There is more, but all stuff there, 00:08:06.11\00:08:11.74 that's just for little fun. Amen. 00:08:11.77\00:08:14.58 You know, we're, we're, we're gonna talk 00:08:15.16\00:08:16.54 about God's mighty men and I'm always encourage 00:08:16.57\00:08:21.77 by the stories of adventure, as I said, 00:08:21.80\00:08:25.20 the Lord created us to go forth to subdue with 00:08:25.23\00:08:28.94 the earth. And I just, I love the idea of exploits, 00:08:28.97\00:08:33.17 and encourage, and bravery. 00:08:33.20\00:08:35.27 And some of my favorite stories from history 00:08:36.04\00:08:38.02 are the stories of people like Louis and Clark 00:08:38.05\00:08:42.87 that just took off in this front tear and from 00:08:43.54\00:08:46.12 St. Louis, west they had no idea what to find, 00:08:46.15\00:08:49.86 they thought there might be a river that went all 00:08:49.89\00:08:51.57 the way to the pacific, there were no maps. 00:08:51.60\00:08:53.16 And just the courage and adventure of all those 00:08:54.57\00:08:56.35 men together and granted there was a one women 00:08:56.38\00:08:59.34 Sacagawea in their midst, but just the comradely 00:08:59.37\00:09:02.64 and the dependence and the trust of going across 00:09:02.67\00:09:06.38 this unexplored nation and they encountered. 00:09:06.41\00:09:08.86 They never knowing, if they comeback alive, 00:09:08.89\00:09:10.39 sort of a miracle story in that of the 40 plus men 00:09:11.87\00:09:15.00 that left only one die here in appendicitis. 00:09:15.03\00:09:17.13 And just you read about stories like this and some 00:09:19.37\00:09:21.31 of those stories are miracle in, in battle and courage 00:09:21.34\00:09:25.00 under fire. And then you read of the Bible about 00:09:25.03\00:09:28.45 David's mighty men. You know, I thought a good 00:09:28.48\00:09:31.03 place that start would be in the book of Ephesians. 00:09:31.06\00:09:33.00 God is looking for man of valor encourage today, 00:09:34.08\00:09:36.51 who will take a stand for the Jesus Christ, 00:09:38.01\00:09:41.15 who will be man of faith, who will take a stand 00:09:42.36\00:09:44.89 for the truth and be willing to fight that fighter faith. 00:09:44.92\00:09:48.65 Now, you cannot fight the fighter faith without the 00:09:50.08\00:09:53.63 armor of God. So, I thought it would be appropriate 00:09:53.66\00:09:56.61 during this session together to take a look at that. 00:09:56.64\00:09:59.57 Ephesians chapter 6, verse 10. And he summarizing 00:09:59.60\00:10:05.76 everything each says, here in Ephesians probably 00:10:05.79\00:10:07.98 wrote this book as he would shame to a Roman soldiers. 00:10:08.01\00:10:11.29 So, they are right before him in the Roman soldier. 00:10:11.32\00:10:13.52 He had exhibit a, of what the armor might look like. 00:10:14.00\00:10:16.93 Finally brethren, Ephesians 6, verse 10. 00:10:19.01\00:10:22.36 Be strong in the Lord, some of you might workout at the 00:10:23.49\00:10:27.57 gym, but the Lord is inviting us to be strong in him. 00:10:27.60\00:10:30.83 And in the power of his might that's available to 00:10:34.01\00:10:36.47 every men here whether or not you take steroids, 00:10:36.50\00:10:39.73 you have a gym membership, you can all be strong 00:10:39.76\00:10:43.11 in the Lord, in the power of his might. And he adds, 00:10:43.14\00:10:48.15 put on the whole, emphasize underline the whole 00:10:49.50\00:10:53.96 armor of God that you might be able to stand against 00:10:53.99\00:10:58.11 the wiles of the devil. I share this afternoon, 00:10:58.14\00:11:02.06 I will talking at 2:30 about tips on resisting temptation. 00:11:02.09\00:11:05.53 We're all under a constant withering hale of temptation 00:11:06.21\00:11:11.45 the devil especially in this last generation is 00:11:11.48\00:11:14.32 attacking men, who should be the priest leaders 00:11:14.35\00:11:18.09 in their families in their churches. 00:11:18.12\00:11:19.99 And the devil is attacking men. And we need to know, 00:11:20.86\00:11:24.19 how to take a stand for Christ in the truth that 00:11:24.22\00:11:28.87 you might stand against the wiles of the devil, 00:11:28.90\00:11:31.47 for we don't wrestle against flesh and blood. 00:11:32.69\00:11:34.72 You know, the weapons are our warfare, 00:11:36.29\00:11:38.41 are not carnal weapons, but they're might bringing 00:11:39.18\00:11:42.07 down those strong roads. We're not wrestling 00:11:42.10\00:11:44.22 against flesh and blood. Sometimes I wish I 00:11:44.25\00:11:45.95 could just punch the devil on the nose, don't you? Amen. 00:11:45.98\00:11:48.46 But you can't fight him that way, 00:11:49.37\00:11:50.61 but you can punch him. You just got to know, 00:11:51.98\00:11:54.30 what the weapons are. For we don't wrestle against 00:11:55.59\00:11:58.50 flesh and blood, but against principalities against 00:11:58.53\00:12:02.21 powers, against the rumors of the darkness of this 00:12:02.24\00:12:04.76 age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the 00:12:04.79\00:12:09.21 heavenly places. Therefore take up again the whole 00:12:09.24\00:12:13.97 armor of God. Now, when I began to do my first 00:12:14.00\00:12:20.01 study on the armor of God, I just took 00:12:20.04\00:12:22.23 the word armor and began going through the Bible 00:12:22.26\00:12:24.21 and it's first that was little discouraged. 00:12:24.24\00:12:25.78 Because you know, when David went against 00:12:27.72\00:12:30.05 goliath, it made a big deal about talking about 00:12:30.08\00:12:33.26 goliath armor, but how much to that armor 00:12:33.29\00:12:35.08 help goliath. And then King Saul said to David, 00:12:35.11\00:12:38.68 you better not go against that giant without some 00:12:38.71\00:12:41.11 armoring, and he said, he will mine David tried arm 00:12:41.14\00:12:43.37 Saul's armor of course Saul was had a shoulders 00:12:44.19\00:12:46.19 tall and everybody else live is like extra large of this 00:12:46.22\00:12:49.01 did and fit like in picture David with Saul's armor army, 00:12:49.45\00:12:52.62 he is kind a looking like he pulled up his socks through 00:12:52.65\00:12:55.44 his eyes and peering up the nickel and he said, 00:12:55.47\00:12:59.49 I can't use this. And if he would aside, 00:12:59.52\00:13:01.69 so if that how is that gonna help my sermon on armor. 00:13:02.64\00:13:04.67 Then I read about Ahab's armor, 00:13:05.74\00:13:07.01 where he had a crack in his armor and a stray Ero, 00:13:07.04\00:13:10.40 struck of idolatry and he die. He said, 00:13:10.43\00:13:13.63 Lord I'm reading about armor and that's failing 00:13:13.66\00:13:16.61 everywhere and the works who had done, 00:13:16.64\00:13:19.03 that's the armor of men. It says; 00:13:19.06\00:13:21.32 take up the armor of God. Amen. David had the 00:13:21.35\00:13:25.24 armor of God, when he went against goliath. 00:13:25.27\00:13:27.63 He notice he said, you come against me goliath 00:13:27.66\00:13:30.20 and you have got the sword in the spear 00:13:30.23\00:13:31.75 in the shield and the helmet and it tells us about 00:13:31.78\00:13:34.35 his breastplate and his grieves and it explains 00:13:34.38\00:13:37.53 his armor and how much your weight 00:13:37.56\00:13:38.80 And David said, I come against you with the Lord. 00:13:39.63\00:13:41.55 David was armed with the armor of God? 00:13:41.58\00:13:44.50 Take up the whole armor of God that you might be 00:13:46.55\00:13:50.76 able to with stand in the evil day having done 00:13:50.79\00:13:54.19 all to stand, stand therefore. Now, 00:13:54.22\00:13:59.30 I want to stop again and emphasize something 00:13:59.33\00:14:01.56 that you probably have caught in verse 11. 00:14:01.59\00:14:04.66 That you might be able to stand. Verse 13, 00:14:05.53\00:14:08.60 to with stand, to stand, verse 14, stand. 00:14:08.63\00:14:13.90 What is God saying to men today? Stand, 00:14:14.89\00:14:18.34 stand your ground, so while when we curl up 00:14:19.55\00:14:22.74 and cover and run and God is looking for an army 00:14:22.77\00:14:26.59 of mighty men in these last days that will be 00:14:26.62\00:14:29.82 discourage or intimidated by the culture to cover 00:14:29.85\00:14:33.39 and to high, but stand up for what you believe, 00:14:33.42\00:14:36.87 whenever surrounded that with people, that 00:14:38.68\00:14:39.99 are telling us this nothing wrong with same sex 00:14:40.02\00:14:42.20 marriage, you can stand up and say, yes there is. 00:14:42.23\00:14:44.64 Amen. Oh! When people are telling us that you know, 00:14:44.67\00:14:49.27 it doesn't matter whether not God created 00:14:49.49\00:14:51.28 over millions of years and if you still believe 00:14:51.31\00:14:54.56 in creation world and your ignoramus believing 00:14:54.59\00:14:56.67 in fables. You can take a stand and say, 00:14:56.70\00:14:59.25 I believe the word of God, yes I do. 00:14:59.28\00:15:01.18 And there is a, a hale of intimidation coming from 00:15:02.28\00:15:06.52 the devil, that's trying to get men of God to cover 00:15:06.55\00:15:10.43 and be ashamed of what he says in his word, 00:15:10.46\00:15:12.73 do not be ashamed, but take a stand for what you 00:15:12.76\00:15:15.81 believe. Hold you head up, when someone ask you, 00:15:15.84\00:15:19.40 are you a Christian? You say, absolutely. 00:15:19.43\00:15:21.78 What kind of Christian? Well, I don't want to brag, 00:15:21.81\00:15:24.25 but I'm a Seventh-Day Adventist Christian. 00:15:24.28\00:15:26.00 Amen, amen. Stand therefore, there is a flood 00:15:28.78\00:15:34.42 coming in the last days, and if you're building your 00:15:34.45\00:15:36.64 house on the rock, it's for the purpose of standing 00:15:36.67\00:15:39.51 through that storm is coming. God wants people 00:15:40.40\00:15:43.64 to stand, he ever going, I went to an ocean 00:15:43.67\00:15:48.00 where they have got real waves nothing against 00:15:48.03\00:15:50.56 the great lakes, but I mean a like the pacific. 00:15:50.59\00:15:52.42 And you get off their own the beach in Hawaii 00:15:56.08\00:15:58.25 and it's fun sometimes to watch people, 00:16:00.01\00:16:02.13 when they're not paying attention, 00:16:02.16\00:16:03.16 they got some big waves and people out their playing 00:16:03.19\00:16:05.05 and their bodies surfing and the tourists that aren't used 00:16:05.08\00:16:06.79 to the power of the waves, and they get sometimes 00:16:06.82\00:16:09.75 slapped down into the sand and one of things 00:16:09.78\00:16:13.46 you have got to do is, when the waves coming in 00:16:13.49\00:16:16.05 you got to lean into it. You don't turn your back on it 00:16:16.08\00:16:20.40 and you can stand through it, but you got to be planted. 00:16:21.31\00:16:23.42 Well, that sort of, how it is in our culture today is, 00:16:25.25\00:16:27.32 there is wave after wave of propaganda that the devil 00:16:27.89\00:16:34.05 sending against the Christian church and against 00:16:34.08\00:16:36.86 Christians men, you got to take a stand and just 00:16:36.89\00:16:39.71 lean into it stand up for you believe and other 00:16:39.74\00:16:43.23 you don't locky down. Stand therefore having 00:16:43.26\00:16:47.24 good at your ways with truth, for sins he mentions 00:16:47.27\00:16:51.36 his truth. It's the truth that will set you free, 00:16:51.39\00:16:54.49 that's the belt of truth and it holds everything 00:16:55.52\00:16:59.18 else together. Now, some of you, you, you got 00:16:59.21\00:17:04.76 belt, so I just wonder shelf hands, 00:17:04.79\00:17:06.22 how many you have got a belt on today? 00:17:06.25\00:17:07.59 I see how many of you really needed to hold your 00:17:09.53\00:17:11.97 pants up? Would you dare raise your hands? 00:17:12.00\00:17:13.59 Pants are too bigger; your belly is too big. 00:17:16.76\00:17:18.00 I wear a my belt because I hang things are, 00:17:19.45\00:17:22.10 I got a belt pack right here, hung on my belt, 00:17:22.58\00:17:24.17 and we're not, not speaking in public of got a Swiss 00:17:24.74\00:17:26.84 army knife and sometimes I have got by keys 00:17:26.87\00:17:28.68 hang it off my belt and, and I have got my phone 00:17:28.71\00:17:31.70 hang it off my belt, you all know what I mean? 00:17:31.73\00:17:33.30 I have gotten sometimes to usually might seems 00:17:34.48\00:17:37.04 serves that tighten up right and I belt isn't really 00:17:37.07\00:17:39.10 hold my, my suit on, but sometimes 00:17:39.13\00:17:43.69 you needed to keep everything together. 00:17:43.72\00:17:45.15 For the soldier that belt held everything in place. 00:17:45.18\00:17:49.15 They had robes that they would wear, 00:17:49.79\00:17:51.20 but when they were fighting, they would good up 00:17:51.23\00:17:53.36 their robes into their belts, so they can run 00:17:53.39\00:17:56.18 without tripping, it kept everything in place 00:17:56.21\00:17:59.67 the sword was held in place, the sheave was on 00:17:59.70\00:18:03.57 the belt. And as one thing, if you got the Bible and, 00:18:03.60\00:18:06.76 and a lot of church has have the Bible, 00:18:06.79\00:18:08.05 but do they have the belt of truth. 00:18:08.08\00:18:09.37 This is what holds at all together, 00:18:11.08\00:18:12.51 it helps you know, what you believe and why 00:18:12.54\00:18:14.12 you believe it. We should be ready always to given 00:18:14.15\00:18:17.23 an answer to anyone, who asks, 00:18:17.26\00:18:18.66 why we believe, what we believe; 00:18:18.69\00:18:20.73 we ought to be grounded in the truth, 00:18:20.76\00:18:23.64 eluded in the truth, amen. So, that we're not blown 00:18:23.67\00:18:27.20 away. A belt can save your life. I remember one time, 00:18:27.23\00:18:34.81 I you felt me, heard me share this story before, 00:18:34.84\00:18:37.67 but it's serve the point. I was a Camp Pastor at 00:18:37.70\00:18:44.43 Summer Camp in Northern California they had a lake, 00:18:44.46\00:18:47.98 they would take the kids out skiing and I will tell you, 00:18:48.01\00:18:50.91 it's a, it's pretty rough when you're Pastor 00:18:50.94\00:18:53.24 and you got a take it's skiing all day along, 00:18:53.27\00:18:55.36 but one of the benefits was I was able to take 00:18:55.39\00:18:58.58 my kids out to the Summer Camp. 00:18:58.61\00:18:59.94 And they were trying to teach some of these 00:19:00.68\00:19:01.92 kids to ski barefoot. And so we took these bulk load 00:19:01.95\00:19:08.16 of kids out, and they had a boom, 00:19:08.19\00:19:11.16 they went off perpendicular from the 00:19:11.19\00:19:12.90 boat, here is the boat and hand this aluminum 00:19:12.93\00:19:15.18 boom that went off and, and you get going us 00:19:15.21\00:19:17.45 seen barefoot, it's not like just regular skiing. 00:19:17.48\00:19:20.16 You know, you got a big surface area of one 00:19:20.90\00:19:22.17 or two ski and you can pop up pretty quick, 00:19:22.20\00:19:24.36 but when your skiing would just your feet you 00:19:25.33\00:19:27.20 know, big feet like mine, you got to go about 00:19:27.23\00:19:28.77 40 miles an hour or it is not enough to placement 00:19:28.80\00:19:31.99 to support you. And so we get the boat up 00:19:32.02\00:19:35.41 and you have to have a glassy water to do this. 00:19:35.44\00:19:37.96 We will get the boat up and you get going about 00:19:38.81\00:19:40.27 35-40 miles an hours and that candidate would pull 00:19:40.30\00:19:46.08 one foot out and you will get it, you don't even 00:19:46.11\00:19:48.08 learn it, co-cruel down, just one toe curling down, 00:19:48.11\00:19:50.97 it catches the water and little flippy over. 00:19:51.00\00:19:53.13 And when you fall, at your skiing barefoot, 00:19:53.78\00:19:56.33 whether it's off the boom or of a big tale and rope. 00:19:56.36\00:19:59.76 And you fall going 38 miles an hour, 00:19:59.99\00:20:02.22 it's different than when you fall regular skiing speed. 00:20:02.25\00:20:04.55 You don't just fall under the water; 00:20:05.29\00:20:06.44 and you skip across the surface of the water 00:20:06.47\00:20:09.03 like a stone for while. And they actually give you 00:20:09.06\00:20:11.31 a vest to wear that is reinforced; son Michael broke 00:20:11.34\00:20:15.92 his ribs skiing barefoot, as he hit the water so hard. 00:20:15.95\00:20:18.75 So, we're gonna skiing, these kids around the lake 00:20:20.19\00:20:21.83 and some of them were getting in, some of marked 00:20:21.86\00:20:23.63 and finally this one boy, he was like 11, 12 years old 00:20:23.66\00:20:28.53 little bit shall be remember he had a bathing suit 00:20:28.56\00:20:31.57 that look like a checker flag on a race, 00:20:31.60\00:20:33.67 a racing flag you know, that he was wearing still 00:20:33.70\00:20:36.29 remember that. And he wanted to try and 00:20:36.32\00:20:39.58 we're little worry because he was a big boy, 00:20:39.61\00:20:41.45 but a little feet, it's what I thought this is gonna 00:20:41.48\00:20:45.16 be challenge, but he want to try, and courage 00:20:45.19\00:20:47.39 and so he got out there, we got the boat gone, 00:20:47.42\00:20:49.22 we want to go little bit faster you know, 00:20:49.87\00:20:51.31 make sure that he was able to get up, 00:20:51.34\00:20:53.47 and he got one foot down and he is going like this, 00:20:54.38\00:20:56.09 he said, I have got it, this is okay you know, 00:20:56.12\00:20:57.36 it's got the, see, see on the edge of the boat and some 00:20:57.39\00:20:59.63 try the other foot and he gets the other foot out 00:20:59.66\00:21:01.32 and he is, he is going, he is so happy and he looked 00:21:01.35\00:21:03.52 at up and smile right about them. 00:21:03.55\00:21:05.09 He called one of his toes and he just runs, and he skipped 00:21:06.28\00:21:10.77 across the water and spiel whole around the few times 00:21:10.80\00:21:12.99 and then disappeared beneath the surface. 00:21:13.02\00:21:14.76 As we turn the boat around came to pick them up 00:21:15.75\00:21:17.28 and he came up his little, little days. And we said, 00:21:17.31\00:21:20.89 you alright and he said, yeah, should do you want 00:21:20.92\00:21:24.05 to try it again? He said, no. And we said, 00:21:24.08\00:21:29.75 well hopping the boat? No. Do you want to try it again? 00:21:29.78\00:21:37.24 No. Do you want to get in? No. What's the problem? 00:21:38.13\00:21:42.84 He said, I can't find my suit. You know, 00:21:43.78\00:21:48.98 your bathing suit comes usually from the factory 00:21:49.01\00:21:51.51 with a little draw string, a little belt. 00:21:51.54\00:21:53.29 And that kind of holds everything in place and he 00:21:54.39\00:21:56.10 didn't really know what that was for, until too late. 00:21:56.13\00:21:58.45 So, we had give little safari through the legs, 00:21:59.45\00:22:01.43 see if we could find this suit form, but sometimes 00:22:01.46\00:22:05.65 it creates embarrassing moment. 00:22:05.68\00:22:07.18 And others have been embarrassed before because 00:22:09.64\00:22:11.35 they did not have the belt of truth and someone, 00:22:11.38\00:22:14.06 who say what about this verse? And I said, 00:22:14.09\00:22:17.33 I can't explain that verse, I don't know. 00:22:17.36\00:22:18.74 We have to know, what we believe specially the 00:22:20.08\00:22:22.49 foundational truths, principles and we ought 00:22:22.52\00:22:26.50 to be able to shrimp. Not everybody is a Pastor, 00:22:26.72\00:22:28.32 not everyone's a teacher, but every soldier of God, 00:22:28.35\00:22:31.64 every man of faith, ought to know, at least the primary 00:22:31.67\00:22:34.44 foundational pillar of what they believe and how 00:22:34.47\00:22:37.62 to defend those things. And be able to turn 00:22:37.65\00:22:40.81 in the word of God and say, this is the truth. 00:22:40.84\00:22:43.46 So, your sword is hanging on that belt of truth. 00:22:44.75\00:22:47.04 As you read on with it, on the implements of the 00:22:48.29\00:22:53.63 armor of God were to stand having the truth and it says, 00:22:53.66\00:22:57.47 the breastplate of righteousness. 00:22:57.50\00:23:00.80 Now, that breastplate was often made of little pieces 00:23:01.93\00:23:04.28 of male that were sound together like fish scales 00:23:04.31\00:23:08.45 that would especially protect the vital organs 00:23:09.44\00:23:12.06 in the front. And the front mine, 00:23:12.09\00:23:14.59 when I was sharing about this one day and he came 00:23:14.62\00:23:16.77 up later and he said, no Doug he realize that underneath 00:23:16.80\00:23:19.45 that breastplate, they never wear the breastplate 00:23:19.48\00:23:22.04 right on their bare skiing. It was always one 00:23:22.07\00:23:25.54 over a rope, when he would get hotten the sun 00:23:25.57\00:23:28.09 and burn them and get cold and shield them or 00:23:28.12\00:23:30.87 pinch them. And now that read in the Bible that sure 00:23:30.90\00:23:33.63 enough even the, the high priest when he wore 00:23:33.66\00:23:36.10 that that little breastplate with the 12 stones on it, 00:23:36.13\00:23:40.39 it was one over a robe. And so first you have the robe 00:23:40.42\00:23:45.88 of the Christ righteousness and then that breastplate, 00:23:45.91\00:23:49.01 it would cover the front and that would cover the vital 00:23:49.04\00:23:51.32 organs. So, that when you in come that, 00:23:51.35\00:23:55.24 it would protecting might get to cut on the armor 00:23:55.27\00:23:58.00 of the leg, but if you get too wounded in the torso, 00:23:58.03\00:24:00.75 it was all from fatal. You know, during the several 00:24:02.27\00:24:04.97 wars before they had discovered some of the basic 00:24:05.00\00:24:07.99 rules of sanitation develop by Joseph Lister. 00:24:08.02\00:24:10.64 A person might survive been hit in the arm or in the leg, 00:24:12.13\00:24:15.38 but if they got hit in the head or in the torso, 00:24:15.41\00:24:18.57 it was typically considered to be fatal right away because 00:24:19.03\00:24:22.22 of the vital organs, I mean infection and they 00:24:22.25\00:24:24.33 didn't have ways of dealing with it. 00:24:24.36\00:24:25.83 There was nothing in the breastplate to protect 00:24:25.86\00:24:28.09 the back because you're not supposed to expose your 00:24:28.12\00:24:32.30 back to the enemy. The Bible says, resist the devil 00:24:32.33\00:24:36.19 and he will flay from you. You know, there is a fantastic 00:24:36.22\00:24:40.16 story about David's mighty men that you find in 00:24:40.19\00:24:42.01 the Bible. And the one of the character is goes 00:24:42.04\00:24:44.82 by the name of Eleazar and you can find him in 00:24:44.85\00:24:49.10 second Samuel chapter 23, verse 14. 00:24:49.13\00:24:52.90 Actually I want to go to Second Samuel 23, verse 9. 00:24:54.91\00:24:57.58 Speaking about David and these three might men 00:24:59.17\00:25:01.57 that were his sort of his special honor guard, 00:25:01.60\00:25:06.06 sort of like Jesus is son of David and Peter, 00:25:06.09\00:25:08.23 James, and John. And after him, was the son of Dodo, 00:25:08.26\00:25:13.79 he Ahohite. Oh! Its kind a chapter 1, I want to 00:25:13.82\00:25:16.46 say that, I would you like to see my dad Dodo. 00:25:16.49\00:25:18.91 It means something different. 00:25:18.94\00:25:20.94 Now, one of the three might men with David, 00:25:20.97\00:25:24.14 when they define the Philistines, were gathered 00:25:24.82\00:25:27.35 together to battle and the men of Israel were 00:25:27.38\00:25:30.02 gone away. So, here is this battle with the Philistines 00:25:30.05\00:25:32.64 and David, they define the Philistines armies 00:25:32.67\00:25:36.04 and they sort of challenge. them in the Philistines 00:25:36.07\00:25:38.38 must have themselves and they would charge the men 00:25:38.41\00:25:40.83 of Israel, but the rest of the soldiers were treated, 00:25:40.86\00:25:43.73 but David did not retreat. You know, 00:25:45.15\00:25:47.35 David went right in the battle and fought with his men. 00:25:47.38\00:25:49.38 And that's one reason the soldier of Alexander 00:25:50.78\00:25:52.63 the great was so loyal and he conquered so successfully 00:25:52.66\00:25:55.54 during those 12 years. He marched his army 00:25:55.57\00:25:58.21 22,000 miles. And conquer the world is can see 00:25:58.24\00:26:01.84 would lead them into battle and he was often wounded 00:26:01.87\00:26:04.68 sometimes he received what we're, they thought 00:26:04.71\00:26:07.93 modal verbs. He will be the first one over a wall. 00:26:07.96\00:26:11.01 And they do anything for Alexander and David 00:26:12.03\00:26:13.99 soldiers were that way too. So, when some of the 00:26:14.02\00:26:16.33 men were treated, Eleazar stay there with David, 00:26:16.36\00:26:21.91 and they were fighting over a high piece of ground, 00:26:22.67\00:26:24.42 it was a barley field. Let me finish reading this to you, 00:26:24.45\00:26:26.74 just to give you the, the background here. 00:26:27.21\00:26:29.09 And the men of Israel had gone away. And he arose, 00:26:30.63\00:26:32.70 and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, 00:26:33.68\00:26:36.55 and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD 00:26:37.32\00:26:41.01 wrought a great victory that day; and the people 00:26:41.04\00:26:43.25 returned after him only despoil that the story is 00:26:43.28\00:26:46.90 in two places in the Bible. Let me read it you, in 00:26:46.93\00:26:48.73 a first chronicles 11 and12. First chronicles 11 and 12 00:26:48.76\00:26:52.61 and after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, 00:26:54.11\00:26:55.85 the Ahohite, who was one of the three mightiest. 00:26:55.88\00:26:58.63 He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the 00:26:59.78\00:27:02.36 Philistines were gathered together to battle, 00:27:02.39\00:27:04.17 and there was a parcel of ground full of barley; 00:27:04.93\00:27:07.01 and the people fled from before the Philistines. 00:27:07.68\00:27:09.58 And they David and Eleazar set themselves in the midst 00:27:10.86\00:27:15.31 of that parcel, and delivered it, and they slew the 00:27:15.34\00:27:19.24 Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great 00:27:19.27\00:27:22.01 deliverance. So, let me we heard what we just read 00:27:22.04\00:27:24.78 in these two passages. There is a battle with the 00:27:24.81\00:27:28.72 Philistines between David and his mighty men his 00:27:28.75\00:27:31.80 soldiers, it could have been back one, 00:27:31.83\00:27:33.25 when he only had that 600 soldiers. And the Philistines, 00:27:33.28\00:27:37.47 the army seen to big and they are trying to fight 00:27:37.50\00:27:40.28 and defend this field of barley; it's a type for the 00:27:40.31\00:27:43.18 word of God is a grain. And the soldiers all flow 00:27:43.21\00:27:47.08 back and retreated, but Eleazar said, 00:27:47.11\00:27:50.82 as long as David is here I'm not going anywhere. 00:27:50.85\00:27:52.76 He is my captain and if he is not afraid, I'm not afraid. 00:27:54.18\00:27:56.23 And so as they got these breastplates on and the 00:27:57.71\00:27:59.78 only place expose is the back, I anticipate they 00:27:59.81\00:28:04.48 fought back to back. And it says, that the Lord 00:28:04.51\00:28:08.13 gave them a great deliverance and 00:28:08.16\00:28:09.82 the only thing I can picture is, they just began 00:28:09.85\00:28:12.43 to circle and swing their swords and hold up your 00:28:12.46\00:28:14.62 shields, just like a mowing sieve. And they were 00:28:14.65\00:28:18.80 just mowing down the Philistines until the 00:28:18.83\00:28:20.81 Philistines realize that God was lift them and they 00:28:20.84\00:28:23.50 thought so longer, so hard that Eleazar could not 00:28:23.53\00:28:27.21 let go with his hand cleave onto resort, 00:28:27.24\00:28:29.75 he could not let go with the sword. True story, 00:28:29.78\00:28:33.66 man name Henry Dempsey, pilot on a small computer 00:28:34.63\00:28:37.39 jet was flying by up state New York. 00:28:37.42\00:28:39.83 After take off and he heard a noise in the back 00:28:41.34\00:28:43.04 and he got up, turned over the controls to his co-pilot. 00:28:43.07\00:28:46.30 And went into the back to find out, what the noise, 00:28:46.33\00:28:48.48 right about then they hit a bump, he felt against 00:28:48.51\00:28:51.12 the entrance door and that's what the problem was, 00:28:52.42\00:28:55.34 he did not been totally shut and he was stuck down. 00:28:55.37\00:28:58.06 Pilot, co-pilot now here is all these air rushing 00:28:59.57\00:29:02.61 through and he sees the lighting coming on, 00:29:02.64\00:29:04.48 that says, that the, the doors open and looks 00:29:04.51\00:29:08.41 back and he doesn't see the captain radios and 00:29:08.44\00:29:11.21 that hoping that he fell over the water that 00:29:11.24\00:29:12.96 there were flying over that, you might be found 00:29:12.99\00:29:14.85 calling from emergency help, he lands and after 00:29:16.09\00:29:19.80 he lands, he didn't found out that the captain 00:29:19.83\00:29:22.05 was not sucked all the way out. His torso 00:29:22.08\00:29:24.94 dropped out of the plane and with one handy 00:29:24.97\00:29:27.15 got a hold of this chain covered by vinyl that 00:29:27.18\00:29:29.92 let down the steps. And he held on with his feet 00:29:29.95\00:29:34.20 still inside the plane 200 mile an hour winds 00:29:34.23\00:29:37.80 blowing against him, landed with his head, 00:29:37.83\00:29:40.87 one foot off the ground, when the emergency 00:29:40.90\00:29:45.85 people came, they said, it took several minutes 00:29:45.88\00:29:49.20 on the news to get him to let go of the chain 00:29:49.23\00:29:52.66 that could not try his hand the off of the chain. 00:29:52.69\00:29:55.31 You know, the over riding the motorcycle a long distance 00:29:58.09\00:29:59.70 on a cold day, and he can't opened up your hand. 00:29:59.73\00:30:02.99 He cleaves unto his sword. Now, what is the sword 00:30:04.49\00:30:07.78 is symbol for? Word of God, we're gonna get 00:30:07.81\00:30:10.35 to that in just a minute. Don't let go, amen. 00:30:10.38\00:30:14.93 And the Lord wrote a great victory that day, 00:30:14.96\00:30:17.13 the reason they were able to fight the enemies 00:30:18.18\00:30:19.71 because they had that breastplate of righteousness 00:30:19.74\00:30:22.75 that was there out front protecting those vital 00:30:22.78\00:30:25.51 organs and we need the same. You know, 00:30:25.54\00:30:30.37 it mentions this, by the way in the Book of Job, 00:30:30.40\00:30:33.43 chapter 29:14, it says, I put on righteousness 00:30:34.51\00:30:38.92 and it clothed me. And Aaron used to wear this 00:30:38.95\00:30:44.05 breastplate of judgment on his heart. 00:30:44.08\00:30:46.25 And so this was a very vital piece of, of defense, 00:30:47.13\00:30:50.56 through it we can resist the devil. Christ said, 00:30:52.53\00:30:55.02 get thee behind me saved. You don't turn your 00:30:55.05\00:30:57.89 back on the enemy else stab you in the back. 00:30:57.92\00:30:59.59 So, in the armor of God, you have got the belt 00:31:00.52\00:31:01.69 of shoes, you got the breastplate of righteousness 00:31:01.72\00:31:04.77 and having Shaun your feet with the preparation 00:31:05.87\00:31:08.46 of the gospel of peace. Shoes are extremely 00:31:08.49\00:31:12.73 important in the water. We have one daughter 00:31:12.94\00:31:16.27 that was in the army Sherry and our son Daniel 00:31:16.30\00:31:19.34 was in the Marines. Whenever he would come 00:31:19.37\00:31:21.42 home and he showed me, he still has his Marine 00:31:21.45\00:31:23.05 Issued boots and you know, they are well 00:31:23.08\00:31:24.96 made because, especially they found that 00:31:24.99\00:31:27.62 during the Vietnam War. They told those soldiers, 00:31:27.65\00:31:30.01 if you don't take care of your feet, 00:31:30.04\00:31:32.14 you become useless as a soldier, and all kinds 00:31:32.36\00:31:34.55 of problems were jangled rodent 00:31:34.58\00:31:36.06 and they would often take their boots 00:31:36.09\00:31:37.67 out and dry them and take care of their shoes, 00:31:37.70\00:31:39.51 take care of their feet. Remember a friend of mine; 00:31:39.54\00:31:42.37 Bob Hoffman lived up, in the mountains. 00:31:43.95\00:31:46.50 He lived in the Canyon. Where I lived, 00:31:47.64\00:31:49.00 but he moved their, after I moved away up. 00:31:49.03\00:31:51.27 He, he build the cabin of drift would up and that 00:31:51.95\00:31:53.81 desert Canyon lived their ten years. 00:31:53.84\00:31:55.37 Went back to this of the cave one day 00:31:55.40\00:31:59.00 and, and Bob told me a story that he was 00:31:59.03\00:32:01.53 crossing towards the creek, this is a creek out 00:32:01.56\00:32:04.60 in these vast desert mountain wilderness, 00:32:04.63\00:32:07.27 Cactus, burning rocks everywhere, 00:32:08.39\00:32:09.65 it was the hot summer day, but there was some 00:32:10.34\00:32:12.40 had been a rain storm and the creek was swollen. 00:32:12.43\00:32:14.32 We didn't want to get his boots wet and so 00:32:15.11\00:32:16.55 I took off his boots and the socks. 00:32:16.58\00:32:17.76 He stuck his socks in his boots, he tied his laces 00:32:18.46\00:32:20.42 together through them over a shoulder, 00:32:20.45\00:32:22.53 and he went across the creek. And crossing 00:32:22.56\00:32:25.17 the creek through the swollen waters, 00:32:25.20\00:32:26.73 he slipped recover caught himself, 00:32:26.76\00:32:29.98 but his boots fell off his shoulders. 00:32:30.01\00:32:31.68 And now here was out in this burning desert 00:32:32.99\00:32:35.65 with no shoes, no socks. And he describes, 00:32:36.44\00:32:40.28 how dangerous it was, trying to walk over these 00:32:41.83\00:32:44.75 burning hot rocks with cactus everywhere 00:32:44.78\00:32:47.77 with no shoes. I know, exactly what he was talking 00:32:48.39\00:32:50.56 about, if fighting the battle, you need good traction. 00:32:50.59\00:32:54.55 I remember one time, when I was a kid 00:32:56.54\00:32:58.53 growing up, as a little scrappy, a little guy. 00:32:58.56\00:33:01.15 And one reason I got into a few fights is because 00:33:02.24\00:33:05.62 my brother, I went to the same school of my 00:33:06.21\00:33:07.90 brother. My brother fought and had cystic 00:33:07.93\00:33:10.23 fibrosis. And he looked a little different because 00:33:10.26\00:33:13.96 he had flaming red hair and very fair skin. 00:33:13.99\00:33:17.83 And he was abused about my side, even though 00:33:18.93\00:33:20.80 he was my older brother and the kids in his class, 00:33:20.83\00:33:23.28 used to tease him all the time. He used to 00:33:23.31\00:33:24.76 make me so mad because they didn't know, 00:33:24.79\00:33:27.56 how he is struggle with his disease. 00:33:27.59\00:33:29.58 He is to sleeping attendant night, 00:33:29.61\00:33:32.80 he had to get these treatments and he had all 00:33:32.83\00:33:34.17 kinds of problems and operations and, 00:33:34.20\00:33:36.01 and he would get the school, my father named him 00:33:37.10\00:33:38.86 Falcon. You already problems, when your last 00:33:38.89\00:33:41.77 name Batchelor, but the name he could 00:33:41.80\00:33:43.14 Falcon Batchelor. And they used to play with his name 00:33:43.17\00:33:47.16 and call him terrible things and call him turkey, 00:33:47.19\00:33:49.04 and bird brained and all kinds of things, 00:33:49.07\00:33:50.82 when I was in gym one day. As my brother's 00:33:50.85\00:33:53.45 class was leaving and my class was arriving and 00:33:53.48\00:33:57.32 some kids were teasing him. And there just 00:33:57.35\00:34:00.20 indignation came up within me. And I took off 00:34:04.70\00:34:08.17 after one of the kids in the gym in his class, 00:34:08.20\00:34:11.07 who had been making fun my brother just swinging 00:34:11.10\00:34:13.50 and we got into a fight, but I, it happen right after 00:34:14.31\00:34:17.87 I taken off my dress shoes as I was preparing 00:34:17.90\00:34:20.42 to change into my gym clothes and I had my socks 00:34:20.64\00:34:24.82 on and they have just waxed the gym floor. 00:34:24.85\00:34:27.25 And so, we had seen like this. And so there 00:34:29.62\00:34:32.82 I'm trying to box and fight with this guy. 00:34:32.85\00:34:34.89 Now, I'm slide, now all over the place, 00:34:34.92\00:34:36.17 it was absolutely ridiculous. And so while I'm fighting 00:34:36.20\00:34:39.92 with this kid, we're tussling and reaching down 00:34:39.95\00:34:42.81 with one hand and I'm trying to take off my socks 00:34:42.84\00:34:44.96 because at least, if I could get my foot on the 00:34:45.94\00:34:48.32 ground, I get a little bit attraction and when I got 00:34:48.35\00:34:50.13 my socks off and I got my feet on the ground, 00:34:50.16\00:34:52.71 I got some traction then I was able to win. 00:34:52.74\00:34:55.63 You can't fight without traction. By the way, 00:34:57.03\00:34:59.54 if you don't have some traction, you know, 00:35:00.19\00:35:02.69 I'm talking about those old Waffle Stomper Shoes. 00:35:02.72\00:35:05.21 The terrible about brining in the mud that 00:35:06.81\00:35:08.18 they're nice, when you have in the mud, 00:35:08.21\00:35:09.42 if you have on slippery trained, nice that traction 00:35:10.70\00:35:13.14 in your shoes, give a drive off road with slip tires. 00:35:13.17\00:35:17.55 You know, if you don't have good shoes you 00:35:19.09\00:35:20.50 back slide. That's one reason, we need these 00:35:20.53\00:35:23.92 gospel shoes, amen, and we need them synched up. 00:35:23.95\00:35:27.61 So, that we have good foot, footing. 00:35:28.53\00:35:29.90 How beautiful upon the mountain, 00:35:31.15\00:35:32.79 mountains are the feet of those who preach the 00:35:32.82\00:35:35.90 gospel. And occasionally we got to take those 00:35:35.93\00:35:40.04 shoes off, Jesus wash our feet. Amen, 00:35:40.07\00:35:42.86 but you want to have good traction, 00:35:42.89\00:35:45.54 when you're fighting those battles and having those 00:35:45.57\00:35:49.75 Gospel shoes, having your feet sharp with the 00:35:49.78\00:35:53.60 preparation of the Gospel of peace and above all, 00:35:53.63\00:35:56.39 taking the shield of faith with which her able 00:35:57.55\00:36:00.83 to quench all the fiery darks of the wicked one. 00:36:00.86\00:36:04.28 Now, the purpose of the shield and sometimes 00:36:05.57\00:36:07.14 what they do, is they, they would a beat down 00:36:07.17\00:36:09.44 metal thin strips of metal and they would put 00:36:09.47\00:36:11.91 it over a peace of wood, maybe it was covered 00:36:11.94\00:36:14.48 with leather and some metal, metal grading 00:36:14.51\00:36:16.92 and it was usually just about raise higher, a 00:36:16.95\00:36:20.66 little higher the idea being you wanted to be able 00:36:20.69\00:36:23.20 to quench behind it, if there was a hail of Arrows 00:36:23.23\00:36:26.09 coming down and protect yourselves against the 00:36:26.12\00:36:28.96 arrows, that's what Paul is referring to the fiery 00:36:28.99\00:36:31.99 dark. Sometimes they used to light their arrows 00:36:32.02\00:36:34.37 and send flaming arrows, and the shield was 00:36:34.40\00:36:39.58 there because it would provide some insulation 00:36:39.61\00:36:42.07 between you and the arrows, you don't want them 00:36:42.10\00:36:44.40 to actually touch you and we need the shield 00:36:44.43\00:36:48.50 of faith to keep a barrier between us and those 00:36:48.53\00:36:52.68 flaming arrows of temptation that the Devil 00:36:52.71\00:36:55.46 is constantly firing on us. Now, when you got a 00:36:55.49\00:36:59.76 fiery dark, darks aren't very big are they? 00:36:59.79\00:37:01.57 Sparks aren't very big, matches aren't very big, 00:37:03.19\00:37:05.67 but once it hit something it ignites. So, the ideas, 00:37:06.80\00:37:10.64 you want to stop them with your shield before 00:37:10.67\00:37:13.72 they hit anything and ignite anything. 00:37:13.75\00:37:15.96 Don't get anywhere in near those areas of 00:37:17.14\00:37:19.66 temptation. I will talk little bit more about that later 00:37:19.69\00:37:23.20 today, but the way you operated in a practical 00:37:23.23\00:37:26.57 way with the shield of faith is you avoid 00:37:26.60\00:37:29.07 those places in those situations, stay away from 00:37:29.10\00:37:32.88 them hold that shield up. Well, you know, 00:37:32.91\00:37:35.94 you're gonna be tempted. We got a problem with 00:37:35.97\00:37:38.08 alcohol; don't push your card up and down the wine 00:37:38.11\00:37:41.68 section of the market, amen. Just go all the way 00:37:41.71\00:37:45.73 around, if you have too if your problem is ice cream 00:37:45.76\00:37:49.04 don't pick that job at Baskin Robbins and they 00:37:49.07\00:37:51.92 just pray for strength. So, often we you know, 00:37:51.95\00:37:56.48 we put ourselves in these situations where we're 00:37:56.51\00:37:59.15 tempted and we need to have that, that shield of faith. 00:37:59.18\00:38:02.64 You know in other way that, that shield of faith 00:38:04.22\00:38:07.56 operates in a practical sense, it's through faith 00:38:07.59\00:38:12.15 we get the victory, if you believe that Christ 00:38:12.18\00:38:17.78 is with you, that is a shield amen. How often did 00:38:17.81\00:38:22.47 God soldiers go often to battle and they won't 00:38:22.50\00:38:24.62 afraid because they believed the Lord was 00:38:24.65\00:38:26.99 with them. Matter of fact, you and Jesus are 00:38:27.02\00:38:31.30 always a majority. The story we just read about 00:38:31.33\00:38:34.61 Eleazar, Eleazar and David, you know David never 00:38:34.64\00:38:38.16 lost the battle. Eleazar and David, he said if David 00:38:38.19\00:38:43.38 is with me oh when this is the guy that kills the giant. 00:38:43.41\00:38:46.28 You and Jesus will not lose that battle. You know, 00:38:48.47\00:38:51.12 how many times in the Bible, it says that God 00:38:51.15\00:38:53.11 is our shield. The word shield appears about 45 times 00:38:53.14\00:38:56.11 in scripture. And if you know, the Christ is with you, 00:38:56.14\00:38:59.63 you, if you're walking with the Lord and you're 00:38:59.66\00:39:01.72 in the will of God and you're faith of God's presence, 00:39:01.75\00:39:03.99 he sent an army of angels to protect you. 00:39:04.02\00:39:07.24 They'll encamp around you. God becomes a shield 00:39:08.46\00:39:10.89 and fortress for you. And you know you can go 00:39:10.92\00:39:14.99 through life with lot more peace and confidence. 00:39:15.02\00:39:16.61 I don't ring my hands and fear from day-to-day 00:39:17.90\00:39:21.63 I travel all over the place and matter of fact; 00:39:21.66\00:39:23.58 we flew in here this morning and not only is Dwight 00:39:23.61\00:39:28.44 a good pilot, but I trust the Lord and you don't 00:39:28.47\00:39:33.73 want to attempt God, but if you live by faith 00:39:33.76\00:39:35.53 and you know, that you're following the Lord 00:39:35.56\00:39:37.64 then hey, it's like John Wesley said, or rather 00:39:38.23\00:39:41.23 George Woodfield, he said I'm a mortal until my work 00:39:41.96\00:39:44.78 is done; if you're living by faith and you're 00:39:44.81\00:39:47.87 not tempting God then you're immortal until 00:39:47.90\00:39:50.18 your work is done and when God said that your 00:39:50.21\00:39:52.65 work is done; you don't want to live a minute 00:39:52.68\00:39:54.19 longer anyway do you, do you? You won't do, 00:39:54.22\00:39:58.03 hey, this likes nothing compared to 00:39:58.06\00:40:00.08 what God's got prepare for us, Amen. 00:40:00.11\00:40:01.79 Amen. And so you fight that fighter faith that 00:40:01.82\00:40:05.38 you're fighting a long side the Lord. The helmet 00:40:05.41\00:40:08.28 of salvation is a next thing it's mentioned here. 00:40:08.31\00:40:12.03 And take the helmet of salvation. 00:40:12.94\00:40:14.45 Now, the helmets are really important because 00:40:16.21\00:40:18.46 you got your brain and you need to protect it. 00:40:21.84\00:40:25.66 You know, I was really surprise when I was in, 00:40:26.94\00:40:29.86 I don't know what the laws are in Michigan, 00:40:29.89\00:40:31.82 but I was in Southern Illinois couple of days ago, 00:40:31.85\00:40:34.07 and we saw these guys riding down the street 00:40:34.10\00:40:35.25 on their motorcycles at 90 miles an hour. 00:40:35.28\00:40:37.30 No helmet on, my wife used to work in a hospital, 00:40:38.05\00:40:41.19 they called them donor cycles. And because 00:40:41.22\00:40:45.45 people often had irreparable head injury, 00:40:45.48\00:40:48.22 but the other organs maybe could be used. California, 00:40:48.25\00:40:51.29 now you've got wear a helmet. What's a law here 00:40:51.32\00:40:53.67 in Michigan, you have to gotta wear a helmet. 00:40:53.88\00:40:55.57 I know, it's not a fashion statement and you know 00:40:56.49\00:40:59.07 the Harley riders is kind of chase that, 00:40:59.10\00:41:00.92 and so they trying wear the little bitty helmets 00:41:00.95\00:41:02.83 and look like you know, looks like a monastic head 00:41:02.86\00:41:06.73 or something, but I don't know how much it protects, 00:41:06.76\00:41:12.85 but the idea is you want that protection. 00:41:14.52\00:41:16.37 There is a story in the Bible about one of the first 00:41:17.09\00:41:18.90 kings of Israel was the name of Elimelech, 00:41:18.93\00:41:21.10 Abimelech rather and, and he went to fight against 00:41:22.62\00:41:25.02 the city and he took off his helmet and a lady through 00:41:25.05\00:41:28.55 walk off the wall and bunked upon the nogany died. 00:41:28.58\00:41:31.20 How was at the David was able to find and open in 00:41:32.99\00:41:35.17 with Goliath, when Goliath saw the David was coming 00:41:35.20\00:41:37.91 out and he had a stick, he was indignant, 00:41:37.94\00:41:41.52 he push back his helmet or deviser of his helmet that 00:41:41.55\00:41:44.11 exposes his forehead and David said, 00:41:44.14\00:41:45.91 Bingo I was looking for a target. So, you want 00:41:45.94\00:41:51.61 to protect, by the way, you know, on your head, 00:41:51.64\00:41:53.86 you have got seven secret openings. 00:41:53.89\00:41:57.70 You got two eyes and two ears and two nostrils 00:42:00.16\00:42:03.47 and one mouth. These seven sacred places 00:42:03.50\00:42:08.89 and I think that you have to protect what goes in, 00:42:08.92\00:42:13.11 but ought to be careful, what you're looking at. 00:42:16.48\00:42:17.73 Make a covenant with your eyes. I know others 00:42:20.20\00:42:21.64 will be talking at length about this during our day 00:42:21.67\00:42:24.93 together. Ought to be protecting and deciding 00:42:24.96\00:42:28.67 what you listen too. You know, we're all constantly 00:42:28.70\00:42:34.55 being bombarded with visual images just driving 00:42:34.58\00:42:38.96 down the road, walking through the Airport, 00:42:38.99\00:42:40.64 no matter where you are? There are so many 00:42:40.67\00:42:42.82 messages that are constantly assaulting our senses. 00:42:42.85\00:42:46.67 Then as a Christian you need to pray that God 00:42:48.10\00:42:49.74 is gonna put a helmet of heaven's atmosphere 00:42:49.77\00:42:52.72 around your head. I kind of like to think of it is 00:42:52.75\00:42:55.18 something like what the astronauts were. 00:42:55.21\00:42:56.78 Well it's not only protecting you, but it creates 00:42:57.52\00:43:00.15 its own atmosphere, its own pressure. 00:43:00.18\00:43:02.38 Not only that will knows astronauts are doing the space 00:43:03.74\00:43:05.84 walk around the shuttle that helmet is you notice 00:43:05.87\00:43:08.43 devisers got this coding on it, because 00:43:08.46\00:43:10.66 they're being bombarded with the radiation from 00:43:10.69\00:43:13.14 the Sun without the protection of our atmosphere 00:43:13.17\00:43:15.40 and it can do terrible damage. And so they have 00:43:16.44\00:43:18.25 got all kinds of protection in that helmet. 00:43:18.28\00:43:19.71 That's kind of like, what I picture. Paul was today, 00:43:19.74\00:43:22.07 he said put on the astronaut helmet of salvation, 00:43:22.10\00:43:24.32 because you need that whole atmosphere around 00:43:26.16\00:43:28.00 your head. There is so much that were expose 00:43:28.03\00:43:32.25 to these days. Need to pray that God will help us, 00:43:32.28\00:43:35.78 be careful what we look at. What we listen to. 00:43:35.81\00:43:39.02 And you know you're constantly being attacked 00:43:39.05\00:43:43.28 by the Devil and his man of faith you need to be 00:43:43.31\00:43:46.95 aware of it. One reason, we need ongoing revival 00:43:46.98\00:43:49.81 it's, it's like you got a plug in your, your phone 00:43:49.84\00:43:52.88 and your computer all the time even if you're not 00:43:52.91\00:43:55.10 using that the battery was slowly drain, won't it? 00:43:55.13\00:43:58.08 And you just got to know, I got a plug it down. 00:43:58.11\00:44:00.82 You need personal revival and devotions on a regular 00:44:01.66\00:44:04.34 basis to counteract that. I see in my life and I really 00:44:04.37\00:44:10.22 worry sometimes because, I give you an example, 00:44:10.25\00:44:13.34 what I'm talking about you know I travel a lot in often 00:44:13.37\00:44:17.04 rent cars. I was going to meeting in Southern 00:44:17.07\00:44:20.86 California. And there was actually an AMEN Conference 00:44:20.89\00:44:24.59 down in Southern California and I got my rental car 00:44:24.62\00:44:27.75 and I was late, my plane was delayed and 00:44:27.78\00:44:30.23 I'm trying to get there because I need to speak 00:44:30.26\00:44:31.76 that night. And I, you know, hoping the car 00:44:31.79\00:44:34.18 and you do always get a new rental car, if you 00:44:34.21\00:44:36.56 done this before you kind a looking around 00:44:36.59\00:44:37.87 the figure, where everything is and one time 00:44:37.90\00:44:41.32 you know, I never driving a previous before just 00:44:41.35\00:44:44.23 a side note. And I was, I thought well it might be 00:44:44.26\00:44:47.33 interesting a Hopten and think boater like a computer 00:44:47.36\00:44:50.64 and I couldn't figure out where anything 00:44:52.24\00:44:53.63 it was and it didn't even sound like a car. 00:44:53.66\00:44:55.41 And I though you know, it's distracted that I get, 00:44:56.67\00:44:58.73 I have, I just got out of the thing, I thought I'm 00:44:58.76\00:45:00.88 gonna kill myself. So, I still never have driven one, 00:45:00.91\00:45:02.63 but so I get in this car and, I, I go around to, 00:45:03.45\00:45:08.65 where you check out you know, you putting 00:45:08.68\00:45:10.16 on your seat belt and looking for my credit card 00:45:10.19\00:45:11.68 to give them as you checking out with your car. 00:45:11.71\00:45:13.92 And finally I,I said can I have a map and they 00:45:14.32\00:45:16.76 give me a map and as you know, in the car 00:45:16.79\00:45:18.57 five minutes waiting to get out of the rental car 00:45:18.60\00:45:21.38 parking lot, and finally get on the on the road 00:45:21.41\00:45:23.34 and find out where inner state Tennis and then 00:45:23.37\00:45:26.48 I sort of settle down because I know my way 00:45:26.51\00:45:27.82 and for the first time in the six to eight minutes 00:45:27.85\00:45:30.51 I had been in that car. I realize the radio was on, 00:45:30.54\00:45:33.58 when I got in? And it was playing the most 00:45:33.61\00:45:36.96 awful worthily rap diabolical rocky music. 00:45:36.99\00:45:44.62 I mean, it was like exhibit of the worse thing, 00:45:45.31\00:45:47.09 I would have felt terrible, if I had made a pocket 00:45:47.12\00:45:49.56 call during that time. You know, what pocket call is? 00:45:49.59\00:45:51.70 Three accidentally bump yourself on it, and dials 00:45:52.75\00:45:54.30 the last number. I didn't know, what that was my 00:45:54.33\00:45:58.33 son call maybe other day he said dad I got a 00:45:58.36\00:45:59.87 pocket call from you. So, what is the mean, 00:45:59.90\00:46:02.21 well I call him in that bump my phone, he was 00:46:02.24\00:46:03.69 hearing me conversant with some body else, 00:46:03.72\00:46:05.40 but if someone had heard me in my car, 00:46:06.12\00:46:08.82 if he said Doug Batchelor and then he picked up the 00:46:08.85\00:46:10.60 phone and they heard the music. 00:46:10.63\00:46:12.46 He wants to rule at me. What scared me was, 00:46:15.63\00:46:20.17 I was listening to it and I was totally unconscious, 00:46:20.52\00:46:23.83 because I was so used to hearing it in the stores 00:46:25.60\00:46:28.46 and everywhere you go these days. Sometimes 00:46:28.49\00:46:30.49 we be at Mexican restaurant or call somebody 00:46:30.52\00:46:32.46 and though person will say, Doug, where are you? 00:46:32.49\00:46:35.42 Because I had in the background, 00:46:35.45\00:46:36.59 you're hearing and you going and you know, 00:46:36.62\00:46:39.52 I'm sorry I'm here at Chipola and that's you know 00:46:39.55\00:46:42.14 What, can't even get a veggie bridle without 00:46:42.17\00:46:45.46 having to listen to that these days. 00:46:45.49\00:46:46.84 So, you know what I'm saying. It's everywhere 00:46:48.24\00:46:50.60 around us. You want to protect, what goes in your 00:46:50.63\00:46:55.22 mouth and what comes out that helmet of salvation. 00:46:55.25\00:46:58.64 And even you nostrils, do you know for a couple 00:46:59.80\00:47:02.85 of years after I quit smoking, it was so bad for me. 00:47:02.88\00:47:05.55 Someone else would be smoking, I tell, 00:47:06.88\00:47:09.93 I'm gonna smoke that I follow people up the street. 00:47:09.96\00:47:12.54 And when they would exhale and I like to kind a go, 00:47:15.92\00:47:17.18 as I'm not smoking Lord. I find that was under 00:47:18.96\00:47:22.28 conviction you can't do that Doug. She gotta protect 00:47:22.31\00:47:25.40 everything, but we need that helmet of salvation. 00:47:25.43\00:47:29.28 All the time, but the Devil will get through 00:47:31.06\00:47:33.50 to our minds. You're the some total of what 00:47:33.53\00:47:38.00 comes into your mind over the course of your life. 00:47:38.03\00:47:40.57 Amen, amen. The words are come out your mouth, 00:47:40.60\00:47:43.35 that's what you've taken in. And it can change 00:47:44.19\00:47:46.64 you so you have got to choose what goes in and 00:47:46.67\00:47:49.70 feast on the word, clean cleave onto your sword. 00:47:49.73\00:47:53.12 Having the helmet of Salvation and the sword 00:47:57.75\00:48:00.92 of the Spirit that is the word of God. Now, 00:48:00.95\00:48:05.66 Hebrews chapter 4, the word of God is quick and 00:48:06.80\00:48:09.89 powerful and sharper than any two edge sword. 00:48:09.92\00:48:12.12 When you're talking about these implements of war 00:48:12.15\00:48:14.32 in this arsenal, the only one that is really the offense 00:48:14.35\00:48:18.66 weapon, everything else is defensive, 00:48:19.29\00:48:20.60 the shield is defensive. I suppose you get probably 00:48:20.63\00:48:23.28 during knock person down with your shield. 00:48:23.31\00:48:24.74 The helmet, the breastplate, the shoes are all 00:48:24.77\00:48:27.25 pretty much defensive in nature, 00:48:27.28\00:48:29.12 but there is no question that the sword while being 00:48:29.36\00:48:31.71 defensive is also an offense weapon meaning 00:48:31.74\00:48:34.49 you go forth with it and you conquer for Christ. 00:48:34.52\00:48:37.60 It's not enough for us to read our Bible, 00:48:37.63\00:48:39.74 so we can defend our faith. We're also supposed 00:48:39.77\00:48:42.89 to be going forth for Christ conquering, when Jesus 00:48:42.92\00:48:46.29 appears in Revelation as the word of God, 00:48:46.32\00:48:49.25 he is got what coming out of his mouth. 00:48:49.28\00:48:51.67 A two edge sword, why two edges? Because 00:48:53.43\00:48:56.65 it's a dwell nature to the word of God, it's called 00:48:56.68\00:48:59.72 well all the New and the Old Testament. 00:48:59.75\00:49:01.31 The law and the prophets, its Moses and Elijah, 00:49:02.58\00:49:08.39 the two witnesses, this two edge sword, 00:49:10.22\00:49:15.10 we must fill our mind, by the way, it's dwell in nature 00:49:15.13\00:49:18.40 because it that gives you perspective like your 00:49:18.43\00:49:21.10 two eyes, gives you balance. And so we need 00:49:21.13\00:49:24.75 to fortify our minds with the truth of God's word. 00:49:24.78\00:49:27.31 Not only so we can defend what we believe, 00:49:27.34\00:49:29.02 but we need to prepare it to share it. 00:49:29.05\00:49:31.06 And when the Devil comes to us with temptation, 00:49:31.82\00:49:33.78 what did Jesus used to attack the Devil. 00:49:34.47\00:49:37.32 He said, it is written, it is written, it is written, 00:49:40.11\00:49:43.52 and he finally was able to defeat the Devil 00:49:44.17\00:49:46.37 and send him running, because he have the word 00:49:46.40\00:49:50.36 of God. And by the way, does it say that Jesus, 00:49:50.39\00:49:53.68 when he was tempted by the Devil is at just a 00:49:54.50\00:49:56.58 moment Lucifer I got to get my, my Knapsack 00:49:56.61\00:49:58.87 out here and some where in the bag I've got 00:49:58.90\00:50:01.58 a scroll, and see if I can find the reference, 00:50:01.61\00:50:05.52 let me get my laptop out and Laptops are great 00:50:05.55\00:50:08.94 for study, but I found that, what's happened for me. 00:50:08.97\00:50:11.11 as the more-and-more I've dependent on my computer 00:50:11.14\00:50:13.33 to study the word of God. I used to know, 00:50:13.36\00:50:15.29 exactly where to turning my pages and now 00:50:15.32\00:50:18.25 I still remember the words of it's getting the little 00:50:18.28\00:50:20.22 harder to find it actually in the book. 00:50:20.25\00:50:21.73 The Lord wants us to have these things in our mind. 00:50:23.41\00:50:25.49 So, we're prepared, to share what we believe. 00:50:26.31\00:50:28.53 You know, that maybe just think of a story. 00:50:30.05\00:50:31.94 You've all heard of Sam Houston, Houston Texas 00:50:32.44\00:50:34.24 was named after him. He had a son Sam Houston 00:50:34.27\00:50:37.37 Junior and during the Civil War the battle of Shiloh, 00:50:37.67\00:50:42.44 he was actually struck by one of these little 00:50:43.95\00:50:47.57 mini balls, I called them then don't let the word mini 00:50:47.60\00:50:50.22 deceive you, they were really powerful and knock 00:50:51.61\00:50:54.17 the man down flat just like you were hit with the 00:50:54.20\00:50:56.41 sledge hammer and he was shock at the back, 00:50:56.44\00:51:01.17 knock down and when he finally recovered 00:51:01.20\00:51:05.21 his senses, he realized that he was alive, 00:51:05.24\00:51:08.81 he didn't know how to battle he was wounded 00:51:09.64\00:51:10.77 because you know, frequently when you're shocked 00:51:10.80\00:51:12.62 you don't even know because you're so shocked 00:51:12.65\00:51:15.19 by the initial force, a friend came and pulled off 00:51:15.22\00:51:20.36 his knapsack, and the bullet had struck the Bible 00:51:20.70\00:51:25.48 that his mother had given him, a little Bible 00:51:25.51\00:51:27.99 in his knapsack and it is stopped right on Psalm 00:51:28.02\00:51:33.09 70 verse 5. Other word of God is a shield 00:51:33.63\00:51:42.86 and the word of God is our defense, 00:51:42.89\00:51:44.86 interesting story, amen. Amen. And so, 00:51:45.08\00:51:47.75 if the word of God must be hidden and, 00:51:47.78\00:51:49.64 now the seven things that are mention 00:51:49.67\00:51:51.69 among the implements in the armor of God. 00:51:51.72\00:51:54.06 And the seventh one is prayer, prayer that 00:51:54.09\00:51:59.27 represents your relationship, your moral of the 00:51:59.30\00:52:02.97 troops. Having that encouragement of an ongoing 00:52:03.00\00:52:07.31 relationship you know, if we cannot see or commander 00:52:07.34\00:52:11.64 going before us, the troops can become 00:52:11.67\00:52:13.72 them moralize. What happen, when the army, 00:52:13.75\00:52:16.19 what outlet by Joshua, when they couldn't see 00:52:16.22\00:52:18.26 Moses with his hands lifted up, it receding, 00:52:18.29\00:52:20.68 they start to getting discourage, but as long 00:52:21.36\00:52:24.39 as I could see their captain on the hill with his hand 00:52:24.42\00:52:26.82 stretched out, they were victorious? 00:52:26.85\00:52:28.83 I remember reading during the World War II, 00:52:30.31\00:52:32.42 how Isan however knowing that it was gonna 00:52:33.26\00:52:35.38 be a bloody day, D-day. He went out there in England 00:52:35.41\00:52:39.21 and he visited with a troops and he prayed for him. 00:52:39.24\00:52:42.00 And knowing some of the might not comeback, 00:52:43.61\00:52:44.99 but the Moral was very high, as they went out; 00:52:45.02\00:52:47.45 of course Europe is free because of that day. 00:52:47.48\00:52:50.16 And so we need to have a relationship of prayer. 00:52:52.24\00:52:54.43 Notice what Paul says, always praying with all prayer 00:52:54.46\00:52:57.07 and supplication in the Spirit being a watchful to this 00:52:58.04\00:53:00.12 in with all perseverance supplication for all saints. 00:53:00.15\00:53:04.19 all! all! all! When do you think soldiers pray for most? 00:53:07.09\00:53:11.82 When they're in Boot Camp, or before they 00:53:13.16\00:53:15.90 activated on the front lines. And when you know, 00:53:15.93\00:53:20.00 you're getting to engage the enemy, 00:53:20.03\00:53:22.98 how sincerely do you pray them? I remember 00:53:23.87\00:53:28.13 my son; he had one relationship with the Lord, 00:53:28.16\00:53:31.21 when he was in Boot Camp. He had another 00:53:31.24\00:53:33.96 relationship with the Lord, when he was in a rack. 00:53:33.99\00:53:36.92 And they entered hostel territory. 00:53:38.12\00:53:40.57 We're living right now friends on the front lines, 00:53:43.72\00:53:45.51 we need to be living with all prayer, 00:53:46.66\00:53:48.02 we need to have peace that our commander 00:53:49.12\00:53:50.58 is with us and have that kind of relationship with the 00:53:50.61\00:53:52.84 Lord, but we know, that we're in God's hands, 00:53:52.87\00:53:55.08 Amen. Amen. You know, I'm looking at clock 00:53:55.11\00:53:58.67 and I've actually got through most of my points here, 00:53:58.70\00:54:01.41 but I want to share a story within, 00:54:01.62\00:54:02.66 I'm gonna read this to you, it's a true story. 00:54:02.69\00:54:04.78 Speaking about God's Mighty Men. On July 9th, 00:54:08.30\00:54:12.66 1755 during the French and Indian Wars. 00:54:12.69\00:54:15.66 A force of 1500 British soldiers were embellish 00:54:16.88\00:54:19.54 in the open by a small force of French and Indian 00:54:19.57\00:54:22.55 fighters, who are shooting from the woods. 00:54:22.58\00:54:25.11 The British soldiers they are the one, 00:54:26.65\00:54:28.48 who were embellished, trained for European 00:54:28.51\00:54:30.97 War made easy targets. Shoulder-to-shoulder 00:54:31.00\00:54:33.91 in the bright red uniforms and their officers were 00:54:33.94\00:54:36.56 even more exposed on horse back, 00:54:36.59\00:54:38.06 high above the men on the ground making 00:54:38.09\00:54:40.87 perfect targets. The slaughter continued for 00:54:40.90\00:54:43.76 two hours and as nearly 70 percent of the British 00:54:43.79\00:54:47.43 soldiers were cut down, there it was decimated 00:54:47.46\00:54:50.63 out of 1500. One-by-one, the chief's marksmen 00:54:50.66\00:54:55.56 shot the British officers from their horses, 00:54:55.59\00:54:58.65 until only officer remained, amazingly round 00:54:58.68\00:55:02.31 after round was anger this one man, 00:55:02.34\00:55:04.62 twice the young little tennis horse will shot out 00:55:04.65\00:55:06.79 from under him. Twice he grabbed another horse, 00:55:06.82\00:55:09.26 10, 15, 20 rounds were fired by the sharp shooters, 00:55:09.98\00:55:13.37 especially at this officer. Still the officer remained 00:55:13.40\00:55:17.11 unhurt, the native warriors stared in disbelief, 00:55:17.14\00:55:20.12 the riffle sell the myths. 00:55:20.15\00:55:21.96 The chief realize that a mighty power must be 00:55:21.99\00:55:24.92 shielding his men and he commanded his soldiers stop 00:55:24.95\00:55:27.59 firing. This one is under the special protection 00:55:27.62\00:55:30.66 of the great spirit he said, eventually the 00:55:30.69\00:55:33.56 Lieutenant Colonel gathered the remaining troops 00:55:33.59\00:55:35.63 and he led them to safety that evening as the 00:55:35.66\00:55:39.75 last of the wounded men will be in care for, 00:55:39.78\00:55:41.96 the officer noted in armchair in his court, 00:55:42.61\00:55:45.07 it was a bullet hole, he rolled up the sleeve and 00:55:45.83\00:55:48.30 looked at his arm directly under the hole, 00:55:48.33\00:55:49.93 there was no mark on his skin. 00:55:49.96\00:55:51.26 Amaze he took off his court and upon examination 00:55:52.32\00:55:54.83 he found three more holes where bullets 00:55:54.86\00:55:57.23 had passed through his court, but stopped, 00:55:57.44\00:55:59.28 before they reached his body. Nine days after the 00:55:59.31\00:56:02.66 battle, the young Lieutenant Colonel wrote his 00:56:02.69\00:56:05.12 brother, by the all powerful dispensations of 00:56:05.15\00:56:09.56 Providence, I have been protected beyond all human 00:56:09.59\00:56:12.20 probabilities or expectation, for I had four bullets 00:56:12.23\00:56:15.64 through my court, two horses shot from 00:56:15.67\00:56:18.40 under me, and yet escaped unhurt. 00:56:18.43\00:56:20.48 Although death was leveling my companions on every 00:56:21.62\00:56:24.44 side the 23 year old officer went onto become 00:56:24.47\00:56:28.33 the commander and chief of the United States Army, 00:56:28.36\00:56:31.01 the first president of the United States. 00:56:31.65\00:56:33.30 During the years that followed upon his long career 00:56:34.52\00:56:36.59 this man George Washington was never once 00:56:36.62\00:56:38.86 wounded in battle. Washington also escape 00:56:38.89\00:56:42.14 flying bullets on four other occasions and survived 00:56:42.17\00:56:45.24 contracting diphtheria, malaria, small pox, 00:56:45.27\00:56:48.27 and tuberculosis. The Bible says, if thousand 00:56:48.30\00:56:52.07 may fall at your side, 10,000 at your right hand, 00:56:52.10\00:56:55.59 but it will not come now onto you. 00:56:55.98\00:56:57.86 One day, during the revolutionary war of farmer 00:56:59.26\00:57:01.03 was going through the woods, and he saw an officer 00:57:01.06\00:57:06.82 while he heard a voice on the woods. 00:57:06.85\00:57:08.48 And he crept up and you know, he didn't know, 00:57:09.68\00:57:11.00 where there is a Britisher ,or whoever 00:57:11.03\00:57:12.28 it was and he saw that was an officer on his knees 00:57:12.31\00:57:15.14 praying. He didn't interrupt and went back home. 00:57:15.17\00:57:18.10 And said to his wife Millie, we're gonna win this war. 00:57:19.26\00:57:22.54 She said, how do you know? He said, 00:57:22.57\00:57:24.84 I just saw a George Washington kneeling 00:57:24.87\00:57:26.69 praying in the woods. God's is going to answer 00:57:26.72\00:57:30.00 those prayers, I know we're gonna win this war, 00:57:30.03\00:57:32.00 but you know, our commander and chief has 00:57:34.10\00:57:35.60 prayed for his troops. Amen. And we're gonna 00:57:35.63\00:57:39.08 win this war. Amen. And if you going to battle, 00:57:39.11\00:57:41.93 trusting in your commander you will not lose, 00:57:41.96\00:57:45.00 a thousand may fall at your side and 10,000 00:57:45.61\00:57:47.68 around you, but you can stand, if you're wearing 00:57:47.71\00:57:49.92 the armor of God friends. How many of you 00:57:49.95\00:57:52.43 would like to say, I would like to be a man of faith. 00:57:52.46\00:57:54.26 I would like to fight in that army. 00:57:54.29\00:57:56.44 Junior and during the Civil War the battle of Shiloh, 00:57:56.47\00:57:57.44
