Welcome to Bird Flu part three. 00:00:30.22\00:00:33.41 Here with me again is Amber Bell; 00:00:33.97\00:00:36.19 she is a doctor of science and physical 00:00:36.62\00:00:38.79 therapy. And I'm Dr. Clack, hopefully 00:00:38.80\00:00:41.76 you never get to this point, you followed all 00:00:41.77\00:00:43.61 of the stuff on prevention that we 00:00:43.62\00:00:45.64 talked about in the first talks, 00:00:45.65\00:00:47.43 but inevitably somebody is gonna come down 00:00:48.00\00:00:50.50 with the bird flu and you may need 00:00:50.51\00:00:52.53 to treat that. So, we're going to go 00:00:52.54\00:00:55.47 through this step-by-step 00:00:55.48\00:00:57.35 and tell you what to do. 00:00:57.36\00:00:58.82 Say I'm starting to get the flu. What 00:00:59.78\00:01:02.52 type of symptoms would I be experiencing? 00:01:02.53\00:01:04.73 Well, Amber usually the flu starts off 00:01:05.35\00:01:07.40 with a lot of aches and pains, your muscles 00:01:07.41\00:01:10.13 hurt and you might have a sore throat, 00:01:10.14\00:01:12.44 also you can have a headache, 00:01:12.82\00:01:14.33 okay, you just feel generally a little bit 00:01:14.34\00:01:16.44 run down. Say these symptoms start to get 00:01:16.45\00:01:18.73 worse. What, what could I expect to happen? 00:01:18.74\00:01:21.61 Progressive symptoms include a 00:01:21.78\00:01:23.36 worsening sore throat and you'll have a 00:01:23.37\00:01:26.33 headache that will get worse, it might be more 00:01:26.34\00:01:29.26 behind your eyes then anywhere, 00:01:29.27\00:01:31.16 your whole body aches will increase. 00:01:32.60\00:01:34.70 Also your eyes might start getting red. 00:01:35.39\00:01:38.03 A lot of people get what we called 00:01:38.04\00:01:39.59 conjunctivitis; it goes right along with the flu. 00:01:39.60\00:01:42.92 So, it sounds like the symptoms 00:01:43.39\00:01:44.36 that we've talked about just get more tense 00:01:44.37\00:01:47.13 and then start to add possibly eye symptoms 00:01:47.14\00:01:49.66 and that sort of thing. That's right. 00:01:49.67\00:01:51.30 Anything else start to happen to the body, 00:01:51.31\00:01:52.94 for intense your temperature, 00:01:52.95\00:01:54.19 does that get affected by the flu? 00:01:54.20\00:01:56.05 Yes, Amber. The temperature often 00:01:56.06\00:01:57.93 goes up and it could go as high as a 103, 00:01:57.94\00:02:01.80 people will get chills. And chills are 00:02:02.52\00:02:04.49 really a sign that you're colder than you 00:02:04.50\00:02:06.16 want to be, it means your body is trying 00:02:06.17\00:02:07.78 to produce the heat to raise your temperature. 00:02:07.79\00:02:10.03 And then you get worse malice, 00:02:10.80\00:02:12.81 we call it malice exhaustion, tiredness. 00:02:12.82\00:02:15.60 Oh! I don't feel good; I don't know I just 00:02:15.61\00:02:17.75 wanna go lay down. A cough might start. 00:02:17.76\00:02:20.47 This is a sign that it's affecting your throat 00:02:20.97\00:02:23.00 and your lungs. Cough is not a good sign and, 00:02:23.01\00:02:26.32 but this can be a regular flu as well as 00:02:26.33\00:02:28.22 the bird flu. Okay. People lose their 00:02:28.23\00:02:30.21 appetite. And this is something that the 00:02:30.22\00:02:33.69 flu bug does to people and along with this 00:02:33.70\00:02:36.48 comes nausea and so it's a 00:02:36.49\00:02:39.52 generally a, a bad picture. 00:02:39.53\00:02:41.88 Now, what type of symptoms did they 00:02:42.80\00:02:44.65 experience back in 1918 with the bird flu? 00:02:44.66\00:02:47.61 Well, 1918 bird flu was pretty dramatic. 00:02:47.62\00:02:50.70 And what happened then as it started out 00:02:51.15\00:02:53.92 like the regular seasonal flu, 00:02:53.93\00:02:55.78 but instead getting over it by the third or fifth 00:02:55.79\00:02:59.96 day, the patients continued to have 00:02:59.97\00:03:02.21 fevers, progressive, shortness of breath, 00:03:02.22\00:03:05.03 lack of oxygen in their circulation causing 00:03:05.88\00:03:08.58 kind of a blue color all over the body, 00:03:08.59\00:03:10.61 they call it cyanosis. And often times they 00:03:10.62\00:03:15.21 would be coughing up sputum that would be 00:03:15.22\00:03:17.89 frothy, red-tinged, pink-tinged, little 00:03:17.90\00:03:22.05 blood, very ominous signs for a flu. 00:03:22.06\00:03:26.88 Okay, so it sounds in 1918 progressed 00:03:26.89\00:03:29.50 pretty quickly passing normal symptoms to 00:03:29.51\00:03:32.01 these more severe symptoms. Yeah. 00:03:32.02\00:03:33.86 Any thing else like along with these more 00:03:34.79\00:03:36.06 severe symptoms that we should looking out for? 00:03:36.07\00:03:38.19 Yes, if you're getting the bird flu, 00:03:38.76\00:03:40.18 one of the things the people particularly 00:03:40.19\00:03:42.78 complaint of is that they had a headache 00:03:42.79\00:03:46.19 right behind the eyes; it was like a serene 00:03:46.20\00:03:49.58 headache. A headache that just wouldn't go 00:03:49.59\00:03:51.72 away and the fever would continue to raise, 00:03:51.73\00:03:55.22 but in order to raise the fever they would 00:03:55.23\00:03:57.44 get some really, what they called shaking 00:03:57.45\00:04:00.50 chills, uncontrollable shaking. And this was 00:04:00.51\00:04:06.70 talked about a quite a bit, 00:04:06.71\00:04:08.24 teeth chattering, bone shaking, terrific pain 00:04:08.25\00:04:12.16 almost everywhere. And joint pain with agony 00:04:12.17\00:04:16.71 they described it. Burning pain just 00:04:16.72\00:04:19.62 above the diaphragm, you can imagine 00:04:19.63\00:04:21.74 right above your stomach and this 00:04:21.75\00:04:23.69 of course is the base of the lungs. 00:04:23.70\00:04:25.61 So, very, very progressive then 00:04:25.62\00:04:28.06 the heart would start beating really hard. 00:04:28.07\00:04:30.12 We're talking pounding fast, we call 00:04:30.75\00:04:34.04 it tachycardia and palpitations, so lungs 00:04:34.05\00:04:37.41 are especially hit. They, they would 00:04:37.42\00:04:40.62 come up gasping for air, they'd be 00:04:40.63\00:04:43.47 turning blue, they'd be coughing up blood 00:04:43.48\00:04:46.12 that would be originating from 00:04:46.13\00:04:47.24 the lungs, they would have this foamy sputum. 00:04:47.25\00:04:50.77 This would be what we call a viral pneumonia. 00:04:51.22\00:04:54.56 And a viral pneumonia would end up destroying 00:04:54.57\00:04:58.93 the lungs and causing to start bleeding. 00:04:58.94\00:05:00.65 We have reports of patients dying within 00:05:00.66\00:05:02.40 24-hours of getting flu, but then if they 00:05:02.41\00:05:05.97 survive the flu within, within a month 00:05:05.98\00:05:08.82 they could still get 00:05:08.83\00:05:09.80 a pneumonia from bacteria. 00:05:09.81\00:05:11.44 'Cause their immune system was 00:05:11.45\00:05:12.82 so drained from fighting off the flu, 00:05:12.83\00:05:14.43 it seems like that would just be a 00:05:14.44\00:05:15.41 breeding ground for anything that 00:05:15.42\00:05:16.39 could come in and attack the body 00:05:16.40\00:05:18.27 at that point. Yes. So, basically if you 00:05:18.28\00:05:21.07 survived these symptoms you're still 00:05:21.08\00:05:23.00 not out of the woods yet. That's right. 00:05:23.01\00:05:24.86 Okay. You could still be dying of pneumonia. 00:05:24.87\00:05:27.40 Tell me a little bit about what conventional 00:05:27.94\00:05:29.79 medicine does as far as treatment? 00:05:29.80\00:05:31.40 Basically we're looking forward to treating 00:05:31.41\00:05:33.71 the bird flu with what we've 00:05:33.72\00:05:34.70 been treating regular flu with. 00:05:34.71\00:05:37.16 But it's sounds more severe. That's right. 00:05:37.17\00:05:39.54 Well, tell me what they're 00:05:39.55\00:05:40.52 using for treating the regular flu? 00:05:40.53\00:05:42.34 First of all we put them to bed, 00:05:42.63\00:05:43.90 we start having them take fluids, 00:05:44.60\00:05:46.47 if they came to the hospital or been IV, 00:05:46.48\00:05:48.29 if you're home and would be drinking 00:05:48.30\00:05:49.47 water. We have them take a few things 00:05:49.48\00:05:52.36 to try to get the fever down, usually 00:05:52.37\00:05:54.52 pharmacological agents like Acetaminophen or 00:05:54.53\00:05:57.98 Tylenol. We discourage Aspirin because it has 00:05:57.99\00:06:01.87 some side-effects and the patient 00:06:01.88\00:06:03.87 with the viral illness that aren't good. 00:06:03.88\00:06:05.82 Decongestants you know, people run for 00:06:05.83\00:06:08.27 the Dynatap, ephedrine or whatever, yep. 00:06:08.28\00:06:11.68 There's cough syrups, people have 00:06:12.76\00:06:14.50 their favorite cough syrup, their favorite 00:06:14.51\00:06:16.10 brand. And then there is anti-virals. 00:06:16.11\00:06:19.03 These we'll talk a little bit more about, 00:06:19.61\00:06:21.49 but these are pills that are designed to 00:06:21.50\00:06:23.61 fight the virus themselves. 00:06:23.62\00:06:25.39 Then if a patient was to get some kind 00:06:26.17\00:06:28.38 of secondary bacterial infection 00:06:28.39\00:06:30.13 we would have anti-biotics. 00:06:30.14\00:06:31.92 You send, send the patients to bed, 00:06:31.93\00:06:34.59 that probably the best 00:06:34.60\00:06:35.80 treatment for the patient? 00:06:35.81\00:06:36.98 In studies in animals where they've given 00:06:37.80\00:06:39.84 the animals influenza and they used 00:06:39.85\00:06:42.00 two groups, one group got to exercise 00:06:42.01\00:06:44.21 and the other group got sent to bed, 00:06:44.22\00:06:46.02 but once they wouldn't exercised actually 00:06:46.03\00:06:48.55 did better more than survive lesser than died. 00:06:48.56\00:06:51.40 And so, we're wondering if a little exercise 00:06:51.98\00:06:54.96 we're not talking fatigue, but some 00:06:54.97\00:06:56.79 movements especially outside in the open air, 00:06:56.80\00:06:59.07 wouldn't be good for patients? 00:06:59.08\00:07:01.11 Okay, keeping up the fresh air. Yes, 00:07:01.12\00:07:03.94 fresh air, that's right. And you're, 00:07:03.95\00:07:05.76 you mentioned also 00:07:05.77\00:07:07.01 Acetaminophen or Tylenol. 00:07:07.02\00:07:08.61 The Acetaminophen or Tylenol has a 00:07:09.44\00:07:11.37 potential to exacerbate the consequences 00:07:11.38\00:07:14.39 of any viral infection. It decreases 00:07:14.40\00:07:17.59 the immune response to the viruses. 00:07:17.60\00:07:19.47 So, it actually hurts your immune system? 00:07:19.48\00:07:21.11 It does, okay, it actually does. 00:07:21.12\00:07:23.49 It can also hurt your liver as well. 00:07:23.50\00:07:25.50 So, getting your temperature down 00:07:26.09\00:07:28.38 through pharmacological means may 00:07:28.39\00:07:31.04 not be the best option, the best option. 00:07:31.05\00:07:33.49 You also mentioned anti-virals, 00:07:33.50\00:07:35.64 I would think man, that's a great idea, 00:07:35.65\00:07:37.51 I'll just go out and take 00:07:37.52\00:07:38.63 something to fight the virus. 00:07:38.64\00:07:40.06 That's right, call in the troops, 00:07:40.54\00:07:42.53 that's right, send them after the virus. 00:07:42.54\00:07:44.11 Our most recent ones are Tamiflu 00:07:45.80\00:07:48.29 and Relenza. Tamiflu I remember 00:07:48.30\00:07:51.23 when it came out, it never was marketed 00:07:51.24\00:07:53.09 as you know the army to chase down the bird flu. 00:07:53.10\00:07:56.07 Have they done any studies with these 00:07:57.04\00:07:58.19 anti-virals with certain populations 00:07:58.20\00:08:00.54 and human populations 00:08:00.55\00:08:01.79 to see if they affect the flu? 00:08:01.80\00:08:03.92 Well, we have these cases over in China, 00:08:04.28\00:08:06.58 bird flu that have been happening 00:08:06.59\00:08:08.09 and in Vietnam and in Indonesia. 00:08:08.67\00:08:10.88 They have been candying out the Tamiflu 00:08:11.66\00:08:13.79 to people with the bird flu, the way 00:08:13.80\00:08:16.69 you're supposed to give it is you're supposed 00:08:16.70\00:08:18.49 to give it the first day the symptoms 00:08:18.50\00:08:20.48 show up and they've done that and people 00:08:20.49\00:08:22.96 have still died. So, they're worried 00:08:22.97\00:08:25.63 that there is some resistance. 00:08:25.64\00:08:26.80 What about in 1918 were they able to find 00:08:26.81\00:08:29.52 a treatment options that affected 00:08:29.53\00:08:31.14 people with more serious bird flu? 00:08:31.15\00:08:33.77 Well, they tried a number of things 00:08:34.33\00:08:35.90 Dr. Alfred Stengel, infectious disease 00:08:35.91\00:08:39.12 expert told a bunch of medical students 00:08:39.13\00:08:40.92 in 1918, they had tried gargles that is 00:08:40.93\00:08:44.96 mouth washes, they had tried drugs, 00:08:44.97\00:08:47.17 and they had tried immune sera, 00:08:47.18\00:08:49.37 everything they tried seem 00:08:49.38\00:08:51.00 to make no difference at all. 00:08:51.01\00:08:52.30 Nothing seem to really affect 00:08:52.31\00:08:53.73 the people with the bird flu. 00:08:53.74\00:08:54.87 Nothing seem to work, that's exactly right. 00:08:55.55\00:08:57.50 Wow! Well, say I'm coming down 00:08:57.51\00:09:00.01 with the bird flu what, 00:09:00.02\00:09:01.31 what do we suggest we do? 00:09:01.32\00:09:02.91 You know, in our second talk we talked 00:09:03.59\00:09:05.60 about prevention. And we mentioned 00:09:05.61\00:09:08.09 the eight natural doctors and those were 00:09:08.10\00:09:10.84 pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, 00:09:10.85\00:09:14.44 exercise, proper diet, use of water and, trust 00:09:14.45\00:09:19.03 in divine power. And this would definitely be 00:09:19.04\00:09:22.75 a time to make sure you're acquainted 00:09:22.76\00:09:24.93 with each one of those, yep, and practicing 00:09:24.94\00:09:26.67 each one of those because each one 00:09:26.68\00:09:28.29 of those stimulates immune system not only 00:09:28.30\00:09:30.39 for prevention, but also for cure. 00:09:30.40\00:09:33.86 Okay, you mentioned fruits and vegetables 00:09:33.87\00:09:35.64 it diet. Tell me a little bit about 00:09:35.65\00:09:37.44 what is required in diet to 00:09:37.45\00:09:39.47 strengthen the immune system? 00:09:39.48\00:09:40.89 Yeah, lets review that a little bit. 00:09:41.37\00:09:42.93 Besides the whole list of things we gave 00:09:42.94\00:09:45.70 in the last talk. When you actually 00:09:45.71\00:09:48.00 come down with the flu we don't want you 00:09:48.01\00:09:49.87 to necessarily overeat. We're thinking that 00:09:49.88\00:09:53.16 you want to have a more sparse diet. 00:09:53.17\00:09:55.59 In fact, if you feed the animals less 00:09:55.60\00:09:57.73 they've the flu they survive better. 00:09:57.74\00:09:59.54 A little bit of calorie 00:09:59.55\00:10:00.52 restriction then, yes, okay. 00:10:00.53\00:10:02.80 And we're talking especially junk empty 00:10:02.81\00:10:05.29 calories. No sugar. No sugar, eat things 00:10:05.30\00:10:08.72 that are especially nutritious. 00:10:08.73\00:10:10.35 Vegetable juices might be a good one. 00:10:11.11\00:10:12.86 Fruit juices might have too much sugar, 00:10:12.87\00:10:14.86 yeah, but vegetable juices, choose foods 00:10:14.87\00:10:17.61 from previous lecture if possible, 00:10:17.62\00:10:19.35 things that are high in vitamin A, vitamin E, 00:10:19.36\00:10:22.07 selenium, zinc. And there is other things 00:10:22.08\00:10:24.46 you can eat too that are healthful, 00:10:24.47\00:10:25.88 especially garlic keeps the flu away, 00:10:25.89\00:10:29.12 keeps the friends away. 00:10:29.13\00:10:30.36 And keeps everything maintains that 00:10:30.37\00:10:32.40 quarantine distance. So, you mentioned 00:10:32.41\00:10:34.26 diet as a, a big component. 00:10:34.27\00:10:36.08 And I suppose it's not probably what you 00:10:36.09\00:10:38.12 eat and so much as you what you don't eat, 00:10:38.13\00:10:39.63 you mentioned stay away from sugar, yes 00:10:39.64\00:10:41.63 and which actually, probably your lower 00:10:41.64\00:10:42.98 immune system, so, that's right, that some, 00:10:42.99\00:10:45.19 that's important. So, you also mentioned 00:10:45.20\00:10:47.12 prayer, believing in divine power that also 00:10:47.13\00:10:51.05 is affective for your immune system 00:10:51.06\00:10:52.80 and for fighting off the flu. 00:10:52.81\00:10:54.00 Sure it is, people who are prayed for 00:10:54.01\00:10:57.23 also do better, they did some study on 00:10:57.24\00:10:59.86 patient in an ICU. The ICU patients 00:10:59.87\00:11:03.00 were prayed for; some of them were prayed 00:11:03.01\00:11:04.74 for, some of them weren't, the patients 00:11:04.75\00:11:06.82 who are prayed for required significantly 00:11:06.83\00:11:09.34 less ventilator assistance, antibiotics 00:11:09.35\00:11:12.32 and diuretics. Praying for patients is 00:11:12.33\00:11:15.00 you know, if I'm coming down 00:11:15.01\00:11:16.13 with the bird flu, oh! Everybody pray. 00:11:16.14\00:11:17.97 It sounds like there might be someone up 00:11:19.31\00:11:21.05 there helping you out, the man who 00:11:21.06\00:11:22.64 created the immune system, there you go, 00:11:22.65\00:11:24.58 the great healer. So, you've addressed 00:11:24.59\00:11:26.30 you know prevention which I think is very, 00:11:26.31\00:11:27.96 very important, as like you said 00:11:27.97\00:11:29.58 the stitching time saves nine, so it's much 00:11:29.59\00:11:32.35 better to catch that at the beginning, 00:11:32.36\00:11:33.62 but if I do start to progress with the 00:11:33.63\00:11:35.99 symptoms of the flu and I'm not able 00:11:36.00\00:11:37.82 to stop it with the hot and cold baths 00:11:37.83\00:11:40.29 and the charcoal and the diet and fresh air 00:11:40.30\00:11:42.24 and sunshine, is there help you know what, 00:11:43.02\00:11:45.94 what can I address, you said some of the 00:11:45.95\00:11:47.16 conventional stuff just isn't quite coming 00:11:47.17\00:11:49.30 in with the people who had it over in Asia. 00:11:49.31\00:11:51.09 That's right, it wouldn't be that Modern 00:11:51.10\00:11:54.59 Medicine wouldn't have answers, 00:11:54.60\00:11:55.64 it'd be that the answers are too few, 00:11:55.65\00:11:58.24 the far between. You made be stuck 00:11:58.25\00:12:00.43 at home in quarantine. You may need to know 00:12:00.44\00:12:02.53 this stuff for your own good, even 00:12:02.54\00:12:04.54 if you have the best doctor in the world 00:12:04.55\00:12:05.79 just right around the corner, he may be 00:12:05.80\00:12:07.26 sick too. Right. So, you need to know 00:12:07.27\00:12:09.76 what to do for yourself in the situation. 00:12:09.77\00:12:13.12 Okay. So, we do have some things that we can't 00:12:13.13\00:12:16.05 do and we learn this from the 1918 flu. 00:12:16.06\00:12:18.67 While the hospitals were losing many 00:12:19.55\00:12:21.30 of their flu cases, the non-medical 00:12:21.31\00:12:23.28 hospitals such as John Harvey Kellogg's 00:12:23.29\00:12:25.54 Battle Creek sanitarium, or Mcfadden's 00:12:25.55\00:12:28.59 Health-Restorium were getting almost 100% 00:12:28.60\00:12:31.28 healing with their water cure. 00:12:31.29\00:12:32.72 Wov! Baths and enemas. We could follow 00:12:32.73\00:12:35.25 their methods, then we might at least have 00:12:35.26\00:12:38.54 some success. Yes, definitely in some 00:12:38.55\00:12:40.97 of the street there already, let's look at 00:12:40.98\00:12:42.73 what kind of results they got. 00:12:42.74\00:12:44.28 We talked about mortality of the 00:12:44.67\00:12:47.12 influenza cases, those that went to be 00:12:47.13\00:12:49.63 army hospitals 6.9% died, these are 00:12:49.64\00:12:54.54 the once that passed away and this is 00:12:54.55\00:12:55.96 according to this article. And those that 00:12:55.97\00:12:59.00 treated themselves at home with hydrotherapy 00:12:59.01\00:13:01.53 4% died. So, this is about almost half 00:13:02.17\00:13:05.85 and then of those who went to the sanitarians 00:13:06.67\00:13:10.67 only 1½ % died. Oh! Wow! Hydrotherapy 00:13:11.43\00:13:15.68 used to be a big part of physical therapy, 00:13:15.69\00:13:17.99 yep, yep. You said, often still 00:13:18.00\00:13:19.38 in the hospitals for room care for 00:13:19.39\00:13:20.91 encouraging circulation and that sort of thing. 00:13:20.92\00:13:22.99 Correct, well you know, hydrotherapy, 00:13:23.00\00:13:25.30 I've heard about water, what is hydrotherapy? 00:13:25.31\00:13:27.92 That's a great question? Hydrotherapy, 00:13:27.93\00:13:30.29 hydro water, the use of water, 00:13:30.30\00:13:33.42 in any of it's forms, hot, cold that 00:13:33.43\00:13:35.27 sort of thing for maintenance of health 00:13:35.28\00:13:37.14 and the treatment of disease. 00:13:37.15\00:13:38.54 Oh! So, basically hydrotherapy is using 00:13:38.55\00:13:40.21 water to treat illness. Hot water for instance 00:13:40.22\00:13:44.05 can be applied to the body either with 00:13:44.06\00:13:45.66 hot packs or foot packs that sort of thing 00:13:45.67\00:13:47.64 we'll talk about the different methods, 00:13:47.65\00:13:49.08 but hot water can be used to dilate 00:13:49.09\00:13:51.32 local blood vessels and increase blood flow 00:13:51.33\00:13:53.43 to that area to relieve pain, congestion, 00:13:53.44\00:13:55.91 muscle cramps inflammation. 00:13:55.92\00:13:57.76 Basically it moves blood by attracting 00:13:57.77\00:14:00.05 it to the place of warmth and by a reflex 00:14:00.06\00:14:01.97 reaction. And cold water similar principle, 00:14:01.98\00:14:04.63 it's used to constrict the blood vessels 00:14:04.64\00:14:06.75 and decrease the blood flow to that area. 00:14:06.76\00:14:08.71 And it moves blood away from the area, 00:14:08.72\00:14:10.97 the local area that you're trying to 00:14:10.98\00:14:12.21 address the reflexive reaction. 00:14:12.22\00:14:13.93 Oh! Okay, so if I want the blood to move 00:14:14.48\00:14:17.57 from this end of the table to that end 00:14:17.58\00:14:19.30 I've make this end cold and that end hot, 00:14:19.31\00:14:21.37 the blood will move that way. 00:14:21.38\00:14:22.45 That's the principle. Well, that's great 00:14:22.46\00:14:24.68 and perfect health depends on, 00:14:24.69\00:14:26.94 perfect circulation. So, we're really 00:14:26.95\00:14:28.86 working on circulation, that's right. 00:14:28.87\00:14:30.41 Different things that you'll need that 00:14:30.42\00:14:32.44 would be good to have, is a thermometer, 00:14:32.45\00:14:34.53 actually two thermometers. 00:14:34.54\00:14:35.90 One to check the temperature 00:14:35.91\00:14:37.72 of your water and the other one to check 00:14:37.73\00:14:40.18 the temperature of your patient. So, 00:14:40.19\00:14:42.25 an oral thermometer and a, oh! You know, 00:14:42.26\00:14:45.39 candy thermometers is what I got, yep. 00:14:45.40\00:14:47.84 And then you need some wash clothes 00:14:47.85\00:14:50.05 and you'll be using these to dry different 00:14:50.06\00:14:52.34 areas, you'll be using these to soak 00:14:52.35\00:14:56.07 in cold water and put on people's foreheads 00:14:56.08\00:14:58.35 and different other parts of the body. 00:14:58.36\00:15:00.47 You want a mattress protector, 00:15:00.48\00:15:02.66 you don't want to get your mattress 00:15:02.67\00:15:04.25 wet wherever the patient's laying on, 00:15:04.26\00:15:06.01 so we're talking one of these vinyl mattress 00:15:06.02\00:15:08.45 protector and a pillow protector, 00:15:08.46\00:15:10.55 kitchen towels how about you know, 00:15:11.24\00:15:12.77 6 to 8 kitchen towels around, 00:15:12.78\00:15:14.39 cold compresses just getting cold applied 00:15:14.40\00:15:17.17 to the body, you're using to dry, 00:15:17.18\00:15:18.64 you also use them to keep your hot packs 00:15:18.65\00:15:20.90 from getting too hot, hitting the patient 00:15:20.91\00:15:23.21 too much. There and there is these gel 00:15:23.22\00:15:26.27 packs. I think those are very handy, 00:15:26.28\00:15:27.91 anything you can use for heat. 00:15:27.92\00:15:29.37 Kellogg said you know, you can use 00:15:29.38\00:15:30.95 the fermentation pads that's what they 00:15:30.96\00:15:32.61 used in sanitarian, but he has a whole 00:15:32.62\00:15:35.47 section on what else do use bricks, 00:15:35.48\00:15:37.47 anything that will hold heat for a while. 00:15:37.48\00:15:39.85 Water bottles, yeah, just anything, 00:15:39.86\00:15:42.93 but I like the gel packs you can buy 00:15:42.94\00:15:45.21 in the stores, 'cause they're useable, 00:15:45.22\00:15:46.60 you can throw them in the microwave, 00:15:46.61\00:15:47.71 you can throw them in the freezer, 00:15:47.72\00:15:49.09 they just so you know, versatile, versatile, yes. 00:15:49.10\00:15:52.88 Then that cold mitten friction you can buy 00:15:53.52\00:15:56.56 these terry cloth hot mets that's what I used 00:15:56.57\00:16:00.55 and that what I've got pictured here 00:16:00.56\00:16:02.18 and then you'll need some towels, 00:16:02.19\00:16:03.61 just some regular bath towels both for 00:16:03.62\00:16:05.43 drying the patient, 'cause some of these 00:16:05.44\00:16:07.45 procedures you'll be drying them in between 00:16:07.46\00:16:09.34 every application of hot and cold, 00:16:09.35\00:16:11.59 but also in some cases you'll use them 00:16:12.31\00:16:14.06 to help insulate the patient from the heat 00:16:14.07\00:16:16.66 or to hold the heat in. So, have a stack 00:16:16.67\00:16:19.26 of towels, have a big source of heat. 00:16:19.27\00:16:23.34 Now, you maybe boiling these gel packs 00:16:23.35\00:16:26.49 or towels or whatever you're gonna use 00:16:26.50\00:16:28.33 for your hot, you may wanna big canning pan 00:16:28.34\00:16:33.37 or you may just use your microwave, 00:16:34.04\00:16:35.68 whatever you need source of heat you can 00:16:35.69\00:16:37.83 have a burner and you can buy and put 00:16:37.84\00:16:40.53 under your kettle, blankets 2, 3, 4 00:16:40.54\00:16:43.94 blankets some people preferred wool, 00:16:43.95\00:16:46.69 but if you don't have wool, just whatever 00:16:46.70\00:16:48.81 you can get a hold of, if you need more 00:16:48.82\00:16:50.95 warmth just add more blankets and then you 00:16:50.96\00:16:53.96 want some very nice cotton sheets, 00:16:53.97\00:16:56.97 here I have a picture of a full sheet set, 00:16:56.98\00:17:00.08 that is called the jersey net, that's 00:17:00.09\00:17:02.60 because it'll cling tighter to the patient 00:17:02.61\00:17:05.02 more easily and cut out any dead air spaces. 00:17:05.03\00:17:07.54 Then there is flower sacks to fill with 00:17:08.35\00:17:10.53 charcoal for the charcoal fomentations 00:17:10.54\00:17:12.55 we're gonna talk about. And then there is 00:17:12.56\00:17:14.92 an ice dish, that it is an ice dish, 00:17:14.93\00:17:16.72 it is not a doggy dish, but you want an ice 00:17:16.73\00:17:18.66 dish it won't fall over, so yeah those doggy 00:17:18.67\00:17:21.29 dishes were quite fine and they're pretty 00:17:21.30\00:17:22.85 cheap actually. Then a set of bowls would be 00:17:22.86\00:17:25.51 nice for cold water, for warm water, 00:17:25.52\00:17:27.93 for bringing out things. Well, Amber you 00:17:27.94\00:17:31.09 mentioned on your list of things 00:17:31.10\00:17:32.72 that we were gonna learn about, drinking 00:17:32.73\00:17:34.40 water Yes, very important. 00:17:34.41\00:17:36.63 Why is that important? 00:17:36.64\00:17:37.98 Well, some of the symptoms that we 00:17:38.23\00:17:39.30 talked about for the bird flu you can 00:17:39.31\00:17:42.25 address with drinking water, for instance 00:17:42.26\00:17:44.26 dehydration of course you want to 00:17:44.27\00:17:45.71 make sure you keep your level of water 00:17:45.72\00:17:47.26 up in your body, you also can possibly use 00:17:47.27\00:17:50.65 water for fever, fatigue that general run down 00:17:50.66\00:17:54.01 feeling we called malice. Oh! So, 00:17:54.02\00:17:56.29 water can be used for any 00:17:56.30\00:17:57.27 of those symptoms with the flu. 00:17:57.28\00:17:58.73 Wow! What does the water actually 00:17:58.74\00:18:00.47 do inside you. Well, it's almost like 00:18:00.48\00:18:02.47 an internal bath, it sheds waste from 00:18:02.48\00:18:04.76 your body, it cleanses your body as you 00:18:04.77\00:18:06.80 drink it, it also dilutes the fluids 00:18:06.81\00:18:08.93 of the body, so you purify your body 00:18:08.94\00:18:10.94 when you're drinking water, increases your 00:18:10.95\00:18:12.91 blood volume, it also increase blood cell 00:18:12.92\00:18:14.71 survival and oxygen carrying capacity 00:18:14.72\00:18:17.23 in your body. And also increases 00:18:17.24\00:18:18.72 your metabolism. Oh! I'm thinking it better, 00:18:18.73\00:18:20.47 we could have some more. You know, 00:18:20.48\00:18:21.84 it's very good, that's very promising. 00:18:21.85\00:18:24.21 Excellent, what they recommend is drinking 00:18:25.42\00:18:27.18 at least 10 to 16, 8 ounce glasses of water 00:18:27.19\00:18:30.11 a day. Patients tell me they get 6 00:18:30.12\00:18:31.93 glasses of coffee, does that count? 00:18:31.94\00:18:33.60 You actually have to drink more water 00:18:33.61\00:18:35.20 when you drink coffee, so it's not good for it, 00:18:35.21\00:18:37.65 it's diuretic, it is, it flushes everything. 00:18:37.66\00:18:39.95 So, you actually can get some water from 00:18:39.96\00:18:42.56 fruits and vegetables, hot water actually 00:18:42.57\00:18:44.88 can be really beneficial for a cough, 00:18:44.89\00:18:46.56 neutral water is best for quick absorption, 00:18:46.57\00:18:48.84 if you drink cold water actually your body 00:18:48.85\00:18:50.93 has to warm it first then it can 00:18:50.94\00:18:52.59 use it, so drinking neutral 00:18:52.60\00:18:53.96 temperature water is good. 00:18:53.97\00:18:55.78 Well you know, I'm just gonna go tell 00:18:56.48\00:18:58.28 everybody to drink a ton of water. 00:18:58.29\00:18:59.85 Yeah, well be careful there are some 00:18:59.86\00:19:02.79 precautions. Oh! Usually you can't over 00:19:02.80\00:19:05.24 drink, but if someone has kidney failure, 00:19:05.25\00:19:07.84 the kidneys aren't adequately filtering 00:19:07.85\00:19:09.84 fluids or congestive heart failure where they 00:19:09.85\00:19:12.12 tend to take on more fluid anyway, 00:19:12.13\00:19:13.96 you want to be careful 00:19:13.97\00:19:14.94 with their, their fluid intake. 00:19:14.95\00:19:16.39 Now, you also mentioned steam 00:19:16.40\00:19:18.93 inhalation, yes. For instance, 00:19:18.94\00:19:22.19 if you were to have a tea pot that made 00:19:22.20\00:19:24.90 steam and to be breathing that steam 00:19:24.91\00:19:27.13 and that type of thing that's very good for 00:19:27.14\00:19:28.98 inflammation and congestion of the 00:19:28.99\00:19:30.93 mucous membranes, remember we talked 00:19:30.94\00:19:32.27 about the selenium moving the mucous, 00:19:32.28\00:19:33.97 which cleans out your lungs when you breath 00:19:33.98\00:19:36.27 in warm steam that actually helps 00:19:36.28\00:19:39.29 the mucous membranes, it's good for 00:19:39.30\00:19:41.08 runny nose, post nasal drip, 00:19:41.09\00:19:42.89 it relieves irritation in the back of your 00:19:43.00\00:19:44.71 throat, that moist air, it's also good for 00:19:44.72\00:19:46.75 loosening secretions that have build up, 00:19:46.76\00:19:48.65 it's also good for relieving spasmodic 00:19:48.66\00:19:51.26 breathing. Oh! And coughing and also 00:19:51.27\00:19:54.72 prevent excessive dryness of those 00:19:54.73\00:19:56.84 mucous membranes. Wow! So, 00:19:56.85\00:19:58.25 steam is actually a very good mortality. 00:19:58.26\00:20:00.66 Sounds like it, well now where do I 00:20:00.94\00:20:03.98 I find the steam, how do I get it? 00:20:03.99\00:20:05.71 Get in a kettle or some type of vaporizer 00:20:05.72\00:20:10.03 you can boil water in, you can roll up a 00:20:10.04\00:20:13.01 news paper and use that to find the steam 00:20:13.02\00:20:15.91 to the nose. Alright. 00:20:15.92\00:20:17.34 And often times you can also use that to 00:20:17.35\00:20:19.40 apply some type of medication like a 00:20:19.41\00:20:21.72 Vaporub were often the oil in eucalyptus and 00:20:21.73\00:20:25.45 put that on the inside of the newspaper, 00:20:25.46\00:20:27.44 that's right, so that as the steam is 00:20:27.45\00:20:28.80 coming up you'll get some on the medication 00:20:28.81\00:20:30.73 as well breath in, when you're breath. 00:20:30.74\00:20:33.41 If you want to continuous inhalation, 00:20:33.42\00:20:35.22 sometimes you can use a bed side 00:20:35.23\00:20:36.67 stand with hot plate, so that it's right 00:20:36.68\00:20:39.12 there with the patient and 00:20:39.13\00:20:40.94 they can breathing in. 00:20:40.95\00:20:42.26 All set this patient up what, what, 00:20:42.27\00:20:45.11 how shall I do this treatment? 00:20:45.12\00:20:47.52 Well, if the patients is maybe somewhat 00:20:47.53\00:20:49.74 sitting up and better lying in bed 00:20:49.75\00:20:51.57 you can fill up the vaporizer or the kettle 00:20:51.58\00:20:54.62 with the boiling water and basically carry it 00:20:54.63\00:20:58.06 to the bed side place it next to the patient. 00:20:58.07\00:21:00.26 And then again use that newspaper to 00:21:00.27\00:21:02.30 make a spout and just direct the 00:21:02.31\00:21:04.18 steam right to the patients. 00:21:04.19\00:21:05.54 And as far as then usually 00:21:05.55\00:21:08.74 one half to one hour, three times a day 00:21:08.75\00:21:11.51 as well they recommend. 00:21:11.52\00:21:13.02 And is this something just you know, 00:21:13.03\00:21:15.09 anybody can do and everybody can do 00:21:15.10\00:21:16.93 and no problem. Yeah, you just again you want 00:21:16.94\00:21:18.69 to be careful to check the inhalation often 00:21:18.70\00:21:21.79 to make sure everything is going okay, 00:21:21.80\00:21:23.07 you want to avoid the risk of burning 00:21:23.08\00:21:24.40 'cause the steam if it's too hot, 00:21:24.41\00:21:25.92 you can burn the patient, 00:21:25.93\00:21:27.59 you wanna avoid drafts during the treatment 00:21:27.60\00:21:30.55 time and now extra care must be exercise 00:21:30.56\00:21:33.21 when giving treatments to children 00:21:33.22\00:21:34.39 to avoid accidents. That's pretty simple; 00:21:34.40\00:21:36.53 I think I could do that at home. 00:21:36.54\00:21:38.00 It's very easy to do at home. Well, 00:21:38.01\00:21:39.58 tell us a little bit about the next one you 00:21:39.59\00:21:41.47 talked about or list of earlier about 00:21:41.48\00:21:43.48 the hot foot and leg bath. 00:21:43.49\00:21:46.20 This is one of my favorites even 00:21:46.21\00:21:47.84 when you're not sick in the winter day, 00:21:47.85\00:21:49.45 it feels wonderful. Really, what, what I, 00:21:49.46\00:21:51.45 what it do for me? Well, 00:21:51.46\00:21:52.88 if you had a headache, yeah, or eye pain, 00:21:52.89\00:21:56.09 chest congestion, runny nose, chills, 00:21:56.10\00:21:59.08 these are all the types of symptoms 00:21:59.09\00:22:00.36 that you would use a foot bath for. 00:22:00.37\00:22:01.92 Oh! And what does the foot bath 00:22:01.93\00:22:04.25 actually do to my body? Well, 00:22:04.26\00:22:06.16 you mentioned about using the table 00:22:06.17\00:22:09.17 one putting hot water at one end 00:22:09.18\00:22:10.46 and cold and, yes, and then 00:22:10.47\00:22:11.63 blood moving it's very similar again. 00:22:11.64\00:22:13.18 When you have your foot or a lower leg 00:22:13.19\00:22:15.99 and warm water? Basically you're moving 00:22:16.00\00:22:18.38 the blood to the feet. Okay. 00:22:18.39\00:22:20.48 And what that does is relief congestion 00:22:20.49\00:22:22.54 and information in your eyes and in 00:22:22.55\00:22:24.05 your brain and in your chest, 00:22:24.06\00:22:25.58 it also increases, remember that warm 00:22:25.59\00:22:28.04 temperature here just like what the 00:22:28.05\00:22:29.06 shower increases your blood cell 00:22:29.07\00:22:31.24 activity and the blood cells are gonna 00:22:31.25\00:22:32.99 above the immune system, 00:22:33.00\00:22:33.99 which fights off the influenza and virus 00:22:34.00\00:22:36.67 and it also provides the general warming 00:22:36.68\00:22:39.39 to the body even to the point of 00:22:39.40\00:22:41.07 perspiration, which is one of your body's 00:22:41.08\00:22:42.65 waste of eliminating waste and toxins. 00:22:42.66\00:22:45.17 Great, wow! So, to after go down 00:22:45.18\00:22:49.07 to the spot to do this. 00:22:49.08\00:22:50.37 No, you can do this right your home as well. 00:22:50.38\00:22:52.52 The things that you need basically or 00:22:52.53\00:22:54.37 it's a water container that's large enough 00:22:54.38\00:22:56.25 to be able to fit the, as much as the 00:22:56.26\00:22:58.55 lower leg and it's possible. 00:22:58.56\00:22:59.95 Hopefully you've to 2/3 up to the knee, alright. 00:22:59.96\00:23:02.69 Again you mention thermometer earlier 00:23:02.70\00:23:05.23 of the equipment and this is a good time 00:23:05.24\00:23:06.58 to have that thermometer and 00:23:06.59\00:23:08.35 you want the water temperature 00:23:08.36\00:23:09.57 between a 103, and a 110 degrees. 00:23:09.58\00:23:12.00 Oh! For the, for the foot bath you also 00:23:12.01\00:23:15.55 wanna blanket to keep the rest of the 00:23:15.56\00:23:17.00 patient warm. Source of the hot water 00:23:17.01\00:23:20.66 is important like a picture of hot water or 00:23:20.67\00:23:23.31 the boiling water that you can pour into that, 00:23:23.32\00:23:24.92 you've measured the temperature, 00:23:24.93\00:23:26.12 so you don't burn your patient obviously, 00:23:26.13\00:23:27.62 oh! So, you need a source of water 00:23:27.63\00:23:29.25 and towel or cold pack, remember you 00:23:29.26\00:23:33.16 talked about taking the wash cloth and 00:23:33.17\00:23:34.87 dip in that cold water and placing 00:23:34.88\00:23:36.64 that on the forehead, 00:23:36.65\00:23:37.69 which again we talked about an area of cold 00:23:37.70\00:23:39.86 'cause we want to relieve the congestion 00:23:39.87\00:23:41.78 and the brain, yes, and the lungs 00:23:41.79\00:23:43.61 and draw the blood down to the feet. 00:23:43.62\00:23:46.48 And again you want to make sure you have 00:23:46.49\00:23:49.39 that plastic cover on the bed, 00:23:49.40\00:23:50.86 so you don't get the better 00:23:50.87\00:23:51.84 the patient want. Alright. 00:23:51.85\00:23:53.83 It sounds like pretty much all you need. 00:23:53.84\00:23:54.81 Wow! That simple. Yeah, when you talked 00:23:54.82\00:23:57.84 about getting these things from 00:23:57.85\00:23:59.48 your local store, yep, you don't have, 00:23:59.49\00:24:01.69 and get everything, you don't have to 00:24:01.70\00:24:03.05 to send off to Norway, no, 00:24:03.06\00:24:04.85 you get a special you know, region towel. 00:24:04.86\00:24:08.23 Well, alright tell us a little bit 00:24:08.24\00:24:11.75 about the treatment process. Alright, 00:24:11.76\00:24:13.18 first of all you can have the patient 00:24:13.19\00:24:14.93 either in lying or sitting that the feet 00:24:14.94\00:24:16.76 or legs placed in the water and a warm 00:24:16.77\00:24:19.07 towel around them. Okay. 00:24:19.08\00:24:21.35 And then you wanna start with the bath 00:24:21.36\00:24:22.47 around 103 degrees and maybe can 00:24:22.48\00:24:24.09 slowly add water, warm water until you 00:24:24.10\00:24:26.38 raise the temperature to the 110 degrees, 00:24:26.39\00:24:28.94 oh! And again raising the water up 00:24:28.95\00:24:30.59 to the legs as high as you can and 00:24:30.60\00:24:31.87 you want to do this treatment for 00:24:31.88\00:24:33.28 5 to 30 minutes and, 00:24:33.29\00:24:35.44 and do it 1 to 3 times a day. 00:24:35.45\00:24:36.97 And when you finish with your treatment, 00:24:36.98\00:24:39.24 so it's been a half an hour and 00:24:39.25\00:24:40.49 if been in this warm bath, 00:24:40.50\00:24:41.67 you wanna pour cold water over the feet 00:24:41.68\00:24:44.05 and legs and then dry it thoroughly with that 00:24:44.06\00:24:46.32 cold water does is actually closes your 00:24:46.33\00:24:48.95 pours insulator to keep the heat. 00:24:48.96\00:24:51.08 And you wanna dry thoroughly 00:24:51.09\00:24:53.36 following that to avoid chills. 00:24:53.37\00:24:54.87 Wow! Well, that simple enough. 00:24:54.88\00:24:56.39 It is, it's very simple. 00:24:56.40\00:24:57.79 And it feels wonderful. 00:24:57.80\00:24:58.87 Well, I've seen you had a method 00:24:58.88\00:25:00.65 to your madness here, but each time we're 00:25:00.66\00:25:03.95 talking we're getting little more involved 00:25:03.96\00:25:06.54 that seems like, yes, yes. 00:25:06.55\00:25:07.88 And I can't wait till we get to the last trip. 00:25:07.89\00:25:10.72 Let's just take the next one 00:25:12.44\00:25:14.55 when you mentioned a neutral bath. 00:25:14.56\00:25:16.30 Neutral refers to the temperature of 00:25:16.31\00:25:18.25 the water not too hot, 00:25:18.26\00:25:19.55 not too cold neutral temperature. 00:25:19.56\00:25:21.82 Oh! Very good. Well, and what exactly 00:25:21.83\00:25:24.58 what I used to the neutral bath for? 00:25:24.59\00:25:26.39 Alright, very good question, 00:25:26.40\00:25:27.37 someone is having fevers and chills, 00:25:27.38\00:25:29.50 the symptoms of exhaustion, insomnia 00:25:29.51\00:25:32.42 they're not sleeping well inflamation, 00:25:32.43\00:25:34.57 inflammation you talked about in the lungs. 00:25:34.58\00:25:36.18 and the brain and different parts of 00:25:36.19\00:25:38.15 the body and abdominal pains 00:25:38.16\00:25:40.03 from the inflammation and the intestines 00:25:40.04\00:25:42.31 all those symptoms would respond 00:25:42.32\00:25:44.00 very well to the neutral bath. 00:25:44.01\00:25:45.58 If there sprung on, 00:25:45.59\00:25:46.66 what exactly is the neutral 00:25:46.67\00:25:48.24 bath doing to me? Okay, well what they 00:25:48.25\00:25:50.65 see the physiological reactions are 00:25:50.66\00:25:52.34 decrease in pulse rate, oh! 00:25:52.35\00:25:54.39 Your body can actually absorb water through 00:25:54.40\00:25:56.84 your pores when you're in the water, 00:25:56.85\00:25:58.09 so it's good for hydration, alright, 00:25:58.10\00:25:59.97 decreases nerve irritability afterward 00:25:59.98\00:26:02.30 we likes to come home at the end 00:26:02.31\00:26:03.28 of the day and take a nice warm bath, right? 00:26:03.29\00:26:05.11 Neutral bath decreasing irritability. 00:26:05.12\00:26:07.18 It actually increases the activity or 00:26:07.19\00:26:09.73 excites the activity in the skin 00:26:09.74\00:26:11.00 and the kidneys, oh! Yep, 00:26:11.01\00:26:13.12 and it balances the circulation of the 00:26:13.13\00:26:14.92 blood through the body. 00:26:14.93\00:26:15.90 Remember we talked about perfect 00:26:15.91\00:26:17.80 circulation as perfect health, yeah, 00:26:17.81\00:26:19.65 and if you have areas of inflammation then blood 00:26:19.66\00:26:21.88 will be pouring in those areas 00:26:21.89\00:26:23.35 and that can be unhealthy. 00:26:23.36\00:26:24.95 Oh! Interesting, do I need any 00:26:24.96\00:26:27.02 special equipment? Well, basically 00:26:27.03\00:26:29.18 you just need your bath tub, 00:26:29.19\00:26:30.40 oh! Some warm water and a thermometer, 00:26:30.41\00:26:32.43 so that's very simple. 00:26:32.44\00:26:33.81 Well, most people have that. 00:26:33.82\00:26:36.02 I think so. Tell me about the treatment. 00:26:36.03\00:26:38.32 Well, you want to place the patient 00:26:38.33\00:26:39.62 in the water, in the tub at about 00:26:39.63\00:26:41.42 92 to 97 degrees just below your normal 00:26:41.43\00:26:44.55 body temperature, that's why you called 00:26:44.56\00:26:45.69 a neutral bath. And you wanna maintain 00:26:45.70\00:26:48.32 the temperature 94-95 degrees and 00:26:48.33\00:26:51.60 you wanna do it, anywhere from 00:26:51.61\00:26:52.67 15 to 2 hours. Oh! Yep. Well, 00:26:52.68\00:26:55.83 15 minutes to 2 hours. Well, 00:26:55.84\00:26:59.26 just sit back and relax. That's right. 00:26:59.27\00:27:01.72 Can everybody do this? Is there any precautions 00:27:01.73\00:27:05.21 There are some precautions for using 00:27:05.22\00:27:06.83 the neutral bath and you want to avoid 00:27:06.84\00:27:08.97 chilling, so you want to keep the air 00:27:08.98\00:27:10.44 around the patient an about 75 degrees, 00:27:10.45\00:27:12.48 keep the room temperature comfortable, 00:27:12.49\00:27:14.12 so that they don't become chilled. 00:27:14.13\00:27:16.03 Also for patient to have congestive heart 00:27:16.04\00:27:18.33 failure, this is not a good idea for them. 00:27:18.34\00:27:20.36 So, you want to be careful on 00:27:20.37\00:27:22.33 those patients. And the last thing 00:27:22.34\00:27:24.07 is patient to have skin lesions, or skin, 00:27:24.08\00:27:25.78 who want to be careful not to soak 00:27:25.79\00:27:27.22 those for too long 'cause that can be 00:27:27.23\00:27:28.52 detrimental as well. Well, Amber we're 00:27:28.53\00:27:31.51 covering a lot of ground here, 00:27:31.52\00:27:33.21 I mean this a, this sounds like a regular 00:27:33.22\00:27:35.52 course and medial hydrotherapy. 00:27:35.53\00:27:37.43 It is, laymen's medical hydrotherapy. 00:27:37.44\00:27:41.05 Yeah marijuana, that's right, 00:27:41.06\00:27:42.51 maybe this is Tijuana. 00:27:42.52\00:27:44.01 The next one when you talked about 00:27:44.02\00:27:46.21 was leg heating pack fold by cold mitten 00:27:46.22\00:27:49.62 friction. Yes, you can need that plastic 00:27:49.63\00:27:52.04 sheet to protect the bed because the patient 00:27:52.05\00:27:53.83 will be using the hot blankets on the bed, 00:27:53.84\00:27:56.05 okay, you want cotton blanket or 00:27:56.06\00:27:58.74 a flannel sheet, okay, for absorbing the 00:27:58.75\00:28:01.13 water also an addition you want two warm 00:28:01.14\00:28:04.23 wool blankets preferably wool, 00:28:04.24\00:28:06.33 alright. It can act as an insulator. 00:28:06.34\00:28:08.34 And you wanna again sources of hot 00:28:08.35\00:28:10.92 and cold water, and a pillow. Wow! 00:28:10.93\00:28:13.97 Sounds really all you need. 00:28:13.98\00:28:14.95 How do I do this treatment? 00:28:14.96\00:28:16.80 Well, usually they recommend you start 00:28:16.81\00:28:18.28 with the one foot bath, 00:28:18.29\00:28:19.43 so you already getting them blood 00:28:19.44\00:28:20.68 circulating and you use this to get the 00:28:20.69\00:28:22.61 patient ready while you're preparing the 00:28:22.62\00:28:25.24 leg heat pack. Well, you wanna 00:28:25.25\00:28:27.52 do this place that plastic sheet over the 00:28:27.53\00:28:29.93 bed then you're gonna place those two 00:28:29.94\00:28:31.92 warm blankets down over the bed. 00:28:31.93\00:28:33.64 Oh! Before the patient has had a chance 00:28:33.65\00:28:36.21 to lay down. Okay, 00:28:36.22\00:28:37.56 you're going to take a cotton blanket 00:28:37.57\00:28:40.55 or a sheet go right up and you're gonna 00:28:40.56\00:28:42.30 immerse that in that warm water, okay, 00:28:42.31\00:28:44.78 and dry it out. Now, you've said 00:28:44.79\00:28:46.93 I need to dry out the cotton sheet or blanket, 00:28:46.94\00:28:52.07 you mean just ring it out, 00:28:52.08\00:28:53.20 yeah just ring it out, 00:28:53.21\00:28:54.18 you get really extra water. Yep, 00:28:54.19\00:28:55.16 you wanna keep that warm water there, 00:28:55.17\00:28:56.42 but not the excess water, 00:28:56.43\00:28:57.75 so the patients not all wet. Yes, 00:28:57.76\00:28:59.94 so you would use these for symptoms such as 00:28:59.95\00:29:02.67 the full body ache or the malice 00:29:02.68\00:29:04.58 that comes on with the flu. 00:29:04.59\00:29:05.83 Also the congestion and the lungs and the chest. 00:29:05.84\00:29:09.19 Remember you mentioned sinuses, 00:29:09.20\00:29:11.04 which is the blue color and it goes off 00:29:11.05\00:29:12.65 the body and that's because, oh! Yeah, 00:29:12.66\00:29:13.78 the blood isn't getting enough oxygen, 00:29:13.79\00:29:15.74 so it's maintaining a blue color 00:29:15.75\00:29:16.89 cool purplish. Also headaches, 00:29:16.90\00:29:19.91 sore throat and chills, these are all symptoms 00:29:19.92\00:29:22.21 that will benefit from the leg heat pack. 00:29:22.22\00:29:24.95 Oh! So, and the leg heat pack is actually 00:29:24.96\00:29:27.94 just a progression of the cold or 00:29:27.95\00:29:30.93 the one foot bath, another words you 00:29:30.94\00:29:33.72 discovering more area of the body as you 00:29:33.73\00:29:35.81 addressing more blood vessels, 00:29:35.82\00:29:37.64 so you can affect more circulation. 00:29:37.65\00:29:39.11 Wow! So, very good. So, 00:29:39.12\00:29:42.09 it's like a foot bath had goes higher 00:29:42.10\00:29:45.04 of the leg. That's right, exactly. 00:29:45.05\00:29:46.84 And basically again you're moving blood 00:29:46.85\00:29:49.66 to the legs, so you're relieving 00:29:49.67\00:29:51.53 the congestion and inflammation 00:29:51.54\00:29:53.03 in the brain and the chest and the legs 00:29:53.04\00:29:55.09 just like you were with hot foot bath. Okay. 00:29:55.10\00:29:57.11 Again you're increasing the white blood cell 00:29:57.12\00:29:59.21 activity to fight off you know, 00:29:59.22\00:30:00.85 to increase your immune system and 00:30:00.86\00:30:01.83 fight off that virus again the general 00:30:01.84\00:30:04.57 warming rise up perspiration to sweat 00:30:04.58\00:30:06.65 out some of those toxins and stimulating 00:30:06.66\00:30:08.37 circulation. Before the patient lays down 00:30:08.38\00:30:10.26 you lay that down, then you're going to 00:30:10.27\00:30:12.27 lie the patient down, have the patient lay 00:30:12.28\00:30:14.77 on the bed then you're gonna wrap that one 00:30:14.78\00:30:17.09 blanket around one half around one leg, 00:30:17.10\00:30:19.15 one half around the other leg, okay. 00:30:19.16\00:30:21.61 And then you're gonna take those two warm 00:30:21.62\00:30:23.14 wool blankets and just kind of keep cool 00:30:23.15\00:30:24.58 the patient and wrap them completely up 00:30:24.59\00:30:26.07 and that's gonna insulate their legs to 00:30:26.08\00:30:27.92 keep that nice warm heat around their legs. 00:30:27.93\00:30:30.27 And do I need to do anything with the rest 00:30:30.28\00:30:32.62 of the patient? As the patient's 00:30:32.63\00:30:33.78 lying down you wanna place a cool cloth 00:30:33.79\00:30:35.95 on their forehead again you're encouraging 00:30:35.96\00:30:38.55 the blood to move away from the brain 00:30:38.56\00:30:40.09 and upper area and down into the legs. 00:30:40.10\00:30:42.01 And you wanna do that for about 20 00:30:42.02\00:30:43.75 to 30 minutes just have them lying there. 00:30:43.76\00:30:45.53 You wanna follow that with the cold mitten 00:30:45.54\00:30:47.96 friction and we're explaining 00:30:47.97\00:30:49.16 that in just a moment. 00:30:49.17\00:30:50.32 Alright, so let me just see, 00:30:50.33\00:30:52.79 if I understand this. 00:30:52.80\00:30:54.20 We're going to take this patient in a 00:30:54.21\00:30:56.95 wrap their legs in a hot wet blanket or, 00:30:56.96\00:31:01.24 or sheet, yep, and then we're going 00:31:01.25\00:31:03.17 to cone them in, so they keep that 00:31:03.18\00:31:04.91 warmth in put something cold to that 00:31:04.92\00:31:07.23 head again, yep, and keep them there 00:31:07.24\00:31:09.49 for 20-30 minutes, that's exactly right. 00:31:09.50\00:31:11.97 And then afterwards we're gonna do 00:31:11.98\00:31:13.65 what you called the cold mitten friction. 00:31:13.66\00:31:16.02 that's right. Oh! Very good. 00:31:16.03\00:31:18.37 Why would I use a cold mitten friction? 00:31:18.38\00:31:20.76 It's a very good question. 00:31:20.77\00:31:21.74 It's very good for sluggish circulation. 00:31:21.75\00:31:24.74 We talked about with the blue coloring 00:31:24.75\00:31:26.30 of the patient with the cyanosis, 00:31:26.31\00:31:28.11 it's following the heat treatment because 00:31:28.12\00:31:30.74 it kind of increases as they stimulating effect. 00:31:30.75\00:31:32.77 The hot and cold contrast is really gets 00:31:32.78\00:31:34.97 the circulation following. 00:31:34.98\00:31:36.15 It's excellent for generalized weakness, 00:31:36.16\00:31:38.78 lack of endurance, the run down feeling 00:31:38.79\00:31:42.15 that you feel after the fever. Now, 00:31:42.16\00:31:44.00 also builds up resistance to cold and 00:31:44.01\00:31:45.98 the body's resistance to disease. 00:31:45.99\00:31:48.01 It also increases the skin circulation, 00:31:48.02\00:31:51.41 improves your heart tone and general 00:31:51.42\00:31:53.75 circulation throughout the rest of your body, 00:31:53.76\00:31:56.26 it also again increases the white cell activity 00:31:56.27\00:31:59.34 and antibody production to fight off 00:31:59.35\00:32:01.10 the influence of virus and 00:32:01.11\00:32:03.65 it also reduces fever. Well, very good, 00:32:03.66\00:32:06.64 sounds pretty effective. 00:32:06.65\00:32:08.74 It's excellent. 00:32:08.81\00:32:09.78 What do I need to do this at home? 00:32:09.79\00:32:11.95 Well, first of all you need a large container 00:32:11.96\00:32:13.56 that can hold to your ice and water, 00:32:13.57\00:32:15.56 you would like to get mittens, 00:32:15.57\00:32:17.63 usually of a nice knitted course material, 00:32:17.64\00:32:20.25 rough to the touch, you need a heavy 00:32:20.26\00:32:23.53 flannel sheet and one or two towels 00:32:23.54\00:32:26.07 and a wash cloth. Oh! I've got, 00:32:26.08\00:32:29.66 I've got that all around my. 00:32:29.67\00:32:30.64 Oh! I know very easy. 00:32:30.65\00:32:31.62 What you want to do is, 00:32:31.63\00:32:34.48 you have the patient lying on the bed 00:32:34.49\00:32:36.17 covered in the flannel sheet. 00:32:36.18\00:32:37.65 Oh! First of all you want to take your 00:32:37.66\00:32:39.09 wash cloth and dip that in cool water 00:32:39.10\00:32:40.90 and just kind of cool off the head, face, 00:32:40.91\00:32:42.42 and neck area wiped that down 00:32:42.43\00:32:43.87 with the cool cloth. Okay. 00:32:43.88\00:32:45.79 And you'll take the two mittens, 00:32:45.80\00:32:47.59 the course material that we talked about 00:32:47.60\00:32:49.38 and you've put that in the water just 00:32:49.39\00:32:51.03 completely immersion soaked in the ice water, 00:32:51.04\00:32:54.17 dry those off just ring them out, yeah, 00:32:54.18\00:32:57.66 and then what you're gonna do is slowly 00:32:57.67\00:32:59.34 uncover one part of the patient at a time, oh! 00:32:59.35\00:33:01.89 And usually you want to start with the 00:33:01.90\00:33:03.63 trunk or the main body area of the patient. 00:33:03.64\00:33:06.86 Okay, and so you'll just uncover 00:33:06.87\00:33:08.48 portion of that with the blanket, 00:33:08.49\00:33:10.16 keep the rest of the patient nice 00:33:10.17\00:33:11.20 and warming covered, yeah, 00:33:11.21\00:33:12.54 and you're gonna take those mittens with the 00:33:12.55\00:33:13.77 the cold water and just start doing a 00:33:13.78\00:33:15.23 nice friction massage over the area of 00:33:15.24\00:33:17.95 skin that's exposed. Okay. 00:33:17.96\00:33:20.29 And you wanna do that until you notice 00:33:20.30\00:33:21.32 the skin start too redden. Oh! 00:33:21.33\00:33:23.29 Sometimes it happens quickly and sometimes 00:33:23.30\00:33:25.17 it can take you up to 15 and 20 minutes 00:33:25.18\00:33:26.97 for rubbing the area or really get the 00:33:26.98\00:33:28.34 circulation stimulated back to that area. Wow! 00:33:28.35\00:33:31.21 Sounds like work, it is. Give me a little 00:33:31.22\00:33:34.09 bit of a, we're got there. 00:33:34.10\00:33:36.32 Then what you wanna do is dry that area 00:33:36.33\00:33:38.84 and recover it with the wool blanket 00:33:38.85\00:33:41.61 and keep it nice and warm and then 00:33:41.62\00:33:42.65 progress to the next area and once you've 00:33:42.66\00:33:44.00 done the trunk then you wanna work 00:33:44.01\00:33:46.16 down the arms, the legs and then 00:33:46.17\00:33:48.31 you don't need to do the feet. 00:33:48.32\00:33:49.74 And all through out this treatment you wanna 00:33:49.75\00:33:51.96 make sure you keep the patient nice 00:33:51.97\00:33:53.20 and warm and dry. I think I could do that. 00:33:53.21\00:33:56.45 Sometimes I would like to have somebody 00:33:56.46\00:33:59.12 do that to me too, that's right a 00:33:59.13\00:34:00.72 nice massage. Wow! So, 00:34:00.73\00:34:02.66 what the complications it might be fun to 00:34:02.67\00:34:04.51 have with the flu. 00:34:04.52\00:34:05.49 You talked about fomentation. 00:34:07.65\00:34:09.11 Tell us little bit about fomentations. 00:34:09.12\00:34:10.88 Fermentation, it's kind of a big word 00:34:10.89\00:34:12.23 to swallow it first, yeah. 00:34:12.24\00:34:13.79 Basically it's applying heat to the body 00:34:13.80\00:34:15.85 again using the principles of diluting 00:34:15.86\00:34:18.16 the blood vessels and to we've tension, 00:34:18.17\00:34:20.92 to relax the muscles, to relieve pain. 00:34:20.93\00:34:23.26 And one of the most simplest and 00:34:23.27\00:34:25.15 affectively as we doing that is by 00:34:25.16\00:34:26.64 using a fomentation. And a fomentation 00:34:26.65\00:34:28.40 is anything such as a blanket, 00:34:28.41\00:34:30.21 a towel, gel anything that's warm that 00:34:30.22\00:34:33.34 can apply heat to the body. Oh! So, 00:34:33.35\00:34:35.68 that's basically what a fomentation is. 00:34:35.69\00:34:37.64 It's applying moist heat to a local area. 00:34:37.65\00:34:39.99 Okay. Usually better result to obtain, 00:34:40.00\00:34:43.27 if the application covers to somewhat 00:34:43.28\00:34:44.61 larger area then the affected area, 00:34:44.62\00:34:46.53 say you wanna tell the area just above 00:34:46.54\00:34:48.90 or maybe the abdomen, 00:34:48.91\00:34:50.57 if you cover a little bit larger area 00:34:50.58\00:34:52.90 then just the abdomen usually 00:34:52.91\00:34:53.88 you get better results. Okay. 00:34:53.89\00:34:55.16 And for the best reaction you wanna 00:34:55.17\00:34:58.19 apply the heat and merely following to 00:34:58.20\00:35:00.17 application of cold till this helps maintain 00:35:00.18\00:35:02.78 to desired affect. Well, 00:35:02.79\00:35:04.02 what would I use a, a fomentation for? 00:35:04.03\00:35:06.74 Well, many of them some terms 00:35:06.75\00:35:07.83 you describe from the flue such as 00:35:07.84\00:35:09.48 relieving congestion again from the chest, 00:35:09.49\00:35:11.82 and coughs, colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, 00:35:11.83\00:35:15.44 influenza all of these problems can usually 00:35:15.45\00:35:18.25 benefit from the fomentation. 00:35:18.26\00:35:20.20 Well, from the fomentation. 00:35:20.21\00:35:21.88 Also reducing inflammation in the 00:35:21.89\00:35:24.54 intestines and we talked about the blue 00:35:24.55\00:35:28.38 coloring the cyanosis the, 00:35:28.39\00:35:30.08 from the sluggish blood flow, 00:35:30.09\00:35:31.61 the congestion all these disturbances that 00:35:31.62\00:35:34.81 are cause by the lack of circulation can 00:35:34.82\00:35:37.34 prove with fomentations. 00:35:37.35\00:35:39.29 Well, great wow! What is the fomentation 00:35:39.30\00:35:42.60 actually doing to me? 00:35:42.61\00:35:43.95 It actually stimulates tissue activity 00:35:43.96\00:35:46.64 by quickening the circulation, 00:35:46.65\00:35:48.21 increasing a metabolism, 00:35:48.22\00:35:49.80 increases the body's temperature, 00:35:49.81\00:35:51.26 okay. Promotes increasing circulation 00:35:51.27\00:35:53.66 or white blood cells, it enhances stimulation 00:35:53.67\00:35:56.01 through sweating again the perspiration 00:35:56.02\00:35:57.72 eliminating the toxins and relieves 00:35:57.73\00:35:59.91 muscle spams, increases circulation or as the 00:35:59.92\00:36:02.78 muscles to relax pretty much relieves pain 00:36:02.79\00:36:05.38 from the internal organs as well, 00:36:05.39\00:36:06.70 so it's very helpful from many of 00:36:06.71\00:36:08.88 these symptoms with the flu. 00:36:08.89\00:36:10.22 Wow! Sounds like a cure. 00:36:10.23\00:36:11.91 And what equipment will I need? 00:36:11.92\00:36:13.83 Five fomentation pads or what is 00:36:13.84\00:36:15.64 recommend and that's because often the 00:36:15.65\00:36:18.20 pad or whatever you're using to apply 00:36:18.21\00:36:19.90 heat will cool down then you wanna be able 00:36:19.91\00:36:21.56 to replace it with the next one, 00:36:21.57\00:36:22.93 so usually recommend having five on hand, 00:36:22.94\00:36:24.75 okay, that can be any product that 00:36:24.76\00:36:26.19 we talked about gel packs, clothes, 00:36:26.20\00:36:29.05 blankets, anything that one folded up into a 00:36:29.06\00:36:30.87 thickness can be used to apply heat 00:36:30.88\00:36:32.49 to a certain area. Okay. 00:36:32.50\00:36:34.54 You also need a heating device, 00:36:34.55\00:36:36.16 which is a kettle or steamer, 00:36:36.17\00:36:38.30 and microwave etc. 00:36:38.31\00:36:39.81 One large warm blanket will preferred. 00:36:39.82\00:36:43.12 Oh! Again using as an insulator, 00:36:43.13\00:36:45.84 one sheet and one pillow, okay, 00:36:45.85\00:36:48.10 you also want to have two large buckets; 00:36:48.11\00:36:51.04 one is for foot bath to be formed 00:36:51.05\00:36:53.34 why you're doing the fomentations. Okay, 00:36:53.35\00:36:56.07 water thermometer and oral thermometer 00:36:56.08\00:36:57.62 to maintain your temperature 00:36:57.63\00:36:58.80 that you're looking for, ten towels. 00:36:58.81\00:37:00.89 Wow! Yes and a cloth for wrapping 00:37:00.90\00:37:04.52 and cooling off the head. 00:37:04.53\00:37:05.73 Basins of water, ice, plastic bed sheet, 00:37:05.74\00:37:09.22 again you always want to protect the 00:37:09.23\00:37:10.47 area of the patient is lying in and Vaseline. 00:37:10.48\00:37:12.90 Take us through how when I used treatments 00:37:12.91\00:37:14.72 for progress? First of all, 00:37:14.73\00:37:16.45 again you always like to start with the 00:37:16.46\00:37:18.19 hot foot bath, so the patient 00:37:18.20\00:37:19.43 is getting their circulation going 00:37:19.44\00:37:21.16 while you're preparing and setting up 00:37:21.17\00:37:22.44 for the fomentation. You wanna keep 00:37:22.45\00:37:24.54 the room temperature again about 75-80, 00:37:24.55\00:37:26.62 keeping the patient from becoming 00:37:26.63\00:37:28.58 chilled keeping them comfortable, okay, 00:37:28.59\00:37:30.45 keeping it free from breeze, 00:37:30.46\00:37:31.71 you wanna place that plastic bed sheet 00:37:31.72\00:37:33.84 over the bed to protect from moisture, yeah, 00:37:33.85\00:37:36.39 and then whatever area going to treat, 00:37:36.40\00:37:38.08 you take that Vaseline and you rub it 00:37:38.09\00:37:39.55 into that area. Okay. 00:37:39.56\00:37:41.39 You put a cool cloth on the forehead and 00:37:41.40\00:37:43.90 then you're gonna place the fomentations 00:37:43.91\00:37:45.85 into the hot water into the desired 00:37:45.86\00:37:47.61 temperature and then you remove them 00:37:47.62\00:37:49.52 and ring them right up. Wow! 00:37:49.53\00:37:51.70 Then you get place a dry towel 00:37:51.71\00:37:53.73 over the area that you just apply the Vaseline 00:37:53.74\00:37:55.79 to the area that you want to treat, 00:37:55.80\00:37:57.30 implies that's gonna protect that area 00:37:57.31\00:37:59.21 from being burned or, oh! 00:37:59.22\00:38:01.02 From the hot fomentation to always 00:38:01.03\00:38:03.08 protect the patient then again 00:38:03.09\00:38:05.11 put that fomentation whatever you're using 00:38:05.12\00:38:07.31 the gel or the towels over that patient 00:38:07.32\00:38:09.79 you wanna leave it and place for 00:38:09.80\00:38:10.94 3-5 minutes, okay, and then when that 00:38:10.95\00:38:13.70 started to cool a little bit after 00:38:13.71\00:38:15.09 3-5 minutes remove it and you always 00:38:15.10\00:38:17.75 want to after that fomentation rub that 00:38:17.76\00:38:20.05 area down and make sure it's nice and dry 00:38:20.06\00:38:21.73 before you apply the next one. 00:38:21.74\00:38:23.15 Wiping them moist through off the skin 00:38:23.16\00:38:25.17 before applying the next fomentation 00:38:25.18\00:38:27.31 is important, all changes should be 00:38:27.32\00:38:29.46 made quickly you never wanna leave that 00:38:29.47\00:38:31.78 area that you're treating expose for 00:38:31.79\00:38:33.22 too long. Oh! And if the patient is 00:38:33.23\00:38:35.53 perspiring a lot, you wanna make 00:38:35.54\00:38:36.73 sure you tried that area before putting 00:38:36.74\00:38:38.62 on the next fomentations. 00:38:38.63\00:38:40.04 And you replace it with the another one 00:38:40.05\00:38:41.77 and you longer keep that about two times, 00:38:41.78\00:38:43.42 if once you've completed all three 00:38:43.43\00:38:44.80 fomentations you want to rub that area down 00:38:44.81\00:38:47.47 with the cloth soaked in ice water and dry it 00:38:47.48\00:38:49.90 thoroughly always end with the cold. Oh! 00:38:49.91\00:38:51.77 I look forward to have, I know, 00:38:51.78\00:38:53.48 but it's important. Have has any patient 00:38:53.49\00:38:58.12 ever gotten burned with these? Yes, 00:38:58.13\00:39:00.12 you have to be very carefull 00:39:00.13\00:39:01.54 I've seen a lot of skin redness, oh! 00:39:01.55\00:39:03.64 If you're not careful to make sure that 00:39:03.65\00:39:05.35 there is enough insulation between the 00:39:05.36\00:39:07.25 fomentation and in the skin, 00:39:07.26\00:39:08.53 so even between applications of 00:39:08.54\00:39:11.08 on to the next you always wanna check 00:39:11.09\00:39:12.25 the skin and make sure it looks and not 00:39:12.26\00:39:14.05 too overly red. No red lobster, 00:39:14.06\00:39:16.17 no red lobster even and main. 00:39:16.18\00:39:18.35 Well, very good are there any other 00:39:18.36\00:39:21.33 precautions I need to keep in mind? Yep, 00:39:21.34\00:39:23.59 just like who said again making chill 00:39:23.60\00:39:25.13 patient isn't chills keeping up room 00:39:25.14\00:39:26.58 temperature about 75 degrees, 00:39:26.59\00:39:28.96 always wanna make sure the 00:39:28.97\00:39:30.17 patients feet are kept warm. Okay. 00:39:30.18\00:39:32.66 And you always wanna keep the head cool. 00:39:32.67\00:39:34.95 This sounds like a fairly involved 00:39:34.96\00:39:37.97 treatment, but I think it something that 00:39:37.98\00:39:40.18 most people can handle, definitely. 00:39:40.19\00:39:42.42 Actually there is a way to progress that 00:39:42.43\00:39:45.19 if the patient is getting more severe 00:39:45.20\00:39:46.61 in their symptoms. Yes, the fomentation is 00:39:46.62\00:39:49.25 very good about moving blood around the body, 00:39:49.26\00:39:51.75 but sometimes these patients are 00:39:51.76\00:39:54.21 resistance to having that blood moved. 00:39:54.22\00:39:56.55 And especially if they're going into the 00:39:56.56\00:39:59.39 pulmonary edema and hemorrhagic pneumonia, 00:39:59.40\00:40:03.86 and they're having the cytokines, the extra 00:40:03.87\00:40:06.51 inflammation in the lungs and you're having 00:40:06.52\00:40:08.89 trouble getting the blood to move away 00:40:08.90\00:40:10.90 from there, they're still congested, 00:40:10.91\00:40:12.38 still having trouble breathing, 00:40:12.39\00:40:13.74 then we would do a little different 00:40:13.75\00:40:15.82 process, where instead of putting the 00:40:15.83\00:40:18.06 fomentation or hot pack to the front 00:40:18.07\00:40:20.11 of chest we would put the hot pack 00:40:20.12\00:40:23.39 to the back of the chest and put a 00:40:23.40\00:40:26.23 cold pack on the front of chest. 00:40:26.24\00:40:28.06 What this is doing as you have the 00:40:28.50\00:40:30.19 patient lay down on the hot pack 00:40:30.20\00:40:32.60 and it helps the blood to move out of 00:40:32.98\00:40:36.11 the chest into the vessels that go 00:40:36.12\00:40:38.63 in between the ribs, the intercostals, 00:40:38.64\00:40:40.29 it pulls blood out of the chest that way, 00:40:40.30\00:40:42.84 the cold pack to the front of the chest 00:40:42.85\00:40:45.01 causes a reflex constriction of the 00:40:45.02\00:40:49.43 pulmonary vessels, and that way you 00:40:49.44\00:40:52.43 have a double blanket, you pulled blood 00:40:52.53\00:40:54.14 out and you're causing the, the nervous 00:40:54.15\00:40:56.63 system to shrink the vessels from the front, 00:40:56.64\00:40:58.85 so cold in the front, to shrink the vessels 00:40:58.86\00:41:01.55 to cause a vasal constriction, hot 00:41:01.56\00:41:03.88 pack in the back to cause vasal dilation 00:41:03.89\00:41:06.70 pull blood back into the intercostals, 00:41:06.71\00:41:08.50 that should help get the blood out 00:41:08.51\00:41:10.44 of the lungs, decrease the congestion, 00:41:10.45\00:41:12.52 get the blood moving because we 00:41:12.53\00:41:14.65 know that perfect health depends on, 00:41:14.66\00:41:17.14 perfect circulation, that's right. 00:41:17.15\00:41:19.87 And one think you wanna be careful with 00:41:19.88\00:41:21.11 this one is from the patient is lying on 00:41:21.12\00:41:23.17 the hot pack that can be a little bit 00:41:23.18\00:41:25.01 more aggressive, so you wanna make 00:41:25.02\00:41:28.02 sure there is enough padding there and 00:41:28.03\00:41:29.30 check the patient, so you don't burn 00:41:29.31\00:41:30.67 their skin. That's right, burnt patients 00:41:30.68\00:41:33.27 don't general come back happy. 00:41:33.28\00:41:35.22 No, well we've covered quite a few 00:41:35.23\00:41:38.80 interesting treatments, yes. It's been very 00:41:38.81\00:41:41.85 helpful the, again the hot bath, the hot 00:41:41.86\00:41:44.88 leg compress, the abdominal cold and 00:41:44.89\00:41:47.86 chest packs and fomentations, all 00:41:47.87\00:41:49.95 using the same principle of 00:41:49.96\00:41:50.93 maintaining circulation, which is gonna help 00:41:50.94\00:41:52.49 the body to maintain perfect health. 00:41:52.50\00:41:54.08 Let's go a little bit more in depth into 00:41:54.09\00:41:55.85 the use charcoal for some of these 00:41:55.86\00:41:57.28 influenza symptoms, if you don't mind, 00:41:57.29\00:41:58.90 I would like to ask you a couple questions 00:41:58.91\00:42:00.24 about that. Sure. Some of the symptoms 00:42:00.25\00:42:03.17 that we can't treat with the charcoal, 00:42:03.18\00:42:05.59 can you review those with us? Yes, 00:42:05.60\00:42:07.96 the charcoal is very handy; you can use 00:42:07.97\00:42:10.58 it for a lot of different problems. 00:42:10.59\00:42:12.82 And we talked about the different symptoms 00:42:13.19\00:42:15.83 the sore throat that was the reason 00:42:15.84\00:42:17.64 we were taken it by mouth is helped 00:42:17.65\00:42:19.80 by the charcoal, even the body aches, 00:42:19.81\00:42:22.63 you see those body aches are often the 00:42:22.64\00:42:24.52 influenza virus sending toxins throughout 00:42:24.53\00:42:26.70 the body, the charcoal helps to absorb 00:42:26.71\00:42:29.13 those toxins. And then there is the 00:42:29.14\00:42:31.55 inflammation, the inflammation of the 00:42:31.56\00:42:33.05 lungs, it causes what we called the 00:42:33.06\00:42:35.08 cytokine storm, hemorrhagic pneumonia, 00:42:35.09\00:42:37.47 the inflammation of the lungs that 00:42:37.48\00:42:38.71 kills people. Charcoal is very important 00:42:38.72\00:42:41.24 for reducing inflammation and 00:42:41.25\00:42:43.58 then there's inflammation around 00:42:43.59\00:42:45.44 the eyes, these people have the red eyes, 00:42:45.45\00:42:47.88 charcoal is very helpful we'll talk 00:42:47.89\00:42:49.41 about how to use it there? Any swelling, 00:42:49.42\00:42:52.37 diarrhea can be helped with charcoal. 00:42:52.38\00:42:54.89 And then there is nausea and vomiting 00:42:54.90\00:42:57.82 and this can be a big problem if you're 00:42:57.83\00:43:01.70 losing lots of food and charcoal a 00:43:01.71\00:43:03.35 big help in this area as well. Okay, wow! 00:43:03.36\00:43:07.46 It sounds like it addresses a lot 00:43:07.47\00:43:08.70 of the symptoms, just like the 00:43:08.71\00:43:09.91 hydrotherapy does. Sure does. 00:43:09.92\00:43:12.10 What type of equipment are we gonna 00:43:12.11\00:43:13.64 need for doing charcoal applications? 00:43:13.65\00:43:15.27 Well, first of all you'll need your 00:43:15.28\00:43:17.10 charcoal, you don't want charcoal breakouts 00:43:17.11\00:43:19.61 from your grill, what we're talking 00:43:19.62\00:43:22.90 about is basically a commercial product 00:43:22.91\00:43:25.85 that you can buy you know activated 00:43:25.86\00:43:27.80 charcoal you can buy it at 00:43:27.81\00:43:28.96 charcoal remedies.com, there 00:43:28.97\00:43:31.53 is other places just look it up on the 00:43:31.54\00:43:32.69 Internet you can buy it, lot of health 00:43:32.70\00:43:34.90 food stores will have it or can 00:43:34.91\00:43:36.21 order it for you. Charcoal's main effect 00:44:03.35\00:44:06.45 is a, is a super absorbent, it'll pull 00:44:06.46\00:44:10.33 all kinds of toxins, gases, chemicals, 00:44:10.34\00:44:13.59 viruses, bacteria, inflammatory fluids 00:44:13.60\00:44:16.22 out of the body, because it absorbs 00:44:16.23\00:44:19.63 all of the surfaces of all that charcoal. 00:44:19.64\00:44:22.30 So it's quite a super absorbent. Excellent, 00:44:22.74\00:44:27.14 will you mention some of the different 00:44:27.15\00:44:28.61 symptoms or indications that's used for? 00:44:28.62\00:44:31.86 And so, let's talk about a little bit 00:44:31.87\00:44:33.47 of how we use it to treat those symptoms, 00:44:33.48\00:44:35.38 for instance the sore throat, the body aches, 00:44:35.39\00:44:38.31 nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, let's take 00:44:38.32\00:44:41.70 those symptoms. What would you use 00:44:41.71\00:44:43.23 the charcoal for, how would you 00:44:43.24\00:44:44.59 address those symptoms? Yeah, Amber there, 00:44:44.60\00:44:46.98 we're basically talking about problems with 00:44:46.99\00:44:49.84 the elementary tract, the mouth, esophagus, 00:44:49.85\00:44:53.42 stomach, intestines, we're talking about the 00:44:53.43\00:44:56.09 whole system there and so basically you 00:44:56.10\00:44:59.59 can take the stuff by mouth and it 00:44:59.60\00:45:01.85 travels through you and you know, 00:45:01.86\00:45:03.36 when it comes out, 'cause it's black? 00:45:03.37\00:45:05.07 So, what I usually do is I take two 00:45:05.88\00:45:08.49 tablespoons of the charcoal, 00:45:08.50\00:45:10.28 put it in a cup of water, usually 00:45:10.29\00:45:14.16 I put it in a jar that has little extra room, 00:45:14.17\00:45:16.22 so I can add the charcoal and then 00:45:16.23\00:45:17.78 I shake it and it mixes the charcoal in 00:45:17.79\00:45:20.73 with the water and then I drink it down 00:45:20.74\00:45:23.20 and sometimes you have two giggle 00:45:23.21\00:45:26.33 a little bit to keep the charcoal in 00:45:26.34\00:45:28.07 suspension, but drink it right down 00:45:28.08\00:45:29.90 and it's very affective, I've used 00:45:29.91\00:45:33.04 this on people who had other problems 00:45:33.05\00:45:35.28 with their stomach, intestines and 00:45:35.29\00:45:37.66 it's very affective, it's affective for 00:45:37.67\00:45:39.38 Crohn's disease, it's affective for a lot 00:45:39.39\00:45:41.29 of different problems people have, 00:45:41.30\00:45:43.49 but for the flu it will help pull 00:45:43.50\00:45:46.31 inflammation out, you see it comes down 00:45:46.32\00:45:48.28 the esophagus, it goes right by the lungs 00:45:48.29\00:45:50.15 and heart, it goes into the stomach 00:45:50.16\00:45:52.18 that's right by the spleen and the pancreas, 00:45:52.19\00:45:55.12 the liver, it goes right through the 00:45:55.13\00:45:56.96 small intestine and large bell, and helps 00:45:56.97\00:46:00.47 to reduce the inflammation 00:46:00.48\00:46:01.71 these viruses are causing, helps pick up 00:46:01.72\00:46:04.74 viruses and carry them out as well. 00:46:04.75\00:46:06.67 Excellent, so it's very affective, excellent. 00:46:06.68\00:46:09.39 Oh! Wow! Yeah, I like you go first, 00:46:09.93\00:46:15.30 oh! Good I love this stuff, don't take 00:46:15.31\00:46:19.12 it all away, yeah, now come on. 00:46:19.13\00:46:21.85 It's really black and it get, oh! 00:46:22.85\00:46:24.95 This is good stuff. Oh! Yes, wow! 00:46:24.96\00:46:30.74 There you go Amber, thank you. Leave some 00:46:30.75\00:46:33.16 for the doc. Oh! Good stuff, you 00:46:33.17\00:46:39.28 can't keep the kids out of these stuff. 00:46:39.29\00:46:40.82 Keep your cover on tight. Still has 00:46:40.83\00:46:46.16 covers. Yeah, I put my lid on here, 00:46:46.17\00:46:50.17 'cause I got to shake this stuff up good. 00:46:50.18\00:46:51.83 Wow! Isn't that pretty? Man, mouth 00:46:51.84\00:46:57.49 watering good. Look out when you 00:46:57.50\00:47:02.46 take the lid off it might spit on you, 00:47:02.47\00:47:04.78 looks good, okay, wow! Chug along, 00:47:04.79\00:47:09.98 yeah cheers, cheers okay. 00:47:09.99\00:47:14.32 Boy, great stuff. Nothing like 00:47:18.37\00:47:26.77 coloring the kettle black. You finished up, 00:47:26.78\00:47:30.95 I'm real quick. I don't fool around, 00:47:30.96\00:47:35.41 when I wanna get rid of something 00:47:35.42\00:47:37.16 I do it fast. Alright, alright. 00:47:37.17\00:47:47.45 Everybody smile at the camera. 00:47:47.46\00:47:50.37 Well how about for inflammation 00:47:52.52\00:47:53.52 and swelling? Yeah. How would you use 00:47:53.53\00:47:55.77 the charcoal to adjust those? 00:47:55.78\00:47:57.48 The inflammation and swelling, depends on 00:47:57.49\00:48:00.44 how large an area you want to treat, 00:48:00.45\00:48:02.54 what we want to do is make the 00:48:02.55\00:48:04.11 charcoal, so it will basically stick to an 00:48:04.12\00:48:06.96 area, so it doesn't just run out, 00:48:06.97\00:48:09.30 it's hard to use charcoal that's in 00:48:09.31\00:48:11.15 this liquid we just drank, well you 00:48:11.16\00:48:12.53 couldn't put that on a body part. So, 00:48:12.54\00:48:14.44 you know, those of you who are 00:48:14.45\00:48:15.42 cooks you know, mix it with something 00:48:15.43\00:48:17.10 you like to thicken things in cooking, 00:48:17.11\00:48:18.97 we often use cornstarch or ground 00:48:18.98\00:48:21.78 up flak seed and the proportions will 00:48:21.79\00:48:24.73 be three tablespoons of flak seed or, 00:48:24.74\00:48:27.43 or cornstarch to three tablespoons 00:48:27.44\00:48:29.93 of charcoal. And then add enough water 00:48:29.94\00:48:33.72 about a cup to make a good amount 00:48:33.73\00:48:35.84 of charcoal poultice and heat it up, 00:48:35.85\00:48:38.24 So it thickens And you don't 00:48:38.25\00:48:39.75 necessarily want this stuff right 00:48:39.84\00:48:41.03 on your skin. You don't have to have 00:48:41.04\00:48:42.89 it on your skin, it will still work, 00:48:42.90\00:48:44.12 it doesn't have to be touching the 00:48:44.13\00:48:45.48 skin believe it or not. When I first 00:48:45.49\00:48:47.88 heard that I kind of wondered about that, 00:48:47.89\00:48:49.48 doesn't the stuff have to touch your skin, 00:48:49.49\00:48:50.69 well the skin is between, what ever 00:48:50.70\00:48:52.80 you're trying to treat, so why not put some 00:48:52.81\00:48:54.09 amount there, in between do. And so, 00:48:54.10\00:48:57.37 what I do is take a paper towel, 00:48:57.38\00:49:00.29 one that's of some good integrity that 00:49:00.30\00:49:01.78 won't just fall apart, take your charcoal 00:49:01.79\00:49:03.77 mixer you just made and spread it over 00:49:03.78\00:49:05.90 that paper towel or as big area as 00:49:05.91\00:49:08.01 you're trying to treat and put it 00:49:08.02\00:49:10.17 about a quarter of an inch thick and then 00:49:10.18\00:49:12.11 fold in the edges of the paper towel 00:49:12.12\00:49:14.11 over it or put another paper towel over it, 00:49:14.12\00:49:16.07 so that you basically have the charcoal, 00:49:16.08\00:49:18.80 so it won't get away from you and 00:49:18.81\00:49:20.28 get on everything. And then take 00:49:20.29\00:49:22.20 that poultice and place it over the area 00:49:22.21\00:49:25.43 you're trying to treat. And in this case 00:49:25.44\00:49:29.37 we might do this over the whole abdomen 00:49:29.38\00:49:31.56 or chest, if they're really getting a lot 00:49:31.57\00:49:34.12 of trouble with their lungs and chest 00:49:34.13\00:49:35.89 this will pull the inflammation out 00:49:35.90\00:49:37.61 of the plural linings even out of the lungs 00:49:37.62\00:49:40.02 very effective, and so for the influenza 00:49:40.03\00:49:42.28 where you might be having respiratory 00:49:42.29\00:49:44.46 distress then using this charcoal on 00:49:44.47\00:49:48.26 the chest or even the back could 00:49:48.27\00:49:50.42 be very affective, could be the 00:49:50.43\00:49:51.72 last ditch measure, when the patient's 00:49:51.73\00:49:55.08 doing well. Okay, and talk about treating 00:49:55.09\00:49:57.92 inflammation. Can you talk a little bit more 00:49:57.93\00:49:59.60 about treating inflammation the eyes 00:49:59.61\00:50:01.05 and chest and abdomen area? 00:50:01.06\00:50:02.47 You know, the eyes are very important 00:50:02.48\00:50:04.45 that actually an extension of the brain 00:50:04.46\00:50:06.30 out in front of your head, so there 00:50:06.31\00:50:09.80 are one of the few places you can access 00:50:09.81\00:50:11.55 the brain easily and these patients get 00:50:11.56\00:50:14.62 inflammation of the brain meningitis, 00:50:14.63\00:50:16.99 they get brain edema. Patients who were 00:50:17.00\00:50:19.48 all top seed from the bird flu in 1918 00:50:19.49\00:50:21.82 had their brain swollen, the rogue 00:50:21.83\00:50:23.98 or the grooves in the brain had almost 00:50:23.99\00:50:26.09 disappeared with so much swelling. 00:50:26.10\00:50:27.76 And so during a charcoal treatment over 00:50:27.77\00:50:31.57 the eyes both for the pain of the 00:50:31.58\00:50:34.49 headaches and for the eye pain and for 00:50:34.50\00:50:36.92 the brain, so that can be very affective. 00:50:36.93\00:50:38.55 And the way I would do this, we would 00:50:39.18\00:50:42.10 do this kind of like what we call 00:50:42.11\00:50:43.53 a charcoal fomentation. A charcoal 00:50:43.54\00:50:46.65 fomentation is basically where 00:50:46.66\00:50:48.69 instead of using a gel pack; we're using 00:50:48.70\00:50:50.63 a charcoal pack, okay. So, this is what 00:50:50.64\00:50:53.03 I use those flower sacks for I mentioned 00:50:53.04\00:50:55.63 earlier that people needed to have 00:50:55.64\00:50:57.08 in their armamentarium of stuff 00:50:57.09\00:50:58.85 to treat people with. Take these 00:50:58.86\00:51:01.31 flower sacks, fill them with enough 00:51:01.32\00:51:04.39 charcoal that they can cover the 00:51:04.40\00:51:06.03 area to be treated and then dip them 00:51:06.04\00:51:08.53 in hot or cold water, depending on 00:51:08.54\00:51:10.93 what effect you want, so for the eyes 00:51:10.94\00:51:13.05 and the brain you're trying to take 00:51:13.06\00:51:15.53 the extra blood away from the eyes 00:51:15.54\00:51:18.90 and brain anyway, I would do either 00:51:18.91\00:51:21.08 heating a leg pack or the hot 00:51:21.09\00:51:25.44 foot bath, probably the hot foot bath 00:51:25.45\00:51:27.29 is the easiest, have the patient 00:51:27.30\00:51:28.96 all set up with this and then take this 00:51:28.97\00:51:31.02 charcoal fomentation and dip it in 00:51:31.03\00:51:33.03 cold water and put it over the eyes 00:51:33.04\00:51:35.99 in front of face on the forehead and 00:51:36.00\00:51:38.97 have some way of holding it there 00:51:38.98\00:51:40.61 and that will be your cold, cold application, 00:51:40.62\00:51:43.64 but it also pulled the inflammation 00:51:43.65\00:51:45.69 and extra swelling out of the eyes, 00:51:45.70\00:51:47.85 out of the brain, out of the front part 00:51:47.86\00:51:49.97 of the head. In order to treat these 00:51:49.98\00:51:52.96 inflammatory problems very affective, for 00:51:52.97\00:51:55.37 the chest you could use the fomentation, 00:51:55.38\00:51:57.41 when you're doing, with hot you could 00:51:57.42\00:51:59.29 a charcoal fomentation a bigger flower 00:51:59.30\00:52:01.51 sack or bag or whatever with this charcoal 00:52:01.52\00:52:03.71 in and or you could do it over 00:52:03.72\00:52:05.23 the abdomen and, and pelvis for 00:52:05.24\00:52:07.22 the inflammation down there, which 00:52:07.23\00:52:09.16 patients often complain of. So, a very 00:52:09.17\00:52:11.95 affective way of treating them this 00:52:11.96\00:52:13.40 actually making a charcoal into a 00:52:13.41\00:52:15.00 fomentation and taking advantage of its 00:52:15.01\00:52:17.37 absorptive properties in the process. 00:52:17.38\00:52:19.89 Excellent, any precautions for using 00:52:19.90\00:52:23.19 charcoal in this manner? There is no 00:52:23.20\00:52:26.52 major precautions, but it is true that 00:52:26.53\00:52:29.24 charcoal put in any kind of wound 00:52:29.25\00:52:31.11 can accumulate there as remaining there 00:52:31.12\00:52:33.53 for a long time and you might end up 00:52:33.54\00:52:35.45 with you know with tattoo. And the tattoo 00:52:35.46\00:52:39.07 wouldn't be good because patients 00:52:39.08\00:52:40.93 remember you that way for a long time, 00:52:40.94\00:52:42.76 it might not be a pleasant to memory, 00:52:43.24\00:52:45.18 that's right, at least do they survive 00:52:45.19\00:52:47.13 maybe would be a worthy, maybe would 00:52:47.14\00:52:48.34 be a, a mark of distinction, 00:52:48.35\00:52:49.99 there you go. Well, some times it hard to 00:52:50.00\00:52:53.61 understand with all these symptoms of the 00:52:53.62\00:52:55.99 patient is going through you know, 00:52:56.00\00:52:57.56 they come in and are they just 00:52:57.57\00:52:59.84 with the fever, and the chills, and the 00:52:59.85\00:53:02.11 ache or have they progressed to coughing 00:53:02.12\00:53:06.19 and perhaps the inflammation, 00:53:06.20\00:53:09.05 the redness behind the eyes, 00:53:09.06\00:53:10.29 the headaches, the abdominal pain or 00:53:10.30\00:53:11.91 have they progressed actual 00:53:11.92\00:53:13.37 blood in the nose and the rectum, 00:53:13.38\00:53:15.75 is there any type of method to the 00:53:15.76\00:53:18.51 madness you know, what do I address 00:53:18.52\00:53:20.17 first, what do I you know, they come 00:53:20.18\00:53:22.28 in with all these symptoms, which way 00:53:22.29\00:53:23.65 do we go? I think the protocol 00:53:23.66\00:53:25.27 we use for trauma would work well 00:53:25.28\00:53:27.62 and a little adaption to the flu, okay. 00:53:27.63\00:53:30.96 And in, in the trauma we have what 00:53:30.97\00:53:33.32 we called the ABCs and then we also 00:53:33.33\00:53:35.89 good on of about little farther than that. 00:53:35.90\00:53:38.16 And the first thing I would say is make 00:53:38.55\00:53:40.96 sure they have a good airway, and in this 00:53:40.97\00:53:43.62 case when they're coughing up, vomiting, 00:53:43.63\00:53:45.79 when they're bleeding or so forth, 00:53:45.80\00:53:47.80 or just starting out the flu, just make 00:53:47.81\00:53:50.28 sure that they have a good access to air 00:53:50.29\00:53:53.13 through their nose and their mouth. 00:53:53.14\00:53:54.29 The next thing is there, are they 00:53:54.89\00:53:56.54 breathing well and this is little more 00:53:56.55\00:53:59.19 involved in with the trauma situation 00:53:59.20\00:54:01.36 'cause we're talking about the lungs here. 00:54:01.37\00:54:03.26 And all the things that can happen 00:54:03.54\00:54:05.38 to lungs, the flu especially knocks 00:54:05.39\00:54:07.45 out the lungs, we're talking about blood 00:54:07.46\00:54:09.81 in lungs, we're talking about 00:54:09.82\00:54:10.98 inflammation that they called 00:54:10.99\00:54:12.37 cytokine storm, in this case you 00:54:12.38\00:54:15.45 can start applying your hydrotherapy 00:54:15.46\00:54:17.40 measures that will affect the lungs, 00:54:17.41\00:54:20.05 fomentations, contrast fomentations, 00:54:20.06\00:54:23.58 charcoal fomentations over the chest, 00:54:23.59\00:54:25.67 steam inhalation, getting the airways 00:54:25.77\00:54:28.66 cleaned out and the mucous moving. 00:54:28.67\00:54:31.50 We're talking about during the things 00:54:31.51\00:54:33.89 that we learned here today 00:54:33.90\00:54:35.01 that will help the lungs, walking out 00:54:35.02\00:54:37.79 in the fresh air is also about keeping 00:54:37.80\00:54:40.21 the lungs, okay, going well. And so, 00:54:40.22\00:54:42.48 getting the breathing going, maximizing 00:54:42.49\00:54:44.78 the breathing, making the lungs as healthy 00:54:44.79\00:54:46.59 as possible, that was even the nutrients 00:54:46.60\00:54:48.32 we talked about in the prevention session 00:54:48.33\00:54:50.70 on what to eat and order to keep 00:54:50.71\00:54:52.96 the lungs from becoming susceptible to 00:54:52.97\00:54:54.90 cytokine storm, keeping the lungs 00:54:54.91\00:54:57.20 from going into major melt down yes, 00:54:57.21\00:55:02.20 the inflammation. The third thing to see 00:55:02.21\00:55:04.99 is circulation, well start out with making 00:55:05.00\00:55:07.44 through the heart is working well, 00:55:07.45\00:55:08.82 make sure that their breathing well 00:55:08.83\00:55:10.73 when we talked about that and 00:55:10.74\00:55:12.20 then the circulation we're talking 00:55:12.21\00:55:14.76 about the peripheral circulation is 00:55:14.77\00:55:16.76 they having this blueness, we talked 00:55:16.77\00:55:19.03 about the mitten friction, foot baths 00:55:19.04\00:55:21.57 and the leg packs are very helpful 00:55:21.58\00:55:23.71 for getting a circulation, 00:55:23.72\00:55:24.78 decompressing the extra blood 00:55:24.79\00:55:26.33 that's collecting in the lungs, 00:55:26.34\00:55:27.91 heart and head and pulling it away, 00:55:27.92\00:55:30.74 balancing the circulation in this 00:55:30.75\00:55:32.98 way, the, the tappet-bath or the 00:55:32.99\00:55:35.69 warm bath. And so, everything we can 00:55:35.70\00:55:38.51 do to get the circulation going 00:55:38.71\00:55:40.16 is important. There is also the fact 00:55:40.20\00:55:42.37 that we talked about water, drinking 00:55:42.38\00:55:44.52 water if you're vessels aren't full 00:55:44.53\00:55:46.34 of water, your body has a hard time 00:55:46.35\00:55:48.35 juggling varying the little bit of water 00:55:48.36\00:55:49.86 you have goes. Then we have the D, 00:55:49.87\00:55:52.34 which we call the doctors, we're called 00:55:52.35\00:55:55.78 that the eight natural doctors. 00:55:55.79\00:55:57.67 Remember in the second session we 00:55:57.68\00:55:59.66 outline those quite specifically and 00:55:59.67\00:56:02.96 so I would go to those eight natural 00:56:02.97\00:56:04.32 doctors, once you've taken care 00:56:04.33\00:56:05.72 of the airway breathing circulation, 00:56:05.73\00:56:07.52 then concentrate on the eight natural 00:56:07.53\00:56:10.07 remedies that are both for prevention 00:56:10.08\00:56:13.42 and for cure. And I think if you're 00:56:13.43\00:56:15.43 follow this outline you'll have 00:56:15.44\00:56:17.32 a good you know, sequence that you 00:56:17.33\00:56:20.49 can follow up for treating any patient 00:56:20.50\00:56:22.46 that's coming down with the more 00:56:22.47\00:56:24.13 severe symptoms of bird flu 00:56:24.14\00:56:26.35 Okay, can you give us a little bit of the 00:56:26.36\00:56:28.16 summary of that what we've talked about 00:56:28.17\00:56:29.36 today Dr. Clark? As with the 1918 00:56:29.37\00:56:32.80 Bird Flu, medical science has his limits. 00:56:32.81\00:56:35.22 There is only so many of us doctors 00:56:35.23\00:56:36.91 around, there is only so many facilities 00:56:36.92\00:56:39.15 or few are beds now available than 00:56:39.16\00:56:40.94 it was in 1918 due to manage care 00:56:40.95\00:56:43.13 cutting the amount of time people 00:56:43.14\00:56:44.59 spend in the hospital and the reasons 00:56:44.60\00:56:46.16 they can be admitted. And so, you 00:56:46.17\00:56:48.07 want to make sure that you have a way 00:56:48.08\00:56:50.70 to treat yourself at home. The seasonal 00:56:50.71\00:56:53.20 flu is bad enough, bird flu progresses 00:56:53.21\00:56:56.65 to viral or even bacterial pneumonia, 00:56:56.66\00:56:59.33 cyanosis, and death. And so, it's 00:56:59.34\00:57:02.47 something you want to stop in its 00:57:02.48\00:57:03.98 tracks long before it approaches death. 00:57:03.99\00:57:06.42 Prevention is the best treatment, 00:57:07.11\00:57:09.43 but once you think you might be 00:57:09.44\00:57:11.55 coming down with the flu 00:57:11.56\00:57:12.81 then you wanna use the eight natural 00:57:12.82\00:57:15.11 doctors, you wanna do some of the early 00:57:15.12\00:57:17.70 hot and cold showers that we talked 00:57:17.71\00:57:19.29 about charcoal, if it progresses then we 00:57:19.30\00:57:22.64 want you to use hydrotherapy and 00:57:22.65\00:57:24.91 basically you're trying to get the 00:57:24.92\00:57:26.46 circulation going well throughout 00:57:26.47\00:57:28.53 the body or the hydrotherapy then is 00:57:28.54\00:57:30.27 our way of increasing immune system, 00:57:30.28\00:57:32.39 getting white count up, getting the 00:57:32.40\00:57:34.55 blood circulating evenly through 00:57:34.56\00:57:35.94 the body, getting away from congested 00:57:35.95\00:57:37.79 areas because perfect health 00:57:37.80\00:57:39.67 depends on? Perfect circulation. 00:57:39.68\00:57:42.92
