Vessel for the Refiner,

so many things come to mind.

One, a vessel is
something that holds things

and we are a
vessel for the presence

and power of God
through his Holy Spirit.

And then of course, a
refiner is something that shapes

and mold and polishes a vessel
00:01:33.02\00:01:35.42
or a stone or a
rock or a diamond.

So you kind of have an
idea where pastor is going,

because he is talking about us
as vessels of honor for Christ,

and then the molding process

that Christ takes
each of us through

to be filled completely

with the spirit

We talked about

We realize that
it's not just emotion,

it's not just feelings

commitment to Jesus Christ

We need to be walking by faith
and certainly not by sight.

We need to have
unquestionable confidence

Too often we read it,

we come up with the
all kind of questions

of, challenging God.

It's okay to
have good questions,

but never
challenge His authority,

never challenge what
the word of God has said.

And we need to have
the assurance of His love.

So I pray as we're
studying together here,

you have that assurance

that He loves you
with an everlasting love.

If you doubt that, just
think for a moment about Calvary

I think about Calvary
and I thank God for it.

Bible said it is the
time that we live in,

that we need to be careful

that we don't
grieve the Spirit of God.

There's a lot of ways

in which to
grieve the spirit of God.

Ephesians 4:30 talks about that,

"And grieve not
the Spirit of God

whereby ye are sealed..."

Very good, "Until
the day of redemption."

So we have to be
very, very careful

that we're not going about
grieving the Spirit of God.

And you say,
"What does that mean?"

You realize there is millions

that are grieving
the Spirit of God today.

Grieve here means distress.

You can distress
the Spirit of God.

He's talking to,
grieve here means to be sad.

It means to be heavy.
It means to be sorrowful.

So we need not
grieve the Spirit of God,

the Holy Spirit of God.

God is wooing us
into a relationship

by the power of the Holy Spirit
to fill us with His spirit

and many are rejecting that.

one of those rejecting.

The Bible says,

I liked that being sealed,

because that means
He is going to stamp us.

He's going to preserve us,

that's what it's
talking about here.

He's going to keep us,
you know, it's a security.

He's securing
us into His family.

You know, a lot
of times people say,

just tell me what to
do, and just make me do it.

Holy Spirit does
not operate that way.

The Holy Spirit comes to
us and love and in concern

and tries to woo
us into relationship.

You know, we're
free moral agents,

God's given us that
to be able to, you know,

make decisions to
weigh the evidence all out

and then by the grace of God

trying to prove one point,

have they say on the subject

a pretty good discussion

but his bottom-line was,

interesting because he said,

bottom-line is he said,

"I hope that
you're a good swimmer."

And I said, "I beg your pardon."

"Said I hope that

Now I said, "What
do you mean by that?"

He said, "Because
you're going to be swimming

in hell fire for eternity."

I said, "Well, who
put you in charge of this?

Who made you
judge? I read the Bible."

He said, "Well, I can judge."

I said, "You have
no right to judge,

I've no right to judge."

And so he is making judge,

he's setting
himself in the place of God.

Then I said, "Well,
we need to understand

what the truth
is even about hell."

And the truths of God's word,

but what happen was the
truths of the God's word

inflamed this man.

That he set himself up
as judge and, you know,

and he condemned
and he past sentence.

We need be very careful of that,

we need to
weigh the evidence out

in the light of what?

Many people put a lot of effort,

effort into a certain things

what if I put enough effort,

enough work and assure
that I'm gonna gain victory.

Oh friend, remember
it's not our efforts

that bring victory,

it's not our efforts
that what bring victory

but it's seeing
God behind the promise.

behind the promises?

Or you trying to just
work your way and they say,

try to work your way in?"

You can't get to heaven

to heaven you will have, right?

Because, you know, Galatians
even Galatians 5:16 says

we need to know what,
