I don't understand 00:00:01.86\00:00:04.50 why did this have to happen to me? 00:00:04.53\00:00:08.07 I feel like I just can't make sense of things. 00:00:08.10\00:00:12.57 I need answers. 00:00:12.61\00:00:15.91 Where is God? 00:00:15.94\00:00:20.08 In the 16th century, 00:00:20.12\00:00:21.88 the state religion combined with France, 00:00:21.92\00:00:26.55 perpetrated one of the worst massacres in Christendom. 00:00:26.59\00:00:31.63 Seventy thousand innocent lives 00:00:31.66\00:00:34.36 were slain in a few weeks. 00:00:34.40\00:00:38.90 It was an incredibly intense time. 00:00:38.93\00:00:42.44 Welcome to Raw Questions Relevant Answers. 00:00:42.47\00:00:44.77 My name is Mark Paden, 00:00:44.81\00:00:46.14 and I'm joined by my co-host Dee Casper 00:00:46.17\00:00:48.41 and Michelle Doucoumes. 00:00:48.44\00:00:49.78 And this is a program 00:00:49.81\00:00:51.15 in which we seek biblical answers 00:00:51.18\00:00:53.78 to the raw questions that we deal 00:00:53.82\00:00:55.75 with as young people on a day-to-day basis. 00:00:55.78\00:00:58.72 And today's topic 00:00:58.75\00:01:00.16 that we are heading is a pretty heavy one. 00:01:00.19\00:01:02.89 It's on the subject of bad religion. 00:01:02.92\00:01:06.03 And the reason I started off 00:01:06.06\00:01:07.40 with that example from Christian history is that, 00:01:07.43\00:01:10.67 you know, a lot of times it seems 00:01:10.70\00:01:12.73 like the followers of God do some of the worst things, 00:01:12.77\00:01:16.20 I mean, 70,000 innocent lives, 00:01:16.24\00:01:18.61 against fellow Christians nonetheless. 00:01:18.64\00:01:21.74 So what we're going to do is again 00:01:21.78\00:01:23.71 we're going to dive through some of these questions 00:01:23.75\00:01:25.28 that have been submitted by young people 00:01:25.31\00:01:27.28 around the country and around the world. 00:01:27.32\00:01:29.18 So the first one 00:01:29.22\00:01:30.55 that we're going to hit is from a young female, 00:01:30.59\00:01:32.85 age 15, in the state of Tennessee. 00:01:32.89\00:01:36.32 "Why does the church force things upon you 00:01:36.36\00:01:38.96 and cause you to have feelings of guilt? 00:01:38.99\00:01:42.03 Don't they realize 00:01:42.06\00:01:43.40 that they are just confusing everyone 00:01:43.43\00:01:44.77 and making them resent God? 00:01:44.80\00:01:46.77 Then we have to live 00:01:46.80\00:01:48.24 for what other people tell us to do, 00:01:48.27\00:01:50.17 but inside we are alone and hurting 00:01:50.21\00:01:52.34 because our whole life is a lie. 00:01:52.37\00:01:54.74 Does God really want this? 00:01:54.78\00:01:56.24 If not, why doesn't He do something about it?" 00:01:56.28\00:01:59.68 So the first thing we would say is no, 00:01:59.71\00:02:02.08 God doesn't want this. 00:02:02.12\00:02:03.52 And I just want use a brief reference here, 00:02:03.55\00:02:04.92 two brief references 00:02:04.95\00:02:06.29 that God has nothing to do with this. 00:02:06.32\00:02:07.66 The first is in Ezekiel 36:22, 00:02:07.69\00:02:11.23 He says, "Therefore say to the house of Israel, 00:02:11.26\00:02:13.09 'I do not do this what I'm about to do 00:02:13.13\00:02:14.73 for your sake, O house of Israel, 00:02:14.76\00:02:16.16 but for My holy name's sake, 00:02:16.20\00:02:18.17 which you have profaned among 00:02:18.20\00:02:19.53 the nations wherever you went.'" 00:02:19.57\00:02:21.40 In short, God is distancing Himself 00:02:21.44\00:02:23.17 from the behavior of the people of God. 00:02:23.20\00:02:25.31 "I'm going to have to do something 00:02:25.34\00:02:26.68 because you've made a mess 00:02:26.71\00:02:28.04 of My reputation before the world." 00:02:28.08\00:02:29.84 He would eventually end up telling is actually the promise 00:02:29.88\00:02:31.58 of the new covenant in Ezekiel 36 00:02:31.61\00:02:33.65 of God transforming our lives 00:02:33.68\00:02:35.12 through the Holy Spirit to live an obedient life. 00:02:35.15\00:02:37.09 And He says that, 00:02:37.12\00:02:38.45 "The surrounding nations will know that I'm the Lord 00:02:38.49\00:02:39.95 when I'm hallowed in you before their eyes." 00:02:39.99\00:02:42.89 People will want something to do with God 00:02:42.92\00:02:45.06 when the people of God look like God. 00:02:45.09\00:02:47.43 There's a similar illusion to this in Acts 26 00:02:47.46\00:02:49.43 where Paul is telling his testimony to King Agrippa. 00:02:49.46\00:02:52.53 And as he's confronted by Jesus on the road to Damascus 00:02:52.57\00:02:55.70 he says, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" 00:02:55.74\00:02:59.57 Well, the thing is he didn't have a warrant 00:02:59.61\00:03:01.11 for the arrest of Jesus. 00:03:01.14\00:03:02.48 Jesus is ascended to heaven at this stage. 00:03:02.51\00:03:04.18 He had a warrant for the rest of people 00:03:04.21\00:03:05.61 who followed Jesus. 00:03:05.65\00:03:07.48 And Jesus here seemed to be identifying 00:03:07.52\00:03:09.68 with the people who are persecuted 00:03:09.72\00:03:11.39 in His name by people who believed in God. 00:03:11.42\00:03:15.12 And so I think 00:03:15.16\00:03:16.49 that there is some good news for us immediately 00:03:16.52\00:03:18.89 that God has nothing to do with bad religion. 00:03:18.93\00:03:21.40 He distances Himself from incenses of bad religion. 00:03:21.43\00:03:24.90 The question then is, 00:03:24.93\00:03:26.27 "Why does God allow these things to happen?" 00:03:26.30\00:03:28.30 Well, this is not God's ideal by any means, 00:03:28.34\00:03:31.44 but what God is seeking to do 00:03:31.47\00:03:33.14 is to redeem that bad influence, 00:03:33.17\00:03:34.64 and His call for them was always to be 00:03:34.68\00:03:36.24 a good influence. 00:03:36.28\00:03:38.21 Sometimes our zeal can lead us to take actions 00:03:38.25\00:03:40.85 that we think are right, 00:03:40.88\00:03:42.88 wanting to do right that cause harm. 00:03:42.92\00:03:45.72 The amazing thing is God pursues us in spite of that, 00:03:45.75\00:03:48.69 and God is earnestly striving to improve His reputation 00:03:48.72\00:03:52.26 in the eyes of the world through genuine Christians. 00:03:52.29\00:03:54.73 And above all else, 00:03:54.76\00:03:56.10 you know, we're really going to know what God is like 00:03:56.13\00:03:57.73 is by searching the Word of God for ourselves. 00:03:57.77\00:04:00.40 That would be my initial answer. 00:04:00.44\00:04:02.04 Yeah. 00:04:02.07\00:04:03.41 You know, Dee, I see through Scripture 00:04:03.44\00:04:05.31 how much Jesus hates bad religion too. 00:04:05.34\00:04:07.44 Yes. 00:04:07.48\00:04:08.81 And so, you know, Matthew 23, 00:04:08.84\00:04:11.25 there is pretty much a whole chapter of Him 00:04:11.28\00:04:13.72 be crying the evils of the religious system 00:04:13.75\00:04:16.05 in His day. 00:04:16.08\00:04:17.42 Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees 00:04:17.45\00:04:19.39 because of all these different things 00:04:19.42\00:04:20.76 that they do including the fact 00:04:20.79\00:04:22.96 that they were whitewash tombs, He said, they looked good 00:04:22.99\00:04:27.00 but they weren't inside. 00:04:27.03\00:04:28.36 Or in Matthew 21, Jesus cleanses the temple. 00:04:28.40\00:04:32.20 There was nothing that He hated more. 00:04:32.23\00:04:34.00 You don't see Jesus really getting angry often, 00:04:34.04\00:04:37.41 but when it came to His house, 00:04:37.44\00:04:39.87 His people, His church not being 00:04:39.91\00:04:42.01 what they were supposed to, it really made Him angry. 00:04:42.04\00:04:45.11 At the same time though, we see God who's merciful, 00:04:45.15\00:04:48.72 and that He's reluctant to give us up. 00:04:48.75\00:04:51.05 He talks about Jerusalem 00:04:51.09\00:04:52.55 and said that He wanted to gather them under His wings 00:04:52.59\00:04:55.49 like a hen gathers its chicks. 00:04:55.52\00:04:57.83 And so realize that Jesus doesn't love it 00:04:57.86\00:05:01.80 when the church puts guilt that shouldn't be there. 00:05:01.83\00:05:04.60 At the same time, oh, my, He's also merciful, 00:05:04.63\00:05:08.64 not wanting to lose His church, His body either. 00:05:08.67\00:05:12.84 And so I would say with this 00:05:12.87\00:05:14.84 that the huge thing is to look at what's going on and say, 00:05:14.88\00:05:17.68 "Hey, is this guilt? 00:05:17.71\00:05:19.45 Is this really coming from God? 00:05:19.48\00:05:21.85 Or is this coming from a source that is not God?" 00:05:21.88\00:05:24.82 Maybe some people 00:05:24.85\00:05:26.19 who are unfortunately misrepresenting God. 00:05:26.22\00:05:29.69 Yeah, it reminds me, like, even with the Apostle Paul, 00:05:29.72\00:05:32.46 God is seeking to use him in ministry, right? 00:05:32.49\00:05:35.23 He changes his life and He says, 00:05:35.26\00:05:36.60 "For this purpose I've come to you 00:05:36.63\00:05:38.03 that you may proclaim My name among the Gentiles." 00:05:38.07\00:05:40.50 God's still pursuing those people 00:05:40.54\00:05:41.87 that are hurting us 00:05:41.90\00:05:43.24 because He wants them in the kingdom 00:05:43.27\00:05:44.61 'cause He's got something He can work with. 00:05:44.64\00:05:45.97 They want to serve God, they have a zeal 00:05:46.01\00:05:47.51 but not according to knowledge, 00:05:47.54\00:05:48.88 they need to have a transformation. 00:05:48.91\00:05:50.25 What they need is a face-to-face encounter 00:05:50.28\00:05:51.85 with Jesus. 00:05:51.88\00:05:53.21 If it worked for Saul of Tarsus, 00:05:53.25\00:05:54.58 it can work for me, it can work for them. 00:05:54.62\00:05:55.98 And, I think, it's a great point 00:05:56.02\00:05:57.35 that Michelle made 00:05:57.39\00:05:58.72 that we can't lose sight of that. 00:05:58.75\00:06:00.09 These people are sincere, right? 00:06:00.12\00:06:01.66 It's not like that they want nothing to do with God, 00:06:01.69\00:06:03.29 they want to, you know, 00:06:03.32\00:06:04.66 just absolutely destroy His reputation in the world. 00:06:04.69\00:06:07.76 They're trying to do right, 00:06:07.80\00:06:09.13 they're just doing it the wrong way. 00:06:09.16\00:06:10.67 I just want to make sure that's clear. 00:06:10.70\00:06:12.07 But God has a better plan in mind, 00:06:12.10\00:06:13.47 and for whatever reason God feels 00:06:13.50\00:06:15.97 that He can get the most glory out 00:06:16.00\00:06:17.54 of using people to spread the gospel 00:06:17.57\00:06:19.67 to the world instead of angels. 00:06:19.71\00:06:21.61 And what God is doing is making the best of that situation 00:06:21.64\00:06:24.71 by transforming people to be the best messengers. 00:06:24.75\00:06:27.42 He's still working that process out 00:06:27.45\00:06:28.82 but He will succeed. 00:06:28.85\00:06:30.52 Here's another thing that I really appreciate. 00:06:30.55\00:06:32.15 This is from a periodical 00:06:32.19\00:06:33.82 actually, Signs of the Times, July 1, 1889 in fact. 00:06:33.86\00:06:39.09 Yeah, it was written a little bit ago, but... 00:06:39.13\00:06:40.46 Yeah. 00:06:40.50\00:06:42.60 I think this is just really refreshing perspective. 00:06:42.63\00:06:45.20 "There are many who try to correct 00:06:45.23\00:06:46.57 the life of others by attacking 00:06:46.60\00:06:48.47 what they consider are wrong habits. 00:06:48.50\00:06:51.17 They go to those who may think 00:06:51.21\00:06:52.54 are in error and point out their defects. 00:06:52.57\00:06:54.38 They say, 'You don't dress as you should, 00:06:54.41\00:06:57.81 you don't dress as you should.' 00:06:57.85\00:06:59.18 They try to pick off the ornaments 00:06:59.21\00:07:00.55 or whatever seems offensive. 00:07:00.58\00:07:01.92 But they do not seek to fasten the mind to truth. 00:07:01.95\00:07:04.55 Those who seek to correct others should present 00:07:04.59\00:07:06.39 the attractions of Jesus. 00:07:06.42\00:07:07.99 They should talk of His love and compassion. 00:07:08.02\00:07:10.43 Present His example and sacrifice, 00:07:10.46\00:07:13.06 reveal His Spirit." 00:07:13.09\00:07:14.43 Wow! 00:07:14.46\00:07:15.80 And, I think, the power of this is just that, 00:07:15.83\00:07:18.60 you know, if we really as, 00:07:18.63\00:07:21.37 especially as leaders in the work of God want 00:07:21.40\00:07:24.97 to affect lives for the good 00:07:25.01\00:07:27.88 and want to change them and bring them closer to God, 00:07:27.91\00:07:30.18 really what we need to do is 00:07:30.21\00:07:31.55 show them Jesus, show them His love, 00:07:31.58\00:07:32.98 show them His sacrifice. 00:07:33.01\00:07:34.48 Be an example of kindness and courtesy 00:07:34.52\00:07:36.79 and true Christian grace and friendship. 00:07:36.82\00:07:39.55 And in this process, 00:07:39.59\00:07:41.86 that will win people that going up 00:07:41.89\00:07:43.83 and just telling somebody 00:07:43.86\00:07:45.26 to stop doing that little thing, 00:07:45.29\00:07:46.66 he's going to do. 00:07:46.70\00:07:48.03 Now I do want to just flip over on one hand 00:07:48.06\00:07:50.87 and bring around the fact 00:07:50.90\00:07:52.23 that just because somebody comes to you 00:07:52.27\00:07:55.30 and addresses something in your life in a way 00:07:55.34\00:07:57.51 that you may not appreciate and may actually be wrong 00:07:57.54\00:08:01.21 and bad doesn't give you 00:08:01.24\00:08:03.45 then the license to negate what they said. 00:08:03.48\00:08:06.85 They may be right, you know. On spirit, right. 00:08:06.88\00:08:09.85 Exactly. 00:08:09.88\00:08:11.22 So as Christians and as young people 00:08:11.25\00:08:13.82 especially who are most often the ones 00:08:13.86\00:08:15.79 who are prone to face this kind of thing, 00:08:15.82\00:08:19.23 you know, when that person comes up to us 00:08:19.26\00:08:22.00 and says something that, you know, we don't like it, 00:08:22.03\00:08:24.93 maybe the better part of humility 00:08:24.97\00:08:26.33 would be to say, 00:08:26.37\00:08:27.70 "Okay, I really don't appreciate that." 00:08:27.74\00:08:29.70 And recognize that for what it is, 00:08:29.74\00:08:31.17 you know, it's not good. 00:08:31.21\00:08:32.54 But then at the same time say, "Okay, Lord, search me. 00:08:32.57\00:08:35.51 Am I doing Your will?" 00:08:35.54\00:08:37.61 Because that's really where wisdom comes in. 00:08:37.65\00:08:40.25 Yes. Wow! 00:08:40.28\00:08:41.62 Check our pride at the door. Exactly, exactly. 00:08:41.65\00:08:45.55 Okay. 00:08:45.59\00:08:46.92 Now let's move on to our next question. 00:08:46.96\00:08:48.29 This comes from a female, age 28, 00:08:48.32\00:08:49.79 in the state of Washington. 00:08:49.82\00:08:51.89 "How can we learn to separate the hurtful actions of people 00:08:51.93\00:08:54.73 within our denomination from Adventism itself?" 00:08:54.76\00:08:58.60 Well, first, I just want to say 00:08:58.63\00:08:59.97 that we amongst all faiths are not unique. 00:09:00.00\00:09:03.87 All denominations, all faiths are wrestling 00:09:03.91\00:09:06.17 with bad representatives, right? 00:09:06.21\00:09:08.78 But that does not negate the fact 00:09:08.81\00:09:10.15 that we still have a problem internally 00:09:10.18\00:09:11.71 that we should deal with, right? 00:09:11.75\00:09:13.08 Just make sure that that disclaimer is clear. 00:09:13.11\00:09:15.42 I remember hearing the story of Gandhi, 00:09:15.45\00:09:17.19 Mahatma Gandhi who had heard about 00:09:17.22\00:09:19.09 the teachings of Jesus 00:09:19.12\00:09:20.46 and they were supremely attractive to him 00:09:20.49\00:09:22.26 and he wanted to learn more. 00:09:22.29\00:09:23.63 And so he shows up to a church, 00:09:23.66\00:09:25.89 and I'm going somewhere with this, I promise, 00:09:25.93\00:09:27.33 you may think I'm just making rant, 00:09:27.36\00:09:28.70 "What's this guy doing?" 00:09:28.73\00:09:30.37 But he shows up to a church and one of the elders 00:09:30.40\00:09:32.43 in this church in India 00:09:32.47\00:09:33.80 makes a beeline for the door and says, 00:09:33.84\00:09:35.50 "You are not welcome here." 00:09:35.54\00:09:38.11 And it's because 00:09:38.14\00:09:39.47 there's the caste system in India, 00:09:39.51\00:09:40.88 you know, kind of different tiers of society. 00:09:40.91\00:09:42.68 He wasn't of the right caste and he wasn't white. 00:09:42.71\00:09:45.11 So because of this the guy told him, 00:09:45.15\00:09:46.48 "No, you can't come here. 00:09:46.51\00:09:47.85 You are not welcome there." 00:09:47.88\00:09:49.22 He had another instance where he was staying 00:09:49.25\00:09:50.59 with Christians in South Africa, 00:09:50.62\00:09:51.95 and just a disclaimer here, I love South Africans, 00:09:51.99\00:09:53.49 and I've had some really good roommates 00:09:53.52\00:09:54.86 from South Africa. 00:09:54.89\00:09:56.22 Nothing against South Africans at all, 00:09:56.26\00:09:57.59 just want to make sure that's clear. 00:09:57.63\00:09:58.96 But he had stayed with some bad Christians 00:09:58.99\00:10:00.46 in South Africa 00:10:00.50\00:10:01.83 that were not good examples to him. 00:10:01.86\00:10:03.40 So these two instances lead him to have statements 00:10:03.43\00:10:05.73 that are so much debated on 00:10:05.77\00:10:07.57 how he exactly phrased it but the basic instance was, 00:10:07.60\00:10:10.11 "I would be a Christian were it not for the Christians. 00:10:10.14\00:10:12.67 And Christians are so unlike your Christ. 00:10:12.71\00:10:15.84 And, you know, if all Christians were like Christ, 00:10:15.88\00:10:17.78 the whole world would be Christians." 00:10:17.81\00:10:19.35 These are some potentially apocryphal quotes from Gandhi. 00:10:19.38\00:10:24.99 We've heard, "Are they actually from him? 00:10:25.02\00:10:26.69 Are they not?" 00:10:26.72\00:10:28.06 But the premise stands true to the fact 00:10:28.09\00:10:29.49 that this man was a seeker, he was earnestly seeking. 00:10:29.52\00:10:33.13 But because he had a discouraging experience 00:10:33.16\00:10:34.86 with Christians, 00:10:34.90\00:10:36.23 he decided to close the book on the whole thing and walk. 00:10:36.26\00:10:40.10 What we owe to God is to search 00:10:40.14\00:10:41.84 for ourselves in the Word of God 00:10:41.87\00:10:43.67 whether what He says is true. 00:10:43.71\00:10:45.14 And it's unfortunate 00:10:45.17\00:10:46.51 because God does want His messengers 00:10:46.54\00:10:47.88 to be good representatives. 00:10:47.91\00:10:49.44 But in those moments when they aren't, 00:10:49.48\00:10:51.51 we still owe it to God to search for ourselves to see 00:10:51.55\00:10:54.32 whether it's true, to taste and see for ourselves 00:10:54.35\00:10:56.92 that He is good. 00:10:56.95\00:10:58.29 This is what God is asking from us. 00:10:58.32\00:10:59.99 And I think that's the least we can do 00:11:00.02\00:11:02.59 if He's going to give His only begotten Son. 00:11:02.62\00:11:04.53 If it goes to the heart why are we a Christian, 00:11:04.56\00:11:07.16 why am I a Christian, 00:11:07.20\00:11:08.53 why am I a part of the church that I'm part of? 00:11:08.56\00:11:10.67 We live in a very consumer-minded society, 00:11:10.70\00:11:13.27 and so basically, 00:11:13.30\00:11:14.64 "Well, that church has better music 00:11:14.67\00:11:16.54 and that church has more young people, 00:11:16.57\00:11:17.94 and this church has like, good food." 00:11:17.97\00:11:20.64 Is that how we pick our religion? 00:11:20.68\00:11:22.94 And if we do, we'll always going 00:11:22.98\00:11:25.18 to become disenchanted with the religion. 00:11:25.21\00:11:27.52 And so I really like what you said, Dee, 00:11:27.55\00:11:29.95 we need to come to the heart of the book 00:11:29.98\00:11:32.35 of why we believe 00:11:32.39\00:11:33.72 what we believe and know why we're there. 00:11:33.76\00:11:35.96 Yeah, and, you know, I just too want to say... 00:11:35.99\00:11:38.93 I really want to make an appeal to the young people out there 00:11:38.96\00:11:42.46 who may be are... 00:11:42.50\00:11:43.83 You may be going through this, 00:11:43.87\00:11:45.20 maybe somebody has hurt them, right? 00:11:45.23\00:11:48.80 Don't give up on God. Amen. 00:11:48.84\00:11:50.44 Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. 00:11:50.47\00:11:53.58 You know, I have found a God in this book 00:11:53.61\00:11:57.91 who is incredibly beautiful, incredibly loving, 00:11:57.95\00:12:00.42 and incredibly powerful. 00:12:00.45\00:12:02.08 And that far outweighs any time 00:12:02.12\00:12:05.79 that I've been hurt by somebody in religion. 00:12:05.82\00:12:11.36 You know, it's easy sometimes for us 00:12:11.39\00:12:13.06 to cry hypocrisy and want to leave 00:12:13.09\00:12:16.13 because of all the issues that we see, 00:12:16.16\00:12:18.67 but you know, God is bigger than the issues 00:12:18.70\00:12:21.30 and God isn't the issues. 00:12:21.34\00:12:22.84 Right. 00:12:22.87\00:12:24.21 And I would say with that, Mark. 00:12:24.24\00:12:25.74 Another appeal 00:12:25.77\00:12:27.11 is that your church needs you too. 00:12:27.14\00:12:28.48 Yeah. Yes. 00:12:28.51\00:12:29.84 You know, there are others who are going to have 00:12:29.88\00:12:31.55 that same experience and not come to Jesus maybe 00:12:31.58\00:12:34.15 because of things in the church. 00:12:34.18\00:12:36.18 And if you're not there to help give 00:12:36.22\00:12:38.15 a representation of Jesus, who is. 00:12:38.19\00:12:41.29 So don't give up on Jesus, 00:12:41.32\00:12:43.19 and also don't give up on your church. 00:12:43.22\00:12:45.39 What your church needs 00:12:45.43\00:12:46.76 most is a genuine Christian and that might be you. 00:12:46.80\00:12:48.86 Amen. 00:12:48.90\00:12:50.23 I want to give a brief, brief story. 00:12:50.27\00:12:51.77 I heard a minister tell a story. 00:12:51.80\00:12:53.13 He grew up in a very violent home. 00:12:53.17\00:12:54.50 Mom was a beat-up every single night. 00:12:54.54\00:12:56.20 It was horrible for him. 00:12:56.24\00:12:57.67 Mom saw how hard it was on him and it's dad. 00:12:57.71\00:13:00.11 Dad is a monster, 00:13:00.14\00:13:01.48 dad's caused all these problems. 00:13:01.51\00:13:02.84 And one day she sits him down and she says, 00:13:02.88\00:13:05.11 "Son, I need to talk to you." 00:13:05.15\00:13:06.82 And she says, "So and so is not your father." 00:13:06.85\00:13:09.32 And it's like the whole world is turned upside down. 00:13:09.35\00:13:11.45 "What do mean, dad isn't my dad?" 00:13:11.49\00:13:13.62 And she turns around a picture in her hand, 00:13:13.66\00:13:15.09 it's a teenage boy and she says, 00:13:15.12\00:13:16.86 "This is your father. 00:13:16.89\00:13:18.39 His name is so and so. 00:13:18.43\00:13:19.93 And he never did these things to me. 00:13:19.96\00:13:22.16 He never hit me, he never spoke to me like this. 00:13:22.20\00:13:25.00 He was a teenager, he was scared and he ran 00:13:25.03\00:13:26.84 when I got pregnant, but he never did these things." 00:13:26.87\00:13:29.97 And my appeal to the young people today 00:13:30.01\00:13:31.97 is your father would never do that to you. 00:13:32.01\00:13:34.31 You may think that God endorses, 00:13:34.34\00:13:36.01 that God was involved in this, He's not. 00:13:36.04\00:13:38.15 God doesn't do things like that. 00:13:38.18\00:13:39.91 Now, He wasn't a scared teenager, 00:13:39.95\00:13:41.28 He's always been there for you. 00:13:41.32\00:13:42.65 He's never not been there. But He would never do this. 00:13:42.68\00:13:44.69 This is your Father, 00:13:44.72\00:13:46.35 and He only thinks the best things about you 00:13:46.39\00:13:47.72 and treats you 00:13:47.76\00:13:49.09 as you would love to be treated. 00:13:49.12\00:13:51.16 So thank you.
