06.02 I also think of, we're going to read this in Daniel Chapter 6. 00:22:06.05\00:22:08.42 But notice this, 00:22:08.46\00:22:09.79 in the face of one of the largest trials again, 00:22:09.82\00:22:11.73 in which Daniel is faced to lose his life. 00:22:11.76\00:22:13.90 Notice Daniel 6:10. 00:22:13.93\00:22:16.00 It says, "Now when Daniel knew that the writing with signed," 00:22:16.03\00:22:19.03 speaking of the decree that King Darius had made 00:22:19.07\00:22:23.94 to send anyone to the lions' den 00:22:23.97\00:22:25.54 who prayed to their God other than him, 00:22:25.57\00:22:27.84 for 30 days. 00:22:27.88\00:22:29.21 Notice what it says, 00:22:29.24\00:22:30.58 "When Daniel knew the writing was signed, 00:22:30.61\00:22:31.95 he went home, and in his upper room, 00:22:31.98\00:22:34.12 with his windows open towards Jerusalem, 00:22:34.15\00:22:36.45 he knelt down on his knees, three times a day," 00:22:36.48\00:22:39.15 and notice "and he prayed and gave thanks before God, 00:22:39.19\00:22:42.52 as it was his custom since early days." 00:22:42.56\00:22:45.43 This is powerful, because, 00:22:45.46\00:22:47.60 you know, how many times do we find ourselves 00:22:47.63\00:22:49.16 on our knees in prayer thanking God? 00:22:49.20\00:22:51.27 You know, this is a powerful lesson to learn 00:22:51.30\00:22:53.07 and as I reflect and consider 00:22:53.10\00:22:55.67 what is written here, you know, 00:22:55.70\00:22:57.14 Daniel in the face of adversity and the greatest challenges. 00:22:57.17\00:23:01.14 He had so much faith that he was able to kneel, 00:23:01.18\00:23:04.41 and he was able to stop for a moment in time, 00:23:04.45\00:23:07.32 not knowing if the Lord was going to deliver him. 00:23:07.35\00:23:09.48 I think he had faith. 00:23:09.52\00:23:10.85 I know he had faith that the Lord could deliver him. 00:23:10.89\00:23:12.79 But you know what, Lord, 00:23:12.82\00:23:14.16 if You choose to do it, 00:23:14.19\00:23:15.52 or if You don't choose to do it, 00:23:15.56\00:23:16.89 praise be to you. 00:23:16.93\00:23:18.26 Notice how God had not delivered him 00:23:18.29\00:23:19.63 from the lions' den yet, 00:23:19.66\00:23:21.00 but he's still giving thanks to God 00:23:21.03\00:23:22.36 knowing exactly what doom lies ahead of him. 00:23:22.40\00:23:25.17 And that's a lesson that we all can learn, 00:23:25.20\00:23:27.44 that in times of trial and times of tribulation 00:23:27.47\00:23:31.31 and challenges in our life. 00:23:31.34\00:23:33.01 I want to make an appeal. 00:23:33.04\00:23:34.38 You know, we need to learn to be a praying people. 00:23:34.41\00:23:37.75 We need to learn to not just go to God 00:23:37.78\00:23:39.31 with an open hand and say, Lord, 00:23:39.35\00:23:40.68 give me, give me, give me, 00:23:40.72\00:23:42.05 I need you to come through, because guess what? 00:23:42.08\00:23:43.92 He will, He's promised us that He will come through 00:23:43.95\00:23:46.19 if we're faithful to Him. 00:23:46.22\00:23:47.56 But then a follow up would be, Lord, 00:23:47.59\00:23:49.26 praise be to You, because You deserve it. 00:23:49.29\00:23:51.79 You are mighty, You are wonderful. 00:23:51.83\00:23:53.80 You, Lord, deserve all glory and honor. 00:23:53.83\00:23:55.83 And I just praise God that He is the God of love 00:23:55.86\00:23:59.53 that He is a God that answers prayers, 00:23:59.57\00:24:01.54 and hears His people 00:24:01.57\00:24:02.90 and comes through in the perfect timing. 00:24:02.94\00:24:05.77 Ryan, there's only one thing wrong with you. 00:24:05.81\00:24:07.91 You don't have any enthusiasm. 00:24:07.94\00:24:11.01 I think, praise the Lord that God brought you here 00:24:11.05\00:24:14.92 and we are going to take a quick break. 00:24:14.95\00:24:16.99 We'll be right back. Amen. 00:24:17.02\00:24:18.39 Ever wish you could watch 00:24:23.76\00:24:25.09 a 3ABN Sabbath School Panel again, 00:24:25.13\00:24:27.26 or share it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter? 00:24:55.89\00:24:58.83 who will bring Tuesday's lesson, 00:24:58.86\00:25:00.86 The Image, part one. 00:25:00.90\00:25:02.83 Thank you both so much, 00:25:02.86\00:25:04.20 what an incredible foundation laid. 00:25:04.23\00:25:06.27 I love the Book of Daniel. 00:25:06.30\00:25:08.97 And to me as we're getting in Chapter 1, Chapter 2, 00:25:09.00\00:25:11.67 we get to see more of Daniel's character. 00:25:11.71\00:25:14.41 We get to see more of his walk and relationship with God. 00:25:14.44\00:25:17.88 But most importantly, 00:25:17.91\00:25:19.25 we get to see the God that Daniel served. 00:25:19.28\00:25:22.28 And I love this set up that God did, 00:25:22.32\00:25:25.52 with this whole chapter to me, it was just a set up. 00:25:25.55\00:25:28.46 Nebuchadnezzar had the dream, 00:25:28.49\00:25:30.03 which Shelley had talked about that he couldn't remember. 00:25:30.06\00:25:33.26 And I think that was the hand of God, 00:25:33.29\00:25:35.56 Pastor Kenny, 00:25:35.60\00:25:36.93 because it showed the humaneness 00:25:36.97\00:25:38.57 of his advisors, 00:25:38.60\00:25:40.14 and his magicians, astrologers, sorcerers 00:25:40.17\00:25:43.30 that they could not reveal the dream, 00:25:43.34\00:25:45.14 and it also showed the frailty and the humaneness 00:25:45.17\00:25:48.51 of the gods that they served 00:25:48.54\00:25:51.35 because they couldn't help the matter either. 00:25:51.38\00:25:54.18 Only someone divine could answer. 00:25:54.22\00:25:57.52 Only God Himself could reveal the dream 00:25:57.55\00:26:00.52 and the interpretation. 00:26:00.56\00:26:02.56 In fact the Chaldean said that in Daniel 2:11, 00:26:02.59\00:26:05.23 which we already read, 00:26:05.26\00:26:06.59 "It is a difficult thing that the king requests, 00:26:06.63\00:26:09.23 there is no other who can tell it to the king 00:26:09.26\00:26:11.43 except the gods whose dwelling is not with flesh." 00:26:11.47\00:26:14.40 And we know which God that is. 00:26:14.44\00:26:16.84 That is the Lord Jesus Christ, Jehovah God. 00:26:16.87\00:26:20.38 God showed up and provided the answer. 00:26:20.41\00:26:23.71 So it was unmistakable that He is God. 00:26:23.75\00:26:28.65 So the Image part 1, 00:26:28.68\00:26:30.65 we're going to look at six verses, 00:26:30.69\00:26:32.02 we're going to look at verses 24 through 30. 00:26:32.05\00:26:35.16 This is Daniel 2:24-30. 00:26:35.19\00:26:38.26 And here come the lessons 00:26:38.29\00:26:40.20 that I have gleaned from these six verses. 00:26:40.23\00:26:43.23 There are six lessons actually. 00:26:43.26\00:26:45.03 Lesson number one, 00:26:45.07\00:26:46.40 a true Christian cares about others. 00:26:46.43\00:26:49.94 He even cares about those who have hurt him. 00:26:49.97\00:26:53.98 Let's read verse 24. 00:26:54.01\00:26:55.64 "Therefore, Daniel went to Arioch, 00:26:55.68\00:26:57.38 whom the king had appointed 00:26:57.41\00:26:58.75 to destroy the wise men of Babylon, 00:26:58.78\00:27:01.38 he went and said thus to him, 00:27:01.42\00:27:03.15 'Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon, 00:27:03.18\00:27:05.32 take me before the king, 00:27:05.35\00:27:07.26 and I will tell the king the interpretation.'" 00:27:07.29\00:27:09.82 So remember, the Lord, Ryan, had this portion, 00:27:09.86\00:27:12.46 the Lord revealed to Daniel in a vision, a night vision, 00:27:12.49\00:27:16.77 what the dream was and the interpretation. 00:27:16.80\00:27:20.20 So Daniel could have just run straight to the king. 00:27:20.24\00:27:22.74 But instead he paused, 00:27:22.77\00:27:24.11 as Ryan pointed out so beautifully, 00:27:24.14\00:27:26.24 and praised the Lord, 00:27:26.27\00:27:27.98 gave thanks for what God had done in his life, 00:27:28.01\00:27:31.15 and how God had revealed it. 00:27:31.18\00:27:32.71 Now I'm saying that 00:27:32.75\00:27:34.08 Daniel could have run to the king 00:27:34.12\00:27:35.45 after he praised and said, 00:27:35.48\00:27:36.82 "Okay, King, we're coming with this." 00:27:36.85\00:27:39.25 And then that's, I don't want to die 00:27:39.29\00:27:40.99 and my three friends don't want to die either. 00:27:41.02\00:27:42.99 And that's all he cared about. 00:27:43.02\00:27:44.36 No, a true Christian cares about others. 00:27:44.39\00:27:48.36 He even cares about those who have hurt him. 00:27:48.40\00:27:50.80 Daniel didn't just care about saving his own life. 00:27:50.83\00:27:53.30 He cared about the heathen, those lost and alone, 00:27:53.34\00:27:56.44 and even those who nearly got him killed 00:27:56.47\00:27:58.81 because he almost died 00:27:58.84\00:28:00.78 because of these people, the Chaldeans, 00:28:00.81\00:28:03.24 and the magicians, and all those people 00:28:03.28\00:28:04.68 who could not interpret the dream 00:28:04.71\00:28:06.98 and reveal the dream. 00:28:07.02\00:28:08.48 You know, as a side note, 00:28:08.52\00:28:09.85 I think there are three levels of forgiveness. 00:28:09.88\00:28:12.79 We often only talk about one level of forgiveness. 00:28:12.82\00:28:15.52 That would be, Lord, I want you to forgive me. 00:28:15.56\00:28:18.16 And that's a beautiful level. 00:28:18.19\00:28:19.53 And that is an important level. 00:28:19.56\00:28:21.20 1 John1:9, "If we confess our sins, 00:28:21.23\00:28:23.53 He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins, 00:28:23.57\00:28:26.33 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:28:26.37\00:28:29.94 Second level is asking God to grant His forgiveness, 00:28:29.97\00:28:34.81 put it in my heart, to extend to someone else. 00:28:34.84\00:28:37.45 This'll be the people who have hurt us, 00:28:37.48\00:28:39.51 and we ask God, 00:28:39.55\00:28:41.25 "Would you give me Your forgiveness 00:28:41.28\00:28:43.25 so that I can extend it to my brothers and sisters." 00:28:43.28\00:28:47.39 Colossians 3:13, "Bear with one another, 00:28:47.42\00:28:50.76 and forgive one another, 00:28:50.79\00:28:52.23 even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do." 00:28:52.26\00:28:55.86 And I think many Christians, we stop there. 00:28:55.90\00:28:58.13 God would you forgive me and if someone else hurts me, 00:28:58.17\00:29:00.87 "Okay, would you give me 00:29:00.90\00:29:02.37 Your forgiveness for this person over here?" 00:29:02.40\00:29:04.87 But God asks us to also ask forgiveness 00:29:04.91\00:29:08.44 for other people's sins, 00:29:08.48\00:29:10.85 not because they've hurt us, 00:29:10.88\00:29:14.15 but because we're called to intercede 00:29:14.18\00:29:17.02 on behalf of brothers and sisters. 00:29:17.05\00:29:18.95 Think of Stephen, being stoned to death. 00:29:18.99\00:29:20.56 He didn't say, Okay, father, would you? 00:29:20.59\00:29:23.19 Oh, I'm struggling to forgive them 00:29:23.22\00:29:24.93 because I'm feeling angst against them. 00:29:24.96\00:29:26.56 They're about ready to kill me. 00:29:26.59\00:29:27.93 No, he said, 00:29:27.96\00:29:29.30 "Father, do not lay this into their charge," 00:29:29.33\00:29:31.27 because he cared about their eternal salvation. 00:29:31.30\00:29:35.20 That was Moses after the golden calf experience, 00:29:35.24\00:29:38.87 pleading, "Father, 00:29:38.91\00:29:40.71 block me out from your book, 00:29:40.74\00:29:43.21 but forgive and accept these people," 00:29:43.24\00:29:45.88 intercession for others. 00:29:45.91\00:29:47.98 So a true Christian cares about others. 00:29:48.02\00:29:50.39 Number two, 00:29:50.42\00:29:51.75 a true Christian will be known among men. 00:29:51.79\00:29:56.29 Verse 25, 00:29:56.32\00:29:57.66 "Then Arioch quickly brought Daniel 00:29:57.69\00:29:59.69 before the king and said thus to him, 00:29:59.73\00:30:01.86 I have found a man of the captives of Judah, 00:30:01.90\00:30:04.70 who will make known to the king the interpretation." 00:30:04.73\00:30:07.77 Now, I think there's two reasons 00:30:07.80\00:30:09.20 that a Christian is known among men. 00:30:09.24\00:30:11.11 First reason is due to hard work, 00:30:11.14\00:30:14.24 diligence, honesty, integrity. 00:30:14.28\00:30:18.28 Proverbs 22:29 says, 00:30:18.31\00:30:20.12 "Do you see a man who excels in his work? 00:30:20.15\00:30:23.18 He will stand before kings, 00:30:23.22\00:30:25.69 he will not stand before unknown men. 00:30:25.72\00:30:29.42 But the second reason 00:30:29.46\00:30:31.73 is because God in His divine sovereignty 00:30:31.76\00:30:35.70 and providence brings His children 00:30:35.73\00:30:39.43 before kings, before rulers 00:30:39.47\00:30:41.70 as a witness to who He is." 00:30:41.74\00:30:46.07 Matthew 10:18-20, 00:30:46.11\00:30:48.51 "You will be brought before governors 00:30:48.54\00:30:49.94 and kings for my sake, 00:30:49.98\00:30:52.15 as a testimony to them into the Gentiles. 00:30:52.18\00:30:55.38 But when they deliver you up, 00:30:55.42\00:30:56.75 don't worry about how or what you should speak. 00:30:56.79\00:30:59.12 For it will be given you in 00:30:59.15\00:31:00.66 that hour what you should speak. 00:31:00.69\00:31:02.52 It is not you who speak, 00:31:02.56\00:31:03.89 but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you." 00:31:03.93\00:31:06.80 So, many times God brings a Christian 00:31:06.83\00:31:09.76 to prominence or to be known among men as it were, 00:31:09.80\00:31:14.64 because He wants to witness 00:31:14.67\00:31:16.87 to those people of His love and His law. 00:31:16.91\00:31:19.71 Amen. 00:31:19.74\00:31:21.08 Lesson number three, 00:31:21.11\00:31:22.44 a true Christian always tells the truth. 00:31:22.48\00:31:25.91 Verses 26 and 27, 00:31:25.95\00:31:28.42 "The King answered and said to Daniel, 00:31:28.45\00:31:29.92 whose name was Belteshazzar, 00:31:29.95\00:31:31.75 'Are you able to make known to me the dream 00:31:31.79\00:31:33.82 which I have seen in its interpretation?' 00:31:33.86\00:31:36.29 Daniel answered in the presence of the king and said, 00:31:36.32\00:31:38.69 'The secret which the king has demanded, 00:31:38.73\00:31:40.76 the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, 00:31:40.80\00:31:42.93 and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king." 00:31:42.96\00:31:46.10 So Daniel could not tell the king 00:31:46.13\00:31:47.64 the dream or the interpretation, 00:31:47.67\00:31:49.57 the king's advisors couldn't tell the king 00:31:49.60\00:31:51.41 the dream or the interpretation either. 00:31:51.44\00:31:53.61 Now Daniel could have shaded the truth, 00:31:53.64\00:31:55.44 and he could have definitely evaded the answer 00:31:55.48\00:31:58.18 that he gave and just, 00:31:58.21\00:31:59.68 well, I'm coming to you right now with an answer, 00:31:59.71\00:32:03.49 and he could have just evaded it. 00:32:03.52\00:32:05.45 But he was honest as it were to a fault. 00:32:05.49\00:32:08.79 Speaking the truth deals with what he said. 00:32:08.82\00:32:10.83 Would you say that's true? Absolutely. 00:32:10.86\00:32:12.23 What we say deals with speaking the truth. 00:32:12.26\00:32:16.00 But it also deals with what is unsaid. 00:32:16.03\00:32:18.93 The truth is not just what we say. 00:32:18.97\00:32:21.10 The truth is what we don't say. 00:32:21.14\00:32:22.94 And the truth is also how we say it. 00:32:22.97\00:32:26.44 That's right. Yes. 00:32:26.47\00:32:28.14 Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. 00:32:28.18\00:32:31.68 Amen. John 14:6. 00:32:31.71\00:32:33.68 True Christians cannot lie. 00:32:33.72\00:32:36.79 Proverbs 12:22, 00:32:36.82\00:32:38.15 "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord. 00:32:38.19\00:32:40.92 But those who deal truthfully are His delight." 00:32:40.96\00:32:44.16 Ephesians 4:25, 00:32:44.19\00:32:45.76 "Put away lying, 00:32:45.79\00:32:48.10 let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, 00:32:48.13\00:32:51.27 for members of one another." 00:32:51.30\00:32:53.23 1 John 3:18, "My little children 00:32:53.27\00:32:55.57 let us not love in word or tongue, 00:32:55.60\00:32:57.31 but in deed and in truth." 00:32:57.34\00:32:59.67 So this means that we can lie even by our actions. 00:32:59.71\00:33:04.11 So, the true Christian cares about others, 00:33:04.15\00:33:06.41 will be known among men, tells the truth. 00:33:06.45\00:33:08.75 Number four, a true Christian never takes credit 00:33:08.78\00:33:11.72 for what God has done. 00:33:11.75\00:33:13.52 Amen. That's a good one. 00:33:13.56\00:33:15.06 Verse 28, 00:33:15.09\00:33:16.42 "There is a God in heaven," 00:33:16.46\00:33:17.79 this is Daniel speaking, "who revealed secrets. 00:33:17.83\00:33:20.50 And he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar 00:33:20.53\00:33:22.43 what will be in the latter days, 00:33:22.46\00:33:24.27 your dream and the visions of your head 00:33:24.30\00:33:25.83 upon your bed were these." 00:33:25.87\00:33:28.14 So give credit where credit is due. 00:33:28.17\00:33:30.41 Don't you hate it, Pastor Kenny, 00:33:30.44\00:33:31.77 when someone else gets the credit 00:33:31.81\00:33:33.34 for the work that you did? 00:33:33.38\00:33:35.98 And yet they didn't even contribute to the project, 00:33:36.01\00:33:38.21 and yet they claim all the credit. 00:33:38.25\00:33:40.58 Jeremiah 9:23-24, 00:33:40.62\00:33:43.08 "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, 00:33:43.12\00:33:46.12 let not the mighty man glory in his might, 00:33:46.15\00:33:49.29 or the rich man in his riches, 00:33:49.32\00:33:51.59 but let him who glories glory in this, 00:33:51.63\00:33:54.10 that he understands and knows me, 00:33:54.13\00:33:56.67 that I am the Lord exercising loving kindness, 00:33:56.70\00:33:59.60 judgment and righteousness in the earth. 00:33:59.63\00:34:01.70 For in these things I delight, says the Lord." 00:34:01.74\00:34:04.61 Number five, 00:34:04.64\00:34:05.97 a true Christian never misses an opportunity to witness. 00:34:06.01\00:34:10.78 Verse 29, 00:34:10.81\00:34:12.45 Daniel says, "As for you, O king, 00:34:12.48\00:34:14.68 thoughts came to your mind while on your bed, 00:34:14.72\00:34:19.55 about what would come to pass after this 00:34:19.59\00:34:21.42 and He who reveals secrets has made known to you 00:34:21.46\00:34:24.83 what will be." 00:34:24.86\00:34:26.19 Now in these six verses, Daniel says three times 00:34:26.23\00:34:29.16 that it was God who revealed the dream. 00:34:29.20\00:34:32.77 There's an old marketing adage 00:34:32.80\00:34:34.40 that's called the rule of seven. 00:34:34.44\00:34:35.77 It says, someone needs to hear it seven times, 00:34:35.80\00:34:38.44 before they finally buy in, 00:34:38.47\00:34:40.38 take action and buy from you. 00:34:40.41\00:34:42.34 You might say, I already told my neighbor that. 00:34:42.38\00:34:44.65 Tell them again. 00:34:44.68\00:34:46.01 You might say, I already witnessed to my co-worker, 00:34:46.05\00:34:48.68 I already talked to my family member. 00:34:48.72\00:34:50.89 Witness, every time, 00:34:50.92\00:34:52.95 take every opportunity 00:34:52.99\00:34:54.99 you can to witness for the Lord. 00:34:55.02\00:34:57.39 And finally number six, 00:34:57.43\00:34:59.36 a true Christian walks in humility. 00:34:59.39\00:35:03.13 Verse 30, Daniel says, "As for me, 00:35:03.16\00:35:05.43 the secret is not revealed to me 00:35:05.47\00:35:07.04 because I have more wisdom than anyone living, 00:35:07.07\00:35:09.80 but for our sakes 00:35:09.84\00:35:11.17 who make known the interpretation to the king, 00:35:11.21\00:35:13.24 that you may know the thoughts of your heart." 00:35:13.27\00:35:15.44 So a true Christian walks in humility. 00:35:15.48\00:35:18.55 Pastor Kenny, you have the Image. 00:35:18.58\00:35:19.91 Praise the Lord. 00:35:19.95\00:35:21.28 Yeah, well, you know, 00:35:21.32\00:35:22.65 this is one of the most familiar, 00:35:22.68\00:35:24.02 probably, as those who study prophecy, 00:35:24.05\00:35:25.39 Daniel Chapter 2. 00:35:25.42\00:35:26.76 So since it is, and there's a lot of reading there. 00:35:26.79\00:35:28.59 I'd like to just go over 00:35:28.62\00:35:29.96 and just hit the high points of it, 00:35:29.99\00:35:31.33 then try to get into some things 00:35:31.36\00:35:32.69 that might be of help to us. 00:35:32.73\00:35:35.26 As this dream was, you know, 00:35:35.30\00:35:37.60 given as Nebuchadnezzar had the dream and then, 00:35:37.63\00:35:40.34 of course, the Holy Spirit God came in 00:35:40.37\00:35:42.24 and gave Daniel the interpretation thereof. 00:35:42.27\00:35:44.91 Then He came back and he just simply said, 00:35:44.94\00:35:46.47 like you say, he could have got out of it. 00:35:46.51\00:35:48.34 He could have dished it off somewhere else, 00:35:48.38\00:35:49.84 he could have stopped after this first time, 00:35:49.88\00:35:51.65 said, you're the head of gold, but he didn't. 00:35:51.68\00:35:53.38 He went on because he, 00:35:53.42\00:35:54.75 as you mentioned, he was truthful. 00:35:54.78\00:35:56.12 He's a man of God. 00:35:56.15\00:35:57.49 So the head of gold represents Babylon, 00:35:57.52\00:35:58.85 as we well know. 00:35:58.89\00:36:00.22 It goes to the second one, the chest and arms of silver. 00:36:00.26\00:36:02.39 This is what we're going to do, just go down, 00:36:02.42\00:36:03.76 leave you some homework and study for you to do. 00:36:03.79\00:36:05.99 It stands for Medo-Persia. 00:36:06.03\00:36:07.36 Then the next power that came up wasn't it brass, 00:36:07.40\00:36:10.07 we look at was, was a belly of thighs, 00:36:10.10\00:36:12.57 and brass symbolizes Greece, and then legs of iron. 00:36:12.60\00:36:15.30 And then it breaks down to the toes of iron and clay, 00:36:15.34\00:36:18.11 which is really church and state getting together. 00:36:18.14\00:36:20.01 We see that happening even in the day 00:36:20.04\00:36:21.38 in which we're living right now. 00:36:21.41\00:36:22.74 So, we need to be studying those things 00:36:22.78\00:36:24.35 to see whether they'd be so. 00:36:24.38\00:36:26.21 But to me as I looked at those and studied and again, 00:36:26.25\00:36:28.98 it's always good, I realized there's new people 00:36:29.02\00:36:30.59 and they've never studied it, 00:36:30.62\00:36:31.95 and should take time to do this thing. 00:36:31.99\00:36:33.76 But I want to encourage you, 00:36:33.79\00:36:35.12 because the question is asked in this lesson, 00:36:35.16\00:36:36.89 Image, part two, 00:36:36.93\00:36:38.26 what does this teach us 00:36:38.29\00:36:39.63 about God's foreknowledge of world history? 00:36:39.66\00:36:42.26 You know, does this really teach us something? 00:36:42.30\00:36:44.10 Is there's something we need to really be looking at, 00:36:44.13\00:36:45.83 so I've tried to look at that question and say, 00:36:45.87\00:36:48.20 you know, what does? 00:36:48.24\00:36:49.67 What does the Word of God teach us 00:36:49.70\00:36:51.37 about God's foreknowledge in history of the world or, 00:36:51.41\00:36:54.64 you know, anything goes on, 00:36:54.68\00:36:56.01 is God aware of everything that goes on. 00:36:56.04\00:36:57.61 I think the panel's made it very clear, 00:36:57.65\00:36:59.48 even in our previous lessons. 00:36:59.51\00:37:00.85 I want to just go over a few of those things right now, 00:37:00.88\00:37:02.95 history of God's knowledge. 00:37:02.98\00:37:04.32 I jotted this down, I thought it was interesting. 00:37:04.35\00:37:05.95 Israel's future or the history of Israel 00:37:05.99\00:37:08.69 was shown to Moses. 00:37:08.72\00:37:10.83 That must have really been a handful for Daniel, 00:37:10.86\00:37:13.13 to be given to him, the history. 00:37:13.16\00:37:14.76 So God knew the history and He laid it out there. 00:37:14.80\00:37:17.33 Also the history of this world is marked out, 00:37:17.37\00:37:19.93 link by link in prophecy, 00:37:19.97\00:37:22.30 if we'll get in and study the Word of God. 00:37:22.34\00:37:25.21 Most of ancient history is found in Scripture. 00:37:25.24\00:37:27.81 I thought this is not what, God is revealing history to, 00:37:27.84\00:37:30.61 God is revealing things that we need to know 00:37:30.65\00:37:33.08 in this hour of earth's history. 00:37:33.11\00:37:34.82 And the most interesting and instructive history 00:37:34.85\00:37:37.69 is found in the Bible. 00:37:37.72\00:37:39.29 You know, this is where, we go to school, right? 00:37:39.32\00:37:41.69 And you take history, you know, 00:37:41.72\00:37:43.66 well, somebody needs to get the Bible out, 00:37:43.69\00:37:45.09 isn't that right? 00:37:45.13\00:37:46.46 Because the most important historical things 00:37:46.49\00:37:47.83 are found in the Word of God 00:37:47.86\00:37:49.30 and that's one thing they tried to remove. 00:37:49.33\00:37:51.07 So we need to go back to that for sure. 00:37:51.10\00:37:53.07 History of the world is written, 00:37:53.10\00:37:54.44 we know under the direction of the Holy Spirit. 00:37:54.47\00:37:56.81 It's all laid out there for us, we understand. 00:37:56.84\00:37:59.81 God knows all of our plans. 00:37:59.84\00:38:01.51 He knows them from the very beginning. 00:38:01.54\00:38:03.35 He's talking about it here. 00:38:03.38\00:38:04.71 How does this, what does it teach us about 00:38:04.75\00:38:06.28 world history and the knowledge of God? 00:38:06.31\00:38:07.72 He knows everything. 00:38:07.75\00:38:09.08 He knows our plans, 00:38:09.12\00:38:10.45 from the beginning to the end. 00:38:10.49\00:38:12.19 Every act of man's life, this is like blows your mind, 00:38:12.22\00:38:15.69 you think about God in His mind, 00:38:15.72\00:38:17.63 He knows every act, every thought, 00:38:17.66\00:38:19.29 every word, every deed, every action. 00:38:19.33\00:38:21.36 Everything that happens in any part of the universe, 00:38:21.40\00:38:24.37 God knows. 00:38:24.40\00:38:25.73 That's right. 00:38:25.77\00:38:27.10 The universe is pretty big, I assume. 00:38:27.14\00:38:28.94 Way bigger than I can understand. 00:38:28.97\00:38:30.41 But God knows every little thing 00:38:30.44\00:38:31.77 that's going on there. 00:38:31.81\00:38:33.17 So every government, the kings, presidents, 00:38:33.21\00:38:36.24 leaders, rulers, nations, 00:38:36.28\00:38:38.41 what we need to remember 00:38:38.45\00:38:40.18 that they are under God, God's not under them. 00:38:40.22\00:38:43.89 And yet under God is the thing that we try to take out. 00:38:43.92\00:38:47.62 You notice that, things under God, 00:38:47.66\00:38:49.12 we try to take it out, all this is subject to God. 00:38:49.16\00:38:52.69 It's all written out. 00:38:52.73\00:38:54.06 It's going to come to pass just exactly like 00:38:54.10\00:38:55.53 He says it's going to. 00:38:55.56\00:38:57.70 If we didn't have time to say anymore, 00:38:57.73\00:38:59.33 I thought it was very interesting 00:38:59.37\00:39:00.70 in Daniel 2:47 and 49, 00:39:00.74\00:39:04.07 it really tells me something about. 00:39:04.11\00:39:06.11 You started about the King Nebuchadnezzar, 00:39:06.14\00:39:08.04 because King Nebuchadnezzar, 00:39:08.08\00:39:09.94 you know, this is what he had to say to Daniel, 00:39:09.98\00:39:13.35 after he met God. 00:39:13.38\00:39:15.72 You know what we say about God before we really meet Him, 00:39:15.75\00:39:19.62 you know, in personal, in our life is different 00:39:19.65\00:39:21.82 than after we meet him. 00:39:21.86\00:39:24.59 You know, Nebuchadnezzar was a pagan, 00:39:24.63\00:39:26.59 Daniel was a man who loved God. 00:39:26.63\00:39:28.76 But you notice there, after Nebuchadnezzar met God, 00:39:28.80\00:39:32.47 he began to say, "Wow, 00:39:32.50\00:39:34.37 He certainly is the God of God, right? 00:39:34.40\00:39:36.24 He's the one that sits upon the throne." 00:39:36.27\00:39:39.04 So I'm just encouraging you that once you meet God, 00:39:39.07\00:39:42.68 once you have relationship with God, 00:39:42.71\00:39:44.31 your attitude's going to change, 00:39:44.35\00:39:46.05 your life's going to change, 00:39:46.08\00:39:47.42 your thoughts are going to change. 00:39:47.45\00:39:48.78 It's all going to be very, very different. 00:39:48.82\00:39:51.29 And so that was his response to the heathen king. 00:39:51.32\00:39:54.02 He said, "He was touched by the power of God 00:39:54.06\00:39:56.62 in a very special way. 00:39:56.66\00:39:58.49 So, and again outline Chapter 2 as we go through there, 00:39:58.53\00:40:01.40 that will also help us in Daniel Chapter 7, 00:40:01.43\00:40:04.37 Daniel Chapter 8 and 11. 00:40:04.40\00:40:07.67 So it's good to get that all in, you know, 00:40:07.70\00:40:09.74 and focus, so that we can go on and study the prophecy. 00:40:09.77\00:40:13.38 I like this, a Fundamental of Education, 00:40:13.41\00:40:15.64 page 411-412 says this, 00:40:15.68\00:40:17.51 "The Lord was working in the Babylonian kingdom, 00:40:17.55\00:40:20.65 giving light to the four Hebrew captives." 00:40:20.68\00:40:23.49 God was working and had to come back, 00:40:23.52\00:40:25.75 we have to say, why would God do that? 00:40:25.79\00:40:27.89 These are all that turned their back on God, 00:40:27.92\00:40:29.49 they were worshiping other gods, 00:40:29.52\00:40:31.06 but again, merciful God, 00:40:31.09\00:40:32.76 still working up on them, He was working with them, why? 00:40:32.79\00:40:35.93 So He could reveal to them that He had power over, 00:40:35.96\00:40:40.10 notice, kingdoms of the world. 00:40:40.14\00:40:42.00 He set them up that you read, and He takes them down, 00:40:42.04\00:40:45.31 kingdoms and kings. 00:40:45.34\00:40:46.81 God was speaking to the king. 00:40:46.84\00:40:48.24 He was speaking to his mind, speaking we say to his heart, 00:40:48.28\00:40:51.61 simply trying to, as He's doing today, 00:40:51.65\00:40:53.78 in my opinion, trying to wake us up, 00:40:53.82\00:40:55.75 trying to wake us up in the hour in which we live. 00:40:55.78\00:40:57.95 Probation's closing, Jesus is coming. 00:40:57.99\00:40:59.89 There's a day that doors going to be shut, 00:40:59.92\00:41:01.66 there're decisions that we have to make. 00:41:01.69\00:41:03.39 And God is bringing out information right now 00:41:03.43\00:41:05.56 that I think will be so valuable 00:41:05.59\00:41:07.73 if we just, you know, 00:41:07.76\00:41:09.10 get our mind and heart into the book and say, 00:41:09.13\00:41:11.50 God is showing Himself to be God. 00:41:11.53\00:41:13.44 He was doing that to King Nebuchadnezzar, 00:41:13.47\00:41:15.04 say, "I'll show you who is God, 00:41:15.07\00:41:16.84 I'm gonna show you the right God to worship here." 00:41:16.87\00:41:19.44 Here God shows Himself superior to any other god, 00:41:19.47\00:41:23.95 and their gods that they had. 00:41:23.98\00:41:25.35 Praise God for that. 00:41:25.38\00:41:26.85 Because He was challenged with the most educated as it were, 00:41:26.88\00:41:31.42 He was challenged with those who were talented, 00:41:31.45\00:41:33.59 and all the men in Babylon 00:41:33.62\00:41:35.06 and then God is still superior to all of these, 00:41:35.09\00:41:37.23 we call them brains. 00:41:37.26\00:41:38.59 He was superior to all of them. 00:41:38.63\00:41:40.33 God was revealing that He's a God, 00:41:40.36\00:41:42.43 the Bible said, of heaven. 00:41:42.46\00:41:44.67 He's the God of heaven and earth, 00:41:44.70\00:41:46.10 He reveal us secrets. 00:41:46.13\00:41:48.20 That's right. And only God can do that. 00:41:48.24\00:41:49.90 God was revealing what? 00:41:49.94\00:41:51.34 Historic events. 00:41:51.37\00:41:53.17 God was revealing that, you know, 00:41:53.21\00:41:55.14 things related to the kings 00:41:55.18\00:41:57.08 and the kingdoms that were yet to come. 00:41:57.11\00:41:59.71 He was doing that before it ever happened. 00:41:59.75\00:42:01.68 So it's important for him or Nebuchadnezzar 00:42:01.72\00:42:04.05 to remember what he had dreamed and yet he forgot. 00:42:04.09\00:42:07.42 That's right. 00:42:07.46\00:42:08.79 He forgot, you know, if you ever do that, 00:42:08.82\00:42:10.16 have something very, very important, 00:42:10.19\00:42:11.53 you say, I'm going to, I've got to remember this, 00:42:11.56\00:42:13.16 I'm going to put this up and put in a certain spot, 00:42:13.19\00:42:14.86 because I want to remember where it's at. 00:42:14.90\00:42:16.23 And then you forget the spot. 00:42:16.26\00:42:17.60 You know, it's important, 00:42:17.63\00:42:19.33 you don't quite do the right thing, 00:42:19.37\00:42:20.70 maybe write it down and maybe pin it 00:42:20.74\00:42:22.14 or put it on your nose or something. 00:42:22.17\00:42:23.91 Because you know, we forget, you know, 00:42:23.94\00:42:26.47 you think about it, 00:42:26.51\00:42:27.84 he could not remember this dream. 00:42:27.88\00:42:30.35 And you'll say, well, why? Why? 00:42:30.38\00:42:32.21 Why couldn't he remember this dream? 00:42:32.25\00:42:33.58 Why? Why? 00:42:33.62\00:42:34.95 Because all the wise men were all drug into this thing. 00:42:34.98\00:42:37.99 What would they have done with this information? 00:42:38.02\00:42:40.86 You know, if they knew what it was, 00:42:40.89\00:42:42.22 what my interpretation might they have put on it? 00:42:42.26\00:42:44.69 It certainly would have been false 00:42:44.73\00:42:46.06 and would it not? 00:42:46.09\00:42:47.43 We know these lessons are given to us by God. 00:42:47.46\00:42:50.17 There's no doubt, for those who live 00:42:50.20\00:42:51.63 we say it over and over. 00:42:51.67\00:42:53.00 I think we should say it from lesson one till we end, 00:42:53.03\00:42:55.90 that this is for our day. 00:42:55.94\00:42:57.74 We need this book. 00:42:57.77\00:42:59.41 We need to be studying these things. 00:42:59.44\00:43:02.61 Even today we find out here how closely it resembles 00:43:02.64\00:43:05.55 the wise men of today. 00:43:05.58\00:43:07.38 They're supposedly wise men of today. 00:43:07.42\00:43:08.98 But you know, it just takes a simple thing 00:43:09.02\00:43:10.59 to stump them sometime, 00:43:10.62\00:43:12.05 because they have not the Spirit of the Living God. 00:43:12.09\00:43:13.86 That's right. Spiritual things are what? 00:43:13.89\00:43:15.79 Spiritually discerned. 00:43:15.82\00:43:17.19 And sometime we know we're not in tune 00:43:17.23\00:43:18.96 where they have no discernment, they have no learning, 00:43:18.99\00:43:20.93 they really have no knowledge apart from God. 00:43:20.96\00:43:24.23 They're not able to understand the prophecies 00:43:24.27\00:43:26.67 that are so important for our day, 00:43:26.70\00:43:28.64 which we need with all of our heart. 00:43:28.67\00:43:30.24 If we're not studying and listening 00:43:30.27\00:43:31.71 and watching and praying right now, 00:43:31.74\00:43:33.41 it could be possible 00:43:33.44\00:43:34.78 that we're really not God's people here 00:43:34.81\00:43:36.14 in these last days. 00:43:36.18\00:43:37.51 I mean, is it possible? 00:43:37.55\00:43:38.88 You know, I'd like to think about this 00:43:38.91\00:43:40.52 and keep in our mind. 00:43:40.55\00:43:43.18 I think somebody brought this up, 00:43:43.22\00:43:45.05 that the Hebrews, 00:43:45.09\00:43:47.06 and we are talking about the four of them here. 00:43:47.09\00:43:48.96 You know, they were not interested 00:43:48.99\00:43:50.53 in receiving any credit, 00:43:50.56\00:43:52.99 for what God had used them to do. 00:43:53.03\00:43:55.86 You know, I mean, that's brought out 00:43:55.90\00:43:57.23 very clear in here and why? 00:43:57.27\00:43:58.60 Because they weren't worried about being lifted up. 00:43:58.63\00:44:01.34 They saw God in everything 00:44:01.37\00:44:03.54 that was going on like we should. 00:44:03.57\00:44:05.67 They rejoiced that God was being elevated 00:44:05.71\00:44:08.24 and lifted up rather than mankind. 00:44:08.28\00:44:11.51 Above all the earth, 00:44:11.55\00:44:12.88 it was God that receiving praise 00:44:12.91\00:44:14.38 and honor and glory and not man. 00:44:14.42\00:44:18.35 I like it because this quickly with Daniel, 00:44:18.39\00:44:22.62 he was elevated, man, 00:44:22.66\00:44:24.46 to the high part, right? 00:44:24.49\00:44:25.83 But notice this, somebody mentioned in passing, 00:44:25.86\00:44:28.20 that He did not forget those who labored with him. 00:44:28.23\00:44:32.57 That's right. He did not forget them. 00:44:32.60\00:44:34.30 In fact, he said, when the king said, 00:44:34.34\00:44:36.07 I'll give you whatever, he said what? 00:44:36.10\00:44:38.27 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, 00:44:38.31\00:44:39.81 my friends, I want them to be up here too. 00:44:39.84\00:44:42.28 See, sometimes we go along, 00:44:42.31\00:44:43.65 and sometimes we forget those 00:44:43.68\00:44:45.01 who helped us in where we are at today. 00:44:45.05\00:44:47.62 By the grace of God, we know God does everything, 00:44:47.65\00:44:49.75 but we need to not forget them. 00:44:49.78\00:44:52.35 And if God sees fit to elevate as it were, 00:44:52.39\00:44:55.12 where we can help to bring them up, 00:44:55.16\00:44:57.53 bring them up. 00:44:57.56\00:44:58.89 Don't forget, pray with them, work with them 00:44:58.93\00:45:00.73 and we'd see what God said. 00:45:00.76\00:45:02.10 Let's learn the lesson, 00:45:02.13\00:45:03.63 just keep it in mind right here, 00:45:03.67\00:45:05.70 they learned the lesson of Jesus Christ. 00:45:05.73\00:45:08.40 We must learn the lesson of Jesus Christ. 00:45:08.44\00:45:11.11 This is the true science of the Bible 00:45:11.14\00:45:15.14 is learn the science of Jesus Christ. 00:45:15.18\00:45:16.71 "Blessed are the pure in heart," 00:45:16.75\00:45:18.15 Matthew 5:8, "for they shall," what? 00:45:18.18\00:45:20.08 See God. "They shall see God." 00:45:20.12\00:45:23.12 Thank you all. 00:45:23.15\00:45:25.25 I've listened and I've gleaned. 00:45:25.29\00:45:27.56 You know, the only good thing 00:45:27.59\00:45:28.92 about being the last is kind of like a cherry picker. 00:45:28.96\00:45:32.13 You know, they spit out the seeds 00:45:32.16\00:45:33.53 and we pick them up to find value in them. 00:45:33.56\00:45:35.83 Mine is Thursday, The Stone, The Stone. 00:45:35.86\00:45:41.34 I want to begin by reading Daniel 2:34-35. 00:45:41.37\00:45:46.68 This is talking about the fact that God is always in charge. 00:45:46.71\00:45:51.15 Amen. 00:45:51.18\00:45:52.51 All the kingdoms that were pictured by Daniel 00:45:52.55\00:45:55.68 or given to Nebuchadnezzar in the dream, 00:45:55.72\00:45:59.02 Daniel interpreted every one of them 00:45:59.05\00:46:00.69 as a temporary kingdom, but notice, 00:46:00.72\00:46:03.53 God's kingdom is the only eternal kingdom. 00:46:03.56\00:46:07.30 Verse 34, 00:46:07.33\00:46:09.06 "You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, 00:46:09.10\00:46:14.00 which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay 00:46:14.04\00:46:16.74 and broke them in pieces. 00:46:16.77\00:46:18.71 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, 00:46:18.74\00:46:20.28 the silver and the gold were crushed together 00:46:20.31\00:46:23.31 and became like chaff 00:46:23.35\00:46:24.95 from the summer threshing floors. 00:46:24.98\00:46:27.62 The wind carried them away 00:46:27.65\00:46:29.18 so that no trace of them was found. 00:46:29.22\00:46:32.45 And the stone that struck the image 00:46:32.49\00:46:35.36 became a great mountain and filled the whole earth." 00:46:35.39\00:46:39.96 The stone, Christ establishes kingdom on Himself. 00:46:40.00\00:46:43.67 That's right. The stone that fills the earth. 00:46:43.70\00:46:45.73 So I want to point out 10 aspects, 00:46:45.77\00:46:48.24 Jill, of the stone, 00:46:48.27\00:46:51.04 because the entire book brings out one aspect 00:46:51.07\00:46:53.74 or the other of Christ. 00:46:53.78\00:46:55.28 Let's go to Genesis 28:11. 00:46:55.31\00:46:57.05 We're going to move real quickly here. 00:46:57.08\00:46:58.98 Genesis 28:11 00:46:59.01\00:47:01.75 and the Bible, from the very beginning 00:47:01.78\00:47:03.28 to the very end of the Bible, 00:47:03.32\00:47:04.65 you find that Jesus is revealed. 00:47:04.69\00:47:07.19 Speaking about Jacob, 00:47:07.22\00:47:09.09 "So he came to a certain place 00:47:09.12\00:47:10.56 and stayed there all night," 00:47:10.59\00:47:12.29 you know, he's running from Esau, 00:47:12.33\00:47:14.10 "because the sun had set. 00:47:14.13\00:47:15.80 And he took one of the stones of that place 00:47:15.83\00:47:19.53 and put it at his head, 00:47:19.57\00:47:21.94 and he laid down in that place to sleep." 00:47:21.97\00:47:25.37 I saw Jesus says, the peaceful stone, 00:47:25.41\00:47:29.28 the peaceful stone. 00:47:29.31\00:47:30.98 Isaiah 26:3, 00:47:31.01\00:47:32.91 notice where He put the stone, He put His head on the stone, 00:47:32.95\00:47:36.22 when notice how Isaiah interprets that, 00:47:36.25\00:47:39.42 "You will keep him in perfect peace, 00:47:39.45\00:47:41.09 whose mind is stayed on you, 00:47:41.12\00:47:43.96 because He trusts in you." 00:47:43.99\00:47:46.46 What's in the head? 00:47:46.49\00:47:47.90 The mind. That's right. 00:47:47.93\00:47:49.26 He put His head on the stone where his Mind is. 00:47:49.30\00:47:52.70 When our minds are on Christ, we will have perfect peace. 00:47:52.73\00:47:57.77 Not only that, 00:47:57.81\00:47:59.24 let's go to Acts 10:38. 00:47:59.27\00:48:04.38 This is, Jesus is first the peaceful stone 00:48:04.41\00:48:06.95 then he is... 00:48:06.98\00:48:08.42 Let's read Acts 10:38, 00:48:08.45\00:48:11.09 "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth 00:48:11.12\00:48:13.42 with the Holy Spirit and with power, 00:48:13.46\00:48:15.32 who went about doing good 00:48:15.36\00:48:16.69 and healing all who are oppressed by the devil, 00:48:16.73\00:48:19.43 for God was with Him." 00:48:19.46\00:48:21.23 Jesus is also the anointed stone. 00:48:21.26\00:48:25.63 Now, anointing is a form of endorsement. 00:48:25.67\00:48:28.97 Jesus is not only the anointed stone, 00:48:29.00\00:48:30.71 but the endorsed stone. 00:48:30.74\00:48:32.44 Look at another example in John 12:3, 00:48:32.47\00:48:35.04 how once again all through the Bible, 00:48:35.08\00:48:37.01 you see that anointing, 00:48:37.05\00:48:38.38 that endorsement of His divinity. 00:48:38.41\00:48:39.91 "Then Mary took a pound 00:48:39.95\00:48:41.28 of very costly oil of spikenard, 00:48:41.32\00:48:42.75 anointed the feet of Jesus 00:48:42.78\00:48:44.12 and wiped His feet with her hair. 00:48:44.15\00:48:46.25 And the house was filled with a fragrance of the oil." 00:48:46.29\00:48:48.89 The fragrance of the oil was released on the person 00:48:48.92\00:48:52.66 who is the stone... 00:48:52.69\00:48:54.03 That's right. Christ Jesus. 00:48:54.06\00:48:55.40 Third one, the worshipped stone. 00:48:55.43\00:48:58.07 Genesis 28:22, 00:48:58.10\00:49:00.24 "And this stone which I have set as a pillar 00:49:00.27\00:49:02.47 shall be God's house." 00:49:02.50\00:49:04.54 Jesus is the stone of worship. 00:49:04.57\00:49:06.71 He is our form of worship. 00:49:06.74\00:49:08.61 He is the only one worthy of worship. 00:49:08.64\00:49:10.71 He's referred to here as the pillar 00:49:10.75\00:49:12.95 that shall be the house of God. 00:49:12.98\00:49:14.75 The church is built on the stone. 00:49:14.78\00:49:17.15 Christ is that stone. 00:49:17.19\00:49:19.12 Now we go to Ephesians 2:20, 00:49:19.15\00:49:21.69 the exclusive Savior. 00:49:21.72\00:49:23.86 We'll find out what kind of stone He is. 00:49:23.89\00:49:26.26 "Having been built on the foundation 00:49:26.29\00:49:28.36 of the apostles and prophets, 00:49:28.40\00:49:30.20 Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone." 00:49:30.23\00:49:34.54 He's the cornerstone, so you can see 00:49:34.57\00:49:37.41 why Daniel said that that stone has enough in him 00:49:37.44\00:49:41.54 to decapitate and erase every kingdom 00:49:41.58\00:49:44.08 ever built by man regardless of his grandeur. 00:49:44.11\00:49:47.82 And it says, "For no other foundation 00:49:47.85\00:49:49.58 can anyone lay 00:49:49.62\00:49:51.02 that which is laid which is Christ Jesus," 00:49:51.05\00:49:53.09 1 Corinthians 3:11. 00:49:53.12\00:49:54.96 That's the only foundation that could survive, 00:49:54.99\00:49:56.73 because He is the stone. 00:49:56.76\00:49:58.53 There is no other foundation but Him. 00:49:58.56\00:50:00.33 That's right. 00:50:00.36\00:50:01.70 And then the Bible also points out Revelation 21:19, 00:50:01.73\00:50:04.40 "Every one of the foundations under our feet, 00:50:04.43\00:50:07.64 he is also the precious stone. 00:50:07.67\00:50:10.87 Let's go to Acts 4:11, 00:50:10.91\00:50:14.44 "This is the stone 00:50:14.48\00:50:15.81 which was rejected by you builders, 00:50:15.84\00:50:18.91 which has become the chief cornerstone." 00:50:18.95\00:50:21.15 This is the sad part of the story. 00:50:21.18\00:50:24.02 There are so many people 00:50:24.05\00:50:25.39 whose lives could be more stable 00:50:25.42\00:50:26.76 if they builded on the stone that they rejected. 00:50:26.79\00:50:30.63 The rejected stone, 00:50:30.66\00:50:32.13 or I refer to Him as the ignored stone. 00:50:32.16\00:50:35.20 He is despised and rejected of men, 00:50:35.23\00:50:38.13 the Bible pointed that about Jesus. 00:50:38.17\00:50:40.27 Now, Exodus 24:12, I'm moving quickly 00:50:40.30\00:50:42.67 because Jill knows what it's like with all these lists. 00:50:42.70\00:50:46.17 Exodus 24:12. 00:50:46.21\00:50:47.84 "Then the Lord said to Moses, 00:50:47.88\00:50:49.21 'Come up to me on the mountain and be there 00:50:49.24\00:50:51.78 and I will give you tablets of stones 00:50:51.81\00:50:54.92 and the law and the commandments 00:50:54.95\00:50:56.32 which I have written, that you may teach them.'" 00:50:56.35\00:50:59.05 Jesus is the moral stone, 00:50:59.09\00:51:02.06 unmovable, 00:51:02.09\00:51:03.43 showing the consistency of that stone, 00:51:03.46\00:51:06.26 the moral stone. 00:51:06.29\00:51:08.00 Then we go to Isaiah 28:16, 00:51:08.03\00:51:10.90 "Therefore thus says the Lord God, 00:51:10.93\00:51:13.13 'Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation.'" 00:51:13.17\00:51:16.40 What kind of stone? 00:51:16.44\00:51:17.77 A tried stone. 00:51:17.81\00:51:19.41 Jesus is reliable. 00:51:19.44\00:51:20.84 If you're going through trials, don't try anybody else. 00:51:20.88\00:51:23.71 Try Jesus, He's the only tried stone that there is, 00:51:23.75\00:51:27.45 a reliable stone, a tried stone. 00:51:27.48\00:51:30.42 Let's go on, 1 Samuel 17:40, 00:51:30.45\00:51:33.25 "Then he took his staff in his hand," 00:51:33.29\00:51:35.12 this is David, 00:51:35.16\00:51:36.49 "and he chose for himself five smooth stones 00:51:36.52\00:51:39.09 from the brook and put them in the shepherd's bag 00:51:39.13\00:51:41.30 in a pouch which he had and his sling within his hand, 00:51:41.33\00:51:44.67 and he drew near to the Philistine." 00:51:44.70\00:51:46.84 "So, David prevailed," verse 50, 00:51:46.87\00:51:49.70 "over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, 00:51:49.74\00:51:53.24 Jesus is the victorious stone." 00:51:53.27\00:51:56.38 The victorious stone. 00:51:56.41\00:51:57.75 So He is all throughout the Bible 00:51:57.78\00:51:59.15 from the beginning to the very end. 00:51:59.18\00:52:01.18 David could not win by his ability, 00:52:01.22\00:52:04.42 but he won by his availability. 00:52:04.45\00:52:06.96 When you make yourself available to Christ, 00:52:06.99\00:52:10.09 he may seem small and insignificant, 00:52:10.13\00:52:12.03 but there's no giant in your life 00:52:12.06\00:52:13.56 that could stand before this tried stone. 00:52:13.60\00:52:16.16 Regardless of the big things that you're troubled by, 00:52:16.20\00:52:19.03 regardless of the large habits you are challenged by, 00:52:19.07\00:52:21.77 regardless of the large sins that are holding you down, 00:52:21.80\00:52:24.81 just sling the stone toward any of those, 00:52:24.84\00:52:27.64 and you'll find victory in Christ. 00:52:27.68\00:52:29.11 He is the victorious stone. 00:52:29.14\00:52:31.08 Not only that, let's go to Exodus 28:16. 00:52:31.11\00:52:35.35 This is an amazing one because it taught... 00:52:35.38\00:52:36.82 I'm in Ezekiel 28:16. 00:52:36.85\00:52:38.95 This is talking about the place that Lucifer forfeited. 00:52:38.99\00:52:41.92 What was the place he forfeited? 00:52:41.96\00:52:43.56 Notice what the Bible says in verse 16 00:52:43.59\00:52:45.96 of Exodus Chapter 28. 00:52:45.99\00:52:47.60 Ezekiel? Ezekiel 28. 00:52:47.63\00:52:49.80 I get my, it's hard to mix them up, 00:52:49.83\00:52:52.37 but easy not to mix them up. 00:52:52.40\00:52:54.54 You figure that out. 00:52:54.57\00:52:56.67 "By the abundance of your trading," 00:52:56.71\00:52:58.71 that is about Lucifer, 00:52:58.74\00:53:00.08 "you became filled with violence within 00:53:00.11\00:53:02.01 and you sinned. 00:53:02.04\00:53:03.38 Therefore I cast you as a profane thing 00:53:03.41\00:53:06.88 out of the mountain of God. 00:53:06.92\00:53:08.62 And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, 00:53:08.65\00:53:11.79 from the midst of the fiery stones." 00:53:11.82\00:53:14.36 Our God is a consuming fire. 00:53:14.39\00:53:16.32 The stones were fiery, 00:53:16.36\00:53:18.39 because Christ is a consuming fire. 00:53:18.43\00:53:20.96 There's no stone that could be in the presence of Christ 00:53:21.00\00:53:23.67 that will not be a stone that is lit on fire. 00:53:23.70\00:53:26.23 If you want your life to be on fire, 00:53:26.27\00:53:28.04 walk back and forth 00:53:28.07\00:53:29.54 in the midst of the presence of God. 00:53:29.57\00:53:31.07 Amen. 00:53:31.11\00:53:32.44 And finally, this is my favorite. 00:53:32.47\00:53:33.81 They're all my favorite, but this is my favorite, 00:53:33.84\00:53:35.71 because I know what this means to me. 00:53:35.74\00:53:37.81 Revelation 2:17, 00:53:37.85\00:53:40.48 "He who has an ear, 00:53:40.52\00:53:42.52 let him hear what the Spirit says 00:53:42.55\00:53:44.09 to the churches, to him who overcomes 00:53:44.12\00:53:46.45 I will give some of the hidden manna to eat, 00:53:46.49\00:53:49.42 and I will give him a white stone 00:53:49.46\00:53:52.29 and on the stone a new name, 00:53:52.33\00:53:54.30 which no one knows except him who receives it." 00:53:54.33\00:53:56.80 I got to spend a minute on this. 00:53:56.83\00:53:58.70 In the Roman court 00:53:58.73\00:54:00.64 when the jury was hung, 00:54:00.67\00:54:03.67 it was up to the accused to decide his fate. 00:54:03.71\00:54:07.44 And so they, it was a terrible process. 00:54:07.48\00:54:10.51 They put a stone, 00:54:10.55\00:54:12.15 two stones in a leather bag, 00:54:12.18\00:54:14.08 kind of like on, let's make it, you peel, 00:54:14.12\00:54:15.88 put out one of the two, red one, you win, 00:54:15.92\00:54:19.45 black one, yeah, whatever. 00:54:19.49\00:54:21.16 There was a white stone and a black stone. 00:54:21.19\00:54:23.46 If he pulled out the black stone, 00:54:23.49\00:54:25.63 he could lose his life. 00:54:25.66\00:54:27.96 If he pulled out the white stone, 00:54:28.00\00:54:29.56 he would be exonerated, 00:54:29.60\00:54:31.53 and he will get a new name. 00:54:31.57\00:54:33.13 He will be put into the community 00:54:33.17\00:54:34.54 and they'll not know him by the name 00:54:34.57\00:54:36.10 he was known for as an accused criminal. 00:54:36.14\00:54:39.14 But follow this. 00:54:39.17\00:54:40.51 It's not just that he would pull out the stone. 00:54:40.54\00:54:42.48 But our lawyer, Jesus Christ said, 00:54:42.51\00:54:45.85 you know, the court is always in favor of the saints. 00:54:45.88\00:54:51.29 If you let me be your lawyer, 00:54:51.32\00:54:53.19 you don't have to put your hand in the bag. 00:54:53.22\00:54:55.22 I'll give you a white stone. 00:54:55.26\00:54:57.39 Did you get that? That's right, Brother. 00:54:57.43\00:54:59.19 You don't have to decide your fate. 00:54:59.23\00:55:01.86 I've already decided your fate. 00:55:01.90\00:55:03.87 You have told me everything I need to know about your life. 00:55:03.90\00:55:06.67 I know everything about your sin. 00:55:06.70\00:55:08.47 If you just simply put your life in my hand, 00:55:08.50\00:55:11.37 I'll put my life in your hand. 00:55:11.41\00:55:14.54 Jesus Christ gave him a white stone. 00:55:14.58\00:55:17.05 He put his hand in that bag, 00:55:17.08\00:55:18.51 knowing that he would be vindicated. 00:55:18.55\00:55:20.62 My friends, the God that wins for Daniel 00:55:20.65\00:55:23.72 is the God that will win for you. 00:55:23.75\00:55:25.92 Make Him the stone of your life. 00:55:25.95\00:55:27.62 Amen. Amen. 00:55:27.66\00:55:29.52 What a wonderful study. 00:55:29.56\00:55:31.03 Thank you so much, each and every one of you, 00:55:31.06\00:55:33.36 and we had just a couple of minutes left. 00:55:33.40\00:55:36.93 I'd like to give everyone an opportunity 00:55:36.97\00:55:39.47 for a final thought. 00:55:39.50\00:55:40.84 Absolutely. 00:55:40.87\00:55:42.20 You know, as the pastor was talking about the stone, 00:55:42.24\00:55:44.47 a particular passage came to my mind. 00:55:44.51\00:55:45.97 Jesus speaking in Matthew Chapter 21. 00:55:46.01\00:55:48.41 He says the stone which the builders rejected, 00:55:48.44\00:55:51.01 has become the chief cornerstone. 00:55:51.05\00:55:52.38 This was the Lord's doing 00:55:52.41\00:55:53.75 and it is marvelous in our eyes. 00:55:53.78\00:55:55.22 But verse 44 is what really sticks out to me. 00:55:55.25\00:55:58.29 It says, "And whomever falls on this stone..." 00:55:58.32\00:56:02.09 It's good. 00:56:02.12\00:56:03.46 "Whoever falls on this stone, will be broken in a good way." 00:56:03.49\00:56:05.39 Yeah. That's right. 00:56:05.43\00:56:06.76 But then notice, "But on whomever it falls, 00:56:06.80\00:56:09.36 it will grind him to powder." 00:56:09.40\00:56:10.97 I just pray that the Lord will allow me 00:56:11.00\00:56:14.14 and help me and lead me to lean on Him, 00:56:14.17\00:56:16.67 to follow Him and allowed Christ 00:56:16.71\00:56:18.77 to shape us and mould us today 00:56:18.81\00:56:20.54 as His special vessels of honor. 00:56:20.58\00:56:21.91 Amen.
