It's my pleasure to introduce our speaker this 00:01:01.01\00:01:03.21 morning, Dr. Tim Riesenberger. 00:01:03.24\00:01:05.08 I first became acquainted with Tim Riesenberger 00:01:05.86\00:01:08.45 when we were both at Weimar. He was attending the 00:01:08.85\00:01:11.57 college there. We didn't become close friends 00:01:11.60\00:01:14.25 until we were both medical students at Loma Linda. 00:01:14.29\00:01:17.60 Currently, Tim Riesenberger is passing emergency 00:01:18.40\00:01:21.53 medicine in the Seattle, Washington area. 00:01:21.56\00:01:23.41 And the thing that I appreciate the most about 00:01:24.08\00:01:26.73 Tim Riesenberger is his commitment to serving 00:01:27.13\00:01:29.14 Christ, where ever he is. Now his marketplace 00:01:29.17\00:01:31.82 happens to be the emergency medicine 00:01:31.85\00:01:34.72 department, but he also serves Christ in many 00:01:34.75\00:01:37.48 other ways. He is quite active in short-term 00:01:37.51\00:01:41.63 mission trips doing medical missionary work 00:01:41.66\00:01:43.48 in foreign countries and he also travels all over the 00:01:43.51\00:01:46.65 world speaking to young people as an evangelist 00:01:46.68\00:01:50.83 and a revivalist and he has personally brought 00:01:50.86\00:01:52.70 hundreds maybe thousands of people to the Lord. 00:01:53.16\00:01:55.92 I pray that you will be blessed by his a sermon 00:01:56.71\00:01:59.25 today entitled, The Truth that Transforms the World. 00:01:59.28\00:02:02.54 Like the woman at the well I was seeking 00:02:10.26\00:02:16.63 For things that could not satisfy; 00:02:18.67\00:02:25.09 But then I heard my Savior speaking: 00:02:27.34\00:02:34.72 "Draw from my well that never shall run dry. " 00:02:35.07\00:02:44.71 Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord! 00:02:45.33\00:02:53.96 Come and quench this thirsting of my soul; 00:02:54.13\00:03:03.08 Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more 00:03:03.11\00:03:13.92 Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole! 00:03:14.81\00:03:25.36 There are millions in this world who are craving 00:03:26.48\00:03:33.68 The pleasures earthly things afford; 00:03:34.72\00:03:41.87 But none can match the wondrous treasures 00:03:43.86\00:03:52.27 That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord. 00:03:52.30\00:04:00.92 Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord! 00:04:01.80\00:04:11.39 Come and quench this thirsting of my soul; 00:04:11.56\00:04:20.60 Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more 00:04:20.83\00:04:33.08 Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole! 00:04:33.66\00:04:44.50 Jus, fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord! 00:04:44.53\00:04:53.95 Come and quench this thirsting of my soul; 00:04:54.19\00:05:03.73 Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more 00:05:03.76\00:05:15.86 Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole! 00:05:16.74\00:05:28.10 Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole! 00:05:28.63\00:05:44.00 Good morning ASI, good morning. 00:05:56.76\00:05:59.23 Thank you John for that beautiful song and 00:05:59.38\00:06:01.20 thank you Tim for that introduction. 00:06:01.23\00:06:04.75 It's my joy to be here this morning and of course 00:06:05.44\00:06:08.43 we are all here to see one person that's Jesus Christ. 00:06:09.18\00:06:12.25 And Him lift it up in the marketplace and in our lives. 00:06:12.65\00:06:15.94 So, before I begin, I would like to ask Him 00:06:16.28\00:06:19.05 to be with us one more time, please bow your 00:06:19.26\00:06:21.26 heads as I kneel in prayer. 00:06:21.29\00:06:22.87 Loving father in heaven, what a joy it is to be here 00:06:27.83\00:06:31.14 with your people, with your children? 00:06:31.43\00:06:33.99 Lord we ask that you would be present not 00:06:34.96\00:06:37.43 only among us, but within us. I ask that you would 00:06:37.46\00:06:41.00 hide me behind the cross of Jesus Christ for in his 00:06:41.03\00:06:45.38 name we pray, Amen. I have a question to 00:06:45.41\00:06:49.82 begin, does God love you? Yes, yes Amen. 00:06:49.85\00:06:56.68 Does God love his son Jesus? Well, yes. 00:06:57.88\00:07:01.26 Does God love the angels that surround 00:07:01.35\00:07:03.59 his throne? Sure. Does God love his church 00:07:03.62\00:07:07.90 here on earth? Yes. Does God love the people 00:07:07.93\00:07:11.67 who don't know him yet? Yes. Does God love the 00:07:11.70\00:07:15.03 people who do know about him, but if chosen 00:07:15.06\00:07:18.45 not to follow him? Yes. Does God love those 00:07:18.48\00:07:23.40 that are lost? Yes. Does God love the evil angels? 00:07:23.43\00:07:28.45 Yes. Does God love Satan? Yes. 00:07:29.05\00:07:32.78 You know it's interesting as I go through the 00:07:33.22\00:07:34.47 cycle of questions; we start out yes, yes, 00:07:34.50\00:07:38.27 and then yes. Maybe I am not sure; probably 00:07:38.30\00:07:45.16 the second question is also simple. 00:07:47.30\00:07:49.10 If God loves you, why? Think about that for a 00:07:49.18\00:07:55.51 moment. I am going to share with you how my 00:07:55.54\00:07:59.32 life was transformed by a text message. 00:07:59.35\00:08:02.07 It sounds little strange, doesn't it? Many of you 00:08:02.81\00:08:05.52 use cell phones everyday and saying your life is 00:08:05.55\00:08:08.50 changed by text messages like saying my life was 00:08:08.53\00:08:11.49 changed by a forwarded e- mail, but it was. 00:08:11.52\00:08:15.16 I was at a time when I was going to meet 00:08:16.54\00:08:19.07 with my boss. Now this wasn't for an interview, 00:08:19.10\00:08:22.35 this was my boss saying, Dr. Riesenberger I need 00:08:22.96\00:08:25.96 to meet with you sometime. That's usually not good 00:08:25.99\00:08:29.36 by the way. It's usually fairly distressing in fact, 00:08:29.39\00:08:33.63 so I asked my friends to pray for me and one 00:08:34.28\00:08:37.03 friend sent me a text message. 00:08:37.06\00:08:38.49 They said I am praying that God will give you the 00:08:39.67\00:08:41.85 words that you need to speak at the right time. 00:08:41.88\00:08:45.67 I am claiming Luke Chapter 12 for you. 00:08:46.11\00:08:48.92 Whatever happens I'm proud of you, very sweet, 00:08:49.83\00:08:54.55 nice text message, but it bothered me to know it 00:08:54.58\00:08:58.19 because what was said was whatever happens, 00:08:59.29\00:09:02.33 whatever right. I am proud of you, 00:09:03.79\00:09:06.97 now whatever could include being fired, 00:09:07.01\00:09:09.41 could it not? And I can tell you I worked 00:09:09.48\00:09:13.03 full-time during the summer's part-time, 00:09:13.06\00:09:16.04 during the school year since I was 15, and I have 00:09:16.07\00:09:19.63 never been fired from any job. 00:09:19.66\00:09:21.17 They said whatever happens I'll be proud 00:09:23.11\00:09:25.84 of you, I wouldn't be proud of myself if I was fired. 00:09:25.87\00:09:29.61 What happened to Dr. Riesenberger? 00:09:30.20\00:09:31.40 Oh, you know he was fired. Certainly, the 00:09:31.43\00:09:35.39 people at my job know that I am a Christian, 00:09:35.42\00:09:37.78 they know that I am an Adventist, they know that 00:09:38.03\00:09:40.71 I go to church on that funny day. 00:09:40.74\00:09:43.54 They know I eat funny, vegetarian. 00:09:44.07\00:09:46.84 What kind of witness would that be if I were fired? 00:09:48.17\00:09:51.74 So, I struggled with that for a long time and the 00:09:53.29\00:09:55.83 Lord brought me to a message that has 00:09:55.86\00:09:59.17 transformed my life. Turn with me in your 00:09:59.20\00:10:00.79 Bibles to II Samuel Chapter 14. 00:10:00.82\00:10:03.62 II Samuel Chapter 14 and verse 25, II Samuel 14 00:10:04.82\00:10:12.72 and verse 25, Now in all Israel there was no one 00:10:14.85\00:10:18.95 who was praised as much as Absalom for his good looks. 00:10:18.98\00:10:22.56 From the sole of his foot to the crown of his head 00:10:22.99\00:10:25.30 there was no blemish in him. Now, to say there 00:10:25.63\00:10:30.93 was no blemish in him from head to toe in 00:10:30.96\00:10:33.24 another word for saying he was perfect. 00:10:33.27\00:10:36.15 But, perfection does not always extend to the inside. 00:10:37.56\00:10:41.34 Keep your Bibles opened to this area; we are gonna 00:10:42.38\00:10:44.78 be reading through this story quickly. 00:10:44.81\00:10:46.56 Chapter 15 verses 1-6, we find Absalom at the 00:10:47.41\00:10:52.17 gate of the city. There are men lined up to talk 00:10:52.20\00:10:57.00 to the King about a suit, about a complaint. 00:10:57.03\00:11:00.14 And Absalom says to them look, your case is 00:11:01.03\00:11:03.96 good and right; but there is no deputy of the king 00:11:03.99\00:11:06.98 to hear you. Moreover Absalom would say, Oh, 00:11:07.01\00:11:10.20 that I were made judge in the land, and everyone 00:11:10.23\00:11:14.61 who has any suit or cause would come to me; then 00:11:14.64\00:11:17.69 I would give him justice. Now who was Absalom? 00:11:17.72\00:11:21.20 Yes, David's son. So, he was the prince. 00:11:22.53\00:11:26.06 Absalom was encouraging people to come to him 00:11:27.04\00:11:29.84 rather than to the King. And in verse 6, we read 00:11:30.42\00:11:33.94 what the result of this behavior was that 00:11:34.29\00:11:37.54 Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel, 00:11:37.57\00:11:42.26 but it gets worse. Drop down to verses 10 00:11:43.04\00:11:46.60 through 12 and we find that Absalom has 00:11:46.63\00:11:49.35 proclaimed himself King. Absalom reigns in 00:11:49.38\00:11:53.10 Hebron, it says in verse 10. Verse 12 we find, 00:11:53.13\00:11:56.79 Then Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, 00:11:56.82\00:11:59.67 David's counselor from his city from Giloh while 00:11:59.84\00:12:02.70 he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew 00:12:02.73\00:12:06.06 strong, for the people increased continually 00:12:06.09\00:12:10.26 with Absalom. Now who is Ahithophel, that's kind 00:12:10.90\00:12:14.03 of a funny name isn't' it? Is there anyone know 00:12:14.06\00:12:16.36 who he was? Certainly, he was a counselor of 00:12:16.39\00:12:21.24 David, we read that from the text, but he was a 00:12:21.27\00:12:23.98 Bathsheba's grandfather. If you doubt it, II Samuel 00:12:24.01\00:12:28.60 11:3 and II Samuel 24:34, that will give you those 00:12:28.63\00:12:33.16 insights. Now how do you think Ahithophel felt 00:12:33.19\00:12:36.24 about David at this point? Can you imagine your 00:12:36.27\00:12:40.80 grandson-in-law is assassinated by the King? 00:12:40.83\00:12:44.46 He sweeps with your granddaughter, 00:12:45.90\00:12:48.09 impregnates her, lies about it in front of 00:12:48.79\00:12:51.28 everybody and what punishment does the 00:12:51.31\00:12:53.85 king receive? Nothing that you can see! 00:12:53.88\00:12:57.24 Ahithophel was waiting to even the score with 00:12:58.65\00:13:02.25 the house of David and he found this opportunity 00:13:02.28\00:13:05.40 with the rebellion of Absalom, but it gets worse. 00:13:05.67\00:13:09.20 Go to Chapter 16 and verse 11, you will find 00:13:09.80\00:13:13.33 that David is fleeing for his life from Jerusalem 00:13:13.36\00:13:16.33 because his son has marched into the city 00:13:16.88\00:13:19.71 to take it over. David doesn't stay to fight for 00:13:19.74\00:13:24.07 the city; he does not want to see Jerusalem devoted 00:13:24.10\00:13:26.81 to bloodshed. And as he is fleeing a guy comes 00:13:26.84\00:13:30.06 out of the city, he throws rocks at him and says 00:13:30.09\00:13:31.84 that's right you better run. God is getting you back 00:13:31.87\00:13:35.15 from all the bloodshed that you committed to the 00:13:35.51\00:13:38.58 house of Saul, and did David do that? 00:13:38.61\00:13:41.52 Did David commit sin against the household of Saul? 00:13:42.83\00:13:46.34 Remember what David did in the cave of 00:13:47.34\00:13:49.19 Adullam, when Saul went in there David was next 00:13:49.22\00:13:52.73 to him, could have just killed him immediately 00:13:52.76\00:13:55.22 and what did he do? He took the hem of his robe 00:13:55.25\00:13:59.88 and cut it off and even that caused David's 00:13:59.91\00:14:02.36 conscience to bother him. When Saul was asleep 00:14:02.39\00:14:05.45 at his feet, his servant next to David said look 00:14:05.48\00:14:09.05 I'll strike him once, I won't have to strike 00:14:09.08\00:14:11.15 him again and David says don't touch the Lord is 00:14:11.18\00:14:14.21 anointed. David never at anytime did any wrong 00:14:14.24\00:14:19.20 against the house of Saul. These were false 00:14:19.50\00:14:22.37 acquisitions, but listen to what David says in 00:14:22.40\00:14:24.70 verse 11. David said to Abishai and to all his 00:14:24.73\00:14:27.98 servants, See how my son who came from my 00:14:28.01\00:14:31.03 own body is seeking my life. How much more 00:14:31.06\00:14:35.77 now may this Benjamite? Let him alone, and let 00:14:35.80\00:14:37.59 him curse; for so the LORD has ordered him. 00:14:37.62\00:14:40.42 So, we find here that Absalom is seeking to kill 00:14:41.51\00:14:44.21 his own father, it gets worse. Let's take a look 00:14:44.24\00:14:48.48 at verses 20 through 22 of the same chapter. 00:14:49.10\00:14:51.88 II Samuel 16 verses 20-22, and Absalom said 00:14:52.61\00:14:59.76 to Ahithophel, give advice as to what we 00:14:59.79\00:15:02.31 should do. Absalom has set up his kingdom now 00:15:02.34\00:15:04.97 in Jerusalem and he asks his closest counselor 00:15:05.00\00:15:07.33 what his first move should be? Ahithophel 00:15:07.36\00:15:10.49 tells him to sleep with his father's wives on top 00:15:10.52\00:15:14.58 of the house. You don't get worse than what 00:15:14.61\00:15:18.83 Absalom was doing. We are told by inspired 00:15:18.86\00:15:21.76 council that Absalom by doing this added to his 00:15:21.79\00:15:24.99 sins of rebellion and murder the sin of incest. 00:15:25.02\00:15:30.48 Now we come to the scene of the battle in 00:15:33.67\00:15:35.75 chapter 18. David has mustered his forces and 00:15:35.78\00:15:40.26 who has the larger army. Do you know? 00:15:40.29\00:15:42.73 Absalom by a long shot were told by inspiration 00:15:44.12\00:15:48.63 that Absalom's force is so out numbered David's, 00:15:49.26\00:15:52.84 that compared to his army David's men were a 00:15:53.56\00:15:56.22 little handful. Ellen White says the odds were totally 00:15:56.25\00:16:00.81 against David and if not God and his intervention 00:16:00.84\00:16:05.31 David would be lost and all of his men. 00:16:06.18\00:16:08.89 David divides his company in chapter 18 00:16:10.08\00:16:12.83 verses 1-5, he divides them into three groups 00:16:12.86\00:16:15.49 and he gives them one final order as they march out. 00:16:15.70\00:16:20.04 What is that order? He says, deal gently for 00:16:20.95\00:16:27.13 my sake, with whom? With the young man 00:16:27.16\00:16:30.39 Absalom. And did he whisper this in the 00:16:30.42\00:16:33.58 general's ears? No it says that every single 00:16:33.61\00:16:37.73 person heard as he gave orders about Absalom. 00:16:37.76\00:16:41.83 So, the armies meet together in the wood of 00:16:43.27\00:16:45.47 Ephraim, the battle commences and David's 00:16:45.50\00:16:48.45 forces are victorious. Absalom sees that it 00:16:48.48\00:16:51.58 cause his loss and he goes to flee, but he gets 00:16:51.61\00:16:54.55 caught by his hair in a tree and the mule 00:16:54.58\00:16:59.10 continues to move and he is there dangling in 00:16:59.13\00:17:01.37 midair. A soldier finds him and doesn't kill him; 00:17:01.40\00:17:05.99 he comes to the General and says I saw Absalom 00:17:08.25\00:17:11.45 hanging in a tree. Joab in verse 11 of chapter 18 00:17:11.48\00:17:16.72 says, you just saw him, why don't you kill him, 00:17:16.75\00:17:18.37 I would have awarded you. And in verse 12, 00:17:18.40\00:17:21.01 we understand the seriousness of the 00:17:21.63\00:17:24.89 command of King David. The soldiers says to Joab 00:17:24.92\00:17:28.58 though you have given me a thousand pieces of 00:17:28.65\00:17:31.01 silver, I wouldn't have touched Absalom because 00:17:31.04\00:17:34.89 you heard the king as he spoke in our presence, 00:17:34.92\00:17:38.36 beware lest any of you touch the young man 00:17:39.04\00:17:43.43 Absalom. Joab says, whatever I can't talk with 00:17:43.46\00:17:47.63 you, he goes gets his men stabs not one not two, but 00:17:47.66\00:17:52.24 three spears into the heart of Absalom and while he 00:17:52.27\00:17:54.97 is there in cardiogenic shock, he surrounded by 00:17:55.00\00:17:58.26 ten guys beaten up, killed, thrown in a pit lot of 00:17:58.29\00:18:01.22 rocks on top of him, the end of Absalom. 00:18:01.25\00:18:03.47 But there is still one more thing that you need to do. 00:18:05.40\00:18:07.54 Who is waiting in the city to find out the 00:18:08.14\00:18:11.39 results of the battle? David. They send a 00:18:11.42\00:18:15.37 messenger. Take a look, verse 28 the messenger 00:18:15.40\00:18:19.83 says all is well, he bowed down his face to the 00:18:19.86\00:18:23.31 earth before the king, and said, blessed be the 00:18:23.34\00:18:25.20 LORD your God, who has delivered up the men 00:18:25.23\00:18:27.68 who raised their hand against my lord the king. 00:18:27.71\00:18:29.78 The king's first question is not, wow where there 00:18:30.81\00:18:35.31 many casualties. His first comment was not 00:18:35.34\00:18:38.57 Praise the Lord, who has delivered me from 00:18:38.60\00:18:40.66 my enemies. What is his first question? 00:18:40.69\00:18:43.58 Is the young man Absalom safe? 00:18:45.09\00:18:49.16 The messenger gives him a very vague response. 00:18:49.70\00:18:52.20 So, the next messenger comes, the next 00:18:52.79\00:18:55.33 messenger in verse 31, there is good news, 00:18:55.36\00:18:57.69 my lord the king, for the LORD has avenged 00:18:57.72\00:18:59.95 you this day of all those who rose against you. 00:18:59.98\00:19:03.01 Does David say yeah the first guy said that thank 00:19:04.02\00:19:06.27 you for risking your life for me? Does he say 00:19:06.30\00:19:09.67 praise God, who has delivered me from the 00:19:10.28\00:19:12.76 mouth of the line in the bear and now from 00:19:12.79\00:19:15.33 this rebellion? Do you realize his question 00:19:15.36\00:19:18.89 is the same? The same words are used, 00:19:18.92\00:19:22.22 he says is the young man Absalom safe? 00:19:23.00\00:19:27.15 This message is given a different response, 00:19:27.83\00:19:30.76 he says may all the enemies of my Lord the 00:19:31.55\00:19:35.36 king and all who raise against you to do you 00:19:35.41\00:19:38.30 harm be like that young man is. 00:19:38.33\00:19:41.24 So, now David knows that Absalom is dead. 00:19:42.70\00:19:47.03 I want you to look very carefully at verse 33, 00:19:48.62\00:19:52.13 then the king was deeply moved, and he went 00:19:55.48\00:19:57.48 up to the chamber over the gate and wept. 00:19:57.51\00:19:59.46 And as he went, he said O my son Absalom, 00:19:59.49\00:20:03.45 my son, my son Absalom if only I had 00:20:04.21\00:20:07.99 died in your place! O Absalom my son, my son. 00:20:08.02\00:20:15.70 A simple question for you did David love Absalom 00:20:18.05\00:20:22.77 because Absalom was a loyal subject of his 00:20:23.25\00:20:25.75 kingdom. Do you realize the war that killed 00:20:25.78\00:20:31.75 more United States citizens than all of our 00:20:31.78\00:20:34.44 worse combined or was it the civil war? 00:20:34.47\00:20:38.66 That is what Absalom did to the nation of Israel, 00:20:39.07\00:20:42.47 so that wasn't the reason. So, perhaps David loved 00:20:43.67\00:20:46.84 Absalom because he was in affection of his son. 00:20:46.87\00:20:49.50 He is trying to kill his own father, going against 00:20:52.31\00:20:57.24 even natural affection, so that wasn't the reason. 00:20:57.27\00:21:00.59 Perhaps David loved Absalom because 00:21:01.16\00:21:04.10 Absalom had a pure heart and a moral character. 00:21:04.13\00:21:07.42 Friends you don't get worse than incest times ten. 00:21:10.12\00:21:14.60 That wasn't the reason that David loved Absalom. 00:21:15.97\00:21:18.72 And so I ask you a simple question why did 00:21:18.75\00:21:23.93 David love Absalom? Because wicked though 00:21:23.96\00:21:27.74 he was, he was after all David' son. 00:21:27.77\00:21:33.79 And at that moment God spoke to my mind, 00:21:34.66\00:21:37.64 three words that I will never forget as 00:21:37.67\00:21:39.47 long as I live. And it wasn't like fire was on the 00:21:39.50\00:21:42.42 sky or the sealing, I didn't hear a voice, I didn't go 00:21:42.45\00:21:45.60 over to the closet and open it up, see if someone 00:21:45.63\00:21:47.56 was there. I say though that God spoke to me 00:21:47.59\00:21:50.63 because a new thought entered my mind and it 00:21:51.02\00:21:57.00 went something like this, Tim I don't love you 00:21:57.03\00:21:59.97 because you are a doctor and you save people's 00:22:00.81\00:22:03.57 lives everyday. Tim I don't love you because 00:22:03.60\00:22:07.52 you dedicate a week out of every month to my 00:22:07.55\00:22:10.08 cause. I don't love you because you share your 00:22:10.11\00:22:14.08 testimony, I don't love you for all the good 00:22:14.11\00:22:17.64 things that you do though it makes me happy. 00:22:17.67\00:22:19.91 I don't love you because you are a Christian and 00:22:20.74\00:22:22.84 I don't love you because you are an Adventist. 00:22:22.87\00:22:24.77 These things please me, but it is not why I love you? 00:22:26.28\00:22:29.99 Tim I love you and here are the three words, 00:22:31.38\00:22:34.21 because you are mine. And at that moment, 00:22:36.40\00:22:40.04 I fell to my knees and I cried more than I have 00:22:41.34\00:22:44.56 cried in my whole life. Because I saw God at 00:22:44.59\00:22:48.26 last and don't get me wrong, it wasn't like 00:22:48.29\00:22:50.94 I didn't know God love me, of course I knew God 00:22:51.28\00:22:53.67 love me. Jesus loves me, this I know right. 00:22:53.70\00:22:57.04 For the Bible tells me so, but I can tell you 00:22:57.37\00:23:00.57 understanding why he love me has 00:23:01.01\00:23:05.38 transformed my life. And I wanna share with 00:23:05.41\00:23:08.96 you that I have seen this truth in my entire 00:23:08.99\00:23:13.57 professional career and not understood until 00:23:13.60\00:23:17.99 that moment. Come with me to the emergency 00:23:18.02\00:23:20.62 department, Dr Riesenberger we have a level one 00:23:20.65\00:23:24.64 trauma that will arrive in five minutes. 00:23:24.67\00:23:27.36 The patient is a 15-year-old male, 00:23:29.34\00:23:31.60 who was T-boned at highway speeds. 00:23:32.21\00:23:34.54 His left side was crushed by the accident, he is not 00:23:35.34\00:23:39.92 breathing, his heart is not beating, all other 00:23:39.95\00:23:43.17 passengers were thrown clear and no 00:23:43.20\00:23:45.49 one else is injured. The paramedics are trying 00:23:45.52\00:23:48.81 to intubate the patient and CPR is in progress, 00:23:48.84\00:23:52.50 five minutes. So I stood up, I called for x-ray, 00:23:54.45\00:23:59.15 I called for neurosurgeon, I called for trauma, 00:23:59.97\00:24:02.01 I called for four units of blood, O negative, 00:24:02.26\00:24:05.40 I called for a chest tube a central line and we 00:24:05.93\00:24:09.92 prepare as this young man will struggle for his life. 00:24:09.95\00:24:13.49 The paramedics wheeled him and they are doing 00:24:14.18\00:24:15.88 CPR and every time they compress I hear a crunch, 00:24:15.91\00:24:18.31 crunch, crunch with each compression. 00:24:18.66\00:24:22.13 They throw him down on the gurney in front of me, 00:24:22.91\00:24:24.80 I quickly grab the endotracheal tube, I snake 00:24:25.50\00:24:28.27 it through the bloody chords of his trachea. 00:24:28.30\00:24:32.03 I turn on the ventilator and a red column of 00:24:33.01\00:24:35.23 blood goes up and down out of the tube. 00:24:35.29\00:24:38.71 I realize his lung is crushed by bleeding and 00:24:39.22\00:24:42.70 it needs to be re-inflated, so I slap some iodine on 00:24:42.73\00:24:45.19 his chest quickly inserted chest tube and as I insert 00:24:45.22\00:24:48.91 that chest tube a liter of blood comes out, 00:24:48.94\00:24:52.62 two liters, three liters, and at that moment 00:24:52.65\00:24:56.98 I stepped away because I know that this young 00:24:57.01\00:25:01.96 man will die. Someone catches the look on my 00:25:01.99\00:25:05.55 face and they say no, why, why wasn't it me? 00:25:05.58\00:25:12.01 That drove today instead of him and who was that? 00:25:13.92\00:25:20.30 That was his father, and that young man died. 00:25:21.61\00:25:25.96 Come with me to the emergency department, 00:25:26.79\00:25:29.03 the nurse pats me on the shoulder, 00:25:29.60\00:25:31.16 Dr. Riesenberger we need an order for an IV for 00:25:31.19\00:25:34.31 medications, for fluids, we have an 8-year-old 00:25:34.34\00:25:36.87 girl who is vomiting out in the waiting room, 00:25:36.90\00:25:38.51 I said okay. Here is the order, and I see this little 00:25:38.54\00:25:43.05 girl wheeled back to the room, she is apparently 00:25:43.08\00:25:47.50 8 years old, but she looks like she is probably 4. 00:25:47.53\00:25:50.26 She is very small wasted away, she has no hair, 00:25:50.90\00:25:55.68 and she is vomiting uncontrollably from the 00:25:56.86\00:25:59.60 chemotherapy for her cancer. She vomits up 00:25:59.63\00:26:03.66 her lunch, then she vomits up clear, then she 00:26:03.69\00:26:05.92 vomits up yellow, then she vomits up green. 00:26:05.95\00:26:08.72 And as she begins to vomit up blood and we 00:26:09.77\00:26:13.81 can't stop it. I hear a cry in the corner of the room 00:26:13.84\00:26:18.45 why? Why wasn't it me that had the cancer 00:26:18.48\00:26:25.22 instead of her, who was that? That was her 00:26:25.87\00:26:30.48 mother. And I can tell you story, after story, 00:26:30.51\00:26:33.88 after story. Gunshot wound to the chest; 00:26:33.91\00:26:37.68 we are giving blood, more blood, cross 00:26:39.04\00:26:41.63 clamping the aorta, CPR directly on the heart 00:26:41.66\00:26:45.91 injecting epinephrine into the cardiac chamber. 00:26:45.94\00:26:49.90 I keep calling for more blood; we are up to about 00:26:51.51\00:26:53.75 40 units of blood. And the blood bank calls from 00:26:53.78\00:26:57.85 overhead and said Dr. Riesenberger, there is 00:26:57.88\00:27:00.01 no 'O negative' blood in this hospital, you have 00:27:00.04\00:27:03.70 used it all. Immediately someone pushes their 00:27:03.73\00:27:06.84 way through lays down on the gurney next to the 00:27:06.87\00:27:09.18 trauma victim and says I have O negative take all 00:27:09.21\00:27:15.90 that you need, who was it? It's his father. 00:27:16.24\00:27:22.00 Were these parents Christians would you say? 00:27:24.67\00:27:27.85 Not necessarily they could have been, in this 00:27:29.33\00:27:31.57 case not one of them. But, they understand the 00:27:31.60\00:27:37.66 truth that transforms the world of why God 00:27:37.69\00:27:42.56 loves you and I? You see a glimpse of that love, 00:27:42.59\00:27:48.13 when a parent is holding their dieing child and they 00:27:48.77\00:27:52.92 are slipping away from their grasp. And you say 00:27:52.95\00:27:56.67 Tim that's too much, that's too, that's too 00:27:56.70\00:27:58.86 amazing, that's crazy love. God can't love me 00:27:58.89\00:28:03.41 that much because you don't understand, 00:28:03.59\00:28:05.76 Tim I have done so many things that are against 00:28:05.79\00:28:08.77 God, I am such a hypocrite, you don't know my story. 00:28:08.80\00:28:15.40 In fact I am pretty sure by this time; I've committed 00:28:16.49\00:28:20.00 the unpardonable sin. Do you want to know when 00:28:20.03\00:28:25.69 the unpardonable sin occurs? I can tell you 00:28:25.72\00:28:28.68 right now, come back to me. We gonna go to the ER 00:28:28.71\00:28:32.92 again, I get a call Dr. Riesenberger, 00:28:32.95\00:28:36.63 we have a 7-month-old baby in full arrest. 00:28:36.66\00:28:40.50 He was put down to sleep by his grandmother 00:28:40.99\00:28:44.12 earlier tonight on his stomach, don't do that by 00:28:44.15\00:28:46.48 the way and he was found to be blue and not 00:28:46.51\00:28:51.12 breathing shortly afterwards. 00:28:51.15\00:28:53.57 Medics are trying to intubate the child, 00:28:54.84\00:28:56.72 he will come in five minutes. I called for 00:28:56.94\00:28:59.76 pediatrics, I called for x- ray, I pulled out a dose 00:28:59.79\00:29:03.01 of epinephrine and atropine. I charge up the 00:29:03.04\00:29:06.50 defibrillator and we prepared for the arrival 00:29:06.53\00:29:09.78 of this baby. They are bringing him in and they 00:29:09.81\00:29:12.90 are doing compressions on his little chest. 00:29:12.93\00:29:14.85 I managed to snake a little straw like tube into 00:29:15.85\00:29:19.83 his vocal cords and I turn on the ventilator and 00:29:19.86\00:29:23.53 I start breathing for him. I turned on my monitor 00:29:23.56\00:29:26.68 and I see a big flat line or perhaps it's not flat 00:29:27.12\00:29:33.53 maybe there is a little ventricular fibrillation. 00:29:34.01\00:29:36.46 Shock him, boom nothing, we gave him 00:29:37.04\00:29:41.40 epinephrine, we gave him atropine, we gave him 00:29:41.43\00:29:44.58 fluids, we shock him several more times and 00:29:44.61\00:29:48.35 we begin to fight the battle for this child's life. 00:29:48.38\00:29:51.55 Ten minutes go by, twenty minutes go by, 00:29:52.14\00:29:53.94 thirty minutes go by, and at 30 minutes something 00:29:54.19\00:29:59.23 always happens. I hear footsteps behind me and 00:29:59.26\00:30:02.69 I already know who it is? I don't even need to turn 00:30:02.72\00:30:04.72 around. Those footsteps stopped right behind me 00:30:04.75\00:30:08.48 and they wait for a moment, after that 00:30:08.51\00:30:11.93 moment I feel a touch on my shoulder and I turned 00:30:11.96\00:30:16.46 around and who was it? Its one of the parents at 00:30:16.49\00:30:21.87 this point, the father in this case, and he said 00:30:21.90\00:30:25.92 Dr. Riesenberger, I appreciate everything 00:30:25.95\00:30:28.59 you have done for my boy Johnny, but I have 00:30:28.62\00:30:34.71 been watching him for the last 30 minutes, I haven't 00:30:34.74\00:30:39.36 seen him take a breath on his own except with your 00:30:39.39\00:30:42.23 machine and I have been watching your monitor up 00:30:42.26\00:30:46.42 on the screen and I see that flat line and I watch 00:30:46.45\00:30:50.24 ER at home and I know that's not good. 00:30:50.27\00:30:52.32 And so at this point, I need to know something 00:30:53.47\00:30:56.60 from you, in your professional opinion. 00:30:56.63\00:30:59.47 Is there any hope, they all ask the same question. 00:31:00.42\00:31:05.89 And if I turn to him and say Mr. Johnson you know 00:31:07.06\00:31:09.31 before you arrived I saw Johnny breath a little bit 00:31:09.96\00:31:12.63 on his own before you made it into the room, 00:31:12.66\00:31:16.09 I saw a little activity from his heart. I think we still 00:31:16.20\00:31:21.01 have a small chance that he will live again, 00:31:21.04\00:31:24.95 what do you think he would say. Go keep going 00:31:25.62\00:31:29.65 why are you talking to me? Take care of my son, 00:31:29.68\00:31:32.05 but that's not what I said. I said Mr. Johnson, 00:31:34.70\00:31:39.19 you are right. Even if you were to see your son's 00:31:40.53\00:31:45.12 heartbeat right now and he would to start 00:31:45.15\00:31:48.11 breathing on his own right now. His brain is 00:31:48.14\00:31:53.45 gone, there is no hope. That is when the 00:31:53.48\00:32:03.46 unpardonable sin occurs. Do you understand, 00:32:03.49\00:32:08.44 what do you think the parents tell me when I tell 00:32:10.48\00:32:13.76 them there is no more hope. We will shock him 00:32:13.79\00:32:16.59 again, did I say that? Why don't you poke him a few 00:32:16.62\00:32:20.05 more times? Why don't you put a couple more 00:32:20.08\00:32:23.45 tubes in him, so he can suffer before he dies 00:32:23.48\00:32:26.65 anyway? Do you think anyone says that? 00:32:26.68\00:32:29.44 Not one has ever told me to do that. What do you 00:32:30.85\00:32:36.73 think they say? They all say the same thing, 00:32:36.76\00:32:39.54 they cry as they mourn the loss of their child 00:32:40.82\00:32:46.10 and then they ask me please can you stop, 00:32:47.47\00:32:51.19 can you turn your machine off? Can you 00:32:52.16\00:32:55.29 take the needles away and pull the tubes out, 00:32:55.32\00:32:58.47 so that we can say goodbye to our Johnny. 00:32:59.71\00:33:03.51 And you know what I do, I do just that. 00:33:05.69\00:33:08.93 I turn off the machine, I pull out the tubes, 00:33:10.54\00:33:13.27 I tell the nurses to clear out the needles, 00:33:13.30\00:33:15.53 time of death 2:34 a. m. give the Johnson's time 00:33:16.78\00:33:21.61 with their son. I walk out of the room, 00:33:22.37\00:33:25.54 I pull the curtain and he dies. 00:33:26.68\00:33:30.62 That is when the unpardonable sin occurs. 00:33:30.65\00:33:37.48 When God looks into your soul and he knows 00:33:38.08\00:33:41.86 that whether he sends you blessing or affliction. 00:33:42.85\00:33:46.41 Whether he sends you council from someone 00:33:47.07\00:33:49.10 or directly from his spirit that there is no turning 00:33:49.31\00:33:54.04 back, there is no hope. God does what any loving 00:33:54.07\00:34:01.62 parent would do? And he let's you go because 00:34:01.65\00:34:07.81 who of any parent would want the last moments of 00:34:07.84\00:34:12.31 their child to be suffering in pain, he let you go. 00:34:12.34\00:34:18.30 As I consider the patient's that I have seen, 00:34:23.69\00:34:27.74 as I consider them in the light of the love of God. 00:34:27.87\00:34:31.67 I understand God now in a new way, in a different way. 00:34:32.59\00:34:37.08 God says in II Peter Chapter 3 verse 9, II Peter 00:34:38.60\00:34:44.76 Chapter 3 verse 9, God is not slack concerning his 00:34:44.79\00:34:50.98 promise as some men count slackness, but his 00:34:51.01\00:34:53.82 long suffering to us were not willing that, 00:34:53.85\00:34:57.75 how many? Any should perish about that, oh, oh, 00:34:58.82\00:35:03.79 should come to repentance. I understand now why in 00:35:04.66\00:35:10.17 Matthew 18:12 the God leaves the 99 in the 00:35:10.20\00:35:14.23 wilderness and goes after the one that's lost. 00:35:14.26\00:35:19.81 I have asked this question to many audiences 00:35:20.89\00:35:23.77 and I have seen parents who have up to, I think 00:35:24.50\00:35:26.75 14 kids was the largest and I told them, I said 13 00:35:26.78\00:35:31.56 of your children are fine, one is in critical condition 00:35:31.59\00:35:35.42 in the ICU, where are you gonna be right now? 00:35:35.45\00:35:38.56 In the ICU. God of all the worlds that he has 00:35:40.27\00:35:45.90 created his focused on one and that is our world 00:35:45.93\00:35:52.55 because his children are in danger. 00:35:54.05\00:35:56.65 All of his efforts are focused here though he 00:35:57.93\00:36:00.14 loves all his children he is right, where every 00:36:00.17\00:36:04.61 single parent would be? I understand, let me tame 00:36:04.64\00:36:10.62 at this way perhaps I walked over to this 00:36:10.65\00:36:15.94 mother of this child that just passed away and 00:36:16.65\00:36:19.66 as she and her husband are mourning the loss of 00:36:19.69\00:36:23.24 Johnny, I go over and place my hand on their 00:36:23.27\00:36:27.78 shoulder and I say Mrs. Johnson I am so sorry 00:36:27.81\00:36:31.93 you have lost your son, but I see that you are very 00:36:31.96\00:36:33.76 young and in fact you have a couple other 00:36:33.79\00:36:35.43 children there already, so that should be okay. 00:36:35.46\00:36:38.13 Then I really would lose my job or I get slap too. 00:36:40.38\00:36:45.02 And in fact perhaps I could say that you are 00:36:46.96\00:36:50.10 still young you could have another child and 00:36:50.13\00:36:51.88 call him Johnny, how would that be? 00:36:51.91\00:36:55.04 It wouldn't be the same, would it? In fact are there 00:36:57.04\00:36:59.79 any twins in the audience? What if I told your parents 00:36:59.82\00:37:06.45 that one of you was killed in a car accident, but it 00:37:07.62\00:37:10.09 was okay because the other twin survived, 00:37:10.12\00:37:12.43 would it make any difference to your parents? 00:37:14.55\00:37:17.67 Not a bit. Because yes God is creator but some 00:37:18.95\00:37:25.26 of us occasionally think of him as creator of a 00:37:25.29\00:37:28.00 science project. You know you make a little 00:37:28.03\00:37:31.58 clay pot, it doesn't work out so you smash it and 00:37:31.61\00:37:34.35 start all over again, I am sorry it's not that way. 00:37:34.38\00:37:38.26 God can't make another you, every child is unique 00:37:39.57\00:37:48.74 and special in fact I will illustrate it to you in a 00:37:48.77\00:37:52.70 way you will never forget. How many of us want to 00:37:52.73\00:37:56.75 come up in the resurrection? The first resurrection, 00:37:56.78\00:38:00.28 right, right you remember what happens? 00:38:01.58\00:38:03.83 You want to come up in the first resurrection 00:38:04.65\00:38:06.45 because that's the resurrection 00:38:06.48\00:38:07.58 of the just, right. So, when you rise 00:38:07.61\00:38:11.22 from the grave, I already know what's you are 00:38:11.25\00:38:14.24 gonna do first? You are not gonna go look for 00:38:14.27\00:38:17.65 the lion and the lamb playing, you are not 00:38:17.68\00:38:19.23 gonna look for your angel, you are not even 00:38:19.26\00:38:21.08 gonna look for the Jesus first. You know who you 00:38:21.11\00:38:23.81 are gonna look for first when you rise from the 00:38:23.84\00:38:25.46 grave, you are gonna look for your kids. 00:38:25.49\00:38:29.15 And if you have ten kids, you are gonna count 00:38:30.35\00:38:35.85 every one of them that comes up with you. 00:38:36.98\00:38:38.58 8, 9, let's see 6, 7, 8, 9 and if you are missing 00:38:40.13\00:38:47.74 one, even one you are gonna go directly to God 00:38:47.77\00:38:56.31 in the throne room that is gonna be your first test. 00:38:57.31\00:38:59.75 This is not go pick a fruit off the tree of life, it's 00:38:59.78\00:39:03.92 gonna go straight to God's throne room and 00:39:03.95\00:39:07.11 you are gonna have a question for him, 00:39:07.14\00:39:08.62 could you know that? And that question will 00:39:08.71\00:39:11.05 only have one word in it and what will it be? 00:39:11.08\00:39:15.17 Why? You will bring your children and say 00:39:16.51\00:39:20.92 why? And I don't know what God will tell you, 00:39:21.85\00:39:25.15 but I believe he will take you by the hand, he will 00:39:25.18\00:39:27.26 walk you through the streets of gold and show 00:39:27.29\00:39:29.52 you empty mansion after empty mansion after 00:39:29.55\00:39:31.81 empty mansion, say why? There is no reason why? 00:39:31.84\00:39:36.27 I did all I could to save your son because he is 00:39:37.28\00:39:43.61 mine as well and you will mourn. You see God does 00:39:43.64\00:39:49.98 not wipe away the tears until after the second 00:39:50.01\00:39:52.37 resurrection, did you know that? 00:39:52.40\00:39:53.82 You will mourn during those 1000 years as you 00:39:55.34\00:39:59.04 look through the books and you read why your 00:39:59.07\00:40:04.43 child is not there? But there is one who will 00:40:04.46\00:40:07.89 mourn more than all of us combined and who is that? 00:40:07.92\00:40:12.08 That is God, because he is a great father of us all. 00:40:13.04\00:40:19.28 I am gonna come to my point of Satan. 00:40:23.35\00:40:27.53 Remember, I asked if God love Satan. 00:40:27.97\00:40:29.67 Do you have a better insight now? 00:40:30.76\00:40:32.20 Do you understand why of course God love Satan 00:40:32.94\00:40:36.91 because he is the great father of us all. 00:40:38.25\00:40:41.95 But, there is a difference between you and Satan. 00:40:42.97\00:40:46.37 Turn with me to Mathew 25, Mathew chapter 25 00:40:47.10\00:40:50.85 verse 34 we are in the great judgment day. 00:40:50.88\00:40:54.10 On the right hand are the sheep, left hand are the 00:40:55.66\00:40:59.59 goats, right. Matthew chapter 25 verse 34, 00:41:00.21\00:41:04.00 God says Come, you blessed of My Father; 00:41:05.51\00:41:10.05 inherit the kingdom prepared for you since 00:41:10.40\00:41:14.35 when? From the foundation of the world, then God 00:41:14.38\00:41:18.50 says to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, 00:41:18.53\00:41:20.45 you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared 00:41:20.48\00:41:22.26 for, it doesn't say you. It does not say you. 00:41:22.29\00:41:30.11 What does it say? Do you notice the difference? 00:41:31.06\00:41:35.05 How many people were designed to be lost? 00:41:36.86\00:41:39.07 Zero, God wants to save how many? All. 00:41:40.99\00:41:47.50 How many of your kids do you wanna save? All. 00:41:48.52\00:41:51.70 Don't you understand God wants his children 00:41:53.38\00:41:57.90 there more than anything else and he is not willing 00:41:57.93\00:42:02.62 to quit until he has them all or until there is no 00:42:02.65\00:42:07.49 more hope. But, what's the difference? 00:42:07.52\00:42:11.17 Who was designed for the lake of fire? 00:42:11.20\00:42:13.50 The devil and his angels, do you see that there is a 00:42:14.80\00:42:18.91 difference here? Is the devil a sinner? 00:42:18.94\00:42:22.04 are you a sinner? Sure, but what's the difference. 00:42:23.44\00:42:26.71 Desire of Ages page 761, you can write this down 00:42:26.74\00:42:31.20 look it up later, Desire of Ages 761, But even as a 00:42:31.23\00:42:37.62 sinner, man was in a different position from 00:42:37.65\00:42:41.77 that of Satan. Lucifer in heaven sinned in the light 00:42:41.80\00:42:46.93 of God's glory. To him as to know other created 00:42:46.96\00:42:51.72 being was given a revelation of God's love. 00:42:51.75\00:42:55.45 Understanding the character of God, 00:42:55.48\00:42:58.61 knowing His goodness, Satan chose to follow his 00:42:58.64\00:43:02.93 own selfish, independent will. 00:43:02.96\00:43:05.53 This choice was final. Why was the choice final 00:43:06.61\00:43:12.13 for Satan, well the next sentence, This choice was 00:43:12.16\00:43:16.76 final. There was no more that God could do to save him. 00:43:16.79\00:43:21.33 Do you see the unpardonable sin? 00:43:23.37\00:43:24.81 What more is God can do to save him? 00:43:27.22\00:43:28.74 There is no more. Now why is that? Why is it 00:43:28.84\00:43:34.40 that God could do no more to save Satan? 00:43:34.43\00:43:36.88 Well, I will ask you a question, what is the only 00:43:38.02\00:43:39.97 thing that brings you to repentance? 00:43:40.00\00:43:41.68 Yes, Romans 2:4 that's right. Romans chapter 2 00:43:43.63\00:43:47.65 verse 4, or do you despise the goodness and the 00:43:47.81\00:43:52.70 riches of His grace, not knowing that the 00:43:52.73\00:43:57.42 goodness of God leads you to repentance. 00:43:57.45\00:44:02.12 Now I am gonna ask you a question how much of 00:44:03.15\00:44:05.11 God's goodness did Satan know? Okay, if God is 00:44:05.14\00:44:10.14 here where was Satan? He is right next to him. 00:44:10.17\00:44:16.22 You are not getting any closer to God. 00:44:16.98\00:44:19.34 Satan knew God's goodness and he chose anyway. 00:44:21.06\00:44:28.36 There was no more that God could do to save him? 00:44:29.46\00:44:33.37 That's why the devil and his angels are lost 00:44:34.85\00:44:37.70 because God has exhausted every resource. 00:44:38.75\00:44:42.88 There is nothing more that God can show to 00:44:43.82\00:44:46.04 Satan and his angels that will convince them, 00:44:46.07\00:44:48.15 but now I am gonna finish the rest of the quote. 00:44:49.61\00:44:51.56 This choice was final, there was no more that 00:44:52.73\00:44:56.57 God could do to save him, but man was deceived. 00:44:56.60\00:45:01.38 His mind was darkened by Satan's sophistry, 00:45:02.11\00:45:05.58 the height and depth of the love of God, he did 00:45:05.74\00:45:09.76 not know. For him there was hope in the 00:45:09.79\00:45:13.95 knowledge of God's love by beholding his 00:45:13.98\00:45:17.74 character he might be drawn back to God. 00:45:17.77\00:45:21.45 That is the difference between you and I and Satan. 00:45:22.61\00:45:26.10 I did not know the love of God, I did not know that 00:45:27.62\00:45:33.82 God loved me as those parents love their child 00:45:33.85\00:45:38.12 that slipping through their fingers. 00:45:38.15\00:45:40.47 I didn't understand the height and the depth 00:45:41.63\00:45:44.32 of his great love for me, I was deceived. 00:45:45.12\00:45:48.41 Have any of you ever woken up in the middle 00:45:50.11\00:45:51.65 of the night out of a dead sleep and it's pitch black 00:45:51.68\00:45:54.36 and you don't know where you are? 00:45:54.67\00:45:56.03 Has that ever happened to you? That's happened 00:45:56.89\00:45:59.08 to me several times especially during residency. 00:45:59.11\00:46:01.64 God bless you Tim Arakawa. I wake up in the middle 00:46:01.67\00:46:05.22 of the night; I don't know where I am because its 00:46:05.25\00:46:09.07 pitch dark in fact you don't even know which 00:46:09.10\00:46:11.00 side of the bed your head is on, is that on the 00:46:11.03\00:46:13.50 left side or the right side, but what happens when 00:46:13.53\00:46:16.00 someone cracks open the door? A little light comes 00:46:16.03\00:46:19.87 in and what you immediately know? 00:46:19.90\00:46:21.04 Everything, God has cracked the door of my 00:46:22.08\00:46:29.23 heart and I know where I am. 00:46:29.26\00:46:32.58 And I know at last who he is? I see his love not 00:46:34.09\00:46:41.94 only in my life, but I see his love even as I am 00:46:41.97\00:46:45.89 facing death. In fact you sometimes see love of 00:46:45.92\00:46:49.87 parents a lot clearer when the time is critical, 00:46:49.90\00:46:54.74 but can you imagine we come back into the ER. 00:46:56.01\00:46:59.41 I have just pronounced this child dead, the father 00:46:59.71\00:47:03.69 and mother have requested that I turn off 00:47:03.72\00:47:06.03 the machine and I walk over to the mother and 00:47:06.06\00:47:10.38 I looked her in the eyes as I say you turn it off. 00:47:10.41\00:47:13.52 What would she say? I can't do it, I can't do it 00:47:15.20\00:47:21.74 because that's my son, and I can tell you that is 00:47:23.55\00:47:30.85 the same with God. You see God is the only 00:47:30.88\00:47:35.09 being in the universe that can truly give or 00:47:35.12\00:47:37.95 take away life. You realize that and when 00:47:37.98\00:47:41.75 he knows that there is no more hope for you, 00:47:41.78\00:47:45.40 he himself must let you die. He himself must allow 00:47:46.43\00:47:52.62 you to sink into oblivion. And you know I am not 00:47:52.65\00:47:58.79 exactly sure what he is going to say at that 00:47:58.82\00:48:01.80 moment, but I know it's not gonna be well you 00:48:01.83\00:48:05.54 got what you deserved. That's not what is going 00:48:05.57\00:48:08.39 to be. In fact I have an idea Ezekiel chapter 33 00:48:08.42\00:48:11.33 verse 11 gives us some insight. Ezekiel chapter 00:48:11.36\00:48:16.05 33 and verse 11, as my soul lives says the Lord, 00:48:16.08\00:48:22.27 I have no pleasure in the death of the righteous, 00:48:22.71\00:48:27.36 is it the good people, the death of who, the wicked. 00:48:28.62\00:48:34.09 Now you tell me, you understand probation 00:48:34.25\00:48:36.66 right, what happens when a wicked person dies? 00:48:36.69\00:48:39.32 They are lost, do you realize that. God is saying 00:48:40.95\00:48:45.25 I have no pleasure in the death of the lost, but that 00:48:45.28\00:48:52.23 the wicked turn from his wicked way, turn he, 00:48:52.26\00:48:55.85 turn he, for why should you die, O house of Israel? 00:48:55.88\00:49:00.95 God is not happy to see people lost, God is not 00:49:02.47\00:49:06.17 happy to see someone reap the results of their sins. 00:49:06.20\00:49:11.47 Hosea chapter 11 verse 8, Hosea chapter 11 verse 8 00:49:13.29\00:49:18.37 shows the inter-conflict of the heart of God as he 00:49:18.40\00:49:23.41 reaches over to turn off the ventilator so to speak. 00:49:23.44\00:49:29.10 Hosea chapter 11 verse 8 says, How can I give you 00:49:30.73\00:49:34.55 up, O Ephraim? I can't do it. 00:49:34.58\00:49:39.64 Can you see the heart of God as the heart of a 00:49:41.31\00:49:46.66 father, as the heart of a mother struggling to let 00:49:46.69\00:49:52.08 go of their most precious earthly treasure. 00:49:52.11\00:49:56.67 Consider this for a moment, I don't know 00:49:59.41\00:50:03.65 what God will say, but you know sometimes 00:50:03.68\00:50:07.40 when I pronounced especially a child 00:50:07.43\00:50:09.34 and I walk out of the room and I pull the 00:50:10.53\00:50:12.53 curtain you know what I do sometimes? 00:50:12.56\00:50:14.01 I wait by the curtain and I listen, and I have heard 00:50:15.12\00:50:21.17 a dozens if not may be hundreds of times, 00:50:21.20\00:50:23.98 I listen to what their final words 00:50:24.86\00:50:27.54 are as that child dies. And it goes something 00:50:27.57\00:50:32.51 like this, and I believe that God will be the same. 00:50:32.54\00:50:37.29 I am not exactly sure what words to use, 00:50:38.03\00:50:40.06 but I can tell you the words that those parents 00:50:40.73\00:50:43.03 have used through the years. 00:50:43.62\00:50:45.49 They say goodbye our little treasure, mummy 00:50:47.59\00:50:52.91 and daddy love you so much, sissy is gonna miss 00:50:52.94\00:50:56.84 you, we are gonna miss all the things that you put 00:50:56.87\00:50:59.95 on the refrigerator, we are gonna miss your little 00:50:59.98\00:51:02.94 smile and all the joy that you brought to our home. 00:51:02.97\00:51:08.22 The doctors and nurses tried so hard, but now it's 00:51:09.16\00:51:12.79 too late, go to sleep little one, rest in peace 00:51:12.82\00:51:17.97 but God will have to say 00:51:19.65\00:51:21.22 rest forever, and you will die. 00:51:22.91\00:51:26.17 But, God will mourn as one mourns for his only child. 00:51:28.91\00:51:34.57 People who often ask me, what would happened 00:51:35.70\00:51:37.96 Tim if Eve goes and eats the fruit in the Garden of 00:51:37.99\00:51:42.95 Eden? She comes to Adam she says look 00:51:42.98\00:51:45.73 here's the fruit, take some. I am good thanks, 00:51:45.76\00:51:50.14 no, but what happened? Of course Adam is 00:51:50.17\00:51:54.45 making the decision for the human race right. 00:51:54.48\00:51:56.53 So, Eve is kind a left there, now I don't know 00:51:57.47\00:52:00.94 exactly what would happen? It seems to hint 00:52:00.97\00:52:04.53 in patriots and prophets that God who created Eve 00:52:04.85\00:52:07.95 could supply her place, what does that mean? 00:52:07.98\00:52:10.14 I don't know. But people question, but what 00:52:10.27\00:52:13.60 would happen to Eve? Do you know, I know what 00:52:13.63\00:52:15.99 happened to Eve? Eve would face the 00:52:16.02\00:52:19.22 consequences of sin, she would die and Jesus 00:52:19.25\00:52:23.64 would come to save her because he would die, 00:52:23.67\00:52:27.76 we were told in Desire of Ages. Jesus would come 00:52:27.79\00:52:30.47 to the cross to die that even one might be saved 00:52:30.50\00:52:36.74 in his Kingdom. Do you realize that? 00:52:37.48\00:52:40.53 One, but I know that, that's true for each one 00:52:41.39\00:52:46.07 of you, each one of you as parents would lay your 00:52:46.10\00:52:48.82 lives down without even thinking for what? 00:52:48.85\00:52:51.88 Of your children. Consider for a moment, 00:52:53.28\00:52:59.41 God's most touching illustration in Isaiah. 00:53:00.88\00:53:03.92 Isaiah 49, Isaiah 49 verses 14 through 16, 00:53:05.26\00:53:10.70 Isaiah 49:14-16, But Zion said, The LORD 00:53:13.13\00:53:21.16 has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me. 00:53:21.19\00:53:24.70 Have you ever felt that way? Have you felt like 00:53:24.73\00:53:26.96 your prayer just bounce off the sealing? 00:53:26.99\00:53:28.87 I felt that way before. And then God answers, 00:53:29.82\00:53:34.00 he says, Can a woman forget her nursing child 00:53:34.03\00:53:38.20 that she should not have compassion on the son of 00:53:38.23\00:53:40.62 her womb? Yes, they may forget, but I will not 00:53:40.65\00:53:46.91 forget you. Behold I have graven you, where? 00:53:47.32\00:53:51.90 On the palms of my hands and your walls are 00:53:53.03\00:53:56.13 ever before me. You know if you understand 00:53:56.16\00:53:57.72 another language, I encourage you to read 00:53:57.75\00:53:59.31 the Bible in that language. In Spanish it says, 00:53:59.34\00:54:01.85 What does it make 00:54:02.26\00:54:05.17 you think of? 00:54:05.20\00:54:07.05 doesn't it? It's like the little things your child 00:54:07.08\00:54:10.18 writes and you put on refrigerator and this is big 00:54:10.21\00:54:12.53 scribble, but if anyone tries to tell you that, 00:54:12.56\00:54:14.98 that's not you, you will argue with them no that's 00:54:15.01\00:54:17.26 me, right there. See that little line that's my hair, 00:54:17.29\00:54:20.32 yes it is. You treasure those things. 00:54:20.96\00:54:24.50 But I am gonna share something with you that 00:54:26.16\00:54:29.07 you will never forget. Because after the 00:54:29.10\00:54:32.21 thousand years God will wipe away the tears from 00:54:32.24\00:54:34.29 your eyes, how does he do that? I don't know, 00:54:34.32\00:54:36.47 how does he cause those memories to go to the 00:54:37.39\00:54:39.91 land of forgetfulness? I don't know, but he 00:54:39.94\00:54:44.08 does because you are gonna be happy after 00:54:44.11\00:54:46.08 the thousand years, but consider this when the 00:54:46.11\00:54:51.06 heavens pass away one thing remains of sin 00:54:51.09\00:54:56.70 and what is that? And where are we written? 00:54:58.01\00:55:02.61 God can't forget, God can't forget, don't you 00:55:04.32\00:55:12.40 see? Where is every human being written, 00:55:12.43\00:55:15.70 on the palms of his hands. He can't forget and have 00:55:17.53\00:55:23.48 you known a parent that's lost a child, I don't care 00:55:23.51\00:55:27.17 how well adjusted they are, I don't care how 00:55:27.20\00:55:29.32 Christian they are, they are never the same, 00:55:29.35\00:55:30.85 true or not? God will not be the same if even one 00:55:30.88\00:55:38.23 of you is not there, even one. Because you are 00:55:38.26\00:55:44.37 forever written on the palms of his hands, 00:55:44.40\00:55:48.27 the one thing that sin will leave behind is the 00:55:48.30\00:55:52.81 memory of the children he has lost. 00:55:52.84\00:55:56.84 Consider that for a moment, consider the 00:56:00.07\00:56:03.79 heart of God and when you do something will 00:56:03.82\00:56:09.60 change. Isaiah 43 verses 1 and 2 is where I will 00:56:09.63\00:56:13.73 close, Isaiah 43 verses 1 and 2, But now, thus 00:56:13.76\00:56:19.25 says the LORD, who created you, place your 00:56:19.28\00:56:21.49 name here, O Jacob And He who formed you, 00:56:21.52\00:56:25.34 O Israel, Fear not, for I have redeemed you; 00:56:25.37\00:56:28.07 I have called you by your name; here's the three 00:56:28.18\00:56:30.81 words, You are Mine. And when that happens 00:56:30.84\00:56:38.80 verse two will take place in your life. 00:56:39.26\00:56:41.39 When you pass through the waters, I'll be with 00:56:41.58\00:56:43.18 you; And through the rivers, they shall not 00:56:43.21\00:56:44.65 overflow you. When you walk through the fire, 00:56:44.68\00:56:46.82 you shall not be burned nor shall the 00:56:46.85\00:56:48.69 flame scorch you. You are invincible when 00:56:48.72\00:56:52.30 you know this because no matter what 00:56:52.33\00:56:54.83 happens something doesn't change and that is 00:56:54.86\00:56:58.68 what God thinks of you because you are mine. 00:56:58.71\00:57:05.29
