about that word destiny,

it's a very powerful
and thought provoking word.

But this word destiny,
talking about our future,

even though it's
thought provoking,
00:00:55.65\00:00:58.02
its seldom thought of
at all in our world today,
00:00:58.05\00:01:02.49
because most people
in our fast pace society
00:01:02.52\00:01:06.26
are too busy
with the here and now
00:01:06.29\00:01:09.53
that they have no time to
give thought to the hereafter,
00:01:09.56\00:01:13.67
to their future,
to their destiny.
00:01:13.70\00:01:16.81
And so we want to
pause to understand
00:01:16.84\00:01:19.11
what is it that
God has called us to do

and where is He calling us
to go and what is the purpose

for our existence
here in this last days.

But the first
question I want to answer is

what is God's desire for us?

As Jesus looks upon us
this morning in church,

as He looks upon the world.

What does Jesus want the
human race to experience?

We don't have to guess,

because Jesus made it
clear in the Book of John 17:24.

Notice what He says,
as we lay the foundation

for our study today.

John 17:24, Jesus
was praying in Gethsemane

and He said, "Father,

I desire that they also
whom You gave Me may," what?

"Be with Me where I am,

that they may behold My
glory which You have given Me."

What is the desire of
Jesus according to this passage?

He desires for us
to simply be with Him.

Friends, listen very carefully.

The God of the
universe has no needs,

because He's God.

He is the source of life.
He is the source of a blessing.

He is the source
of every good thing.

And so God by
nature has no needs,

but He does have some desires.

And the greatest
desire of the Lord,

universe is simply for us,

race to be with Him

where He is that we
might behold His glory.

Friends, it's amazing
when you really think about it,

the great God of the
universe, His primary desire,

His one great desire
is simply to be with you

and to be with me.

Friends think about that

who are you and who am I,

that the great
God of the universe

anything to do with us,

done against Him,

we have spit in His face

ignored His voice

and if the Lord

Here we find, John the Revelator

simply denotes a messenger.

Here's a mighty
messenger of the Lord.

The Bible tells us his
face was shining like the sun.

He was clothed with a cloud,

rainbow around his head,
feet like pillars of fire
00:08:01.54\00:08:04.15
and he has a little
book open in his hand
00:08:04.18\00:08:06.11
and he cries with
a loud lion's voice.
00:08:06.15\00:08:10.05
And friends every one
of those characteristics,

there's a gospel message.

The face shining like the sun,

the rainbow around his
head, feet like pillars of fire.

Every one of them teaches
a very beautiful gospel truth

about God's plan for our lives.

And friends, I
wish we have the time

lives for ever and ever,

who created heaven, and
the things that there in,

the earth, and the
things that therein are,

and the sea, and the
things that are therein,

that there should be."

What are the next three words?

Friends, we find the
messenger come down from heaven.

And he lifts up his
hand to the creator God

and he gives a
verbal loud cry message

that's only three
words, time no longer.

And by the way, one
foot upon the earth,

the other foot upon the sea,

it represents that this
message is a worldwide message.

What kind of message?

It's gonna go
throughout the whole world.

And this message is
a message about time.

It's a message that
says, "Time no longer."

message that deals with time.

of utmost importance

for us to understand exactly
what time no longer means.

And if we don't know who we are,

from the little book

that is open in his hand.

In order words, this little book

of this little book.

The first thing we know is
that it is a what kind of book?

it's small in comparison

to the other books of God.

It is a little book.

And the Bible says that
this little book was opened

which is our
second characteristic,

its open which implies to us

that this little
book was once closed.

implies that it once was closed.

And then notice the
next characteristic,

Revelation 10 now

Give me the little book.

Eat it up, and it

shall be in thy mouth,

book out of the Angel's hand,

So notice the
third characteristic

is that when John
ate this little book.

When he studied
it, when he masticated,

contemplated and cogitated

upon the contents
of this little book,

at first it was a
sweet taste in his mouth.

But then after that, later on,

it gave him a stomach ache.

It was bitter in the belly.

So notice three characteristics,
note them carefully.

Number one, it is a little book.

Number two, it is a open book,

which implies that
it once was closed.

three, this little book,

when the person understood
or studied it at first,

it caused a sweet and
then a bitter experience.

And now I want you to notice,

Have we seen this
before in the Bible?

the Bible do we find

see this in the Bible?

And friends, as we read about

this little
book open that caused

a sweet and then
bitter experience.

The Bible is
actually pointing us back

to the Old
Testament, Book of Daniel,

in order to understand,

what time no
longer really means.

And so notice
with me in Daniel 12:4,

the Bible tells us,

"But thou, O
Daniel, shut up the words,

and seal the
book, even to, when,

the time of the end."

Why, because at
the time of the end,

this book is gonna be opened.

"Seal the book to
the time of the end,

many shall run to and fro,

and knowledge
shall be increased."

What kind of knowledge?

Knowledge about the
contents of the little book.

So we find God telling
Daniel the prophet very clearly

one that he had written,

it is gonna be
closed, it's gonna be shut

onto the time of the end.

And at the time of the end,

knowledge of this book
is going to be increased.

And so we find
that the little book

that is open in Revelation 10

is none other than
the Book of Daniel.

according to the Bible.

Jesus is gonna come

cleanse the sanctuary.

But here's the
thing, they believed

that the
sanctuary was the earth.

And that the only way
the earth could be cleansed

was by fire that will take place
at the second coming of Christ.

And so this is what happened.

As they realize that
this prophecy was fulfilled,

it was gonna be
fulfilled in 1844.

They began to teach and preach,

Jesus is coming back
to the earth in 1844,

And friends, this message
went throughout the whole world.

People were excited.
You see, they thought.

Listen, they thought that time

no longer meant the end of time
in the second coming of Christ,

that's what they believed.

Why, because they
assumed that the sanctuary

was the earth,
but then when Jesus
00:21:03.22\00:21:06.56
did not come in 1844,

that which was at
first sweet in the mouth

became bitter in the belly.

They suffered a bitter,
a terrible disappointment.

Many of those people who thought

that Jesus was
gonna come in that year.

Many of them lost
faith in God completely.

Some of them became atheists
and infidels and skeptics.

It was a bitter experience
too bitter for them to endure.

But friends,

there was a
small group of people.

We can say a remnant

though their faith
was dramatically shaken,

they got together after
the disappointment in 1844

and they went to prayer,
they went to Bible study.

And friends, this
small group of people

that was made up of individuals

from many different
types of denominations,

they got together and
they poured all the scriptures,

trying to find where
they had got it wrong.

Perhaps they
miscalculated the time prophecy,

but when they went back
to look at the 2,300 days,

they saw that 1844

was a solid date,
confirm by history.

They knew that something
indeed happened in that year.

And by the way, they
would spend entire nights

in prayer and Bible study.

And they realized that
they have the right date,

but they have the wrong event.

They thought that the
sanctuary was the earth,

but when they
went back to study,

they realize that there
was not one verse in the Bible

that said that the
sanctuary was the earth.

They had assumed
it, but they were wrong

in that assumption.

And so they began to see that

God has another
sanctuary in the heavens.

And that in that year it
was the heavenly sanctuary

that was gonna be cleansed.

And the Bible tells
us in Proverbs 27:7,

"To a hungry soul
every bitter thing is," what?

You see, friends, it
was a bitter disappointment.

But that bitterness
started to turn sweet again,

as now the Lord was helping them
00:22:58.57\00:22:59.87
to have a deeper understanding

of that which they did
not understand to begin with.

God led them through the
spirit to the Book of Hebrews.

And they learn that there
was a sanctuary in heaven.

And that Jesus is
our heavenly high priest.

And they realize that in 1844,

instead of Jesus coming back

to cleanse the

that rather He would step

of this discovery

began a movement that would
sweep across the whole world.

You see this is
what they understood.

And looking back in
that 2,300 day prophecy

that was fulfilled in 1844.

They realize that
in 1844, it wasn't time

no longer in the
sense of the end of time,

in the end of the
world, but they understood

that it refer to
prophetic time no longer.

What kind of time?

In other words, the last
time prophecy is fulfilled.

And now Jesus is cleansing
the heavenly sanctuary.

know when He's gonna

step out of the sanctuary
and probation will close

early group of people,

they began to realize

referring to time itself

prophetic time was no longer.

of this discovery

was born a prophetic

worldwide movement that would
sweep across the whole world

This is how the
Seventh-day Adventist Church

was born brothers and sisters.

It was born out of the
discovery of Bible prophecy.

But some might be asking,

well, how could this
movement really be of God,

movement began and was born

out of a disappointment that
was rooted in a misunderstanding

How can this
movement really be of God,

if it began with the
mistake, a misunderstanding?

Well, friends, you
see God uses trials

in order to sift His church,

but also to
strengthen His church.

You see when the
great disappointment

took place in 1844.

There were thousands of
people that believed in it,

but many of
them were shaken out,

they were sifted.

It was God's way of
cleansing the church,

of sifting out all
those surface seekers

that were not truly converted.

But it was also
way of solidifying

the faith of those
who are truly sincere.

And friends, we see
this example in the Bible,

you remember
Gideon and his army.

There was too much, right?

And so God had to
shake and sift it. Why?

Because just like Gideon's army,

God eliminated those who are not
00:26:00.26\00:26:01.69
completely
committed to Him in His cause,

because God is not dependent
upon the multitudes, friends.

God can do more with less.

A people, who
are truly committed.

God can do more with one man,

consecrated, committed to Him

They too suffered a
great disappointment

when Jesus died on the cross.

Their faith was
dramatically shaken to the core.

They said those
disciples on the road to Emmaus.

They said, "We
thought that this was the one.

But now He has been dead."

You see, their faith was shaken.

They experienced a
bitter disappointment,

but friends why
was the disappointment,

why was the cross such a bitter
disappointment to the disciples?

cross was the foundation

of the hope of all of humanity.

looked upon the cross

as a source of disappointment.

And here's the reason why
is because those disciples,

forward to the exact date

Messiah would be cut off.

that pointed to this event,

but because they
misunderstood and misapplied it,

bitter disappointment

and God allowed this to happen.

Why? To sift the church.

friends, when that happen

Judas, he was shaken out.

purify the church

disciples to be disappointed.

through that experience.

then went to the upper room
