00:02:23.87\00:02:28.14 special musical item that's going to be brought to us by 00:02:28.18\00:02:31.38 some young people. 00:02:31.41\00:02:32.71 It's entitled "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus." Father, how grateful we are to be able to gather in Your 00:05:18.45\00:05:21.28 house to worship You today on this beautiful Sabbath. 00:05:21.32\00:05:24.19 You've given us the blue skies, the warming weather, and, Lord, 00:05:24.22\00:05:27.32 we invite Your Holy Spirit to come and be present. 00:05:27.36\00:05:30.79 That the warmth of Your Spirit would fill our hearts and guide 00:05:30.83\00:05:34.73 our minds as we open up and look at the great promise, this 00:05:34.73\00:05:37.33 covenant, You have made with mankind and what our 00:05:37.37\00:05:40.27 responsibility is as part of that. 00:05:40.30\00:05:42.84 So, Father, we ask your blessing upon our time together. 00:05:42.87\00:05:44.71 Be with Pastor Doug as he opens up the Word. 00:05:44.74\00:05:46.88 And we ask this in Jesus's name. 00:05:46.91\00:05:48.51 Amen. 00:05:48.54\00:05:50.05 Our lesson this morning is going to be brought to us by Pastor 00:05:50.08\00:05:52.41 Doug Batchelor. 00:05:52.45\00:05:53.92 Doug Batchelor: Good morning. 00:05:54.52\00:05:55.82 We're continuing with our study in the new quarterly dealing 00:05:55.85\00:05:58.85 with the subject of the promise of God's everlasting covenant. 00:05:58.89\00:06:02.82 We're going to be looking at a number of the covenants that God 00:06:02.86\00:06:05.66 makes through His Word, and today we're on lesson number 3, 00:06:05.69\00:06:09.33 dealing with all future generations that are impacted by 00:06:09.36\00:06:13.67 these initial covenants that you're going 00:06:13.70\00:06:15.50 to find here in Genesis. 00:06:15.54\00:06:17.94 And we have a memory verse, and the memory verse is 00:06:17.97\00:06:21.01 from Genesis 6, verse 8. 00:06:21.04\00:06:23.24 If you have your Bibles, you might want to go there and look 00:06:23.28\00:06:25.15 with me. 00:06:25.18\00:06:26.41 Genesis 6, verse 8, and it says, together, "But Noah found grace 00:06:26.45\00:06:32.55 in the eyes of the Lord." 00:06:32.59\00:06:35.12 Sounds like a song, huh? 00:06:35.16\00:06:36.76 Some of you have heard that quartet song, "Noah found grace 00:06:36.79\00:06:39.73 in the eyes of the Lord," so we're going to be talking about 00:06:39.76\00:06:43.00 the covenant that God made with Noah and why that happened and 00:06:43.03\00:06:46.23 what happened in the world in those first generations. 00:06:46.27\00:06:49.80 And I'd like to start by encouraging you turn to the book 00:06:49.84\00:06:53.64 of Genesis. 00:06:53.68\00:06:54.98 Go to Genesis chapter 3, and we're going to talk a little bit 00:06:55.01\00:06:59.55 about why we need these covenants to save, and it's 00:06:59.58\00:07:03.18 because of section number 1 for Monday, "The Sin Principle," or, 00:07:03.22\00:07:08.02 actually, this is in Sunday's lesson. 00:07:08.06\00:07:10.39 The sin principle. 00:07:10.43\00:07:11.96 And you read in Genesis 3, verse 6, "So when the woman saw that 00:07:11.99\00:07:16.46 the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the 00:07:16.50\00:07:19.97 eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its 00:07:20.00\00:07:25.11 fruit and ate. 00:07:25.14\00:07:26.98 She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate." 00:07:27.01\00:07:30.45 Notice right away something you notice about sin. 00:07:30.48\00:07:33.98 Your decision to sin never affects you alone. 00:07:34.02\00:07:37.52 It always seems to involve others. 00:07:37.55\00:07:41.09 Sin always hurts God, sin hurts you, and sin hurts others. 00:07:41.12\00:07:45.66 It's basically the inverse of the great commandment, 00:07:45.69\00:07:48.76 "Love the Lord. 00:07:48.80\00:07:50.33 Love your neighbor as you love yourself." 00:07:50.37\00:07:52.93 Sin hurts the Lord, hurts your neighbor. 00:07:52.97\00:07:56.60 It hurts yourself. 00:07:56.64\00:07:57.94 People cannot sin and think, "Well, this is just between me, 00:07:57.97\00:08:00.14 myself, and I." 00:08:00.18\00:08:01.48 Whenever you sin it engages others, and no sooner had she 00:08:01.51\00:08:04.38 sinned than she wanted to commiserate with the experience 00:08:04.41\00:08:09.15 with her husband. 00:08:09.18\00:08:10.65 She gave it to him. 00:08:10.69\00:08:12.42 And all of us are witnesses one way or the other. 00:08:12.45\00:08:15.32 We're either witnessing for God or we're witnessing for the 00:08:15.36\00:08:17.73 devil, but you are going to be a witness one way or the other. 00:08:17.76\00:08:22.00 So, you can see right away through disobedience that God 00:08:22.03\00:08:25.30 promised--He said that "in the day that you eat thereof, you 00:08:25.33\00:08:28.14 will surely die." 00:08:28.17\00:08:29.47 Did Adam and Eve fall over and drop dead the day they 00:08:29.50\00:08:31.81 ate the forbidden fruit? 00:08:31.84\00:08:34.34 No. 00:08:34.38\00:08:35.68 Physically, you didn't see them fall over and die, but in the 00:08:35.71\00:08:40.08 original, when it says, "In the day that you eat thereof you 00:08:40.12\00:08:42.35 will die," it really says "in dying, you will die," or we 00:08:42.38\00:08:45.45 would say in English "you will begin to experience death." 00:08:45.49\00:08:50.23 And as soon as they sinned, I think that they died 00:08:50.26\00:08:54.03 spiritually, something happened. 00:08:54.10\00:08:55.86 See, up until the point when Adam and Eve sinned, God created 00:08:55.90\00:08:59.27 man in His own image, right? 00:08:59.30\00:09:02.34 If I was to define God in three words, 00:09:02.37\00:09:05.07 you could say God is love. 00:09:05.11\00:09:08.68 So, if man was made in His image, what was the motive in 00:09:08.71\00:09:11.28 man's heart? 00:09:11.31\00:09:13.48 Before sin, man was full of love. 00:09:13.52\00:09:17.39 After sin, the compass broke. 00:09:17.42\00:09:20.56 And instead of the needle pointing a way to others unto 00:09:20.59\00:09:23.63 God, the needle now pointed to self, and now the first thought 00:09:23.66\00:09:27.86 that everyone thinks is, "What's in it for me?" 00:09:27.86\00:09:29.70 WIIFM. 00:09:29.73\00:09:31.07 You've heard that expression before, WIIFM. 00:09:31.10\00:09:32.87 "What's in it for me?" 00:09:32.90\00:09:34.54 And man began to think selfishly. 00:09:34.57\00:09:37.11 Adam loved Eve, and Eve loved Adam, but after sin they start 00:09:37.14\00:09:40.31 to blame each other for everything. 00:09:40.34\00:09:43.45 So, man began to die spiritually. 00:09:43.48\00:09:46.95 Something was damaged, for lack of a better term, in our DNA, 00:09:46.98\00:09:51.85 and then that selfish nature was passed on to everybody else 00:09:51.89\00:09:57.13 following Adam and Eve. 00:09:57.16\00:09:58.99 And, you know, that's why we're all born 00:09:59.03\00:10:01.53 with these sinful tendencies. 00:10:01.56\00:10:05.03 And another way, that it says, "In the day that you eat 00:10:05.07\00:10:07.30 thereof, you will surely die." 00:10:07.34\00:10:08.97 You read in Psalms 90 and you read in 2 Peter chapter 3 a day 00:10:09.00\00:10:14.11 with the Lord is as what? 00:10:14.14\00:10:16.81 Thousand years. 00:10:16.85\00:10:18.55 How long did Adam live? 00:10:18.58\00:10:21.48 Nine hundred and thirty years. 00:10:21.52\00:10:23.59 How long did Eve live? 00:10:23.62\00:10:26.55 Bible doesn't say. 00:10:26.59\00:10:28.52 We don't know. 00:10:28.56\00:10:29.89 We believe that she died before Adam, but you look 00:10:29.92\00:10:32.93 at the early patriarchs. 00:10:32.96\00:10:34.30 Did any of them live beyond a thousand years? 00:10:34.30\00:10:38.33 Only Enoch, who went to heaven, but in their mortal bodies none 00:10:38.37\00:10:42.00 of them lived in that first millennial day--"In the day you 00:10:42.04\00:10:46.61 eat thereof you will surely die," so that whole first 00:10:46.64\00:10:48.94 generation, they all died before 00:10:48.98\00:10:51.18 that first thousand years went by. 00:10:51.21\00:10:52.78 So, it was literally fulfilled, and they literally began to 00:10:52.81\00:10:55.78 experience death. 00:10:55.82\00:10:58.19 Their light went out. 00:10:58.22\00:11:00.26 They suddenly became painfully aware of their nakedness. 00:11:00.29\00:11:03.32 You go to Genesis 3, verse 10, and it says, "So he said, 'I 00:11:03.36\00:11:08.83 heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was 00:11:08.86\00:11:12.90 naked; and I hid myself.'" 00:11:12.93\00:11:16.87 Now, were Adam and Eve streaking 00:11:16.91\00:11:19.87 around the garden in the beginning oblivious to their 00:11:19.91\00:11:23.35 nudity, and then after they eat the forbidden fruit suddenly 00:11:23.38\00:11:27.12 they became more perceptive? 00:11:27.15\00:11:30.49 Well, what happened when Jesus was 00:11:30.52\00:11:34.36 on the mountain talking to God? 00:11:34.39\00:11:35.86 What happened to His clothing? 00:11:35.89\00:11:38.23 Began to glow. 00:11:38.26\00:11:40.33 When Moses was up on the mountain talking with God, what 00:11:40.36\00:11:42.73 happened to his face? 00:11:42.76\00:11:45.17 It was shining so much he had to veil his face. 00:11:45.20\00:11:48.10 When man was in Holy Communion with God, he had these robes of 00:11:48.14\00:11:51.97 righteousness, He would glow. 00:11:52.01\00:11:54.14 But when they sinned what happened to their glowing robes? 00:11:54.18\00:11:58.61 The light went out and all of a sudden they became painfully 00:11:58.65\00:12:02.42 aware of a cool breeze, and they felt this need. 00:12:02.45\00:12:08.92 They had this kind of natural idea to cover themselves, and 00:12:08.96\00:12:13.70 they felt shame. 00:12:13.73\00:12:15.00 So, what else does sin do? 00:12:15.03\00:12:16.56 We learned sin spreads. 00:12:16.60\00:12:19.77 Sin causes shame. 00:12:19.80\00:12:21.34 Go back to that sin spreads. 00:12:21.37\00:12:23.07 You know, in the introduction to your lesson it talks about how a 00:12:23.10\00:12:26.78 bacterium--once a single solitary bacterium is introduced 00:12:26.81\00:12:30.78 into a favorable host, it can multiply to the point where 00:12:30.81\00:12:34.52 there's about 42 million in 24 hours. 00:12:34.55\00:12:37.52 Going from 1 to 42 million in 24 hours. 00:12:37.55\00:12:41.86 We've seen how a virus never -- 00:12:41.89\00:12:45.33 They're trying to back study and figure out where 00:12:45.36\00:12:48.80 the coronavirus first originated. 00:12:48.83\00:12:50.67 I'm not going to get into any of the conspiracies and, yeah, you 00:12:50.70\00:12:53.87 know, I'm not trying to blame anybody. 00:12:53.90\00:12:55.80 I'm just saying they know that it originated somewhere, but, 00:12:55.84\00:12:58.71 boy, look at how it spread. 00:12:58.74\00:13:01.28 And the immunologists and people who specialize in the 00:13:01.31\00:13:04.25 transmission of disease, they said, "We'll stop all the 00:13:04.28\00:13:07.62 airplanes and everything." 00:13:07.65\00:13:08.95 And they said, "You can't stop it." 00:13:08.98\00:13:10.52 They said, "It is going to spread, 00:13:10.55\00:13:12.29 and it is going to go global." 00:13:12.32\00:13:13.62 And you watched in those first few months. 00:13:13.66\00:13:15.36 They said, "Well, it's gone here, and it's gone there, and 00:13:15.39\00:13:17.43 it's gone there, and it's gone there." 00:13:17.46\00:13:18.76 We thought, well, maybe South America will be safe. 00:13:18.79\00:13:20.53 Maybe Africa. 00:13:20.56\00:13:21.83 Maybe India. 00:13:21.86\00:13:23.16 And I think there's a couple of islands in the Pacific that 00:13:23.20\00:13:25.60 still don't have any cases, but you basically have 00:13:25.63\00:13:28.07 to live on an island. 00:13:28.10\00:13:30.04 But it just choo. 00:13:30.07\00:13:31.57 It spread. 00:13:31.61\00:13:32.91 That's what sin does. 00:13:32.94\00:13:34.24 Why can't we go and visit other unfallen worlds? 00:13:34.28\00:13:41.42 Because sin is contagious, and this world is infected. 00:13:41.45\00:13:45.85 And you might say that, you know, we've got this disease 00:13:45.89\00:13:51.46 that is contagious and God has quarantined our planet. 00:13:51.49\00:13:55.66 After we are cleansed from sin, will we be able to soar 00:13:55.70\00:13:58.13 to worlds unknown? 00:13:58.17\00:14:00.20 Sure. 00:14:00.24\00:14:01.80 Right now, we can't see God and the angels face to face. 00:14:01.84\00:14:04.07 That just the very glory of it would destroy us, but after sin 00:14:04.11\00:14:07.91 is dealt with that will be resolved. 00:14:07.94\00:14:11.28 So, sin spreads. 00:14:11.31\00:14:12.61 We see sin causes shame. 00:14:12.65\00:14:14.55 Now, you go to Genesis 3, verse 11, and I'll read verse 13. 00:14:14.58\00:14:19.42 "And God said, 'Who told you, you were naked? 00:14:19.45\00:14:22.46 Have you--'" now, did God ever ask a question because He 00:14:22.49\00:14:24.96 doesn't know? 00:14:24.99\00:14:27.10 Does God know all things? 00:14:27.13\00:14:28.93 Yeah. 00:14:28.96\00:14:30.27 So, when God said to Adam, "Where are you?" 00:14:30.30\00:14:31.87 was that for God because God really was wanting Adam to say, 00:14:31.90\00:14:36.07 you know, "Olly, olly, all come free. 00:14:36.10\00:14:38.37 Here I am"? 00:14:38.41\00:14:40.01 Or does God know everything? 00:14:40.04\00:14:42.68 So, when He said, "What have you done?" 00:14:42.71\00:14:44.28 did God know? 00:14:44.31\00:14:45.61 He's running out of it to think about, 00:14:45.65\00:14:46.98 "Where am I now that I've sinned? 00:14:47.02\00:14:48.68 Where has it brought me?" 00:14:48.72\00:14:50.12 Sometimes, you need to evaluate, "What has this done to me?" 00:14:50.15\00:14:54.92 And why did you do it? 00:14:54.96\00:14:56.46 What did you do? 00:14:56.49\00:14:57.79 Why did you do it? 00:14:57.83\00:14:59.13 So, God is asking these questions. 00:14:59.16\00:15:02.06 Jesus asked questions. 00:15:02.10\00:15:03.67 He asked the disciples, "What were you 00:15:03.70\00:15:05.93 arguing about on the road?" 00:15:05.97\00:15:08.07 Did He know what they were arguing about? 00:15:08.10\00:15:10.77 He asked blind Bartimaeus, "What do you want Me to do for you?" 00:15:10.81\00:15:13.98 He knew what he wanted Him to do, but He said, 00:15:14.01\00:15:15.81 "I want you to ask." 00:15:15.84\00:15:17.08 Does God know what things you have need of before you pray? 00:15:17.11\00:15:20.98 So, why pray? 00:15:21.02\00:15:23.55 He wants you to ask. 00:15:23.59\00:15:27.19 "Who told you, you were naked? 00:15:27.22\00:15:29.16 Have you eaten the tree that I commanded you, 00:15:29.19\00:15:31.16 you should not eat?" 00:15:31.19\00:15:32.99 And the man says, "The woman who You gave me--" 00:15:33.03\00:15:37.20 "I was having a beautiful nap. 00:15:37.23\00:15:38.67 I woke up and all of a sudden I'm married, God. 00:15:38.70\00:15:40.40 It's all Your fault. 00:15:40.44\00:15:42.10 You didn't ask. 00:15:42.14\00:15:43.44 You opened up my side and You took out a wife, and now look at 00:15:43.47\00:15:46.41 all the trouble she's caused. 00:15:46.44\00:15:47.74 Well, it's her fault, and it's Your fault." 00:15:47.78\00:15:50.81 Notice how blame comes into it. 00:15:50.85\00:15:53.35 You got shame, and you got blame. 00:15:53.38\00:15:57.09 "'The woman that You gave me to be with me, she gave me of the 00:15:57.12\00:15:59.89 tree, and I ate.' 00:15:59.92\00:16:01.49 And the Lord God said to the woman, 'What is 00:16:01.52\00:16:03.16 this you have done?'" 00:16:03.19\00:16:04.49 Again, another rhetorical question. 00:16:04.53\00:16:05.83 He knows. 00:16:05.86\00:16:07.13 "The woman said, 'Lord, who made the serpent? 00:16:07.20\00:16:10.77 Whoever made the serpent, it's the serpent that beguiled me." 00:16:10.80\00:16:13.64 So, what's she doing? 00:16:13.67\00:16:15.90 Adam blames God, and he blames the woman. 00:16:15.94\00:16:18.51 The woman blames God and blames the serpent. 00:16:18.54\00:16:21.61 And then, God turns to the serpent and suddenly he doesn't 00:16:21.64\00:16:23.91 have a leg to stand on. 00:16:23.95\00:16:26.31 That's a joke. 00:16:26.35\00:16:27.65 I can't resist. I'm sorry. 00:16:27.68\00:16:30.69 Serpent then gets cursed, says--and he, of course, 00:16:30.72\00:16:32.85 serpent, you know, he just was possessed by the devil. 00:16:32.89\00:16:37.06 So then, you see sin causes blame. 00:16:37.09\00:16:39.33 Genesis 4, verse 5, and it says--and this is now the 00:16:39.36\00:16:44.63 conflict between Cain and Abel. 00:16:44.67\00:16:46.47 You see it also goes off into their family and their 00:16:46.50\00:16:49.14 posterity, and said, "He did not respect Cain and his offering. 00:16:49.17\00:16:54.71 And Cain was angry, and his countenance fell." 00:16:54.74\00:16:57.68 His pride was offended, and he became angry at his brother. 00:16:57.71\00:17:02.38 Now, the story that you see here at the beginning with Cain and 00:17:02.42\00:17:04.79 Abel plays itself out to the end of time. 00:17:04.82\00:17:07.92 You've got two brothers, one who is truly surrendered to God, 00:17:07.96\00:17:12.19 and one who is not. 00:17:12.23\00:17:13.96 One who wants to do it his own way, one who wants to do it 00:17:14.00\00:17:16.67 God's way. 00:17:16.70\00:17:18.80 The one who is worshiping the way God prescribes is persecuted 00:17:18.83\00:17:23.34 by the one who's manufacturing his own worship. 00:17:23.37\00:17:27.64 And when God shows approval to Abel, 00:17:27.68\00:17:29.98 Cain wants to kill his brother. 00:17:30.01\00:17:32.45 You get to the end of time, and you have the same situation. 00:17:32.48\00:17:34.85 There's two groups. 00:17:34.88\00:17:36.18 They both claim to worship God. 00:17:36.22\00:17:38.39 One worships the true way, one worships the false way. 00:17:38.42\00:17:41.42 The beast power is compelling everyone 00:17:41.46\00:17:43.19 to worship the way he says. 00:17:43.22\00:17:44.53 If you don't, you'll be killed. 00:17:44.56\00:17:46.70 And they both claim to worship the same God. 00:17:46.73\00:17:49.53 That's what a lot of people don't understand. 00:17:49.56\00:17:51.63 They think in the last days the beast power is going to be some 00:17:51.67\00:17:54.07 green-horned monster, and everyone's going to be 00:17:54.10\00:17:56.54 encouraged to worship the devil. 00:17:56.57\00:17:58.44 They'll think they are serving God. 00:17:58.47\00:18:00.24 Jesus said in John 16, "Those who kill you will think they're 00:18:00.28\00:18:03.51 offering God service," just like Paul thought that he was serving 00:18:03.55\00:18:07.58 God when he was killing Christians. 00:18:07.62\00:18:10.82 And so, because of his anger and his pride he--his brother tried 00:18:10.85\00:18:17.33 to reason with him, and he rose up, and he slew his brother. 00:18:17.36\00:18:21.60 He became filled with the devil. 00:18:21.63\00:18:24.50 And, by the way, when you lose your temper, that's typically 00:18:24.53\00:18:26.74 what's behind it, is you've surrendered to demons 00:18:26.77\00:18:29.67 that control your behavior. 00:18:29.70\00:18:32.41 "The serpent deceived me, and I ate." 00:18:32.44\00:18:34.71 Then, Cain says he was--his countenance fell. 00:18:34.74\00:18:39.41 And you go to Genesis 4:19. 00:18:39.45\00:18:42.05 Then, of course, Cain takes his sister. 00:18:42.08\00:18:44.92 Says he took his wife. 00:18:44.95\00:18:46.25 No doubt took one of his sisters, and I know everyone 00:18:46.29\00:18:49.42 thinks that's really odd, but keep in mind that Adam and Eve 00:18:49.46\00:18:52.69 were technically sister and brother. 00:18:52.73\00:18:54.36 I mean, God made them both, and before there were any defects in 00:18:54.40\00:19:01.30 the genetics there was nothing wrong with 00:19:01.34\00:19:03.44 a person marrying his direct sister. 00:19:03.47\00:19:07.71 I'm sure that's what Seth did and all the other patriarchs, 00:19:07.74\00:19:10.85 and then they started marrying cousins. 00:19:10.88\00:19:13.25 Yeah, first cousins. 00:19:13.28\00:19:15.82 Jacob married a first cousin. 00:19:15.85\00:19:18.29 Isn't that right? 00:19:18.32\00:19:19.62 Isaac married a first cousin, and so it was 00:19:19.65\00:19:22.49 not considered a sin. 00:19:22.52\00:19:23.83 It wasn't until the time of Moses that He--you know, God 00:19:23.86\00:19:26.49 instructed him this could cause genetic problems. 00:19:26.53\00:19:29.23 "Do not marry close to the family tree." 00:19:29.26\00:19:32.53 And I think there are even some states in North America where 00:19:32.57\00:19:35.54 you are allowed to marry your cousin. 00:19:35.57\00:19:37.11 There are different laws, have different states about this. 00:19:37.14\00:19:41.04 But so, he took his wife, and he went off, and he began to build 00:19:41.08\00:19:45.61 in a city and populated it. 00:19:45.65\00:19:47.98 And then, you read in Genesis 4:19 one of the descendants of 00:19:48.02\00:19:51.45 Cain, Lamech, he took for himself two wives. 00:19:51.49\00:19:57.29 The name of one was Adah, the name of the second was Zillah, 00:19:57.33\00:20:01.63 and so now you have bigamy, technically, and that it ends up 00:20:01.66\00:20:06.23 going on into polygamy, many wives. 00:20:06.27\00:20:11.44 And then, you have ignomy that comes after that. 00:20:11.47\00:20:16.71 All this, and it says you know what happened? 00:20:16.75\00:20:19.55 It says then Lamech killed a man, but maybe because there was 00:20:19.58\00:20:23.59 a fight over a woman. 00:20:23.62\00:20:25.49 And so, you now see that there is the violence, polygamy, 00:20:25.52\00:20:30.06 selfishness, Genesis 6, and this is where you really 00:20:30.09\00:20:36.13 see the tables turning. 00:20:36.16\00:20:37.47 Genesis 6, chapter 1. 00:20:37.50\00:20:39.53 I'm sorry. 00:20:39.57\00:20:40.87 Genesis 6, verse 1, "And it came to pass, when men began to 00:20:40.90\00:20:43.94 multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born 00:20:43.97\00:20:46.71 to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that 00:20:46.74\00:20:50.98 they were fair; and they took them wives of all they chose." 00:20:51.01\00:20:57.75 Now, you know, some of you probably have a Bible right 00:20:57.79\00:21:01.46 here, some of you sitting here today. 00:21:01.49\00:21:03.86 And depending on what your translation is, some of those 00:21:03.89\00:21:05.93 Bibles, if you've got, like, a Good News Bible or something, it 00:21:05.96\00:21:09.40 will say that these fallen angels married 00:21:09.43\00:21:12.37 the daughters of men. 00:21:12.40\00:21:14.77 And it makes it seem like angels, demons intermarried with 00:21:14.80\00:21:21.01 humans and were able to procreate. 00:21:21.04\00:21:23.18 That is totally ludicrous and unbiblical. 00:21:23.21\00:21:26.11 Angels do not marry even other angels. 00:21:26.15\00:21:29.12 Angels are not wired that way. 00:21:29.15\00:21:30.72 The Bible says they are ministering spirits. 00:21:30.75\00:21:32.92 They are not flesh and blood. 00:21:32.95\00:21:34.36 They do not procreate. 00:21:34.39\00:21:36.46 Angels do not have babies. 00:21:36.49\00:21:38.03 They do not nurse babies. 00:21:38.06\00:21:39.36 Jesus said they neither marry nor are they given in marriage. 00:21:39.39\00:21:42.36 Angels are not born. 00:21:42.40\00:21:43.70 They are created. 00:21:43.73\00:21:45.03 Every one of them is an original, and so this whole 00:21:45.07\00:21:49.97 idea--and I've just have heard pastors preach about it. 00:21:50.01\00:21:52.64 One reason that God destroyed the world is because you had 00:21:52.67\00:21:55.54 these half-human half-demons running around the world. 00:21:55.58\00:21:58.25 No, no, no. 00:21:58.28\00:21:59.58 It's not what it's talking about. 00:21:59.61\00:22:02.58 You've got two groups. 00:22:02.62\00:22:04.55 After Cain killed Abel, God gave Adam and Eve another son. 00:22:04.59\00:22:09.29 His name was Seth, and he was born in the image of his father, 00:22:09.32\00:22:14.00 and he loved the Lord, and he worshiped the Lord. 00:22:14.00\00:22:15.70 And he and his posterity, they were the godly line. 00:22:15.73\00:22:18.37 They were called the sons of God. 00:22:18.40\00:22:20.80 You can read in 1 John chapter 1, verse 3, "Behold what manner 00:22:20.84\00:22:25.44 of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should 00:22:25.47\00:22:28.31 be called sons of God!" 00:22:28.34\00:22:30.31 We are adopted into the family of God. 00:22:30.35\00:22:33.21 "As many as received Him, to them He gave power to become 00:22:33.25\00:22:35.92 sons of God," and so the Bible is really clear. 00:22:35.95\00:22:38.72 And even in the Old Testament Isaiah says we will be sons and 00:22:38.75\00:22:41.39 daughters of God. 00:22:41.42\00:22:43.09 Seth and his posterity were the sons of God. 00:22:43.12\00:22:45.36 Now, I need to say this in fairness. 00:22:45.39\00:22:46.96 There are a couple of places that it talks about the sons of 00:22:47.00\00:22:49.26 God shouted for joy, and it's talking about unfallen angels 00:22:49.30\00:22:52.07 when the world was created. 00:22:52.10\00:22:54.20 But here in Genesis it's talking about the--in the classical 00:22:54.24\00:22:57.71 sense, it's talking about the believers, and it says they saw 00:22:57.74\00:23:00.84 the daughters of men. 00:23:00.88\00:23:02.91 See, Cain and his family didn't have eternal life. 00:23:02.94\00:23:06.45 The word there is--I think it's "enos," and it means mortal man. 00:23:06.48\00:23:09.65 They're dying, and they were supposed to maintain separation. 00:23:09.68\00:23:15.32 You know, the Bible says, 00:23:15.36\00:23:16.66 "Do not be unequally yoked together." 00:23:16.69\00:23:18.59 And when the sons of Gods said--you know, they had to 00:23:18.63\00:23:20.96 every now and then go to the valley, and they would get 00:23:21.00\00:23:22.60 involved in trade with the children of Cain. 00:23:22.63\00:23:25.33 And this may be hundreds of years after creation, you know? 00:23:25.37\00:23:29.24 People multiplied very quickly. 00:23:29.27\00:23:30.67 They lived a long time. 00:23:30.71\00:23:32.01 Adam and Eve were probably bearing children for nearly 200 00:23:32.04\00:23:34.44 years, or longer. 00:23:34.48\00:23:36.41 We don't know. 00:23:36.44\00:23:37.95 And so, they had enormous families. 00:23:37.98\00:23:41.15 I heard there's one Orthodox family, Jewish family, in 00:23:41.18\00:23:47.29 Israel, and there's one--the father is dead now, but the one 00:23:47.32\00:23:50.83 grandmother has 900 living descendants. 00:23:50.86\00:23:56.50 They all had, like, big, big families, because in their 00:23:56.53\00:24:00.77 faith, you know, they believe be fruitful and multiply. 00:24:00.80\00:24:03.17 And they did. 00:24:03.20\00:24:04.51 They got married very young. 00:24:04.54\00:24:05.87 Can you imagine that? 00:24:05.91\00:24:07.14 And that's in our time, so can you imagine how quickly humans 00:24:07.18\00:24:11.38 populated in the days of Adam and Eve? 00:24:11.41\00:24:17.12 And so, the sons of God, the children of Seth saw the 00:24:17.15\00:24:20.32 daughters of Cain, that they were fair, and they said, "Oh, 00:24:20.36\00:24:25.36 well, let's get married," kind of like Samson said, "I'd like a 00:24:25.39\00:24:28.30 Philistine wife." 00:24:28.33\00:24:29.63 And his parents said, "No, no. 00:24:29.66\00:24:31.77 You need to marry a Jewish girl, you know, even if she's from 00:24:31.80\00:24:35.37 another tribe." 00:24:35.40\00:24:37.57 And Samson said, "Oh, but she pleases me well. 00:24:37.61\00:24:40.11 Get her for me," and they gave into the complaining 00:24:40.14\00:24:43.18 of their son. 00:24:43.21\00:24:44.81 And he married a Philistine, and it ended badly, didn't it? 00:24:44.85\00:24:48.65 Do you know when you read in the Bible one of the most glorious 00:24:48.68\00:24:51.42 time was the time of Solomon, when the Queen of Sheba came? 00:24:51.45\00:24:54.79 And everything was gold, and God's people were godly. 00:24:54.82\00:24:57.03 They built the temple and--but then it says Solomon loved many 00:24:57.06\00:25:01.63 foreign women and made marriages with them. 00:25:01.66\00:25:05.03 And spiritually, right after that statement, 00:25:05.07\00:25:07.17 the kingdom goes down. 00:25:07.20\00:25:09.44 When we begin to compromise our faith with the world, it ends up 00:25:09.47\00:25:15.24 spreading that disease of sin. 00:25:15.28\00:25:17.15 And after that happened you can read where God says in verse 3, 00:25:17.18\00:25:21.85 "My Spirit will not always strive with man, for he is 00:25:21.88\00:25:24.92 indeed flesh; yet his days will be one hundred 00:25:24.95\00:25:27.69 and twenty years." 00:25:27.72\00:25:29.02 That's why it says that God then goes to Noah. 00:25:29.06\00:25:31.63 Noah builds the ark 120 years. 00:25:31.66\00:25:33.96 He preaches 120 years. 00:25:34.00\00:25:35.26 That's where that time period comes. 00:25:35.30\00:25:37.23 By the way, don't ever forget God says, "My Spirit will not 00:25:37.27\00:25:40.10 always strive with man." 00:25:40.14\00:25:42.04 Every person in their life, there's a period of time God's 00:25:42.07\00:25:44.97 Spirit will strive with you. 00:25:45.01\00:25:47.08 He wants to save you. 00:25:47.11\00:25:48.74 If we continue to put off and resist the Spirit of God, the 00:25:48.78\00:25:52.38 volume goes down. 00:25:52.41\00:25:54.25 It's very dangerous. 00:25:54.28\00:25:55.58 You can get to the point where you grieve away the Holy Spirit. 00:25:55.62\00:25:58.32 And God is extremely patient and compassionate, but you don't 00:25:58.35\00:26:01.79 ever want to temper with His mercy. 00:26:01.82\00:26:04.53 Don't ever presume on His mercy. 00:26:04.56\00:26:06.43 His Spirit will not always strive. 00:26:06.46\00:26:09.26 Sometimes, He will give us up to our choices. 00:26:09.30\00:26:13.54 And then, it goes on to say--oh, by the way, some of you are 00:26:13.57\00:26:15.97 going to ask in verse 4, "If the children of Seth married the 00:26:16.00\00:26:19.94 children of Cain and they were just humans, then why does it 00:26:19.97\00:26:22.91 say in verse 4 there were giants on the earth in those days? 00:26:22.94\00:26:26.45 And also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the 00:26:26.48\00:26:29.12 daughters of men, they bore children to them. 00:26:29.15\00:26:31.52 They were mighty men who were of old, men of renown." 00:26:31.55\00:26:34.12 They say, "Well, if they're just human, why are they giants? 00:26:34.16\00:26:36.62 Why are they men of renown?" 00:26:36.66\00:26:38.69 That is a very simple principle called genetic vitality. 00:26:38.73\00:26:42.00 Do you know if you cross a lion with a tiger, 00:26:42.03\00:26:44.67 you know what you get? 00:26:44.70\00:26:46.27 A liger. 00:26:46.30\00:26:47.97 Do you know that it will be bigger than a lion or a tiger? 00:26:48.00\00:26:52.01 It's called genetic vitality. 00:26:52.04\00:26:53.84 If you cross a zebra and a donkey, 00:26:53.88\00:26:56.08 do you know what you get? 00:26:56.11\00:26:58.08 A zonkey. 00:26:58.11\00:27:00.52 It's true, and it will be bigger than a donkey. 00:27:00.55\00:27:05.12 If you cross--and you know you can cross a donkey and a horse, 00:27:05.15\00:27:08.09 and you get a mule. 00:27:08.12\00:27:10.46 And you can cross a dolphin and a whale, and you get a wholphin. 00:27:10.49\00:27:15.70 They've done it. 00:27:15.73\00:27:17.03 This is true, and there are certain people--that in America 00:27:17.07\00:27:20.40 you've got a lot of examples of what they call genetic vitality, 00:27:20.44\00:27:23.30 because people that have, kind of, married within particular 00:27:23.34\00:27:25.21 races and then come to America, and there's more commingling 00:27:25.24\00:27:28.11 here from different parts of the world. 00:27:28.14\00:27:30.18 And people end up getting taller. 00:27:30.21\00:27:32.58 I remember my father saying--you know, my father was my height, 00:27:32.61\00:27:35.68 and he said, "When I was a man," said, "and I was in the 00:27:35.72\00:27:37.95 Service," he says, "I was considered tall." 00:27:37.99\00:27:40.92 He said, "Then all these kids came along eating nuclear 00:27:40.96\00:27:43.19 cereal, and I don't know what happened." 00:27:43.22\00:27:44.79 He said, "They all got bigger." 00:27:44.83\00:27:50.20 Three out of our four boys taller than me. 00:27:50.23\00:27:53.27 One's the same size, and so just genetic vitality. 00:27:53.30\00:27:56.14 That's all that's saying. 00:27:56.17\00:27:57.47 They weren't aliens. 00:27:57.51\00:27:59.77 They weren't half-demon. 00:27:59.81\00:28:02.68 Anyway, and so it says then, "Afterward, after the sons of 00:28:02.71\00:28:08.18 God came in to the daughters of men," verse 5, "the Lord saw 00:28:08.22\00:28:11.82 that wickedness of man was great in the earth." 00:28:11.85\00:28:14.12 You know what happens after the intermarriage? 00:28:14.16\00:28:16.16 They lose their distinctness. 00:28:16.19\00:28:19.16 Now, the balance for a Christian is you want to be holy--the 00:28:19.19\00:28:22.36 Bible says come out and be separate. 00:28:22.40\00:28:24.07 He wants us to maintain our holiness, but don't be so 00:28:24.10\00:28:26.43 separate you can't be a witness. 00:28:26.47\00:28:28.57 We must be in the world as witnesses without 00:28:28.60\00:28:31.57 the world being in us. 00:28:31.61\00:28:32.91 And if you're parents, boy, it's really delicate to know how to 00:28:32.94\00:28:36.01 raise your children in an environment where they're 00:28:36.04\00:28:39.35 shielded from a lot of the evil in the world, but you also need 00:28:39.38\00:28:41.98 to prepare them spiritually because they're going to get hit 00:28:42.02\00:28:44.99 with it someday. 00:28:45.02\00:28:46.45 They'll be out in it, and you need to know how to help them 00:28:46.49\00:28:49.12 fortify their own faith. 00:28:49.16\00:28:50.66 But there's a lot of ways you should try to insulate them and 00:28:50.69\00:28:54.10 maintain that holiness and beat it into your kids--I don't mean 00:28:54.13\00:28:57.70 that literally--when they're young. 00:28:57.73\00:29:01.50 "You're going to marry a Christian, and you're going to 00:29:01.54\00:29:04.31 go to Christian school." 00:29:04.34\00:29:05.81 You want to prepare them to know that "you know, this is 00:29:05.84\00:29:09.48 something--this is God's plan." 00:29:09.51\00:29:11.61 If they start thinking, "Oh, you know, I'll marry them, and I'll 00:29:11.65\00:29:14.05 convert them later," that's where all the trouble comes in. 00:29:14.08\00:29:17.89 All right, so they began to compromise, so sin 00:29:17.92\00:29:19.89 brings in--sin spreads. 00:29:19.92\00:29:22.46 It brings shame. 00:29:22.49\00:29:23.79 It brings blame, pride, anger, polygamy, compromise, and 00:29:23.83\00:29:27.96 ultimately corruption. 00:29:27.96\00:29:29.46 God says man is violent, corruption filled the world, and 00:29:29.50\00:29:33.30 now He must destroy it. 00:29:33.34\00:29:35.17 All right, we'll get on to the next section here. 00:29:35.20\00:29:37.34 Says "the man Noah," but Genesis chapter 6, verse 8, "Noah found 00:29:37.37\00:29:44.85 grace in the eyes of the Lord." 00:29:44.88\00:29:47.42 Here, it introduces this hero. 00:29:47.45\00:29:49.95 "This is the genealogy of Noah. 00:29:49.98\00:29:52.09 Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. 00:29:52.12\00:29:55.89 Noah walked with God. 00:29:55.92\00:29:58.09 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth." 00:29:58.13\00:30:01.30 Now, it never really tells us what years those sons were born, 00:30:01.33\00:30:05.67 but I don't think they were triplets. 00:30:05.70\00:30:08.57 And Shem was probably the oldest. 00:30:08.60\00:30:10.61 Now, here's a question for you. 00:30:10.64\00:30:13.71 Did Noah--notice it says he was blameless. 00:30:13.74\00:30:17.81 He walked with God. 00:30:17.85\00:30:19.15 He was righteous. 00:30:19.18\00:30:21.02 Was Noah righteous, blameless, and walking with God because he 00:30:21.05\00:30:23.75 found grace, or did Noah find grace because he was blameless, 00:30:23.79\00:30:28.29 righteous, and walking with God? 00:30:28.32\00:30:33.80 It's a very--that's--this is a deep theological question. 00:30:33.83\00:30:37.53 It tells us that Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations, 00:30:37.57\00:30:40.50 walked with God. 00:30:40.54\00:30:41.84 He found grace in the Lord. 00:30:41.87\00:30:44.24 Did he find grace because God said, "Here's somebody that 00:30:44.27\00:30:47.14 trusts me," or did God suddenly give this person grace to be all 00:30:47.18\00:30:51.25 those good things and then that's why he did it? 00:30:51.28\00:30:55.65 I'll suggest to you that God's Spirit moved on Noah's heart 00:30:55.68\00:31:01.02 like everybody. 00:31:01.06\00:31:02.36 Didn't we just read, "My Spirit will strive with man"? 00:31:02.39\00:31:04.96 Noah responded to the striving of God's Spirit. 00:31:04.99\00:31:08.46 He chose to walk with God. 00:31:08.50\00:31:10.30 He chose to commune with God. 00:31:10.33\00:31:11.80 He chose to do what was just and walk meekly and humbly with his 00:31:11.83\00:31:15.57 God, and so God said, "Here's someone who is responding to me. 00:31:15.60\00:31:19.71 I'm going to extend further grace to him, that through him 00:31:19.74\00:31:23.51 the whole world will be saved and repopulated." 00:31:23.55\00:31:27.02 And so, it's, sort of, a mix. 00:31:27.05\00:31:28.68 It's like what comes first, the chicken or the egg? 00:31:28.72\00:31:30.55 I think Noah responded to the goodness of God and the Spirit 00:31:30.59\00:31:33.25 of God, and because he responded he found grace above the others 00:31:33.29\00:31:36.83 around him. 00:31:36.86\00:31:38.16 He was willing to obey. 00:31:38.19\00:31:39.49 God needed someone who was willing to obey to fulfill these 00:31:39.53\00:31:41.93 very important requirements of building a boat on dry land in a 00:31:41.96\00:31:45.90 wicked, violent world. 00:31:45.93\00:31:48.27 He was going to be persecuted for that, and to do it for 120 00:31:48.30\00:31:50.61 years he needed someone that was going to trust Him. 00:31:50.64\00:31:55.11 2 Peter 2, verse 5 says, "God did not spare the ancient world, 00:31:55.14\00:31:59.68 but he saved Noah, one of eight people, 00:31:59.71\00:32:03.08 a preacher of righteousness." 00:32:03.12\00:32:06.39 Now, when we think of Noah, we think of him as a carpenter. 00:32:06.42\00:32:08.86 By the way, Noah is a type of Christ. 00:32:08.89\00:32:10.69 Was Christ a carpenter? 00:32:10.73\00:32:13.96 But it says Noah was also a preacher, so Noah was preaching. 00:32:14.00\00:32:18.67 He was telling the world to turn from their wickedness. 00:32:18.70\00:32:20.80 God was going to destroy the world. 00:32:20.84\00:32:22.24 He said, "I'm building a boat, and all that want to get on 00:32:22.27\00:32:24.34 board, there'll be room. 00:32:24.37\00:32:25.77 Everybody can get on board." 00:32:25.81\00:32:27.21 Noah not only preached with his mouth, 00:32:27.24\00:32:29.11 he preached with his hammer. 00:32:29.14\00:32:32.65 You know, there's a lot of preachers that preach with their 00:32:32.68\00:32:34.92 mouth but they don't preach with their life, and you want your 00:32:34.95\00:32:39.92 life to match what you're preaching. 00:32:39.95\00:32:44.16 You know, it's like some of the televangelists. 00:32:44.19\00:32:45.86 They're asking everybody to make tremendous sacrifices for their 00:32:45.89\00:32:49.96 ministry, and they're driving Bentleys, and you wonder, "How 00:32:50.00\00:32:54.57 are they preaching with their life the same they're preaching 00:32:54.60\00:32:56.57 with their mouth," you know what I'm saying? 00:32:56.60\00:33:00.84 And so, Noah was preaching with his hammer, and he took the 00:33:00.88\00:33:03.41 persecution, and he was consistently building this boat. 00:33:03.45\00:33:06.11 And I think a lot of people believed Noah, but when they 00:33:06.15\00:33:09.62 finally came time to get on board, they gave in to the 00:33:09.65\00:33:11.99 mocking of the crowd, because there 00:33:12.02\00:33:13.69 was not a cloud in the sky. 00:33:13.72\00:33:15.66 They waited until they had physical evidence. 00:33:15.69\00:33:17.83 And you had to get on board by faith, in the Word. 00:33:17.86\00:33:20.96 They waited until they said, "I want to see signs and wonders. 00:33:20.96\00:33:23.47 I want to see some rain." 00:33:23.50\00:33:25.80 They did have one sign: all the animals came to the ark. 00:33:25.83\00:33:28.24 That should have been a clue, but there's no rain yet. 00:33:28.27\00:33:31.84 They said, "It's never rained." 00:33:31.87\00:33:34.08 Some people are going to wait until they see Christ coming in 00:33:34.11\00:33:36.31 the clouds before they repent. 00:33:36.34\00:33:37.65 It's too late then. 00:33:37.68\00:33:39.61 Matthew chapter 24. 00:33:39.65\00:33:41.72 Some other lessons Jesus gives us about Noah. 00:33:41.75\00:33:44.29 Verse 37, "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the 00:33:44.32\00:33:48.79 coming of the Son of Man be. 00:33:48.82\00:33:50.59 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and 00:33:50.63\00:33:53.43 drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that 00:33:53.46\00:33:56.83 Noah entered the ark, and they did not know until the flood 00:33:56.87\00:33:59.70 came and took them all away." 00:33:59.73\00:34:01.40 Now, is there anything--so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 00:34:01.44\00:34:05.47 Is there anything wrong with planting and building and eating 00:34:05.51\00:34:08.74 and drinking and marrying? 00:34:08.78\00:34:10.11 Is it okay to plant and build and eat and drink? 00:34:10.15\00:34:13.72 They were preoccupied with these things. 00:34:13.75\00:34:16.89 They were preoccupied. 00:34:16.92\00:34:18.22 Jesus said, "Do not be overwhelmed with the cares of 00:34:18.25\00:34:20.62 this life so that the day comes upon you unaware." 00:34:20.66\00:34:23.36 Something else about that. 00:34:23.39\00:34:25.33 Do you plant if you think you have no future? 00:34:25.36\00:34:29.96 What good is planting if you have no--do you marry if you 00:34:30.00\00:34:32.57 think you have no future? 00:34:32.60\00:34:34.14 Isn't married--marriage predicated on the idea you're 00:34:34.17\00:34:36.71 going to have time together with the person you're marrying? 00:34:36.74\00:34:38.41 What about building? 00:34:38.44\00:34:39.74 Do you build if you don't think you're going to have time to 00:34:39.77\00:34:41.18 live in what you're building? 00:34:41.21\00:34:43.24 So, everything they were doing back then, it's basically they 00:34:43.28\00:34:45.95 were saying, "Oh, we got plenty of time. 00:34:45.98\00:34:47.95 Noah, you just keep on preaching." 00:34:47.98\00:34:50.65 And they really didn't never make any realistic preparation. 00:34:50.69\00:34:54.89 Jesus said, "As it was in the days of Noah--" And, you know, I 00:34:54.92\00:34:57.69 might add He not only said as it was in the days of Noah. 00:34:57.73\00:35:01.43 He said as it was in the days of Lot. 00:35:01.46\00:35:04.73 You know what? 00:35:04.77\00:35:06.07 The days of Lot have arrived, friends, 00:35:06.10\00:35:07.40 if you didn't know it, amen? 00:35:07.44\00:35:10.81 I know you can't say that or you're going to get canceled, 00:35:10.84\00:35:15.14 but you know it's true. 00:35:15.18\00:35:16.88 And I've got to preach the truth. 00:35:16.91\00:35:18.98 That's right. 00:35:19.01\00:35:20.75 I was flying back from somewhere couple weeks ago. 00:35:20.78\00:35:23.02 Oh, it's Mexico. 00:35:23.05\00:35:24.75 And I read an email somebody sent me where now it's not just 00:35:24.79\00:35:30.73 men marrying men and women marrying women, but now they've 00:35:30.76\00:35:34.00 got three people getting married and adopting children. 00:35:34.03\00:35:40.00 I just said, "We knew this was coming." 00:35:40.04\00:35:43.00 And, you know, the thoughts of men's hearts 00:35:43.04\00:35:45.67 are only evil continually. 00:35:45.71\00:35:49.04 And who would have thought, 40 years ago, 00:35:49.08\00:35:51.75 this could happen so quickly? 00:35:51.78\00:35:53.85 That a 5,000-year-old institution of marriage would 00:35:53.88\00:35:57.65 just vaporize, and churches, some churches, would support it. 00:35:57.69\00:36:04.09 That's the shocking thing. 00:36:04.13\00:36:05.79 We are living in the days of Noah and the days of Lot. 00:36:05.83\00:36:08.33 Can you say amen? 00:36:08.36\00:36:09.96 So, because wickedness filled the earth, God was going 00:36:10.00\00:36:12.77 to save the world. 00:36:12.80\00:36:14.10 He's going to destroy the world. 00:36:14.14\00:36:15.44 He destroyed it by water back then. 00:36:15.47\00:36:17.21 Peter tells us when He comes the next time He's going to destroy 00:36:17.24\00:36:20.04 it by fire, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 00:36:20.08\00:36:24.25 Now we're looking at the covenant with Noah. 00:36:24.28\00:36:25.81 Look at verse 16. 00:36:25.85\00:36:27.38 I'm sorry, verse 17 of Genesis 6. 00:36:27.42\00:36:30.22 "And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the 00:36:30.25\00:36:33.52 earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh that is on the 00:36:33.56\00:36:37.16 breath--that has the breath of life; 00:36:37.19\00:36:38.83 everything that is on the earth will die. 00:36:38.86\00:36:41.66 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you will go into 00:36:41.70\00:36:46.77 the ark--you and your sons and your wife 00:36:46.80\00:36:49.47 and your sons' wives with you." 00:36:49.50\00:36:52.24 It's pretty clear about God's arrangement about sons 00:36:52.27\00:36:54.48 and wives back then, right? 00:36:54.51\00:36:57.08 This was a covenant that was made based on grace, 00:36:57.11\00:37:01.75 but it was established by action. 00:37:01.78\00:37:04.19 So, when God makes this covenant with Noah, and Noah says, 00:37:04.22\00:37:06.55 "Praise the Lord. I'm saved. 00:37:06.59\00:37:08.39 God's going to save me. He's going to save my son. 00:37:08.42\00:37:10.29 He's going to save their wives, and I guess everything's okay 00:37:10.33\00:37:11.99 and I don't have to worry." 00:37:12.03\00:37:13.63 Is that the attitude Noah had? 00:37:13.66\00:37:15.00 Or Noah said, "Lord, I believe Your Word," and then he started 00:37:15.03\00:37:18.10 building a boat? 00:37:18.13\00:37:20.17 So, Noah was saved by grace, but he showed that he was saved by 00:37:20.20\00:37:24.27 grace by getting out his hammer and his saw. 00:37:24.31\00:37:27.84 See what I'm saying? 00:37:27.88\00:37:29.58 And so, when David killed Goliath, he said, "I come 00:37:29.61\00:37:32.98 against you in the name of the Lord." 00:37:33.01\00:37:34.32 He was trusting in God, but he also had a sling. 00:37:34.35\00:37:37.69 So, some people just believe the grace part. 00:37:37.72\00:37:39.65 They don't believe the practical aspects of grace. 00:37:39.69\00:37:43.56 If you really believed--it's like James says, "You can show 00:37:43.59\00:37:46.86 me your faith without your works, and I will show you my 00:37:46.90\00:37:49.70 faith by my works." 00:37:49.73\00:37:51.27 This is exactly what Noah did, and it mentions this in Hebrews, 00:37:51.30\00:37:55.34 as well, Hebrews 11. 00:37:55.37\00:37:58.24 So, God's grace kept Noah from the wrath of man. 00:37:58.27\00:38:03.14 He preserved him that 120 years. 00:38:03.18\00:38:04.88 The world was full of violence and, let's admit it, Noah was 00:38:04.91\00:38:09.18 doing something very odd and different 00:38:09.22\00:38:10.75 from the rest of the world. 00:38:10.79\00:38:12.09 He was going against the tide of wickedness. 00:38:12.12\00:38:15.02 God protected Noah from the wrath of beast and from the 00:38:15.06\00:38:19.33 storm, and so these are some ways we see 00:38:19.36\00:38:22.60 God showed him grace. 00:38:22.63\00:38:25.33 Now, are we saved based on a covenant with Jews? 00:38:25.37\00:38:30.44 Was Noah saved because he was Jewish? 00:38:30.47\00:38:33.54 I'll just check here real quick. 00:38:33.58\00:38:35.01 How many of you have had your ancestry DNA done? 00:38:35.04\00:38:38.65 I have. My kids did it for me. 00:38:38.68\00:38:40.42 Okay, we see some. 00:38:40.45\00:38:41.75 How many of you were related to Noah? 00:38:41.78\00:38:43.08 Did it show? 00:38:43.12\00:38:46.49 It didn't show up? 00:38:46.52\00:38:47.82 It really ought to, because, you know, all of us are here 00:38:47.86\00:38:51.69 because of Noah. 00:38:51.73\00:38:53.03 The whole world was saved. 00:38:53.06\00:38:54.50 Anyone alive in the world today is because of the grace and the 00:38:54.56\00:38:57.33 covenant of Noah, all flesh, 00:38:57.37\00:39:00.40 because of the faith of that man. 00:39:00.44\00:39:02.57 All right, the sign of the rainbow. 00:39:02.60\00:39:05.81 Boy, I see--I thought--my time went so quickly. 00:39:05.84\00:39:09.31 Let's talk about this. 00:39:09.34\00:39:11.05 Genesis 9:12. 00:39:11.08\00:39:13.11 After the flood, of course, he preserved them from that 00:39:13.15\00:39:15.78 terrible deluge, the flood. 00:39:15.82\00:39:19.69 By the way, you know, I think it's interesting all the 00:39:19.72\00:39:23.43 paleontologists, they look at the fossil record around the 00:39:23.46\00:39:27.23 world, and they say, "All of these bones we see are the 00:39:27.23\00:39:31.53 result of a cataclysmic flood on almost a global scale 00:39:31.57\00:39:38.84 caused by an asteroid." 00:39:38.87\00:39:42.34 They can tell from the evidence in the fossils there was a 00:39:42.38\00:39:45.18 cataclysmic flood that altered the surface of the earth, and 00:39:45.21\00:39:49.12 all these things died very suddenly, but they can't accept 00:39:49.15\00:39:53.15 that it was God-caused. 00:39:53.19\00:39:54.82 They say it was from an asteroid, 00:39:54.86\00:39:56.39 and they're only speculating. 00:39:56.42\00:39:57.76 They think, well, maybe it landed in the Gulf of Mexico. 00:39:57.79\00:40:00.56 They don't know where it landed. 00:40:00.60\00:40:01.86 That part they haven't quite found yet, because they can't 00:40:01.90\00:40:05.47 believe that God sent a flood. 00:40:05.50\00:40:07.47 Anyway. 00:40:07.50\00:40:08.80 All right. 00:40:08.84\00:40:10.07 After that he preserves them, and God then puts this bow in 00:40:10.11\00:40:12.97 the heavens. 00:40:13.01\00:40:14.31 Now, it had never rained before, so they'd never seen this 00:40:14.34\00:40:16.78 phenomenon that you and I take for granted. 00:40:16.81\00:40:18.31 You know, we see a rainbow. 00:40:18.35\00:40:19.65 We get our cameras out, say, "Isn't it pretty?" 00:40:19.68\00:40:20.98 and we send it to our friends. 00:40:21.02\00:40:22.62 But it is so pretty, but it's--they'd never seen that. 00:40:22.65\00:40:27.66 It'd never rained. 00:40:27.69\00:40:30.13 "This is the sign of the covenant that I'll make between 00:40:30.16\00:40:32.39 Me and you, and every living creature," so this is a 00:40:32.43\00:40:34.73 covenant, another covenant God makes not just with Noah, but 00:40:34.76\00:40:37.70 even the animals. 00:40:37.73\00:40:39.83 "A perpetual covenant for generations: I set My rainbow in 00:40:39.87\00:40:43.44 the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between 00:40:43.47\00:40:46.14 Me and the earth. 00:40:46.17\00:40:47.71 And it will be that when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the 00:40:47.74\00:40:50.68 rainbow will be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My 00:40:50.71\00:40:53.25 covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of 00:40:53.28\00:40:57.39 all flesh; the waters will never again become a flood 00:40:57.42\00:41:00.66 to destroy all flesh." 00:41:00.69\00:41:02.32 Are there still floods that destroy? 00:41:02.36\00:41:05.19 But they're not global floods, is what He's saying. 00:41:05.23\00:41:07.96 "The rainbow will be in the cloud, and I'll look for it to 00:41:07.96\00:41:11.00 remember the everlasting covenant--" Now, does God need 00:41:11.03\00:41:13.23 to look at the rainbow and go, "Oh, yeah. 00:41:13.27\00:41:15.00 I promised I wouldn't wipe them out"? 00:41:15.04\00:41:17.21 It's just a sign, this, sort of, poetic way of God saying, "I'm 00:41:17.24\00:41:20.34 going to see that. 00:41:20.38\00:41:21.68 I'll remember the covenant." 00:41:21.71\00:41:23.01 God never forgets anything. 00:41:23.04\00:41:25.05 "'Between you--God and every living creature and all flesh 00:41:25.08\00:41:28.15 that is on the earth.' 00:41:28.18\00:41:29.48 And God said to Noah, 'This is the sign 00:41:29.52\00:41:30.85 of the covenant that I've established between Me and all 00:41:30.89\00:41:34.12 flesh that is on the earth.'" 00:41:34.16\00:41:35.46 So, God gave us that sign, and 00:41:35.49\00:41:37.43 every time we see a rainbow, even if it's just the sun-shower 00:41:37.46\00:41:40.30 on a nice day, whenever you see a rainbow we're reminded 00:41:40.33\00:41:43.16 of the mercy of God. 00:41:43.20\00:41:44.67 Every day of life is because of the mercy of God He extends. 00:41:44.70\00:41:48.97 The rainbow also reminds us He did destroy the world once with 00:41:49.00\00:41:52.74 water, and He will do it again with fire. 00:41:52.77\00:41:54.84 It's what 2 Peter chapter 3 tells us. 00:41:54.88\00:41:58.48 Now, you know a rainbow is just an interesting scientific 00:41:58.51\00:42:01.62 phenomenon of the light hits those droplets of water and it 00:42:01.65\00:42:06.42 refracts and bounces off the dense material, and it has that 00:42:06.45\00:42:10.79 prism effect where it separates the different wavelengths into 00:42:10.83\00:42:14.30 those colors of a rainbow. 00:42:14.30\00:42:15.96 And it's really phenomenal. 00:42:16.00\00:42:17.23 Some of you probably played with a prism before, and you can see 00:42:17.27\00:42:20.44 how a prism will break down the different spectrum of light, and 00:42:20.47\00:42:25.94 it is really fascinating how that happens. 00:42:25.97\00:42:28.44 You know, rainbows appear other times in the Bible. 00:42:28.48\00:42:31.18 Look in Ezekiel 1:26. 00:42:31.21\00:42:33.88 It's talking about the throne of God. 00:42:33.92\00:42:35.38 "And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of 00:42:35.42\00:42:38.05 a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness 00:42:38.09\00:42:42.59 of the throne was a likeness of--with the appearance of a man 00:42:42.62\00:42:46.43 high above it. 00:42:46.46\00:42:48.13 Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it 00:42:48.16\00:42:51.03 were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all 00:42:51.07\00:42:54.30 around within it; and from the appearance of His waist downward 00:42:54.34\00:42:57.71 I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with 00:42:57.74\00:42:59.87 brightness all around. 00:42:59.91\00:43:01.28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so 00:43:01.31\00:43:05.48 was the appearance of the brightness all around it. 00:43:05.51\00:43:08.45 This was the appearance, 00:43:08.48\00:43:09.78 the likeness of the glory of the Lord. 00:43:09.82\00:43:12.42 So when I saw it, I fell down on my face, and I heard the voice 00:43:12.45\00:43:15.66 of One speaking." 00:43:15.69\00:43:17.56 You can also look here in Revelation 4, verse 3. 00:43:17.59\00:43:21.73 "He who sat there was like jasper and a sardius stone in 00:43:21.76\00:43:25.87 appearance; and there was a rainbow all around the throne, 00:43:25.90\00:43:29.44 in appearance like an emerald," speaking of the throne of God. 00:43:29.47\00:43:32.54 So, this is a symbol. 00:43:32.57\00:43:34.14 Now, I don't know how you feel, but I--I'm sometime saddened 00:43:34.18\00:43:38.05 when I see that this beautiful biblical symbol of God's grace 00:43:38.08\00:43:41.88 and holiness has been hijacked by, you know, militant 00:43:41.92\00:43:46.65 homosexuals to be a symbol for them, and I, kind of, wish that 00:43:46.69\00:43:52.39 Christians would, sort of, take it back again. 00:43:52.43\00:43:54.73 I can promise you if Christians started putting rainbows all out 00:43:54.73\00:43:57.57 in front of their churches, the militant homosexuals would stop 00:43:57.60\00:44:02.27 using it, because they wouldn't want that association. 00:44:02.30\00:44:07.91 You didn't know I was going to say things that were so plain. 00:44:07.94\00:44:11.85 It's interesting. 00:44:11.88\00:44:13.18 If you read in Sumerian myths--now, the Sumerian myths, 00:44:13.21\00:44:17.72 you know, there is some similarity between biblical 00:44:17.75\00:44:19.69 truth, and they've got this story about a Sumerian hero. 00:44:19.72\00:44:24.09 His name was Gilgamesh and in the "Epic of Gilgamesh" talks 00:44:24.13\00:44:27.66 about this great flood that wiped out the whole world. 00:44:27.73\00:44:30.47 And he was to build a boat and bring the animals on board, very 00:44:30.50\00:44:32.80 much like the story of Noah. 00:44:32.83\00:44:34.40 He even sends out ravens and doves at the end of the story, 00:44:34.44\00:44:37.77 and it says, "The god Ishtar created the rainbow and placed 00:44:37.81\00:44:41.78 it in the sky as a reminder to the gods and a pledge to mankind 00:44:41.81\00:44:45.91 there would be no more floods." 00:44:45.95\00:44:47.45 Isn't it interesting that some of these ancient myths mirror 00:44:47.48\00:44:51.75 aspects--they're drawn from the truth of the Bible? 00:44:51.79\00:44:55.39 All right. 00:44:55.42\00:44:56.73 Then you finally get to the last section here. 00:44:56.76\00:44:58.09 It says, "Only Noah was left," meaning Noah, 00:44:58.13\00:45:00.73 his house, his family. 00:45:00.76\00:45:02.86 Genesis 7, verse 23, "So He," God, "destroyed all living 00:45:02.90\00:45:07.74 things that were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, 00:45:07.77\00:45:10.77 creeping things and birds of the air. 00:45:10.81\00:45:12.94 They were destroyed from the earth. 00:45:12.97\00:45:14.91 Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark 00:45:14.94\00:45:17.38 remained alive." 00:45:17.41\00:45:18.88 What does that teach us about the last days? 00:45:18.91\00:45:21.42 Only those in the ark survived in the last days. 00:45:21.45\00:45:24.29 Only those in Christ will survive. 00:45:24.32\00:45:28.39 There was a--side of Jesus was pierced. 00:45:28.42\00:45:32.26 There was an opening from which came blood and water. 00:45:32.29\00:45:35.13 There was only one door in the ark. 00:45:35.16\00:45:37.00 I think I mentioned these things last week. 00:45:37.03\00:45:38.87 Christ said, "I am the door. 00:45:38.90\00:45:40.54 Anyone who goes around any other way is a thief and a robber. 00:45:40.57\00:45:43.77 I am the way. I am the truth. 00:45:43.81\00:45:45.47 I am life." There's only one way. 00:45:45.51\00:45:47.18 One of the favorite phrases of the apostle Paul 00:45:47.21\00:45:49.44 was to say "in Christ." 00:45:49.48\00:45:51.75 Over and over, Paul talks about being in Christ, and as we are 00:45:51.78\00:45:56.55 in Christ, we are in that ark of salvation. 00:45:56.58\00:46:00.52 You get several arks in the Bible. 00:46:00.56\00:46:01.86 You know, God's holy law was put in an ark. 00:46:01.89\00:46:04.06 It's a box. 00:46:04.09\00:46:07.36 And then, the Savior, Moses was put in an ark and preserved. 00:46:07.40\00:46:14.20 God's law, His Word was preserved, and then, of course, 00:46:14.24\00:46:17.24 Noah, the human race was preserved in this ark, and we 00:46:17.27\00:46:21.44 need to treat our brains like an ark and hide His Word in there 00:46:21.48\00:46:25.68 and have the Savior in there. 00:46:25.71\00:46:28.08 So, Noah was the remnant. 00:46:28.12\00:46:30.85 Everyone is wiped out, but He saved a remnant of humanity, a 00:46:30.89\00:46:33.66 remnant of the animals. 00:46:33.69\00:46:35.76 All of the elephants you see in the world today, probably even 00:46:35.79\00:46:39.79 the woolly mammoths and mastodons, all those derivatives 00:46:39.83\00:46:42.00 of elephants, from two elephant-like animals that Noah 00:46:42.03\00:46:45.00 took on the ark. 00:46:45.03\00:46:46.33 They were the remnants that saved everything else. 00:46:46.37\00:46:48.90 When God called Abraham out from Ur of the Chaldees, 00:46:48.94\00:46:53.41 he was the remnant. 00:46:53.44\00:46:55.04 God saved a remnant from the people that came from 00:46:55.08\00:46:57.78 Mesopotamia, and He rose up a holy nation from that remnant, 00:46:57.81\00:47:02.32 as He had done with Noah. 00:47:02.35\00:47:05.02 Now, the word "remnant," according to "Webster's 00:47:05.05\00:47:06.82 Dictionary"--and, by the way, you find it 00:47:06.86\00:47:09.52 85 times in the Bible. 00:47:09.56\00:47:12.33 It means "something that is left over," "a remainder," like a 00:47:12.36\00:47:16.00 leftover piece of a fabric after the rest has been used, "a 00:47:16.03\00:47:20.04 surviving trace or vestige." 00:47:20.07\00:47:22.34 Any remnant that you might see or use is going to have some 00:47:22.37\00:47:25.17 similarity to the original. 00:47:25.21\00:47:26.81 If you get a remnant cloth, that last piece that comes off the 00:47:26.84\00:47:29.34 bolt of cloth, it's going to look something 00:47:29.38\00:47:30.95 like the original, right? 00:47:30.98\00:47:32.75 In the last days, God is going to have a remnant that's going 00:47:32.78\00:47:35.75 to be saved, and that remnant that he calls out of Babylon is 00:47:35.78\00:47:40.62 going to be like the original, 00:47:40.66\00:47:42.26 as it was in the days of the apostles. 00:47:42.29\00:47:45.03 You can have the faith that was once delivered to the saints. 00:47:45.06\00:47:49.33 Abraham was a remnant. 00:47:49.36\00:47:50.83 Joseph. 00:47:50.87\00:47:52.33 He said in Genesis 45:7, "So God sent me before you 00:47:52.37\00:47:55.97 to preserve you a remnant in the earth, 00:47:56.00\00:47:58.91 to save your life by great deliverance." 00:47:58.94\00:48:02.54 You remember when Athaliah wanted to kill all the royal 00:48:02.58\00:48:04.75 seat of David? 00:48:04.78\00:48:06.25 And Joash was the only descendant that was saved, and 00:48:06.28\00:48:10.32 from that remnant, that one baby, 00:48:10.35\00:48:12.95 the line of David was preserved. 00:48:12.99\00:48:15.79 And, of course, Jesus comes through the line of David. 00:48:15.82\00:48:19.36 And then, you've got, of course, Jeremiah 23. 00:48:19.39\00:48:22.40 "But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries 00:48:22.43\00:48:26.33 where I've driven them, and bring them back to their folds; 00:48:26.37\00:48:30.17 and they will be fruitful and increase." 00:48:30.21\00:48:32.71 In the last days, God is calling His people back to the Word. 00:48:32.74\00:48:35.64 He's going to save a remnant from the blizzard of 00:48:35.68\00:48:40.82 Christianity that is around the world right now. 00:48:40.85\00:48:43.62 Well, friends, I can see that whenever you want and, most 00:49:47.05\00:49:50.69 important, to share it with others. 00:49:50.72\00:49:53.15 male: I'm from Armenia. 00:49:59.16\00:50:00.46 I'm Armenian, and I was born there, but I was raised in L.A. 00:50:00.50\00:50:03.83 I was a sophomore in high school, so give or take 15, 00:50:03.87\00:50:07.24 16 years old. 00:50:07.27\00:50:08.94 And I had some idea about God because I was raised in a 00:50:08.97\00:50:12.64 Christian home, but to know Him as the Bible taught, no clue. 00:50:12.67\00:50:16.95 I was really poor in math, so my mom took me to a math tutor 00:50:16.98\00:50:19.85 every Sunday morning to sharpen my skills, if you will. 00:50:19.88\00:50:23.62 And one particular Sunday morning we were watching those 00:50:23.65\00:50:26.59 Sunday-morning TV shows where the preachers are preaching, and 00:50:26.62\00:50:29.76 Doug Batchelor happened to be on. 00:50:29.79\00:50:31.33 I paid attention. 00:50:31.36\00:50:32.66 I'm like, "Mom, makes pretty good sense, though," because he 00:50:32.69\00:50:34.73 was backing up with Scripture. 00:50:34.76\00:50:36.00 So, once Doug Batchelor finished his sermon, the announcer said, 00:50:36.03\00:50:39.50 "If you're interested in Bible studies, you can go to the 00:50:39.53\00:50:42.00 Amazing Facts website, and there's a link there 00:50:42.04\00:50:44.34 for free Bible studies." 00:50:44.37\00:50:45.87 So, I said, "I got spring break next week. 00:50:45.91\00:50:48.24 Might as well just do it because I have nothing else to do." 00:50:48.28\00:50:51.68 Well, I did it for about two, three days nonstop. 00:50:51.71\00:50:53.38 I was up until 2, 3 in the morning doing the Bible study 00:50:53.42\00:50:56.18 guides, and when I was done I was like, "Wow! 00:50:56.22\00:50:59.92 I have no idea about God. 00:50:59.95\00:51:02.09 I thought I did, but I don't." 00:51:02.12\00:51:03.96 So, as I was beginning to learn all these things, my mom was 00:51:03.99\00:51:07.86 open, because she's the one who was actually watching the shows. 00:51:07.93\00:51:12.00 And so, she began to study alongside with me after my first 00:51:12.03\00:51:15.17 lessons were done, and she embraced the truth because she 00:51:15.20\00:51:18.81 was open to the truth. 00:51:18.84\00:51:20.18 But what the real problem was, was my grandmother. 00:51:20.21\00:51:23.21 Growing up in an Armenian home, if you ever go away from your 00:51:23.24\00:51:26.38 own religion, from your own Christianity, it's like you're 00:51:26.41\00:51:29.75 an heretic, so there was a war between myself and my grandma. 00:51:29.78\00:51:33.89 So, I had to study with her in her own language, in Armenian to 00:51:33.92\00:51:38.09 show from her Bible the things that I was learning was actually 00:51:38.13\00:51:40.50 from the truth. 00:51:40.53\00:51:41.80 So, as my mom and I began to attend the church, we made a 00:51:41.83\00:51:44.33 decision to get baptized as members, and so we got baptized 00:51:44.37\00:51:48.60 some months later after doing some 00:51:48.64\00:51:50.04 Bible studies with the pastor. 00:51:50.07\00:51:51.77 And then, I went to school, and I said to my friends, "I'm 00:51:51.81\00:51:55.04 officially a Seventh-day Adventist," 00:51:55.08\00:51:56.95 with a big grin on my face. 00:51:56.98\00:51:58.78 And they said to me, "What is that?" 00:51:58.81\00:52:00.98 It dawned on me I'm a teenager going to high school. 00:52:01.02\00:52:04.42 I'm not ordained. 00:52:04.45\00:52:05.75 I'm not a professor. 00:52:05.79\00:52:07.09 I don't know much. 00:52:07.12\00:52:08.42 I just know that I did some Bible studies, I learned about 00:52:08.46\00:52:11.16 Christ, and now I'm sharing with those friends of mine, so I 00:52:11.19\00:52:14.13 began to study with some of my friends in the school bus, in 00:52:14.20\00:52:16.60 the class about the things I was learning. 00:52:16.63\00:52:19.17 And I began to share the Bible study guides from Amazing Facts 00:52:19.20\00:52:21.54 with them, and I gave them some DVDs 00:52:21.57\00:52:23.64 from Amazing Facts, as well. 00:52:23.67\00:52:25.27 And I began to read and read, because as I was sharing things 00:52:25.31\00:52:28.74 with people they asked me questions about God, to which I 00:52:28.78\00:52:31.88 said, "Let me get back to you." 00:52:31.91\00:52:33.58 So, I had to go back and purchase some more books and 00:52:33.62\00:52:36.25 study out those topics so I can give them a answer. 00:52:36.28\00:52:38.49 I probably ordered over a thousand dollars' worth of books 00:52:38.52\00:52:41.86 from Amazing Facts, books on Revelation and Daniel and 00:52:41.89\00:52:45.33 prophecy and the law and grace and all sorts of things. 00:52:45.36\00:52:49.13 And so, Amazing Facts was really crucial at that stage, where it 00:52:49.16\00:52:52.93 provided the resources I needed to know the Bible better 00:52:52.97\00:52:56.04 and to share my faith with others. 00:52:56.07\00:52:58.77 But it's funny how God works, because years later they 00:52:58.81\00:53:02.51 themselves got baptized in church. 00:53:02.54\00:53:04.48 And when they came to me, they said, "I am officially a 00:53:04.51\00:53:07.18 Seventh-day Adventist myself." 00:53:07.22\00:53:09.05 To this very day, every Sabbath morning--my mom isn't able to go 00:53:09.08\00:53:12.52 to church, but she watches Amazing Facts online every 00:53:12.55\00:53:15.52 Sabbath as her divine worship. 00:53:15.56\00:53:17.29 If it wasn't for Amazing Facts, I would have not known Christ. 00:53:17.33\00:53:20.83 I would have not had that peace that He offers, and all these 00:53:20.86\00:53:24.00 people who came to know Christ would have 00:53:24.03\00:53:26.40 not had the opportunity. 00:53:26.43\00:53:28.24 My name is Taron Hovsepyan. 00:53:28.27\00:53:30.81 I want to thank you for changing my life. 00:53:30.84\00:53:33.94 announcer: Amazing facts. Changed lives. 00:53:46.52\00:53:50.43 Josh: Our family was Christian, to begin with. 00:53:54.63\00:53:57.00 Mom and Dad were involved at the church at times. 00:53:57.03\00:53:59.63 On the inside our family wasn't really Christian, I guess. 00:53:59.67\00:54:02.87 It was just--it was a front that we put on. 00:54:02.90\00:54:05.81 My dad suffered from bipolar disorder. 00:54:05.84\00:54:08.51 Instead of taking his medication, 00:54:08.54\00:54:09.88 he turned to alcohol. 00:54:09.91\00:54:11.45 He could be mad one second and the next second he'd be happy, 00:54:11.48\00:54:14.22 and it was so confusing for us. 00:54:14.25\00:54:16.42 Most of the time, we'd be upstairs to try to avoid them. 00:54:16.45\00:54:21.19 I made good grades all the way up until high school. 00:54:21.22\00:54:23.59 High school, I started struggling because my mom was a 00:54:23.63\00:54:27.00 single parent at the time, and I had to get a job. 00:54:27.03\00:54:29.70 I was working every day after school. 00:54:29.73\00:54:32.23 I didn't have many friends to talk to, 00:54:32.27\00:54:33.74 so I was getting depressed. 00:54:33.77\00:54:35.57 I was always tired. 00:54:35.60\00:54:37.17 I started failing my assignments because I would fall asleep 00:54:37.21\00:54:39.67 during class, and I couldn't listen to the teachers. 00:54:39.71\00:54:41.84 I couldn't comprehend what they were saying. 00:54:41.88\00:54:44.45 By my 11th-grade year, I dropped out, and I tried homeschooling. 00:54:44.48\00:54:49.68 I just ended up working full-time. 00:54:49.72\00:54:52.42 I had lots of girlfriends growing up, but I was always 00:54:52.45\00:54:54.86 terrified of talking to guys. 00:54:54.89\00:54:56.19 Like, my hands would start to sweat. 00:54:56.22\00:54:57.86 I would tense up. 00:54:57.89\00:54:59.19 I couldn't talk. 00:54:59.23\00:55:00.60 I guess that's when I started developing an attraction. 00:55:00.63\00:55:04.00 Gay guys weren't scary to talk to, 00:55:04.03\00:55:06.00 so I started talking to them. 00:55:06.03\00:55:07.47 And then, I started meeting them, and then it just went from 00:55:07.50\00:55:09.80 there, and then I started having relationships with them. 00:55:09.84\00:55:13.14 I just wanted to find someone who would care. 00:55:13.17\00:55:16.34 After high school, most of my friends were gone, 00:55:16.38\00:55:18.98 but there were a few left home. 00:55:19.01\00:55:21.32 We all started getting into drugs 00:55:21.35\00:55:22.98 and smoking weed and drinking. 00:55:23.02\00:55:24.99 I was able to leave my depression behind, 00:55:25.02\00:55:27.36 and I wasn't shy anymore. 00:55:27.39\00:55:28.76 I was able to talk to anyone I wanted to. 00:55:28.79\00:55:30.93 It wasn't real, but it felt real at the time. 00:55:30.96\00:55:34.60 During this time, I felt like God had left me. 00:55:34.63\00:55:38.03 I'd hear conversations at church talking about gays and people on 00:55:38.07\00:55:41.64 drugs and stuff, and, you know, they'd talk so bad about them. 00:55:41.67\00:55:44.67 It drove me to leave church. 00:55:44.71\00:55:46.01 I eventually just left church. 00:55:46.04\00:55:47.34 I left God. 00:55:47.38\00:55:48.68 I just didn't care anymore. 00:55:48.71\00:55:50.01 I didn't care what God thought because 00:55:50.05\00:55:51.75 I didn't think He cared about me. 00:55:51.78\00:55:54.35 At the beginning of this year, I moved in with my boyfriend. 00:55:54.38\00:55:57.15 I still felt empty. 00:55:57.19\00:55:58.49 I still wasn't happy. 00:55:58.52\00:55:59.82 I thought I had what I wanted. 00:55:59.85\00:56:01.22 I had a guy that I could love, and I thought he loved me, but I 00:56:01.26\00:56:03.43 was still empty. 00:56:03.46\00:56:04.76 I still felt like if I died today I wasn't sure where I was 00:56:04.79\00:56:07.23 going to go, and I wasn't sure if I'd be 00:56:07.23\00:56:08.96 a disappointment to everyone. 00:56:09.00\00:56:12.37 My grandma texted me. 00:56:13.64\00:56:15.47 She told me that an Amazing Facts evangelist was coming to 00:56:15.50\00:56:18.17 our church to do a prophecy seminar. 00:56:18.21\00:56:20.74 I didn't really want to go because I've been to those 00:56:20.78\00:56:22.68 before, and they were normally pretty boring, 00:56:22.71\00:56:24.65 and I'd fall asleep. 00:56:24.68\00:56:25.98 I was planning on making excuses for every night, 00:56:26.01\00:56:27.78 but she was dedicated. 00:56:27.82\00:56:29.12 She really wanted me to go, and so did my mom, 00:56:29.15\00:56:31.19 so I ended up going to church. 00:56:31.22\00:56:32.59 And the evangelist that was speaking, he was speaking 00:56:32.62\00:56:34.92 on the sanctuary that morning. 00:56:34.96\00:56:37.16 It made sense to me that there was someone up in heaven 00:56:37.19\00:56:39.73 pleading my cause. 00:56:39.76\00:56:41.23 I've never heard Jesus this way before. 00:56:41.26\00:56:43.97 I went back all the nights that I could, 00:56:44.00\00:56:45.33 except the nights that I worked. 00:56:45.37\00:56:46.70 At the end of it, I ended up getting re-baptized. 00:56:46.74\00:56:49.64 I made a decision to leave this life behind. 00:56:49.67\00:56:51.91 I was still attracted to men, 00:56:51.94\00:56:53.44 but I wanted to leave the lifestyle. 00:56:53.48\00:56:56.08 I didn't want to live in it anymore, any longer, 00:56:56.11\00:56:58.18 because I knew it was wrong. 00:56:58.21\00:56:59.78 The evangelist that was at our church that did the prophecy 00:56:59.81\00:57:02.55 seminar became my mentor. 00:57:02.58\00:57:04.15 He told me about this school called AFCOE. 00:57:04.19\00:57:06.15 It stands for Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism, and I was 00:57:06.19\00:57:09.42 like, "Well, I want that, because I want to learn 00:57:09.46\00:57:11.29 how to share Jesus. 00:57:11.33\00:57:12.63 I want to learn how to be able to help others." 00:57:12.66\00:57:14.36 I prayed about it. I applied online. 00:57:14.36\00:57:16.63 They accepted my application, 00:57:16.67\00:57:17.97 but I still had the money problem left. 00:57:18.00\00:57:20.07 That night, right before I left, He provided over $3,000, and 00:57:20.10\00:57:24.84 He's been providing for me ever since. 00:57:24.87\00:57:26.78 The tools that I've learned here are tools that will stick with 00:57:26.81\00:57:29.41 me forever, and it was life-changing to be able 00:57:29.44\00:57:31.85 to come here, to AFCOE. 00:57:31.88\00:57:34.12 I would love to help other people in my situation because a 00:57:34.15\00:57:36.99 lot of people have prayed that God would take this stuff away, 00:57:37.02\00:57:40.52 and then they get discouraged when He doesn't. 00:57:40.56\00:57:42.66 But what they don't know is that Jesus is there. 00:57:42.69\00:57:45.19 He'll help you through it. 00:57:45.23\00:57:47.23 My name is Josh, and Amazing Facts helped change my life. 00:57:47.30\00:57:51.43 中 00:57:53.94\00:57:59.47 中 00:58:03.18\00:58:12.49 中 00:58:12.52\00:58:19.26 中 00:58:19.29\00:58:24.20
