Hello and welcome back to Praise I'm Kelly Mowrer 00:00:21.05\00:00:24.07 Sometimes in my personal worship I like to open the Bible and put 00:00:24.11\00:00:28.38 it on the piano and sit there and play quietly while I read 00:00:28.41\00:00:30.95 the very word of God. I thought today together we would try that 00:00:30.99\00:00:34.84 same thing looking at particularly passages of 00:00:34.87\00:00:38.59 scripture in music on the topic of God's great love for us. 00:00:38.63\00:00:43.26 In Isaiah 53, the prophet wrote, All we like sheep have gone 00:00:43.29\00:00:47.85 astray; we have turned every one to his own way and the Lord hath 00:00:47.89\00:00:52.54 laid on him the iniquity of us all. Surely he hath born our 00:00:52.57\00:00:57.47 griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we did esteem him stricken, 00:00:57.50\00:01:02.37 smitten of God and afflicted, but he was wounded for our 00:01:02.40\00:01:06.44 transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities. 00:01:06.47\00:01:09.95 The chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his 00:01:09.99\00:01:15.76 stripes we are healed. 00:01:15.79\00:01:18.57 Scars Rudy Mecilli 00:01:18.60\00:01:21.31 I have dreamed to see Christ face to face. 00:01:21.35\00:01:29.15 I have longed to hear his tender voice, 00:01:29.18\00:01:36.95 Of the story of his love for me. 00:01:36.99\00:01:44.09 I will want to ask him tenderly 00:01:44.12\00:01:51.17 Tell me what scars are these 00:01:51.21\00:01:58.23 In your feet and hands 00:01:58.26\00:02:00.74 Tell me what scars are these 00:02:00.78\00:02:04.49 In your face. 00:02:04.53\00:02:07.50 These are wounds with which I have been wounded 00:02:07.54\00:02:15.20 In the house of friends of mine. 00:02:15.23\00:02:20.18 Tell me what scars are these 00:02:20.22\00:02:25.13 in your feet and hands? 00:02:25.17\00:02:28.72 Tell me what scars 00:02:28.75\00:02:30.94 are these in your face? 00:02:30.98\00:02:34.84 He will say, These are 00:02:34.88\00:02:39.20 the marks that tell you 00:02:39.24\00:02:43.49 That I have loved you endlessly. 00:02:43.53\00:02:53.63 ¤ ¤ 00:02:53.67\00:03:04.24 When I think of all my Lord went through, 00:03:04.27\00:03:12.76 Bitter suffering on that rugged cross 00:03:12.80\00:03:20.43 On that day when I get on that shore. 00:03:20.47\00:03:28.48 I will want to ask him more and more. 00:03:28.52\00:03:36.50 Tell me what scars are these 00:03:36.53\00:03:39.84 In your feet and hands? 00:03:39.88\00:03:42.21 Tell me what scars are 00:03:42.25\00:03:45.59 these in your face? 00:03:45.62\00:03:48.67 These are wounds with which 00:03:48.70\00:03:52.15 I have been wounded 00:03:52.18\00:03:55.56 In the house of friends of mine. 00:03:55.59\00:04:00.60 Tell me what scars are these 00:04:00.64\00:04:05.61 in your feet and hands? 00:04:05.64\00:04:08.42 Tell me what scars are 00:04:08.46\00:04:12.45 these in your face? 00:04:12.48\00:04:16.40 He will say these are the marks 00:04:16.44\00:04:19.99 that tell you 00:04:20.03\00:04:22.62 that I have loved you endlessly. 00:04:22.65\00:04:34.55 I'll always love you endlessly. 00:04:34.59\00:04:44.98 Oooo. 00:04:45.01\00:05:00.20 Paul writes in Romans 5, Therefore being justified by 00:05:00.23\00:05:05.89 faith we have peace with God through our Lord Christ Jesus. 00:05:05.93\00:05:10.28 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ 00:05:10.32\00:05:14.57 died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man 00:05:14.60\00:05:18.79 will one die, yet peradventure for a good man some would even 00:05:18.82\00:05:24.21 dare to die. But God commended his love toward us in that while 00:05:24.25\00:05:29.61 we were yet sinners Christ died for us. 00:05:29.64\00:05:32.93 The Old Rugged Cross Daniel Hall 00:05:32.96\00:05:34.73 On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, 00:05:34.76\00:05:42.87 The emblem of suffering 00:05:42.91\00:05:48.06 and shame. 00:05:48.09\00:05:51.53 And I love that old cross 00:05:51.56\00:05:56.71 Where the dearest and best 00:05:56.74\00:06:01.85 for a world of lost 00:06:01.89\00:06:06.77 sinners was slain. 00:06:06.81\00:06:11.00 So I'll cherish the 00:06:11.03\00:06:16.53 old rugged cross, 00:06:16.56\00:06:22.64 Till my trophies 00:06:22.67\00:06:26.36 at last I lay down. 00:06:26.39\00:06:30.00 I will cling to the old rugged cross 00:06:30.04\00:06:40.95 And exchange it someday for a crown. 00:06:40.98\00:06:51.82 To the old rugged cross I will ever be true 00:06:51.86\00:07:04.01 It's shame and reproach gladly bear. 00:07:04.04\00:07:12.61 Then He'll call me someday to my home far away. 00:07:12.65\00:07:23.38 Where his glory 00:07:23.42\00:07:31.13 forever I'll share. 00:07:31.16\00:07:38.80 So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, 00:07:38.84\00:07:47.68 Till my trophies at last I lay down. 00:07:47.72\00:07:56.53 I will cling to the 00:07:56.56\00:08:01.21 old rugged cross 00:08:01.25\00:08:05.83 and exchange it someday 00:08:05.87\00:08:11.36 for a crown. 00:08:11.39\00:08:16.16 And exchange it someday for a crown. 00:08:16.19\00:08:36.45 A crown. 00:08:36.48\00:08:49.23 In Psalm 103 we read, The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow 00:08:49.27\00:08:56.18 to anger and plenteous in mercy. He hath not dealt with us after 00:08:56.22\00:09:03.10 our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 00:09:03.14\00:09:06.32 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy 00:09:06.36\00:09:10.89 toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west 00:09:10.92\00:09:15.78 so far hath he removed our transgressions from us and like 00:09:15.82\00:09:20.50 as a father pities his children so the Lord pitieth them that 00:09:20.54\00:09:25.12 fear him, for he knoweth our frame, he remembers that we are 00:09:25.16\00:09:29.71 dust. Listen to these beautiful words 00:09:29.74\00:09:31.92 in Micah 7 verses 18 and 19. Who is a God like unto thee that 00:09:31.96\00:09:36.50 pardons iniquity and passes by the transgression of the remnant 00:09:36.54\00:09:41.05 of his heritage. He retaineth not his anger forever 00:09:41.09\00:09:44.12 because he delights in mercy. He will turn again and he will 00:09:44.16\00:09:48.89 have compassion upon us. He will subdue our iniquities and I will 00:09:48.92\00:09:53.02 cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. 00:09:53.05\00:09:56.48 It's so easy to say I forgive you 00:10:00.06\00:10:03.50 But forgetting is the hardest thing to do. 00:10:03.53\00:10:12.88 Though my mind can't comprehend 00:10:12.92\00:10:18.26 that he could be that 00:10:18.30\00:10:20.80 kind of friend 00:10:20.84\00:10:23.48 On the cross he took my place 00:10:23.51\00:10:27.83 So my sin he could erase. 00:10:27.87\00:10:33.23 He forgives and forgets 00:10:33.26\00:10:38.70 I stand before him holy. 00:10:38.73\00:10:44.10 He cancelled my debts That day at Calvary. 00:10:44.13\00:10:52.62 Now I'm justified, just as if I never sinned, 00:10:52.66\00:11:01.08 And yet, he not only forgives, He forgives and forgets. 00:11:01.12\00:11:12.83 The mercies of the Lord are everlasting 00:11:12.86\00:11:18.75 He forgives my sins and remembers them no more. 00:11:18.78\00:11:28.36 Though it's hard for me to guess 00:11:28.40\00:11:32.85 How far the east is from the west 00:11:32.89\00:11:37.30 On the cross he took my place 00:11:37.34\00:11:42.71 so my sins he could erase. 00:11:42.74\00:11:48.04 He forgives and forgets. It is Christ 00:24:47.69\00:24:51.91 that died, yea, rather that is risen again, who is even at the 00:24:51.95\00:24:56.14 right hand of God who also maketh intercession for us. 00:24:56.17\00:25:00.81 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? 00:25:00.84\00:25:03.42 Shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or 00:25:03.45\00:25:08.85 nakedness or peril or sword?
