we would both feel the need to

And even now that most of
the time we're together, busy

Whatever reason we may call

favorite verses on prayer, when

there are no words, because
when we think about connecting,

it's like let's talk, right?

Words are so powerful, and
yet when there are no words, the

Bible says that deep calls unto
deep, and we're connecting on a

level that maybe isn't audible,
maybe there's no words to

describe it, but
it's a deep connection.

And so we pray.

One of the ways we lose that
connection most profoundly is

when we hurt each other.

Maybe it's unintentionally,
or maybe when we're indifferent

with one another, we lose that
connection, and that can happen

God, too, where we lose that

the people that we've hurt.

You think of a husband who's
maybe cheated on on his wife,

You think of an employee who
maybe did something, made the

business lose a ton of money,
and he doesn't want to meet the

boss in the hallway
type of thing, right?

How can I avoid?

And we've inherited
that from Adam and Eve.

They hid when they knew that
they had done wrong to God, and

yet this is the very time
that I found in 1 Kings 8 where

Solomon gives us reasons why
to pray or when to pray, and he

says, when we sin against
our neighbor, that's the word to
00:09:32.97\00:09:35.47
pray, when we are defeated
before an enemy because we've
00:09:35.47\00:09:38.04
sinned, when the heavens are
shut up and there is no rain,
00:09:38.04\00:09:41.74
then we pray, when there is
famine pestilence, and when the
00:09:41.84\00:09:45.41
enemy besieges us, when each
one knows the plague of his own
00:09:45.41\00:09:49.85
heart.
00:09:49.85\00:09:50.59
Isn't that amazing that that
is an invitation for us to pray

and to regain that connection?

When you are a stranger
from God and when we come to

ourselves, these are all
reasons that Solomon said for

us to pray, and I think that
we might think it's presumptuous

to come to God when we have
hurt him or feel estranged from

him, but again, this is
the very time, and so we pray.

Philippians 4 says, be anxious
for nothing, but in everything

with prayer and supplication,
you guys haven't memorized,

with thanksgiving, let your
requests be made known to God,

and what do we get in
replace of our anxious anxiety?

Do you know that we are
electromagnetic beings, like

literal transfer with us through

that come up in my life,
whether it's someone else that

I'm talking with, there's
a reason for anxiety, whether

it's a loved one who's maybe
drifting away or that we're

concerned for, or the things
that maybe we even heard about
00:11:11.50\00:11:15.27
in our sermon hour today, right?
00:11:15.27\00:11:17.14
We can feel anxiety about that,
and yet God is calling us to
00:11:17.14\00:11:21.01
make this incredible transfer
through prayer, and literally
00:11:21.01\00:11:25.91
change the magnetic frequency
that we're operating by, that
00:11:25.91\00:11:29.55
we can inhabit
that place of peace.
00:11:29.55\00:11:31.95
David says, Hear me when I
call, O God, you have relieved

me in my distress.
00:11:35.26\00:11:36.52
And I think that's a
powerful reason to pray.

Oh, if everyone would only know
by personal experience how much

of heaven's promised rest
can be secured to the soul even

prayer allows God to send

reinforcements of powerful
angels and grace to come to

each one of us literally and do
battle on our behalf and allow

us to be strengthened to become
victors in areas that maybe we

are pathetically weak or
that by ourselves, you know, we

would find ourselves just
plummeting, and yet prayer is

the avenue through
which God does deliver us.

And the last one I just wanted
to bring up, there's so many

reasons why to pray, so this is
not, you know, complete in any

sense of the word, but this is
the last one I wanted to share

with you that was so powerful
for me this week, and it's

found in 1 Timothy 2.1.

It says, I exhort first of
all that supplications, prayers,

intercessions, and giving
of thanks be made for all men

because our God desires all
men to be saved and come to a

knowledge of the truth, right?

So when we pray, I'm included,
I'm one of the all men, I

definitely pray for myself,
I definitely pray for the loved

ones that I have that are
close to me, but all men, God is

asking us to intercede on other
people's behalf, confessing not

only my own filthy rags
and asking for, you know, God's

robe of righteousness to
cover me, but I've been very

impressed with the prayers
in the Bible that are found, and

it's really cool, they're all
found in chapter 9, Nehemiah 9,

Ezra 9, Daniel 9, Ezekiel 9,
and in Romans 9, we're going to

find a theme, and that theme is
we have sinned, We have fallen

away from God,
it's because of our sin.

And especially in the light of
the sermon that we just heard,

what if we were to pray
over all of that as a we, not a

and what if we started praying
that kind of prayer, like, oh,

he's doing after the man of the

world, or whatever.

But it was that we have sinned,
and the result of that is, I

think, and have a profound
effect on our influence on

other people, but I also think
that the Bible shows us that in

answer to that kind of praying,
it will bring revival, and it

will bring
transformation to the life.
