All right, good morning. 00:01:01.76\00:01:04.32 Did you have a good sleep? 00:01:04.35\00:01:07.03 You didn't? 00:01:07.06\00:01:10.46 It's a blessing to be here. 00:01:10.49\00:01:13.53 You guys enjoy the message this morning? 00:01:13.56\00:01:15.98 Amen. 00:01:16.01\00:01:17.36 We're gonna save time and get straight into the message. 00:01:17.39\00:01:19.54 The message I'm gonna share this morning is entitled 00:01:19.57\00:01:22.34 "Think Higher, Reach Higher, Achieve Higher." 00:01:22.37\00:01:26.16 Think Higher, Reach Higher, Achieve Higher. 00:01:26.19\00:01:30.22 Before we begin, just invite you to please, 00:01:30.25\00:01:32.32 if you don't have a Bible, get a Bible if you can. 00:01:32.35\00:01:36.19 Bible, smartphone, sit next to someone who has a Bible 00:01:36.22\00:01:39.68 because we'll be reading on, study the Bible today. 00:01:39.71\00:01:42.21 So bow your heads with me, 00:01:42.24\00:01:43.38 as we pray and we get straight into the message. 00:01:43.41\00:01:45.86 Let's bow heads. 00:01:45.89\00:01:47.97 Our Father in heaven, 00:01:48.00\00:01:49.05 we just thank You for another day. 00:01:49.08\00:01:51.36 Lord, we thank You for just bringing us here safely. 00:01:51.39\00:01:53.91 We just want to pray, 00:01:53.94\00:01:55.69 the prayer of David 00:01:55.72\00:01:58.02 "Open thou mine eyes, 00:01:58.05\00:01:59.47 that I might behold wondrous things 00:01:59.50\00:02:01.65 out of thy law." 00:02:01.68\00:02:03.19 May Your Holy Spirit be our guide 00:02:03.22\00:02:05.09 and may You teach us from Your Word, 00:02:05.12\00:02:06.77 we pray this in Jesus name, that we all say, amen. 00:02:06.80\00:02:10.30 Now the concept of this chapter has been taken from Evangelism 00:02:10.33\00:02:13.91 is the chapter entitled 00:02:13.94\00:02:15.69 Maintaining High Moral Standards. 00:02:15.72\00:02:17.92 But we gonna begin in 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20. 00:02:17.95\00:02:23.84 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 and I want you guys to say, 00:02:23.87\00:02:29.21 amen or amen when you get there. 00:02:29.24\00:02:31.65 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20. 00:02:31.68\00:02:37.67 Amen? Amen. 00:02:37.70\00:02:39.95 The Bible says there, Paul here speaking, 00:02:39.98\00:02:42.30 he says "What? Know ye not" 00:02:42.33\00:02:46.26 I will just wait for you guys to get down there. 00:02:46.29\00:02:47.63 Few people can still hear the pages flicking. 00:02:47.66\00:02:50.94 1 Corinthians 6:19 we there? 00:02:50.97\00:02:53.92 Amen. 00:02:53.95\00:02:55.25 Bible says in verse 19 00:02:55.28\00:02:56.64 "What? Know ye not that your body is" a what? 00:02:56.67\00:03:00.99 "Is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, 00:03:01.02\00:03:03.68 which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" 00:03:03.71\00:03:08.14 If we are not Your own you belong to someone else. 00:03:08.17\00:03:12.01 Now that someone else in verse 20 the Bible says, 00:03:12.04\00:03:14.93 what is the Bible say in verse 20? 00:03:14.96\00:03:16.50 "For ye are bought with a price, 00:03:16.53\00:03:19.95 therefore glorify" who? 00:03:19.98\00:03:22.66 "God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." 00:03:22.69\00:03:27.68 So if we are not our own from verse 20, who are we? 00:03:27.71\00:03:31.21 We are God's. 00:03:31.24\00:03:33.30 We are His position. 00:03:33.33\00:03:34.57 But why are we His position? 00:03:34.60\00:03:36.20 Because He brought us with a price. 00:03:36.23\00:03:40.75 Listen to the language again, verse 20 listen to the verse, 00:03:40.78\00:03:43.83 "For ye are" what? 00:03:43.86\00:03:45.34 "Bought with a price," 00:03:45.37\00:03:47.26 what's the very next word? 00:03:47.29\00:03:49.12 "Therefore" what is that mean? 00:03:49.15\00:03:51.45 Now that you are brought with a price 00:03:51.48\00:03:53.38 "therefore ye are to glorify" who? "God." 00:03:53.41\00:03:57.87 So based on this principle, based on the fact 00:03:57.90\00:04:00.56 that you and I are bought with a price, 00:04:00.59\00:04:04.21 this is one of the great reasons 00:04:04.24\00:04:05.73 why we are called to glorify God. 00:04:05.77\00:04:08.06 Are we following? 00:04:08.09\00:04:09.82 Listen to the verse again "For ye are bought with a price," 00:04:09.85\00:04:12.45 what's the next word? 00:04:12.48\00:04:13.61 "Therefore" what's therefore? 00:04:13.64\00:04:15.12 Because we are bought with price, do what? 00:04:15.15\00:04:17.68 "Glorify God." 00:04:17.71\00:04:19.78 So a call to glorify God is base on this fact 00:04:19.81\00:04:23.39 that ye are bought with the price. 00:04:23.42\00:04:25.98 Amen. 00:04:26.01\00:04:27.06 Now my next question is 00:04:27.09\00:04:28.82 what kind of price were we bought with? 00:04:28.85\00:04:32.12 Go to 1 Peter 1:18. 1 Peter 1:18, 19 00:04:32.15\00:04:38.79 the message is "Think Higher, Reach Higher, Achieve Higher." 00:04:38.82\00:04:45.34 So the first message we learn 00:04:45.37\00:04:47.04 is that a call to glorify God is based on the fact 00:04:47.07\00:04:50.46 that we are bought with a price 00:04:50.49\00:04:53.04 Amen? Amen. 00:04:53.07\00:04:55.13 Now the next question is what kind of price 00:04:55.16\00:04:57.95 were we bought with or redeemed with? 00:04:57.98\00:05:00.21 1 Peter 1:18, 19, say amen when you there. Amen. 00:05:00.24\00:05:04.25 We're studying-- amen, 00:05:04.28\00:05:06.23 we're studying this is not sermonizing, we are studying. 00:05:06.26\00:05:09.23 1 Peter 1:18, notice what the Bible says 00:05:09.26\00:05:12.52 "Forasmuch as ye were not redeemed 00:05:12.55\00:05:14.70 with" what kind of things? "Corruptible things," as what? 00:05:14.73\00:05:18.40 "Silver and gold." 00:05:18.43\00:05:19.47 So what does Paul call corruptible in this verse? 00:05:19.50\00:05:23.06 "Silver and gold, 00:05:23.09\00:05:25.47 from your vain conversation 00:05:25.50\00:05:27.13 received by tradition from your fathers." 00:05:27.16\00:05:30.20 So Paul is speaking about how we were re-- 00:05:30.23\00:05:34.09 sorry this passage sorry is talking about 00:05:34.12\00:05:35.90 how we were redeemed 00:05:35.93\00:05:38.39 and or the cost or the price of which we were redeemed. 00:05:38.42\00:05:42.19 Anyway we've been told that we were redeemed 00:05:42.22\00:05:44.18 what something not corruptible, 00:05:44.21\00:05:45.93 but what were we redeemed with? Read verse 19, are we there? 00:05:45.96\00:05:49.97 Verse 19 "But with the precious" what? 00:05:50.00\00:05:53.97 "Blood of" who? "Christ, 00:05:54.00\00:05:55.97 as of a lamb without blemish, without spot." 00:05:56.00\00:06:00.28 So we are told that the price we are redeemed with 00:06:00.31\00:06:03.36 was something more precious thing gold or what? Silver. 00:06:03.39\00:06:07.37 And what was that thing that we were bought with? 00:06:07.40\00:06:09.57 The precious blood of who? Christ. 00:06:09.60\00:06:12.09 So not only were we bought with the price 00:06:12.12\00:06:14.05 and therefore call to glorify God, 00:06:14.08\00:06:16.28 but the kind of price we are bought with 00:06:16.31\00:06:19.20 was the price of blood of Christ Himself, 00:06:19.23\00:06:22.30 an infinite price. 00:06:22.33\00:06:24.28 Now you might think to yourself, 00:06:24.31\00:06:25.50 what does this have to do with high moral standards? 00:06:25.53\00:06:29.46 Go to Isaiah Chapter 13, Isaiah 13:12, 00:06:29.49\00:06:34.32 we are bought with a price therefore we must glorify God 00:06:34.35\00:06:37.90 but the kind of price that we are bought with 00:06:37.93\00:06:40.47 is a price which is more precious than what? 00:06:40.50\00:06:43.72 Gold or silver. 00:06:43.75\00:06:45.80 Now there's something we learn about the price 00:06:45.83\00:06:49.07 that we will purchase with that helps us to understand 00:06:49.10\00:06:52.70 the kind of potential that we have as people. 00:06:52.73\00:06:56.81 As you go there I want to hear this quotation, 00:06:56.84\00:06:58.77 Great Controversy, page 598 paragraph 1, 00:06:58.80\00:07:01.82 this is why we are studying. 00:07:01.85\00:07:03.31 It says " It is not enough to have good intentions, 00:07:03.34\00:07:05.88 it is not enough to do what a man thinks is right 00:07:05.91\00:07:08.60 or what the" listen carefully 00:07:08.63\00:07:10.14 "or what the minister tells him is right. 00:07:10.17\00:07:13.12 His earned soul's salvation is at stake, 00:07:13.15\00:07:16.42 and he should search the Scriptures for himself." 00:07:16.45\00:07:19.28 Listen to the next part 00:07:19.31\00:07:20.34 "However strong your convictions may be, 00:07:20.37\00:07:22.98 however confident you may be 00:07:23.01\00:07:25.49 that the minister knows what is right, 00:07:25.52\00:07:27.60 that is not your foundation." 00:07:27.63\00:07:29.99 So as much as we here as witness 00:07:30.02\00:07:31.75 and there are ministers and leaders 00:07:31.78\00:07:33.48 and preachers, preaching 00:07:33.51\00:07:34.92 don't leave this place quoting the minister. 00:07:34.95\00:07:38.43 That's why we're doing what? Studying. 00:07:38.46\00:07:41.46 We don't want to become a reflector 00:07:41.49\00:07:43.52 of another man's thoughts. 00:07:43.55\00:07:45.07 We want to reflect what who says? 00:07:45.10\00:07:47.10 God says, amen. 00:07:47.13\00:07:48.16 So this is why we trying to study 00:07:48.19\00:07:50.01 and we are not trying to sermonize. 00:07:50.04\00:07:51.41 But when Isaiah 13 00:07:51.44\00:07:52.74 and I want you to come and let us reason together, 00:07:52.77\00:07:58.00 so we are reasoning this morning. 00:07:58.03\00:07:59.79 And the next point we're gonna reason from is Isaiah 13. 00:07:59.82\00:08:02.45 Are we there? Isaiah 13:12. 00:08:02.48\00:08:06.65 Notice what God has in mind, 00:08:06.68\00:08:09.40 what kind of potential He has for humanity. 00:08:09.43\00:08:13.29 Isaiah Chapter 13, the context is dealing with 00:08:13.32\00:08:16.49 Isaiah seen an prophetic vision their last days. 00:08:16.52\00:08:19.99 You read in verse 11 he says 00:08:20.02\00:08:22.66 "I will punish the world for their evil," 00:08:22.69\00:08:25.34 and this is taking about their great day of the Lord. 00:08:25.37\00:08:27.69 But notice God's desire for mankind in the last days. 00:08:27.72\00:08:32.80 Verse 12, are we there? 00:08:32.83\00:08:34.60 Listen to the language. 00:08:34.63\00:08:36.48 "I will make a man" what? 00:08:36.51\00:08:38.98 "More precious than" what? 00:08:39.01\00:08:40.93 "Fine gold," stop there. 00:08:40.96\00:08:42.53 What kind of price were we bought with? 00:08:42.56\00:08:44.70 A price more precious than what? Gold. 00:08:44.73\00:08:48.25 But we also now see that God's desire 00:08:48.28\00:08:50.87 is to make us more precious than what? 00:08:50.90\00:08:53.68 Fine gold. 00:08:53.71\00:08:54.89 Read the next part. 00:08:54.92\00:08:56.11 "Even a man than the golden wedge of" what? "Ophir." 00:08:56.14\00:09:00.70 Now do you notice a similarity? 00:09:00.73\00:09:03.19 The price paid was more precious than what? Gold. 00:09:03.22\00:09:08.87 But the potential or the desire of God's 00:09:08.90\00:09:11.52 are to mold us is also what? To be what? 00:09:11.55\00:09:16.76 More precious than? Are we reasoning? 00:09:16.79\00:09:21.64 What did the-- listen to the verse again? 00:09:21.67\00:09:23.79 Isaiah 13:12 "I will" what? 00:09:23.82\00:09:26.80 "Make" what does that mean? 00:09:26.83\00:09:29.25 Create, mold, 2 Corinthians 5:17 00:09:29.28\00:09:32.51 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, 00:09:32.54\00:09:34.55 he is a new creature." 00:09:34.58\00:09:36.82 God wants to recreate us. 00:09:36.85\00:09:38.88 Now reason with me. 00:09:38.91\00:09:40.18 I will create or make a man how? 00:09:40.21\00:09:42.83 More precious than what? Fine gold, 00:09:42.86\00:09:46.38 but when we were bought, 00:09:46.41\00:09:47.68 we were bought also with a price which is also what? 00:09:47.71\00:09:51.89 More precious than fine gold. 00:09:51.92\00:09:54.07 So listen to me carefully, reason. 00:09:54.10\00:09:56.91 From understanding the price paid for the purchase, 00:09:56.94\00:10:01.01 we understand the potential of that purpose. 00:10:01.04\00:10:06.65 You look like you're not following. 00:10:06.68\00:10:08.59 The price-- listen to me carefully, 00:10:08.62\00:10:09.97 what was the price? More precious than gold. 00:10:10.00\00:10:12.67 What's God's desire for man? 00:10:12.70\00:10:14.71 To be more precious than gold. 00:10:14.74\00:10:16.86 So the price of the purchase 00:10:16.89\00:10:19.31 reflects the potential of that purpose. 00:10:19.34\00:10:24.80 Amen. 00:10:24.83\00:10:27.23 Listen to this quotation, 00:10:27.26\00:10:29.31 Gospel Workers page 291 paragraph 2 00:10:29.34\00:10:32.41 Ellen White writes this 00:10:32.44\00:10:34.30 "Many who are qualified to do an excellent work 00:10:34.33\00:10:37.89 do not become what they might because they attempt little." 00:10:37.92\00:10:44.05 Let me say it again. 00:10:44.08\00:10:45.53 "Many who are qualified to actually 00:10:45.56\00:10:47.28 to do an excellent work, 00:10:47.31\00:10:48.88 accomplish little because they attempt a little. 00:10:48.91\00:10:53.45 Thousands pass through life 00:10:53.48\00:10:55.04 as if they have no great object for which to live, 00:10:55.07\00:10:59.31 no high standard to reach. 00:10:59.34\00:11:02.63 One reason of this" listen carefully 00:11:02.66\00:11:05.24 "is the low estimate they place upon themselves." 00:11:05.27\00:11:12.27 So because individuals look at themselves 00:11:12.30\00:11:15.13 as been of low value 00:11:15.16\00:11:16.81 therefore they see themselves of been low potential 00:11:16.84\00:11:19.82 and they see themselves have been low possibilities. 00:11:19.85\00:11:22.86 And low possibilities means you put forth low effort. 00:11:22.89\00:11:26.84 And if you put forth low effort and you attempt little 00:11:26.87\00:11:29.77 what do you achieve? Little. 00:11:29.80\00:11:32.31 So the value of Christ dying for us on Calvary 00:11:32.34\00:11:35.82 gives us an estimate of our lives 00:11:35.85\00:11:38.73 and it shows us not only our estimate 00:11:38.76\00:11:40.83 but our potential in Christ. 00:11:40.86\00:11:43.15 And if we see that we were bought with a high what? Price. 00:11:43.18\00:11:47.09 We also have high what? Potential. 00:11:47.12\00:11:51.67 And many because we do not see our high price 00:11:51.70\00:11:54.54 we attempt a little. 00:11:54.57\00:11:56.79 If you do not understand, 00:11:56.82\00:11:58.08 if we don't understand the high value God has on our lives 00:11:58.11\00:12:02.22 we will fail to understand the high what? Potential. 00:12:02.25\00:12:07.11 Listen to the rest of the quote, 00:12:07.14\00:12:08.98 "Christ paid an infinite price for us," 00:12:09.01\00:12:11.90 what kind of price? An infinite price, 00:12:11.93\00:12:14.49 but remember the price of the purchase reflects what? 00:12:14.52\00:12:18.22 The potential of that purchase. 00:12:18.25\00:12:21.15 So when Christ paid an infinite price 00:12:21.18\00:12:23.56 what kind of potential would you think Christ has in us 00:12:23.59\00:12:26.19 if we are in Him? Infinite. 00:12:26.22\00:12:28.91 Listen to the quote, "Christ paid an infinite price for us, 00:12:28.94\00:12:33.16 and according to the price paid 00:12:33.19\00:12:36.91 He desires us to value ourselves." 00:12:36.94\00:12:41.46 So Christ pays a price more precious than fine gold 00:12:41.49\00:12:44.67 and at the same time He says that price I paid 00:12:44.70\00:12:47.59 reflects what I want to do with you. 00:12:47.62\00:12:51.30 Are you following? 00:12:51.33\00:12:52.97 You can make me get excite about myself. 00:12:53.00\00:12:56.18 I will make a man more what? Precious than fine gold. 00:12:56.21\00:13:00.70 What's the-- what's point number one? 00:13:00.73\00:13:01.97 Point number one is this, 00:13:02.00\00:13:03.40 the high price of the purchase of Christ 00:13:03.43\00:13:06.84 reflects the high potential of that thing He purchased. 00:13:06.87\00:13:11.13 Which is who? Us. 00:13:11.16\00:13:12.74 We are talking about high standards. 00:13:12.77\00:13:15.23 One of the first things we find 00:13:15.26\00:13:16.52 that leans us to understand high standards 00:13:16.55\00:13:18.87 is because Christ paid a high price 00:13:18.90\00:13:21.12 and therefore we have high potential in Him. 00:13:21.15\00:13:25.83 Are you following? Amen. 00:13:25.86\00:13:27.84 Now my next question is this. 00:13:27.87\00:13:30.23 Once we recognize that we have high potential in Christ, 00:13:30.26\00:13:33.52 what does that do to us? 00:13:33.55\00:13:35.33 Go to Philippians 3:13, 14. 00:13:35.36\00:13:40.26 Philippians 3:13, 14, Philippians 3:13, 14. 00:13:40.29\00:13:45.95 Please think and reason with us. 00:13:45.98\00:13:49.03 The last-- 00:13:49.06\00:13:50.36 the most tragic thing that could happen 00:13:50.39\00:13:52.18 is that we come this whole weekend 00:13:52.21\00:13:53.64 and we hear a whole bunch of great sermons and messages 00:13:53.67\00:13:57.31 but we haven't been thinking. 00:13:57.34\00:13:59.20 And we leave here reflecting what our favorite pastor said 00:13:59.23\00:14:02.56 or favorite preacher 00:14:02.59\00:14:04.34 not knowing what the Bible says. 00:14:04.37\00:14:06.26 So this is why we must study to show ourselves 00:14:06.29\00:14:08.89 approved unto God, 00:14:08.92\00:14:10.10 workmen and workwomen that do not need to be ashamed. 00:14:10.13\00:14:13.63 Rightly dividing the word of truth. 00:14:13.66\00:14:15.62 But in order to do that we must reason and think. 00:14:15.65\00:14:20.47 So we're reasoning this morning, is that okay? Amen. 00:14:20.50\00:14:24.16 Philippians 3 are we there? 00:14:24.19\00:14:26.43 Philippians 3:13. 00:14:26.46\00:14:28.64 Point one, the high price of the purchase of sinners 00:14:28.67\00:14:33.48 reflects the high potential of that purpose in Christ. 00:14:33.51\00:14:38.91 The fact that Christ paid so much 00:14:38.94\00:14:41.16 tells us that we can become what? So much. 00:14:41.19\00:14:44.97 Notice Philippians 3 notice what we find here, 00:14:45.00\00:14:47.68 is a result when we recognize our high calling in God, 00:14:47.71\00:14:52.01 notice what it does to our motives. 00:14:52.04\00:14:54.47 Verse 13 are we there? 00:14:54.50\00:14:57.45 Read verse 13, the Bible says 00:14:57.48\00:14:59.84 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended, 00:14:59.87\00:15:03.22 but this one thing I do," 00:15:03.25\00:15:07.00 what He is doing? "Forgetting those things which are behind, 00:15:07.03\00:15:11.24 and" doing what? "Reaching forth" stop, 00:15:11.27\00:15:14.50 that's attempt, that's making effort. 00:15:14.53\00:15:17.77 Here He is what? Reaching forth. 00:15:17.80\00:15:20.84 But what do you reach forth? 00:15:20.87\00:15:21.91 Do you reach forth to send here. 00:15:21.94\00:15:24.13 Read the rest of the verse. 00:15:24.16\00:15:25.41 "Reaching forth unto" what? 00:15:25.44\00:15:27.38 "Those things which are" where? Before them or ahead of them. 00:15:27.41\00:15:31.80 So here, here He only reaches forth. 00:15:31.83\00:15:36.00 Why? Because it's something where? 00:15:36.03\00:15:38.44 Ahead of Him. 00:15:38.47\00:15:39.80 And so here we find that 00:15:39.83\00:15:41.15 when we see a high potential ahead of us, 00:15:41.18\00:15:43.87 it leads us to what? If we see we can expect much, 00:15:43.90\00:15:47.52 we will actually attempt much. 00:15:47.55\00:15:52.72 Read verse 20, verse 14. 00:15:52.75\00:15:56.90 What's the very first two words? 00:15:56.93\00:15:58.58 "I press" stop there, what's that? 00:15:58.61\00:16:01.28 That's effort. 00:16:01.31\00:16:02.52 I press, I push forward, I go toward I-- 00:16:02.55\00:16:07.17 what's He pressing toward? 00:16:07.20\00:16:08.23 When you think about running or driving somewhere, 00:16:08.26\00:16:10.70 you usually drive to a destination. 00:16:10.73\00:16:14.53 But you see that unless you have the destination, 00:16:14.56\00:16:16.99 why are you even gonna make the effort to-- to what? 00:16:17.02\00:16:21.35 Drive there. So when we-- 00:16:21.38\00:16:23.17 what we find as I said 00:16:23.20\00:16:24.23 understanding our value in Christ, 00:16:24.26\00:16:26.62 understanding the height of that purchase, 00:16:26.65\00:16:28.83 the height of our potential 00:16:28.86\00:16:30.55 gives us a great object in view. 00:16:30.58\00:16:33.45 And something that is ahead of us here we find 00:16:33.48\00:16:36.34 that we reach forth unto what? 00:16:36.37\00:16:38.68 Those things which are? Before us. 00:16:38.71\00:16:43.04 Verse 14 finish the verse, 00:16:43.07\00:16:44.23 "I press toward" what? 00:16:44.26\00:16:46.27 "The mark" stop that's a mark, 00:16:46.30\00:16:47.99 that's an object, that's an aim. 00:16:48.02\00:16:50.95 "I press toward the mark for" what? 00:16:50.98\00:16:53.07 What kind of-- " for the prize of" what? 00:16:53.10\00:16:56.48 What kind of calling? 00:16:56.51\00:16:58.08 "High calling." 00:16:58.11\00:17:01.48 But He has to what toward that high calling? Press. 00:17:01.51\00:17:06.74 Remember what the quote said, many achieve little, why? 00:17:06.77\00:17:10.62 Because they attempt little. 00:17:10.65\00:17:12.34 But you know, why many people attempt a little 00:17:12.37\00:17:14.30 because they expect a little. 00:17:14.33\00:17:17.30 And here we find that when we see that God expects much, 00:17:17.33\00:17:21.24 it He calls us to attempt much. 00:17:21.27\00:17:24.68 So we speaking of high standards 00:17:24.71\00:17:26.69 and one thing we find here as said, 00:17:26.72\00:17:28.66 the verse says I press toward the mark, I push for-- 00:17:28.69\00:17:32.18 toward the mark for the prize of the low calling? 00:17:32.21\00:17:35.97 High calling? 00:17:36.00\00:17:37.03 High calling leads them to what? Press. 00:17:37.06\00:17:39.86 High calling of God in who? 00:17:39.89\00:17:42.84 What's the verse say? In who? 00:17:42.87\00:17:44.27 What is the verse in what? In who? Christ, Jesus. 00:17:44.30\00:17:48.12 So this high calling is not apart from Jesus but where? 00:17:48.15\00:17:51.64 In Jesus. 00:17:51.67\00:17:52.70 Why because? "I am the vine, ye are the branches. 00:17:52.73\00:17:56.57 He that abideth in me, and I in him, 00:17:56.60\00:17:59.06 the same shall bear much fruit 00:17:59.09\00:18:01.39 for without me you can do" what? "Nothing." 00:18:01.42\00:18:05.20 Philippians 4:13 though, "I can do all things in Christ 00:18:05.23\00:18:12.59 which strengthens me." 00:18:12.62\00:18:15.88 Are you following? 00:18:15.91\00:18:20.27 Now listen to this quote 00:18:20.30\00:18:25.22 Desire of Ages page 73 paragraph 1, 00:18:25.25\00:18:31.39 "Throughout His life on earth, 00:18:31.42\00:18:34.11 Jesus was an earnest and constant worker." 00:18:34.14\00:18:38.97 Earnest and constant. Listen to the next part. 00:18:39.00\00:18:43.04 "He expected much, therefore" guess what it's gonna say? 00:18:43.07\00:18:50.56 "He attempted much." 00:18:50.59\00:18:55.04 Let me say that again, Desire of Ages page 73 paragraph 1, 00:18:55.07\00:18:58.62 "Jesus, Throughout His life on earth, 00:18:58.65\00:19:00.79 Jesus was an earnest and constant worker." 00:19:00.82\00:19:03.38 Why? "He expected much, therefore" what did He do? 00:19:03.41\00:19:09.67 "He attempted much." 00:19:09.70\00:19:11.00 Paul says, I have what kind of calling? 00:19:11.03\00:19:13.91 A high calling. 00:19:13.94\00:19:15.00 So what this Paul do toward that calling? 00:19:15.03\00:19:16.75 He presses toward it. 00:19:16.78\00:19:19.57 So if we expect a little, guess what we will attempt? Little. 00:19:19.60\00:19:24.02 But when we see that God expects much, 00:19:24.05\00:19:26.43 it leads us to understand that we have a duty 00:19:26.46\00:19:29.02 to attempt how much? Much. 00:19:29.05\00:19:33.62 I hope you're following. 00:19:33.65\00:19:35.37 Amen? Amen. 00:19:35.40\00:19:37.58 Point numbers two, 00:19:37.61\00:19:38.64 once we recognize this high potential in Christ, 00:19:38.67\00:19:41.71 based on the high price He paid, 00:19:41.74\00:19:43.90 it will lead us to put forth efforts, 00:19:43.93\00:19:46.47 proportionate through that potential. 00:19:46.50\00:19:49.66 If that potential was high, you know, this is for example, 00:19:49.69\00:19:52.90 this is why many individuals when they go to school, 00:19:52.93\00:19:54.96 when many young people go to school, 00:19:54.99\00:19:56.69 and they don't make efforts at high school or at collage 00:19:56.72\00:20:00.11 because they don't think they have high potential. 00:20:00.14\00:20:03.35 Many people don't put forth their efforts within them 00:20:03.38\00:20:06.49 because they expect a little, so they attempt little. 00:20:06.52\00:20:10.12 Many people go through higher who are in collage 00:20:10.15\00:20:11.99 failing exams. 00:20:12.02\00:20:13.08 Sometimes it's not even just because they are disadvantage, 00:20:13.11\00:20:16.45 but it's because they simply expect little, 00:20:16.48\00:20:18.81 so they attempt little. 00:20:18.84\00:20:21.20 And if you attempt a little guess how much you achieve? 00:20:21.23\00:20:23.69 Little. 00:20:23.72\00:20:25.37 What's our message? 00:20:25.40\00:20:26.43 Think Higher, Reach Higher, Achieve Higher. 00:20:26.46\00:20:32.59 Think Higher, Reach Higher, Achieve Higher. 00:20:32.62\00:20:36.86 Many times we-- 00:20:36.89\00:20:37.92 you know, this is a very practical principle. 00:20:37.95\00:20:40.96 Many times we, you know, relationships go wrong. 00:20:40.99\00:20:43.90 And God has said, listen, I can take broken homes 00:20:43.93\00:20:46.50 and make them a home with the atmosphere of heaven 00:20:46.53\00:20:49.25 but sometimes because we not willing to attempt much, 00:20:49.28\00:20:52.72 we only want to attempt little. 00:20:52.75\00:21:00.59 If we attempt little, we will achieve little. 00:21:00.62\00:21:04.82 But many times we attempt little 00:21:04.85\00:21:06.62 because we what? 00:21:06.65\00:21:07.75 Expect a little. 00:21:07.78\00:21:09.39 We're speaking about high moral standards, 00:21:09.42\00:21:11.22 high standards 00:21:11.25\00:21:12.43 and one of that reasons 00:21:12.46\00:21:13.49 why God can call us to high standards is 00:21:13.52\00:21:16.30 because He's promised us the potential in Him 00:21:16.33\00:21:19.45 to reach those high standards. 00:21:19.48\00:21:23.09 If you're following with me say, amen. 00:21:23.12\00:21:25.06 Amen. 00:21:25.09\00:21:26.49 Now, go to Acts 24 and we're gonna see one reason why, 00:21:26.52\00:21:30.88 many times even though we recognize 00:21:30.91\00:21:33.17 that we have these high standards 00:21:33.20\00:21:35.18 that God calls us to 00:21:35.21\00:21:36.55 and we're gonna speak about this in a second, 00:21:36.58\00:21:38.06 why God has such high standards? 00:21:38.09\00:21:41.30 We're gonna see that these high standards are not simply 00:21:41.33\00:21:43.91 for the sake of destroying our fun. 00:21:43.94\00:21:45.88 Did you know, that's what many young people believe, 00:21:45.91\00:21:48.46 God does to people when they obey Him? 00:21:48.49\00:21:52.98 They think that God's high standards 00:21:53.01\00:21:55.17 are a restriction on their fun. 00:21:55.20\00:21:57.61 They think that God-- 00:21:57.64\00:21:58.71 many times we think that God's high level of living 00:21:58.74\00:22:02.20 is a restriction. 00:22:02.23\00:22:03.40 For the last time I checked when God said no to one tree 00:22:03.43\00:22:06.49 is because He said yes to how many trees? 00:22:06.52\00:22:08.48 A whole planet. 00:22:08.51\00:22:10.07 The proportion of which God restricts 00:22:10.10\00:22:12.32 is nothing to compare, to what He gives you. 00:22:12.35\00:22:16.36 One tree? No. 00:22:16.39\00:22:17.70 A whole planet of trees? Yes. 00:22:17.73\00:22:20.97 But what did Adam-- what did Eve do? 00:22:21.00\00:22:23.01 I don't want the whole planet, I want one. 00:22:23.04\00:22:26.26 Think-- like think about it, 00:22:26.29\00:22:27.68 the proportion of which God restricts 00:22:27.71\00:22:30.23 is less than what God gives. 00:22:30.26\00:22:34.47 And this is why we're speaking about high standards. 00:22:34.50\00:22:37.39 Now many of us may have these standards 00:22:37.42\00:22:39.97 and may be they are not leaving them, 00:22:40.00\00:22:41.08 but brothers and sisters, 00:22:41.11\00:22:42.31 this is why we must study to find that hope. 00:22:42.34\00:22:45.09 Amen? Amen. 00:22:45.12\00:22:46.79 We are in Acts 24 reading-- 00:22:46.82\00:22:50.02 Acts 24:24, 25. 00:22:50.05\00:22:53.69 Say amen, when you there. 00:22:53.72\00:22:55.26 Amen. 00:22:55.29\00:22:56.47 I want you to see one reason why even though we recognize 00:22:56.50\00:22:59.59 we're bought with a high price. 00:22:59.62\00:23:01.29 Even though we then recognize 00:23:01.32\00:23:02.57 that we have high potential in Christ 00:23:02.60\00:23:04.47 and that He has high standards. 00:23:04.50\00:23:06.46 Even though we recognize that we must attempt high standards 00:23:06.49\00:23:11.58 because God expects high standards. 00:23:11.61\00:23:13.87 There are sometimes even situations 00:23:13.90\00:23:16.93 where we are hindered by this one thing, 00:23:16.96\00:23:19.64 and it's found in Acts 24. 00:23:19.67\00:23:20.81 Are we there? 00:23:20.84\00:23:22.17 Acts 24:24 here Paul is standing, 00:23:22.20\00:23:27.85 he's here before Felix 00:23:27.88\00:23:29.56 and he's been judged or he's been examined, 00:23:29.59\00:23:33.74 based on his behavior and on his ministry. 00:23:33.77\00:23:35.76 And in Acts 24 Paul is trying to reason 00:23:35.79\00:23:39.05 with Felix regarding something. 00:23:39.08\00:23:41.54 Are we there in verse 24? 00:23:41.57\00:23:43.39 The Bible says in verse 24 "And after certain days, 00:23:43.42\00:23:46.25 when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, 00:23:46.28\00:23:50.79 he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 00:23:50.82\00:23:55.48 And as he" what? 00:23:55.51\00:23:57.42 "Reasoned" so did Paul reasoned? Yes. 00:23:57.45\00:24:01.14 Paul reasoned and "As he reasoned of" what? 00:24:01.17\00:24:04.27 "Righteousness," stop right there. 00:24:04.30\00:24:05.70 What righteousness? 00:24:05.73\00:24:07.79 Psalm 119:172 "My tongue shall speak of thy word, 00:24:07.82\00:24:11.52 for all thy commandments are righteousness." 00:24:11.55\00:24:14.56 Psalm 119:172. 00:24:14.59\00:24:17.84 God tells us here Paul is trying 00:24:17.87\00:24:19.49 to reason with them about God's law, 00:24:19.52\00:24:22.21 the rest of this "reasoned with them on righteousness," 00:24:22.24\00:24:24.80 what else? 00:24:24.83\00:24:26.25 "Temperance," and what else? 00:24:26.28\00:24:27.94 "Judgment to come," and Felix did what? 00:24:27.97\00:24:31.20 "Trembled, and answered," what? 00:24:31.23\00:24:33.56 "Go" where? "Your way." 00:24:33.59\00:24:35.99 In other words, bounce, get away from me, 00:24:36.02\00:24:39.57 get lost, get lost, go. 00:24:39.60\00:24:43.58 "Go thy way for this time, when" 00:24:43.61\00:24:46.50 listen carefully to the next statement. 00:24:46.53\00:24:48.24 Notice what happen even though Paul presents before Felix, 00:24:48.27\00:24:52.83 high standards, a high calling, a high way of living. 00:24:52.86\00:25:00.59 Notice how Felix response to Paul. 00:25:00.62\00:25:04.93 Knows what happens in verse24-- 25 00:25:04.96\00:25:07.53 "Go your way for this time, when I have" what? 00:25:07.56\00:25:10.98 Say the next word with me. 00:25:11.01\00:25:12.68 Con-- what's was it would say? 00:25:12.71\00:25:14.29 "Convenient" stop there. 00:25:14.32\00:25:17.82 "Go your way" why? 00:25:17.85\00:25:20.47 For "Go thy way for this time, when I have" what? 00:25:20.50\00:25:24.38 "A convenient season." 00:25:24.41\00:25:29.61 What was the reason why 00:25:29.64\00:25:30.83 even though Paul presented high standards, 00:25:30.86\00:25:33.39 high calling, high potential before Felix, Felix says, 00:25:33.42\00:25:37.48 it was not what? 00:25:37.51\00:25:38.98 Convenient. 00:25:39.01\00:25:41.92 What it Paul said? What that Felix say? 00:25:41.95\00:25:44.43 Come back when? When it's convenient. 00:25:44.46\00:25:49.89 Jesus says, please make those changes 00:25:49.92\00:25:52.50 that I've told you in your dress. 00:25:52.53\00:25:54.85 Well, it's not convenient. 00:25:54.88\00:25:57.25 Make those changes in your diet, 00:25:57.28\00:25:59.40 but it's not convenient. 00:25:59.43\00:26:01.60 Make those changes, I've called you to these high standards, 00:26:01.63\00:26:04.26 make these changes, leave away that wilderness, 00:26:04.29\00:26:07.03 was not convenient. 00:26:07.06\00:26:09.03 Put away those video games which are corrupting the-- 00:26:09.06\00:26:11.90 it's not convenient. 00:26:11.93\00:26:13.56 Stop spending time in those movie theaters 00:26:13.59\00:26:15.87 which are not preparing you to increase your love for Jesus, 00:26:15.90\00:26:18.84 oh, it's not convenient. 00:26:18.87\00:26:20.87 Brothers and sisters, there are so many elements 00:26:20.90\00:26:23.11 to which God calls us to a high standard, 00:26:23.14\00:26:25.45 He calls us to high potential, 00:26:25.48\00:26:27.24 but because it's not convenient. 00:26:27.27\00:26:32.29 Why you are in that relationship with that person? 00:26:32.32\00:26:35.90 Why you unequally at it? Why you here? 00:26:35.93\00:26:38.32 Why are you doing these things? 00:26:38.35\00:26:39.61 Why are you going to those places 00:26:39.64\00:26:41.23 you know God cannot bless? 00:26:41.26\00:26:42.80 It's not convenient for me, God. 00:26:42.83\00:26:46.49 But the high purchase, 00:26:46.52\00:26:48.48 what kind of purchase were we purchased with? 00:26:48.51\00:26:50.74 A high purchase. 00:26:50.77\00:26:52.24 What heights is that? Infinite. 00:26:52.27\00:26:55.45 And the infinite price paid 00:26:55.48\00:26:57.25 reflects what kind of potential? 00:26:57.28\00:26:59.01 Infinite potential. 00:26:59.04\00:27:00.93 Why? Because Christ promises to be their infinite power 00:27:00.96\00:27:04.34 to bring us up to that potential. 00:27:04.37\00:27:06.88 But here we find that even though God brings us 00:27:06.91\00:27:09.34 and shows us our calling, 00:27:09.37\00:27:11.31 sometimes convenience becomes our hindrance. 00:27:11.34\00:27:14.90 It's not convenient for me. 00:27:14.93\00:27:17.41 Just stop working on the Sabbath. 00:27:17.44\00:27:19.86 It's not convenient for me 00:27:19.89\00:27:21.02 to not go and buy and sell on the Sabbath, 00:27:21.05\00:27:23.12 even though Nehemiah 13:13-17 calls that an evil thing. 00:27:23.15\00:27:28.55 It's not convenient for me because that means, 00:27:28.58\00:27:30.52 I can't hang around with that group of friends anymore, 00:27:30.55\00:27:32.80 I can't do these things and watch these things. 00:27:32.83\00:27:35.17 Jesus says, what kind of price did I paid for you? 00:27:35.20\00:27:39.13 I paid a high price, I have a high potential, 00:27:39.16\00:27:42.15 and yet you attempt a little. 00:27:42.18\00:27:46.07 Why? Because of one word, what's that one word? 00:27:46.10\00:27:49.21 Convenience. 00:27:49.24\00:27:51.58 Brothers and sisters, 00:27:51.61\00:27:52.64 when God calls us up it's not convenient, I'll be honest. 00:27:52.67\00:27:55.46 It's not convenient. 00:27:55.49\00:27:57.11 Romans 8:7, 00:27:57.14\00:27:58.99 for the carnal mind is not subjected to the law of God. 00:27:59.02\00:28:01.69 For the carnal mind is enmity against God, 00:28:01.72\00:28:04.31 for it is not subject to the law of God, 00:28:04.34\00:28:06.89 neither indeed can be. 00:28:06.92\00:28:09.00 The carnal nature does not like the calling of God. 00:28:09.03\00:28:13.13 It does not like a high calling, 00:28:13.16\00:28:14.94 it is enjoying low standards. 00:28:14.97\00:28:18.41 But God has called us to what kind of calling? 00:28:18.44\00:28:21.09 What kind of calling? 00:28:21.12\00:28:22.56 A high calling. 00:28:22.59\00:28:24.65 Christ's Object Lessons write this down. 00:28:24.68\00:28:26.54 Christ's Object Lessons, page 331 paragraph 2, 00:28:26.57\00:28:32.47 Christ's Object Lessons, page 331 paragraph 2, 00:28:32.50\00:28:37.93 Christ's Object Lessons, COL, 331 paragraph 2, 00:28:37.96\00:28:41.93 "Let no one say, 00:28:41.96\00:28:43.63 I cannot remedy the defects of character. 00:28:43.66\00:28:49.17 If you come to this decision, 00:28:49.20\00:28:50.88 you will surely fail at obtaining everlasting life. 00:28:50.91\00:28:54.42 The impossibility lies in your own will. 00:28:54.45\00:29:01.97 If you will not, then you can not overcome. 00:29:02.00\00:29:08.09 The real difficulty lies 00:29:08.12\00:29:09.68 in the corruption of an unsanctified heart, 00:29:09.71\00:29:13.74 and an unwillingness to submit to the control of God." 00:29:13.77\00:29:19.36 Let me say that again, 00:29:19.39\00:29:21.07 Christ's Object Lessons, page 331 paragraph 2, 00:29:21.10\00:29:24.64 "Let no one say," remember what are we talking about? 00:29:24.67\00:29:27.12 Here Paul presents high standards to Felix, 00:29:27.15\00:29:30.88 but Felix rejects and he says go away it's not convenient. 00:29:30.91\00:29:37.32 It's not convenient for me. 00:29:37.35\00:29:38.98 And here we find as in here we find here, 00:29:39.01\00:29:41.78 it says, "Let no one say, 00:29:41.81\00:29:43.26 I cannot remedy the defects of character." 00:29:43.29\00:29:46.40 It says, "The impossibility lies in your will. 00:29:46.43\00:29:50.03 If you will not, you can not." 00:29:50.06\00:29:54.16 And then we are told, 00:29:54.19\00:29:55.23 "The real difficulty lies in the unsanctification, 00:29:55.26\00:29:59.54 the unsanctified heart, 00:29:59.57\00:30:01.14 and an unwillingness to submit to the will of God." 00:30:01.17\00:30:05.00 What am I trying to say, 00:30:05.03\00:30:07.46 one of the great reasons 00:30:07.49\00:30:08.90 that we find us not reaching these standards 00:30:08.93\00:30:11.06 is because even when God presents it before us, 00:30:11.09\00:30:13.57 even when we know it's to be right, 00:30:13.60\00:30:15.30 sometimes we are just not willing 00:30:15.33\00:30:18.32 because of the convenience. 00:30:18.35\00:30:22.10 I have a job and I have to provide for my family, 00:30:22.13\00:30:25.77 and the only I can work is Saturday. 00:30:25.80\00:30:30.62 And if I give up my job, how am I gonna provide for my family, 00:30:30.65\00:30:33.91 it's not convenient to give that up. 00:30:33.94\00:30:38.72 I'm hanging around with a group of friends 00:30:38.75\00:30:40.20 and the only days they want to hang out 00:30:40.23\00:30:41.46 is Friday night and go to the club. 00:30:41.49\00:30:43.34 If I stop hanging out with them, 00:30:43.37\00:30:45.14 it's not convenient for me 00:30:45.17\00:30:46.47 because in whom I gonna hang out with? 00:30:46.50\00:30:50.51 If I'm not around, if I stop playing these videogames, 00:30:50.54\00:30:53.71 if I stop going to these theaters, 00:30:53.74\00:30:55.26 that's where my friends go, that's the only place we click, 00:30:55.29\00:30:57.94 if I don't it's not convenient. 00:30:57.97\00:31:01.88 If I preach truth from the fun, people won't like it, 00:31:01.91\00:31:07.07 so let me preach new things it's not convenient. 00:31:07.10\00:31:11.33 Let us not preach cheats because 00:31:11.36\00:31:13.27 it might bring uncomfortable feelings, 00:31:13.30\00:31:16.65 it's not convenient. 00:31:16.68\00:31:20.86 What's more important, convenience or truth? 00:31:20.89\00:31:27.48 Truth. 00:31:27.51\00:31:29.42 But brothers and sisters, 00:31:29.45\00:31:31.03 let us understand something about 00:31:31.06\00:31:32.63 why God standards are so high? 00:31:32.66\00:31:35.44 We can talk about God's high calling, 00:31:35.47\00:31:37.00 we can talk about how convenience can stop us 00:31:37.03\00:31:39.57 from reaching that calling, 00:31:39.60\00:31:40.63 but I want to give us the hope 00:31:40.66\00:31:42.15 to show us why God's standards are so high? 00:31:42.18\00:31:44.74 Go to Romans 7, Romans 7:12, 00:31:44.77\00:31:48.21 Romans 7, point 3 00:31:48.24\00:31:50.30 one of the great failures of us to reach this potential. 00:31:50.33\00:31:53.79 And brothers and sisters, if we speak about failure, 00:31:53.82\00:31:56.01 we must speak about what? 00:31:56.04\00:31:57.34 A solution. 00:31:57.37\00:32:00.25 Ministry of Healing, page 363 00:32:00.28\00:32:02.25 "The gospel is a wonderful simplifier of life's problems." 00:32:02.28\00:32:07.29 So if we show where we fail, 00:32:07.32\00:32:09.03 we must show where we can what? 00:32:09.06\00:32:10.69 Solve that failure. 00:32:10.72\00:32:12.41 And we're gonna find solutions in Romans 7, 00:32:12.44\00:32:14.43 are we there? 00:32:14.46\00:32:15.69 Romans 7, notice what we find here. 00:32:15.72\00:32:17.29 Notice the view we get of God's law in Romans 7. 00:32:17.32\00:32:20.48 Are we there? 00:32:20.51\00:32:22.14 Romans 7 reading verse 12, point 1, 00:32:22.17\00:32:25.23 point number 1 was this. 00:32:25.26\00:32:26.64 The high purchase, high price of our purchase as sinners, 00:32:26.67\00:32:30.92 sinful beings in Christ, reflects our high what? 00:32:30.95\00:32:35.38 Potential in Christ. 00:32:35.41\00:32:37.71 And then we found is that when we realize 00:32:37.74\00:32:39.60 what God expects the height of our potential in God, 00:32:39.63\00:32:43.36 it will lead us to actually what? 00:32:43.39\00:32:45.28 Make an attempt to reach that potential. 00:32:45.31\00:32:48.46 But one of the great things that causes us to be hindered 00:32:48.49\00:32:51.57 in reaching that potential is based on a word 00:32:51.60\00:32:54.52 standing with "C" Convenience. 00:32:54.55\00:32:58.99 Convenience, it's not convenient. 00:32:59.02\00:33:02.49 But we're told in Education page 57 paragraph 3, 00:33:02.52\00:33:05.39 "The greatest want of the world is the want of men - 00:33:05.42\00:33:08.04 men who will not be bought or sold, 00:33:08.07\00:33:09.58 men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, 00:33:09.61\00:33:12.03 men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, 00:33:12.06\00:33:14.64 men whose conscience is as true to duty 00:33:14.67\00:33:17.04 as the needle to the pole, 00:33:17.07\00:33:18.30 men who will stand for the right 00:33:18.33\00:33:19.99 ye, though the heavens fall." 00:33:20.02\00:33:23.62 Men and women. 00:33:23.65\00:33:25.03 One time I see that quotation 00:33:25.06\00:33:26.19 and a woman came up to me and said, 00:33:26.22\00:33:27.41 you just said men, you just said men, women too. 00:33:27.44\00:33:30.28 It involves women and men. 00:33:30.31\00:33:33.35 High calling. 00:33:33.38\00:33:34.86 Then we find that convenience is this great obstacle, 00:33:34.89\00:33:37.69 but what I wanted to see 00:33:37.72\00:33:39.09 is why does God have such high standards? 00:33:39.12\00:33:40.98 Are We in Romans 7? 00:33:41.01\00:33:43.07 Romans 7:12 say amen when you are there. Amen. 00:33:43.10\00:33:47.63 The Bible says there "Wherefore the law is" what? 00:33:47.66\00:33:51.44 "Holy, and the commandment is holy, and just, and good." 00:33:51.47\00:33:57.44 So what kind of law, what kind of commandments 00:33:57.47\00:34:00.29 has gone called us to keep? 00:34:00.32\00:34:01.70 They are laws that are what? Holy. 00:34:01.73\00:34:04.13 And remember Paul in Philippians 3:14 00:34:04.16\00:34:06.54 "I press toward the mark," for the what kind of calling? 00:34:06.57\00:34:10.18 "High calling." 00:34:10.21\00:34:11.91 So we have a high calling, a high standard, but want-- 00:34:11.94\00:34:14.97 notice what we find go to Proverbs 29:18. 00:34:15.00\00:34:18.81 Notice what we find here, this is powerful. 00:34:18.84\00:34:20.83 Proverbs 29:18, notice why God standard is high and holy? 00:34:20.86\00:34:26.13 Proverbs 29:18, Proverbs 29:18. 00:34:26.16\00:34:31.91 Why does God have to be so mean 00:34:31.94\00:34:33.62 and give us such high standards? 00:34:33.65\00:34:40.94 Why does God have to be so mean? 00:34:40.97\00:34:47.30 Proverbs 29:18, 00:34:47.33\00:34:49.39 convenience, convenience. 00:34:49.42\00:34:55.22 I remember there is a church here in Australia 00:34:55.25\00:34:58.13 where there was a young girl that I knew, 00:34:58.16\00:35:01.14 who was trying to leave the ways of the world 00:35:01.17\00:35:05.37 and her and her mother, 00:35:05.40\00:35:06.87 she was trying to stop doing her worldly things 00:35:06.90\00:35:08.51 and her mother was coming to her and telling her 00:35:08.54\00:35:11.88 why do you have to be so extreme? 00:35:11.91\00:35:14.46 Why do you have to be so hardcore for Jesus? 00:35:14.49\00:35:16.61 Why can't you just find a middle line? 00:35:16.64\00:35:19.29 Can't you just beat convenience for the rest of the family 00:35:19.32\00:35:22.24 making things difficult? 00:35:22.27\00:35:23.30 But she-- I remember she, you know, 00:35:23.33\00:35:26.19 and at the end of the day she had to make a decision, 00:35:26.22\00:35:28.72 do I settle for convenience? 00:35:28.75\00:35:30.53 Do I settle convenience even if it means 00:35:30.56\00:35:32.62 that something's are gonna cause you know, 00:35:32.65\00:35:34.62 separation in some ways? 00:35:34.65\00:35:37.10 what do I settle for convenience 00:35:37.13\00:35:40.22 or for God has told? 00:35:40.25\00:35:43.20 Proverbs 29 are we there? 00:35:43.23\00:35:45.55 What is connected to the keeping 00:35:45.58\00:35:48.47 of this high and holy law? 00:35:48.50\00:35:50.45 Proverbs 29:18 are you there?
