We saw in week 6
that in Daniel 7,

after the rise of Babylon

which was
represented by the lion,

there was Medo-Persia,

the bear and
Greece, the leopard.

After those three,

earthly power of Rome,

it started out as pagan Rome

scholars have seen Rome

and Rome there is not alone,
there's another power depicted.

that he captures
readers attention like

no other figure in Revelation.

And people are
always trying to calculate

the number of his
name which is 666.

Let's look at Revelation 13:1,

"Then I stood on
the sand of the sea

and I saw a beast
rising up out of the sea
00:05:37.27\00:05:40.40
having seven
heads and ten horns,
00:05:40.44\00:05:42.44
and on his horns, ten crowns,
00:05:42.47\00:05:45.77
and on his heads
a blasphemous name."

Now, if you compare
this to Revelation 12:3

where we see the dragon,

he also had seven
heads and ten horns.

And those were identified

as the seven
heads as seven kings,

and out of this 10 horns
comes the little horn power.

But the important
thing is that this sea beast

has a family
resemblance to the dragon,

I mean, they are
out of the same thing.

The beast arises out of the sea
which is multitudes of people,

it's a very
highly populated area,

that the people are
like the sands of the sea,

and he has blasphemous
titles that he assumes.

So verse 2, "Now the beast
which I saw was like a leopard,

his feet were like
the feet of a bear,

his mouth like
the mouth of a lion.

The dragon gave him his power,

This is a
conspicuous biblical reference

but in John's vision,

he's looking
backward over history.

And he sees them
in the reverse order,

he sees these four beasts rolled

into one terrible fourth beast,

one that swallowed up
its three predecessors,

and it took on

the distinguishing
characters of each beast.

So this is the
religiopolitical power

that succeeded

Empire, it's papal Rome.

Now, let me please say this,

when we speak of papal
Rome being the sea beast,

we are talking
of a corrupt system,

not individual
Catholics, we believe that

there will be many
Catholics in church,

there're very
many sincere Christians

in the Catholic Church.

But we're speaking here
of a corrupt organization.

Verse 3 said, "I
saw one of his heads

as if it had
been mortally wounded,

and his deadly wound was healed.

And all the world marveled
at and followed the beast.

So they worship the dragon

who gave authority to the beast,

and they worship
the beast saying,

When you think about it,

received a number of wounds

Let's look at what
happened with Martin Luther,

when Martin Luther discovered
justification by faith,

and he wrote his 97 thesis back

in 1595, back in 1517.

He began the
Protestant Reformation

and the Bible became
available to the people,

the common people,

and they had
confidence in the Word of God,

and this wounded beast.

Then there was the alienation

from their
previous political friends,

like the Germanic
States in Austria, and France,

and England, the
passing of Penal Laws

against the members of its...

And secret agents

that belong to
the Catholic Church,

the overthrow
00:09:16.22\00:09:17.65
by the armies
of France, in 1798,

the French General Berthier
under the commands of Napoleon,

took Pope Pius VI prisoner,

and the pope died in
captivity a year later.

to completely eliminate

the papacy as an institution.

healed in reverse order.

First, there was
a gradual revival,

the 1929 Lateran Treaty restored

the papal's civil power,

creation of the Vatican,

it gave power to the
pope over the Vatican.

Then they renewed
their political friendships,

and they began to exchange
diplomatic representatives.

The loss of the
Protestant movement,

began to wane through evolution,

and materialism, and paganism,

so when it prophesies
that all the world will marvel

and follow after the beast,
this is still in the future,

but we see
through prophetic lines,

that the healing of the wound

is taking place
very rapidly, is it not?

recover its former glory

characteristics of this beast,

the ones in Daniel 7.

Authority being
exousia, meaning, power to act,

"Having that
authority and the earth

was illuminated with His glory."

Illuminated, when I
hear the word illuminated,

what does that mean?

To shine, to
give light, to reveal,

"The earth was illuminated

with the glory of
this angel that came down."

the Holy Spirit's work

so we're actually

"As for me says the Lord,
this is My covenant with them.

My spirit who is upon you,

depart from your mouth,

nor from the mouth

So His Spirit and the words

which He has put in their mouth.

So the Spirit and
the Word are connected,

"Arise, shine, for your light

glory of the Lord

is risen upon you."

We know in the Bible,
glory represents character,

and so Isaiah,
the prophet is saying,

"When you arise and
shine, the glory of the Lord,

the character of
God is revealed."

And I believe, and
this angel in Revelation 18,
00:50:45.37\00:50:49.44
the earth being illuminated
00:50:49.48\00:50:50.81
with his glory in a special way,
00:50:50.88\00:50:52.58
it's saying that
the character of God

is going to be proclaimed,
00:50:54.68\00:50:56.22
the character of
God is going to be lived
00:50:56.25\00:50:59.69
by those who are
giving this end time message.

And when the
character of God is proclaimed,

when the
character of God is lived,

we see what will
happen in verse 3,

we're in Isaiah 60:3,

"Then the Gentiles
shall come to your light,

and kings to the
brightness of your rising."

So it has an effect,

the character of God revealed
in His people has an effect.

So let's go back
to Revelation 18,

this angel came down
and the earth is illuminated

with his glory,

or the character
of God is revealed.

Now verse 2, it says,

"He cried mightily
with a loud voice."

Now if you remember,

when we read
back to Revelation 14

the first angel's message,

what the angel saying

Verse 8, for the
second angel's message,

it says, "Another
angel followed saying."

The third angel's message says,

the third angel followed
saying with a loud voice.

So they either say or
they say with a loud voice.

Now we get to
Revelation 18:2, and it says,

"He cried mightily
with a loud voice."

In the Greek, for cried,
it literally means to scream.

To cry out, shriek.

It's the word actually
used to express a raven,

you know, how they
would kind of shriek with,

you know, caw, caw, he
cried with a mighty voice.

And what does he cry?

He says, "Babylon
the Great is fallen,
00:52:28.54\00:52:31.31
is fallen and has become
a dwelling place of demons,
00:52:31.35\00:52:34.85
and a prison for
every foul spirit,

and a cage for every
unclean and hated bird.
00:52:37.55\00:52:42.49
For all the nations
have drunk of the wine

of the wrath of her fornication,

the kings of the earth
00:52:46.19\00:52:47.56
have committed
fornication with her,

and the merchants of
the earth have become rich

through the
abundance of her luxury."

So what is John saying here?

He talks about
the kings of the earth

committing
fornication with Babylon.

We know the kings of the
earth represent political power,

Babylon representing
that spiritual power.

At this point,

when they're
committing fornication,

that represents the union,

the unity of the
church and the state,

the two uniting together.

We see this final
cry is to be given,

but at this point
probation has not closed.

At this point, there is hope
because we see that in verse 4,

there is a call for the people

who are in this
false system of worship.

These people who
are in the church

who worships on Sunday,

there's a call
to come out of that.

Verse 4, it says,

"I heard another
voice from heaven saying,

'Come out of her, My people.'"

Don't you love that?

That means that God
has people right now

in many different churches.

God has people that He
has called by His name,

and at the right time,

this loud cry will be given
around the world with power,

and people will be
called out of the fault system

of worship into God's truth.

"Come out of her My people,
lest you share in her sins,

lest you receive of her plagues,

for her sins
have reached to heaven

and God has
remembered her iniquities."

Babylon's cup of
iniquity is full,

and God is
making a strong appeal

for the people to come
out of these other churches.

What's the
lessons for God's people?

To me there's three,
speak, shout, and shine.

First we're supposed to
speak, speak while we can.

Give the message, make the
call to come out of Babylon

while there is still time.

Don't be too tired,
don't be too indolent,

don't be too busy,
don't be too apathetic,

and this would be me,
don't be too afraid to speak

and call people out
of the church of Babylon.

Number two, shout,
00:54:53.36\00:54:54.69
that means don't be
afraid to cry out loud,

don't be afraid to
say the message loudly,

and passionately, and urgently.

And number three,
shine, allow the love,

allow the character
of the Lord Jesus Christ

to shine out of your life

'cause when God's character
is revealed in His people,

the whole earth
will be illuminated

with His glory.

I want to close with a quote,
this is from Great Controversy,

This is specifically talking
about this angel's message,

It says, "Servants of God,
with their faces lighted up

and shining with
holy consecration,

will hasten from place to place

message from heaven.

By thousands of
voices all over the earth,

the warning will be given.

Miracles will be wrought,
the sick will be healed,

this take place? No.

History has repeated itself,
it's a system of false worship.

And we need to know

that the issue is always
about worship with Satan,

so that we can avoid
