I don't understand. 00:00:01.83\00:00:04.50 Why did this have to happen to me? 00:00:04.53\00:00:08.14 I feel like I just can't make sense of things. 00:00:08.17\00:00:12.54 I need answers. 00:00:12.57\00:00:15.88 Where is God? 00:00:15.91\00:00:17.25 One of the most powerful men of prayer in modern day history 00:00:21.22\00:00:24.62 was a man by the name of George Mueller. 00:00:24.65\00:00:26.72 Back in the 1800s, he ran orphanages. 00:00:26.76\00:00:29.22 And many times, they would run desperately low on resources. 00:00:29.26\00:00:33.46 He would pray to God and God would answer him. 00:00:33.50\00:00:36.30 At the end of his life, he had seen the equivalent 00:00:36.33\00:00:38.73 of over 75 million pounds in financial miracles 00:00:38.77\00:00:42.67 as a direct result of those prayers. 00:00:42.70\00:00:45.37 Hi. Welcome. My name is Mark Paden. 00:00:45.41\00:00:47.28 Welcome to Raw Questions Relevant Answers, 00:00:47.31\00:00:49.51 where we are seeking biblical answers 00:00:49.54\00:00:51.61 to the very deepest questions that we as young people face. 00:00:51.65\00:00:55.38 I'm joined by my co-hosts 00:00:55.42\00:00:56.85 Michele Doucoumes and Dee Casper, 00:00:56.89\00:00:58.72 and we are so thankful 00:00:58.75\00:01:00.09 that you have joined us here today. 00:01:00.12\00:01:01.46 Our topic today is prayer. 00:01:01.49\00:01:03.19 How can we pray like George Mueller prayed? 00:01:03.22\00:01:06.03 Or even better yet, how can we pray 00:01:06.06\00:01:07.70 like Jesus Himself prayed? 00:01:07.73\00:01:10.50 Today, we're gonna go ahead and dive in again to questions 00:01:10.53\00:01:13.10 that people, young people around the globe 00:01:13.13\00:01:15.20 have send us on our Facebook page. 00:01:15.24\00:01:18.07 So this first question that we're gonna do is, 00:01:18.11\00:01:21.11 "Why does it feel like when I pray God won't answer? 00:01:21.14\00:01:25.65 My prayers just seem to hit the ceiling?" 00:01:25.68\00:01:28.05 This is from a female, age 16, in the state of Michigan. 00:01:28.08\00:01:32.22 Well, I'll give one of the principles 00:01:32.25\00:01:34.12 regarding when prayer seems to go unanswered. 00:01:34.16\00:01:37.23 This is from a book called Steps to Christ, 00:01:37.26\00:01:38.83 great, great book on just practical Christianity. 00:01:38.86\00:01:41.36 It says, "If we regard iniquity in our hearts, 00:01:41.40\00:01:43.30 if we cling to any known sin, the Lord will not hear us. 00:01:43.33\00:01:46.37 But the prayer of the penitent contrite soul 00:01:46.40\00:01:48.74 is always accepted. 00:01:48.77\00:01:50.61 When all known wrongs are righted, 00:01:50.64\00:01:52.17 we may believe that God will answer our petitions. 00:01:52.21\00:01:55.34 Our own merit will never commend us 00:01:55.38\00:01:57.05 to the favor of God. 00:01:57.08\00:01:58.51 It is the worthiness of Jesus that will save us, 00:01:58.55\00:02:01.28 His blood that will cleanse us. 00:02:01.32\00:02:03.05 But yet, we have a work to do in complying 00:02:03.08\00:02:04.99 with the conditions of acceptance." 00:02:05.02\00:02:06.82 And the principle of this verse, 00:02:06.86\00:02:08.19 this quote comes from is from Isaiah 59:1, 2. 00:02:08.22\00:02:12.26 It says, "Behold, the Lord's hand 00:02:12.29\00:02:13.63 is not shortened that it cannot save, 00:02:13.66\00:02:15.26 nor His ear heavy that it cannot hear, 00:02:15.30\00:02:17.50 but your iniquities have separated you 00:02:17.53\00:02:19.53 from your God, 00:02:19.57\00:02:20.90 and your sins have hidden His face from you 00:02:20.94\00:02:22.37 so that He will not hear." 00:02:22.40\00:02:23.84 It deprives God of being able to hear actively 00:02:23.87\00:02:26.98 and respond to us as He would want. 00:02:27.01\00:02:28.34 It says one category, right? 00:02:28.38\00:02:29.78 If there's known share of sin, but sometimes, God just... 00:02:29.81\00:02:33.72 The answer is no because he sees things 00:02:33.75\00:02:35.62 that we don't in these situations, right? 00:02:35.65\00:02:38.45 The only things that God would ask for us to do 00:02:38.49\00:02:40.29 with the things that we ourselves 00:02:40.32\00:02:41.66 would choose to do 00:02:41.69\00:02:43.02 if we knew what He knew, right? 00:02:43.06\00:02:44.39 We would accept what he's wanting 00:02:44.43\00:02:45.89 if we knew all of what He saw in those moments. 00:02:45.93\00:02:47.90 Yeah. 00:02:47.93\00:02:49.26 Yeah, I like some of those principles. 00:02:49.30\00:02:50.93 Some of it reminds me of James Chapter four. 00:02:50.97\00:02:53.44 We are told in verse three, "You ask and do not receive 00:02:53.47\00:02:57.21 because you ask amiss 00:02:57.24\00:02:58.57 that you may spend it on your pleasures." 00:02:58.61\00:03:00.64 And so what are we asking for? 00:03:00.68\00:03:03.14 Maybe sometimes they are not hearing 00:03:03.18\00:03:04.51 because those things are not according to God's will, 00:03:04.55\00:03:07.32 they are not in line with what they should be. 00:03:07.35\00:03:09.98 Other times though, maybe they are. 00:03:10.02\00:03:11.89 I think of Daniel, 00:03:11.92\00:03:13.25 he was praying for some very good things. 00:03:13.29\00:03:15.06 He was praying for the deliverance 00:03:15.09\00:03:16.56 of his people that were in captivity, 00:03:16.59\00:03:18.56 something that didn't already prophesied, right? 00:03:18.59\00:03:21.96 And so Daniel Chapter 9, he prays. 00:03:22.00\00:03:24.57 He doesn't seem to get an answer for a good while. 00:03:24.60\00:03:28.14 Finally, in Daniel Chapter 10, 00:03:28.17\00:03:30.34 an angel comes to give him an answer. 00:03:30.37\00:03:32.51 But he says something interesting. 00:03:32.54\00:03:34.21 Verse 13, he says, "But the prince 00:03:34.24\00:03:36.54 of the kingdom of Persia withstood me 21 days." 00:03:36.58\00:03:40.68 There was a spiritual battle going on 00:03:40.72\00:03:43.72 where this angel could not get through, 00:03:43.75\00:03:45.99 and then finally he could, and he came with an answer. 00:03:46.02\00:03:50.53 He was sent at the beginning of Daniel's prayer, 00:03:50.56\00:03:53.36 but there were some bigger picture things 00:03:53.40\00:03:55.53 that Daniel couldn't see that made it a wait 00:03:55.56\00:03:59.73 instead of a now. 00:03:59.77\00:04:01.10 So maybe sometimes there is a wait, 00:04:01.14\00:04:04.24 and we give up pretty easily. 00:04:04.27\00:04:06.01 Yeah. 00:04:06.04\00:04:07.38 You know, one of the principles too 00:04:07.41\00:04:08.74 that I want to bring in here is found in Hebrews 11:6. 00:04:08.78\00:04:13.35 "But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, 00:04:13.38\00:04:16.38 for He who comes to God must believe that He is, 00:04:16.42\00:04:20.92 and that He is a rewarder 00:04:20.96\00:04:22.32 of those who diligently seek Him." 00:04:22.36\00:04:23.69 You see, many times in the gospels 00:04:23.73\00:04:25.69 when people came to Christ asking for certain things, 00:04:25.73\00:04:29.86 they didn't believe it. 00:04:29.90\00:04:31.23 And so it didn't happen. 00:04:31.27\00:04:33.80 Or in many cases, Christ reproved their unbelief 00:04:33.84\00:04:37.07 and then they fell in penitence on Christ saying, 00:04:37.11\00:04:39.54 "Lord, I believe, help my unbelief." 00:04:39.57\00:04:41.71 So another principle of prayer in the sense is that 00:04:41.74\00:04:45.51 we need to believe, first of all, that God is, 00:04:45.55\00:04:48.65 that God is who He says He is, that He is almighty God, 00:04:48.68\00:04:52.19 and that He has the ability. 00:04:52.22\00:04:54.76 And also, that He is a rewarder of them, 00:04:54.79\00:04:57.36 the diligently seeking. 00:04:57.39\00:04:58.73 So if we seek God, He will be found of us. 00:04:58.76\00:05:03.00 And we're also promised 00:05:03.03\00:05:04.37 that if we pray according to the will of God, 00:05:04.40\00:05:06.13 we will receive an answer 1000% 00:05:06.17\00:05:09.74 and we're guaranteed of that in scripture 00:05:09.77\00:05:11.61 that if we're praying in accordance with God's will. 00:05:11.64\00:05:13.71 So one of the things... 00:05:13.74\00:05:15.08 And it's not just like we say 00:05:15.11\00:05:16.48 in Jesus' name at the end of a prayer, 00:05:16.51\00:05:17.95 so we should just say 00:05:17.98\00:05:19.31 and Your will be done at the end of the prayer, 00:05:19.35\00:05:20.82 like we should, it should mean something to us 00:05:20.85\00:05:23.22 when we say that. 00:05:23.25\00:05:24.59 Another really important premise in prayer 00:05:24.62\00:05:26.96 is the soil of the heart, right? 00:05:26.99\00:05:29.52 Not just what the words of the mouth are 00:05:29.56\00:05:31.13 but the actual soil of the heart. 00:05:31.16\00:05:32.69 So if we say, "Oh God, 00:05:32.73\00:05:34.33 you know, I'll do whatever you want 00:05:34.36\00:05:36.26 or you know, I'll go wherever you want." 00:05:36.30\00:05:38.17 But then in your heart you say, "But oh, not yet." 00:05:38.20\00:05:41.37 God has to answer the prayer of the heart 00:05:41.40\00:05:43.81 over the prayer of the mouth. 00:05:43.84\00:05:45.17 And sometimes 00:05:45.21\00:05:46.54 there is a contradiction internally, right? 00:05:46.57\00:05:48.18 There is internal inconsistency 00:05:48.21\00:05:49.84 that what we say with our mouth is not in harmony 00:05:49.88\00:05:51.95 with where our heart is at that point in time, 00:05:51.98\00:05:53.88 whether what we want or how we're living 00:05:53.92\00:05:55.95 or what we believe. 00:05:55.98\00:05:57.85 You know, to another part of this is, 00:05:57.89\00:06:00.29 sometimes we may ask for something 00:06:00.32\00:06:03.39 that isn't against God's will 00:06:03.43\00:06:07.03 but it isn't necessarily promised in scripture, right? 00:06:07.06\00:06:09.76 You know, we have times 00:06:09.80\00:06:11.13 where maybe we've lost something, 00:06:11.17\00:06:12.50 maybe we were... 00:06:12.53\00:06:13.94 There's a loved one that is getting really sick, 00:06:13.97\00:06:16.71 and in those times, 00:06:16.74\00:06:18.21 it can often be really quite a struggle 00:06:18.24\00:06:22.41 to know how to feel in our minds 00:06:22.44\00:06:25.35 because we want to believe. 00:06:25.38\00:06:26.78 But at the same time, will God actually do it? 00:06:26.82\00:06:29.68 You know one thing I think in those situations 00:06:29.72\00:06:31.82 is to trust the heart of God. 00:06:31.85\00:06:33.19 Wow. Yes. 00:06:33.22\00:06:34.56 To know that God will do the very best thing for us 00:06:34.59\00:06:38.63 and to leave it in His hands. 00:06:38.66\00:06:40.13 And in those moments where it's just mentally painful, 00:06:40.16\00:06:43.13 and we've all been there, 00:06:43.16\00:06:45.83 it's that process of saying, "Lord, 00:06:45.87\00:06:48.00 I'm putting this in Your hands." 00:06:48.04\00:06:49.37 And continually surrendering it to Him 00:06:49.40\00:06:50.74 and looking up to remember His promises, 00:06:50.77\00:06:53.38 and not to trust, "Okay, He is going to do this," 00:06:53.41\00:06:55.34 but to say, "Lord, Your will be done. 00:06:55.38\00:06:58.21 I'm resting in You for it." 00:06:58.25\00:06:59.58 And then trust him because He's faithful. 00:06:59.61\00:07:01.52 I think it's an important point that if we have 00:07:01.55\00:07:03.42 a true conception of who God is, 00:07:03.45\00:07:05.79 we're going to give Him the benefit of the doubt 00:07:05.82\00:07:07.26 in those things that we don't understand. 00:07:07.29\00:07:08.72 Yeah. 00:07:08.76\00:07:10.09 Because we know He would never leave me somewhere 00:07:10.13\00:07:11.46 that I would want to go if I knew or He knew. 00:07:11.49\00:07:13.36 Yeah, yeah. It's a great point. 00:07:13.40\00:07:15.03 Hundred percent. Okay. 00:07:15.06\00:07:16.40 So here's the second question. And this is quite practical. 00:07:16.43\00:07:21.30 "How do I pray when I always get distracted 00:07:21.34\00:07:24.01 or fall asleep when I try?" 00:07:24.04\00:07:26.44 Oh, man. 00:07:26.47\00:07:27.84 I will start that off because I have been there, 00:07:27.88\00:07:30.38 I feel that. 00:07:30.41\00:07:31.75 You know, for a long part of my Christian experience, 00:07:31.78\00:07:35.12 prayer was like this much, 00:07:35.15\00:07:36.85 and then studying the Bible 00:07:36.89\00:07:38.22 or things was a much larger portion 00:07:38.25\00:07:40.76 primarily because I had a difficult time praying. 00:07:40.79\00:07:44.33 I mean, I would pray, 00:07:44.36\00:07:46.49 but then a little bit through my mind would be over here 00:07:46.53\00:07:49.96 and what I had to do and then the other things 00:07:50.00\00:07:52.60 and then I fall asleep. 00:07:52.63\00:07:54.97 I feel their pain. 00:07:55.00\00:07:56.74 There are different things that help. 00:07:56.77\00:07:58.11 Some people really enjoy praying out loud, you know? 00:07:58.14\00:08:01.14 That can be a big thing. 00:08:01.18\00:08:02.91 Just go somewhere where you can pray out loud. 00:08:02.94\00:08:05.21 Don't pray in your bed lying down. 00:08:05.25\00:08:08.15 Right. That's a good... 00:08:08.18\00:08:09.68 I've noticed that one. 00:08:09.72\00:08:11.29 But also, one thing that's actually helped me a lot 00:08:11.32\00:08:13.89 is I started writing my prayers. 00:08:13.92\00:08:15.79 I journal a lot. 00:08:15.82\00:08:17.29 And that is a way that I focus. 00:08:17.33\00:08:19.89 And it really started to transform my prayer life 00:08:19.93\00:08:25.30 and that prayer started to transform my spiritual life, 00:08:25.33\00:08:28.04 and that's a huge encouragement. 00:08:28.07\00:08:29.40 If you're studying with prayer, don't give up on it. 00:08:29.44\00:08:33.24 If we think about it, in the book, Steps to Christ... 00:08:33.27\00:08:36.44 Actually no, it's in the periodical, 00:08:36.48\00:08:38.18 Signs of the Times, first of all. 00:08:38.21\00:08:40.22 February 3, 1904, it says, 00:08:40.25\00:08:42.02 "Prayer is the breath of the soul. 00:08:42.05\00:08:45.02 Jesus lived in dependence upon God 00:08:45.05\00:08:47.52 and communion with Him." 00:08:47.56\00:08:49.96 And as we pray, it grows a relationship, 00:08:49.99\00:08:55.46 and that's what I started to see. 00:08:55.50\00:08:56.83 It's like studying the scripture is the bread. 00:08:56.87\00:08:59.10 But have you have ever had bread 00:08:59.13\00:09:01.44 and it's kind of dry and you have no water? 00:09:01.47\00:09:04.01 To me, prayer is like the breath 00:09:04.04\00:09:06.41 or maybe the water that goes with it in a way, 00:09:06.44\00:09:09.81 and we need those together. 00:09:09.84\00:09:11.81 And so I would encourage you, if you're struggling with this, 00:09:11.85\00:09:14.15 try some different things, try speaking your prayers, 00:09:14.18\00:09:17.15 try writing your prayers, 00:09:17.19\00:09:18.75 pray with other people sometimes, 00:09:18.79\00:09:20.76 some people like a prayer special closet or a place 00:09:20.79\00:09:24.59 or going outside to pray, 00:09:24.63\00:09:26.66 so maybe switch it up some to a way that you can focus 00:09:26.70\00:09:31.77 and start to have that communion with God. 00:09:31.80\00:09:34.10 You know, one other principle here that I love 00:09:34.14\00:09:35.94 in Psalm 116:1, 2. 00:09:35.97\00:09:38.47 It says, "I love the Lord because he has heard my voice 00:09:38.51\00:09:42.28 and my suffocations 00:09:42.31\00:09:43.98 because he has inclined his ear unto me, 00:09:44.01\00:09:46.61 therefore will I call upon him as long as I live." 00:09:46.65\00:09:49.65 I think one of the biggest motivators to prayer 00:09:49.68\00:09:51.89 is really an experience 00:09:51.92\00:09:54.52 where we test the promises of God and He comes through 00:09:54.56\00:09:57.96 because when we... 00:09:57.99\00:09:59.33 Like George Mueller. Yes. 00:09:59.36\00:10:00.70 When he was in need, doing work for the Lord, 00:10:00.73\00:10:03.06 like that 75 million pounds 00:10:03.10\00:10:05.53 wasn't just for him to buy a Ferrari, right? 00:10:05.57\00:10:08.67 He was doing Practical Ministry with that money, 00:10:08.70\00:10:11.61 and when he was a need, when he was testing 00:10:11.64\00:10:13.81 the promises of God, God came through. 00:10:13.84\00:10:15.88 And so do you think 00:10:15.91\00:10:17.25 George Miller struggled with praying 00:10:17.28\00:10:19.28 after all those times when he had prayed 00:10:19.31\00:10:21.12 and God had shown Himself faithful? 00:10:21.15\00:10:22.98 I don't think so. 00:10:23.02\00:10:24.35 When we are willing to test the promises of God 00:10:24.39\00:10:27.36 in that practical visceral way... 00:10:27.39\00:10:30.09 Yeah. 00:10:30.13\00:10:31.66 For me, one of the things that was a big help 00:10:31.69\00:10:33.60 was walking and praying. 00:10:33.63\00:10:34.96 So that's generally what I do every day is 00:10:35.00\00:10:36.33 I'll just take time to walk and pray, and I will... 00:10:36.36\00:10:39.23 Even when I'm just praying in my room, 00:10:39.27\00:10:41.10 I'll just pray just under my breath, 00:10:41.14\00:10:42.90 I'll have to enunciate, I'll have to speak. 00:10:42.94\00:10:44.44 But it's not loud enough 00:10:44.47\00:10:45.81 for anyone in the room to hear it, 00:10:45.84\00:10:47.18 and it focuses my mind 00:10:47.21\00:10:48.54 because more than one of my senses is being engaged, 00:10:48.58\00:10:50.31 but walking has been a big help too. 00:10:50.35\00:10:52.85 I wanted to give some resources 00:10:52.88\00:10:54.28 that have been immensely helpful for me 00:10:54.32\00:10:56.02 on the topic of prayer in some of these categories. 00:10:56.05\00:10:58.62 The first was Roger Morneau. 00:10:58.65\00:11:00.46 He has a book, MORNEAU, 00:11:00.49\00:11:03.19 Roger Morneau, has a book called 00:11:03.22\00:11:05.16 Incredible Answers to Prayer is what it's called. 00:11:05.19\00:11:08.56 And he would pray in his car, he did traveling business. 00:11:08.60\00:11:11.60 And so he would have this massive list 00:11:11.63\00:11:13.34 for people he would pray for every day. 00:11:13.37\00:11:15.50 And while he was driving he would pray. 00:11:15.54\00:11:17.14 So just take some time to turn your radio off, 00:11:17.17\00:11:19.47 turn the other stuff off, 00:11:19.51\00:11:20.84 and just pray to God, listen to God. 00:11:20.88\00:11:23.28 His book has been an amazing resource. 00:11:23.31\00:11:25.05 A second resource is from a friend of ours 00:11:25.08\00:11:26.68 Melody Mason. 00:11:26.72\00:11:28.05 It's called Daring to Ask for More, 00:11:28.08\00:11:30.25 and it's another great asset 00:11:30.29\00:11:32.12 where it just kind of walks through 00:11:32.15\00:11:33.82 the whole principles of prayer, the soil of the heart, 00:11:33.86\00:11:36.29 what lies are you believing, what are your practices, 00:11:36.32\00:11:38.79 what's your view of God and yourself? 00:11:38.83\00:11:41.06 It kind of goes through a lot of it... 00:11:41.10\00:11:42.43 Super practical resources. 00:11:42.46\00:11:43.80 And the third is 00:11:43.83\00:11:45.17 you are going to search this in Google. 00:11:45.20\00:11:46.53 Pavel Goia, P-A-V-E-L, 00:11:46.57\00:11:48.60 and his last name is Goia, G-O-I-A, 00:11:48.64\00:11:51.14 and search Vital Prayer. 00:11:51.17\00:11:52.91 There's a whole series of sermons he does 00:11:52.94\00:11:54.68 that deal with a lot of other components. 00:11:54.71\00:11:56.44 Those three together have revolutionized 00:11:56.48\00:11:58.68 my view of prayer, and I've seen tons of answers, 00:11:58.71\00:12:01.75 huge miraculous answers, 00:12:01.78\00:12:03.22 by implementing those principles. 00:12:03.25\00:12:04.95 What you mentioned, 00:12:04.99\00:12:06.32 Pavel actually lists, that he says, 00:12:06.35\00:12:07.69 "It's not safe to ask 00:12:07.72\00:12:09.42 until we've praised Him enough to trust." 00:12:09.46\00:12:11.26 Yeah. 00:12:11.29\00:12:12.63 And the point was that when you start 00:12:12.66\00:12:14.20 your prayer experience in praise, 00:12:14.23\00:12:16.40 you're reminding yourself that you're speaking 00:12:16.43\00:12:17.97 to a faithful God. 00:12:18.00\00:12:19.33 You are coming into the presence 00:12:19.37\00:12:20.70 of the Almighty God of the universe 00:12:20.74\00:12:22.47 who's been faithful to you, 00:12:22.50\00:12:24.21 and if that's in the forefront of your mind, when you ask, 00:12:24.24\00:12:26.47 you're already believing that He hears 00:12:26.51\00:12:28.04 and He's going to answer 00:12:28.08\00:12:29.51 because you've had previous experiences with Him. 00:12:29.54\00:12:31.98 You are not thinking, "God, are you there? 00:12:32.01\00:12:33.35 Do you care? Here it is. 00:12:33.38\00:12:35.28 Hope it works." 00:12:35.32\00:12:36.65 You know whose presence you're coming into 00:12:36.69\00:12:38.45 and who you are speaking to. 00:12:38.49\00:12:39.82 I think that's a big thing is sometimes we think 00:12:39.85\00:12:41.96 a prayer is just going through our list, 00:12:41.99\00:12:44.76 "Please be with aunt Mary who has cancer, 00:12:44.79\00:12:47.00 or please be with this and that," 00:12:47.03\00:12:49.06 but prayer is more than that. 00:12:49.10\00:12:50.43 We see that even in the Lord's Prayer. 00:12:50.47\00:12:52.63 You know, our Father in heaven, hallowed is Your name. 00:12:52.67\00:12:56.37 Starting with maybe praising God for who He is, 00:12:56.40\00:12:59.17 remembering who He is, 00:12:59.21\00:13:00.54 then Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, 00:13:00.58\00:13:02.81 submitting ourselves to God, 00:13:02.84\00:13:04.91 or maybe praying through even confessions 00:13:04.95\00:13:07.22 that we need to make in our own heart. 00:13:07.25\00:13:09.32 Sometimes, there is stuff that needs to be cleared 00:13:09.35\00:13:11.79 between us and God, to pray about those. 00:13:11.82\00:13:14.26 And then praying through the actual requests 00:13:14.29\00:13:16.62 that we have, 00:13:16.66\00:13:17.99 and then thanking God for things. 00:13:18.03\00:13:19.36 Yeah. 00:13:19.39\00:13:20.73 And so my prayers have become 00:13:20.76\00:13:22.10 a lot more of just my daily dialogue about life with God 00:13:22.13\00:13:26.74 and not just a list of things that need to be done. 00:13:26.77\00:13:30.97 Well, I think the power of that is that 00:13:31.01\00:13:33.11 prayer isn't just something that we were required to do 00:13:33.14\00:13:36.34 in order to expiate or make atonement, 00:13:36.38\00:13:39.48 get rid of our sin, 00:13:39.51\00:13:41.05 prayer is something in which it's a daily experience 00:13:41.08\00:13:43.99 of communion with God as to a friend, 00:13:44.02\00:13:46.32 opening the heart to God as to a friend 00:13:46.35\00:13:48.09 whether that's about where we've messed up, 00:13:48.12\00:13:49.79 or what we're happy about, or what we need. 00:13:49.82\00:13:51.93 Another big thing too 00:13:51.96\00:13:53.29 is claiming the promises of God. 00:13:53.33\00:13:54.66 There are so many rich promises in this book 00:13:54.70\00:13:56.87 that if we claim them, 00:13:56.90\00:13:58.50 He's pledged Himself to respond. 00:13:58.53\00:14:01.40 So if you want to pray more, 00:14:01.44\00:14:03.61 I encourage you to dive into the Word of God, 00:14:03.64\00:14:05.97 really come to God and make that a priority. 00:14:06.01\00:14:09.24 Thank you so much for joining us. 00:14:09.28\00:14:11.05 God bless. 00:14:11.08\00:14:12.41
