But I am so glad that he is 00:07:09.49\00:07:13.01 putting this intellect to work for the Kingdom 00:07:13.04\00:07:15.25 of God. Aren't you? Amen. And you know what? 00:07:15.28\00:07:17.48 David has I discussed through back 00:07:17.51\00:07:21.00 of the stage I told him David you need to 00:07:21.03\00:07:22.72 the write a book. I just did he said. 00:07:22.75\00:07:25.61 We he just gave me a copy of his brand new 00:07:25.64\00:07:28.70 book and its called God in Pain. 00:07:28.73\00:07:32.04 We all know that there is a lot of evidence 00:07:32.07\00:07:34.56 that there is a living God. But apart from the 00:07:34.59\00:07:39.30 empirical evidence how we do explain 00:07:39.33\00:07:42.68 if there is so much evil some what pain 00:07:42.71\00:07:46.36 in this world. How do we explain that 00:07:46.39\00:07:49.48 God is love? Well, that's what this book 00:07:49.51\00:07:52.63 is all about and you can get this book 00:07:52.66\00:07:54.56 if you go his website for arise.com and I believe. 00:07:54.59\00:07:59.64 And if that's not correct you correct me 00:07:59.67\00:08:01.57 or it available at the ABC's stores but right 00:08:01.60\00:08:05.68 now please help me welcome David Asscherick 00:08:05.71\00:08:08.34 he is going to be speaking to us about 00:08:08.37\00:08:10.34 the friend of God. 00:08:10.37\00:08:11.57 Amen. Thank you, so much Shelly. 00:08:12.76\00:08:14.03 Alright, good morning everyone. 00:08:14.06\00:08:15.94 Good morning. Alright, my website 00:08:15.97\00:08:17.49 is ariseinstitute.com. I think if you go 00:08:17.52\00:08:19.99 to arise.com its for like elicitive. 00:08:20.02\00:08:22.40 Either that or any my through, its something 00:08:25.82\00:08:27.85 like just want to clarify for the viewing 00:08:27.88\00:08:31.39 audience ariseinstitute.com okay. Great. 00:08:31.42\00:08:34.96 Yeah I really excited about the new book just, 00:08:35.85\00:08:38.28 just wrote it. And I hope it would be a 00:08:38.31\00:08:40.34 blessing to you, I came to be a believer in Jesus 00:08:40.37\00:08:43.24 after reading the book The Great Controversy 00:08:43.27\00:08:45.78 and of course The Great Controversy 00:08:45.81\00:08:48.03 details to the history of the Christian Church. 00:08:48.06\00:08:50.35 The conflict between good and evil, 00:08:50.38\00:08:52.89 light and darkness, God and Satan 00:08:52.92\00:08:54.54 and so this, this battle and this biblical 00:08:54.57\00:08:57.78 motive have always been very near and dear 00:08:57.81\00:08:59.63 to my heart it was the thing that arrested my 00:08:59.66\00:09:01.25 attention and made Christianity credible 00:09:01.28\00:09:04.36 in my sight. It's the thing that I said that 00:09:04.39\00:09:06.40 make sense and so over the course of 00:09:06.43\00:09:09.28 last 12 years becoming a believer sort of 00:09:09.31\00:09:11.26 storing away ideas. Storing away thoughts, 00:09:11.29\00:09:13.41 storing away anecdotes and biblical illustrations 00:09:13.44\00:09:16.94 on this theme of this conflict between good and 00:09:16.97\00:09:19.02 evil. I felt it was the time for me to write a 00:09:19.05\00:09:21.65 book on it. So, that I can start articulate my 00:09:21.68\00:09:23.73 thoughts about the nature of the great controversy, 00:09:23.76\00:09:26.90 the nature of God and how do we explain that God 00:09:26.93\00:09:30.26 is so good, so loving, so beneficial in the 00:09:30.29\00:09:33.35 context of a world. That is so corrupt, 00:09:33.38\00:09:35.97 so evil, and so anyway that's the book 00:09:36.00\00:09:38.89 and I hope that you get your hands on it. 00:09:38.92\00:09:41.30 If you hear the local camp meeting it just available 00:09:41.33\00:09:42.95 right outside but for those of you that are 00:09:42.98\00:09:45.32 viewing you can get hold of it through 00:09:45.35\00:09:46.47 ariseinstitute.com. So, let's pray 00:09:46.50\00:09:48.26 together, our presentation this morning is title the 00:09:48.29\00:09:51.10 friend of God. The friend of God. 00:09:51.13\00:09:53.22 And I am so, excited about this message 00:09:53.25\00:09:55.42 it's a presentation that have been preaching 00:09:55.45\00:09:56.99 a quite little bit lately, not because 00:09:57.02\00:09:59.48 I don't have other sermons to preach but because the, 00:09:59.51\00:10:02.56 the central message of this presentation 00:10:02.59\00:10:06.53 is something that just thrills my soul every 00:10:06.56\00:10:08.34 time I preach it and I can assure you I have heard it 00:10:08.37\00:10:10.65 more than any of you. And it never 00:10:10.68\00:10:14.14 sees to through my soul not because of the 00:10:14.17\00:10:16.38 presenter, and certainly not. But because 00:10:16.41\00:10:19.40 of the content of the message and its, its, 00:10:19.43\00:10:22.39 its not new truth in the sense of being new light but 00:10:22.42\00:10:25.16 I think its definitely a new perspective on an 00:10:25.19\00:10:27.13 old truth. And so we are going to be talking about 00:10:27.16\00:10:29.36 being the friend of God. So, let's pray together. Amen. 00:10:29.39\00:10:32.54 Father in heaven, it is our great privilege 00:10:32.94\00:10:36.28 to come before you here at camp meeting 00:10:36.31\00:10:38.19 and truly these is A Pillars Event anytime 00:10:39.65\00:10:43.46 that a group of people come together and say 00:10:43.49\00:10:45.88 Sola Scriptura. Your word and your alone 00:10:45.91\00:10:49.10 father that is very much in the spirit of the 00:10:49.13\00:10:51.26 reformation, the Protestant in the reformation 00:10:51.29\00:10:53.75 and father some of us are still protesting. 00:10:53.78\00:10:55.81 Help us father to be committed absolutely 00:10:55.84\00:11:00.74 committed to this great truth of Sola Scriptura. 00:11:00.77\00:11:04.06 May we not this way by tradition, may we not 00:11:04.09\00:11:07.21 this way by culture. May we remain 00:11:07.24\00:11:09.11 resolute in our commitment to your word. 00:11:09.14\00:11:11.49 Father as we learned last night from pastor Knott, 00:11:11.52\00:11:13.39 your word is inspired but father even 00:11:13.42\00:11:17.34 more than that, it is also inspiring 00:11:17.37\00:11:19.74 and its thrills our souls. Father we are so 00:11:19.77\00:11:23.60 happy that the Bible is not dusty old dried 00:11:23.63\00:11:26.50 book of, of obsolesces but it is a book 00:11:26.53\00:11:30.45 that is absolutely relevant even 00:11:30.48\00:11:33.54 in the modern age. And father it marvels 00:11:33.57\00:11:35.63 it and boggles the mind, how can 00:11:35.66\00:11:37.18 an ancient book speaks so eloquently 00:11:37.21\00:11:39.07 and so profoundly to a modern world 00:11:39.10\00:11:41.34 and here father we have had the experience 00:11:41.37\00:11:44.12 of hearing your voice through this book 00:11:44.15\00:11:46.29 and father we come now yet again 00:11:47.08\00:11:49.29 to hear your words not through a man 00:11:49.32\00:11:52.63 so much as through the son of man and his spirit. 00:11:52.66\00:11:55.13 Father as we learned last night your, 00:11:56.11\00:11:58.25 your nature is such that you're a family 00:11:58.28\00:12:00.50 fathers son and spirit. And so, we prayed 00:12:00.53\00:12:02.76 that the third person of the God had, the 00:12:02.79\00:12:05.17 Holy Spirit would come not just into 00:12:05.20\00:12:06.67 this room but even more importantly 00:12:06.70\00:12:09.86 into our hearts. Amen. That we may resonate 00:12:09.89\00:12:13.63 with you. Father I want to claim the promise 00:12:13.66\00:12:15.00 of Roman 8,15, and 16. that the spirit 00:12:15.03\00:12:18.67 would bear witness with our spirits 00:12:18.70\00:12:20.50 and that the spirit inside of us would fly out 00:12:20.53\00:12:23.67 above father that we would know that we are 00:12:23.70\00:12:26.58 the sons and daughters of God. Amen. 00:12:26.61\00:12:29.38 Father this morning as we open your word 00:12:29.41\00:12:31.03 may you open us and may the inspiring 00:12:31.06\00:12:33.48 spirit now become the instructing spirit. 00:12:33.51\00:12:35.92 Thank you for the camp meeting we had already 00:12:35.95\00:12:38.59 and we pray that this would be not just an 00:12:38.62\00:12:40.29 opportunity just soak up and become 00:12:40.32\00:12:42.17 spiritual fact Christians. But this would be an 00:12:42.20\00:12:45.55 opportunity for us to learn that we may give 00:12:45.58\00:12:48.11 freely we have received and father may we go 00:12:48.14\00:12:50.90 from here and freely give to those around us. 00:12:50.93\00:12:53.06 Be with us now we ask in the name of 00:12:53.09\00:12:55.72 Jesus whatever you want to say. Amen. Amen. 00:12:55.75\00:12:59.10 Alright so our presentation is called 00:13:01.45\00:13:03.22 the friend of God and I want I would like to do 00:13:03.25\00:13:05.10 is to spend the first sort of 15 or 20 minutes 00:13:05.13\00:13:08.00 on taking a look at one of the grand unifying 00:13:08.03\00:13:11.60 motives or themes of scripture. Now, 00:13:11.63\00:13:14.31 students of scriptures or what we might call more 00:13:14.34\00:13:17.22 technically theologians tend to come in two flavors. 00:13:17.25\00:13:20.98 Right ice cream comes in lots of flavors in jelly belly, 00:13:21.01\00:13:23.28 jelly beans come in lots of flavors but Theologian 00:13:23.31\00:13:26.24 is tend to come in two flavors how many flavors 00:13:26.27\00:13:28.84 everyone? Two. Two flavors, one kind of the theologian 00:13:28.87\00:13:32.33 is what we call a systematician. 00:13:32.36\00:13:34.28 A systematician, what's the root word of 00:13:34.31\00:13:36.29 that systematician. System, system 00:13:36.32\00:13:38.65 or systematic. The first kind of theologian is, 00:13:38.68\00:13:41.44 is the kind of Bible student could be a 00:13:41.47\00:13:43.97 technical theological in terms of scholarly 00:13:44.00\00:13:46.08 trained academician or it could just be a 00:13:46.11\00:13:48.44 Bible student like anyone of us. Novos 00:13:48.47\00:13:50.06 theologian and so the first kind of theologian 00:13:50.09\00:13:52.37 is what's called systematician 00:13:52.40\00:13:53.85 or somebody who studies Biblical theology 00:13:53.88\00:13:56.23 and what they do is they try and 00:13:56.26\00:13:58.34 systematize the great themes of Scripture 00:13:58.37\00:14:00.90 in other words what a systematician will do is 00:14:00.93\00:14:03.07 he will began in the book of Genesis he move all the way 00:14:03.10\00:14:05.18 through the Old Testaments to Melaka then 00:14:05.21\00:14:06.82 he will go Matthew and all the way through to 00:14:06.85\00:14:08.14 Revelation. He now ask the question what are the 00:14:08.17\00:14:10.65 big themes in this book, what's the big picture 00:14:10.68\00:14:13.55 may be the easiest way to think about the 00:14:13.58\00:14:15.53 systematician is their looking through the 00:14:15.56\00:14:17.88 telescope at the big picture in case they will ask 00:14:17.91\00:14:20.92 questions like what are the central themes 00:14:20.95\00:14:23.10 what are the unifying motives of this book. 00:14:23.13\00:14:25.49 What's the big picture? That's a systematician 00:14:25.52\00:14:28.13 that's one flavor of theologian. 00:14:28.16\00:14:29.99 The other flavor of Theologian they look 00:14:30.02\00:14:32.52 not at the, at the big picture so much 00:14:32.55\00:14:35.07 as at the guess what? just take guess at the, 00:14:35.10\00:14:38.64 smaller, the smaller picture. And we call 00:14:38.67\00:14:41.33 this people exegesis. Do you heard that 00:14:41.36\00:14:43.92 term before an exegesis in fact we look right 00:14:43.95\00:14:46.48 over there in house you will see that there is a 00:14:46.51\00:14:48.20 sign above that door can anyone read that 00:14:48.23\00:14:51.35 big read sign. Yes. Yeah the fire Marshall will 00:14:51.38\00:14:54.42 be happy to hear that you can read it. It 00:14:54.45\00:14:56.16 says exit and what is that word mean. 00:14:56.19\00:14:58.55 It's means that's how you get out, 00:14:59.77\00:15:01.23 it comes from the Latin Ec which means out. 00:15:01.26\00:15:03.63 Right, exit out. The word exegesis has the 00:15:03.66\00:15:07.71 same route Ec it means out. What an 00:15:07.74\00:15:10.21 exegesis will do as supposed to looking at the big 00:15:10.24\00:15:12.81 picture like the systematicians do. 00:15:12.84\00:15:14.78 The exegesis will look at the small picture. The 00:15:14.81\00:15:17.36 exegesis will go to a single passage or a single 00:15:17.39\00:15:19.82 verse and in many cases a single word and 00:15:19.85\00:15:22.53 single conjugation of that verb or a single 00:15:22.56\00:15:25.49 context of that noun and they will ask questions like 00:15:25.52\00:15:28.52 this. Did the Apostle Paul ever used 00:15:28.55\00:15:31.41 this word in this way in any other place. 00:15:31.44\00:15:34.55 Why did he used this word and what is the extra 00:15:34.58\00:15:37.41 Biblical evidence for the best usage of this word 00:15:37.44\00:15:40.26 for rather than looking at the greater big picture 00:15:40.29\00:15:42.57 of what all scripture teachers the exegesis 00:15:42.60\00:15:44.84 looks at the individual words the individual 00:15:44.87\00:15:46.27 conjugations and the individual verses 00:15:46.30\00:15:49.84 I have to gather everyone. Now, both are on 00:15:49.87\00:15:52.02 the same team alright it is a little bit like having 00:15:52.05\00:15:53.95 your offense and your defense. 00:15:53.98\00:15:55.16 The systematicians are looking at the great 00:15:55.19\00:15:57.00 big picture the great unifying themes. 00:15:57.03\00:15:59.08 While the exegesis are looking at the 00:15:59.11\00:16:00.63 small picture and they are tend to be experts in 00:16:00.66\00:16:02.33 the Biblical languages Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. 00:16:02.36\00:16:05.51 Now, most of us who are not classically trained 00:16:05.54\00:16:09.34 as theologians are not typically exegesis. 00:16:09.37\00:16:12.40 We tend to be more systematicians 00:16:12.43\00:16:14.87 that is to say most of us look at the big 00:16:14.90\00:16:17.23 picture of scripture, we look at the 00:16:17.26\00:16:19.51 central unifying motives of scriptures and I am 00:16:19.54\00:16:22.78 very much that way. As I said last night 00:16:22.81\00:16:24.99 I don't know Hebrew and I don't know Greek. 00:16:25.02\00:16:26.92 I am still working on English. 00:16:26.95\00:16:28.49 Alright, they say that if you can speak three languages 00:16:30.10\00:16:32.84 you are trilingual. Alright you are trilingual, 00:16:32.87\00:16:34.50 if you can speak two languages 00:16:34.53\00:16:37.95 you are bilingual and you can speak 00:16:37.98\00:16:40.27 only language likely you are from the 00:16:40.30\00:16:42.66 United States. Likely you are from the 00:16:42.69\00:16:47.88 United States and so, Hebrew for me, no Greek 00:16:47.91\00:16:50.21 for me. There are Bible study towards that gives 00:16:50.24\00:16:52.52 me access to those but, but as a systematician 00:16:52.55\00:16:55.67 I tend to look when I study scripture at the big picture. 00:16:55.70\00:16:58.82 I ask questions like what this book really teach us. 00:16:58.85\00:17:01.81 If I meet a person who knows nothing 00:17:01.84\00:17:04.06 about scripture and this is happening 00:17:04.09\00:17:05.26 increasingly in a secular world, who knows 00:17:05.29\00:17:07.15 nothing about the Bible and they find 00:17:07.18\00:17:08.60 out that I am a Bible student perhaps 00:17:08.63\00:17:10.57 I am sitting on a Aeroplane reading the Bible 00:17:10.60\00:17:12.42 and they say to me, oh you read the Bible 00:17:12.45\00:17:14.00 and the conversation begins if they know 00:17:14.03\00:17:15.29 about scripture. How do I communicate 00:17:15.32\00:17:17.60 to them the basic essences of what this 00:17:17.63\00:17:19.63 book is about, what are the central 00:17:19.66\00:17:21.60 unifying themes of scripture. Now, let me just 00:17:21.63\00:17:25.07 ask you that question. Let me ask you 00:17:25.10\00:17:27.36 somebody said you want. Okay 00:17:27.39\00:17:28.37 what's this book all about? Its actually not 00:17:28.40\00:17:29.68 a single book of course its 66 books. 00:17:29.71\00:17:31.61 Its like encyclopedia. A compendium of 00:17:31.64\00:17:34.01 66 books but as somebody said you, 00:17:34.04\00:17:35.76 okay in the nut shell what is this book 00:17:35.79\00:17:38.41 about? What would you say? 00:17:38.44\00:17:39.53 Who is in-charge? Jesus who is in-charge 00:17:39.56\00:17:42.98 one like that, anybody else? Okay salvation. 00:17:43.01\00:17:48.59 Okay God's love for us. Central that's a very 00:17:48.62\00:17:51.06 good one all of them good. Anybody else? 00:17:51.09\00:17:52.63 Central unifying motive. God's character, 00:17:52.66\00:17:57.41 okay very good, God's character. Anybody else? 00:17:57.44\00:17:59.64 How to worship God? Okay, 00:18:01.07\00:18:03.03 so this are some of the, that's you 00:18:03.06\00:18:04.42 got it exactly. You have got it exactly, 00:18:04.45\00:18:05.82 this are the unifying motives 00:18:05.85\00:18:08.89 God is good, God as redeemer, God 00:18:08.92\00:18:11.78 as creator. These are some of the 00:18:11.81\00:18:13.54 central unifying themes in Scripture. 00:18:13.57\00:18:14.54 What I would like to do now is to spend about 00:18:16.73\00:18:18.39 15 minutes sort of walking as 00:18:18.42\00:18:21.04 through what is unquestionably one of 00:18:21.07\00:18:22.96 we and I would suggest may be 00:18:22.99\00:18:25.58 we great motive of scripture and so I will 00:18:25.61\00:18:28.22 going to begin as will be appropriate 00:18:28.25\00:18:30.47 as now as theologians this morning. As 00:18:30.50\00:18:32.61 systematicians we are going to be began in 00:18:32.64\00:18:34.67 the book of Genesis. So, go with me to the book 00:18:34.70\00:18:36.98 of Genesis. We gonna to see how the book begins. 00:18:37.01\00:18:39.71 So, go to Genesis Chapter 2, we spend sometime 00:18:39.74\00:18:41.86 last night in Genesis 1. Let us go now to Genesis 2. 00:18:41.89\00:18:44.46 Genesis Chapter 2, now just very quickly 00:18:45.82\00:18:51.14 my way over view you tell me 00:18:51.17\00:18:52.78 what is taking place in Genesis one and two. 00:18:52.81\00:18:55.83 Okay the creation account and what are the very first 00:18:56.94\00:19:00.38 words in Genesis 1, that God speaks. 00:19:00.41\00:19:02.81 Everybody says that, listen very carefully 00:19:02.84\00:19:06.61 to the question what are the very first words 00:19:06.64\00:19:09.42 in Genesis one that God speaks. Amen. 00:19:09.45\00:19:12.95 That to be right, very good Moses wrote 00:19:12.98\00:19:14.96 and of course he was under the inspiration of the 00:19:14.99\00:19:16.24 spirit but Moses wrote in the beginning right 00:19:16.27\00:19:18.83 but God speaks and his words are let they be 00:19:18.86\00:19:22.17 line. Okay, the picture that is presented in Genesis 00:19:22.20\00:19:24.64 Chapter 1 is a very sequential very Chronological 00:19:24.67\00:19:28.79 picture of creation. Right, it last six literal 00:19:28.82\00:19:31.79 contiguous continuous days. And so the first day, 00:19:31.82\00:19:34.79 the second day, the third day and the fourth day 00:19:34.82\00:19:37.51 extra. And God is presented as speaking 00:19:37.54\00:19:40.45 things into existence. Amen. He is presented as 00:19:40.48\00:19:43.24 what everyone. Speak. And its, its sort of 00:19:43.27\00:19:45.98 typified for us there. Right in Genesis Chapter1, 00:19:46.01\00:19:48.27 where God its almost as if this kind of over hear, 00:19:48.30\00:19:51.24 its almost as if God is here and he says 00:19:51.27\00:19:53.59 let their be light and then their suddenly is light. 00:19:53.62\00:19:58.00 But there is no light in no one's life. 00:19:58.03\00:19:59.05 And then God says let there be a firmament 00:19:59.08\00:20:01.44 in the mix of the water. There is a firmament 00:20:01.47\00:20:03.57 in the mix of the water that you find God in 00:20:03.60\00:20:05.95 Genesis Chapter 1, speaking things into existence, 00:20:05.98\00:20:08.23 let there be a greater light over all the day. 00:20:08.26\00:20:10.05 Wow! There is a sun. let there be a lesser light 00:20:10.08\00:20:12.96 overall night. There is a moon. 00:20:12.99\00:20:14.85 Let there will be stars, stars. God is 00:20:14.88\00:20:17.46 speaking things into existence. That's almost to 00:20:17.49\00:20:19.52 say this right. He would say though he 00:20:19.55\00:20:22.58 spokes on Psalm 33 verses 6 and 9. 00:20:22.61\00:20:25.03 He spoke and it was done 00:20:25.06\00:20:28.26 he commended and it stood fast. 00:20:28.29\00:20:31.99 So, what we have here is this idea that God 00:20:32.02\00:20:34.20 can just speak things into existence that the 00:20:34.23\00:20:36.45 creative energy that brings things to existence 00:20:36.48\00:20:38.96 is actually contained in the word of God. 00:20:38.99\00:20:41.84 So if the God says let there be light 00:20:41.87\00:20:43.98 there is light. There God says there would be sun, 00:20:44.01\00:20:46.10 there is a sun. let there be a moon, there is a moon. 00:20:46.13\00:20:48.05 Let there be a dry land, there is dry land. Let 00:20:48.08\00:20:49.76 there be a firmament, there is a firmament. 00:20:49.79\00:20:51.02 If David Asscherick says or if you say 00:20:51.05\00:20:54.18 by contrast, by way of contrast big pink 00:20:54.21\00:20:57.73 elephant. Nothing, right no big just a little pink 00:20:57.76\00:21:05.97 man. Right. no big pink elephant. 00:21:06.00\00:21:09.99 But the picture that is printed in Scripture 00:21:10.02\00:21:12.41 is that if God said big pink elephant there would 00:21:12.44\00:21:16.72 suddenly be a big pink elephant. This 00:21:16.75\00:21:19.70 is sort of Genesis Chapter 1, Genesis Chapter 1 00:21:19.73\00:21:23.06 is a very chronological very sequential, very 00:21:23.09\00:21:25.58 orderly treatment of creation. Genesis 1, 00:21:25.61\00:21:28.10 day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, day 5, day 6 00:21:28.13\00:21:31.43 and God has depicted has speaking things 00:21:31.46\00:21:33.81 into existence. Now, some people 00:21:33.84\00:21:35.13 who are what we might call liberal theologians 00:21:35.16\00:21:37.89 or even skeptics of scripture they would 00:21:37.92\00:21:40.78 love us to believe there is contradiction 00:21:40.81\00:21:43.42 between Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. 00:21:43.45\00:21:44.94 you might have heard this before. 00:21:44.97\00:21:45.94 All those two different creation accounts. 00:21:45.96\00:21:48.36 There is two contradictory creation accounts. 00:21:48.39\00:21:51.40 Hogwash and Poppycock. There is not 00:21:51.43\00:21:53.42 two contradictory accounts what there is 00:21:53.45\00:21:56.38 an account from one perspective which is 00:21:56.41\00:21:58.47 a sort of the sequential chronological overview 00:21:58.50\00:22:00.55 and then Genesis 2, transitions from that 00:22:00.58\00:22:02.85 sequence into a relational perspective 00:22:02.88\00:22:06.26 of creation. It sort of a recompilation 00:22:06.29\00:22:09.10 of the details from a relational perspective, okay. 00:22:09.13\00:22:13.15 Now watch what happens in Genesis chapter 2 00:22:13.18\00:22:15.41 as Moses now recompilate what he has 00:22:15.44\00:22:18.31 discussed in Genesis Chapter1 and 00:22:18.34\00:22:19.94 goes specifically to verse 7. 00:22:19.97\00:22:20.94 Go specifically to verse 7, 00:22:21.55\00:22:23.67 the Bible says Genesis Chapter 2, and verse 7 00:22:23.70\00:22:26.16 and the Lord God what does your Bible say? 00:22:26.19\00:22:28.87 Formed, formed man of the dust of the earth. 00:22:28.90\00:22:33.82 Oh! wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, 00:22:35.21\00:22:36.97 there is a change here. There is a difference 00:22:37.00\00:22:39.48 here, in Genesis chapter1, God is over the earth. 00:22:39.51\00:22:41.92 He is not aluff certainly not aluff 00:22:41.95\00:22:44.66 but he appears to be distant from creation. 00:22:44.69\00:22:47.23 He is speaking things into just let there be light, 00:22:47.26\00:22:49.56 there is light, let there firmament, 00:22:49.59\00:22:50.56 there is firmament, let there a sun, 00:22:50.57\00:22:52.67 a sun, let there be a moon. But Genesis 2, 00:22:52.70\00:22:55.69 in Genesis 2, God is not distinct 00:22:55.72\00:22:58.41 God is proximate God is not over there, 00:22:58.44\00:23:01.62 God is right here and Genesis Chapter 2 verse 7, 00:23:01.65\00:23:05.70 the Bible says that the Lord God formed 00:23:06.88\00:23:09.58 man of that what was it. Dust of ground, 00:23:09.61\00:23:12.99 of the dust of the ground, dust of the earth. 00:23:13.02\00:23:14.72 The picture here is not a God over there 00:23:14.75\00:23:16.91 speaking things to existence. The picture here 00:23:16.94\00:23:19.65 is of a God on his hands and knees 00:23:19.68\00:23:23.91 in the dirt and he is forming and fashioning 00:23:23.94\00:23:28.74 man. The picture that I give in my acetified 00:23:28.77\00:23:31.02 imagination as there is dirt under the finger nails 00:23:31.05\00:23:33.60 of God. There is, there is mud on the 00:23:33.63\00:23:37.14 pants of God if God wears pants. 00:23:37.17\00:23:39.15 God is, God is in the mud he is in the dirt 00:23:39.18\00:23:42.43 he is closed, he is intimate he is proximate, 00:23:42.46\00:23:45.40 he is involved and God is seen here not over 00:23:45.43\00:23:48.41 there but right here fashioning, forming, 00:23:48.44\00:23:51.99 sculpting he gets Adam just as he wants. 00:23:52.02\00:23:59.51 But at this point only has a sculpture. 00:24:00.55\00:24:02.79 Right at this point all he has a sculpture 00:24:03.37\00:24:06.40 this is not Adam yet this is sculpture. 00:24:06.43\00:24:08.62 This is a piece of art this is God as an artisan. 00:24:08.65\00:24:12.49 This is God as a sculpture, this is not 00:24:12.52\00:24:15.41 yet Adam. What is the next part of that 00:24:15.44\00:24:17.97 verse say? that we have got formed man of the dust 00:24:18.00\00:24:20.08 of the ground and then what did he do? 00:24:20.11\00:24:21.64 He breathed into his nostrils, 00:24:23.66\00:24:24.63 He breathed into his nostrils, 00:24:24.64\00:24:27.24 the breathe of what? He breathed into his nostrils. 00:24:28.36\00:24:31.25 We love it there a only three people on planet 00:24:31.28\00:24:33.96 earth into whose nostrils I would feel 00:24:33.99\00:24:36.63 comfortable breathing. 00:24:36.66\00:24:37.63 I am going to get that or not. There is 00:24:39.91\00:24:42.02 only three people in fact can I just borrow one of 00:24:42.05\00:24:44.91 our sound people. One of our sound people 00:24:44.94\00:24:46.59 just back there, just rush on out if you don't mind. 00:24:46.62\00:24:49.02 Come on out just for a moment 00:24:49.05\00:24:50.20 tell me your first name again. 00:24:50.23\00:24:51.46 Jonathan, Jonathan step into my office 00:24:51.49\00:24:53.28 okay. So, this is Jonathan and just this is gonna be 00:24:53.31\00:24:57.41 very helpful for some of you when your 00:24:57.44\00:25:00.14 speaking to some one you typically want to have 00:25:00.17\00:25:02.38 about arm length distance this is an, this is an 00:25:02.41\00:25:05.07 appropriate distance for your just social 00:25:05.10\00:25:07.43 interactions. So I say, hey Jonathan where are you from? 00:25:07.46\00:25:08.99 Thompsonville. You are local? 00:25:09.02\00:25:11.99 Yes. Were you born in Illinois? No. Where you born? 00:25:12.02\00:25:14.82 Oregon. Okay, so we are having, is this a normal 00:25:14.85\00:25:16.60 conversation. Okay, look at our distance. 00:25:16.63\00:25:18.72 Now watch how the dynamic changes 00:25:18.75\00:25:21.02 if I just go like this. So, where in Oregon? 00:25:21.05\00:25:27.37 Portland. Portland's. Yeah you like it there. 00:25:27.40\00:25:30.47 Yeah. Lot of rain. Yeah. And now watch how 00:25:30.50\00:25:32.90 the dynamic changes if I go like this. 00:25:32.93\00:25:34.69 So, how does it feel? Awkward, 00:25:34.72\00:25:38.56 awkward, yeah, good word, good word 00:25:38.59\00:25:40.67 feels like awkward doesn't it. 00:25:40.70\00:25:41.90 You see as well as you move closure 00:25:41.93\00:25:44.31 to something intimacy just arises. 00:25:44.34\00:25:47.11 If I am talking here, if I am talking 00:25:47.14\00:25:49.42 to somebody, by the way this is a good piece 00:25:49.45\00:25:50.99 of advice for some of you who have no sense 00:25:51.02\00:25:52.76 of social space or social personal space. 00:25:52.79\00:25:55.17 So, this is object lesson for you arms lengths. 00:25:55.20\00:25:58.49 Okay, and if you have really short arms 00:25:58.52\00:26:00.52 two arms length so it's okay. So, 00:26:00.55\00:26:02.96 this is an appropriate distance okay this is, 00:26:02.99\00:26:05.57 this is weird okay. He probably thinks 00:26:05.60\00:26:08.37 I am going to breathe into his. That's not 00:26:08.40\00:26:09.96 going to happen, okay thank you so much. 00:26:09.99\00:26:12.62 So, the point is this don't miss the basic point, 00:26:12.65\00:26:14.99 the Bible, the Bible in Genesis chapter 1 has 00:26:15.02\00:26:18.57 God here let There be light, there is light, 00:26:18.60\00:26:20.78 let there is a sun, there is a sun, 00:26:20.81\00:26:21.78 Let there a moon, there is moon, 00:26:21.79\00:26:22.77 Let be the firmament there is a firmament. 00:26:22.80\00:26:24.12 But in Genesis Chapter 2, Moses turns the 00:26:24.15\00:26:26.97 corner he recompliates from a relational perspective 00:26:27.00\00:26:29.46 and he says the Lord God formed man 00:26:29.49\00:26:31.74 here's man not over there but right here. 00:26:31.77\00:26:34.78 He is in the, he is the dust. He is forming 00:26:34.81\00:26:37.55 and fashioning man. Dirt under the finger 00:26:37.58\00:26:40.49 nails, dirt on the knees, he is involved in this thing 00:26:40.52\00:26:43.66 there is intimacy here. There is proximity here, 00:26:43.69\00:26:46.40 there is investment here and then 00:26:46.43\00:26:48.05 when he has got all sculpted. 00:26:48.08\00:26:49.99 The Bible says he in my sanctified imagination he 00:26:51.63\00:26:54.82 grabs him the chick. He sculpture. 00:26:54.85\00:26:58.76 He breathe into his nostrils Adam brings to 00:27:00.29\00:27:07.47 life. Now, question as Adam brings to live 00:27:07.50\00:27:11.47 what then would be the very first thing 00:27:11.50\00:27:15.92 he would see. What would be his first 00:27:15.95\00:27:17.20 conscious movements. The uninterrupted 00:27:17.23\00:27:22.70 non interposed non obfuscated face of God. 00:27:22.73\00:27:28.69 Amen. Amen. In my sanctified imagination 00:27:29.75\00:27:31.62 God kinds of leans back. 00:27:31.65\00:27:33.53 Welcome my son to life. Amen. 00:27:35.21\00:27:38.92 In Genesis Chapter 2, we see a God who 00:27:39.94\00:27:42.15 is close to humanity, we see a God who 00:27:42.18\00:27:44.84 is with humanity in the most emphatic sense 00:27:44.87\00:27:47.41 I mean he is so with humanity that there 00:27:47.44\00:27:49.46 is dirt under the finger nails, 00:27:49.49\00:27:50.73 there is mud on the knees and he is 00:27:50.76\00:27:53.22 breathing into his nostrils. There is a 00:27:54.95\00:27:58.35 closeness here there is a connection here. 00:27:58.38\00:28:00.25 Are you get together everyone. 00:28:00.28\00:28:01.29 Yeah. Okay now go with me to the first book of 00:28:01.32\00:28:03.27 the New Testament. First book of the New Testament, 00:28:03.30\00:28:05.40 well we being good systematicians this morning 00:28:05.43\00:28:07.24 we are looking at a central motive of scripture. 00:28:07.27\00:28:10.25 A unifying motive of scripture we 00:28:10.28\00:28:12.31 go to Matthew chapter 1. Now, in Matthew 00:28:12.34\00:28:14.16 Chapter 1, there is woman who is 00:28:14.19\00:28:15.65 pregnant she doesn't know how what's 00:28:15.68\00:28:16.95 her name? her name is Mary 00:28:16.98\00:28:19.02 and an angel appears to her and says Mary 00:28:19.05\00:28:20.67 you can have a Baby she says ah! ah! 00:28:20.70\00:28:22.22 How is that can happen saying I am not 00:28:22.25\00:28:23.84 yet married. And she says you have a 00:28:23.87\00:28:25.62 child because the power of the spirit will 00:28:25.65\00:28:26.92 always share you and then the angel says 00:28:26.95\00:28:28.95 and you call his name Jesus you assure. 00:28:28.98\00:28:30.79 For he will save this people from their sins 00:28:30.82\00:28:32.90 and then two verses later that verse 21. 00:28:32.93\00:28:34.43 Two verses later it was 23, the angel 00:28:34.46\00:28:36.82 and Matthew recording in, in thankful 00:28:36.85\00:28:39.58 in Matthew fashion. He is recording this from 00:28:39.61\00:28:43.26 the book of Isaiah and the angel extracts the 00:28:43.29\00:28:47.03 passage from the book of Isaiah of course the 00:28:47.06\00:28:48.81 cauterization of versification 00:28:48.84\00:28:49.89 was at many centuries later book that's 00:28:49.92\00:28:51.62 that's what we would call Isaiah 7:14, 00:28:51.65\00:28:53.56 Isaiah Chapter 7 verse 14 and this is 00:28:53.59\00:28:56.15 a originally prophecy that was 00:28:56.18\00:28:57.38 geared toward Isaiah son. 00:28:57.41\00:28:59.34 God, this the time of greater prophecy 00:28:59.86\00:29:02.09 and great delinquency in Israel 00:29:02.12\00:29:03.88 and God says okay, okay, you think I am 00:29:03.91\00:29:05.81 abundant you Isaiah you will have a son 00:29:05.84\00:29:08.32 and you will call his name. Immanuel. 00:29:08.35\00:29:11.65 God is still with us when its original permutation 00:29:11.68\00:29:15.31 this idea of Immanuel that was Isaiah 00:29:15.34\00:29:18.13 son's but here the angel Gabriel and Matthew was 00:29:18.16\00:29:21.04 recording takes that Immanuel and applies this to 00:29:21.07\00:29:24.05 new Oshawa, his name will be Oshawa he will 00:29:24.08\00:29:26.45 save this people from their sins but 00:29:26.48\00:29:29.41 in a fuller sense he will also be Immanuel. 00:29:29.44\00:29:33.44 God with us, originally applied to Isaiah son 00:29:34.37\00:29:38.07 now when it is most full and robust context 00:29:38.10\00:29:41.23 applied to Jesus. And you have notice 00:29:41.26\00:29:45.61 no doubt because your students of Scripture. 00:29:45.64\00:29:47.14 Good novice theologians, you have noticed 00:29:47.17\00:29:49.34 that there are many names in Scriptures 00:29:49.37\00:29:51.69 that either begin with or end with EL, 00:29:51.72\00:29:54.11 right so have like the name Elijah, 00:29:54.14\00:29:56.89 right and what it means El from what we learned 00:29:56.92\00:29:59.26 last night, Elokin, Elijah means jah or ya 00:29:59.29\00:30:03.20 is God. Elijah he sometimes have it as prefix Elijah, 00:30:03.23\00:30:09.08 Elijah you sometimes have it suffix 00:30:09.11\00:30:10.88 Methanuel, el methanuel gift of God, 00:30:10.91\00:30:15.38 Samuel asked of God. Daniel, 00:30:15.41\00:30:21.07 God is my judge or God judges 00:30:21.10\00:30:24.10 and in this case Immanuel the IM im coming from the 00:30:24.13\00:30:27.86 Hebrew with and El elohim Immanuel 00:30:27.89\00:30:31.89 God with us, God next to us. 00:30:31.92\00:30:38.11 Hey this is very much like Genesis Chapter 2, 00:30:38.14\00:30:40.01 in Genesis 1 we got a speaking things into 00:30:40.04\00:30:42.86 existence let there will be light, there is a light, 00:30:42.89\00:30:44.02 let there be a sun, there is sun let there be 00:30:44.05\00:30:45.05 a moon is a moon. In Genesis chapter 2, 00:30:45.08\00:30:46.92 the Lord got formed man at the dust of the 00:30:46.95\00:30:49.38 earth he is with man. He is what everyone. 00:30:49.41\00:30:52.44 Amen. He is with man but there is rupture 00:30:52.47\00:30:55.97 there is breaking in here in this relationship 00:30:56.00\00:30:58.58 we call that rupture sin or rebellion obscene 00:30:58.61\00:31:01.16 and transgression, whatever you but, 00:31:01.19\00:31:02.50 but there is reason that man is separated 00:31:02.53\00:31:04.87 from God. Notice very carefully the language 00:31:04.90\00:31:06.97 here. God is not separated from man. 00:31:07.00\00:31:08.87 So, much man is separated from God. 00:31:08.90\00:31:10.45 Wasn't God that one fleeing in the garden 00:31:10.48\00:31:11.81 it was man that he was fleeing the Garden. 00:31:11.84\00:31:12.81 Man is someone who is hiding and covering 00:31:12.82\00:31:15.23 behind the bush, its God who those looking. 00:31:15.26\00:31:17.49 And so never forget that we love it. 00:31:17.52\00:31:19.25 The Bible says in the book of Isaiah. 00:31:19.28\00:31:20.47 Isaiah Chapter 59, your sins have separated 00:31:20.50\00:31:23.19 you from your God. Your sins do not 00:31:23.22\00:31:26.82 push God away from you they push you 00:31:26.85\00:31:29.39 away from God. God has a looked right, if try to 00:31:29.42\00:31:32.97 move this piano right if its firm, it is firm. 00:31:33.00\00:31:35.81 If, if I try to move this piano right just 00:31:35.84\00:31:39.06 pretend like it's a car that's even 00:31:39.09\00:31:40.86 better or a huge boulder right. 00:31:40.89\00:31:42.79 And if I push with all of my mine against this thing 00:31:42.82\00:31:45.29 something is going to move. Yeah it will be 00:31:45.32\00:31:48.79 me right. if I push with all of my power I will, 00:31:48.82\00:31:51.63 this is what our sin does. Our sin does not 00:31:51.66\00:31:53.97 push God away. So, God is movable it is a movable, 00:31:54.00\00:31:55.95 our sin pushes us away from God, your sins 00:31:55.98\00:32:01.02 are separated your God. It was Adam who 00:32:01.05\00:32:03.77 ran in garden not God. Amen. It was not 00:32:03.80\00:32:06.47 God that went seeking are we together everyone. 00:32:06.50\00:32:08.73 And so there is distance here, there is, there is 00:32:08.76\00:32:12.00 fracture here and yet, yet the angel 00:32:12.03\00:32:15.10 says to that Mary. You have a baby 00:32:15.13\00:32:18.26 and he is gonna save this people from 00:32:18.29\00:32:19.99 their sins in fact you will call his name Immanuel. 00:32:20.02\00:32:25.68 God what is it? God with us, God with us. 00:32:25.71\00:32:31.41 John has put in this way in the first part of his Gospel. 00:32:31.44\00:32:33.72 John Chapter 1, the word became flesh and 00:32:33.75\00:32:35.78 dwelt among us, literally pitched his tent next to us 00:32:35.81\00:32:40.02 in modern colloquial language we will say he 00:32:40.05\00:32:43.50 moved into the neighborhood. God came be 00:32:43.53\00:32:46.75 with us. Now, its good systematicians 00:32:46.78\00:32:49.13 who rapt at this part of presentation that 00:32:49.16\00:32:50.86 I am going to Revelation chapter 21. 00:32:50.89\00:32:52.39 Revelation chapter 21 is not only 00:32:52.42\00:32:55.24 the climax of the new testament but in a, 00:32:55.27\00:32:57.46 in a very real sense it's a climax of all of scripture 00:32:57.49\00:33:00.38 I heard say that wisely once. 00:33:00.41\00:33:01.97 Why is the book of revelation at the end of the 00:33:02.00\00:33:04.14 Bible simple because you need the rest of the 00:33:04.17\00:33:06.08 Bible to understand it. Amen. 00:33:06.11\00:33:07.81 Its at the end of Bible because you need 00:33:07.84\00:33:09.79 write everything else to get to the place where you 00:33:09.82\00:33:12.06 can understand what is this book all about. 00:33:12.09\00:33:14.18 So, in revelation chapter 21, here is John 00:33:14.21\00:33:16.57 and he is on the Island. He is on an island 00:33:16.60\00:33:18.28 the name of the island is Patmos and what's 00:33:18.31\00:33:21.35 he doing there? He is on vacation? 00:33:21.38\00:33:25.02 He is in exile, he is in exile because he was 00:33:25.73\00:33:28.68 preaching fearlessly the word of God. 00:33:28.71\00:33:29.98 He says he was there for the testimony of 00:33:30.01\00:33:31.26 Jesus and the word of God and so, what it 00:33:31.29\00:33:33.50 happened is Roman emperor named Domitian, 00:33:33.53\00:33:35.31 who didn't like Christians had taken John 00:33:35.34\00:33:36.81 and thrown him to caldron of boiling oil. 00:33:36.84\00:33:39.11 Right they put lid on and it is like cooking 00:33:40.44\00:33:42.54 enough for the last of the apostles has 00:33:42.57\00:33:44.16 gone and now all is well. They gonna lift 00:33:44.19\00:33:46.24 of the caldron to see how the cooking is going, 00:33:46.27\00:33:48.92 here is John just oh! yeah the jet seems 00:33:48.95\00:33:54.39 not be working on the right side could you. 00:33:54.42\00:33:56.68 Do you have Lemon, not being see which, but 00:33:58.89\00:34:00.44 you get the point. He couldn't be killed 00:34:00.47\00:34:02.05 and Domitian oh! you know this guy can't be 00:34:02.08\00:34:04.05 killed and so what they did is. They 00:34:04.08\00:34:05.41 took John over here, well, this guy may 00:34:05.44\00:34:07.31 just nervous if we can't kill him we will put on an 00:34:07.34\00:34:08.85 island and we put him on a penal colony 00:34:08.88\00:34:10.85 called Patmos, which was 24 miles out 00:34:10.88\00:34:16.68 into the Aegean sea and they left him 00:34:16.71\00:34:19.20 there for death. They exile him, he was the 00:34:19.23\00:34:21.53 last living apostle don't you know how 00:34:21.56\00:34:22.63 old was probably in his 60's, 70's , may be 00:34:22.66\00:34:24.37 even in 80's and he is there and lastly apostles 00:34:24.40\00:34:27.38 has gone and the Roman Empire can kind of 00:34:27.41\00:34:29.44 wash there hands from apostolic Christianity 00:34:29.47\00:34:31.62 but here's the problem. God has set 00:34:31.65\00:34:34.04 his whole thing up so that on the island of 00:34:34.07\00:34:35.80 Patmos Jesus gives the fullest manifestation 00:34:35.83\00:34:38.21 and the fullest revelation, the fullest revelation 00:34:38.24\00:34:43.87 of himself to this last apostle who would have 00:34:43.90\00:34:45.84 certainly being attempted to discouragement. 00:34:45.87\00:34:47.55 He would intimated men and call 00:34:47.58\00:34:49.37 everything it is near and dear to him has gone. 00:34:49.40\00:34:51.05 He is separated from it. He would look out 00:34:51.08\00:34:53.32 lady on the best of the days those of you live. I 00:34:53.35\00:34:55.36 live in California and the very best of days 00:34:55.39\00:34:57.18 if you look out across the seaboard as long as the 00:34:57.21\00:34:59.94 clarity there is not a lot of fog. You can look 00:34:59.97\00:35:02.17 out and you can see on total about 40 miles. 00:35:02.20\00:35:04.34 About 40 miles so and the best of days being 00:35:05.35\00:35:07.37 24 miles out into the ocean. John could have 00:35:07.40\00:35:09.56 looked he could have seen lands, but he struck 00:35:09.59\00:35:13.67 here may be the old man is not swimming 24 miles. 00:35:13.70\00:35:16.00 So, look at there John concludes in the book of 00:35:17.58\00:35:19.82 Revelation, Revelation chapter 21, being verse 1 00:35:19.85\00:35:21.74 now I saw a new heaven and the new earth. 00:35:21.77\00:35:23.29 For the first heaven and first earth was passed way 00:35:23.32\00:35:26.10 and also there was no more sea but that's always being 00:35:26.13\00:35:30.31 troubling to some of us. We thought no more sea well I 00:35:30.34\00:35:33.23 kind like dolphins in the purposes in manatees and 00:35:33.26\00:35:35.61 the coral reefs. Half of biological life exist 00:35:35.64\00:35:38.65 under water more than half of biological life. 00:35:38.68\00:35:40.96 its someone like oh no there is not gonna be 00:35:40.99\00:35:43.07 an ocean I need to do all of my snorkeling in 00:35:43.10\00:35:44.95 the here now because their won't 00:35:44.98\00:35:45.96 be any in the new earth. 00:35:45.99\00:35:46.96 I don't think that God is making here, I don't 00:35:46.97\00:35:49.95 think that John is making here primarily 00:35:49.98\00:35:51.53 a geological or geographical statement there was 00:35:51.56\00:35:54.14 no more sea. For John the sea was that was 00:35:54.17\00:35:57.20 separated him from that what he loved 00:35:57.23\00:35:59.44 and he longed for. And John Jesus you 00:35:59.47\00:36:01.76 have in this new earth and, and he says there is no 00:36:01.79\00:36:04.45 more sea not primarily a geological or 00:36:04.48\00:36:06.81 geographical statement but a statement about the 00:36:06.84\00:36:09.23 nature of separation. Amen. There will be no 00:36:09.26\00:36:12.29 more separating sea because for John day in 00:36:12.32\00:36:14.65 and day out the sea is what separated him from that 00:36:14.68\00:36:16.66 which he loved and he says there is no more sea, 00:36:16.69\00:36:18.97 no more separation verse 2, then I John saw the 00:36:19.00\00:36:22.12 Holy city new Jerusalem coming down 00:36:22.15\00:36:23.69 out of heaven from God prepared as a bright 00:36:23.72\00:36:25.98 adore for her husband. 00:36:26.01\00:36:27.06 There is no more intimate context its impossible 00:36:27.09\00:36:31.26 to be more intimate than the intimacy that a man 00:36:31.29\00:36:33.73 can share with his wife. In fact this intimacy 00:36:33.76\00:36:35.84 is so profound and so robust that in the book of 00:36:35.87\00:36:37.96 Genesis it goes apart to say that two shall 00:36:37.99\00:36:40.95 be one. There is proximity there in, intercourse, 00:36:40.98\00:36:44.58 there is proximity there, there is connectivity 00:36:44.61\00:36:46.84 there that is so close that is it is as if the two 00:36:46.88\00:36:50.31 become accord. The two become one 00:36:50.53\00:36:53.44 and John uses this immitari, he knows 00:36:53.47\00:36:55.42 the intimacy between a father and his, and 00:36:55.45\00:36:57.84 his between a husband and his wife this is what 00:36:57.87\00:37:00.04 I was demonstrating there for a moment I am not 00:37:00.07\00:37:02.02 breathing into anyone's nostrils but I breath into 00:37:02.05\00:37:04.03 my wife. There is an intimacy there, there is 00:37:04.06\00:37:06.97 closeness there and he says prepared as a 00:37:07.00\00:37:09.16 bright adore for her husband and you know 00:37:09.19\00:37:10.98 this is the point he is making because look 00:37:11.01\00:37:13.09 at verse 3. So, if you can pick up the 00:37:13.12\00:37:14.72 key verse, that occurs, the key word the key 00:37:14.75\00:37:16.95 idea that whole think on which the whole verse 00:37:16.98\00:37:18.77 turns is right there in verse 3, see if you can pick it 00:37:18.80\00:37:21.19 up verse 3, And I have heard loud voice from 00:37:21.22\00:37:23.04 heaven saying behold the Tabernacle of God 00:37:23.07\00:37:24.83 with men and he will draw with them and they shall be 00:37:24.86\00:37:27.63 his people and God himself will be with them and 00:37:27.66\00:37:30.05 be their God. What's the Key thing? Amen. 00:37:30.08\00:37:32.15 With, with, he doesn't say once or twice 00:37:32.18\00:37:36.96 but thrice three times it is if he is just 00:37:36.99\00:37:40.15 consumed with this idea. God will be with us, 00:37:40.18\00:37:42.81 God will be with us, God will be with us, 00:37:42.84\00:37:47.58 In fact in Revelation Chapter 22, look at verse 4, 00:37:47.61\00:37:51.00 and they shall see his face. Amen. That 00:37:51.76\00:37:57.21 intimacy that proximity that was their in 00:37:57.24\00:37:59.36 Genesis Chapter 2 verse 7 the Lord got breathe 00:37:59.39\00:38:01.19 into his nostril the breath of what? 00:38:01.22\00:38:03.44 the uninterrupted, uninterposed, non-obfuscated 00:38:03.47\00:38:06.52 face of God. Paul had said on earlier occasion 00:38:06.55\00:38:10.30 when he was riding to the Church Corinthians 00:38:10.33\00:38:11.59 now we see through a glass darkly; but then, 00:38:11.62\00:38:14.31 face to face. John says they will see 00:38:14.34\00:38:18.94 his faith this relationship of intimacy restored 00:38:18.97\00:38:23.67 and this word just comes to him, comes to him, 00:38:23.70\00:38:26.11 comes to him, with us, with us, with, with 00:38:26.14\00:38:29.85 and so it was good systematicians this morning. 00:38:29.88\00:38:32.80 Look at what we have done. We have found one 00:38:32.83\00:38:34.32 of the unifying motives in scriptures. 00:38:34.35\00:38:36.32 We can go to many other dozens even hundreds of 00:38:36.35\00:38:39.12 passages but what we have done Genesis Chapter 2, 00:38:39.15\00:38:42.31 we find God with men, close to men 00:38:42.34\00:38:46.44 breathing into his nostrils forming him 00:38:46.47\00:38:48.48 dirt under the figure nails dirt on his knees. 00:38:48.51\00:38:50.80 We come Matthew chapter 1 God Immanuel 00:38:50.83\00:38:53.65 will be what? with us in the climax of 00:38:53.68\00:38:56.53 scripture in the climax of the new testament with, 00:38:56.56\00:38:59.09 with, with no more separating sea we will see 00:38:59.12\00:39:02.72 his face and so we would say one of the grand 00:39:02.75\00:39:04.53 unifying motives in scripture is that apparently. 00:39:04.56\00:39:08.71 God wants to be with people. Amen. Amen. 00:39:08.74\00:39:14.87 God wants to be with people, it shouldn't really 00:39:14.90\00:39:22.92 come as surprise to us because it is to be 00:39:22.95\00:39:24.37 learned last night God by his nature 00:39:24.40\00:39:26.10 not just his character. 00:39:26.13\00:39:27.10 God by his nature he is a social being, father, 00:39:27.11\00:39:31.37 son and Holy Spirit and he makes other beings 00:39:31.40\00:39:35.06 in the very same way that we make children. 00:39:35.09\00:39:36.70 In the very same context we make children so 00:39:36.73\00:39:38.90 that are our social network and our love can 00:39:38.93\00:39:42.32 flow out to them. God makes others and he invites 00:39:42.35\00:39:45.07 us to participate in his try own love what you have 00:39:45.10\00:39:47.79 here is this marvelous picture that God 00:39:47.82\00:39:50.43 he wants to be with people. And there is 00:39:50.46\00:39:53.97 something that separates there is a transgression that 00:39:54.00\00:39:55.75 is obsceneness there is rebellion 00:39:55.78\00:39:57.44 but God penetrates that rebellion. He 00:39:57.47\00:39:59.42 penetrates that sin and he comes and he will 00:39:59.45\00:40:02.03 build the bridge at all cost to himself 00:40:02.06\00:40:04.11 he wants to be with people and the Bible 00:40:04.14\00:40:06.01 closes with John saying an almost ecstasy 00:40:06.04\00:40:09.17 he will be with him. Hee, wow he will be with him, 00:40:09.20\00:40:13.40 he will be with him. We will see his face 00:40:13.43\00:40:17.46 so one of the certifying central unifying motives 00:40:20.60\00:40:23.36 of scripture is that God likes people. Amen. 00:40:23.39\00:40:29.92 God likes people. We together everyone. Amen. 00:40:29.95\00:40:36.98 Now, we make a distention in our cheeky clever 00:40:37.01\00:40:41.91 little manipulation of English language 00:40:41.94\00:40:43.81 all of us have done it why I shouldn't say. 00:40:43.84\00:40:45.52 Most of us have done. I know I have certain 00:40:45.55\00:40:47.40 down and we will say things like this. 00:40:47.43\00:40:49.81 Oh! don't get me wrong I love him. 00:40:49.84\00:40:54.43 But I don't like him have you ever said 00:40:55.72\00:41:03.62 anything that can came to that. 00:41:03.65\00:41:05.17 Yes some of them are seeing here like no 00:41:06.87\00:41:08.74 I don't know what he is talking about 00:41:08.77\00:41:10.21 you are lying. We make distinction don't we, 00:41:11.63\00:41:17.99 we make a distinction we will say I love somebody, 00:41:18.02\00:41:21.28 out of kind of duty a kind of familial duty 00:41:21.31\00:41:25.18 oh yes, yes, yes. I love him. But the real question is 00:41:25.21\00:41:29.48 do you like him and we make a distinction 00:41:29.51\00:41:31.90 don't we do we make a distinction between loving 00:41:31.93\00:41:33.93 someone and liking someone. Indeed we do 00:41:33.96\00:41:36.92 in fact let me just introduce you a kind of radical 00:41:36.95\00:41:40.02 concept here. God loves you. Amen. Amen. 00:41:40.05\00:41:45.55 Many of us are comfortable with that idea 00:41:45.58\00:41:47.02 that God loves us but here something to 00:41:47.05\00:41:49.21 think about a question for about theologians. 00:41:49.24\00:41:52.85 Is there anything that you can do make 00:41:52.88\00:41:54.68 God love you anymore. No, no, oh come on 00:41:54.71\00:41:57.74 now, nothing what about become a vegan, 00:41:57.77\00:42:01.31 yeah, yeah, now I am speaking he was vegan here, 00:42:06.22\00:42:10.56 ah, ah, no your exactly right no. 00:42:10.59\00:42:12.90 and okay so then the converse of that is 00:42:12.93\00:42:15.14 anything you can do to make God love you 00:42:15.17\00:42:16.36 any less. No, okay so than the language 00:42:16.39\00:42:18.93 that we use what's the word that we use for that. 00:42:18.96\00:42:20.43 We say the Gods love is what's that word. 00:42:20.46\00:42:22.19 We say that God's love is unconditional now what that 00:42:22.22\00:42:24.88 means is this? God's love for you is not 00:42:24.91\00:42:28.03 conditioned on your response to that love. Amen. 00:42:28.06\00:42:30.89 Right so you may respond to God's love 00:42:30.92\00:42:33.23 if any positive way and God does love you 00:42:33.26\00:42:35.25 anymore for it and you may respond, respond to 00:42:35.28\00:42:37.83 God's love in any negative way and God's does not 00:42:37.86\00:42:39.68 love you less way. God's love for you is 00:42:39.71\00:42:41.65 perfectly unconditional it is not predicated 00:42:41.68\00:42:43.78 in your response to his love. Can you say Amen to that? 00:42:43.81\00:42:46.07 Now, that one love that is very, very comforting 00:42:46.10\00:42:48.37 and one love that's very comforting there is nothing 00:42:48.40\00:42:50.20 I can do make God love me anymore and there is 00:42:50.23\00:42:51.53 nothing I can do make God love any less 00:42:51.56\00:42:53.44 God's love is perfectly non-partisain but here 00:42:53.47\00:42:56.67 something very interesting to think about I am 00:42:56.70\00:42:57.90 looking down here in the front row and 00:42:57.93\00:42:59.06 I see very different people, very different people. 00:42:59.09\00:43:00.92 If God loves you sister just like he loves this man, 00:43:00.95\00:43:03.70 just like he loves this man and this sister. 00:43:03.73\00:43:05.70 If God loves you all the same but wait a minute you 00:43:05.73\00:43:08.28 have very different person in this man. 00:43:08.31\00:43:10.37 So, God's love for you unconditional after you 00:43:10.40\00:43:13.93 tells me a great deal about God but it doesn't 00:43:13.96\00:43:17.64 tell me a lot about your personality as distinct 00:43:17.67\00:43:20.03 from his personality and it doesn't tell me a lot about 00:43:20.06\00:43:22.40 his personality as distinct from her personality 00:43:22.43\00:43:25.22 do you hear where this is going. 00:43:25.25\00:43:27.08 Gods love for us is unconditional offer 00:43:27.11\00:43:30.03 and shows us a deal about God but as individuals 00:43:30.06\00:43:33.02 it doesn't tell us a lot about the personality 00:43:33.05\00:43:34.91 that you process as approach to the personality that 00:43:34.94\00:43:37.42 you process it's a two different people 00:43:37.45\00:43:39.53 what's your name. Dean, Dean, and your name? 00:43:39.56\00:43:44.04 John, Dean and John are two different people 00:43:44.07\00:43:46.98 God loves John in the very same way the loves Dean 00:43:47.01\00:43:49.39 and just as much God loves Dean he loves John are 00:43:49.42\00:43:51.54 we together. So, this is largely a commentary 00:43:51.57\00:43:53.92 on God on God's Goodness and God's munificians, 00:43:53.95\00:43:57.24 and God's non-partisan unconditional love 00:43:57.27\00:43:59.23 it don't tell us the whole lot about Dean or John 00:43:59.26\00:44:01.59 as individuals. If God can love totally different 00:44:01.62\00:44:06.72 people radically fundamentally 00:44:06.75\00:44:08.15 different people in the very same way. 00:44:08.18\00:44:09.97 This tells us as a great deal about the non-partisan 00:44:10.00\00:44:12.06 and non conditional love of God. But it doesn't tell 00:44:12.09\00:44:13.76 you a lot of about your personality. 00:44:13.79\00:44:15.39 So, here is my question does God ever say 00:44:15.42\00:44:18.05 things like we say oh don't get me wrong 00:44:18.08\00:44:20.91 I love Dean. But I don't really like him. 00:44:20.94\00:44:25.87 Yes God loves us, this is a profound commentary 00:44:28.82\00:44:32.65 on the nonpartisan nature of God and love of God. 00:44:32.68\00:44:35.21 But does God like us? Well, for answer to 00:44:35.24\00:44:42.25 that question turn up your Bible to 00:44:42.28\00:44:43.69 2nd Chronicles, Chapter 20. 00:44:43.72\00:44:45.44 Second Chronicles, Chapter what everyone, 00:44:45.47\00:44:47.93 20, Second Chronicles, Chapter 20 00:44:47.96\00:44:50.35 and here we find a man by the name of Jehoshaphat. 00:44:51.95\00:44:53.90 What's his name everyone. Jehoshaphat, 00:44:53.93\00:44:56.22 Jehoshaphat, you know you mean people of Bible names 00:44:56.25\00:44:57.49 all the time. Amen. 00:45:11.23\00:45:14.46 Jehoshaphat is praying Jehoshaphat has 00:45:16.80\00:45:18.76 concerned because the armies of Israel 00:45:18.79\00:45:20.64 are encroaching on Israel. The Ammonites, 00:45:20.67\00:45:22.74 and Edomites, are coming against Israel 00:45:22.77\00:45:24.37 Jehoshaphat is deadly concerned 00:45:24.40\00:45:25.76 and so he stands in front of Israel 00:45:25.79\00:45:27.95 and he prays the prayer and I want you to 00:45:27.98\00:45:28.95 notice this prayer and there is seamless 00:45:28.96\00:45:30.84 transition that takes place in this prayer 00:45:30.87\00:45:32.63 Second Chronicles, Chapter 20 the beginning verse 5, 00:45:32.66\00:45:35.02 when Jehoshaphat stood in the of Assembly 00:45:35.05\00:45:36.72 of Judo in Jerusalem in the house of 00:45:36.75\00:45:38.75 the Lord before the new court and said 00:45:38.78\00:45:40.52 now watch this verse 6, oh Lord God of our 00:45:40.55\00:45:43.02 father's are you not God in heaven and you 00:45:43.05\00:45:46.00 not rule over all the kingdom of earth 00:45:46.03\00:45:48.44 and in your hand is there not power and might 00:45:48.47\00:45:51.76 so that no one is able with stand you or you not 00:45:51.79\00:45:54.60 our God who drove out the inhabitance of this land 00:45:54.63\00:45:56.81 for your people Israel and gave it to 00:45:56.84\00:45:59.24 the ascendance of Abraham 00:45:59.27\00:46:02.88 and then three qualifying words. 00:46:02.91\00:46:05.40 Your friend forever notice this seamless 00:46:06.30\00:46:12.85 transition in Jehoshaphat prayer as he is praying 00:46:12.88\00:46:15.46 he makes the sense God your awesome, 00:46:15.49\00:46:16.95 God your omnipotent, God your mighty 00:46:16.98\00:46:19.13 no one with stand and they notice the 00:46:19.16\00:46:21.66 seamless transition and don't forget about 00:46:21.69\00:46:24.10 Abraham your buddy. For, for, for 00:46:24.13\00:46:29.15 Jehoshaphat there is no contradiction between 00:46:29.18\00:46:31.49 God is sovereign, God is mighty, God is powerful, 00:46:31.52\00:46:34.33 God is strong and God as a friend of people. 00:46:34.36\00:46:38.34 Notice this language here friend I just presented this 00:46:38.37\00:46:41.22 sermon last of this fall this last Sabbath at, 00:46:41.25\00:46:43.93 at the Reaching Hearts International Church, there 00:46:43.96\00:46:46.38 in near Washington D.C. and my good friend 00:46:46.41\00:46:49.01 Clifford Goldstein he came right up to me 00:46:49.04\00:46:51.21 after he, is it Jew and he came up to me 00:46:51.24\00:46:53.48 afterward and he flew into Hebrew and he 00:46:53.51\00:46:55.85 said to be me. He said David the word here for 00:46:55.88\00:46:57.58 friend it, it it's it can even lover. 00:46:57.61\00:47:01.49 You gave it to Abraham your lover 00:47:02.55\00:47:05.71 forever your friend forever now wait a minute I 00:47:05.74\00:47:10.09 was scratching my head God has friend 00:47:10.12\00:47:12.76 the infinite, illimitable, eternal, omnipotent, 00:47:13.99\00:47:17.74 omnipresent, omni benevolent, God 00:47:17.77\00:47:19.93 of the universe who transients time 00:47:19.96\00:47:22.42 and space and he is unfavor and unfavorable 00:47:22.45\00:47:25.58 and his broadness and is that God has friends. 00:47:25.61\00:47:29.31 Amen. Isaiah chapter 41, verse 8, uses 00:47:29.34\00:47:32.30 this very same language. Isaiah chapter 41, verse 8, 00:47:32.33\00:47:35.10 calls Abraham the friend of God. The friend of 00:47:35.13\00:47:40.80 God let me ask a question who do you spend most 00:47:40.83\00:47:42.63 of time with your free time. Where do you spend 00:47:42.66\00:47:45.35 your free time with? You spend with your 00:47:45.38\00:47:48.55 friends and with your family and the reason 00:47:48.58\00:47:50.23 that you spend time with your friends and family 00:47:50.26\00:47:51.69 because you love them and you don't just love 00:47:51.72\00:47:53.45 them you like them except their brother in law 00:47:53.48\00:47:56.71 that you really hoping doesn't come on the 00:47:56.74\00:47:58.36 crews. Right are we together everyone. 00:47:58.39\00:48:02.20 Now in case we are inclined to think 00:48:02.23\00:48:03.89 well this is something that applies to Abraham 00:48:03.92\00:48:05.41 look quickly at Exodus chapter 33. 00:48:05.44\00:48:08.15 Exodus chapter 33 and notice this Exodus chapter 33, 00:48:08.18\00:48:13.26 who wrote the book of Exodus. 00:48:13.29\00:48:14.26 Moses. Moses, and look at what he says Verse 11 00:48:14.27\00:48:16.72 Exodus chapter 33 Verse 11. 00:48:16.75\00:48:18.81 So the Lord spoke to Moses face, how did he speak 00:48:20.47\00:48:23.91 to him. In the face. Face to face look at this 00:48:23.94\00:48:27.02 a man speaks to his friend. But what we 00:48:27.05\00:48:35.74 are picking up here is absolutely phenomenal, 00:48:35.77\00:48:37.97 its this idea that the God of the universe 00:48:39.12\00:48:41.14 the infinite, illimitable God of the universe 00:48:41.17\00:48:43.21 has friends. Now nobody in this room can relate 00:48:43.24\00:48:47.14 to God as God. No one, you can't relate 00:48:47.17\00:48:49.54 God on omnipotent, on the presence, 00:48:49.57\00:48:51.05 he is on the Netherlands, he is on mission, 00:48:51.08\00:48:52.45 no one can relate to God in his goodness. 00:48:52.48\00:48:54.67 But god apparently at some level wants to 00:48:54.70\00:48:57.83 relate to you a evolutional, moral rational 00:48:57.86\00:49:01.25 loving being. He once not just you make 00:49:01.28\00:49:04.42 you as puppets as a Tom-toms pet rocks. 00:49:04.45\00:49:07.08 He wants to be your friend. See apparently 00:49:07.11\00:49:12.32 its okay to speak universe into existence 00:49:12.40\00:49:15.05 so there be a light, there be a sun 00:49:15.08\00:49:16.61 there be a moon, let there to be firmament 00:49:16.64\00:49:18.73 God could have spoken to Adam and told let there 00:49:20.32\00:49:21.71 be an Adam, let there be Eve, 00:49:21.74\00:49:23.84 but no, no but when it comes to make 00:49:25.20\00:49:27.64 not a star, not a stream, not a moose, 00:49:27.67\00:49:33.03 not a mouse, but a friend, our speaking 00:49:33.06\00:49:39.42 this into existence will never do. 00:49:39.45\00:49:41.34 For a friend you have to be close, 00:49:41.37\00:49:45.14 just making his friend, just forming his 00:49:48.86\00:49:53.86 friend, he has got to be, he gonna have 00:49:53.89\00:49:55.64 a friend, you have to be close, 00:49:55.67\00:49:57.24 its got to be proximity there. 00:49:57.27\00:49:59.21 Can't get to anyone from the distance 00:49:59.24\00:50:01.55 there has to be investment. 00:50:01.58\00:50:02.55 Welcome to life my son, my friend. 00:50:09.22\00:50:14.69 The Bible records fantastically amazingly, 00:50:14.72\00:50:20.45 audaciously that God wants people as his friends. 00:50:20.48\00:50:24.64 And one day Jesus was speaking to his disciples 00:50:24.67\00:50:27.55 you can turn to John chapter 15. Jesus is 00:50:27.58\00:50:29.91 speaking to his disciples and words are failing him, 00:50:29.94\00:50:32.63 he is looking at the cross, the cross is just 00:50:32.66\00:50:34.09 hours in front of them. John chapter 15, 00:50:34.12\00:50:35.83 and then in John chapter 15 Jesus is speaking to 00:50:35.86\00:50:43.12 his disciples he has just given the parable of the 00:50:43.15\00:50:44.60 branch abiding me and then looks to his disciples 00:50:44.63\00:50:49.61 and he says no longer do I call you servants. 00:50:49.64\00:50:53.31 This relationship that we share disciples 00:50:55.71\00:50:58.90 transcends the servant master relationship. 00:50:58.93\00:51:01.81 This isn't just I command and you do. 00:51:01.84\00:51:04.55 No longer do I call you servants, 00:51:05.78\00:51:08.66 we need a new Norman Clayture we need a new 00:51:08.69\00:51:10.56 language, no longer would I call you servants 00:51:10.59\00:51:12.87 because a servant does not know 00:51:12.90\00:51:14.31 what his master is doing but I've told you 00:51:14.34\00:51:15.80 everything that father has told, 00:51:15.83\00:51:17.79 I call you friends, I call you friends. 00:51:20.84\00:51:28.73 Jesus here was picking up on the very same language, 00:51:30.46\00:51:32.54 the very same connectivity found in the old testament 00:51:32.57\00:51:34.84 Abraham was the friend of God, Moses spoke to 00:51:34.87\00:51:36.54 God as a man face to face as a man speaks to his 00:51:36.57\00:51:38.67 friend, and Jesus says the servant master 00:51:38.70\00:51:41.00 thing yes that is helpful, yes that does 00:51:41.03\00:51:43.51 inform our relationship to a degree, 00:51:43.54\00:51:45.08 but there is a point at which the servant master 00:51:45.11\00:51:46.97 thing comes to and end, its adequately describing 00:51:47.00\00:51:49.37 this connectivity that we have, I call you friends, 00:51:49.40\00:51:53.22 I call you my friends, and thus if you are the friend 00:51:54.41\00:51:57.88 of Jesus, you are the friend of God. 00:51:57.91\00:52:02.35 Beloved Jesus more than loves you, 00:52:03.54\00:52:06.63 he likes you, and you are the 00:52:07.67\00:52:11.72 only you available to Jesus. 00:52:11.75\00:52:14.29 There is no substitute for you. 00:52:14.32\00:52:17.48 You are the only you available to God. 00:52:17.51\00:52:19.26 There might be other people named to your name, 00:52:19.29\00:52:21.57 there are other Davids but there is no other 00:52:21.60\00:52:23.10 David Asscherick, nobody else possess 00:52:23.13\00:52:25.05 the unique idiosyncratic personality that I 00:52:25.08\00:52:27.62 possess and no one else possess the unique 00:52:27.65\00:52:29.63 idiosyncratic personality that you possess, 00:52:29.66\00:52:30.63 you are the only you listen very carefully possible, 00:52:30.64\00:52:33.86 not even God could make another you, 00:52:33.89\00:52:36.36 because you are the product of the three 00:52:36.39\00:52:38.78 choices that you have made. Even twins who receive 00:52:38.81\00:52:41.84 identical genetic inheritances from their parents, 00:52:41.87\00:52:44.75 do they become the very same people. 00:52:44.78\00:52:46.64 They become different people how, how did twins 00:52:46.67\00:52:49.98 become different people because they have been faced 00:52:50.01\00:52:51.60 with different choices, and they make different decisions 00:52:51.63\00:52:53.45 and those different decisions have made them the 00:52:53.48\00:52:55.41 people that they are today. So I have become 00:52:55.44\00:52:57.30 the David Asscherick that you see standing before 00:52:57.33\00:52:59.18 you, and I am thrilled that in the process of 00:52:59.21\00:53:01.03 becoming David Asscherick, I am not yet solidified 00:53:01.06\00:53:03.19 my Asscherickness because I am only thirty seven, 00:53:03.22\00:53:05.65 right. And some of you are twenty seven, 00:53:07.15\00:53:09.59 and fifty seven and sixty seven you are becoming 00:53:09.62\00:53:11.86 the person that you will be for eternity. 00:53:11.89\00:53:13.86 You are becoming the only one of you possible not 00:53:13.89\00:53:17.33 even God can make another you because God 00:53:17.36\00:53:18.96 would have to fashion another being just 00:53:18.99\00:53:20.85 like you with the identical genetic inheritance 00:53:20.88\00:53:22.37 and then he would have to make all of 00:53:22.40\00:53:23.53 your free choices for you. No, no, no 00:53:23.56\00:53:26.37 you are the only you possible. You are the only 00:53:26.40\00:53:29.84 you available to God, in fact let me put you this way. 00:53:29.87\00:53:32.28 You are God's only shot at you. Yours Gods 00:53:32.31\00:53:38.16 only shot at you, if De is saved and David is 00:53:38.19\00:53:41.78 lost Davids this sadness cannot make up 00:53:41.81\00:53:46.33 for Davids lossness because De and David 00:53:46.36\00:53:48.15 are different people. There would always be a 00:53:48.18\00:53:50.52 vacancy, there would always be avoid in the 00:53:50.55\00:53:52.45 heart of God that only David Asscherick 00:53:52.48\00:53:54.57 can fill because there is only one in me. 00:53:54.60\00:53:55.99 In classic keynesian economics, you have 00:54:00.09\00:54:02.60 a price point and then you quantity determining 00:54:02.63\00:54:08.12 price point as long as demand stays the same. 00:54:08.15\00:54:10.26 If you have the price point here and demand 00:54:10.29\00:54:12.93 remains the same, if you have lot of items 00:54:12.96\00:54:15.15 says a new car $20,000 new car, if you 00:54:15.18\00:54:17.24 have twenty thousand of them stock 00:54:17.27\00:54:18.62 the manufacture says we can sell this 00:54:18.65\00:54:19.84 for 20,000 bucks. But what happens what typically 00:54:19.87\00:54:23.03 happens to price points as quantity increases 00:54:23.06\00:54:27.09 now we have forty thousand of these cars, 00:54:27.12\00:54:28.63 what has happened to the price as long as 00:54:28.66\00:54:30.75 demand remains the same price decreases, 00:54:30.78\00:54:33.37 price point decreases but what happens 00:54:33.40\00:54:35.40 if we there is demand for twenty thousand but we only 00:54:35.43\00:54:37.92 have ten thousand to sell price will increase, 00:54:37.95\00:54:40.70 so they operate on inverse relationship right. 00:54:40.73\00:54:42.95 Okay so you take a $20,000 car, 00:54:42.98\00:54:45.25 there are twenty thousand in existence and 00:54:45.28\00:54:46.74 you contrast that with the collectors item like 00:54:46.77\00:54:48.33 a Porsche like a 1959 Porsche and there is just 00:54:48.36\00:54:50.97 fifty of them made in the first place, 00:54:51.00\00:54:52.50 and of those fifty that were made there is only 00:54:52.53\00:54:54.28 five remaining, just five remaining in 00:54:54.31\00:54:57.10 perfect pristine condition and collectors have 00:54:57.13\00:54:59.14 gobble this up, and three of them on a 00:54:59.17\00:55:01.45 truck to Las Vegas to go to a show, a car show 00:55:01.48\00:55:05.19 but that truck tips over and three of them 00:55:05.22\00:55:07.73 are obliterated. What just happened to the 00:55:07.76\00:55:09.70 value of those two. It increase because quantity 00:55:09.73\00:55:13.53 decrease, availability decrease, access 00:55:13.56\00:55:16.15 decreased. Now lets say something happens 00:55:16.18\00:55:18.48 to another one of them, the other one, 00:55:18.51\00:55:20.24 another one of the two is racked and only one 00:55:20.27\00:55:21.98 remains. What would be the value, what 00:55:22.01\00:55:24.58 would be the pride point of that remaining Porsche. 00:55:24.61\00:55:27.07 It would be whatever someone is going to 00:55:28.09\00:55:29.62 pay for it, it will be literally priceless 00:55:29.65\00:55:31.07 and beloved think this through. 00:55:31.10\00:55:32.85 What's worth more the $20,000 car 00:55:32.88\00:55:35.26 that we have 20,000 of or the Porsche that we 00:55:35.29\00:55:38.71 have one of. What's worth more. 00:55:38.74\00:55:40.83 Porsche. You are the Porsche. 00:55:40.86\00:55:43.06 There is only of you, and you are different 00:55:45.59\00:55:50.51 person from me or different person from you, 00:55:50.54\00:55:52.29 or different person from you and yes 00:55:52.32\00:55:54.01 God loves you. This is a profound commentary 00:55:54.04\00:55:55.63 on the nonpartisan love of God, 00:55:55.66\00:55:57.16 but according to scripture he more 00:55:57.19\00:55:59.61 than loves you, he likes you. 00:55:59.64\00:56:02.39 He wants to be your friend, he wants you 00:56:03.62\00:56:06.09 spend eternity with him because you are the 00:56:06.12\00:56:10.94 only you available to God. If heaven forbid 00:56:10.97\00:56:16.62 you are lost, you are irreparably lost, 00:56:16.65\00:56:20.12 you are irredeemably lost, you are perfectly 00:56:20.15\00:56:23.60 irreplaceable to God. Thousand and millions 00:56:23.63\00:56:27.78 may be saved, but if you are lost there is a 00:56:27.81\00:56:32.08 vacancy, an eternal vacancy in the heart of God 00:56:32.11\00:56:34.68 that only your personality could fill. 00:56:34.71\00:56:37.33 You might your nose is too big, that you 00:56:37.36\00:56:39.32 are too short, that you are too chubby, 00:56:39.35\00:56:40.80 and maybe you are through chubby, 00:56:40.83\00:56:42.63 but God likes you, and he is forming you and 00:56:44.37\00:56:49.91 fashioning you into a person whom he can say 00:56:49.94\00:56:53.30 in absolute transparency she is my friend, 00:56:53.33\00:56:57.16 he is my friend, and can invite you to 00:56:57.19\00:57:00.22 spend eternity with him. Beloved one of the 00:57:00.25\00:57:04.06 unifying motives of scripture is that God 00:57:04.09\00:57:07.83 wants to be with people. He wants to be 00:57:07.86\00:57:10.66 their friend, and God wants to be your friend. 00:57:10.69\00:57:14.53
