So we are right in the middle of the first angel's message 00:00:30.16\00:00:33.09 it is a powerful, glorious message 00:00:33.13\00:00:34.86 because every phrase of the first angel's message 00:00:34.90\00:00:37.67 refers back to the everlasting gospel. 00:00:37.70\00:00:40.27 The everlasting gospel actually defines 00:00:40.30\00:00:42.84 the phrases that we find here, 00:00:42.87\00:00:44.21 because you can take those phrases through the Bible 00:00:44.24\00:00:46.01 and you can define... almost anywhere you want to 00:00:46.04\00:00:47.84 but God has called in us to define them 00:00:47.88\00:00:49.94 according to the everlasting gospel. 00:00:49.98\00:00:52.01 Yvonne: Hmmm... beautiful. 00:00:52.05\00:00:53.88 James: Jason, you want to pray for us? 00:00:53.92\00:00:55.45 Jason: Sure. James: All right. 00:00:55.48\00:00:56.82 Jason: "Dear Heavenly Father, we ask that you would 00:00:56.85\00:00:59.65 please fill the Studio with your Holy Spirit 00:00:59.69\00:01:01.89 and as we study, 00:01:01.92\00:01:03.32 we ask that you would please bring back to our remembrance 00:01:03.36\00:01:06.06 the things we have studied in the past 00:01:06.09\00:01:08.40 and help us to understand the new things 00:01:08.43\00:01:10.57 that are being introduced to us today 00:01:10.60\00:01:12.73 in Jesus' name we pray, amen. " 00:01:12.77\00:01:14.24 All: "Amen. " 00:01:14.30\00:01:15.84 James: There is a beautiful picture that develops 00:01:15.87\00:01:18.51 in relation to this phrase, 00:01:18.54\00:01:20.18 "The hour of His judgment is come" 00:01:20.21\00:01:22.08 in the context of the everlasting gospel, 00:01:22.11\00:01:23.98 and I want us to look at three Bible verses, 00:01:24.05\00:01:25.85 the first one is Romans 14 and I believe it's verse 12, 00:01:25.88\00:01:31.09 Jason, if you could look that one up for us 00:01:31.12\00:01:33.69 and the second verse is found in Matthew 7:21 to 23... 00:01:33.72\00:01:40.93 if you could look those up for us, Ivor, 00:01:40.96\00:01:42.43 and then the third one is found in Revelation 12 verse 10. 00:01:42.46\00:01:45.13 Jason: Romans 14 verse 12. 00:01:45.17\00:01:49.00 James: Romans 14... hold on the verse, 00:01:49.04\00:01:51.17 let me get there and make sure it's that verse, 00:01:51.21\00:01:53.88 it might be verse 10... but it's verse 10 00:01:53.91\00:01:58.51 and read all the way though through... verse 10... 00:01:58.55\00:02:03.18 all the way through to verse 13. 00:02:03.22\00:02:07.16 Jason: Okay, "But why dost thou judge thy brother? 00:02:07.19\00:02:11.13 or why dost thou set at naught thy brother? 00:02:11.19\00:02:14.36 for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 00:02:14.40\00:02:17.90 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, 00:02:17.93\00:02:20.17 every knee shall bow to me, 00:02:20.20\00:02:21.67 and every tongue shall confess to God. 00:02:21.70\00:02:23.34 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 00:02:23.37\00:02:27.88 Let us not therefore judge one another anymore: 00:02:27.91\00:02:30.81 but judge this rather, 00:02:30.85\00:02:32.91 that no man put a stumbling block 00:02:32.95\00:02:34.78 or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. " 00:02:34.82\00:02:37.59 James: Wow! three reasons for the judgment, 00:02:37.62\00:02:40.12 reason number one, 00:02:40.16\00:02:41.49 so we don't have to judge another anymore, 00:02:41.52\00:02:43.29 one another anymore... 00:02:43.32\00:02:44.66 stop judging one another, God... 00:02:44.69\00:02:46.13 we'll all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, 00:02:46.16\00:02:48.80 God has a judgment... the hour of His judgment is come 00:02:48.83\00:02:51.40 He has a judgment, He's going to make... 00:02:51.43\00:02:53.54 take account of every single person... 00:02:53.60\00:02:55.70 we don't need to hold people accountable, 00:02:55.77\00:02:57.84 God is going to hold people accountable, so... 00:02:57.87\00:02:59.87 Jason: Where is that verse... 00:02:59.91\00:03:01.61 like you get the moat out of your own eye or something... 00:03:01.64\00:03:07.15 James: Matthew 5... Jason: Is that where we're going? 00:03:07.18\00:03:09.48 James: No... but it's a good verse to add to it, yeah... 00:03:09.52\00:03:11.79 "Judge not that ye be not judged. " 00:03:11.82\00:03:13.66 Yvonne: But what about "judge righteous judgment?" 00:03:13.69\00:03:16.26 James: "Judge righteous judgment... " 00:03:16.29\00:03:17.66 what's the first thing that we should judge righteously? 00:03:17.69\00:03:21.70 That Christ is Judge... He's ultimately the Judge... 00:03:21.73\00:03:25.67 so, there is a place for us to "judge righteous judgment" 00:03:25.70\00:03:29.30 in the sense of making sure we do things right, 00:03:29.37\00:03:32.01 in our own lives and the lives of others, 00:03:32.07\00:03:33.41 when it comes to salvation... 00:03:33.44\00:03:34.78 when it comes to the everlasting gospel, 00:03:34.81\00:03:36.14 okay, so, if you go to the store 00:03:36.18\00:03:39.21 and you pay four dollars and fifty cents for something 00:03:39.25\00:03:41.58 and you give them a 20 dollar bill 00:03:41.62\00:03:42.95 and they give 50 cents back, so you say, 00:03:42.98\00:03:45.39 "Wait a minute... wait a minute I need 15 more dollars," 00:03:45.42\00:03:47.52 right, that's righteous judgment... 00:03:47.56\00:03:48.89 "I need 15 more dollars... " 00:03:48.92\00:03:50.33 Ivor: But they might say, "Don't judge me... " 00:03:50.36\00:03:51.79 James: And you say, "No one's judging you, 00:03:51.86\00:03:53.60 I just need my 15 dollars back... 00:03:53.66\00:03:55.00 if you don't give me my 15 dollars back, 00:03:55.03\00:03:56.93 you are lost in hell. " 00:03:56.97\00:03:58.30 Well, now wait a minute, now that's going one step further, 00:03:58.33\00:04:00.47 you see what I'm saying? 00:04:00.50\00:04:01.84 And that's where we're called as Christians not to judge others 00:04:01.87\00:04:04.04 when it comes to the everlasting gospel... 00:04:04.07\00:04:06.31 when it comes to salvation, 00:04:06.34\00:04:07.68 "We hope all things, we believe all things, 00:04:07.71\00:04:09.61 we do all things... " that's what love does. 00:04:09.64\00:04:11.78 It doesn't mean that we have to let people walk all over us, 00:04:11.81\00:04:15.18 it doesn't mean that we have to live up... live with abuse... 00:04:15.25\00:04:18.59 or allow people to abuse us, 00:04:18.62\00:04:19.95 but it simply means that we hope the best for others 00:04:19.99\00:04:23.32 so the context of this verse... 00:04:23.36\00:04:25.53 I love this because the everlasting gospel 00:04:25.56\00:04:27.20 calls us in the context of Romans 14, 00:04:27.26\00:04:29.56 not to judge one another but rather, 00:04:29.63\00:04:31.77 not to be a stumbling block, 00:04:31.83\00:04:33.17 so that's the reason number one for the judgment, 00:04:33.20\00:04:35.87 reason number two, is in Matthew chapter 7:21 to 23. 00:04:35.90\00:04:38.87 Ivor: All right, Matthew 7:21, 00:04:38.91\00:04:40.74 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, 00:04:40.78\00:04:43.11 shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; 00:04:43.14\00:04:45.21 but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 00:04:45.25\00:04:48.08 Many will say to me in that day, 00:04:48.12\00:04:50.29 Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? 00:04:50.32\00:04:52.62 and in thy name have cast out devils? 00:04:52.65\00:04:55.19 and in thy name done many wonderful works? 00:04:55.22\00:04:57.53 And then will I profess unto them, 00:04:57.56\00:04:59.63 I never knew you: depart from me, 00:04:59.66\00:05:01.70 ye that work iniquity. " 00:05:01.73\00:05:03.06 James: So, here we have a group of people 00:05:03.10\00:05:04.93 who are professing to be followers of God, 00:05:05.00\00:05:07.04 they call Him, "Lord... " 00:05:07.07\00:05:08.40 and Jesus says to them, "I don't know you... " 00:05:08.44\00:05:11.31 and they say, "But we've done all these works" 00:05:11.34\00:05:13.17 So, reason number two for the judgment is, 00:05:13.21\00:05:15.04 we cannot be saved by our wonderful deeds, 00:05:15.08\00:05:17.11 we can't be saved by our works. 00:05:17.15\00:05:18.48 We have to have a relationship with Christ, 00:05:18.51\00:05:20.72 we have to have trust in Christ 00:05:20.75\00:05:22.08 and that's been the emphasis of the everlasting gospel 00:05:22.12\00:05:23.59 so, reason number one, 00:05:23.62\00:05:25.35 "Don't judge one another... God has a judgment... " 00:05:25.39\00:05:28.02 okay, the hour of His judgment is come, 00:05:28.06\00:05:30.06 He's going to take care of all the inadequacies, 00:05:30.09\00:05:32.09 all of the issues, all of the problems, 00:05:32.16\00:05:33.70 all the questions we have, when it comes to salvation 00:05:33.73\00:05:36.06 leave people with God, 00:05:36.10\00:05:37.43 reason number two, 00:05:37.47\00:05:38.80 "Don't trust your own works for salvation" 00:05:38.83\00:05:40.70 and then reason number three is Revelation chapter 12 00:05:40.74\00:05:43.87 and verse 10, and that verse is what Yvonne has. 00:05:43.91\00:05:47.11 Yvonne: "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 00:05:47.18\00:05:50.31 now salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God, 00:05:50.35\00:05:53.48 and the power of his Christ: have come 00:05:53.52\00:05:55.62 for the accuser of our brethren 00:05:55.65\00:05:57.85 who accused them before our God day and night 00:05:57.92\00:06:00.79 has been cast down... " 00:06:00.82\00:06:02.22 James: "Amen. " Yvonne: "Amen. " 00:06:02.26\00:06:04.09 James: Okay, so he's accusing day and night... 00:06:04.13\00:06:06.03 24... 7... 365... 00:06:06.09\00:06:09.03 my wife likes to take vacations she doesn't take any... 00:06:09.06\00:06:12.67 all right, so, when we look at the judgment... 00:06:12.73\00:06:15.40 one of the main reasons for the judgment... I'm going to say, 00:06:15.44\00:06:18.51 "the main reason that comes to the top is, this accuser... " 00:06:18.54\00:06:21.58 see in 1st John 2 it says, 00:06:21.61\00:06:23.81 "If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, 00:06:23.85\00:06:26.41 Jesus Christ the righteous: 00:06:26.45\00:06:27.78 And he is not only the propitiation for our sins: 00:06:27.82\00:06:29.55 but for the sins of the whole world. " 00:06:29.58\00:06:30.92 Why do we have an advocate with the Father? 00:06:30.95\00:06:32.49 Some people think, 00:06:32.52\00:06:33.86 "Oh because Jesus is more merciful than God 00:06:33.89\00:06:37.19 and God is kind of like, pointing out our problems... 00:06:37.23\00:06:38.69 our sins... our... 00:06:38.76\00:06:40.10 and Jesus is trying to convince God to love us... " 00:06:40.13\00:06:41.96 no, "For God so loved the world 00:06:42.00\00:06:43.60 that He gave His only begotten Son... " 00:06:43.63\00:06:45.23 Jesus said, "If you've seen me, you've seen the Father... " 00:06:45.27\00:06:48.77 the reason why we have an advocate with the Father 00:06:48.80\00:06:51.17 is because we have an accuser of the brethren... Satan... 00:06:51.21\00:06:54.44 Jesus is defending us before the Father 00:06:54.48\00:06:56.68 from the accusations of Satan, 00:06:56.71\00:06:58.05 you say, "Well, why does that defend us from the Father?" 00:06:58.08\00:06:59.41 Because the Father is fair... He's righteous... 00:06:59.45\00:07:02.95 He understands sin... He understands the accusations 00:07:02.98\00:07:05.72 but He can silence them based upon the merits of Jesus Christ 00:07:05.75\00:07:09.22 and that's what He does, 00:07:09.26\00:07:10.69 the judgment is all about God vindicating us 00:07:10.73\00:07:14.20 through Christ from the accusations of Satan. 00:07:14.23\00:07:17.60 It's all about our Advocate silencing the accuser, 00:07:17.63\00:07:22.57 Joshua chapter 3 brings this out, 00:07:22.60\00:07:24.37 the Old Testament book of Joshua... no... Joshua? 00:07:24.41\00:07:26.81 What am I thinking? 00:07:26.84\00:07:28.31 Zechariah chapter 3... Joshua and the angel... 00:07:28.34\00:07:30.88 that's what I was thinking of, same thing, 00:07:30.91\00:07:33.11 "The Lord rebuke you... " 00:07:33.15\00:07:34.48 "This is a Brad plucked out of the fire... " 00:07:34.52\00:07:36.48 and we're clothed with the raiment of white, 00:07:36.55\00:07:38.42 this is the picture of the judgment 00:07:38.45\00:07:40.09 so when you look at the judgment 00:07:40.12\00:07:41.72 in the context of the everlasting gospel 00:07:41.76\00:07:43.09 you see, some Christians really struggle with this idea 00:07:43.12\00:07:46.39 of the investigative judgment, "Why is God judging us?" 00:07:46.43\00:07:49.36 Well, the reason why is because we have the accuser 00:07:49.40\00:07:51.90 the reason why is because we are judging one another, 00:07:51.93\00:07:54.37 the reason why is because we're depending on our own works, 00:07:54.40\00:07:57.04 and so God has a judgment to wipe out all of that 00:07:57.07\00:07:59.64 so that we will put our complete trust in Christ as our Advocate, 00:07:59.67\00:08:02.91 that's what the judgment is all about. 00:08:02.94\00:08:04.55 So, in the judgment, 00:08:04.58\00:08:06.05 Christ stands as the One who vindicates us 00:08:06.08\00:08:09.42 from depending on our own works... 00:08:09.48\00:08:11.15 from the accusations of Satan 00:08:11.19\00:08:12.99 and from all this inclination we have 00:08:13.02\00:08:15.96 to judge and measure others. 00:08:15.99\00:08:17.33 Ivor: Yeah, yeah, 00:08:17.36\00:08:19.29 the question that I think a lot of people have is, 00:08:19.36\00:08:22.60 "Okay, judgment... how do I pass it... 00:08:22.63\00:08:24.83 how do I pass it?" 00:08:24.87\00:08:26.77 So, I'll give an Old Testament illustration 00:08:26.80\00:08:29.87 because there was a time... 00:08:29.90\00:08:31.24 when this happens, there's going to come a point 00:08:31.27\00:08:33.31 where the whole world will be filled with wickedness, 00:08:33.34\00:08:35.58 right, the judgment is preparing us to escape 00:08:35.61\00:08:38.61 the coming judgment of God upon this world, 00:08:38.65\00:08:41.62 well, guess what, remember back in the Old Testament? 00:08:41.65\00:08:43.42 There was a guy by the name of Noah 00:08:43.49\00:08:44.95 and he warned for 120 years of a coming flood... 00:08:44.99\00:08:50.96 we're warning that fire is going to fall from the sky, 00:08:50.99\00:08:53.50 that's our warning... "Hey, it's going to rain fire," 00:08:53.53\00:08:56.00 "Come on Man! it's never rained fire before, 00:08:56.03\00:08:57.77 what are you talking about?" You know... 00:08:57.80\00:08:59.47 same thing in the days of Noah, "It's going to rain... " 00:08:59.53\00:09:01.50 "It's never rained before... " 00:09:01.54\00:09:02.87 very interesting... how was Noah saved? 00:09:02.90\00:09:05.01 The Bible says, "Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord" 00:09:05.04\00:09:08.84 there it is again, the gospel of grace, right, 00:09:08.91\00:09:11.28 Noah was saved by grace 00:09:11.31\00:09:13.45 but watch what happens after Noah preaches, 00:09:13.48\00:09:16.45 um... well... let me phrase it this way... 00:09:16.48\00:09:19.42 in Noah's day... salvation... 00:09:19.45\00:09:21.89 the way that Noah escaped the judgment of God 00:09:21.92\00:09:24.43 was through wood that was lifted up above the earth. 00:09:24.46\00:09:30.53 All: Hmmm... 00:09:30.57\00:09:32.13 Yvonne: Wow... come on... come on... 00:09:32.17\00:09:34.37 Ivor: Wood lifted up above the earth, 00:09:34.40\00:09:36.57 and whoever was in that wood... lifted up above the earth, 00:09:36.60\00:09:39.77 whoever was in that ark, get into the ark... 00:09:39.81\00:09:43.38 right, whoever was hidden in that ark was safe. 00:09:43.45\00:09:46.61 So the gospel message is... the everlasting gospel... 00:09:46.68\00:09:50.22 is doing the same thing... 00:09:50.25\00:09:51.95 it's the same message in Noah's day, 00:09:52.02\00:09:53.46 "Get into the ark... " right, 00:09:53.49\00:09:55.69 but the ark... it is Christ... 00:09:55.72\00:09:57.56 it's the Most Holy Place... 00:09:57.59\00:09:59.43 it is being hidden in Him 00:09:59.46\00:10:01.26 and realizing that it is only through Him 00:10:01.30\00:10:03.93 that we can make it through the judgment 00:10:03.97\00:10:06.57 and so, what happens with Noah? 00:10:06.60\00:10:08.04 The ark takes him from an old world to a new world. 00:10:08.07\00:10:12.71 James: Good... love it... Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:10:12.74\00:10:14.58 Ivor: Yeah, and there's a rainbow that says, 00:10:14.64\00:10:16.41 "Hey, destruction will never come again... in a certain way" 00:10:16.44\00:10:19.81 that whole picture is a picture of what God is doing with us 00:10:19.85\00:10:23.28 and by-the-way in the ark there was only one window 00:10:23.32\00:10:25.85 which means... the only place that Noah could look 00:10:25.89\00:10:28.39 was not around... "Oh Man! look, Sister Betty is lost... " 00:10:28.42\00:10:31.49 no... the only thing he could do was look up... 00:10:31.56\00:10:34.70 look up... look up... right... and so, 00:10:34.73\00:10:36.93 that's what God's calling us to do. 00:10:36.97\00:10:39.10 "Fear God and give Him glory, look up... " right... 00:10:39.13\00:10:42.30 "focus on the Lamb on the cross" and it is through that 00:10:42.34\00:10:45.27 that we're going to be... 00:10:45.31\00:10:46.64 that we will ultimately pass the judgment 00:10:46.68\00:10:49.31 which leads us to... 00:10:49.34\00:10:51.21 James: To trust in Christ, 00:10:51.25\00:10:52.71 I just... I just want to emphasize again 00:10:52.75\00:10:55.25 what Ivor said, I love this 00:10:55.28\00:10:56.89 because what we're discovering here 00:10:56.92\00:10:59.35 in the three angels' messages... 00:10:59.39\00:11:00.99 at least in this first angel... the everlasting gospel, 00:11:01.02\00:11:03.22 we're discovering this emphasis on trusting in Christ, 00:11:03.26\00:11:06.33 which is what the group learned... 00:11:06.36\00:11:08.50 who follow the Lamb wherever He goes 00:11:08.53\00:11:10.53 and that's the answer to 00:11:10.57\00:11:11.90 worshipping the beast and his image. 00:11:11.93\00:11:13.44 Once you start trusting Jesus 00:11:13.47\00:11:15.50 in following Him wherever He goes, 00:11:15.54\00:11:17.07 you can't worship the beast, you can't worship his image, 00:11:17.11\00:11:19.54 you can't receive his mark, you can't do that, 00:11:19.57\00:11:21.24 it's not that it is impossible... 00:11:21.28\00:11:23.04 you just... you incline toward a different path... 00:11:23.11\00:11:27.58 you incline toward God. 00:11:27.62\00:11:28.95 Next phrase... Revelation 14 and verse 7, 00:11:28.98\00:11:32.49 final phrase, "And worship Him that made 00:11:32.52\00:11:35.96 heaven and earth and the seas and the fountains of waters. " 00:11:36.02\00:11:37.99 Now, we've already unpacked this a little bit 00:11:38.03\00:11:41.16 in relation to worship, 00:11:41.20\00:11:42.53 we've looked at the crisis that worship brings 00:11:42.56\00:11:45.67 to Revelation 13 and 14, 00:11:45.70\00:11:47.04 it's worshipping the beast and his image... 00:11:47.07\00:11:48.47 or it's worshipping God... 00:11:48.50\00:11:49.84 and we looked at the Sabbath... the seventh day of the week 00:11:49.87\00:11:52.07 versus Sunday... the first day of the week 00:11:52.11\00:11:53.88 and how those two days pitch two groups of people 00:11:53.94\00:11:57.58 either worshipping earthly kingdoms... 00:11:57.65\00:11:59.81 traditions of man... et cetera, a man's laws... 00:11:59.85\00:12:02.12 or worshipping God according to the Bible 00:12:02.15\00:12:03.62 but there's something more here 00:12:03.69\00:12:05.52 that I want us to just touch on 00:12:05.55\00:12:07.32 in relation to the everlasting gospel 00:12:07.36\00:12:08.82 when God created the Sabbath, He created it on the seventh day 00:12:08.86\00:12:14.96 he worked in creating this world in six days... 00:12:15.00\00:12:18.47 on the sixth day... He created mankind 00:12:18.50\00:12:21.50 and then the first thing that we did... 00:12:21.54\00:12:24.51 when after we were created is we rested on the Sabbath. 00:12:24.54\00:12:28.01 So, when God created this world, 00:12:28.04\00:12:30.48 He did it without us but He did it for us, 00:12:30.51\00:12:32.61 there was nothing we could point to and say, 00:12:32.65\00:12:34.68 "Oh! you see that tree over there... 00:12:34.72\00:12:36.05 well, I did the trunk and God did the branches... 00:12:36.08\00:12:39.69 and then I put the leaves and then He did the fruit... " 00:12:39.75\00:12:41.69 there was nothing you could point to and say, 00:12:41.72\00:12:43.26 you helped God do this, 00:12:43.29\00:12:44.63 God did it all by Himself but He did it for us. 00:12:44.66\00:12:47.10 So the first thing He does is, 00:12:47.13\00:12:49.56 "I want you to rest on Sabbath 00:12:49.60\00:12:51.93 and everything I've done for you without you. " 00:12:51.97\00:12:53.77 That's what the Sabbath reminds us to do, 00:12:53.80\00:12:55.84 to rest in everything He did for us... without us... 00:12:55.90\00:12:57.77 that's before the fall, then we fall... 00:12:57.81\00:13:00.68 Jesus becomes a man... the Bible says, 00:13:00.74\00:13:03.14 "Of the people there were none with Him, 00:13:03.18\00:13:05.58 He trod the winepress alone. " 00:13:05.61\00:13:07.48 He lived a perfect life, no man ever did that 00:13:07.52\00:13:09.92 so He did that... and we never helped Him do it, 00:13:09.95\00:13:12.02 then He died on the cross for our sins, 00:13:12.05\00:13:14.89 now when God created the world, He finished it in six days 00:13:14.92\00:13:18.16 and the sixth day was Friday 00:13:18.19\00:13:21.23 and when He came to the sixth day, 00:13:21.26\00:13:24.20 He said, "It is finished... " 00:13:24.23\00:13:27.10 when Jesus came, He came to recreate man in God's image... 00:13:27.14\00:13:31.44 He did it in Himself, 00:13:31.47\00:13:32.81 He lived a perfect life 00:13:32.84\00:13:34.24 and "He who carried the image of man in Himself... " 00:13:34.28\00:13:36.28 this is what man looks like, 00:13:36.34\00:13:37.68 this is what you were created to be like, 00:13:37.71\00:13:39.05 then He went to the cross and He took upon Himself 00:13:39.08\00:13:41.78 the wages of mankind's sin... all of it... 00:13:41.85\00:13:44.19 what day was it that He went to the cross? 00:13:44.22\00:13:46.52 Friday... 00:13:46.55\00:13:48.86 and what did He say just before He died on the cross? 00:13:48.89\00:13:51.23 Yvonne: "It is finished... " 00:13:51.29\00:13:52.63 James: Yeah, "It is finished... " 00:13:52.66\00:13:54.06 What's finished? The re-creation of mankind 00:13:54.10\00:13:56.00 in the image of God is finished, 00:13:56.03\00:13:57.60 and then what did He do 00:13:57.63\00:13:59.00 after He finished his work of re-creation? 00:13:59.03\00:14:01.00 He rested on the seventh day, 00:14:01.04\00:14:03.24 just like God did when He finished His work of creation... 00:14:03.27\00:14:05.34 Christ did... 00:14:05.37\00:14:06.71 just like God created the world by Himself for us, 00:14:06.74\00:14:09.51 Christ re-created mankind by Himself... for us... as a gift 00:14:09.54\00:14:13.62 and he rested on the Sabbath 00:14:13.65\00:14:15.92 so when we keep the Sabbath, it's to remind us 00:14:15.95\00:14:18.52 of everything God did for us without us. 00:14:18.55\00:14:22.19 It's to remind us... 00:14:22.22\00:14:24.16 the everlasting gospel calls us to remember the Sabbath 00:14:24.19\00:14:27.36 to remind us of everything God did for us... 00:14:27.40\00:14:29.83 so it's not legalism, it's not... 00:14:29.86\00:14:31.87 we're not saved by keeping the Sabbath, 00:14:31.90\00:14:33.34 we keep the Sabbath to remind us to rest in Jesus 00:14:33.37\00:14:36.44 for the gift of salvation, 00:14:36.50\00:14:37.84 that's what the everlasting gospel 00:14:37.87\00:14:39.77 tells us about the Sabbath. 00:14:39.81\00:14:41.51 Ivor: So, this gospel message goes into all the world 00:14:41.54\00:14:44.31 right, to every nation, kindred, tongue and people 00:14:44.35\00:14:47.05 which by-the-way, is a call for us to be able to minister 00:14:47.08\00:14:51.19 to every nation, kindred, tongue and people. 00:14:51.25\00:14:53.09 God is looking to save as many as He possibly can 00:14:53.12\00:14:57.06 right, this first angel's message goes forth 00:14:57.09\00:15:00.40 and it's bringing into light the truth of God 00:15:00.43\00:15:03.70 okay, so the first angel's message 00:15:03.73\00:15:05.67 if we were to summarize it... God's truth... 00:15:05.70\00:15:07.94 that leads us to the second angel's message 00:15:08.00\00:15:10.21 which... if we were to summarize it, 00:15:10.24\00:15:11.77 Satan's error... 00:15:11.81\00:15:13.14 we get to the third angel's message, 00:15:13.17\00:15:15.41 and it's very simple... truth... 00:15:15.44\00:15:17.61 right, first angel... the truth, second angel... error... 00:15:17.65\00:15:23.49 third angel... truth. 00:15:23.52\00:15:24.99 Yvonne: Hmmm... James: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:15:25.02\00:15:26.45 Ivor: That's Revelation 14... 00:15:26.49\00:15:29.22 juiced down to three words, right, 00:15:29.26\00:15:31.19 but let's look at the second angel's message, 00:15:31.23\00:15:33.09 Revelation 14 verse 8, the Bible says, 00:15:33.13\00:15:35.53 "And there followed another angel, 00:15:35.56\00:15:38.17 saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, 00:15:38.20\00:15:41.57 because she made all nations 00:15:41.60\00:15:44.01 drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. " 00:15:44.04\00:15:47.38 So, she is described here as "that great city" 00:15:47.41\00:15:52.11 and in the... in the book of Revelation... 00:15:52.15\00:15:56.79 chapter 17... verse 18... 00:15:56.82\00:15:59.15 James, you want to just read that for me quickly, 00:15:59.19\00:16:01.52 Revelation 17 verse 18. 00:16:01.56\00:16:03.06 James: Revelation 17 verse 18, 00:16:03.09\00:16:06.39 "And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, 00:16:06.43\00:16:12.53 which reigns over the kings of the earth. " 00:16:12.57\00:16:14.04 Ivor: Okay, so, this woman 00:16:14.07\00:16:15.44 is actually described in the same chapter verse 5, 00:16:15.47\00:16:19.24 her name is "Mystery Babylon 00:16:19.27\00:16:21.68 mother of harlots and abominations of the earth" 00:16:21.71\00:16:23.88 so, what we have in Revelation chapter 14, 00:16:23.91\00:16:27.52 is warning against Mystery Babylon. 00:16:27.55\00:16:30.65 It's this warning against this woman 00:16:30.69\00:16:33.76 who is called a harlot, 00:16:33.79\00:16:36.59 who is called a prostitute basically. 00:16:36.62\00:16:40.23 So, why is she called a prostitute 00:16:40.30\00:16:42.90 and why is she described as a woman? 00:16:42.93\00:16:45.43 Well, first of all, in the Bible a woman... 00:16:45.47\00:16:49.00 as we have seen in our... in earlier studies 00:16:49.04\00:16:51.01 is symbolic of a church, 00:16:51.04\00:16:53.74 so this is a church that God is warning against, right, 00:16:53.78\00:16:58.01 Mystery Babylon... but she has daughters... 00:16:58.05\00:17:00.12 so there are daughter churches that come out of her 00:17:00.15\00:17:02.58 while the key thing that I want you to remember here is this, 00:17:02.62\00:17:06.72 a harlot is one who does not regard "wedding vows" 00:17:06.76\00:17:11.49 that's what a harlot is, 00:17:11.53\00:17:13.76 she's one who doesn't regard wedding vows, okay, 00:17:13.80\00:17:16.10 she is... she does not regard marriage... 00:17:16.13\00:17:18.97 so, God has... 00:17:19.00\00:17:24.07 the Bible talks about Christ and His bride... the church... 00:17:24.11\00:17:27.68 well, they have wedding vows, what are those wedding vows? 00:17:27.71\00:17:31.21 Pause... 00:17:31.28\00:17:32.98 It's the Law of God, right? 00:17:33.01\00:17:35.08 And, in fact, you're not actually... 00:17:35.12\00:17:38.02 I like to put it this way... Christ came to this world, 00:17:38.05\00:17:41.02 by-the-way, the Bible says, 00:17:41.06\00:17:42.39 "A man shall leave his mother and father 00:17:42.42\00:17:44.03 and cleave unto his wife. " 00:17:44.06\00:17:45.43 So, Christ in heaven was like, 00:17:45.46\00:17:46.80 "You know, Father, there's this girl that I like, 00:17:46.83\00:17:49.86 she's already on earth... " love story right... 00:17:49.90\00:17:52.83 "and, I want her... " 00:17:52.90\00:17:54.67 and so Father says, "You know... you know... 00:17:54.70\00:17:56.47 you have to leave your Father if you want to go... " 00:17:56.50\00:17:58.57 and what does Jesus do? He leaves His father... 00:17:58.61\00:18:01.58 and He becomes... the two become one flesh... 00:18:01.61\00:18:04.85 so, Christ comes down, He proposed to us... 00:18:04.88\00:18:08.08 but that proposal was on the cross. 00:18:08.12\00:18:10.15 "Hey, this is how much I love you... will you marry me?" 00:18:10.19\00:18:13.66 And it's like, "Oh, how romantic... " 00:18:13.69\00:18:17.09 after we spit on Him... and did all this... 00:18:17.13\00:18:19.16 He says, "Hey, this is how much I love you. " 00:18:19.19\00:18:21.20 So the cross is His proposal to us 00:18:21.26\00:18:23.83 but you're not married... just because someone proposes. 00:18:23.87\00:18:26.63 All: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:18:26.67\00:18:28.44 True marriage comes after wedding vows are exchanged 00:18:28.47\00:18:31.31 so what are God's wedding vows? 00:18:31.34\00:18:33.14 They're His commandments. 00:18:33.17\00:18:34.98 So you and the Lord are there at the altar... 00:18:35.01\00:18:37.58 "Do you promise to have no other gods before me?" 00:18:37.61\00:18:39.85 "I do... " 00:22:52.37\00:22:54.50 but that's because of the condition... 00:22:54.54\00:22:57.31 the experience that they're going through 00:22:57.34\00:22:59.87 I mean, when I pulled up here to the studios, 00:22:59.94\00:23:02.44 I don't know... I don't think our Viewers know this 00:23:02.48\00:23:05.31 but it's cold here... 00:23:05.35\00:23:06.68 I mean, it's snowing outside... 00:23:06.72\00:23:08.05 I mean, I left 60-degree weather to come out here, 00:23:08.08\00:23:10.15 I made some sacrifices 00:23:10.19\00:23:11.62 and it's mostly 60s next week when we leave, right? 00:23:11.65\00:23:13.86 Yvonne: Right. Jason: It's a counterfeit spring 00:23:13.92\00:23:15.26 James: Okay, so it's a counterfeit spring, 00:23:15.29\00:23:16.62 so I pull up in my rental car... get out the door... and it... 00:23:16.66\00:23:20.30 I mean, it was forever to get from my car to the door 00:23:20.36\00:23:23.47 and I wanted that buzzer to be pushed so I could get in, 00:23:23.50\00:23:26.47 then I remember... "Oh, I left my phone in the car" 00:23:26.50\00:23:28.87 so then, I had to go back out in the cold to get my phone, 00:23:28.90\00:23:32.41 when you're in an uncomfortable position, 00:23:32.44\00:23:35.04 a little bit of time feels like "forever... " 00:23:35.08\00:23:37.45 and this position that these guys are going to be in 00:23:37.48\00:23:40.05 in the context of being lost is going to be very uncomfortable 00:23:40.08\00:23:42.28 so it seems like forever... 00:23:42.35\00:23:43.69 Jonah, was in the belly of the whale, 00:23:43.72\00:23:45.05 and he said, "forever... " 00:23:45.09\00:23:46.42 but it was actually for three days and three nights, 00:23:46.45\00:23:47.79 it wasn't forever. 00:23:47.82\00:23:49.16 The Bible uses this phrase to describe an experience 00:23:49.19\00:23:52.39 that is very uncomfortable, so it seems like a long time, 00:23:52.46\00:23:55.66 even eternity, 00:23:55.70\00:23:57.43 "I've been waiting for you... " well... 00:23:57.47\00:23:59.23 this morning, you guys were waiting for me forever, huh? 00:23:59.27\00:24:01.94 Jason: Well, we weren't going to call you out... or anything 00:24:01.97\00:24:05.71 we were going to let you slide. 00:24:05.74\00:24:07.38 James: And, of course, of course, I returned the favor, 00:24:07.41\00:24:10.65 you returned the favor... 00:24:10.68\00:24:12.01 Jason: Right after lunch... 00:24:12.05\00:24:13.38 James: Yeah, I had to wait for you... 00:24:13.42\00:24:14.75 so, but it's... the Bible uses the phrase the same way, 00:24:14.78\00:24:17.29 the same way... 00:24:17.32\00:24:18.65 Ivor: I think it's important to see here as well 00:24:18.69\00:24:20.29 because some people are like, "You know what? 00:24:20.32\00:24:21.66 That this is evidence that the wicked burn forever... " 00:24:21.69\00:24:25.26 but you got to look carefully because 00:24:25.29\00:24:27.30 where are they being tormented? 00:24:27.36\00:24:29.26 In the presence of the Lamb and in the presence of God. 00:24:29.30\00:24:32.67 Well, where is God and the Lamb? 00:24:32.70\00:24:34.24 Where are they going to spend eternity? 00:24:34.27\00:24:35.70 Where are they going to spend eternity? 00:24:35.74\00:24:37.97 In heaven... well if this is true... 00:24:38.01\00:24:40.18 this means that the wicked... guess where they are? 00:24:40.21\00:24:42.68 In heaven... 00:24:42.71\00:24:44.05 James: Hmmm... hmmm... Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:24:44.08\00:24:45.41 Ivor: Huh, wait a minute... that doesn't make sense, 00:24:45.45\00:24:47.02 no, no, no, so this reveals that this... 00:24:47.05\00:24:49.88 the wicked will not spend eternity 00:24:49.92\00:24:53.56 in the presence of the Lamb, only the righteous do. 00:24:53.59\00:24:55.49 James: Right. Ivor: So this... I mean... 00:24:55.52\00:24:57.69 we're not going into this in great detail about it now, 00:24:57.73\00:24:59.79 but, this... 00:24:59.83\00:25:01.50 James: But we will, Revelation 20... 00:25:01.53\00:25:02.86 Ivor: We will, Revelation 20... 00:25:02.90\00:25:04.23 this definitely shows that the wicked do not suffer... 00:25:04.27\00:25:07.57 and in fact, I have a verse here, 00:25:07.60\00:25:09.30 just go with me very quickly... Psalm 37 verse 20... 00:25:09.34\00:25:11.94 because this... says, "And the smoke of their torment 00:25:11.97\00:25:14.54 ascendeth up for ever and ever... " 00:25:14.58\00:25:15.98 and I want you to notice that, it's not... 00:25:16.01\00:25:18.51 it's the smoke of their torment that ascends up forever and ever 00:25:18.55\00:25:24.32 so Psalm 37 verse 20, 00:25:24.35\00:25:26.05 whoever finds that first... go ahead and read it, 00:25:26.09\00:25:29.32 Yvonne: "But the wicked shall perish, 00:25:29.36\00:25:30.93 and the enemies of the LORD 00:25:30.96\00:25:32.29 like the splendor of the meadows shall vanish into smoke... 00:25:32.33\00:25:36.46 shall they vanish away. " 00:25:36.50\00:25:37.87 Ivor: Okay, so the Bible says here 00:25:37.90\00:25:39.23 that the wicked will vanish away into what? 00:25:39.27\00:25:42.00 Into smoke... all right, so where are they? 00:25:42.07\00:25:44.54 They have vanished... 00:25:44.57\00:25:46.04 the only remainder is what? Smoke... 00:25:46.07\00:25:48.74 So, it's the smoke of their torment... 00:25:48.78\00:25:51.65 that ascendeth up forever and ever, 00:25:51.68\00:25:54.48 it's not that they're being tormented... 00:25:54.52\00:25:56.22 think about the Twin Towers when they fell... 00:25:56.25\00:25:58.29 the smoke from the Twin Towers 00:25:58.35\00:26:00.02 hovered over New York for a long time, 00:26:00.06\00:26:03.83 that's just two buildings, 00:26:03.86\00:26:05.19 imagine the whole world going up in smoke... 00:26:05.23\00:26:08.90 you know, who knows... 00:26:08.96\00:26:10.50 there may be some column of smoke throughout the universe, 00:26:10.53\00:26:12.70 you know... the newly created... 00:26:12.73\00:26:14.30 that's all that's left... 00:26:14.34\00:26:15.67 we don't know but what I'm saying is that 00:26:15.70\00:26:17.31 it's not the wicked that are tormented forever, 00:26:17.34\00:26:19.94 it's the smoke, the Bible says, "that ascends forever. " 00:26:19.97\00:26:23.08 All: Hmmm... 00:26:23.11\00:26:24.51 So, this again, points to the fact that God is a God of love, 00:26:24.55\00:26:28.75 you cannot... you cannot... you know... 00:26:28.78\00:26:30.82 say that a God of love 00:26:30.89\00:26:32.22 burns and torments people forever and ever, 00:26:32.25\00:26:34.06 this is against the very character of God 00:26:34.09\00:26:36.22 which we will get into... in another Program. 00:26:36.26\00:26:38.29 Yvonne: Malachi 4... 00:26:38.33\00:26:40.36 James: That was the verse I was thinking of too. 00:26:40.40\00:26:42.70 Yvonne: Verse 3... "Ye shall trample the wicked 00:26:42.73\00:26:45.37 for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet 00:26:45.40\00:26:48.30 on the day that I do this, saith the LORD of hosts. " 00:26:48.34\00:26:51.14 So, ashes means... they're gone... 00:26:51.17\00:26:54.24 James: That's it...
