" All: "Amen... " 00:01:56.71\00:01:58.71 James: And then we're going to do our traditional thing 00:01:58.75\00:02:01.05 which is very, very good tradition and that is... 00:02:01.08\00:02:03.85 we're going to read through the Scriptures, 00:02:03.89\00:02:05.22 I'm looking to you Jason to start us off, 00:02:05.25\00:02:07.56 you can read about half of this, there's... there's 00:02:07.59\00:02:09.89 about... what...? fourteen texts here 00:02:09.92\00:02:12.99 and if you could read about seven of them 00:02:13.03\00:02:14.36 and then maybe, Yvonne, you can read the next seven, 00:02:14.40\00:02:16.30 we'll just go through them here. 00:02:16.33\00:02:18.63 Jason: "And I saw in the right hand of him 00:02:18.67\00:02:21.07 that sat on the throne a book written within 00:02:21.10\00:02:23.81 and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 00:02:23.84\00:02:26.47 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, 00:02:26.51\00:02:30.18 Who is worthy to open the book, 00:02:30.21\00:02:32.25 and to loose the seals thereof? 00:02:32.31\00:02:34.28 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, 00:02:34.32\00:02:36.69 neither under the earth, was able to open the book, 00:02:36.72\00:02:39.15 neither to look thereon. 00:02:39.22\00:02:40.66 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy 00:02:40.72\00:02:45.39 to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 00:02:45.43\00:02:48.46 And one of the elders saith unto me, 00:02:48.50\00:02:50.93 Weep not: behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah, 00:02:50.97\00:02:53.87 the Root of David, hath prevailed 00:02:53.90\00:02:56.14 to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. 00:02:56.17\00:02:58.91 And I beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne 00:02:58.97\00:03:02.81 and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, 00:03:02.84\00:03:06.21 stood a Lamb as it had been slain, 00:03:06.25\00:03:08.15 having seven horns and seven eyes, 00:03:08.18\00:03:10.02 which are the seven Spirits of God 00:03:10.05\00:03:12.35 sent forth unto all the earth. 00:03:12.39\00:03:14.09 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him 00:03:14.12\00:03:17.53 that sat upon the throne. " 00:03:17.56\00:03:18.99 Yvonne: "And when he had taken the book, 00:03:19.03\00:03:21.16 the four beasts and four and twenty elders 00:03:21.20\00:03:23.26 fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, 00:03:23.30\00:03:27.34 and golden vials full of odours, 00:03:27.37\00:03:29.40 which are the prayers of saints. 00:03:29.44\00:03:31.94 And they sung a new song, saying, 00:03:31.97\00:03:34.58 Thou art worthy to take the book, 00:03:34.61\00:03:37.18 and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, 00:03:37.21\00:03:40.55 and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood 00:03:40.58\00:03:43.42 out of every kindred, and tongue and people, and nation; 00:03:43.45\00:03:46.79 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: 00:03:46.86\00:03:50.43 and we shall reign on the earth. 00:03:50.46\00:03:52.56 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels 00:03:52.59\00:03:55.60 round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: 00:03:55.66\00:03:58.60 and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, 00:03:58.63\00:04:01.90 and thousands of thousands; 00:04:01.94\00:04:03.74 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb... " 00:04:03.77\00:04:06.81 oh yeah, oh... I love this... 00:04:06.88\00:04:08.68 "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, 00:04:08.71\00:04:12.35 and riches and wisdom, and strength, 00:04:12.41\00:04:14.68 and honour, and glory, and blessing. 00:04:14.75\00:04:17.15 And every creature which is in heaven, 00:04:17.19\00:04:19.42 and on earth, and under the earth, 00:04:19.45\00:04:21.59 and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, 00:04:21.62\00:04:25.16 heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, 00:04:25.19\00:04:28.40 and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, 00:04:28.43\00:04:31.60 and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 00:04:31.63\00:04:34.14 And the four beasts said, Amen. 00:04:34.17\00:04:36.60 And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him 00:04:36.64\00:04:40.08 that liveth for ever and ever. " 00:04:40.11\00:04:42.31 James: What a beautiful picture. 00:04:42.34\00:04:44.51 Yvonne: Oh, worthy is the Lamb that was slain. 00:04:44.55\00:04:47.68 James: This... this has to be one of the most 00:04:47.72\00:04:49.22 glorious chapters in the entire Bible and it is rich, rich, rich 00:04:49.25\00:04:55.46 there is... we could break it into three sections, 00:04:55.49\00:04:58.43 there's... there is a problem that is exposed to John, 00:04:58.46\00:05:01.06 a problem... because there's a book that's sealed up 00:05:01.10\00:05:03.67 and can't be opened and it causes him to weep 00:05:03.70\00:05:05.90 and so... this is... this is the problem... 00:05:05.93\00:05:08.07 the dilemma that faces John and then the next section, 00:05:08.10\00:05:10.47 there is a solution to the dilemma, 00:05:10.51\00:05:12.07 the solution is brought forth, the Lamb is able... 00:05:12.11\00:05:16.01 and... and we see that solution 00:05:16.04\00:05:17.68 we see a response to the solution 00:05:17.71\00:05:19.71 and then we see in the third section 00:05:19.75\00:05:21.62 we see the overall response of the entire universe 00:05:21.68\00:05:24.95 to what the Lamb has been able to accomplish. 00:05:24.99\00:05:26.45 Yvonne: Ah... 00:05:26.49\00:05:28.22 Ivor: So John is weeping because 00:05:28.26\00:05:29.92 evidently these seals contained the future of humanity, 00:05:29.96\00:05:35.03 James: Yes... Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:05:35.06\00:05:36.40 and he sees that without this happening... humanity is doomed. 00:05:36.43\00:05:39.93 James: He sees it... in fact, let me just take you to 00:05:39.97\00:05:42.17 a verse in the Old Testament 00:05:42.20\00:05:43.54 because again, we want to emphasize that 00:05:43.57\00:05:45.44 a lot of the Book of Revelation is symbols that are broken open 00:05:45.47\00:05:50.05 in our understanding of the Bible itself, 00:05:50.08\00:05:52.91 so the terminology of the sealed book... 00:05:52.95\00:05:55.22 sealed on the inside and the outside... 00:05:55.25\00:05:57.05 sealed up so that no man can open it, 00:05:57.09\00:05:58.59 that terminology... and written... 00:05:58.62\00:06:00.49 is borrowed from the Old Testament, 00:06:00.52\00:06:02.92 there's a verse in Ezekiel chapter 2... 00:06:02.96\00:06:05.29 Ezekiel chapter 2 and we're going to look here at verse... 00:06:05.33\00:06:09.53 well, let's look at verses 9 and 10, 00:06:09.56\00:06:12.60 Ezekiel chapter 2, verses 9 and 10 00:06:12.63\00:06:16.44 and it says here, "And when I looked, 00:06:16.47\00:06:20.41 behold, an hand was sent unto me: and lo, 00:06:20.44\00:06:24.35 a roll of a book was therein;" 00:06:24.38\00:06:27.15 verse 10, "And he spread it before me; 00:06:27.18\00:06:30.22 and it was written within and without: 00:06:30.25\00:06:33.25 and there was written therein 00:06:33.29\00:06:36.56 lamentations, and mourning, and woe. " 00:06:36.59\00:06:39.93 Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:06:39.96\00:06:41.30 James: Okay, on the throne, there is a scroll, 00:06:41.33\00:06:45.47 it's sealed up with seven seals, 00:06:45.50\00:06:47.44 it has writings on the inside and on the outside, 00:06:47.47\00:06:49.67 and no man in heaven and no man on the earth, 00:06:49.70\00:06:51.84 and no man under the earth can take that scroll... that book... 00:06:51.87\00:06:54.88 and open it and break those seals, 00:06:54.91\00:06:56.71 and John begins to weep, why? 00:06:56.75\00:06:58.71 Because according to Ezekiel, 00:06:58.75\00:07:00.65 that scroll represents the history of the world. 00:07:00.72\00:07:04.79 Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:07:04.82\00:07:06.15 James: It's written on the inside and the outside because 00:07:06.19\00:07:08.46 it is complete... every decision, 00:07:08.52\00:07:10.46 every... every action... the history of nations, 00:07:10.49\00:07:14.00 is all contained in this roll, but it's sealed up... 00:07:14.06\00:07:17.53 in other words, our faith is sealed up, 00:07:17.57\00:07:19.57 the history of this earth could be summarized 00:07:19.60\00:07:23.64 in these words, Lamentation and weeping and woe. 00:07:23.67\00:07:27.64 In the New Testament, it could be summarized this way, 00:07:27.68\00:07:30.38 "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God, 00:07:30.41\00:07:34.18 and the wages of sin is death," that's the summation 00:07:34.22\00:07:37.85 of what's written in this roll, now, the Bible says, 00:07:37.89\00:07:41.62 "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof," 00:07:41.66\00:07:45.39 so that's why He has the scroll, 00:07:45.43\00:07:47.03 even though Satan is counter claiming this earth, 00:07:47.06\00:07:50.13 according to Job chapter 1, 00:07:50.17\00:07:51.50 he's saying, "No, the earth is mine... I've been too and fro, 00:07:51.53\00:07:53.74 I've been up and down, I've been checking it out... " 00:07:53.77\00:07:55.40 you know, when you buy something, you check it out, 00:07:55.44\00:07:56.84 especially if you're buying a used car, 00:07:56.87\00:07:58.21 or a piece of property, you check it out, 00:07:58.24\00:07:59.84 you go, "oh, check... " he's been checking... 00:07:59.87\00:08:01.31 he says, "The earth is mine... " God says, "No, no, no... 00:08:01.34\00:08:03.08 you haven't considered my servant Job... " 00:08:03.11\00:08:05.55 so... so there's this contention taking place, 00:08:05.61\00:08:07.92 that the scroll is sealed up, the destiny is sealed up, 00:08:07.95\00:08:11.55 no man in heaven... are there men in heaven? 00:08:11.59\00:08:14.36 Ivor: Hmmm... hmmm... 00:08:14.39\00:08:15.72 James: Outside of the 24 elders, are there men in heaven? 00:08:15.76\00:08:18.09 Ivor: No... 00:08:18.13\00:08:21.23 Yvonne: Well, you want to talk about... like, Elijah... 00:08:21.26\00:08:23.20 James: Yes, yes, yes... 00:08:23.23\00:08:24.57 Ivor: Yes, yes, yes, yes... I didn't understand the question 00:08:24.60\00:08:27.17 James: All right, the layperson corrects the theologian. 00:08:27.20\00:08:29.80 All: laughter... 00:08:29.84\00:08:31.97 James: How did Enoch get to heaven? 00:08:32.01\00:08:33.34 Yvonne: Translation... 00:08:33.38\00:08:34.71 James: Translation... without seeing death. 00:08:34.74\00:08:36.88 I mean, he had this close walk with God, right? 00:08:36.91\00:08:39.11 Jason: Wasn't he like... 300 and something years' old? 00:08:39.18\00:08:41.35 James: Yes... yeah... and... and... and... 00:08:41.38\00:08:43.05 he got married and he had a son and that changed his life... 00:08:43.08\00:08:46.35 changed his life... because I remember when my son was born, 00:08:46.42\00:08:49.49 I remember the feeling of love and protection... 00:08:49.52\00:08:53.90 the feelings that I had toward that little baby 00:08:53.93\00:08:58.23 when he was born... I couldn't even... 00:08:58.30\00:08:59.97 I couldn't even write it out, there was just these emotions 00:09:00.00\00:09:03.71 and these feelings that came out where I just... 00:09:03.74\00:09:05.44 and I saw God 00:09:05.47\00:09:07.11 in a completely different way than I had ever seen before, 00:09:07.14\00:09:09.54 if I loved this boy like this, 00:09:09.58\00:09:12.91 how much more does God love me, unconditionally... 00:09:12.95\00:09:16.25 it was just incredible, 00:09:16.28\00:09:17.62 Enoch had this walk with God that was so close 00:09:17.65\00:09:19.72 that one day... as they were walking and talking together, 00:09:19.75\00:09:22.02 God said, "Hey, Enoch, we're closer to my house 00:09:22.06\00:09:24.53 than we are to your house, 00:09:24.59\00:09:25.93 why don't you just come home with me?" 00:09:25.96\00:09:27.30 Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:09:27.33\00:09:28.66 James: Can Enoch open the scroll? 00:09:28.70\00:09:30.03 can Enoch change our destiny, 00:09:30.07\00:09:32.13 can Enoch change our destiny with death? 00:09:32.17\00:09:34.44 No, it doesn't matter how close you are with God, 00:09:34.47\00:09:36.47 it doesn't matter what our connections... 00:09:36.50\00:09:38.24 if we're... if we're getting ready to be translated... 00:09:38.27\00:09:40.68 but the world, the lamentation, the death... 00:09:40.71\00:09:42.44 that is our destiny and that's why John is weeping... 00:09:42.48\00:09:44.78 no man in heaven... no man in earth... 00:09:44.81\00:09:47.25 no man under the earth... 00:09:47.32\00:09:48.78 can alter that destiny with death 00:09:48.82\00:09:51.29 and as he is weeping, one of the elders comes to him 00:09:51.35\00:09:53.62 and the elder says, "Weep not... " 00:09:53.66\00:09:56.73 seven letters comprising two words 00:09:56.76\00:09:59.76 that bring us to the rest of the story, "Weep not... " 00:09:59.79\00:10:01.66 and then what? See that's the gospel... 00:10:01.70\00:10:03.60 "Weep not, dry your eyes... " and then what? 00:10:03.63\00:10:06.10 And by-the-way, it's the elder, it's one like him, 00:10:06.13\00:10:08.50 one who is redeemed, one you can relate, okay, 00:10:08.54\00:10:10.91 that's our job... and then the elder says, 00:10:10.94\00:10:13.54 "Behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah... " 00:10:13.58\00:10:16.85 and that is the secret... God isn't asking us to... 00:10:16.88\00:10:20.12 to overcome... He's not asking... 00:10:20.15\00:10:22.85 let me just clarify that, 00:10:22.88\00:10:24.29 He's not asking us to take the roll 00:10:24.32\00:10:26.42 and to change our destiny with death 00:10:26.45\00:10:28.49 and to do that which only the Lamb can do, 00:10:28.52\00:10:31.26 He's asking us to behold the Lamb... 00:10:31.29\00:10:33.40 now is it important for us to behold the Lamb? 00:10:33.43\00:10:36.16 It's vital... it's vital... it's the secret to success. 00:10:36.20\00:10:38.57 Yvonne: Man! that's some rich... this is rich... 00:10:38.60\00:10:42.24 I never even noticed that the... one of the elders 00:10:42.30\00:10:45.87 said it... "One like him... " I've read this a ton of times... 00:10:45.91\00:10:51.41 but never... it just never connected, 00:10:51.45\00:10:54.98 "One like him... " said, "Weep not... " 00:10:55.02\00:10:57.52 James: It's because we've identified the elders, 00:10:57.55\00:10:59.72 and once we've identified the elders, 00:10:59.75\00:11:01.09 then we realize... "Wow! they've got a part to play in this... 00:11:01.12\00:11:03.12 we've got a part to play in this... 00:11:03.16\00:11:04.56 we've got a part... they've got a part... " 00:11:04.59\00:11:06.39 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... James: The whole... 00:11:06.46\00:11:08.20 Ivor: They're... they're the down payment as it were, 00:11:08.23\00:11:09.56 you know, "Look, we're here, so, weep not 00:11:09.60\00:11:14.77 the reason we're here... is because of the Lamb 00:11:14.80\00:11:17.11 that was slain from the foundation of the world. " 00:11:17.14\00:11:19.37 Yvonne: Hmmm... hmmm... hmmm... hmmm... 00:11:19.44\00:11:21.11 James: Behold the Lion of... so he's looking right? 00:11:21.14\00:11:23.38 He's looking for this Lion of the tribe of Judah, 00:11:23.41\00:11:25.88 he's looking around, this Lion of the tribe of Judah, 00:11:25.91\00:11:28.35 and what does he see? 00:11:28.38\00:11:30.22 He sees a Lamb as it had been slain... 00:11:30.25\00:11:36.16 and this is where the symbol of the Lamb is first introduced 00:11:36.19\00:11:39.46 and when it's introduced, 00:11:39.49\00:11:40.83 it's introduced in relation to being slain... 00:11:40.86\00:11:43.26 in other words, this symbol represents the cross or Calvary, 00:11:43.33\00:11:47.67 the Lamb slain is directing us to Christ crucified, 00:11:47.70\00:11:53.07 Christ crucified is now the central theme 00:11:53.11\00:11:56.08 of the Book of Revelation because we're going to see 00:11:56.11\00:11:58.95 this symbol of the Lamb repeated over and over again 00:11:59.01\00:12:01.82 throughout the Book of Revelation. 00:12:01.85\00:12:03.18 Whenever it says, "They followed the Lamb... 00:12:03.22\00:12:05.05 the Lamb's Book of Life... " it's talking about the cross, 00:12:05.09\00:12:07.42 it's talking about Calvary, it's talking about that focus... 00:12:07.46\00:12:09.76 that we... it needs to be central 00:12:09.82\00:12:11.16 with the Christian experience, "Behold the cross... 00:12:11.19\00:12:13.76 look to the cross... meditate on the cross... 00:12:13.80\00:12:15.43 spend a thoughtful hour a day meditating on the life of Christ 00:12:15.46\00:12:17.77 especially the closing scenes 00:12:17.80\00:12:19.13 because that is the key that is the secret. 00:12:19.17\00:12:22.10 Ivor: So, as we look at this particular verse, 00:12:22.14\00:12:25.11 it points us to a Lamb as it had been slain, 00:12:25.14\00:12:28.04 in other words... John is looking... he is seeing, 00:12:28.08\00:12:30.65 "this is Christ, after His resurrection... " 00:12:30.71\00:12:33.98 so here's what we can tell from this, 00:12:34.02\00:12:36.15 remember, we talked about... 00:12:36.18\00:12:37.89 this is the prelude to the seven seals, 00:12:37.92\00:12:39.89 remember we said, one through seven represents 00:12:39.92\00:12:42.62 a complete cycle of time, so the beginning... 00:12:42.66\00:12:45.29 the opening vision lets us know when do we start looking... 00:12:45.33\00:12:48.66 what time do we connect that first seal with 00:12:48.70\00:12:52.70 and when does it end, 00:12:52.73\00:12:54.14 so what we know is that the first seal, 00:12:54.17\00:12:56.37 must begin sometime shortly 00:12:56.40\00:12:59.27 after the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, 00:12:59.31\00:13:03.04 right, because the opening vision... 00:13:03.08\00:13:05.81 John sees Him as a Lamb that had been slain, 00:13:05.85\00:13:09.15 so now we know, 00:13:09.18\00:13:10.59 "Okay, well, whatever this first seal is, 00:13:10.62\00:13:12.29 it's going to have to be some time shortly after the death, 00:13:12.32\00:13:14.89 burial and resurrection of Christ... " 00:13:14.92\00:13:16.26 and what we can now double check that... right, 00:13:16.29\00:13:20.46 when we jump over to the churches 00:13:20.50\00:13:22.16 and we see... "Well look, the first church 00:13:22.20\00:13:24.40 is just after the death of Christ, 00:13:24.43\00:13:26.94 so the first seal is going to parallel the first church. " 00:13:26.97\00:13:31.34 James: Yes... Yvonne: Ah... 00:13:31.37\00:13:32.71 Ivor: So now we're checking in multiple ways. 00:13:32.74\00:13:35.01 Yvonne: Okay, we're doing time and location. 00:13:35.04\00:13:37.51 Ivor and James: Time and location. 00:13:37.55\00:13:38.88 James: And there is something else here too 00:13:38.91\00:13:40.62 in this verse, verse 6, it says, 00:13:40.65\00:13:42.28 "And I beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne 00:13:42.32\00:13:47.62 and in the midst of the four beasts, 00:13:47.66\00:13:50.23 and in the midst of the elders, 00:13:50.29\00:13:51.73 stood a Lamb as it had been slain, 00:13:51.76\00:13:53.26 having seven horns and seven eyes, 00:13:53.29\00:13:54.80 which are the seven Spirits of God 00:13:54.83\00:13:56.30 sent forth into all the earth. " 00:13:56.33\00:13:57.73 Now, Ivor was just saying, "We have Calvary here... " 00:13:57.77\00:14:00.67 but also what we have... is... we have the Spirit of God 00:14:00.70\00:14:03.41 sent forth into all the earth, 00:14:03.44\00:14:04.77 in chapter 4, in verse 5, "And out of the throne 00:14:04.81\00:14:08.78 proceeded lightnings and thunders and voices: 00:14:08.81\00:14:12.91 and there were seven lamps of fire 00:14:12.95\00:14:14.42 burning before the throne, 00:14:14.45\00:14:15.78 which are the seven Spirits of God. " 00:14:15.82\00:14:17.52 In chapter 4 and verse 5, 00:14:17.55\00:14:19.59 the seven Spirits of God or the Holy Spirit... 00:14:19.62\00:14:21.56 that's what's being represented here, 00:14:21.59\00:14:23.49 is before the throne, 00:14:23.53\00:14:24.86 in chapter 5... it's sent forth into all the earth, 00:14:24.89\00:14:26.80 what makes the difference? Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:14:26.83\00:14:29.06 Jesus said, "I'm going to go to my Father," 00:14:29.10\00:14:31.23 this is after His resurrection. Yvonne: Right... 00:14:31.27\00:14:32.90 James: "and I'm going to send you a Comforter... " 00:14:32.93\00:14:34.50 actually He said it before His resurrection, 00:14:34.54\00:14:35.87 "I'm going to send you a Comforter... " 00:14:35.90\00:14:37.24 so, here is another confirmation of the timeframe, 00:14:37.27\00:14:40.44 this is showing us that this... 00:14:40.48\00:14:42.78 the timing of the opening of the first seals 00:14:42.81\00:14:45.61 is going to be in the Apostolic Age... 00:14:45.65\00:14:47.75 when Jesus ascends to the Father, 00:14:47.78\00:14:49.75 when His sacrifice on Calvary is accepted 00:14:49.78\00:14:51.55 and when the Holy Spirit is poured out. 00:14:51.62\00:14:54.42 Yvonne: Okay... Ivor: So we have Pentecost. 00:14:54.46\00:14:56.36 James: We have Pentecost... one more thing here 00:14:56.39\00:14:58.26 and I think it's really powerful, 00:14:58.29\00:14:59.83 I want us to go back here to verse 5, 00:14:59.86\00:15:01.33 there's a lot in verse 5 and let's just start unpacking it, 00:15:01.36\00:15:03.63 one of the elders... we noticed that that was connecting us 00:15:03.67\00:15:08.34 to people who had been redeemed, 00:15:08.37\00:15:10.44 said unto me, "Weep not... " gospel... 00:15:10.47\00:15:13.21 "behold, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah... " 00:15:13.24\00:15:15.01 this is how we experience the gospel... 00:15:15.04\00:15:16.75 by beholding Christ... "the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, 00:15:16.78\00:15:19.11 the Root of David has prevailed... " 00:15:19.15\00:15:21.42 James: Now let's just hang on that word for just a second 00:15:21.45\00:15:24.65 because that word... 00:15:24.69\00:15:26.02 traces all the way through the Book of Revelation, 00:15:26.05\00:15:28.79 it goes back to the churches and it goes forward, 00:15:28.82\00:15:31.69 and the word is Nikaó... it's the Greek word, 00:15:31.73\00:15:34.56 it's the same word that is used in the closing of every church 00:15:34.60\00:15:38.73 when it says, "to him that overcomes," 00:15:38.77\00:15:41.10 to him that overcomes... to him that overcomes. 00:15:41.14\00:15:42.67 Yvonne: So... He has overcome... 00:15:42.70\00:15:44.64 James: Yes! Jesus has prevailed where we have failed. 00:15:44.67\00:15:47.84 Yvonne: Oooo... I'm getting chills... 00:15:47.88\00:15:50.11 no man in heaven... no man in earth... 00:15:50.15\00:15:52.41 no man under the earth... can prevail 00:15:52.48\00:15:54.68 but Jesus has prevailed, so look to Him... 00:15:54.72\00:15:57.32 look to... you need to overcome... 00:15:57.35\00:15:59.19 you need to... every church... you need to overcome... 00:15:59.22\00:16:01.72 well, how do we overcome? 00:16:01.76\00:16:03.36 Well, let's get into the seals, let's get into our second 00:16:03.39\00:16:05.76 outline here, our second... snap snap... 00:16:05.79\00:16:09.96 the word I'm using... going back to Revelation... 00:16:10.00\00:16:12.93 Ivor: Our second Cycle? 00:16:12.97\00:16:17.77 James: Cycle... cycle... cycle, let's go into our second cycle 00:16:17.81\00:16:20.51 because the second cycle tells us how we overcome 00:16:20.58\00:16:22.18 and the third cycle tells us a little bit more 00:16:22.21\00:16:23.81 and the fourth cycle tells us a little bit more, 00:16:23.85\00:16:25.41 you see what I'm saying, in other words, 00:16:25.45\00:16:27.32 Revelation is not just a bunch of symbols, 00:16:27.35\00:16:29.08 pointing out history... past, present and future... 00:16:29.12\00:16:31.15 Revelation is pointing us to God... 00:16:31.22\00:16:32.75 to the Plan of Salvation, to how we overcome, 00:16:32.79\00:16:35.59 we do it by beholding Christ, 00:16:35.62\00:16:37.23 we connect with Him and we're going to see this even more 00:16:37.26\00:16:39.09 when the first horse comes out, 00:16:39.13\00:16:40.46 because that same word, "Nikaó" is used 00:16:40.50\00:16:41.96 in the first horse "going forth conquering and to conquer" 00:16:42.00\00:16:44.47 it's going to be huge right there, 00:16:44.50\00:16:46.33 but we're getting a clue now, 00:16:46.37\00:16:48.10 "you need to overcome, you need to overcome, 00:16:48.14\00:16:49.70 you need to overcome... " how do we overcome? 00:16:49.74\00:16:51.91 Not any man in heaven, not any man in earth, 00:16:51.94\00:16:53.88 not any man under the earth, 00:16:53.91\00:16:55.24 the way you overcome is by looking to the Lamb, 00:16:55.28\00:16:56.78 He's the one who has prevailed, where you have failed, 00:16:56.81\00:16:59.21 Yvonne: Ah... yeah... 00:16:59.28\00:17:00.62 James: Key principle, key truth that's being taught here. 00:17:00.65\00:17:03.72 Ivor: Yeah, so I want to point out something else here 00:17:03.75\00:17:06.42 same chapter... same verse rather... 00:17:06.45\00:17:09.42 verse 5... it says, "One of the elders said unto me, 00:17:09.46\00:17:12.29 Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, 00:17:12.36\00:17:15.16 the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book... " 00:17:15.20\00:17:19.57 so... so one of the things that we should do... 00:17:19.60\00:17:21.60 whenever we're studying the Scripture... 00:17:21.64\00:17:22.97 a term jumps out to you... 00:17:23.00\00:17:24.34 term that looks like... "Hmmm... what is that about?" 00:17:24.37\00:17:26.57 Always try to go back and see if we can find more information 00:17:26.61\00:17:30.68 on that term... and so... this "Root of David... " 00:17:30.71\00:17:33.72 that seems like a... 00:17:33.75\00:17:35.38 just kind of like a weird term to put in there, 00:17:35.42\00:17:37.95 right in the middle of this... "the Root of David... " 00:17:37.99\00:17:40.32 so what in the world is that talking about? 00:17:40.36\00:17:42.02 "The Root of David... " how is Jesus the Root of David? 00:17:42.06\00:17:44.23 Well, if you go back with me to the Book of Isaiah chapter 11 00:17:44.26\00:17:47.56 Isaiah chapter 11 and verse 1... 00:17:47.60\00:17:52.30 Isaiah 11 verse 1 actually makes that same mention 00:17:52.33\00:18:00.28 and here's what it says, Isaiah 11 verse 1... 00:18:00.31\00:18:05.31 we'll also go and look at verse 10... 00:18:05.38\00:18:06.78 it says, "And there shall come forth a rod 00:18:06.82\00:18:09.62 out of the stem of Jesse, 00:18:09.65\00:18:12.22 and a Branch shall grow out of his roots... " 00:18:12.25\00:18:15.02 okay... all right... so, wow, there is where that term is from 00:18:15.06\00:18:18.89 and let's look at verse 10, 00:18:18.93\00:18:20.26 "And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, 00:18:20.30\00:18:23.43 which shall stand for an end sign of the people; 00:18:23.47\00:18:26.74 to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious" 00:18:26.77\00:18:29.57 Yvonne: Hmmm... 00:18:29.60\00:18:30.94 Ivor: Okay, so this root of Jesse points us to 00:18:30.97\00:18:33.34 something else because now we want to know... 00:18:33.38\00:18:36.44 well, Stem of Jesse, we're like... 00:18:36.48\00:18:38.31 where does that story of Jesse and David come from 00:18:38.35\00:18:41.92 and actually it comes from the story of Ruth... 00:18:41.98\00:18:45.52 so let's go back to the Book of Ruth... 00:18:45.55\00:18:48.42 let's go over to Ruth chapter 4... 00:18:48.46\00:18:50.36 Ruth chapter 1 actually... and in the story of Ruth... 00:18:50.39\00:18:56.00 I'll try to summarize it but Ruth is married to... 00:18:56.03\00:19:01.54 I'm sorry...
