Sometimes in our
selfish and sinful hearts,

we might be tempted to think
that these verses somehow mean

that if we do enough good
things that are pleasing to God.

He'll give us
everything that we most want,

the desires of our heart.

But what I
think these verses are

really trying to teach us,

is that when we
find our source of joy

comes from our
friendship with God

automatically every longing
in our heart is satisfied

and every desire is fulfilled.

The story is told
of a happy Christian

who met an Irish peddler
one day and he said to him,

it is a grand thing to be saved.
