Is everybody following me? 00:09:08.74\00:09:10.41 So singing and studying the Bible and praising 00:09:10.45\00:09:15.42 God, those things are part of our worship, amen? 00:09:15.45\00:09:19.35 But the worship is really founded on what? 00:09:19.39\00:09:21.99 On a humbled heart, on a heart that has been given over to 00:09:22.02\00:09:24.99 the Lord in submission, amen? 00:09:25.03\00:09:26.80 Saying, "Lord," if you remember in the Bible it says that when 00:09:26.83\00:09:29.70 God's people--when some tragedy would happen or where something 00:09:29.73\00:09:32.63 was intensely--an emergency came, they would do what? 00:09:32.67\00:09:35.80 They would prostrate themselves. 00:09:35.84\00:09:37.14 They would throw dust and they would throw what? 00:09:37.17\00:09:39.67 And they would throw, what else did they throw on themselves? 00:09:39.71\00:09:42.51 Dust and ashes. 00:09:42.54\00:09:44.71 And what does that mean? 00:09:44.75\00:09:46.11 What do they mean when they were throwing dust 00:09:46.15\00:09:47.58 and ashes on themselves? 00:09:47.62\00:09:48.58 Dust represents what? 00:09:48.62\00:09:50.32 What are we made from? 00:09:50.35\00:09:51.15 Of? 00:09:51.19\00:09:52.29 Of dust. And ashes. 00:09:52.32\00:09:53.62 What we're saying is, "Lord." 00:09:53.66\00:09:55.02 When we prostrate ourselves, "Lord, I am dust," right? 00:09:55.06\00:09:57.66 "I came from dust. 00:09:57.69\00:09:58.49 You are my creator. 00:09:58.53\00:10:00.00 And if I don't repent and I don't submit myself to You, if I 00:10:00.03\00:10:03.70 don't humble myself to You, I'm going to be turned into," what? 00:10:03.73\00:10:07.57 "Into ashes." 00:10:07.60\00:10:08.57 So it's an affliction of the soul, actually. 00:10:08.60\00:10:11.11 It's a humbling before God. 00:10:11.14\00:10:12.71 That's what the word "worship" means. 00:10:12.74\00:10:14.64 And if we were to give the word "worship" a synonym, 00:10:14.68\00:10:16.81 and did I say that correctly? 00:10:16.85\00:10:19.28 I always get it confused with synonym. 00:10:19.31\00:10:21.25 Synonym is the actual word, not cinnamon. 00:10:21.28\00:10:23.12 If I were to use a synonym for the word "worship," you know 00:10:23.15\00:10:27.32 what word I would use? 00:10:27.36\00:10:29.19 "Obedience," amen? 00:10:29.22\00:10:31.33 Who wants to worship God? 00:10:31.36\00:10:33.80 Raise your hand. 00:10:33.83\00:10:35.23 Then obey Him, because that is the obedience, 00:10:35.26\00:10:38.80 that is the true worship, is a submission to God's will. 00:10:38.83\00:10:42.10 It's just saying, "Lord, here I am. 00:10:42.14\00:10:43.67 Use me in Your service. 00:10:43.71\00:10:45.24 Use me as You are." 00:10:45.27\00:10:46.41 And why is it that He deserves worship in this context? 00:10:46.44\00:10:50.35 It's because He is our what? 00:10:50.38\00:10:52.18 He is our creator. 00:10:52.21\00:10:53.62 He is our maker, amen? 00:10:53.65\00:10:54.92 And He is the life-giver. 00:10:54.95\00:10:56.48 And so when we choose not to give Him the worship as our 00:10:56.52\00:11:00.26 creator, to give Him the obedience to submit ourselves in 00:11:00.29\00:11:03.53 humility as He is the one, what we're saying is, "I don't want 00:11:03.56\00:11:06.66 to live anymore because He is the life-giver." 00:11:06.70\00:11:08.56 Is everybody with me? 00:11:08.60\00:11:09.83 That's what we're saying. We're rejecting life. 00:11:09.86\00:11:11.57 And He says, if that's what you choose, God respects our 00:11:11.60\00:11:14.00 decision but what we're saying is, "I don't want to live 00:11:14.04\00:11:16.37 anymore because He is the one that gives life and so it is 00:11:16.40\00:11:19.41 through worship, my loved ones, that we are honoring, 00:11:19.44\00:11:22.21 recognizing Him as our--as our creator, amen? 00:11:22.24\00:11:26.11 And we're going to see that as we continue to go into the 00:11:26.15\00:11:28.28 lesson and so immediately, my loved ones, what we find 00:11:28.32\00:11:30.99 is then there's an--is worship and idolatry connected? 00:11:31.02\00:11:36.99 Yes or no, right? 00:11:37.03\00:11:40.00 Is there a connection between worship and idolatry? 00:11:40.03\00:11:42.33 Yes, because when you choose not to worship God, automatically 00:11:42.36\00:11:46.67 what do you fall into? 00:11:46.70\00:11:49.20 You fall into idolatry. 00:11:49.24\00:11:50.54 And so we see this connection in Scripture. 00:11:50.57\00:11:52.67 So if true worship is obedience to God, then what is false 00:11:52.71\00:11:57.95 worship? 00:11:57.98\00:11:59.78 Disobedience to God. 00:11:59.81\00:12:01.18 It's idolatry. 00:12:01.22\00:12:02.22 Is everybody following me? 00:12:02.25\00:12:03.49 And so this is what we find when we come into our lesson, right? 00:12:03.52\00:12:06.69 It gives us the first example. 00:12:06.72\00:12:07.96 It talks about what? 00:12:07.99\00:12:09.22 What is the first example that it gives us about issues with 00:12:09.26\00:12:11.99 worship in our lesson this week? 00:12:12.03\00:12:14.00 It was on regards to--it was on regards to what? 00:12:14.03\00:12:18.40 Egypt, right? 00:12:18.43\00:12:19.80 It was in regards to Egypt. 00:12:19.83\00:12:20.94 I call this worshiping Egyptian style. 00:12:20.97\00:12:24.21 So God--God's people, what happened? 00:12:24.24\00:12:25.97 We know the story. 00:12:26.01\00:12:26.91 They were--they had been hundreds of years. 00:12:26.94\00:12:28.94 They were--they fell into slavery in Egypt. 00:12:28.98\00:12:30.95 Now, do you think that they fell into slavery into Egypt because 00:12:30.98\00:12:33.55 they were obeying God? 00:12:33.58\00:12:34.42 What do you say? 00:12:34.45\00:12:36.18 Go ahead, you can answer. 00:12:36.22\00:12:37.42 Do you think that they fell into slavery because they were 00:12:37.45\00:12:40.89 obeying God, because they were worshiping God properly? 00:12:40.92\00:12:43.76 No, right? 00:12:43.79\00:12:44.96 Maybe during the times of Joseph, Joseph was the pillar, 00:12:44.99\00:12:47.56 right? 00:12:47.60\00:12:48.80 Joseph was the focal point, but once Joseph died, the Scripture 00:12:48.83\00:12:51.10 says that they fell out of favor and I'm sure that also they 00:12:51.13\00:12:54.10 started to follow in the Egyptian worship styles, right? 00:12:54.14\00:12:57.54 They probably started to eat Egyptian food, Egyptian 00:12:57.57\00:13:00.64 entertainment, Egyptian fashion, and the Egyptian lifestyle, 00:13:00.68\00:13:04.55 right? 00:13:04.58\00:13:05.78 Egyptian worship, and they got all caught up but they fell into 00:13:05.81\00:13:08.88 slavery because, why? 00:13:08.92\00:13:10.12 Because they fell away from the Lord. 00:13:10.15\00:13:11.72 But the Lord listened to them, it says in Exodus chapter 2, 00:13:11.75\00:13:14.12 amen? 00:13:14.16\00:13:14.96 And what happened? 00:13:14.99\00:13:16.22 That eventually, slavery becomes such a burden on them, that they 00:13:16.26\00:13:18.66 did what? 00:13:18.69\00:13:19.89 They had no other where to go than back to the God of Abraham, 00:13:19.93\00:13:23.53 of Jacob, and of Isaac, amen? 00:13:23.57\00:13:25.07 Is everybody with me? 00:13:25.10\00:13:26.17 And so they--it says in Exodus chapter 2, around 00:13:26.20\00:13:29.44 verse 23 and 24, it says that they pleaded and they say-- 00:13:29.47\00:13:32.17 they looked up to the Lord. 00:13:32.21\00:13:33.51 Did the Lord listen to them? 00:13:33.54\00:13:35.51 Amen, they were slaves. 00:13:35.54\00:13:36.88 I have a question. Were we slaves? 00:13:36.91\00:13:38.65 Yes, we were slaves to what? To sin. 00:13:38.68\00:13:42.45 We were born in the condition, just as God's people during this 00:13:42.48\00:13:46.69 time, they had been born under that condition. 00:13:46.72\00:13:48.92 It's all they knew but it became such a burden that they asked 00:13:48.96\00:13:52.49 God for freedom, right? 00:13:52.53\00:13:53.83 And did God send a liberator, yes or no? 00:13:53.86\00:13:56.90 Oh yes, He did. Who did He send? 00:13:56.93\00:13:59.43 He sent Moses, amen? 00:13:59.47\00:14:00.90 Moses, a type of Christ, Moses then comes in. 00:14:00.94\00:14:04.11 Moses wants to what? 00:14:04.14\00:14:05.61 Moses then comes in and part of God to do what? 00:14:05.64\00:14:08.44 To free God's people. 00:14:08.48\00:14:09.58 Were they freed, yes or no? 00:14:09.61\00:14:10.71 Yes or no? 00:14:10.75\00:14:12.08 Oh, yes, through what? 00:14:12.11\00:14:13.15 Through the blood of the Lamb, amen? 00:14:13.18\00:14:14.48 And so as the blood of the Lamb comes in, what happens? 00:14:14.52\00:14:16.48 Then they are taken--they're taken through the Red Sea, which 00:14:16.52\00:14:21.92 is a representation of baptism. 00:14:21.96\00:14:24.83 And then what comes next? 00:14:24.86\00:14:26.16 And then God takes them into the desert and what does He do 00:14:26.19\00:14:28.23 with them? 00:14:28.26\00:14:29.26 He says, "Do you see what I have done for you? 00:14:29.30\00:14:31.17 I am the God of Abraham, I am the God of Isaac, 00:14:31.20\00:14:34.34 I am the God of Jacob, and I want to be your God," amen? 00:14:34.37\00:14:37.84 "I want to be your God. 00:14:37.87\00:14:39.04 I want to--I just showed you what I did because I want to 00:14:39.07\00:14:41.14 keep My covenant with My son, Abraham, 00:14:41.18\00:14:43.98 and I want to be your God. 00:14:44.01\00:14:46.15 I want you to be My people, My bride." 00:14:46.18\00:14:48.42 And they said, "Yes," but what happened immediately? 00:14:48.45\00:14:52.65 What happened immediately after Moses went up to spend that time 00:14:52.69\00:14:55.52 with God in 40 days? 00:14:55.56\00:14:56.52 What did they do? 00:14:56.56\00:14:58.56 They began to worship Egyptian-style, right? 00:14:58.59\00:15:01.83 They had just said, "We're not going to go running into 00:15:01.86\00:15:03.37 idolatry." 00:15:03.40\00:15:04.63 They had just committed to the Ten Commandments, these divine 00:15:04.67\00:15:07.24 principles, but they chose to do what? 00:15:07.27\00:15:10.21 They chose then to follow back in what they knew, right? 00:15:10.24\00:15:13.17 The impatience. 00:15:13.21\00:15:14.04 And whose fault was it? 00:15:14.08\00:15:15.11 Was it their fault? 00:15:15.14\00:15:17.28 Whose fault was it? 00:15:17.31\00:15:18.78 Aaron's fault, right? 00:15:18.81\00:15:20.75 It was Aaron's fault and God--and Moses says, "What have 00:15:20.78\00:15:23.82 you done? What have you taken them to do?" 00:15:23.85\00:15:25.82 Is this, my loved ones, is this story planning to point to us? 00:15:25.85\00:15:29.76 Is God trying to tell us something about worship in the 00:15:29.79\00:15:32.46 end times, right? 00:15:32.49\00:15:33.93 That a leadership is supposed to uphold these principles, these 00:15:33.96\00:15:37.17 divine principles of worship, right? 00:15:37.20\00:15:39.53 Of how it is to serve God, how it is to live for God, how it is 00:15:39.57\00:15:43.27 to follow God and to show and witness to others and so we see 00:15:43.30\00:15:47.14 that God's people did what? 00:15:47.18\00:15:48.38 They veered off because of the leadership and this is not only 00:15:48.41\00:15:50.88 talking about just the pastors and the elders. 00:15:50.91\00:15:53.35 This is also talking about Mom and Dad at home. 00:15:53.38\00:15:55.38 Is everybody with me, right? 00:15:55.42\00:15:56.99 Those principles, go with them, 00:15:57.02\00:15:59.02 because truly, kids come to church for what? 00:15:59.05\00:16:01.19 For maybe a couple hours on Sabbath, maybe an hour during 00:16:01.22\00:16:03.79 the week. 00:16:03.83\00:16:04.86 The real sanctuary, the real church, is where? 00:16:04.89\00:16:07.83 Is in your house. It's at home. 00:16:07.86\00:16:10.30 It's those principles that you have established for them, 00:16:10.33\00:16:12.20 upholding the principles of God and so we see how this veered 00:16:12.23\00:16:15.27 off very quickly. Is everybody with me? 00:16:15.30\00:16:18.51 And so, go with me please to Psalm. 00:16:18.54\00:16:22.34 Let's go to Psalm chapter 115 because in the lesson it uses 00:16:22.38\00:16:26.25 this verse in a very interesting way and I actually, I don't know 00:16:26.28\00:16:28.98 about you, but I never really saw it--saw this verse 00:16:29.02\00:16:33.59 through my studies in Psalms chapter 118. 00:16:33.62\00:16:36.56 We're going to start on verse number 1. 00:16:36.59\00:16:39.29 Psalms 118. 00:16:39.33\00:16:40.70 So we see Egyptian-style worship came in, right? 00:16:40.73\00:16:43.63 And immediately these issues. I have a question. 00:16:43.67\00:16:46.10 Did the same thing happen with the early church? 00:16:46.13\00:16:48.84 Yes or no? Right? 00:16:48.87\00:16:50.91 Christ established the early church. 00:16:50.94\00:16:52.81 We read in the book of Acts, how was the early church? 00:16:52.84\00:16:54.81 Ho, they were fervent for the Lord. 00:16:54.84\00:16:56.91 They were ministering, they were doing the Lord's work, but what 00:16:56.95\00:16:59.21 happened? 00:16:59.25\00:17:00.45 After a while, right, the leadership kind of died out. 00:17:00.48\00:17:03.89 The disciples died out and what led into the church? 00:17:03.92\00:17:06.52 What does Revelation tell us in the second, third, 00:17:06.55\00:17:10.96 and fourth seal? What came in? 00:17:10.99\00:17:12.53 Idolatry came in. 00:17:12.56\00:17:13.80 So when we put these principles aside, when we don't uphold the 00:17:13.83\00:17:17.20 principles of God, when we stop worshiping God, 00:17:17.23\00:17:20.04 when we stop submitting to God, immediately what is going 00:17:20.07\00:17:23.04 to come into our lives? Idolatry. 00:17:23.07\00:17:25.47 In other words, you're going to put something 00:17:25.51\00:17:27.04 or someone before God. 00:17:27.08\00:17:29.28 That's the danger and that's why God puts His Ten Commandments, 00:17:29.31\00:17:32.81 those protections about don't worship, don't follow any other 00:17:32.85\00:17:36.08 god, don't follow, don't put your worship into any other 00:17:36.12\00:17:39.45 thing, because anything that you put before Me is going to lead 00:17:39.49\00:17:42.79 you down to destruction. 00:17:42.82\00:17:43.86 Why? 00:17:43.89\00:17:44.89 Because you're going to be submitting yourself 00:17:44.93\00:17:46.33 to the things of the flesh. 00:17:46.36\00:17:47.86 And this is how it leads. 00:17:47.93\00:17:49.00 And this is what we're looking at. 00:17:49.03\00:17:50.33 Psalms 115. 00:17:50.37\00:17:51.23 Everybody there? 00:17:51.27\00:17:52.50 Verse number 1 says: "Not unto us, O Lord, unto--not unto us, 00:17:52.53\00:17:56.07 but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, 00:17:56.10\00:17:58.97 because of Your truth," amen? 00:17:59.01\00:18:01.38 "Why should the Gentiles say, 'So where is their God?' 00:18:01.41\00:18:04.28 But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. 00:18:04.31\00:18:07.98 Their idols are silver and gold, the works of man hands. 00:18:08.02\00:18:11.39 They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes, 00:18:11.42\00:18:15.02 but they do not--" 00:18:15.06\00:18:15.96 "They have ears, but they do not--" 00:18:15.99\00:18:18.53 "Noses, but they do not--" 00:18:18.56\00:18:20.80 Is everybody with me? 00:18:20.83\00:18:22.23 "They have hands, but they do not handle; feet they have, but 00:18:22.26\00:18:25.33 they do not walk; nor do they mutter through their throat." 00:18:25.37\00:18:28.44 And it says: "Those who make them are like them; so is 00:18:28.47\00:18:32.24 everyone who trusts in them." 00:18:32.27\00:18:34.78 So what is this principle talking about here? 00:18:34.81\00:18:37.51 Is that you will turn into or what you will become what you 00:18:37.55\00:18:41.62 contemplate, right? 00:18:41.65\00:18:43.15 Whatever is your idol, whatever is you--whatever you put if--let 00:18:43.18\00:18:47.09 me put it this way. 00:18:47.12\00:18:48.32 Anything that you put before God, whether it be a person or 00:18:48.36\00:18:50.69 whether it be a thing, that is your idol. 00:18:50.73\00:18:52.76 And you will contemplate that, you will become that. 00:18:52.79\00:18:55.96 That's psychology 101. 00:18:56.00\00:18:57.53 What you contemplate is what you will become. 00:18:57.57\00:19:00.50 And so God puts these limitations. 00:19:00.54\00:19:03.07 When God puts these Ten Commandments, when He puts these 00:19:03.10\00:19:05.51 holy principles, it's to protect us from falling into idolatry. 00:19:05.54\00:19:09.31 Is everybody with me? 00:19:09.34\00:19:10.55 It's to protect us from our own carnal nature and when we see 00:19:10.58\00:19:13.65 this, that's--those are the principles and so when we talk 00:19:13.68\00:19:16.45 about why do we worship God, why do we worship God? 00:19:16.48\00:19:20.36 The lesson tells us very clearly in the lesson title. 00:19:20.39\00:19:22.42 Because He is what? Is that the only reason? 00:19:22.46\00:19:25.73 Is that the only reason we worship God, because of 00:19:25.76\00:19:28.40 creation? No, why else? 00:19:28.43\00:19:29.90 Because of redemption, right? 00:19:29.93\00:19:32.40 It was talked about in a couple of lessons ago. 00:19:32.43\00:19:34.74 Deuteronomy chapter 5 when it gives the Ten Commandments, 00:19:34.77\00:19:37.77 especially specifically the Sabbath. 00:19:37.81\00:19:38.94 It talks about why? 00:19:38.97\00:19:39.81 Because You have redeemed us. 00:19:39.84\00:19:40.88 How? 00:19:40.91\00:19:41.81 With a strong arm, with open arms, amen? 00:19:41.84\00:19:44.45 Have we been redeemed through Christ, extending His arms and 00:19:44.48\00:19:47.18 putting Himself on Calvary, yes or no? 00:19:47.22\00:19:49.25 And so we worship because of creation. 00:19:49.28\00:19:51.29 Who wants to thank God for creating us? 00:19:51.32\00:19:53.49 Let me see, raise your hand. 00:19:53.52\00:19:54.59 Praise the Lord, I do too. 00:19:54.62\00:19:55.79 Who wants to thank Christ for redeeming us? 00:19:55.82\00:19:58.63 Amen, but you know that's not the only reason. 00:19:58.66\00:20:00.70 The other reason why is because of sanctification. 00:20:00.73\00:20:03.33 Do you know that? 00:20:03.37\00:20:04.57 It says that He is a--it is a seal, a sign, that He is our God 00:20:04.60\00:20:08.44 because He has sanctified us, amen? 00:20:08.47\00:20:10.71 Who wants to thank God for sanctification? 00:20:10.74\00:20:12.67 Whoo, because sanctification, my loved ones, is what gets us to 00:20:12.71\00:20:16.38 be ready to live in the presence of God, amen? 00:20:16.41\00:20:19.81 And it's not only because of creation. 00:20:19.85\00:20:21.35 Not only because of redemption, not only because of 00:20:21.38\00:20:23.42 sanctification but also because of glorification, amen? 00:20:23.45\00:20:26.12 Because in Isaiah chapter 66, when you read verses 22 and 33, 00:20:26.15\00:20:29.39 it says that from Sabbath, from new month to month to month and 00:20:29.42\00:20:33.40 from Sabbath to Sabbath we shall what? 00:20:33.43\00:20:35.80 "In the new heavens and the new earth we shall all come to 00:20:35.83\00:20:39.13 worship Him," amen? 00:20:39.17\00:20:40.37 And it's because of what? 00:20:40.40\00:20:42.00 Because of what He has. 00:20:42.04\00:20:43.24 We're worshiping for the past, because of the present, and 00:20:43.27\00:20:46.44 because of the future, amen? 00:20:46.47\00:20:48.11 And so these are great reasons, amen? 00:20:48.14\00:20:50.11 Amen? 00:20:50.15\00:20:52.81 Now, there's an issue. 00:20:52.85\00:20:53.92 The devil knows this and so what does the devil do? 00:20:53.95\00:20:57.39 He tries to what? 00:20:57.42\00:20:59.32 He tries to distort God's plan. 00:20:59.35\00:21:02.62 He tries to deviate us from God's plan. Why? 00:21:02.66\00:21:05.69 Because he knows that if we deviate from these principles, 00:21:05.73\00:21:08.43 if we deviate from this foundation of God, worshiping 00:21:08.46\00:21:11.93 God, submitting our lives, giving our lives over as God is 00:21:11.97\00:21:14.87 our creator, then what happens? 00:21:14.90\00:21:17.01 Then he knows were going to automatically fall into idolatry 00:21:17.04\00:21:19.67 because only God can protect us from the ways of the flesh, only 00:21:19.71\00:21:23.21 God can sustain us. 00:21:23.24\00:21:24.41 Is everybody with me, amen? 00:21:24.45\00:21:25.45 And so what happens? Go with me. 00:21:25.48\00:21:27.55 I want to show you something fascinating. 00:21:27.58\00:21:29.18 Romans chapter 1. 00:21:29.22\00:21:30.35 Go with me to Romans chapter 1. 00:21:30.39\00:21:32.42 I want to show you how this plays out in Scripture and 00:21:32.45\00:21:34.99 especially how this leads because, my loved ones, if we do 00:21:35.02\00:21:37.93 not submit to God, if we do not give ourselves over to God, then 00:21:37.96\00:21:42.06 we are in danger of following in the ways of the flesh and the 00:21:42.10\00:21:46.00 ways of the flesh are what? 00:21:46.03\00:21:48.40 What are the ways of the flesh? 00:21:48.44\00:21:50.14 Death. 00:21:50.17\00:21:51.11 Look at Romans chapter 1. 00:21:51.14\00:21:52.47 Watch the enemy's plan. 00:21:52.51\00:21:54.41 Paul saw this. 00:21:54.44\00:21:55.48 He saw it coming and look at how Paul so masterfully 00:21:55.51\00:21:58.55 breaks this down. 00:21:58.58\00:21:59.68 Romans chapter 1. 00:21:59.71\00:22:00.78 Everybody there? 00:22:00.82\00:22:02.15 Verse number 18: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven 00:22:02.18\00:22:06.86 against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men," and 00:22:06.89\00:22:10.23 women, who do what? 00:22:10.26\00:22:11.93 "Who suppress the truth in unrighteousness." 00:22:11.96\00:22:14.00 Now, what is this truth that is being suppressed that Paul is 00:22:14.03\00:22:17.40 talking about? 00:22:17.43\00:22:18.23 Look at what it says in verse 19. 00:22:18.27\00:22:19.97 "Because what may be known of God is manifested in them, for 00:22:20.00\00:22:24.41 God has shown it to them." 00:22:24.44\00:22:25.87 What has God shown us? 00:22:25.91\00:22:27.61 What has God manifested to us that is being suppressed, that 00:22:27.64\00:22:30.78 is being put aside? 00:22:30.81\00:22:32.01 Here it is, verse 20: "For since the creation of the world His 00:22:32.05\00:22:35.68 invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the 00:22:35.72\00:22:39.52 things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so 00:22:39.55\00:22:44.26 that they are," what? 00:22:44.29\00:22:45.49 "So they are without excuse." 00:22:45.53\00:22:48.06 So what is it making reference? 00:22:48.10\00:22:49.13 What is Paul pointing to? 00:22:49.16\00:22:50.23 He's pointing to people that do what? 00:22:50.27\00:22:52.60 They don't want to look, they don't want to give God credit 00:22:52.63\00:22:54.80 for being what? The creator, right? 00:22:54.84\00:22:56.24 And that's what the devil's plan is. 00:22:56.27\00:22:58.17 He says, "If I can keep their focus away, if I can make them 00:22:58.21\00:23:02.01 think that they can be Christians, that they can honor 00:23:02.04\00:23:04.75 God and worship God, and pull away that concept of God as 00:23:04.78\00:23:08.65 their creator, as God as their foundation, and Paul says what? 00:23:08.68\00:23:11.05 The evidence is so clear. 00:23:11.09\00:23:12.42 It's abundantly clear, what? 00:23:12.45\00:23:14.02 Through the things that we see, amen? 00:23:14.06\00:23:15.56 Through the things that we see it is very clear that 00:23:15.59\00:23:18.36 there is a God. 00:23:18.39\00:23:19.73 I--I don't know if most of you know, 00:23:19.76\00:23:21.36 but I used to be an atheist. 00:23:21.40\00:23:22.76 I didn't believe in God. 00:23:22.80\00:23:24.77 And when people asked me, "What made you to believe in God?" 00:23:24.80\00:23:27.40 do you know what I tell them? "Science. 00:23:27.44\00:23:28.90 Science is what made me believe in God." 00:23:28.94\00:23:30.11 And people say, "What? 00:23:30.14\00:23:31.17 That's crazy because I thought science says no." 00:23:31.21\00:23:32.31 Science, when I studied science, the brain, biology, the 00:23:32.34\00:23:35.91 universe, the ecosystems, everything, is order and logic. 00:23:35.94\00:23:41.15 And I said, "This has to come from someplace." 00:23:41.18\00:23:44.95 Is everybody with me? 00:23:44.99\00:23:46.22 And this--it took me a long time, it wasn't overnight, 00:23:46.25\00:23:48.52 trust me. 00:23:48.56\00:23:49.79 Took me a number of years but eventually science is what got 00:23:49.82\00:23:52.26 me to believe that there is something supernatural 00:23:52.29\00:23:55.13 in the world. Does everybody follow me? 00:23:55.16\00:23:57.27 Now, a lot of people say, "Oh, but science disproved God." 00:23:57.30\00:23:59.90 I'm sorry, but science cannot disprove God. 00:23:59.93\00:24:02.27 Why? 00:24:02.30\00:24:03.44 Because science is the study of the natural world, hmm? 00:24:03.47\00:24:07.24 What is science? 00:24:07.28\00:24:08.51 The study of the natural world, and if God is supernatural, then 00:24:08.54\00:24:13.82 that means that science is not capable of pointing to God 00:24:13.85\00:24:17.39 because that's not the purpose of science. 00:24:17.42\00:24:20.86 Is everybody following me? 00:24:20.89\00:24:22.42 So how are we going to use something to measure God when 00:24:22.46\00:24:25.19 it's inept, it's not capable of the supernatural? 00:24:25.23\00:24:28.06 It would be like me trying to use a ruler to measure how much 00:24:28.10\00:24:31.93 air is in the tires of my car. 00:24:31.97\00:24:34.40 Is it going to work? 00:24:34.44\00:24:35.84 No, that's not what the purpose of the ruler is. 00:24:35.87\00:24:37.84 Science cannot prove God because God is supernatural. 00:24:37.87\00:24:41.24 He is above it. 00:24:41.28\00:24:42.24 Is everybody with me? 00:24:42.28\00:24:43.58 And so this is what we're seeing. 00:24:43.61\00:24:44.98 Let's continue to read because this is fascinating. 00:24:45.01\00:24:47.15 It continues to say, Romans chapter 1, verse number 21: 00:24:47.18\00:24:50.69 "Because, though they know God, they did not glorify Him as God, 00:24:50.72\00:24:53.92 nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, 00:24:53.96\00:24:56.86 and their foolish hearts were darkened. 00:24:56.89\00:24:58.73 Professing to be wise, they became," what? 00:24:58.76\00:25:01.03 Why? 00:25:01.06\00:25:02.13 Because they don't want to recognize God as what? 00:25:02.16\00:25:04.57 As the creator. 00:25:04.60\00:25:05.83 "And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into a image 00:25:05.87\00:25:09.47 made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals 00:25:09.50\00:25:13.01 and creeping things." Let's stop here for a minute. 00:25:13.04\00:25:15.18 Instead of man giving honor and worshiping God and giving Him 00:25:15.21\00:25:19.01 the praise and glory for being our creator, it says here that 00:25:19.05\00:25:21.42 they were looking at what? 00:25:21.45\00:25:23.22 "At corruptible things," at us. 00:25:23.25\00:25:25.12 I like to say, "God created man and women in His image and 00:25:25.15\00:25:28.69 likeliness and after sin we have given back the same favor," 00:25:28.72\00:25:34.50 right? 00:25:34.56\00:25:35.73 Doesn't translate in English so well but in Spanish it sounds 00:25:35.76\00:25:37.23 really nice. 00:25:37.27\00:25:38.67 What it means is that God created us in His image and 00:25:38.70\00:25:41.67 likeness and after sin what are we doing? 00:25:41.70\00:25:43.24 We're creating God in our fallen image and likeliness, right? 00:25:43.27\00:25:46.11 We're wanting God to be like us so why? 00:25:46.14\00:25:47.91 So it's comfortable. 00:25:47.94\00:25:49.21 So it's not--so we say, "You know what? 00:25:49.24\00:25:51.31 I can live the way I want to live, I can live in the ways of 00:25:51.35\00:25:53.45 the flesh." 00:25:53.48\00:25:54.58 That's just fine because God is like that too, right? 00:25:54.62\00:25:57.19 And so this is what humanity is doing. 00:25:57.22\00:25:59.29 This is what it's pointing to and look at how it goes. 00:25:59.32\00:26:01.32 We not only stop worshiping God the creator but now we're 00:26:01.36\00:26:03.76 looking at the earth and the things that were created. 00:26:03.79\00:26:05.79 Verse 24: "Therefore also--God also gave them unto 00:26:05.83\00:26:09.20 uncleanliness, in the lusts of their," what? 00:26:09.23\00:26:12.27 "Their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who 00:26:12.30\00:26:15.57 exchanged the truth of God for a lie," and what did they worship? 00:26:15.60\00:26:19.81 "Worshiped and served," what? 00:26:19.84\00:26:22.21 "Creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever, 00:26:22.24\00:26:26.65 amen." 00:26:26.68\00:26:27.58 So what did humanity start to do? 00:26:27.62\00:26:29.15 Instead of worshiping God as the creator, 00:26:29.18\00:26:31.29 what did they start to worship? 00:26:31.32\00:26:33.82 Creation. 00:26:33.86\00:26:34.86 I have a question. 00:26:34.89\00:26:35.86 How is this theory manifested now in society? 00:26:35.89\00:26:40.16 How is it that human beings are not giving worshiping and 00:26:40.20\00:26:43.00 honoring God as their creator but worshiping creation? 00:26:43.03\00:26:46.10 What is that theory called? 00:26:46.13\00:26:48.20 Evolution, thank you. 00:26:48.24\00:26:49.50 Evolution. 00:26:49.54\00:26:51.01 Isn't that what evolution is? 00:26:51.04\00:26:52.81 Oh, we didn't come from God, we came from what? 00:26:52.84\00:26:54.84 We evolved from some cosmic, right, 00:26:54.88\00:27:00.78 some cosmic mucus that became a tadpole, and then it became 00:27:00.82\00:27:04.19 a fish, and then it became a lizard and then an ape 00:27:04.22\00:27:07.72 and that's how we came up from. 00:27:07.76\00:27:09.16 This--isn't that what Paul is talking about? 00:27:09.19\00:27:10.93 What happens? 00:27:10.96\00:27:12.06 That's why the devil is so tricky because he's taken 00:27:12.09\00:27:14.36 humanity to think we don't need to have God as a creator. 00:27:14.40\00:27:17.57 We've got to not create and by automatically pushing us away 00:27:17.60\00:27:20.60 from looking and focusing on God as the creator, what happens is 00:27:20.64\00:27:23.41 that we start to what? 00:27:23.44\00:27:24.64 We fall into idolatry. 00:27:24.67\00:27:26.51 We fall into the ways of the lusts of the flesh 00:27:26.54\00:27:28.84 and we start what? Focusing on us. 00:27:28.88\00:27:30.61 And if you start looking at us and looking at creation, 00:27:30.65\00:27:32.28 you can justify anything. 00:27:32.31\00:27:34.02 Anything you can justify and that's why we have all of this 00:27:34.05\00:27:37.42 confusion in this world. 00:27:37.45\00:27:39.75 Look at what it continues to say. 00:27:39.79\00:27:41.16 It says in verse number 26: "For this reason God gave them up to 00:27:41.19\00:27:45.03 vile passions. 00:27:45.06\00:27:46.43 For even their woman exchanged the natural use for what is," 00:27:46.46\00:27:48.93 what? "Against nature. 00:27:48.96\00:27:50.77 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, 00:27:50.80\00:27:53.17 burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing 00:27:53.20\00:27:57.07 what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of 00:27:57.11\00:27:59.91 their error which is due." 00:27:59.94\00:28:01.11 And you can continue to read. 00:28:01.14\00:28:02.11 You know the story. 00:28:02.14\00:28:03.35 It's basically saying when we keep our focus off of worshiping 00:28:03.38\00:28:07.15 God, honoring God, as the creator, what happens? 00:28:07.18\00:28:10.45 We start to fall in the most vile and lustful beliefs 00:28:10.49\00:28:13.89 of the flesh. 00:28:13.92\00:28:14.99 And amongst those it's talking about evolution, right? 00:28:15.02\00:28:18.06 And there are people that look at evolution and they say, 00:28:18.09\00:28:19.96 "Well." 00:28:20.00\00:28:20.96 And it's also talking about what? 00:28:21.00\00:28:22.30 It's also talking about homosexuality, right? 00:28:22.33\00:28:25.37 Now, does God love the sinner? 00:28:25.40\00:28:28.67 Amen, right? We're all on that boat, right? 00:28:28.70\00:28:32.24 But God hates sin. 00:28:32.27\00:28:33.64 And so we're called to what? 00:28:33.68\00:28:35.88 To move away from sin but what is the justification? 00:28:35.91\00:28:38.41 "Oh, no, this is how we are. 00:28:38.45\00:28:39.51 This is how he made us. 00:28:39.55\00:28:40.58 C'mon, we see it in nature. 00:28:40.62\00:28:42.68 We see animals doing homosexual acts too." 00:28:42.72\00:28:44.65 Are you following me? 00:28:44.69\00:28:45.69 We're not putting God in His place. 00:28:45.72\00:28:47.96 We're not telling Him and putting those principles and 00:28:47.99\00:28:50.16 that automatically will lead into idolatry in the mind 00:28:50.19\00:28:53.63 and in the being. Is everybody following me? 00:28:53.66\00:28:55.60 Is everybody with me? 00:28:55.63\00:28:56.87 And we see in this connection and how the devil is trying to 00:28:56.90\00:28:59.00 play off, trick us. 00:28:59.03\00:29:00.30 Look at what it says here in a quote from "Great Controversy." 00:29:00.34\00:29:02.94 It said, "It is a law both of the intellectual and 00:29:02.97\00:29:06.47 the spiritual nature that by beholding, we become changed. 00:29:06.51\00:29:10.71 The mind gradually adapts itself to the subjects upon which it is 00:29:10.75\00:29:13.75 allowed to dwell. 00:29:13.78\00:29:14.92 It becomes assimilated to that which it is accustomed to. 00:29:14.95\00:29:17.52 Love and reference. 00:29:17.55\00:29:20.32 Love and reference, I'm sorry. 00:29:20.36\00:29:21.42 To which it is accustomed to love and reference." 00:29:21.46\00:29:23.79 I didn't say that right. Let me read that again. 00:29:23.83\00:29:25.29 "It becomes assimilated to that which it is accustomed to love 00:29:25.33\00:29:28.70 and reverence." 00:29:28.73\00:29:30.23 So what you love and reverence, that's what's going to appear. 00:29:30.27\00:29:33.17 Have you ever seen somebody that looks like their car? 00:29:33.20\00:29:35.20 Actually, I know people that worship their car. 00:29:37.67\00:29:39.47 It's all about their car, all the money, everything is about 00:29:39.51\00:29:42.24 their car. 00:29:42.28\00:29:43.35 And it gets to a point where they look like their car. 00:29:43.38\00:29:46.25 Men will never rise higher than his standard of purity or 00:29:46.28\00:29:49.25 goodness or truth. 00:29:49.28\00:29:50.45 It is self in his loftiest ideal, he will never attain to 00:29:50.49\00:29:54.66 anything more exalted. 00:29:54.69\00:29:56.19 So if this is the image that you have, then that's how high your 00:29:56.22\00:29:59.93 standards and your principles are going to go. 00:29:59.96\00:30:01.70 Is everybody with me? 00:30:01.73\00:30:02.80 But the grace of God alone has power to exalt man. 00:30:02.83\00:30:05.57 Left to himself his course must inevitably be downwards. 00:30:05.60\00:30:11.67 Are you following me? 00:30:11.71\00:30:12.91 And so the devil knows this. 00:30:12.94\00:30:14.11 The devil understands this perfectly and that's what he's 00:30:14.14\00:30:16.14 trying to take us to. 00:30:16.18\00:30:17.21 Go with me please to Deuteronomy chapter 10. 00:30:17.25\00:30:19.95 Deuteronomy chapter 10. 00:30:19.98\00:30:21.42 Now, in the context of the lesson, does this have to do 00:30:21.45\00:30:24.95 also with our service, right? 00:30:24.99\00:30:27.36 Some people say, you know, ministering and servicing to 00:30:27.39\00:30:31.89 others is part--is a part of our worship. 00:30:31.93\00:30:35.90 No, it is worship because, remember, worship is not just 00:30:35.93\00:30:41.10 doing x or y. 00:30:41.14\00:30:42.30 Worship is what? 00:30:42.34\00:30:43.27 What did we show worship to be? 00:30:43.30\00:30:44.47 A total submission to God's will. 00:30:44.51\00:30:48.04 And so in God's will, we see that service to others in the 00:30:48.08\00:30:51.21 same way that God served us should be the ideal or the 00:30:51.25\00:30:54.48 principle that is brought forth when you have known and given 00:30:54.52\00:30:58.09 your life over to God, amen? 00:30:58.12\00:31:00.12 Because in the same way that He has done for us, we were slaves, 00:31:00.16\00:31:03.96 we were foreigners, we were dead in our lusts and in our flesh. 00:31:03.99\00:31:08.80 God sent His Son, amen, to do what? 00:31:08.83\00:31:11.60 To save us, to bring us up, to show us what it means to live a 00:31:11.63\00:31:16.10 holy righteous life in the Spirit. 00:31:16.14\00:31:18.47 And so because he has served us, automatically what should we be 00:31:18.51\00:31:21.64 doing? 00:31:21.68\00:31:22.91 Serving others that were in our same condition, in our unsaved, 00:31:22.94\00:31:27.48 fleshly, live condition. 00:31:27.52\00:31:29.28 Is everybody with me? 00:31:29.32\00:31:30.55 And so what happens is, let's go to Deuteronomy chapter 10. 00:31:30.59\00:31:33.79 What happens is, my loved ones, is that now we understand why 00:31:33.82\00:31:36.19 the devil attacks the Sabbath. 00:31:36.22\00:31:38.33 Why? 00:31:38.36\00:31:39.56 Because if you take away the Sabbath, what does the Sabbath 00:31:39.59\00:31:41.73 point to? 00:31:41.76\00:31:43.73 Creation, worshiping Christ as what? 00:31:43.77\00:31:46.57 As the creator. 00:31:46.60\00:31:47.80 And so the devil says, "If I can take the Sabbath away, then I 00:31:47.84\00:31:49.94 can take their focus away from Christ as their creator and then 00:31:49.97\00:31:54.01 what? 00:31:54.04\00:31:55.14 And then I could do anything I want with them, right? 00:31:55.18\00:31:56.31 Because they've left the door open for me to come in." 00:31:56.34\00:31:59.41 Look at Deuteronomy chapter 17: "For the Lord your God is God of 00:31:59.45\00:32:04.39 gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, 00:32:04.42\00:32:08.29 who shows no," what? 00:32:08.32\00:32:10.86 Who shows no what? 00:32:10.89\00:32:13.13 Should we be showing partiality towards others? 00:32:13.16\00:32:14.93 No, God wasn't impartial with us, amen? 00:32:14.93\00:32:19.40 God was what? 00:32:19.43\00:32:20.54 God was pointing to us directly, amen. 00:32:20.57\00:32:22.80 He didn't say, "Look at these people." 00:32:22.84\00:32:24.57 He sent His only begotten Son, amen? 00:32:24.61\00:32:28.21 I'm glad that when I started my Christian walk, somebody did not 00:32:28.24\00:32:31.51 look at me because I did get the looks when I got into church 00:32:31.55\00:32:34.68 because before I became a Christian ten years ago, 00:32:34.72\00:32:37.29 whoo-hoo! 00:32:37.32\00:32:38.42 Piercings all over the place, tattoos, ripped jeans. 00:32:38.45\00:32:42.12 I was all over the place. 00:32:42.16\00:32:45.13 And they--people looked at me. They looked at me, eugh. 00:32:45.16\00:32:48.76 "This guy--eugh, this kid ain't going nowhere." 00:32:48.80\00:32:50.33 But I'm glad that as God does not show partiality, so was I 00:32:50.37\00:32:55.84 not showing partiality, amen? 00:32:55.87\00:32:57.67 And I was received and accept the same. 00:32:57.71\00:32:59.21 They didn't see me for who I was. 00:32:59.24\00:33:00.91 They saw me for who I was going to become in Christ. 00:33:00.94\00:33:03.71 "He administers justice for the fatherless and the widows, and 00:33:03.75\00:33:08.62 loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing. 00:33:08.65\00:33:10.69 Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land 00:33:10.72\00:33:13.92 of Egypt. 00:33:13.96\00:33:15.12 You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him, and do 00:33:15.16\00:33:18.29 Him--and to Him you shall," what? 00:33:18.33\00:33:20.96 "Hold fast, and take oaths in His name. 00:33:20.96\00:33:24.67 He is your praise, He is your God, who has done for you these 00:33:24.70\00:33:28.50 great and awesome things which you--" which you what? 00:33:28.54\00:33:33.48 "Which you have seen with your own eyes." 00:33:33.51\00:33:35.91 I have a question. 00:33:35.94\00:33:36.91 Have you seen the glory of God in your life? 00:33:36.95\00:33:39.48 Have you been witness to the glory of God in your life? 00:33:39.51\00:33:42.02 Then you are not the same person because when God touches you, 00:33:42.05\00:33:45.72 when God comes into your life, you can't be the same. 00:33:45.75\00:33:48.72 "Your fathers went down to Egypt with 70 persons, and now the 00:33:48.76\00:33:55.40 Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven in 00:33:55.43\00:33:58.00 multitude," amen? 00:33:58.03\00:33:59.47 And so it's pointing to, again, it's just giving honor to God as 00:33:59.50\00:34:04.47 our creator but also because he is a God of what? 00:34:04.51\00:34:07.14 He is a just God, amen? 00:34:07.18\00:34:09.01 He is a righteous God. 00:34:09.04\00:34:10.21 He is a holy God. 00:34:10.25\00:34:11.65 And in that context, it's clearly pointing to what? 00:34:11.68\00:34:15.08 To serving others, amen? 00:34:15.12\00:34:16.55 To love for others. 00:34:16.58\00:34:17.72 What are the two--what are the--how many table commandments 00:34:17.75\00:34:21.22 do we have? We have how many? 00:34:21.26\00:34:22.86 Ten Commandments divided in how many tablets? 00:34:22.89\00:34:24.73 Two. Why two tablets? 00:34:24.76\00:34:26.70 'Cause when God was writing the first tablet, He ran out of 00:34:26.73\00:34:29.13 space and, "Hey, give Me another tablet. 00:34:29.16\00:34:30.47 C'mon, I'm running out of space." 00:34:30.50\00:34:31.80 No, why? 00:34:31.83\00:34:33.47 Because the first commandment, the first tablet, 00:34:33.50\00:34:35.30 has to do with what? 00:34:35.34\00:34:36.20 Our worship towards. 00:34:36.24\00:34:37.37 But the second commandment also has to do with our worship 00:34:37.41\00:34:40.94 towards God, right? 00:34:40.98\00:34:42.14 But our responsibility and commitment to who? 00:34:42.18\00:34:44.48 To others, amen? 00:34:44.51\00:34:46.82 And so that's why when you see in the Gospels, you see when 00:34:46.85\00:34:48.75 Christ comes along, He doesn't focus too much on the first 00:34:48.78\00:34:52.52 tablet, if you're noticed. 00:34:52.55\00:34:53.79 He does touch on the fourth one, the Sabbath, because of what it 00:34:53.82\00:34:55.72 had become. 00:34:55.76\00:34:56.56 But really, Christ focuses on what? 00:34:56.59\00:34:58.53 On the aspect of loving your neighbor. 00:34:58.56\00:35:00.86 He consistently is pushing them. 00:35:00.90\00:35:02.60 Why? 00:35:02.63\00:35:03.80 Because they had become so legalistic, they had become so 00:35:03.83\00:35:05.97 full of themselves, they had become so adapted as Isaiah as 00:35:06.00\00:35:09.24 we see in the lesson, to the ritual and the practices and 00:35:09.27\00:35:12.01 they thought that that was the end and not knowing that that 00:35:12.04\00:35:14.78 was a mean to the end, who was Christ, amen? 00:35:14.81\00:35:17.21 All of those things were pointing to Christ but they 00:35:17.25\00:35:20.48 thought it, what? 00:35:20.52\00:35:21.38 By them fulfilling it, they were what? 00:35:21.42\00:35:23.72 Oh, they will--and they forgot what? 00:35:23.75\00:35:25.65 They forgot the most basic and elemental part of what? 00:35:25.69\00:35:28.92 Of loving your neighbor. 00:35:28.96\00:35:30.16 Because how is it that we can love God who we have not seen if 00:35:30.19\00:35:34.60 we don't love our neighbors who we do see? 00:35:34.63\00:35:37.40 Isn't that a principle in the Bible? 00:35:37.43\00:35:39.07 Go with me, Romans chapter 13. 00:35:39.10\00:35:40.60 Go with me. I'm sorry, 1 John. 00:35:40.64\00:35:42.24 I wanted to show you this. 00:35:42.27\00:35:43.07 1 John. 00:35:43.10\00:35:44.24 This is the foundation, my loved ones, of our worship. 00:35:44.27\00:35:47.21 And our worship leads us into automatically a unique and a 00:35:47.24\00:35:52.18 distinct perspective of our neighbors are those that are 00:35:52.21\00:35:55.95 around us. 00:35:55.98\00:35:56.85 We're not here in a vacuum. 00:35:56.89\00:35:58.52 We're not here sitting down, just putting on the seatbelt and 00:35:58.55\00:36:01.02 hitting cruise control, waiting for Christ to come. 00:36:01.06\00:36:03.86 We have a job. 00:36:03.89\00:36:04.89 1 John chapter 4. 00:36:04.93\00:36:09.30 Who's there? 00:36:09.33\00:36:10.13 1 John chapter 4. 00:36:10.17\00:36:11.77 1 John chapter 4. 00:36:11.80\00:36:13.40 It says--we're going to start on verse number 7. 00:36:13.44\00:36:17.07 Look at this: "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is 00:36:17.11\00:36:20.41 of--and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 00:36:20.44\00:36:24.75 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 00:36:24.78\00:36:29.48 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God 00:36:29.52\00:36:32.75 has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might 00:36:32.79\00:36:35.12 live through Him." Now watch this. 00:36:35.16\00:36:37.96 This verse--this verse number 10--the 9 is amazing; 10 is 00:36:37.99\00:36:42.00 just--it should shake us to the bones. 00:36:42.03\00:36:44.37 "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us 00:36:44.40\00:36:48.57 and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins," 00:36:48.60\00:36:52.24 amen? 00:36:52.27\00:36:53.14 "By this we know that we--" I'm sorry. 00:36:53.17\00:36:56.95 "Beloved, if God so loved us, then we also ought to," what? 00:36:56.98\00:37:01.82 "Love others." 00:37:01.85\00:37:04.62 It's--you can't take it apart. 00:37:04.65\00:37:06.42 That's why when people say, "Oh, ministry is part of our walk." 00:37:06.45\00:37:10.16 No, it is. 00:37:10.19\00:37:11.39 It's the express manifestation of the love for God is what? 00:37:11.43\00:37:16.26 Is a love for one another. 00:37:16.30\00:37:17.50 It's a ministering to one another. 00:37:17.53\00:37:19.83 It's the sharing to one another. 00:37:19.87\00:37:21.17 It's the seeing where I came from and how now God has used me 00:37:21.20\00:37:25.01 and changed and transformed me and I want to be that same 00:37:25.04\00:37:28.01 instrument to others, amen? 00:37:28.04\00:37:31.68 And that's what it's pointing to. 00:37:31.71\00:37:33.01 That's why it says--go with me to Romans chapter 13. 00:37:33.05\00:37:35.48 Romans chapter 13. 00:37:35.52\00:37:36.79 These are profound principles, my loved ones. 00:37:36.82\00:37:39.15 You cannot--I'm looking for the word in English. 00:37:39.19\00:37:41.19 I'm thinking in Spanish. 00:37:41.22\00:37:42.36 As you know, I've already mentioned to you, I think in 00:37:42.39\00:37:43.63 Spanish but I'm translating in English and so, good for you, 00:37:43.66\00:37:46.33 because that way I speak slower. 00:37:46.36\00:37:48.33 In Spanish I'm like a machine gun, right? 00:37:50.53\00:37:53.60 Romans chapter 13, right? 00:37:53.64\00:37:55.67 You can't separate. That's the word. 00:37:55.70\00:37:57.21 You can't separate the love for God from the love for others, 00:37:57.24\00:37:59.94 and when you love others you will minister, you will treat 00:38:00.04\00:38:03.04 them, you will reach out to them. 00:38:03.08\00:38:04.65 You will love them. 00:38:04.68\00:38:05.95 Romans chapter 13. 00:38:05.98\00:38:06.85 Who's there? 00:38:06.88\00:38:08.08 Look at verse number 8: "Owe no one anything except to," what? 00:38:08.12\00:38:12.22 "To love one another, for he who loves another has," what? 00:38:12.25\00:38:15.19 "Fulfilled the law. 00:38:15.22\00:38:17.33 For the commandment says, 'You shall not commit adultery,' 'You 00:38:17.36\00:38:20.46 shall not murder,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not bear 00:38:20.50\00:38:22.90 false witness,' 'You shall not covet,' and if there is any 00:38:22.93\00:38:25.57 other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, 'You 00:38:25.60\00:38:28.17 shall love your neighbor as yourself,' love does no harm to 00:38:28.20\00:38:32.57 the neighbor; therefore the love is the," what? 00:38:32.61\00:38:34.84 "The fulfillment of the law," amen? 00:38:34.88\00:38:37.18 So how do we love our neighbors? 00:38:37.21\00:38:38.51 That second table, right? 00:38:38.55\00:38:40.02 It's that second perspective. 00:38:40.05\00:38:42.75 But that only happens, my loved ones, when we have a transformed 00:38:42.78\00:38:44.82 heart. 00:38:44.85\00:38:45.99 That's why when you go to Matthew chapter 25, when it 00:38:46.02\00:38:47.29 talks about the separating, right, of the lamb--of the lambs 00:38:47.32\00:38:50.63 and the goats in English, right? And what happens? 00:38:50.66\00:38:52.89 He says to the lambs, "Oh, you fed Me, you took care of Me, you 00:38:52.93\00:38:57.27 gave Me food, you gave Me water, you visit Me in prison," and 00:38:57.30\00:39:00.30 what did they say? "When? 00:39:00.34\00:39:01.64 When would we do that, Lord?" 00:39:01.67\00:39:03.84 And He said, "When you did it to one of My little ones," right? 00:39:03.87\00:39:07.41 It's the expression, the manifestation, of the love of 00:39:07.44\00:39:09.81 God in us is manifested through the love of God to others. 00:39:09.84\00:39:12.71 But this is not human because we are selfish. 00:39:12.75\00:39:16.12 Is everybody following me? 00:39:16.15\00:39:17.69 So this has to be a transforming power of God working in us. 00:39:17.72\00:39:21.42 And it's by contemplating, by looking at Him, by pointing to 00:39:21.46\00:39:25.09 Him, by keeping Him as the focus and His power, His Spirit, 00:39:25.13\00:39:28.56 working through us, then we can minister to others as He has 00:39:28.60\00:39:31.27 ministered to us, amen? 00:39:31.30\00:39:32.37 But what happens in the time of Isaiah, right? 00:39:32.40\00:39:36.54 They were saved from Egypt, amen? 00:39:36.57\00:39:39.24 Saved from Egypt. 00:39:39.27\00:39:40.48 They were taken, they were given a little pow-pow lesson in the 00:39:40.51\00:39:43.01 desert because they didn't get it so for 40 years God what? 00:39:43.04\00:39:46.41 God had to let that generation go and restart, right? 00:39:46.45\00:39:49.08 It was a restart, reboot, His people through giving him the 00:39:49.12\00:39:52.45 law again. But then what happens? 00:39:52.49\00:39:54.42 Then, as they start to establish as a kingdom, then comes the 00:39:54.46\00:39:57.23 time of Isaiah. 00:39:57.26\00:39:58.19 Go with me please to the times of Isaiah, whoo. 00:39:58.23\00:40:00.56 And that's kind of where the lesson left off last week in the 00:40:00.60\00:40:03.60 book of Isaiah. 00:40:03.63\00:40:04.50 Let's go with me to chapter 1. 00:40:04.53\00:40:06.53 Isaiah chapter 1, and we're going to go to verse number 10. 00:40:06.57\00:40:11.11 And now when we read this, remember I've--I think I've 00:40:11.14\00:40:13.34 mentioned this to you. 00:40:13.38\00:40:14.48 When we read these things, please read it as if it's 00:40:14.51\00:40:18.15 happening to us. 00:40:18.18\00:40:19.18 This is talking about us. 00:40:19.21\00:40:21.32 This is talking about our times because these things will what? 00:40:21.35\00:40:24.62 These things will happen again, my loved ones. 00:40:24.65\00:40:26.32 They're not here just to say, "Wow, these people during the 00:40:26.35\00:40:28.66 times of Isaiah, they were terrible. 00:40:28.69\00:40:30.36 Whoo, good thing we're not like that." 00:40:30.39\00:40:34.63 The reason it's here is because history repeats itself, and God 00:40:34.66\00:40:38.90 is putting it because the devil is the devil and he's going to 00:40:38.93\00:40:42.37 continue to push us into living and worshiping in the flesh. 00:40:42.40\00:40:48.91 Isaiah chapter 1, everybody there? 00:40:48.94\00:40:50.35 And it says in verse number 10: "Hear the word of the Lord, you 00:40:50.38\00:40:56.35 rulers of Sodom." 00:40:56.38\00:40:58.49 What? He's not talking to Sodom. 00:40:58.52\00:41:00.12 He's talking to who? 00:41:00.16\00:41:01.59 To his people. 00:41:01.62\00:41:02.62 "Give ear to the law of our God," why? 00:41:02.66\00:41:06.66 Why the law of the God? 00:41:06.70\00:41:07.73 Because the law of God has what? 00:41:07.76\00:41:09.53 Holy principles, amen? 00:41:09.56\00:41:10.97 Holy principles that protect us from sin. 00:41:11.00\00:41:13.94 I didn't hear anybody say, "Amen." 00:41:13.97\00:41:16.50 That's how I see the Ten Commandments. 00:41:16.54\00:41:17.84 The Ten Commandments is like a barrier. 00:41:17.87\00:41:19.41 It's a protection wall that God has given us to say, "That's 00:41:19.44\00:41:22.34 what sin is. 00:41:22.38\00:41:23.18 Stay away from it. 00:41:23.21\00:41:25.11 Don't get close to it." 00:41:25.15\00:41:27.35 And so the law of God protects us from ourselves. 00:41:27.38\00:41:30.59 It's the manifestation of God's love, showing us, "Don't, 00:41:30.62\00:41:34.26 because I know what transgression of My law does. 00:41:34.29\00:41:37.13 I know what happens when you walk away, when you become 00:41:37.16\00:41:39.73 idolatrous." 00:41:39.76\00:41:40.93 Continues to read: "'To what purpose is the multitude of your 00:41:40.96\00:41:43.90 sacrifices to Me?' says the Lord. 00:41:43.93\00:41:45.77 'I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of 00:41:45.80\00:41:48.80 fed cattle. 00:41:48.84\00:41:50.07 I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lamb or goats. 00:41:50.11\00:41:53.34 When you come to appear before Me,'" He says. 00:41:53.38\00:41:56.01 What does He say? 00:41:56.04\00:41:57.21 "Who has required this from your hand, to trample My courts? 00:41:57.25\00:42:00.38 Bring no more futile sacrifices; incense is an abomination to Me. 00:42:00.42\00:42:04.82 The New Moons, the Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies--I cannot 00:42:04.85\00:42:08.22 endure iniquity and the sacred meetings. 00:42:08.26\00:42:11.06 Your New Moons, your appointed festivals My soul hates; they 00:42:11.09\00:42:14.60 are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them. 00:42:14.63\00:42:17.67 When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; 00:42:17.70\00:42:20.40 even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. 00:42:20.44\00:42:22.64 Your hands are full of blood. 00:42:22.67\00:42:25.27 Wash yourselves," amen? 00:42:25.31\00:42:27.31 "Make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings before 00:42:27.34\00:42:30.65 My eyes. 00:42:30.68\00:42:31.85 Cleanse to do evil--cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek 00:42:31.88\00:42:37.75 justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for 00:42:37.79\00:42:41.19 the widow." Now, I have a question. 00:42:41.22\00:42:44.53 All of these things were instituted by God, yes or no, in 00:42:44.56\00:42:46.70 the Mosaic law? 00:42:46.73\00:42:48.20 Yes, the incense, the sacrifices, all of the feast 00:42:48.23\00:42:51.87 days, all of this was instituted. 00:42:51.90\00:42:53.44 Is he saying not to do them? 00:42:53.47\00:42:54.57 Is that what he's saying? 00:42:54.60\00:42:56.40 No. 00:42:56.44\00:42:57.51 Remember, all those things pointed to Christ, amen? 00:42:57.54\00:42:59.64 They all point to Christ. 00:42:59.67\00:43:00.54 He's not saying not to do them. 00:43:00.58\00:43:01.54 He's saying, what? 00:43:01.58\00:43:02.81 You're doing them because you think that these are the end, 00:43:02.84\00:43:05.68 that this is the purpose. 00:43:05.71\00:43:06.82 No, these are the means to an end. 00:43:06.85\00:43:09.08 They are pointing to something greater but you've taken these 00:43:09.12\00:43:12.09 rituals, you've taken them and you've put them in a ritualized 00:43:12.12\00:43:16.73 way and you've made them the what? 00:43:16.76\00:43:18.06 The center and you forgot about what? 00:43:18.09\00:43:20.03 You forgot about those around you. 00:43:20.06\00:43:22.26 And so when we take--when we keep our focus, here's what 00:43:22.30\00:43:24.77 happens in Christianity. 00:43:24.80\00:43:26.17 When we keep our focus off Christ, when we disconnect with 00:43:26.20\00:43:29.24 God, when we no longer have that intimate daily communion with 00:43:29.27\00:43:32.41 God, then those things which are supposed to be a means to 00:43:32.44\00:43:36.28 obtain, to connect with God, we then place them as what? 00:43:36.31\00:43:41.28 As these holy principles over serving and worshiping God with 00:43:41.32\00:43:46.35 our hearts. 00:43:46.39\00:43:47.32 And so we put them and what do we do with them? 00:43:47.36\00:43:51.23 We make, "Oh, they--it's more important." 00:43:51.26\00:43:53.26 I'm sure you've seen--I like the lessons because sometimes they 00:43:53.29\00:43:55.93 have questions. 00:43:55.96\00:43:56.97 I'll give you an example of this. 00:43:57.00\00:43:58.47 Have you ever seen when they do the Communion service, right? 00:43:58.50\00:44:01.80 I remember one time in my church they were doing Communion sermon 00:44:01.84\00:44:04.31 and this deaconess, she was new, right? 00:44:04.34\00:44:09.71 And so they put her to do the cloth, right? 00:44:09.74\00:44:11.05 And so, obviously, she wasn't doing that good because, you 00:44:11.08\00:44:12.61 know, she made mistakes. 00:44:12.65\00:44:13.52 They didn't practice with her enough. 00:44:13.55\00:44:15.02 And so she was there, trying to do her best but what happened? 00:44:15.05\00:44:18.15 Oh, you can see the head deaconesses and they were just 00:44:18.19\00:44:21.32 fuming, "Ohh, look at what she's doing." 00:44:21.36\00:44:24.23 And they had rage in their heart, and then they took her 00:44:24.26\00:44:26.73 and they scolded her and, "Oh, look at what you did." 00:44:26.76\00:44:29.03 That poor child, that poor lady, she was just doing what? 00:44:29.06\00:44:32.47 What she knew. 00:44:32.50\00:44:33.90 And so we have taken these--established these 00:44:33.94\00:44:38.11 beautiful sermon, baptism and Communion, and we've taken these 00:44:38.14\00:44:42.61 things and we've put them above the love for others. 00:44:42.64\00:44:46.48 It doesn't mean that we don't do them. 00:44:46.51\00:44:48.18 It doesn't mean that these are not holy things of God, but they 00:44:48.22\00:44:51.09 are not the end. 00:44:51.12\00:44:52.55 They are the means. 00:44:52.59\00:44:54.39 They are pointing to Christ. 00:44:54.42\00:44:55.86 Is everybody with me? 00:44:55.89\00:44:57.33 And so sometimes, we put these things over the love of our 00:44:57.36\00:45:00.50 fellow beings and we do the same thing, my loved ones, 00:45:00.53\00:45:02.70 consistently. 00:45:02.73\00:45:04.23 Why? 00:45:04.27\00:45:05.80 We do this consistently when we are not connected with God. 00:45:05.83\00:45:08.70 We forget that the purpose of God is to what? 00:45:08.74\00:45:11.27 Is to save humans, amen? 00:45:11.31\00:45:13.41 And that should be the focus, as we keep our focus on the Lord. 00:45:13.44\00:45:16.71 And so when we go into the book, it talks about the number of 00:45:16.75\00:45:19.68 ways to worship and it goes into Isaiah chapter 58, right? 00:45:19.71\00:45:23.02 And it talks about, again, about fasting. 00:45:23.05\00:45:25.22 I have a question. 00:45:25.25\00:45:26.09 Is fasting not biblical? 00:45:26.12\00:45:28.56 Yes, it is biblical but what was happening? 00:45:28.59\00:45:30.46 What is Isaiah pointing to in Isaiah chapter 58? 00:45:30.49\00:45:34.30 Yes, they were using it as a means--as an end, right? 00:45:34.36\00:45:37.20 To obtain something and not knowing that what he says--what 00:45:37.23\00:45:40.37 is the fast? What is it I want you to do? 00:45:40.40\00:45:41.87 I want you to stop focusing on yourself. 00:45:41.90\00:45:43.74 That's basically what Isaiah 58 is saying. 00:45:43.77\00:45:45.41 Stop focusing on yourself, stop being so preoccupied in your own 00:45:45.44\00:45:49.38 things, your--what you want, and go serve. 00:45:49.41\00:45:52.01 Go minister. 00:45:52.05\00:45:53.35 That is, my loved ones, that is the manifestation, that is the 00:45:53.38\00:45:56.22 result. 00:45:56.25\00:45:57.45 It is of seeing and--are we just ministering to minister? 00:45:57.49\00:46:00.42 I have a question. 00:46:00.46\00:46:01.66 Are we just ministering to minister? 00:46:01.69\00:46:03.02 No, 'cause I'll tell you the truth. 00:46:03.06\00:46:06.80 I know churches that they do a lot of work, communities, oh, 00:46:06.83\00:46:10.67 community service, then they come back and the question is, 00:46:10.70\00:46:13.00 "And how many people did you minister to? 00:46:13.03\00:46:15.34 Yes, you fed them, amen, amen. 00:46:15.37\00:46:17.27 Yes, you reached out to them. But the purpose was what? 00:46:17.31\00:46:19.97 The purpose is to show them Christ, amen? 00:46:20.01\00:46:22.24 To win, to touch on their needs, to touch and minister to what 00:46:22.28\00:46:25.18 they have. 00:46:25.21\00:46:26.45 It's not just to say, to calm your conscience and say, "Oh, 00:46:26.48\00:46:29.78 I did my work this week," right? 00:46:29.82\00:46:31.42 "I gave somebody some food and I'm good to go." 00:46:31.45\00:46:34.12 Look at what it says: "Christ's method alone will give true 00:46:34.16\00:46:37.66 success in reaching," what? 00:46:37.69\00:46:38.83 "The people. 00:46:38.86\00:46:40.50 The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. 00:46:40.53\00:46:43.60 He showed His sympathy for them. 00:46:43.63\00:46:45.17 He ministered to their needs and won their confidence but with 00:46:45.20\00:46:48.17 what purpose? 00:46:48.20\00:46:49.14 What is the end result of all of these things? 00:46:49.17\00:46:51.74 And then He obeyed them to," what? 00:46:51.77\00:46:53.81 "Follow Me," amen? 00:46:53.84\00:46:56.31 So when we're ministering, we're not just ministering to put a 00:46:56.34\00:46:59.55 checklist on what I'm--I behaved like a Christian this week. 00:46:59.58\00:47:02.05 Or a checklist because I said, "Whoo, now I can say I've done 00:47:02.08\00:47:05.79 what I need to do." 00:47:05.82\00:47:07.06 No, the purpose of ministering to people's needs, the purpose 00:47:07.09\00:47:10.46 as God is God wants us to be a blessing so that they can see 00:47:10.49\00:47:13.60 our God that we serve, amen? 00:47:13.63\00:47:15.13 That through our lives, through our works, they can see 00:47:15.16\00:47:18.33 something different and they can see the God that we serve and 00:47:18.37\00:47:20.60 they say, "You know what? 00:47:20.64\00:47:21.44 I want to serve that God. 00:47:21.47\00:47:22.60 That God that you're serving, I like it." 00:47:22.64\00:47:26.64 And they'll be listening. Isn't that what Jesus did? 00:47:26.68\00:47:28.24 He didn't heal just to heal. 00:47:28.28\00:47:30.85 Because after the healing what's going to happen? 00:47:30.88\00:47:32.68 They're going to die again. 00:47:32.71\00:47:36.28 But what? 00:47:36.32\00:47:37.79 The purpose was to give them what? 00:47:37.82\00:47:39.29 Something that could not--would not pass away here on earth but 00:47:39.32\00:47:43.63 would be what? Everlasting life, amen? 00:47:43.66\00:47:45.96 And so as we're ministering to people, we should be focusing 00:47:45.99\00:47:48.23 on what? 00:47:48.26\00:47:49.13 On trying to reach them-- 00:47:49.16\00:47:50.50 but, again, we need to be what? 00:47:50.53\00:47:52.33 We need to be connected with God. 00:47:52.37\00:47:54.17 That submission to God's will. 00:47:54.20\00:47:56.47 If we don't have it, my loved ones, if we cease to focus on 00:47:56.50\00:47:59.94 worshiping God for the right purpose, because He created us, 00:48:00.04\00:48:02.88 because He redeemed us, because He has sanctified us, 00:48:02.91\00:48:05.38 because He is going to glorify us. 00:48:05.41\00:48:06.82 If we keep that out of focus and we don't give--then, we're going 00:48:06.85\00:48:10.05 to fall into all of these legalistic ways of thinking that 00:48:10.09\00:48:13.46 we're living by God and we're really trying to prove ourselves 00:48:13.49\00:48:16.19 to others and to God. 00:48:16.22\00:48:18.39 And that is not salvation. Is everybody with me? 00:48:18.43\00:48:20.43 And so the way you live, worship is not a moment. 00:48:20.46\00:48:23.80 Worshiping is not just coming here to church, it's not just 00:48:23.83\00:48:26.07 about preaching, it's not just about reading, it's not just 00:48:26.10\00:48:28.30 about singing. Worship is a lifestyle. 00:48:28.34\00:48:31.44 It's a daily manifestation, is how you carry yourself when you 00:48:31.47\00:48:34.48 talk, when you walk, when other people see you. 00:48:34.51\00:48:36.81 What do your neighbors think about you? 00:48:36.85\00:48:38.78 What do your friends think about you? 00:48:38.81\00:48:40.75 Have you been ministering to them? 00:48:40.78\00:48:42.22 This is not just homeless people, it's not just going to 00:48:42.25\00:48:44.95 Africa. 00:48:44.99\00:48:45.89 You have a mission field where you live. 00:48:45.92\00:48:48.12 You are a missionary, amen? 00:48:48.16\00:48:50.83 You might be a contract worker, but you're really a missionary 00:48:50.86\00:48:54.93 disguised as a contract worker. 00:48:54.93\00:48:56.70 You might be an accountant. 00:48:56.73\00:48:58.40 No, you're not an accountant; you're a missionary disguised as 00:48:58.43\00:49:00.90 an accountant. 00:49:00.94\00:49:01.90 God has placed you there so that what? 00:49:01.94\00:49:04.57 You can serve that mission field, amen, to reach out to 00:49:04.61\00:49:07.78 others, to minister to others. 00:49:07.81\00:49:09.14 But the foundation of all is what? 00:49:09.18\00:49:10.78 That God is what? 00:49:10.81\00:49:11.68 Is the God that we are serving. 00:49:11.71\00:49:13.05 It is why we do it. Is everybody with me? 00:49:13.08\00:49:15.72 And so, I mean, there's so much to talk about, my loved ones. 00:49:15.75\00:49:19.42 It's a fascinating lesson. 00:49:19.45\00:49:20.79 What I want to do is I want to challenge you. 00:49:20.82\00:49:22.32 I want to challenge you to go out and minister. 00:49:22.36\00:49:25.59 Minister to your neighbors. 00:49:25.63\00:49:28.30 Minister to the people that you know, to your--people that you 00:49:28.33\00:49:30.63 maybe never met. 00:49:30.67\00:49:31.70 Maybe somebody that lives down the block. 00:49:31.73\00:49:34.47 Minister, go out, pray with them. 00:49:34.50\00:49:36.97 Show them the God that we serve, amen? 00:49:37.01\00:49:39.21 Show them the God that created us and has saved us. 00:49:39.24\00:49:41.91 That is the same God that we want to show others. 00:49:41.94\00:49:43.61 Is everybody with me? 00:49:43.65\00:49:44.75 And so is the Sabbath a purpose of this, my loved ones? 00:49:44.78\00:49:48.32 That's what the lesson "Worshiping the Creator." 00:49:48.35\00:49:49.85 Sabbath is the great day. 00:49:49.88\00:49:51.25 Sabbath is the purpose, amen? 00:49:51.29\00:49:53.09 With the Sabbath, what are we doing? 00:49:53.12\00:49:54.42 We're putting it together. 00:49:54.46\00:49:55.32 We don't work today. 00:49:55.36\00:49:57.06 Jesus says, "It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." 00:49:57.09\00:50:00.70 So that means that today is a great day to minister as a 00:50:00.73\00:50:04.73 church, amen? 00:50:04.77\00:50:06.00 To go out and reach people, to go out and minister to people. 00:50:06.03\00:50:09.94 That's what we're called to do, my loved ones, amen? 00:50:09.97\00:50:13.44 And we do it every day but a Sabbath is a special part. 00:50:13.48\00:50:15.74 That's why we worship the Creator. 00:50:15.78\00:50:17.15 What better way to worship the Creator on His day than to go 00:50:17.18\00:50:20.05 out and minister to others, amen? 00:50:20.08\00:50:22.45 Praise the Lord and so I want to remind you that we have our 00:50:22.48\00:50:25.65 offer for those that are watching: 00:50:25.69\00:50:28.02 "Why God Said Remember." 00:50:28.06\00:50:30.19 "Why God Said to share it with others. 00:51:30.35\00:51:32.79 ¤¤¤ 00:51:34.49\00:51:43.50 Doug Batchelor: On Christmas Eve, 1971, 00:51:44.87\00:51:46.90 17-year-old Juliane Koepcke bordered LANSA flight 508 00:51:46.94\00:51:51.54 with her mother in Lima, Peru. 00:51:51.57\00:51:53.84 They intended to join her father for Christmas at his research 00:51:53.88\00:51:57.21 station in the Amazon Rainforest. 00:51:57.25\00:51:59.31 After crossing the Andes at about 21,000 feet, their 00:51:59.35\00:52:03.39 aircraft was enveloped by large dark thunderclouds and it 00:52:03.42\00:52:07.46 encountered severe turbulence. 00:52:07.49\00:52:09.42 Lightning was flashing everywhere and the plane was 00:52:09.46\00:52:11.73 shaking violently, which naturally terrified the 00:52:11.76\00:52:15.10 passengers. 00:52:15.13\00:52:16.36 Then a bolt of lightning struck the plane's engine and tore off 00:52:16.40\00:52:19.97 a wing. 00:52:20.00\00:52:21.20 As the doomed airliner hurtled towards the earth, the cabin 00:52:21.24\00:52:24.71 came apart and the next thing she knew, Juliane found herself 00:52:24.74\00:52:28.58 strapped alone to a row of seats, falling and spinning 00:52:28.61\00:52:31.95 silently from over 10,000 feet above the rainforest. 00:52:31.98\00:52:35.22 She plummeted through the jungle canopy and slammed to 00:52:35.25\00:52:38.62 the forest floor. 00:52:38.65\00:52:40.09 When she awoke the next day, Juliane was amazed to realize 00:52:40.12\00:52:43.99 she had survived the 2-mile fall with just a broken collarbone 00:52:44.03\00:52:47.86 and a bad gash in her arm. 00:52:47.86\00:52:49.16 After failing to find any other survivors, Juliane relied on 00:52:49.20\00:52:53.64 what her father had taught her, that walking downstream will 00:52:53.67\00:52:57.21 always lead to civilization. 00:52:57.24\00:52:59.44 So with a bag of candy that had fallen from the plane and one 00:52:59.47\00:53:02.68 sandal, she started walking. 00:53:02.71\00:53:04.75 For ten days, Juliane hobbled, swam, or floated downstream. 00:53:04.78\00:53:10.02 Her wounds became infected and she was plagued by maggots while 00:53:10.05\00:53:13.22 having to dodge crocodiles, piranhas, and relentless 00:53:13.25\00:53:16.46 insects. 00:53:16.49\00:53:18.09 Eventually, she came to a shack where she slept and she was soon 00:53:18.13\00:53:22.06 discovered by Peruvian loggers. 00:53:22.10\00:53:24.80 Eventually, Juliane was united with her amazed father. 00:53:24.83\00:53:28.57 It's hard to imagine a 17-year-old girl surviving such 00:53:28.60\00:53:31.84 a fall and then hiking alone out of the world's largest 00:53:31.87\00:53:35.31 rainforest. 00:53:35.34\00:53:37.48 You know, the Bible talks about some who survived an even 00:53:37.51\00:53:39.91 greater fall than Juliane. 00:53:39.95\00:53:41.38 In fact, according to the Scriptures, when Adam and Eve 00:53:41.42\00:53:44.69 fell in the Garden of Eden, it brought the whole human race 00:53:44.72\00:53:47.49 down. 00:53:47.52\00:53:48.49 But Jesus came to redeem the world from sin. 00:53:48.52\00:53:51.79 Perhaps you're thinking to yourself, "Well, that's okay for 00:53:51.83\00:53:54.23 the world but I've fallen too far." 00:53:54.30\00:53:57.43 Well, if the Lord can save Juliane, God can save you. 00:53:57.47\00:54:00.80 You've not gone farther than Moses who was guilty of murder 00:54:00.84\00:54:04.07 or David who was guilty of adultery or Peter who denied 00:54:04.11\00:54:07.18 Jesus, and all of them were saved and restored 00:54:07.21\00:54:10.35 from their fall. 00:54:10.38\00:54:11.91 Or maybe you're thinking, "I've fallen too many times." 00:54:11.95\00:54:15.12 Be of good courage. 00:54:15.15\00:54:16.38 It says in Proverbs chapter 24, verse 16: "A righteous man falls 00:54:16.42\00:54:20.12 seven times and rises again." 00:54:20.16\00:54:22.46 And Jesus cast seven devils out of Mary Magdalene. 00:54:22.49\00:54:25.53 So don't get discouraged, friend. 00:54:25.56\00:54:26.93 If you've fallen, get back up again. 00:54:26.96\00:54:29.33 The same way that He could save Juliane, lead her from that lost 00:54:29.36\00:54:32.87 condition in the rainforest, and restore her to her father, Jesus 00:54:32.90\00:54:36.94 can lead you from your lost condition and restore you to 00:54:36.97\00:54:40.08 your heavenly Father. 00:54:40.11\00:54:41.58 ¤¤¤ 00:54:42.31\00:54:48.62 Diana Dixon: My name is Diana Dixon. 00:54:54.32\00:54:56.29 I'm a professional truck driver. 00:54:56.32\00:54:58.53 In August 4, 2011, I stopped to help in an accident. 00:54:58.56\00:55:02.50 male: Diana Dixon also tried to help. 00:55:02.53\00:55:04.77 She parked her semi, jumped out, and headed toward the pick-up. 00:55:04.80\00:55:08.27 That's when she saw vehicles barreling toward her so she 00:55:08.30\00:55:11.44 reacted by jumping off 475 to a road below. 00:55:11.47\00:55:15.64 Diana: Well, a pick-up had clipped a semi, and I stopped to 00:55:15.68\00:55:18.75 help and I saw it in the mirror, so I walked back. 00:55:18.78\00:55:20.58 A gentleman told me, he says, 00:55:20.62\00:55:21.92 "Hey, you know, everything's okay. 00:55:21.95\00:55:22.98 Call 911." 00:55:23.02\00:55:24.22 And I looked over at the pick-up and there was a black pick-up 00:55:24.25\00:55:27.66 over there and he was okay. 00:55:27.69\00:55:29.12 At about that time, I don't know how far I walked, but I walked 00:55:29.16\00:55:31.33 far enough and a semi hit him and it imploded. 00:55:31.36\00:55:35.26 I knew it was going to hit me. 00:55:35.30\00:55:37.77 I had 30 seconds to decide and I decided to jump." 00:55:37.80\00:55:41.57 Diana: Yeah, I jumped off the bridge. 00:55:41.60\00:55:43.81 My back's broken. 00:55:43.84\00:55:45.37 dispatcher: Where are you at? 00:55:45.41\00:55:47.38 Diana: I don't know. 00:55:47.41\00:55:49.14 Diana: Fractured my pelvis in 24 places, 5 broken ribs, C5 00:55:50.05\00:55:53.82 neck fracture, I had a collapsed lung, I had a lacerated bladder, 00:55:53.85\00:55:58.49 I was bleeding internally, I had no marks on the outside of me 00:55:58.52\00:56:02.22 at all but a scrape where my arm had scraped the concrete. 00:56:02.26\00:56:05.16 From the chest down, I was on fire. 00:56:05.19\00:56:07.93 I was a dispatcher for a year after the accident and I went 00:56:07.96\00:56:11.77 back, finished my degree, and I went to Pittsburgh. 00:56:11.80\00:56:14.84 Threw a backpack over my back, walked like all the other 00:56:14.87\00:56:17.97 students. 00:56:18.01\00:56:19.34 I ran a marathon and I'm--since then I've been back to 00:56:19.37\00:56:22.54 truck-driving. 00:56:22.58\00:56:24.71 There was a gentleman I worked with and one day he was walking 00:56:24.75\00:56:27.68 in and he walked up to my desk and I was reading my Bible. 00:56:27.72\00:56:30.25 And he says, "Are you a believer?" 00:56:30.29\00:56:33.22 And I said, "Yes." 00:56:33.25\00:56:35.09 And he gave me some "Amazing Facts" study guides and it 00:56:35.12\00:56:37.83 just--it was an eye-opening experience for me. 00:56:37.86\00:56:42.06 I mean, I started reading them and I had a bunch of questions 00:56:42.10\00:56:44.13 to ask him, so I got online and I got on the "Amazing Facts" 00:56:44.17\00:56:47.84 web page and I just found information just that 00:56:47.87\00:56:52.71 I'd never known. 00:56:52.74\00:56:54.41 I went back to work as a truck driver because 00:56:54.44\00:56:56.48 that was my ministry. 00:56:56.51\00:56:57.95 It was my ministry before the accident and I was driving down 00:56:57.98\00:57:01.02 the road and I just needed a connection and I was flipping 00:57:01.05\00:57:04.85 through and somehow I ended up on YouTube and next thing I 00:57:04.89\00:57:07.92 know, "Amazing Facts," one of those things would come up there 00:57:07.96\00:57:10.63 and I listened to it. 00:57:10.66\00:57:12.53 I'm driving down the road, I got 11 hours of driving. 00:57:12.56\00:57:15.96 So I listened to one, I listened to another one. 00:57:16.00\00:57:19.40 And the more I listened to him, everything that I thought in my 00:57:19.43\00:57:21.97 heart, I'd just click on to one of these YouTubes and there he 00:57:22.00\00:57:25.04 was giving me the answer. 00:57:25.07\00:57:26.71 I walked in Seventh-Day Adventist Church for the first 00:57:26.74\00:57:28.78 time and I felt at home. 00:57:28.81\00:57:31.18 I was baptized in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church 00:57:31.21\00:57:33.55 because I had found the truth that I just was searching for 00:57:33.58\00:57:38.25 and I'd been praying about. 00:57:38.29\00:57:40.29 "Amazing Facts" has been such an inspiration and important for my 00:57:40.32\00:57:44.49 coming back into ministry that I want to be able to give back 00:57:44.53\00:57:48.60 to anyone that I can and "Amazing Facts" 00:57:48.63\00:57:51.37 is the backbone of my ministry. 00:57:51.40\00:57:54.97 My name is Diana Dixon. 00:57:55.00\00:57:57.24 Thank you for changing my life. 00:57:57.27\00:58:00.28 ¤¤¤ 00:58:08.05\00:58:18.06
