Previously on Law of Love & Liberty: 00:00:39.87\00:00:43.41 It was a conviction 12 years ago; it's a conviction today. 00:00:43.61\00:00:47.14 I remember the Sabbath Day every Sabbath and I keep it holy. 00:00:47.34\00:00:50.71 All right! God made it holy. 00:00:50.91\00:00:52.31 He didn't ask me to make it... He asked me to keep it 00:00:52.51\00:00:54.45 and to maintain it... 00:00:54.85\00:00:56.18 so I keep what He made. Praise His name! 00:00:56.28\00:00:59.39 Lead me, Lord... I'll follow 00:00:59.59\00:01:02.82 anywhere You open up the door. 00:01:03.22\00:01:09.20 Let Your Word speak to me; 00:01:12.37\00:01:15.90 show me what I've never seen before. 00:01:16.10\00:01:22.11 God's plan can never be altered or cancelled 00:01:24.55\00:01:27.78 based on life's circumstances. 00:01:27.98\00:01:29.78 So one evening I was... As a Sunday-keeping person 00:01:31.42\00:01:34.39 I was sitting on the edge of my bed 00:01:34.59\00:01:35.92 and I was floating through the channels 00:01:35.96\00:01:37.29 and I saw John Lomacang preaching. 00:01:37.33\00:01:38.89 And I asked my wife if she had seen this person before, 00:01:39.29\00:01:42.10 what channel this was, and she said: 00:01:42.30\00:01:44.00 "Um... I think that's an Adventist channel. " 00:01:44.20\00:01:46.00 And I just kind of kept my mouth quiet 00:01:46.20\00:01:47.54 because I wasn't about to go to church on Saturday. 00:01:47.70\00:01:50.07 I started watching 3ABN, 00:01:50.74\00:01:52.67 found a program one... in April with Danny Shelton 00:01:53.07\00:01:57.15 and Pastor Stephen Bohr. 00:01:57.35\00:01:59.78 Was talking about the Sabbath. 00:01:59.98\00:02:01.48 And I just... I sat up in the chair. It was about 00:02:02.28\00:02:05.95 9:30 in the evening, it was 3ABN Live. 00:02:06.15\00:02:08.99 And I said: "I got it! " 00:02:09.39\00:02:11.26 "I've got the Sabbath. I totally understand it. 00:02:11.46\00:02:14.33 It makes perfect sense to me. " 00:02:14.53\00:02:15.86 And I've been arguing the Sab- bath for 10 years with my wife. 00:02:16.00\00:02:18.43 Hello and welcome to Spring Camp Meeting. 00:02:22.20\00:02:25.44 And it has been a tremendous blessing. Amen? 00:02:25.64\00:02:28.48 Amen. About twenty-one hours of live programming. 00:02:29.11\00:02:33.58 And we praise the Lord for the blessing in music. 00:02:33.98\00:02:37.45 Amen? Amen! 00:02:37.65\00:02:39.29 And then the wonderful messages from God's Word. 00:02:39.69\00:02:42.69 So far since we began we've had James Rafferty, 00:02:43.49\00:02:47.00 John Bradshaw, David Shin, 00:02:47.76\00:02:50.20 Shelley Quinn, Ty Gibson, 00:02:50.60\00:02:53.27 Wintley Phipps, Ryan Day, 00:02:53.67\00:02:56.30 Kenny Shelton, C.A. That was wonderful! 00:10:17.01\00:10:19.01 Above all. Goes through all. 00:10:20.05\00:10:23.49 And what mighty patience... endurance... He has. 00:10:23.89\00:10:29.69 Here... here 00:10:31.53\00:10:34.93 is the patience of the saints. 00:10:35.60\00:10:39.73 We're going to trace a little bit of that patience, 00:10:40.70\00:10:42.77 but before I do tell you a quick story. 00:10:42.97\00:10:45.11 It's a legend about Abraham. 00:10:45.51\00:10:47.18 I don't think it's true, but it kind of gets the point across. 00:10:47.38\00:10:50.05 It's a Jewish legend. 00:10:50.45\00:10:52.35 And they said that Abraham saw a stranger - 00:10:52.55\00:10:57.12 tired, worn traveler - and he ran out 00:10:57.32\00:10:59.89 in Abraham fashion said: "You've gotta come in. " 00:11:00.39\00:11:03.86 Washes his feet; goes to get him something to drink. 00:11:04.06\00:11:05.96 Brings him something to eat. 00:11:06.36\00:11:07.80 He's an old man and he's tired. 00:11:08.00\00:11:09.96 He starts to eat very gingerly - not gingerly but hungrily - 00:11:10.37\00:11:14.70 and Abraham noticed he didn't say the blessing. 00:11:14.90\00:11:18.64 He said: "You didn't say the blessing. " 00:11:20.38\00:11:21.71 "No, " he said... kept putting that food in his mouth. 00:11:22.41\00:11:24.45 "I don't believe. " "What do you mean? 00:11:24.85\00:11:27.28 You don't believe in the God of heaven? 00:11:27.48\00:11:28.98 You don't... " "No, " he said. 00:11:29.18\00:11:30.52 "I don't believe. The only thing I believe in 00:11:30.55\00:11:32.35 is fire. " 00:11:32.55\00:11:34.69 Made Abraham upset... he lost his patience. 00:11:35.09\00:11:37.76 He ran over and he grabbed him by the shoulders 00:11:39.59\00:11:41.53 and he took him out into the cold night and said: 00:11:41.73\00:11:43.93 "Get on your way. " 00:11:44.13\00:11:45.47 Sometime during the night the Lord showed up, 00:11:48.70\00:11:51.47 as He often does to Abraham. 00:11:51.67\00:11:53.27 And He says: "Abraham. " "Yes, Lord. " 00:11:55.64\00:11:58.31 He says: "I've endured this man for eighty years 00:12:00.98\00:12:06.89 and you couldn't endure him for one night? " 00:12:09.26\00:12:11.99 Here is the patience of the saints. 00:12:15.43\00:12:20.34 I'd like to have Jesus come yesterday, wouldn't you? Amen! 00:12:21.90\00:12:25.27 I'd like to have Him come tomorrow. 00:12:25.47\00:12:27.04 I look at this world... it's full of sin and sorrow 00:12:27.44\00:12:29.48 and heartache... difficulty. 00:12:29.68\00:12:31.58 Trouble on every hand and it's only getting worse 00:12:31.78\00:12:34.68 and we all know that. 00:12:34.88\00:12:36.22 And I believe when we understand this whole thing 00:12:38.15\00:12:40.46 Jesus is coming quickly. I want you to understand that 00:12:40.66\00:12:42.92 I believe in the soon coming of Jesus. 00:12:43.12\00:12:45.13 But in the meantime, the saints 00:12:45.33\00:12:49.83 must have patience. 00:12:50.33\00:12:54.50 "Here is the patience of the saints. " 00:12:54.90\00:12:59.11 If you have your Bibles, in Revelation 14 00:12:59.31\00:13:01.41 right in the middle of it we'll read that. 00:13:01.61\00:13:04.51 "Here is... " I like that word here. 00:13:04.71\00:13:06.65 Here! We'll talk about that because it's a word that says 00:13:06.85\00:13:10.79 "I was looking for this. " It's like when you found 00:13:11.19\00:13:13.59 something really special and you say: "Here... over here! 00:13:13.79\00:13:16.86 I've found it! " 00:13:17.06\00:13:18.39 "Here is the patience of the saints. " 00:13:20.03\00:13:23.63 Verse 12: "Here... " Says it twice. 00:13:23.83\00:13:27.24 "are they that keep the commandments of God and have 00:13:28.07\00:13:31.57 the faith of Jesus. " 00:13:31.87\00:13:34.18 Martin Luther said once that anyone 00:13:34.38\00:13:37.55 who knows the Ten Commandments 00:13:37.91\00:13:40.22 PERFECTLY knows the entire Scripture. 00:13:40.72\00:13:46.19 Think about that for a moment. 00:13:47.22\00:13:48.72 At the end of the day it all boils down to that. 00:13:49.12\00:13:51.93 The saints... they have an attitude of patience. 00:13:54.36\00:13:58.70 A patient endurance... patient persistence... 00:14:00.54\00:14:03.81 patient determination. 00:14:04.01\00:14:06.31 Patient in pain; patient in trial. 00:14:06.51\00:14:10.55 Patient in longsuffering. 00:14:10.75\00:14:14.48 Patient in faithfulness; patient in obedience. 00:14:15.32\00:14:18.85 Patient in unselfish love. 00:14:20.39\00:14:22.76 They are durable and unmovable 00:14:22.96\00:14:26.76 and they are unafraid to die. 00:14:26.96\00:14:31.13 That's why they're called holy. 00:14:34.57\00:14:37.77 That's why they're called saints. 00:14:38.64\00:14:41.98 I want to capture for just a few minutes here 00:14:44.15\00:14:47.32 the picture - the setting - in which John says 00:14:47.52\00:14:51.85 "Here is the patience of the saints. " 00:14:52.05\00:14:54.49 These things you know well, but I'm going to just kind of 00:14:54.69\00:14:56.76 capture them just a little bit. 00:14:57.16\00:14:58.86 The great controversy started in heaven. 00:14:59.06\00:15:01.76 And that great controversy between Christ and Satan 00:15:01.96\00:15:04.37 is about selfishness versus unselfish love. 00:15:04.57\00:15:07.87 And Satan made a mess in heaven. We don't know how long 00:15:08.60\00:15:12.34 that war went on. The book of Revelation chapter 12 00:15:12.54\00:15:15.14 says simply: "There was war in heaven. " 00:15:15.34\00:15:18.51 We know from some wonderful insights, 00:15:19.41\00:15:21.35 though, that God bore long with Lucifer. 00:15:21.55\00:15:24.19 Think about the angels and how many of them 00:15:24.39\00:15:27.29 patiently endured the slander. 00:15:27.49\00:15:32.16 How they patiently stayed at trying to win their fellow... 00:15:33.63\00:15:38.30 I think they're going to be... I can't guarantee this 00:15:38.50\00:15:41.07 but I think because as free moral agents 00:15:41.27\00:15:44.37 and people sometimes get on the fence and they go back and forth 00:15:44.57\00:15:46.98 and finally they make a decision... 00:15:47.18\00:15:48.51 I think we will meet angels in heaven 00:15:48.68\00:15:50.65 who said: "I almost went down that road with Lucifer. 00:15:50.85\00:15:54.02 BUT... there were patient angels who loved me and helped me, 00:15:56.15\00:16:01.82 called me, and I chose not to go down that road. " 00:16:02.76\00:16:06.39 So even in heaven I think there are faithful angels 00:16:07.96\00:16:10.93 who endured and remained faithful. 00:16:11.13\00:16:13.37 Satan then comes to this earth and he makes war. 00:16:14.07\00:16:16.54 He makes war on earth, but he has a problem: 00:16:16.94\00:16:20.18 he runs into saints with patience. 00:16:20.38\00:16:24.81 Trouble for Satan 'cause he wants a quick and dirty war. 00:16:27.75\00:16:31.05 He wants to hit fast and win quick 00:16:31.25\00:16:33.25 but he just can't shake these folk. 00:16:33.46\00:16:35.96 And you can find them. 00:16:38.09\00:16:40.43 You can find them from Adam to the flood. 00:16:40.63\00:16:43.23 Can you think of some of the patient? Enoch comes to mind. 00:16:43.43\00:16:47.20 When you get to Noah, Noah finds grace in the eyes of the Lord. 00:16:48.07\00:16:51.11 How would you like to have been on that boat with Noah? 00:16:51.31\00:16:53.58 Don't you think that took some patient endurance? 00:16:53.78\00:16:56.54 If you've ever done a little study about the flood, 00:16:56.95\00:16:58.51 this was something beyond our comprehension. 00:16:58.71\00:17:01.15 We're talking about a huge tidal wave that swept around 00:17:01.35\00:17:04.05 the world, that laid huge deposits all over the world. 00:17:04.25\00:17:07.62 And you're in that little... It's a big boat, but in that 00:17:07.82\00:17:10.86 storm it's a little boat. 00:17:11.06\00:17:12.59 It's a little boat. 00:17:14.30\00:17:15.66 You just think about trying to take care of everything 00:17:16.50\00:17:18.60 and being tossed back and forth! 00:17:18.80\00:17:20.67 Do you think they were glad when they finally got 00:17:20.87\00:17:23.20 in that little circle of mountains somewhere around 00:17:23.41\00:17:25.04 Mt. Ararat there and things kind of calmed down? 00:17:25.24\00:17:28.98 Patient endurance. 00:17:31.48\00:17:34.82 And then from Noah to Abraham we have the story 00:17:36.89\00:17:39.69 of Seth and others. And then from Abraham to the Exodus 00:17:39.89\00:17:45.49 you have Moses... patient Moses. 00:17:46.63\00:17:52.57 Only one flaw in all those years. 00:17:53.40\00:17:58.47 You know, Moses really didn't want to go on that journey. 00:17:59.27\00:18:02.38 He tried to get out of it. Do you remember? 00:18:03.01\00:18:05.01 He said: "Lord, send somebody else. " 00:18:05.51\00:18:07.38 Moses was a very brilliant man. He was real smart. 00:18:08.02\00:18:10.22 He could add and subtract and he knew this was going to be 00:18:10.42\00:18:12.52 some kind of a journey. But God said: "No, Moses. 00:18:12.72\00:18:14.39 I think I need you. " 00:18:14.79\00:18:16.12 "I think I need you. " 00:18:16.39\00:18:17.73 And then from the Exodus to the Messiah 00:18:17.79\00:18:20.03 think of all the prophets. 00:18:20.23\00:18:21.76 Faithful people like Isaiah 00:18:22.16\00:18:24.23 who lived a long, wonderful life 00:18:24.43\00:18:27.80 and ended up, we think, being sawed in two 00:18:28.00\00:18:31.24 by Manasseh... unfaithful king. 00:18:32.27\00:18:35.44 HERE is the patience of the saints. 00:18:35.64\00:18:40.52 And then the Lamb of God. 00:18:43.62\00:18:46.96 There's never been anyone as patient as Jesus. 00:18:47.16\00:18:49.56 I mean, they threw everything... They were on His trail 00:18:50.43\00:18:52.79 constantly... the Pharisees, the Sadducees 00:18:52.99\00:18:54.80 all going after Him. 00:18:55.00\00:18:56.56 He hardly had a moment's rest. 00:18:58.43\00:19:00.24 Constantly intense around Him plus He was trying to disciple 00:19:01.30\00:19:05.01 His disciples. Some of them were slow like us. 00:19:05.21\00:19:09.58 Some of them were treacherous... at least one. 00:19:12.35\00:19:14.72 Patient endurance. 00:19:17.35\00:19:19.85 Think about the time when they took Jesus to the crucifixion. 00:19:20.06\00:19:24.49 Every time I go through this it's just hard. 00:19:24.69\00:19:28.76 I don't know how He could stand it. 00:19:28.96\00:19:31.87 Nailing those nails in His hand He doesn't utter a word 00:19:34.24\00:19:38.24 of complaint. Just cold sweat breaks out on His brow. 00:19:38.54\00:19:44.45 Here is the patience of THE SAINT. 00:19:46.08\00:19:51.15 And that's why the saints ever since have had the ability 00:19:52.82\00:19:56.32 to be patient because they've got a great, patient 00:19:56.52\00:19:59.83 leader. So here you have the great Messiah 00:20:00.23\00:20:05.07 and then His followers. And do you think they're going to need 00:20:05.27\00:20:08.54 patience? Old pagan Rome started its terror campaign. 00:20:08.74\00:20:13.71 The old Coliseum there in Rome still stands today 00:20:13.91\00:20:17.75 because people don't want it to be torn down because so many 00:20:18.15\00:20:21.58 early Christians gave their lives there. 00:20:21.78\00:20:24.72 Do you think they wanted to see Jesus come too? 00:20:26.59\00:20:28.99 The patience of the saints. 00:20:30.79\00:20:34.46 Then Nero... he started a horrible persecution. 00:20:34.96\00:20:38.70 Then there were others that followed him. Diocletian. 00:20:39.93\00:20:42.97 Diocletian we think persecution was so terrible 00:20:43.17\00:20:45.74 that he found all the pastors, all the ministers. 00:20:45.94\00:20:49.38 He found those libraries. 00:20:49.58\00:20:51.01 We still wish we had those libraries! 00:20:51.21\00:20:53.42 Burned those probably the autographed, the originals. 00:20:54.58\00:20:58.29 Burned by Diocletian in his persecution. 00:20:59.52\00:21:04.86 Finally one of them said: "Well, we can't kill them 00:21:06.03\00:21:08.66 so I'll tell you what we'll do: we'll just maim them. " 00:21:09.86\00:21:12.33 They had a gathering of the bishops and pastors... 00:21:13.50\00:21:16.87 some of them without their arms. 00:21:17.27\00:21:19.07 Some of them without their ears. 00:21:19.64\00:21:21.41 Without their nose... without their legs. 00:21:21.81\00:21:24.91 Do something. 00:21:27.05\00:21:28.45 But they were always running into the devil thru his agents 00:21:28.85\00:21:32.69 and allies or always running into 00:21:32.89\00:21:35.66 the patience of the saints. Amen! 00:21:35.86\00:21:40.50 That didn't work so the great red dragon changes colors. 00:21:43.60\00:21:48.40 From red to spotted leopard. 00:21:48.80\00:21:51.64 And we go from pagan Rome, and pagan Rome takes over the 00:21:52.04\00:21:55.34 church from the inside. Paganism takes over the church. 00:21:55.54\00:21:58.75 We see the most terrible persecution for 1,260 years. 00:21:58.95\00:22:04.32 Like a wolf in sheep's clothing the Medieval church 00:22:04.52\00:22:07.09 persecutes the faithful under the leopard beast. 00:22:07.29\00:22:10.96 But it, too, loses. 00:22:11.76\00:22:13.60 Some estimates say 55 million people. 00:22:15.66\00:22:20.47 You want to know how bad it was? 00:22:21.77\00:22:23.10 Read the history of the Waldenses and the Albigenses. 00:22:23.30\00:22:26.54 Ask them how tough it was 00:22:27.44\00:22:30.25 to lose their families, 00:22:30.65\00:22:33.01 their homes, their property. 00:22:33.21\00:22:36.08 For the Waldensians, there was just a little handful left. 00:22:36.28\00:22:40.16 By the way, Pope Francis went back 00:22:42.72\00:22:44.79 some months ago. Apologized, he said, to the 00:22:44.99\00:22:50.20 Waldenses. I read the apology. 00:22:50.40\00:22:52.90 It didn't seem quite as sincere given what they went through. 00:22:53.10\00:22:56.07 I say that with kindness. 00:22:56.27\00:22:58.37 They said: "Would you forgive us? " 00:23:00.78\00:23:02.11 They said: "Well we can't say that 'cause we're not the ones 00:23:02.18\00:23:04.11 you persecuted. " 00:23:04.31\00:23:05.65 "We're not the ones you destroyed. " 00:23:08.28\00:23:10.19 But that, too, moves us because then comes the Protestant 00:23:14.79\00:23:17.56 Reformation, and the book of Revelation shows 00:23:17.76\00:23:20.46 the leopard beast is replaced by a new beast 00:23:20.66\00:23:25.00 and it's a lamb-like beast. 00:23:25.20\00:23:27.40 Isn't that wonderful? 00:23:27.80\00:23:29.27 It's a lamb-like beast. 00:23:29.47\00:23:31.17 And for once the world has, as a result of the Protestant 00:23:31.37\00:23:34.64 Reformation, and I say it kindly, I say it with joy 00:23:34.84\00:23:37.65 in my heart, but that Protestant Reformation 00:23:37.85\00:23:40.02 produced the United States of America 00:23:40.22\00:23:43.02 and its wonderful Constitution. 00:23:43.22\00:23:45.12 Its Bill of Rights that's been exported all over everywhere. 00:23:45.32\00:23:48.46 The ability to take the Bible and translate it into 00:23:49.52\00:23:52.19 hundreds and hundreds of languages. 00:23:52.39\00:23:54.00 Missionary societies that went all over the world. 00:23:54.20\00:23:56.93 And it used its blood and treasure 00:23:59.50\00:24:03.04 to destroy and put down unprecedented brutality 00:24:04.01\00:24:08.51 of the Nazis and the Communists. 00:24:08.71\00:24:10.78 But you know it wasn't just the papacy that persecuted people. 00:24:20.36\00:24:23.66 There's some early hints of what's coming because 00:24:24.89\00:24:27.46 that lamb-like beast is going to change. 00:24:27.66\00:24:29.90 Have you ever heard of John Welch who was the son-in-law 00:24:32.33\00:24:35.20 of John Knox? 00:24:35.40\00:24:38.07 He was a great man of prayer. 00:24:39.11\00:24:40.64 Sometimes they say he spent 7 or 8 hours praying. 00:24:41.61\00:24:45.55 He would keep a Scottish plaid with him 00:24:45.75\00:24:48.62 and he would lie down on the stone cold floor in the middle 00:24:48.82\00:24:51.69 of the night and he would cover himself 00:24:51.89\00:24:53.22 and his wife would find him. He married the daughter of 00:24:53.29\00:24:56.16 John Knox... the third daughter. 00:24:56.36\00:24:58.99 She'd find him there and she would get on to him. 00:24:59.39\00:25:01.60 Said: "Look, you're going to ruin your health. " 00:25:01.80\00:25:03.77 He said: "Woman, you don't understand. " 00:25:03.97\00:25:06.67 Talking about Ayr, Scotland. He says: "I have 00:25:06.87\00:25:10.57 3,000 souls and I don't know how it is with them. " 00:25:10.77\00:25:16.18 When he went to that town it was a mess. 00:25:16.58\00:25:19.25 It was like the Wild West. 00:25:19.45\00:25:21.35 People would have duels out in the street. 00:25:21.75\00:25:23.39 He had a little table and every time somebody would say: 00:25:23.59\00:25:24.99 "Oh, they're getting ready to fight again" he would run out 00:25:25.19\00:25:26.55 in the middle of that dirt street 00:25:26.76\00:25:28.72 and put his table down there. And he'd call one there 00:25:28.92\00:25:31.49 and he'd call the other one here 00:25:31.69\00:25:33.03 and then he'd have some food brought 00:25:33.19\00:25:34.63 and he would talk to them... and finally he brought peace 00:25:34.83\00:25:37.27 to that place and they loved him. 00:25:37.47\00:25:39.23 But the king of England, James VI, didn't love him 00:25:39.43\00:25:43.04 because he wanted everybody that preached to be under 00:25:43.84\00:25:46.94 the control of the church of England Protestant. 00:25:47.14\00:25:50.35 They arrested him; gave him a farce of a trial. 00:25:51.58\00:25:54.02 Put him 10 months in one of the worst dungeons. 00:25:54.52\00:25:57.55 People say it makes the dungeon that the apostle Paul was in 00:25:57.75\00:26:01.79 look like a comfort zone. 00:26:01.99\00:26:04.19 The floor is slanted. 00:26:05.63\00:26:07.13 Out of the stones there are sharp... 00:26:07.33\00:26:09.26 You can only get into it through a hole in the floor. 00:26:09.46\00:26:12.33 You can't sit down; you can't stand up. 00:26:12.73\00:26:15.40 You can't get any rest, and they put him in that miserable 00:26:15.60\00:26:18.14 place for 10 months. 00:26:18.34\00:26:19.84 Finally banished him. 00:26:20.88\00:26:23.04 And his wife went and begged them to let him come back 00:26:24.75\00:26:29.08 'cause his health was so bad. And finally the king 00:26:29.28\00:26:31.29 said: "Whose daughter are you? " 00:26:31.49\00:26:33.05 She says: "I'm the daughter of John Knox. " 00:26:33.25\00:26:35.09 He says: "Oh, no! 00:26:35.29\00:26:37.13 Knox and Welch... that's a pact made by the devil. " 00:26:37.33\00:26:41.80 She says: "Well we didn't ask him. " 00:26:42.00\00:26:43.87 He says: "Well, I'll let him come back on one condition 00:26:49.44\00:26:52.14 and that is that he comes under our control 00:26:52.34\00:26:54.54 and he doesn't preach. " She said: "Never happen. " 00:26:54.74\00:26:57.45 She said: "I'd rather have... " She lifted up her apron. 00:26:57.85\00:26:59.78 "I'd rather have his head here than to see him do that. " 00:26:59.98\00:27:05.19 Here is the patience of the saints. 00:27:06.15\00:27:11.49 Listen... the saints are going to need patience. 00:27:14.43\00:27:17.17 We're going to need for what's coming. 00:27:17.67\00:27:19.40 This lamb-like beast not only speaks like a dragon 00:27:19.60\00:27:22.47 but he makes a new creature: an image to the beast. 00:27:22.67\00:27:25.24 And he forces the world to accept 00:27:25.64\00:27:29.54 its mark contrary to the seal of God. 00:27:29.94\00:27:33.31 And my brothers and sisters, this is the final crisis 00:27:33.52\00:27:35.72 and it is creeping up on us faster than we understand. 00:27:35.92\00:27:40.69 I used to think that this... 00:27:41.09\00:27:42.76 and I preached it and I still stand by it... 00:27:42.96\00:27:44.66 that persecution's going to come from the religious right. 00:27:44.86\00:27:47.10 I believe that. But today I believe that 00:27:47.30\00:27:48.90 it's also going to come from the secular left. 00:27:49.10\00:27:52.37 It's going to be like the Pharisees and the Sadducees. 00:27:55.50\00:27:57.64 They HATED each other but they got together 00:27:57.84\00:28:00.08 when it came time to take care of Jesus. 00:28:00.28\00:28:02.11 And let me tell you: if you stand for Jesus 00:28:02.51\00:28:04.31 in the end of time they're going to hate Jesus 00:28:04.51\00:28:05.85 just as much as they hated Him in those days 00:28:05.91\00:28:07.48 except it's going to be in the person of His people 00:28:07.68\00:28:10.12 and we're going to need the patience of the saints. 00:28:11.02\00:28:15.56 We're going to be looked at as those that are against 00:28:17.23\00:28:19.26 the common good. Have you ever heard of that? 00:28:19.46\00:28:21.50 I don't want to get into climate change 00:28:23.50\00:28:25.53 and the politics of it. 00:28:26.37\00:28:27.70 As Seventh-day Adventists we know that great terrible 00:28:27.80\00:28:30.74 disasters are going to happen in nature. 00:28:30.94\00:28:32.47 We know that... we know that's coming. 00:28:32.67\00:28:34.11 Doesn't matter how it comes. 00:28:34.51\00:28:36.85 But they're going to look for somebody to blame. 00:28:37.05\00:28:39.81 Just like Nero blamed the Christians. 00:28:40.02\00:28:42.35 Said they were cannibals; that they had love feasts. 00:28:42.55\00:28:46.42 And you can imagine what they said about that. 00:28:46.82\00:28:48.62 The picture goes on and on. 00:28:50.39\00:28:52.26 Slander! 00:28:52.46\00:28:54.20 Three mighty angels, however, are commissioned to warn 00:28:59.70\00:29:02.40 the world. The first warns that the hour of God's judgment 00:29:02.60\00:29:05.37 is at hand. The second one says this new image, 00:29:05.57\00:29:08.74 this new false prophet, this Babylon 00:29:08.94\00:29:11.51 is not who she claims to be. 00:29:11.91\00:29:14.62 She's no longer lamb-like but she's dragon-like. 00:29:15.72\00:29:19.09 And the third one warns against the overwhelming 00:29:20.06\00:29:22.46 deception. And it will be a deception 00:29:22.66\00:29:24.79 of the mark of the beast. And then he ends his warning 00:29:24.99\00:29:28.43 with this contrast: "There are those 00:29:28.63\00:29:32.57 but here... here... 00:29:32.77\00:29:36.00 is the patience of the saints. " 00:29:37.47\00:29:41.14 Here is that same patience that you saw in Noah, 00:29:41.54\00:29:45.41 that you saw in Abraham, 00:29:45.61\00:29:46.95 that you saw in the prophets, 00:29:46.98\00:29:48.32 that you saw in Jesus, 00:29:48.48\00:29:50.02 that you saw in the early Christians, 00:29:50.22\00:29:51.85 that you saw in the martyrs of the Dark Ages. 00:29:52.05\00:29:55.59 Ignatius Loyola's statue still stands in the vicinity 00:29:56.12\00:30:01.60 of the Vatican. God said that that power 00:30:01.80\00:30:04.97 would have power over the saints for 1,260 years. 00:30:05.17\00:30:08.70 That statue is there. He's holding the constitution 00:30:08.90\00:30:13.17 of the Jesuits 00:30:13.38\00:30:15.14 while underneath his feet he is stamping out the life 00:30:15.91\00:30:19.61 of a Protestant holding the Bible. 00:30:19.81\00:30:22.58 Don't think that hatred has gone away. 00:30:25.82\00:30:29.79 Why? Why such rage 00:30:33.16\00:30:36.16 against those who keep the commandments of God? 00:30:36.36\00:30:38.50 Why? If you have your Bibles and you turn to Psalm 19 00:30:40.00\00:30:44.34 it says: "The heavens declare 00:30:44.54\00:30:46.94 the... " What? Glory! "the glory of God 00:30:47.14\00:30:50.01 and the firmament or the universe shows His handiwork. " 00:30:50.75\00:30:54.48 When I think of that... Have you ever seen ladies 00:30:54.68\00:30:56.69 who do this minutia embroi- dering? It's really something. 00:30:56.89\00:31:00.46 It's amazing stuff. 00:31:00.66\00:31:01.99 The handiwork of God is done all through the universe. 00:31:02.96\00:31:06.96 The Hubble telescope, of course, has opened up the heavens 00:31:07.16\00:31:08.93 for all of us. People are awestruck at the magnificence 00:31:09.13\00:31:12.30 of the universe. 00:31:12.50\00:31:14.27 But I want to say this: that God runs His universe 00:31:14.47\00:31:17.57 by law. In fact, He's made this universe 00:31:17.77\00:31:23.04 and He's instituted these laws 00:31:23.24\00:31:25.25 that make it possible for life to exist. 00:31:25.65\00:31:27.82 Let me tell you how critical this is. 00:31:28.22\00:31:29.88 They discovered 200 what they call constants. 00:31:30.09\00:31:32.65 These are things that do not vary. 00:31:32.85\00:31:34.46 It's like 2 + 2 always equals what? 00:31:34.66\00:31:36.49 Four. Yeah, that's right. 00:31:36.69\00:31:38.03 These are 200 variables. 00:31:38.06\00:31:39.86 It want to point out a couple, three of them tonight 00:31:40.06\00:31:41.86 just really quick. One of them is gravity. 00:31:42.06\00:31:45.10 Do you know how precise gravity is? 00:31:45.67\00:31:48.27 Take a ruler and stretch that ruler across the 14 billion 00:31:48.47\00:31:53.17 light years of the universe. 00:31:53.38\00:31:55.28 It's a number bigger than I can handle 00:31:57.21\00:31:58.71 but I can handle an inch 00:31:59.21\00:32:01.02 and make it... give you all the inch increments 00:32:01.22\00:32:04.15 all along there. 00:32:04.35\00:32:05.69 Go find a spot on that big big yardstick 00:32:05.72\00:32:08.59 that stretches across the universe 00:32:08.79\00:32:10.29 with who knows how many "zillions" of inches. 00:32:10.49\00:32:14.16 Find the place where gravity is at 00:32:14.36\00:32:17.17 and if you move it an inch 00:32:20.84\00:32:23.34 we cease to exist. 00:32:23.84\00:32:26.78 That's how precise the universe is. 00:32:28.31\00:32:30.85 Take expansion of the universe. 00:32:36.58\00:32:38.95 If you move it just in one part, the other one was one part 00:32:39.35\00:32:42.29 in 10 to the 60th power, 00:32:42.49\00:32:44.13 expansion of the universe, if you move it within one part 00:32:44.53\00:32:47.16 10 to the 120th power, these are numbers I can't comprehend. 00:32:47.36\00:32:50.30 Just one part from that the universe will flame out 00:32:50.70\00:32:54.37 or collapse. 00:32:54.57\00:32:56.71 The whole universe is finely tuned 00:32:57.47\00:33:00.78 so that life can exist. 00:33:01.81\00:33:03.35 God runs His universe by law. 00:33:03.85\00:33:06.38 I used to say to myself: 00:33:07.22\00:33:11.65 "This Psalm is kind of interest- ing because it starts off 00:33:12.52\00:33:15.26 with this wonderful picture of the universe 00:33:15.46\00:33:18.63 and then all of a sudden it changes the subject. " 00:33:18.83\00:33:20.96 Verse 7: "The law of the Lord is perfect. " 00:33:22.26\00:33:25.83 "The heavens declare the glory of God! " Wonderful! 00:33:26.03\00:33:27.67 "The sun is like a man coming out of the bridegroom chamber 00:33:27.87\00:33:30.77 and he's going to preach to the whole world in every language. " 00:33:30.97\00:33:33.38 By the way, the sun preaches. The stars preach. 00:33:33.58\00:33:35.64 In the end of the day nobody's going to have an excuse 00:33:36.04\00:33:38.48 for rejecting God because all of the handiwork is there. 00:33:38.68\00:33:41.25 It's all there. 00:33:42.08\00:33:43.42 And I said: "Why? Why does this Psalm change? " 00:33:46.65\00:33:49.76 And then finally it hit me: 00:33:49.96\00:33:51.76 just as God has finely tuned the universe 00:33:52.89\00:33:56.70 so that life can exist 00:33:56.90\00:33:58.73 so He's given us the Ten Commandments 00:33:58.93\00:34:01.00 so that life can exist. 00:34:01.20\00:34:02.80 I love the theme here on God's Ten Commandments: 00:34:05.27\00:34:09.14 the law of liberty and love. 00:34:09.34\00:34:11.48 And it really really is. 00:34:11.68\00:34:14.35 So the whole universe is preaching. 00:34:14.75\00:34:17.15 Let's look at verse 7 of chapter 19 00:34:17.35\00:34:22.56 of the book of Psalms. 00:34:22.76\00:34:24.39 And listen to how this starts out. 00:34:24.79\00:34:27.13 It says: "The law of the Lord is... " What? 00:34:27.33\00:34:30.30 Perfect. "perfect. " Perfect! 00:34:30.70\00:34:34.74 It's a good thing. By the way, you can't fix perfect. 00:34:35.77\00:34:38.67 Can't fix it... unfixable. 00:34:40.11\00:34:42.91 "The testimony of the Lord is sure 00:34:43.11\00:34:45.38 making wise the simple. 00:34:45.58\00:34:47.12 The statutes of the Lord are right 00:34:47.32\00:34:49.45 rejoicing the heart. The commandments of the Lord 00:34:49.65\00:34:51.79 are pure, enlightening the eye. " 00:34:51.99\00:34:53.99 Let's take a look at those words for a moment. 00:34:54.19\00:34:55.72 Perfect means blameless. 00:34:56.12\00:34:58.76 Cannot improve it. 00:34:59.83\00:35:01.53 Sure means it's faithful and dependable 00:35:01.73\00:35:05.93 and will not let you down. 00:35:06.33\00:35:08.34 Right. It means it's straight and level 00:35:10.04\00:35:14.14 and appropriate. 00:35:15.08\00:35:17.01 Pure means it's beloved, 00:35:18.21\00:35:21.55 clean and sincere. 00:35:22.78\00:35:25.49 True and righteous means that it's stable. 00:35:26.45\00:35:32.19 It's justifiable, defensible, 00:35:32.39\00:35:36.67 and that's another way of saying testable. 00:35:36.87\00:35:39.43 You can test it. 00:35:41.14\00:35:42.77 By the way, the Ten Command- ments can be tested. 00:35:43.77\00:35:47.24 Can you test the first four of the 10 Commandments? 00:35:48.08\00:35:51.38 You have all kinds of evidence around you. 00:35:51.58\00:35:53.48 Israel didn't actually see God but they saw the smoke 00:35:54.18\00:35:57.45 and the fire and they saw the Ten Commandments. 00:35:57.65\00:36:00.89 But I have people every once in a while that will say 00:36:01.09\00:36:03.89 or you read of them saying: "Oh, you know 00:36:04.09\00:36:06.03 who is this God? This invisible God? " 00:36:06.23\00:36:07.83 No, no, no, no... we have a visible God 00:36:08.03\00:36:10.50 and He's the Lord Jesus Christ because the apostle said 00:36:11.27\00:36:14.27 "We have seen Him, God, in the flesh. " 00:36:14.47\00:36:18.17 Amen! "He's the manifestation of God! " 00:36:18.37\00:36:22.44 You can also test... you can also test the last part of it. 00:36:26.01\00:36:30.29 You can test the evidence. 00:36:30.69\00:36:33.09 I think the greatest evidence of those last six commandments 00:36:36.59\00:36:42.03 is Jesus Himself. 00:36:42.43\00:36:44.07 He lived a perfect... Isn't that good news for you? 00:36:44.93\00:36:46.97 Amen! The good news is that I get Jesus, 00:36:47.17\00:36:49.37 and if I have Him then I get His perfect life 00:36:49.57\00:36:51.47 and that's a wonderful thing. 00:36:51.67\00:36:53.78 But the Ten Commandments also do something else. 00:36:53.98\00:36:55.78 They're like a Bill of Rights. They guarantee 00:36:55.98\00:36:59.51 us certain rights. Let me tell you what they do. 00:36:59.71\00:37:01.55 The Ten Commandments guarantee that you and I have the right 00:37:02.42\00:37:06.12 to live. Amen! "Thou shalt not kill. " 00:37:06.32\00:37:10.09 "Thou shalt not murder" guarantees the right to live. 00:37:10.29\00:37:13.86 It also guarantees you the right to marry and have a family 00:37:14.06\00:37:17.37 and not to have it messed with. 00:37:17.57\00:37:19.33 And it guarantees that you have a right to property. 00:37:21.90\00:37:25.17 And it also guarantees that you have the right 00:37:27.54\00:37:29.34 to know the truth. 00:37:29.54\00:37:31.25 So the Ten Commandments create a free society. 00:37:33.48\00:37:37.65 It's the law of liberty and it creates a free society. 00:37:38.45\00:37:42.56 But not only does it create a free society 00:37:42.76\00:37:45.33 but there's something else that goes along with any 00:37:45.53\00:37:47.56 free society and that is obligations. 00:37:47.76\00:37:51.33 So the Ten Commandments says you have obligations. 00:37:52.63\00:37:54.80 One of those obligations is to your Creator/Redeemer. 00:37:55.74\00:37:59.31 I mean, He's... If your heart is beating it's because He makes it 00:37:59.51\00:38:03.45 beat. Amen. If you breathe, it's because 00:38:03.65\00:38:05.65 He gives you air to breathe. 00:38:05.85\00:38:07.92 Everything you see: every atom in the universe, 00:38:08.32\00:38:11.92 every electron is made possible by His continued upholding 00:38:12.12\00:38:16.66 power. "In Him we live and move 00:38:16.86\00:38:19.59 and have our being. " Amen! 00:38:19.79\00:38:22.66 So we have an obligation... we have an obligation to parents. 00:38:24.67\00:38:28.00 We have an obligation to family, to wife and children. 00:38:28.67\00:38:31.97 Yes, God's law is love because it reflects God 00:38:32.74\00:38:35.81 and the Bible says that "God IS love. " 00:38:36.01\00:38:39.48 Unselfish love, by the way. 00:38:39.98\00:38:43.15 But there's a problem and the problem is 00:38:43.35\00:38:47.36 that of ourselves 00:38:48.59\00:38:53.83 we cannot keep God's commandments. 00:38:54.23\00:38:57.07 Not because He created us that way 00:38:57.27\00:38:59.73 but because of what sin has done to us. 00:38:59.93\00:39:02.50 So we're going to need a solution. 00:39:05.37\00:39:08.38 The truth is that as long as you keep God's law you're going to 00:39:09.08\00:39:11.81 have freedom. Isn't that good news? 00:39:12.01\00:39:13.42 As long as you keep God's law you're going to have life. 00:39:13.62\00:39:15.85 That's the reason why it couldn't keep Jesus in the grave 00:39:16.25\00:39:18.25 is because Jesus was a good and godly Man 00:39:18.45\00:39:20.79 and you can't keep a perfect Man in the grave. 00:39:20.99\00:39:23.49 Had to resurrect Him. 00:39:24.99\00:39:27.06 So if you keep God's Ten Com- mandments you're going to live. 00:39:28.66\00:39:31.33 The problem is we've all broken them. 00:39:31.83\00:39:34.20 We've got a big problem. 00:39:34.60\00:39:36.40 Romans chapter 7. You know... you know Romans chapter 7. 00:39:39.14\00:39:44.25 It says... Verses 10-12. It says: "The commandment 00:39:44.45\00:39:47.48 which was to bring life... " To bring what? 00:39:47.68\00:39:50.59 Life. "life, I found... " the apostle Paul said 00:39:50.79\00:39:54.39 "to bring death. " Now was the problem 00:39:54.59\00:39:57.09 in the commandment or was the problem with the apostle Paul? 00:39:57.29\00:40:00.56 Was the problem with the life-giving commandment 00:40:01.53\00:40:04.60 or the sin-dealing counter to God's Ten Commandments? 00:40:04.80\00:40:09.64 He says: "I found to bring death. " 00:40:11.14\00:40:12.87 Then he names the culprit: "For sin 00:40:13.07\00:40:16.28 taking occasion by the commandment 00:40:16.48\00:40:18.88 deceived me and it killed me. " 00:40:19.08\00:40:22.68 I think I've shared this somewhere else, so if you 00:40:24.95\00:40:26.52 hear it again, forgive me. 00:40:26.72\00:40:28.12 When I was a boy we lived in North Carolina 00:40:29.69\00:40:32.93 and the summers were really hot and sticky. 00:40:33.13\00:40:34.80 And we didn't have air conditioning so we used to play 00:40:35.96\00:40:38.77 in the basement. 00:40:38.97\00:40:40.54 Had a dirt floor and some cement. 00:40:41.30\00:40:43.64 And everything was exposed. You could see all the pipes 00:40:44.04\00:40:46.17 and everything. And my mom and dad had a rule. 00:40:46.37\00:40:50.98 What did I say? A rule. A rule: 00:40:51.18\00:40:53.92 do not swing on the pipes. 00:40:54.82\00:40:57.49 Now there was a good reason for the rule. 00:40:59.95\00:41:01.46 Am I right? Yes! That was a sewer line down there. 00:41:01.66\00:41:04.59 That was a water line down there. That was... 00:41:04.79\00:41:07.30 But, you know, when you're 6 or 7 years old 00:41:07.50\00:41:10.07 you don't think much about that. 00:41:10.47\00:41:11.80 You just know you're bored. 00:41:12.33\00:41:14.77 So I'm swinging upside down on those pipes 00:41:16.74\00:41:20.38 and all of a sudden I hear that wonderful mother of mine. 00:41:22.41\00:41:25.71 She's sleeping, waiting for Jesus to come. 00:41:25.91\00:41:27.78 I lost her a little over a year ago. 00:41:28.88\00:41:32.69 Wonderful mother. 00:41:32.89\00:41:34.42 I heard her say: "Jay... come up here. " 00:41:34.62\00:41:38.59 So I went outside. The steps didn't go inside the house 00:41:38.99\00:41:41.66 to the basement of the house. I went outside 00:41:41.86\00:41:43.67 up the steps to the back porch 00:41:43.87\00:41:45.20 and she looked at me. She had one of the washing machines... 00:41:45.23\00:41:47.60 I date myself... you know where it has the rollers 00:41:47.80\00:41:49.17 and you squeeze out? OK... you got that. 00:41:49.37\00:41:51.27 And she looked at me and she says: "Jay, 00:41:52.27\00:41:55.34 were you swinging on the pipes? " 00:41:56.31\00:41:58.71 And I looked at my mother 00:41:59.68\00:42:01.92 and I said: "No. " 00:42:02.42\00:42:03.85 The first and last time I ever lied to my mother. 00:42:07.92\00:42:11.26 Now question and answer... if they had not made a rule 00:42:13.50\00:42:18.07 would I have been in trouble? No. 00:42:19.50\00:42:22.00 Yes and no. 00:42:23.91\00:42:25.24 No because I wouldn't be held accountable. Am I right? 00:42:27.24\00:42:29.74 But that doesn't change the consequences of breaking 00:42:30.81\00:42:33.42 a sewer line in the basement. 00:42:33.62\00:42:35.28 You understand? 00:42:36.99\00:42:38.39 Ignorance isn't going to help us. 00:42:38.79\00:42:40.99 We need to know, and Jesus lets us know 00:42:44.19\00:42:47.60 through His Ten Commandments 00:42:47.76\00:42:49.10 "You break these you're going to break the sewer line 00:42:49.13\00:42:51.43 and it's going to be a huge problem. " 00:42:51.63\00:42:53.23 And it's far bigger than breaking a sewer line. 00:42:54.30\00:42:56.91 So sin in me takes advantage of me. 00:42:59.17\00:43:05.15 That's how it kills me. 00:43:06.51\00:43:08.55 That's why Paul says: "Therefore the law is holy. " 00:43:08.85\00:43:11.49 I don't know why our friends can't get this. 00:43:11.69\00:43:13.02 I say in sweet kindness to our friends: "Therefore the law is 00:43:13.09\00:43:16.69 holy and the commandment is holy and just and good. " 00:43:16.89\00:43:21.50 If the commandment is holy, just and good, 00:43:21.70\00:43:24.03 then ALL OF IT is holy, just and good. 00:43:24.23\00:43:26.53 Now I've said this before, I'll say it again: 00:43:26.74\00:43:28.70 if the 10 Commandments matter the Sabbath matters. 00:43:28.90\00:43:31.61 AMEN! The Sabbath... If the 10 Commandments don't matter, 00:43:31.81\00:43:34.74 the Sabbath doesn't matter. 00:43:35.81\00:43:37.35 The 10th commandment spoken on just before so nicely 00:43:38.98\00:43:42.62 and wonderfully... the 10th commandment 00:43:42.82\00:43:45.75 says nothing... says nothing about what you do. 00:43:45.95\00:43:50.53 It says everything about what you think. 00:43:50.73\00:43:53.40 It talks about your heart. 00:43:55.63\00:43:57.57 But we're born with a covetous selfish heart. 00:43:59.03\00:44:03.10 But the Lord says: "Don't covet. " 00:44:03.61\00:44:06.11 So how do I get this change of heart? 00:44:06.31\00:44:09.58 Let me tell you: theory - the truth - 00:44:09.78\00:44:13.31 always needs an agent. Am I right? 00:44:13.52\00:44:16.28 In the book of Romans chapter 7 and verse 8 00:44:16.92\00:44:19.39 there are three laws. 00:44:19.59\00:44:21.49 One of the laws is the Ten Commandments. 00:44:21.69\00:44:23.43 You can look at the context. The other law is the law of 00:44:23.63\00:44:26.66 sin and death, but there's another law that will come 00:44:26.86\00:44:31.30 into play because as Paul has these two wrestling here 00:44:31.50\00:44:35.20 he says this, you know the words. 00:44:35.40\00:44:38.04 He says... he says: "O wretched man that I am! 00:44:38.24\00:44:42.38 Who... " There's the agent not the theory. 00:44:42.58\00:44:47.15 "Who will deliver me from this body of death? " 00:44:50.99\00:44:55.92 From this terrible struggle. And chapter 8 verse 2 00:44:56.12\00:45:01.06 introduces a new law, a new agent. 00:45:01.46\00:45:05.13 This law does not come merely in theory. 00:45:05.33\00:45:07.80 It doesn't merely tell you the truth. 00:45:08.00\00:45:10.61 It brings with it the agent. 00:45:10.81\00:45:13.04 And here is the agent and the agent is this: 00:45:13.24\00:45:16.61 "For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. " 00:45:16.81\00:45:20.85 There's a third law. The law of the spirit of what? 00:45:21.05\00:45:24.05 Life in Christ Jesus. 00:45:24.45\00:45:27.89 Has made me free from that other law of sin and death. 00:45:28.09\00:45:32.23 I want to say Hallelujah! 00:45:32.43\00:45:33.76 That's what I want to be free from. 00:45:33.93\00:45:35.90 And then he says this 00:45:41.67\00:45:44.31 which I don't understand why people don't get it. 00:45:44.51\00:45:49.84 I say it real kindly, but for the sake of time 00:45:50.05\00:45:52.65 I'm going to move right down to verse 3, part of verse 3. 00:45:52.85\00:45:57.75 It says... He does this third law, this third agent. 00:45:58.79\00:46:01.59 He condemns sin in the flesh. 00:46:01.99\00:46:03.83 Verse 4... here it is. 00:46:04.03\00:46:06.73 By the way, let me say it this way: 00:46:07.13\00:46:08.83 Everything that you know about faith in Christ, 00:46:09.70\00:46:12.23 everything that you know about Christ our righteousness, 00:46:12.43\00:46:14.70 everything that you know about righteousness by faith, 00:46:15.10\00:46:18.21 everything that you know about the great Protestant concept 00:46:18.41\00:46:22.14 that we're saved by faith alone and grace alone, 00:46:22.34\00:46:24.71 all of that is for what's coming next. 00:46:25.95\00:46:29.62 "That the righteous requirement of the law 00:46:32.75\00:46:36.46 might be fulfilled in us. " 00:46:37.69\00:46:41.03 Amen! In other words, this whole thing is to bring us 00:46:41.23\00:46:44.07 back into harmony with God's beautiful law of freedom. 00:46:44.27\00:46:47.67 That's why Jesus came to this world. 00:46:47.87\00:46:49.74 And for people to get up and say the law of God doesn't matter 00:46:50.14\00:46:52.71 I don't know if they need their glasses changed 00:46:52.91\00:46:55.61 or just what. But the Scripture is clear! 00:46:55.81\00:46:58.65 All of this, and there's no greater man who preaches 00:46:59.58\00:47:03.12 righteousness by faith than the apostle Paul. 00:47:03.32\00:47:06.29 And right in the middle of it all he says: 00:47:06.49\00:47:08.89 "In other that the righteous requirements of the law 00:47:09.29\00:47:13.13 might be fulfilled in... " Whom? 00:47:13.33\00:47:15.96 "us. " 00:47:16.36\00:47:18.60 Saints with patience 00:47:24.21\00:47:30.18 are going to do battle with the beast and his image. 00:47:30.38\00:47:33.65 In that book Testimonies to the Church vol. 6 00:47:34.48\00:47:38.75 and I say... Evidence... we have a blessing. 00:47:42.39\00:47:46.23 We believe in sola scriptura but we also believe that 00:47:46.43\00:47:49.83 we have in the church the gift of prophecy. 00:47:50.03\00:47:52.20 Isn't that a wonderful thing? 00:47:52.40\00:47:53.74 I think it's a great thing. You know, Ellen White says 00:47:53.80\00:47:55.37 her work was like a lesser light to lead to the greater light. 00:47:55.57\00:47:58.61 It's like John the Baptist pointing to Jesus. 00:47:58.81\00:48:01.94 Her work was to point back to the Scripture. 00:48:02.14\00:48:05.21 And she had an insight here 00:48:07.78\00:48:12.49 that she saw, I think in vision, she saw the prophet 00:48:12.69\00:48:16.32 John looking and watching the scene 00:48:16.52\00:48:21.16 of Revelation. Isn't that interesting? 00:48:21.36\00:48:23.06 Here's what she... and you'll get the context here: 00:48:27.44\00:48:29.87 "Satan is working to the utmost to make himself as God 00:48:30.07\00:48:33.64 to destroy all who oppose his power. " 00:48:33.84\00:48:36.01 That's why we have to have the patience of the saints. 00:48:36.21\00:48:38.35 We've got somebody working against us. 00:48:38.55\00:48:40.02 We fight not against flesh and blood. 00:48:40.22\00:48:42.52 "And today" she goes on... "the world is bowing before him. " 00:48:44.95\00:48:49.42 "His power is received as the power of God. 00:48:50.93\00:48:53.93 The prophecy of Revelation is being fulfilled 00:48:54.13\00:48:56.40 that all the world wondered after the beast. " 00:48:56.60\00:48:59.23 It might just started being fulfilled in her day 00:48:59.43\00:49:02.80 but today it's been fulfilled! 00:49:03.00\00:49:04.54 Then she goes on: 00:49:07.11\00:49:09.18 "Men in their blindness boast of the wonderful progress 00:49:09.58\00:49:14.58 and enlightenment. " Does that sound like our world? 00:49:14.78\00:49:16.18 Hello Silicon Valley. 00:49:16.38\00:49:18.79 But to the eye of the Omnipotent 00:49:21.29\00:49:24.16 are revealed the inward guilt and depravity. " 00:49:24.46\00:49:27.86 You can have all the technology in the world 00:49:28.06\00:49:29.90 and it cannot fix a human heart! 00:49:30.10\00:49:32.80 All the education and Ph.D's 00:49:33.00\00:49:35.57 and Th.D's... and I'm not against those things... 00:49:35.77\00:49:38.24 all of that education cannot fix a human heart. 00:49:38.64\00:49:41.38 It cannot bring us back into harmony 00:49:43.21\00:49:45.11 with the great law of the universe. 00:49:45.31\00:49:47.25 It cannot put us back in harmony with God. 00:49:47.45\00:49:49.65 "The heavenly watchers see the earth filled 00:49:52.79\00:49:55.56 with violence and crime. 00:49:55.76\00:49:58.16 Wealth is obtained by every species of robbery: 00:49:58.56\00:50:01.50 not robbery of men only but of God. 00:50:01.70\00:50:03.50 Men are using His means to gratify their selfishness. 00:50:03.70\00:50:06.40 Everything they can grasp 00:50:07.87\00:50:09.40 is made the minister of their greed. " 00:50:09.60\00:50:11.71 We might add to their hedonistic pleasure. 00:50:11.91\00:50:14.84 Moving down. "But the cloud of judicial wrath 00:50:18.41\00:50:23.45 hangs over them. " There's going to be a price to pay. 00:50:23.65\00:50:28.72 Jesus paid the price so we don't have to. 00:50:29.79\00:50:34.46 But if you reject Jesus or you create a false Jesus 00:50:34.86\00:50:39.70 or you create a Jesus in your own image 00:50:39.90\00:50:41.74 you will pay the price. 00:50:43.91\00:50:45.87 "But a cloud of judicial wrath hangs over them 00:50:54.48\00:50:56.99 containing the elements that destroyed Sodom. " 00:50:57.19\00:51:00.82 We're living in Sodom and Gomorrah today. 00:51:01.32\00:51:04.03 "In his visions of things to come... " she says... 00:51:07.73\00:51:11.40 "John beheld the scene... beheld the scene. 00:51:11.80\00:51:15.57 This demon worship was revealed to him, and it seemed to him 00:51:15.77\00:51:18.94 as if the whole world were standing on the brink 00:51:19.14\00:51:21.34 of perdition. " 00:51:21.54\00:51:23.61 In other words, he looks and he says: "I don't see any hope 00:51:25.38\00:51:28.55 for the world. The world looks like it's just headed for utter 00:51:28.75\00:51:32.05 destruction. " 00:51:32.25\00:51:33.89 He sees it! 00:51:36.26\00:51:37.66 He can see it all from Adam all the way down, but he sees it 00:51:37.86\00:51:41.26 here in the end of time as Babylon puts her thing together. 00:51:41.46\00:51:44.47 And then she says this: 00:51:44.67\00:51:47.34 "But as he - John the prophet, John the Revelator - 00:51:47.54\00:51:50.41 looked with intense interest 00:51:50.61\00:51:53.54 he beheld the company of God's commandment-keeping people. " 00:51:53.94\00:51:58.31 AMEN! 00:51:58.51\00:51:59.85 That's the company I want to be part of. Amen! 00:52:00.05\00:52:02.25 Now they may take away what- ever little money you've got. 00:52:02.45\00:52:04.79 They may take away your farm; they may take away your house. 00:52:05.85\00:52:08.29 They may take away your car. 00:52:08.49\00:52:09.82 They may take away all the credit cards. 00:52:09.96\00:52:11.73 I'm telling you before it's done and said 00:52:12.13\00:52:14.20 we won't have anything except our faith in the Savior. 00:52:14.40\00:52:18.40 Amen! And Satan is getting ready. 00:52:18.60\00:52:20.74 This is final deception... this is the big deal. 00:52:20.94\00:52:23.17 This is when he's going to bring it all together. 00:52:23.37\00:52:25.77 But I'm telling you that the prophet says 00:52:26.47\00:52:29.24 that he sees... he sees a group of people 00:52:29.44\00:52:32.75 keeping the commandments of God 00:52:32.95\00:52:34.65 and in their foreheads they have the seal of the Living God. 00:52:34.85\00:52:37.85 And then he quotes the text, he sees them. "HERE... " 00:52:38.05\00:52:40.89 I love that word. He looks everywhere across the universe. 00:52:41.09\00:52:43.73 He looks at the world ready to be destroyed, 00:52:43.93\00:52:46.19 divine judgment hanging over the world, 00:52:46.39\00:52:47.90 and then he says: "HERE. " 00:52:48.10\00:52:50.43 "Here is the patience of the saints. 00:52:51.87\00:52:54.40 Here are they that keep the commandments of God 00:52:54.80\00:52:57.47 and the faith of Jesus. " AMEN! 00:52:57.67\00:53:01.24 Let me tell you... 00:53:01.74\00:53:03.24 let me tell you: 00:53:04.61\00:53:06.48 this thing is going to get ugly. 00:53:06.68\00:53:08.82 Going to get really ugly. 00:53:10.75\00:53:12.15 We need to become perfect like our heavenly Father. 00:53:14.32\00:53:16.73 Now I know... I can hear them now 00:53:16.93\00:53:18.93 in the church and out of the church. 00:53:19.13\00:53:20.46 I tell you in sweet kindness. 00:53:20.50\00:53:21.83 But Jesus trumps everybody. 00:53:22.90\00:53:25.53 And I don't know that I have a lot of time to read this, 00:53:26.94\00:53:29.67 but let's just... let's just go back to Matthew. 00:53:29.87\00:53:32.54 Let's just go back to Matthew chapter 5 for just a minute. 00:53:32.94\00:53:35.94 Matthew chapter 5. 00:53:36.34\00:53:37.75 We'll come back to this: Matthew chapter 5 00:53:38.15\00:53:40.58 and I want to look at verse 43. 00:53:40.78\00:53:42.78 "You have heard... " chapter 5 verse 43, 00:53:43.52\00:53:45.55 Sermon on the Mount... 00:53:45.75\00:53:47.09 I don't think there's ever been a sermon preached like this 00:53:47.22\00:53:48.96 sermon. I would love to have heard it. 00:53:49.16\00:53:51.83 "You have heard that it was said to you 'You shall love 00:53:52.76\00:53:54.86 your neighbor and hate your enemy.
