The escalation of global terrorism, crime, immorality 00:00:09.25\00:00:12.34 and natural disasters, seems to indicate our world 00:00:12.37\00:00:15.37 is spiraling towards it's ultimate hour with destiny. 00:00:15.40\00:00:18.47 Who, if anyone, will survive Earth's final events? 00:00:18.50\00:00:21.50 Discover what Bible prophecy reveals about the rapture, 00:00:21.54\00:00:24.39 the mark of the beast, and Armageddon. 00:00:24.42\00:00:26.49 Though shrouded in mystery for centuries, 00:00:26.52\00:00:28.52 the book of Revelation can be understood today. 00:00:28.56\00:00:31.89 Peer into the future, and see what wonderful things 00:00:31.93\00:00:35.23 God has planned for His people. 00:00:35.26\00:00:38.11 And now, Pastor Brian McMahon presents the powerful 00:00:38.15\00:00:41.23 Bible seminar "Revelation Speaks Hope". 00:00:41.26\00:00:46.52 Our subject for this evening is "The Issue" 00:00:49.71\00:00:52.45 "That Divides The World", and I'd like you to turn with me 00:00:52.49\00:00:56.92 to the New Testament to the book of 2 Timothy as we begin. 00:00:56.96\00:01:01.36 Friends, tonight is a very important night 00:01:01.39\00:01:05.86 because we're going to establish through this subject 00:01:05.90\00:01:09.43 a link in the chain of truth that's going to take us 00:01:09.46\00:01:12.96 right to the end of the seminar. 00:01:12.99\00:01:15.26 I want to invite you, as I have each night, 00:01:15.30\00:01:18.57 to be in prayer, for special understanding, 00:01:18.61\00:01:21.40 remember that one of the greatest problems 00:01:21.43\00:01:23.87 that we're facing in the Christian world 00:01:23.91\00:01:26.28 is that so many people are listening to popular people 00:01:26.32\00:01:30.35 in popular places, saying popular things, 00:01:30.38\00:01:33.02 and they're really not checking it out for themselves. 00:01:33.06\00:01:36.46 In other words, they're just taking it all in 00:01:36.49\00:01:39.14 and swallowing it all down, "hook, line and sinker" 00:01:39.18\00:01:41.09 as we would say, but on our opening night 00:01:41.12\00:01:43.91 we looked at a text in 1 Thessalonians 5. 00:01:43.94\00:01:46.66 In 1 Thessalonians 5:21 it says: [text on screen] 00:01:46.70\00:01:50.76 If there ever was a time to prove all things 00:01:55.30\00:01:58.87 it's right now when so many things are being taught 00:01:58.91\00:02:01.97 all around the world, so I want to encourage you, 00:02:02.01\00:02:05.04 as I did opening night, check what it says 00:02:05.07\00:02:08.21 in your own Bible. If it's in the Scriptures, 00:02:08.24\00:02:10.83 if it's truth, if it's what the Bible says 00:02:10.86\00:02:13.42 then hold fast to it. 00:02:13.45\00:02:15.51 I'm going to take you through some statistics here 00:02:15.55\00:02:18.55 really quickly on the screen. In recent decades 00:02:18.59\00:02:22.02 crime has absolutely exploded here in the USA, 00:02:22.06\00:02:25.21 across North America, and really around the world. 00:02:25.24\00:02:28.36 [text on screen] 00:02:28.39\00:02:30.44 All one has to do is look at the articles in 00:02:49.10\00:02:51.52 the newspapers these days, whether it's violence, 00:02:51.56\00:02:54.23 or infidelity, adultery, and it's these kinds of things. 00:02:54.27\00:02:57.20 It's just 1 after another, 1 newsweek editor 00:02:57.23\00:03:00.37 actually ran this article "Gay America". 00:03:00.40\00:03:03.47 Well again, we can see that there's a problem 00:03:03.51\00:03:05.86 in our country, we've got drugs running rapid, 00:03:05.90\00:03:08.03 one particular article in Time Magazine said 00:03:08.07\00:03:10.99 "America The Violent" there's just so much crime 00:03:11.03\00:03:14.42 in this country. Then in the USA Today newspaper 00:03:14.46\00:03:17.78 there was a cover story that said "City dwellers fight fear" 00:03:17.82\00:03:21.74 "of violence", now it's a little bit small there 00:03:21.77\00:03:24.02 in the highlighted area, but I'm going to share with you 00:03:24.06\00:03:26.96 what that said, it says: "Some New Yorkers" 00:03:26.99\00:03:29.40 "enduring endless reports of unprovoked murderous attacks" 00:03:29.44\00:03:33.88 "are sending their kids to school in bullet proof vests." 00:03:33.91\00:03:38.32 Well, let's go to the Bible for some answers. 00:03:38.35\00:03:42.13 2 Timothy 4:2 is where we want to begin, it says: 00:03:42.16\00:03:46.64 "Preach the word" - now I'm going to pause there, 00:03:46.68\00:03:51.13 he doesn't say "preach the theories of men", 00:03:51.16\00:03:53.83 he doesn't say "preach politics", he doesn't say 00:03:53.87\00:03:56.51 "get up and give your own philosophies", 00:03:56.54\00:03:58.61 he says: "Preach the word" because there's a starvation 00:03:58.65\00:04:01.68 in our country for the word of God, but then we continue: 00:04:01.71\00:04:04.71 [text on screen] 00:04:04.74\00:04:06.79 A faithful minister is to preach the word, he is to reprove, 00:04:21.00\00:04:25.04 rebuke and exhort with long suffering and doctrine, 00:04:25.07\00:04:28.11 that's what a faithful minister is supposed to do. 00:04:28.14\00:04:30.68 But then it goes on and it says: "the time has come", 00:04:30.72\00:04:33.65 friends, the time HAS come when many people are not 00:04:33.69\00:04:36.40 enduring sound doctrine, that means correct teaching, 00:04:36.44\00:04:38.98 but rather they're going to go to places where they're 00:04:39.02\00:04:41.73 going to hear pleasing things that tickle the ears. 00:04:41.77\00:04:44.19 In other words, they're not going to go to places 00:04:44.22\00:04:46.23 where they're going to be taught things that they 00:04:46.26\00:04:48.73 should hear, but rather what they want to hear, 00:04:48.76\00:04:51.20 and there's a big big difference. 00:04:51.23\00:04:53.18 God says faithful ministers are going to preach the word 00:04:53.22\00:04:57.67 no matter what the consequences. 00:04:57.70\00:05:00.06 It's not the Bible that needs changing, it's people's hearts 00:05:01.06\00:05:03.61 that need changing. We aught not to try to take 00:05:03.64\00:05:06.67 the Bible off its high and holy position and bring it down 00:05:06.71\00:05:09.27 to fit our life; you see, I wouldn't do you a favor, 00:05:09.30\00:05:13.09 or anyone a favor if I compromised the message 00:05:13.12\00:05:16.65 in order to try and attract a large crowd here tonight. 00:05:16.69\00:05:19.24 I would rather preach the truth to 1 person 00:05:19.27\00:05:23.44 than in any way compromise it to try to get an audience 00:05:23.48\00:05:25.73 of 10,000. God forbid, there are too many 00:05:25.76\00:05:27.64 that are doing that tonight, but we can't do it here 00:05:27.68\00:05:29.49 at the Amazing Facts Seminar, and I don't believe that you 00:05:29.53\00:05:32.38 would be here if you knew that we were. 00:05:32.41\00:05:35.88 Let's go to another passage in Matthew 7. 00:05:35.92\00:05:39.32 Here is an amazing passage that brings to our realization 00:05:39.36\00:05:43.69 that there are going to be a lot of people that attended church, 00:05:43.73\00:05:46.90 and even used the name of Jesus, and yet they're not 00:05:46.93\00:05:49.91 going to be in the kingdom of heaven. 00:05:49.94\00:05:52.03 Matthew 7:21 and onward, it's a familiar passage 00:05:52.07\00:05:54.91 to a lot of you. Matthew 7:21, it says: 00:05:54.94\00:05:59.84 [text on screen] 00:05:59.87\00:06:01.83 "A few people will say to Me in that day"? 00:06:08.50\00:06:11.82 Are you reading? Alright, what is it? 00:06:12.05\00:06:14.75 "MANY will say to me in that day" - and that's talking 00:06:14.79\00:06:16.96 about the majority. [continues reading] 00:06:16.99\00:06:19.34 This is well worth noting here because here we're talking 00:06:30.61\00:06:33.43 about the majority of people, people that are even going 00:06:33.47\00:06:36.47 to church, people that are using Jesus' name, they're active 00:06:36.51\00:06:39.48 in the community, they're doing wonderful works, 00:06:39.51\00:06:42.64 as we would think, maybe even miracles, but friends, 00:06:42.68\00:06:45.62 Jesus said a lot of these people are going to be lost, 00:06:45.65\00:06:48.52 and we have to ask the question: "why would they be lost?" 00:06:48.56\00:06:51.40 Well it goes right back into the text here, it says: 00:06:51.43\00:06:54.91 "They did not do the will of the Father in heaven." 00:06:54.95\00:06:58.40 Since I don't want to fall into this category, 00:06:58.43\00:07:00.11 and I'm certain that you don't as well, 00:07:00.14\00:07:02.42 we have to ask ourselves the question: what is the will 00:07:02.46\00:07:04.87 of the Father in heaven? Jesus said these people 00:07:04.90\00:07:06.86 did not do it. So let's get the Bible answer 00:07:06.89\00:07:08.82 to that, let's go to Psalm 40:8. 00:07:08.85\00:07:12.17 Turn there, we'll get the Bible interpretation, what does 00:07:12.21\00:07:15.00 it mean to do the will of God? Psalm 40. 00:07:15.03\00:07:17.87 Remember on night #4 we talked about Hebrew parallelism, 00:07:17.91\00:07:20.78 synonymous parallelism, where they would say it 1 way 00:07:20.81\00:07:23.65 and then say it again using different words, 00:07:23.68\00:07:25.48 well here's another example of that - you'll see a number 00:07:25.52\00:07:27.33 of example here at the seminar as you read through 00:07:27.36\00:07:30.13 the books of poetry in the Bible. 00:07:30.16\00:07:32.66 Psalm 40:8, now David's going to tell us what God's will is: 00:07:32.70\00:07:38.20 [text on screen] 00:07:38.23\00:07:40.18 So David new that having God's law written in his heart 00:07:47.57\00:07:50.58 was God's will, he wasn't obeying God in order 00:07:50.61\00:07:54.04 to try to earn salvation, but he new it was a delight 00:07:54.08\00:07:56.72 to God to have His law written in his heart. 00:07:56.75\00:07:59.92 Okay, now let's go to the New Testament and see 00:07:59.95\00:08:03.09 what it has to say. Let's go to Romans 2. 00:08:03.12\00:08:06.59 We're going to be in Romans several times tonight, 00:08:06.63\00:08:09.83 so you might want to just mark that page if need to. 00:08:09.87\00:08:13.04 Romans 2:13: [text on screen] 00:08:13.07\00:08:16.90 I'm going to ask you a question dear friends: 00:08:28.93\00:08:30.50 is there, therefore, a difference between a hearer 00:08:30.54\00:08:33.12 and a doer? Yes, there is, 00:08:33.15\00:08:35.10 there is an enormous difference, it says one will be justified, 00:08:35.14\00:08:38.42 one will not be justified. 00:08:38.45\00:08:40.79 One of the famous passages of scripture is Ephesians 2:8,9, 00:08:40.83\00:08:45.03 so let's take a look at it up here on the screen. 00:08:45.06\00:08:49.00 Ephesians 2:8,9, it says: [text on screen] 00:08:56.63\00:09:00.06 A lot of people stop right there, they read verse 8, 00:09:07.21\00:09:09.98 they read verse 9, and that's where they end, 00:09:10.01\00:09:12.58 but they don't realize that verse 10 helps balance out 00:09:12.62\00:09:15.03 what Paul said. In verse 10 he says: 00:09:15.06\00:09:18.18 [text on screen] 00:09:18.21\00:09:20.27 So he says we're saved by grace through faith, 00:09:27.62\00:09:30.60 but that grace ordains us unto good works that we should 00:09:30.64\00:09:33.46 walk in those good works. Now what are some of those 00:09:33.49\00:09:36.28 good works that Paul's talking about? 00:09:36.31\00:09:38.56 Let's turn in our Bibles to that book of Ephesians that we just 00:09:38.60\00:09:40.96 quoted from. Go to Ephesians. 00:09:40.99\00:09:44.05 To get to it you go to Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 00:09:44.09\00:09:47.20 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians and then Ephesians. 00:09:47.23\00:09:50.36 So you're in Ephesians, let's go to chapter 4. 00:09:50.40\00:09:53.50 Ephesians 4:28. 00:09:53.53\00:10:01.72 Here the Bible says: [text on screen] 00:10:02.10\00:10:05.56 Paul was writing this, is there a commandment that says 00:10:09.50\00:10:12.65 "Thou shalt not steal"? Yes, so that's one of those 00:10:12.68\00:10:15.76 works that Paul's talking about, that we should walk in that; 00:10:15.80\00:10:19.95 so there's a commandment mentioned by Paul. 00:10:20.34\00:10:22.69 Let's go to another one. Let's go to Ephesians 6:1-3: 00:10:22.73\00:10:36.52 [text on screen] 00:10:36.55\00:10:39.06 Notice Paul says it IS the first commandment with promise, 00:10:44.83\00:10:47.89 Paul doesn't say it WAS the first commandment with promise, 00:10:47.93\00:10:50.96 he says it IS the first commandment with promise. 00:10:50.99\00:10:53.14 And then it goes on and he says in verse 3 [text on screen] 00:10:53.18\00:10:56.85 So is there a commandment that says: "Honor thy father" 00:10:58.84\00:11:01.43 "and thy mother"? Yes there is. 00:11:01.46\00:11:03.46 So Paul is saying that's one of those good works 00:11:03.50\00:11:05.42 that we have before ordained that we should walk in them. 00:11:05.46\00:11:08.56 We have obviously see that Paul the Apostle believed 00:11:08.59\00:11:11.75 in wanting to honor the 10 commandments. 00:11:11.78\00:11:14.50 Salvation is by grace alone, no question about that, 00:11:14.54\00:11:18.61 but nevertheless, Paul talked and wrote largely 00:11:18.64\00:11:23.75 about the 10 commandment law. If you go back some 40-50 years 00:11:23.79\00:11:28.88 in this country, the 10 commandments were upheld 00:11:28.91\00:11:32.67 in schools, they were upheld in churches, they were upheld 00:11:32.71\00:11:36.55 in courts, in almost all levels of society, but it's not 00:11:36.59\00:11:40.40 like that today, dear friends. 00:11:40.43\00:11:42.08 Today you hear a lot of things preached like this, 00:11:42.12\00:11:44.26 people will say: "Oh, those 10 commandments, they were nailed" 00:11:44.30\00:11:46.87 "to the cross, and therefore they're done away with." 00:11:46.90\00:11:48.93 Others will say: "Well, we're saved by grace, so we don't" 00:11:48.97\00:11:51.42 "need the 10 commandments anymore." 00:11:51.45\00:11:53.40 Others will say: "Jesus fulfilled the law," 00:11:53.44\00:11:55.20 "therefore we don't have to." Well friends, what about those 00:11:55.24\00:11:58.53 kinds of things, what does the Bible really have to say? 00:11:58.57\00:12:01.83 You see, all society has to have law. 00:12:01.86\00:12:04.68 If we were to walk out of here, or get in our cars 00:12:04.72\00:12:07.22 and drive home, undoubtedly you're doing to come 00:12:07.25\00:12:09.68 to a red light, I come to lots of them when I drive home 00:12:09.72\00:12:12.03 each night, and when you come to that red light that tells you 00:12:12.07\00:12:15.00 that it is the law in the city of Sacramento to do what? 00:12:15.03\00:12:18.51 That you stop. All government has to have law. 00:12:18.54\00:12:21.59 Without law you have chaos, anarchy, everybody doing 00:12:21.63\00:12:24.63 their own thing, and society crumbles. 00:12:24.66\00:12:27.26 God has law as well that there might be harmony in His universe 00:12:27.30\00:12:32.07 Do you know that the Bible tells us a very wonderful way 00:12:32.30\00:12:35.88 about how we got the law of God? 00:12:35.91\00:12:37.56 Let's go take a look, go to Exodus 31 with me. 00:12:37.60\00:12:41.25 God did not entrust this part of the Bible for man 00:12:42.29\00:12:45.68 to write down, God allowed man to write down, or pen, 00:12:45.71\00:12:49.03 the words of all the rest of the Scripture, but when it came 00:12:49.07\00:12:52.57 to the 10 commandment law, we received it 00:12:52.60\00:12:58.23 in a most marvelous way. Exodus 31:18. 00:12:58.26\00:13:03.86 And here the Bible says: [text on screen] 00:13:04.50\00:13:07.47 How very important! The law was written 00:13:20.43\00:13:22.83 with God's own finger. God did not write it on the sand 00:13:22.87\00:13:27.31 of the desert, in order that the rain might wash it away. 00:13:27.35\00:13:31.76 God did not write it on parchment paper 00:13:31.79\00:13:34.37 that it might risk being burned up or fading throughout 00:13:34.41\00:13:37.71 the centuries. God wrote it on stone 00:13:37.74\00:13:40.71 to make a point that it would never pass away. 00:13:40.75\00:13:43.40 We still use that in language: if we know that something's 00:13:43.44\00:13:46.34 not meant to last, we say: "Well it's not written in stone". 00:13:46.37\00:13:49.30 Where did we get that from? We got it right from the Bible. 00:13:49.34\00:13:52.24 On the other hand, the Devil, since he first became 00:13:52.27\00:13:56.02 a law breaker in heaven, has tried to get people 00:13:56.05\00:14:00.61 to neglect it, or reject it, or somehow do away 00:14:00.65\00:14:04.84 with the law, so that the very law breaker himself 00:14:04.88\00:14:09.30 has a lawless society here. Once again, you're hearing 00:14:09.33\00:14:13.72 a lot of things in churches today about the law, 00:14:13.75\00:14:17.02 and about how it is no longer relevant to us. 00:14:17.06\00:14:20.26 Well, there was a book written in the 1990's and it was called: 00:14:20.30\00:14:24.58 "The Day America Told the Truth." 00:14:24.61\00:14:27.31 The authors of this books went around the country 00:14:27.35\00:14:30.34 and they tried to get people to really open up about their 00:14:30.38\00:14:32.74 innermost feelings: what did they really think? 00:14:32.77\00:14:36.87 When it came to the discussion of the 10 commandments 00:14:36.91\00:14:39.99 here's what they had to say. It said: [text on screen] 00:14:40.02\00:14:43.07 So basically, what he's saying is it's like going through 00:15:20.44\00:15:23.48 a smorgasbord line where people chose food on the smorgasbord 00:15:23.52\00:15:26.53 line, they say: "I'll have a little bit of this," 00:15:26.56\00:15:28.01 "a little bit of that, I'll have some of that", 00:15:28.05\00:15:29.47 that's what they're doing with the 10 commandments. 00:15:29.50\00:15:30.90 They're saying: "Well I'll take that commandment," 00:15:30.93\00:15:32.26 "but I don't want that one, that one suits me, so okay," 00:15:32.30\00:15:34.50 "I'll have that one, but I don't want that one over there." 00:15:34.54\00:15:36.79 In other words, they're making up their own law based on 00:15:36.82\00:15:39.04 what they want rather than what God says. 00:15:39.07\00:15:41.53 Well, what's the result in our society? 00:15:41.56\00:15:43.95 It's not hard when you look at the crime statistics 00:15:43.99\00:15:46.89 to see what the result is when we throw out the law of God. 00:15:46.93\00:15:49.83 You've got: [text on screen] 00:15:49.86\00:15:51.86 All these things have skyrocketed in recent years. 00:15:52.67\00:15:56.06 Divorce is one of them, all you have to do is look 00:15:56.09\00:15:59.45 at the increase here: [text on screen] 00:15:59.48\00:16:01.60 In schools we see an incredible change. 00:16:07.63\00:16:12.18 Back in the 1940's here are the major problems that they were 00:16:12.22\00:16:15.04 talking about: [text on screen] 00:16:15.07\00:16:17.37 Those are the major problems in the 1940's, 00:16:24.60\00:16:27.12 Well, what is it today that they're dealing with in schools? 00:16:27.16\00:16:29.70 [text on screen] 00:16:29.73\00:16:31.53 Have things changed in our schools? 00:16:33.02\00:16:35.09 Absolutely! 00:16:35.12\00:16:36.28 When you throw out the law of God and it's no longer taught 00:16:36.32\00:16:40.01 there's an incredible consequence for our society. 00:16:40.04\00:16:43.15 Back in the 1940's you didn't hear the kind of vulgar 00:16:43.19\00:16:46.23 language you use now, well, there was a little bit perhaps, 00:16:46.27\00:16:48.43 but not like it is now. Children basically obeyed 00:16:48.46\00:16:51.29 their parents, crime was still there, but it wasn't anywhere 00:16:51.33\00:16:54.56 near the kind of statistics it is now. 00:16:54.59\00:16:57.24 Things have changed, and yet people'll tell you, 00:16:57.28\00:16:59.55 they'll say: "But the 10 commandments, wasn't that" 00:16:59.58\00:17:02.21 "just for the Jews? Wasn't it just for Israel?" 00:17:02.24\00:17:04.44 "It's really not for the Christian, is it?" 00:17:04.48\00:17:06.61 Well, let's go back in the Bible and let's find out. 00:17:06.65\00:17:08.80 Go to Genesis 26. 00:17:08.83\00:17:13.47 This is going back to the time of Abraham. 00:17:13.51\00:17:16.51 As you're turning there, let me share something with you: 00:17:16.55\00:17:19.24 Christians have fallen into a terrible trap, 00:17:19.27\00:17:22.82 and that is the trap of listening to what popular people 00:17:22.86\00:17:26.64 say rather than checking it out for themselves. 00:17:26.67\00:17:30.25 I didn't become a Christian to win a popularity contest, 00:17:30.29\00:17:33.53 I became a Christian to do the will of God, 00:17:33.56\00:17:35.49 how about you? 00:17:35.52\00:17:37.14 So we want to make sure that we're doing the will of God 00:17:37.18\00:17:40.93 and we find ourselves on the right side of issues 00:17:40.96\00:17:43.80 down at the end of time, because the issues of the 10 commandment 00:17:43.84\00:17:47.70 law of God, and those things that emanate from it 00:17:47.73\00:17:51.42 is going to be the deciding issue that will separate 00:17:51.45\00:17:55.11 this world before Jesus comes back. 00:17:55.14\00:17:57.20 They'll be those that are on the Lord's side, and those 00:17:57.24\00:17:59.23 that are not, and the 10 commandments will make up 00:17:59.26\00:18:02.19 the difference as to who is on what side. 00:18:02.22\00:18:04.11 We'll explore that deeper as we go into the seminar, 00:18:04.15\00:18:06.18 you will see. We go to Genesis 26:5. 00:18:06.21\00:18:09.56 When people say the law was just given to the Jews, 00:18:09.60\00:18:12.07 we go back to the Abraham, remember that Abraham lived long 00:18:12.11\00:18:16.36 before Mt. Sinai, long before Moses was given 00:18:16.39\00:18:20.80 the 10 commandments in Exodus 20. 00:18:20.83\00:18:22.90 So here we find Genesis 26:5, the Bible says: 00:18:22.94\00:18:26.47 "Because that Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge," 00:18:26.51\00:18:32.25 "My commandments, My statutes, and My laws." 00:18:32.28\00:18:36.86 So here we have Abraham, he as keeping God's commandments, 00:18:36.90\00:18:40.40 he was keeping God's law long before the time of Moses. 00:18:40.44\00:18:43.87 And before Abraham there was Lucifer himself, that old Devil 00:18:43.91\00:18:47.30 that we now call Satan, we know that the Devil was breaking 00:18:47.34\00:18:50.52 God's law, we know that he broke the first one that says: 00:18:50.55\00:18:53.29 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" because he wanted 00:18:53.32\00:18:56.03 to be like God. We know be broke the 9th one 00:18:56.06\00:18:58.18 that said: "Thou shalt no bear false witness" 00:18:58.22\00:19:00.27 because he deceived 1 thirds of the angels in heaven. 00:19:00.31\00:19:03.38 We know that he broke the 10th one that says 00:19:03.41\00:19:05.08 "Thou shalt not covet" because he coveted the throne of God. 00:19:05.12\00:19:07.21 I believe he broke all of them, but nevertheless, 00:19:07.24\00:19:10.15 there was Satan, the old lawbreaker, and Satan, 00:19:10.18\00:19:13.50 because of his disobedience, lost out on heaven. 00:19:13.54\00:19:16.79 In other words, Satan was the highest ranking angel there 00:19:16.83\00:19:21.90 by the throne of God, and because of his rebellion 00:19:21.93\00:19:25.66 he spread it around to 1 third of the angels, 00:19:25.69\00:19:28.31 they became deceived with his craftiness of rebellion, 00:19:28.35\00:19:31.56 and God had to finally draw the line, and those 1 third 00:19:31.59\00:19:34.77 of rebellious angels were cast out. 00:19:34.80\00:19:37.03 I want you to think about it with me: if God cast 00:19:37.07\00:19:41.42 1 third of the angels out of heaven, as well as the highest 00:19:41.46\00:19:45.40 ranking angel in heaven because of their rebellion against 00:19:45.43\00:19:49.34 the law of heaven, what makes human beings think 00:19:49.37\00:19:52.02 that they're going to go walking right into heaven 00:19:52.05\00:19:54.67 if they have the same spirit of rebellion? 00:19:54.70\00:19:57.29 It won't be, dear friends, it will not be. 00:19:57.32\00:19:59.84 The Lord is helping us to see the principles of heaven now 00:19:59.88\00:20:02.89 so we will be happy there, amen? 00:20:02.92\00:20:06.32 Adam and Eve, they lost out on the Garden of Eden 00:20:06.36\00:20:08.95 because of their disobedience. They lost out on their 00:20:08.98\00:20:12.48 wonderful homeland because they did not want to obey 00:20:12.52\00:20:15.99 the law of God as God asked them to. 00:20:16.02\00:20:18.36 I'm going to ask you a question: do you love truth? 00:20:18.40\00:20:21.00 - [Audience replies] Amen. - Say it even louder than that 00:20:21.04\00:20:22.59 for me. [Audience replies louder] Amen. 00:20:22.62\00:20:24.45 Alright, thank you. Now let's go to another text, 00:20:24.49\00:20:27.32 lets go to Psalm 119:142. 00:20:27.35\00:20:30.90 It's so good to be in a room full of people that love truth 00:20:33.80\00:20:35.93 and we're going to look at some truth tonight. 00:20:35.96\00:20:38.70 Psalm 119:142: [text on screen] 00:20:38.73\00:20:43.54 So if you love truth then you've got to love God's law 00:20:53.97\00:20:57.18 because the Bible equates the 2, it says the law is the truth. 00:20:57.22\00:21:00.87 We're right by another real good passage, 00:21:00.90\00:21:02.42 let's go to verse 151, same book of the Bible, same chapter, 00:21:02.46\00:21:06.39 go to verse 151. Here it says: [text on screen] 00:21:06.42\00:21:10.12 So again, if you love the truth, you've go to love God's 00:21:15.13\00:21:17.10 commandments because the Bible says that commandments 00:21:17.13\00:21:19.07 are the truth. As long as we follow Jesus 00:21:19.10\00:21:21.33 we know that we're going to find ourselves truth 00:21:21.37\00:21:24.34 because Jesus says: "I am the way, the truth and the life." 00:21:24.38\00:21:27.58 So no matter what topic it is, whether it's a topic on death, 00:21:27.61\00:21:30.78 a topic on hell - as we had our last night, 00:21:30.81\00:21:33.09 or the topic tonight, we are going to look at the words 00:21:33.13\00:21:36.72 of Jesus whenever possible, so let's go to Matthew 5. 00:21:36.76\00:21:40.87 What about this idea of grace doing away with the law? 00:21:40.91\00:21:44.95 What about this idea that grace somehow supercedes the law, 00:21:44.99\00:21:48.81 and therefore it's not important any more. 00:21:48.84\00:21:50.42 Well, we're going to look at the words of Jesus, 00:21:50.46\00:21:52.06 now the words of Jesus are so clear we can't miss it. 00:21:52.10\00:21:57.93 Matthew 5:17, Jesus said: [text on screen] 00:21:57.97\00:22:02.12 We'll look more closely our next night what that word 00:22:08.30\00:22:10.81 "fulfill" means; He says: [text on screen] 00:22:10.84\00:22:14.08 Jesus is clearly talking about the 10 commandments 00:22:34.13\00:22:36.49 because He goes on in verse 21 about "Thou shalt not kill", 00:22:36.53\00:22:39.50 and verse 27 He says "Thou shalt no commit adultery", 00:22:39.53\00:22:41.76 so He's quoting from the 10 commandments, and yet 00:22:41.80\00:22:44.61 there are many people today, and a lot of ministers 00:22:44.64\00:22:47.38 that are so compromised in their own beliefs that they go around 00:22:47.42\00:22:50.89 teaching that you can do away with the 10 commandments 00:22:50.92\00:22:53.68 in spite of what Jesus said right here in this passage. 00:22:53.72\00:22:56.45 Even though Jesus said the heaven and earth 00:22:56.48\00:22:58.11 will pass away before the the 10 commandments do. 00:22:58.15\00:23:00.52 God has an absolute standard. God has something secure 00:23:00.56\00:23:06.36 to put your feet on that's not going to move, 00:23:06.39\00:23:08.86 and Jesus upheld the 10 commandments in His own life 00:23:08.90\00:23:13.47 and in His teaching. Turn with me to Psalm 111:7: 00:23:13.50\00:23:18.04 [text on screen] 00:23:18.07\00:23:19.74 "verity and judgment" - that means truth and judgment, 00:23:20.30\00:23:23.16 "a few of His commandments are sure." 00:23:23.19\00:23:25.62 [Audience] All! 00:23:25.65\00:23:26.62 "The works of His hands are verity and judgment;" 00:23:26.63\00:23:30.40 "most of His commandments are sure." 00:23:30.43\00:23:32.64 [Audience] All! 00:23:32.67\00:23:34.54 I still didn't get it right? 00:23:34.58\00:23:36.98 You know, I do need glasses. 00:23:37.02\00:23:39.96 Okay, right, let me try again. 00:23:39.99\00:23:42.86 Ahh, there we are. [reads text on screen] 00:23:42.90\00:23:46.24 They stand fast for how long? For ever and ever, 00:23:52.62\00:23:55.79 "and are done in truth and uprightness." 00:23:55.82\00:23:57.94 Now in verse 10, I love this verse, it says: 00:23:57.98\00:24:00.07 [text on screen] 00:24:00.10\00:24:01.89 Do you want wisdom tonight like I do? 00:24:01.93\00:24:04.00 Sure. It says: [text on screen] 00:24:04.03\00:24:06.51 Now that's clear dear friends. God is saying the commandments 00:24:10.12\00:24:13.06 are going to stand for ever and ever. 00:24:13.09\00:24:14.60 Some people say: "Well I thought that the 10 commandments" 00:24:14.64\00:24:18.07 "was just for the Jews because God gave them to Moses" 00:24:18.10\00:24:21.50 "and the Israelites there on Mt. Sinai," 00:24:21.53\00:24:23.52 "so wasn't it just for them?" 00:24:23.55\00:24:25.46 Well, I'm going to ask you a question: 00:24:25.50\00:24:26.88 who else was God going to give them to at the time? 00:24:26.92\00:24:30.57 Was God going to give them to the Philistines? 00:24:30.60\00:24:33.35 The idol worshipping Amalekites? 00:24:33.38\00:24:35.58 The Hittites, or some of these other pagan nations 00:24:35.62\00:24:38.13 that were worshipping false gods? 00:24:38.16\00:24:40.10 Of course not, God was raising up a people 00:24:40.14\00:24:42.90 that He could then bestow... what's the word I'm looking for? 00:24:42.94\00:24:50.89 Stewards! that's right, thank you, 00:24:51.58\00:24:53.28 with the word of God that they can then take the knowledge 00:24:53.32\00:24:56.90 of that throughout the world. 00:24:56.93\00:24:59.45 So in other words, God was raising up a people that had 00:24:59.49\00:25:01.90 a heart and mind to love and obey Him, 00:25:01.93\00:25:06.09 and that's why Abraham is called the father of the faithful. 00:25:06.13\00:25:09.10 Do you know that when you look at the great messages 00:25:09.13\00:25:11.20 of the Old Testament, you know: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel... 00:25:11.24\00:25:15.74 they were given to the Jews, and almost everything that Jesus 00:25:15.78\00:25:20.13 spoke was spoken to the Jews. Jesus Himself said salvation 00:25:20.17\00:25:24.24 is of the Jews, the new covenant in the Bible is said to be 00:25:24.27\00:25:28.33 made with the house of Israel. In fact, every single writer 00:25:28.37\00:25:32.40 of the Old Testament was a Jew, every single writer 00:25:32.43\00:25:35.02 of the New Testament, with the possible exception of Luke, 00:25:35.06\00:25:37.86 was a Jew, and yet, does the Christian think that somehow 00:25:37.89\00:25:40.39 because of all of that we're outside the plan of salvation? 00:25:40.42\00:25:42.89 Of course not! Well, why are we not outside 00:25:42.92\00:25:45.99 the plan of salvation when all of that is talked about 00:25:46.03\00:25:47.99 with the Jews? Because the Bible student 00:25:48.02\00:25:50.40 realizes, and we'll talk about it more a week from now, 00:25:50.44\00:25:53.70 that the Christian is a spiritual Israelite. 00:25:53.73\00:25:57.47 In other words, the Bible says in Galatians 3:29: 00:25:57.51\00:26:00.16 "If you are Christ's" - that means if you are a converted 00:26:00.20\00:26:02.90 Christians, "then you are Abraham's seed", 00:26:02.93\00:26:06.62 Abraham's spiritual child," and heirs according to the promise." 00:26:06.66\00:26:11.95 Galatians 3:7 says "that they which are of faith," 00:26:11.98\00:26:15.20 "the same are the children of Abraham." 00:26:15.23\00:26:17.78 So friends, if you belong to Jesus Christ, 00:26:17.82\00:26:20.19 you are of the spiritual lineage of Abraham, 00:26:20.22\00:26:22.52 isn't that wonderful? And that is the beautiful thing 00:26:22.56\00:26:25.56 because then the Christians inherit the promises, 00:26:25.60\00:26:28.53 the blessings, and the responsibilities that were once 00:26:28.57\00:26:31.81 given to ancient Israel. 00:26:31.84\00:26:33.71 Now, if you are not convinced by that, we are going to have 00:26:33.75\00:26:37.30 a study a week from now, and you're going to see 00:26:37.33\00:26:38.90 how beautifully the Bible teaches that, 00:26:38.93\00:26:41.07 but the 10 commandments was not something that was given 00:26:41.11\00:26:44.06 to a nomadic tribe back there in the Old Testament only, 00:26:44.09\00:26:47.01 the 10 commandments are the eternal cohesive glue 00:26:47.04\00:26:53.52 that is to binds society together. 00:26:53.55\00:26:55.74 If you throw off the 10 commandments, 00:26:55.78\00:26:57.90 you have absolutely no understanding of what is right 00:26:57.94\00:26:59.82 and what is wrong. You, perhaps, have heard 00:26:59.85\00:27:02.26 of Dr. James Dobson, founder and speaker of "Focus on the Family" 00:27:02.30\00:27:05.71 I want you to see what he had to say here, he says: 00:27:05.74\00:27:08.31 [text on screen] 00:27:08.34\00:27:10.31 Then he goes on: [text on screen] 00:27:12.32\00:27:14.82 "antiquity" - he's speaking about the 10 commandments, 00:27:15.27\00:27:17.87 Well, now he would say probably 40 years, but nevertheless 00:27:20.91\00:27:23.85 he says: [text on screen] 00:27:23.88\00:27:25.74 Now let's ask a very simple question here, 00:27:32.20\00:27:35.27 I know it's very basic, but help me out anyway: 00:27:35.31\00:27:37.81 how many of you agree with me tonight that there is sin 00:27:37.85\00:27:40.76 in our world, if you believe that then raise your hand. 00:27:40.79\00:27:43.67 I think that's just about everybody, thank you. 00:27:43.70\00:27:46.67 So if we all agree that there is sin, then we ask ourselves 00:27:46.71\00:27:50.03 the question: what is sin? We see it all around us, 00:27:50.06\00:27:53.32 we agree it's here, but what exactly is it? 00:27:53.35\00:27:55.81 Let's let the Bible give us the answer, shall we, 00:27:55.85\00:27:58.14 go to 1 John 3. That's the epistle of John 00:27:58.17\00:28:01.92 near the back of the Bible, 1 John 3. 00:28:01.95\00:28:05.08 Here in 1 John 3 we're going to get the clearest definition 00:28:05.12\00:28:09.65 of what sin is in the entire Bible, it's precise, it's clear. 00:28:09.69\00:28:14.19 1 John 3:4: [text on screen] 00:28:14.22\00:28:17.71 That word "transgression" is a kind of a big word, 00:28:30.55\00:28:32.86 so we go to Webster's dictionary to help us out to what exactly 00:28:32.90\00:28:35.31 transgression means? The word "transgression" means: 00:28:35.34\00:28:38.11 [text on screen] 00:28:38.14\00:28:40.20 So now it's talking about the breaking of a law, 00:28:42.10\00:28:43.70 but it's talking about God's law. 00:28:43.73\00:28:46.46 So based on that verse, follow along carefully with me, 00:28:46.50\00:28:50.29 based on that verse in 1 John 3:4 it's impossible, 00:28:50.32\00:28:54.44 Biblically, for the law of God to be done away with 00:28:54.48\00:28:58.57 at this time because the Bible says that sin 00:28:58.60\00:29:02.06 is a transgression of the law, and so if we have sin with us 00:29:02.10\00:29:05.25 today that means we must have law with us today 00:29:05.28\00:29:08.42 because sin is the breaking of the law. 00:29:08.45\00:29:11.40 Let me try to give you an example of this: 00:29:12.32\00:29:14.69 if you had no speed limit laws, could you get a speeding ticket? 00:29:14.73\00:29:18.54 No, you couldn't. In order to get 00:29:18.57\00:29:20.26 a speeding ticket there has to be some kind of law 00:29:20.30\00:29:22.96 that you've broken. It's the same way with God; 00:29:22.99\00:29:25.59 in order for you to sin there has to be some kind 00:29:25.63\00:29:28.21 of moral code that you have broken, because that's 00:29:28.25\00:29:30.97 what sin is all about. So again, the fact that 00:29:31.01\00:29:33.66 the world is so full of sin proves beyond any shadow 00:29:33.70\00:29:36.80 of a doubt that we must have God's law with us, 00:29:36.83\00:29:39.56 because that's what sin is: the breaking of God's law. 00:29:39.60\00:29:44.08 Let's go to another one in the New Testament, 00:29:44.11\00:29:47.42 let's go to Romans 4, here Paul says basically 00:29:47.45\00:29:50.73 the exact same thing. 00:29:50.76\00:29:53.47 Romans 4:15. 00:29:53.50\00:29:59.37 Here Paul says: [text on screen] 00:29:59.41\00:30:03.27 You see, dear friends, Jesus would never have had to come 00:30:08.56\00:30:11.45 down here and die if God could have simply done away 00:30:11.48\00:30:14.60 with His law. 00:30:14.63\00:30:16.68 Because when Adam first sin, God was basically left 00:30:16.72\00:30:20.32 with 3 choices: God could have killed Adam on the spot 00:30:20.36\00:30:23.93 for his sin because the wages of sin is death, 00:30:23.96\00:30:27.76 and He could have chosen to carry it out immediately. 00:30:27.80\00:30:30.05 But God says: "No, I love Adam too much." 00:30:30.08\00:30:32.26 "I don't want to see him perish." 00:30:32.29\00:30:34.07 You say: "Well, what other options are there?" 00:30:34.11\00:30:35.86 Well, God could have done away with the law because then 00:30:35.90\00:30:37.78 if He'd done away with the law then Adam didn't do 00:30:37.81\00:30:40.11 anything wrong, but He couldn't do away with the law 00:30:40.14\00:30:42.37 because for those who understand it, and you'll see in our next 00:30:42.41\00:30:44.79 night together, that the law of God is simply and expression 00:30:44.83\00:30:47.18 of the character of God, it's the character of God 00:30:47.21\00:30:49.56 written out for all to understand. 00:30:49.59\00:30:52.31 So God can't do away with the law any more than He can do 00:30:52.35\00:30:54.80 away with His own nature, so God says: 00:30:54.83\00:30:56.78 "No, I can't do away with the law, that's impossible," 00:30:56.82\00:31:00.12 "and I love Adam too much to kill him," 00:31:00.15\00:31:02.95 "so option #3, I, the Creator, God, the very one" 00:31:02.99\00:31:08.41 "who wrote the law of God, the very one who brought Adam" 00:31:08.45\00:31:10.97 "into existence", God says, "I will humble Myself" 00:31:11.00\00:31:17.71 "and come down to this dark, dreary world," 00:31:17.74\00:31:20.30 and the Creator will die on the cross and take Adam's sin, 00:31:20.34\00:31:26.39 and Eve's sin, and your sin, and my sin upon Himself. 00:31:26.42\00:31:32.03 And that's why they call it amazing grace 00:31:32.06\00:31:34.42 because God chose to take that 3rd option, 00:31:34.45\00:31:36.78 though He did not have to. 00:31:36.81\00:31:38.38 That leads us to the next question: 00:31:38.42\00:31:40.66 what is the purpose of the law? 00:31:40.70\00:31:42.87 What exact role does God's law play for us? 00:31:42.91\00:31:46.32 Would you turn with me to Romans 3:20. 00:31:46.35\00:31:53.62 Romans 3:20, the Bible says: [text on screen] 00:31:54.54\00:31:59.29 Now, 2 important points are brought out here, isn't it? 00:32:11.30\00:32:13.68 It says no one's justified by the keeping of the law, 00:32:13.72\00:32:16.07 we'll we've brought that out already in the seminar, 00:32:16.10\00:32:18.31 because if you could be justified by the keeping 00:32:18.35\00:32:20.38 of the law, then we wouldn't need a saviour. 00:32:20.42\00:32:22.38 So we know that we're saved by grace through Jesus, 00:32:22.42\00:32:25.12 we're clothes with His righteousness, which is a free 00:32:25.15\00:32:27.90 gift unto us, we've covered that thoroughly on night #3, 00:32:27.93\00:32:30.65 and on other nights we've talked about it. 00:32:30.68\00:32:32.16 So the law can't save us, but the law was not designed to save 00:32:32.20\00:32:34.66 us friends, it says right here in the text the law 00:32:34.69\00:32:37.34 gives a knowledge of sin, it tells us what we should 00:32:37.38\00:32:40.00 and should not do. It's like the red light 00:32:40.03\00:32:41.94 that I talked to you about earlier. 00:32:41.97\00:32:43.28 I could drive my vehicle up to that red light 00:32:43.32\00:32:46.85 doing 50 miles an hour, and the light turns red there, 00:32:46.89\00:32:52.04 can the light actually, physically, stop my car? 00:32:52.07\00:32:56.10 No, it gives me a knowledge of what I aught to do, 00:32:56.14\00:32:59.81 I aught to stop, but it can't physically stop my car 00:32:59.84\00:33:03.48 because it's not designed to do that. 00:33:03.51\00:33:05.33 It's just designed to tell me what I should or what 00:33:05.37\00:33:07.41 I should not do. To illustrate this 00:33:07.44\00:33:10.42 in a wonderful way, go to James 1. 00:33:10.45\00:33:13.36 The Bible is so practical in this, and it's beautiful 00:33:13.40\00:33:15.76 to follow the line of thinking that God gives us 00:33:15.79\00:33:18.60 through His word here. James 1:22. 00:33:18.63\00:33:26.48 Here we're told: [text on screen] 00:33:28.36\00:33:30.99 That's good council for our day and age, isn't it? 00:33:36.80\00:33:39.33 Because it's the same council that Paul wrote over there 00:33:39.37\00:33:43.02 in Romans, be a doer of the word, not a hearer of the word, 00:33:43.05\00:33:46.67 Paul says it, James says it, let's go on to verse 23: 00:33:46.70\00:33:50.78 [text on screen] 00:33:50.81\00:33:52.81 "a glass" there means mirror. 00:33:59.38\00:34:02.40 [continues to read] 00:34:02.43\00:34:04.66 James says you've got to continue in the word, 00:34:20.65\00:34:23.91 you can't just be in the word a little bit, and then 00:34:23.95\00:34:26.15 all of a sudden go away from it and think that things 00:34:26.19\00:34:28.36 are going to be the same. If I decided I don't want to 00:34:28.40\00:34:30.66 preach any more, I'm just going to leave you for a while, 00:34:30.69\00:34:32.92 so I go off into the world and I'm going to lay down 00:34:32.95\00:34:35.70 my Bible, I'm not going to read it, 00:34:35.73\00:34:37.37 and as I go off into the world and do my own thing, 00:34:37.41\00:34:40.06 I'm not going to pay attention to what God says and the word, 00:34:40.10\00:34:42.50 I'm not going to pay attention to any of the Scripture 00:34:42.53\00:34:44.74 admonition for my life, I'm just going to do 00:34:44.77\00:34:46.76 my own thing and go my own way, and then one day 00:34:46.79\00:34:48.71 I wake up and I say: "You know, maybe I don't want that way" 00:34:48.75\00:34:51.83 "of life any more, maybe I'm just going to come back" 00:34:51.86\00:34:54.06 "and pick up my Bible and start to preach," 00:34:54.09\00:34:56.38 "and just pretend that nothing ever happened, and it's all" 00:34:56.42\00:34:58.37 "the way it used to be." Okay, so I've been 00:34:58.40\00:35:02.41 off in the world, and I come back and I haven't been reading 00:35:02.45\00:35:08.00 my Bible, haven't been obeying the word of God, 00:35:08.03\00:35:11.46 but I'm just going to pretend that during the time that 00:35:11.50\00:35:14.44 I was away from God's law that nothing ever happened. 00:35:14.48\00:35:17.39 You are looking at me very funny! 00:35:19.84\00:35:22.31 [Audience laughs] 00:35:22.34\00:35:24.39 What's the matter? 00:35:24.43\00:35:26.45 I've got dirt on my face says the young man here. 00:35:27.77\00:35:29.96 You're all very nice people, but how do I know you're not 00:35:30.00\00:35:32.27 just kidding me? 00:35:32.30\00:35:34.07 How do I know you're not just kidding me? 00:35:34.11\00:35:35.08 If I really want to know my condition, what do I need? 00:35:35.09\00:35:38.18 A mirror, that's right, what James says: 00:35:38.21\00:35:39.53 you've got to look in the mirror and continue, 00:35:39.57\00:35:41.50 well it's a good thing I brought the mirror. 00:35:41.54\00:35:43.40 So I brought the mirror. I know that you're lovely people 00:35:43.44\00:35:45.44 and I really do want to trust you with all my heart, 00:35:45.47\00:35:47.78 but there's something about a mirror that you just know 00:35:47.82\00:35:50.51 it's going to give you an accurate reflection of yourself. 00:35:50.54\00:35:54.04 So I take this mirror, and I decide to look into it... 00:35:54.07\00:35:57.54 Ohhh! 00:35:57.57\00:35:59.08 That's pretty bad, isn't it? 00:35:59.46\00:36:01.51 I've got some options here. I can say: 00:36:01.55\00:36:04.27 "You rotten, dirty mirror! How dare you show me" 00:36:04.31\00:36:07.83 "I have a dirty face!" I can take it and fling it 00:36:07.86\00:36:11.53 across the room, but I've got a question for you: 00:36:11.56\00:36:15.20 does that change my condition? No. 00:36:15.23\00:36:18.17 Do you abolish dirt by destroying all the mirrors 00:36:18.21\00:36:20.45 in the country? No. 00:36:20.48\00:36:22.61 The mirror has done me a favor, has it not? 00:36:22.65\00:36:25.17 The mirror gives me an accurate reflection of my condition. 00:36:25.21\00:36:29.27 So, I know that the mirror tells me that I've got 00:36:29.30\00:36:31.71 a problem, but can the mirror actually clean my face? No. 00:36:31.75\00:36:35.30 The mirror wasn't designed for that, was it? 00:36:35.33\00:36:37.14 It wasn't designed to do the cleansing, it was designed 00:36:37.18\00:36:39.70 to give me a knowledge of my condition. 00:36:39.73\00:36:41.44 So, no, the mirror can't cleanse my face. 00:36:41.47\00:36:43.11 I've got to put that down, and I've got to go to a place 00:36:43.15\00:36:46.42 of cleansing, and I hope you're picking up the analogy here 00:36:46.45\00:36:49.69 really well. So I go to a place of cleansing, 00:36:49.72\00:36:52.91 I bet you were wondering what this was doing up here 00:36:52.95\00:36:54.50 all this time. 00:36:54.53\00:36:56.92 Here we go, scuze me. 00:36:57.79\00:37:00.72 That feels so good, I should do that every night up here. 00:37:07.02\00:37:09.38 [Audience laughs] 00:37:09.41\00:37:12.00 Alright. 00:37:17.55\00:37:19.07 How many say my face is clean? 00:37:19.77\00:37:22.29 That's about half of you. Okay... 00:37:24.40\00:37:28.05 ...you're good people, and I want to believe you, 00:37:30.90\00:37:33.66 but for me to really know whether my face is clean, 00:37:33.69\00:37:36.42 what do I need? [Audience] A mirror. 00:37:36.45\00:37:38.69 The same mirror? Good thing I didn't 00:37:38.72\00:37:40.93 throw it away. 00:37:40.96\00:37:42.67 So I take this mirror, and I decide to take a look into it 00:37:43.28\00:37:46.63 again. 00:37:46.66\00:37:48.47 Folks, that's about as clean as it gets. 00:37:51.70\00:37:53.74 [Audience laughs] 00:37:53.77\00:37:56.10 [Audience laughs] 00:37:58.55\00:38:00.36 Now hear, let me tell you something: 00:38:00.40\00:38:04.61 the same mirror that told me my face is dirty 00:38:04.65\00:38:08.18 now tells me the problem has been corrected, amen? 00:38:08.22\00:38:11.92 You see, the mirror was still necessary, the mirror 00:38:11.96\00:38:16.29 is our friend, now let me give you a more practical 00:38:16.33\00:38:20.30 illustration in the sense that let's say I'm a thief 00:38:20.34\00:38:24.28 and I've been stealing from place to place. 00:38:24.31\00:38:27.47 Now I come to the law of God and I realize that the law of God 00:38:27.51\00:38:31.45 says "Thou shalt not steal", so it shows me an accurate 00:38:31.48\00:38:35.48 reflection of myself, it shows me I've got sin in my life, 00:38:35.51\00:38:39.48 but the law of God can't take away my stealing, 00:38:39.51\00:38:41.69 all it can do is show me my sinful self. 00:38:41.72\00:38:45.78 So I come to Jesus, and there I come to Jesus and I cast myself 00:38:45.96\00:38:49.83 upon Him and I confess my sin, and He clothes me 00:38:49.86\00:38:52.82 in His righteousness, which is the wonderful, 00:38:52.86\00:38:55.96 free gift of heaven, and thereafter clothing me 00:38:56.00\00:38:58.76 in His righteousness I follow up with what it says 00:38:58.79\00:39:01.52 in 1 John 1:12: [text on screen] 00:39:01.55\00:39:04.43 So I'm believing in Jesus' name, He empowers me 00:39:10.12\00:39:13.72 to live above my sin, He has clothed me in His righteousness 00:39:13.76\00:39:17.33 and now I come back to the same 10 commandment law 00:39:17.36\00:39:21.01 that I've looked before, and the law has not changed, 00:39:21.04\00:39:24.60 it still says "Thou shalt not steal", and I can say 00:39:24.63\00:39:28.12 "because of Jesus Christ, my righteousness, I am clean." 00:39:28.16\00:39:33.28 Clean from the sin that my dirty face represented. 00:39:33.31\00:39:36.44 That's why in Romans 8:1 it says: [text on screen] 00:39:36.48\00:39:39.58 Why dear friends? Because Holy Spirit filled 00:39:46.44\00:39:49.47 Christians become doers of the law, and not hearers only. 00:39:49.51\00:39:55.33 People will says: "Didn't Jesus teach that all we have to do" 00:39:55.37\00:40:00.13 "is love? We don't need 10 commandments if we love, do we?" 00:40:00.17\00:40:04.90 Well, where do they get that from? 00:40:04.93\00:40:06.36 Let's go to Matthew 22 and take a look. 00:40:06.40\00:40:09.80 In Matthew 22 the young ruler came to Jesus 00:40:09.83\00:40:13.16 and said this, starting in verse 36: [text on screen] 00:40:13.20\00:40:15.94 So this is Jesus' response to him, and then He says: 00:40:28.22\00:40:31.66 [text on screen] 00:40:31.69\00:40:33.67 Let me pause there, do you know how many people 00:40:44.65\00:40:47.42 read this a different way? This is how it reads in 00:40:47.46\00:40:50.18 the Bible, but this is how they apply it, they say: 00:40:50.21\00:40:52.86 "On these 2 commandments drop all the law and the prophets", 00:40:52.90\00:40:57.62 or they may say it like this: "On these 2 commandments" 00:40:57.65\00:41:00.23 "destroy all the law and the prophets." 00:41:00.26\00:41:02.92 In other words, they say because of Jesus saying love God 00:41:02.96\00:41:05.07 and love your neighbour all of a sudden you don't need 00:41:05.10\00:41:07.18 the 10 commandments. Friends, it's absurd. 00:41:07.21\00:41:11.24 What Jesus is saying here is that on these 2 principles, 00:41:11.28\00:41:15.42 love to God and love to your fellow man, 00:41:15.45\00:41:18.93 all the 10 commandments are hanging there. 00:41:18.97\00:41:22.38 The first 4 commandments teach us our love and duty to God, 00:41:22.42\00:41:25.24 the last 6 commandments teaches our love and our duty 00:41:25.27\00:41:27.73 to each other, but all of them are hanging there. 00:41:27.77\00:41:30.20 None of them have been done away with, 00:41:30.23\00:41:31.94 none of them have disappeared, they're all hanging on 2; 00:41:31.98\00:41:35.56 the 10 are hanging on 2 great principles of love to God. 00:41:35.60\00:41:39.15 Basically what He's saying is the entire law 00:41:39.18\00:41:41.83 can be summarized in this way: [text on screen] 00:41:41.87\00:41:44.49 That's why Paul says in Romans 13:10 that love 00:41:47.35\00:41:51.25 is the fulfilling of the law. 00:41:51.28\00:41:53.71 Do you know that most people that speak against 00:41:53.75\00:41:55.14 the 10 commandments, I would have to bet that they probably 00:41:55.18\00:41:57.47 don't even know where it is in the Bible, 00:41:57.50\00:41:59.66 and the reason I say that is a lot of people are down 00:41:59.70\00:42:01.94 on what they're not up on. 00:42:01.97\00:42:04.50 Have you ever heard that before? 00:42:04.54\00:42:05.51 "They're down on what they're not up on." 00:42:05.52\00:42:07.13 What do I mean by that? That means they condemn 00:42:07.17\00:42:09.71 that which they don't understand. 00:42:09.74\00:42:12.22 They don't understand it, but they're willing to condemn it. 00:42:12.26\00:42:15.77 Let's go take a brief look, ever so brief because of time, 00:42:15.81\00:42:19.29 at the 10 commandments. I'm going to ask you: 00:42:19.32\00:42:21.43 is there anything wrong with God's 10 commandments? 00:42:21.47\00:42:23.54 Let's put them up on the screen. 00:42:23.57\00:42:25.47 The first on says: [text on screen] 00:42:25.50\00:42:27.37 When you put God first in your life, isn't it true 00:42:28.69\00:42:31.02 that all things fall in their proper place then? 00:42:31.05\00:42:33.35 Nothing wrong with that first commandment. 00:42:33.38\00:42:35.53 Let's look at the second one: [text on screen] 00:42:35.56\00:42:37.68 You see that last part there where it says "love Me," 00:43:03.99\00:43:06.77 "and keep My commandments", those 2 things are found 00:43:06.80\00:43:09.55 together in the Bible over and over again. 00:43:09.58\00:43:13.70 Love and obedience... In fact, the entire Bible 00:43:13.74\00:43:16.93 can be summarized in those 2 words - love and obedience. 00:43:16.97\00:43:20.37 So you will see them, God is saying: "I keep covenant" 00:43:20.41\00:43:23.74 "and I show mercy unto those that love Me enough to obey Me." 00:43:23.78\00:43:28.62 Aren't you thankful that we can go right to Jesus by faith, 00:43:28.66\00:43:33.47 and not have to make our own idols and things 00:43:33.50\00:43:36.15 out of plaster of Paris, and wood, and all these other 00:43:36.19\00:43:38.78 materials like the pagans do? Isn't it amazing 00:43:38.81\00:43:43.00 that we, simply by faith, can send our prayers 00:43:43.03\00:43:47.19 and reach the throne of God? 00:43:47.22\00:43:49.76 Friends, there's billions of people that are dying 00:43:49.80\00:43:52.24 to know this commandment. Let's look at another one. 00:43:52.27\00:43:54.68 #3, it says: [text on screen] 00:43:54.71\00:43:57.26 This commandment is so deep in meaning that you could 00:44:02.69\00:44:06.04 take an entire night just to talk on that 1 commandment. 00:44:06.08\00:44:09.40 Isn't it amazing today that many people have taken 00:44:09.43\00:44:12.30 the name of God in a derogatory way, and its almost 00:44:12.33\00:44:15.17 acceptable profanity to use the name of God 00:44:15.20\00:44:18.38 and the Jesus. You hear it all the time. 00:44:18.41\00:44:21.52 You hear it amongst the people, you hear it in movies, 00:44:21.56\00:44:24.75 and they take the name of God so loosely upon their lips, 00:44:24.79\00:44:27.95 and it's considered acceptable. 00:44:27.98\00:44:30.68 Even Christians do it, only Christians use euphemisms 00:44:30.72\00:44:36.77 without knowing it. What's a euphemism? 00:44:36.80\00:44:38.60 A euphemism is a substitute, so Christians say: 00:44:38.64\00:44:43.12 gosh, golly, Geez, jee wizz, those are euphemisms 00:44:43.15\00:44:46.59 for the name of God. Look it up in the dictionary 00:44:46.63\00:44:50.00 and it'll tell you that. We should wee those things out 00:44:50.04\00:44:52.74 of our vocabulary, Jesus said: "Let your yea be yea," 00:44:52.78\00:44:55.45 "and you nay, nay." Amen? 00:44:55.48\00:44:57.71 We don't need to use those kind of things, 00:44:57.75\00:44:59.06 that's what the worldling does. Anyway, let's go on; 00:44:59.10\00:45:01.99 we need to have more respect for the name of God. 00:45:02.03\00:45:04.89 #4- [text on screen] 00:45:04.92\00:45:07.15 You know, we live in a society when the Devil has 00:45:27.51\00:45:32.07 this generation under the hammer 7 days a week. 00:45:32.11\00:45:36.60 People are working around the clock and around the week, 00:45:36.64\00:45:39.53 all the time, getting ulcers and heart attacks, 00:45:39.56\00:45:42.77 and stress, high blood pressure, 00:45:42.80\00:45:46.86 and all of these kinds of things, and God is saying 00:45:46.90\00:45:49.25 "It aught not to be, and I didn't design" 00:45:49.28\00:45:51.55 "the human beings to work 7 days a week." 00:45:51.58\00:45:53.78 God says: "I've given you 1 holiday every single week," 00:45:53.82\00:45:56.73 "to come and meet with Me and recoup, and regroup," 00:45:56.77\00:45:59.65 "and restore your spiritual batteries." 00:45:59.68\00:46:03.03 Time with God, isn't that really what heaven is all about? 00:46:03.07\00:46:05.79 Isn't that why we're looking forward to heaven? 00:46:05.82\00:46:07.39 So we can be with our Creator? And God says: 00:46:07.43\00:46:09.19 "You can be with Me in a special way one day," 00:46:09.23\00:46:10.92 "every single week, I've got an appointment for you to meet." 00:46:10.96\00:46:13.72 Friends, we need more of that commandment. 00:46:13.75\00:46:16.20 Let's go to another one, #5: [text on screen] 00:46:16.23\00:46:18.65 Isn't it true today that children are often trying 00:46:23.13\00:46:25.82 to run the home? And children are rebelling 00:46:25.85\00:46:28.12 and telling their parents what to do, 00:46:28.15\00:46:29.84 and that makes them rebel against authority and society, 00:46:29.88\00:46:32.52 all these kinds of things. We need a lot more of that 00:46:32.55\00:46:35.16 commandment! 00:46:35.19\00:46:36.83 The next one says: "Thou shalt not kill". 00:46:36.87\00:46:39.36 In this country alone, there is on average, some 21,000 murders, 00:46:39.40\00:46:44.90 or we could say homicides, every single year. 00:46:44.93\00:46:47.58 Sometimes it's 23,000, but it's somewhere between 20,000-23,000 00:46:47.62\00:46:51.47 every single year. Think what a difference it would 00:46:51.50\00:46:53.86 be in this country if everyone kept that commandment. 00:46:53.90\00:46:56.23 The next one: "Thou shalt not commit adultery". 00:46:56.26\00:46:58.14 Again, this really is necessary for our day, is it not? 00:46:58.18\00:47:02.82 When you've got homes breaking up, 00:47:02.85\00:47:05.26 and of course, the terrible effects upon the children, 00:47:05.30\00:47:08.09 and a spread of disease, many of it for this very reason. 00:47:08.12\00:47:10.88 We need the 10 commandments as much a ever before, 00:47:10.91\00:47:14.06 what do you say? Amen? 00:47:14.09\00:47:15.49 Okay, let's look at another one: [text on screen] 00:47:15.53\00:47:17.38 I wish everyone kept this commandment. 00:47:18.60\00:47:21.28 When I was a young boy we didn't lock our house. 00:47:22.78\00:47:26.25 We didn't lock our car. We didn't lock our sheds 00:47:26.28\00:47:29.72 in the back yard. Why? 00:47:29.75\00:47:31.66 Didn't need to. #9- [text on screen] 00:47:31.70\00:47:33.97 Think what a different society would be if you knew 00:47:36.53\00:47:38.75 everyone was honest, and they would tell the truth. 00:47:38.78\00:47:40.97 In an age of slander and cheating, 00:47:41.00\00:47:43.36 the 10 commandments speak to us today. 00:47:43.40\00:47:45.69 Let's go on to the last one, #10- [text on screen] 00:47:45.73\00:47:48.91 Once again, people today don't realize 00:47:58.09\00:48:04.00 what a horrible thing it is to have a covetous heart. 00:48:04.04\00:48:07.62 One person gets a new stereo: "We've got to get a new stereo," 00:48:07.66\00:48:09.92 "keep up with the Jones'." "They got a car, we've got" 00:48:09.95\00:48:11.63 "to get a new car." "They got a new house," 00:48:11.66\00:48:12.90 "we got to get a new house. We've got to keep up" 00:48:12.94\00:48:14.67 "with everyone else." People are working around 00:48:14.71\00:48:16.37 the clock, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, it seems, 00:48:16.41\00:48:19.96 trying to see who can amass the most things, who can die 00:48:19.99\00:48:23.51 the richest person in the graveyard, amen? 00:48:23.54\00:48:27.15 People will say today, they'll say: "Oh, the 10 commandments," 00:48:28.92\00:48:32.68 "that's bondage if you're going to agree with those," 00:48:32.71\00:48:34.86 "that's legalism, that's going to put you under some kind" 00:48:34.90\00:48:37.70 "of servanthood." Dear friends, in Exodus 20:1,2 00:48:37.73\00:48:42.32 here's what we read, this is how God begins 00:48:42.35\00:48:45.03 the 10 commandments, it says: [text on screen] 00:48:45.06\00:48:47.71 So God is saying "I'm bring you out of slavery" 00:48:56.14\00:48:59.76 and then He gives us the 10 commandments. 00:48:59.79\00:49:01.00 Is God going to bring people out of bondage to put them back 00:49:01.04\00:49:03.15 into bondage? Of course not. 00:49:03.18\00:49:05.73 God is saying: "I have brought you out of bondage," 00:49:05.77\00:49:08.31 "have I not, therefore, demonstrated that your freedom" 00:49:08.35\00:49:10.86 "is My highest priority?" Then after demonstrating 00:49:10.89\00:49:14.74 that our freedom is God's highest priority, then He says: 00:49:14.78\00:49:17.63 "Now let me show you 10 ways to stay free;" 00:49:17.66\00:49:20.15 "10 ways that you can be happy and remain free." 00:49:20.19\00:49:23.46 In Proverbs 29:18 the Bible says: [text on screen] 00:49:23.50\00:49:26.74 Some people say: "Oh, but the 10 commandments," 00:49:30.96\00:49:33.47 "aren't they negative? All those 'Thou shalt nots' ". 00:49:33.51\00:49:36.68 No, they're not negative at all. 00:49:36.71\00:49:38.74 To the unconverted person they might be considered negative, 00:49:38.78\00:49:42.19 but to the converted person all those "Thou shalt nots" 00:49:42.22\00:49:46.00 convert into promises; God is showing: 00:49:46.03\00:49:48.86 "If you want to be happy, if you want to be free," 00:49:48.90\00:49:53.11 "then you obey these very 10 principles." 00:49:53.14\00:49:56.59 Friends, it's beautiful. Have you ever considered 00:49:56.63\00:49:59.63 what society would be like if everybody kept 00:49:59.66\00:50:02.58 the 10 commandments. If everybody kept 00:50:02.61\00:50:04.61 the 10 commandments would you have to lock your car 00:50:04.65\00:50:06.73 in the parking lot out there? If everyone kept 00:50:06.76\00:50:08.33 the 10 commandments would you have to take 00:50:08.37\00:50:10.38 self defence classes? If everyone kept 00:50:10.41\00:50:12.35 the 10 commandments would you have to worry about walking 00:50:12.39\00:50:15.30 down the darkest street in Sacramento, in the worst area 00:50:15.33\00:50:18.59 of town late at night? No, you wouldn't have to worry. 00:50:18.63\00:50:21.86 It would be a utopia, it would be a bliss. 00:50:21.89\00:50:24.74 That's what heaven is going to be like. 00:50:24.78\00:50:27.60 In John 14:15 here's what we read. 00:50:27.63\00:50:32.86 Remember, this is God Himself speaking, and He says: 00:50:33.33\00:50:37.82 [text on screen] 00:50:37.85\00:50:39.76 Jesus didn't say: "Keep My commandments." 00:50:44.06\00:50:45.77 He said: "If you love Me, keep My commandments." 00:50:45.81\00:50:48.33 So He put it in the context of love for Him. 00:50:48.37\00:50:50.86 He didn't say "Honk if you love Jesus", 00:50:50.89\00:50:53.62 "Wave if you love Jesus", no, He says: 00:50:53.65\00:50:56.57 That's very simple, "If you love Me you won't have" 00:50:56.61\00:51:00.05 "any other gods before Me." "If you love Me, you won't kill" 00:51:00.09\00:51:02.05 "If you love Me, you won't commit adultery." 00:51:02.08\00:51:03.76 And on and on we go. 00:51:03.79\00:51:05.20 What motivates a person to want to obey God's law? 00:51:05.24\00:51:07.77 There's only 1 thing that can possibly motivate us, 00:51:07.81\00:51:10.31 we looked at 1 John 5:3, here we're told: 00:51:10.34\00:51:13.77 [text on screen] 00:51:13.80\00:51:16.20 Love is the only thing that can truly work the commandments, 00:51:18.29\00:51:21.35 it can't be because of our desire for heaven, 00:51:21.38\00:51:23.81 or it can't be because we're afraid of hell fire, 00:51:23.85\00:51:26.21 it can't be a lot of things... it's got to be the love of God 00:51:26.25\00:51:28.56 that motivates us friends. Jesus always leads us 00:51:28.59\00:51:31.65 to obedience, never to disobedience. 00:51:31.68\00:51:34.48 It's love for Jesus that's going to lead us 00:51:34.52\00:51:36.61 to that obedience because we love what God has done for us. 00:51:36.65\00:51:40.50 The Bible says "we love Him because He first loved us." 00:51:40.53\00:51:44.35 That's 1 John 4:19. In the book of Acts 5:32 00:51:44.38\00:51:48.72 here's what we read: [text on screen] 00:51:48.75\00:51:51.47 You hear a lot about the Holy Spirit today, don't you? 00:51:59.56\00:52:01.54 Many churches say: "We don't need the 10 commandments" 00:52:01.58\00:52:03.53 "because we've got the Holy Spirit." 00:52:03.56\00:52:05.37 I've actually had people tell me that many, many times, 00:52:05.41\00:52:07.40 but friends, they don't realize what spirit they have 00:52:07.43\00:52:09.39 if that's their position, because the Bible says 00:52:09.42\00:52:11.68 God gives the true Holy Spirit to those that love Him 00:52:11.72\00:52:13.96 enough to want to obey Him. Can we really say that 00:52:13.99\00:52:16.20 we're Christians and not want to obey God? 00:52:16.23\00:52:18.18 Well, I want to ask you the question: if your young child 00:52:18.22\00:52:21.07 came to you one day, say his name is John, 00:52:21.10\00:52:25.90 and you said: "John, would you go out and cut the lawn" 00:52:25.94\00:52:27.51 "for me?" "No, but I love you mum," 00:52:27.54\00:52:30.22 "I love you dad." 00:52:30.25\00:52:31.92 "Well, would you make your bed and clean your room?" 00:52:31.96\00:52:33.85 "No, but I love you mum, I love you dad." 00:52:33.88\00:52:36.83 "Well would you help me with the chores out in the back yard?" 00:52:36.87\00:52:39.26 "No, I won't do that either, but I love you dad, love you mum." 00:52:39.29\00:52:41.44 Wouldn't you start to wonder after a while whether he really 00:52:41.48\00:52:43.60 did love you? Well take a look at what it says 00:52:43.63\00:52:46.10 next in 1 John 2. 00:52:46.13\00:52:50.77 Before we read this, I want to share something with you. 00:52:51.16\00:52:56.30 Have you heard of "Political Correctness"? 00:52:57.64\00:53:00.42 Well, it's becoming very religiously incorrect 00:53:00.45\00:53:03.16 to talk about obedience today, and when you start talking 00:53:03.20\00:53:05.52 about obedience, immediately people jump out and say 00:53:05.55\00:53:09.22 "That's legalism!" Well friends, it's not legalism, 00:53:09.26\00:53:11.88 legalism means trying to work your way to heaven 00:53:11.92\00:53:14.25 through obedience, well we know that's not true, 00:53:14.29\00:53:17.68 we know we need Jesus, the Saviour, to take upon 00:53:17.72\00:53:21.04 Himself our failings. But nevertheless, when you love 00:53:21.08\00:53:25.13 God enough to want to serve Him and be obedient to Him, 00:53:25.16\00:53:28.58 it's not legalism, it's another word that starts with "L", 00:53:28.61\00:53:32.00 and that's "loyalty." 00:53:32.03\00:53:35.13 That got an "amen" out of some of you, the others missed 00:53:35.75\00:53:37.44 a good opportunity. [Audience laughs] 00:53:37.47\00:53:39.79 You see, 1 John 2:3 gives us the test: [text on screen] 00:53:39.83\00:53:45.71 Friends, is that plain? That is plain! 00:54:01.48\00:54:03.99 Let's go to the book of Revelation. 00:54:04.02\00:54:06.50 I told you this would be in God's final book, 00:54:06.57\00:54:11.13 go with me to the book of Revelation 14:12. 00:54:11.17\00:54:15.66 I told you it would be in the final days the issue 00:54:15.70\00:54:18.73 that divides the world, Revelation picks up on that: 00:54:18.77\00:54:21.77 [text on screen] 00:54:21.80\00:54:23.84 I want to be one of Jesus' commandment keeping saints, 00:54:28.62\00:54:30.60 don't you? We'll go to 1 more tonight, 00:54:30.63\00:54:33.09 go to Revelation 22:14; last book of the Bible, 00:54:33.13\00:54:37.43 last chapter of the Bible, almost the last verse 00:54:37.47\00:54:41.70 of the Bible, it's as if God had to say it 1 more time 00:54:41.74\00:54:44.20 before He closed canon of Scripture. 00:54:44.23\00:54:45.99 I'm reading from the King James, if yours is not a King James 00:54:46.03\00:54:48.07 Bible it might say something different here, 00:54:48.10\00:54:49.84 but in Revelation 22:14 it says this: [text on screen] 00:54:49.88\00:54:53.32 Once again, only the commandment keeping saints of God 00:55:02.46\00:55:05.16 are going to go walking in through those pearly gates. 00:55:05.20\00:55:07.87 Is the Bible making it clear to us tonight? 00:55:07.90\00:55:11.07 Having said all of that, there are still those who will say 00:55:11.11\00:55:14.23 "But I've got a text over here", or "there's 1 text over here", 00:55:14.26\00:55:17.35 and because of these 1 or 2 texts you should throw 00:55:17.38\00:55:19.21 all that out. Well, that's what we've got 00:55:19.24\00:55:20.60 our next night for, we're going to explore this subject deep. 00:55:20.64\00:55:24.88 "When Grace Becomes a Disgrace" is our subject on our next night 00:55:24.91\00:55:29.12 and believe me, you're going to want to be here. 00:55:29.15\00:55:30.67 We're going to have a fantastic study 00:55:30.70\00:55:32.74 as we go deeper into this topic that we've been exploring 00:55:32.78\00:55:36.29 tonight, but before we're through, I want to draw the line 00:55:36.32\00:55:39.80 in the issues for you before you leave. 00:55:39.83\00:55:42.36 The Bible teaches that there's going to be a beast power, 00:55:42.40\00:55:46.03 and it says all the world wondered after the beast power, 00:55:46.06\00:55:49.69 and that beast power, friends, has taken the wrong side 00:55:49.72\00:55:53.32 in the issues, and we're going to show you that 00:55:53.35\00:55:56.01 before we're through. So the world wonders after 00:55:56.04\00:55:58.63 the beast, but the God has a people who love Him enough 00:55:58.67\00:56:02.33 to want to obey Him, and they're the ones that the Revelation 00:56:02.37\00:56:05.60 says will keep His commandments. Friends, I want to be 00:56:05.63\00:56:09.58 on Jesus' side, don't you? I want to be on the side 00:56:09.61\00:56:13.49 of heaven, I want to be on the side of God's last day people 00:56:13.53\00:56:17.27 keeping His commandments, and I know you do too. 00:56:17.30\00:56:20.42 Rejecting the Devil and all he stands for, 00:56:21.09\00:56:24.02 rejecting his lies, and his deception, and his rebellion, 00:56:24.06\00:56:26.99 I want to enter into eternal life, and the Bible says 00:56:27.02\00:56:30.08 "if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." 00:56:30.12\00:56:32.70 How many of you would like to say: "Lord, that's me!" 00:56:32.74\00:56:35.25 "I want to be there in that day, and I want to be with You." 00:56:35.29\00:56:37.43 Would you stand together with me as we close. 00:56:37.46\00:56:39.92 We're going to have our closing prayer together with all of you. 00:56:39.96\00:56:42.01 I know it's been a long night, you've come through 00:56:42.04\00:56:44.16 a beautiful concert, and now you've stayed with us here, 00:56:44.20\00:56:47.35 but I want to thank you for coming out on this 00:56:47.38\00:56:49.15 Saturday night. I'm going to pray that you'll 00:56:49.19\00:56:50.89 have a good rest on Sunday, we're going to be back here 00:56:50.93\00:56:54.04 on Monday night, so don't forget about us. 00:56:54.07\00:56:56.39 We're going to be back here on Monday night for a great subject 00:56:56.43\00:56:58.76 we long to have you all here. Bring a friend, it's not 00:56:58.79\00:57:00.62 too late in the seminar to bring someone brand new 00:57:00.65\00:57:02.45 for the first time. 00:57:02.48\00:57:04.00 Bow your heads with me if you would please. 00:57:04.04\00:57:06.65 Father in heaven, it's good to know that You don't leave 00:57:06.69\00:57:09.43 Your people without an understanding of the issues. 00:57:09.46\00:57:12.94 As we look to the fact that Jesus is soon to come, 00:57:12.97\00:57:15.68 and the last day events are about to be played out 00:57:15.72\00:57:18.40 in this world, you want us to be prepared. 00:57:18.43\00:57:21.18 So although the subject tonight was, I guess we could say, 00:57:21.22\00:57:25.14 in some ways very basic, and yet it's absolutely critical 00:57:25.17\00:57:29.06 in our understanding to get this issue right. 00:57:29.09\00:57:31.37 Help us Father to love You, as Jesus said, 00:57:31.40\00:57:33.52 enough to want to keep the You commandments. 00:57:33.55\00:57:35.60 It's really not us that keeps them, it's really the power 00:57:35.64\00:57:37.35 of heaven keeping it through us as we invite Jesus 00:57:37.38\00:57:40.22 into our heart, and into our life, may that be the experience 00:57:40.26\00:57:44.17 of everyone standing here tonight. 00:57:44.20\00:57:46.08 Bless us, each one according to our needs. 00:57:46.12\00:57:48.19 Help us to leave this place tonight, and go back safely 00:57:48.23\00:57:51.11 to our homes, but help us never to leave Your presence, 00:57:51.15\00:57:53.96 for we ask it in the lovely name of our Saviour Jesus, amen. 00:57:54.00\00:57:57.78
