begin with a scripture

that to me is one of the
most important components

of sanctification.

The Bible says to

Since this is
our first scripture,

What does the Bible say?

It is not possible...

We've talked about
this from night to night.

It is not possible to be
in a sanctifying relationship

with God when the Word
of God or the truth of God

is excluded or ignored.

It's not possible.

say, "I'm following God,

And tonight's topic
is one of those topics

that for whatever
reason has been attacked

by the enemy of God, and our
enemy, for thousands of years.

And the last
component of what God blessed
00:08:21.00\00:08:23.67
in the Garden of Eden has
recently come under attack
00:08:23.70\00:08:27.04
by the enemy.
00:08:27.07\00:08:28.40
In the Garden of Eden
God blessed two institutions.
00:08:28.44\00:08:31.01
He blessed the
family and the Sabbath.
00:08:31.04\00:08:33.64
He blessed what?
00:08:33.68\00:08:35.01
The family and the Sabbath.
00:08:35.04\00:08:36.68
Each of those
pillars were created
00:08:36.71\00:08:39.91
in a perfect environment.
00:08:39.95\00:08:41.65
Which means, if the
world never fell into sin
00:08:41.68\00:08:45.69
there would never
be a discussion about
00:08:46.25\00:08:48.36
replacing either one of those.

But because the
world has fallen into sin,

the devil's aim is to
attack the very foundation

of the things that God
blessed in the Garden of Eden.

God blessed the marriage,
00:09:03.24\00:09:05.61
which is a
horizontal sanctification
00:09:05.64\00:09:08.38
between my wife and me.

Horizontal, side to side.

Then also God
blessed the Sabbath.

A vertical relationship.

The devil has attacked
both of those institutions.

But when you look at
the Bible, you'll discover

that one of the most
important things that God did

before He blessed the Sabbath
is He blessed the family.
00:09:26.33\00:09:29.40
He performed the first wedding.
00:09:29.43\00:09:31.13
Tomorrow morning we're

only be as strong as the family.

of those institutions.

God always wins in the end.

Look at what God did
after He blessed the family.

We find in Genesis 2:1-3...

Notice the
components that have God's seal.

That's why when
we look at the Bible,

we find that when we
talk about sanctification,

whenever the commandment
of the Sabbath is mentioned,

it includes the
components of creation.

I want you to notice that.

When the Sabbath is mentioned,

So who is Lord?

Sabbath is our Lord,

to try to pick a day.

Now May 22nd may not
mean anything to any of you,

but when May 22nd comes around,

It may mean nothing to you.

And the reason it may
not mean anything to you

is because you are
not in our relationship,

but because that day is
based on our relationship.

The greatest component
and the greatest reason for

honoring the Bible
Sabbath is, one, it is a sign

of our relationship.

The day is special to us
because God sanctified us.

Our relationship is
holy, therefore when May 22nd

comes around, I say,
"Happy anniversary," to my wife,

and she says,
"Happy anniversary," to me.

But it may mean nothing to you.

Any time you're
not in a relationship,

the day probably has
no significance to you.

When God blessed
something, He never changes it.

Notice what the Bible
says in Ecclesiastes 3:14.

But the bewildering question is,

why would there need to
be a change of the Sabbath

when it's really the
last day of the week?

even need to be a change

from something that
was done when there was no

sin in the world?

Now maybe about a few
years ago the Christian church

started getting
upset about what happened
00:15:09.87\00:15:11.84
when same-sex
marriage was introduced
00:15:11.87\00:15:14.91
and made a law in America.
00:15:14.94\00:15:16.44
I would suggest to you
that if the Sabbath was changed
00:15:17.45\00:15:20.75
a couple of years ago, the
Christian church would have been
00:15:20.78\00:15:23.92
up in arms about it.
00:15:23.95\00:15:25.45
They would have said,
"How dare man do to God's Word
00:15:25.92\00:15:29.59
when they have no
authority to change God's Word."
00:15:29.62\00:15:32.73
Now right now, the Christian
church for the most part
00:15:32.76\00:15:35.56
is upset about the laws
that are passed in America
00:15:35.83\00:15:38.10
for man to marry man
and woman to marry woman.
00:15:38.13\00:15:41.50
And they say, now
get this, they say,
00:15:41.54\00:15:44.27
"That is not
according to God's Word."
00:15:44.31\00:15:46.94
When did God bless the marriage?
00:15:47.24\00:15:49.14
In the very beginning.
00:15:49.18\00:15:50.88
Thousands of years ago.
00:15:51.11\00:15:53.31
So no one can tell
me that the reason why
00:15:53.62\00:15:56.38
we should accept same-sex
marriage is because the Bible
00:15:56.48\00:15:59.82
is thousands of years too old.

We know that whatever God
blesses is blessed for how long?

Forever.

In the very same way the
Sabbath is blessed for how long?

Forever.

Blessed before
there was any change

in anything that God had done.

There was no sin in the world.

But we know one of the reasons
why the Sabbath is attacked.

It's the same reason why
the marriage is attacked.

And in these last days Satan
has become very, very subtle

in his attempt to change
anything that God has blessed.

Bible talks about this.

The very serpent that
was in the very beginning

is still working today, and he's
doing it in a very cunning way.

He's doing it in a way,
he's giving all the reasons

he possibly can to
substitute the Sabbath
00:16:43.20\00:16:46.63
as he recently did to
substitute the marriage.

Notice what the Bible says.

This is the same serpent.
00:16:51.41\00:16:53.41
Genesis 3:1

Now let me break this down.
00:17:09.19\00:17:11.63
The devil attacked Eve on
the basis of what God had said.
00:17:12.03\00:17:15.66
In other words, he was
saying, "I know what God said,
00:17:15.70\00:17:19.93
but did He really say that?"
00:17:20.40\00:17:22.37
And the only way
that deception can come in
00:17:24.57\00:17:27.04
is if you are not
clear on what God has said.
00:17:27.34\00:17:30.38
But when you read
that God says, "Remember,"
00:17:30.65\00:17:33.88
when the Lord says, "Remember,"
another way of saying, remember,
00:17:33.98\00:17:36.65
is, "Don't forget."
00:17:36.69\00:17:38.05
Right?
00:17:38.09\00:17:39.42
But the devil said, "I know..."
00:17:40.46\00:17:42.29
In other words he's
saying to the Christian world...

And by the way, when
you read the passage,

in prophecy a woman
represents the church.
00:17:46.39\00:17:49.50
So the devil is in essence
saying to the church today,
00:17:49.53\00:17:51.70
the woman who
represents the church, he says,
00:17:51.93\00:17:53.54
"I know what God
said, but did He really say,
00:17:53.57\00:17:57.11
did He really say that?"
00:17:57.64\00:17:59.24
And the sad reality is,
clergy all over the world
00:17:59.64\00:18:03.85
has fallen prey to that
question, "Did God really say
00:18:04.28\00:18:08.05
the Sabbath was necessary?"
00:18:08.08\00:18:09.72
And you find a
thousand reasons today.
00:18:10.32\00:18:12.49
A very quick story.

Because I have so
much to cover tonight.

When I was a teenager and
still involved in gambling,

and pool hustling,
and partying in New York
00:18:17.56\00:18:19.43
I tried to find a
church where I could
00:18:19.53\00:18:20.93
still party and go to heaven.
00:18:20.96\00:18:22.53
You figure that out.
00:18:23.80\00:18:25.13
And I went to a
number of churches to try
00:18:25.57\00:18:27.17
to figure this out, and I
went to a Nazarene church.
00:18:27.20\00:18:30.64
I shouldn't
mention the denomination,
00:18:30.67\00:18:32.01
but I went to a
Nazarene church as a 17 year old
00:18:32.04\00:18:34.64
on a Sunday morning.
00:18:34.68\00:18:36.31
I went to a youth group
and the youth pastor said
00:18:36.75\00:18:39.31
ask whatever
question you'd like.
00:18:39.35\00:18:41.05
Well I had heard
about the Sabbath,
00:18:41.08\00:18:42.48
but I wasn't
crazy about the Sabbath
00:18:42.58\00:18:44.22
because that's when I partied.
00:18:44.25\00:18:45.69
So I said, "Do we have
to keep the Bible Sabbath?"
00:18:46.35\00:18:49.56
That was a very honest
question of a teenager.
00:18:49.59\00:18:51.46
And he said, "Come
with me young man."
00:18:51.49\00:18:52.83
And he invited me to
come with him and follow him.
00:18:52.86\00:18:54.53
And he walked me
across the hallway,
00:18:55.23\00:18:57.53
down the steps of the
church, and to the outside,
00:18:57.57\00:18:59.93
and he said to me these words,
"Don't you ever come back."

I thought...

So I went to a
Pentecostal church next.
00:19:06.24\00:19:08.94
Now really, I'm
telling you my journey.
00:19:10.18\00:19:11.51
I went to a
Pentecostal church next.
00:19:11.55\00:19:13.08
And I asked the bishop,
I said, "Could you tell me
00:19:13.11\00:19:17.19
about the Sabbath, do
we have to keep it or not?"
00:19:17.75\00:19:20.22
And to my amazement, he
rattled off the history of how
00:19:20.32\00:19:25.63
the Sabbath was changed.
00:19:25.66\00:19:27.10
And I'm going to share
that with you tonight briefly.

But he knew exactly about
the change of the Sabbath.
00:19:29.56\00:19:32.33
And he said to me,
"I'll be right back."

Well after 48 minutes and
he didn't come back, I left.
00:19:34.17\00:19:38.64
And I tried one more church.
00:19:39.21\00:19:40.88
I went to the
local Catholic church
00:19:41.08\00:19:42.98
which was not
too far away from me.
00:19:43.08\00:19:44.68
I asked one of the priests,
they called him, father John,
00:19:44.81\00:19:48.28
but I call no man, father,
except my heavenly Father,
00:19:48.32\00:19:51.32
and I said, "Could you
tell me about the Sabbath?"
00:19:51.95\00:19:53.72
He was the only one that
was open and honest to me.

He said, "Well, of course.
00:19:57.53\00:19:58.99
About 2000 years ago,
a little less than that,

the church, our church
was instrumental in changing
00:20:03.50\00:20:06.13
from Sabbath to the
first day of the week.

But we're too far
gone to change now."
00:20:09.50\00:20:11.61
He was the only one that
was clear and open to me.
00:20:12.27\00:20:15.34
But when you think about that,
it's all based on the fact that
00:20:16.04\00:20:18.58
Satan is able to get us to
question what God has said.

Notice the
question that the Lord asked

when He came to Adam and Eve.
00:20:25.32\00:20:27.06
In other words, "Who told
you the Sabbath was changed?
00:20:30.33\00:20:33.19
Who told you that?
00:20:34.10\00:20:35.43
If I told you I blessed
it, who told you other?"
00:20:35.53\00:20:38.77
And then the other
question, "Have you eaten..."
00:20:39.13\00:20:41.20
"Have you swallowed what
they said over what I said?

Have you eaten that?"

The reason why the church
is in so much darkness today
00:20:46.24\00:20:49.01
is because preachers are
telling you what God's Word
00:20:49.28\00:20:52.81
does not sanctify.
00:20:52.85\00:20:54.55
Preachers are telling you what's
not found in God's Word at all.
00:20:55.88\00:20:59.19
And people are eating it without
checking it out themselves.

"Have you eaten from the
tree of which I commanded you

that you should not eat?"
00:21:07.90\00:21:09.23
What was the tree? The
knowledge of good and evil.

And unfortunately in
pulpits around the world today,

good and evil are coming
from that very same fountain.

And rather than
checking it out on God's Word,
