Empowerment in the workplace,

educational institution.

Empowerment has
become a buzz word.
00:11:21.70\00:11:26.34
But surely, there needs to
be empowerment in the church.

And long time ago,
before Jesus left this earth,

He made a
promise to His disciples.
00:11:39.63\00:11:42.88
He said to them, "You
shall receive power." Amen.
00:11:42.91\00:11:48.95
In fact, you
remember that great text,

the great commission
text, He said "Go ye therefore,
00:11:53.06\00:11:57.73
and make
disciples of all nations.

Teaching them,
baptizing them, leading them,

and having them make
disciples themselves."

But He said, "You
can't do it by yourself.

And there are people from

Every tongue, they are
here and we too are called upon

to preach the
everlasting gospel.

We have a mandate

as the disciples
had 2,000 years ago.

We also feel incapable
of accomplishing the task

that is before us.

But I'm here
tonight to remind us

that we do not
come in our own power,

we do not come
in our own strength.

We come in the
power of the almighty God.

Jesus said to His disciples,

With this power, He told

It was not just a mere "go."

He was calling upon all of
us, every man and every woman,

girl, every single one of us

who have accepted Jesus
Christ as our Lord and Savior,

we have a responsibility. Yes.

We have the responsibility

to go and share this gospel
of Jesus Christ with somebody.

To be a disciple
means you're a follower.

And as a part of
the qualification

And when we are
connected to Him,

we bear witness
to those around us,

beginning with our
families and with our friends.

We bear witness to our neighbors

because we have built
a relationship with them.

We bear witness to
those who are on our jobs,

or out there where
we come in contact.

We have a sacred responsibility

to bear witness

But why do we need this power?

You may recall that even when
the disciples were with Jesus,

they were unable
to cast out demon.

They were more
interested in the position

that they would be
given in the new kingdom.

They were focusing on themselves
rather than focusing on God.

And unfortunately, many of us

find ourselves in
the same position.

I want to be in this position

or I want to be
in that position.

But there's no greater position

than to sit at the
feet of Jesus Christ. Amen.

That's the message that
Christ was seeking to give them.

What type of power?

ability to do the will of God.

accomplish the task

The word power here is
from the Greek word "Dunamis."

Dunamis is where the English
word came from, dynamite.

And I remember
growing up as a boy

and they would
be blasting stones
00:19:24.40\00:19:27.41
and they would
put dynamite there.

And with the dynamite it
would create a loud blast

and the stone would break.

Well, God said,
"I'm gonna give you

the power of the Holy Ghost."

It's a greater power than any
dynamite that you can think of.

It's the power
to accomplish a task
