of building going on.

I have been serving a
Communication Director

for ASI, and it has been
the most amazing experience,

the most amazing blessing to me.

As a little girl I
always wanted to go traveling

around the world.
My parents had been

missionaries, my
older brother and sisters

grew up in the mission field,

and I wanted to travel
too but those opportunities

never came until last
March ASI sent me to Africa,

I went to Zambia and Tanzania.

They ask me to

unequipped for the task,

learned by trial and error.

team with my husband.

and I have been a writer,

and I have worked with
many people, who are creative

and who are known as
being very creative people.

And I know that many
of you have not concept

of what goes into
creating a video, or a painting,

or a piece of
music. It took my husband

and I probably eight
hours to create just that

minute video for you.

I had to choose
between just twenty five photos

of Africa from
thousands that I took while

I was there, and I
wanted them to represent

the package of
what Africa was like,

what it tasted
like, what it felt like,

what it smelled like.
I wanted you to feel like

can only choose a few photos.

People call this
process of making choices

and creating a visual or a

musical product, creativity.

And I have pondered
that concept of creativity

many times over the years,
and I has some convictions

about it that I like to share

with you this morning.

I have often seen
people approach a musician

or an artist and
say something like

that was such a beautiful
song, you're so gifted,

you're so
talented, and there's almost
00:09:30.94\00:09:33.47
a wistfulness in
their voices as if to say
00:09:33.50\00:09:35.68
I wish I had gifts
and talents like that.

And that has bothered
me and I tried for years
00:09:38.49\00:09:40.90
to figure out why and
I've come to this conclusion.

I believe that we as
humans don't understand

the Biblical
concept of creativity.

I think our
definition is too narrow.

Maybe we missed
the boat all together.

Let me ask you and share
this with you in the context

of this question. When
the Lord created wheat,

and then we grounded into flour,

and we made a loaf of bread.

Did the Lord look down and
say wow, what a great idea,

I never though of that.

The Bible says there is
nothing new under the sun,

that most
certainly is true with God.

I believe that we
cannot surprise him.

And I am convinced
that everyone of our actions

is one of two
things it's either creative

or destructive, and that means

we are either
building up the kingdom of God,

or we are tearing it down.

We as humans are
incapable of creating

anything out of nothing.

Does that concept

we often like to
take credit where credit

is not due, but the
simple fact is we do not create,

but we do participate
in the creative process,

convicted of this for years

but just a few
days ago I came across

this wonderful

She writes, a
human artist receives

his intelligence
from God. You could put

any word there, a human
physician, a human teacher,

a human artist receives
his intelligence from God,

he can only fashion
his work in any line

to perfection from materials

already prepared for his work.

introduce you to some friends

that I've had the
opportunity to meet

over the past year. I get
to talk to a lot of ASI members

and these are
people who are building up

the kingdom of God.
These are creative people

and first of all I
like to introduce you

to two young men I
met, I just met them
00:14:18.22\00:14:20.38
a few weeks ago at the
General Conference session,

and I interviewed them on
the Adventist Mission stage.

It was a wonderful experience,
00:14:25.97\00:14:27.42
they were so inspiring to me.
00:14:27.45\00:14:28.95
These young men
represent what we talk about,

what we heard about
last night in the sermon,

they are not normal,
and when you listen to them

share their
story, you will know why.

This is Jose
Suazo and Jesse Zwicker,

they are both twenty
four, but they met when

they were both about eighteen,

and they were
attending European Bible school.

bit about what happened

when you met and
what you are doing now.

Well at the European
Bible school we were receiving

some training, some
tools on how we as young people

could be effective missionaries,

and that when I
encountered this guy.

He is actually from Switzerland,

and God has all these
heavenly appointments,

and he helps you
meet just the right people

And so I managed
to meet this guy,

and I was telling
him about my experience

as an Adventist,
well my short experiences

as an Adventist because
I didn't have the privilege

of being born in
the precious truth

that we as Adventists have,

and so I was relating with him,

and we had the same
burden of doing mission work

and I was telling him
about this place in Honduras

where I felt that
the Lord had called me

to start doing the
work, and he would tell me

how he was inspired
to go do the same thing

in Switzerland, and I
was trying to persuade

Now this has not
always been the vision that

you had for you lives right.

Well, I grow up in Switzerland,

So I was an Adventist
and I would go to church

the things on Sabbath

but I had my own life,
I like to play the drums,

I would go all over
Germany and Switzerland

and do tours and play the
drums and playing the bass

and doing all that nice
things that I like to do

till God, he's
like, he's like come on,

do something smart you know.

So your calling,
like you said at the

general conference
session, your calling

preach the drums then.

I would always read Matthew 28,

gospel commissions, I was,

the drums on to every nation

would dream, and then suddenly

I started reading it again

and I'm like like
preach the Gospel.

I don't know how to preach
the Gospel of every nation,

how am I going
to do this you know,

I need to get some
training, so that's where

I decided I
needed to go to Norway

to this European Bible school.

In all of Switzerland
there is no mission school.

or there was no mission
school in all of Germany

and so forth. So I went
to Norway and met this guy,

an aunt sent you there, I
guess you like some of the

missionary kids
that came down from there

needed to go to school there,

so what happened there.

Well, actually
what happened is that

I was not born in
an Adventist church,

actually my
mother was evangelical.

There was only three
people that could preach

in her evangelical
church, the pastor,

another old guy and my mother.

And so we were
raised as Christians,

but we have never encountered

the wonderful truths
as we as Adventists have

and this mission trip
from this academy in the States

came over and
stayed in my aunt's camp.

My aunt is also a leader
in the evangelical church,

and she was so impressed
that these young people,

how these young
people were able to get out

of their comfort
zone, preach the Gospel,

build churches and do
all these exciting things,

and she says this
has to be something

that I want for my daughter,

so she send my cousin,
and you know how aunts are

and so my aunt goes to
my house and tells my mother

and tells my family about it,

and I felt the Holy Spirit

calling me to go to this school.

I went to the school,
I was arguing like crazy

because I did
not understand hell,

what are you talking
about, there is no hell.

There is hell, it's in
the Bible. But then I guess,

I really don't know why
they accept non-Adventist

schools, but I praise the Lord

asked me to study the Bible

amazing facts guide book

up. I could not believe

and so I accepted
the Adventist message,

I got baptized I had
to preach on the mark

intensive Bible program,

and so they teach

and then I had this
bread in almost in anger.

I could not believe that
we as Seventh-day Adventists

have the truth, have all these

wonderful precious truths,

and I have never known about it.

So I had this
burden, and so I felt

the calling from the Lord to go

and start a mission
project in Honduras,

and so I went home
and I told my parents

about everything
that had happened

and I told them you
know I am not interested

in anything
else. What I want to do

is serve the Lord. And you know

what my father told me.
He grabbed my by the shoulder

Spirit has been guiding you

and they send the mission trip,

they held the first
evangelistic campaign

in this community.
The first day the building

was packed full.
There were people that

were waiting
outside, waiting to listen

to the new truth of
the Adventist message.

In the end of the
evangelistic series

they made an altar call
and a few people stood up

to accept the Adventist message,

and to be baptized and one
of the people that stood up

believe what I was seeing.

coming with huge lists

twelve, fourteen, fifteen,

most of them on antidepressants

and they started
telling me about their stories,

and I tell you
painful, painful stories.

Stories of being
left by the spouse,

children on drugs, loneliness,

you know stories that
would keep them awake for nights

in their marriage, and
I started asking myself

you know, who is suffering more.

My friends back in

under a tree meeting on Sabbath,

just under a tree or the people

here with an
affluence. A lot of suffering

and that just was so incredible,

just to realize that
suffering is everywhere

and the ministry of
Jesus is to everyone.

led you not only to shift

what it meant to minister

we just realized something.

known as a secular place.

that it may be secular,

They're rebelling against
traditional forms of religion.

against the character
