We're going to be going 00:03:56.30\00:03:58.13 through Romans, Chapter 5. 00:03:58.17\00:03:59.50 And some of the stuff we'll be going over again. 00:03:59.53\00:04:02.77 But you know how wonderful it is. 00:04:02.80\00:04:04.34 We're learning from that. 00:04:04.37\00:04:05.71 The memory text is found in 00:04:05.74\00:04:07.31 These are powerful verses, so be sure you underline 00:04:08.74\00:04:11.38 some of these things. 00:04:11.41\00:04:12.75 Therefore, being justified by faith... Notice this. 00:04:12.78\00:04:15.65 And then we're going to have prayer after this. 00:04:15.68\00:04:17.02 We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 00:04:17.09\00:04:19.82 by whom also we have access of faith into this grace. 00:04:19.85\00:04:24.96 wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope and glory of God. 00:04:24.99\00:04:30.63 Isn't that just a wonderful passage? 00:04:30.67\00:04:33.40 C. A. would you just pray that God will help us to understand 00:04:33.44\00:04:36.60 this, and ears, and hearts, and minds will be open to receive? 00:04:36.67\00:04:39.21 Father God, truly Your word is a lamp unto our feet, 00:04:39.24\00:04:42.94 and a light unto our path. 00:04:42.98\00:04:44.31 We know and understand that spiritual things are 00:04:44.35\00:04:47.02 spiritually discerned. 00:04:47.08\00:04:48.42 So would You be pleased, Dear Father, now to give us Your 00:04:48.45\00:04:50.85 Spirit that we may speak Your words, that we may understand, 00:04:50.89\00:04:54.12 and that we may be true to the text. 00:04:54.16\00:04:56.79 And that those we hear what we have to say will be blessed, 00:04:56.83\00:05:00.53 and encouraged, that we may all learn together of Your love, 00:05:00.56\00:05:05.00 of Your goodness, of Your grace, and Your salvation. 00:05:05.03\00:05:07.77 And we thank You, Dear Father, in Jesus' name, Amen. 00:05:07.80\00:05:10.97 Amen! Praise the Lord! 00:05:11.01\00:05:12.54 You know, I thought about this lesson quite a bit 00:05:12.57\00:05:17.35 when I was going over it. 00:05:17.38\00:05:18.71 About Paul, for instance, when he was talks about it; 00:05:18.75\00:05:21.32 first part of our lesson. 00:05:21.35\00:05:22.68 He's established the point of justification is, you know, 00:05:22.72\00:05:25.92 the only avenue we have acceptance with God. 00:05:25.95\00:05:28.52 That's just been so plain, so clear, so wonderful. 00:05:28.56\00:05:31.16 So a lot of us are trying to work our way, 00:05:31.19\00:05:33.60 and do so many different things. 00:05:33.63\00:05:34.93 That we can just let those things go by, 00:05:34.96\00:05:37.23 and just concentrate on getting... I like to say getting 00:05:37.27\00:05:39.60 our lives right with God. 00:05:39.63\00:05:41.14 And I'm sure that you're working on that too, 00:05:41.17\00:05:42.94 as long as I'm working on it. 00:05:42.97\00:05:44.31 A paragraph that I thought was very interesting in our lesson, 00:05:44.34\00:05:48.91 it said, through the fall of one man; through the fall of man. 00:05:48.94\00:05:53.15 Who was that? Adam. Adam. 00:05:53.18\00:05:54.52 That was certainly Adam. 00:05:54.55\00:05:55.88 And so all humanity then faced, we see it: condemnation, 00:05:55.92\00:05:58.89 alienation, and death. 00:05:58.92\00:06:01.69 So the death the... So by one man death came upon all. 00:06:01.72\00:06:05.43 But, praise God, there's a passage that 00:06:05.46\00:06:07.03 continues on there. 00:06:07.03\00:06:08.36 Isn't it, wasn't it 1 Corinthians? 00:06:08.40\00:06:09.73 What happens? Do you remember? 00:06:09.76\00:06:11.10 Even so in Christ all... 00:06:11.13\00:06:12.47 Even so in Christ shall all... 00:06:12.50\00:06:13.84 All, I noticed that word. 00:06:13.87\00:06:15.20 I even circled it again in renewance. 00:06:15.24\00:06:16.91 All shall be made alive. 00:06:16.94\00:06:19.64 So, you know, all that wants to be. 00:06:19.67\00:06:22.14 All that's willing to accept that. 00:06:22.18\00:06:23.68 And I thought, how wonderful. 00:06:23.75\00:06:25.21 1 Corinthians 15:45. 00:06:25.25\00:06:27.92 I like it because it talks about the first Adam. 00:06:27.95\00:06:31.92 And then it goes on and it says the last Adam. 00:06:31.95\00:06:35.66 So we're talking about two different Adams, as it were. 00:06:35.69\00:06:38.46 When we come up with about the first, 00:06:38.49\00:06:39.89 and you're talking about the last Adam. 00:06:39.93\00:06:41.76 Bottom line to me; I read this in several different places. 00:06:41.80\00:06:45.07 And you can jot those down: Great Controversy, 647, 00:06:45.10\00:06:49.74 1 Testimony, 659, and Adventist Home, Page 540. 00:06:49.77\00:06:54.28 You read this quote. 00:06:54.31\00:06:55.64 This is what... this gives me Goosebumps. 00:06:55.68\00:06:57.05 And I don't know if it will for you or not. 00:06:57.11\00:06:58.78 And I long for that day, and I want to see that day. 00:06:58.81\00:07:02.05 And this has given me so much hope, and so much encouragement 00:07:02.08\00:07:06.79 over the years, because I look at Adam and Eve. 00:07:06.82\00:07:12.23 Because they fell short; they made a wrong choice; 00:07:12.26\00:07:17.20 all this, may I say mess, mess of this world... You see it's 00:07:17.27\00:07:21.54 everything out here is due to the sin, you see. 00:07:21.57\00:07:25.37 And yet what does Jesus do? you see? 00:07:25.41\00:07:28.84 We confess our sin and He's faithful and just to forgive. 00:07:28.88\00:07:31.81 This is part of justification by faith. 00:07:31.85\00:07:34.02 How can a God in heaven who has seen it all; all the misery, 00:07:34.05\00:07:39.09 all the disease, every sickness, everything, still yet look at 00:07:39.12\00:07:42.36 the ones who started it, as it were by their choice, 00:07:42.39\00:07:45.96 and look at him and welcome him into the portals of 00:07:45.99\00:07:49.20 glory with open arms? 00:07:49.23\00:07:50.57 I'm going to read that to you just quickly here as we go on. 00:07:50.63\00:07:53.23 Notice, I thought that was interesting. 00:07:53.30\00:07:55.97 It says the two Adams. 00:07:56.00\00:07:57.37 I think this might... This will be the Great Controversy, 647. 00:07:57.41\00:08:00.31 It says, the two Adams are about to meet. 00:08:00.34\00:08:02.81 All of a sudden I'm getting excited. 00:08:02.84\00:08:04.18 The two Adams are just about ready to meet. 00:08:04.21\00:08:07.48 It's like it's something that sets, it's something that is... 00:08:07.55\00:08:09.88 It's a special theme when we get to heaven. 00:08:09.92\00:08:12.85 And the angels are interested in it. 00:08:12.89\00:08:15.42 The redeemed are interested. 00:08:15.46\00:08:16.79 They're interested in this because it's like it's set up 00:08:16.86\00:08:20.23 that the two Adams now are getting ready to meet. 00:08:20.26\00:08:23.37 The Son of God is standing, notice this, with outstretched 00:08:23.40\00:08:27.90 arms to receive the father of our race, the being whom He 00:08:27.94\00:08:33.78 created who sinned against his maker. 00:08:33.81\00:08:36.95 For those, notice, who sin the marks of the 00:08:36.98\00:08:41.05 crucifixion are born upon the Savior's form. 00:08:41.08\00:08:44.72 He has these marks on Him of crucifixion. 00:08:44.75\00:08:48.56 And He looks at the one who fell short. 00:08:48.59\00:08:51.36 The first, the first Adam. 00:08:51.39\00:08:53.80 And he reaches out. 00:08:53.83\00:08:55.13 Jesus, King of kings, reaches out and embraces him, 00:08:55.16\00:08:58.57 and is so happy that he's in the kingdom of God. Amen! 00:08:58.60\00:09:01.14 If that does not give you hope and encouragement; if you think 00:09:01.17\00:09:04.04 your life is so bad, you think that grace is not sufficient 00:09:04.07\00:09:07.44 enough, you can't be justified by the blood of the Lamb. 00:09:07.51\00:09:11.45 Think about this reunion. 00:09:11.48\00:09:12.81 And I know it's going to happen. 00:09:12.85\00:09:14.28 And I want to see that reunion. 00:09:14.35\00:09:15.92 I really do. But you know, Adam doesn't just have the embrace, 00:09:15.95\00:09:19.65 he falls on his face before Jesus Christ. 00:09:19.69\00:09:24.29 How awesome that's going to be. 00:09:24.36\00:09:25.69 Same as us. Anyway, good food for thought. 00:09:25.73\00:09:28.73 The first part of the lesson here; we'll get to it as fast we 00:09:28.76\00:09:32.33 can here as time is running down. 00:09:32.37\00:09:33.74 Sunday, Justified by Faith. 00:09:33.77\00:09:35.47 I love Justified by Faith. 00:09:35.50\00:09:37.87 Now that's a subject you can talk on, and on, and on about. 00:09:37.91\00:09:40.48 I'd like to start from the book that I really like is, 00:09:40.51\00:09:43.95 The Acts of the Apostles. 00:09:43.98\00:09:45.31 Just a quote here, Page 531. 00:09:45.35\00:09:47.25 Again, when you're talking about justified, do we really mean it? 00:09:47.32\00:09:51.32 Do we really believe in being, that we're really 00:09:51.35\00:09:53.36 justified by faith? 00:09:53.39\00:09:54.72 Do we really believe that our record is set right? 00:09:54.76\00:09:57.73 Do we really believe that we've been cleansed by the 00:09:57.76\00:10:00.23 blood of the Lamb when we say justified by faith? 00:10:00.30\00:10:02.60 And then where does that set us up? 00:10:02.63\00:10:05.10 Does that set us up to live a life that's pleasing in the 00:10:05.13\00:10:07.94 sight of God when we're justified? 00:10:07.97\00:10:09.74 Notice what this says right here. 00:10:09.77\00:10:11.37 It says, The Savior showed that through cooperation with... 00:10:11.41\00:10:15.04 Again, divinity and humanity. 00:10:15.08\00:10:17.75 Is that supposed to work with us? Amen! 00:10:17.78\00:10:20.08 It has to be! We can't do anything on our own. 00:10:20.12\00:10:22.75 Divinity working with humanity, just like Christ. 00:10:22.78\00:10:26.32 Notice this: This is God's assurance to us that we, too, 00:10:26.35\00:10:30.89 may obtain complete victory. 00:10:30.93\00:10:34.23 Why? Because Christ did it. Amen! 00:10:34.30\00:10:36.70 He had nothing that we can't have. 00:10:36.73\00:10:38.43 Divinity and humanity working together; it's our assurance. 00:10:38.47\00:10:41.90 Great Controversy, 623 says, It is in this life... 00:10:41.94\00:10:46.74 I've had people just, you know, really want to fuss, 00:10:46.81\00:10:49.14 and really want to carry on. 00:10:49.18\00:10:51.15 And I don't mind discussing sometimes, you know? 00:10:51.18\00:10:53.25 ...this life that we are separate sin from us. 00:10:53.28\00:10:56.42 So where at? Where is sin separated? 00:10:56.45\00:10:59.32 People tell we're going to continue to 00:10:59.35\00:11:00.89 sin till Jesus comes. 00:11:00.96\00:11:02.29 If we're talking about justification, justified, 00:11:02.32\00:11:05.33 you know, by faith, what does that really mean? 00:11:05.36\00:11:07.60 We must not think it means cleansed from sin, evidentially, 00:11:07.60\00:11:09.73 if we don't think that we can gain victory here. 00:11:09.76\00:11:11.40 But, you see, it says, notice this: It is in this life that 00:11:11.43\00:11:14.94 we are to separate sin from us. 00:11:14.97\00:11:16.77 Now how is that accomplished? 00:11:16.81\00:11:18.37 Through faith in the atoning blood of Christ. 00:11:18.41\00:11:21.58 Same thing in our lesson; everyone's 00:11:21.61\00:11:22.98 been saying right here. 00:11:23.01\00:11:24.35 There's only one way in which it can be done. 00:11:24.38\00:11:25.95 But we are to separate from sin. 00:11:25.98\00:11:28.05 We can't dally around with it, see how close we can get to it, 00:11:28.08\00:11:30.99 reach out and touch it, reach out and think we can just do 00:11:31.02\00:11:33.42 this and we're going to get away with it. 00:11:33.46\00:11:34.79 It's not going to happen. 00:11:34.82\00:11:36.16 This right here; it's in this life that we are 00:11:36.19\00:11:38.59 to separate from sin. 00:11:38.63\00:11:39.96 And then only by the blood of Jesus Christ that gives us 00:11:40.00\00:11:42.03 the power to do that. 00:11:42.06\00:11:43.60 And Romans 5:1-5; it's absolutely powerful. 00:11:43.63\00:11:49.00 I don't know if I'll have time to read it, 00:11:49.04\00:11:50.37 but I'm going to try it anyway. 00:11:50.44\00:11:51.77 Because I'm seeing three things. 00:11:51.81\00:11:53.31 I like to say... I notice I put in my notes three free gifts. 00:11:53.34\00:11:57.41 I thought three... Do you realize all the hundreds and 00:11:57.48\00:12:00.92 thousands of free gifts that heaven 00:12:00.95\00:12:02.75 bestows upon us every day? 00:12:02.78\00:12:04.69 So I have to say, Three wonderful free 00:12:04.72\00:12:07.46 gifts that He gives us. 00:12:07.49\00:12:08.82 So, but notice what it says here in Romans, Chapter 5. 00:12:08.86\00:12:10.96 It says, Therefore being justified by faith, 00:12:10.99\00:12:14.93 we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 00:12:14.93\00:12:17.27 by whom we have access by faith into the grace wherein we stand, 00:12:17.33\00:12:23.81 and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 00:12:23.87\00:12:26.78 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations... 00:12:26.84\00:12:30.01 And look out now... also; knowing that tribulation 00:12:30.05\00:12:32.95 worketh patience; and patience, experience; 00:12:32.98\00:12:35.88 and experience hope. Verse 5. 00:12:35.92\00:12:37.62 The hope that maketh not ashamed; Why? 00:12:37.65\00:12:41.06 because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the 00:12:41.09\00:12:43.89 Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 00:12:43.93\00:12:45.89 What an unspeakable gift; to give us the Holy Spirit; 00:12:45.93\00:12:50.10 to impart the Holy Spirit to us. 00:12:50.13\00:12:52.60 Knowing us as heaven knows us, still willing to 00:12:52.63\00:12:55.50 impart that gift to us. 00:12:55.54\00:12:56.87 Being justified... this is interesting. 00:12:56.94\00:12:58.77 What is Paul doing? 00:12:58.81\00:13:00.21 The question in our lesson comes back. 00:13:00.28\00:13:01.61 As you read these passages, what does it really mean to you? 00:13:01.64\00:13:04.75 So I jot a few things down. 00:13:04.78\00:13:06.18 I said just, at least for me this is what it talks about. 00:13:06.21\00:13:08.65 Paul shows that all men, Jews and Gentiles alike, 00:13:08.68\00:13:12.45 that sinners are under condemnation. 00:13:12.49\00:13:14.59 Right quick he says it. 00:13:14.62\00:13:16.39 In need of what? righteousness. 00:13:16.42\00:13:19.06 This need can not be met by any kind of a legalistic 00:13:19.09\00:13:23.43 attitude or means that we might think. 00:13:23.47\00:13:25.40 Nothing legally. It can't be met by that, or by works; 00:13:25.43\00:13:28.67 Only by the grace of Jesus Christ, and by the gospel. 00:13:28.70\00:13:31.91 Now the three free little gift here? 00:13:31.94\00:13:33.94 This is what we've been talking about in our lessons. 00:13:33.98\00:13:36.21 It's simply, it's simply this: God offers what? 00:13:36.24\00:13:39.75 1. Free gift is grace. We know that. 00:13:39.78\00:13:41.62 Praise God for that. 00:13:41.65\00:13:43.05 2. What does He offer? 00:13:43.08\00:13:44.42 He offers something else to every one of us, 00:13:44.45\00:13:47.02 is complete pardon. 00:13:47.06\00:13:48.46 I think that's where I'm coming from in a lot of, I'm going to 00:13:48.49\00:13:52.73 say my studies, if you allow it. 00:13:52.76\00:13:54.13 Everyone has their own studies. 00:13:54.20\00:13:55.50 And we come to certain things, and I really want to come to 00:13:55.53\00:13:58.43 what is, bottom line is what is the truth. 00:13:58.47\00:14:00.67 I don't want to have any preconceived ideas, 00:14:00.74\00:14:02.77 and try to make it say something it doesn't say, or because this 00:14:02.80\00:14:06.21 group believes this, or that group. 00:14:06.24\00:14:07.81 I've stayed away from, try to stay away from groups. 00:14:07.84\00:14:09.84 I was trying to get to the word of God and 00:14:09.88\00:14:11.31 Spirit of Prophecy. 00:14:11.35\00:14:12.68 But, you know, we need the counsel. 00:14:12.71\00:14:14.22 So we realize that complete pardon, 00:14:14.25\00:14:16.15 it either is or it isn't. 00:14:16.18\00:14:17.59 And 3. this is I like, is reconciliation, 00:14:17.62\00:14:20.86 Reconciliation. What good, may I ask this to anyone here? 00:14:20.89\00:14:24.86 What good is the gift of grace if there's no reconciliation? 00:14:24.89\00:14:28.83 What is complete pardon if there's not reconciliation? 00:14:28.86\00:14:33.34 And if I'm not brought back into the state where God wants me 00:14:33.40\00:14:36.60 to be, what good is all the rest of it? 00:14:36.67\00:14:38.74 See, this is part of the plan of salvation, in my opinion, 00:14:38.77\00:14:42.11 in reading this here. 00:14:42.14\00:14:43.51 He wants to put us back like we were before sin. 00:14:43.55\00:14:48.58 And that must take place before He comes. 00:14:48.62\00:14:52.42 That's an awesome thing. 00:14:52.45\00:14:53.82 Because I look in the mirror and say, Oh God, have mercy on me! 00:14:53.86\00:14:56.16 And to me that's not always bad because it 00:14:56.19\00:14:58.96 drives me to the Savior. 00:14:59.03\00:15:00.43 I don't take it as some might take it and say, Oh, my lands, 00:15:00.46\00:15:03.23 it's useless, it's hopeless, I'm depressed, I'm out. 00:15:03.26\00:15:05.60 No! Oh Lord, have mercy on my soul! 00:15:05.63\00:15:08.30 I need some help. I need You to come in. 00:15:08.34\00:15:11.61 Being justified, praise God! 00:15:11.64\00:15:13.21 And then, of course, my time's up here, but Paul begins to 00:15:13.24\00:15:16.98 give, and some of you will bring this out, some of the benefits 00:15:17.05\00:15:19.58 of following the counsel that he gives. 00:15:19.61\00:15:23.42 And following God, do you realize, 00:15:23.49\00:15:24.92 if some of you like it, there's benefits. 00:15:24.95\00:15:27.19 And, you know, I kind of like some benefits here. 00:15:27.26\00:15:29.62 I'd like to say that heaven can be my home. 00:15:29.69\00:15:31.66 I'd like to be able to think that His blood cleanses me 00:15:31.69\00:15:33.90 from all unrighteousness. 00:15:33.93\00:15:35.23 I like to think my name is written in the 00:15:35.26\00:15:38.03 Lamb's book of life. Amen! 00:15:38.07\00:15:39.80 You see, and I believe that by faith. 00:15:39.87\00:15:41.94 And if you believe it by faith it's so. Amen! 00:15:41.97\00:15:44.11 You know, these are lessons that all this stuff needs to be 00:15:44.17\00:15:46.84 brought out in time. 00:15:46.88\00:15:48.21 Dear Sister Mollie, help us with the next part, please. 00:15:48.24\00:15:50.21 Well, something you said, Kenny, I appreciated 00:15:50.25\00:15:52.78 the way you put this. 00:15:52.81\00:15:54.18 You talked about the first Adam, and you talked 00:15:54.22\00:15:57.49 about the last Adam. 00:15:57.55\00:15:58.89 You know, sometimes I hear people say the first Adam, 00:15:58.92\00:16:01.02 and the second Adam. 00:16:01.06\00:16:02.39 That always concerns me because if there's a second Adam 00:16:02.42\00:16:05.79 what does that say? 00:16:05.83\00:16:07.13 There might be a third Adam. 00:16:07.23\00:16:08.53 No, there's never going to be another Adam. 00:16:08.56\00:16:10.47 There was the first Adam, and there's the last Adam. 00:16:10.50\00:16:13.47 And that's exactly what you said. 00:16:13.54\00:16:14.97 And I just appreciated that. 00:16:15.00\00:16:16.47 Well, I've got Monday, and we're looking 00:16:16.50\00:16:19.24 at, While Yet Sinners. 00:16:19.27\00:16:21.38 How many of you appreciate that while you were yet a 00:16:21.41\00:16:24.55 sinner God died for us? 00:16:24.58\00:16:26.82 Christ was crucified on the cross. 00:16:26.85\00:16:29.68 Let's look at this: Romans 5: 6-8 are the two Scriptures, 00:16:29.72\00:16:35.89 or the Scriptures that I'm going to cover of the three. 00:16:35.92\00:16:38.66 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ 00:16:38.69\00:16:44.70 died for the ungodly. 00:16:44.77\00:16:46.70 He died for who? the ungodly. 00:16:46.74\00:16:49.30 He didn't die; He wouldn't have needed to die if all there 00:16:49.34\00:16:53.78 was was godly people. 00:16:53.84\00:16:55.24 He died for us who were ungodly. 00:16:55.28\00:16:57.98 For scarcely for a righteous man would one die: yet perhaps 00:16:58.05\00:17:02.58 for a good man someone would even dare to die. 00:17:02.62\00:17:05.62 But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that, 00:17:05.65\00:17:11.99 while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 00:17:12.03\00:17:16.77 In the garden of Eden, in the opening moments of earth's 00:17:16.80\00:17:21.97 history, in the opening moments of mankind's existence on this 00:17:22.04\00:17:27.68 earth Adam and Eve shamefully, and inexcusably transgressed 00:17:27.71\00:17:35.38 the divine requirement. 00:17:35.42\00:17:37.75 It's called the fall. 00:17:37.79\00:17:40.06 And how did that affect us? 00:17:40.09\00:17:42.22 Did that affect us? 00:17:42.26\00:17:43.63 Did the fall of Adam and Eve affect us? Yes. Absolutely. 00:17:43.66\00:17:46.56 All mankind... I say it like this. 00:17:46.59\00:17:50.37 We fell down, and we had absolutely no way 00:17:50.43\00:17:54.24 of getting back up. 00:17:54.27\00:17:55.60 Visualize that for yourself. 00:17:55.64\00:17:57.27 I'm not into visualization. 00:17:57.31\00:17:59.17 Have you ever fallen down and you couldn't get back up? 00:17:59.21\00:18:01.98 There was no hope but Jesus. 00:18:02.01\00:18:06.11 Without outside help we had no hope. 00:18:06.15\00:18:10.12 Pastor C. A., we've got hope. Amen. 00:18:10.15\00:18:14.09 God... See, we were separated from God. 00:18:14.12\00:18:18.76 And it was an irreconcilable separation. 00:18:18.79\00:18:23.77 You know, divorces sometimes they have 00:18:23.80\00:18:25.87 irreconcilable differences? 00:18:25.90\00:18:27.84 What does that mean? No hope. 00:18:27.87\00:18:29.77 We were irreconcilably separated from God. 00:18:29.80\00:18:34.08 But... Don't you love the buts? 00:18:34.18\00:18:37.25 God took the first step. 00:18:37.28\00:18:41.05 See we couldn't take the first step. 00:18:41.08\00:18:42.68 Why couldn't we take the first step? 00:18:42.72\00:18:44.32 Cause we were, had fallen down in the quagmire of sin, 00:18:44.35\00:18:48.52 and we couldn't get up. 00:18:48.56\00:18:50.43 God took the first step toward reconciliation. 00:18:50.46\00:18:54.60 That which was irreconcilable, only God could reconcile. 00:18:54.63\00:18:58.37 That's right. He initiated a way to salvation, 00:18:58.40\00:19:02.70 a way to reconciliation. 00:19:02.74\00:19:05.04 And ever since, ever since, God has been the initiator 00:19:05.07\00:19:10.68 in inviting men and women to accept the way He provided. 00:19:10.78\00:19:16.28 It's, you know, you ever seen the picture of this big building 00:19:16.32\00:19:20.09 and Jesus is on the outside. 00:19:20.12\00:19:22.22 What's He doing? He's knocking on every one of our hearts. 00:19:22.26\00:19:26.33 And I hope that our viewing audience, and our listening 00:19:26.36\00:19:30.07 audience are full of people today that have never made 00:19:30.10\00:19:33.77 Jesus Christ the Lord of your life. 00:19:33.84\00:19:35.54 Because today is your day of salvation. 00:19:35.57\00:19:38.77 Jesus is on the outside of your heart right now knocking on 00:19:38.81\00:19:42.81 your heart saying, Let Me come in! 00:19:42.84\00:19:44.61 You've fallen and I can help you get up. 00:19:44.65\00:19:47.45 I am the way that God initiated for you to come up, 00:19:47.52\00:19:54.09 come up and out of that quagmire of sin. Amen! 00:19:54.16\00:19:57.16 Now when He knocks, when He extends His hand to every one of 00:19:57.23\00:20:02.23 us, to help us stand back up, we can do one of two things. 00:20:02.26\00:20:05.67 Can't we Pastor Kenny? Yes, we can. 00:20:05.70\00:20:07.04 One of two things: accept that hand or not accept that hand. 00:20:07.10\00:20:13.24 Let's look at the contrast. 00:20:13.27\00:20:15.18 Without reconciliation, without our standing back up we fall 00:20:15.24\00:20:22.22 under the penalty of sin. 00:20:22.25\00:20:23.89 Now what's the penalty of sin? 00:20:23.95\00:20:26.49 That would be Romans 6:23. 00:20:26.52\00:20:29.46 For the wages of sin is death. 00:20:29.49\00:20:32.13 Okay, now let's contrast that. 00:20:32.16\00:20:34.56 We can do one of two things. 00:20:34.60\00:20:37.00 In that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 00:20:37.03\00:20:40.90 So we're in a sinful state. 00:20:40.94\00:20:42.70 One of two things when He knocks at our heart, 00:20:42.74\00:20:45.27 when He offers that hand of reconciliation. 00:20:45.31\00:20:47.78 We can take that hand or we can not. 00:20:47.81\00:20:50.51 So if we don't, the wages of sin is death. 00:20:50.58\00:20:54.25 Because we just fall under the penalty of sin if we don't 00:20:54.28\00:20:57.22 accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. 00:20:57.25\00:20:59.59 But if we accept His hand, if we accept that way of 00:20:59.62\00:21:05.06 reconciliation that God made available to us, 00:21:05.13\00:21:07.86 the gift of God is eternal life. 00:21:07.86\00:21:11.00 Hey, that's eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord! 00:21:11.03\00:21:14.80 How many of you want to live forever? 00:21:14.84\00:21:16.77 How many of you want that eternal life? 00:21:16.81\00:21:18.64 To spend an eternity in the very presence of God. 00:21:18.67\00:21:21.84 You know, Kenny, you hit on that so soundly that we need to take 00:21:21.88\00:21:27.62 seriously the time and the age that we're living in, 00:21:27.65\00:21:30.79 and the time that we have left here on this earth. 00:21:30.85\00:21:33.92 Some of us are so shortsighted we lose sight of the fact that 00:21:33.96\00:21:38.09 this is all there is for us is this side of eternity. Mercy! 00:21:38.13\00:21:43.06 And if... What is the only thing we can take out 00:21:43.10\00:21:47.27 with us into eternity? 00:21:47.30\00:21:49.80 That is you character. 00:21:49.84\00:21:51.17 You see, if you don't purify and perfect your character... 00:21:51.21\00:21:56.58 And you can only do it through the blood of the Lord Jesus 00:21:56.61\00:21:58.88 Christ, and through His help. 00:21:58.91\00:22:00.32 Then this is all there is for you. 00:22:00.35\00:22:02.45 But for you that have higher aspirations this 00:22:02.48\00:22:06.79 isn't all there is. That's right. 00:22:06.86\00:22:08.19 There is an eternity in the very presence of Almighty God. 00:22:08.22\00:22:12.06 While you were yet a sinner He died for you. 00:22:12.09\00:22:15.46 He made reconciliation for you. 00:22:15.50\00:22:17.60 He made a way for those who had no other way. 00:22:17.67\00:22:21.14 He will take your hand, lift you up, and then that... 00:22:21.17\00:22:26.84 See, God will accept you just like you... 00:22:26.88\00:22:28.98 Have you ever heard anybody say, You'll just have 00:22:29.04\00:22:31.68 to take me like I am. 00:22:31.71\00:22:33.05 God will take you just like you are. 00:22:33.08\00:22:35.35 He will take you just like you are. 00:22:35.38\00:22:37.72 But He will accept you just like you are. 00:22:37.75\00:22:42.02 But for you to be able to spend an eternity in the presence of 00:22:42.06\00:22:46.19 God there is this thing called sanctification. 00:22:46.23\00:22:49.76 This thing called being purified and perfected. 00:22:49.80\00:22:53.27 God... see the number one purpose of the Holy Spirit is to 00:22:53.37\00:22:58.37 draw you to Jesus Christ, to pick you up out of that sinful 00:22:58.41\00:23:02.34 condition you're in, and to draw you into right 00:23:02.38\00:23:05.05 relationship with God. 00:23:05.08\00:23:06.41 And once you make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, 00:23:06.45\00:23:09.35 you come out of darkness into light. 00:23:09.38\00:23:11.59 You know what the number one purpose of the 00:23:11.62\00:23:13.69 Holy Spirit is then? 00:23:13.76\00:23:15.09 Your sanctification. 00:23:15.12\00:23:16.73 To lead you into coming out of darkness in every area, 00:23:16.76\00:23:21.36 and relationship of your life. 00:23:21.40\00:23:23.33 I get so far off of my lesson. 00:23:23.37\00:23:25.20 Let's look here. Then in Romans 5:9 Paul says, Much more then, 00:23:25.23\00:23:32.37 having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved 00:23:32.41\00:23:39.25 from wrath through Him. 00:23:39.28\00:23:41.22 So, what if you haven't been justified by His blood? 00:23:41.25\00:23:45.25 Are you saved from wrath? No. 00:23:45.29\00:23:47.56 Let's talk about the exodus. 00:23:47.62\00:23:49.79 And I think I've got like two minutes 00:23:49.82\00:23:51.43 to talk about the exodus. 00:23:51.46\00:23:52.79 The blood of the sacrificial lamb played a very significant 00:23:52.83\00:23:56.73 role the night before the children of Israel left Egypt. 00:23:56.80\00:24:07.28 The Israelites were instructed to do something. 00:24:07.31\00:24:09.94 They were instructed to take the blood of the lamb and apply it 00:24:10.05\00:24:14.22 to the door posts and the lentils of their homes. 00:24:14.25\00:24:16.48 Each home had a lamb. 00:24:16.52\00:24:17.92 And it was each home's responsibility to obey. 00:24:17.95\00:24:21.06 If they didn't something was going to happen. 00:24:21.09\00:24:24.16 What was going to pass over that night? 00:24:24.23\00:24:26.46 The death angel was going to pass over all 00:24:26.49\00:24:28.70 the houses in Egypt. 00:24:28.73\00:24:30.43 And God made a way. 00:24:30.47\00:24:32.03 He told them if the blood of the lamb; take that blood, 00:24:32.07\00:24:35.24 apply it to the door posts and the lentils of your homes. 00:24:35.27\00:24:38.37 And when the death angel passes over, then your firstborn 00:24:38.41\00:24:42.34 will not be affected. 00:24:42.38\00:24:44.01 But if you don't have the blood applied, 00:24:44.05\00:24:46.48 then what is going to happen? 00:24:46.51\00:24:47.85 The death angel is going to visit your house. 00:24:47.88\00:24:49.92 So, let me make this very clear, we're all going to have to 00:24:49.95\00:24:56.99 experience that night of Passover. 00:24:57.03\00:24:59.49 And at some point, you know, judgment is real. 00:24:59.53\00:25:04.87 The Scriptures says, As it is appointed unto men to die once, 00:25:04.90\00:25:09.47 but after that the judgment. 00:25:09.50\00:25:10.84 On that day of judgment do you know what the Passover, 00:25:10.91\00:25:14.31 what the death angel is looking for? 00:25:14.38\00:25:16.75 He's looking for a house that doesn't have the 00:25:16.78\00:25:19.38 blood applied to it. 00:25:19.41\00:25:20.75 But when you ask Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life, 00:25:20.82\00:25:25.55 then the blood is applied to the door post and the 00:25:25.59\00:25:28.09 lentils of your life. 00:25:28.12\00:25:29.62 Then when the death angel passes over he can't touch you. 00:25:29.66\00:25:33.60 Because judgment is real. 00:25:33.70\00:25:35.70 There is a day when you will come before the 00:25:35.73\00:25:37.83 judgment seat of Christ. 00:25:37.87\00:25:39.20 And the Lord is looking for that blood. 00:25:39.23\00:25:42.24 Because that blood that covers you cries out, Mercy! 00:25:42.27\00:25:45.87 And there will be mercy for you. 00:25:45.91\00:25:47.54 You know when you make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life 00:25:47.58\00:25:50.75 it's as though you had never sinned. 00:25:50.81\00:25:54.08 Christ died for you; died for all of us 00:25:54.12\00:25:57.19 while we were yet sinners. Pastor C. A. 00:25:57.25\00:26:00.29 Amen. The line from blood to death, and blood to life is 00:26:00.32\00:26:07.86 almost a continuum in that it was the blood 00:26:07.96\00:26:13.00 that kept from death, and it is that same blood 00:26:13.03\00:26:17.04 that leads to our life; the shed blood of Christ. 00:26:17.11\00:26:21.01 My lesson Tuesday is Death Through Sin. 00:26:21.04\00:26:28.05 And I want to stay a little closer to the lesson than I 00:26:28.08\00:26:30.92 perhaps do sometimes. 00:26:30.99\00:26:32.32 Because there are some points here that I want to elaborate 00:26:32.35\00:26:34.29 on that I find are fascinating; very integral to 00:26:34.36\00:26:38.49 Paul's argument here. 00:26:38.56\00:26:40.60 Death is an enemy. I think we all can agree on that. 00:26:40.63\00:26:44.47 It is the ultimate enemy. 00:26:44.50\00:26:46.57 When God created the human family, the lesson takes pains 00:26:46.60\00:26:51.27 to say that it was with the idea that we would live forever. 00:26:51.31\00:26:55.04 It was with the idea that we would all have uninterrupted 00:26:55.08\00:26:59.28 fellowship with Him. 00:26:59.31\00:27:00.75 The lesson says with few expectations people 00:27:00.78\00:27:04.95 do not want to die. 00:27:04.99\00:27:06.52 I have been around people who were 00:27:06.55\00:27:10.16 attempting to commit suicide. 00:27:10.19\00:27:11.79 And have ministered to people who have success, 00:27:11.83\00:27:15.60 who's the family of people who have been 00:27:15.63\00:27:18.20 successful in their attempt. 00:27:18.27\00:27:19.97 You tend to find when you deal with that enough that, 00:27:20.04\00:27:23.00 as a rule, people don't want to die. 00:27:23.04\00:27:25.47 It's usually a call for help. 00:27:25.51\00:27:26.88 They want help. They want assistance. 00:27:26.91\00:27:29.91 They have been trying to answer their own questions of life. 00:27:29.94\00:27:34.32 And the Bible is very accurate when it says that we don't have 00:27:34.35\00:27:38.65 the answers to our lives in our own hands. 00:27:38.69\00:27:41.29 There is a way that seems right sometimes, 00:27:41.36\00:27:43.93 but it's not the right way. 00:27:43.96\00:27:45.29 It leads to death. And when you run out of gas trying to run 00:27:45.33\00:27:50.23 your own life, you tend to want to end your life. 00:27:50.27\00:27:52.53 And so the quicker you can get Jesus inserted into that life 00:27:52.57\00:27:57.47 the better results you will have. 00:27:57.51\00:27:59.31 So people don't want to end their lives. 00:27:59.34\00:28:03.21 Death was intended to be an unknown entity 00:28:05.68\00:28:09.15 to the human family. 00:28:09.18\00:28:10.52 That was never God's intention for us. 00:28:10.55\00:28:13.09 So you go now to Romans 5:12. 00:28:13.12\00:28:16.26 Romans 5:12. Therefore,... And I'm reading from 00:28:17.69\00:28:21.70 the New King James. 00:28:21.73\00:28:23.06 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, 00:28:23.10\00:28:27.74 and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, 00:28:27.77\00:28:32.71 because all have sinned. 00:28:32.74\00:28:35.18 I don't want to lift over too much into what 00:28:35.21\00:28:39.48 Shelley is going to bring. 00:28:39.51\00:28:40.85 But Paul is describing here how we got into the mess. 00:28:40.92\00:28:45.89 Can we say mess? Can we use that word? Sure! 00:28:45.92\00:28:48.02 How we got into where we got to; where we are now. 00:28:48.06\00:28:51.19 And the reason I'm glad I got this particular day because 00:28:51.23\00:28:57.73 I joined the church at a fairly early age. 00:28:57.77\00:28:59.73 I gave my heart to the Lord at age 9, baptized at 10. 00:28:59.77\00:29:03.24 Most of the issues in the Adventist church, as far as our 00:29:03.27\00:29:06.64 doctrinal package, I had no problem with. 00:29:06.71\00:29:08.74 Because you're young, you just accept and shake it. 00:29:08.78\00:29:10.51 I was not trained any other way. 00:29:10.58\00:29:12.21 So this is what I've always known. 00:29:12.25\00:29:13.85 The one issue that I did have a problem with, even as a young 00:29:13.88\00:29:19.12 person, it why am I sinful? 00:29:19.15\00:29:21.79 Why is that the default setting on my life? 00:29:21.82\00:29:24.46 I knew, even as a child, there was stuff that I was leaning 00:29:24.49\00:29:29.16 towards doing that I knew I shouldn't be doing. 00:29:29.20\00:29:30.67 You know, particularly you get in hanging out with your homies, 00:29:30.70\00:29:33.17 your buddies, you know. 00:29:33.20\00:29:34.54 You start doing stuff you know you shouldn't be doing that. 00:29:34.57\00:29:37.34 But what? why is this, this pull? 00:29:37.41\00:29:41.08 Why is there this pull? 00:29:41.11\00:29:42.54 And then when I read and studied, and I found out that 00:29:42.58\00:29:45.31 death passed upon all men, because of one man's sin. 00:29:45.35\00:29:49.82 I really rebelled against that. 00:29:49.85\00:29:52.09 I didn't like that idea at all. 00:29:52.12\00:29:54.26 Why should I be messed up because he messed up? 00:29:54.29\00:29:58.43 That, even as a teenager, that really grated 00:29:58.46\00:30:02.50 against my sensibilities. 00:30:02.53\00:30:04.07 I'm a sinner cause Adam sinned. 00:30:04.13\00:30:06.60 So what's the balance? 00:30:06.63\00:30:08.74 You know, what is the balance? 00:30:08.77\00:30:11.37 Well, the balance, I think Shelley's going to talk about. 00:30:11.41\00:30:13.54 But I hesitate to lift over into your day. 00:30:13.58\00:30:16.31 But the balance is I didn't have any part in Adam, 00:30:16.34\00:30:19.25 and I didn't have any part in Jesus. 00:30:19.28\00:30:20.78 Adam got me in, Jesus got me out. Amen! 00:30:20.82\00:30:24.42 And that's the balance, you know? 00:30:24.45\00:30:26.35 One got me in. It's not my fault! 00:30:26.39\00:30:29.32 But one got me out. Not my credit, you know? 00:30:29.36\00:30:32.59 So it makes it very level. 00:30:32.63\00:30:36.36 Yeah, I've got problems. 00:30:36.40\00:30:37.77 I've got sins. I've got this nature. 00:30:37.80\00:30:40.40 But Jesus has come to rearrange all of that. Amen! 00:30:40.47\00:30:45.24 If there is a great thing in this whole cockamamie, 00:30:45.27\00:30:53.35 sin, 7,000 year experiment, it's that to them who believed on 00:30:53.38\00:31:00.26 Him, gave He the power to become. 00:31:00.29\00:31:03.36 And we can put a colon right there. 00:31:03.43\00:31:06.43 To the power to become. 00:31:06.46\00:31:07.96 Christ through His grace, through... And grace is not a, 00:31:07.96\00:31:13.64 it's not a static entity. 00:31:13.70\00:31:16.77 It's not just, I give you grace. 00:31:16.81\00:31:19.21 It's a dynamic entity. Absolutely! 00:31:19.24\00:31:21.54 It brings other things in its train. 00:31:21.58\00:31:24.01 And, Pastor Kenny, you touched on this. 00:31:24.05\00:31:26.41 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive. 00:31:26.45\00:31:30.99 But if you just forgive, you haven't really helped me. 00:31:31.02\00:31:33.36 In fact you've kind of hurt me. 00:31:33.42\00:31:34.76 You just, Stop that! Stop that! Stop! 00:31:34.79\00:31:36.62 And there's never any punishment. 00:31:36.69\00:31:38.53 Well, after a while it kind of loses its, you know, 00:31:38.56\00:31:40.86 it loses its sting. 00:31:40.90\00:31:42.20 He forgives me, and then He cleanses me. 00:31:42.23\00:31:47.37 Yeah, don't make me a perpetual sinner by just forgiving me. 00:31:48.00\00:31:51.07 You've got to put some... Something's got to change! 00:31:51.11\00:31:53.41 So He cleanses me. 00:31:53.44\00:31:54.98 And that's the wonderful thing about the justification, 00:31:55.04\00:31:59.15 sanctification continuum. 00:31:59.21\00:32:00.85 Because I think they're on the same line. 00:32:00.92\00:32:02.25 One is I'm credited for being righteous. 00:32:02.28\00:32:06.62 And then He gets in there and actually begins 00:32:06.69\00:32:08.42 to make me righteous. 00:32:08.46\00:32:09.79 So He forgives me, and then He cleanses me. 00:32:09.82\00:32:14.46 And sometimes we all know that cleansing process 00:32:14.50\00:32:17.83 can be a little rough. 00:32:17.87\00:32:19.20 You know, it can be a little hard. 00:32:19.23\00:32:20.70 Cause when you're sanding stuff down sparks fly, and dust flies, 00:32:20.74\00:32:24.51 and sand, wood flies, you know? 00:32:24.54\00:32:25.87 But the upshot is you get this smooth surface, you know. 00:32:25.91\00:32:32.51 And that's what Christ wants. 00:32:32.55\00:32:34.08 So, going back to the lesson, the lesson says that 00:32:34.18\00:32:40.02 commentators have argued over this quite a bit. 00:32:40.06\00:32:42.96 And I've read some of this material. 00:32:42.99\00:32:45.83 The medieval church solved it by saying that we are 00:32:45.86\00:32:52.97 credited with Adam's sin. 00:32:53.00\00:32:54.64 Which is a doctrine that they called original sin. 00:32:54.67\00:32:57.97 That we are credited with Adam's sin. 00:32:58.01\00:33:01.51 But when the Protestant Reformation came along 00:33:01.54\00:33:04.58 they rejected that. 00:33:04.61\00:33:06.55 Your sins are enough to send you to hell. 00:33:06.58\00:33:10.09 You don't need Adam's sin. That's right! 00:33:10.12\00:33:11.82 Adam had to get in just like we are to get in, you know. 00:33:13.96\00:33:16.39 So your sins will keep you out. 00:33:16.42\00:33:18.23 So, and if we are credited with Adam's sin, then we wouldn't 00:33:18.26\00:33:22.86 need to change our own lives, because we've just got to 00:33:22.90\00:33:27.44 deal with Adam's sin. 00:33:27.50\00:33:28.84 But we have to deal with our own sins. 00:33:28.87\00:33:30.21 We've got to deal with what our relationship with Christ is, 00:33:30.24\00:33:33.94 and what it is going to become. 00:33:33.98\00:33:35.31 So, the lesson says folk have tried to answer that question 00:33:35.34\00:33:39.15 for many, many years. 00:33:39.18\00:33:40.52 But that the... You know, you get so excited about the subject 00:33:40.58\00:33:44.89 you almost lose your mind. 00:33:44.92\00:33:46.25 You just ha ba ha ba ha ba kind of thing. 00:33:46.29\00:33:48.39 All have sinned. So Adam has sinned, but so have I. 00:33:48.42\00:33:54.00 God will take care of Adam, and God will take care of me. 00:33:54.03\00:33:57.53 Amen. Yes. And I've got to surrender myself. 00:33:57.57\00:33:59.43 So I'm going to die because of my own unforgiven sins, 00:33:59.47\00:34:04.01 not because of Adam's. Right. 00:34:04.04\00:34:05.87 The wages of sin is death. 00:34:05.91\00:34:07.71 But the gift of God is eternal life for me, and for Kenny, 00:34:07.74\00:34:11.81 and for Mollie, and for Shelley, and for Jill, and for everyone 00:34:11.88\00:34:15.92 out there who's looking and listening. 00:34:15.95\00:34:17.69 Because Christ died for all of us. 00:34:17.72\00:34:21.56 And His blood is sufficient for each and every one of us. 00:34:21.59\00:34:24.66 You know, ten minutes is an awfully short time? It is! 00:34:24.69\00:34:27.73 ...to do what you need to do. 00:34:29.40\00:34:30.73 We need to recognize that we are sinners. 00:34:30.77\00:34:34.00 And I think in one of the weeks past, Mollie it was you, 00:34:34.10\00:34:38.44 or perhaps Shelley who said, this idea to accept that we are 00:34:38.47\00:34:43.95 sinners, people think, I am not so bad. 00:34:44.01\00:34:45.91 I don't rob, I don't steal, I don't kill, you know. 00:34:45.95\00:34:48.78 I don't steal from the government, and I pay my taxes. 00:34:48.82\00:34:50.75 I can't be that bad. 00:34:50.79\00:34:52.45 And it's very hard to realize and understand that you have 00:34:52.49\00:34:55.82 been called to keep a righteous law that is so far above you 00:34:55.86\00:35:00.13 that without the indwelling of a righteous God, 00:35:00.16\00:35:03.06 you don't even have a chance. 00:35:03.10\00:35:05.00 So you're looking at yourself. 00:35:05.03\00:35:06.87 One, for one your viewers parallax. 00:35:06.94\00:35:09.34 You can't really see yourself as you are. 00:35:09.37\00:35:11.01 So it's like looking in a mirror at a fun house, you know. 00:35:11.04\00:35:12.71 You may be thin and the mirror makes you fat. 00:35:12.74\00:35:14.28 You may be fat; the mirror makes you thin. 00:35:14.31\00:35:15.74 So you're not getting an accurate 00:35:15.78\00:35:17.15 representation of who you are. 00:35:17.18\00:35:18.51 But as you look through the word of God you see who you are. 00:35:18.55\00:35:22.28 And it is that realization of who you are that 00:35:22.35\00:35:25.05 drives you to Jesus. 00:35:25.09\00:35:26.86 Because without Jesus you have no hope of ever becoming what 00:35:26.89\00:35:30.73 Jesus wants you to be. 00:35:30.76\00:35:32.09 So the lesson says, and it is true, we must recognize 00:35:32.13\00:35:34.36 that we are sinners. 00:35:34.40\00:35:35.73 And it is in the recognition that we are sinners that we are 00:35:35.76\00:35:40.30 moved in the direction of Jesus. 00:35:40.34\00:35:42.87 Because the only way to get us from sinner to saint is through 00:35:42.94\00:35:46.78 Jesus, and Jesus living in us. 00:35:46.84\00:35:49.04 And that's the burden that we have. 00:35:49.08\00:35:51.95 And that is the success of Christ in our lives that we come 00:35:51.98\00:35:55.78 from a sinner to a saint through the blood, through the power, 00:35:55.82\00:35:58.95 through the grace, through the goodness, through the mercy 00:35:58.99\00:36:00.99 of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 00:36:01.02\00:36:02.96 Amen and amen. Well, done! 00:36:03.02\00:36:04.89 And I love everyone's enthusiasm. Pray for me. 00:36:04.93\00:36:08.46 I've got the enthusiasm, just not the energy to 00:36:08.50\00:36:12.00 deliver the enthusiasm. 00:36:12.03\00:36:13.37 Um, you know, when I think about... If you think about the 00:36:13.44\00:36:18.34 first Adam, and the second or last Adam, 00:36:18.37\00:36:22.31 both were representatives of the human race, were they not? 00:36:22.34\00:36:27.75 So we have Adam, who was the father of the human race, 00:36:27.78\00:36:32.35 and Christ who represented all of us on the cross. 00:36:32.39\00:36:34.92 So certainly what Christ came to do was to undo what 00:36:34.96\00:36:39.79 the first Adam did. Right? 00:36:39.83\00:36:41.50 So my verse for Wednesday is, the lesson title is, 00:36:41.53\00:36:47.04 From Adam to Moses. 00:36:47.10\00:36:48.90 And the verse is Romans 5:13, 14. 00:36:48.94\00:36:52.14 So let's just unpack that as we go. 00:36:52.17\00:36:55.31 He says in Verse 13: For until the law sin was in the world; 00:36:55.38\00:37:02.65 but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 00:37:02.68\00:37:07.99 So since the fall, from the very beginning, since the fall of 00:37:08.02\00:37:11.83 Adam sin, even though we are not accountable for the original 00:37:11.86\00:37:20.24 sin, original sin had a mortal effect on earth's inhabitants. 00:37:20.27\00:37:26.31 Well said. Uh huh. 00:37:26.34\00:37:27.68 So the... But it says sin is not imputed where there is no law. 00:37:27.71\00:37:32.58 The moral law was known in principle from 00:37:32.61\00:37:35.85 the beginning of time. 00:37:35.92\00:37:37.29 And you can look at Joseph. 00:37:37.32\00:37:38.65 He knew that he shouldn't lay with Potiphar's wife. 00:37:38.69\00:37:42.89 He said, How can I sin against my God by doing this? 00:37:42.92\00:37:47.20 So Joseph knew that this was adultery. 00:37:47.23\00:37:50.43 We think of Jacob when he said, Okay, you've got to get all of 00:37:50.47\00:37:56.67 the idols out of the camp. 00:37:56.71\00:37:58.04 He knew idols were wrong. 00:37:58.07\00:37:59.41 Sin is the transgression of God's moral law. 00:37:59.44\00:38:03.31 So the penalty for breaking it though was not really taken 00:38:03.38\00:38:09.28 into account until the law of Moses. 00:38:09.32\00:38:12.02 I guess you could say the physical death was, 00:38:12.05\00:38:14.32 but the full penalty. 00:38:14.36\00:38:15.92 So Verse 14. He says, Nevertheless death reigned 00:38:15.96\00:38:20.16 from Adam to Moses,... From creation to Mount Sinai. 00:38:20.23\00:38:24.27 ...even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness 00:38:24.30\00:38:28.87 of the transgression of Adam, who is a type... Adam... who is 00:38:28.90\00:38:35.04 a type of Him... Of Christ ... who was to come. 00:38:35.08\00:38:39.51 So the contrast here between the first Adam and the last Adam... 00:38:39.58\00:38:46.05 The first Adam was the counterpart of 00:38:46.12\00:38:48.69 Christ, if you would. 00:38:48.72\00:38:50.06 The last Adam is Jesus Christ. 00:38:50.13\00:38:52.16 And as I said, Adam represented all of humanity, 00:38:52.19\00:38:56.50 just as Christ did on the cross. 00:38:56.53\00:38:58.57 And because of Adam's death we were plunged into physical, 00:38:58.60\00:39:04.44 and spiritual death. 00:39:04.47\00:39:06.91 We all inherited not his sin, but the propensity toward sin, 00:39:06.94\00:39:13.58 and the tendency to sin. 00:39:13.65\00:39:15.35 So Paul said of Adam in 1 Corinthians 15:22 that in Adam 00:39:15.38\00:39:24.16 all die, because Adam was the head of the human race. 00:39:24.19\00:39:29.36 And that made the race guilty, and it's in and of itself. 00:39:29.40\00:39:33.37 And sin does something to mar the image of God in us. 00:39:33.44\00:39:38.71 So we lost our peace with God when we had this kind of 00:39:38.74\00:39:44.05 inherited guilt, is what I'll say. 00:39:44.08\00:39:46.28 So the last Adam, Jesus Christ, is the head of the new spiritual 00:39:46.35\00:39:52.35 race, and we're all made righteous. 00:39:52.39\00:39:54.69 Like I said, He came to undo what Adam did. 00:39:54.72\00:39:58.26 He restores the image of God in us, 00:39:58.29\00:40:02.13 and He restores our peace with God. 00:40:02.16\00:40:06.00 So let's continue reading. 00:40:06.03\00:40:07.87 And, by the way, I just have to say it was, even in the Old 00:40:07.90\00:40:13.74 Testament times, it wasn't law that offered the remedy for sin. 00:40:13.78\00:40:19.51 What offered the remedy for sin? 00:40:19.55\00:40:21.38 It's in the Old Testament. 00:40:21.42\00:40:23.75 It was the sacrificial system that pointed to Christ. 00:40:23.79\00:40:27.86 This... It was grace. 00:40:27.89\00:40:30.09 So its always been the sacrifice of Jesus. 00:40:30.13\00:40:33.96 And I think, personally, we've got it a whole lot easier than 00:40:34.00\00:40:41.70 they did to accept by faith God's grace. 00:40:41.77\00:40:45.67 Because the idea that slitting a lamb's throat made 00:40:45.74\00:40:51.41 my sins atoned for. 00:40:51.48\00:40:54.72 When you think about this... Of course they knew 00:40:54.75\00:40:57.02 it pointed to Christ. 00:40:57.05\00:40:58.39 But we actually have the evidence. 00:40:58.42\00:41:01.42 I mean they were looking forward to the promise. 00:41:01.46\00:41:03.43 We look back to His actual coming. 00:41:03.46\00:41:05.86 So now let's look at Romans 5: 21, 22. 00:41:05.89\00:41:10.87 So here he's saying that... We just got through saying 00:41:10.93\00:41:15.14 that until the law was in the world sin was not imputed. 00:41:15.20\00:41:19.37 But in Romans 5:20 and 21, it says, Moreover the law 00:41:19.41\00:41:24.71 entered, that the offense might abound. 00:41:24.75\00:41:30.25 But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more. 00:41:30.29\00:41:33.46 God gave the law to show us His holiness, His character, 00:41:33.52\00:41:40.46 His standards, and it points, it multiplies in our minds 00:41:40.50\00:41:49.50 somehow, it multiplies the trespass when we have 00:41:49.54\00:41:54.41 the knowledge of sin. 00:41:54.44\00:41:55.78 I might, because I mean even, I'm sure, each one of you 00:41:55.81\00:41:59.28 probably experience this, unless you're much 00:41:59.31\00:42:01.95 further along than I am. 00:42:01.98\00:42:03.32 But even every now and then I'll be reading something, 00:42:03.39\00:42:05.55 and I'll think, Ahhh! Oh my, I do that! 00:42:05.59\00:42:09.22 Oh Lord, forgive me! 00:42:09.26\00:42:11.53 It's not until I have the knowledge of it that I'm going, 00:42:11.56\00:42:16.13 Oh, ouch Lord! I am disappointing You here. 00:42:16.16\00:42:19.20 So what sin, what the law did was help us recognize our sin, 00:42:19.23\00:42:27.28 and how great of sinners we are, but it also highlights 00:42:27.34\00:42:32.18 our need for grace. 00:42:32.21\00:42:33.58 And that was what God wanted to do is He wanted to say, 00:42:33.62\00:42:36.65 See you can't do this by yourself, Mollie Sue Steenson. 00:42:36.69\00:42:39.85 You can't do this, Kenny. 00:42:39.89\00:42:42.16 You've got to have My grace. 00:42:42.19\00:42:45.86 And what I love about God is no matter how deep and wide 00:42:45.89\00:42:51.03 sin is, grace is deeper, and grace is wider. 00:42:51.07\00:42:54.84 So I just want to take a moment, and I just have a couple of 00:42:54.87\00:43:00.08 minutes left, but I have to say this to you, 00:43:00.11\00:43:02.01 somebody who's watching. 00:43:02.04\00:43:03.38 You may feel like, Ah, these people, yeah, they seem happy. 00:43:03.45\00:43:08.45 They're excited about this lesson 00:43:08.48\00:43:10.09 because they're Christians. 00:43:10.12\00:43:11.45 They didn't do what I did. 00:43:11.49\00:43:12.95 Maybe you're sitting in prison, or maybe you have just gone 00:43:12.99\00:43:17.89 through an adulterous affair, and you think, 00:43:17.93\00:43:19.86 How can God forgive me? 00:43:19.89\00:43:22.46 Maybe you're an elder of a church and you've done 00:43:22.50\00:43:24.60 something like that. 00:43:24.63\00:43:25.97 Let me tell you something. 00:43:26.00\00:43:27.60 All you have to do is get on your knees and say, I'm sorry. 00:43:27.64\00:43:33.78 Lord, I'm sorry. I need You. 00:43:33.84\00:43:37.01 All we have to do is confess our great need of Him. 00:43:37.05\00:43:42.82 And He is... It's just like when the prodigal son came to his 00:43:42.85\00:43:48.02 senses and returned home. 00:43:48.06\00:43:50.29 The father had been watching for him, 00:43:50.33\00:43:53.36 praying for him to come in. 00:43:53.40\00:43:55.60 And the Father represents Christ and God. 00:43:55.63\00:43:58.70 And the father actually broke into a run, and ran out to greet 00:43:58.73\00:44:04.41 him, which men of the Middle East did not do. 00:44:04.44\00:44:08.01 It was beneath their dignity. 00:44:08.04\00:44:09.98 But he was so excited that he ran and he grabbed him. 00:44:10.05\00:44:14.12 And when the son said, Oh, I'm not worthy of you father. 00:44:14.15\00:44:17.75 I've sinned against you. 00:44:17.79\00:44:19.12 Just let me be a servant in your house. 00:44:19.15\00:44:20.89 He said to his servants, No, bring him the robe. 00:44:20.96\00:44:23.83 Bring him the ring, the signet ring; the authority, 00:44:23.86\00:44:26.80 the robe of righteousness. 00:44:26.83\00:44:28.13 Bring him his sandals. 00:44:28.16\00:44:29.50 Let me kill the fatted calf. 00:44:29.53\00:44:30.97 And that's what God did. 00:44:31.00\00:44:33.50 Now I've got one more minute to get to the most important 00:44:33.54\00:44:36.17 part of this Scripture here. 00:44:36.20\00:44:38.04 Verse 21, Romans 5:21. 00:44:38.07\00:44:41.11 There's a double juxtaposition here, 00:44:41.14\00:44:44.15 and I want you to notice this. 00:44:44.21\00:44:46.61 He's going to compare two totally different things twice. 00:44:46.68\00:44:50.45 He said, So that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might 00:44:50.49\00:44:56.59 reign through righteousness to eternal life through 00:44:56.62\00:45:01.16 Jesus Christ our Lord. 00:45:01.20\00:45:03.23 Do you see that double juxtaposition? 00:45:03.26\00:45:05.40 There's sin and righteousness. 00:45:05.43\00:45:08.20 Those are totally opposite. 00:45:08.24\00:45:10.74 There's death and life. 00:45:10.81\00:45:12.37 So that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign 00:45:12.41\00:45:17.45 through righteousness. 00:45:17.48\00:45:18.81 This is the great contrast between our sin 00:45:18.85\00:45:22.92 and Christ's obedience. 00:45:22.95\00:45:25.49 What is the wages of sin? 00:45:25.52\00:45:27.06 We've said it over and over. 00:45:27.09\00:45:28.42 So the wages of sin is death and separation from God. 00:45:28.46\00:45:35.36 Sin has reigned and separated us from our Creator. 00:45:35.40\00:45:40.44 And when that came into effect, it caused our end to be a mortal 00:45:40.50\00:45:45.54 one that we would die eternally. 00:45:45.57\00:45:48.94 But Christ dethroned sin through His blood. 00:45:48.98\00:45:53.05 His righteousness reigns instead. 00:45:53.08\00:45:57.09 And death can be overcome through Christ Jesus. 00:45:57.15\00:46:01.99 Eternal life is offered by Him when we become a new 00:46:02.02\00:46:06.06 creation in Christ. 00:46:06.09\00:46:07.46 Amen! Thank you so you so much Shelley. 00:46:07.50\00:46:09.63 What a powerful study this week to see that through Adam's sin, 00:46:09.66\00:46:14.47 through what he did sin entered the world. 00:46:14.50\00:46:17.91 The consequences entered the world. 00:46:17.94\00:46:20.18 We live in a world of sin, but through the Lord Jesus Christ... 00:46:20.21\00:46:23.14 As you said, Mollie. I love that. 00:46:23.18\00:46:24.55 ...the last Adam, we have the gift and the 00:46:24.58\00:46:27.72 hope of eternal life. 00:46:27.75\00:46:29.08 So praise the Lord for that. 00:46:29.12\00:46:30.49 I have Thursday, which the lesson calls 00:46:30.52\00:46:32.92 Jesus, the Second Adam. 00:46:32.95\00:46:34.79 But we could call it Jesus, the Last Adam. 00:46:34.82\00:46:38.46 So let's take a look. 00:46:38.49\00:46:40.00 We're going to look at those verses, actually that you just 00:46:40.03\00:46:42.56 skipped here, which is my portion here. 00:46:42.60\00:46:44.87 We're in Romans 5, starting with verse 15. 00:46:44.90\00:46:50.07 Now as we read this, I want you to count how many times the 00:46:50.11\00:46:53.64 word gift is mentioned in this passage. 00:46:53.68\00:46:56.95 But the free gift is not like the offense... 00:46:57.01\00:47:02.85 The free gift, God's gift of grace, His death on the cross. 00:47:02.88\00:47:07.82 Because of that it's not like the offense; the fall of Adam. 00:47:07.86\00:47:11.49 For if by the one man's offense,... 00:47:11.53\00:47:14.76 Meaning by Adam's sin. 00:47:14.83\00:47:16.30 ...many died, much more the grace of God, and the gift by 00:47:16.33\00:47:22.27 the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ abounded to many. 00:47:22.30\00:47:27.78 Verse 16. And the gift is not like that which came through 00:47:27.81\00:47:33.42 the one who sinned. 00:47:33.45\00:47:34.78 Through Adam meaning. 00:47:34.82\00:47:36.69 For the judgment, which came from one offense, 00:47:36.72\00:47:40.36 resulted in condemnation. 00:47:40.39\00:47:42.36 Meaning when Adam sinned this whole world was brought under 00:47:42.39\00:47:45.33 that condemnation of the law. 00:47:45.36\00:47:47.83 But the free gift, which came from many offenses, 00:47:47.86\00:47:52.90 resulted in justification. 00:47:52.93\00:47:55.40 Because of the last Adam, because of 00:47:55.44\00:47:57.37 the Lord Jesus Christ, we can be justified. 00:47:57.47\00:48:01.04 Verse 17. For if by the one man's offense... 00:48:01.08\00:48:04.61 Meaning Adam's sin. 00:48:04.65\00:48:05.98 ...death reigned through the one; much more those who receive 00:48:06.01\00:48:09.88 abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign 00:48:09.92\00:48:15.49 in life through the one, Jesus Christ. 00:48:15.52\00:48:17.86 Verse 18. Therefore, as through one man's offense... 00:48:17.89\00:48:21.90 We already mentioned that's Adam's sin. 00:48:21.93\00:48:23.97 ...judgment came to all men resulting in condemnation; 00:48:24.00\00:48:29.30 even so through one man's righteous act the free gift 00:48:29.34\00:48:34.28 came to all men resulting in justification of life. 00:48:34.31\00:48:39.11 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, 00:48:39.15\00:48:43.28 so also by one man's obedience many will be made righteous. 00:48:43.32\00:48:49.09 Now how many times was the word gift mentioned there? 00:48:49.12\00:48:51.66 Did anybody count? I got six. 00:48:51.69\00:48:53.03 Six? Absolutely! If you look in the original Greek it's only 00:48:53.06\00:48:56.67 mentioned five times. 00:48:56.73\00:48:58.07 One of them does not have that word for gift 00:48:58.10\00:49:00.57 in the original Greek. 00:49:00.60\00:49:02.90 But whether it's five or six, the point is it's 00:49:02.94\00:49:05.87 mentioned a lot of times. 00:49:05.91\00:49:07.54 And the word for gift in the Greek is two different 00:49:07.61\00:49:10.38 words mentioned here. 00:49:10.48\00:49:11.81 One is charisma. I hope I'm saying that correctly. 00:49:11.85\00:49:15.18 And that is a gift of grace. 00:49:15.22\00:49:18.82 An undeserved favor of free gift. 00:49:18.85\00:49:21.32 That's mentioned twice. 00:49:21.36\00:49:22.69 And in my translation every time it says free gift, 00:49:22.72\00:49:25.93 that's translated from the original Greek, charisma, 00:49:25.96\00:49:29.30 meaning that gift of grace. 00:49:29.33\00:49:31.27 The other times the word gift is mentioned it's doria, doria. 00:49:31.30\00:49:37.21 And that is a gift without repayment. 00:49:37.24\00:49:39.97 A gift that is freely given. 00:49:40.01\00:49:42.41 And it's interesting, every time it says, but the free gift, 00:49:42.44\00:49:45.45 meaning Christ's coming, His death, His substitutionary 00:49:45.48\00:49:49.65 death for you and for I. 00:49:49.68\00:49:51.02 We have the hope of eternal life. 00:49:51.05\00:49:53.69 Now Paul mentions it actually many different ways. 00:49:53.76\00:49:56.49 Because I think he's trying to get his point across. 00:49:56.52\00:49:59.26 He kind of says the same thing in a little different words 00:49:59.29\00:50:01.96 for several times through those verses. 00:50:02.00\00:50:03.83 Namely that because of Adam's sin we were all brought under 00:50:03.87\00:50:07.74 the condemnation or the curse of the law. 00:50:07.77\00:50:09.57 But because of the Lord Jesus Christ, the last Adam, 00:50:09.60\00:50:13.24 we all have the hope of eternal life and that justification. 00:50:13.34\00:50:17.11 I want to look at one thing in Verse 18, and then we'll jump 00:50:17.15\00:50:20.88 over to 1 Corinthians. 00:50:20.92\00:50:22.25 In Verse 18 it says, Therefore, as through one man's offense 00:50:22.28\00:50:25.95 judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation; 00:50:25.99\00:50:29.19 even so through one man's righteous act the free gift 00:50:29.22\00:50:33.26 came to all men resulting in justification of life. 00:50:33.36\00:50:36.33 Now in Deuteronomy 27, 27 and 28, we have the law of 00:50:36.36\00:50:41.20 blessing and cursing. 00:50:41.24\00:50:42.57 Remember when they were on the mount, and there was the law 00:50:42.60\00:50:44.51 of blessing and cursing. 00:50:44.54\00:50:45.87 If you do these things blessings will attend upon you. 00:50:45.91\00:50:49.61 Or if you disobey, and don't obey, these curses 00:50:49.64\00:50:53.95 will come upon you. 00:50:53.98\00:50:55.32 They call that the Deuteronomic... I don't know if 00:50:55.35\00:50:57.82 I'm pronouncing that right. 00:50:57.85\00:50:59.19 ... Deuteronimic principle. 00:50:59.22\00:51:00.76 Which is really the law in Galatians 6. 00:51:00.79\00:51:02.92 It's what Mollie always talks about. 00:51:02.96\00:51:04.33 The law of sewing and reaping. 00:51:04.36\00:51:05.73 If we sew to the flesh we will of the flesh reap corruption. 00:51:05.76\00:51:08.83 If we sew to the Spirit we will of the Spirit 00:51:08.86\00:51:11.27 reap life everlasting. 00:51:11.30\00:51:12.80 You think about the sin of Achan. 00:51:12.83\00:51:14.74 That's an example of one man's sin brought curse, 00:51:14.80\00:51:19.31 you could say destruction, upon the entire encampment of Israel. 00:51:19.34\00:51:23.91 When they went out to the Battle of Ai, what happened? 00:51:23.95\00:51:26.15 They were defeated because of one man's sin. 00:51:26.18\00:51:28.95 That's an example as what happened with Adam 00:51:28.98\00:51:31.59 when his sin, and sin entered the whole world. 00:51:31.65\00:51:34.22 We won't turn there, but in Numbers 25 you have the story of 00:51:34.26\00:51:38.09 Baalpeor, when remember, Balaam was supposed to curse Israel, 00:51:38.13\00:51:44.70 and instead he ended up blessing Israel. 00:51:44.73\00:51:46.53 So he tried to get the Moabite women to come in and to 00:51:46.57\00:51:50.17 intermingle and bring in some destruction into the camp 00:51:50.24\00:51:56.04 just because of compromise. 00:51:56.08\00:51:58.15 Because of their association with the other nations. 00:51:58.18\00:52:00.42 And at that time Phineas stood up and he... 00:52:00.45\00:52:05.22 It's kind of a gruesome story. 00:52:05.29\00:52:06.62 But he actually slew someone. 00:52:06.65\00:52:08.39 And because of his action in doing that, one of the people 00:52:08.42\00:52:12.09 who was bringing the sin into the camp, 00:52:12.13\00:52:14.46 God stayed the plague that was coming against the people. 00:52:14.50\00:52:17.33 So you see through one man's righteous act a good came. 00:52:17.37\00:52:20.90 Now we see obviously, because of Adam's sin... 00:52:20.94\00:52:23.10 Those are just examples. 00:52:23.14\00:52:24.47 But because of Adam's sin we see that great 00:52:24.51\00:52:26.21 condemnation that came. 00:52:26.24\00:52:27.58 And because of Jesus we have that righteousness, 00:52:27.61\00:52:30.21 that hope of eternal life. 00:52:30.25\00:52:31.65 Let's look at two Scriptures real quickly. 00:52:31.71\00:52:33.68 Let's look at 1 Corinthians 15. 00:52:33.78\00:52:35.95 And I think Pastor Kenny and Shelley, 00:52:35.98\00:52:38.25 you both referenced this. 00:52:38.29\00:52:39.62 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22. 00:52:39.65\00:52:45.53 For since by man came death, ... Meaning by Adam. 00:52:46.46\00:52:50.03 ...by man also came the resurrection of the dead. 00:52:50.10\00:52:53.47 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all 00:52:53.50\00:52:57.54 shall be made alive. 00:52:57.57\00:52:58.91 And let's jump over to Verse 42. 00:52:58.94\00:53:01.18 So also is the resurrection of the dead. 00:53:01.21\00:53:03.85 The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 00:53:03.88\00:53:07.62 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory: it is sown in 00:53:07.65\00:53:11.49 weakness, it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body, 00:53:11.52\00:53:15.32 it is raised a spiritual body. 00:53:15.36\00:53:17.23 There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 00:53:17.33\00:53:20.13 Now we come to the point 45. 00:53:20.20\00:53:21.50 And so it is written, the first man Adam became a living being; 00:53:22.10\00:53:26.80 Remember when God breathed the breath of life into him 00:53:26.84\00:53:30.11 he became a living being. 00:53:30.17\00:53:32.21 The last Adam, Jesus Christ, became a life giving spirit. 00:53:32.24\00:53:37.85 Adam was natural; Christ is spiritual. 00:53:37.88\00:53:41.22 Adam was living, but Christ is life giving. 00:53:41.25\00:53:45.32 46. However the spiritual is not first, but the natural;... 00:53:45.35\00:53:49.79 Meaning Adam came first. 00:53:49.82\00:53:51.16 ... and afterward the spiritual. 00:53:51.19\00:53:52.86 The first man was of the earth, made of dust: the second man is 00:53:52.89\00:53:56.00 the Lord from heaven. 00:53:56.03\00:53:58.03 Now in the remaining time I have I just want 00:53:58.07\00:54:00.34 to do a contrast here: the first Adam with the last Adam. 00:54:00.37\00:54:04.14 The first Adam was the ruler of creation. 00:54:04.21\00:54:07.51 He was given dominion by God in the garden of 00:54:07.58\00:54:10.48 Eden over the creation. 00:54:10.55\00:54:13.92 The last Adam, Jesus Christ, Colossians 1:15, Christ is the 00:54:13.95\00:54:17.95 image of the invisible God, the first born over all creation, 00:54:17.99\00:54:22.42 author and finisher of our faith. 00:54:22.46\00:54:24.36 He says, If anyone is in Christ, you are a new creation. 00:54:24.39\00:54:28.26 The first Adam lost his crown and gained death. 00:54:28.30\00:54:32.47 The last Adam, Jesus Christ, was crowned because He tasted 00:54:32.50\00:54:39.31 death for every man. 00:54:39.34\00:54:40.68 He was made like his brother, so that by his death he might 00:54:40.74\00:54:44.75 destroy him who holds the power of death. That is the Devil. 00:54:44.78\00:54:48.85 That's from Hebrews. 00:54:48.88\00:54:50.25 The first Adam, sin and death entered the world through him. 00:54:50.29\00:54:54.32 By the obedience of the last Adam life 00:54:54.36\00:54:58.83 abounds to you and to me. 00:54:58.86\00:55:00.86 God breathed into Adam the breath of life. 00:55:00.93\00:55:04.27 Jesus, John 20:22, breathed on His disciples and said, 00:55:04.30\00:55:09.90 Receive you the Holy Ghost. 00:55:09.94\00:55:12.31 As in Adam all die... We read this already. 00:55:12.34\00:55:15.21 So in Christ all shall be made alive. 00:55:15.24\00:55:18.28 Adam came from dust; Jesus came from heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:57 00:55:18.31\00:55:24.62 Adam was called out out hiding. 00:55:24.65\00:55:27.19 Remember after sin he went into hiding. 00:55:27.26\00:55:29.69 He was called out of hiding. 00:55:29.72\00:55:31.06 Jesus calls us by name. 00:55:31.29\00:55:33.90 We hear His voice and we follow Him. John 10. 00:55:33.93\00:55:37.77 We bear the likeness of the first Adam; 00:55:37.80\00:55:39.80 created in his likeness. 00:55:39.83\00:55:41.20 But in the resurrection we will all bear the likeness of the 00:55:41.24\00:55:45.07 last Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:55:45.11\00:55:47.18 Praise the Lord! You know, again that's how 00:55:47.24\00:55:51.81 powerful this lesson is. 00:55:51.85\00:55:53.58 There's so much to it that we could just dig, and dig, 00:55:53.62\00:55:55.78 and dig, and go over, and over, and still pull out 00:55:55.82\00:55:57.99 some beautiful gems. 00:55:58.02\00:55:59.35 So a minute and a half is all we have left right here; quick gem, 00:55:59.39\00:56:02.56 quick thought from each one of you right quick. 00:56:02.59\00:56:04.53 If we could do that. So right here. 00:56:04.56\00:56:06.96 Oh, go ahead, Shelley. 00:56:07.03\00:56:08.33 I just wanted to say, what you just said tells me that all of 00:56:08.36\00:56:10.77 us should... It's not like... The Bible's not a book that you 00:56:10.80\00:56:14.30 just read from cover to cover once. 00:56:14.34\00:56:16.07 You can study the Bible for all of your life and still be 00:56:16.10\00:56:19.74 learning more and new things. 00:56:19.77\00:56:21.54 And anything as rich as the book of Romans is incredible. 00:56:21.58\00:56:24.68 I'm so glad that Christ's blood covers all sin; Adam's sin, 00:56:27.88\00:56:33.09 my sins, and the sin of everyone who comes to Him. 00:56:33.12\00:56:37.13 And that's the message that is drawn again, and again, again, 00:56:37.16\00:56:40.53 and again, and again in Romans. 00:56:40.60\00:56:42.20 It may be the most important message in the world. 00:56:42.23\00:56:44.73 Amen! Yes it is. Jill. 00:56:44.77\00:56:47.30 Oh, I just want to make an appeal to you to make a choice 00:56:47.34\00:56:50.97 to accept the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:56:51.01\00:56:52.47 Praise God that He is the last Adam. 00:56:52.51\00:56:55.24 That we have that hope, that opportunity of spending 00:56:55.28\00:56:58.95 eternal life with Him. 00:56:58.98\00:57:00.38 And while you were yet sinners Christ died for you. 00:57:00.45\00:57:04.12 And now you have an opportunity to be in right relationship. 00:57:04.15\00:57:07.82 Accept that last Adam. 00:57:07.86\00:57:10.29 Amen! You know how wonderful that is? 00:57:10.36\00:57:12.19 Grace abounded more. 00:57:12.23\00:57:13.56 Yeah, isn't that just beautiful to think about right now? 00:57:13.63\00:57:15.26 The appeal goes out; Jesus has His arms outstretched. 00:57:15.30\00:57:17.93 He wants you in the kingdom. 00:57:17.97\00:57:19.80 You know, heaven won't be the same if one of you are missing. 00:57:19.83\00:57:22.24 When one is missing it will never be the same. 00:57:22.27\00:57:24.01 So let's make sure we're there. 00:57:24.04\00:57:25.37 Let's make sure that we made that decision for Christ. 00:57:25.41\00:57:27.78 Accept His righteousness, and I guarantee you 00:57:27.81\00:57:30.35 by His grace we will be there. 00:57:30.38\00:57:31.71 God bless you! Thanks for joining us. 00:57:31.75\00:57:33.15 See you next time. Amen! 00:57:33.18\00:57:35.08
