Because the Bible tells us so. 00:02:57.35\00:03:00.12 Notice what the Bible tells us in Isaiah 63:13-14. 00:03:00.15\00:03:04.34 Notice what the horse is a symbol of in the Bible. 00:03:04.37\00:03:07.81 Isaiah 63:13-14, the Bible says, 00:03:07.84\00:03:10.72 "That led them through the deep, 00:03:10.75\00:03:11.92 as an horse in the wilderness, 00:03:11.95\00:03:14.54 that they should not stumble. 00:03:14.57\00:03:16.28 So didst thou lead thy people, 00:03:16.31\00:03:19.43 to make thyself a glorious name." 00:03:19.46\00:03:21.63 So in this passage, we see God likening 00:03:21.66\00:03:24.71 a man leading a horse to the wilderness as himself 00:03:24.74\00:03:28.05 who led his people through the wilderness. 00:03:28.08\00:03:30.37 And so we see that the horse is a symbol of God's people, 00:03:30.40\00:03:34.03 it represents the Church of God. 00:03:34.06\00:03:36.43 In fact, notice another one. 00:03:36.46\00:03:37.55 Please, write it down. 00:03:37.58\00:03:38.85 In Zechariah 10:3, the Bible tells us, 00:03:38.88\00:03:41.62 "For the Lord of hosts has visited his flock 00:03:41.65\00:03:45.07 the house of Judah, 00:03:45.10\00:03:46.59 and hath made them as his goodly, what? 00:03:46.62\00:03:50.37 As his goodly horse in the battle." 00:03:50.40\00:03:53.04 And so we find these 00:03:53.07\00:03:54.29 four horsemen represents God's people, 00:03:54.32\00:03:56.64 the house of Judah, spiritual Israel or his church, 00:03:56.67\00:03:59.89 but it represents the church 00:03:59.92\00:04:01.06 in four different ages throughout history. 00:04:01.09\00:04:03.98 And so let's go through them together. 00:04:04.01\00:04:05.20 Notice the first horse in Revelation 6:1. 00:04:05.23\00:04:09.82 "And I saw when the lamb opened one of the seals, 00:04:09.85\00:04:12.41 and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, 00:04:12.44\00:04:14.51 one of the four beasts saying, 'Come and see.' 00:04:14.54\00:04:16.67 And I saw, and behold a, what, kind of a horse? 00:04:16.70\00:04:19.57 A white horse, and he that sat on him had a bow, 00:04:19.60\00:04:22.68 and a crown was given unto him 00:04:22.71\00:04:24.68 and he went forth conquering, and to conquer." 00:04:24.71\00:04:28.30 Here, we find the first horse that comes upon the scene. 00:04:28.33\00:04:31.12 Its color is white which a color of purity. 00:04:31.15\00:04:34.29 The Bible tells us that this horse and the rider 00:04:34.32\00:04:36.46 went forth conquering and to conquer. 00:04:36.49\00:04:38.51 A crown was upon his head 00:04:38.54\00:04:40.12 and a bow with arrows were in his hand. 00:04:40.15\00:04:42.73 And, friends, the New Testament believers 00:04:42.76\00:04:44.03 understood the symbol of the white horse, 00:04:44.06\00:04:46.38 it represented righteous pure victory. 00:04:46.41\00:04:50.35 Friends, this was during the time 00:04:50.38\00:04:51.90 when the church of God was a triumphant, 00:04:51.93\00:04:54.61 victorious, pure and a righteous church. 00:04:54.64\00:04:57.72 You see, the rider upon the horse 00:04:57.75\00:04:59.57 that wears the crown represents Christ. 00:04:59.60\00:05:01.81 who is the head of the church. 00:05:01.84\00:05:03.39 And he's going forth to conquer souls 00:05:03.42\00:05:05.68 from the kingdom of darkness, 00:05:05.71\00:05:07.23 not with the force of arms and military might, 00:05:07.26\00:05:09.78 but he's conquering individuals with the arrows of the truth, 00:05:09.81\00:05:14.15 the Holy Spirit conviction 00:05:14.18\00:05:16.29 that pierces the hearts of individuals 00:05:16.32\00:05:18.75 with the truth of God's word. 00:05:18.78\00:05:20.10 It was the time that souls were rescued 00:05:20.13\00:05:22.42 from the kingdom of darkness 00:05:22.45\00:05:23.80 and they were conquered for the kingdom of light. 00:05:23.83\00:05:26.31 Friends, this was during the time 00:05:26.34\00:05:27.81 of the early apostolic church. 00:05:27.84\00:05:29.66 The what time period? The early apostolic church. 00:05:29.69\00:05:33.45 The time that multitudes were conquered 00:05:33.48\00:05:35.28 by the gospel of Jesus Christ, the arrows of truth. 00:05:35.31\00:05:37.69 And by the way, friends, 00:05:37.72\00:05:38.77 we find parallel imagery of God's pure church, 00:05:38.80\00:05:41.75 the early apostolic church in Revelation 12. 00:05:41.78\00:05:44.48 We're going to study this more in detail tomorrow evening. 00:05:44.51\00:05:46.63 But in the Revelation 12, 00:05:46.66\00:05:48.57 we find the early apostolic church 00:05:48.60\00:05:50.03 also clothed in pure white garments. 00:05:50.06\00:05:53.81 And so we find that it's a symbol of purity 00:05:53.84\00:05:56.94 and the reason why they are white, 00:05:56.97\00:05:58.53 they are pure is because they receive their doctrines 00:05:58.56\00:06:01.71 directly from the lips of Christ, 00:06:01.74\00:06:03.84 untainted and uncorrupted by human error and tradition. 00:06:03.87\00:06:08.77 You see, both the woman and the white horse 00:06:08.80\00:06:11.33 represents the time of the early apostolic church 00:06:11.36\00:06:13.54 when the Christian faith was a powerful 00:06:13.57\00:06:16.12 and a pure conquering faith. 00:06:16.15\00:06:18.33 Once again, it was pure 00:06:18.36\00:06:19.39 because they received it directly from Jesus. 00:06:19.42\00:06:21.85 And, friends, when the church has a pure 00:06:21.88\00:06:23.79 and true message, 00:06:23.82\00:06:25.12 you can be sure that God is going to bless that church. 00:06:25.15\00:06:27.03 Can you say amen? 00:06:27.06\00:06:28.16 He's going to bless that church with Holy Spirit power 00:06:28.19\00:06:31.56 to conquer the kingdom of darkness 00:06:31.59\00:06:34.05 and to rescue souls from the kingdom of darkness 00:06:34.08\00:06:36.62 and to bring them into the kingdom of light. 00:06:36.65\00:06:38.77 You see, now God can bless them, 00:06:38.80\00:06:40.91 they are saved for Him to bless 00:06:40.94\00:06:42.82 with the Holy Spirit power. 00:06:42.85\00:06:44.16 And this, brother and sisters, 00:06:44.19\00:06:45.35 is what empowered the evangelism 00:06:45.38\00:06:47.69 of the early apostolic church. 00:06:47.72\00:06:49.22 Notice how they describe in Acts 5:14, 00:06:49.25\00:06:53.81 the Bible tells us, 00:06:53.84\00:06:54.87 "The believers were increasingly added to the Lord, 00:06:54.90\00:06:57.58 multitudes both of men and of women." 00:06:57.61\00:07:00.57 On the day of Pentecost, 00:07:00.60\00:07:01.63 3,000 souls were baptized in a day. 00:07:01.66\00:07:04.44 The church was triumphing over the kingdom of darkness. 00:07:04.47\00:07:07.95 And, brother and sisters, the reason why 00:07:07.98\00:07:09.59 is because they had a pure message. 00:07:09.62\00:07:11.16 So God was able to bless them, they were saved to bless. 00:07:11.19\00:07:14.20 You see, God is not going to bless a church 00:07:14.23\00:07:16.06 that has a false message. 00:07:16.09\00:07:17.12 Can you say amen? 00:07:17.15\00:07:18.67 When the church has a pure message, 00:07:18.70\00:07:20.55 it's then that convergence, 00:07:20.58\00:07:22.35 true convergence are going to take place, 00:07:22.38\00:07:24.69 not emotionalism, 00:07:24.72\00:07:26.10 not just an increase of membership, 00:07:26.13\00:07:28.39 but an increase of spirituality. 00:07:28.42\00:07:30.95 And this is what happened, brother and sisters. 00:07:30.98\00:07:32.51 In fact, I want you to notice 00:07:32.54\00:07:33.60 the model of the early apostolic church, 00:07:33.63\00:07:35.08 those early apostle said in Acts 5:29. 00:07:35.11\00:07:37.86 They said, "We ought to obey God rather than men." 00:07:37.89\00:07:41.94 In other words, they were not concerned 00:07:41.97\00:07:43.32 with peace and harmony 00:07:43.35\00:07:44.92 with the other religious leaders of that day. 00:07:44.95\00:07:47.01 They esteemed the truth of God's word 00:07:47.04\00:07:49.11 and obedience to God above the laws 00:07:49.14\00:07:51.58 and the wills and the desires of other people. 00:07:51.61\00:07:54.48 And, friends, this was the time of the early apostolic church 00:07:54.51\00:07:56.94 and it lasted from around 31 to about 100 AD. 00:07:56.97\00:08:00.54 Now, friends, mind you, this is not a time prophecy 00:08:00.57\00:08:03.32 so these are approximate dates. 00:08:03.35\00:08:04.63 When you look in history, 00:08:04.66\00:08:05.85 you find that during these time periods 00:08:05.88\00:08:07.54 the church was triumphing 00:08:07.57\00:08:09.23 and it fits the characteristics. 00:08:09.26\00:08:11.37 From the time of the resurrection 00:08:11.40\00:08:12.61 of the Christ to about 100 AD, 00:08:12.64\00:08:15.21 the Christian faith was a pure conquering faith. 00:08:15.24\00:08:18.54 And, friends, Satan tried his best 00:08:18.57\00:08:22.00 to destroy the church of God. 00:08:22.03\00:08:23.99 Satan had to do something and he had to do it fast. 00:08:24.02\00:08:27.18 And so now we find the next prophetic picture of the horse 00:08:27.21\00:08:30.26 comes upon the scene. 00:08:30.29\00:08:31.38 And now the color is no longer white, 00:08:31.41\00:08:33.35 but it's red which is the color of blood. 00:08:33.38\00:08:35.86 Notice what the Bible says now in Verse 4, 00:08:35.89\00:08:38.11 "And there went another horse--" 00:08:38.14\00:08:40.58 That was what color? 00:08:40.61\00:08:41.78 "And powers given to him 00:08:41.81\00:08:43.43 that sat there on to take peace from the earth 00:08:43.46\00:08:45.93 and that they should kill one another. 00:08:45.96\00:08:47.63 And there was given unto him a great sour." 00:08:47.66\00:08:50.39 Here we find a rough rider in red. 00:08:50.42\00:08:53.29 The color of purity changes 00:08:53.32\00:08:54.97 to the color of bloody persecution. 00:08:55.00\00:08:57.42 This is what it represents. 00:08:57.45\00:08:58.80 If you study history you'll notice 00:08:58.83\00:09:00.47 that Satan influenced the pagan Romans. 00:09:00.50\00:09:04.14 Roman leaders like Nero and Diocletian to began, 00:09:04.17\00:09:08.11 to torture the early apostolic church. 00:09:08.14\00:09:10.97 They were put to death in cruel and hideous ways. 00:09:11.00\00:09:14.03 You see, friends, the purity of their faith 00:09:14.06\00:09:16.64 was an open rebuke to the wickedness 00:09:16.67\00:09:19.36 of the pagan Romans. 00:09:19.39\00:09:20.81 And by the way, friends, 00:09:20.84\00:09:21.87 recently I got the chance to visit Rome just last April. 00:09:21.90\00:09:24.76 And when I was there, 00:09:24.79\00:09:25.82 I went to the coliseum there at Rome. 00:09:25.85\00:09:27.60 It was in the coliseum 00:09:27.63\00:09:29.74 that Christians were thrown to be devoured 00:09:29.77\00:09:32.71 by wild animals, burnt at the stake 00:09:32.74\00:09:35.64 as the form of entertainment for the pagan Romans. 00:09:35.67\00:09:39.60 Satan began a fierce error of bloody red persecution. 00:09:39.63\00:09:42.40 When I was in Rome, 00:09:42.43\00:09:43.46 I also got the chance to visit the Church of the Martyrs, 00:09:43.49\00:09:46.37 that the church right there in the Vatican. 00:09:46.40\00:09:48.39 And on the walls of this church are pictures. 00:09:48.42\00:09:50.84 Do you see it? 00:09:50.87\00:09:51.90 And these pictures depict actual executions of actual Christians. 00:09:51.93\00:09:57.91 These were not just story telling, 00:09:57.94\00:10:00.34 these were real people. 00:10:00.37\00:10:02.09 Under each picture was the names and the dates of individuals 00:10:02.12\00:10:06.43 who had dies these cruel and torturous deaths. 00:10:06.46\00:10:08.26 And, friends, notice some of the ways 00:10:08.29\00:10:09.70 that the Christians died. 00:10:09.73\00:10:11.35 They were tortured, brother and sisters. 00:10:11.38\00:10:13.45 They were-- They had their tongues cut off 00:10:13.48\00:10:15.16 and their hands cut off, very cruel. 00:10:15.19\00:10:17.16 By the pagan Romans, 00:10:17.19\00:10:18.40 Satan tried to destroy the church of God. 00:10:18.43\00:10:21.09 And many of them were faced 00:10:21.12\00:10:22.71 and offered an easy way out of a very cruel death. 00:10:22.74\00:10:26.60 So they said to the Christians, 00:10:26.63\00:10:28.46 all you have to do is acknowledge 00:10:28.49\00:10:29.71 and supremacy of the Caesar. 00:10:29.74\00:10:31.60 Just offer little incense and bow down to our pagan idols 00:10:31.63\00:10:34.66 and we will spare you a cruel and torturous death. 00:10:34.69\00:10:38.48 Just bow to the idol, 00:10:38.51\00:10:39.90 kiss the ring of the Caesar or the governors. 00:10:39.93\00:10:43.71 And, friends, these individuals, 00:10:43.74\00:10:45.14 these Christians they would rather die 00:10:45.17\00:10:47.64 with the promise of eternal life rather than live a lie. 00:10:47.67\00:10:51.95 They faced death with courage, brother and sisters. 00:10:51.98\00:10:55.08 They were not afraid to die 00:10:55.11\00:10:56.88 because they have the hope of a resurrection. 00:10:56.91\00:10:58.82 And so the red horse time period 00:10:58.85\00:11:00.22 lasted for around 100 AD to about 313 AD. 00:11:00.25\00:11:03.41 You see, their faith was greater than the fires of persecution. 00:11:03.44\00:11:07.75 Death could not defeat the church of God 00:11:07.78\00:11:11.06 because the more they were persecuted, 00:11:11.09\00:11:13.10 the more they actually grew in number. 00:11:13.13\00:11:15.76 Did you know that? 00:11:15.79\00:11:16.82 Satan tried to destroy them by persecution, 00:11:16.85\00:11:19.21 but it wasn't working. 00:11:19.24\00:11:20.35 The more they were persecuted, 00:11:20.38\00:11:21.41 the more they began to grow in number. 00:11:21.44\00:11:23.59 They were burnt alive, 00:11:23.62\00:11:24.67 but they were singing while they were burning. 00:11:24.70\00:11:26.13 How could that be? 00:11:26.16\00:11:27.69 It seems that there was no pain in their continence 00:11:27.72\00:11:30.63 but only peace and calm rest and assurance. 00:11:30.66\00:11:34.17 Now as the pagan persecutors 00:11:34.20\00:11:35.73 lift upon the continence of Christians, 00:11:35.76\00:11:37.49 these pagans realize that they were strangers to such hope 00:11:37.52\00:11:41.36 that they did not know the peace 00:11:41.39\00:11:43.62 and the joy that these Christians had. 00:11:43.65\00:11:45.71 You see, these Christians testified with their blood 00:11:45.74\00:11:48.46 in the power of the gospel 00:11:48.49\00:11:51.16 that is stronger than even death. 00:11:51.19\00:11:54.13 And the pagans began to desire what these Christians have. 00:11:54.16\00:11:56.92 And so as one would die for the faith, 00:11:56.95\00:11:59.80 ten will spring up and say, 00:11:59.83\00:12:01.27 "I want what that Christian had. 00:12:01.30\00:12:03.05 I now want to accept the peace of Jesus." 00:12:03.08\00:12:05.33 And so the more they were mowed down, 00:12:05.36\00:12:07.61 the more they grew in number. 00:12:07.64\00:12:09.37 And by the way, brother and sisters, 00:12:09.40\00:12:10.63 if you want to win your love ones to Jesus, 00:12:10.66\00:12:12.46 follow that example, live like a Christian, 00:12:12.49\00:12:14.71 let individuals, let your family members 00:12:14.74\00:12:16.48 and you friends and your neighbors and your co-workers, 00:12:16.51\00:12:18.30 see the peace of Jesus in your life, 00:12:18.33\00:12:21.05 even in the midst of trial and tribulation 00:12:21.08\00:12:23.62 and conflict and financial difficulties 00:12:23.65\00:12:25.75 and be diagnosed with diseases. 00:12:25.78\00:12:27.86 Let them see that you have peace and calm assurance. 00:12:27.89\00:12:30.63 Don't let anything in this world move you, stand firm. 00:12:30.66\00:12:34.81 And as individuals, as your family member 00:12:34.84\00:12:36.68 see that you are unmoved by the trials of life, 00:12:36.71\00:12:39.75 they are going to say, "Wow, you have something. 00:12:39.78\00:12:41.40 What is it about you? I want what you have." 00:12:41.43\00:12:44.26 And then you have opportunity to tell them, 00:12:44.29\00:12:45.62 "It's not me, it's Jesus." 00:12:45.65\00:12:47.67 Can you say amen? Amen. 00:12:47.70\00:12:49.03 And you give the glory to God. 00:12:49.06\00:12:50.72 And that's exactly what took place, brother and sisters. 00:12:50.75\00:12:53.19 And by the way persecution 00:12:53.22\00:12:54.94 kept the church pure from compromise 00:12:54.97\00:12:57.67 because those who joined the church, 00:12:57.70\00:12:59.36 they realized that by doing so, 00:12:59.39\00:13:00.85 they can very easily loose their lives. 00:13:00.88\00:13:04.21 And so it was serious conversions, 00:13:04.24\00:13:06.65 serious commitments that were taking place. 00:13:06.68\00:13:09.59 And Satan saw that persecution 00:13:09.62\00:13:11.24 could not destroy the church of God. 00:13:11.27\00:13:13.01 The more they-- 00:13:13.04\00:13:14.07 They were persecuted the more they grew. 00:13:14.10\00:13:15.19 And so what Satan had to do, 00:13:15.22\00:13:16.78 he had to change his strategy 00:13:16.81\00:13:19.35 because God's people die 00:13:19.38\00:13:21.31 with the blessed hope burning in their hearts. 00:13:21.34\00:13:24.62 So persecution wasn't working, 00:13:24.65\00:13:26.75 so he changed his strategy. 00:13:26.78\00:13:27.92 And basically this is what the devil said, 00:13:27.95\00:13:29.69 "If I can't beat them outwardly 00:13:29.72\00:13:32.53 then I will join them." 00:13:32.56\00:13:33.59 If you can't beat them, join them, right? 00:13:33.62\00:13:35.54 If I can't beat them outwardly then I will join them 00:13:35.57\00:13:38.09 and I will corrupt them from the inside out. 00:13:38.12\00:13:42.15 And this is where the next horse comes upon the scene. 00:13:42.18\00:13:44.33 Notice with me now in verse 5, Revelation 6:5. 00:13:44.36\00:13:48.09 The Bible tells us, 00:13:48.12\00:13:49.37 "And when he had opened the third seal, 00:13:49.40\00:13:50.70 I heard the third beast say, 'Come and see. 00:13:50.73\00:13:52.62 And I beheld, and lo a--'" What color horse? 00:13:52.65\00:13:55.11 "A black horse 00:13:55.14\00:13:56.17 and he that sat on him had a pair of balances, 00:13:56.20\00:13:59.18 some scales in his hand. 00:13:59.21\00:14:00.66 And I heard the voice 00:14:00.69\00:14:01.72 in the midst of the four beasts say, 00:14:01.75\00:14:03.14 'A measure of wheat for a penny, 00:14:03.17\00:14:04.94 and three measures of barley for a penny, 00:14:04.97\00:14:06.90 and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.'" 00:14:06.93\00:14:10.58 Here we find a bargaining rider in black. 00:14:10.61\00:14:14.41 And, friends, as you noticed that he's offering, 00:14:14.44\00:14:16.88 he has a pairs of balances, scales in his hand 00:14:16.91\00:14:19.99 and if you calculate what he's offering 00:14:20.02\00:14:22.02 for what he's asking for, 00:14:22.05\00:14:23.21 he's asking for too much for too little in return. 00:14:23.24\00:14:27.84 You see the black horse time period represents the time 00:14:27.87\00:14:30.40 when compromise and corruption crept within the church. 00:14:30.43\00:14:34.26 In fact, I want you to notice 00:14:34.29\00:14:35.46 what the Bible tells us in the Book of Proverbs. 00:14:35.49\00:14:37.78 Proverbs 11:1, the Bible says that, 00:14:37.81\00:14:41.10 "A false or a deceitful balance is," what? 00:14:41.13\00:14:45.89 "Abomination to the Lord, 00:14:45.92\00:14:47.30 but a just weight is his delight." 00:14:47.33\00:14:49.52 You see, the balance, 00:14:49.55\00:14:50.58 the scale he has in his hand is a false balance. 00:14:50.61\00:14:53.36 In other words, it was during the time 00:14:53.39\00:14:54.64 when the church deceit and false 00:14:54.67\00:14:57.08 doctrines began to creep within the church. 00:14:57.11\00:15:01.07 Deception and compromise, but untold abominations 00:15:01.10\00:15:04.28 and things that were not according to the will 00:15:04.31\00:15:06.64 and the word of God. 00:15:06.67\00:15:07.70 You see, friend, the dark horse time period 00:15:07.73\00:15:09.38 represents the time when the Christians faith 00:15:09.41\00:15:11.87 was a compromised and corrupted faith. 00:15:11.90\00:15:15.12 Well, corruption is that came from paganism crept within. 00:15:15.15\00:15:18.08 Satan changed his strategy 00:15:18.11\00:15:19.91 and he infiltrated the church bringing a false light, 00:15:19.94\00:15:23.62 a false balance. 00:15:23.65\00:15:24.76 It's the time that paganism entered into the church 00:15:24.79\00:15:28.11 and corrupted it from the inside out. 00:15:28.14\00:15:29.81 And, friends, we find that there's also a famine 00:15:29.84\00:15:32.16 during this time period. 00:15:32.19\00:15:33.46 The rider is asking for too much for too little in return, 00:15:33.49\00:15:38.44 represents a time of famine, the famine of God's truth, 00:15:38.47\00:15:41.51 the world of God as the church began to take advantage 00:15:41.54\00:15:44.61 of the weakness of the people. 00:15:44.64\00:15:46.05 And, friends, this black horse time period 00:15:46.08\00:15:48.03 is a fit description 00:15:48.06\00:15:49.48 of the beginning of the Medieval Church, 00:15:49.51\00:15:51.92 the church that began during, around the Dark Ages. 00:15:51.95\00:15:55.07 And by the way, friends, the Apostle Paul prophesied 00:15:55.10\00:15:57.91 that corruption would creep within. 00:15:57.94\00:15:59.65 Notice what he said in the 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 00:15:59.68\00:16:02.58 "That day will not come unless the--" what? 00:16:02.61\00:16:06.61 "Falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed." 00:16:06.64\00:16:11.21 You see, that expression, the falling away. 00:16:11.24\00:16:13.33 In the Greek, it's the word, 00:16:13.36\00:16:14.90 the expression the great apostasy. 00:16:14.93\00:16:16.54 In other words, the apostle was saying 00:16:16.57\00:16:18.05 that a great apostasy would take place 00:16:18.08\00:16:20.55 within the church as the man of sin, 00:16:20.58\00:16:22.52 the anti-Christ will now come within the temple of God 00:16:22.55\00:16:25.77 sitting in the do New Testament church, 00:16:25.80\00:16:28.06 corrupting it from the inside out. 00:16:28.09\00:16:30.43 Well, how would apostasy take hold in the church? 00:16:30.46\00:16:32.73 Notice, in Acts 20:29-30, the apostle wrote, 00:16:32.76\00:16:36.76 "For I know this, that after my departing--" 00:16:36.79\00:16:39.58 Stop right there. 00:16:39.61\00:16:40.77 The Apostle Paul lived in what color horse time period? 00:16:40.80\00:16:43.86 What color horse time period the Apostle Paul lived? 00:16:43.89\00:16:45.76 In the white horse, right? 00:16:45.79\00:16:47.07 And he's saying, "After my departing." 00:16:47.10\00:16:48.66 In other words, after the white horse time period. 00:16:48.69\00:16:50.89 "Shall grievous wolves enter in among you, 00:16:50.92\00:16:53.54 not sparing the flock?" 00:16:53.57\00:16:54.64 In other words, wolves will begin to devour the sheep. 00:16:54.67\00:16:56.55 What color horse time period does that sound like? 00:16:56.58\00:16:58.33 That sounds like red, doesn't it? 00:16:58.36\00:17:00.00 Where wolves will come into persecute the flock of God, 00:17:00.03\00:17:02.62 but then after that notice, 00:17:02.65\00:17:04.60 "Also of your own selves shall men arise, 00:17:04.63\00:17:08.59 speaking--" What kind of things? 00:17:08.62\00:17:10.59 "Perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." 00:17:10.62\00:17:13.60 That's the black horse time period, 00:17:13.63\00:17:14.81 friends, where Satan changes his strategy, 00:17:14.84\00:17:17.65 instead of devouring the sheep, 00:17:17.68\00:17:19.59 he clothes himself in the garments of a sheep. 00:17:19.62\00:17:22.06 A wolf in the sheep's clothing 00:17:22.09\00:17:23.41 and he enters within the church speaking perverse things, 00:17:23.44\00:17:26.64 blaspheming, things that are not according to God's word. 00:17:26.67\00:17:30.49 And instead of using force, Satan would use flattering, 00:17:30.52\00:17:34.55 instead of using weapons, he would use false words. 00:17:34.58\00:17:37.93 In fact, Daniel described 00:17:37.96\00:17:38.99 the same time period in Daniel 8:12. 00:17:39.02\00:17:42.31 Notice what it says, 00:17:42.34\00:17:43.45 "He cast down the truth to the ground, 00:17:43.48\00:17:45.89 and it, speaking about deception and deceive, 00:17:45.92\00:17:48.41 it practiced and it prospered." 00:17:48.44\00:17:50.88 During this time period, the truth of God's word 00:17:50.91\00:17:52.84 was trumped upon 00:17:52.87\00:17:53.99 and error and false doctrine began to prosper. 00:17:54.02\00:17:56.76 And during these time periods, 00:17:56.79\00:17:57.82 salvation through Christ was replaced 00:17:57.85\00:18:00.12 by the requirements of the church. 00:18:00.15\00:18:02.27 And not only that, but the teachings of God's word 00:18:02.30\00:18:04.90 were approve now by church councils instead of the Bible. 00:18:04.93\00:18:09.48 And how in the world could this happen to the church? 00:18:09.51\00:18:12.48 Well, let me give you the historical setting. 00:18:12.51\00:18:14.75 The historical setting is this. 00:18:14.78\00:18:17.03 The pagan Roman Empire was falling apart. 00:18:17.06\00:18:20.66 It was beginning to fall, 00:18:20.69\00:18:22.42 not only where the barbarian tribes 00:18:22.45\00:18:25.08 invading different territories of the pagan empire, 00:18:25.11\00:18:28.29 but Rome itself was a divided kingdom 00:18:28.32\00:18:30.67 and that which brought division 00:18:30.70\00:18:32.06 was there two major religions fighting for supremacy. 00:18:32.09\00:18:35.59 Paganism and Christianity. 00:18:35.62\00:18:37.91 And, friends, Constantine realized 00:18:37.94\00:18:40.44 that a divided kingdom cannot stand. 00:18:40.47\00:18:43.47 And so paganism was the state religion 00:18:43.50\00:18:46.02 and the pagans were actually persecuting the Christians. 00:18:46.05\00:18:49.29 And so in order to save the divided kingdom of Rome, 00:18:49.32\00:18:52.78 Constantine united the two religions, 00:18:52.81\00:18:55.31 paganism and Christianity. How? 00:18:55.34\00:18:57.87 By introducing a compromise between the two religions. 00:18:57.90\00:19:02.16 Constantine claimed to have 00:19:02.19\00:19:03.89 a dramatic conversion to Christianity 00:19:03.92\00:19:06.37 and he then made Christianity 00:19:06.40\00:19:08.28 the state religion in the Roman Empire. 00:19:08.31\00:19:11.21 So from being pagan Rome, 00:19:11.24\00:19:13.11 it now was transferred into papal Rome. 00:19:13.14\00:19:16.96 He made Christianity state religion. 00:19:16.99\00:19:18.69 But, friends, he was not truly converted. 00:19:18.72\00:19:20.84 This was strictly a political move 00:19:20.87\00:19:22.99 in order to save the divided empire of Rome. 00:19:23.02\00:19:25.97 You see, Constantine was not converted. 00:19:26.00\00:19:28.83 He was still a pagan at heart 00:19:28.86\00:19:31.18 and in joining the Christian church 00:19:31.21\00:19:33.60 he did not renounce paganism, 00:19:33.63\00:19:35.70 he simply brought it right into the church. 00:19:35.73\00:19:39.56 In fact, notice what history tells us, 00:19:39.59\00:19:41.11 it describes this time period, 00:19:41.14\00:19:42.96 "In the interval between the days of the apostles 00:19:42.99\00:19:45.61 and the conversion of Constantine, 00:19:45.64\00:19:47.96 rites and ceremonies of which neither Paul 00:19:47.99\00:19:50.30 nor Peter ever heard, crept silently into use, 00:19:50.33\00:19:54.60 and then claimed the rank of--" What? "Of divine institutions." 00:19:54.63\00:19:59.18 You see, the Christians. 00:19:59.21\00:20:00.31 Many of the Christians at Rome accepted the compromise 00:20:00.34\00:20:02.51 because they wee tired of being persecuted. 00:20:02.54\00:20:04.60 They said to the pagans, okay, you're going 00:20:04.63\00:20:05.96 to become Christians, wonderful, wonderful. 00:20:05.99\00:20:08.13 You can come right on in. 00:20:08.16\00:20:10.52 And with them came pagan doctrines and practices. 00:20:10.55\00:20:14.92 And the mind set was this, 00:20:14.95\00:20:16.07 how can we as Christians make Christianity 00:20:16.10\00:20:19.41 more comfortable for the pagan converts. 00:20:19.44\00:20:23.66 And so what did they do? 00:20:23.69\00:20:25.45 They did exactly what many churches are doing today, 00:20:25.48\00:20:28.38 they lowered the standard of truth, 00:20:28.41\00:20:30.70 they watered down the message of the gospel 00:20:30.73\00:20:32.95 for the sake of having a larger membership. 00:20:32.98\00:20:35.57 Friends, this is a terrible thing 00:20:35.60\00:20:37.55 because what they did. 00:20:37.58\00:20:38.93 It corrupted the Christian Church. 00:20:38.96\00:20:41.27 In fact, notice what happened. 00:20:41.30\00:20:42.38 The development of Christian Doctrine on page 372, 00:20:42.41\00:20:45.79 another historical reference. 00:20:45.82\00:20:46.85 It says, "We are told by Eusebius 00:20:46.88\00:20:48.74 who is a church historian, that Constantine, 00:20:48.77\00:20:51.36 in order to recommend the new religion." 00:20:51.39\00:20:53.79 That what religion? 00:20:53.82\00:20:55.44 And what new religion was he recommending to the heathen? 00:20:55.47\00:20:58.05 Christianity, right? 00:20:58.08\00:20:59.15 He was saying, "We all need to become Christians now. 00:20:59.18\00:21:01.46 And so in order to recommend the new religion to the heathen, 00:21:01.49\00:21:04.34 he transferred into it." 00:21:04.37\00:21:06.37 Into what? "Into Christianity. 00:21:06.40\00:21:09.01 All the outward ornaments, 00:21:09.04\00:21:11.49 to which they the pagans had been accustomed 00:21:11.52\00:21:13.88 in their own religion." 00:21:13.91\00:21:16.12 In other words, they lowered the standard of the truth 00:21:16.15\00:21:18.41 for the sake of more membership. 00:21:18.44\00:21:19.91 They said, "Let's just allow them to bring the word 00:21:19.94\00:21:23.13 and worldly practices within the church 00:21:23.16\00:21:25.41 so that they can be more comfortable." 00:21:25.44\00:21:27.17 You see, it doesn't really matter 00:21:27.20\00:21:28.33 as long as they are Christians, 00:21:28.36\00:21:29.61 as long as they take the name of Christ, it's all right. 00:21:29.64\00:21:31.82 They can live however they want to live, 00:21:31.85\00:21:34.55 as long as they profess faith in Christ as their master. 00:21:34.58\00:21:38.47 Friends, many churches are making the exact same mistake 00:21:38.50\00:21:41.55 and that's why many Christian churches today 00:21:41.58\00:21:43.67 they are worshiping the God in spirit, 00:21:43.70\00:21:45.01 but not in truth. 00:21:45.04\00:21:46.18 It is a counterfeit worship, friends. 00:21:46.21\00:21:48.17 They worship God, but in vain. 00:21:48.20\00:21:50.95 What were some of these outward ornaments 00:21:50.98\00:21:52.67 or symbols of paganism that entered into the church? 00:21:52.70\00:21:55.85 I want you to notice. 00:21:55.88\00:21:56.91 The primary ornament of paganism 00:21:56.94\00:21:59.77 are images of the Sun God. 00:21:59.80\00:22:01.72 Notice what it says in the history, 00:22:01.75\00:22:03.54 "Constantine's coins bore on the one side 00:22:03.57\00:22:05.66 the letters of the name of Christ 00:22:05.69\00:22:06.99 and on the other the figure of, who? 00:22:07.02\00:22:09.81 Of the Sun God as if he could not dare to relinquish 00:22:09.84\00:22:12.90 the patronage of the bright luminary." 00:22:12.93\00:22:15.35 You see, friends, the Sun God was the primary God in paganism 00:22:15.38\00:22:19.62 and pagan worship. 00:22:19.65\00:22:21.18 And so these were the ornaments, images of the Sun God 00:22:21.21\00:22:24.40 that were brought within the Christian church 00:22:24.43\00:22:27.00 to make the pagans have easier time 00:22:27.03\00:22:30.55 converting into Christianity. 00:22:30.58\00:22:32.87 And, friends, do we see images of the Sun God 00:22:32.90\00:22:35.19 in the churches of today still? Absolutely, yes. 00:22:35.22\00:22:37.97 Let me share with you a few examples of this. 00:22:38.00\00:22:39.80 And by the way, friends, in sharing these examples, 00:22:39.83\00:22:41.72 we're not standing in judgment on 00:22:41.75\00:22:43.08 anyone's personal relationship with God. 00:22:43.11\00:22:44.86 Can you say amen? 00:22:44.89\00:22:45.92 Because remember, God has His people 00:22:45.95\00:22:47.42 in every single church, 00:22:47.45\00:22:49.04 every single fold, every single denomination 00:22:49.07\00:22:51.95 that are living up to all the light they know 00:22:51.98\00:22:54.25 and because they are so sincere living up 00:22:54.28\00:22:55.67 to all the light they know 00:22:55.70\00:22:57.09 while they may not have all the light, 00:22:57.12\00:22:58.89 God recognizes them as His sheep as His people. 00:22:58.92\00:23:02.35 Can you say amen? 00:23:02.38\00:23:03.44 So we're not judging anyone's heart 00:23:03.47\00:23:04.82 but, friends, we can judge the fruits. 00:23:04.85\00:23:06.65 Can you say amen? 00:23:06.68\00:23:07.85 Jesus said, "You shall know then by their-- 00:23:07.88\00:23:10.39 We can't judge the root, the motives, 00:23:10.42\00:23:12.65 but we can look upon the fruit 00:23:12.68\00:23:13.79 to tell whether it's good or it's bad. 00:23:13.82\00:23:17.05 And so notice what happened. 00:23:17.08\00:23:18.23 Here's the fruit, brothers and sisters. 00:23:18.26\00:23:19.85 We still see images of the sun 00:23:19.88\00:23:21.94 boldly demonstrated in the churches today. 00:23:21.97\00:23:24.86 I want you to notice this statue of Saint Peter. 00:23:24.89\00:23:27.74 In Saint Peter's Basilica there in the Vatican City at Rome 00:23:27.77\00:23:31.17 and notice above his head is the sun disc. 00:23:31.20\00:23:34.17 It was the image of the Sun God that came from paganism. 00:23:34.20\00:23:37.92 And many people believe that this is a statue of Saint Peter. 00:23:37.95\00:23:41.18 The sun disc above the head shows 00:23:41.21\00:23:43.59 is a sign of its pagan origin. 00:23:43.62\00:23:45.62 And, friends, many sincere wonderful people 00:23:45.65\00:23:47.83 travel all around the world, 00:23:47.86\00:23:48.99 every single year and they visit 00:23:49.02\00:23:50.29 and they come to this statue 00:23:50.32\00:23:51.35 and they kiss the toes on this statue 00:23:51.38\00:23:54.37 so much so that the toes have actually been worn down. 00:23:54.40\00:23:58.48 And, friends, many people are sincere. 00:23:58.51\00:23:59.99 They think that they are doing the right thing 00:24:00.02\00:24:01.66 and they don't know that this is idolatry. 00:24:01.69\00:24:05.05 What people don't realize 00:24:05.08\00:24:06.91 is that this statue is not really Saint Peter. 00:24:06.94\00:24:09.55 In reality, it is the statue. 00:24:09.58\00:24:11.05 It's a copy of the famous pagan God Jupiter 00:24:11.08\00:24:15.43 that was brought into the church in the early centuries. 00:24:15.46\00:24:18.62 It was simply renamed Peter to help the pagans identity. 00:24:18.65\00:24:24.11 This is our pagan God Jupiter, but now it's Saint Peter. 00:24:24.14\00:24:27.06 So it made the transition from paganism into Christianity 00:24:27.09\00:24:30.71 more easy for the pagan. 00:24:30.74\00:24:32.40 And, friends, those who are kissing the toe, 00:24:32.43\00:24:33.93 they are not kissing the toe of Saint Peter, 00:24:33.96\00:24:35.90 but they are kissing the toe of a pagan God Jupiter 00:24:35.93\00:24:38.58 with the sun disc on his head. 00:24:38.61\00:24:40.55 And, friends, most statues are simply pagan gods 00:24:40.58\00:24:43.70 that are renamed to Christian saints. 00:24:43.73\00:24:45.92 Many other pictures 00:24:45.95\00:24:47.31 and statues review its pagan origins. 00:24:47.34\00:24:49.31 And I want you to notice, 00:24:49.34\00:24:50.40 what the primary focus in all of the artwork? 00:24:50.43\00:24:52.66 What is it-- What it emphasized? 00:24:52.69\00:24:54.26 It's the sun, friends. Do you see it? 00:24:54.29\00:24:56.07 Here's the picture of the nativity. 00:24:56.10\00:24:57.56 What is emphasized here? 00:24:57.59\00:24:58.89 It's the sun because that was the primary God 00:24:58.92\00:25:01.54 in pagan religions. 00:25:01.57\00:25:03.19 The sun disc is accentuated over and over and over again. 00:25:03.22\00:25:08.31 I took all of these pictures by the way when I was in Rome 00:25:08.34\00:25:10.58 and visiting the different churches 00:25:10.61\00:25:12.01 just last year. In fact, notice this. 00:25:12.04\00:25:13.66 The sun disc and in the center is the all Seeing Eye. 00:25:13.69\00:25:17.21 It's a symbol of paganism right there within the churches. 00:25:17.24\00:25:21.39 And if you notice this one. 00:25:21.42\00:25:23.24 Instead of Jesus being in the center, 00:25:23.27\00:25:25.59 what's in the center? 00:25:25.62\00:25:27.00 The sun disc and on the side is Jesus, 00:25:27.03\00:25:29.20 Mary and Joseph. 00:25:29.23\00:25:30.54 In fact, this was a picture of a statue 00:25:30.57\00:25:32.34 of what supposedly perhaps the Virgin Mary, 00:25:32.37\00:25:35.05 right there on the left side at the altar, 00:25:35.08\00:25:37.29 there in Saint Peters Basilica the headquarters in Rome. 00:25:37.32\00:25:40.20 And, friends, instead of holding baby Jesus 00:25:40.23\00:25:42.05 what is she holding? The sun disc. Why? 00:25:42.08\00:25:44.30 Because this was the foremost God in paganism. 00:25:44.33\00:25:47.94 So you see, friends, 00:25:47.97\00:25:49.13 the images in the artwork shows the union of paganism 00:25:49.16\00:25:53.09 and Christianity together. 00:25:53.12\00:25:55.05 And by the way, friends, do you know 00:25:55.08\00:25:56.42 where the largest sun disc in the world is? 00:25:56.45\00:25:59.03 It's right there in the Vatican City, 00:25:59.06\00:26:01.57 the largest sun dial in the world is right there. 00:26:01.60\00:26:03.70 And, friends, that pillar in the middle is an obelisk. 00:26:03.73\00:26:06.41 It's a symbol of the Egyptian Sun God Ra. 00:26:06.44\00:26:10.05 It was taken from Egypt 00:26:10.08\00:26:11.18 and bought to the headquarters there at Rome. 00:26:11.21\00:26:13.83 It was a symbol of paganism 00:26:13.86\00:26:15.78 and Christianity coming together. 00:26:15.81\00:26:17.55 And it was during this age of compromise, 00:26:17.58\00:26:19.72 the images of saints became intercessors 00:26:19.75\00:26:22.68 setting aside the role of the Holy Spirit. 00:26:22.71\00:26:24.93 It's now that the church began to worship idols 00:26:24.96\00:26:27.31 and crosses and pictures and saints and angels. 00:26:27.34\00:26:30.02 Well, how in the world can the church do this? 00:26:30.05\00:26:32.13 What about the second commandment? 00:26:32.16\00:26:33.86 That says, "Thou shall not make unto thee any graven image, 00:26:33.89\00:26:36.39 and thou shall not bow down 00:26:36.42\00:26:37.45 by self to then nor sure of them." 00:26:37.48\00:26:39.19 Well, friends, it was during this time of compromise 00:26:39.22\00:26:41.12 the black horse time period where the Bible tells us 00:26:41.15\00:26:43.30 that this power would think to change what? 00:26:43.33\00:26:47.12 Times and laws, changing God's holy law. 00:26:47.15\00:26:50.45 And, friends, if you read the Catechism, 00:26:50.48\00:26:52.28 the second commandment is completely gone, 00:26:52.31\00:26:54.04 it's deleted. 00:26:54.07\00:26:55.35 That's the only way they could rationalize 00:26:55.38\00:26:57.28 the bringing in of idols and praying to statues. 00:26:57.31\00:27:00.24 And in order to still have Ten Commandments 00:27:00.27\00:27:01.98 as I shared with you before. 00:27:02.01\00:27:03.73 They split the tenth commandment into two. 00:27:03.76\00:27:05.59 Commandment nine says, 00:27:05.62\00:27:06.74 "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife." 00:27:06.77\00:27:08.18 Commandment ten, 00:27:08.21\00:27:09.24 "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's goods." 00:27:09.27\00:27:11.03 Changing God's times and laws. 00:27:11.06\00:27:12.91 It was also during this time period 00:27:12.94\00:27:14.48 were compromised and the pagans day of the suns, 00:27:14.51\00:27:17.01 Sunday replaced the biblical Sabbath. 00:27:17.04\00:27:19.50 You see, the pagans worship on the first day of the week 00:27:19.53\00:27:22.28 and so to help them transition to Christianity they said, 00:27:22.31\00:27:24.99 okay, we're going to continue to worship 00:27:25.02\00:27:26.74 on the first day of the week, but now instead of worshipping 00:27:26.77\00:27:29.03 the Sun God on the first day of the week, 00:27:29.06\00:27:30.58 we will worship Jesus in honor of the resurrection. 00:27:30.61\00:27:33.39 Friends, Sunday worship comes from the paganism. 00:27:33.42\00:27:35.88 In fact, notice what history says, 00:27:35.91\00:27:38.30 "The retention of the old pagan name 00:27:38.33\00:27:39.97 of Dies Solis or Sunday 00:27:40.00\00:27:42.02 is in great measure, owing to the union of, what, 00:27:42.05\00:27:45.38 pagan and Christian sentiment 00:27:45.41\00:27:47.36 with which the first day of the week was recommended 00:27:47.39\00:27:49.72 by Constantine to his subjects, 00:27:49.75\00:27:52.44 pagan and Christian alike, 00:27:52.47\00:27:53.79 as the venerable day of the Sun." 00:27:53.82\00:27:55.16 Constantine recommended, 00:27:55.19\00:27:56.22 "Let's all worship on the first day of the week 00:27:56.25\00:27:58.10 so that we can all come together 00:27:58.13\00:27:59.37 and be unified in the same religion." 00:27:59.40\00:28:02.04 Now he recommended it at first, 00:28:02.07\00:28:04.37 but then in the year 321 AD. 00:28:04.40\00:28:07.23 Write it down, look it up for yourself. 00:28:07.26\00:28:08.91 Constantine passed the first Sunday law, 00:28:08.94\00:28:12.15 forcing people now we must worship 00:28:12.18\00:28:14.61 on the first day of the week. 00:28:14.64\00:28:16.88 And he did this, friends, 00:28:16.91\00:28:18.22 to unite the divided Roman Empire. 00:28:18.25\00:28:21.90 You see, compromise crept within the church. 00:28:21.93\00:28:25.13 Satan changed the strategy. 00:28:25.16\00:28:27.17 Instead of destroying them, he would corrupt them 00:28:27.20\00:28:29.79 and the black horse time period, the time of compromise 00:28:29.82\00:28:32.34 lasted for around 313 to 538 AD. 00:28:32.37\00:28:36.07 This was the time period 00:28:36.10\00:28:37.45 where corruption gradually settled 00:28:37.48\00:28:39.41 within the Christian church. 00:28:39.44\00:28:41.62 And, friends, as if things can't get any worse, 00:28:41.65\00:28:45.17 it actually gets worse. 00:28:45.20\00:28:46.70 Hold on to your seats, friends. 00:28:46.73\00:28:48.09 There's a fourth horse that comes upon the scene. 00:28:48.12\00:28:50.39 And now the color is pale which is the color of death. 00:28:50.42\00:28:54.04 Let's read about it. 00:28:54.07\00:28:55.10 Revelation 6:8, the Bible says, 00:28:55.13\00:28:58.46 "I looked, and behold a, what, pale horse 00:28:58.49\00:29:01.69 and his name that sat on him was Death, 00:29:01.72\00:29:04.48 and Hell followed with him. 00:29:04.51\00:29:06.17 And power was given unto them 00:29:06.20\00:29:07.65 over the fourth part of the earth, 00:29:07.68\00:29:08.99 to kill with sword, and with hunger, 00:29:09.02\00:29:10.53 and with death, and with the beasts of the earth." 00:29:10.56\00:29:13.12 Here we find the fourth rider 00:29:13.15\00:29:14.86 is a deadly rider on a pitiful pale horse. 00:29:14.89\00:29:18.27 And, friends, that color pale is the color of death and decay. 00:29:18.30\00:29:21.85 Isn't that right? 00:29:21.88\00:29:23.17 This pale horse represents the time 00:29:23.20\00:29:25.15 when the Christian faith was a dead 00:29:25.18\00:29:27.65 and a dying faith. 00:29:27.68\00:29:29.43 Notice how history describes the Dark Ages 00:29:29.46\00:29:31.89 and the church of that time. 00:29:31.92\00:29:33.25 History tells us, "That the new Christians were, 00:29:33.28\00:29:35.92 as far as thinking and habits went." 00:29:35.95\00:29:38.06 Who are the new Christians? 00:29:38.09\00:29:39.58 The pagan converts, those who converted to Christianity. 00:29:39.61\00:29:42.84 And it says that these new Christians 00:29:42.87\00:29:44.01 were as far as thinking. 00:29:44.04\00:29:45.20 In other words, their beliefs and habits. 00:29:45.23\00:29:47.55 In other words, their lifestyle. 00:29:47.58\00:29:49.45 They were the same old, what? They were pagans. 00:29:49.48\00:29:53.41 "Their surge into the churches did not wipe out paganism, 00:29:53.44\00:29:57.79 but on the contrary. 00:29:57.82\00:29:59.06 Hordes of baptized pagans meant that paganism had--" 00:29:59.09\00:30:02.82 What is that word? 00:30:02.85\00:30:04.32 "Diluted the moral energies of organized Christianity 00:30:04.35\00:30:07.67 to the point of, what? Impotence." 00:30:07.70\00:30:09.61 You see, friends, Christianity in the Dark Ages, 00:30:09.64\00:30:12.17 as pagans were brought into the churches 00:30:12.20\00:30:13.69 and just baptized without truly being converted, 00:30:13.72\00:30:16.30 it diluted and paralyzed the Christian faith. 00:30:16.33\00:30:19.93 They had a form of godliness, 00:30:19.96\00:30:22.17 they had the name of Christ on their lips, 00:30:22.20\00:30:24.35 but in their hearts, in their belief system, 00:30:24.38\00:30:26.39 in their lifestyle, they were still 00:30:26.42\00:30:27.99 the same old un-converted pagans 00:30:28.02\00:30:31.11 and to the point where Christianity was impotent. 00:30:31.14\00:30:33.23 And, friends, that word impotent means, 00:30:33.26\00:30:34.56 you can't reproduce. 00:30:34.59\00:30:35.62 And when you can't reproduce, you end up dying. 00:30:35.65\00:30:37.99 It's pale, friends. It's a sickly and dead fate. 00:30:38.02\00:30:41.63 In fact, notice another historical reference 00:30:41.66\00:30:43.15 describing the Dark Ages. 00:30:43.18\00:30:44.79 "Christianity became an established religion 00:30:44.82\00:30:46.65 in the Roman Empire." 00:30:46.68\00:30:47.71 Remember, from pagan Rome it became papal Rome. 00:30:47.74\00:30:51.30 It was the establish religion of the Roman Empire 00:30:51.33\00:30:53.69 and it took the place of paganism. 00:30:53.72\00:30:55.56 "Christianity as it existed in the Dark Ages 00:30:55.59\00:30:58.41 might be termed, what? 00:30:58.44\00:31:00.62 "Baptized Paganism." 00:31:00.65\00:31:02.23 That's all what it was, friends. 00:31:02.26\00:31:04.38 It was paganism with the Christian garment. 00:31:04.41\00:31:06.76 It was a wolf in sheep's clothing. 00:31:06.79\00:31:08.75 And the true church during this time period 00:31:08.78\00:31:10.87 were worshipping God underground, 00:31:10.90\00:31:12.71 they were hiding in the wilderness. 00:31:12.74\00:31:14.38 You see, friends, what the church did 00:31:14.41\00:31:15.82 is what many churches are doing today. 00:31:15.85\00:31:17.67 They were lowering the standards, 00:31:17.70\00:31:19.23 compromising the truth in order to get more converts 00:31:19.26\00:31:21.89 and they were simply baptizing people 00:31:21.92\00:31:24.23 that were not truly converted. 00:31:24.26\00:31:26.29 Friends, we should never baptize anyone 00:31:26.32\00:31:27.84 that has not experienced a conversion in their heart 00:31:27.87\00:31:30.84 because, friends, what is baptism? 00:31:30.87\00:31:32.22 It's just an outward expression of an inward experience. 00:31:32.25\00:31:35.96 The water does not change. 00:31:35.99\00:31:37.96 It's the spirit that changes first. 00:31:37.99\00:31:39.49 Can you say amen? 00:31:39.52\00:31:40.87 Many churches are making that same mistake today. 00:31:40.90\00:31:43.80 And, friends, listen whenever the church 00:31:43.83\00:31:46.00 lowers the standard to convert the world, 00:31:46.03\00:31:48.50 the world is never converted, 00:31:48.53\00:31:50.37 but rather it's the church that is converted to the world. 00:31:50.40\00:31:52.85 Did you catch that? 00:31:52.88\00:31:54.35 When the church compromises 00:31:54.38\00:31:55.74 and waters down the message of God 00:31:55.77\00:31:57.40 because it's unpopular, because it cuts across the grain 00:31:57.43\00:32:00.43 because it's a call of repentance and reformation. 00:32:00.46\00:32:03.42 Whenever a church does this, 00:32:03.45\00:32:05.50 the world is never converted to the church. 00:32:05.53\00:32:08.17 The church is always converted to the world 00:32:08.20\00:32:11.77 and it paralyses the church. 00:32:11.80\00:32:14.92 And, friends, the past is being repeated in Christianity today. 00:32:14.95\00:32:19.20 What happened back then was this. 00:32:19.23\00:32:21.05 The false religious system becomes head of the state 00:32:21.08\00:32:23.78 and now the church 00:32:23.81\00:32:24.95 uses the military arm of the state 00:32:24.98\00:32:27.17 to enforce its doctrines, 00:32:27.20\00:32:28.76 its dogmas and its decrees. 00:32:28.79\00:32:31.60 In other words, they are using the power of the state 00:32:31.63\00:32:33.33 to force the conscious of individuals. 00:32:33.36\00:32:36.59 And those who wanted to remain faithful to God 00:32:36.62\00:32:39.27 and the word of God, 00:32:39.30\00:32:40.42 they were hunted down like wild animals 00:32:40.45\00:32:43.62 and they were put to death, not by the hands of pagans, 00:32:43.65\00:32:46.65 but by the hands of those 00:32:46.68\00:32:47.87 who profess faith in Jesus Christ. 00:32:47.90\00:32:50.70 Friends, this was the counterfeit church. 00:32:50.73\00:32:52.85 And during this time period in the 1500s, 00:32:52.88\00:32:56.23 there was a secret brand of the church 00:32:56.26\00:32:58.11 that was created to destroy heretics. 00:32:58.14\00:33:00.24 It was called the Judgment Order. 00:33:00.27\00:33:02.14 It was founded by Ignatius Loyola 00:33:02.17\00:33:04.32 in the year 1540. 00:33:04.35\00:33:05.92 This is the secret society of the Catholic Church 00:33:05.95\00:33:08.37 and this branch of Catholicism, the Judgment Order 00:33:08.40\00:33:11.32 was invented for the strict purpose 00:33:11.35\00:33:13.52 of wiping out Protestantism, 00:33:13.55\00:33:15.68 wiping out what they called heresy 00:33:15.71\00:33:17.78 and to corrupt and to crush 00:33:17.81\00:33:20.09 those who wanted to remain faithful 00:33:20.12\00:33:21.92 to the teachings of God's word. 00:33:21.95\00:33:23.61 And, friends, today, the judgment priest 00:33:23.64\00:33:25.20 would deny these intentions. 00:33:25.23\00:33:26.66 But listen, friends, their own symbols do not lie 00:33:26.69\00:33:31.39 and it reveals the intentions. 00:33:31.42\00:33:32.95 In fact, I visited the headquarters 00:33:32.98\00:33:34.16 of the Jesuit Church 00:33:34.19\00:33:35.26 just last April there in Rome. 00:33:35.29\00:33:37.54 The church of Jesus, the Jesuit Church. 00:33:37.57\00:33:40.08 And, friends, in this church there's this statue. 00:33:40.11\00:33:41.92 I took this picture. 00:33:41.95\00:33:43.00 A statue of a woman with some type of whip 00:33:43.03\00:33:45.43 or something in her hand 00:33:45.46\00:33:46.57 and she's stamping upon two men. 00:33:46.60\00:33:49.41 And, friends, do you know who those two men are? 00:33:49.44\00:33:51.77 They are protestant reformers. 00:33:51.80\00:33:53.85 And the church denies that this is what it means. 00:33:53.88\00:33:56.47 But, friends, if you notice the statue carefully 00:33:56.50\00:33:58.82 there's this little angel which is more like a demon 00:33:58.85\00:34:01.00 that is ripping out pages of a book. 00:34:01.03\00:34:03.34 I would like to guess 00:34:03.37\00:34:04.44 whose names are on the binding of the book 00:34:04.47\00:34:06.52 right there in the statues. 00:34:06.55\00:34:08.22 The name of Martin Luther and the name of John Calvin 00:34:08.25\00:34:12.21 and the name of Ulrich Zwingli, 00:34:12.24\00:34:13.83 their own symbols do not lie, 00:34:13.86\00:34:16.60 even though today they will deny that this is their intentions. 00:34:16.63\00:34:19.47 And, friends, it's alarming 00:34:19.50\00:34:20.65 that the new pope is a Jesuit pope. 00:34:20.68\00:34:23.45 And we are going to talk about that on future night 00:34:23.48\00:34:25.23 but, friends, during this time period 00:34:25.26\00:34:26.66 the Jesuit order was set up to stamp out heresy. 00:34:26.69\00:34:30.19 This is what the church did during the Dark Ages. 00:34:30.22\00:34:32.48 And, friends, history tells us 00:34:32.51\00:34:34.38 that they died in cruel and torches ways. 00:34:34.41\00:34:37.10 They would rather be burnt alive 00:34:37.13\00:34:39.81 than disobey the word of God. 00:34:39.84\00:34:42.09 Friends, what excuse are we going to make? 00:34:42.12\00:34:43.77 Friends, think about the faith of the early Christian martyrs 00:34:43.80\00:34:46.18 who gave everything, friends. 00:34:46.21\00:34:48.65 They gave all and did it willingly and happily. 00:34:48.68\00:34:52.41 Why Because they have the blessed hope 00:34:52.44\00:34:55.25 of a resurrection. 00:34:55.28\00:34:56.74 They did not consider their life important. 00:34:56.77\00:34:59.13 They consider the truth of God 00:34:59.16\00:35:00.36 and the honor and glory of the God 00:35:00.39\00:35:01.89 above even their very own life. 00:35:01.92\00:35:03.91 That's what history tells us, friends. 00:35:03.94\00:35:05.51 Over 50 million Christians. 00:35:05.54\00:35:08.41 Oh, friends, we need to have the faith of the martyrs. 00:35:08.44\00:35:10.30 Can you say amen? Amen. 00:35:10.33\00:35:11.72 But, friends, many people say, 00:35:11.75\00:35:13.09 I'm ready to die for Jesus. 00:35:13.12\00:35:14.89 People sometimes say like Peter, 00:35:14.92\00:35:16.71 "Lord, I am ready to die for you." 00:35:16.74\00:35:18.20 They are not even living for Him. 00:35:18.23\00:35:19.54 Friends, before we can die for Him, 00:35:19.57\00:35:20.95 we must first start living for Him. 00:35:20.98\00:35:22.54 Can you say amen? 00:35:22.57\00:35:24.08 And so Lord, help us tonight. 00:35:24.11\00:35:25.38 Can you say amen? 00:35:25.41\00:35:26.45 You see, the pale horse time period. 00:35:26.48\00:35:27.67 The time when the Christian faith was a dead faith 00:35:27.70\00:35:30.24 lasted from 538 to about 1798. 00:35:30.27\00:35:33.27 This was during the time of the Dark Ages 00:35:33.30\00:35:35.21 where Satan sought to extinguish the light of the truth. 00:35:35.24\00:35:37.52 And, friends, it seem like the darkness 00:35:37.55\00:35:39.36 was stronger than the light. 00:35:39.39\00:35:40.78 It seem like error was overcoming the truth. 00:35:40.81\00:35:44.61 But here's the question. 00:35:44.64\00:35:46.01 Would God's truth be trampled upon forever? 00:35:46.04\00:35:50.07 Not at all, friends. 00:35:50.10\00:35:51.50 Truth is always stronger than error. 00:35:51.53\00:35:54.36 Light will always dispel the darkness 00:35:54.39\00:35:57.03 and God in His word has prophesied 00:35:57.06\00:35:59.05 that the light of His truth 00:35:59.08\00:36:00.41 would begin to penetrate the darkness of the Dark Ages. 00:36:00.44\00:36:04.04 And, friends, so far in this presentation, 00:36:04.07\00:36:06.25 we've just been talking about the bad news. 00:36:06.28\00:36:08.23 How many of you're now ready for the good news? 00:36:08.26\00:36:10.86 Are you ready? 00:36:10.89\00:36:12.23 We've seen how the church began at a high periods altered state, 00:36:12.26\00:36:16.35 from white in apostolic purity 00:36:16.38\00:36:18.91 then red in bloody persecution, 00:36:18.94\00:36:21.60 then black, darken as compromise settles in 00:36:21.63\00:36:24.25 and now pale, the color of death. 00:36:24.28\00:36:26.20 We've saw it how it went down, down, down, down, 00:36:26.23\00:36:29.61 but now we're going to trace it 00:36:29.64\00:36:30.67 how God begins to rise it 00:36:30.70\00:36:32.10 and exalt it higher and higher and higher. 00:36:32.13\00:36:34.87 Well, friends, if you are ready for the good news, 00:36:34.90\00:36:36.50 would you please say amen? Amen. 00:36:36.53\00:36:38.48 We traced it from its pure to its pale state, 00:36:38.51\00:36:40.88 now from Pale back to its pure state. 00:36:40.91\00:36:43.88 Friends, notice what the Bible tells us, 00:36:43.91\00:36:45.48 the light of truth would penetrate the darkness. 00:36:45.51\00:36:48.15 In Proverbs 4:18, the Bible says, 00:36:48.18\00:36:51.06 "But the path of the just." Stop right there. 00:36:51.09\00:36:53.44 What does that mean, just? 00:36:53.47\00:36:55.18 Bible says in Romans 1:17 that the just shall live by-- 00:36:55.21\00:36:59.31 So, friends, this is the path of faith. 00:36:59.34\00:37:01.28 Can you say amen? 00:37:01.31\00:37:02.34 Those who are seeking to walk by faith 00:37:02.37\00:37:04.39 and not by tradition and not by sight. 00:37:04.42\00:37:06.61 And notice this path of the just. 00:37:06.64\00:37:08.23 The path of faith is as the, what? 00:37:08.26\00:37:11.18 "Shining light." But what kind of light? 00:37:11.21\00:37:13.21 A light that shines how? 00:37:13.24\00:37:16.51 More and more unto end. 00:37:16.54\00:37:18.88 So the Bible tell us that the path of faith 00:37:18.91\00:37:21.31 that was almost destroyed in the Dark Ages 00:37:21.34\00:37:23.62 and replaced with darkness. 00:37:23.65\00:37:25.50 God says that this path of faith, 00:37:25.53\00:37:27.12 the path of the just 00:37:27.15\00:37:28.18 will began to shine more and more, 00:37:28.21\00:37:30.64 brighter and brighter until the perfect day. 00:37:30.67\00:37:33.23 In other words, God would restore the path of faith. 00:37:33.26\00:37:37.12 God will raise up different men and women 00:37:37.15\00:37:39.18 who'd stand up to defend the true pure faith of Jesus. 00:37:39.21\00:37:43.15 And by doing so, the light of God's word would be restored. 00:37:43.18\00:37:46.13 But, friends, how does God restore truth? 00:37:46.16\00:37:47.91 Not all at once, but He does it gradually. 00:37:47.94\00:37:51.20 He does it how? 00:37:51.23\00:37:52.74 In other words, more and more and brighter and brighter. 00:37:52.77\00:37:55.16 Notice what Jesus said in John 16:12-13. 00:37:55.19\00:37:58.09 Jesus said, "I have yet many things to say to you, 00:37:58.12\00:38:00.65 but you cannot bare them now." 00:38:00.68\00:38:02.79 Friends, I am so thankful that God 00:38:02.82\00:38:04.08 does never overwhelm us. 00:38:04.11\00:38:05.73 Can you say amen? Jesus said to disciples. 00:38:05.76\00:38:07.95 I have so mush to say to you, 00:38:07.98\00:38:09.41 but you can't handle it right now. 00:38:09.44\00:38:11.03 Therefore, I am not going to say it. 00:38:11.06\00:38:12.42 You see, brother and sisters, God knows what we can handle 00:38:12.45\00:38:15.17 and He promises in His word 00:38:15.20\00:38:16.60 to never give us more than what we can handle. 00:38:16.63\00:38:18.87 And, friends, I know that perhaps some of you were 00:38:18.90\00:38:20.57 hearing these messages for the first time, 00:38:20.60\00:38:22.09 you have been tempted to be overwhelm, 00:38:22.12\00:38:23.71 but the fact that God allowed you to hear it, 00:38:23.74\00:38:25.70 show that He has seen that now is your time 00:38:25.73\00:38:27.96 and that you can't handle it. 00:38:27.99\00:38:29.02 Can you say amen? 00:38:29.05\00:38:30.51 So God says, Jesus said, 00:38:30.54\00:38:31.57 "I have many things to say, but you can't handle it. 00:38:31.60\00:38:33.06 You can't bare it now. 00:38:33.09\00:38:34.19 "Howbeit when he, the spirit of truth, is come, 00:38:34.22\00:38:38.78 he will guide you into--" 00:38:38.81\00:38:42.01 Not some truth, not most truth, but into all truth. 00:38:42.04\00:38:46.66 And notice, He will guide us, 00:38:46.69\00:38:48.15 not force us, not rush us, but guide us step by step. 00:38:48.18\00:38:51.80 In other words, God does not reveal all truth at once 00:38:51.83\00:38:54.14 because if He did, it would be overwhelming. 00:38:54.17\00:38:56.51 Just like when you're in a dark room 00:38:56.54\00:38:58.29 and you fall asleep 00:38:58.32\00:38:59.35 and when your eyes are accustom to darkness 00:38:59.38\00:39:01.28 and someone comes in 00:39:01.31\00:39:02.34 and turns on the light 00:39:02.37\00:39:03.60 how do you feel? How do you respond? 00:39:03.63\00:39:05.10 When all the light shines all at once? 00:39:05.13\00:39:07.27 You start to shout, right? You start to resist. 00:39:07.30\00:39:09.95 It becomes blinding, it become overwhelming. 00:39:09.98\00:39:12.42 And so God would not restore everything all at once 00:39:12.45\00:39:15.17 because people would turn away, 00:39:15.20\00:39:16.60 but rather he would send the Holy Spirit 00:39:16.63\00:39:19.03 and raising up different men and women 00:39:19.06\00:39:20.86 to contend, defend and earnestly 00:39:20.89\00:39:23.95 stand up for the true faith, 00:39:23.98\00:39:25.55 but not everything at once just a little portion at a time. 00:39:25.58\00:39:29.81 Thus, giving our eyes, our spiritual eyes 00:39:29.84\00:39:32.41 time to adjust to seeing the light. 00:39:32.44\00:39:36.74 Can you say amen? 00:39:36.77\00:39:38.47 And it would shine more and more, 00:39:38.50\00:39:40.57 brighter and brighter, clearer and clearer 00:39:40.60\00:39:43.46 onto the perfect day 00:39:43.49\00:39:44.82 and that day is the time of perfect clarity. 00:39:44.85\00:39:47.09 It's the day when God's church 00:39:47.12\00:39:48.61 is truly going to experience the reality of this promise 00:39:48.64\00:39:51.20 where the Holy Spirit would lead them into 00:39:51.23\00:39:53.52 all of the truth. 00:39:53.55\00:39:55.70 Well, friends, will this time ever happen? 00:39:55.73\00:39:57.80 Revelation tells us yes. 00:39:57.83\00:39:59.56 In Revelation 14:12, 00:39:59.59\00:40:00.78 it talks about God's end time remnant people. 00:40:00.81\00:40:03.27 His final generation those who lived at the end of time. 00:40:03.30\00:40:06.11 And it says, "Here is the patience 00:40:06.14\00:40:08.03 or endurance of the saints 00:40:08.06\00:40:09.86 here are those who keep the commandments of God 00:40:09.89\00:40:12.17 and the faith, what." 00:40:12.20\00:40:14.80 Notice, it doesn't says faith in Jesus. 00:40:14.83\00:40:16.77 Friends, that's obvious. 00:40:16.80\00:40:17.83 They do have faith in Jesus. 00:40:17.86\00:40:19.27 But more than just faith in Jesus, 00:40:19.30\00:40:20.93 they have the faith, what. 00:40:20.96\00:40:22.54 Of Jesus, you see, friends, 00:40:22.57\00:40:23.91 the same faith Jesus had, 00:40:23.94\00:40:25.83 God's end time people are gonna have as well. 00:40:25.86\00:40:27.89 And tell me, friends, is the faith of Jesus complete 00:40:27.92\00:40:30.60 or is it incomplete. 00:40:30.63\00:40:32.29 It's a complete pure faith. 00:40:32.32\00:40:34.08 The Bible is telling us that God's end time 00:40:34.11\00:40:36.18 people is going to have a perfect complete 00:40:36.21\00:40:38.82 and a pure faith, 00:40:38.85\00:40:40.20 the faith not just in Jesus, 00:40:40.23\00:40:42.26 but the faith that Jesus had. 00:40:42.29\00:40:44.13 In other words, they're going to believe 00:40:44.16\00:40:45.53 exactly what Jesus thought. 00:40:45.56\00:40:47.66 Can you say amen? 00:40:47.69\00:40:48.98 And so how was the faith of Jesus fully restored? 00:40:49.01\00:40:51.55 Friends, allow me to share with you the history 00:40:51.58\00:40:53.89 of how God began to restore all truth 00:40:53.92\00:40:56.43 from the darkness of the Dark Ages. 00:40:56.46\00:40:57.84 Friends, are you ready for this. 00:40:57.87\00:41:00.40 History tells us, that quietly and secretly at first. 00:41:00.43\00:41:04.32 People during the Dark Ages began to read the Bible. 00:41:04.35\00:41:07.56 And one of the most prevalent groups 00:41:07.59\00:41:08.78 was the Bible believe in Waldenses. 00:41:08.81\00:41:11.33 These were group of individuals 00:41:11.36\00:41:13.43 that hail to the ancient faith of God's word. 00:41:13.46\00:41:16.38 They lived in the mountainous villages 00:41:16.41\00:41:18.15 of northern Italy and southern France 00:41:18.18\00:41:20.34 because this mountainous region 00:41:20.37\00:41:22.03 provided refuge from papal persecutions. 00:41:22.06\00:41:25.54 At the sound at the approach of people armies, 00:41:25.57\00:41:28.02 the Bible believe in Waldenses would run to the caves 00:41:28.05\00:41:31.22 where they were able to find refuge 00:41:31.25\00:41:32.91 and protection from papal persecution. 00:41:32.94\00:41:35.57 And, friends, I got the chance to visit 00:41:35.60\00:41:36.83 these caves just last year. I went to this cave. 00:41:36.86\00:41:38.67 Here is the opening of one of the caves. 00:41:38.70\00:41:40.53 And in this cave, the Waldenses would worship God. 00:41:40.56\00:41:43.98 Friends, you have to get on your hands 00:41:44.01\00:41:45.24 and knees in order to getting into it. 00:41:45.27\00:41:46.54 But once you're in there, 00:41:46.57\00:41:47.65 it was a large opening, a cavern. 00:41:47.68\00:41:49.44 And, friends, it looks like a church, doesn't it? 00:41:49.47\00:41:51.61 The sidewalls are slanted, it goes to the top, 00:41:51.64\00:41:53.64 there is light shining from the top 00:41:53.67\00:41:55.22 and there's a large flat area in the bottom. 00:41:55.25\00:41:58.52 And just above it behind it 00:41:58.55\00:42:00.49 is a platform, an elevated platform 00:42:00.52\00:42:03.86 where the preacher would preach from. 00:42:03.89\00:42:05.79 And we went into these caves. 00:42:05.82\00:42:07.57 And in those caves, we began to sing the songs-- 00:42:07.60\00:42:09.51 Look at me, I'm just standing. I'm just loving. 00:42:09.54\00:42:11.67 It was the surreal experience. 00:42:11.70\00:42:13.66 These were the places that those 00:42:13.69\00:42:16.28 who kept to the ancient faith worshipped 00:42:16.31\00:42:18.98 God even in a time of gross darkness. 00:42:19.01\00:42:23.54 And, friends, some history also tells us 00:42:23.57\00:42:27.73 that sometimes they would go to these caves 00:42:27.76\00:42:29.72 and at one point there is a vast paper army 00:42:29.75\00:42:32.50 that actually created a big fire at the mouth of the cave 00:42:32.53\00:42:35.84 and calls the fire to go in the cave 00:42:35.87\00:42:37.25 and cured thousands of Bible believe in Waldenses, 00:42:37.28\00:42:40.55 women and children alike. 00:42:40.58\00:42:43.17 And, friends, you can imagine visiting places 00:42:43.20\00:42:44.72 like this how surreal it was. 00:42:44.75\00:42:46.55 You see, right now we're living in a time 00:42:46.58\00:42:47.70 of religious freedom but, friends, 00:42:47.73\00:42:49.50 this freedom was a stranger to many people in the past. 00:42:49.53\00:42:52.93 That's the reason why we're to be thankful 00:42:52.96\00:42:54.86 for the freedom we have to worship God 00:42:54.89\00:42:56.38 according to the dictates of our own conscience. 00:42:56.41\00:42:58.28 Can you say amen? 00:42:58.31\00:42:59.34 And, friends, it was in these mountainous regions 00:42:59.37\00:43:01.50 that the Waldenses had a Bible college, 00:43:01.53\00:43:04.24 a training school. 00:43:04.27\00:43:05.30 This was the place that they had the training school. 00:43:05.33\00:43:07.23 It was called the School of the Uncles. 00:43:07.26\00:43:08.63 You see, they used to call each other uncle and aunty. 00:43:08.66\00:43:10.95 And, friends, I like that. 00:43:10.98\00:43:12.01 How about you? 00:43:12.04\00:43:13.68 The School of Uncles, the School of the Barbs. 00:43:13.71\00:43:15.93 And it was in this place, 00:43:15.96\00:43:17.29 in the mountains on these rock tables. 00:43:17.32\00:43:20.11 In those days were tables, 00:43:20.14\00:43:21.70 that the Waldenses would hand copy the Bible for months. 00:43:21.73\00:43:25.03 And they would sow portions of the scriptures 00:43:25.06\00:43:27.83 into their garments 00:43:27.86\00:43:29.86 and they were light bearers and soul winners 00:43:29.89\00:43:31.79 and then they would go into the cities, 00:43:31.82\00:43:33.52 and the universities, 00:43:33.55\00:43:34.81 and then whenever they found someone 00:43:34.84\00:43:36.31 that was interested in spiritual things, 00:43:36.34\00:43:37.88 they would slip a portion of scripture to them. 00:43:37.91\00:43:40.38 Friends, if they were caught, 00:43:40.41\00:43:41.70 they would be burnt alive. 00:43:41.73\00:43:43.79 But, friends, they risked their lives 00:43:43.82\00:43:45.76 to share the gospel of truth with their neighbors. 00:43:45.79\00:43:48.93 And some of us are afraid to witness 00:43:48.96\00:43:50.86 to our family and friends. 00:43:50.89\00:43:52.33 They risked their lives, friends. 00:43:52.36\00:43:53.84 They saw portions of scripture in their clothing. 00:43:53.87\00:43:56.34 In fact, I went to the Waldensian Museum 00:43:56.37\00:43:58.62 and I took this picture. Do you know what that is? 00:43:58.65\00:44:00.05 That's a ring, friends. 00:44:00.08\00:44:01.76 That's a ring and on the top of the ring 00:44:01.79\00:44:03.61 was a little compartment 00:44:03.64\00:44:04.67 and in that compartment 00:44:04.70\00:44:05.94 was a small piece of paper, 00:44:05.97\00:44:07.70 a portion of the scriptures. 00:44:07.73\00:44:10.08 For that you can't even read it with the naked eye. 00:44:10.11\00:44:12.05 You have to have a magnifying glass to read it. 00:44:12.08\00:44:13.90 But this is the great lens they went to preserve 00:44:13.93\00:44:16.90 the teachings of God's word and to share with others. 00:44:16.93\00:44:21.23 And soon as they began to share the light of truth, 00:44:21.26\00:44:23.76 began to grow and glow all over Europe. 00:44:23.79\00:44:27.34 And so the path is beginning to be restored. 00:44:27.37\00:44:29.70 God used the Bible believers Waldensian 00:44:29.73\00:44:32.15 amongst others to restore the long forgotten truth 00:44:32.18\00:44:34.92 that the Bible alone is the sole rule of authority. 00:44:34.95\00:44:38.87 But, friends, listen the Waldensian 00:44:38.90\00:44:40.51 didn't have all the truth. 00:44:40.54\00:44:42.41 God used John Huss to begin the revival 00:44:42.44\00:44:45.50 throughout the Slovakian region 00:44:45.53\00:44:47.12 and he used him and the Hussites 00:44:47.15\00:44:49.27 to restore the long forgotten truth 00:44:49.30\00:44:51.21 that we ought to obey God rather than man. 00:44:51.24\00:44:54.41 But, friends, listen John Huss didn't have all the truth. 00:44:54.44\00:44:57.14 God used him just to restore that part 00:44:57.17\00:44:58.78 but, friends, there was lot that he did not understand, 00:44:58.81\00:45:01.04 so God has to raise up another reformer 00:45:01.07\00:45:03.38 to contend for the faith. 00:45:03.41\00:45:04.60 Now Martin Luther and God used Martin Luther 00:45:04.63\00:45:08.39 to begin the Lutheran Movement. 00:45:08.42\00:45:10.36 And it was the Lutheran Movement 00:45:10.39\00:45:11.42 that restored the long forgotten truth 00:45:11.45\00:45:13.30 that we are saved by grace and grace alone 00:45:13.33\00:45:16.35 and that part of the path was restored 00:45:16.38\00:45:18.23 and the light began to shine a little more, 00:45:18.26\00:45:20.36 but Luther didn't have all the truth. 00:45:20.39\00:45:21.97 There were still many things that he didn't understand, 00:45:22.00\00:45:24.00 so God rose of another reformer to contend for the faith. 00:45:24.03\00:45:26.35 Now John Calvin and all of Calvin's teachings was born 00:45:26.38\00:45:29.95 the Presbyterian Movement. 00:45:29.98\00:45:31.58 And his major emphasis 00:45:31.61\00:45:33.22 was the importance of Christian growth, 00:45:33.25\00:45:35.83 that we need to grow up in the likeness of Christ 00:45:35.86\00:45:38.08 that day by day we ought to be growing up 00:45:38.11\00:45:40.25 and maturing in our walk with the Lord. 00:45:40.28\00:45:41.77 And so God used Calvin and the Presbyterian Church 00:45:41.80\00:45:44.86 to restore that long forgotten truth. 00:45:44.89\00:45:46.54 But, friends, it was the lot that Calvin did not understand. 00:45:46.57\00:45:48.70 He didn't have all the truth. 00:45:48.73\00:45:49.81 So God had to raise up another reformer 00:45:49.84\00:45:51.81 to contend for the faith. 00:45:51.84\00:45:53.07 Now he rose up the Anabaptist Movement. 00:45:53.10\00:45:56.06 Individual like, John Smith 00:45:56.09\00:45:57.19 and Michael Sattler amongst others 00:45:57.22\00:45:59.33 and out of their teachings, 00:45:59.36\00:46:00.52 the Baptist Church and movement was born. 00:46:00.55\00:46:03.44 And God used the Anabaptist 00:46:03.47\00:46:05.09 and the Baptist Movement to restore the long forgotten 00:46:05.12\00:46:07.42 truth of baptism by immersion. 00:46:07.45\00:46:09.43 But, friends, there were still many things 00:46:09.46\00:46:10.49 that they didn't understand 00:46:10.52\00:46:11.55 so God had to raise up somebody else. 00:46:11.58\00:46:13.25 Do you see, friends, God was giving 00:46:13.28\00:46:14.94 each different movement of peace of the puzzled of truth? 00:46:14.97\00:46:18.47 Not everything to one person, but scattered out. Why? 00:46:18.50\00:46:22.29 So that our eyes might be able to adjust 00:46:22.32\00:46:24.46 to seeing the light. 00:46:24.49\00:46:26.45 And then the torch of truth was passed 00:46:26.48\00:46:28.00 to two brothers in England. 00:46:28.03\00:46:29.38 John and Charles Wesley, 00:46:29.41\00:46:31.04 who gave a message of holiness to arouse 00:46:31.07\00:46:33.81 the world loving churches of their day and age. 00:46:33.84\00:46:35.90 They thought that we ought to live holy lives, 00:46:35.93\00:46:38.12 they give a message of holiness and out of their teachings, 00:46:38.15\00:46:40.72 the Methodist Church was born 00:46:40.75\00:46:42.32 and amongst other charismatic churches 00:46:42.35\00:46:44.09 and God used this movement 00:46:44.12\00:46:45.61 to restore the long forgotten truth of holiness. 00:46:45.64\00:46:48.17 But, friends, they didn't have all the truth. 00:46:48.20\00:46:50.19 There were still lot of other things 00:46:50.22\00:46:51.34 that they was yet to be discovered 00:46:51.37\00:46:53.68 and to what we are seeing, friends, 00:46:53.71\00:46:54.74 is that God is restoring old forgotten truths 00:46:54.77\00:46:57.38 and before Jesus would come all truth would be restored. 00:46:57.41\00:47:00.77 Can you say amen? 00:47:00.80\00:47:02.03 And so now let's get to the punch line. 00:47:02.06\00:47:04.10 Why there are so many different denominations 00:47:04.13\00:47:06.29 as we've looked at history, the answer is clear. 00:47:06.32\00:47:08.70 The reason why there is so many different denominations 00:47:08.73\00:47:10.95 and so many different movements 00:47:10.98\00:47:12.18 is because people don't really want all the truth. 00:47:12.21\00:47:16.11 They're satisfied with just a portion of the truth. 00:47:16.14\00:47:18.43 But they don't allow Jesus 00:47:18.46\00:47:20.22 and the spirit to leave them into all truth. 00:47:20.25\00:47:22.07 What do I mean by that? Let me explain. 00:47:22.10\00:47:23.75 God raised up individual with a specific point of truth 00:47:23.78\00:47:26.19 to restore, but not everything. 00:47:26.22\00:47:28.28 People would heal the message, 00:47:28.31\00:47:29.62 they would believe in that truth, 00:47:29.65\00:47:30.90 a movement which start, a denomination would be born, 00:47:30.93\00:47:33.95 but the people the members 00:47:33.98\00:47:35.60 would only go as far as the leader went. 00:47:35.63\00:47:37.65 And so if the Luther didn't teach it, 00:47:37.68\00:47:39.36 we are not going to accept it because we are Lutherans. 00:47:39.39\00:47:42.31 And so God had to bypass that movement 00:47:42.34\00:47:44.35 and raise up somebody else with another truth to restore. 00:47:44.38\00:47:47.27 People would hear it, they would accept it, 00:47:47.30\00:47:49.20 they would follow the teaching, 00:47:49.23\00:47:50.39 a church denomination will be born, 00:47:50.42\00:47:52.11 but the people would only go as far as the leaders went. 00:47:52.14\00:47:54.39 And so if Calvin didn't teach it, 00:47:54.42\00:47:55.88 we're not going to accept it because we are Presbyterians. 00:47:55.91\00:47:58.72 And they got stuck in a rut. But then there was more. 00:47:58.75\00:48:01.27 God has to raise up somebody else 00:48:01.30\00:48:02.45 with another point of truth and they would teach it, 00:48:02.48\00:48:04.35 people accept the doctrine, 00:48:04.38\00:48:06.67 a church denomination will be born. 00:48:06.70\00:48:08.43 But again the followers will only go 00:48:08.46\00:48:10.13 as far as the leader went. 00:48:10.16\00:48:11.34 And so Wesley didn't teach it, we are not going to accept it 00:48:11.37\00:48:14.12 because we are Methodist and we remain Methodist. 00:48:14.15\00:48:17.49 But, friends, if John Wesley would've heard that truth, 00:48:17.52\00:48:19.86 he would have moved forward. 00:48:19.89\00:48:20.92 Can you say amen? 00:48:20.95\00:48:21.98 If Luther would have heard more truth, 00:48:22.01\00:48:23.28 he would have moved forward. 00:48:23.31\00:48:24.48 You see, the message is, don't get stuck in a rut. 00:48:24.51\00:48:27.71 This cycle repeated over and over and over again 00:48:27.74\00:48:31.52 and that's reason why there is 00:48:31.55\00:48:32.74 so many different denominations in the world. 00:48:32.77\00:48:36.03 You see, our loyalty must be to Christ 00:48:36.06\00:48:39.62 and the word never to a man, a pastor or a denomination. 00:48:39.65\00:48:43.83 Can you say amen? Amen. 00:48:43.86\00:48:45.12 In fact, I want to read you from John Robertson 00:48:45.15\00:48:47.52 who was the pastor of the Pilgrim Fathers. 00:48:47.55\00:48:50.26 Those who fled Europe to come to the Americas 00:48:50.29\00:48:52.77 to find religious freedom. 00:48:52.80\00:48:54.71 John Robinson gave them a message 00:48:54.74\00:48:56.95 just before they left to go to Europe. 00:48:56.98\00:48:58.46 And I want you to notice what he said, 00:48:58.49\00:48:59.89 it's advised that we need to take today in America 00:48:59.92\00:49:02.53 in all of the world, in fact. 00:49:02.56\00:49:03.93 He said listen, "I charged you before God 00:49:03.96\00:49:06.59 and his blessed angels. 00:49:06.62\00:49:07.84 Follow me, the pastor says, 00:49:07.87\00:49:09.55 follows me no further than I follow Christ." 00:49:09.58\00:49:14.10 Can you say amen? 00:49:14.13\00:49:15.57 "And if God shall reveal anything to you 00:49:15.60\00:49:17.83 by another instrument of his, 00:49:17.86\00:49:20.63 be ready to receive it as ever you would 00:49:20.66\00:49:22.77 have received it any truth by ministry. 00:49:22.80\00:49:25.78 For I am confident that the Lord has more truth 00:49:25.81\00:49:27.78 and light to break forth from his holy word. 00:49:27.81\00:49:30.28 And I be aware of the state and condition 00:49:30.31\00:49:32.00 of the reform churches 00:49:32.03\00:49:33.25 who have come to a full stop in religion. 00:49:33.28\00:49:36.61 They will go no further 00:49:36.64\00:49:38.37 than the instrument of their reformation. 00:49:38.40\00:49:40.67 The Lutherans cannot be drawn 00:49:40.70\00:49:41.98 beyond what Luther saw. 00:49:42.01\00:49:43.41 The Calvinists, they stick to where Calvin left them. 00:49:43.44\00:49:46.30 This is a misery much to be lamenting. 00:49:46.33\00:49:48.93 For those they were shining light in their times. 00:49:48.96\00:49:51.52 Yet God did not reveal his whole will unto them. 00:49:51.55\00:49:54.44 And if they were alive today, 00:49:54.47\00:49:55.99 they would be as ready and willing to embrace 00:49:56.02\00:49:58.04 further light as they had received, 00:49:58.07\00:50:00.07 but take heed when you receive for truth. 00:50:00.10\00:50:02.91 Examine it well and compare it 00:50:02.94\00:50:05.22 and weigh it with others scriptures of truth 00:50:05.25\00:50:07.89 before you receive it." 00:50:07.92\00:50:09.29 Can you say amen? Amen. 00:50:09.32\00:50:10.57 But, friends, when the Pilgrim Fathers came to world, 00:50:10.60\00:50:13.33 they didn't keep to that advice. 00:50:13.36\00:50:15.42 They got stuck in a rut. 00:50:15.45\00:50:16.93 And that's why there are so many denominations 00:50:16.96\00:50:19.28 in our world today. 00:50:19.31\00:50:20.82 You see, God wants to lead us into walk of truth. 00:50:20.85\00:50:22.80 Can you say amen? 00:50:22.83\00:50:24.25 And then early in 1800s, 00:50:24.28\00:50:25.52 God rose up another reformer here in America, 00:50:25.55\00:50:27.45 his name William Miller 00:50:27.48\00:50:29.60 and he began to study Bible prophecy. 00:50:29.63\00:50:31.54 He was a Baptist preacher at first. 00:50:31.57\00:50:33.14 He began to study prophecy and in prophecy 00:50:33.17\00:50:35.59 he found the long forgotten truth 00:50:35.62\00:50:37.36 of the eminent return of Jesus Christ 00:50:37.39\00:50:40.03 in the clouds of heaven. 00:50:40.06\00:50:41.26 And at the same time another man in South America 00:50:41.29\00:50:43.97 by the name of Emmanuel Lacunza. 00:50:44.00\00:50:46.43 Joe Yohan Bengo in Germany, Edward Irving in Scotland 00:50:46.46\00:50:50.03 and out of their teachings 00:50:50.06\00:50:51.45 the Adventist Movement was born. 00:50:51.48\00:50:53.79 And, friends, the Adventist Movement 00:50:53.82\00:50:55.21 was not the church with denomination. 00:50:55.24\00:50:57.21 It was simply a group of people from many different churches. 00:50:57.24\00:50:59.84 Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterians and Catholics 00:50:59.87\00:51:02.12 they believe that Jesus was coming soon. 00:51:02.15\00:51:04.31 Because, friends, do you know what Adventist is, 00:51:04.34\00:51:06.40 it's those who are waiting for the second coming of Christ. 00:51:06.43\00:51:08.90 How many of you are waiting for the second coming of Christ. 00:51:08.93\00:51:10.71 If so, let me hear you say amen. Amen. 00:51:10.74\00:51:12.39 Well, friends, that makes you an Adventist. 00:51:12.42\00:51:14.21 No matter what church you go to. 00:51:14.24\00:51:16.15 And so, friends, many who ask me, 00:51:16.18\00:51:17.99 "Who are you? What faith do you claim? 00:51:18.02\00:51:21.37 Who do you represent? What's your doctrine? 00:51:21.40\00:51:23.61 What do you believe? Who are you?" 00:51:23.64\00:51:25.05 Well, friends, let me just tell you right now 00:51:25.08\00:51:26.33 very clearly who I am. 00:51:26.36\00:51:27.49 I'm happy to tell you tonight that I'm Waldensian 00:51:27.52\00:51:31.01 because like they why people believe in Waldensians, 00:51:31.04\00:51:32.88 I believe that the Bible alone should be the sole of authority. 00:51:32.91\00:51:35.75 Do you believe that? 00:51:35.78\00:51:37.03 Well, friends, that makes you Waldensians tonight, 00:51:37.06\00:51:38.96 but more than a Waldensian. 00:51:38.99\00:51:40.02 I'm happy to tell you that I'm also Hussite 00:51:40.05\00:51:42.40 because like John Huss, 00:51:42.43\00:51:43.46 I believe that I also obey God rather than man. 00:51:43.49\00:51:46.03 Do you believe that? 00:51:46.06\00:51:47.09 Oh, friends, that makes you a Hussite 00:51:47.12\00:51:48.15 but, friends, I'm not just a Hussite. 00:51:48.18\00:51:49.28 I'm also a Lutheran. 00:51:49.31\00:51:50.39 I belong to the Lutheran Movement tonight. 00:51:50.42\00:51:52.55 Because, like more Lutheran, 00:51:52.58\00:51:53.61 I believe that the only way I'm going to be saved 00:51:53.64\00:51:55.74 is by faith in the grace of God. 00:51:55.77\00:51:57.66 If you believe that, you say amen. 00:51:57.69\00:51:59.23 Well, friends, that makes you Lutheran. 00:51:59.26\00:52:00.33 But, friends, listen don't stop there, 00:52:00.36\00:52:02.24 there is more to it than being a Lutheran. 00:52:02.27\00:52:04.14 I'm happy to tell you tonight that I'm also a Presbyterian. 00:52:04.17\00:52:06.44 So as John Calvin I believe that 00:52:06.47\00:52:09.07 as Christians we ought to growth 00:52:09.10\00:52:10.39 and mature day by day into the likeness of Christ, 00:52:10.42\00:52:12.91 that's what Calvin thought. 00:52:12.94\00:52:14.21 That's what the Presbyterians believe. 00:52:14.24\00:52:15.78 And so if you believe, then you say amen. 00:52:15.81\00:52:18.34 Well, that makes you a Presbyterian. 00:52:18.37\00:52:19.40 But, friends, there is more to it 00:52:19.43\00:52:20.46 than just being a Presbyterian. 00:52:20.49\00:52:21.52 If you're just the Presbyterian, it's not enough. 00:52:21.55\00:52:23.92 I am happy to tell you tonight that I'm also a Baptist. 00:52:23.95\00:52:27.10 I belong to the Baptist Movement 00:52:27.13\00:52:28.67 because like the Anabaptist, 00:52:28.70\00:52:29.73 I believe that Baptist by immersion 00:52:29.76\00:52:31.73 is what the Bible teaches, not by sprinkling. 00:52:31.76\00:52:33.82 If you believe that, you say amen. 00:52:33.85\00:52:35.52 Well, that makes you Baptist. 00:52:35.55\00:52:36.66 But, friends, there's lot more to it then. 00:52:36.69\00:52:37.80 Just don't stop there. 00:52:37.83\00:52:39.69 If you stop there, you'll fall in short of the mark. 00:52:39.72\00:52:42.18 I'm not just a Baptist.
