Well, good morning. 00:00:16.71\00:00:18.05 Another day. Day number three. 00:00:19.31\00:00:21.78 We're on a roll. 00:00:22.45\00:00:23.79 We've studied eight lessons so far. 00:00:24.75\00:00:27.79 And today we are going to get into a study 00:00:28.32\00:00:31.79 on the fifth trumpet. 00:00:31.83\00:00:33.46 And basically, the fifth trumpet is going to take all day. 00:00:34.10\00:00:37.80 There are many, many pages, and I think it will be a 00:00:38.53\00:00:41.44 blessing to understand the meaning of the fifth trumpet. 00:00:41.47\00:00:44.37 And then in the session tomorrow we'll probably dedicate 00:00:44.67\00:00:47.98 most of the day, if not all of the day, 00:00:48.01\00:00:50.55 to a study of the sixth trumpet. 00:00:50.78\00:00:52.98 So we want to begin with a word of prayer. 00:00:53.62\00:00:56.52 And so I invite you to bow your heads with me as we ask 00:00:57.05\00:00:59.75 the Lord to be with us today. 00:00:59.79\00:01:01.42 Father in heaven, we thank You for giving us life this day. 00:01:01.96\00:01:05.13 We thank You for bringing us together to study Your Word. 00:01:05.79\00:01:08.96 We ask that You will bless each session today. 00:01:09.53\00:01:12.87 That you will also bless all of those who are 00:01:13.44\00:01:15.37 watching the live stream. 00:01:15.40\00:01:17.01 Lord, we're living, we believe, in the last days. 00:01:17.77\00:01:21.78 And we need to understand prophecy so that we might 00:01:21.88\00:01:24.75 remain firm in the trials ahead. 00:01:24.78\00:01:27.48 So give us divine wisdom to understand. 00:01:27.78\00:01:30.62 We pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen. 00:01:30.95\00:01:35.42 We're going to begin on page 127 of our study notes. 00:01:37.93\00:01:41.96 The fifth trumpet. 00:01:43.20\00:01:44.53 This is chapter 6 of the study notes. 00:01:44.57\00:01:47.37 Now in order to understand the fifth trumpet, 00:01:47.94\00:01:50.71 it is helpful for us to review some elements 00:01:51.37\00:01:55.61 of what we studied in the fourth trumpet. 00:01:55.94\00:01:59.11 So we're going to take a look at the fourth trumpet, 00:01:59.78\00:02:05.75 as well as the first four churches 00:02:05.85\00:02:09.99 of the book of Revelation. 00:02:10.03\00:02:11.96 Now there's a foundational principle of interpretation 00:02:12.59\00:02:16.77 when we study the book of Revelation. 00:02:16.80\00:02:19.40 And that is, that the churches, the seals, and the trumpets 00:02:19.93\00:02:25.21 cover the same basic historic periods, 00:02:25.31\00:02:28.38 but from different perspectives. 00:02:28.98\00:02:30.95 Each series adds details that the other series doesn't have. 00:02:30.98\00:02:35.18 And the churches really are the skeleton 00:02:35.88\00:02:38.99 of the book of Revelation. 00:02:39.02\00:02:40.76 In other words, the churches are like Daniel 2 to Daniel. 00:02:41.12\00:02:47.40 Daniel is the foundational prophecy in all of the 00:02:47.43\00:02:50.87 additional prophecies in the book built on Daniel 2. 00:02:50.90\00:02:53.87 The seven churches are the foundational prophecies 00:02:54.50\00:02:57.14 that give you the structure of the entire book of Revelation. 00:02:57.17\00:03:00.88 And we're going to notice an example of that 00:03:01.41\00:03:03.91 as we study this morning. 00:03:03.95\00:03:06.45 Now let's go to the bottom of page 127 00:03:06.92\00:03:11.65 and review the first four churches. 00:03:12.05\00:03:15.42 The first church, seal, and trumpet describe 00:03:15.82\00:03:19.33 the apostolic church. 00:03:19.36\00:03:21.93 The second church, seal, and trumpet 00:03:22.50\00:03:25.30 describe the period when the Roman emperors 00:03:25.73\00:03:29.34 persecuted the church. 00:03:29.37\00:03:31.81 The third church, seal, and trumpet describe 00:03:32.37\00:03:36.91 the time when paganism penetrated the church 00:03:37.15\00:03:40.55 in the days of Constantine. 00:03:40.95\00:03:43.35 The fourth church, seal, and trumpet 00:03:43.99\00:03:46.72 describe the period when the apostate papal church 00:03:47.02\00:03:50.79 eclipse the Bible and the work of Christ 00:03:50.89\00:03:54.80 in the heavenly Sanctuary. 00:03:54.90\00:03:56.67 Now let's notice Ellen White's remark about the seven churches. 00:03:57.57\00:04:02.50 In, Acts of the Apostles, page 585, Ellen White wrote, 00:04:02.87\00:04:07.81 "The names of the seven churches are symbolic 00:04:08.71\00:04:11.91 of the church in different periods of the Christian Era. 00:04:12.35\00:04:16.69 The number 7 indicates completeness, 00:04:17.19\00:04:20.42 and is symbolic of the fact that the messages extend to..." When? 00:04:20.66\00:04:26.49 "...to the end of time, while the symbols used 00:04:26.80\00:04:30.70 reveal the condition of the church at different periods 00:04:30.73\00:04:34.70 in the history of the world." 00:04:34.74\00:04:36.30 So the seven churches represent seven periods. 00:04:36.81\00:04:41.01 That's why you have the number seven. 00:04:41.04\00:04:42.64 It's the totality of the history of the Christian church 00:04:42.68\00:04:45.95 in consecutive stages; beginning with Ephesus, 00:04:46.72\00:04:50.82 the apostolic church, and ending actually, 00:04:50.85\00:04:54.49 Revelation says Laodicea, but really the church is 00:04:55.32\00:04:58.09 going to return to the condition of Philadelphia. 00:04:58.13\00:05:00.16 I won't get into that right now. 00:05:00.20\00:05:01.76 Futurist expositors such as Hal Lindsey and Dave Hunt 00:05:02.50\00:05:08.50 who are not Seventh-day Adventists... 00:05:08.54\00:05:09.87 They believe in the rapture of the church 00:05:09.90\00:05:11.47 and all of this literal interpretation of prophecy 00:05:11.51\00:05:14.78 at the end of time. 00:05:14.81\00:05:16.14 They agree that the seven churches represent 00:05:16.18\00:05:19.45 seven periods of Christian history. 00:05:19.48\00:05:21.78 So this is not a unique Seventh-day Adventist view. 00:05:22.02\00:05:24.92 This is a view that is held also by non-Adventists. 00:05:25.15\00:05:30.06 Now what we want to do is take a look at the fourth church. 00:05:30.33\00:05:35.13 Because we're going to find that in the fourth church 00:05:35.66\00:05:38.47 we have a summary of the fourth, fifth, sixth, 00:05:38.83\00:05:43.81 and seventh trumpet. 00:05:44.11\00:05:46.21 So the paragraph just before the title in yellow here 00:05:46.57\00:05:52.75 on page 128 says, the central protagonist 00:05:52.78\00:05:57.52 of the fourth church is, whom? 00:05:57.55\00:05:59.55 Jezebel. 00:06:00.52\00:06:01.86 It is clear that Jezebel cannot be a literal person. 00:06:02.52\00:06:06.26 Because during the Dark Ages 00:06:07.46\00:06:09.46 literal Jezebel was already dead. 00:06:10.17\00:06:12.87 Doesn't take much intelligence to figure that out. 00:06:13.67\00:06:16.17 It is obvious that Old Testament Jezebel 00:06:16.71\00:06:19.47 did not live 1260 years. 00:06:19.51\00:06:22.78 Now the mention of Jezebel in the church of Thyatira, 00:06:23.45\00:06:27.78 the fourth church, makes it necessary to study what? 00:06:27.82\00:06:31.95 The Elijah story. 00:06:32.89\00:06:34.22 Because Jezebel is the central protagonist of the Elijah story. 00:06:34.26\00:06:38.29 Let us compare the Old Testament story 00:06:38.89\00:06:41.63 with the period of the fourth church, Thyatira. 00:06:41.93\00:06:45.17 Because there's a striking parallel between what happened 00:06:45.20\00:06:48.70 in the days of Elijah and what happened during the 00:06:48.74\00:06:51.47 church of Thyatira, the fourth church. 00:06:51.51\00:06:53.74 Here is the description of the fourth church 00:06:54.31\00:06:57.11 with my explanatory notes in brackets. 00:06:57.55\00:07:01.08 So what you have in brackets are my comments 00:07:01.12\00:07:04.19 about the message to the church of Thyatira. 00:07:04.22\00:07:07.09 We will notice that the fourth church actually summarizes 00:07:07.56\00:07:12.33 the central events of the fourth, fifth, sixth, 00:07:12.66\00:07:17.07 and I will add the seventh trumpet as well. 00:07:17.10\00:07:20.60 You say, "Well, how is that?" 00:07:20.80\00:07:22.30 Well, we're going to notice that the fourth church 00:07:23.37\00:07:26.14 describes the 1260 year persecution, 00:07:26.37\00:07:31.08 it describes the French Revolution, 00:07:31.28\00:07:34.08 it describes the period of judgment, 00:07:34.45\00:07:36.42 and it also describes the conclusion of the judgment 00:07:36.72\00:07:40.86 when Jesus takes over the kingdom. 00:07:40.89\00:07:42.86 You say, "Well, how is that? 00:07:43.73\00:07:45.13 All of that is in the fourth church?" 00:07:45.16\00:07:47.20 Yes. 00:07:47.50\00:07:48.83 Do you remember Daniel 7? 00:07:48.86\00:07:51.13 In Daniel 7 you have these four beasts: 00:07:51.53\00:07:55.64 you have a lion, you have a bear, you have a leopard, 00:07:55.67\00:07:58.67 you have a dragon beast. 00:07:58.71\00:08:00.04 The dragon beast sprouts ten horns. 00:08:00.08\00:08:01.94 Then a little horn comes up and rules for how long? 00:08:01.98\00:08:05.15 Time, times, and the dividing of time. 00:08:05.45\00:08:08.18 Now at the end of the time, times, diving of time 00:08:09.22\00:08:12.69 there's a judgment scene, right? 00:08:12.79\00:08:14.69 In other words, Jesus goes into the presence of the Father. 00:08:15.19\00:08:18.43 The Father sits, the judgment begins. 00:08:18.46\00:08:20.33 Jesus goes into the presence of the Father 00:08:20.36\00:08:22.43 to receive the kingdom. 00:08:22.46\00:08:23.97 What is the kingdom? 00:08:24.43\00:08:25.77 The kingdom are the people that have been proved 00:08:25.87\00:08:28.94 in the judgment to be followers, true followers of Jesus. 00:08:28.97\00:08:32.97 So are you with me? 00:08:33.38\00:08:34.71 Now we're going to see all of those elements 00:08:34.81\00:08:37.31 here in the church of Thyatira. 00:08:37.35\00:08:40.62 So let's go to the bottom of page 128 00:08:40.85\00:08:44.09 and take a look at the church of Thyatira 00:08:44.39\00:08:47.72 to see if we can find all of these stages. 00:08:47.76\00:08:49.59 The fourth trumpet, we said yesterday that the fourth 00:08:49.62\00:08:52.83 trumpet represents what? 00:08:52.86\00:08:54.46 The period of papal dominion during the 1260 years. 00:08:54.93\00:08:59.03 We're going to find the fourth trumpet, the fifth trumpet, 00:08:59.27\00:09:01.47 the sixth trumpet, and the seventh trumpet 00:09:01.50\00:09:03.37 summarized in the message to Thyatira. 00:09:03.41\00:09:06.34 So let's go to Revelation 2:20. 00:09:06.64\00:09:10.31 This is the church of Thyatira. 00:09:16.15\00:09:18.12 So who is at work in the church of Thyatira? 00:09:21.99\00:09:24.56 It is Jezebel. 00:09:24.96\00:09:26.46 Immediately that tells us, if you want to understand this 00:09:26.83\00:09:30.03 you have to go where? 00:09:30.07\00:09:31.40 You have to go back to the original story 00:09:31.97\00:09:34.50 where Jezebel is mentioned. 00:09:34.54\00:09:35.97 You have to go back to the Elijah story. 00:09:36.07\00:09:38.24 By the way, is Jezebel also symbolized by the beast 00:09:38.77\00:09:42.24 of Revelation 13 and the harlot of Revelation 17? 00:09:42.28\00:09:46.25 Is it the same power that ruled 1260 years? 00:09:46.85\00:09:50.35 Absolutely. 00:09:50.39\00:09:51.72 So let's continue. 00:09:51.75\00:09:53.09 "...you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself..." 00:09:53.12\00:09:56.02 And the New King James says, "sexual immorality," 00:10:00.33\00:10:02.80 but really it is fornication. 00:10:02.83\00:10:06.00 Let me ask you, whom did Jezebel fornicate with? 00:10:06.43\00:10:09.60 She fornicated with the king of Israel. 00:10:10.34\00:10:13.17 Did the papal church fornicate with the kings of the earth? 00:10:13.88\00:10:17.38 See, we're dealing with symbols here. 00:10:18.18\00:10:20.45 Jezebel is not literal, so the fornication must be what? 00:10:20.98\00:10:24.49 Must be symbolic with the kings of the earth. 00:10:24.52\00:10:27.92 So it says, "...who calls herself a prophetess..." 00:10:27.96\00:10:30.69 Fornication. 00:10:33.19\00:10:34.53 That's the union of church and state. 00:10:34.56\00:10:35.96 Did that happen during the 1260 years? 00:10:36.00\00:10:38.43 Absolutely. 00:10:38.53\00:10:39.87 Does that involve idolatry? 00:10:42.37\00:10:44.31 Was the church idolatrous during the 1260 years? 00:10:44.64\00:10:47.94 Absolutely. 00:10:47.98\00:10:49.31 How much time? 00:10:54.58\00:10:55.92 Time, times, and the dividing of time. 00:10:57.05\00:11:00.39 Are you with me or not? 00:11:00.42\00:11:01.76 Now let's continue. 00:11:02.09\00:11:03.43 Did she repent? 00:11:03.96\00:11:05.43 No. "...and she did not repent." 00:11:05.86\00:11:08.36 So what does God say? 00:11:08.50\00:11:09.83 Because she did not repent, something is going to happen. 00:11:09.86\00:11:12.30 "...sickbed..." 00:11:16.00\00:11:17.34 What does that refer to? 00:11:18.27\00:11:19.67 The deadly wound that was given to the papacy. 00:11:20.51\00:11:23.51 In other words, Revelation 13 tells us it's the deadly wound. 00:11:23.61\00:11:26.82 So we have to look at all of these things together. 00:11:27.42\00:11:29.28 The story of Elijah, we have to look at Revelation 13, 00:11:29.32\00:11:32.22 we have to look at Daniel 7. 00:11:32.25\00:11:33.69 Because they're all describing the same period of history. 00:11:33.79\00:11:37.19 So it says here, "Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, 00:11:37.43\00:11:41.90 and those who commit adultery with her..." 00:11:42.70\00:11:44.70 Who would those be? 00:11:44.73\00:11:46.07 The rulers, right? 00:11:46.63\00:11:47.97 So the harlot is going to be cast into a sickbed, 00:11:48.20\00:11:51.71 and also the rulers who fornicate with her 00:11:51.74\00:11:55.18 are also going to be cast into a sickbed. 00:11:55.21\00:11:58.25 And they're going to be cast into what? 00:11:58.45\00:12:00.82 "...great tribulation..." 00:12:01.05\00:12:02.82 What does the great tribulation here refer to? 00:12:03.15\00:12:05.75 It refers to the French Revolution. 00:12:06.49\00:12:09.12 Let me ask you, was the French Revolution a huge 00:12:09.89\00:12:12.73 upheaval against the harlot that sent her to her sickbed? 00:12:12.76\00:12:17.40 Was it also a traumatic event for those who were 00:12:17.83\00:12:22.24 ruling in France? 00:12:22.27\00:12:23.71 Absolutely. 00:12:23.74\00:12:25.07 So this is describing the French Revolution. 00:12:25.11\00:12:27.51 It says, "...unless they repent of their deeds. 00:12:27.54\00:12:29.71 And I will kill her children..." 00:12:29.81\00:12:31.35 Oh, the harlot has children. 00:12:31.38\00:12:33.38 Who are the children of the harlot? 00:12:34.42\00:12:36.38 Ah, the harlot is the mother. 00:12:37.95\00:12:40.39 So she must have what? 00:12:40.42\00:12:41.92 So she must have daughters. 00:12:42.16\00:12:44.26 What do the daughters represent? 00:12:44.39\00:12:46.33 They represent apostate what? 00:12:47.00\00:12:49.40 Apostate Protestantism. 00:12:49.66\00:12:51.60 So it says, "...I will kill her children with death, 00:12:52.03\00:12:55.10 and all the churches..." 00:12:55.54\00:12:57.21 See, now all of the churches, all of human history, 00:12:57.67\00:13:00.74 all of the history of the church is involved here. 00:13:00.78\00:13:02.94 What is that a description of? 00:13:09.95\00:13:11.49 The investigative judgment. Right? 00:13:13.09\00:13:15.79 Is that parallel to Daniel 7? 00:13:16.36\00:13:18.39 Immediately after speaking of the little horn 00:13:18.89\00:13:21.56 that ruled time, times, and the dividing of time, you have what? 00:13:21.60\00:13:25.37 The investigative judgment in heaven. 00:13:25.40\00:13:27.50 And here, immediately after speaking about Jezebel, 00:13:27.77\00:13:31.24 which is the same power that ruled during the 1260 years, 00:13:31.31\00:13:34.71 it says that God searches the minds and the hearts. 00:13:34.81\00:13:38.31 And what is he going to do? 00:13:38.51\00:13:39.88 He is going to what? 00:13:40.85\00:13:42.25 The judgment is going to determine the reward. 00:13:42.28\00:13:46.59 Right? 00:13:46.62\00:13:47.96 And so it says, "And I will give to each one 00:13:47.99\00:13:50.43 of you according to your..." What? 00:13:50.46\00:13:53.40 "...according to your works." 00:13:53.43\00:13:54.76 That is describing the time when Jesus comes 00:13:54.80\00:13:57.77 to take His people home. 00:13:57.80\00:13:59.33 The people that have been shown to be His followers 00:13:59.37\00:14:01.80 in the investigative judgment. 00:14:01.84\00:14:03.41 Are you with me or not? 00:14:03.44\00:14:04.77 So the church of Thyatira, by the way, describes 00:14:05.34\00:14:08.41 the fourth trumpet, which is the period of papal dominion, 00:14:08.44\00:14:12.08 it describes the fifth trumpet, the French Revolution. 00:14:12.78\00:14:16.18 It describes also the sixth trumpet, we're going to notice, 00:14:16.48\00:14:20.46 because she is going to have a resurrection. 00:14:20.49\00:14:24.13 And it describes also the seventh trumpet 00:14:24.39\00:14:27.00 when the judgment is over and Jesus takes over 00:14:27.20\00:14:30.93 the everlasting kingdom with the subjects of His kingdom 00:14:30.97\00:14:34.77 that have been determined 00:14:34.80\00:14:36.14 during the investigative judgment. 00:14:36.17\00:14:37.97 Are you following me or not? 00:14:38.01\00:14:39.34 This is an amazing passage. 00:14:39.74\00:14:41.44 Now we're going to unpack this in the next few minutes. 00:14:41.64\00:14:44.45 I'm not going to read everything we find in the Elijah story, 00:14:44.75\00:14:48.72 all of the Bible verses, because we have way too much to cover. 00:14:48.75\00:14:52.69 But I'll pick and choose. 00:14:52.72\00:14:54.36 Now let's go to page 129. 00:14:54.39\00:14:56.86 In the Old Testament story, that is parallel to the 00:14:58.03\00:15:02.13 fourth trumpet, by the way, Jezebel is shown to be a 00:15:02.16\00:15:07.54 pagan priestess who introduced a synchronistic hybrid religion. 00:15:07.57\00:15:14.14 In other words, it was not pure paganism. 00:15:14.61\00:15:17.35 It was paganism mingled with the worship of the Lord. 00:15:17.68\00:15:22.78 That's the reason why Elijah said on Mount Carmel, 00:15:23.18\00:15:25.65 "Why do you live between two opinions. 00:15:25.69\00:15:28.62 If the Lord is God, follow Him; and if Baal, follow him." 00:15:28.66\00:15:31.63 But don't try to follow both. 00:15:31.86\00:15:33.60 So she introduced a synchronistic hybrid religion 00:15:33.80\00:15:37.93 that lead God's people Israel into what? 00:15:38.13\00:15:41.14 Into apostasy. 00:15:41.40\00:15:42.90 In Revelation, Thyatira represents the period 00:15:43.24\00:15:46.88 of history when the Christian church blended 00:15:46.91\00:15:50.18 paganism with what? 00:15:50.45\00:15:52.01 With Christianity. 00:15:52.51\00:15:53.85 Does the papacy claim to be a Christian system? 00:15:53.88\00:15:55.95 Did it embrace a whole bunch of pagan practices? 00:15:56.55\00:16:01.42 Absolutely. There's the parallel. 00:16:01.46\00:16:03.49 And this church behaved like Jezebel. 00:16:03.76\00:16:06.73 This period is the same as the fourth trumpet. 00:16:07.13\00:16:10.27 So let's compare the story of the historical Jezebel 00:16:10.67\00:16:15.24 with the story of the prophetic Jezebel. 00:16:15.27\00:16:18.71 And we're going to draw eleven parallels 00:16:18.74\00:16:21.81 between historical Jezebel, the Old Testament Jezebel, 00:16:21.84\00:16:25.81 and of course those who accompany her in the story, 00:16:26.01\00:16:29.12 and what happens during the period of the fourth trumpet. 00:16:29.15\00:16:33.42 The first parallel is that historical Jezebel 00:16:34.29\00:16:39.09 led Israel into what? 00:16:39.13\00:16:41.40 False worship to what? 00:16:41.80\00:16:44.93 To the sun-god, Baal. 00:16:45.37\00:16:48.10 Now you can read that in 1 Kings 16:30-31. 00:16:48.90\00:16:52.84 It's right there. 00:16:52.87\00:16:54.21 The last part of the verse says that Jezebel joined 00:16:54.24\00:16:58.81 with King Ahab, and Ahab went and served Baal, and what? 00:16:58.85\00:17:04.92 And worshiped him. 00:17:05.05\00:17:06.45 So there's the worship of the sun-god. 00:17:06.49\00:17:08.99 Ellen White has a very interesting statement, 00:17:09.62\00:17:13.29 at the bottom of page 129. 00:17:13.33\00:17:15.66 And by the way, you can read also from secular sources. 00:17:15.76\00:17:18.90 Easton's Bible Dictionary, let's read that one first. 00:17:18.93\00:17:21.60 "The sun-god, under the general title of Baal, 00:17:21.84\00:17:25.81 or 'lord,' was the chief object of worship of the Canaanites. 00:17:25.84\00:17:30.61 Each locality had its special Baal, and the various 00:17:30.91\00:17:34.72 local Baals were summed up under the name of Baalim, or 'lords.' 00:17:34.75\00:17:40.66 Each Baal had a wife, who was a colorless 00:17:40.76\00:17:44.03 reflection of himself." 00:17:44.06\00:17:45.56 And that, of course, is the moon goddess, Asherah. 00:17:45.66\00:17:49.03 And by the way, that's why they worshiped idols 00:17:49.50\00:17:53.27 of silver and gold. 00:17:53.30\00:17:54.67 Silver was in honor of the moon, 00:17:54.70\00:17:56.87 and gold was in honor of the sun. 00:17:56.91\00:17:58.97 So what was Baal? 00:17:59.47\00:18:00.94 The sun-god. 00:18:01.71\00:18:03.04 Ellen White confirms this. 00:18:03.18\00:18:05.05 In, Great Controversy, page 583, she wrote, 00:18:05.45\00:18:09.22 "Though in a different form, idolatry exists in the Christian 00:18:09.85\00:18:13.72 world today as verily as it existed among ancient Israel 00:18:13.76\00:18:17.59 in the days of Elijah. 00:18:17.63\00:18:19.03 The god of many professedly wise men, of philosophers, 00:18:19.39\00:18:24.13 poets, politicians, journalists; the god of polished fashionable 00:18:24.17\00:18:28.64 circles of many colleges and universities, 00:18:28.67\00:18:31.77 even of some theological institutions," 00:18:31.97\00:18:34.88 have mercy, "is little better than Baal..." The what? 00:18:34.91\00:18:38.91 "...the sun-god of Phoenicia." 00:18:38.95\00:18:41.28 So what was Baal? 00:18:42.15\00:18:43.52 The sun-god. 00:18:43.99\00:18:45.32 So what worship did Jezebel introduce into Israel? 00:18:45.35\00:18:49.39 Sun worship. 00:18:49.42\00:18:50.76 Did the church during the 1260 years have anything 00:18:51.03\00:18:53.96 do with the sun? 00:18:54.00\00:18:56.23 Yeah, it's no longer the literal sun, 00:18:56.53\00:18:59.57 we're not dealing with worshiping the literal sun. 00:18:59.60\00:19:02.00 We're dealing with worshiping when? 00:19:02.17\00:19:04.14 On the day of the sun. 00:19:04.57\00:19:06.51 Sun-day. 00:19:06.74\00:19:08.18 And in a previous presentation I showed that basically it's 00:19:08.58\00:19:11.75 the same principle. 00:19:11.78\00:19:13.11 You know, anything that man makes for worship is idolatry. 00:19:13.78\00:19:19.79 The first day of the week is not a day of worship. 00:19:20.56\00:19:22.49 So if you make it a day of worship, that's idolatry. 00:19:22.52\00:19:24.79 God did not create the sun as an object of worship. 00:19:25.63\00:19:28.26 So if you make it an object of worship, that's idolatry. 00:19:28.30\00:19:31.33 It's the same basic principle. 00:19:31.53\00:19:33.80 Now prophetic Jezebel also does the same thing. 00:19:34.60\00:19:38.14 Does prophetic Jezebel introduce idolatry into the church 00:19:38.47\00:19:45.61 during the 1260 years? 00:19:45.65\00:19:47.52 We're at the top of page 130. 00:19:48.08\00:19:50.55 Absolutely. 00:19:50.59\00:19:51.92 We're told here that the Jezebel of the 1260 years 00:19:51.95\00:19:57.59 introduced idolatry. 00:19:57.79\00:19:59.43 It led people to eat things sacrificed to idols. 00:19:59.53\00:20:03.26 You have this statement from Ellen White, 00:20:04.20\00:20:06.40 "The spirit of concession to paganism opened the way 00:20:06.43\00:20:10.21 for a still further disregard of Heaven's authority. 00:20:10.24\00:20:13.48 Satan tampered with the fourth commandment also, 00:20:13.88\00:20:16.91 and essayed to set aside the ancient Sabbath, 00:20:17.45\00:20:21.92 the day which God had blessed and sanctified, 00:20:22.08\00:20:24.65 and in its stead to exalt the festival observed by the 00:20:24.99\00:20:28.82 heathen as 'the venerable day of the sun.'" 00:20:28.86\00:20:31.49 Do you see the connection that Ellen White makes 00:20:31.53\00:20:33.66 with the worship of the sun with the worship on the 00:20:33.70\00:20:36.46 day of the sun? 00:20:36.50\00:20:37.83 Now the second parallel that we have is that Jezebel 00:20:38.20\00:20:42.24 is called the mother. 00:20:42.27\00:20:44.71 And she is a harlot. 00:20:47.01\00:20:49.44 And she is involved in the occult. 00:20:50.35\00:20:52.91 Interesting. 00:20:54.58\00:20:55.92 Is that true also of prophetic Jezebel, 00:20:56.22\00:20:59.42 the Jezebel of the 1260 years? 00:20:59.45\00:21:02.16 Absolutely. 00:21:02.62\00:21:03.96 Notice Revelation 17:1-2, 5. 00:21:04.06\00:21:07.03 I'm not reading the historical part. 00:21:07.06\00:21:08.86 You have it right there. 00:21:08.90\00:21:10.23 Because we don't have enough time to do everything 00:21:10.27\00:21:14.24 that we have in this study manual. 00:21:14.27\00:21:16.97 It says in Revelation 17:1... 00:21:17.27\00:21:19.44 So you have a harlot in both stories. 00:21:29.65\00:21:31.82 Is that true also of Jezebel with Ahab? 00:21:37.33\00:21:39.96 Absolutely. 00:21:40.26\00:21:41.60 So the end time harlot, who is also the harlot 00:21:57.21\00:22:01.68 during the 1260 years, is referred to as the what? 00:22:01.72\00:22:05.82 As the mother, she's a harlot, 00:22:05.85\00:22:08.89 and she's involved in the occult. 00:22:09.22\00:22:10.93 Is the papacy also involved in the occult? 00:22:11.99\00:22:15.50 Notice Revelation 18:23, speaking about Babylon. 00:22:15.80\00:22:19.33 "For your merchants were the great men of the earth..." 00:22:19.60\00:22:22.54 What is at the root of the occult? 00:22:28.21\00:22:30.95 What is at the root of spiritualism? 00:22:30.98\00:22:32.95 The idea that the dead are not dead. 00:22:33.15\00:22:35.38 The immortality of the soul. 00:22:35.42\00:22:36.92 Is Roman Catholic theology based on the idea that 00:22:37.62\00:22:40.56 the dead are not dead? 00:22:40.59\00:22:41.92 You look at the entire theology of the Roman Catholic Church, 00:22:42.72\00:22:45.69 it is based on the idea of the immortality of the soul. 00:22:45.79\00:22:48.30 You pray to the saints, you pray to Mary, 00:22:48.33\00:22:50.47 you know, you do special mass for people who are dead. 00:22:50.67\00:22:54.24 You know, people go to hell and to burn while they're alive, 00:22:54.67\00:22:57.87 or they go to purgatory to purge their sins. 00:22:57.91\00:23:00.34 Everything is based on spiritualism. 00:23:00.58\00:23:02.74 And the idea, of course, of spiritualism is based 00:23:03.24\00:23:07.12 on the immortality of the soul. 00:23:07.22\00:23:09.28 Let's notice the third parallel. 00:23:09.65\00:23:11.65 The issues in the days of Elijah are the same issues 00:23:12.15\00:23:16.73 that involve the papacy during the 1260 years 00:23:16.89\00:23:20.03 as well as in the end time. 00:23:20.06\00:23:21.80 What are the issues? 00:23:22.36\00:23:23.70 The first issue is concerning the law of God. 00:23:23.83\00:23:27.60 The second issue is concerning worship. 00:23:28.57\00:23:31.91 And the third issue has to do with the true gospel. 00:23:32.31\00:23:36.44 Now were these the three issues of controversy 00:23:37.08\00:23:40.38 in the days of Elijah? 00:23:40.42\00:23:41.75 Yes. 00:23:42.05\00:23:43.39 1 Kings 16:30-31, I'm not going to read it, 00:23:43.42\00:23:46.39 but you'll find that we are told there 00:23:46.62\00:23:49.02 that Ahab, of course, and all of Israel, went and served 00:23:49.12\00:23:53.80 Baal and worshiped him. 00:23:53.83\00:23:55.26 So worship is involved. 00:23:55.43\00:23:57.30 Is the law involved? 00:23:57.60\00:23:59.17 Absolutely. 00:23:59.47\00:24:00.80 When Elijah meets Ahab, what does he say to Ahab? 00:24:00.84\00:24:04.97 "...you have forsaken..." What? 00:24:05.01\00:24:07.61 "...the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals." 00:24:07.88\00:24:11.78 So are the commandments involved in the story of Elijah? 00:24:11.81\00:24:15.78 Absolutely. 00:24:15.82\00:24:17.15 Is the gospel involved? 00:24:17.19\00:24:19.02 Absolutely. 00:24:19.52\00:24:20.86 You say, "How do we know that?" 00:24:21.09\00:24:22.66 Well, what did Elijah do when he went to Mount Carmel? 00:24:22.82\00:24:27.10 The first thing that he did was repair the altar of the Lord 00:24:27.13\00:24:31.50 that had been torn down. 00:24:31.53\00:24:32.90 What is it that was placed on the altar? 00:24:33.70\00:24:35.80 Sacrifices. 00:24:36.81\00:24:38.17 What did the sacrifices represent? 00:24:38.21\00:24:40.44 They represented the death of Christ for sinners. 00:24:40.78\00:24:44.61 So was the gospel torn down during the days of Elijah? 00:24:45.11\00:24:48.82 Three issues: worship, the commandments of God, 00:24:49.02\00:24:52.85 and the pure gospel. 00:24:53.15\00:24:55.96 By the way, yesterday we studied that the Roman Catholic system, 00:24:55.99\00:24:59.73 what did it do with Jesus Christ? 00:25:00.70\00:25:03.87 It eclipsed the work of Jesus Christ. 00:25:03.97\00:25:07.07 And it also eclipsed the testimony of the church. 00:25:07.44\00:25:11.41 And so this is parallel to what we studied yesterday. 00:25:11.74\00:25:15.54 Now let me ask you, in the book of Revelation 00:25:16.04\00:25:18.41 do we have the same three issues? 00:25:18.45\00:25:20.22 Absolutely. 00:25:20.35\00:25:21.68 On page 132 you have the issues. 00:25:21.72\00:25:23.95 Revelation 13:4. 00:25:24.15\00:25:26.15 The beast is a symbol of the papacy. 00:25:30.06\00:25:31.96 So is worship involved when it comes to the beast, 00:25:39.40\00:25:41.74 which is the same as Jezebel? 00:25:41.77\00:25:43.30 Yes. Is the law involved during the 1260 years 00:25:43.34\00:25:48.04 and at the end of time? 00:25:48.08\00:25:49.41 Yes. You know Daniel 7:25. 00:25:49.44\00:25:52.05 It says that the little horn, which is the same as the beast 00:25:52.08\00:25:55.38 or the harlot, thought that is could change what? 00:25:55.42\00:25:58.22 It could change God's holy law. 00:25:58.42\00:26:00.79 Also, is the true gospel involved? 00:26:01.46\00:26:03.96 Remember, we studied Daniel 8 yesterday. 00:26:04.36\00:26:06.66 What did the papacy do? 00:26:07.16\00:26:08.56 Instead of the showbread, it gave what? 00:26:09.26\00:26:11.30 Tradition. 00:26:11.33\00:26:12.67 Instead of the once for all sacrifice, 00:26:12.70\00:26:15.00 it established the mass. 00:26:15.10\00:26:16.71 Instead of the light of the church enlightening the world, 00:26:17.04\00:26:23.01 it was the period of the Dark Ages. 00:26:23.38\00:26:25.41 Instead of the intercessory work of Christ, 00:26:25.61\00:26:28.15 a counterfeit priesthood now was placed to intercede. 00:26:28.48\00:26:32.29 Did the papacy interfere with the true gospel? 00:26:32.59\00:26:35.66 It most certainly did. 00:26:35.69\00:26:37.19 Now, notice the fourth parallel. 00:26:37.89\00:26:40.56 During the period of historical Jezebel, 00:26:41.56\00:26:44.00 because of the apostasy there was no what? 00:26:44.03\00:26:48.04 There was no rain. 00:26:48.44\00:26:50.01 Is that true also of the 1260 years? 00:26:50.91\00:26:54.34 Notice Revelation 11:16. That's the top of page 133. 00:26:54.84\00:27:00.62 "These..." That is the two witnesses. 00:27:01.42\00:27:03.08 What do the two witnesses represent? 00:27:03.12\00:27:04.99 The Bible. The Old and New Testament. 00:27:06.02\00:27:08.09 What do they have power to do? 00:27:08.59\00:27:10.13 "...to shut heaven so that no rain falls 00:27:10.53\00:27:14.76 in the days of their prophecy." 00:27:14.80\00:27:16.53 Are you catching the point? 00:27:17.33\00:27:18.67 So was there any rain because of the apostasy 00:27:18.97\00:27:21.30 in the times of Jezebel? 00:27:21.34\00:27:22.67 No. Was there any rain during the period of spiritual Jezebel? 00:27:22.84\00:27:27.08 Absolutely not. 00:27:27.11\00:27:28.58 And by the way, why was there no rain 00:27:28.81\00:27:31.71 during the 1260 years? 00:27:31.81\00:27:33.98 Well, we find here in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 the answer. 00:27:34.08\00:27:38.55 God says, "When I shut up the heaven 00:27:38.59\00:27:40.26 and there is not rain, or command the locusts 00:27:40.29\00:27:43.06 to devour the land, and send pestilence among My people, 00:27:43.09\00:27:47.03 if My people that are called by My name will..." What? 00:27:47.53\00:27:50.37 "...humble themselves, and pray and seek My face..." 00:27:50.40\00:27:53.34 Ah, now comes the key portion that most people don't quote. 00:27:53.54\00:27:56.87 "...and turn from their wicked ways, 00:27:57.27\00:27:59.27 then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin 00:27:59.74\00:28:02.94 and heal their land." 00:28:02.98\00:28:04.31 Why was there no literal rain during the days of Elijah? 00:28:04.35\00:28:07.45 Because people were in apostasy. 00:28:07.98\00:28:09.75 Why was there no rain during the 1260 years? 00:28:10.15\00:28:13.22 Because people were in apostasy. 00:28:13.76\00:28:15.49 And what does the rain represent? 00:28:15.52\00:28:17.36 The rain represents the absence of what? 00:28:17.66\00:28:20.50 Of the Holy Spirit. 00:28:21.26\00:28:22.60 And that's the reason why the candlestick doesn't have the oil 00:28:22.96\00:28:26.37 and therefore it's the Dark Ages. 00:28:26.40\00:28:27.84 Because the candlestick... The church does not give light. 00:28:27.87\00:28:30.37 Now let's notice the fifth parallel. 00:28:31.17\00:28:33.34 This is the bottom of page 133. 00:28:33.78\00:28:36.48 How long did it not rain in the days of literal Jezebel? 00:28:36.71\00:28:41.12 James 5:17 tells us. 00:28:42.28\00:28:44.99 How long is that? 00:28:57.57\00:28:58.90 Time, times, and the dividing of time. 00:28:59.60\00:29:03.00 Of course, all of this is coincidence. 00:29:03.04\00:29:05.07 You think? 00:29:06.44\00:29:07.78 No. 00:29:07.91\00:29:09.24 What is literal in the Old Testament becomes 00:29:09.28\00:29:11.25 symbolic during the church period. 00:29:11.28\00:29:13.68 Now let's notice Revelation chapter... 00:29:13.95\00:29:17.95 I don't have the reference here, but this is found in 00:29:18.79\00:29:22.02 the story of the church of Thyatira. 00:29:22.06\00:29:24.33 It says, "I gave her..." What? 00:29:24.53\00:29:26.49 "...time..." The word is Chronos. 00:29:27.80\00:29:30.10 What word do we get from chronos? 00:29:30.33\00:29:32.30 Chronology. 00:29:32.40\00:29:33.74 "I gave her chronological time." 00:29:33.94\00:29:35.64 That is 1260 years. 00:29:35.67\00:29:37.74 "...to repent of her sexual immorality," or her fornication, 00:29:37.94\00:29:41.24 "and she did not repent." 00:29:41.28\00:29:43.24 How long did God give Jezebel the harlot to repent? 00:29:43.55\00:29:47.62 Notice Revelation once again. 00:29:48.12\00:29:50.42 This is Revelation 11. 00:29:50.75\00:29:52.35 "And I will give power to my two witnesses, 00:29:52.55\00:29:54.79 and they will prophesy..." How long? 00:29:54.99\00:29:57.16 "...one-thousand two-hundred and sixty days, 00:29:57.26\00:30:00.56 clothed in sackcloth." 00:30:00.60\00:30:02.60 1260 days is equivalent to what? 00:30:03.30\00:30:06.07 Time, times, and the dividing of time. 00:30:06.10\00:30:08.30 Notice Daniel 7:25. 00:30:08.34\00:30:10.27 "He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, 00:30:11.34\00:30:14.34 shall persecute the saints of the Most High, 00:30:14.54\00:30:16.85 and shall intend to change times and law. 00:30:17.05\00:30:19.21 Then the saints shall be given into his hand..." 00:30:19.41\00:30:21.98 For how long? 00:30:22.02\00:30:23.35 "...for a time, and times, and half a time." 00:30:23.39\00:30:26.02 Three and a half years. 00:30:26.62\00:30:27.96 But here they are symbolic years. 00:30:28.59\00:30:30.96 In the Old Testament they are literal years. 00:30:31.46\00:30:33.80 Are you with me? 00:30:33.83\00:30:35.16 Very important principle. 00:30:35.20\00:30:36.67 Now let's go to the next parallel, parallel number six. 00:30:37.13\00:30:40.24 Was there a faithful remnant in the days of Elijah? 00:30:40.44\00:30:44.51 Yes. Not only Elijah, but also what? 00:30:45.07\00:30:48.58 Ooh. 00:30:49.01\00:30:50.35 "I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, 00:30:50.38\00:30:53.92 all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, 00:30:54.18\00:30:56.95 and every mouth that has not kissed him." 00:30:57.19\00:31:00.26 So was there a faithful remnant? 00:31:00.36\00:31:02.36 A minority? Yes there was. 00:31:02.39\00:31:04.69 Was there also a remnant in the church of Thyatira? 00:31:04.89\00:31:08.36 Here's a very interesting word. 00:31:08.80\00:31:10.73 Revelation 2:24-25 00:31:10.93\00:31:13.37 "Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira..." 00:31:13.67\00:31:18.04 Now that is not a good translation. 00:31:18.07\00:31:20.44 The expression, "the rest," is the Greek word, "loipos." 00:31:20.94\00:31:25.45 It's the same word that is used in Revelation 12:17 00:31:26.38\00:31:29.82 where the dragon goes against the remnant of her seed. 00:31:30.02\00:31:33.79 "Loipos," should be translated, remnant. 00:31:34.82\00:31:37.33 Was there a remnant in Thyatira? 00:31:37.43\00:31:39.56 Yes there was. 00:31:39.76\00:31:41.10 So it says here, "Now to you I say, and to the 00:31:41.13\00:31:45.50 remnant in Thyatira..." 00:31:45.53\00:31:46.87 What characterized the remnant? 00:31:46.90\00:31:49.04 Oh, "...as many as do not have this doctrine..." 00:31:49.30\00:31:52.87 In other words, those who did not follow 00:31:52.91\00:31:54.54 the teachings of Jezebel. 00:31:54.58\00:31:56.01 "...who have not known the depths of Satan..." 00:31:56.24\00:31:58.71 So is there a faithful remnant during this period? Yes. 00:31:58.75\00:32:01.82 "...I will put on you no other burden. 00:32:02.02\00:32:04.22 But hold fast what you have until I come." 00:32:04.25\00:32:08.19 Let's notice a seventh parallel. 00:32:08.96\00:32:11.46 Who was blamed in the days of Elijah for everything 00:32:12.56\00:32:15.56 that was occurring? 00:32:15.60\00:32:16.93 Elijah. 00:32:17.73\00:32:19.07 Was he hunted by the powers that be? 00:32:19.10\00:32:22.94 Yes. Notice 1 Kings 18:17. 00:32:23.04\00:32:26.17 "Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah..." 00:32:26.54\00:32:29.28 Who was blamed to be the troubler of Israel? 00:32:35.52\00:32:38.49 It was Elijah. 00:32:38.65\00:32:40.96 And so now they hunt for him. 00:32:41.12\00:32:43.09 Notice 1 Kings 18:10 and 17. 00:32:43.43\00:32:47.03 "As the Lord God lives, there is no nation or kingdom..." 00:32:47.43\00:32:51.47 This is Ahab speaking. 00:32:51.50\00:32:52.90 This is a messenger sent by Ahab to Elijah. 00:32:58.17\00:33:01.01 He's saying, "You know, my master has sent me 00:33:01.04\00:33:03.91 to look for you everywhere." 00:33:03.95\00:33:05.41 So did they hunt for Elijah, try to hunt him down 00:33:12.75\00:33:16.36 to destroy him? 00:33:16.39\00:33:17.73 Absolutely. 00:33:17.76\00:33:19.09 Is that true also of prophetic Jezebel's period? 00:33:19.13\00:33:23.37 Notice here Revelation 12:6. 00:33:23.67\00:33:26.50 Why is she fleeing? 00:33:30.37\00:33:31.71 On vacation? 00:33:32.47\00:33:33.81 No. She's fleeing because Jezebel, spiritual Jezebel, 00:33:34.21\00:33:37.51 wants to finish her off. 00:33:37.55\00:33:38.91 So you have this parallel. 00:33:48.72\00:33:51.06 Historical Jezebel and Ahab persecute Elijah 00:33:51.29\00:33:56.90 and blame him for what's happening. 00:33:56.93\00:33:58.47 The same happens during the 1260 years. 00:33:58.50\00:34:01.27 Let's notice parallel number eight. 00:34:01.44\00:34:03.57 Where did Elijah find refuge? 00:34:04.47\00:34:07.34 He found refuge in the wilderness, right? 00:34:08.78\00:34:12.15 Where did prophetic Elijah during the period of Jezebel 00:34:13.15\00:34:17.72 find refuge? 00:34:17.75\00:34:19.19 Ah, notice Revelation 12:6 and 14. 00:34:20.22\00:34:24.36 "Then the woman fled into..." Where? 00:34:24.69\00:34:26.86 "...the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God 00:34:27.36\00:34:30.57 that they should feed her there 1260 days." 00:34:30.60\00:34:34.24 And verse 14, "However, the woman was given two wings 00:34:34.40\00:34:37.97 of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness 00:34:38.01\00:34:41.44 to her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, 00:34:41.48\00:34:45.05 and half a time from the presence of the serpent." 00:34:45.08\00:34:48.32 So Elijah is protected when he flees to the wilderness. 00:34:48.35\00:34:52.12 And the church during the period of spiritual Jezebel 00:34:52.35\00:34:55.56 also flees and goes to the wilderness. 00:34:55.76\00:34:59.39 What happened with Elijah there in the wilderness? 00:35:00.40\00:35:02.56 He starved to death, right? 00:35:02.60\00:35:04.20 No. He was fed by God. 00:35:05.27\00:35:07.70 He was nourished by God. 00:35:07.74\00:35:09.10 Notice what we find in 1 Kings 17:4. 00:35:09.40\00:35:13.68 "And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, 00:35:13.98\00:35:16.44 and I have commanded the ravens to..." What? 00:35:16.71\00:35:19.81 "...to feed you there." 00:35:19.85\00:35:21.52 So was the historical Elijah fed? 00:35:21.72\00:35:24.79 Yes. 00:35:24.82\00:35:26.15 1 Kings 17:6 says, "The ravens brought him bread 00:35:26.19\00:35:29.46 and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; 00:35:29.56\00:35:34.13 and he drank from the brook." 00:35:34.16\00:35:36.16 Is this true also of prophetic Elijah during the 1260 years? 00:35:36.77\00:35:44.17 Absolutely. Let's read Revelation 12 again, verse 6. 00:35:44.27\00:35:48.38 And then verse 14 says that she would be what? 00:35:57.25\00:36:01.59 Nourished there. 00:36:01.86\00:36:03.86 Are you seeing the parallels? 00:36:04.23\00:36:05.69 There's just too many parallels for this to be a coincidence. 00:36:06.09\00:36:09.06 You see, the key point is that the church of Thyatira 00:36:09.33\00:36:13.74 mentions Jezebel. 00:36:13.77\00:36:15.24 And Jezebel never appears alone. 00:36:16.30\00:36:18.17 Whenever Jezebel appears, her bad company appears too. 00:36:18.61\00:36:23.24 Her three enemies, which are the prophets of Baal, 00:36:23.48\00:36:26.11 Jezebel, and Ahab the king. 00:36:26.58\00:36:31.45 Now let's go to the next parallel. 00:36:32.19\00:36:34.49 Parallel number ten. 00:36:34.82\00:36:37.19 Was the harlot Jezebel a murderer of God's people? 00:36:37.63\00:36:41.96 Yes. 00:36:42.43\00:36:43.77 You can read that in 1 Kings 18:4 where it says 00:36:43.80\00:36:46.87 that Jezebel massacred the prophets of the Lord. 00:36:46.90\00:36:50.57 And in 2 Kings 9:7 it says... 00:36:50.71\00:36:53.74 1 Kings 19:1-2 basically says the same thing, 00:37:04.69\00:37:08.59 that Elijah had to run for his life from the wrath of Jezebel. 00:37:08.69\00:37:13.90 Let's notice the parallel at the top of page 137. 00:37:14.40\00:37:20.04 Did spiritual Jezebel or symbolic Jezebel 00:37:20.30\00:37:24.34 persecute God's faithful people during the 1260 years? 00:37:24.54\00:37:28.08 Notice Daniel 7:25. 00:37:28.44\00:37:30.58 In Revelation 17 it even speaks of the harlot. 00:37:46.13\00:37:48.86 Jezebel was a harlot. 00:37:48.90\00:37:50.23 So here you have a harlot in Revelation 17, 00:37:50.27\00:37:52.20 and what characteristic does she have? 00:37:52.53\00:37:54.64 Chapter 18 and verse 24 adds, "And in her," 00:38:05.58\00:38:09.22 that is, in this harlot system... 00:38:09.25\00:38:10.92 So very interesting parallels, aren't they? 00:38:19.63\00:38:23.10 Now let's notice the last parallel, 00:38:23.37\00:38:25.53 parallel number eleven. 00:38:25.57\00:38:28.40 Jezebel had false prophets, right, that did her bidding. 00:38:29.40\00:38:33.51 But do you know that she also had a daughter 00:38:33.94\00:38:35.88 who did her bidding? 00:38:35.91\00:38:37.25 Incidentally, I might say that the false prophets 00:38:38.71\00:38:43.72 and the daughter are interchangeable. 00:38:44.05\00:38:47.16 Let me ask you, in Revelation chapter 13 00:38:47.66\00:38:50.73 does the mother have daughters? 00:38:51.19\00:38:53.46 It's called the false prophet, right? 00:38:54.90\00:38:57.40 But in Revelation 17 the harlot's followers 00:38:57.90\00:39:00.77 are called her what? 00:39:00.80\00:39:02.14 Her daughters. 00:39:02.50\00:39:03.84 Now, what we have to do is we have to compare two stories. 00:39:03.87\00:39:07.98 The story of Elijah in the Old Testament, 00:39:08.01\00:39:10.01 and you have to compare the story 00:39:10.35\00:39:12.41 of the New Testament Elijah. 00:39:12.45\00:39:14.15 Who is the New Testament Elijah? 00:39:14.48\00:39:15.82 I'm not talking about this end time Elijah of the 1260 years. 00:39:15.85\00:39:18.89 I'm talking about the New Testament Elijah who is whom? 00:39:18.92\00:39:22.09 John the Baptist. 00:39:22.52\00:39:23.86 How many enemies led to the death of John the Baptist? 00:39:24.06\00:39:26.80 Three. 00:39:27.43\00:39:28.76 By the way, Jesus identified John the Baptist 00:39:29.66\00:39:31.80 as Elijah three times. 00:39:31.83\00:39:33.97 Matthew 17, Matthew 11, and Luke chapter 1. 00:39:34.60\00:39:38.21 He identified... He said, "This is Elijah." 00:39:38.61\00:39:40.64 Of course, not in person. 00:39:40.68\00:39:42.01 He came to do the work of Elijah. 00:39:42.44\00:39:43.91 To prepare a people for the first coming of Jesus. 00:39:43.95\00:39:46.51 Now, have you ever read the story of the deaths 00:39:47.22\00:39:49.82 of John the Baptist? 00:39:49.85\00:39:51.22 The Elijah of the New Testament. 00:39:51.25\00:39:52.92 There is King Ahab. 00:39:53.56\00:39:54.89 Is he the dangerous figure in the story? 00:39:54.99\00:39:57.03 No, he's not the dangerous figure. 00:39:57.49\00:39:59.13 You know, he would have done nothing unless 00:39:59.23\00:40:01.83 it was for whom? 00:40:01.93\00:40:03.26 Aaah. 00:40:04.53\00:40:05.90 For Jezebel. Right? 00:40:06.17\00:40:09.07 But Jezebel used her false prophets to what? 00:40:09.87\00:40:14.21 To extend the false religion of Baal, 00:40:14.24\00:40:16.44 and to search for Elijah. 00:40:16.78\00:40:18.31 So in the Old Testament, Jezebel, the false prophets 00:40:18.85\00:40:22.25 do what she says because they eat at Jezebel's table. 00:40:22.28\00:40:24.85 And you don't bite the hand that feeds you. 00:40:24.89\00:40:26.69 And so they want... 00:40:28.79\00:40:30.13 You know, this union in the Old Testament 00:40:30.23\00:40:32.13 of Jezebel influencing the king who had a weak character, 00:40:32.16\00:40:36.56 and using the false prophets, they try to seek out 00:40:37.57\00:40:40.60 Elijah to kill him. 00:40:40.80\00:40:42.30 Now in the story of John the Baptist, the king, 00:40:43.10\00:40:45.21 is he a wimp? 00:40:45.51\00:40:46.84 Was Ahab a wimp? 00:40:47.78\00:40:49.44 They had the same character. 00:40:49.54\00:40:50.88 He's a wimp. 00:40:50.91\00:40:52.25 Excuse the expression. 00:40:52.85\00:40:54.22 But you understand what I'm saying. 00:40:54.65\00:40:56.15 You know, he actually liked John the Baptist. 00:40:56.58\00:40:58.82 You read the story in Mark chapter 6. 00:40:58.85\00:41:00.89 He enjoyed sitting and listening to him. 00:41:01.02\00:41:03.06 But there was a harlot who hated John the Baptist. 00:41:03.66\00:41:06.73 Who was it? 00:41:06.76\00:41:08.10 Herodias. 00:41:08.13\00:41:09.46 And by the way, she was an adulterous woman because 00:41:09.50\00:41:11.70 she was sleeping with someone who was somebody else's husband. 00:41:11.73\00:41:16.20 Right? 00:41:16.24\00:41:17.57 And so, what did she want to do? 00:41:18.01\00:41:19.57 She wanted to kill John the Baptist. 00:41:20.08\00:41:22.64 But it's like she had a deadly wound. 00:41:22.84\00:41:24.61 She couldn't, it says there in Mark chapter 6. 00:41:24.65\00:41:27.62 And so what does she do? 00:41:28.78\00:41:30.12 She says to her daughter at a banquet, 00:41:31.49\00:41:33.42 she says to the daughter, "Hey, you know, ask the king 00:41:33.46\00:41:38.46 to give you the head of John the Baptist." 00:41:39.46\00:41:41.50 And I'm shortening the story. 00:41:41.66\00:41:43.16 And the daughter says, "Mother! 00:41:43.90\00:41:46.20 What are you saying, mother?" 00:41:48.07\00:41:49.70 No. The daughter, it says, immediately... 00:41:49.74\00:41:53.34 Like mother, like daughter. 00:41:53.98\00:41:55.81 The daughter goes and says, "Give me the head of 00:41:56.58\00:41:59.61 John the Baptist on a silver platter." 00:41:59.65\00:42:01.88 And that's how John the Baptist died. 00:42:02.52\00:42:04.35 The end time trilogy, or enemies, 00:42:06.12\00:42:10.16 are the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. 00:42:10.19\00:42:12.59 The dragon represents the kings of the earth. 00:42:13.16\00:42:15.36 The beast is the papacy, or the harlot. 00:42:15.76\00:42:18.33 And the false prophet are the daughters. 00:42:18.57\00:42:20.80 Is the same going to happen at the end of time? 00:42:21.74\00:42:23.51 Are the kings of the earth the primary danger for God's people? 00:42:23.54\00:42:27.38 No. The kings are not. 00:42:27.84\00:42:30.08 Who tries to influence the civil powers of the world? 00:42:31.75\00:42:35.38 The papacy. But she has what? 00:42:36.02\00:42:37.85 A deadly wound. 00:42:38.32\00:42:39.65 So she needs whom? 00:42:40.02\00:42:41.52 Her daughters, or the false prophet, to do her bidding. 00:42:42.02\00:42:45.76 Are you with me? 00:42:45.79\00:42:47.13 This is not speculation. 00:42:47.26\00:42:50.07 This is what the Bible calls typology. 00:42:51.07\00:42:53.23 This is typology. 00:42:53.27\00:42:54.60 Type and anti-type. 00:42:54.64\00:42:55.97 Now did Jezebel... 00:42:56.10\00:42:58.17 See, Jezebel not only had false prophets, 00:42:58.21\00:43:00.21 she had also an apostate daughter that did her bidding. 00:43:00.41\00:43:03.41 You say, "Now wait a minute." 00:43:03.45\00:43:04.78 Do you know who usurped the throne after Jezebel? 00:43:05.25\00:43:08.78 Her daughter called Athaliah. 00:43:09.38\00:43:11.49 Let's read about Athaliah 00:43:12.62\00:43:14.46 in, Bible Commentary, volume 2, page 1038, 00:43:14.99\00:43:18.36 Very interesting. 00:43:20.10\00:43:21.43 "With her seductive arts, 00:43:22.33\00:43:24.40 Jezebel made Jehoshaphat her friend." 00:43:24.73\00:43:28.14 That was the king of Judah. 00:43:29.34\00:43:30.87 "She arranged a marriage between her daughter Athaliah 00:43:31.24\00:43:34.28 and Jehoram, the son of Jehoshaphat. 00:43:34.31\00:43:37.35 She knew that her daughter, brought up under her guidance 00:43:38.41\00:43:43.42 and as unscrupulous as herself, would carry out her designs." 00:43:43.89\00:43:50.93 Are you seeing the parallel? 00:43:52.56\00:43:54.10 Now, let's unpack this. 00:43:55.43\00:43:58.43 Who are the daughters when it comes to the 1260 years 00:43:58.47\00:44:02.90 and the end time? 00:44:03.10\00:44:04.87 Well, the daughters represent the Protestant denominations 00:44:05.47\00:44:12.28 that were born from the mother in the 16th century. 00:44:12.31\00:44:16.89 Let me ask you, did the daughters totally sever their 00:44:17.95\00:44:20.96 relationship with their mother? 00:44:20.99\00:44:22.46 You know why the Protestant churches 00:44:23.46\00:44:25.03 are going to return to the mother? 00:44:25.06\00:44:26.39 Because they never fully broke away from the mother. 00:44:26.43\00:44:28.96 They kept some of the doctrines of the mother. 00:44:30.20\00:44:36.27 Two of them primarily. 00:44:37.24\00:44:38.67 Well, actually three. 00:44:38.71\00:44:40.04 Sunday as the day of worship, 00:44:40.68\00:44:43.48 the immortality of the soul, 00:44:44.51\00:44:46.28 and an eternally burning hell. 00:44:47.05\00:44:48.75 Those will be the links, Ellen White says 00:44:50.42\00:44:52.72 that Sunday and the immortality of the soul 00:44:52.82\00:44:55.52 will be the glue that will bring them together. 00:44:55.56\00:44:58.49 So the daughters were never able to sever their 00:44:59.09\00:45:01.93 relationship with their mother, 00:45:01.96\00:45:03.30 and they will come back to mother. 00:45:03.33\00:45:04.67 Let's read Revelation 17:5. 00:45:05.47\00:45:09.24 This is page 138. 00:45:09.94\00:45:11.77 And we notice in Revelation 2, Thyatira, 00:45:19.65\00:45:22.35 "I will kill her..." What? 00:45:22.58\00:45:24.22 "...her children with death..." 00:45:24.25\00:45:26.05 So Jezebel has what? Children. 00:45:26.09\00:45:29.52 You know, at Vatican Council II, the ice began to melt 00:45:29.96\00:45:35.86 in the relationship between the Protestants and the Catholics. 00:45:35.90\00:45:40.07 And there were actually Protestants that went 00:45:40.60\00:45:43.41 as observers to Vatican II, which took place 00:45:43.44\00:45:46.98 between 1962 and 1965. 00:45:47.01\00:45:49.61 And I want you to notice a couple of very 00:45:50.15\00:45:51.85 interesting statements here 00:45:51.88\00:45:53.52 that were made by Roman Catholics at the council. 00:45:54.85\00:46:00.19 First of all, John XXIII, who was the one who 00:46:00.22\00:46:03.26 called the council; the pope. 00:46:03.29\00:46:05.16 He addressed the Protestants who were there observing 00:46:06.13\00:46:11.37 in the following way: 00:46:11.40\00:46:12.73 "The Roman Catholic Church, she wants to be an affectionate, 00:46:12.97\00:46:19.17 kind, and patient..." What? "...mother. 00:46:19.21\00:46:23.31 She is moved by compassion and goodness toward 00:46:23.98\00:46:26.72 her alienated children." 00:46:26.75\00:46:29.12 Interesting, isn't it? 00:46:30.79\00:46:32.12 Pope Paul VI, who followed John XXIII, 00:46:33.76\00:46:36.73 during Vatican Council II added, "Because of their position, 00:46:37.79\00:46:43.40 separated brethren are the object of deep and tender 00:46:43.97\00:46:47.80 affection on the part of the mother church. 00:46:47.84\00:46:50.84 It is a love that feels grief and sadness, 00:46:52.47\00:46:55.54 the love of a heart wounded by estrangement, 00:46:55.74\00:46:58.58 because the estrangement prevents our brethren 00:46:58.81\00:47:01.48 from enjoying so many privileges and rights 00:47:01.52\00:47:04.09 makes them lose so much grace. 00:47:04.32\00:47:06.65 But perhaps for this very reason its love is all the deeper 00:47:06.92\00:47:10.93 and more burning." 00:47:10.99\00:47:12.93 Very, very interesting. 00:47:14.10\00:47:15.96 The mother saying that the Protestants are her what? 00:47:16.77\00:47:22.64 Children. 00:47:22.87\00:47:24.21 Notice, Great Controversy, pages 382 and 383. 00:47:24.24\00:47:27.44 "Babylon is said to be 'the mother of harlots.' 00:47:28.01\00:47:31.88 By her, 'daughters,' must be symbolized..." What? 00:47:32.51\00:47:35.32 "...churches that cling to her doctrines and traditions, 00:47:35.58\00:47:39.85 and follow her example of sacrificing the truth 00:47:39.89\00:47:44.03 and the approval of God in order to form an unlawful 00:47:44.06\00:47:48.10 alliance with the world." 00:47:48.13\00:47:50.37 And in the, Spalding and Magan Collection, page 1, 00:47:50.77\00:47:54.27 this is a significant statement. 00:47:54.60\00:47:56.37 I wish I had time to unpack the entire statement. 00:47:56.40\00:47:59.31 This is just a portion. 00:47:59.34\00:48:00.68 "Then I saw the mother of harlots; 00:48:01.01\00:48:03.18 that the mother was not the daughters, 00:48:03.41\00:48:06.92 but separate and distinct from them. 00:48:07.12\00:48:09.92 She," that is the mother, "has had her day, 00:48:10.35\00:48:13.56 and it is past, and her daughters, the Protestant sects, 00:48:13.96\00:48:19.16 were the next to come on the stage and act out the same mind 00:48:19.19\00:48:24.43 that the mother had when she persecuted the saints." 00:48:24.47\00:48:27.84 Are you catching the picture? 00:48:30.51\00:48:32.04 And Protestants today, they think that this pope 00:48:32.87\00:48:38.85 is marvelous and magnificent 00:48:39.05\00:48:41.95 because he speaks about helping the poor, 00:48:42.72\00:48:45.39 and taking care of creation, 00:48:45.42\00:48:47.36 and he washes the feet of prisoners. 00:48:47.66\00:48:49.96 They say, you know, this individual is the one who can 00:48:51.49\00:48:54.73 bring the world together in love. 00:48:54.76\00:48:56.90 Why? Because they've cast aside the shield of truth, 00:48:57.60\00:49:00.77 which is this Book. 00:49:01.30\00:49:02.64 Doctrine means nothing to Protestants anymore. 00:49:03.74\00:49:06.47 It's just, "Oh, let's just all agree to disagree. 00:49:06.88\00:49:11.21 Let's just all get together and feel good together." 00:49:11.75\00:49:15.75 Doctrine and truth means nothing anymore in this world. 00:49:16.45\00:49:19.49 Postmodern thinking has destroyed the idea 00:49:19.89\00:49:22.82 that there's such a thing as absolute truth. 00:49:22.86\00:49:25.09 But there is absolute truth, and it's in this Book. 00:49:25.79\00:49:29.30 Now, we have one more thing that we need to do. 00:49:30.67\00:49:34.44 Is there going to be an end time Elijah? 00:49:35.64\00:49:37.67 Yes there is. 00:49:38.47\00:49:39.81 The Elijah of the 1260 years is not the final Elijah. 00:49:40.31\00:49:44.15 The conclusion of the story is still in the future. 00:49:44.65\00:49:47.32 We know this for several reasons. 00:49:47.98\00:49:49.92 At the end of the 1260 years, the civil powers 00:49:50.25\00:49:53.46 mortally wounded Jezebel, but did not totally what? 00:49:53.56\00:49:58.29 Annihilate her. 00:49:58.69\00:50:00.06 Second, the daughters of Jezebel are still what? 00:50:01.00\00:50:04.17 Alive and well. 00:50:04.80\00:50:06.57 So they haven't been killed the way that we're told 00:50:06.77\00:50:10.14 in the message to the church at Thyatira. 00:50:10.17\00:50:12.44 Third, the great and terrible day of the Lord 00:50:13.51\00:50:15.94 has not yet what? Come. 00:50:15.98\00:50:18.21 And God promises to send Elijah before the great 00:50:18.25\00:50:20.88 and terrible time of the Lord. 00:50:20.92\00:50:22.35 And finally, God did not yet translate the church to heaven 00:50:23.15\00:50:27.62 like He did Elijah. 00:50:27.66\00:50:29.22 So are we to expect another Elijah? 00:50:29.69\00:50:32.19 Yes. 00:50:32.49\00:50:33.83 By the way, does the Old Testament tell us 00:50:34.10\00:50:37.93 that there is going to be another Elijah? 00:50:37.97\00:50:40.57 Yes. 00:50:41.30\00:50:42.64 It says in Malachi 4, and I'm not going to read 00:50:43.14\00:50:45.97 this entire passage, Malachi 4:1-6, 00:50:46.01\00:50:50.41 "the day is coming, burning like an oven," 00:50:50.45\00:50:52.88 the wicked will be stubble, they will be burned up, 00:50:53.75\00:50:56.65 neither root nor branch will be left. 00:50:57.42\00:50:59.82 Is this describing the coming of Christ in fire? 00:51:00.02\00:51:02.89 Yes. But what is He going to do before He comes? 00:51:02.92\00:51:06.49 Ah, let's go down here to verse 4. 00:51:06.90\00:51:10.50 There are two individuals that are mentioned here. 00:51:10.53\00:51:12.73 "Remember the Law of Moses..." 00:51:14.04\00:51:15.97 So who is brought to view? 00:51:23.01\00:51:24.45 Moses. 00:51:24.48\00:51:25.81 Who else is brought to view? 00:51:26.35\00:51:27.82 "Behold, I will send you..." Whom? 00:51:27.85\00:51:29.58 "...Elijah the prophet before the coming of the 00:51:29.98\00:51:32.62 great and dreadful day of the Lord. 00:51:32.65\00:51:34.16 And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, 00:51:34.39\00:51:36.62 and the hearts of the children to their fathers, 00:51:36.83\00:51:38.96 lest I come and strike the earth with a curse." 00:51:38.99\00:51:41.43 By the way, if you go to Revelation 11, 00:51:41.63\00:51:45.13 the two witnesses really are Moses and Elijah. 00:51:45.17\00:51:48.40 The work that Moses and Elijah did. 00:51:49.04\00:51:51.27 Because the witnesses turn water into blood. 00:51:52.01\00:51:55.31 We're going to study this later on. 00:51:55.34\00:51:56.68 Who turned water into blood? 00:51:56.71\00:51:58.08 Moses. 00:51:58.98\00:52:00.32 And they make fire come down from heaven. 00:52:00.42\00:52:02.62 Who brought fire down from heaven? 00:52:02.65\00:52:04.35 Elijah. 00:52:04.39\00:52:05.72 So the mention of Moses has to do with God's commandments. 00:52:05.89\00:52:10.16 The mention of Elijah means bringing God's people back 00:52:10.99\00:52:15.13 to the roots to prepare for the coming of the Lord. 00:52:15.33\00:52:18.67 Now why will there be an end time Elijah? 00:52:19.30\00:52:21.90 Well, because there's an end time Jezebel. 00:52:22.57\00:52:24.67 If you have Jezebel, you have to have, you know, Elijah too. 00:52:26.27\00:52:31.61 Right? 00:52:31.65\00:52:32.98 And you have to have also Ahab; the kings of the earth. 00:52:33.01\00:52:37.25 And you have to have the daughters. 00:52:37.29\00:52:38.85 Because they all are in the same story. 00:52:39.09\00:52:41.42 They all work together. 00:52:41.46\00:52:42.96 Now Revelation 6:9-11. 00:52:43.53\00:52:46.39 It doesn't look like we're going to be able to 00:52:46.49\00:52:48.03 finish this in this time period. 00:52:48.06\00:52:49.40 We'll have to come back to it. 00:52:49.43\00:52:51.00 But Revelation 6:9-11 is the fifth seal. 00:52:51.13\00:52:55.34 The fourth seal represents the period 00:52:56.57\00:52:58.77 of papal dominion. 00:52:58.81\00:53:00.81 What did the papacy do with God's people? 00:53:01.54\00:53:03.75 Slew God's people. 00:53:04.91\00:53:06.31 So in the fifth seal, the souls that were slain 00:53:06.55\00:53:10.09 under the fourth trumpet, under the fourth seal, 00:53:10.12\00:53:12.82 what are they doing? 00:53:13.12\00:53:14.46 They're crying out, "Lord, until..." When? 00:53:14.79\00:53:17.53 You can read this here. 00:53:17.69\00:53:19.06 "...until..." When? 00:53:19.09\00:53:20.43 "...do you not judge and avenge our blood 00:53:20.46\00:53:24.73 on those who dwell on the earth?" 00:53:24.77\00:53:26.13 "How long are You going to allow our blood to be shed?" 00:53:26.60\00:53:29.64 What is God's answer to them? 00:53:30.41\00:53:32.94 Notice verse 11. 00:53:33.31\00:53:34.88 So this first group of martyrs that were killed 00:53:42.12\00:53:44.19 during the 1260 years, they're told, they cry out for justice, 00:53:44.22\00:53:49.39 and God says to them, "You're going to..." What? 00:53:49.42\00:53:51.73 "You're going to rest for a little while longer." 00:53:51.93\00:53:54.10 But let me ask you, is there going to be 00:53:54.13\00:53:55.46 another group of martyrs? 00:53:55.50\00:53:56.83 Yes. 00:53:57.00\00:53:58.33 It says... 00:53:58.43\00:53:59.77 So is there going to be a future group of martyrs? 00:54:07.48\00:54:09.68 Yes, because the past group of martyrs cry out, 00:54:09.88\00:54:12.21 God gives them a white robe, He says, 00:54:12.25\00:54:14.25 "You're safe, you're secure. 00:54:14.28\00:54:15.82 You know, you're going to rest for a while 00:54:15.95\00:54:17.52 until the rest of the martyrs die." 00:54:17.55\00:54:19.59 When is it that the rest of the martyrs are going to die? 00:54:19.62\00:54:21.92 During that short time of trouble right before 00:54:21.96\00:54:25.16 the close of probation. 00:54:25.19\00:54:26.53 And who is going to be the protagonist 00:54:26.56\00:54:28.40 that is going to encourage that? 00:54:28.60\00:54:31.47 It is going to be a resurrected Roman Catholic papacy. 00:54:31.97\00:54:36.64 And let's go here to Revelation 2:22. 00:54:37.14\00:54:41.04 "Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed..." 00:54:41.61\00:54:43.61 This is the fifth trumpet, we're going to notice. 00:54:43.65\00:54:45.68 The fifth trumpet is the deadly wound, 00:54:46.45\00:54:48.38 the French Revolution, that makes the papacy inactive. 00:54:48.42\00:54:53.09 So it says, "Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed..." 00:54:53.42\00:54:55.92 That is this harlot Jezebel that worked during the 1260 years. 00:54:55.96\00:55:00.70 "...and those who commit adultery," 00:55:00.96\00:55:02.50 or fornication, "with her..." 00:55:02.53\00:55:04.17 That is the kings of the earth. 00:55:04.40\00:55:06.53 "...into great tribulation..." That's the French Revolution. 00:55:06.94\00:55:09.94 "...unless they repent of their deeds." 00:55:09.97\00:55:11.44 Now what does it mean to cast her into the sickbed? 00:55:11.47\00:55:14.51 Well, notice what a very reputable lexicon says. 00:55:15.14\00:55:21.18 Arndt and Gingrich Lexicon, page 436, 00:55:21.22\00:55:24.22 explains that this means, "To lay someone in a sickbed; 00:55:24.45\00:55:28.86 that is, to strike her with an illness..." 00:55:29.19\00:55:32.89 It gives Revelation 2:22. 00:55:33.63\00:55:35.86 "...a lingering illness as..." What? 00:55:35.90\00:55:38.73 "...as divine punishment." 00:55:39.33\00:55:41.24 Was the papacy divinely punished? 00:55:41.60\00:55:43.74 You better believe it. 00:55:43.77\00:55:45.11 But what does Revelation 13:3 have to say? 00:55:45.64\00:55:48.58 The deadly wound is going to what? 00:55:49.14\00:55:51.48 Heal. 00:55:51.85\00:55:53.18 "And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, 00:55:53.28\00:55:56.38 and his deadly wound was healed. 00:55:56.52\00:55:58.52 And all the world marveled and followed..." What? 00:55:58.75\00:56:01.72 "...and followed the beast." 00:56:02.09\00:56:03.73 Do you notice that the Elijah story broadens ever more? 00:56:05.06\00:56:08.56 It's like throwing a pebble into a lake, 00:56:08.60\00:56:10.67 and then you have the ripples that go wider and wider. 00:56:10.70\00:56:13.57 Where does the first Elijah minister? 00:56:13.77\00:56:17.77 In Israel. 00:56:18.77\00:56:20.11 What about the second Elijah? 00:56:20.44\00:56:22.28 In western Europe. 00:56:22.91\00:56:24.58 What about the last Elijah? 00:56:25.51\00:56:27.42 In the world. 00:56:28.02\00:56:29.35 Are you with me or not? 00:56:30.29\00:56:31.62 Now, Revelation 12:17 describes end time Elijah. 00:56:32.19\00:56:37.53 "...offspring..." Or the remnant of her seed, I like better. 00:56:41.86\00:56:44.63 And what do they do? 00:56:45.07\00:56:46.40 Which is the spirit of prophecy. 00:56:52.04\00:56:53.61 Let's read the paragraph at the top of page 141. 00:56:54.08\00:56:58.45 After the three and a half times, 00:56:58.48\00:57:00.35 God raises up a people who keep the commandments of God, 00:57:00.62\00:57:04.65 have the gift of prophecy, preach true worship 00:57:05.55\00:57:09.42 to the Creator on His holy Sabbath, 00:57:09.46\00:57:11.19 restore and proclaim the everlasting gospel, 00:57:11.79\00:57:14.63 denounce Babylon, and lead the world to take a stand 00:57:15.13\00:57:19.33 for the seal of God or the mark of the beast. 00:57:19.37\00:57:22.30 This end time Elijah will enlighten the world 00:57:22.70\00:57:25.01 with a loud cry. 00:57:25.21\00:57:26.71 As Elijah brought fire down from heaven, 00:57:27.01\00:57:28.84 the entire Mount Carmel was illuminated 00:57:28.88\00:57:31.61 when he gave his message. 00:57:31.65\00:57:33.21 Who is that end time remnant? 00:57:33.35\00:57:35.05 That end time remnant is the Seventh-day Adventist, 00:57:35.35\00:57:38.09 the faithful in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:57:38.39\00:57:41.09 I need to qualify that. 00:57:41.79\00:57:43.69 Because Ellen White states that most of those who are 00:57:43.89\00:57:47.26 in the church will eventually leave. 00:57:47.30\00:57:49.23 Sadly. 00:57:49.26\00:57:50.60 So did you understand what we studied? 00:57:50.63\00:57:53.17 You really have a summary of trumpet four, 00:57:53.70\00:57:56.87 five, six, and seven. 00:57:56.91\00:58:00.14
