Hello, I'm Shelley Quinn. 00:00:01.33\00:00:02.66 Please join us today on Pressing into His Presence, 00:00:02.70\00:00:05.33 as we will learn how to plead for the perishing. 00:00:05.37\00:00:09.04 Welcome to Pressing into His Presence. 00:00:29.76\00:00:32.26 This series on prayer is based on a teaching that I was 00:00:32.29\00:00:35.66 privileged to share in a book that is titled the same, 00:00:35.70\00:00:39.37 Pressing into His Presence. 00:00:39.40\00:00:40.80 And if you're following along in your resource book, 00:00:40.84\00:00:44.41 today we're going to begin on Chapter 7, as we begin our 00:00:44.44\00:00:48.58 discussion on intercessory prayer. 00:00:48.61\00:00:51.41 You know, I recall that first day when the Lord was teaching 00:00:51.45\00:00:56.92 me to press into His presence. 00:00:56.95\00:00:58.95 I was sitting at His feet learning how to pray. 00:00:58.99\00:01:02.22 And after pressing in through praising Him, and then pouring 00:01:02.26\00:01:07.96 out my heart in repentance, I was primed to ask God 00:01:07.96\00:01:12.03 for His help to overcome the problems of my life. 00:01:12.07\00:01:15.60 But pausing, I remember that it was the Holy Spirit who was 00:01:15.64\00:01:19.64 to be directing me. 00:01:19.67\00:01:21.01 So I said, Lord, how do you want me to advance in prayer? 00:01:21.04\00:01:25.91 Please teach me. And suddenly a Vacation Bible School banner 00:01:25.95\00:01:30.89 came to my mind. And this banner said, Joy, J-O-Y, and it stood 00:01:30.92\00:01:37.16 for Jesus, others, and yourself. 00:01:37.19\00:01:40.83 Simply put, this profound message implied that true joy 00:01:40.86\00:01:45.73 was attained only when our priorities are ordered such 00:01:45.77\00:01:49.47 that Jesus is first, our fellow man is second, and then, 00:01:49.50\00:01:54.38 only then, is it safe to focus on ourselves. 00:01:54.41\00:01:58.18 I felt God was calling me to intercede on behalf of others. 00:01:58.21\00:02:03.52 Now my habit during intercessory prayer had been to start with 00:02:03.55\00:02:10.16 family members, and then friends, then I would advance to 00:02:10.19\00:02:14.36 broader circle of humanity. 00:02:14.36\00:02:16.56 But the Holy Spirit ordered my prayer, and to my surprise, 00:02:16.60\00:02:20.57 He reversed my typical pattern. 00:02:20.60\00:02:23.41 I was led to pray for world situations and leaders, 00:02:23.44\00:02:28.44 the destitute, and the down trodden, believers around the 00:02:28.48\00:02:32.95 world, then associates, then church, family, friends, 00:02:32.98\00:02:37.29 and extended family, and then my close family members, 00:02:37.32\00:02:41.72 and finally, for my precious husband, J. D. 00:02:41.76\00:02:44.86 And after several weeks of praying like this, I understood 00:02:44.89\00:02:49.46 why God ordered my prayer in this fashion. 00:02:49.50\00:02:52.47 I'm going to save that and share that thought with you 00:02:52.50\00:02:56.00 on a later program. 00:02:56.04\00:02:57.54 But it's special! It's an understatement to say that 00:02:57.57\00:03:02.28 I did not have a good understanding of intercessory 00:03:02.31\00:03:05.05 prayer when I began. 00:03:05.08\00:03:06.82 My feeble attempts were, to say the least, lackluster until 00:03:06.85\00:03:12.65 I learned the inherent power of affirmations, which is what we 00:03:12.69\00:03:17.76 talked about in our last program. 00:03:17.79\00:03:19.86 When I began pleading God's promises over others, 00:03:19.89\00:03:24.10 He practiced, He polished my practice of prayer 00:03:24.13\00:03:28.70 to a new brilliance. 00:03:28.74\00:03:30.54 So beginning today, I'd like to share a few highlights of what 00:03:30.57\00:03:34.71 the Lord has taught me about intercessory prayer. 00:03:34.74\00:03:37.31 This important topic is going to take several programs to cover. 00:03:37.35\00:03:41.32 And I want to first give you a preview of seven key points 00:03:41.35\00:03:46.39 that we will be considering. 00:03:46.42\00:03:48.09 When we have completed our closer look at these points, 00:04:31.30\00:04:34.07 I hope that your hearts will be stirred to spend seasons 00:04:34.10\00:04:38.87 in earnest intercession, lifting others up 00:04:38.91\00:04:42.08 before His throne of grace. 00:04:42.11\00:04:43.55 It's so important! 00:04:43.58\00:04:45.28 Now, as a matter of observation only, we have been considering 00:04:45.31\00:04:50.45 how the progression of our prayer segments correlate 00:04:50.49\00:04:54.02 with the ministry of the sanctuary of old. 00:04:54.06\00:04:56.56 Let's see how intercession is related. 00:04:56.59\00:04:58.86 A priest entering into the Holy Place, which was the first 00:04:58.89\00:05:02.36 compartment of the sanctuary, would see to his left 00:05:02.40\00:05:05.60 the table of showbread. 00:05:05.63\00:05:06.97 Then over to his right would be the golden candlesticks. 00:05:07.00\00:05:11.47 But directly in front of him was the altar of incense, 00:05:11.51\00:05:15.08 at the far end of chamber. 00:05:15.11\00:05:16.64 And that was centered directly before the veil, 00:05:16.68\00:05:20.68 the hanging door between the Most Holy Place 00:05:20.72\00:05:24.69 and the Holy Place. 00:05:24.72\00:05:26.29 And this Most Holy Place that this veil separated, 00:05:26.32\00:05:31.89 was what contained the ark of the testimony. 00:05:31.93\00:05:35.13 Everything in the sanctuary was representative of Christ, 00:05:35.16\00:05:40.07 and of God's plan of redemption. 00:05:40.10\00:05:42.80 As we discussed in our last two programs, the table of 00:05:42.84\00:05:46.44 showbread, and affirmations, are connected in type. 00:05:46.47\00:05:49.78 Now we will see how intercession, and that golden 00:05:49.81\00:05:54.95 altar of incense are likewise connected in type. 00:05:54.98\00:05:58.65 The altar of incense represented Christ's intercession. 00:05:58.69\00:06:03.29 A special incense burned upon this golden altar 00:06:03.32\00:06:07.76 morning and night. 00:06:07.76\00:06:09.10 And it was a compound of fragrant spices, 00:06:09.13\00:06:12.50 and it had gums, and it was a unique formula that was 00:06:12.53\00:06:16.30 given by Moses to God. 00:06:16.34\00:06:17.87 And it was required for that golden altar. 00:06:17.91\00:06:21.18 Pronounced Most Holy, this special incense could be used 00:06:21.21\00:06:26.11 exclusively in the Holy Place, and for absolutely no other 00:06:26.15\00:06:30.82 purpose. As the sweet spices burned continually with fire 00:06:30.85\00:06:37.09 taken from the brazen altar of sacrifice, 00:06:37.13\00:06:39.69 the perfume of their fragrance permeated the Holy Place. 00:06:39.73\00:06:44.57 Now in the earthly days of sanctuary services, 00:06:44.60\00:06:48.10 Aaron, the High Priest, burned this incense 00:06:48.14\00:06:51.94 upon the golden altar. 00:06:51.97\00:06:53.44 But later the Levite priests assumed the responsibility. 00:06:53.48\00:06:57.38 The perfumed smoke rising from the burning incense in front 00:06:57.41\00:07:02.85 of the veil was an emblem of prayer, and representative of 00:07:02.88\00:07:08.12 Christ's continual intercession for us. 00:07:08.16\00:07:10.93 Let's look at three scriptures for reference to this. 00:07:10.96\00:07:15.33 First is Psalm 141:2. David said: 00:07:15.36\00:07:21.50 And then in Revelation 5:8 it says: 00:07:31.35\00:07:37.39 And Revelation 8:3 tells us: 00:07:52.57\00:07:55.50 Please note that a special incense was mentioned 00:08:11.15\00:08:17.39 in Revelation 8:3. 00:08:17.43\00:08:18.96 This incense was added to those prayers that were offered... 00:08:18.99\00:08:23.33 It was added and offered to the prayers of the saints 00:08:23.37\00:08:26.03 when they reached the throne room of God. 00:08:26.07\00:08:28.27 And, by the way, let me just take a sidebar here. 00:08:28.30\00:08:31.67 The word saint means set apart for God, and it is applied to 00:08:31.71\00:08:36.75 all of God's people in both the Old and the New Testaments. 00:08:36.78\00:08:41.08 So, anyway, as we are praying in intercession, and we exhaled 00:08:41.12\00:08:47.32 the aroma of our prayers, Christ adds His prayers to ours 00:08:47.36\00:08:52.49 to give them the perfumed fragrance that is 00:08:52.53\00:08:55.03 pleasing to our Father. 00:08:55.06\00:08:56.50 His Most Holy incense added in heaven is the required 00:08:56.53\00:09:01.97 ingredient of God's special formula. 00:09:02.00\00:09:04.81 It is presented with the offering of the Lamb of God 00:09:04.84\00:09:09.08 at Calvary's cross as symbolized by the prescribed fire 00:09:09.28\00:09:13.08 from the altar of burnt offering. 00:09:13.11\00:09:14.78 Only through Christ can our prayers have efficacy. 00:09:14.82\00:09:19.32 His intercession results in the release of God's blessing. 00:09:19.35\00:09:24.56 The Bible tells us that there's only one mediator, 00:09:24.59\00:09:28.46 only one who stands as our advocate with the Father, 00:09:28.50\00:09:33.50 Jesus Christ. He alone can make our prayers acceptable. 00:09:33.54\00:09:38.31 And it is in His name only that we must pray. 00:09:38.34\00:09:43.38 Christ, our great intercessor, pleads for the perishing 00:09:43.41\00:09:48.65 before God on the merits of what He accomplished at the cross. 00:09:48.68\00:09:54.06 Isaiah 53:5, 12 says this: 00:09:54.09\00:10:00.53 Christ assigns the duty, and grants the privilege of 00:10:23.79\00:10:29.96 intercessory prayer to His disciples. 00:10:29.99\00:10:34.50 Not because of our merits, but on the grounds of trusting 00:10:34.56\00:10:39.20 in the One who died for our sins, who lives to make 00:10:39.23\00:10:43.07 intercession for us, and is able to save us to the uttermost. 00:10:43.10\00:10:47.28 Our prayers are acceptable to God because 00:10:47.31\00:10:51.71 of Christ's intercession. 00:10:51.75\00:10:53.52 You know, in John 14:13, 14, Jesus instructs us to ask 00:10:53.55\00:11:02.16 in His name, which pleads His intercession. 00:11:02.19\00:11:06.09 The Holy Spirit teaches us to pray, and Christ's intercession 00:11:06.13\00:11:11.13 makes it possible for our prayers to be answered. 00:11:11.17\00:11:14.20 Now before we advance in this teaching, let me share an 00:11:14.24\00:11:19.21 interested and related note about the temple that stood 00:11:19.24\00:11:23.58 during Jesus' days. 00:11:23.61\00:11:25.75 Herod the Great, the king of Judea at the time, 00:11:25.78\00:11:29.15 built this temple, restoring it to the former glory of Solomon's 00:11:29.18\00:11:33.09 temple in an attempt to gain favor with the Jews. 00:11:33.12\00:11:37.99 Now M. G. Edwards, excuse me, M. G. Easton's, 00:11:38.03\00:11:44.20 Illustrated Dictionary of the Bible, contains a drawing 00:11:44.23\00:11:48.77 of the layout of Herod's temple. 00:11:48.80\00:11:51.04 And depicted in the outer court were the place of the 00:11:51.07\00:11:55.04 slaughtering, and the laver between the outer court 00:11:55.08\00:11:57.55 and the Holy Place, which is a portico. 00:11:57.58\00:12:00.28 There was a portico. 00:12:00.32\00:12:01.65 And that was kind of a, sort of a open entryway porch. 00:12:01.68\00:12:07.66 Three doors are labeled there. 00:12:07.69\00:12:10.56 And what it says is that the first door leading to the 00:12:10.59\00:12:15.63 portico was called the door of life. 00:12:15.70\00:12:18.20 Then the second, leading to the Holy Place, 00:12:18.23\00:12:21.64 was called the door of truth. 00:12:21.67\00:12:24.74 And the third door to the Holy of Holies, 00:12:24.77\00:12:28.64 was labeled the door called the way. 00:12:28.68\00:12:31.78 So there was the life, the truth, and the way. 00:12:31.81\00:12:37.15 Do you remember who is the way, the truth, and the life? 00:12:37.19\00:12:41.39 We'll get to that in a moment. 00:12:41.42\00:12:42.76 But gazing on this glorious temple, Jesus said in 00:12:42.79\00:12:47.46 Matthew 24:2, Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall 00:12:47.50\00:12:55.64 be left upon another. 00:12:55.70\00:12:57.31 Everything will be cast down, He said. 00:12:57.34\00:13:00.61 And true to His prophecy, Roman legions ransacked this temple 00:13:00.64\00:13:06.55 in A.D. 70. It was utterly destroyed, 00:13:06.58\00:13:10.19 and it was never rebuilt. 00:13:10.22\00:13:12.05 In fact, I've been to Israel, and the summit of Mount Moriah, 00:13:12.09\00:13:16.52 where the temple once stood, is now occupied by a 00:13:16.56\00:13:20.90 Mohammadan Mosque, the famous Dome of the Rock. 00:13:20.93\00:13:25.43 There is no need for an earthly edifice to serve 00:13:25.47\00:13:29.34 as God's temple now. 00:13:29.37\00:13:30.71 The sacrificial system of the old covenant came to an end 00:13:30.74\00:13:34.74 on the day Jesus offered Himself up once for all. 00:13:34.78\00:13:38.18 When Jesus died the ultimate sacrifice was made 00:13:38.21\00:13:42.92 to atone for the sins of humanity, 00:13:42.95\00:13:44.85 and Christ became our eternal High Priest. 00:13:44.89\00:13:49.72 All genuine believers become members of His royal priesthood. 00:13:49.76\00:13:55.03 God's throne of grace is in His heavenly temple. 00:13:55.06\00:13:59.27 And Revelation 11:19 says, Then the temple of God was opened 00:13:59.30\00:14:06.57 in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. 00:14:06.61\00:14:11.38 The earthly temple was merely a copy of the heavenly temple, 00:14:11.41\00:14:17.72 and it was made according to the pattern that God showed Moses 00:14:17.75\00:14:22.06 on Mount Sinai. But now, on earth, God's Spirit abides 00:14:22.09\00:14:28.23 in living temples; in Christ's disciples, in you and me. 00:14:28.26\00:14:33.90 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 says this: 00:14:33.94\00:14:39.37 What an amazing thought to think that we are the living temple 00:14:59.19\00:15:03.13 of the living God. 00:15:03.16\00:15:04.50 I submit that we also are a copy, made according to the 00:15:04.53\00:15:08.77 pattern shown on the Mount. 00:15:08.80\00:15:10.37 Not Mount Sinai, No, but the Mount of Calvary, 00:15:10.41\00:15:15.44 where our true pattern, Jesus Christ, revealed the summit 00:15:15.48\00:15:20.72 of self sacrificing love. 00:15:20.75\00:15:23.12 As He is, so must we be in this world. 00:15:23.15\00:15:27.82 God has no desire, and no need for any other earthly temple. 00:15:27.86\00:15:33.66 In fact, the book of Revelation discloses that at the end 00:15:33.70\00:15:36.77 of time, when the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, 00:15:36.80\00:15:40.34 descends from heaven to the recreated earth, there will be 00:15:40.37\00:15:44.24 no temple in it. Our almighty God, and His beautiful 00:15:44.27\00:15:50.31 sacrificed Son, are its temple. 00:15:50.35\00:15:52.68 In John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way, 00:15:52.71\00:15:59.29 the truth, and the life. 00:15:59.32\00:16:01.72 No one comes to the Father except through Me. 00:16:01.76\00:16:05.29 And He also said, in John 10:9, I am the door. 00:16:05.33\00:16:10.67 If anyone enters by Me, He will be saved. 00:16:10.70\00:16:15.87 Man labeled the three doors of Herod's temple the life, 00:16:15.90\00:16:20.91 that's the outer door; the truth, going into the 00:16:20.94\00:16:26.11 Holy Place; and the way, going into the Holy of Holies. 00:16:26.15\00:16:30.65 Only one door: Jesus Christ, is necessary to gain access 00:16:30.69\00:16:35.32 to God today. He is the way, the truth, and the life. 00:16:35.36\00:16:40.30 As we press into God's presence in His heavenly temple, 00:16:40.33\00:16:44.33 we enter in the name of Jesus, our door to life and truth. 00:16:44.37\00:16:50.87 He is the new and living way to approach our Holy God. 00:16:50.91\00:16:55.78 And when we intercede for others, we symbolically stand 00:16:55.81\00:17:02.32 in the Holy Place before the throne of our king, 00:17:02.35\00:17:06.49 and here we enter into an entirely different sphere of 00:17:06.52\00:17:12.46 prayer. We reach a higher plane; a place that is very near 00:17:12.49\00:17:18.87 the heart of Christ. 00:17:18.90\00:17:20.24 Christ became flesh that He might become our perfect 00:17:20.27\00:17:24.71 sacrifice, understand our every weakness, and sympathize with us 00:17:24.74\00:17:29.11 as our great intercessor before God. 00:17:29.14\00:17:32.55 Hebrews 4:15 says: 00:17:32.58\00:17:35.48 To offer us the gift of salvation Christ humbled Himself 00:17:48.30\00:17:54.57 even lower than the angels, and to a humiliating, agonizing 00:17:54.60\00:17:59.91 death on the cross. 00:17:59.94\00:18:01.34 You know my friend, Evangelist Kenneth Cox, 00:18:01.38\00:18:04.15 explains it this way. 00:18:04.18\00:18:05.51 I heard it once and I'll never forget it. 00:18:05.55\00:18:07.02 He said, in God's present order of created beings, 00:18:07.05\00:18:11.32 there are first of all angels, then man, then animals, 00:18:11.35\00:18:14.99 and finally insects. 00:18:15.02\00:18:16.76 He compares Christ's incarnation as a man 00:18:16.79\00:18:20.93 which is that there's angels, then there's man, so being a man 00:18:20.96\00:18:26.27 is a level lower than an angel. 00:18:26.30\00:18:28.74 So he compares though that Christ becoming a man was like 00:18:28.77\00:18:34.61 a human being becoming an insect. 00:18:34.64\00:18:38.61 Can you imagine, can you imagine loving an insect 00:18:38.65\00:18:43.15 so much that you would be willing to humble yourself 00:18:43.18\00:18:46.82 and become a bug just so that you could intercede for him? 00:18:46.86\00:18:53.83 Thank God, He doesn't ask us to. 00:18:53.86\00:18:56.16 He simply invites us to open our doors to the world's lost 00:18:56.20\00:19:01.20 and suffering souls. 00:19:01.24\00:19:02.80 To open our hearts, and to boldly fill them with prayer, 00:19:02.84\00:19:07.64 and to lift these people up before His throne of grace. 00:19:07.68\00:19:11.65 The word intercede means to plead for, or make petition 00:19:11.68\00:19:19.12 for another. The word perish describes someone who has a loss 00:19:19.15\00:19:24.66 of well being, or is in a state of ruin or destruction. 00:19:24.69\00:19:28.16 So I refer to intercessory prayer as pleading 00:19:28.20\00:19:32.50 for the perishing. 00:19:32.53\00:19:34.10 From the Bible the Greek word for intercession is enteuxis. 00:19:34.14\00:19:39.67 It is a technical term for approaching a king to meet 00:19:39.74\00:19:43.98 and converse with him by bringing a petition before him 00:19:44.01\00:19:48.25 to plead on someone's behalf. 00:19:48.28\00:19:50.29 As we are pressing more closely into His presence, 00:19:50.32\00:19:54.22 this portion of prayer represents acting as a 00:19:54.26\00:19:58.39 spokesperson for others in a hearing with the King of kings. 00:19:58.43\00:20:03.13 Let's look at two scripture passages that the apostle Paul 00:20:03.16\00:20:07.87 wrote to explain our duty to pray, not only for the saints, 00:20:07.90\00:20:13.48 but also for all of mankind. 00:20:13.51\00:20:17.45 Let's look at Ephesians 6:17, 18. Paul says: 00:20:17.48\00:20:26.62 So here's Paul saying, pray for everyone, all the saints, 00:20:44.61\00:20:48.31 all your brothers and sisters in Christ. 00:20:48.34\00:20:50.35 But then in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 Paul says to Timothy: 00:20:50.38\00:20:57.69 For whom? for all men, not just for your brothers and sisters 00:21:06.16\00:21:10.27 in Christ, but intercede on behalf of all men,... 00:21:10.30\00:21:13.50 In assurance of salvation, and armed with the sword 00:21:28.75\00:21:34.22 of the Spirit, we are to pray especially for our brothers 00:21:34.29\00:21:38.39 and sisters in Christ. 00:21:38.43\00:21:40.46 Still, Paul's exhortation to Timothy applies to us. 00:21:40.50\00:21:44.53 We're not to limit our prayers only to fellow Christians, 00:21:44.57\00:21:48.70 but we should pray for all, even men of authority. 00:21:48.74\00:21:53.17 And if you stop for just one second and think about this, 00:21:53.21\00:21:57.55 Nero, the heathen enemy who persecuted Christians, 00:21:57.58\00:22:02.38 who killed so many, he was in office at the time that Paul 00:22:02.42\00:22:07.36 wrote this instruction in 1 Timothy. 00:22:07.39\00:22:09.59 That makes it even more stunning. 00:22:09.62\00:22:11.73 Paul was saying, pray for Nero, your enemy. 00:22:11.76\00:22:14.66 Obviously, we don't have to agree with a persons political 00:22:14.73\00:22:18.97 undertakings, or even approve of his moral standards, 00:22:19.00\00:22:22.34 to pray for him. Why pray for all? 00:22:22.37\00:22:25.47 The Bible says there's only one reason. 00:22:25.51\00:22:28.24 The God of all mankind, and one mediator, Christ Jesus, 00:22:28.28\00:22:32.41 who died for all, and that our God, our Savior, 00:22:32.45\00:22:37.02 desires all men to be saved, and come to the 00:22:37.05\00:22:41.59 knowledge of the truth. 00:22:41.62\00:22:42.96 Paul had the same heart for the lost. 00:22:42.99\00:22:46.03 He held intercessors in high esteem. 00:22:46.06\00:22:50.03 Referring to one disciple named Epaphras, who interceded on 00:22:50.07\00:22:57.21 behalf of others, he called him our dear servant, 00:22:57.24\00:23:01.54 our dear fellow servant, and he's called him a faithful 00:23:01.58\00:23:06.11 minister of Christ. 00:23:06.15\00:23:07.92 And here in Colossians 4:12, 13, this is what 00:23:07.95\00:23:14.62 he wrote about Epaphras. He said: 00:23:15.66\00:23:19.29 Epaphras labored in prayer with the same 00:23:44.82\00:23:49.79 intensity as Elijah did. 00:23:49.82\00:23:52.19 And the results of such prayer are powerful, 00:23:52.23\00:23:56.46 as James 5:16, 17 promises. 00:23:56.50\00:24:01.07 Here James writes: 00:24:01.10\00:24:09.01 And, by the way, don't worry thinking, 00:24:09.04\00:24:11.11 Well, I'm not righteous. 00:24:11.15\00:24:12.48 If you're in Christ, that righteousness has been credited 00:24:12.51\00:24:15.78 to you. It's righteousness by faith. 00:24:15.82\00:24:19.52 And then James goes on to say: 00:24:19.55\00:24:21.76 Elijah prayed earnestly. 00:24:34.10\00:24:40.38 If you look at the literal translation of that it says, 00:24:40.41\00:24:45.05 He prayed with prayer, or in praying he prayed. 00:24:45.08\00:24:50.95 Epaphras was always laboring fervently, meaning to strive 00:24:50.99\00:24:58.33 as in the agony of a contest. 00:24:58.36\00:25:01.30 In other words, there was nothing casual about their 00:25:01.33\00:25:06.10 coming before the Lord. 00:25:06.13\00:25:07.47 These men who prayed with the great energy supplied by the 00:25:07.50\00:25:13.17 Holy Spirit, are examples for us in intercession. 00:25:13.21\00:25:18.35 Theirs were not cold, lifeless, faithless prayers. 00:25:18.38\00:25:24.69 It was not their eloquence, or fervor in which they trusted, 00:25:24.72\00:25:30.19 it was God. The prayers of the righteous have great efficacy. 00:25:30.23\00:25:35.63 They are powerful and productive. 00:25:35.66\00:25:39.50 Psalm 33:22 indicates that God's mercy, and His loving kindness 00:25:39.53\00:25:47.81 are poured out in proportion to our waiting, and our hoping 00:25:47.84\00:25:54.75 in Him. Prayer is the key given by God to man, to open and shut 00:25:54.78\00:26:01.72 the blessings of heaven. 00:26:01.76\00:26:04.06 We are to do what is within our power to help mankind, 00:26:04.09\00:26:09.80 and to become a praying people; people who present others' 00:26:09.83\00:26:15.80 needs before God's throne. 00:26:15.87\00:26:18.17 Christ's entire earthly ministry was spent interceding 00:26:18.21\00:26:23.08 for others, either by action, or by prayer. 00:26:23.11\00:26:26.48 And He calls us to walk in His footsteps. 00:26:26.51\00:26:30.45 So remember, this is just the first part. 00:26:30.49\00:26:34.36 I'm going to review real quick our role as intercessors. 00:26:34.42\00:26:38.16 It is part of God's plan to bring blessings from heaven. 00:26:38.19\00:26:42.03 Now next program we are going to see how this really happens, 00:26:42.06\00:26:48.67 and remember that we were created to be co-intercessors 00:26:48.70\00:26:52.81 with Christ. Intercessory prayer we will be considering 00:26:52.84\00:26:57.25 why it is the highest calling to ministry. 00:26:57.28\00:27:00.95 And remember that we are conformed to the image of Christ 00:27:00.98\00:27:04.22 through intercessory prayer. 00:27:04.25\00:27:06.65 It is our duty as Christians. 00:27:06.69\00:27:09.02 And we'll also look in a later program how neglecting the call 00:27:09.06\00:27:14.73 to intercession could be the chief reason that God's work 00:27:14.73\00:27:19.70 on earth isn't finished. 00:27:19.73\00:27:21.10 And then, finally, the reason we want to consider this as well, 00:27:21.14\00:27:29.71 is that intercessors are doubly blessed. 00:27:29.74\00:27:34.32 So we hope... We're so glad that you've joined us today. 00:27:34.35\00:27:37.89 That you for sharing this time. 00:27:37.92\00:27:39.55 We hope this program is meaningful to you, and that God 00:27:39.59\00:27:44.49 is showing you a way to pray deeper. 00:27:44.53\00:27:48.03 But we also hope that you will join us next time as we consider 00:27:48.06\00:27:52.20 how prayer can bring God's blessings down 00:27:52.23\00:27:56.04 to earth for others. 00:27:56.07\00:27:57.67 And our continuous prayer for you is that the grace of our 00:27:57.71\00:28:02.08 Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the love of the Father, 00:28:02.11\00:28:05.35 and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit will be with you always. 00:28:05.38\00:28:09.92
