Welcome to the 3ABN Spring Camp Meeting: 00:00:41.14\00:00:43.94 The Three Angels' Messages. 00:00:44.14\00:00:46.64 And we do welcome you all back to the second sermon 00:00:50.05\00:00:54.78 in these three angels' messages. 00:00:54.98\00:00:57.55 In just a few minutes Pastor Bradshaw is going to 00:00:57.75\00:01:01.16 come back. Did you enjoy that first message? 00:01:01.36\00:01:03.76 That was amazing! 00:01:03.96\00:01:06.26 And I thought... There's like electricity in the air. 00:01:06.66\00:01:11.57 But you know what that is? That's God's holy presence. 00:01:11.77\00:01:14.94 That is the anointing of Almighty God in this place. 00:01:15.14\00:01:18.47 And Pastor Bradshaw is going to bring us the next message 00:01:18.87\00:01:22.18 which is The Everlasting Gospel. 00:01:22.38\00:01:24.51 So let's prepare ourselves to be blessed again. 00:01:24.71\00:01:28.42 But before he comes Yvonne Lewis-Shelton 00:01:28.82\00:01:32.02 is going to come and minister a beautiful song to us. 00:01:32.22\00:01:34.82 You know, she and Tim Parton wrote this song together. 00:01:35.22\00:01:38.26 And I'm going to ask that she tell you all about it. 00:01:38.46\00:01:42.13 Sr. Yvonne and Tim. Thank you Mollie. 00:01:42.33\00:01:45.60 So about three months ago Danny and Tim and I 00:01:46.00\00:01:50.04 were coming back from a ministry event 00:01:50.24\00:01:52.37 and Danny said to Tim and me 00:01:52.57\00:01:56.28 that we should write a song together. 00:01:56.48\00:01:58.25 And so... bless his heart, Tim - he's a great writer 00:01:58.65\00:02:02.08 and I'm really not... And so the next morning 00:02:02.28\00:02:06.62 I was in my worship room and I asked the Lord for a song. 00:02:06.82\00:02:10.33 I said: "Lord, would you just give me a song? " 00:02:10.73\00:02:12.99 And He gave me these lyrics 00:02:13.40\00:02:16.46 and so... and they just came... it was amazing! 00:02:16.67\00:02:20.54 And so I sent them to Tim 00:02:20.74\00:02:22.97 and in about two hours 00:02:23.17\00:02:25.74 this is the song that Tim sent back to me. 00:02:26.14\00:02:30.01 And so we're sharing it with you. 00:02:30.21\00:02:31.85 Your Love Will Lift Me Up. 00:02:32.05\00:02:34.08 Lord, I come to You with a heavy heart 00:02:39.05\00:02:43.83 'cause I know I've let You down. 00:02:44.46\00:02:48.00 All that sparkle and amusement 00:02:48.76\00:02:53.00 caused me to lose my ground. 00:02:53.40\00:02:58.21 I've lost my moral compass 00:02:58.61\00:03:02.24 and all sense of direction. 00:03:02.64\00:03:07.78 Please lead me to the path 00:03:08.18\00:03:10.99 of Your perfection. 00:03:11.19\00:03:15.52 Love will lift me up; 00:03:16.73\00:03:20.23 Your love will fill my cup. 00:03:21.33\00:03:25.27 No more emptiness or vain regrets... 00:03:26.20\00:03:30.97 no shame or guilt or secrets. 00:03:31.17\00:03:35.48 Your love will 00:03:35.68\00:03:38.61 lift me up! 00:03:38.81\00:03:43.15 All the clouds that now obscure my heart 00:03:45.55\00:03:49.86 will start to disappear. 00:03:50.26\00:03:53.29 All the anger, hurt, and pain will leave 00:03:54.46\00:03:59.23 along with doubt and fear. 00:03:59.43\00:04:03.74 I trust that You will guide me, Lord, 00:04:04.14\00:04:08.51 through all life's twists and turns. 00:04:08.71\00:04:12.81 Please take my hand 00:04:13.21\00:04:15.28 and hold me close 00:04:15.48\00:04:18.02 for You my spirit yearns. 00:04:18.42\00:04:23.63 Oh, love will lift me up; 00:04:23.83\00:04:28.10 Your love will fill my cup. 00:04:28.90\00:04:33.00 No more emptiness or vain regrets... 00:04:33.80\00:04:38.34 no shame or guilt or secrets. 00:04:38.54\00:04:42.88 Your love will 00:04:43.08\00:04:45.35 lift me up! 00:04:45.55\00:04:50.09 Oh, love will lift me up; 00:04:50.82\00:04:55.92 Your love will fill my cup. 00:04:56.12\00:05:00.20 No more emptiness or vain regrets... 00:05:00.86\00:05:05.47 no shame or guilt or secrets. 00:05:05.77\00:05:10.34 Your love will 00:05:10.74\00:05:13.21 lift me up! 00:05:13.41\00:05:18.51 Your love will 00:05:20.42\00:05:23.49 lift 00:05:23.69\00:05:26.55 me up! 00:05:26.76\00:05:32.66 Amen! 00:05:37.40\00:05:39.13 Good evening everyone. Good evening! 00:05:46.37\00:05:48.94 I mean this... I mean this with all my heart: 00:05:53.62\00:05:55.88 Yvonne Lewis-Shelton is one of my favorite singers 00:05:56.92\00:05:59.55 in the world. Amen! She just is. 00:05:59.75\00:06:01.42 In fact, if you compiled a list of my favorite people, 00:06:02.09\00:06:05.96 she'd be somewhere right up near the top. 00:06:06.16\00:06:07.50 She's wonderful! Hope she didn't hear me say that. 00:06:07.56\00:06:11.00 Wonderful! Welcome to Camp Meeting. 00:06:11.20\00:06:15.90 I'm glad you're here... I'm really glad you're here. 00:06:16.10\00:06:18.37 Hope you got here without any issues and that 00:06:18.57\00:06:22.54 you are planning on... Someone laughed when I said that. 00:06:22.74\00:06:25.11 All right... I take that to mean you probably did. 00:06:25.31\00:06:27.88 I expect that you've come expecting to be blessed. 00:06:29.78\00:06:32.99 Amen! 00:06:33.19\00:06:34.99 You know, when you open up the Bible you ought to expect 00:06:35.72\00:06:40.46 to be blessed. Amen! 00:06:40.66\00:06:42.33 And the blessings aren't always super evident at the time. 00:06:43.57\00:06:47.80 You know. Sometimes you open up the Bible 00:06:48.40\00:06:52.14 and you read the Bible and you close the Bible 00:06:52.34\00:06:53.78 and you can go away kind of feeling much the same as you did 00:06:53.98\00:06:56.51 before you opened up the Bible. 00:06:56.71\00:06:58.31 But it's important to remember we are saved by faith 00:06:58.95\00:07:01.58 and not feeling. 00:07:01.78\00:07:03.12 And the Bible isn't given to us for the purpose of ecstasy. 00:07:03.25\00:07:06.59 It's given to us for the purpose of intimacy with God 00:07:06.99\00:07:10.99 so that we can know the mind of God 00:07:11.19\00:07:13.66 and know Jesus 00:07:13.86\00:07:15.20 so He can possess us more and more and more. 00:07:15.23\00:07:17.47 So we'll open the Bible this evening. 00:07:18.17\00:07:21.84 We are going to talk about the three angels' messages. 00:07:22.04\00:07:25.91 Now as you get through Camp Meeting 00:07:26.88\00:07:29.91 what you're going to discover is that you're going to start 00:07:30.11\00:07:32.55 drilling down kind of deep 00:07:32.75\00:07:34.82 into various aspects of the three angels' messages. 00:07:35.02\00:07:38.45 My privilege tonight is to look at the three angels' messages 00:07:39.09\00:07:41.52 in an overview form... an overview form. 00:07:41.72\00:07:44.89 And after this this is where you start to do the real digging. 00:07:45.29\00:07:49.06 You're going to start to focus in on various aspects 00:07:49.26\00:07:53.40 of the three angels' messages: the messages of three angels 00:07:53.60\00:07:56.60 in Revelation chapter 14. 00:07:56.81\00:07:58.74 Particularly important. 00:07:59.14\00:08:01.38 So let's begin by praying 00:08:02.04\00:08:04.71 and anticipating that God would come very close 00:08:04.91\00:08:08.15 to us as we study His Word tonight. 00:08:08.35\00:08:10.15 Let's pray. 00:08:10.55\00:08:11.89 Our dear heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of 00:08:13.86\00:08:16.29 Jesus. 00:08:16.49\00:08:18.06 We believe that it is Your desire to bless us. 00:08:20.86\00:08:25.73 As we open Your Word we know it is Your desire 00:08:28.10\00:08:32.04 to speak to us. 00:08:32.24\00:08:33.71 You have said - Your spokesperson said - that 00:08:33.91\00:08:37.71 Your Word would not return to You void 00:08:37.91\00:08:40.78 but it would accomplish what You sent it to accomplish. 00:08:41.18\00:08:44.45 It would prosper in the purpose for which You sent it. 00:08:44.85\00:08:48.09 We believe that. 00:08:50.16\00:08:51.49 Now we don't trust ourselves to be able to squeeze the Bible 00:08:51.89\00:08:55.93 and make the good stuff come out. 00:08:56.13\00:08:57.87 But we trust You to be able to feed us 00:08:58.63\00:09:01.77 with the bread of heaven. We don't want this to be 00:09:01.97\00:09:04.14 and intellectual or a human endeavor tonight. 00:09:04.34\00:09:07.91 We pray that something supernatural would happen. 00:09:09.08\00:09:11.65 We pray that we would see Jesus. 00:09:12.48\00:09:14.22 We pray that Your Word would be alive and powerful. 00:09:14.62\00:09:18.79 So speak to us, dear Lord, we pray 00:09:19.19\00:09:23.12 in Jesus' name - please, would you say with me - 00:09:23.53\00:09:28.56 Amen! Amen... Amen. 00:09:28.76\00:09:32.93 It was 1940... World War I was a year old. 00:09:35.94\00:09:39.54 America had not yet joined... 00:09:39.74\00:09:42.01 Did I say World War I? 00:09:42.41\00:09:44.18 If World War I was a year old in 1940, 00:09:44.38\00:09:46.68 then we all have trouble... we really do. 00:09:46.88\00:09:50.35 Everything we believed has just gone out the window! 00:09:51.85\00:09:54.96 In 1940 World War II was a year old. 00:09:58.63\00:10:02.83 United States had not joined World War II 00:10:04.10\00:10:06.23 until a little later. 00:10:06.63\00:10:09.10 But in 1940 it was progressing furiously. 00:10:10.91\00:10:16.88 In France British troops found themselves 00:10:17.28\00:10:22.98 surrounded. Wasn't good. 00:10:23.49\00:10:26.99 Germany was gaining the upper hand, 00:10:27.19\00:10:29.16 and so you had thousands of British and Belgian 00:10:29.36\00:10:32.03 and French troops that had been pressed back up against 00:10:32.23\00:10:35.50 the English Channel. 00:10:35.70\00:10:37.03 Germany had 'em on three sides... 00:10:38.13\00:10:40.07 the ocean had 'em on the fourth. 00:10:40.47\00:10:42.37 British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill 00:10:44.11\00:10:46.27 said this was a "colossal military disaster. " 00:10:46.47\00:10:49.28 The commander of the British expeditionary force 00:10:51.35\00:10:53.95 realized there was only one option: that was to evacuate. 00:10:54.15\00:10:56.45 How do you get almost 350,000 men 00:10:57.62\00:11:00.42 out of France when your only way out is the water? 00:11:01.62\00:11:06.39 When the enemy is pressing in on you 00:11:06.90\00:11:10.57 in a desperate fashion, how do you do that? 00:11:10.97\00:11:14.34 It was 390,000 men. 00:11:14.84\00:11:17.47 It was hoped that they'd get 50,000 out. 00:11:18.64\00:11:23.24 That was the hope. 00:11:24.41\00:11:25.78 What would become of the other 340,000? 00:11:26.51\00:11:29.22 Maybe you wouldn't want to think about that. 00:11:30.12\00:11:31.45 But for reasons that to this day are still unclear 00:11:33.15\00:11:35.82 Hitler took his foot off the Allied throat. 00:11:36.02\00:11:40.96 No one's really sure why. 00:11:42.43\00:11:43.80 It has been said that he was confident 00:11:45.70\00:11:47.97 that the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, 00:11:48.17\00:11:50.04 could do the job all on its own. 00:11:50.24\00:11:51.91 So there was a reprieve. 00:11:52.41\00:11:54.74 I don't know if Hitler anticipated what Churchill 00:11:55.14\00:11:57.61 was going to do, but Churchill issued a call 00:11:57.81\00:12:00.48 for anyone in England with a boat 00:12:01.52\00:12:04.42 to send it across... well, to pilot it across the channel 00:12:05.59\00:12:10.33 and get the Allies out of there 00:12:10.83\00:12:13.80 back to England and safety. 00:12:14.00\00:12:16.00 It's a very interesting thing: in the 1940's 00:12:16.93\00:12:19.93 England was still a very class-aware country. 00:12:20.34\00:12:24.54 Great Britain is the country. 00:12:24.94\00:12:26.41 Great Britain was a very class-aware country. 00:12:26.81\00:12:29.88 Not the caste system that you find in a place like India 00:12:30.75\00:12:34.28 but very much the upper class 00:12:34.68\00:12:38.15 and the lower class. And frankly never the twain shall meet. 00:12:38.35\00:12:43.02 Very much like that. 00:12:43.73\00:12:45.06 And yet in response to the call 00:12:45.76\00:12:50.20 issued by Britain's Prime Minister 00:12:50.50\00:12:54.00 people responded. 00:12:55.00\00:12:56.77 They crossed the channel - not a wide body of water - 00:12:57.44\00:13:00.28 in ferries and fishing boats and pleasure craft 00:13:00.68\00:13:05.31 and sloops and yachts and everything you could imagine. 00:13:05.51\00:13:10.99 Bankers and longshoremen 00:13:11.92\00:13:15.19 and taxi drivers and fishermen 00:13:15.39\00:13:18.06 and accountants and teachers, men and boys. 00:13:18.26\00:13:23.60 It was easy for the people in the boats to find out where 00:13:24.00\00:13:26.33 they were going. At night they could see the glow of the flames 00:13:26.53\00:13:29.90 and by day they could see the rising smoke. 00:13:30.11\00:13:31.77 They knew where to go. 00:13:31.97\00:13:33.38 Dunkirk was obviously just over there. 00:13:33.58\00:13:36.71 Many of the boats were tiny, and so the tiny boats 00:13:38.41\00:13:41.02 would go into shore, get the men, take them out 00:13:41.22\00:13:42.75 to the bigger boats. They'd go backwards and forwards 00:13:42.95\00:13:44.45 like taxis... water taxis if you like. 00:13:44.65\00:13:47.56 With the beach at Dunkirk under attack 00:13:49.26\00:13:52.79 from German artillery, bombers, and fighting planes 00:13:52.99\00:13:58.77 or fighter planes this rag-tag rescue force 00:13:58.97\00:14:02.90 managed to rescue 340,000 00:14:03.10\00:14:08.21 Britain's, French, and Belgians. 00:14:08.64\00:14:12.55 It was an incredible rescue mission. 00:14:12.95\00:14:16.38 You might say it was a miracle! 00:14:17.22\00:14:20.19 Few people would dare to say 00:14:20.39\00:14:23.26 that God had nothing to do with that. 00:14:23.46\00:14:26.09 You can't get that lucky. 00:14:26.29\00:14:28.96 Just isn't important. Nine days! 00:14:29.96\00:14:34.10 Historians look back at that time with utter amazement. 00:14:34.50\00:14:39.81 But when the chance to be rescued from calamity 00:14:41.21\00:14:44.21 from certain death comes along 00:14:45.51\00:14:48.85 analysis is probably best left for another day. 00:14:49.05\00:14:52.72 You accept the lifeline that's thrown to you. 00:14:54.06\00:14:57.56 Graciously... gratefully 00:14:58.06\00:15:01.26 you grab hold of it. How it came about 00:15:01.80\00:15:05.23 doesn't really matter. 00:15:05.43\00:15:07.64 But when somebody shows up to rescue you 00:15:08.04\00:15:12.67 you avail yourself of the rescue 00:15:13.07\00:15:15.91 and you get out of there alive. 00:15:16.78\00:15:20.85 You go back to the beginning of this earth's history 00:15:21.75\00:15:24.72 God created a beautiful world. 00:15:25.22\00:15:27.82 He started off by saying on day one - 00:15:28.02\00:15:30.99 on 24-hour period number one - 00:15:31.19\00:15:34.60 "Let there be light. " 00:15:34.80\00:15:36.73 And as He progressed through the six days of creation 00:15:37.53\00:15:40.97 He got to the place where He had made a beautiful 00:15:41.17\00:15:43.87 and a perfect world and placed in it 00:15:44.07\00:15:46.98 beautiful and perfect creatures, beautiful and perfect vegetation 00:15:47.18\00:15:51.48 and beautiful and perfect people. 00:15:51.68\00:15:53.85 And then on that first seventh day you can imagine God 00:15:54.75\00:15:57.79 fellowshipping with Adam and Eve and thinking 00:15:57.99\00:16:00.26 "This is great! " 00:16:00.46\00:16:02.29 And Adam and Eve must have thought the same thing. 00:16:02.49\00:16:04.79 And God in His wisdom realized He had to warn 00:16:04.99\00:16:07.56 Adam and Eve because He was aware 00:16:07.76\00:16:09.36 that there was a great controversy raging. 00:16:09.56\00:16:11.63 He knew that a high-ranking angel named Lucifer had 00:16:12.03\00:16:15.10 been evicted from heaven. He knew that Adam and Eve 00:16:15.30\00:16:17.77 were not out of danger. And so He said to them: "Listen, 00:16:17.97\00:16:20.31 when you get in that garden you can eat anything you want. 00:16:20.51\00:16:22.61 Take it; enjoy it... it's for you. EXCEPT... 00:16:22.81\00:16:25.71 EXCEPT for the fruit that grows on one tree. 00:16:25.91\00:16:30.09 Don't eat that... just don't. " 00:16:30.29\00:16:33.86 And so wandering through the garden they went, and Eve 00:16:34.62\00:16:36.83 got close to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil 00:16:37.03\00:16:38.99 and there was a s-s-s-s-nake 00:16:39.19\00:16:42.80 who s-s-s-s-aid to her 00:16:43.20\00:16:46.23 "Doesn't thi-s-s-s-s look s-s-s-s-uper? " 00:16:47.64\00:16:52.24 And Eve, God bless her, answered by saying: 00:16:56.71\00:17:00.32 Yessssss. 00:17:00.52\00:17:04.02 And before long the human family 00:17:04.42\00:17:07.16 was hedged in on three sides by an advancing enemy. 00:17:07.36\00:17:10.56 Behind them was the water. 00:17:11.59\00:17:13.53 There was no way out 00:17:13.73\00:17:15.66 and there was no point trying to swim. 00:17:15.86\00:17:18.20 They - we - were stuck. 00:17:19.33\00:17:23.37 There was no hope... there was no way out. 00:17:23.77\00:17:27.58 We needed rescue. 00:17:27.78\00:17:31.45 Friend, today we still need rescue. 00:17:32.45\00:17:37.09 We just do. 00:17:37.29\00:17:38.89 The Bible says all have sinned and come short of 00:17:39.29\00:17:41.86 the glory of God. But what do you do 00:17:42.06\00:17:46.19 to rescue a sinner? 00:17:47.06\00:17:49.90 What do you do for somebody with a broken... 00:17:50.30\00:17:53.77 yea, verily... with a defiled heart? 00:17:53.97\00:17:57.54 What do you do for somebody who is out of sync 00:17:57.74\00:18:01.68 with the God of heaven and therefore out of sync 00:18:01.88\00:18:04.81 with life itself? For in God is life. 00:18:05.01\00:18:09.48 What do you do? 00:18:09.88\00:18:11.79 Well, let's turn in our Bibles to Revelation chapter 14 00:18:12.69\00:18:17.43 and let's see. 00:18:17.63\00:18:18.96 Revelation chapter 14 00:18:19.29\00:18:22.13 and we're going to begin in verse 6 as we look tonight 00:18:22.33\00:18:26.43 at the everlasting gospel. 00:18:26.84\00:18:29.74 Revelation chapter 14 and verse 6 00:18:29.94\00:18:35.28 where John writes: "Then I saw another angel 00:18:35.48\00:18:39.98 fly in the midst of heaven hav- ing the everlasting... " What? 00:18:40.18\00:18:45.35 Gospel! "having the everlasting gospel 00:18:45.55\00:18:48.86 to preach to them that dwell on the earth. " 00:18:49.06\00:18:51.89 There's a word that's not there but I think 00:18:52.09\00:18:54.56 we can put it there - I hope you won't mind me doing this - 00:18:54.76\00:18:56.87 "having the everlasting gospel to preach to ALL them... " 00:18:57.07\00:19:02.57 Right? "to them - all of them - who dwell on the earth 00:19:02.77\00:19:08.18 and to every nation, kindred, 00:19:09.18\00:19:13.25 tongue, and people 00:19:13.65\00:19:17.09 saying with a loud voice 00:19:17.29\00:19:20.42 'Fear God and give glory to Him 00:19:20.82\00:19:24.26 for the hour of His judgment is come. 00:19:24.46\00:19:26.80 And worship Him that made heaven and earth 00:19:27.20\00:19:30.47 and the sea and the fountains of waters. ' " 00:19:30.67\00:19:34.50 There's plenty of time throughout Camp Meeting 00:19:34.70\00:19:36.97 for thorough analysis of these words, phrases, 00:19:37.17\00:19:40.74 and verses. For now... an overview. 00:19:40.94\00:19:43.81 But here humanity is alerted to the fact 00:19:44.51\00:19:47.78 that there is an everlasting gospel. 00:19:47.98\00:19:50.19 An eternal gospel. 00:19:50.69\00:19:52.19 A final gospel message to go to the world. 00:19:52.39\00:19:56.02 And the angel starts by sayin: "Fear God. " 00:19:57.09\00:20:00.10 Fall down before God; kneel before God; 00:20:00.50\00:20:03.87 love God; reverence God; fear God. 00:20:04.07\00:20:08.04 Give Him glory! Judgment time is come. 00:20:08.44\00:20:12.74 Wouldn't it sober you up if you knew that judgment 00:20:12.94\00:20:17.21 time was taking place? Wouldn't that be a sobering thought? 00:20:17.41\00:20:20.82 We ought to be sober tonight, what do you say? 00:20:20.98\00:20:22.88 Amen! We ought to be sober. 00:20:23.08\00:20:24.42 And then there's this call to worship Him who made, 00:20:25.32\00:20:28.96 to worship the Creator. 00:20:29.16\00:20:32.09 We all worship something. 00:20:32.29\00:20:34.56 We all worship someone. 00:20:34.76\00:20:36.83 You might worship the Yankees or the Red Sox. 00:20:37.23\00:20:41.00 Now me, I would recommend the Red Sox over the Yankees 00:20:41.20\00:20:43.81 but it doesn't matter any. 00:20:44.01\00:20:45.34 Because I believe if Solomon was writing Ecclesiastes 00:20:47.11\00:20:50.28 today he'd say: "MLB, NBA... the whole thing 00:20:50.48\00:20:52.61 is vanity. " I'm sure he would... I'm sure he would. 00:20:52.81\00:20:55.32 But you might worship a sports team 00:20:56.32\00:20:58.65 or a sports person, a celebrity or a family member 00:20:58.85\00:21:03.83 or spouse, a thing, a job, a possession... 00:21:04.03\00:21:07.50 money. You might worship these things. 00:21:07.66\00:21:12.37 The Bible calls us in earth's last days to worship God. 00:21:13.34\00:21:16.81 Yeah, that's an easy thing for believers. 00:21:17.01\00:21:18.51 But not just to worship God... to worship the Creator God. 00:21:18.71\00:21:22.44 The Creator God: the One who made. 00:21:22.64\00:21:24.98 We're going to learn more about this as we go through 00:21:25.18\00:21:26.82 this Camp Meeting. That's so important 00:21:27.02\00:21:28.65 I feel like stopping and diving into it now. 00:21:28.85\00:21:30.69 But it will be done more thoroughly at a later time. 00:21:30.89\00:21:33.19 "Another angel followed saying: 'Babylon is fallen, 00:21:33.96\00:21:36.86 is fallen...that great city 00:21:37.06\00:21:38.56 because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath 00:21:38.76\00:21:41.33 of her fornication. ' " You know when John wrote 00:21:41.53\00:21:43.40 Revelation he was like a magpie. He went through 00:21:43.60\00:21:45.80 the Old Testament gathering bits and pieces 00:21:46.00\00:21:48.20 from here and there. 00:21:48.40\00:21:49.74 And he was gathering imagery and symbolism 00:21:50.14\00:21:53.48 and words and phrases from the Old Testament so that 00:21:53.68\00:21:56.61 when his New Testament readers read the book of Revelation 00:21:56.81\00:21:59.68 with that frame of reference they would say: "Ah, we know 00:21:59.88\00:22:01.78 what he's talking about... we know what he's talking about. " 00:22:01.98\00:22:04.19 You know that Babylon fell once before back in the time... 00:22:04.39\00:22:06.76 after Nebuchadnezzar's grandson Belshazzar, 00:22:06.96\00:22:10.83 you understand a man whose knees started having fellowship 00:22:11.03\00:22:13.16 with each other when the writing appeared on the wall. 00:22:13.36\00:22:15.26 Babylon fell! 00:22:15.56\00:22:17.07 Gave way to the Medes and the Persians. 00:22:17.27\00:22:20.00 And we understand that Babylon was thoroughly wicked 00:22:20.64\00:22:23.44 and completely pagan and involved in false worship. 00:22:23.64\00:22:26.71 The word Babylon comes from that root word meaning 00:22:27.11\00:22:30.11 confusion. And so God is speak- ing about religious confusion 00:22:30.31\00:22:33.52 in earth's last days. 00:22:33.72\00:22:35.05 And He wants us to know there is no hope 00:22:35.58\00:22:38.49 in religious confusion... only in religious fidelity. 00:22:39.09\00:22:42.92 Only in spiritual clarity; only in true worship of the true God. 00:22:43.12\00:22:48.90 True worship. 00:22:49.10\00:22:50.47 And what a privilege to be able to worship God in spirit 00:22:50.87\00:22:53.37 and in truth. This was what Jesus recommended. 00:22:53.57\00:22:56.44 And then in verse 9: "A third angel followed them 00:22:56.64\00:22:58.84 saying with a loud voice: 'If anyone worships the beast 00:22:59.04\00:23:01.18 and his image and receives his mark in his forehead 00:23:01.38\00:23:03.11 or in his hand the same shall drink also 00:23:03.31\00:23:05.65 of the wine of the wrath... ' Ooh, this is serious, isn't it? 00:23:05.85\00:23:08.55 'The same will drink also of the wine of the wrath 00:23:08.95\00:23:11.52 of God which is poured out without mixture 00:23:11.72\00:23:14.06 into the cup of His indignation. 00:23:14.26\00:23:15.59 He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone 00:23:16.96\00:23:18.86 in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence 00:23:19.06\00:23:21.06 of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment 00:23:21.26\00:23:23.20 ascends up forever and ever. ' " 00:23:23.40\00:23:24.73 Oh my goodness! 00:23:25.00\00:23:26.33 "They have no rest day nor night who worship the beast 00:23:26.50\00:23:28.80 and his image, whosoever receiveth the mark 00:23:29.00\00:23:31.17 of his name. " And then we get into verse 12 00:23:31.37\00:23:33.11 and God wraps this thing up with hope and promise. 00:23:33.31\00:23:35.34 He says: "Here is the patience of the saints; 00:23:35.94\00:23:38.08 here are that that... " Do what? Tell me: there are two things 00:23:38.71\00:23:40.72 at least. Keep the commandments of God. 00:23:40.92\00:23:42.88 How many are there? Ten! Amen... that's right. 00:23:43.08\00:23:44.42 And the? Faith! Faith of Jesus. 00:23:44.49\00:23:47.62 They keep the commandments of God 00:23:47.82\00:23:49.52 and the faith of Jesus. 00:23:49.72\00:23:52.23 Now we are going to take the time 00:23:52.43\00:23:54.96 over the next few presen- tations in this Camp Meeting 00:23:55.16\00:23:57.67 to really get into "the hour of His judgment is come. " 00:23:58.17\00:24:01.57 What's that all about? 00:24:01.77\00:24:03.10 To get into worshiping Him "who made heaven and earth 00:24:03.24\00:24:05.87 the sea and the fountains of water. " 00:24:06.07\00:24:07.41 We'll identify and explore the idea of Babylon 00:24:07.44\00:24:10.88 and the fall of Babylon. 00:24:11.08\00:24:12.85 We'll discuss the wine of the wrath of her fornication 00:24:13.25\00:24:15.98 and the mark of the beast and keeping the commandments of God 00:24:16.18\00:24:18.89 and the faith of Jesus. 00:24:19.09\00:24:20.76 But as we embark on this journey 00:24:21.62\00:24:24.79 we're going to look at something so basic 00:24:25.89\00:24:29.06 there is a danger we might look right over the top of it. 00:24:29.26\00:24:32.23 We are here in this moment 00:24:33.13\00:24:36.44 to talk about the everlasting gospel. 00:24:36.64\00:24:40.98 And I fear 00:24:41.48\00:24:43.85 that if some of God's people were asked to explain 00:24:44.85\00:24:47.75 the everlasting gospel they would say: "Oh, oh, wait 00:24:48.15\00:24:51.29 a moment now... wait, wait. 00:24:51.49\00:24:52.85 That's fear God; give glory to Him. 00:24:53.05\00:24:55.72 The hour of His judgment is come. " 00:24:55.92\00:24:57.26 "Worship Him who made... " 00:24:57.59\00:24:59.19 "Babylon is fallen. 00:25:00.20\00:25:01.70 Let me tell you about the mark of the beast. " 00:25:01.90\00:25:03.57 "That was the everlasting gospel. " 00:25:03.77\00:25:05.93 I understand it; I get it... 00:25:06.13\00:25:08.87 but I don't entirely agree. 00:25:09.27\00:25:11.81 If that's our definition of the everlasting gospel, 00:25:12.21\00:25:16.21 we're overlooking something. 00:25:16.61\00:25:18.38 We're overlooking the gospel. 00:25:18.78\00:25:21.45 The everlasting gospel is the everlasting gospel. 00:25:22.12\00:25:26.49 And when God had John write out 00:25:27.46\00:25:30.66 Revelation chapter 14 verses 6 through 12 00:25:30.86\00:25:34.03 and speak of the everlasting gospel 00:25:34.23\00:25:36.46 He was not asking John to sidestep 00:25:36.67\00:25:39.50 the gospel part of the everlasting gospel. 00:25:39.70\00:25:43.20 He was hoping that we would read this and understand that 00:25:44.74\00:25:47.54 oddly enough the gospel 00:25:48.04\00:25:50.98 is the key component in the everlasting gospel... 00:25:51.18\00:25:56.85 not an afterthought. 00:25:57.32\00:25:59.42 Not an addendum; not optional 00:25:59.82\00:26:03.32 but it is the crux, the heart 00:26:03.73\00:26:09.23 of the matter: the everlasting gospel. 00:26:09.43\00:26:13.54 Yes, we ought to be familiar with the idiosyncrasies 00:26:13.74\00:26:17.11 of those verses. We ought to be familiar 00:26:17.31\00:26:18.94 with all of the details. We must... we ought to be. 00:26:19.14\00:26:21.14 They're there for a reason... we ought to study them, 00:26:21.34\00:26:23.08 know them, claim them, proclaim them! 00:26:23.28\00:26:25.65 There's no question about that. 00:26:25.85\00:26:27.18 But we are living too close to the return of Jesus 00:26:28.08\00:26:31.89 to be minoring in the gospel itself 00:26:32.29\00:26:35.82 and majoring in the details about earth's last days. 00:26:36.02\00:26:40.63 We would be tremendously unbalanced as believers 00:26:41.33\00:26:45.53 in Jesus if our first love wasn't Jesus. 00:26:45.73\00:26:50.01 Amen! If we couldn't give a gospel presentation. 00:26:50.21\00:26:54.04 I tell you what: there is a very real temptation 00:26:54.24\00:26:57.91 so much so that in many experiences it's a reality. 00:26:58.11\00:27:00.85 People don't feel like they have witnessed 00:27:01.25\00:27:03.75 until they've gone deep into Revelation chapter 14. 00:27:03.95\00:27:06.62 Sometimes that's necessary; sometimes that's appropriate. 00:27:07.12\00:27:11.26 But if you were to start on a journey someplace 00:27:11.76\00:27:14.10 you would start at the beginning. 00:27:14.30\00:27:15.63 And the beginning of the journey to heaven is Jesus. 00:27:15.66\00:27:18.00 Amen! And we must acquaint ourselves 00:27:18.20\00:27:21.44 with the gospel... with the eternal gospel. 00:27:21.64\00:27:25.57 What's it all about? Jesus came to this earth 00:27:25.77\00:27:30.41 and preached the gospel. 00:27:30.61\00:27:32.61 Matthew 4:23, Matthew 9:35, Matthew 11:5, 00:27:32.81\00:27:36.65 Matthew 26:13. 00:27:36.85\00:27:38.22 Jesus came and preached the gospel. 00:27:38.42\00:27:40.96 The gospel simply put is the good news or the good tidings. 00:27:41.16\00:27:45.83 It's the story of what God has done through Jesus 00:27:46.03\00:27:49.46 to reconcile the lost to Himself... 00:27:49.66\00:27:52.47 what God has done to save undeserving, 00:27:52.87\00:27:57.27 sinful, alienated human beings 00:27:57.57\00:28:00.74 who didn't even know they needed or wanted to be saved. 00:28:00.94\00:28:03.75 It's what God has done to take our sins 00:28:04.25\00:28:08.62 and give us His righteousness. 00:28:08.82\00:28:11.49 And don't ever make the mistake of saying: 00:28:11.69\00:28:14.69 "Oh the pastor at our church, all he ever does 00:28:14.89\00:28:16.62 all he ever does is preach about the gospel. 00:28:16.83\00:28:18.79 He never gets into the 'real' stuff. " 00:28:18.99\00:28:20.33 I hear people say that. 00:28:20.50\00:28:22.73 The gospel IS the real stuff. 00:28:23.67\00:28:25.17 Amen! Now I understand what you mean. 00:28:25.37\00:28:27.24 You don't want to hear every time you go to church 00:28:27.44\00:28:30.24 "God loves you; repent of your sins. " 00:28:30.44\00:28:31.77 "God loves you. " You want to hear more than that. 00:28:31.87\00:28:33.54 I understand that 'cause so do I. 00:28:33.74\00:28:35.18 I understand that. You want to be reminded 00:28:35.38\00:28:37.68 about the times in which we live. 00:28:37.88\00:28:39.31 You want to be reminded; you want to be challenged. 00:28:39.51\00:28:41.62 You want somebody to present the present truth. 00:28:41.82\00:28:44.52 Understood. You want to hear the pillars. 00:28:44.72\00:28:46.72 Amen! You ought to want to hear that! 00:28:46.92\00:28:49.12 But my brother, my sister: don't ever grow tired of 00:28:49.32\00:28:53.33 hearing the old old story 00:28:53.53\00:28:55.40 'cause it's the greatest story ever told. 00:28:55.60\00:28:57.57 It's the story of God's love for sinners. 00:28:57.77\00:29:00.74 It's the story of a God who so loved the world 00:29:00.94\00:29:03.61 He gave His only begotten Son 00:29:03.81\00:29:06.78 for a world that didn't care. 00:29:06.98\00:29:09.84 "While we were yet sinners Christ died for us" 00:29:10.05\00:29:14.28 and commended or demonstrated His love to us. 00:29:14.48\00:29:17.92 Amen! Jesus said: "This gospel of the kingdom 00:29:18.12\00:29:21.36 shall be preached in all the world for a witness 00:29:21.56\00:29:23.49 to all nations. " Now I'm not trying to set up 00:29:23.69\00:29:25.43 opposing sides here. I'm not trying to tell you 00:29:25.63\00:29:28.06 it's the story of Jesus and the cross 00:29:28.26\00:29:30.33 OR the story of Babylon and the beast 00:29:30.53\00:29:33.40 and the judgment and worshiping the Creator God. 00:29:33.60\00:29:35.60 Oh, no, no, no, no. 00:29:35.80\00:29:37.14 It's both and. 00:29:37.17\00:29:38.74 It's one AND the other. 00:29:38.94\00:29:40.41 It's put them together. 00:29:40.61\00:29:42.04 But for goodness' sake... put them together! 00:29:42.44\00:29:45.41 Amen! Because if you've got a gospel 00:29:45.61\00:29:48.58 that just talks about beasts and antichrist 00:29:48.78\00:29:51.79 and horns and days that mean years 00:29:51.99\00:29:54.52 man, oh, man... you are going to just upset people. 00:29:54.72\00:29:58.29 Because the message that's going to get people to heaven 00:29:59.29\00:30:02.06 is the message of Jesus. 00:30:02.26\00:30:04.63 It's the message of the righteousness of Jesus Christ. 00:30:04.83\00:30:07.64 And don't be thinking: "Oh, everybody in my town 00:30:07.84\00:30:10.91 knows Jesus and knows the gospel. " 00:30:11.11\00:30:12.67 No they don't! 00:30:12.87\00:30:14.21 And even if they do they need to hear it again! 00:30:14.81\00:30:17.81 Amen! And unless they know that you are a Christian 00:30:18.08\00:30:21.32 who is sold out to Jesus 00:30:21.52\00:30:22.92 why in the world would they want to hear about 00:30:23.12\00:30:24.72 your prophetic scenario? 00:30:24.92\00:30:26.25 Why would they even want it? 00:30:26.35\00:30:27.69 They shouldn't want it if they can't be certain 00:30:27.72\00:30:30.66 you are a Christian who lives and breathes 00:30:30.86\00:30:33.16 and loves Jesus who died on that old rugged cross. 00:30:33.36\00:30:37.97 Gospel... euangelion or evangelion. 00:30:38.37\00:30:41.64 It's derived from the word angelos 00:30:42.04\00:30:43.77 which means messenger. 00:30:43.97\00:30:45.31 The word gospel - the Greek word for gospel - 00:30:45.57\00:30:48.24 is where we get the word evangelist from. 00:30:48.44\00:30:51.65 Strictly speaking, if you want to look at a definition, 00:30:52.48\00:30:55.18 an evangelist is a bringer of good news. 00:30:55.38\00:30:59.85 In classical Greek an evangelist was one who 00:31:00.59\00:31:04.09 brought a message of victory or other political or personal 00:31:04.29\00:31:07.16 news that caused joy. 00:31:07.36\00:31:08.70 Let me slow that down. 00:31:08.73\00:31:10.07 An evangelist was a message who... 00:31:10.10\00:31:12.53 An evangelist was a messenger 00:31:12.93\00:31:15.44 who brought a message of victory 00:31:15.64\00:31:18.94 or of other political or personal news 00:31:19.14\00:31:21.68 that caused joy. Come on, now... 00:31:21.88\00:31:24.48 when you share your faith are you causing joy or angst? 00:31:24.68\00:31:27.88 Better be joy. 00:31:29.62\00:31:31.02 You don't want to go to your neighbor and say: 00:31:31.89\00:31:33.22 "Ah... you've got the wrong day, man! " 00:31:33.25\00:31:34.76 "You've got the wrong church leader. " 00:31:35.16\00:31:36.96 "Oh, you don't understand the way to interpret prophecy. " 00:31:37.16\00:31:39.46 No, no, no! You're going to be like smoke getting in somebody's 00:31:39.66\00:31:42.10 eyes. It ought to be like honey to their taste. 00:31:42.30\00:31:44.97 And if it isn't, try to make it as sweet as you can. 00:31:45.97\00:31:50.84 There will be a time to come along with the big guns. 00:31:51.04\00:31:55.04 There will be a time! 00:31:55.24\00:31:56.58 And there are odd times when that might be the right 00:31:56.85\00:31:59.55 first-off approach. Most of the time it ain't 00:31:59.75\00:32:02.22 because you've gotta convince someone if you are a Christian 00:32:03.22\00:32:05.89 you've gotta tell them what's MOST important. 00:32:06.09\00:32:08.79 And that most important is God is love. 00:32:08.99\00:32:13.29 Jesus died for you. 00:32:13.50\00:32:15.70 It is good news. 00:32:15.90\00:32:18.93 So that now became a technical term for the message of victory. 00:32:19.87\00:32:23.64 So if you are bringing the gospel message, 00:32:24.47\00:32:27.31 you are bringing a message of victory 00:32:27.51\00:32:31.05 and a message that causes joy. 00:32:31.25\00:32:33.72 And there's nothing that brings as much joy 00:32:33.92\00:32:35.98 as knowing that Jesus died for your sin. 00:32:36.18\00:32:39.49 I am promising you there are people here tonight 00:32:39.69\00:32:44.06 who desperately need to hear more than anything else 00:32:44.26\00:32:47.96 Jesus died for your sins. 00:32:48.16\00:32:50.63 God loves you. 00:32:50.83\00:32:52.47 You can confess your sins tonight 00:32:52.67\00:32:54.70 and know that God will give you a new heart 00:32:54.90\00:32:56.94 and you have hope in this world. 00:32:57.14\00:32:58.57 You can leave this place tonight... 00:32:58.77\00:33:00.78 In fact, right now you can reach out to God, 00:33:00.98\00:33:04.38 accept what He is offering you, 00:33:04.58\00:33:06.15 and have the assurance of salvation NOW! 00:33:06.35\00:33:10.75 NOW! Amen! Assurance! 00:33:10.95\00:33:13.29 And that's not license; that's not going easy on somebody. 00:33:13.69\00:33:17.63 That's lighting somebody up with the hope that Jesus gives to us. 00:33:17.83\00:33:22.06 That's setting somebody's feet on the pathway that leads 00:33:22.26\00:33:25.13 that person to heaven. 00:33:25.33\00:33:26.67 Victory... good news. How good is the good news? 00:33:26.74\00:33:29.87 We had friends contact us: "Pray for our son. He's 15. " 00:33:30.27\00:33:32.54 "Oh, he's a good boy; I know that boy. 00:33:32.74\00:33:34.18 He's been with us on It Is Written mission trips. " 00:33:34.38\00:33:36.38 "Pray for him. " "Why? " "He has cancer. " 00:33:37.25\00:33:39.71 You don't want to hear that your 15-year-old kid has cancer. 00:33:41.92\00:33:44.59 You don't want to hear anybody has cancer. 00:33:45.19\00:33:46.79 Fifteen years old... these are healthy people. 00:33:47.19\00:33:49.66 I mean, how could this even happen? 00:33:50.06\00:33:51.89 They had the tests done: cancer. 00:33:52.09\00:33:54.10 "Whoa, what do we do now? " 00:33:54.30\00:33:55.63 "We've got to go to the doctor and talk about treatment. " 00:33:55.66\00:33:57.30 "Well... we've got to pray first. " 00:33:57.50\00:33:58.93 And they sent the message out: "Pray... pray for our... " 00:33:59.33\00:34:02.04 We prayed! Man, we prayed all right. 00:34:02.24\00:34:03.64 People prayed. I'm sure there were people all around the world 00:34:03.84\00:34:05.47 praying for this boy. 00:34:05.67\00:34:07.01 And so they take him to the doctor. 00:34:07.41\00:34:08.88 "Doc, what are we going to do? " 00:34:09.08\00:34:10.68 "Help us to understand what you recommend would be 00:34:10.88\00:34:12.65 the best course of treatment. We need to start 00:34:12.85\00:34:14.18 weighing up our options. " 00:34:14.35\00:34:15.68 And the doctor said: "Allow me to do some tests. " 00:34:15.72\00:34:17.19 And when the doctor got back to the family he said: "Listen, 00:34:17.39\00:34:19.52 we need to do some more tests. " 00:34:19.72\00:34:21.06 "Oh, man, we had tests, tests, and more tests 00:34:21.09\00:34:23.12 and now it's time for even more tests. " 00:34:23.32\00:34:24.66 He said: "No, no... you're going to like these tests. " 00:34:24.76\00:34:26.19 And he did some more tests and the doctor said: 00:34:26.59\00:34:28.46 "I have looked and I've looked again. 00:34:28.66\00:34:30.77 When we first looked your son had cancer. 00:34:30.97\00:34:33.10 We've looked again: we cannot find cancer! " 00:34:33.30\00:34:36.44 "It's GONE! " Amen! 00:34:36.64\00:34:38.77 Now I know what you're thinking. I know what you're thinking. 00:34:38.97\00:34:41.38 You are thinking the boy never had cancer in the first place. 00:34:41.58\00:34:43.51 Even if that's true I'm saying "Praise the Lord! " 00:34:43.91\00:34:45.91 Amen! But they were convinced he had it 00:34:46.11\00:34:48.78 and then they were convinced he didn't have it. 00:34:48.98\00:34:51.29 He didn't have it 'cause God took it away! 00:34:51.89\00:34:55.76 Amen! It's what God does in answer to prayer at times. 00:34:55.96\00:34:59.49 Is that good news? Amen! 00:34:59.89\00:35:01.80 The gospel is better news. 00:35:02.00\00:35:03.37 The gospel is BETTER news. 00:35:04.07\00:35:06.74 We celebrate better news. 00:35:06.94\00:35:10.51 It's profoundly good news. 00:35:10.71\00:35:13.34 It's great news! 00:35:13.54\00:35:14.94 It ought to cause us to worship God 00:35:15.14\00:35:16.85 and have a lifestyle of worshiping God. 00:35:17.05\00:35:18.45 By the way this is a hobby horse now. 00:35:18.65\00:35:20.18 This is a little hobby horse. 00:35:20.38\00:35:21.72 You know it's very interesting. You go to some church services 00:35:21.88\00:35:24.09 and you have prayer and maybe you have an offering 00:35:24.29\00:35:26.52 and maybe a children's story... 00:35:26.72\00:35:28.06 And then they say: "Hey, let's bring out the musicians 00:35:28.32\00:35:30.56 because now we're going to worship God. " 00:35:30.76\00:35:32.79 Yes, the man with less red hair than he used to have: 00:35:37.03\00:35:40.50 go ahead... go ahead. Me? Yes, you. 00:35:40.70\00:35:43.20 "Are we about to worship God now? " "Yes, it's time 00:35:43.41\00:35:45.67 for praise and worship. " What have we been doing 00:35:45.87\00:35:48.08 up until now? 00:35:48.28\00:35:49.61 Have we not been worshiping God? 00:35:49.94\00:35:51.88 Uh... isn't that interesting? 00:35:52.65\00:35:55.38 When worship begins... If worship begins 00:35:55.58\00:35:58.79 when the band comes out, then you're doin' it wrong. 00:35:58.99\00:36:01.69 That's right! 00:36:01.89\00:36:03.22 You're doin' it wrong! 00:36:03.26\00:36:04.59 You could say worship begins when your eyes open 00:36:04.76\00:36:07.96 in the morning, but when it comes to church 00:36:08.16\00:36:09.90 worship begins when you walk in the door. 00:36:10.10\00:36:11.43 Yeah. No matter if the band is playing or not. 00:36:11.63\00:36:13.94 No matter who's at the piano. 00:36:14.14\00:36:15.47 Worship begins when you walk in the door! 00:36:15.50\00:36:16.91 And when you know that Jesus has died for you, 00:36:17.77\00:36:20.31 set you free, worship comes easy. 00:36:20.51\00:36:23.35 It's good news. 00:36:23.55\00:36:24.88 The Bible is built on the idea of good news. 00:36:24.91\00:36:28.52 The word gospel appears in the Bible about 100 times. 00:36:28.72\00:36:31.52 Why is it such good news? 00:36:31.72\00:36:33.22 Paul wrote about the gospel in every book... 00:36:33.42\00:36:35.99 explicitly about the gospel... 00:36:36.19\00:36:37.76 in every book that he wrote with the exception of Titus. 00:36:37.96\00:36:40.16 But if you read the book of Titus you find the message 00:36:40.36\00:36:42.96 of the gospel all the way through the book of Titus. 00:36:43.16\00:36:45.23 The New Testament is founded on the idea 00:36:45.43\00:36:48.74 of actual good news. The Old Testament is founded 00:36:48.97\00:36:51.84 on the idea of the promise of Jesus 00:36:52.04\00:36:55.18 who was going to come and make that good news a reality. 00:36:55.38\00:36:57.45 The Bible is all about good news. 00:36:58.01\00:36:59.95 I would like to take a moment with you 00:37:00.15\00:37:02.18 because you're going to hear all about the everlasting gospel 00:37:02.38\00:37:04.49 over the next "x" presentations. 00:37:04.69\00:37:06.72 So let's look at a passage that spells out for us 00:37:07.02\00:37:11.13 exactly what the gospel is. 00:37:11.33\00:37:13.90 We are going to I Corinthians chapter 15. 00:37:14.10\00:37:16.06 We're going to pick it up in about verse 1. 00:37:16.46\00:37:19.00 I Corinthians chapter 15 00:37:19.20\00:37:21.30 and we'll start in verse 1. 00:37:22.40\00:37:24.97 I Corinthians 15 verse 1: "Moreover brethren, 00:37:25.17\00:37:29.88 I declare unto you the gospel which I preached 00:37:30.88\00:37:34.22 unto you which also ye have received 00:37:34.42\00:37:37.25 and wherein ye stand. " 00:37:37.45\00:37:38.79 So here it is: the gospel. 00:37:38.92\00:37:41.22 He says in verse 2: "By which also ye are saved 00:37:41.62\00:37:45.53 if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you 00:37:45.73\00:37:48.13 unless you have believed in vain. " 00:37:48.33\00:37:50.23 One of the problems we have 00:37:50.43\00:37:52.60 that we don't get up for the gospel when we should 00:37:52.80\00:37:55.37 one it might be that the person sharing the gospel 00:37:55.57\00:37:58.87 message shares it like it's bad news. 00:37:59.07\00:38:01.41 It might be that. 00:38:01.81\00:38:03.14 But the other thing is maybe we've forgotten what it's like 00:38:03.65\00:38:06.15 to be lost. If you've ever been lost, 00:38:06.35\00:38:09.88 then you can be really happy that you're saved. Amen! 00:38:10.29\00:38:13.99 I did not become a Bible-believing Christian 00:38:14.19\00:38:16.32 until I was 23 years old. 00:38:16.52\00:38:18.13 I knew what it was to be lost! 00:38:18.79\00:38:22.50 I knew what it was to be searching desperately 00:38:22.70\00:38:26.23 for the Bible. I knew what it was like 00:38:26.43\00:38:28.40 to be marinating in sin. 00:38:28.60\00:38:30.97 I understood that. 00:38:31.17\00:38:32.51 And so when my eyes were opened and I came in out of the dark 00:38:32.61\00:38:36.04 and into God's marvelous light 00:38:36.24\00:38:38.25 I was thrilled. I still am! Amen! 00:38:38.45\00:38:43.05 I was going to hell... 00:38:43.35\00:38:46.15 now I'm going to heaven. Amen! 00:38:46.35\00:38:49.52 By the way, I've been to hell. 00:38:49.72\00:38:51.63 I've been to hell and back. Some of you all have, too. 00:38:51.83\00:38:53.50 This past weekend my wife and I 00:38:54.53\00:38:56.67 we went to hell together. 00:38:56.87\00:38:58.20 It's quite the experience. 00:38:59.40\00:39:00.87 You know what I'm about to say, don't you? 00:39:01.74\00:39:03.37 You know on the island of Grand Cayman... I was down 00:39:04.34\00:39:06.17 in the Cayman Islands for some evangelism 00:39:06.37\00:39:07.71 and evangelism training. And on Grand Cayman 00:39:07.84\00:39:09.94 there's a little part of Grand Cayman called Hell. 00:39:10.15\00:39:12.31 Someone looked at the landscape. It's all rocky and awful 00:39:13.52\00:39:15.82 and said: "This is what hell would be like. " 00:39:16.02\00:39:17.35 And so they named it Hell, and you can go to the 00:39:17.55\00:39:19.19 Hell Post Office on Cayman Island. 00:39:19.39\00:39:21.72 I was there on Sunday. 00:39:22.82\00:39:24.23 I've been to Hell and back! 00:39:24.63\00:39:25.96 Yeah, I mean literally if you like. I think literally. 00:39:29.23\00:39:32.30 I know what it's like to be looking into the future 00:39:33.90\00:39:37.41 and seeing flames. 00:39:37.61\00:39:39.67 I know what that's like. 00:39:40.28\00:39:41.61 And now I know what it's like to turn away from that 00:39:42.24\00:39:45.21 and look into the future and see Jesus. 00:39:45.41\00:39:47.75 Amen! I'm excited by that. 00:39:47.95\00:39:50.22 And when I dig deep into the book of Revelation 00:39:50.72\00:39:52.85 you know what it helps me to see? 00:39:53.05\00:39:54.49 It helps me to see Jesus more clearly. 00:39:54.69\00:39:56.39 If you want to dig into Revelation chapter 13 00:39:56.59\00:39:58.93 and talk about the beast that rises up out of the sea 00:39:59.13\00:40:00.90 I'm saying: "I see Jesus more clearly 00:40:01.10\00:40:02.56 because I've seen that. " 00:40:02.76\00:40:04.10 And if you want to talk about Revelation chapter 13 00:40:04.20\00:40:06.03 and the second beast that comes up I'm saying: "Hallelujah! 00:40:06.23\00:40:08.34 I'm seeing Jesus more clearly because I'm reading 00:40:08.54\00:40:12.47 here in the book of Revelation. " 00:40:12.67\00:40:14.01 So let's not lose focus. 00:40:14.24\00:40:16.04 Let's not lose a clear view of the beauty of the gospel. 00:40:16.24\00:40:21.28 We are saved by this Paul says. 00:40:22.12\00:40:24.89 This is vital. We are looking in verse 3 now. 00:40:25.09\00:40:27.66 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also 00:40:28.66\00:40:32.79 received: how that Christ died for our sins 00:40:32.99\00:40:37.27 according to the scriptures. " 00:40:37.47\00:40:38.80 Your sin will drag you with it into the lake of fire. 00:40:38.93\00:40:42.00 But Jesus says: "No, no... I will save you from that. " 00:40:42.40\00:40:46.07 I told this story before. There was a young man. 00:40:46.27\00:40:48.21 He was in the military in the United States 00:40:48.41\00:40:50.25 during the second world war and he was flying in an aircraft. 00:40:50.45\00:40:53.28 And they were flying over I believe it was Idaho. 00:40:53.48\00:40:56.12 I've spoken to this man. He was a wonderful man. 00:40:56.52\00:40:59.05 Died just a few years ago. 00:40:59.25\00:41:00.59 And suddenly the plane in which he was flying 00:41:01.79\00:41:04.13 hit a bump - turbulence of some kind - 00:41:04.33\00:41:07.93 and it was so severe it threw him... thump, 00:41:08.13\00:41:10.27 against the door of the plane. 00:41:10.57\00:41:12.20 He was sitting right up next to the door. 00:41:12.40\00:41:13.74 The door flew open and he went out. 00:41:14.04\00:41:17.17 Out. Swooh... 00:41:17.97\00:41:20.01 Except umm... got stuck... because the lace on his boots 00:41:20.21\00:41:24.68 somehow got anchored on something inside the cockpit. 00:41:24.88\00:41:27.95 This is not a joke... it's a true story. 00:41:28.35\00:41:30.02 I said to him one day... I called him about something 00:41:30.22\00:41:32.22 and the I said: "Listen, I hope you don't mind me 00:41:33.46\00:41:35.22 asking this but is that story true? " 00:41:35.42\00:41:37.79 And he just chuckled. He said: "Yep, it is. " 00:41:38.19\00:41:40.93 "Would you tell me that story? " 00:41:41.13\00:41:42.46 And there he was... 20,000 feet above 00:41:42.93\00:41:45.27 I believe it was Idaho looking down at the earth 00:41:45.47\00:41:47.80 hanging by a shoelace... a bootlace. 00:41:48.20\00:41:51.81 And he said to God: "God, 00:41:53.34\00:41:56.28 if You get me out of this alive, 00:41:56.48\00:41:59.41 if You get me down to the earth in one piece, 00:41:59.61\00:42:02.45 I will serve You for the rest of my life. " 00:42:02.65\00:42:05.89 He prayed that prayer and then somehow 00:42:06.29\00:42:08.86 "thoomp... " he went up into the plane 00:42:09.06\00:42:11.79 back in the seat. The door slammed shut behind him! 00:42:11.99\00:42:15.56 Absolutely true! 00:42:18.33\00:42:20.14 And he got down to the ground 00:42:21.27\00:42:23.00 and he decided he was going to study for the ministry. 00:42:23.20\00:42:26.44 And he did! And he served God as a faithful 00:42:26.64\00:42:29.41 soul-winning minister for the rest of his life. 00:42:29.61\00:42:32.31 He's one of these pastors - and they're everywhere - 00:42:32.51\00:42:34.52 after retirement he just worked harder. 00:42:34.72\00:42:36.69 Twice as much work; not even half the pay. 00:42:36.89\00:42:39.15 You know, when God does something like that for you 00:42:41.32\00:42:43.66 don't you think it would affect you? 00:42:43.86\00:42:45.23 But He HAS done something like that for you. 00:42:47.20\00:42:49.00 Just like that. 00:42:49.20\00:42:50.53 You may not have been dangling at 20,000 feet 00:42:50.57\00:42:52.40 looking down at Idaho 00:42:52.60\00:42:53.94 but you were dangling between life and death 00:42:54.84\00:42:57.17 looking down at the lake of fire! 00:42:57.37\00:42:59.04 And when Jesus stepped into your life 00:42:59.24\00:43:01.34 He saved you and you didn't deserve it. 00:43:01.54\00:43:03.71 And you can't deserve it. 00:43:04.11\00:43:05.61 And you can't earn it. 00:43:05.81\00:43:07.32 And you can't warrant it and you can't bargain with God. 00:43:07.52\00:43:10.25 And you can't, you know, do a deal with God. 00:43:10.45\00:43:13.25 All you can do is accept it from God 00:43:13.46\00:43:15.86 by the grace of God 00:43:16.36\00:43:18.49 salvation to the glory of God. 00:43:18.69\00:43:22.56 And so we pick it up in verse 4: 00:43:23.10\00:43:24.83 "And that He was buried, that He rose again the third day 00:43:25.03\00:43:28.27 according to the scriptures. 00:43:28.47\00:43:29.80 After that He was seen of Cephas then the Twelve. 00:43:29.84\00:43:31.64 After that 500 at once of them the greater part remain 00:43:31.84\00:43:34.44 some are dead. After that He was seen of James 00:43:34.64\00:43:36.61 then the apostles and last of all He was seen of me also 00:43:36.81\00:43:39.95 as one born out of due time. 00:43:41.02\00:43:42.82 For I am the least of the apostles 00:43:43.02\00:43:44.55 and am not meet to be called an apostle because 00:43:44.75\00:43:46.62 I persecuted the church of God. " 00:43:46.82\00:43:48.42 That's true, you are not worthy of being called an apostle. 00:43:48.62\00:43:51.03 "But by the grace of God I am what I am. 00:43:51.96\00:43:55.86 And this grace which was be- stowed upon me was not in vain. 00:43:56.06\00:43:59.23 But I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I 00:43:59.43\00:44:02.00 but the grace of God which was in me. 00:44:02.20\00:44:03.67 Therefore whether I or they so we preached 00:44:03.87\00:44:07.78 and so ye believe. " And you are not going to find 00:44:07.98\00:44:10.58 a more succinct, clear definition of the gospel 00:44:10.78\00:44:14.88 in all of the Bible I don't think. 00:44:15.08\00:44:16.82 You see, it's phenomenal. Listen! 00:44:17.02\00:44:19.42 Jesus died for our sins. 00:44:19.62\00:44:21.99 Why is it? Ask a... meet a Baptist. 00:44:23.12\00:44:27.20 Baptist is going to say what? 00:44:27.40\00:44:30.07 "Are you? " Saved. 00:44:30.27\00:44:32.97 Someone bumps into you on the street... 00:44:35.04\00:44:36.37 what are you going to say? "Hey, you know what the mark 00:44:36.50\00:44:38.27 of the beast is? " 00:44:38.47\00:44:39.97 "You worship on the right day, bro? " 00:44:41.54\00:44:43.38 "Let me tell you about that Pope. " 00:44:44.28\00:44:46.48 Why is it that the people with the most light 00:44:47.35\00:44:51.65 are most unlikely to start with the good news? 00:44:52.15\00:44:56.52 How about we start a revolution? 00:44:58.39\00:45:00.56 Amen! Turn that around. 00:45:00.76\00:45:02.40 I know I speak generally... I know that. 00:45:02.60\00:45:05.87 But you know that generally what I say is accurate. 00:45:06.37\00:45:10.77 Why is it that our first contact 00:45:12.37\00:45:16.14 our first impression is to find the sharpest, 00:45:16.34\00:45:19.61 hardest-hitting tract and give it to everybody. 00:45:19.81\00:45:22.78 I remember walking down the main street of the capital city 00:45:23.52\00:45:25.69 of New Zealand. I was walking minding my own business. 00:45:25.89\00:45:28.22 Walking on Lambton Quay in Wellington. 00:45:28.42\00:45:30.33 And there was a man standing out there 00:45:30.53\00:45:31.86 and he was standing with his arm out with tracts. 00:45:31.96\00:45:34.10 Just standing like that. 00:45:34.83\00:45:36.33 As people went by he would just hold it out 00:45:37.00\00:45:39.13 and they'd take it or they wouldn't. 00:45:39.33\00:45:40.67 And so I walked by and I said: "I've got nothing 00:45:40.74\00:45:42.57 to lose. I'll look at it. " 00:45:42.77\00:45:44.24 I took it. "Thank you, man, thank you for that. " 00:45:44.44\00:45:46.51 I walked on. What is this? I didn't even understand it. 00:45:46.71\00:45:48.88 It's not English. Vicarius Filii Dei. 00:45:49.08\00:45:54.52 All right. Ahh, it's Roman numerals. 00:45:54.72\00:45:57.75 And so you do the math and the little tract 00:45:58.52\00:46:02.22 did the math for you... 00:46:02.42\00:46:03.76 you got Vicarius and then Filii 00:46:03.79\00:46:07.83 and then Dei which adds up to 501 00:46:08.03\00:46:09.86 and you put it all together and guess what it comes to? 00:46:10.07\00:46:12.27 Six hundred and sixty-six. 00:46:12.47\00:46:14.20 And the brother who handed it out 00:46:14.40\00:46:16.07 was gracious enough to put right on the tract 00:46:16.27\00:46:18.11 who that was talking about. 00:46:18.31\00:46:19.64 Sunday before I'd been to mass and received holy communion. 00:46:22.44\00:46:25.58 I'm minding my own business walking down the street 00:46:27.45\00:46:29.55 and this guy "Boom! " punches me right in the 00:46:29.75\00:46:34.32 spiritual face. Said nothing about Jesus. 00:46:34.52\00:46:38.63 Just handed me a tract designed to enlighten me. 00:46:38.83\00:46:43.26 I stood on the street; I stopped. 00:46:43.87\00:46:45.73 What am I going to do about this? 00:46:47.97\00:46:49.70 I considered my options. 00:46:49.90\00:46:51.61 I said: "I should go back and punch him right in the face. 00:46:52.51\00:46:54.58 That's what I think I'll do. " And then I thought: 00:46:56.28\00:46:59.11 "It's the main street of the capital city. 00:47:00.72\00:47:02.42 I could get arrested! " So I didn't punch him 00:47:02.82\00:47:06.86 just so I wouldn't get arrested. 00:47:07.06\00:47:09.26 That's the only reason. I thought: "OK... 00:47:09.66\00:47:11.83 that's what a ruffian would do. 00:47:12.03\00:47:14.13 I wouldn't want to be seen to be a ruffian. 00:47:14.33\00:47:16.60 I wouldn't mind being one... I just don't want to be seen 00:47:16.80\00:47:18.90 to be one. So I shall go back... 00:47:19.10\00:47:22.00 I shall go back and I shall castigate him. 00:47:22.20\00:47:25.27 I shall excoriate him. " 00:47:25.47\00:47:26.94 I'll say: "Who do you think you are, man, 00:47:27.14\00:47:29.94 handing this stuff out? What in the? " That's what I would do. 00:47:30.15\00:47:33.72 So I said: "Really? I have to go back; I have to walk 00:47:34.12\00:47:39.22 25, 30 meters to go back and really? " 00:47:39.42\00:47:43.09 I looked over and there was a rubbish bin, 00:47:43.29\00:47:48.10 trash can, right... right there. 00:47:48.30\00:47:51.53 And so I said: "I know what to do. Drop it. " 00:47:51.73\00:47:55.80 Now, now... years later 00:47:56.91\00:48:00.11 God would use that experience to cause me to say: 00:48:00.31\00:48:03.55 "I've seen that before. " 00:48:03.75\00:48:05.41 So it wasn't all negative. 00:48:05.81\00:48:07.85 But I will say this: this brother from a certain 00:48:08.72\00:48:11.82 denomination that you may or may not recognize - 00:48:12.02\00:48:14.49 not one that you are connected with - 00:48:14.89\00:48:17.33 he was doing his missionary work and telling me about Jesus. 00:48:17.53\00:48:22.70 No, no, no... he wasn't doing his missionary work 00:48:23.83\00:48:25.60 and telling me about Jesus. He was doing his missionary work 00:48:25.80\00:48:28.24 and telling me how wrong I was 00:48:28.44\00:48:30.37 and how my spiritual leader was the devil and not a good guy. 00:48:30.57\00:48:34.64 It didn't matter how much of that was true. 00:48:35.44\00:48:37.25 What mattered was that wasn't the gospel. 00:48:37.65\00:48:40.28 Now... is there a time for sharing that? 00:48:40.68\00:48:43.28 Yes there is. 00:48:43.69\00:48:45.02 Might God ever impress you to share that with somebody 00:48:45.05\00:48:48.32 at a time that others of us might thing: "Oh, that's an odd 00:48:48.52\00:48:50.89 time! " Yes, because the Spirit moves in ways that we don't. 00:48:51.09\00:48:53.86 I don't mean to give you that as a great escape hatch. 00:48:54.66\00:48:57.43 I've had people tell me: "We did this very offensive 00:48:57.63\00:49:01.10 outreach in our community against the wishes of our church 00:49:01.30\00:49:04.34 because God told us to. " 00:49:04.54\00:49:06.31 I said: "Man that was not God. " "Oh! It was God! " 00:49:08.38\00:49:11.05 What are you going to tell a person like that? 00:49:11.25\00:49:12.68 The gospel is really good news. 00:49:14.32\00:49:17.39 And you can't go wrong when you introduce somebody 00:49:18.39\00:49:21.72 to Jesus and take it from there. 00:49:21.92\00:49:24.26 Take it all the way, perhaps, to Vicarius Filii Dei. 00:49:24.46\00:49:27.90 But when you taught your kid the alphabet you didn't start 00:49:28.30\00:49:30.63 with Q. Q... G... 00:49:30.83\00:49:36.47 Zed... Z... Zed... Z. 00:49:36.87\00:49:39.47 B... H... What in the world? 00:49:40.41\00:49:43.65 Poor child is going to be confused. 00:49:43.85\00:49:45.45 You started at the beginning. 00:49:45.65\00:49:47.28 In the alphabet Zed - pardon me - 00:49:47.48\00:49:50.55 Zed is as important as A. Is that not right? 00:49:50.75\00:49:55.26 Sure! It's just as important. 00:49:55.46\00:49:56.99 But you start with A and then you work down to Zed... 00:49:57.19\00:50:02.73 not the other way around. 00:50:03.13\00:50:04.57 The gospel... we can celebrate the gospel. 00:50:05.37\00:50:09.84 Jesus died for our sins. 00:50:10.04\00:50:12.17 He was placed in a tomb a dead man. 00:50:12.37\00:50:15.08 Buried... but I want to tell you something: 00:50:15.28\00:50:17.25 the grave couldn't hold Him. 00:50:17.45\00:50:18.78 How's that possible? 00:50:18.88\00:50:20.35 It's possible because He was pure, perfect, sinless. 00:50:20.55\00:50:24.15 He was the divine Son of God 00:50:24.45\00:50:26.25 and He came up from that grave, out of that tomb, 00:50:26.45\00:50:30.03 so that He could confer on any who have faith in Him 00:50:30.23\00:50:34.10 everlasting life. Man, it's good news! 00:50:34.30\00:50:36.90 Man, it's good news! We were stuck; we were lost. 00:50:37.10\00:50:39.93 We were heading to hell. Jesus: "Unh-uh... 00:50:40.14\00:50:42.27 I'll go. You stay here; You be safe. 00:50:42.47\00:50:44.87 I'll take the hit. " "Why would You do that? " 00:50:45.07\00:50:47.18 "Because I love you. " 00:50:47.38\00:50:48.71 "Oh, I thought I understood a lot 00:50:48.74\00:50:50.08 but I guess I don't. " "That's all right, you'll learn. 00:50:50.11\00:50:51.75 I love you... just accept it. " 00:50:51.95\00:50:53.68 And we accept the gospel. It is good news. 00:50:54.08\00:50:57.25 God said: "Don't eat the fruit... 00:50:57.45\00:50:58.99 don't eat the fruit. " They at the fruit. 00:50:59.19\00:51:01.52 If you were God, you would have said: "That's it! 00:51:01.72\00:51:03.39 I'm done with this world. I'll go create me another one. 00:51:03.59\00:51:05.86 I'll keep creating Me worlds until these folks get it 00:51:06.06\00:51:08.80 straight. " God wouldn't do that. 00:51:09.00\00:51:10.77 He understood the great controversy obviously 00:51:10.97\00:51:13.40 and that's a very important aspect of this. 00:51:13.60\00:51:15.50 But God would demonstrate to the human family 00:51:15.70\00:51:17.74 that He is love - LOVE - and love acts a certain way. 00:51:17.94\00:51:22.28 Love gives; love sacrifices. 00:51:22.48\00:51:24.21 God is love, and we are to look at God 00:51:24.41\00:51:26.18 and say: "I want Him to be my God. " 00:51:26.38\00:51:27.85 "I want Him to be my God 00:51:28.05\00:51:29.55 not simply because He helps me understand the ins 00:51:29.75\00:51:33.99 and outs of the prophecies of the book of Revelation 00:51:34.19\00:51:36.76 but because He saved me from my sins 00:51:36.96\00:51:40.13 and He set my feet upon a Rock. 00:51:40.33\00:51:42.76 And irrespective of what happens to me tonight 00:51:42.96\00:51:45.83 I am going to heaven. I have everlasting life. 00:51:46.03\00:51:50.24 I have joy in my heart because I have faith in Jesus. 00:51:50.44\00:51:54.11 I'm holding onto His hand. I looked at His hand. 00:51:54.31\00:51:56.24 "Whoa, a nail scar there... that was for me. " 00:51:56.44\00:51:59.11 Our names are engraved on the palms of His hands. 00:51:59.31\00:52:02.32 This is good news, man! The gospel! Amen! 00:52:02.52\00:52:05.32 And if you can get excited about the antichrist 00:52:05.52\00:52:07.56 more than you can get excited about Jesus Christ 00:52:07.76\00:52:09.89 then you've got some work to do. 00:52:10.09\00:52:12.09 You just do! 00:52:13.70\00:52:15.03 In fact, God has work to do. 00:52:15.16\00:52:17.10 And it's time you quit preventing Him from doing it 00:52:17.30\00:52:20.24 and you let Him do it and you let Him turn you into 00:52:20.44\00:52:23.57 a Christian with a beating Christian heart. 00:52:23.77\00:52:26.91 You know something, friend? We don't see it, 00:52:27.11\00:52:29.24 but we are broken 00:52:29.44\00:52:31.25 and God makes us whole. 00:52:31.65\00:52:33.72 I've left myself no time 00:52:34.12\00:52:36.32 to cover the most important part of this message 00:52:36.52\00:52:38.85 so let's go like there's no tomorrow. 00:52:39.25\00:52:41.42 I Peter chapter 2... there is more! 00:52:41.82\00:52:45.59 And we'll start in verse... I believe it's verse 22. 00:52:45.79\00:52:48.33 "Jesus committed no sin nor was deceit found in His mouth. 00:52:48.53\00:52:52.40 Jesus was holy, perfect, undefiled. 00:52:52.60\00:52:54.80 Who when He was reviled reviled not again. 00:52:55.00\00:52:57.84 When He suffered He threatened not 00:52:58.04\00:52:59.74 but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously. " 00:52:59.94\00:53:02.84 Jesus lived an entirely perfect life 00:53:03.04\00:53:04.91 like Adam and Eve should have and could have lived 00:53:05.11\00:53:06.92 but they did not. 00:53:07.12\00:53:08.45 "Who Himself bore our sins in His own body 00:53:08.48\00:53:10.45 on the tree that we... " Ooh, here we go... 00:53:10.65\00:53:12.69 Now this is the gospel as well. 00:53:12.89\00:53:14.59 "Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree 00:53:17.76\00:53:22.63 that we - having died to sin - 00:53:22.83\00:53:26.17 might live for righteousness 00:53:26.37\00:53:29.34 by whose stripes you were healed. " 00:53:29.54\00:53:33.07 Now follow this through... follow it through: 00:53:33.27\00:53:36.01 Jesus bore our sins on the cross. 00:53:36.41\00:53:38.58 Is that the gospel? Yes or no? 00:53:38.78\00:53:40.68 That's right. And then he said: 00:53:40.88\00:53:43.25 "by whose stripes you are healed. " 00:53:43.45\00:53:45.69 Is that the gospel? Yes or no? 00:53:45.89\00:53:47.46 Yes that's the gospel! 00:53:47.66\00:53:49.49 "that we - having died to sin - might live for righteousness. " 00:53:49.69\00:53:54.56 Is that the gospel? Yes! 00:53:54.76\00:53:56.10 Come on, now... let's have a complete picture here. 00:53:56.13\00:53:57.77 Jesus died for you. Hallelujah! 00:53:57.97\00:54:00.07 So that you might live for Him. Amen! 00:54:00.27\00:54:04.11 The gospel is not a gospel experience 00:54:05.17\00:54:07.04 if all you're doing is standing on the sidelines 00:54:07.24\00:54:09.61 cheering Jesus on: "Yea! Go Jesus! " 00:54:09.81\00:54:11.85 You're going to go to Facebook and like Jesus. 00:54:12.25\00:54:14.42 You're following Jesus on Twitter. 00:54:14.62\00:54:17.09 Is that all you're doing? Are you just a fan? 00:54:17.29\00:54:19.05 Or are you a disciple? 00:54:19.25\00:54:20.59 The gospel is what Jesus did for you 00:54:20.62\00:54:22.49 and - I don't believe you can separate it - 00:54:22.69\00:54:25.09 what Jesus does in you. 00:54:25.29\00:54:26.63 And so, friend, if we celebrate the gospel 00:54:27.40\00:54:29.26 we are not just celebrating this objective fact 00:54:29.46\00:54:31.83 Christ saved us but the objective fact... 00:54:32.03\00:54:35.14 the objective fact that Jesus LIVES in us. 00:54:35.34\00:54:38.81 He completes the work. He died on the cross 00:54:39.01\00:54:41.71 and then He lives His life in us to make us living 00:54:41.91\00:54:44.45 breathing Christians who are leaving this world one day. 00:54:44.65\00:54:48.45 We are not just filling pews. 00:54:48.65\00:54:51.09 We are not just filling churches... 00:54:51.29\00:54:53.09 we one day are gonna fill heaven 00:54:53.29\00:54:56.66 because Jesus died for us, rose for us, 00:54:56.86\00:55:00.63 ascended to heaven, and now through the Holy Spirit 00:55:00.83\00:55:04.00 lives His life in us. Amen! 00:55:04.20\00:55:08.34 Verse 25: "For you were like sheep going astray. " 00:55:08.74\00:55:11.54 This is Isaiah 53 again. 00:55:11.74\00:55:13.07 "But now you have returned to the Shepherd and the overseer 00:55:13.27\00:55:15.58 of your soul. " Man, it's good news! 00:55:15.78\00:55:17.95 It's good news! I was driving in here tonight. 00:55:18.15\00:55:20.02 I saw gasoline at $3.03 a gallon. 00:55:20.22\00:55:22.58 I'm like really really empty on gas. 00:55:24.45\00:55:26.86 I'm not even sure I can make it to a gas station. 00:55:27.06\00:55:28.86 I'll give it a shot... it's all right. 00:55:29.06\00:55:30.46 But if you were to tell me: "Oh, man, just drive that way 00:55:31.39\00:55:33.73 it's $2.85 or $2.90 I would say: "That is good news! " 00:55:33.93\00:55:37.00 And you would tell me and I'd tell somebody else. 00:55:37.40\00:55:39.90 This is better news... let's tell somebody! 00:55:40.10\00:55:41.80 Let's tell somebody! You find peanut butter on special 00:55:42.00\00:55:44.47 you're calling your neighbor. "Hey, you ought to go to Buy-Low 00:55:44.67\00:55:46.74 because it's on special. " 00:55:46.94\00:55:48.28 You ought to be telling... You ought to go to heaven... 00:55:49.41\00:55:51.51 "You ought to go to church 'cause heaven's on special 00:55:51.71\00:55:54.32 this week... they've got a great deal. " 00:55:54.48\00:55:56.22 We've been rescued! Everlasting gospel. 00:56:01.62\00:56:03.73 Sometimes we look at that and we can't see the forest 00:56:05.09\00:56:07.23 for the trees. We don't see Jesus 'cause 00:56:07.43\00:56:10.27 we're too busy looking at at days and dates and times 00:56:10.47\00:56:12.30 and years. I love them all! As an evangelist I preach it. 00:56:12.50\00:56:16.54 I believe it! 00:56:16.74\00:56:18.07 But the everlasting gospel is the everlasting gospel. 00:56:18.34\00:56:20.94 You remember Baby Jessica? Do you remember her? 00:56:21.14\00:56:22.98 Midland, Texas. She went down a well. 00:56:24.11\00:56:25.61 It was about this wide. 00:56:25.81\00:56:27.15 A baby... She went what? 23 feet, stuck. 00:56:27.18\00:56:29.48 "How in the world are we going to get her out? " 00:56:29.68\00:56:31.02 The whole world was spurred to action. 00:56:31.15\00:56:33.09 It was wall-to-wall news coverage. 00:56:33.86\00:56:35.39 Baby Jessica... got to get her out, got to get her out! 00:56:35.59\00:56:37.96 'Cause you've got to get a baby out. Babies die every day 00:56:38.99\00:56:41.03 and you don't know you don't care. You don't know. 00:56:41.23\00:56:42.83 But we knew about Baby Jessica. We knew her name. 00:56:43.23\00:56:45.30 We knew what happened. "You've gotta get her out! 00:56:45.50\00:56:46.84 She's in the well. Get her out! Get her out! " 00:56:46.87\00:56:48.84 Got her out. 00:56:50.21\00:56:51.54 You know today Baby Jessica - 00:56:51.81\00:56:53.74 Jessica Morales I think her name is - 00:56:54.34\00:56:56.78 lives about two miles away from that well. 00:56:56.98\00:56:59.05 They amputated a toe and she's got a little scar 00:57:00.22\00:57:03.05 on her forehead. That's all. 00:57:03.25\00:57:04.59 Every time she looks in the mirror and sees that scar 00:57:05.35\00:57:07.96 what does it tell her? 00:57:08.16\00:57:09.49 "Jessica, you were saved. " 00:57:09.52\00:57:10.86 "Jessica, you were lost and help came to you from above. " 00:57:11.23\00:57:16.50 Friend, the scars on Jesus' hands say the same thing 00:57:16.70\00:57:19.97 to you and tonight you can know 00:57:20.17\00:57:22.74 you've been saved... you are heading to heaven. 00:57:22.94\00:57:25.67 That's really good news. 00:57:26.07\00:57:27.98 That's the everlasting gospel. 00:57:28.18\00:57:31.51
