" 03:56 "Amen... amen. " 03:58 They have used a number of translations 04:01 for the memory text 04:03 and this one in Revelation chapter 12 verse 9 04:06 comes to us from the New King James Version. 04:09 So, we'll recite it together 04:11 and then we'll sort of launch out into our study for today. 04:15 Revelation chapter 12 verse 9, the Bible says, 04:19 "So the great dragon was cast out, 04:22 that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, 04:27 who deceives the whole world; 04:29 he was cast to the earth, 04:31 and his angels were cast out with him. " 04:35 Yes. 04:37 There are a couple of texts 04:38 in the gospel of 1st John that appear to be conflicting 04:45 and for some people appear to be 04:47 some sort of Biblical doublespeak. 04:50 They are found in 1st John chapter 2 verses 7 and 8, 04:56 1st John chapter 2 verses 7 to 8, 04:59 7 and 8... 05:00 The one text... Christ says, 05:03 "I'm not going to give you a new commandment" 05:06 and then in the very next text, it says again, 05:09 "A new commandment I give you" 05:10 and so, it has confused many, many people. 05:14 Is it new... is it not new? 05:16 well, the answer is found 05:18 in the Greek definitions of those particular words, 05:21 and rather than going to all of the Greek, 05:23 let me just explain it to you. 05:24 One is brand-new... the other is new to you... 05:31 Panel: Oh, that's good. 05:32 So, he's saying, 05:34 "I'm not giving you a brand-new commandment, 05:37 I'm giving you a commandment which is new to you. " 05:40 It's the same-old commandment, but you've forgotten it 05:43 so, I'm bringing it back to you, 05:44 it's like, you buy a new car, Pastor. 05:45 Pastor: Yes. 05:47 It's not a new car... but it's new to you. 05:49 Yes... yes... Laughter... 05:50 It's an old car but it's... it's new to you 05:53 so Christ says, "I'm not giving you anything brand-new 05:54 but you've forgotten this so, I'm bringing it back to you, 05:57 it's new to you. " 05:59 May I suggest then, that when we look at end-time deceptions, 06:05 they're not really brand-new 06:07 as much as they are "new" to the end times. 06:13 Satan is using age-old tricks and tactics, 06:17 but they... they're kind of on steroids now 06:22 you know, 06:23 it's the same-old stuff but it's new to this generation 06:27 new to this generation. 06:28 Frankly, Satan has more tools now than he ever had before, 06:32 he's got more weapons to use, 06:35 he was a liar and murderer from the beginning 06:39 he has not changed. 06:41 He is still a liar and murderer. 06:44 He began the work of deception in heaven 06:48 and then he brought it to earth with him. 06:52 Same tactics... deception... 06:55 he deceived one-third of the angels, 06:58 he deceived Eve, he didn't change his tactics 07:01 he didn't alter his tactics and in these last days, 07:05 he's the same... 07:08 he's a deceiver and a murderer with a new arsenal, 07:13 now, he's a deceiver and murderer... 07:15 with television. 07:17 Panel: Hmmm... 07:18 he's a deceiver and murderer with movies, 07:20 he's a deceiver and murderer with videos... in his arsenal, 07:24 he's a deceiver and murderer, with DVDs in his arsenal, 07:28 he's a deceiver and murderer with radio in his arsenal, 07:32 he's a deceiver and murderer with the internet in his arsenal 07:36 he's a deceiver and murderer with pornography in his arsenal, 07:40 he's a deceiver and murderer... he's got iPads... iPhones... 07:45 iPods... iWatches... Google, Android, Internet, 07:50 books... YouTube, 07:51 he's the same deceiver and murderer 07:56 but he's got more ways to infect the world with his disease. 08:00 He's got more arsenal... 08:02 he's got more weapons in his arsenal, 08:04 he is still the father of lies. 08:08 Panel: That's right. 08:09 But he's a liar now with drugs in his arsenal, 08:12 he's a liar now with alcohol in his arsenal, 08:16 he's a liar now with pornography in his arsenal, 08:20 he's a liar now with new methodologies 08:24 but same old lies. 08:25 The truth is, in this world today 08:28 there are more ways to get hurt, there are more ways to get sick, 08:32 there are more ways to die... 08:34 and there are more ways to be distracted from the Word of God. 08:38 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 08:39 So, he's got a brand-new arsenal... 08:41 he's got more tricks up his sleeves 08:42 but he's the same old murderer, the same old liar, 08:45 the same old deceiver that has not changed. 08:49 When we look at Sunday, one of Satan's master deceptions 08:55 is the notion that there is no Satan. 08:59 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 09:00 That's one of his master tricks 09:02 or that he's something to be toyed with 09:05 or laughed at... or joked with. 09:09 So, you got this horned being in a red suit 09:15 with a pitchfork and a tail 09:17 and... and... and... people don't take that seriously 09:22 so, they don't take the enemy seriously 09:26 but Satan is a deadly foe. 09:28 If you don't know that something exists, 09:33 then, you're not looking for it. 09:35 Mollie: That's right. 09:36 So, one of his master strokes is the notion that 09:39 "There's no devil... 09:41 there's no devil 09:42 and if he is, he certainly can't help us. " 09:45 It's like doctors before microscopes... 09:47 they didn't know there were such things as germs 09:50 or bacteria so they didn't wash their hands, 09:53 they didn't disinfect anything, 09:55 they just weighed it in 09:57 and then when they got microscopes 09:59 they found out that there was this little tiny thing 10:02 that if you don't wash that thing away, it could kill you 10:04 even though you cannot see it. 10:06 Well, it's the same way with Satan, 10:08 if you don't know he exists, 10:09 then you're not aware of his devices 10:12 and you're not looking for him 10:14 and what you don't know not only can hurt you, 10:17 it can kill you physically and spiritually. 10:21 So, all throughout the Bible, there are references to Satan 10:26 and particularly in the book of Revelation 10:30 as a deadly, malignant and malicious foe 10:34 seeking to destroy God's people. 10:37 2nd Corinthians chapter 2 verse 11 10:39 speaks of not letting Satan take advantage 10:42 because we're ignorant of his devices. 10:44 So, God's people need to be aware of his devices 10:47 because the lesson says... 10:49 the truth is, he's smarter than we are. 10:51 Sometimes, we think we are smarter... but no... 10:54 he's smarter than we are. 10:55 Solomon said, 10:57 "There's nothing new under heaven 10:59 and that can include these 11:00 war-time worn tricks of the devil. 11:02 In these last days, his wrath is great. 11:05 Martin Luther... in writing that wonderful hymn of the ages 11:11 and extoling God... "A mighty fortress is our God" 11:15 turns immediately from God to Satan 11:19 because he realized that there was a foe, 11:21 "A mighty fortress is our God, 11:22 A bulwark never failing; 11:25 Our Helper He amid the flood 11:27 Of mortal ills prevailing: 11:30 For still our ancient foe 11:33 Doth seek to work us woe; 11:36 His craft and power are great, 11:40 And, armed with cruel hate, 11:45 On earth is not his equal. " 11:50 The only way to defeat the master deceiver, 11:55 is to keep your hand in the hand of the Master. 11:59 Panel: Amen. 12:01 The only way to defeat him 12:02 is to keep... you know, 12:03 there's nothing about us that Satan fears 12:06 nothing you have... nothing you are... 12:09 nothing you can do... that... that... 12:11 he fears the Jesus in you. 12:13 Panel: Absolutely. 12:14 And I like this statement by Ellen White, 12:16 and I don't recall exactly where it is found 12:18 because you read so much Spirit of Prophecy, 12:20 she says that the weakest Christian... 12:22 the weakest Christian... 12:25 when he calls upon the power of God, 12:27 is more than a match 12:30 for all the hosts of the enemy 12:32 so that's the... that's the sorriest Christian, 12:35 when you reach out and grab hold of Jesus, 12:38 you're more than a match for even the Devil himself 12:40 and as long as you want Jesus, Jesus will stay by your side 12:44 and He will keep the Devil off your back... 12:47 out of your house... out of your marriage... 12:50 and out of your life. 12:51 Amen, that's the power of God 12:53 so, we don't have to fear the deceiver 12:55 because praise God, "Greater is He that is in us 12:59 than he that's in the world. " 13:01 Panel: Hallelujah. Pastor: And amen... 13:02 Pastor Kenny... 13:04 Oh, that was good, I like that, 13:06 the victory is assured to us 13:09 by the Word that's given to us by Jesus, 13:11 I appreciate that very much. 13:12 Monday's lesson... now to me this is powerful 13:15 in fact, the Quarterly and all the rest 13:17 so, powerful... especially for... you know, 13:20 we're called Seventh-day Adventist 13:21 with a message to give... 13:22 and then we figure out by the grace of God 13:24 how deep do you really dig, 13:26 you have a few minutes in which to do it 13:27 but you have a lot of help in the Panel 13:29 so, sometimes we'll kind of scoot a little bit on 13:31 maybe each other... not meant to be... 13:33 but it's good to repeat some things 13:35 because that's how we learn 13:37 and we're looking at the two errors... 13:39 we're talking about two errors, Monday's lesson, 13:41 so if you have it, make sure you get that. 13:42 The two great errors, so, how far do you go with it? 13:45 I think we established over and over again 13:48 that deception... Brother C.A. brought out 13:50 is real... 13:51 there are people who are deceiving 13:54 a being deceived, 13:56 so, we have to work... that's working in all the world, 13:58 that's in politics... 14:00 that's even in religion, believe it or not, 14:01 it's going on all the time, 14:03 we have to be very, very careful. 14:04 We're warned not to get involved in that area 14:07 because the enemy, as you brought out 14:08 is the author of this deception, these lies... 14:12 and I thought about... 14:13 is it possible that a Christian can be deceived? 14:16 Panel: Hmmm... 14:17 You know, it talks about even the very elect... 14:19 we understand the Scripture says, 14:20 but is it possible that a Christian can be deceived? 14:22 You brought out, I think, in a way there 14:24 that I thought, "Well... " 14:26 you might say, "Can some born-again Christian 14:29 someone we call 'saved' 14:30 or in a 'saving relationship' be fooled?" 14:32 Well, kind of interesting... 14:34 Lucifer was self-deceived, wasn't he? 14:37 In the Kingdom... it started up there right, with Lucifer 14:41 and then we think about... 14:43 it came down to Eve, you mentioned... 14:45 she was deceived... we realize that 14:47 you can go back to illustration after illustration. 14:50 Cain was even self-deceived, wasn't he 14:53 in his offering and so on and so forth 14:56 so, deception went on... began... as in heaven, 14:59 came down here to this earth 15:00 and to the whole world that Jesus talks to us about 15:03 that great deceiver that we read in Revelation 12:9, I think 15:07 was it our Memory Text for this week here, 15:09 he is the great deceiver 15:10 the old dragon was cast out 15:12 so we realize... deception... we have to be careful 15:15 we're going to be cast out, maybe out of the presence of God 15:17 we can't do what we've been called to do. 15:19 Now, what happens to him? 15:21 The good news to me and I may be wrong in this, 15:24 this is a good news to me... Revelation 20 verse 10 15:27 gives... about the deceiver, it says, 15:29 "And the devil that deceived them... " was what? 15:32 "was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone" 15:34 we know the end... he's not going to change... 15:37 the end of the deceiver 15:38 and that's what's going to happen to all of us 15:40 if we are deceived. 15:41 There's really no excuse for us to be... 15:43 if we say, "in the Word" 15:44 The devil is trying... I know in this lesson brings out 15:47 he's trying to deceive us but we must be careful, 15:50 the book of James brings out, James 1 verse 22, 15:53 it says, "Be careful that you don't deceive your own selves" 15:57 we have to be careful, again, self-deceived... 16:00 we can deceive our own self, 16:02 we can be involved with a different group 16:03 and we can be listening and we can be... you know... 16:05 so, "Oh boy, we've got to be careful with that" 16:07 so the enemy is doing his very best, 16:09 but the book of Revelation 16:11 chapter, I think it's 13 verse 14, 16:13 he says, "I'm going to work 16:14 on all those that dwell on the earth" 16:17 so, that means, you're no exception... 16:19 and I'm no exception... 16:20 the enemy is going to deceive... what? 16:22 Everybody that dwells on this earth... 16:23 everybody that he can get at, 16:25 interesting in this... 16:27 2nd John 1 verse 7 brings this out really clearly, 16:30 the enemy... you know, 16:32 is going to be working on the people, 16:33 it says, "For many deceivers are entered into the world... " 16:37 2nd John 1 verse 7... we should jot this down 16:40 as we move very quickly 16:41 "who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the... " 16:44 what? "in the flesh. " 16:45 "This is a deceiver and... " what? 16:47 "and an antichrist. " 16:49 Those are big, big words, 16:51 Jesus warns us of all kinds of deception. 16:53 You may look at what Matthew chapter 24... brought out... 16:56 Matthew 24 verse 4, Matthew 24 verse 5, 16:59 Matthew 24 verse 11, Matthew 24 verse 24, 17:02 what is Jesus saying to us in these passages? 17:05 "Be careful that no man deceives you. " 17:08 Don't be deceived... you know, 17:10 the enemy is going to come and say, "I am Christ" 17:14 and it will deceive what? 17:15 It's going to deceive many, it says here, 17:17 Matthew 24... deceive if possible the very elect. 17:21 Remember, deception began in heaven, 17:24 it continued down into the Garden of Eden 17:26 and it continues now to the whole world 17:28 so, this is not anything new to anyone, 17:31 but, I think, it's reality... 17:32 that we have to look at it as closely as we can. 17:34 1st Timothy chapter 2 verse 14 says this, 17:37 "Adam was not deceived" notice this, but who? 17:40 "But the woman being deceived was in transgression. " 17:43 so there's something about being deceived, 17:46 Pastor, that I look at here... 17:47 that leads to sin and transgression. 17:49 It can lead to that which is death... 17:51 it's missing out on heaven, 17:53 we have to be careful about it, 17:54 I found this in the Spirit of Prophecy, 17:55 Letter 11... 3:11... 17:57 1905... this was written, 17:59 notice how it pertains today, 18:01 we're talking about "Spiritualism" 18:03 we're talking about these two great errors 18:04 that were mentioned here in just a moment, 18:06 "When these spiritualism... 18:07 spiritualistic deceptions are revealed, 18:10 to be what they really are... " 18:12 notice... "the secret workings of evil spirits... 18:16 those who have acted a part in them 18:19 will become as men who have lost their minds. " 18:22 Panel: Hmmm... 18:23 That's an interesting... powerful statement right there, 18:26 spiritualistic deceptions are revealed... 18:29 people are actually losing their mind... 18:31 because the devil is taking their mind, isn't he? 18:34 That's what he's out to get, we know that. 18:36 God wants our mind... the enemy wants our mind... 18:39 100s and 1,000s you mentioned here 18:41 of deceptions that the enemy has... 18:44 that... I encourage you just as being encouraged 18:46 through all of these lessons is here, 18:48 there's only one way that we will not be deceived, 18:51 get to know Jesus... get to know the Word... 18:53 stay in the Word... study the Word... 18:55 and, you know, and then by God's grace, 18:58 be obedient to the teachings of God's Word 19:01 or we will be deceived, there's no doubt about it 19:04 I don't care who we think we might be, 19:06 "We know this... we know all that... " 19:08 be careful here because you mentioned... 19:10 brought it out... we're not match for the enemy. 19:12 Pastor CA: Hmmm... 19:13 we might think, "Well, we don't want to give him any praise" 19:15 because I'm not... I'm telling you what it is... he's no match 19:17 that's why God said in the beginning... 19:18 he said, "I'm going to put enmity 19:19 between thee and the woman. " 19:21 God knew that the enemy is too much for us, 19:23 we needed help and He planted it inside of us, 19:26 and I'm so grateful that He did. 19:27 Now, you know, the two great errors: 19:29 immortality of the soul... 19:30 that next... next... tomorrow's lesson, so... 19:33 won't get too much on that 19:35 but it's simply dealing out... 19:37 can't help, we want to get just a little bit close... 19:39 immortality of the soul... 19:41 it lays the foundation of spiritualism, doesn't it? 19:44 Spiritualism in the last days, 19:45 you know, "What is wrong?" you say 19:47 "with spiritual and things in the last day?" 19:48 Because people are already saying, 19:50 "We have come back from the dead. " 19:53 We're talking about the... even the saints of old... 19:55 people say, "We've seen them" you know, 19:56 they're talking about the ancestor... 19:58 different ones that have come back 20:00 and they always come back with a message... 20:01 they call it, "from the other side" 20:03 but every time, we know that's not possible 20:06 when we understand our lesson and we'll get... as we go here 20:08 but... we realize, every time they come back with a message, 20:11 it is a lie of the devil 20:13 so, it's very important 20:14 that we realize the immortality of the soul 20:16 and then "Sunday Sacredness" 20:18 those are the two great errors, 20:20 so, what can all be said, about Sunday Sacredness? 20:23 I'm just... I like to call it out 20:25 because this creates a bond with Rome, 20:28 we understand that... Sunday Sacredness... 20:30 we realize in the Word of God, when we look at that, 20:33 we talk about Sunday, we just... 20:34 let's just be honest about it, we need to know 20:37 Testimonies to Ministers, page 118, 20:39 tells, "He's called us... 20:42 He's called us to expose the wickedness of the man of sin" 20:45 that's what these lessons are about, 20:47 this is what we're doing here... 20:48 that made the "Sunday Law" distinct power... 20:52 we have a job to expose 20:55 who the enemy is using here in these last days. 20:58 It may not be easy, 20:59 some people are little timid and shy 21:01 to be honest with you, I am not... 21:02 I'm not being called to be shy, I'm not called to be timid, 21:05 I'm not being called to back up, back down or shut up. 21:07 Panel: Amen. 21:09 That's all of us... 21:10 I'm sorry, Pastor, it's just one of these things, 21:12 we just have to go with the flow of this thing 21:14 this is what our lesson brings out, "Sunday Sacredness" 21:16 nowhere have I ever seen in Scriptures... as we look at this 21:20 that God ever blessed it, he never sanctified Sunday, 21:23 he never set it apart, 21:24 Jesus worked on that day as we well know in Scripture, 21:27 He never called the Sabbath... 21:29 the Bible never called the Sabbath... 21:30 you know, Sunday the Sabbath... 21:32 He never called it the "Lord's Day" 21:34 He's called it a common working day. 21:36 So, we look at it and say, 21:38 "Okay, this is what God has called 21:40 and this is what we have to look at. 21:41 We realize, this is bringing out 21:43 the two great errors here 21:44 but who's going to be working in the last days? 21:47 United States is going to be working, we understand that 21:49 and this is one thing we look at... and Rome... 21:52 and I call it the "Papacy" and I call it "Protestants" 21:55 they're going to be working together 21:57 combined to trample upon the Law of God 21:59 because we are talking about Sunday sacredness... 22:01 we're talking about the immortality of the soul. 22:04 And we know that... 2nd Corinthians, was it 11 22:06 that the enemy is going to come as what? 22:08 He's going to impersonate Christ. 22:11 I want to bring a couple of quick points on that, 22:14 you remember, it says, 22:15 "Therefore, think no marvel at this great thing 22:17 that if his ministers 22:18 also transform into the ministers of righteousness. " 22:21 You remember that? 22:22 Panel: Yes. 22:24 The enemy has his ministers, the enemy has... 22:25 and that word, you can translate many times, 22:27 the enemy has his attendants, the enemy has his deacons, 22:30 the enemy has his elders, the enemy has his pastors, 22:34 he has his teachers, he has his service, 22:36 he has those who are runners for him, 22:39 he has those who are running errands for him, 22:41 that's what this "ministers" really means here 22:44 and so, but they are none other than the enemy, right, 22:47 and looking as though it's the right thing 22:49 so, we have to be careful that we are not deceived. 22:52 The Great Controversy, page 571 says this, 22:55 in just less than a minute left... 22:56 it tells us that the Papacy is just what prophecy declared 22:59 that she would be... the apostasy of the latter times. 23:03 So, it's interesting, we look at the little horn, 23:06 we look at the man of sin, 23:07 we look at the beast of Revelation 13, 23:10 the mystery of iniquity... the list goes on and on and on. 23:12 These are things that are wrapped up... 23:14 the deceptions... 23:16 the enemy wants to deceive us on these two "errors" 23:18 that's a prominent that will be used here in the last days. 23:21 We just need to be very careful 23:23 that we're not deceived by the enemy 23:25 and I think you'll probably bring it out 23:27 in the rest of the lesson, 23:28 we can talk about immortality, 23:30 the Bible is very, very clear there in 1st Timothy 6:16, 23:33 "Only God has immortality" 23:35 that just ends it for me right then and there, right, 23:38 just... by God's grace we're not going to be deceived. 23:40 Shelley: Amen and amen, thank you. 23:42 I feel like I need to put my running shoes on to follow you. 23:46 Laughter. 23:47 I loved what you said about 23:49 Satan's deceptions are no different now, 23:54 they're just kind of on steroids 23:55 because that's exactly what's going on. 23:57 Lesson for Tuesday is the "Immortality of the Soul. " 24:02 This is a deception from which I suffered growing up 24:07 and believing that the soul was immortal, 24:10 I believed that there was an ever-burning hell 24:14 and that kept me from... 24:17 I mean, I believed that you went through this torture in hell 24:21 where you could never die 24:23 and it kept me at arms distance from the Lord, 24:26 so, I do want to start off with a Scripture 24:30 that's a little unique to start 24:32 and that is John 11 verses 25 and 26 24:36 because sometimes people will use this Scripture 24:39 to try to say, "See, you never die. " 24:41 John 11:25 and 26... 24:45 Jesus is speaking to Mary and... or to Martha... 24:49 and He says, "I am the resurrection and the life. 24:53 He who believes in Me, 24:55 though he may die, he shall live. 24:58 And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. 25:05 Do you believe this?" 25:06 Well, please notice, He's already said, 25:09 "though he may die, yet shall he live" 25:13 and the construction in the Greek when He said, 25:15 "He who believes in me shall never die" 25:18 "shall never die" in the Greek is 25:20 a strong... double negative 25:24 and what he is saying is they shall not die forever, 25:28 "If you believe in Me, although you die... 25:31 yet shall you live, you shall never die forever 25:34 because I'm going to give you eternal life. " 25:37 So now, let's look at John 11 and verse 11, 25:40 how did Jesus describe death? 25:42 John 11:11... He says this, 25:45 "These things He said and after He said to them, 25:49 'Our friend Lazarus sleeps, 25:52 but I go that I may wake him up. ' 25:55 Then His disciples said, 25:57 'Lord, if he sleeps he'll get well. '" 26:01 We know that sleep is good if you're sick, right? 26:04 But it's... then... 26:06 then the Bible describes 26:08 what Jesus was referring to as "sleep" 26:11 it says, "However, Jesus spoke of his death, 26:14 but they thought that He was speaking about 26:17 taking rest in sleep. 26:19 Then Jesus said to them plainly, 'Lazarus is dead. '" 26:24 Throughout the Bible, 26:26 sleep or death is referred to as sleep, 26:29 we find it in 1st Kings, in Psalms, 26:31 in 1st Corinthians, in Ephesians, 26:33 I mean, just throughout the Bible. 26:35 David and the other Old Testament kings 26:38 are said to be "sleeping with their fathers. " 26:43 When Stephen was stoned, Luke wrote and recorded 26:47 that "he fell asleep" 26:51 Stephen was the first martyr of the church, 26:54 he was stoned to death, 26:56 and in... that's in Acts 7 and verse 60 that Luke says, 27:01 "He fell asleep. " 27:03 So, throughout the Bible, this word, 27:06 this Greek word that's used for sleep... 27:09 it can mean an actual rest 27:10 but it is also translated as "death" 27:14 and that word is, "koimaó" 27:16 "koimaó" so, it either can mean "asleep" 27:20 sleep, die or to be dead. 27:23 Many sincere Christians teach that the soul is immortal 27:29 meaning that you live forever, 27:31 you're incorruptible... you will never suffer from corruption 27:36 but... as Kenny has already alluded to 27:40 we are going to look at who the Bible says 27:43 is immortal 27:45 and I want you to turn please 27:47 to 1st Timothy chapter 6 and verse 15, 27:51 1st Timothy chapter 6 and verse 15. 27:54 And I just have to say this, 27:56 for those of you who are watching 27:58 or listening to my voice, 28:00 "Preconceived opinions 28:03 effectively insulate the mind against truth. I don't think anybody but God could have taught me 28:28 because I was... 28:29 my preconceived opinions... we want to be right. 28:32 So, if you think that the soul is immortal, 28:36 listen to what the Word of God says, 28:38 1st Timothy 6 and verse 15, 28:40 "He who is the... " oh, excuse me, 28:43 "which He will manifest in His own time" 28:46 speaking of God... 28:48 "He who is the blessed and only Potentate, 28:51 the King of kings and Lord of lords" 28:54 who are talking about? 28:56 Panel: Yes. Shelley: All right... 28:57 God Himself... "who alone has immortality, 29:02 dwelling in unapproachable light, 29:05 who no man has seen or can see, 29:08 to whom be honor and everlasting power. " 29:11 So, 1st Timothy 6:15... 16... makes it clear 29:15 only God has life that is un-borrowed, underived... 29:20 has no beginning, no end, 29:22 He is infinite... 29:24 and, you know, in the Bible... 1,600 times, 29:28 the Bible refers to man's soul or his spirit 29:32 1,600 times... not one time, does that... 29:37 not once is it associated with immortality. 29:42 In fact, turn to 1st Corinthians 15, 29:45 and we're going to look at verses 51 through 55, 29:49 If you're taking notes, that's 1st Corinthians 15 29:53 51 and 55... 29:55 The Bible says that believers put on immortality 30:01 at the last trumpet... 30:03 this is at the close of earth's history, 30:06 when Christ returns, 30:08 1st Corinthians 15:51 through 55, 30:10 Paul is speaking to Christians here 30:13 and He says, "Behold I tell you a mystery: 30:15 We shall not all sleep... " 30:17 what is he saying? 30:18 That's the Bible metaphor for death... 30:20 we're not all going to die "but we shall all be changed... 30:24 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye... " 30:27 when? "At the last trumpet. 30:29 For the trumpet will sound, 30:31 the dead will be raised incorruptible, 30:36 and we shall be changed. 30:38 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, 30:44 this mortal must put on immortality. " 30:48 When? " 32:23 So, now, let's look at... 32:25 like sleep... there's no conscious thought 32:27 Psalm 146 verse 4. 32:29 "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; 32:33 in that very day his thoughts perish. " 32:35 So there's... you're just lying unconscious in the grave, 32:38 and then Psalm 115 verse 17. 32:42 "The dead do not praise the LORD, 32:45 Nor any who go down into silence. " 32:47 Oooh! and I've just got some... 32:50 I'm going to rush through a few more. 32:51 Job 14:12 says, "We sleep till we are awakened 32:54 so man lies down and does not rise 32:56 till the heavens are no more, they will not awake 33:00 nor be roused from their sleep. " 33:04 It is when the heavens pass away, 33:06 2nd Peter 3:10 says, "This is when Jesus returns. " 33:11 So, the death is a sleep 33:15 from which there will be an awakening 33:19 and I have to read this, 33:21 1st Thessalonians 4:13 through 18 33:23 "But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, 33:26 concerning those who have fallen asleep... " 33:27 those who are dead... 33:29 "lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 33:31 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, 33:34 even so God will bring with Him 33:37 those who sleep in Jesus. " 33:38 We're sleeping... 33:40 "For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, 33:43 that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord 33:47 will by no means precede... " 33:50 if we're alive, 33:52 we're not going to get to God at heaven... 33:54 so that shows you... they're not already there, right, 33:56 "For the Lord Himself... " verse 16 says, 33:58 "will descend from heaven with a shout, 34:00 with the voice of the archangel, 34:02 with the trumpet of God. 34:03 And the dead in Christ will rise first. 34:06 Then we who are alive and remain 34:08 shall be caught up together with them in the clouds 34:11 to meet the Lord in the air. 34:13 And thus we shall always be with our Lord. I'm going to ask two questions 34:49 after we read this... 34:50 "So the great dragon was cast out, 34:53 that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, 34:57 who deceives the whole world; 34:58 he was cast to the earth, 34:59 and his angels were cast out with him. " 35:02 Here's a bunch of questions, 35:04 Where was Satan cast out to? 35:06 Panel, where was he cast out to? 35:08 Panel: The earth... 35:09 The earth... he was cast out here 35:11 now, what was he doing? 35:15 What does he do? 35:16 what does it say that he is doing? 35:18 he is deceiving just a few people? 35:21 Panel: No. 35:22 He's deceiving just we Christians... 35:25 no, it says, he deceives the whole world 35:28 now, I want you to turn to John chapter 8 verse 44, 35:33 so, we see that... 35:35 as we have all made very clear, 35:38 Satan is a deceiver, he's here in this earth 35:42 and his purpose is to deceive us, 35:44 is he doing a pretty good job? 35:47 Panel: Yes. 35:48 Okay... John 8:44, 35:50 now, Jesus is talking to the religious leaders 35:54 who have an agenda... what they meant to do 35:58 was to kill him... 36:00 this is what Jesus says to them, 36:02 "You are of your father the devil, 36:05 and the desires of your father, you want to do. 36:08 He was a murderer from the beginning... " 36:11 we've made this clear... 36:13 "and does not stand in the truth, 36:15 because there is no truth in him. " 36:17 Now, we're talking about who? 36:20 We're talking about the Devil and Satan. 36:23 "When he speaks a lie, 36:25 he speaks from his own resources, 36:28 for he is a liar and the father of lies. " 36:32 Satan... through his followers, 36:35 has deceived the whole world 36:37 in many areas that are vitally important for us to adhere to, 36:43 we're deceived in him, 36:44 Shelley just covered one beautifully... 36:47 that's the immortality of the soul... 36:49 areas the world has been deceived in. 36:51 Another area... the truth of the Sabbath... 36:54 another area... the sanctity of life... 36:57 another area... the covenantal bonds of matrimony 37:01 and the area that I want to address is: the theory... 37:05 now, what is it? 37:07 Theory of evolution. 37:08 Now, I think I should cover what the theory of evolution is. 37:14 if I want to teach on something 37:16 you need to know what I'm teaching about. 37:18 The theory of evolution also known as "Darwinism. " 37:23 It's a theory of biological evolution 37:28 developed by the English Naturalist, Charles Darwin 37:33 and others... 37:35 stating that all species of organisms 37:37 arise and develop through 37:41 a process called "natural selection" 37:45 it's small organisms that inherit variations 37:52 that increase the individual's ability to compete. 37:56 Okay, this theory... the theory of evolution... 38:00 challenges something... 38:02 and Panel, tell me, 38:04 "What does the theory of evolution challenge?" 38:08 God as Creator... creatorship of God... 38:13 the first chapter through chapter 2 verse 3 38:17 in Genesis... that's what it challenges, 38:20 it challenges the Bible, 38:22 so, I'm going to encourage you to read 38:25 Genesis 1... the whole chapter... 38:29 and then chapter 2 through 3, 38:32 okay, what I want to do though 38:35 is only read Genesis 1:26 through chapter 2 verse 3. 38:40 "Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, 38:43 according to Our likeness; 38:44 let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, 38:47 over the birds of the air, 38:48 and over the cattle, over all the earth 38:50 and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 38:53 So, God created man... '" 38:54 God did what? "He created man... 38:56 in his own image 38:58 and in the image of God He created him; 39:00 male and female He created them. 39:02 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 39:06 'be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; 39:08 have dominion over the fish of the sea. 39:10 over the birds of the air, 39:12 and over every living thing that moves on the earth. '" 39:15 Verse 31... 39:16 "Then God saw everything that He had made, 39:19 and indeed it was... " what? 39:21 "very good. 39:22 So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. " 39:25 Now, chapter 2... 39:28 "Thus the heavens and the earth, 39:31 and all the host of them were finished. 39:33 And on the seventh day 39:35 God ended his work which he had done, 39:38 and He rested on the seventh day 39:41 from all His work which He had done" 39:44 and verse 3... 39:46 chapter 2 verse 3, 39:47 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, 39:53 because in it He rested from all His work 39:56 which God had created and made. " 39:59 Now, that is divine design, 40:03 everything was planned, nothing was left to chance, 40:09 nothing just started as a little organism 40:12 and by natural selection evolved... 40:16 everything was planned and calculated... 40:19 nothing was random... arbitrary or by chance, 40:23 the Scripture leaves no room whatsoever for chance 40:28 in the process of creation. 40:31 Panel: Amen. 40:32 The theory of evolution 40:35 counters the account of creation in God's Holy Word. 40:40 Now, Psalm 139 verse 14, you don't have to turn there, 40:45 just let me tell you what it says, 40:47 "I will praise You, 40:49 for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; 40:52 marvelous are Your works, 40:55 and that my soul knows very well. " 40:58 Marvelous... okay... 40:59 Now, I want to ask a question, 41:01 why would Satan perpetrate such a lie about Creation? 41:07 Why would he perpetrate that lie? 41:10 Because if he can get you to believe that we evolved, 41:16 then that automatically does away 41:19 with the first chapter of the Bible, 41:22 also, chapter 2 verses 1 through 3 41:25 just totally obliterates them 41:27 it counters the... the veracity... the validity... 41:34 the truth... 41:36 and if you can take away all of the account of Creation, 41:42 what did God do on the 7th day, 41:46 what does it say He did? 41:48 "Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, 41:51 because in it He rested from all His work 41:54 which God had created and made. " 41:56 So, what is that? 41:57 What... what... is that the 4th commandment, 42:00 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. " 42:03 So, if Satan can negate the veracity... the validity... 42:10 the truth of God's Word 42:12 the creation of God's... of this... of all of us... 42:16 the creation story... 42:19 if he can negate that, 42:20 it does away with the veracity... 42:23 because if you can discount one portion of the Bible, 42:26 why can't you discount the whole Bible? 42:27 And if you can discount the 4th commandment, 42:31 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy" 42:34 why should you do that? 42:35 "this isn't the truth anyway... " 42:37 you discount all of the commandments 42:39 now, I want to very quickly get to this, 42:41 it's the study of the human eye, 42:43 Biologists... it was a three page report, 42:45 but let me just condense it, 42:47 "The Biologist and the Human Eye" 42:50 study of the human eye, 42:51 "Compared to a camera, 42:52 the eye contains a self-adjusting aperture... 42:55 an automatic focus system inner surfaces 42:57 that minimize the scattering of stray light... 43:00 sensitivity range... 43:01 it gives excellent vision to bright sunlight 43:04 as well as the dimmest moonlight, 43:05 the eye adjusts to 10 billion-fold changes 43:09 and brightness. " 43:10 Now, this is what those that did the study wound up saying, 43:14 "How could chance acting with one gene at a time 43:18 start with a cyclist organism and produce an eye?" 43:23 So, that's what the Biologists said, 43:25 now, I want to give you a quote from Charles Darwin himself, 43:29 okay, it's in a chapter of his... 43:34 the name of the book Origin of the Species entitled, 43:38 "Difficulties with the theory" 43:40 here's what Charles Darwin says, 43:41 "To suppose that the human eye 43:45 with all its inimitable contrivances 43:51 for adjusting the focus to different distances, 43:54 for admitting different amounts of light, 43:57 and for the correction of 43:58 spherical and chromatic aberration, 44:00 could have been formed by natural selection, seems, 44:05 I freely confess... " he says, 44:08 "absurd to the highest degree... " 44:10 he didn't even believe in his own theory, okay, 44:13 remember, it's a theory. 44:15 Now, let me tell you the good news, 44:17 God's Word is the truth... God's Word will never change... 44:21 God is truth... " 45:37 Actually, though what they're really saying is, 45:39 "only the 4th commandment was nailed to the cross 45:42 we ought to keep the rest of the commandments. " 45:44 Think about it, Marriage was established by God 45:47 between one man and one woman 45:50 but Satan has a counterfeit called: Homosexuality 45:54 between man and man and women with women... 45:57 or he has another counterfeit, for those who are heterosexual 46:01 and says, "You know, you don't have to get married, 46:04 you can just live together, there's no issue with that, 46:06 God is the author of love 46:08 and He just wants me to be happy. " 46:10 Actually, God does love us, 46:13 that's why He gives us boundaries, 46:16 that's why He gives us His Law. 46:17 Panel: Amen. 46:19 Think about it, "Creation" 46:20 as you so eloquently talked about, Mollie, 46:23 God created the world in six literal days. 46:26 The counterfeit is either 46:27 God created and it took many, many years... 46:30 or evolution... 46:31 and the entire thing evolved. 46:34 Salvation... we're saved by grace through faith 46:37 and for that, Satan has a counterfeit saying, 46:40 "Salvation is a combination 46:41 of God's grace and my own efforts. " 46:45 Think about the truth of sanctification, 46:49 obedience is a natural outgrowth 46:52 of my own walk by faith. 46:54 The counterfeit says, "God does not require any works 46:57 everything has been done by grace 46:59 and there is nothing that we as Christians need to do 47:01 to walk in that grace. " 47:03 We have baptism by immersion 47:06 and the counterfeit, of course, is: Sprinkling. 47:08 We have Jesus' second coming as literal, visible, audible 47:12 and the counterfeit, of course, the Secret Rapture. 47:15 We have the state of the dead, Shelley, as you talked about 47:19 in the non-immortality of the soul, 47:21 and the counterfeit for that, of course, 47:24 as you clearly talked about with the immortality of the soul. 47:26 So, now we have the truth of the Godhead, 47:29 God the Father, God the Son, 47:31 God the Holy Spirit 47:34 and Satan has brought in a counterfeit, 47:36 that's what we're talking about here, 47:38 the counterfeit trinity as it were. 47:41 The dragon, the Sea Beast, and the Land Beast. 47:46 That's what the lesson calls them... 47:47 "The Dragon, the Sea Beast and the Land Beast. " 47:50 They can also be called the Dragon, 47:52 the Beast and the False Prophet 47:54 and either way you look at it, 47:55 we're really talking about the same things. 47:57 So, let's look at the dragon... 47:58 the dragon being the counterfeit for God the Father. 48:02 The dragon... and let's turn to Revelation chapter 12, 48:06 first of all we'll just look at the description of the dragon 48:09 Revelation chapter 12 verse 3. 48:11 "Another sign appeared in heaven: 48:13 behold, a great, fiery red dragon, 48:16 having seven heads and ten horns, 48:19 and seven diadems... " or seven crowns on his head. 48:24 Who is the dragon? 48:26 We see it... it's very clear in Revelation 12 verse 9. 48:30 We've talked about it, 48:31 "So that great dragon was cast out, 48:34 that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, 48:38 who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, 48:41 and his angels were cast out with him. " 48:44 Let's look at minute at the dragon's role. 48:47 If we look at Revelation 12:17, 48:50 we see the dragon's role 48:52 in this thing we call "the great controversy. " 48:54 "The dragon was enraged... " 48:55 or King James says, "wroth with the woman. " 48:58 Now, the word for "enraged" in Greek means 49:02 "a fixed anger or a settled oppression" 49:06 I'm sorry... "opposition" 49:08 a settled opposition... 49:09 so, instead of the dragon just all of a sudden... 49:12 his temper flared... you ever know someone like that? 49:14 They instantly get mad, right? 49:15 Something happens and the temper flares, 49:18 this is a "settled opposition" so it's not talking about, 49:21 "Once upon a time... just once... 49:23 the dragon was wroth with the woman..." 49:25 Satan was angry with the church... 49:27 it means that this is a settled opposition, 49:30 Satan studied opposition to the church. 49:33 So, the dragon... Satan... was wroth... 49:36 or had the settled opposition to the woman 49:39 and we know the woman is the true church 49:42 represented in Revelation, 49:43 "and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, 49:46 who keep the commandments of God 49:48 and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. " 49:52 So, the dragon's role is to make war 49:55 against the church... 49:57 we see... Revelation chapter 13 verse 1, 50:01 we introduce the Sea Beast here. 50:03 Revelation 13:1 and we'll see what the dragon does... 50:07 his role with the Sea Beast. 50:08 Revelation 13:1... 50:10 "Then I stood on the sand of the sea. 50:12 And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea... " 50:15 we don't have time to get into all this, 50:17 but the sea representing many peoples... 50:19 "having seven heads and ten horns, 50:22 and on his horns ten crowns, 50:24 and on his heads a blasphemous name. 50:26 Now, the beast which I saw was like a leopard, 50:29 his feet were like the feet of a bear, 50:31 and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. " 50:32 Now, this is the point we want to get to... with the dragon. 50:35 The dragon gave him... meaning the dragon... Satan... 50:38 gave the Sea Beast his power... 50:41 his throne... his great authority... 50:45 the dragon gave that authority over to the Sea Beast... 50:51 the dragon has power or thinks he does... 50:55 power... throne... authority over all. 50:59 Now, let's look at the Sea Beast for a moment, 51:01 the Sea Beast being the counterfeit 51:04 for God the Son or Jesus. 51:06 The description of the Sea Beast 51:08 we just read that in in Revelation 13:1 51:10 is very similar to the description of the dragon, 51:12 did you notice that? 51:13 They were very similar. 51:15 He had seven heads and ten horns... 51:17 same as the dragon... 51:19 "and on his horns ten crowns" same as the dragon... 51:22 the dragon had the seven crowns on his heads... 51:26 and the Sea Beast has the crowns on the horns... 51:30 but still the description is very similar, 51:32 and this beast is different from the dragon though 51:35 because he's a composite image from Daniel. 51:38 We see the leopard... the bear... 51:41 the mouth like the lion... 51:42 the composite image of the four beasts there in Daniel. 51:45 Who does the Sea Beast represent? 51:48 Now, we're not looking at who is the Sea Beast at this point, 51:50 just who it represents 51:52 we talked about the Sea Beast being a counterfeit 51:55 to Jesus Christ. 51:56 We won't turn there but think about Matthew 28... 51:59 you can look this up later... Matthew 28 verse 18. 52:03 Pause... 52:04 It says, "All power" Jesus is speaking... 52:07 "All power is given me in heaven and in earth. 52:09 Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations. " 52:12 So, who gave Jesus all power? 52:14 God the Father... 52:15 so in this case, it says, 52:18 in verse 2... the dragon... the false trinity here... 52:24 the dragon falsely representing God the Father, 52:26 the dragon gave to the Sea Beast 52:28 falsely representing Jesus Christ... 52:31 the power... 52:32 we also see in verse 3, "I saw one of his heads 52:36 as if it had been mortally wounded, 52:38 and the deadly wound was healed. 52:40 And all the world marveled and followed the beast. " 52:42 They wondered after the beast... 52:44 representing as in... Jesus... 52:46 He died then He was resurrected again. 52:50 "And they worshipped... " 52:52 this is verse 4... the dragon who gave authority to the beast, 52:55 and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? 52:57 Who is able to make war with him?" 53:00 It reminds me of what they said in Revelation 12:7 53:04 talking about the war breaking out in heaven, 53:06 Michael and His angels... 53:08 we know "Michael" represents the Lord Jesus Christ 53:10 and Michael literally mean, "Who is like God" 53:13 so that's who... in this false trinity... 53:15 who he represents... 53:17 but literally, who is the Sea Beast? 53:18 We know the Sea Beast... 53:20 we don't have time to get into all this 53:21 but represents the Papacy... 53:24 given power by God for 42 months... 53:27 if you follow the day-for-a-year principle, 53:31 it works out to 1,260 years, from 538 to 1798, 53:36 then we see the Land Beast come up 53:38 and I am so out of time... 53:39 the Land Beast representing the United States 53:42 and we see that in Revelation 13 verse 11, 53:45 "Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, 53:48 he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. " 53:50 He came out of the earth 53:52 because he did not arise from many peoples, 53:53 he arose from an unpopulated place, 53:56 "And he exercised 53:57 all the authority of the first beast in his presence, 53:59 and causes the earth and those who dwell in it 54:02 to worship the first beast whose deadly wound was healed. " 54:05 The third beast... the Land Beast... 54:08 the third part of this false trinity... 54:10 the Land Beast represented a counterfeit 54:13 for God the Holy Spirit. 54:15 "Exercised authority... 54:17 caused them to worship the Sea Beast" 54:19 he is the apparent third player in this false end-time trinity, 54:24 he takes a leading role in promoting 54:26 the interest of the Sea Beast 54:29 just like in John 16:13 and 14 54:31 when the "Spirit of truth is come" 54:33 He promotes the interest, He leads us into all truth... 54:37 He promotes the interest of God the Father and God the Son 54:40 and He also makes fire come down from heaven... 54:43 and that's reminiscent of the tongues of fire... 54:45 the fire coming down from the Holy Spirit. 54:48 So, we see this false trinity, 54:51 Revelation 16:13 talks about the three unclean spirits 54:54 coming out of the mouth... 54:56 and like frogs... and they're representing the Dragon... 55:00 the Beast... the False Prophet... 55:01 and praise the Lord, He has... in His Word... 55:05 we can study and learn 55:07 so we do not have to be deceived. 55:08 Panel: Amen... amen... well done... well done... 55:11 We're going to take our time just now 55:13 and I'm going to ask you each 55:14 to tie a little bow on your statement... 55:16 just give me just one or two sentences 55:17 to sort of sum up your particular day, Pastor... 55:20 Well, what I've looked at in the lesson... 55:22 is Satan gives power to those on his side... 55:24 we understand that... 55:26 and the only way that we can detect him 55:27 is by the great detector... which is the Law of Jehovah 55:31 the great moral standard of righteousness, 55:33 so, we need to keep that in focus. 55:35 In the Garden, Satan told Eve, "you shall not surely die" 55:39 and he's trying to tell people that today... 55:41 that the dead are not really dead... 55:43 that they are immortal... 55:45 the reason it is so important to understand 55:49 that you are dead... and that lying in the grave is because 55:54 Spiritualism is going to be one of the final delusions 55:57 and there are people who are believing 55:59 that they are getting messages from beyond the grave... 56:02 not possible. 56:03 Panel: Hmmm... hmmm... 56:04 We need to base everything we believe in God's Word... 56:07 God's Word is the truth... 56:09 anything that contradicts this Word is a lie... 56:11 and it... the lie... will fall to the ground every time 56:14 in light of the truth of God's Word. 56:15 Panel: Amen... amen. 56:17 Amen... deception is a serious thing 56:19 it began in heaven with Satan 56:21 and it was spread to this earth through Satan 56:23 and so, study the Word of God... 56:25 study to show yourself approved unto God... 56:28 search the Scriptures 56:29 so that you will not be deceived in these end times. 56:32 Very good... very quickly... 56:34 Pastor Kenny, what I heard you say 56:36 is that... we cannot run the risk of being deceived, 56:38 study the Word... to not be deceived. 56:40 Shelley, what I heard you say 56:42 is the truth about immortality of the soul 56:44 that to do otherwise paints an ugly picture of God 56:47 because it says, "We will burn in hell forever" 56:50 that's not the loving God we know. 56:52 Mollie... divine design... love it... 56:54 and Jill... the counterfeit trinity... 56:57 Satan has a counterfeit for everything of God 57:00 but we live by the truth, the whole truth 57:03 and nothing but the truth... 57:05 and that is found in the Word of God. 57:07 I hope and pray 57:08 that this study has been a blessing to you. 57:11 These are important subjects 57:13 because our faith is going to be tested in these last days 57:16 but we hold on to the fact that greater is He that is in us 57:20 than he that is in the world... 57:22 and as you follow God and hold on to Him, 57:25 you will not be deceived. 57:26 We look to see you again next time, God bless... 57:28 have a wonderful walk with Jesus. |
