Now some people... they kind of
are in two ends of the spectrum.

that their strict lifestyle

are going to earn them
the right to salvation.

That's a mistake.

They are forgetting

opposite end of the spectrum

we have people
who mistakenly believe

our duty to obey God.

So let's begin our journey
by talking about the law.

Any time you see the
words "the law" in Scripture

carefully search the context.

If it says "the
law and the prophets"

as a term, that's referring
to all of the Old Testament.

it is referring to
the first five books

of the Old Testament:

Now sometimes
the moral law of God

is just referred
to as "the law, "

people try to say

that he's talking
about the Ten Commandments

"the law of sin and death. "

God and that they are holy

about the moral law of God.

to show their permanence.
And where were they placed?

the Most Holy Place.

Why were inside the ark?

The ark is the foundation...
I mean, they are the foundation

This is the
foundation of His sovereignty...

So what we're going to see today

Commandments were the heart

they are the heart of the new.

So let's look in Scripture
at James 2 verses 10 through 12.

about? We don't know yet,

This is the Ten Commandments.

See, the Ten
Commandments are not individual.

They are like a chain link.

you're guilty of
breaking the moral law of God.

He's still talking about the

they are written in our heart

and as we are
empowered by the Holy Spirit

and we're motivated
to obey Him out of love

and loyalty that we
will be set free from sin.

Now, let's look
at the other law:

the book of the law.

You know, when God
first had the Hebrew children

after He'd delivered them and
they're all around the mountain,

God was up on the mountain,
He spoke the Ten Commandments.

He didn't write them yet.

He spoke them with
all of His pyrotechnics.

Everybody is trembling and
God was trying to show them

who He was because
it had been a while.

They really didn't
know Him all that well.

So He spoke those. Then He
had Moses come up the mountain

and He gave Moses civil laws,

ceremonial laws,

and, of course,
reinforcing the Ten Commandments

the rights. So Moses
comes down from the mountain.

He speaks this to the people

because the people really most
of them couldn't read or write.

So he speaks all
of these civil laws,

the ceremonial laws, and re-
iterates the Ten Commandments.

And the people then say: "Yes. "

He has sacrifices prepared

The civil, the ceremonial,

What is he doing? He
is ratifying the covenant.

It is written in the book.

civil laws that also includes

law that was a tutor to bring us

"If you're led by the Spirit,

And a lot of people say:

keep the Ten Commandments. "

see "the law" you have to look

people to Jesus Christ.
