00:02:31.38\00:02:34.42 I have a number of favorite words in the Bible, "Gospel," 00:02:34.45\00:02:38.15 "covenant," and "sanctuary" is one of them. 00:02:38.19\00:02:42.36 So, actually, in this lesson, we're combining two of my 00:02:42.39\00:02:45.33 favorite words: The "New Covenant Sanctuary." 00:02:45.36\00:02:48.00 Now, before we get into and talk about the "New Covenant 00:02:48.03\00:02:51.63 Sanctuary," we want to then talk a little bit about the aspect or 00:02:51.67\00:02:57.34 the sanctuary experience. 00:02:57.37\00:02:59.64 I think it will be a good introduction that will help us 00:02:59.67\00:03:01.81 and lead us into understanding exactly how the lesson is being 00:03:01.84\00:03:05.38 developed and what the lesson is trying to take us to do. 00:03:05.41\00:03:08.25 And so when you ask yourselves, "When was the first sanctuary 00:03:08.28\00:03:12.59 of God with humanity?" 00:03:12.62\00:03:14.96 "When was the first sanctuary of God with humanity?"-- 00:03:14.99\00:03:17.53 and we find that first sanctuary in the Garden of Eden, right? 00:03:17.56\00:03:21.63 "Sanctuary," "most holy place," what it meant is represented 00:03:21.66\00:03:25.20 is that we are in the presence of God. 00:03:25.23\00:03:27.17 And so we see in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve dwelled 00:03:27.20\00:03:31.74 in the presence of God. 00:03:31.77\00:03:33.74 Adam and Eve had face-to-face companionship with God. 00:03:33.78\00:03:37.51 They dwelt in that sanctuary experience with God. 00:03:37.55\00:03:42.25 And so the question is why? 00:03:42.28\00:03:44.15 How were they able to dwell in that sanctuary experience with 00:03:44.19\00:03:46.55 God, and how come we are not, right? 00:03:46.59\00:03:48.66 That's a great question. 00:03:48.69\00:03:50.03 Why can't we have that same experience? 00:03:50.06\00:03:52.76 Well, it's very simple because, in Genesis, it says in chapter 00:03:52.79\00:03:55.50 number 1, it says that, when God created Adam and Eve, He created 00:03:55.53\00:03:58.90 them in His image, according to His likeness, right? 00:03:58.93\00:04:02.64 Now, what does it mean that Adam and Eve were created 00:04:02.67\00:04:05.91 in the image of God? 00:04:05.94\00:04:08.18 What does that represent, and how will that help us understand 00:04:08.21\00:04:10.78 why we are not able to dwell in the presence of God 00:04:10.81\00:04:14.28 in this current moment? 00:04:14.32\00:04:16.48 Well, when we read here in the book "Great Controversy," 00:04:16.52\00:04:18.89 page 466-- 68, I'm sorry--it says, "In the beginning, 00:04:18.92\00:04:23.46 man was created in the image of God. 00:04:23.49\00:04:25.83 He was in perfect harmony with the nature and the law of God. 00:04:25.86\00:04:30.10 The principles of righteousness were written upon the heart." 00:04:30.13\00:04:34.47 So it says very clearly here that, when Adam and Eve were 00:04:34.50\00:04:37.34 created in the image of God, what it meant was--is that they 00:04:37.37\00:04:40.84 had the law of God written in their hearts. 00:04:40.88\00:04:44.11 In other words, they had the righteousness of God, right? 00:04:44.15\00:04:47.62 They had the character of God. 00:04:47.65\00:04:49.72 They had the image or the reflection of the character of 00:04:49.75\00:04:52.62 God and how God thought, His feelings, His desires, and they 00:04:52.65\00:04:56.76 were able to develop that character in perfect harmony 00:04:56.79\00:05:01.36 with God's will or with God's holy law. 00:05:01.40\00:05:05.03 They already had those principles written 00:05:05.07\00:05:07.20 in their heart, right? 00:05:07.24\00:05:08.94 But something happened. 00:05:08.97\00:05:10.94 Something broke that relationship, or something 00:05:10.97\00:05:14.58 impeded that humanity may continue to dwell in the 00:05:14.61\00:05:17.81 presence of God again, and what was that? 00:05:17.85\00:05:20.38 Well, the same quote continues to say, 00:05:20.42\00:05:22.48 "But sin alienated him from his maker. 00:05:22.52\00:05:25.89 He no longer reflected the divine image." 00:05:25.92\00:05:28.49 And now why was that? 00:05:28.52\00:05:30.66 Because "His heart was at war with the--" what? 00:05:30.69\00:05:33.43 "With the principles of God," and the principles of God 00:05:33.46\00:05:35.86 are--what? 00:05:35.90\00:05:37.40 His righteousness that are manifested through His law. 00:05:37.43\00:05:40.44 And so those principles of righteousness, 00:05:40.47\00:05:42.77 the image, the character of God 00:05:42.80\00:05:45.31 that were written in the hearts and the minds 00:05:45.34\00:05:47.34 of Adam and Eve, because of the transgression, because of 00:05:47.38\00:05:50.58 their disobedience, because of sin, now they were no longer had 00:05:50.61\00:05:55.05 a righteous nature, but now they had an unrighteous nature as 00:05:55.08\00:05:59.49 they had now fallen nature in that context. 00:05:59.52\00:06:02.86 And so we see then, that, because of this, because they 00:06:02.89\00:06:05.86 could not be in harmony any longer with the principles of 00:06:05.89\00:06:10.17 God's kingdom in harmony with the Word of God, with God's law, 00:06:10.20\00:06:15.14 then they could not be in the presence of God. 00:06:15.17\00:06:17.37 Now, why is that? 00:06:17.41\00:06:18.81 It's very simple: Because God's holiness would consume anything 00:06:18.84\00:06:22.88 that is unholy or unrighteous. 00:06:22.91\00:06:25.28 So there cannot be anything unrighteous in the pure sublime 00:06:25.31\00:06:28.78 presence of God. 00:06:28.82\00:06:30.72 And so God, out of love--right?--God then takes 00:06:30.75\00:06:34.26 them out of the most-holy-place experience, sanctuary 00:06:34.29\00:06:37.86 experience, in the Garden of Eden, for what reason? 00:06:37.89\00:06:41.13 Well, to protect them so that He doesn't destroy them, but also 00:06:41.16\00:06:44.93 because they had chosen--they had made the decision to say, 00:06:44.97\00:06:47.77 "No, you know, we got this, God," right? 00:06:47.80\00:06:50.14 They had the principles of the righteousness of God in their 00:06:50.17\00:06:53.04 heart, but now, all of a sudden, when they disobey God, 00:06:53.07\00:06:56.95 now they're thinking about themselves, right? 00:06:56.98\00:06:59.25 And that's what led to sin. 00:06:59.28\00:07:01.08 That's what led to rebellion, and they're saying, "No, God, 00:07:01.12\00:07:03.35 we don't need You to tell us what's right or wrong. 00:07:03.39\00:07:05.72 We can determine this on our own." 00:07:05.75\00:07:08.02 And so that's how then the human experience becomes contaminated 00:07:08.06\00:07:12.29 with selfishness, with what we know as sin, but despite God 00:07:12.33\00:07:20.04 ejecting them from the Garden of Eden, God did not 00:07:20.07\00:07:23.67 leave it there, right? 00:07:23.71\00:07:25.37 We see that God had from that moment in Genesis chapter 3, 00:07:25.41\00:07:29.24 as soon as Adam and Eve fell, God presented the everlasting 00:07:29.28\00:07:33.01 Gospel, the everlasting Gospel, the good, great news of--what? 00:07:33.05\00:07:37.82 Of the plan of salvation, that God was going to save humanity. 00:07:37.85\00:07:42.49 Now, what is the foundation? What is the pillar? 00:07:42.52\00:07:45.53 What is the basis of that everlasting Gospel? 00:07:45.56\00:07:49.16 Well, we sometimes think that the three angels' message is the 00:07:49.20\00:07:52.63 everlasting Gospel, and while they're definitely connected, 00:07:52.67\00:07:55.64 the three angels' message did not begin to be preached until 00:07:55.67\00:07:59.94 the year around the 1840s, 1844. 00:08:00.04\00:08:03.95 So what we see was, then, that the everlasting Gospel was 00:08:03.98\00:08:06.35 from all eternity. 00:08:06.38\00:08:08.18 From even before the Creation, God had already established His 00:08:08.22\00:08:11.75 plan, His Gospel, His covenant, with the Son, as it says in 00:08:11.79\00:08:16.16 Galatians chapter 3. 00:08:16.19\00:08:17.93 And so the question then is "What is this plan of salvation? 00:08:17.96\00:08:20.53 What is this Gospel that God is trying to reach the world 00:08:20.56\00:08:23.57 that He was presenting to Adam and Eve?" 00:08:23.60\00:08:25.97 And so we find it in Romans chapter 1, verse 16 and 17. 00:08:26.00\00:08:29.14 It says, "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, 00:08:29.17\00:08:31.41 for it is the power of God to--" what? 00:08:31.44\00:08:34.28 "To salvation for everyone who believes." 00:08:34.31\00:08:36.91 Now, "The Gospel of Christ is the power of God to do--" what? 00:08:36.95\00:08:40.22 "To save us." 00:08:40.25\00:08:41.65 To save us from--what? 00:08:41.68\00:08:43.22 To save us from sin, right? 00:08:43.25\00:08:44.55 But, of course, what does that condition? 00:08:44.59\00:08:46.89 You have to believe. 00:08:46.92\00:08:48.22 You have to accept it, right? 00:08:48.26\00:08:49.86 And so, when we accept God's plan of salvation, when we 00:08:49.89\00:08:52.66 accept His Gospel, His covenant, then what happens is we are 00:08:52.69\00:08:56.16 inserted into the covenant through faith in Jesus Christ. 00:08:56.20\00:09:00.54 And so that power, then, that Gospel saves us, but notice now, 00:09:00.57\00:09:05.41 what does that power represent? 00:09:05.44\00:09:07.31 What does this Gospel power--is? 00:09:07.34\00:09:10.18 Where is the essence of this Gospel power? 00:09:10.21\00:09:12.88 And so in a fascinating Hebrew parallelism, Paul says in verse 00:09:12.91\00:09:17.39 number 17, "For in it--" that means "in the Gospel," notice 00:09:17.42\00:09:22.29 this, "the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, 00:09:22.32\00:09:27.66 as it is written, 'The just shall live by faith.'" 00:09:27.73\00:09:31.13 So here, again, the principles of righteousness. 00:09:31.17\00:09:33.67 Notice that humanity has sinned. 00:09:33.70\00:09:36.40 Humanity has rebelled against God, and so God now, through 00:09:36.44\00:09:39.67 Christ, the Gospel of Christ, He reveals His power to save 00:09:39.71\00:09:44.71 everyone who accepts it, everyone who believes, and that 00:09:44.75\00:09:47.65 power is found--where? 00:09:47.68\00:09:49.48 Where is the essence of that power? 00:09:49.52\00:09:51.25 It is found in the righteousness of God. 00:09:51.29\00:09:53.72 Notice, the righteousness of God, which humanity had, which 00:09:53.76\00:09:56.83 we lost because of disobedience, because of sin, God, through the 00:09:56.86\00:10:01.33 Gospel, is offering us to restore that righteousness 00:10:01.36\00:10:04.23 again, to give us back His righteousness. 00:10:04.27\00:10:06.87 And it says that, that power, that Gospel, that righteousness 00:10:06.90\00:10:10.14 of God is revealed from faith to faith, and so that was perfectly 00:10:10.17\00:10:14.04 manifested through Jesus Christ. 00:10:14.08\00:10:16.41 It doesn't mean that throughout the rest of the Bible, 00:10:16.44\00:10:19.45 especially in what is known as the Hebrew writings or the Old 00:10:19.48\00:10:23.05 Testament, God revealed his righteousness, right? 00:10:23.08\00:10:26.29 His goodness. His character. 00:10:26.32\00:10:28.22 Adam and Eve fall. 00:10:28.26\00:10:29.96 Right there, God presents the plan of salvation, and we see 00:10:29.99\00:10:32.19 throughout all the Scriptures the righteousness 00:10:32.23\00:10:34.60 of God manifested. 00:10:34.63\00:10:36.10 The Gospel, the good news--right?--the covenant that 00:10:36.13\00:10:39.57 God the Father made with the Son to save humanity. 00:10:39.60\00:10:42.87 But then we see that, in Jesus Christ, that covenant, 00:10:42.90\00:10:45.41 that Gospel, that righteousness, is perfectly manifested, 00:10:45.44\00:10:48.68 perfectly represented in Jesus Christ, right? 00:10:48.71\00:10:51.88 So that means that the perfect righteousness of God 00:10:51.91\00:10:54.38 was manifested in the Son. 00:10:54.42\00:10:56.58 But when you read Romans chapter 1, verse 16 and 17, 00:10:56.62\00:10:59.39 not only does it say that, that righteousness was going to be 00:10:59.42\00:11:01.96 revealed in the Son, but it says, in the last part of verse 00:11:01.99\00:11:05.69 17, "The just shall live by faith," or in other words, 00:11:05.73\00:11:09.26 "The righteous shall live by faith." 00:11:09.30\00:11:12.07 So what it's saying here is that the Gospel, or the power of God 00:11:12.10\00:11:15.90 to save everyone, the righteousness of God is 00:11:15.94\00:11:19.57 manifested in faith. 00:11:19.61\00:11:20.94 The faith in Jesus Christ will also be manifested in us. 00:11:20.98\00:11:24.48 In other words, the Gospel is proclaiming that, through the 00:11:24.51\00:11:28.05 everlasting covenant, God is wanting to restore us back into 00:11:28.08\00:11:32.65 His presence, to bring us back into harmony with His Word, 00:11:32.69\00:11:36.19 with His law--how? 00:11:36.22\00:11:38.19 By writing the principles of righteousness, again, 00:11:38.23\00:11:41.83 in our hearts and in our mind, and this is 00:11:41.86\00:11:43.93 the everlasting covenant experience. 00:11:43.97\00:11:46.37 This is what the plan of salvation is about. 00:11:46.40\00:11:48.70 Look at how it talks about it in Job chapter 33, verse 26, 00:11:48.74\00:11:52.64 "For he shall pray to God, and He will delight in him. 00:11:52.67\00:11:56.24 He shall see His face with joy, for He restores to man--" what? 00:11:56.28\00:12:01.95 "His righteousness." 00:12:01.98\00:12:04.25 I say, "amen," to that. 00:12:04.29\00:12:05.95 It says very clearly that God wants to restore His 00:12:05.99\00:12:09.16 righteousness in us to manifest His righteousness 00:12:09.19\00:12:12.93 in the same way that it was manifested in Jesus Christ. 00:12:12.96\00:12:17.00 That same power, that same Gospel, that same righteousness, 00:12:17.03\00:12:21.27 that same faith that was revealed in the life of 00:12:21.30\00:12:24.67 Jesus Christ, the Father wants to reveal it in us, and that's 00:12:24.71\00:12:27.68 how we are to be restored back into the presence of God. 00:12:27.71\00:12:32.41 And so, when we look at this, then, we see that, in Genesis, 00:12:32.45\00:12:35.92 God, as soon as Adam and Eve fall, God presents the plan of 00:12:35.95\00:12:39.32 salvation through that promise that "Through that woman, a seed 00:12:39.35\00:12:42.72 was going to come," and that seed was going to do--what? 00:12:42.76\00:12:45.76 That seed was going to give humanity victory, right? 00:12:45.79\00:12:48.00 It was going to give humanity victory again because that seed 00:12:48.03\00:12:51.83 would be a descendant of the woman, a human being, 00:12:51.87\00:12:54.10 which is Christ, as it says in Galatians. 00:12:54.14\00:12:56.34 And so through that seed, we would also become victorious. 00:12:56.37\00:13:00.38 We would also be able to have victory over the enemy, 00:13:00.41\00:13:04.41 over temptation, and over sin, and the question is 00:13:04.45\00:13:05.98 "How is that going to happen?" 00:13:06.01\00:13:07.52 Well, in the same chapter in Genesis chapter 3, verse 21, it 00:13:07.55\00:13:12.12 says very clearly that--what? 00:13:12.15\00:13:13.56 That a Lamb was slayed, right? 00:13:13.59\00:13:15.46 There was a sacrifice in that moment. 00:13:15.49\00:13:17.33 The blood was shed, and the blood of that Lamb is 00:13:17.36\00:13:20.46 what gives us the power. 00:13:20.50\00:13:23.37 It's what gives us back the righteousness of God through 00:13:23.40\00:13:26.50 faith so that we can live a victorious life. 00:13:26.53\00:13:28.94 Let's go--let's look at this quickly at Hebrews chapter 19. 00:13:28.97\00:13:33.27 I want you to see this with me how the blood of the Lamb, 00:13:33.31\00:13:36.54 the blood of the sacrifice is the instrument, right? 00:13:36.58\00:13:41.08 It is the power of God to restore us back 00:13:41.12\00:13:43.75 into his presence. 00:13:43.79\00:13:45.52 So Hebrews chapter 13, verse 20, it says, "Now may the God of 00:13:45.55\00:13:48.96 peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great 00:13:48.99\00:13:53.46 Shepherd of the sheep," notice this, "through the blood of 00:13:53.50\00:13:57.17 the everlasting covenant--" what? 00:13:57.20\00:14:00.44 "Make you and me complete," or perfect "in every good work to 00:14:00.47\00:14:05.04 do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, 00:14:05.07\00:14:09.21 through Jesus Christ," amen? 00:14:09.24\00:14:11.31 So it is "through the blood," it says here, "of the everlasting 00:14:11.35\00:14:13.85 covenant of that seed that makes us--" what? 00:14:13.88\00:14:17.89 "That blood that makes us perfect, complete to do--" what? 00:14:17.92\00:14:21.86 "In every good work to do His will, working in you 00:14:21.89\00:14:25.03 what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ." 00:14:25.06\00:14:27.60 So notice, again, God is restoring us back into harmony 00:14:27.60\00:14:31.10 with Him, back into harmony with His law, in harmony 00:14:31.13\00:14:34.47 with His righteousness, right? 00:14:34.50\00:14:36.87 With His principles. How? 00:14:36.91\00:14:39.01 Through the blood that was sacrificed. 00:14:39.04\00:14:40.94 And through that, my loved ones, we see then that God is 00:14:40.98\00:14:44.11 going to do--what? 00:14:44.15\00:14:45.85 He is going to, once again, restore us back 00:14:45.88\00:14:47.92 into His presence. 00:14:47.95\00:14:49.45 That was the promise also in Genesis chapter 3. 00:14:49.48\00:14:51.35 We see these three main promises from the covenant. 00:14:51.39\00:14:53.92 The three main promises, God was going to forgive us of our sins, 00:14:53.96\00:14:56.93 God was going to give us victory over sin, and God was going to 00:14:56.96\00:14:59.89 eradicate and eliminate sin so that--what? 00:14:59.93\00:15:02.80 So that we may dwell in His presence again, right? 00:15:02.83\00:15:05.40 We may have the new heavens and the new earth, eternal life. 00:15:05.43\00:15:07.90 And, implicitly it doesn't say it, but explicitly it's talking 00:15:07.94\00:15:12.34 about the Resurrection too. 00:15:12.37\00:15:13.98 So all of these promises we find in the New Covenant, and they 00:15:14.01\00:15:16.48 were all broken down in Genesis chapter 3. 00:15:16.51\00:15:19.91 Now, what is that sanctuary experience that God 00:15:19.95\00:15:22.92 is wanting to do? 00:15:22.95\00:15:24.42 God is wanting to dwell in us, He wants to dwell with us, 00:15:24.45\00:15:28.16 He wants to dwell in us. Watch this. 00:15:28.19\00:15:31.13 Go with me to Ezekiel chapter 36. 00:15:31.16\00:15:33.66 Go with me to Ezekiel chapter 36, and we will see here this 00:15:33.70\00:15:37.30 New Covenant, this sanctuary experience that God is 00:15:37.33\00:15:41.90 wanting to have with each and every one of us. 00:15:41.94\00:15:44.91 Ezekiel chapter 36. 00:15:44.94\00:15:47.11 Let's go to verse number 25. 00:15:47.14\00:15:49.58 Watch this. 00:15:49.61\00:15:51.61 It says, "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, 00:15:51.65\00:15:54.55 and you shall be clean. 00:15:54.58\00:15:56.28 And I will cleanse you from all your filthiness 00:15:56.32\00:16:00.72 and from all your idols." 00:16:00.76\00:16:02.56 Notice, this is talking about cleansing us completely from 00:16:02.59\00:16:05.89 sin, from our unrighteousness, from our filthiness so that we 00:16:05.93\00:16:09.33 can live according to God's law. 00:16:09.36\00:16:11.20 Now, how is God going to do this? 00:16:11.23\00:16:13.44 Look at what he says in verse 26: "I will give you 00:16:13.47\00:16:17.97 a new heart and put a new spirit within you." 00:16:18.01\00:16:19.31 So, if He needs to give us a new heart and a new spirit, 00:16:19.34\00:16:21.24 that means a new attitude. 00:16:21.28\00:16:23.04 It's because our heart and our attitude is not 00:16:23.08\00:16:25.21 in the correct place. 00:16:25.25\00:16:26.82 God has to renew us. He's got to restore us. 00:16:26.85\00:16:28.95 And notice, "I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh 00:16:28.98\00:16:31.65 and give you a heart of flesh." 00:16:31.69\00:16:33.15 Why does He have to take the heart of stone out? 00:16:33.19\00:16:35.36 Because the heart no longer represents the principles or the 00:16:35.39\00:16:39.23 righteousness of God as we saw from that quote in 00:16:39.26\00:16:41.83 "Great Controversy," right? 00:16:41.86\00:16:43.33 The principles of righteousness were written in our heart 00:16:43.37\00:16:45.63 originally, but what happened is that, because of transgression, 00:16:45.67\00:16:48.97 because of rebellion, because of sin, those principles 00:16:49.00\00:16:51.57 are not present there anymore, right? 00:16:51.61\00:16:53.91 They're not part of our nature. 00:16:53.94\00:16:55.34 And so here it says God has to give us a new heart. 00:16:55.38\00:16:58.11 That means a new mind, a new attitude, new thoughts, 00:16:58.15\00:17:00.68 new feelings. 00:17:00.72\00:17:02.02 And how is he going to do this? 00:17:02.05\00:17:03.45 Verse number 27, "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you 00:17:03.49\00:17:07.89 to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments 00:17:07.92\00:17:11.23 and do them," amen? 00:17:11.26\00:17:12.93 Again, this is following what it says off of Hebrews chapter 13, 00:17:12.96\00:17:16.50 verse 20 and 21, that it's through the blood of the 00:17:16.53\00:17:19.07 everlasting covenant, which is this cleansing agent here in 00:17:19.10\00:17:21.94 verse 25, and it is through that experience, through seeing the 00:17:21.97\00:17:25.47 sacrifice, through seeing the great gift that God has given us 00:17:25.51\00:17:30.28 in His Son, Jesus Christ, that our hearts 00:17:30.31\00:17:32.78 are transformed, right? 00:17:32.81\00:17:34.62 Jesus says, "When I am lifted up, I shall draw all to Me." 00:17:34.65\00:17:37.55 When we see that, the human heart is brought 00:17:37.59\00:17:42.12 into enmity, right? 00:17:42.16\00:17:44.06 That enmity, which would be reconciliation, if we're at 00:17:44.09\00:17:46.59 enmity with God, then that means we're being reconciled--I'm 00:17:46.63\00:17:50.30 sorry--in enmity with the enemy, then we're being 00:17:50.33\00:17:52.37 reconciled to God. 00:17:52.40\00:17:53.70 And how is that entity brought in the human experience? 00:17:53.74\00:17:56.57 It's through looking at the cross, right? 00:17:56.60\00:17:58.54 It's through looking at Jesus Christ, the sacrifice. 00:17:58.57\00:18:01.24 And what happens with that is our heart starts to be renewed. 00:18:01.28\00:18:04.45 God puts His Spirit in us. 00:18:04.48\00:18:06.82 Notice, so that we can walk in His statutes 00:18:06.85\00:18:09.95 and judgments and do them. 00:18:09.98\00:18:11.49 Again, the obedience to compliance to God's law, 00:18:11.52\00:18:15.62 to living according to His Word, is the result of 00:18:15.66\00:18:19.09 the covenant, amen? 00:18:19.13\00:18:20.56 It's not the condition--right?--as it says 00:18:20.60\00:18:22.56 in Hebrews 13. 00:18:22.60\00:18:24.27 Some of us--I mentioned this in a previous lesson--obedience is 00:18:24.30\00:18:27.94 not the condition or the obligation of the covenant. 00:18:27.97\00:18:33.17 Obedience is the promise of the covenant. 00:18:33.21\00:18:36.44 It is the gift. 00:18:36.48\00:18:37.78 It is the blessing of the covenant that, through 00:18:37.81\00:18:39.91 Jesus Christ and the covenant that the Father made, we will be 00:18:39.95\00:18:42.35 restored into His presence, and we will be able to live 00:18:42.38\00:18:45.45 according to His Word, and that is the power of the work 00:18:45.49\00:18:47.79 of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, changing us, writing 00:18:47.82\00:18:50.39 His law in our hearts. 00:18:50.43\00:18:52.26 That is the New Covenant experience, and I say, "Amen." 00:18:52.29\00:18:55.83 Now, many believe that this New Covenant experience can 00:18:55.86\00:18:59.63 only happen in the New Testament after Jesus Christ, but that is 00:18:59.67\00:19:03.41 not the case because God says He wants to put His Spirit 00:19:03.44\00:19:06.31 within us. 00:19:06.34\00:19:07.81 Notice, we cannot dwell face-to-face right now because 00:19:07.84\00:19:10.48 of sin, so what God does is He says, "I will cleanse you 00:19:10.51\00:19:14.82 of your sins, and I will put My Spirit in you." 00:19:14.85\00:19:17.75 So God is already manifesting that He wants to have this 00:19:17.79\00:19:20.19 New Covenant experience with us. 00:19:20.22\00:19:22.09 He wants to dwell in us through His Spirit. 00:19:22.12\00:19:24.93 He wants to dwell in us and write His law in our minds 00:19:24.96\00:19:27.60 and in our hearts. 00:19:27.66\00:19:29.23 From the very beginning it was manifested, nothing has changed. 00:19:29.26\00:19:31.93 Look at Isaiah chapter 51, verse 6 and 7, "My salvation will be 00:19:31.97\00:19:35.47 forever, and My righteousness will not be abolished. 00:19:35.50\00:19:38.67 Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, you people 00:19:38.71\00:19:42.21 in whose heart is--" what? 00:19:42.24\00:19:44.71 Is my law." 00:19:44.75\00:19:46.21 Notice, God is already mentioning, from the time of 00:19:46.25\00:19:47.88 Isaiah, that there are many that are living according to the New 00:19:47.92\00:19:52.35 Covenant experience, to the everlasting covenant experience. 00:19:52.39\00:19:55.09 It's the same thing. 00:19:55.12\00:19:56.62 When you talk about the New Covenant, the everlasting 00:19:56.66\00:19:58.33 covenant, the covenant of Grace, the covenant of redemption, 00:19:58.36\00:20:01.76 it's talking about the same phrase. 00:20:01.80\00:20:04.47 It's just manifested in different manners--right?--in 00:20:04.50\00:20:08.90 that context, but it says very clearly here that God 00:20:08.94\00:20:13.14 wants--what? 00:20:13.17\00:20:14.74 He had--His people had His law in their hearts. 00:20:14.78\00:20:17.11 It also says it in Psalms chapter 37, verse 29 and 31, 00:20:17.15\00:20:20.65 "The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in forever. 00:20:20.68\00:20:23.99 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, 00:20:24.02\00:20:26.42 and his tongue talks of justice." 00:20:26.45\00:20:28.86 Notice, "The law of his God is in his heart. 00:20:28.89\00:20:34.13 None of his steps shall slide," amen? 00:20:34.20\00:20:36.73 Why is it that you shall slide?--making a reference 00:20:36.77\00:20:38.77 to sinning. 00:20:38.80\00:20:40.44 Because we are living in the New Covenant experience, 00:20:40.47\00:20:43.41 and that is God wants to manifest. 00:20:43.44\00:20:45.71 He wants that sanctuary experience, that New Covenant 00:20:45.74\00:20:48.71 experience, where the Spirit is dwelling inside of us. 00:20:48.74\00:20:51.75 That was from the very beginning. 00:20:51.78\00:20:53.21 It never changed. 00:20:53.25\00:20:54.75 And so we see that God did that with Adam, He did it with Seth, 00:20:54.78\00:20:58.82 He did it with the patriarchs. 00:20:58.85\00:21:01.02 We see then also Abraham showed up, and Abraham, right, 00:21:01.06\00:21:04.06 Abraham tried to live in the Old Covenant experience. 00:21:04.09\00:21:07.03 He tried to do things according to his flesh. 00:21:07.10\00:21:09.03 He tried to fulfill the promise of God, saying, "I'm going to 00:21:09.06\00:21:12.13 give you a son," and Abraham said, "Oh, God, 00:21:12.17\00:21:14.84 you need help, right?" 00:21:14.87\00:21:16.71 After 11 years, it wasn't happening, and so God--Abraham 00:21:16.74\00:21:19.97 tried to force God's hand and say, "I'm going to help 00:21:20.01\00:21:23.45 God fulfill His promise. 00:21:23.48\00:21:25.65 God doesn't need help fulfilling His promises. 00:21:25.68\00:21:27.65 When God says something, it's a promise, and when it's 00:21:27.68\00:21:30.39 a promise, God is putting all of His reputation, 00:21:30.42\00:21:34.09 all of His power, all of it behind that promise, 00:21:34.12\00:21:37.29 and it will be fulfilled. 00:21:37.33\00:21:39.59 But Abraham, of course, learning to live in the New Covenant 00:21:39.63\00:21:42.23 experience, he went back to the Old Covenant experience, 00:21:42.26\00:21:46.30 where it's by works, where it's human effort, right? 00:21:46.33\00:21:49.30 "I have to do X and Y to be able to fulfill God's requirements." 00:21:49.34\00:21:53.74 We see that that is not possible. 00:21:53.78\00:21:56.28 We don't have it. 00:21:56.31\00:21:58.01 That's why, in the New Covenant, in the everlasting covenant, God 00:21:58.05\00:22:00.42 is giving us, through the power of the Holy Spirit, 00:22:00.45\00:22:02.95 the ability, the power. 00:22:02.98\00:22:05.25 He is restoring His righteousness so that we can 00:22:05.29\00:22:07.62 live according to His words. 00:22:07.66\00:22:09.52 And so we see that as the sanctuary experience that God is 00:22:09.56\00:22:12.19 wanting to have, and Abraham learned. 00:22:12.23\00:22:14.66 Eventually he learned a lesson, and this happened with not only 00:22:14.73\00:22:17.30 Abraham, Noah, Isaac, Jacob, Israel, but something happened. 00:22:17.33\00:22:22.50 Eventually God's people--what? 00:22:22.54\00:22:25.24 They fell into slavery--right?--the story goes. 00:22:25.27\00:22:28.34 And when they fall into slavery, then we see that 400 years they 00:22:28.38\00:22:33.82 were in Egypt then. 00:22:33.85\00:22:36.05 Most of it was in--and this slavery under bondage, right? 00:22:36.08\00:22:40.32 But God heard them. 00:22:40.36\00:22:42.62 Go with me, please, to Exodus. 00:22:42.66\00:22:44.76 I want to show you something fascinating. 00:22:44.79\00:22:47.30 Exodus chapter 2. Watch this. 00:22:47.30\00:22:49.76 Exodus chapter 2, and let's go to verse number 23. 00:22:49.80\00:22:53.30 While they were slaves--now, why do you think they became slaves? 00:22:53.34\00:22:57.71 Let's think about this for a second. 00:22:57.74\00:22:59.34 Why do you think God's people became slaves? 00:22:59.37\00:23:01.81 Did God want them to be slaves? 00:23:01.84\00:23:03.75 Did God free us, create us to be slaves, a bondage on their sin? 00:23:03.78\00:23:08.42 Of course not. 00:23:08.45\00:23:10.29 Notice what it says in this quote in 00:23:10.32\00:23:12.29 "Patriarchs and Prophets." 00:23:12.32\00:23:14.26 It said, "If the descendants of Abraham had kept the covenant, 00:23:14.29\00:23:16.39 they would never have been seduced into idolatry, nor would 00:23:16.42\00:23:20.46 it have been necessary for them to suffer a life 00:23:20.50\00:23:23.90 of bondage in Egypt." 00:23:23.93\00:23:25.73 So why is it that they fell? 00:23:25.77\00:23:27.57 Because they stopped living the New Covenant experience. 00:23:27.60\00:23:31.04 They stopped depending on God. 00:23:31.07\00:23:32.77 They stopped depending on and leaning on God's promises, 00:23:32.81\00:23:36.64 on His law, right? 00:23:36.68\00:23:38.38 They started to do things in their own way, on their own 00:23:38.41\00:23:41.08 costs, and, of course, that led into bondage. 00:23:41.12\00:23:44.32 That was probably after Joseph died. 00:23:44.35\00:23:47.12 And so there's the slavery, but look at what it says in 00:23:47.16\00:23:49.86 Exodus chapter 2, verse 23 and 25. 00:23:49.89\00:23:54.86 This is just fascinating what God does here, and it says, 00:23:54.93\00:24:01.14 "Now it happened in the process of the time that 00:24:01.17\00:24:04.34 the king of Egypt died. 00:24:04.37\00:24:06.41 Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage," 00:24:06.44\00:24:09.14 or the slavery, "and they cried out, and their cry came up to 00:24:09.18\00:24:13.08 God because of the bondage." 00:24:13.11\00:24:14.85 So notice this: "So He heard their groaning, and God 00:24:14.88\00:24:18.45 remembered His--" what? 00:24:18.49\00:24:20.46 "His covenant--" now, which covenant do you think God is 00:24:20.49\00:24:23.66 remembering here? 00:24:23.69\00:24:25.16 Watch this. 00:24:25.19\00:24:26.66 "God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, 00:24:26.70\00:24:28.56 and with Jacob." 00:24:28.60\00:24:30.20 Now, what is that covenant? 00:24:30.23\00:24:31.93 The covenant is that God wants to dwell in us. 00:24:31.97\00:24:34.30 The covenant that God wants to put His Spirit in us. 00:24:34.34\00:24:36.77 The covenant is that God wants us to have that intimate 00:24:36.81\00:24:40.31 relationship with Him. 00:24:40.34\00:24:42.18 As it's mentioned, God says, "Nobody is going to have 00:24:42.21\00:24:44.85 to teach you who I am. 00:24:44.88\00:24:47.15 Nobody is going to have to teach you about Me because I am going 00:24:47.18\00:24:49.95 to know you personally. 00:24:49.98\00:24:51.65 That same relationship that I had with Adam, after the fall, 00:24:51.69\00:24:54.96 with Seth, with all the patriarchs, with Noah, 00:24:54.99\00:24:58.13 with Abraham, with Isaac, with Jacob, with Joseph." 00:24:58.16\00:25:02.26 God is saying, "I am going to have that covenant relationship 00:25:02.30\00:25:04.53 with you, where My Spirit is dwelling in me, and we know we 00:25:04.57\00:25:07.80 have a personal relationship," right? 00:25:07.84\00:25:10.44 But notice what it says here: "And God looked upon the 00:25:10.47\00:25:12.24 children of Israel, and God acknowledged them," amen? 00:25:12.27\00:25:15.78 So He remembered that covenant that He had made with Abraham, 00:25:15.81\00:25:19.58 with all of the previous patriarchs. 00:25:19.61\00:25:21.75 Now I have a question for you: What covenant was that? 00:25:21.78\00:25:24.89 Oh, it says it very clearly in Psalms chapter 105, 00:25:24.92\00:25:27.62 verses 8 through 10. 00:25:27.66\00:25:29.22 "He remembers His covenant forever, the word which He 00:25:29.26\00:25:32.09 commanded a thousand generations--" notice this-- 00:25:32.13\00:25:35.83 "the covenant which He made with Abraham, His oath to Isaac, 00:25:35.86\00:25:39.80 and confirmed to Jacob for a statute--" and notice this-- 00:25:39.83\00:25:43.37 "Israel--" that would be the 12 sons of Jacob-- 00:25:43.41\00:25:46.14 "as an everlasting covenant." 00:25:46.17\00:25:49.01 Again, God is trying to carry out--God is trying to tell 00:25:49.04\00:25:52.68 humans, "I want to have this everlasting covenant, 00:25:52.71\00:25:55.58 this New Covenant experience," which is--what? 00:25:55.62\00:25:59.09 God dwelling in humanity, God with us, the same covenant. 00:25:59.12\00:26:03.43 It says very clearly there that God had always presented God 00:26:03.46\00:26:07.56 wanted to do with Israel after He frees them. 00:26:07.60\00:26:10.10 Now, notice, God didn't tell them anything 00:26:10.13\00:26:12.30 about this covenant. 00:26:12.33\00:26:13.67 He just goes, and He saves them through Moses. 00:26:13.70\00:26:15.64 Says, "God, the God of your fathers, is wanting 00:26:15.67\00:26:17.47 to save you." 00:26:17.51\00:26:18.81 And after the miraculous liberation through--from Egypt, 00:26:18.84\00:26:22.91 with the nine plagues, with the destroying the Egyptian army, 00:26:22.94\00:26:25.98 crossing through the Red Sea, God takes them to the desert. 00:26:26.01\00:26:28.75 He gives them water. He gives them manna. 00:26:28.78\00:26:30.62 He provides everything, and then God says what to them 00:26:30.65\00:26:33.36 on Mount Sinai? 00:26:33.39\00:26:35.06 He says, "I'm the God of your Father Abraham, Jacob, 00:26:35.09\00:26:37.69 and Isaac. 00:26:37.73\00:26:39.33 I had an everlasting covenant with them. 00:26:39.36\00:26:42.03 I want to have that covenant with you. 00:26:42.06\00:26:44.70 I want to dwell in you." 00:26:44.73\00:26:47.07 God is telling Israel, "I want to be in your hearts. 00:26:47.10\00:26:50.41 I want to write My law on your hearts and your minds," 00:26:50.44\00:26:53.81 and what was their reaction? 00:26:53.84\00:26:55.44 "Oh, no, no, no, no." 00:26:55.48\00:26:57.35 It says, "They were terrified," in Exodus chapter 19, 00:26:57.38\00:27:00.62 and God reveals Himself. 00:27:00.65\00:27:03.39 Then He speaks the Ten Commandments, right? 00:27:03.42\00:27:06.25 And what do they say immediately after that? 00:27:06.29\00:27:08.09 "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. 00:27:08.12\00:27:10.29 We're too afraid. 00:27:10.33\00:27:12.03 We don't want this intimate relationship with You, God. 00:27:12.06\00:27:15.00 Moses, you be the mediator, Moses, and you intercede 00:27:15.03\00:27:19.53 on our behalf. 00:27:19.57\00:27:20.87 We'll stay over here on the sidelines, Moses, 00:27:20.90\00:27:23.14 and you do that." 00:27:23.17\00:27:24.77 They were rejecting God's New Covenant experience. 00:27:24.81\00:27:28.41 They were rejecting the everlasting covenant, 00:27:28.44\00:27:31.01 and what happens is they said, "We want to make our 00:27:31.05\00:27:33.35 own covenant," right? 00:27:33.38\00:27:35.05 God says, "Here's my covenant. 00:27:35.08\00:27:36.99 Here's what I want to do with you," and they're like, 00:27:37.02\00:27:38.72 "No, no, no, no, no, no, no. 00:27:38.75\00:27:40.46 We'll make our own covenant"-- right? 00:27:40.49\00:27:41.82 And their own covenant was--what? 00:27:41.86\00:27:43.39 "We shall obey." That's immediately the problem. 00:27:43.43\00:27:45.23 God never asked them for obedience. 00:27:45.26\00:27:46.70 God said to keep, God said to uphold His covenant, right? 00:27:46.73\00:27:50.50 In Exodus chapter 19, He says, "Cherish it. 00:27:50.53\00:27:53.17 Hold it dearly to your heart," but they said, "No, we shall 00:27:53.20\00:27:56.54 obey," and God says, "You can't obey." 00:27:56.57\00:27:59.17 And so God says, "All right." 00:27:59.21\00:28:00.68 So God--how does God react? 00:28:00.71\00:28:02.41 This is so fascinating how this all happens. 00:28:02.44\00:28:04.75 How does God react to the covenant rejection, 00:28:04.78\00:28:08.22 to the everlasting covenant? 00:28:08.25\00:28:09.75 He says, "Okay, if that's what you want to do, 00:28:09.78\00:28:11.49 this is what we'll do. 00:28:11.52\00:28:13.05 We'll go on your terms." 00:28:13.09\00:28:14.76 And so, instead of God writing His law on their hearts, 00:28:14.79\00:28:16.83 what happens? 00:28:16.86\00:28:18.39 He writes it on tablets of stone, not because He wanted to 00:28:18.43\00:28:20.30 write it on tablets of stone, but because--what? 00:28:20.33\00:28:23.06 Because they rejected Him. 00:28:23.10\00:28:25.77 They rejected having the law written in their hearts and in 00:28:25.80\00:28:28.10 their minds, and God said, "Okay, you don't want to be 00:28:28.14\00:28:30.67 a sanctuary for Me? 00:28:30.71\00:28:32.21 You don't want Me to dwell in your through my Spirit?" 00:28:32.24\00:28:34.51 That's perfect. 00:28:34.54\00:28:36.18 Look at how it says it very clearly here in the book 00:28:36.21\00:28:37.71 "Patriarchs and Prophets": "If the descendants of Abraham had 00:28:37.75\00:28:40.82 kept the covenant, they would have kept God's law--" where? 00:28:40.85\00:28:44.95 "In their mind." 00:28:44.99\00:28:46.29 This is the New Covenant experience. 00:28:46.32\00:28:47.89 This is the everlasting covenant, God writing His law on 00:28:47.92\00:28:49.69 our hearts and in our minds-- "and there would have been no 00:28:49.72\00:28:52.36 necessity for it to be proclaimed from Sinai or 00:28:52.39\00:28:54.83 engraved upon the tables of stone. 00:28:54.83\00:28:58.33 And had the people practiced the principles of the Ten 00:28:58.37\00:29:00.87 Commandments, there would have been no need of the additional 00:29:00.90\00:29:05.31 directions given to Moses." 00:29:05.34\00:29:08.21 Notice that everything that was given, Ten Commandments on 00:29:08.24\00:29:10.88 tables of stone, and the Mosaic Law, which had to do with the 00:29:10.91\00:29:15.98 ceremonies, the feasts, the offerings, the sacrifices, the 00:29:16.02\00:29:20.69 Feast Days, all of those things were not necessary if they would 00:29:20.72\00:29:25.56 have accepted that God wanted them to be a sanctuary, that God 00:29:25.59\00:29:29.60 wanted to dwell in him, as it said in Ezekiel chapter 36, that 00:29:29.63\00:29:33.27 He wants to put His Spirit in us. 00:29:33.30\00:29:35.60 If they would have accepted that, there would have been no 00:29:35.64\00:29:37.57 need for all the rest, and they would have continued, God with 00:29:37.61\00:29:40.04 them, living among them--inside of them--I'm sorry. 00:29:40.08\00:29:43.95 But they said, "No, Moses, we don't want this. 00:29:43.98\00:29:46.48 We need a mediator. 00:29:46.51\00:29:48.55 We need you to do it," and so Moses took on this step. 00:29:48.58\00:29:52.75 And so what happens, my loved ones, is--what is it? 00:29:52.79\00:29:55.66 They wanted the Old Covenant sanctuary experience, right? 00:29:55.69\00:30:00.16 And so God adapts to their request. 00:30:00.20\00:30:03.10 God says, "Okay, I'm going to show you that this is not going 00:30:03.13\00:30:05.07 to work," but the only way sometimes you learn is when you 00:30:05.10\00:30:08.50 do it on your own, when you realize that you're not 00:30:08.54\00:30:11.54 capable of doing it. 00:30:11.57\00:30:13.07 There's a phrase in Spanish that says-- [speaking Spanish] 00:30:13.11\00:30:17.05 That means that nobody learns through other people's mistakes. 00:30:17.08\00:30:21.22 We also have to commit our own mistakes. 00:30:21.25\00:30:23.25 And so God says, "Okay, go ahead. 00:30:23.28\00:30:24.95 This is what you want to do. 00:30:24.99\00:30:26.29 I'm going to show you how far you're going to get with this." 00:30:26.32\00:30:28.76 And so through this, then, them rejecting the everlasting 00:30:28.79\00:30:32.46 covenant and not wanting to be a sanctuary, God then says--what? 00:30:32.49\00:30:36.83 "I'm going to make a covenant"-- I'm sorry-- "I'm going to make 00:30:36.87\00:30:39.87 a sanctuary," right? 00:30:39.90\00:30:41.77 "Now, if I can't reveal My glory, if I can't reveal My 00:30:41.80\00:30:45.04 name, if I can't reveal My character, My righteousness, 00:30:45.07\00:30:48.21 through each and every one of us," which is what He wanted to 00:30:48.24\00:30:50.88 do, what does He say? 00:30:50.91\00:30:52.98 "Then I'll have to do it through some structure. 00:30:53.01\00:30:55.32 I'll have to do it through an earthly sanctuary," right. 00:30:55.35\00:30:58.92 And so that's effectively what God does. 00:30:58.95\00:31:01.09 God makes the earthly sanctuary as a response. 00:31:01.12\00:31:03.93 God is adapting to the people not wanting to have that 00:31:03.96\00:31:08.23 intimate relationship. 00:31:08.26\00:31:09.90 God makes an earthly sanctuary with the sacrifices, with the 00:31:09.93\00:31:12.70 feasts, with all of the elements that are explained, making or 00:31:12.73\00:31:17.81 representing the plan of salvation, right? 00:31:17.84\00:31:21.01 And this is what it says in Exodus chapter 25, verse 8, 00:31:21.04\00:31:23.68 and 26:30, "Let them make Me a sanctuary that I 00:31:23.71\00:31:26.31 may dwell among them." 00:31:26.35\00:31:28.22 Notice, God wanted to dwell in them, but they said, 00:31:28.25\00:31:31.42 "No, no, no, no, no," so God says, "All right, so let 00:31:31.45\00:31:33.86 Me dwell among you. 00:31:33.89\00:31:35.69 Let Me show you the blessings," right? 00:31:35.72\00:31:37.96 And God says, "Make Me a sanctuary." 00:31:37.99\00:31:40.03 And notice it says, "And you shall rise up the tabernacle 00:31:40.06\00:31:42.16 according to its pattern which was shown on the mountain." 00:31:42.20\00:31:44.73 So it was a manifestation or a representation of 00:31:44.77\00:31:48.30 the sanctuary in heaven. 00:31:48.34\00:31:50.41 God was trying the body, our temple, to be the sanctuary as 00:31:50.44\00:31:56.51 a representation of what was happening up in heaven, but 00:31:56.54\00:31:59.45 because of the rejection, God adapts again, as I mentioned, 00:31:59.48\00:32:02.08 and he creates the earthly sanctuary. 00:32:02.12\00:32:05.52 Now, when we walk through the earthly sanctuary, 00:32:05.55\00:32:08.59 we see then how every different aspect represents 00:32:08.62\00:32:13.93 the plan of salvation, right? 00:32:13.96\00:32:16.13 Remember, the Gospel is the plan of salvation, and the plan of 00:32:16.16\00:32:19.93 salvation is to reconcile humanity with Divinity, 00:32:19.97\00:32:23.91 to be at one with God again, the atonement, right? 00:32:23.94\00:32:27.94 To be able to dwell, to have that intimate relationship. 00:32:27.98\00:32:31.48 And so it is through the sanctuary that God 00:32:31.51\00:32:33.98 reveals that process. 00:32:34.02\00:32:36.22 He reveals and He explains or He details the process through 00:32:36.25\00:32:39.75 which we are going to be reconciled, and, of course, 00:32:39.79\00:32:41.69 that reconciliation has to do with the taking away 00:32:41.72\00:32:43.59 of sins, right? 00:32:43.63\00:32:45.19 Because it is sin that caused separation, so it must be then 00:32:45.23\00:32:48.63 through the sanctuary that it's explained how sin is going to be 00:32:48.66\00:32:53.44 separated from humanity, and we may dwell again 00:32:53.47\00:32:55.84 in the presence of God. 00:32:55.87\00:32:57.51 And so, in the sanctuary, we've studied this many, many times, 00:32:57.54\00:33:01.64 but it's always good to review in case there's somebody 00:33:01.68\00:33:03.58 new that is watching. 00:33:03.61\00:33:05.31 You have the lamb. 00:33:05.35\00:33:06.78 You would bring in a lamb that must be blameless, that must be 00:33:06.82\00:33:09.18 a perfect lamb, right? 00:33:09.22\00:33:10.75 There can be nothing wrong with it. 00:33:10.79\00:33:13.66 It cannot have one eye. 00:33:13.69\00:33:15.96 It cannot be a limp. 00:33:15.99\00:33:17.79 It has to be a perfect, clean lamb. 00:33:17.83\00:33:20.10 You have then the altar of sacrifice, where the lamb was 00:33:20.13\00:33:23.26 sacrificed and placed upon the altar. 00:33:23.30\00:33:25.80 We have the laver, where the priests would wash their hands 00:33:25.83\00:33:29.54 and their feet before they went inside of the sanctuary because 00:33:29.57\00:33:32.64 inside of the sanctuary was the presence of God, and so, again, 00:33:32.67\00:33:35.58 a representation of cleansing before we are able to walk 00:33:35.61\00:33:40.28 in the presence of God. 00:33:40.32\00:33:42.08 We have then the holy place, represented through 00:33:42.12\00:33:44.09 the showbread, the altar of incense, and the candlesticks. 00:33:44.12\00:33:47.82 These are all elements that God is representing principles of 00:33:47.86\00:33:51.99 how God is going to cleanse us so that we can dwell again in 00:33:52.03\00:33:55.20 His presence, and this all leads into the most holy place 00:33:55.23\00:33:59.07 experience, which is where God was present and God manifested 00:33:59.10\00:34:03.44 Himself, and we would dwell with Him, right? 00:34:03.47\00:34:06.84 But, of course, since Israel had rejected that New Covenant 00:34:06.88\00:34:11.85 experience, God then created the priesthood, the priesthood, 00:34:11.88\00:34:16.72 beginning with Moses as the intercessor but then we saw 00:34:16.75\00:34:19.95 through Aaron, right? 00:34:19.99\00:34:21.49 And so only the priest, especially the high priest, 00:34:21.52\00:34:23.83 would be the only one that would be able to be in the presence of 00:34:23.86\00:34:26.63 God as a representative of humanity in the face 00:34:26.66\00:34:30.53 of God, right? 00:34:30.57\00:34:32.27 And all of this, of course, is a representation of beautiful 00:34:32.30\00:34:35.27 principles that is being carried out in the heavenly sanctuary, 00:34:35.30\00:34:37.91 and there's the priesthood--right?--the 00:34:37.94\00:34:40.24 priesthood represented by Aaron in this context, but we also see 00:34:40.28\00:34:46.01 that that is the Old Covenant. 00:34:46.05\00:34:48.65 Now, again, this is not what God planned, but this is what the 00:34:48.68\00:34:51.45 people wanted, and so God adapted. 00:34:51.49\00:34:53.89 And despite when you go through the history of the Bible, after 00:34:53.92\00:34:57.03 Mount Sinai, when they established their own covenant, 00:34:57.06\00:35:00.70 which would be the Old Covenant, which would be the covenant 00:35:00.73\00:35:03.30 where it's human works, where it's our understanding, it's our 00:35:03.33\00:35:08.00 works--right?--it's we are carrying out God's covenant. 00:35:08.04\00:35:11.41 God says, "Okay, go ahead and try it. 00:35:11.44\00:35:13.58 That's not the covenant that I established," as we read in 00:35:13.61\00:35:15.74 Hebrews 13 and Ezekiel chapter 36. 00:35:15.78\00:35:18.01 God clearly says that "I am the one that produces in you the 00:35:18.05\00:35:22.28 good works and the desire to do them," right? 00:35:22.32\00:35:25.02 God is the one. 00:35:25.05\00:35:27.59 Remember, don't forget this, that the obedience, the 00:35:27.62\00:35:29.76 compliance to God's Word, God's law, is the gift of the covenant 00:35:29.79\00:35:34.83 through Jesus Christ, right? 00:35:34.86\00:35:36.63 And when we accept, when we receive it, when we believe it, 00:35:36.67\00:35:40.24 we are inserted into the covenant through 00:35:40.27\00:35:43.54 Jesus Christ and God. 00:35:43.57\00:35:45.17 Through that acceptance through that faith, gives us the power 00:35:45.21\00:35:48.21 of the Holy Spirit, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, 00:35:48.24\00:35:51.18 we are then able to obey in context of compliance with 00:35:51.21\00:35:58.82 God's Word, with His principles. 00:35:58.85\00:36:01.52 In this case, it would be His law because the Spirit is 00:36:01.56\00:36:04.19 writing His law in our hearts and in our minds. 00:36:04.23\00:36:08.70 And so this, then leads us to the aspect of the representation 00:36:08.73\00:36:13.17 or the manifestation of--what? 00:36:13.20\00:36:15.47 Of these principles, of this New Covenant principles, explained 00:36:15.50\00:36:20.54 in the Old Covenant, explained in the earthly sanctuary through 00:36:20.58\00:36:24.68 the services, through the sacrifices, through the 00:36:24.71\00:36:26.92 offerings, through the priests, through the feast, and through 00:36:26.95\00:36:30.45 every aspect and everything that was going on. 00:36:30.49\00:36:33.25 But then, Christ comes up, right? 00:36:33.29\00:36:35.69 And when Christ shows up, something very 00:36:35.72\00:36:37.63 interesting happens. 00:36:37.66\00:36:39.03 Now we're starting to see God going to say, "Through My Son, 00:36:39.06\00:36:43.00 I am going to show you what I wanted to do with you from the 00:36:43.03\00:36:47.27 very beginning--" right?-- "what I wanted to do with you, what I 00:36:47.30\00:36:50.51 was doing with Adam, what I was doing with Seth, what I was 00:36:50.54\00:36:53.78 doing with the patriarchs, what I was doing with Abraham, what I 00:36:53.81\00:36:56.44 was doing with Noah, what I was doing with every single one of 00:36:56.48\00:36:58.95 them that accepted, and there were many also that did live 00:36:58.98\00:37:02.18 the New Covenant experience. 00:37:02.22\00:37:04.09 Even after Sinai, we have Jacob and Joshua, right? 00:37:04.12\00:37:08.09 We have many, David, despite the many flaws of all his children, 00:37:08.12\00:37:12.29 they all had that personal relationship with God, that 00:37:12.33\00:37:16.26 one-in-one connection with God, but the majority of people were 00:37:16.30\00:37:19.67 content with the Old Covenant experience. 00:37:19.70\00:37:23.14 They were content with "No, no, no, no, no, God, 00:37:23.17\00:37:25.44 you stay over there. 00:37:25.47\00:37:26.94 We'll stay over here. We still want the blessings. 00:37:26.98\00:37:29.01 We still want the protections. 00:37:29.04\00:37:30.98 We still want the benefits from being Your people, but we don't 00:37:31.01\00:37:35.12 want You to have that Your law written in our hearts. 00:37:35.15\00:37:39.45 We just want them in tablets of stone," right? 00:37:39.49\00:37:41.82 "We want that old covenant experience," which was more 00:37:41.86\00:37:44.46 comfortable than having to do all of the sacrifices, 00:37:44.49\00:37:48.60 all of the surrendering, the constant surrendering. 00:37:48.63\00:37:51.03 They wanted to follow and live in their own ways. 00:37:51.07\00:37:53.20 And, again, God adapts to that, but when Christ comes along, 00:37:53.23\00:37:55.40 now, the Father says, "Now I want to show you something. 00:37:55.44\00:37:57.91 Now I want to show you what it is I wanted to do in you 00:37:57.94\00:38:01.21 and through you, and I'm going to manifest and show 00:38:01.24\00:38:03.85 this through--" who? 00:38:03.88\00:38:05.45 "Through My Son, Jesus Christ." 00:38:05.48\00:38:06.85 And so, as Jesus Christ comes on, the first thing that we see, 00:38:06.88\00:38:10.62 as Jesus Christ appears, is the Lamb, right? 00:38:10.65\00:38:14.29 That's what it says in John chapter 1, verse 29. 00:38:14.32\00:38:16.76 It says, "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and 00:38:16.79\00:38:20.53 said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away--" what? 00:38:20.56\00:38:23.20 "The sins of the world." 00:38:23.23\00:38:24.53 So the first thing that John says when he sees Jesus is 00:38:24.57\00:38:28.74 "This is the Lamb of God." 00:38:28.77\00:38:30.34 Again, that's sanctuary language, right? 00:38:30.37\00:38:32.87 That's sanctuary language, and effectively, 00:38:32.91\00:38:35.08 Jesus Christ did--what? 00:38:35.11\00:38:36.48 He died on the cross as the Lamb, but notice that, after 00:38:36.51\00:38:40.78 Jesus was called the Lamb of God, what is the next thing 00:38:40.82\00:38:43.52 Jesus does? 00:38:43.55\00:38:45.15 The next thing He does is He gets baptized, right? 00:38:45.19\00:38:47.89 That's a representation of--what? 00:38:47.92\00:38:49.82 Of the laver in this context, right? 00:38:49.86\00:38:51.96 Jesus goes to the laver, which also represents 00:38:51.99\00:38:53.76 the Resurrection. 00:38:53.80\00:38:55.10 Laver represents the water cleansing, and Jesus goes 00:38:55.13\00:38:56.73 through the laver. 00:38:56.77\00:38:58.27 Now, here's where it gets very interesting. 00:38:58.30\00:39:00.10 Because he's called the "Lamb of God," He gets baptized, and 00:39:00.14\00:39:04.01 then, when you follow in John chapter 1 and chapter 2, He goes 00:39:04.04\00:39:07.48 through the ceremony, the wedding ceremony, which is a 00:39:07.51\00:39:10.81 representation of Jesus saying, "I am making--I am here to 00:39:10.85\00:39:14.92 restore the New Covenant, the everlasting covenant with my 00:39:14.95\00:39:18.55 people, which is this marriage ceremony through--what? 00:39:18.59\00:39:22.19 Through the blood of the Lamb, represented by the wine. 00:39:22.22\00:39:25.19 Jesus is saying, "I am here to restore the New Covenant, the 00:39:25.23\00:39:29.06 everlasting covenant, with My people." 00:39:29.10\00:39:31.07 And it's--but right after that, Jesus does--what? 00:39:31.10\00:39:34.04 Jesus goes into the sanctuary, and what does He do 00:39:34.07\00:39:36.84 in the sanctuary? 00:39:36.87\00:39:38.41 In the sanctuary, He does--what? 00:39:38.44\00:39:40.98 He takes the works of the priest. 00:39:41.01\00:39:43.55 Why? 00:39:43.58\00:39:45.18 Well, because if you go through the Lamb of God, He goes through 00:39:45.21\00:39:46.95 the baptism. 00:39:46.98\00:39:48.38 Then the next step, if you follow the earthly sanctuary, is 00:39:48.42\00:39:50.55 to go into--what? 00:39:50.59\00:39:52.19 Into the heavenly sanctuary, right? 00:39:52.22\00:39:53.92 Or into the holy place if you're talking about 00:39:53.96\00:39:56.12 the earthly sanctuary. 00:39:56.16\00:39:57.76 So Jesus goes into the sanctuary, and He--What? 00:39:57.79\00:40:00.16 He starts to kick out all of the naysayers, all of the 00:40:00.20\00:40:04.17 corruption, all of the converting God's house into a 00:40:04.20\00:40:10.24 money business, right? 00:40:10.27\00:40:13.21 He starts to cleanse the sanctuary as He would, and He 00:40:13.24\00:40:16.08 kicks out--who? 00:40:16.11\00:40:17.41 He kicks out the Pharisees. He kicks them all out. 00:40:17.45\00:40:19.21 What is he saying? 00:40:19.25\00:40:20.72 "This priesthood, it does not work. 00:40:20.75\00:40:22.45 This priesthood is not any good anymore. 00:40:22.48\00:40:24.39 I am coming to show you what the real purpose of the priest is." 00:40:24.42\00:40:28.69 That's what He's basically saying. 00:40:28.72\00:40:30.56 He's saying, "This priesthood, look at what has happened. 00:40:30.59\00:40:32.79 They have corrupted the sanctuary," or "They have 00:40:32.83\00:40:35.00 corrupted the plan of salvation." 00:40:35.03\00:40:37.23 And Jesus says, "I'm going to show you how. 00:40:37.27\00:40:40.04 What is the real purpose of the priesthood? 00:40:40.07\00:40:42.57 And the real purpose of the priesthood is to guide God's 00:40:42.60\00:40:45.74 people to sanctity, to guide God's people in righteousness, 00:40:45.77\00:40:50.31 to guide God's people, into victory and cleansing from sin." 00:40:50.35\00:40:55.08 That's what He's trying to show them, and He's saying, 00:40:55.12\00:40:57.15 "This is what I'm doing." 00:40:57.19\00:40:58.62 And this is exactly why, in the book of Hebrews, 00:40:58.65\00:41:02.16 it talks to Jesus about this high priest, right? 00:41:02.19\00:41:05.53 Go with me, please, in the book of Hebrews, chapter 8, 00:41:05.56\00:41:08.66 Hebrews chapter 8, and I want to show you this. 00:41:08.70\00:41:11.70 This was in the lesson when it talks about Jesus as our high 00:41:11.73\00:41:16.40 priest, and I think this is very important to understand, 00:41:16.44\00:41:19.74 and we'll see exactly how this all plays out. 00:41:19.77\00:41:22.11 Hebrews chapter 8. 00:41:22.14\00:41:24.21 Look at what it says in verse number 1: "Now this is the main 00:41:24.25\00:41:27.35 point of the things we are saying: We have such a High 00:41:27.38\00:41:30.62 Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the 00:41:30.65\00:41:33.52 Majesty in the heavens, and Minister of--" what? 00:41:33.56\00:41:36.56 "Of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord 00:41:36.59\00:41:40.43 erected, and not man," right? 00:41:40.46\00:41:43.53 "For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts 00:41:43.57\00:41:46.30 and sacrifices." 00:41:46.33\00:41:47.64 This is earthly sanctuary, Old Covenant. 00:41:47.67\00:41:50.57 "Therefore it is necessary for this One," talking about Jesus, 00:41:50.61\00:41:54.28 "also having something to offer." 00:41:54.31\00:41:56.44 What is He offering? He's offering Himself. 00:41:56.48\00:41:59.11 He's not offering something else. 00:41:59.15\00:42:00.55 He's not offering an animal. 00:42:00.58\00:42:01.95 He's not offering something external to Him. 00:42:01.98\00:42:04.09 He's giving His own life as an offering for humanity. 00:42:04.12\00:42:07.82 "For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since 00:42:07.86\00:42:11.53 there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law, who 00:42:11.56\00:42:14.56 serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was 00:42:14.60\00:42:18.80 divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. 00:42:18.83\00:42:23.27 For He said, 'See that you make all things according 00:42:23.30\00:42:25.91 to the pattern that shown you--'" where? 00:42:25.94\00:42:28.28 "On the mountain." 00:42:28.31\00:42:30.65 And so Jesus Christ is clearly saying here, 00:42:30.68\00:42:32.05 "It is the manifestation." 00:42:32.08\00:42:33.68 I love it how Paul, in the book of Hebrews, is trying to explain 00:42:33.72\00:42:36.89 to the Hebrews, to Jews, to Israel, he's trying to explain 00:42:36.92\00:42:41.26 to them, using the earthly sanctuary, pointing to 00:42:41.29\00:42:44.33 Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of that sanctuary, right? 00:42:44.36\00:42:47.56 Because they continued in the Old Covenant experience 00:42:47.60\00:42:51.27 and the Old Covenant mind-set. 00:42:51.30\00:42:53.67 Verse 6, "But now He has obtained a more excellent 00:42:53.70\00:42:56.04 ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, 00:42:56.07\00:42:59.67 which was established on better promises." 00:42:59.71\00:43:01.94 Why? 00:43:01.98\00:43:03.31 Because this is not based on our promises which we 00:43:03.35\00:43:05.11 cannot fulfill. 00:43:05.15\00:43:07.05 It is not based on our works. 00:43:07.08\00:43:09.02 It is based on the promises of God that everything would be 00:43:09.05\00:43:11.62 fulfilled in Christ and through Christ. 00:43:11.65\00:43:14.39 That is the promise that Jesus Christ was going to be the one 00:43:14.42\00:43:17.19 that was going to bring reconciliation between humanity 00:43:17.23\00:43:20.53 and Divinity, and all we can do in this covenant is accept it by 00:43:20.56\00:43:24.00 faith to be inserted inside of it. 00:43:24.03\00:43:26.63 That is the main difference between the Old Covenant 00:43:26.67\00:43:29.50 and the New Covenant, right? 00:43:29.54\00:43:30.97 It's the New Covenant experience of saying, "God, I have 00:43:31.01\00:43:33.81 nothing to offer to you. 00:43:33.84\00:43:35.38 I have nothing to bear. 00:43:35.41\00:43:36.75 I cannot but in faith, holding on to your promises, 00:43:36.78\00:43:40.22 the promises of--" what? 00:43:40.25\00:43:41.98 "Of the seed of forgiveness, of victory, of Resurrection, of 00:43:42.02\00:43:46.05 reconciliation, of atonement, all of those promises, we accept 00:43:46.09\00:43:50.39 them through Jesus Christ, and we know that is only through 00:43:50.43\00:43:53.36 Him," and that is living by faith. 00:43:53.40\00:43:56.03 You accept it by faith, and then you live in those promises. 00:43:56.06\00:43:59.43 That is the New Covenant experience. 00:43:59.47\00:44:01.40 And sadly, today, we have many people that believe--they look 00:44:01.44\00:44:04.11 at the covenants from a historical perspective, which it 00:44:04.14\00:44:06.57 can be applied historically, but I prefer to look at the 00:44:06.61\00:44:09.81 covenants in the essence of an experience, right? 00:44:09.84\00:44:12.75 Because you can be what is perceived to be now in the New 00:44:12.78\00:44:15.78 Covenant time where Christ has come, but you can still be 00:44:15.82\00:44:19.69 living in the Old Covenant because you could still be 00:44:19.72\00:44:21.49 living according to your own ways, your own works, your own 00:44:21.52\00:44:23.93 wants, and not living by faith, but living according to your 00:44:23.96\00:44:27.83 heart, and that's not the New Covenant experience because it 00:44:27.86\00:44:30.77 says--God-- "I want to circumcise your heart. 00:44:30.80\00:44:33.17 I want to write My law in your hearts and your minds. 00:44:33.20\00:44:35.30 I want to make a new creature of you." 00:44:35.34\00:44:37.37 So many people, in the same way that there are many people in 00:44:37.41\00:44:40.64 what is known as the Old Covenant dispensation which, 00:44:40.68\00:44:44.15 again, is the historical interpretation of the covenants, 00:44:44.18\00:44:47.02 there were many that were in that Old Covenant timeframe, but 00:44:47.05\00:44:49.62 they live in the New Covenant promises and in the New 00:44:49.65\00:44:51.95 Covenant experience. 00:44:51.99\00:44:54.12 And vice versa, there are many now that are believed or 00:44:54.16\00:44:57.59 perceived to be living in the New Covenant dispensation which 00:44:57.63\00:45:00.83 are living in the Old Covenant. 00:45:00.86\00:45:03.20 And so, again, that's why I prefer--doesn't mean that it's 00:45:03.23\00:45:06.17 wrong to look at it from a historical dispensational 00:45:06.20\00:45:08.80 aspect, but I prefer to study it and grab a greater understanding 00:45:08.84\00:45:12.97 of the covenants and of the plan of salvation when I look at it 00:45:13.01\00:45:15.54 through this New Covenant experience. 00:45:15.58\00:45:17.71 Of course, everybody starts in the Old Covenant experience, 00:45:17.75\00:45:20.02 trying and trying and trying, and God has to teach us, as He 00:45:20.05\00:45:23.42 did with Abraham, how to live in the New Covenant, everlasting 00:45:23.45\00:45:27.46 covenant experience. 00:45:27.49\00:45:29.79 And so that's why it says very clearly, for example, here in 00:45:29.82\00:45:32.36 Hebrews chapter 4, I just want to read this one more verse with 00:45:32.39\00:45:34.93 you as we then close up. 00:45:34.96\00:45:38.20 Looking again at the sanctuary, Hebrews chapter 4, look at what 00:45:38.23\00:45:41.54 it says here. 00:45:41.57\00:45:43.37 Hebrews chapter 4, and it says in verse number 16--Hebrews 00:45:43.41\00:45:49.64 chapter 4:14, "Seeing that we have a great High Priest who has 00:45:49.68\00:45:53.58 passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us 00:45:53.62\00:45:55.78 hold fast our confession. 00:45:55.82\00:45:57.45 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our 00:45:57.49\00:46:00.12 weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet--" 00:46:00.16\00:46:03.56 what? 00:46:03.59\00:46:05.16 "Yet without sin. 00:46:05.19\00:46:06.66 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may 00:46:06.70\00:46:09.76 obtain mercy and find grace in time of need." 00:46:09.80\00:46:13.27 That same grace and that same mercy and that same patience and 00:46:13.30\00:46:16.87 that same love that God had for Adam, for Eve, for all of the 00:46:16.91\00:46:21.54 ones previously, it's that same manifestation now through--who? 00:46:21.58\00:46:25.08 Through Jesus Christ, amen? 00:46:25.11\00:46:26.55 And He is the one. 00:46:26.58\00:46:28.08 He can understand our weaknesses, our struggles, 00:46:28.12\00:46:29.88 our battles. 00:46:29.92\00:46:31.29 Why? 00:46:31.32\00:46:32.69 Because it says here, "He can sympathize as us because He was 00:46:32.72\00:46:36.29 tempted in all ways as we are," yet He never surrendered. 00:46:36.32\00:46:40.60 He never gave in to temptation or to sin, amen? 00:46:40.63\00:46:43.83 Now, as we look at this, I think that Jesus was also trying to 00:46:43.87\00:46:48.00 show us something else in this when He cleanses the sanctuary. 00:46:48.04\00:46:51.54 Not also was He trying to say--trying to point to Him as 00:46:51.57\00:46:55.14 the new Priest, the one that was going to be interceding, the one 00:46:55.18\00:46:58.91 that was going to be reconciling, making atonement 00:46:58.95\00:47:02.72 between God and His people, as He's showing the traditional 00:47:02.75\00:47:05.49 priests, the Old Covenant priesthood. 00:47:05.52\00:47:08.12 He's kicking them out, and He's saying, "Now the real Priest 00:47:08.16\00:47:10.76 has come. 00:47:10.79\00:47:12.43 The real Savior has come." 00:47:12.46\00:47:14.00 He's pointing to it, but He was also trying to point to 00:47:14.03\00:47:15.96 a new temple. 00:47:16.00\00:47:18.33 He was trying to point to something different, not just a 00:47:18.37\00:47:21.34 sanctuary as a structure--right?--but the 00:47:21.37\00:47:24.31 sanctuary as us, as the people. 00:47:24.34\00:47:27.04 Look at what it says here in the book "Desire of Ages." 00:47:27.08\00:47:30.01 It says, "The courts of the temple at Jerusalem, filled with 00:47:30.05\00:47:32.85 the tumult of unholy traffic, represented all too truly the 00:47:32.88\00:47:37.82 temple of the heart, defiled by the presence of sensual passions 00:47:37.85\00:47:41.49 and unholy thoughts. 00:47:41.52\00:47:43.09 In cleansing the temple from the world's buyers and sellers, 00:47:43.12\00:47:46.23 Jesus announced His mission to cleanse the heart from the 00:47:46.26\00:47:49.86 defilement of sin, from the earthly desires, the selfish 00:47:49.90\00:47:54.77 lust, the evil habits that corrupt the soul." 00:47:54.80\00:47:58.14 Notice that the sanctuary is pointing to us, right? 00:47:58.17\00:48:02.68 The sanctuary is pointing to us. Why us? 00:48:02.71\00:48:05.31 Again, that was the original experience that God was having. 00:48:05.35\00:48:08.62 After sin came in, God wanted to dwell in us to--what? 00:48:08.65\00:48:13.59 To cleanse us--right?--to prepare us to be able to dwell 00:48:13.62\00:48:17.09 in his presence again. 00:48:17.13\00:48:18.66 Notice how the quote continues: "No man can of himself cast out 00:48:18.69\00:48:22.53 the evil throng that have taken possession of the heart. 00:48:22.56\00:48:25.40 Only Christ can cleanse the soul temple. 00:48:25.43\00:48:27.90 His presence will cleanse and sanctify the soul, so that it 00:48:27.94\00:48:31.77 may be a holy temple unto the Lord--" and notice this-- "and 00:48:31.81\00:48:36.75 'an habitation of God through the Spirit.'" 00:48:36.78\00:48:41.05 That's Ephesians chapter 2, verse 21 and 22. 00:48:41.08\00:48:43.28 In other words, what she's saying is God is wanting, again, 00:48:43.32\00:48:47.02 to have that everlasting covenant experience, that New 00:48:47.06\00:48:51.13 Covenant experience of dwelling in us through His Spirit, for 00:48:51.16\00:48:54.20 what purpose or for what reason? 00:48:54.23\00:48:56.16 To cleanse us, right? 00:48:56.20\00:48:58.77 That is what God was showing us. 00:48:58.80\00:49:00.87 And when you read in there, in John chapter 2, Jesus says very 00:49:00.90\00:49:04.77 clearly, He says, "The sanctuary shall be lifted up 00:49:04.81\00:49:08.58 in three days." 00:49:08.61\00:49:10.11 And they say, "What are you--crazy? 00:49:10.15\00:49:12.18 It took us 46 years." 00:49:12.21\00:49:13.78 And Jesus says, "No, three days," right? 00:49:13.82\00:49:15.22 And what is He pointing to? 00:49:15.25\00:49:16.58 He's pointing to His body, right? 00:49:16.62\00:49:17.99 Yes, you have the heavenly sanctuary where He is 00:49:18.02\00:49:19.39 ministering as our high priest, but it's pointing to the 00:49:19.42\00:49:21.62 cleansing of this body also. 00:49:21.66\00:49:23.89 It's pointing to the cleansing of Jesus Christ wanting to do a 00:49:23.93\00:49:27.03 renewing of His righteousness, a renewing of His character. 00:49:27.03\00:49:30.60 Remember, at the beginning, we looked at that we were created, 00:49:30.63\00:49:34.54 Adam and Eve, with God's law in our heart, in our mind, right? 00:49:34.57\00:49:37.91 Those principles were there. 00:49:37.94\00:49:39.31 We were in harmony with Him, but what happens is that, 00:49:39.34\00:49:42.51 after we fall, we are no longer in harmony, and there's 00:49:42.54\00:49:43.95 a separation. 00:49:43.98\00:49:45.35 So, obviously, the New Covenant, the everlasting covenant, 00:49:45.38\00:49:48.68 is about reconciling us to God again. 00:49:48.72\00:49:51.05 How? 00:49:51.09\00:49:52.62 Because He writes His law in our hearts and in our minds again. 00:49:52.65\00:49:55.19 And so Jesus is pointing to not just the structure of the 00:49:55.22\00:49:57.93 sanctuary, but the person, the mind, the character, and wanting 00:49:57.96\00:50:02.80 to restore all that He is, all that He has. 00:50:02.83\00:50:05.73 So, when we look at the sanctuary, we see these 00:50:05.77\00:50:08.44 principles written in our hearts and in our minds. 00:50:08.47\00:50:11.21 We see that through Jesus Christ. 00:50:11.24\00:50:13.58 For example, when we look at the altar of sacrifice, it points to 00:50:13.61\00:50:18.05 Philippians 2:5 and 8: "Let this mind be in you which was also in 00:50:18.08\00:50:22.38 Christ, who being in very nature God, did not consider equality 00:50:22.42\00:50:24.92 with God something to be used to His own advantage, but on the 00:50:24.95\00:50:27.49 contrary," it says, what is that mind? 00:50:27.52\00:50:30.26 "He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a 00:50:30.29\00:50:32.99 servant, being made in human likeliness. 00:50:33.03\00:50:35.60 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by 00:50:35.63\00:50:38.97 becoming obedient to death, even death on the cross." 00:50:39.00\00:50:42.30 So it talks about His humility, His service, His obedience, 00:50:42.34\00:50:47.71 His surrender to the will of God. 00:50:47.74\00:50:49.18 That is the mind-set of the Son of God. 00:50:49.21\00:50:52.48 And as we walk through the sanctuary, we see Jesus Christ 00:50:52.51\00:50:55.35 in every aspect, showing us how to live in the New Covenant. 00:50:55.38\00:50:59.59 Every aspect, He's presenting to us how God is wanting to do the 00:50:59.62\00:51:05.19 same work that He did in Christ, He wants to do in us. 00:51:05.23\00:51:08.63 He wants to reveal His righteousness through 00:51:08.66\00:51:10.57 you and me. 00:51:10.60\00:51:12.07 How? 00:51:12.10\00:51:13.64 Through the New Covenant experience, Christ ministering 00:51:13.67\00:51:15.74 in the heavenly sanctuary to--what? 00:51:15.77\00:51:17.77 To cleanse the earthly sanctuary. 00:51:17.81\00:51:19.91 I want to finish with this quote. 00:51:19.94\00:51:21.91 This is a fascinating quote from the 1888 materials, chapter 12. 00:51:21.94\00:51:26.01 Look at what it says: "The human race is accepted in the Beloved. 00:51:26.05\00:51:29.78 His long human arms encircled the race, while with His divine 00:51:29.82\00:51:34.49 arm, He grasps the throne of the Infinite, and He opens 00:51:34.52\00:51:37.83 to man all of heaven. 00:51:37.86\00:51:40.16 The gates are ajar today," amen? 00:51:40.20\00:51:42.80 "Christ is in the heavenly sanctuary and your prayers can 00:51:42.83\00:51:46.00 go up to the Father. 00:51:46.03\00:51:48.07 Christ says, 'If I go away, I will send you the Comforter--'" 00:51:48.10\00:51:51.11 this is the New Covenant experience-- "and when we have 00:51:51.14\00:51:54.31 the Holy Spirit we have everything." 00:51:54.34\00:51:57.11 And look at how it closes: "Then we must enter by faith into the 00:51:57.15\00:52:01.15 sanctuary with Him," amen? 00:52:01.18\00:52:03.85 "We must commence the work in the sanctuary of our souls. 00:52:03.89\00:52:07.69 We are to cleanse ourselves from all defilement." 00:52:07.72\00:52:11.63 Woo-hoo, what a beautiful, beautiful promise. 00:52:11.66\00:52:14.56 Christ is ministering in the heavenly sanctuary to do--what? 00:52:14.56\00:52:17.77 To do the cleansing in this sanctuary in our minds and in 00:52:17.80\00:52:21.44 our thoughts to restore his character, and that's what it 00:52:21.47\00:52:24.07 says in Job's 33:26, "He shall pray to God, 00:52:24.11\00:52:29.38 and He will delight in Him. 00:52:29.41\00:52:31.21 He shall see His face with joy, for he restores to man 00:52:31.25\00:52:35.72 His righteousness," amen? 00:52:35.75\00:52:38.35 My loved ones, this is the New Covenant experience in 00:52:38.39\00:52:42.39 the New Covenant sanctuary. 00:52:42.42\00:52:44.33 It's not just looking at the old sanctuary, 00:52:44.36\00:52:46.49 "Yes, that's done away with." 00:52:46.53\00:52:47.86 We look at the heavenly sanctuary, and we see the 00:52:47.86\00:52:49.76 heavenly, and we see the New Covenant Christ ministering as 00:52:49.80\00:52:53.94 he does through all Book of Revelation, and you say, "Amen," 00:52:53.97\00:52:56.50 but what I want you to understand and keep the focus is 00:52:56.54\00:53:00.51 that the purpose of His ministering in the heavenly 00:53:00.54\00:53:03.11 sanctuary is to minister and to cleanse this sanctuary, to 00:53:03.14\00:53:06.48 cleanse us from all defilement, all selfishness, all 00:53:06.51\00:53:09.78 unrighteousness, to write His law in our hearts and in our 00:53:09.82\00:53:13.05 minds, to prepare us to be a temple to show the world His 00:53:13.09\00:53:18.03 glory, to show the world His name, to show the world who God 00:53:18.06\00:53:20.93 is, that God is a wonderful, merciful, loving God and that He 00:53:20.96\00:53:24.33 deserves--that's what He wants to use us for. 00:53:24.37\00:53:27.00 He wants us to be a sanctuary in the same way that the sanctuary 00:53:27.04\00:53:30.67 was in the desert, to show all of the pagan nations, 00:53:30.71\00:53:33.54 "Look at how God takes care of His people. 00:53:33.58\00:53:35.54 Look at how loving, how patient, how merciful He is." 00:53:35.58\00:53:38.35 That's what God wants you and me to be, a witness to the world of 00:53:38.38\00:53:42.15 how loving, how patient, how merciful, how great a God we 00:53:42.18\00:53:47.02 serve, and that can only happen if we surrender completely to 00:53:47.06\00:53:51.39 God and recognize that we have nothing and say, "God, I want 00:53:51.43\00:53:54.03 this New Covenant experience. 00:53:54.10\00:53:55.73 I want you to write Your law in my heart and in my mind, and I 00:53:55.76\00:53:58.47 want You to reflect Your glory through me. 00:53:58.50\00:54:00.80 That's why God has created you. 00:54:00.84\00:54:02.67 That's why He has created us, not to condemn us, but to reveal 00:54:02.70\00:54:05.71 His glory to the world, His name, His character, 00:54:05.74\00:54:09.44 His righteousness. 00:54:09.48\00:54:10.98 And I don't know about you, but I say I want to be 00:54:11.01\00:54:13.08 a sanctuary for God. 00:54:13.11\00:54:14.48 I want to be a New Covenant sanctuary where God's glory can 00:54:14.52\00:54:17.09 be revealed and manifested through me. 00:54:17.12\00:54:19.22 Let's have a word of prayer. 00:54:19.25\00:54:20.66 Father, we thank You for this opportunity to come together to 00:54:20.69\00:54:23.49 spend time in Your Word, and we just ask You, Father, that You 00:54:23.53\00:54:27.40 help us, Father, because sometimes we're in 00:54:27.46\00:54:29.43 this Old Covenant experience. 00:54:29.46\00:54:31.47 We're not aware of it. 00:54:31.50\00:54:32.83 We're trying and trying our best to try to do things so that we 00:54:32.87\00:54:36.44 can please You, not knowing that there is nothing that we can do, 00:54:36.47\00:54:39.51 that we are unrighteous. 00:54:39.54\00:54:41.04 There is nothing righteous in us, that the only way we can 00:54:41.08\00:54:43.55 live a pleasing life and live in Your holiness is through a 00:54:43.58\00:54:47.58 complete and total surrender to let Your Spirit do His work in 00:54:47.62\00:54:51.29 us and through us and write Your law in our hearts and in our 00:54:51.32\00:54:53.42 minds, those principles of righteous. 00:54:53.46\00:54:55.59 Help us, Father, every day, to have that consistent, constant, 00:54:55.62\00:54:58.76 total surrender so that Your will may be manifested through 00:54:58.79\00:55:02.03 us and many others may see Your glory through us and come and 00:55:02.06\00:55:05.30 want to know You too. 00:55:05.33\00:55:06.84 We thank You, Father for this opportunity, and we asked this 00:55:06.87\00:55:09.04 in Jesus's name, amen. 00:55:09.07\00:55:10.61 Thank you very much.
