Amen. 00:07:05.22\00:07:09.42 Tonight's message is, Jesus, The Way Out. 00:07:10.69\00:07:13.19 Say that with me. 00:07:13.23\00:07:14.56 Jesus, The Way Out. 00:07:14.96\00:07:17.93 Our first scripture comes from Matthew 1:21. 00:07:18.20\00:07:21.14 And I want to talk about two very important things tonight. 00:07:21.17\00:07:25.01 Now you'll never know how great a Savior Jesus is 00:07:25.04\00:07:30.51 until you understand how great sin really is. 00:07:30.68\00:07:35.35 I'm going to say that again. 00:07:35.98\00:07:37.32 You'll never know how much trouble you have been saved from 00:07:37.82\00:07:41.32 until you realize how much trouble you've been in. 00:07:41.49\00:07:44.09 Let me say it another way. 00:07:45.09\00:07:46.43 Until you almost got bitten by a lion, 00:07:46.90\00:07:50.07 you'll never know how blessed you are to be alive. 00:07:50.10\00:07:52.77 Said one more way. 00:07:54.27\00:07:55.60 If you were the last one to get on the last plane out 00:07:58.37\00:08:01.51 before a major earthquake, you'll never know how 00:08:01.54\00:08:05.08 blessed it is to be the last one. 00:08:05.11\00:08:07.28 Jesus is the only way out. 00:08:08.65\00:08:10.59 And tonight, for us to understand how great 00:08:10.62\00:08:13.66 a Savior He is, in 2000 and whatever year it is, 00:08:13.69\00:08:18.86 18, 19, 20, whenever this meeting is seen 00:08:18.89\00:08:22.03 or whenever it will be seen again, we've got to understand 00:08:22.06\00:08:24.80 how great a Savior He is, but how deep sin really is. 00:08:25.57\00:08:32.14 And I think that one of the things that has happened 00:08:32.47\00:08:34.18 in our world today is, sin has been so redefined 00:08:34.21\00:08:37.51 that they say sin is really a gray area. 00:08:38.31\00:08:41.12 But when I read the Bible, sin is really black and white. 00:08:41.15\00:08:44.42 So let's begin tonight with one of the most blessed 00:08:44.99\00:08:47.26 scriptures in the Bible. 00:08:47.29\00:08:48.62 Matthew 1:21 00:08:48.66\00:08:49.99 And the Bible, what a proclamation! 00:08:50.03\00:08:52.13 This proclamation is the reason why we are still alive today. 00:08:52.23\00:08:56.06 Matthew 1:21, let's read this together. 00:08:57.00\00:08:59.73 And the Bible says, "And she will bring forth a Son. 00:09:00.00\00:09:03.64 And you shall call His name Jesus, for He will 00:09:03.67\00:09:09.98 save His people from their sins." 00:09:10.08\00:09:13.38 Come with me to the laboratory of the most dangerous compound. 00:09:15.22\00:09:18.82 One drop could wipe out an entire city 00:09:19.85\00:09:23.96 of more than a million people. 00:09:23.99\00:09:25.79 Just one drop. 00:09:26.19\00:09:27.53 When inhaled it irreversibly alters the brain functions 00:09:28.66\00:09:33.37 in every living human and animal. 00:09:33.40\00:09:37.97 The most advanced scientists have not been able to 00:09:39.51\00:09:41.68 create an antidote. 00:09:41.71\00:09:43.08 And psychologists have failed in their attempts 00:09:43.28\00:09:45.61 to reverse its behavioral effects on humans. 00:09:45.65\00:09:50.49 I'm not referring to VX, the agent created by the 00:09:51.75\00:09:55.99 Germans in the 1940's. 00:09:56.09\00:09:58.26 VX, simply defined, Venomous Agent X, 00:09:58.63\00:10:01.66 which is defined today as the most toxic agent ever created. 00:10:02.00\00:10:06.10 Used during World War II. 00:10:06.13\00:10:09.00 I'm not talking about the most recent Sarin gas 00:10:11.01\00:10:14.64 that was released in the subways in Asia 00:10:15.31\00:10:17.68 that had taken many lives, 00:10:17.91\00:10:19.65 and released in the tunnels of England not too long ago. 00:10:19.68\00:10:22.88 Not mustard gas, the most popular, 00:10:23.15\00:10:25.12 or Phosgene, the deadliest, or chlorine, the most available. 00:10:25.15\00:10:30.06 Come to the laboratory where the most dangerous 00:10:31.53\00:10:33.63 compound is produced. 00:10:33.66\00:10:35.03 And this most dangerous compound only has three letters. 00:10:35.13\00:10:40.27 S - i - n 00:10:40.80\00:10:46.47 Now you might say, "Well, he's going to talk about sin." 00:10:47.21\00:10:52.41 Let me say something. 00:10:52.45\00:10:55.02 If it were not for sin, we would not be in the hopeless 00:10:57.49\00:11:01.92 state that our world is in. 00:11:01.96\00:11:04.69 If it were not for sin, billions of people would not have died 00:11:06.19\00:11:10.83 as of today. 00:11:10.87\00:11:12.33 If it were not for sin, there would be no wars 00:11:15.07\00:11:17.21 and rumors of wars, nation would not be rising against nation, 00:11:17.24\00:11:21.11 and kingdom against kingdom. 00:11:21.21\00:11:22.74 There would not be hate and violence of indescribable 00:11:22.78\00:11:27.05 magnitude and proportion if sin did not exist. 00:11:27.08\00:11:30.69 So sin is far deadlier than VX, and Sarin gas, and mustard gas, 00:11:30.72\00:11:35.09 and all the other gases that have been produced 00:11:35.12\00:11:37.06 to be used during a time of war. 00:11:37.23\00:11:38.93 Sin is the antagonist, the arch enemy, the adversary. 00:11:38.96\00:11:42.16 And sin has been around a long time. 00:11:42.73\00:11:44.87 Sin lives in every community and in every human heart. 00:11:45.60\00:11:51.41 Sin holds the exclusive patent for every evil ever perpetrated 00:11:52.17\00:11:57.65 and every evil ever created. 00:11:57.91\00:12:01.08 As a matter of fact, among sin's inventory are 00:12:01.68\00:12:04.79 sorrow, crying, death, pain, lying, stealing, 00:12:05.02\00:12:07.99 greed, covetousness, fornication, adultery, 00:12:08.02\00:12:10.79 sexual immorality, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry. 00:12:10.83\00:12:14.13 Shall I go on? 00:12:14.16\00:12:15.60 I will. Thank you for permission. 00:12:15.70\00:12:17.40 Sorcery, witchcraft, hatred, contentions, deceptions, 00:12:18.57\00:12:21.64 jealousies, outbursts of wrath. 00:12:21.67\00:12:24.27 How could one drop of something... 00:12:24.31\00:12:26.81 How could one drop of sin cause so much? 00:12:28.34\00:12:32.41 But I'm not done yet. 00:12:32.45\00:12:33.78 Wrath, selfishness, self-worship, self-love, 00:12:35.12\00:12:39.59 dissension, heresies, envy, murder, drunkenness, revelry. 00:12:39.62\00:12:44.86 Sin is tasteless. 00:12:46.70\00:12:48.26 Sin is odorless. 00:12:48.30\00:12:50.27 And sin is colorless. 00:12:50.30\00:12:52.50 But sin will terminate your life in small doses. 00:12:52.53\00:12:57.21 Sin created racism, but sin is not prejudiced. 00:12:57.61\00:13:01.31 It's an equal opportunity employer. 00:13:01.34\00:13:04.58 Sin is an equal opportunity killer. 00:13:08.75\00:13:11.12 It excludes no one from the grave. 00:13:11.15\00:13:13.49 From the riches to the poorest. 00:13:13.52\00:13:15.26 From the most famous to the most unknown. 00:13:15.29\00:13:17.26 Sin has claimed the lives of the man with the most money 00:13:17.29\00:13:20.83 and the man with no money at all. 00:13:20.86\00:13:22.90 When sin comes knocking, no one can cancel that appointment. 00:13:23.50\00:13:28.30 Sin does not love us, like us, and could care less about us. 00:13:29.07\00:13:32.31 Sin wants us to hurt, cry, and die. 00:13:32.57\00:13:35.11 Sin wants us to live divided, derided, and undecided. 00:13:35.24\00:13:39.58 And because of sin, human actions are often 00:13:39.68\00:13:42.68 misinterpreted, human thoughts are corrupted, 00:13:42.72\00:13:45.79 and human nature is infected. 00:13:46.35\00:13:48.66 Because the Bible says, and here's the reason, 00:13:48.69\00:13:51.36 Romans 3:23, the Bible says... 00:13:51.59\00:13:54.36 Something that seems to be so innocuous can 00:14:00.10\00:14:04.21 keep us all falling short in every attempt we make 00:14:04.24\00:14:07.38 to be like God. 00:14:07.41\00:14:08.94 In our own personalities and in our own efforts 00:14:09.14\00:14:13.15 sin always causes us to miss the mark. 00:14:13.18\00:14:16.75 Matter of fact, on our best day, because of sin 00:14:17.32\00:14:20.96 our righteousness is as filthy rags. 00:14:21.16\00:14:24.93 I like to dress nicely, but I cannot outdress sin. 00:14:25.99\00:14:30.60 It doesn't care how you look, how you dress, how you sing, 00:14:32.30\00:14:34.67 where you live, what you have. 00:14:34.70\00:14:36.17 Sin is evasive, it is everywhere. 00:14:36.81\00:14:39.37 Sin is responsible for every war and every human casualty. 00:14:39.94\00:14:43.88 Sin rejoices over division and laments when there is unity. 00:14:43.98\00:14:49.55 One would think that something so hideous would be easy 00:14:50.49\00:14:52.69 to spot, but sin knows how to hide itself. 00:14:52.72\00:14:55.96 Sin knows how to camouflage and conceal itself. 00:14:56.29\00:14:59.06 It knows how to disguise itself. 00:14:59.46\00:15:01.46 Because sin has been reinterpreted, exalted, 00:15:01.50\00:15:05.10 and embraced. 00:15:05.73\00:15:07.30 And the moral deficit that exists today is because 00:15:07.87\00:15:10.24 the standard that defines sin has been disregarded, 00:15:10.27\00:15:14.71 ignored, and criticized. 00:15:15.14\00:15:17.01 As a matter of fact, statistically speaking 00:15:17.05\00:15:19.38 according to UNICEF, sin is so pervasive 00:15:19.41\00:15:21.88 that every four seconds, this really troubled my heart, 00:15:21.98\00:15:26.55 every four seconds sin claims another child's life. 00:15:26.59\00:15:32.59 When I say, child, I mean 18 years old and under. 00:15:33.36\00:15:35.90 According to UNICEF about 29,000 children 00:15:35.93\00:15:39.57 under the age of 5, sorry, not even 18. 00:15:39.60\00:15:43.67 Under the age of five. 00:15:43.84\00:15:45.37 29,000 children under the age of 5. 00:15:46.84\00:15:50.65 Wow! 00:15:54.88\00:15:56.22 That's twenty-one children every minute. 00:16:00.39\00:16:04.13 More than 70% of almost eleven million children that 00:16:08.26\00:16:12.00 die every year... 00:16:12.03\00:16:13.67 ...is attributed to sin. 00:16:16.67\00:16:18.21 That's why I intended to title this message tonight, 00:16:22.44\00:16:25.91 not to cause you to feel despair, 00:16:25.95\00:16:28.58 but to let you know that without Jesus 00:16:29.68\00:16:31.79 there's nothing but despair. 00:16:31.82\00:16:33.86 Matter of fact, keep going on, I want to really make 00:16:35.32\00:16:38.03 this clear tonight. 00:16:38.06\00:16:39.66 When inhaled, sin radically alters every human emotion 00:16:40.03\00:16:44.77 with unpredictable mood swings. 00:16:44.93\00:16:46.74 That's why when your children misbehave, 00:16:46.77\00:16:48.97 you say to yourself, "Where did that come from?" 00:16:49.00\00:16:51.37 Sin. 00:16:52.34\00:16:53.68 Sin is not necessarily genetically communicated. 00:16:53.74\00:16:57.21 You can have two children, a Cain and an Abel, 00:16:57.45\00:17:00.22 and both from the same mother and father, 00:17:00.25\00:17:02.02 but completely different in their character. 00:17:02.05\00:17:04.02 Why? It's not necessarily what you've done, 00:17:04.05\00:17:06.49 but what sin has done. 00:17:06.52\00:17:08.06 Sin finds itself in our genes, in our DNA. 00:17:08.26\00:17:11.56 When the fumes of sin reaches the impulse center 00:17:11.66\00:17:13.86 of the brain, any number of unpredictable 00:17:13.90\00:17:16.23 and uncontrollable behaviors follow. 00:17:16.26\00:17:18.63 For example, sin causes people to make offensive remarks 00:17:19.00\00:17:22.50 that they later regret. 00:17:22.54\00:17:23.94 Others demonstrate unnatural affection 00:17:24.57\00:17:26.68 that is even unpracticed among animals today. 00:17:26.88\00:17:30.45 Sin. 00:17:30.48\00:17:31.81 Sin makes people falsely accuse one another. 00:17:31.91\00:17:34.62 Others become fierce. 00:17:34.88\00:17:36.45 Some people even become despisers 00:17:36.79\00:17:39.85 of those that are good. 00:17:39.89\00:17:41.56 Why? Just because of sin. 00:17:41.72\00:17:45.49 Sin is linked to the ever increasing murder rate. 00:17:46.06\00:17:48.63 Sin produces distrust in the community, 00:17:48.70\00:17:51.27 instability in the marriage, and disrespect among siblings. 00:17:51.37\00:17:55.74 Parents complain about their children being disobedient, 00:17:55.97\00:17:58.84 unthankful, unholy. 00:17:58.87\00:18:00.84 Spouses report their experience. 00:18:00.88\00:18:03.55 Unloving attitudes, unforgiving spirits, 00:18:03.58\00:18:05.81 and headstrong dispositions. 00:18:05.85\00:18:07.82 Why? 00:18:07.85\00:18:09.18 Simply because of sin. 00:18:09.22\00:18:11.05 The impact of sin on business relationships have been noted. 00:18:11.75\00:18:14.86 People become covetous, heady, high-minded, 00:18:15.02\00:18:18.66 lovers of money, lovers of themselves, lovers of pleasure, 00:18:18.86\00:18:22.60 boasters, proud, traitors. 00:18:22.73\00:18:25.80 Heady, high-minded. 00:18:26.00\00:18:27.94 Sin has also impacted the place of worship. 00:18:29.20\00:18:31.61 Listen carefully. 00:18:32.14\00:18:33.48 Some are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. 00:18:34.31\00:18:37.75 Having a form of godliness, but denying its power. 00:18:37.98\00:18:44.79 When inquiries have been made as to who's responsible 00:18:46.39\00:18:49.02 for sin, we have consulted the most ancient records, 00:18:49.06\00:18:53.29 and here is what we have found. 00:18:53.33\00:18:55.43 Ezekiel walks us into the introduction of this 00:18:55.76\00:18:59.30 insidious chemical called sin. 00:18:59.33\00:19:01.37 Ezekiel 28, speaking about a creation that rolled off 00:19:01.67\00:19:05.51 the hands of a perfect God. 00:19:05.54\00:19:07.58 God looking at this archenemy, this nemesis of law and order. 00:19:07.71\00:19:12.15 And these words were penned for our admonition. 00:19:12.28\00:19:14.95 The mystery of iniquity. 00:19:37.41\00:19:38.97 I don't really believe we'll understand 00:19:39.01\00:19:40.98 everything about sin until God explains to us 00:19:41.04\00:19:43.68 in eternity how this thing happened. 00:19:43.71\00:19:46.45 But how it happened is not as real as it did happen. 00:19:48.28\00:19:52.72 And to deny its existence is to remove yourself 00:19:52.82\00:19:57.33 from the only antidote we have over sin. 00:19:57.36\00:20:00.93 And that is the blood and the power of Jesus. 00:20:00.96\00:20:04.87 Revelation also contributes to the understanding 00:20:06.03\00:20:09.34 of how sin came to this world. 00:20:09.37\00:20:11.27 When Lucifer became disaffected, he began a rebellion 00:20:11.31\00:20:15.24 to carry on his vicious attitude about his determination 00:20:15.28\00:20:18.95 to spread sin everywhere. 00:20:18.98\00:20:21.82 And the Bible records this scuffle that became 00:20:21.85\00:20:26.05 a magnanimous war in heaven. 00:20:26.15\00:20:28.29 Read the scriptures. 00:20:28.32\00:20:29.66 The Bible says in Isaiah, first... 00:20:29.76\00:20:31.73 You know, when you look at leaders today... 00:20:41.80\00:20:43.71 Praise God for political leaders. 00:20:43.74\00:20:45.57 But they're all weak. 00:20:45.61\00:20:46.94 And we get numbed over the idea that the person we voted for 00:20:48.94\00:20:52.61 or didn't vote for did or didn't do what they promised 00:20:52.65\00:20:55.68 or did not promise. 00:20:55.72\00:20:57.05 You know, it's time that we stop putting stock in men or women 00:20:57.19\00:21:00.82 in office and start putting stock in Jesus. 00:21:00.86\00:21:03.96 Because we think that, okay, well this next political leader, 00:21:05.19\00:21:07.90 or this next king, or this next ruler, or this next leader 00:21:07.93\00:21:11.93 I like their agenda. 00:21:12.20\00:21:13.54 And they will be the answer for our nation. 00:21:13.57\00:21:15.57 The only answer for any nation, His name is Jesus. 00:21:15.60\00:21:19.54 This war, let's go to it. Revelation 12:7-9. 00:21:21.31\00:21:26.21 The Bible says, "And there was war..." Where? 00:21:26.25\00:21:28.32 They didn't win. 00:21:39.06\00:21:40.40 So no matter how bad the devil appears to be, 00:21:41.00\00:21:43.67 he cannot defeat Jesus. 00:21:43.70\00:21:46.13 "Neither was there a place found any more in heaven." 00:21:47.07\00:21:53.38 But it continues. 00:21:53.41\00:21:54.74 You see, the condition in the world today... 00:22:14.86\00:22:17.07 Now I want to make it very clear tonight. 00:22:19.53\00:22:20.87 It's not because God created an angel to fall. 00:22:20.90\00:22:24.91 But God created a being just like you and me; 00:22:25.51\00:22:28.18 with free moral agency. 00:22:28.21\00:22:30.05 Some people say, "Well, if God knew that Satan was 00:22:30.45\00:22:32.71 going to sin, why did God create him?" 00:22:32.75\00:22:34.62 Well that's the same thing that you could ask Hitler's mother. 00:22:34.85\00:22:37.95 I could imagine, when Hitler was born 00:22:40.12\00:22:41.49 he was probably a cute little baby. 00:22:41.52\00:22:43.29 Not picking on Hitler. 00:22:44.69\00:22:46.13 But maybe Mussolini was a cute baby. 00:22:46.73\00:22:48.86 Or Idi Amin Dada was a cute baby. 00:22:48.90\00:22:51.70 Maybe Charles Manson was a cute little bundle of joy. 00:22:54.50\00:22:57.84 And the list can go on and on. 00:23:00.94\00:23:02.68 But God gave them something that every one of you have tonight. 00:23:03.04\00:23:05.85 The intellectual ability to decide your own fate. 00:23:05.88\00:23:08.98 The intellectual ability to reason out whether or not 00:23:09.25\00:23:11.92 you want to live or die. 00:23:11.95\00:23:13.62 And to me, it doesn't even make any sense. 00:23:13.92\00:23:15.39 When you consider the world and the condition that it is in, 00:23:15.42\00:23:18.03 it doesn't really make any sense. 00:23:18.06\00:23:20.30 When somebody is saying, "I want to give you life, 00:23:20.43\00:23:23.23 not only abundantly, but everlasting," 00:23:24.00\00:23:27.17 and you say, "No, I would rather party." 00:23:27.20\00:23:29.87 Or, "I would rather another drink or another smoke." 00:23:33.11\00:23:36.14 Or, "I'd rather live immorally." 00:23:36.75\00:23:38.41 "I would rather that." 00:23:38.45\00:23:40.02 But the reason why we feel that way is because 00:23:41.72\00:23:44.35 Satan deceives the world into thinking that 00:23:44.65\00:23:48.59 what he offers is far greater than what God offers. 00:23:48.62\00:23:53.50 And there are some people that try religion, 00:23:56.40\00:23:59.33 and they walk away. 00:23:59.37\00:24:00.70 Religion can't change your life. 00:24:00.80\00:24:02.24 Only Jesus can. 00:24:02.27\00:24:04.01 You can be intellectually astute about all the doctrines, 00:24:04.41\00:24:07.71 you can know the twenty-eight fundamentals 00:24:07.74\00:24:09.18 backward and forward, you can be a person who even 00:24:09.38\00:24:11.75 teaches it, but if you don't have a connection to Christ, 00:24:11.78\00:24:14.88 you are just as intellectually lost as the most educated 00:24:15.28\00:24:20.62 madman that walked the planet. 00:24:20.66\00:24:22.79 It is not intellect that saves us. 00:24:22.82\00:24:24.83 It is the transforming grace of Jesus Christ 00:24:24.86\00:24:27.20 that can save anyone of us. 00:24:27.23\00:24:29.36 But don't fool yourself. 00:24:29.93\00:24:31.43 We are living in a world where Satan works every day 00:24:31.47\00:24:33.77 on coming up with something new to deceive the world. 00:24:33.87\00:24:37.14 The world is in the condition that it is in, not because 00:24:37.17\00:24:39.61 God made a fallen angel. 00:24:39.64\00:24:42.24 But God gave Lucifer the ability to choose his own destiny. 00:24:42.28\00:24:46.61 And the people today that say to me, "Why didn't God 00:24:47.72\00:24:50.55 wipe him out the moment he decided to defect? 00:24:51.65\00:24:57.49 Why didn't God just kill him and start all over?" 00:24:57.53\00:24:59.79 You know, there were angels that had heard 00:24:59.89\00:25:03.83 of Satan's accusations against God. 00:25:03.87\00:25:06.50 And the accusation was, "If God was not so exacting, 00:25:06.53\00:25:11.94 we could do what He asks us to do. 00:25:11.97\00:25:14.84 But God demands obedience. 00:25:14.88\00:25:17.15 And God is just waiting to zap you out 00:25:17.35\00:25:19.65 if you step out of line." 00:25:19.68\00:25:21.02 I'm going to tell you something tonight. 00:25:21.05\00:25:22.38 I am so glad that is not true about God. 00:25:22.42\00:25:24.19 What about you? 00:25:24.22\00:25:25.55 Because the church would have been, like, three members. 00:25:25.79\00:25:28.32 It wouldn't be growing, it would be shrinking. 00:25:29.19\00:25:31.43 Amen for the grace of God, 00:25:32.69\00:25:34.43 and His mercies that are new every morning, 00:25:34.66\00:25:37.13 and His faithfulness that is great. 00:25:37.17\00:25:39.43 So God is not looking for perfect individuals. 00:25:39.90\00:25:41.87 God is looking for men and women that are willing to say, 00:25:41.90\00:25:44.74 "Lord, I cannot resolve this issue without you. 00:25:44.94\00:25:48.01 I understand the condition of the world, 00:25:48.18\00:25:50.11 and it's only getting worse." 00:25:50.15\00:25:51.48 It's getting worse. 00:25:51.51\00:25:52.85 Evil men and seducers are waxing worse and worse. 00:25:52.88\00:25:55.78 The world is getting worse and worse. 00:25:55.82\00:25:57.39 And like an old vehicle that cannot be rebuilt, 00:25:57.42\00:26:01.29 God is going to discard this planet one day and make it anew. 00:26:01.49\00:26:05.86 But don't fool yourself. 00:26:06.70\00:26:08.23 Tonight, Satan is come down having great wrath 00:26:08.26\00:26:11.37 because he knows he has a short time. 00:26:11.40\00:26:13.64 When Satan was cast to the earth, he looked for 00:26:14.30\00:26:16.07 somebody else to deceive. 00:26:16.10\00:26:17.84 He looked for somebody else to deceive. 00:26:18.11\00:26:20.11 And because he was defeated in the midst of creation... 00:26:20.14\00:26:23.41 God created two individuals: Adam and Eve. 00:26:24.38\00:26:30.12 And God did not create Adam and Eve with immortality. 00:26:31.62\00:26:35.09 God created Adam and Eve with the same thing that 00:26:35.49\00:26:38.39 you and I have. 00:26:38.43\00:26:39.76 The ability to choose their own destiny. 00:26:39.79\00:26:42.43 And the only way that Adam and Eve could live eternally 00:26:44.47\00:26:46.97 is having access to the tree of life. 00:26:47.07\00:26:49.64 It sustained their lives. 00:26:49.67\00:26:51.24 That's why when they sinned, the tree was barred. 00:26:51.27\00:26:54.14 And they would only receive eternal life based on 00:26:54.98\00:26:57.45 whether or not they would pass the test. 00:26:57.48\00:26:59.25 Now the Bible reveals the test. 00:26:59.35\00:27:00.78 Although the test scripture is in the New Testament, 00:27:00.88\00:27:03.12 this scripture I'm about to reveal to you 00:27:03.22\00:27:05.29 was true from the very beginning. 00:27:05.32\00:27:06.69 Notice, Romans 6:23. 00:27:06.72\00:27:09.09 Read it with me. The Bible says... 00:27:09.12\00:27:10.53 Adam had to face the test. 00:27:17.87\00:27:20.84 God neither forces our obedience nor insists on our obedience. 00:27:24.71\00:27:30.55 He simply says, "I've given you two choices." 00:27:30.85\00:27:33.18 And when you look at the story, which we're going to 00:27:33.21\00:27:34.65 walk through, when you look at the story, 00:27:34.68\00:27:36.69 if Adam had only passed the test. 00:27:36.79\00:27:39.45 If Adam had only passed the test. 00:27:40.89\00:27:43.19 Now we look back and we lament at Adam. 00:27:43.22\00:27:45.96 We get mad with Adam. You ever got mad with Adam? 00:27:46.13\00:27:48.16 Come one. You ever got mad with Adam? 00:27:48.23\00:27:49.73 When you hear the things on the news, you say, 00:27:50.50\00:27:52.37 "Adam, I mean, what's the problem?" 00:27:52.40\00:27:54.60 Can you imagine how Adam felt when he laid his wife to rest? 00:27:54.64\00:27:59.67 Can you imagine how Adam felt when he lived 930 years, 00:28:00.64\00:28:05.45 and every morning he woke seeing the result of his decision? 00:28:05.48\00:28:09.75 He probably said, "If I had only..." 00:28:11.02\00:28:13.22 And today, many thousands of years removed from 00:28:13.69\00:28:17.06 that bad decision, we are at the same place. 00:28:17.09\00:28:21.53 And we fail to make the other decision that Adam did not make. 00:28:23.37\00:28:27.24 But God had to test Adam. 00:28:28.14\00:28:29.70 Let's go ahead and look at the test. 00:28:29.80\00:28:31.37 God warned Adam that this nerve agent called sin 00:28:31.41\00:28:35.41 was in the garden and was waiting for another victim. 00:28:35.44\00:28:38.68 Let's look together at the story as it unfolds. 00:28:38.71\00:28:41.35 Genesis 2:16-17, the Bible says... 00:28:41.92\00:28:44.55 Now think about that. 00:28:51.06\00:28:52.39 Sometimes as Christians the world tries to make you feel 00:28:52.43\00:28:54.73 that you can't do anything. 00:28:54.76\00:28:56.10 But the Bible says, "...of every tree..." 00:28:56.13\00:28:58.17 How many people do you know that invite you to their house 00:28:58.33\00:29:01.10 and say, "You can eat everything." 00:29:01.14\00:29:02.60 Think about it. 00:29:04.91\00:29:06.24 They say, "There's only one thing you can't eat, 00:29:06.37\00:29:07.94 but everything else you can have." 00:29:07.98\00:29:09.61 "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat." 00:29:10.55\00:29:13.48 And I want to make a point here. 00:29:27.20\00:29:28.63 When Adam was at the point of test between choosing obedience 00:29:29.33\00:29:32.73 and disobedience, Adam did not make that choice 00:29:32.77\00:29:35.67 ignorant of its consequences. 00:29:35.70\00:29:37.67 I've grown up to learn that we are not ignorant of the choices 00:29:39.44\00:29:44.41 we make or the consequences, we just ignore it thinking that 00:29:44.45\00:29:47.95 we are an exception to the rule. 00:29:47.98\00:29:49.78 "I'm not going to get cancer. 00:29:52.25\00:29:53.66 I'm just going to try this drug out. 00:29:54.99\00:29:56.49 It's not going to affect me. 00:29:56.52\00:29:57.86 I know people get brain cancer from it, but not me." 00:29:57.89\00:30:00.50 Adam was completely aware of the consequences. 00:30:02.03\00:30:04.80 And so look at the test. 00:30:05.13\00:30:06.60 Look at the test. 00:30:06.63\00:30:07.97 This is amazing. 00:30:18.68\00:30:20.02 The woman went to the tree 00:30:20.05\00:30:21.48 because the tree couldn't come to her. 00:30:21.52\00:30:23.69 We often find ourselves in the predicament we're in 00:30:24.12\00:30:26.86 because we go looking for what God prohibits us from. 00:30:26.89\00:30:31.36 It doesn't come to find us. 00:30:31.63\00:30:33.19 The club doesn't come to you; you go to the club. 00:30:33.23\00:30:36.67 We go looking for what our human nature desires. 00:30:37.97\00:30:40.87 And when you study sin, the word, "desire," 00:30:40.90\00:30:43.04 is a powerful thing. 00:30:43.07\00:30:44.91 The word, "desire," is a powerful thing. 00:30:45.11\00:30:47.48 Desire is like the seed, the seed that determines 00:30:47.51\00:30:50.75 what the next action is going to be. 00:30:50.78\00:30:52.38 Desire activates the will. 00:30:52.41\00:30:54.78 And the will makes the decision. 00:30:54.82\00:30:56.52 And the decision that the will makes now causes your body 00:30:56.75\00:30:59.39 to move in the direction of your desire. 00:30:59.42\00:31:02.42 So she desired to find out what God prohibited her from. 00:31:03.09\00:31:06.80 And so now she's having a conversation with the agent 00:31:07.40\00:31:10.33 of sin, and he's camouflaging himself. 00:31:10.37\00:31:15.47 And he begins with the question, "Has God indeed said..." 00:31:15.64\00:31:18.34 And tomorrow night we're going to talk about the message, 00:31:18.37\00:31:20.21 or tomorrow, the next meeting is going to be, 00:31:20.24\00:31:21.68 The Book That Breathes. 00:31:22.88\00:31:24.21 You'll discover he attacked her on what the 00:31:24.25\00:31:26.51 word of God had said. 00:31:26.55\00:31:28.15 "Has God indeed said... 00:31:28.18\00:31:30.49 ...you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" 00:31:31.12\00:31:33.22 And the woman responded. 00:31:33.25\00:31:34.59 "And the woman said to the serpent..." 00:31:34.62\00:31:36.12 I use to think that the woman had departed from 00:31:47.64\00:31:50.21 what God had said, because He didn't really say, "touch it." 00:31:50.24\00:31:52.71 But as I studied that further in the Hebrew, 00:31:53.78\00:31:55.64 just recently I studied this further, what the Hebrew 00:31:55.68\00:31:59.25 writers say is that Eve was so certain that she must avoid 00:31:59.28\00:32:04.92 any connection with sin at all that she said, 00:32:04.95\00:32:08.66 "I don't even want to touch it." 00:32:08.69\00:32:10.39 She was fully convinced in her mind that even touching it 00:32:11.86\00:32:15.70 would result in the same thing as eating it. 00:32:16.56\00:32:20.07 So she said, "God said don't even touch it." 00:32:20.47\00:32:22.50 She was emphasizing what she knew God had meant. 00:32:25.71\00:32:28.84 But the devil came back with the lie that has sunk the world. 00:32:29.61\00:32:33.11 I want you to think about that for a moment. 00:32:43.39\00:32:44.79 "You will not surely die." 00:32:44.83\00:32:46.70 In the Hebrew, it's more like this: 00:32:46.83\00:32:48.76 The devil didn't say to her, 00:32:48.80\00:32:50.27 "I am not sure that you will die," 00:32:50.30\00:32:52.30 or, "I'm not really sure that it will affect you." 00:32:52.33\00:32:55.04 He says, "You surely will not die." 00:32:55.07\00:32:56.97 In other words, "I'm sure you're not going to die." 00:32:57.01\00:32:59.17 And so many people have found themselves in predicaments 00:32:59.34\00:33:03.08 because they did not believe that the next action would 00:33:03.11\00:33:06.51 result in their death. 00:33:06.55\00:33:08.38 I can tell you stories about friends 00:33:08.85\00:33:10.82 that would be alive today. 00:33:12.29\00:33:13.66 One friend of mine when I was in junior high school, 00:33:13.69\00:33:15.99 he played hooky from school. 00:33:16.66\00:33:18.23 It was during the early part of winter in New York City. 00:33:18.56\00:33:21.10 And he went to one of those very famous parks. 00:33:21.13\00:33:22.76 You may have heard of Prospect Park. 00:33:22.80\00:33:24.13 You have to be from New York to know what I'm talking about. 00:33:24.17\00:33:26.27 I can't doubt that people leave New York and come to Arizona, 00:33:27.37\00:33:30.31 but just in case you are a New Yorker 00:33:30.34\00:33:32.44 you may have heard about Prospect Park. 00:33:33.24\00:33:34.81 In Prospect Park when the winter months come around 00:33:34.84\00:33:37.31 often times the lakes freeze. 00:33:37.88\00:33:40.78 But it depends on the temperature drop. 00:33:41.08\00:33:43.39 My good friend by the name of Albert, I never forgot that. 00:33:43.42\00:33:47.09 Because it was during the time when Simon and Garfunkel 00:33:47.12\00:33:49.92 had just released the song, Bridge Over Troubled Water. 00:33:49.96\00:33:52.89 I went to visit Albert's house. 00:33:54.06\00:33:56.26 And his mom said he wasn't home. 00:33:56.50\00:33:58.10 And we heard not too long after that 00:33:58.13\00:33:59.93 that Albert had played hooky from school, 00:34:00.14\00:34:03.24 he and two other friends, and they were walking across 00:34:03.27\00:34:05.71 the lake in Prospect Park and the ice broke, 00:34:05.74\00:34:08.18 and Albert drowned that day. 00:34:08.21\00:34:10.51 Now do you think Albert went to drown himself that day? 00:34:11.38\00:34:14.48 Don't you think Albert said, "I surely will not drown. 00:34:14.52\00:34:18.32 Not me, I'm Albert." 00:34:18.35\00:34:20.32 People often expose themselves to dangers 00:34:22.92\00:34:25.19 completely conscious of what the end result could be, 00:34:25.43\00:34:28.13 but they always think, "It's not going to be me." 00:34:28.16\00:34:30.47 Another good friend of mine... 00:34:32.60\00:34:33.94 I could tell you so many stories but time doesn't permit. 00:34:34.27\00:34:36.20 The point of the matter is, he said to Eve, "You will not die." 00:34:36.24\00:34:39.27 "You will not die." 00:34:39.31\00:34:40.64 And look at what he further said to her in verse 5. 00:34:40.68\00:34:42.18 "For God knows..." 00:34:42.21\00:34:43.55 In other words, God knows something that 00:34:43.58\00:34:44.91 He doesn't want to tell you. 00:34:44.95\00:34:46.28 Brothers and sisters, if God hasn't told it to us, 00:34:46.41\00:34:49.22 we don't need to know it. 00:34:49.25\00:34:50.59 The secret things belong to the Lord, but those things that 00:34:51.45\00:34:54.56 are revealed belong to us and to our children. 00:34:54.59\00:34:56.93 That's why whenever I do Revelation seminars, 00:34:56.96\00:34:58.69 when people ask me, "What race was Adam? 00:34:58.73\00:35:01.13 What was his skin color?" 00:35:01.76\00:35:03.33 I say, "Every color." 00:35:03.57\00:35:05.27 From one blood came all nations. 00:35:07.37\00:35:09.14 Amen, you multi-cultural crowd. 00:35:09.17\00:35:11.77 We only have one Father. 00:35:12.21\00:35:13.61 Different mothers, but one Father. 00:35:14.61\00:35:16.54 What relevance is the color of Adam to salvation's decisions? 00:35:17.81\00:35:22.38 And then they ask the other question, 00:35:24.45\00:35:25.79 "Well, if there was only one man and one woman, 00:35:25.82\00:35:28.36 well who did Adam's children have children with?" 00:35:28.46\00:35:31.79 What does that have to do with you today? 00:35:31.99\00:35:33.76 What does that have to do with your salvation? 00:35:35.76\00:35:37.43 What does that have to do with you deciding to follow Jesus? 00:35:37.47\00:35:40.14 Nothing. 00:35:40.17\00:35:41.50 He said to the woman, "God knows that in the day 00:35:42.97\00:35:45.47 you eat of it your eyes will be opened..." 00:35:45.51\00:35:46.94 Sin does open your eyes, but I can tell you this: 00:35:46.98\00:35:49.74 When sin opens your eye, you really don't like what you see. 00:35:49.94\00:35:53.62 "...you'll be like God, knowing good and evil." 00:35:56.72\00:36:00.36 Lord, I wish we did not know evil. 00:36:00.39\00:36:02.22 What about you? 00:36:02.26\00:36:03.59 So the woman fell for it. She got a little bit of it. 00:36:03.93\00:36:05.79 She said, "Well that sounds good. 00:36:05.83\00:36:07.53 God didn't show me His menu, 00:36:07.93\00:36:09.26 but at least you told me about your menu. 00:36:09.30\00:36:10.63 So what's on the menu?" 00:36:10.67\00:36:12.00 So the woman looked at the menu, and she said... 00:36:12.03\00:36:13.54 And I can hear God saying, "Adam, Adam, Adam, Adam." 00:36:31.92\00:36:35.89 One writer said... 00:36:43.26\00:36:44.60 Well I won't quote that writer because 00:36:47.14\00:36:48.54 it's irrelevant to the point, and it will take you away. 00:36:48.57\00:36:51.97 Eve was deceived. 00:36:52.84\00:36:54.88 Hear me carefully. 00:36:54.91\00:36:56.24 But Adam, being given stewardship of the earth, 00:36:56.34\00:37:01.02 opened the door to sin consciously. 00:37:01.22\00:37:04.29 Romans 5:12 says it this way. 00:37:06.32\00:37:08.46 From a baby. 00:37:22.94\00:37:24.27 Now a baby is not a sinner, but a baby has a sin nature. 00:37:24.31\00:37:29.38 Let me make this very clear. 00:37:29.41\00:37:30.78 When I go back to Hitler, when Hitler was born 00:37:31.68\00:37:34.58 he didn't say, "Mom, I have a plan to kill six million Jews." 00:37:34.62\00:37:37.62 He couldn't even talk. 00:37:37.65\00:37:38.99 But he had a sin nature that was unregenerated. 00:37:40.66\00:37:42.89 He had a sin nature that wasn't working. 00:37:42.92\00:37:44.86 He had a sin nature that if untrained and unguided, 00:37:44.89\00:37:50.30 it will lead him in the wrong direction. 00:37:50.67\00:37:52.67 And so she decided to take of this tree. 00:37:52.70\00:37:55.10 And she gave to her husband. 00:37:55.14\00:37:56.54 And then they both fell into sin. 00:37:56.57\00:37:58.51 And what happened? Genesis 3:7-8 00:37:59.67\00:38:02.54 That's exactly what sin does to us. 00:38:07.75\00:38:09.48 It exposes you. 00:38:09.52\00:38:11.05 "...and they sewed fig leaves together and 00:38:11.45\00:38:13.05 made themselves covering." 00:38:13.09\00:38:14.66 You know what that means when it says, "They sewed fig leaves 00:38:14.92\00:38:16.52 together and made themselves covering."? 00:38:16.56\00:38:18.26 They sewed fig leaves together. 00:38:18.29\00:38:20.16 Fig leaves is a representation of righteousness that 00:38:20.40\00:38:24.43 we believe is a substitute for God's righteousness. 00:38:24.47\00:38:28.00 And it always is less of an... 00:38:28.20\00:38:30.94 Let me say it this way. 00:38:31.64\00:38:32.97 Sin... The clothing... 00:38:33.01\00:38:35.34 Let me say it right. 00:38:35.98\00:38:37.31 We could never provide righteousness better than 00:38:37.88\00:38:40.98 the righteousness of God. 00:38:41.02\00:38:42.75 The Bible said fig leaves. 00:38:43.72\00:38:45.62 Little... 00:38:45.85\00:38:47.19 Eve, according to the figures that I have discovered, 00:38:48.19\00:38:53.03 Eve had to be about 14 to 16 feet tall 00:38:53.06\00:38:56.93 and a petite 1200 pounds. 00:38:56.97\00:38:59.33 Imagine Eve in fig leaves. 00:39:00.67\00:39:03.41 And Adam... 00:39:07.08\00:39:08.41 As one pastor said, Eve worked hard to keep her 00:39:09.34\00:39:12.38 weight down to 1200 pounds. 00:39:12.41\00:39:14.25 And Adam about 19 to 21 feet tall. 00:39:17.15\00:39:19.49 This big super human walking around the garden 00:39:19.52\00:39:22.12 with fig leaves on. 00:39:22.16\00:39:23.49 And God said, "This is ridiculous." 00:39:23.53\00:39:25.13 But that's what sin does; it makes coverings. 00:39:26.66\00:39:28.80 It makes coverings that are always insufficient for the 00:39:28.96\00:39:31.30 righteousness of Jesus. 00:39:31.33\00:39:32.67 If you ever decide on your own righteousness, 00:39:32.70\00:39:35.30 read this verse. 00:39:35.40\00:39:36.74 And you'll discover that all you will come up with is fig leaves. 00:39:37.71\00:39:40.91 But the Bible continues. Verse 8. 00:39:41.31\00:39:43.18 That's what sin does. 00:39:53.52\00:39:54.89 "...from the presence of the Lord God 00:40:01.76\00:40:03.23 among the trees of the garden." 00:40:03.26\00:40:04.60 Ask yourself, is there any place that we can hide from God? 00:40:05.17\00:40:08.40 There's absolutely nowhere that we can hide from God. 00:40:09.97\00:40:12.64 The symptoms of sin makes us hide. 00:40:12.67\00:40:15.74 But God doesn't need a GPS to find His children. 00:40:15.78\00:40:21.35 David the psalmist says, even darkness is light to God. 00:40:21.58\00:40:27.99 And he also says, "If I go to the uttermost parts 00:40:31.49\00:40:33.50 of heaven, You're there. 00:40:33.53\00:40:34.86 If I make my bed in the grave, You're there. 00:40:34.90\00:40:36.70 If I go to the depths of the sea, You're there." 00:40:36.73\00:40:38.57 There's no place that God cannot find us. 00:40:38.60\00:40:42.80 And the Bible says they sewed fig leaves together. 00:40:43.97\00:40:45.91 And the pronouncement of judgment on them for this sin 00:40:45.94\00:40:48.24 was a terrible thing, because women today would not 00:40:48.28\00:40:51.15 be going through what they go through 00:40:51.58\00:40:53.78 if Eve had not been disobedient. 00:40:53.82\00:40:56.02 Because of her disobedience, the Lord said to the woman, 00:40:57.89\00:41:00.02 "To the woman He said, 'I will greatly multiply your sorrow 00:41:00.06\00:41:02.32 and your conception...'" 00:41:02.36\00:41:03.69 And get this. This is powerful. 00:41:06.13\00:41:08.03 I'll spend some time one day to really unwrap this. 00:41:08.06\00:41:10.27 But it says... 00:41:10.30\00:41:11.63 Let me take a minute and try to communicate this. 00:41:14.67\00:41:16.57 "Your desire shall be for your husband, 00:41:16.60\00:41:19.34 and he shall rule..." 00:41:19.37\00:41:21.24 In other words, who's the one in control, 00:41:21.28\00:41:22.84 the woman or the husband? 00:41:22.88\00:41:24.21 When you read Romans 7, the Bible talks about the 00:41:24.58\00:41:27.22 woman is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. 00:41:27.25\00:41:30.12 Here's the point. 00:41:30.15\00:41:31.49 It's far deeper than just a physical man named Adam. 00:41:31.52\00:41:33.92 The husband that is talked about there is the sin nature. 00:41:34.02\00:41:37.33 If our desire is for the sin nature, 00:41:37.53\00:41:41.10 the sin nature is in control of us. 00:41:41.13\00:41:43.23 Not the other way around. 00:41:43.26\00:41:44.80 Romans 6:16, "Do you not know that to whom you 00:41:46.43\00:41:48.90 yield yourselves as servants to obey, you are that one's slave 00:41:48.94\00:41:52.71 whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death 00:41:52.74\00:41:55.28 or of obedience leading to righteousness?" 00:41:55.31\00:41:57.95 Once we decide who to yield to, that power 00:41:58.18\00:42:02.02 takes us over immediately. 00:42:02.05\00:42:04.85 And we have no say in what we do. 00:42:04.99\00:42:07.59 That's why the only thing we have the power to do is choose. 00:42:08.19\00:42:10.46 To do what? 00:42:10.49\00:42:11.83 Choose. That's it. 00:42:11.86\00:42:13.19 All we've been given is the power to choose. 00:42:13.23\00:42:14.80 When you choose, Romans 7:17, the Bible says Paul, looking at 00:42:14.90\00:42:18.60 his condition, he said, "It is no longer I who do it, 00:42:18.63\00:42:21.84 but sin that dwells in me." 00:42:21.87\00:42:24.01 And sin will make you do what you thought you would never do. 00:42:24.04\00:42:28.44 But when you yield to Christ, it is no longer I who lives, 00:42:29.28\00:42:32.91 but Christ who lives in me. 00:42:32.95\00:42:34.48 Amen, somebody. 00:42:34.52\00:42:35.85 Sin will make you do what you never thought you would ever do. 00:42:35.88\00:42:38.75 But Jesus causes you to live how you thought 00:42:38.79\00:42:41.49 you could never live. 00:42:41.52\00:42:42.99 What's the difference? 00:42:44.39\00:42:45.73 It depends on which power you choose. 00:42:45.76\00:42:47.46 It depends on which power you choose. 00:42:47.86\00:42:49.56 From the sin of Eve, every woman that is given a child 00:42:49.93\00:42:53.44 has born a child in some kind of pain or the other. 00:42:53.47\00:42:57.31 And men have been, ever since that day men have been 00:43:00.11\00:43:02.31 trying to find a job that don't make them sweat. 00:43:02.34\00:43:04.91 But here's what the Bible says. 00:43:05.78\00:43:07.25 Genesis 3:19 00:43:07.62\00:43:08.95 To dust you shall return. 00:43:19.59\00:43:21.16 Not to heaven. 00:43:21.20\00:43:22.53 And I'll talk about that in a few nights. 00:43:22.56\00:43:23.90 But to dust. 00:43:24.07\00:43:25.40 Adam not only affected his standing with God, 00:43:25.57\00:43:27.77 he impacted every child that would ever be born on the earth. 00:43:28.64\00:43:32.07 In other words, his DNA of sin was passed on to 00:43:32.11\00:43:35.21 everybody in here tonight. 00:43:35.24\00:43:36.85 Every one of us has the DNA of Adam. 00:43:37.28\00:43:39.78 That's sin DNA. 00:43:40.95\00:43:42.58 That in the midst of a song in church, a terrible thought 00:43:43.28\00:43:46.32 comes to our mind and messes up our worship experience. 00:43:46.35\00:43:49.12 The DNA of Adam. 00:43:49.16\00:43:51.96 The DNA of Adam makes us pray, and the moment the prayer 00:43:52.96\00:43:56.53 is done and we see somebody on the other side of the aisle 00:43:56.56\00:43:59.03 that we don't like, it just messes up the way we feel. 00:43:59.07\00:44:02.37 The DNA of Adam. 00:44:02.40\00:44:03.91 The DNA of sin. 00:44:03.97\00:44:05.31 Aren't you looking forward when the DNA of sin 00:44:05.34\00:44:08.54 will be forever replaced with the DNA of righteousness? 00:44:08.58\00:44:12.25 What was the impact on Adam's life? 00:44:16.85\00:44:19.29 Why? 1 Corinthians 15:22 00:44:26.49\00:44:29.30 "For as in Adam, all die; even so, in Christ..." 00:44:29.53\00:44:34.44 All shall be made alive. 00:44:38.47\00:44:41.91 If I were to split this audience down the middle, 00:44:42.11\00:44:44.75 which I won't do tonight, but in reality when you think about 00:44:45.51\00:44:49.62 the right, on the right hand of God there are 00:44:49.65\00:44:51.65 pleasures forever more. 00:44:51.69\00:44:53.02 On the left side are the goats. 00:44:53.05\00:44:54.66 On the right side are the sheep. 00:44:54.69\00:44:56.32 You know, you can always tell a goat, 00:44:56.42\00:44:57.96 because goats "but" all the time. 00:44:57.99\00:45:00.96 "I would keep the Sabbath, but..." 00:45:02.06\00:45:04.33 "I would give my life to Jesus, but..." 00:45:06.53\00:45:09.07 "I want to do what's right, but..." 00:45:12.27\00:45:14.51 And the sheep just hears the Shepherd's voice, 00:45:15.94\00:45:20.02 knows the Shepherd's voice, 00:45:20.52\00:45:23.02 and follows the voice of the Shepherd. 00:45:23.25\00:45:26.19 Adam lived 930 years, and he died. 00:45:27.29\00:45:29.76 He lived 930; Seth, 912; Enosh, 905; Cainan, 910; 00:45:30.03\00:45:34.53 Mahalalel, 895; Jared, 962; Methuselah, 969; Lamech, 777; 00:45:34.56\00:45:41.70 Noah, 950. 00:45:41.74\00:45:43.07 Adam's family line. 00:45:43.10\00:45:44.44 Shem, 500; Nahor, 119; Serug, 200. 00:45:44.47\00:45:50.61 Sin has robbed us of life. 00:45:50.65\00:45:53.01 Today if we live to be 100 years, we get excited about it. 00:45:53.05\00:45:58.02 And we ought to. 00:45:58.45\00:45:59.79 But can you imagine what kind of sin could be produced 00:46:02.96\00:46:06.96 if somebody today, if a drug dealer today 00:46:07.00\00:46:09.73 lived to be 950 years old? 00:46:09.76\00:46:12.53 Now you see why God allowed sin to depreciate our age? 00:46:13.47\00:46:16.71 Can you imagine if Hitler was 745 before he died 00:46:17.31\00:46:20.84 and he was perpetrating evil for that length of time? 00:46:20.98\00:46:23.71 It's the sovereignty and the love of God that causes 00:46:24.35\00:46:26.95 sin to be shortened, and shortened, and shortened. 00:46:26.98\00:46:29.28 And I believe one of the reasons why God does that 00:46:29.38\00:46:31.95 is because He loves His creation so much 00:46:31.99\00:46:34.42 He will not give sin total dominance over creation. 00:46:34.62\00:46:38.96 Amen? 00:46:39.26\00:46:40.60 He wouldn't do it. He wouldn't do it. 00:46:40.63\00:46:42.06 David the psalmist writes these words about our lives. 00:46:42.10\00:46:44.17 And this is a sobering text, 00:46:44.20\00:46:45.80 because it uses the word, "seventy." 00:46:46.13\00:46:48.00 Well, let's not mess with that tonight. 00:46:48.04\00:46:50.17 To understand that, read the beginning of 1 Kings. 00:46:55.71\00:46:59.88 When David was advanced in years, the Bible said 00:47:00.28\00:47:02.52 he was 70 years old. 00:47:02.55\00:47:04.12 When he called his son Solomon to reign 00:47:04.42\00:47:06.19 in his stead, he was only 70. 00:47:06.22\00:47:07.79 Now 70 is not a bad age. 00:47:07.82\00:47:10.09 The young people are not saying anything. 00:47:15.03\00:47:16.73 That's what a vapor does. Flies away. 00:47:30.11\00:47:32.41 Look at the kettle tonight when you make something hot 00:47:32.45\00:47:34.58 before you go to bed. 00:47:34.62\00:47:35.95 Just stand there and look at the vapor. 00:47:35.98\00:47:37.32 Where does it go? It just flies away. 00:47:37.42\00:47:39.72 That's life. 00:47:39.95\00:47:41.29 It's so fleeting in this life. 00:47:41.32\00:47:42.66 That's why tonight, Jesus is the only way out. 00:47:42.69\00:47:45.76 I can get an amen somewhere? 00:47:45.86\00:47:47.46 The only way out. 00:47:47.73\00:47:49.36 When crime and violence is at its height, 00:47:49.40\00:47:52.03 Jesus is the only way out. 00:47:52.07\00:47:54.44 When the grave... 00:47:54.54\00:47:55.87 My sister has seen so many of her friends die 00:47:55.90\00:47:58.47 because of 9/11 at the World Trade Center. 00:47:58.51\00:48:00.94 She said to me, she said, "John, I could retire 00:48:01.04\00:48:03.65 just out of shear agony from all the funerals I attended." 00:48:03.68\00:48:08.32 But she's still alive to this day because my wife and I 00:48:08.85\00:48:11.22 pray for her every day. 00:48:11.25\00:48:13.12 She left the church at 16 years old. 00:48:13.72\00:48:15.49 And I'm praying every day, "Father, give her more time 00:48:15.52\00:48:18.73 that she can come back before the sin problem 00:48:19.49\00:48:22.63 is forever resolved." 00:48:22.66\00:48:24.83 Praying for her to come back. 00:48:24.87\00:48:26.37 And God, in His sovereignty, allowed her to stay home 00:48:26.63\00:48:29.40 on September 10th and go to work late on September 11th. 00:48:29.44\00:48:34.34 She was going to go to work at 6 am in the morning, 00:48:34.91\00:48:36.71 but because I prayed for her, the Lord, 00:48:36.75\00:48:38.31 in the middle of the evening, late in the night 00:48:38.41\00:48:40.88 as a matter of fact, she went to a club with 00:48:40.92\00:48:42.82 other firefighters and police officers, and people that 00:48:42.85\00:48:45.29 work in the force, and about 4 o'clock in the morning 00:48:45.32\00:48:47.79 she said, "I'm not going to work at six. 00:48:47.82\00:48:49.16 I'm going to go to work at ten." 00:48:49.19\00:48:50.59 And that one decision saved her life. 00:48:50.63\00:48:53.13 And I called my sister as soon as my wife and I 00:48:55.66\00:48:57.90 landed in Canada. 00:48:57.93\00:48:59.27 We were one of the first planes that were redirected to 00:48:59.30\00:49:01.50 Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. 00:49:01.54\00:49:04.34 And as soon as we landed I called my sister, and she said, 00:49:05.01\00:49:07.18 "God has been good to me." 00:49:07.21\00:49:08.61 And I rejoiced that she even mentioned the word, "God." 00:49:08.64\00:49:11.35 And just last week I talked to her when I came back 00:49:12.25\00:49:14.22 from New York a few weeks ago. 00:49:14.25\00:49:15.58 And I told her in the midst of a church service 00:49:15.62\00:49:17.69 in New York City, she was sitting in the audience, 00:49:17.72\00:49:19.85 and I looked at my sister and I said, 00:49:19.89\00:49:21.49 "Sister, when Jesus comes and mama Haynes comes forth 00:49:22.16\00:49:29.73 from her grave, and we meet in heaven, 00:49:29.76\00:49:31.67 and she says to me, 'What happened to your sister?'" 00:49:31.93\00:49:34.07 I looked at my sister and I said, 00:49:34.10\00:49:35.44 "What am I going to say?" 00:49:35.47\00:49:36.81 You cannot afford to miss heaven. 00:49:39.11\00:49:40.54 And I called my sister when I got home, and she said, 00:49:40.58\00:49:42.34 "Brother, I'm listening to you. 00:49:42.38\00:49:44.08 I'm going to surprise you one day." 00:49:44.11\00:49:45.91 That's why I believe today the most successful 00:49:48.75\00:49:50.72 evangelist was Noah. 00:49:50.75\00:49:52.59 When the ark's doors were closed, 00:49:53.59\00:49:55.69 all family members accounted for. 00:49:56.76\00:49:59.33 You see, tonight I'm talking about Jesus, the only way out. 00:50:02.33\00:50:05.50 There's no other way out other than the way 00:50:05.53\00:50:07.74 that comes through Jesus. 00:50:07.77\00:50:09.67 You see, God knew, God knew the results of sin. 00:50:09.87\00:50:13.88 Now there's one more verse, I have a few more before 00:50:13.91\00:50:16.51 I end tonight, but there's one more verse in the story 00:50:16.54\00:50:18.55 of the fall of Adam and Eve that gives me the most hope. 00:50:18.58\00:50:21.98 Look at it together. 00:50:22.22\00:50:23.55 Genesis 3:9 00:50:24.09\00:50:26.59 God was not asking for a location, 00:50:34.86\00:50:38.03 God was asking for confession. 00:50:38.07\00:50:40.84 God knew where he was. 00:50:41.60\00:50:43.20 Well sometimes you say, "Where are you on that project?" 00:50:43.24\00:50:46.04 "Where are you in your relationships?" 00:50:46.07\00:50:47.94 "Where are you in your education?" 00:50:47.98\00:50:49.38 "Where are you in your assignments?" 00:50:49.41\00:50:50.75 "Where are you?" 00:50:50.78\00:50:52.11 Not asking where you are, 00:50:52.15\00:50:53.48 but what is your stand, what is your position? 00:50:53.52\00:50:55.05 God was saying to Adam, "Come on Adam, 00:50:55.08\00:50:56.95 this is the moment to confess." 00:50:56.99\00:50:58.75 And what did Adam do? "The woman You gave me..." 00:50:58.79\00:51:01.02 What did the woman do? "The serpent You created..." 00:51:03.02\00:51:05.36 Trying to pass off blame. 00:51:06.70\00:51:08.13 That's why today human nature would rather blame 00:51:08.16\00:51:11.40 than confess and be transformed. 00:51:11.60\00:51:14.80 But the good news is, the good news is, 00:51:16.04\00:51:18.11 just in case you missed it, 00:51:18.14\00:51:19.47 Adam didn't go looking for Jesus. 00:51:19.54\00:51:21.78 Jesus came looking for Adam. 00:51:21.81\00:51:23.65 You see, tonight we can be saved, not because 00:51:24.51\00:51:26.28 we found God, but God found us. 00:51:26.31\00:51:28.65 He came to Phoenix to find you. 00:51:28.92\00:51:30.99 He didn't say, "Find out where I am." 00:51:31.12\00:51:32.49 Because the Bible says, "Can we by searching find out God?" 00:51:32.52\00:51:35.09 No. 00:51:35.12\00:51:36.46 But He can find us. 00:51:36.49\00:51:37.83 He came here to find us. 00:51:37.86\00:51:39.39 He came here to find those of you that are watching 00:51:39.59\00:51:41.36 the program, wherever you may be looking at this, 00:51:41.40\00:51:43.20 God is hunting you down. 00:51:43.30\00:51:45.03 The love of God is insatiable and He will not stop until 00:51:45.60\00:51:49.14 He's done everything He can to let us know that He loves us. 00:51:49.17\00:51:53.58 That's why I end with this passage tonight that you love 00:51:53.61\00:51:56.28 and we all love, and let's say it together. 00:51:56.31\00:51:58.18 We don't serve a God who condemns us. 00:52:23.04\00:52:25.21 He condemns sin. Amen. 00:52:25.24\00:52:27.58 If you feel condemned, it's not because God did it. 00:52:28.18\00:52:30.38 The Bible says, "If our heart condemns us..." 00:52:31.51\00:52:33.98 And God is greater than our hearts. 00:52:34.02\00:52:36.02 Why would our heart condemn us? 00:52:36.05\00:52:37.39 Because He put His law in our minds and in our hearts. 00:52:37.42\00:52:39.79 And when God's law is there, it will pull our coattail 00:52:39.82\00:52:42.92 until we either turn off our receptors to righteousness 00:52:42.96\00:52:46.16 or simply give into the love of God. 00:52:46.36\00:52:48.70 And I thank God for that. 00:52:48.80\00:52:50.17 Because when Adam sinned, the Bible says in Genesis 3:14, 00:52:50.20\00:52:54.24 God said, "I will put enmity between you and the woman." 00:52:54.34\00:52:56.87 That's the comfort of discomfort. 00:52:56.91\00:52:58.97 God put in us enmity so that sin makes us uncomfortable. 00:52:59.01\00:53:03.68 So when you do something wrong, that comfort is not an emotion 00:53:03.71\00:53:06.41 you have, but God put that safety system there 00:53:06.45\00:53:09.85 so that you know that that discomfort should lead you 00:53:09.88\00:53:14.39 to run to the Savior who will bring that discomfort 00:53:14.42\00:53:18.13 to redemption. 00:53:18.23\00:53:19.56 That's why tonight, my last scripture, 00:53:20.16\00:53:22.30 I love it so much. 00:53:22.76\00:53:24.10 This message was not only in the Garden of Eden, 00:53:24.43\00:53:26.47 not only when Adam sinned, not only when Jesus came, 00:53:26.97\00:53:30.04 but look at what the Bible talks about. 00:53:30.07\00:53:31.57 And tomorrow night we're going to amplify this. 00:53:31.61\00:53:33.44 I love this passage. 00:53:33.84\00:53:35.24 The s-i-n. 00:53:44.62\00:53:46.19 The deadliest compound ever created. 00:53:46.22\00:53:49.06 Not what you do, but what causes you to do what you do. 00:53:49.09\00:53:55.33 The deadliest compound. 00:53:56.03\00:53:57.37 Tonight, as Tim plays, I want you to know that 00:53:57.40\00:54:00.74 Jesus has an answer for us. 00:54:00.77\00:54:03.77 Jesus came down so that we can one day go up. 00:54:04.21\00:54:07.08 Jesus walked our road so that one day we can walk His road. 00:54:07.98\00:54:11.21 Amen, somebody. 00:54:11.25\00:54:12.58 He was arrested so that we could be set free. 00:54:12.78\00:54:14.68 He was declared guilty so that we could be declared innocent. 00:54:14.72\00:54:18.29 He was condemned so that we could be pardoned. 00:54:18.75\00:54:20.66 He was treated as a criminal so that we can be 00:54:20.76\00:54:23.63 treated as royalty. 00:54:23.66\00:54:25.26 He was stripped so that we could be covered. 00:54:25.43\00:54:27.36 He wore our thorns so that one day we could wear His crown. 00:54:27.60\00:54:31.73 Jesus suffered the shame of death so that one day 00:54:32.43\00:54:36.60 we can share the glory of life. 00:54:36.64\00:54:39.71 Tim, bless us tonight. 00:54:39.74\00:54:41.11 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, 00:54:43.14\00:54:49.88 just to take Him at His word, 00:54:50.79\00:54:57.19 just to rest upon His promise, 00:54:58.26\00:55:04.30 just to know, "Thus saith the Lord." 00:55:05.50\00:55:14.84 Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him, 00:55:15.44\00:55:22.72 how I've proved Him o'er and o'er. 00:55:23.39\00:55:30.79 Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus, 00:55:31.46\00:55:38.10 oh for grace to trust Him more. 00:55:39.13\00:55:46.41 As Tim continues to play, let me tell you why 00:55:46.64\00:55:48.64 Jesus is the only way out. 00:55:48.68\00:55:50.68 You see, friends, this story is going to end on a high note. 00:55:51.35\00:55:54.98 One day sin will be eradicated, and death will be terminated. 00:55:56.02\00:56:00.32 One day pain will be eliminated, and sorrow will be terminated. 00:56:00.59\00:56:04.79 One day war will be assassinated, 00:56:05.19\00:56:07.30 hate will be obliterated. 00:56:07.33\00:56:09.60 Sinners will be extricated, life will be celebrated. 00:56:09.70\00:56:12.90 Satan will be annihilated, and Jesus will be vindicated. 00:56:13.07\00:56:17.04 And this experience can be yours if you simply trust in Jesus. 00:56:17.31\00:56:21.04 Anybody tonight want to trust in Jesus? 00:56:21.38\00:56:23.48 You want to trust Jesus with your life? 00:56:24.38\00:56:26.08 As we sing the second stanza, if you want to just say tonight, 00:56:28.45\00:56:31.09 "Lord Jesus, I want to turn my life over to You." 00:56:31.12\00:56:33.86 We may end with our television audience, but we're going to 00:56:33.89\00:56:36.69 sing here, and after that we're going to pray. 00:56:36.73\00:56:38.53 Because there's someone watching the program tonight 00:56:38.83\00:56:40.90 that wants to give his or her life to Christ. 00:56:40.93\00:56:42.96 If that's your decision, you can go to 3ABN.org 00:56:43.37\00:56:46.87 and contact us, or go to the 3ABNPhoenix.com website 00:56:48.47\00:56:53.88 and notify us about your decision. 00:56:53.91\00:56:56.41 Notify your pastor about your decision. 00:56:56.81\00:56:59.11 Let us know so that we can pray for you. 00:56:59.15\00:57:01.12 Because there's no greater decision than to follow Jesus, 00:57:01.15\00:57:03.99 who is the only way out. 00:57:04.02\00:57:06.35 Tonight I want to pray with you before 00:57:06.59\00:57:08.82 we sing that chorus again. 00:57:08.86\00:57:10.23 Father in heaven, tonight we pray that we can 00:57:10.43\00:57:13.80 respond to the call of God. 00:57:14.26\00:57:15.60 He's saying to us, "Where are you?
