00:03:21.23\00:03:25.67 Do not turn Him away 00:03:25.70\00:03:29.30 O Jesus 00:03:29.34\00:03:34.04 My Jesus without Him 00:03:34.08\00:03:40.92 How lost I would be 00:03:40.95\00:03:47.39 Without Him 00:03:47.42\00:03:49.92 I would be dying 00:03:49.96\00:03:55.90 Without Him 00:03:55.93\00:03:58.53 I'd be enslaved 00:03:58.57\00:04:04.04 Without Him 00:04:04.07\00:04:06.81 Life would be hopeless 00:04:06.84\00:04:12.45 But with Jesus 00:04:12.48\00:04:14.52 Thank God I'm saved 00:04:14.55\00:04:21.69 Jesus, O Jesus 00:04:21.72\00:04:29.40 Do you know Him today? 00:04:29.43\00:04:33.77 You can turn Him away 00:04:33.80\00:04:37.51 O Jesus 00:04:37.54\00:04:42.18 My Jesus 00:04:42.21\00:04:46.55 Without Him 00:04:46.58\00:04:49.15 How lost I would be 00:04:49.18\00:04:55.66 Jesus, my Jesus 00:04:55.69\00:05:03.47 without Him 00:05:05.67\00:05:08.40 How lost I would be 00:05:08.44\00:05:14.74 Our panelists today are Sikhu Hlatshwayo. 00:05:38.10\00:05:42.00 She's the vice president for resources 00:05:42.04\00:05:43.97 for the Generation of Youth for Christ. 00:05:44.01\00:05:46.17 She's involved with campus ministries 00:05:46.21\00:05:48.04 on public university campuses all over Michigan. 00:05:48.08\00:05:51.65 She was born in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe 00:05:51.68\00:05:55.75 and then grew up in Bulawayo. 00:05:55.78\00:05:57.69 And after winning a scholarship to study 00:05:57.72\00:05:59.92 in Victoria, British Columbia, 00:05:59.95\00:06:01.82 she did the same and graduated 00:06:01.86\00:06:03.73 from Wellesley College in Boston. 00:06:03.76\00:06:07.50 Wendell Lawrence is a dental surgeon 00:06:07.53\00:06:11.17 and he practices in Southfield, Michigan. 00:06:11.20\00:06:13.44 He was born in Trinidad. 00:06:13.47\00:06:14.97 He's been ASI member for eight years 00:06:15.00\00:06:17.61 and he's on the board of AMEN, 00:06:17.64\00:06:20.51 the Adventist Medical Evangelism Network. 00:06:20.54\00:06:23.35 Patty LaVanture directs cooking schools 00:06:23.38\00:06:25.68 at Country Life Natural Food in Pullman, Michigan. 00:06:25.71\00:06:29.18 She grew up in a Catholic communion, 00:06:29.22\00:06:31.15 later was trained by Mark Antino Finley in Chicago. 00:06:31.19\00:06:36.59 And she is assisted in training wellness centers, 00:06:36.62\00:06:39.83 equipping overseas missionaries plus 00:06:39.86\00:06:41.93 inspiring lay people and pastor's wives 00:06:41.96\00:06:44.60 and equipping churches and outreach. 00:06:44.63\00:06:47.00 Elizabeth Gonsalves-Remington from Long Island, New York, 00:06:47.04\00:06:51.07 She is the president of the ASI Chapter 00:06:51.11\00:06:54.14 in the northeast 00:06:54.18\00:06:55.51 and she directs a home health care agency 00:06:55.54\00:06:58.81 and visiting nurse agency of a 150 staff on Long Island. 00:06:58.85\00:07:03.42 Her heart is for building 00:07:03.45\00:07:04.89 and equipping Christian schools in her native Guyana, 00:07:04.92\00:07:08.22 where the institution is grown from 100 students 00:07:08.26\00:07:11.03 to over 350 now. 00:07:11.06\00:07:13.66 Bill Dull leaves in Calcutta, India 00:07:13.70\00:07:16.20 for last 15 years for he and his wife Lois, 00:07:16.23\00:07:19.67 have established and operate two orphanages 00:07:19.70\00:07:22.70 filled with the 170 children, 00:07:22.74\00:07:25.07 three Bible seminars with 80 students 00:07:25.11\00:07:27.98 and midwifery training program for village midwives. 00:07:28.01\00:07:32.18 Has been an ASI member since 1979 00:07:32.21\00:07:35.52 and has taught medical missionaries 00:07:35.55\00:07:37.29 in a number of places across North America 00:07:37.32\00:07:40.12 and other places in the world and now in India. 00:07:40.16\00:07:42.96 And the reason that we've come together today 00:07:42.99\00:07:45.83 is to review with you the wonderful lesson 00:07:45.86\00:07:50.73 that we've had about the compassion of Jesus Christ 00:07:50.77\00:07:53.50 and we think about the quote of Emma Lazarus 00:07:53.54\00:07:57.07 on the base of the Statue of Liberty, 00:07:57.11\00:07:58.91 "Give me your tired, your poor, 00:07:58.94\00:08:00.81 your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" 00:08:00.84\00:08:03.95 sounds much like the situation of mankind 00:08:03.98\00:08:06.51 2,000 years ago in Palestine and how does it apply today. 00:08:06.55\00:08:12.02 "Give me your tired, your poor" does that apply to us today? 00:08:12.05\00:08:15.72 Amen. 00:08:15.76\00:08:17.43 Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labor 00:08:17.46\00:08:19.79 and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 00:08:19.83\00:08:21.73 Take my yoke upon you, and learn with me, 00:08:21.76\00:08:25.13 I meek and lowly in heart 00:08:25.17\00:08:26.74 and you will find rest for your souls." 00:08:26.77\00:08:28.97 Every part of his ministry was motivated by compassion. 00:08:29.00\00:08:33.58 You've may heard popular 3ABN personal Cheri Peters says 00:08:33.61\00:08:38.15 "Don't forget God is crazy about you." 00:08:38.18\00:08:41.68 What was it about Jesus and His ministry? 00:08:41.72\00:08:44.75 What was it about His ministry that large crowds, 00:08:44.79\00:08:47.86 great multitudes would flock to see Jesus? 00:08:47.89\00:08:52.56 I mean, the Bible said that many tried to touch Him 00:08:52.59\00:08:55.93 because they felt that power was coming out of Him to heal. 00:08:55.96\00:09:00.74 So, He drew attention 00:09:00.77\00:09:02.10 because power was coming out of Him. 00:09:02.14\00:09:04.67 Anybody else? Sikhu? 00:09:04.71\00:09:06.21 I think in addition to that 00:09:06.24\00:09:08.21 I gonna return to John Chapter 9. 00:09:08.24\00:09:10.65 In John Chapter 9 we've the story of the gentleman 00:09:10.68\00:09:13.78 who was blind all his life and then he was healed 00:09:13.82\00:09:16.52 and then when he is taken in before the Sanhedrin 00:09:16.55\00:09:20.02 and they have a problem with the fact 00:09:20.06\00:09:21.46 that he believes Jesus to be prophet. 00:09:21.49\00:09:23.79 In chapter 9 verse 35 it says that 00:09:23.83\00:09:27.53 "Jesus heard that they had cast Him out" 00:09:27.56\00:09:29.83 they had cast Him out of synagogue 00:09:29.86\00:09:31.73 "and when he had found him, he said unto him, 00:09:31.77\00:09:34.20 Dost thou believe on the Son of God?" 00:09:34.24\00:09:36.14 So that Jesus who had a personal interest 00:09:36.17\00:09:39.27 in this gentleman who was being ostracized 00:09:39.31\00:09:41.41 for his faith in God 00:09:41.44\00:09:42.81 and because of that personal interest 00:09:42.84\00:09:44.28 that Jesus took in individuals it made people draw-- 00:09:44.31\00:09:49.18 people were drawn to Him because of that 00:09:49.22\00:09:51.02 because He individually cared about their needs. 00:09:51.05\00:09:53.32 Bill? 00:09:53.36\00:09:55.56 One of the things that I've noticed is that 00:09:55.59\00:09:58.73 when you pay attention to children 00:09:58.76\00:10:01.76 the parents and older people really take note 00:10:01.80\00:10:05.13 and Jesus said, "bring them to Me." 00:10:05.17\00:10:07.44 He held them on His knee, He blessed them 00:10:07.47\00:10:10.14 and the people really took note of His compassion 00:10:10.17\00:10:13.21 for even the little children. 00:10:13.24\00:10:14.98 Patty? 00:10:15.01\00:10:16.44 Well in Isaiah 53 it talks about 00:10:16.48\00:10:18.98 how Jesus had no form or comeliness 00:10:19.01\00:10:22.08 and He had no beauty that we would desire Him. 00:10:22.12\00:10:25.65 But when I think about Jesus 00:10:25.69\00:10:27.39 there must have been some thing amazing, 00:10:27.42\00:10:30.33 some love that emanated out of Him through His eyes, 00:10:30.36\00:10:34.30 through His tone of the voice that just drew people to Him. 00:10:34.33\00:10:37.63 This amazing love that they could sense 00:10:37.67\00:10:40.14 otherwise He wouldn't have be able to appeal 00:10:40.17\00:10:42.64 to individuals and crowds alike. 00:10:42.67\00:10:46.64 Elizabeth? Okay. 00:10:46.68\00:10:49.11 You know, very often people are drawn 00:10:49.14\00:10:51.55 and enthuse by good oratory. 00:10:51.58\00:10:54.35 We've read so many places 00:10:54.38\00:10:56.45 that Jesus was such a wonderful speaker. 00:10:56.48\00:10:59.32 We read about the gentleness of His voice. 00:10:59.35\00:11:02.36 And what was most interesting is the where he taught. 00:11:02.39\00:11:06.39 He used the things that people were accustomed to. 00:11:06.43\00:11:09.93 He used the very things that they did from day to day, 00:11:09.96\00:11:13.27 planting and all the other things 00:11:13.30\00:11:15.60 to bring home a very and much more powerful point. 00:11:15.64\00:11:20.21 Now what I like most about it He could have all the oratory, 00:11:20.24\00:11:25.31 all the good speech and if it was not accompanied 00:11:25.35\00:11:29.25 by those personal compassionate times 00:11:29.28\00:11:33.15 He spent with people it might not have meant us much 00:11:33.19\00:11:37.66 as all the good speaking how canon will do. 00:11:37.69\00:11:42.13 How can we apply these compassionate, 00:11:42.16\00:11:44.43 love and action in the mission were we live and work? 00:11:44.47\00:11:52.34 Have you thought about that the power of His love 00:11:52.37\00:11:55.91 and compassion is really what it was that drew people, 00:11:55.94\00:11:59.68 even though people came for a variety of reasons. 00:11:59.71\00:12:02.65 According to Mark 5 and Mark 6 and John 12, 00:12:02.68\00:12:06.15 it says that spiritual hunger is something that drew them. 00:12:06.19\00:12:10.46 They came to be heal, they had a medical need, 00:12:10.49\00:12:13.19 they were seeking political solution, 00:12:13.23\00:12:16.03 they were desiring relief from a foreign occupying power 00:12:16.06\00:12:19.73 that they were under their pressure 00:12:19.77\00:12:22.40 and some came merely out of curiosity 00:12:22.44\00:12:25.74 but what was it the phrases said 00:12:25.77\00:12:28.24 about the way the crowds came to see Him? 00:12:28.28\00:12:31.31 What was the observation that phrases said? 00:12:31.35\00:12:35.32 In today's language we'll say the world 00:12:35.35\00:12:38.15 has gone mad after Him. 00:12:38.19\00:12:40.69 He was very much like a super star of His day. 00:12:40.72\00:12:44.13 Multitudes came from all around. 00:12:44.16\00:12:46.70 It was not from the particular town 00:12:46.73\00:12:48.63 that He was speaking in at that time. 00:12:48.66\00:12:51.20 The Bible says, I think its Mark says 00:12:51.23\00:12:53.64 that they came from Jerusalem, from Judea, 00:12:53.67\00:12:56.44 from Samaria, from Galilee, from every part 00:12:56.47\00:13:00.58 and I want you to remember 00:13:00.61\00:13:02.01 it's not like today were you took your car 00:13:02.04\00:13:05.08 and you drove from Orlando or you drove from my Miami 00:13:05.11\00:13:09.12 or you drove from wherever you came from. 00:13:09.15\00:13:12.12 They came by foot in hot deserts 00:13:12.15\00:13:17.03 and whatever they heard about and whatever the people thought 00:13:17.06\00:13:20.73 when there was-- in His presence 00:13:20.76\00:13:23.03 was strong enough to keep those multitudes 00:13:23.06\00:13:25.73 coming day after day and the Babylon so said 00:13:25.77\00:13:30.01 some followed Him from town to town 00:13:30.04\00:13:32.91 because they just couldn't get enough 00:13:32.94\00:13:35.44 of what He had to say. 00:13:35.48\00:13:37.95 Have you ever thought what is your motive 00:13:37.98\00:13:40.32 for following Jesus? 00:13:40.35\00:13:43.28 I mean, Jesus said to disciples, follow Me 00:13:43.32\00:13:46.69 and I'll make you fishes of man. 00:13:46.72\00:13:48.69 So I think that our motive should be 00:13:48.72\00:13:50.73 to make fishes of man for Him and the same energy 00:13:50.76\00:13:56.13 that we put into serving others 00:13:56.16\00:13:59.00 would be the savings of our own souls. 00:13:59.03\00:14:03.14 Bill? 00:14:03.17\00:14:04.51 The same way Jesus took the little children, 00:14:04.54\00:14:07.08 He took me. 00:14:07.11\00:14:10.81 Well, you know, when we think about 00:14:10.85\00:14:13.21 we go to church some times because of custom, 00:14:13.25\00:14:16.12 because of family, because of habit 00:14:16.15\00:14:19.25 and when we stop and ask that question, 00:14:19.29\00:14:21.69 why is that that I follow Jesus? 00:14:21.72\00:14:23.56 What is that draws me? Sikhu. 00:14:23.59\00:14:26.90 I just want to say that from working with young people 00:14:26.93\00:14:29.76 and being a young person I think sometimes 00:14:29.80\00:14:32.50 because you go to church so much and you here about 00:14:32.53\00:14:34.97 how you follow Christ for the wrong motives 00:14:35.00\00:14:36.71 and that's not good and I completely agree 00:14:36.74\00:14:39.67 but the danger becomes that as a young person 00:14:39.71\00:14:42.14 I don't want to follow Jesus for the wrong motives 00:14:42.18\00:14:44.31 and because I know that my motives are wrong 00:14:44.35\00:14:46.45 I choose not to follow Him at all 00:14:46.48\00:14:48.82 and it may some kind of surprising 00:14:48.85\00:14:50.49 but there are actually lot of young people out there 00:14:50.52\00:14:52.89 who don't want to be a hypocrite 00:14:52.92\00:14:54.59 and that's the reason they don't come to church 00:14:54.62\00:14:56.32 and yet Jesus says come just as you are. 00:14:56.36\00:14:59.53 And even though your motives are wrong 00:14:59.56\00:15:00.93 and you may be coming to church for all the wrong reasons 00:15:00.96\00:15:03.57 but when you're in church 00:15:03.60\00:15:04.93 that's where Jesus can reach you. 00:15:04.97\00:15:06.30 Just come even if you have the wrong motives and pray 00:15:06.33\00:15:08.47 and God is the one who change your motives. 00:15:08.50\00:15:11.34 Yeah, I really appreciate Sikhu bring out that point 00:15:11.37\00:15:14.18 because I think young people are so amazing. 00:15:14.21\00:15:17.58 They can see through so much 00:15:17.61\00:15:20.35 and they don't want to be hypocrites 00:15:20.38\00:15:22.52 but like you said it's better to come 00:15:22.55\00:15:25.65 for the wrong motives then do not come at all 00:15:25.69\00:15:27.52 because Jesus can change our motives. 00:15:27.56\00:15:30.39 And we talked the other day about 00:15:30.43\00:15:32.49 all the different motives 00:15:32.53\00:15:33.86 that people had for coming to Jesus. 00:15:33.90\00:15:35.23 Some wanted physical healings, some wanted spiritual healings, 00:15:35.26\00:15:39.53 some are just curious, some wanted to trick Him. 00:15:39.57\00:15:44.11 They're jealous of the power 00:15:44.14\00:15:49.14 that Jesus had over the people and they wanted-- 00:15:49.18\00:15:52.05 may be they wanted that for themselves 00:15:52.08\00:15:53.65 I'm not sure but they hated Him 00:15:53.68\00:15:56.65 for what they saw in Him rather then loving Him. 00:15:56.69\00:15:59.49 So it's just amazing. 00:15:59.52\00:16:00.86 We do need to search our motives 00:16:00.89\00:16:02.22 but like Bill said Jesus when He came into my life 00:16:02.26\00:16:05.29 and touched me I had to follow Him wherever He led. 00:16:05.33\00:16:10.77 You know, Brother Richard Bland with United Prison Ministries 00:16:10.80\00:16:14.07 with the captive audience that he served, 00:16:14.10\00:16:16.67 he said they can really see through. 00:16:16.71\00:16:18.97 They can tell a phony immediately. 00:16:19.01\00:16:21.08 They have insight to be able to discern 00:16:21.11\00:16:25.15 what a person's real motive is and we need to look and see 00:16:25.18\00:16:28.38 what our motives are really and to be passionate about 00:16:28.42\00:16:32.75 what we live for. 00:16:32.79\00:16:35.42 We live in a very impersonal world today. 00:16:35.46\00:16:38.16 For example, if you got to touch tone phone press one. 00:16:38.19\00:16:42.43 We live in a iPod, ecommerce technological age 00:16:42.46\00:16:47.44 and how is it that compassion relates to a personal touch 00:16:47.47\00:16:51.84 in such an environment that we live in today. 00:16:51.87\00:16:55.88 You know, I missed all the techno buzz 00:16:55.91\00:16:59.45 and the E world we live in, people in society 00:16:59.48\00:17:02.88 are still yearning for that personal touch, 00:17:02.92\00:17:07.12 for their heart fill personal relationship 00:17:07.16\00:17:09.92 that nothing else can replace. 00:17:09.96\00:17:11.93 I think if we do that God is gonna use us 00:17:11.96\00:17:14.30 in a powerful way to touch someone's life 00:17:14.33\00:17:17.37 admits all this technology 00:17:17.40\00:17:19.27 and ecommerce in our society today. 00:17:19.30\00:17:22.24 You know, we can only make a friend 00:17:22.27\00:17:23.71 one at a time, don't we? 00:17:23.74\00:17:26.11 And people do business with people they like. 00:17:26.14\00:17:30.55 And so if we make ourselves available to others 00:17:30.58\00:17:33.92 and win friendships then we have to win a friend 00:17:33.95\00:17:36.55 before we can win a friend of Christ. 00:17:36.58\00:17:39.92 If our life and witness lacks power 00:17:39.95\00:17:43.29 are we misrepresenting the character 00:17:43.32\00:17:45.26 and mission of Jesus? 00:17:45.29\00:17:49.53 Absolutely. 00:17:49.56\00:17:51.00 You know, the Bible talks about how we have-- 00:17:51.03\00:17:53.20 we have this treasure in earthen vessels 00:17:53.23\00:17:55.50 and I think the more we realize are nothingness, 00:17:55.54\00:18:00.11 the more we realize our need for Jesus, 00:18:00.14\00:18:02.31 the more we realize He is our only sufficiency. 00:18:02.34\00:18:05.38 He is all we can give. 00:18:05.41\00:18:07.18 So, if we go to God, just say, Lord, 00:18:07.22\00:18:09.25 I mean empty vessel. 00:18:09.28\00:18:10.99 I have nothing to give except what You put in me, 00:18:11.02\00:18:14.82 we will have what the world needs. 00:18:14.86\00:18:17.93 How is that the personal touch of someone influence you 00:18:17.96\00:18:23.16 to accept Jesus Christ as a personal Savior? 00:18:23.20\00:18:28.40 Well, I could speak from-- I grew up in a Adventist home. 00:18:28.44\00:18:32.67 So, from an early age, 00:18:32.71\00:18:34.04 you know, my parents personal touch 00:18:34.08\00:18:35.41 had a huge influence in me 00:18:35.44\00:18:36.88 making the decision to follow Christ. 00:18:36.91\00:18:38.91 But I particularly remember when I left home 00:18:38.95\00:18:41.22 and I went school in Canada being far away 00:18:41.25\00:18:43.82 from the home for the first time in my life 00:18:43.85\00:18:45.89 I went through some, 00:18:45.92\00:18:47.79 I guess I had to recommit myself to Christ 00:18:47.82\00:18:50.53 and make the decision to keep Sabbath, 00:18:50.56\00:18:52.26 not do home work on the Sabbath day 00:18:52.29\00:18:53.70 and stuff like that. 00:18:53.73\00:18:55.06 Again a challenge that I faced is that 00:18:55.10\00:18:57.17 the school that I went to was about 00:18:57.20\00:18:58.73 30 minutes away from the nearest Church, 00:18:58.77\00:19:01.10 30 minute drive and I had no transportation 00:19:01.14\00:19:04.44 and there was just one particular family 00:19:04.47\00:19:06.14 that took me in as their own and they lived 30 minutes away 00:19:06.17\00:19:10.01 from the Church in the opposite direction. 00:19:10.05\00:19:12.25 They would drive an hour to come pick me up 00:19:12.28\00:19:14.58 and hour back to the church 00:19:14.62\00:19:16.28 and the same thing to drop me back home. 00:19:16.32\00:19:18.85 And that made a huge impact and when I was deciding 00:19:18.89\00:19:21.76 whether or not I was gonna keep the Sabbath or not 00:19:21.79\00:19:23.63 if this family was willing to do that for me 00:19:23.66\00:19:26.86 then I wanted to be faithful to God 00:19:26.90\00:19:29.43 because they were being faithful to me. 00:19:29.46\00:19:31.37 And that was a-- that made a difference in me 00:19:31.40\00:19:33.27 making the decision for Christ to go all the way for Him. 00:19:33.30\00:19:36.60 Amen. Amen. 00:19:36.64\00:19:39.54 Henry, I know for me God sent someone 00:19:39.57\00:19:42.04 into the store were I worked. 00:19:42.08\00:19:44.35 And I was thankful that that person was listening 00:19:44.38\00:19:46.95 to the voice of the Holy Spirit because he had no reason 00:19:46.98\00:19:50.65 to go into the store where I was 00:19:50.69\00:19:52.55 and it was at a time when I was praying 00:19:52.59\00:19:54.69 that the Lord would lead me to the Church 00:19:54.72\00:19:56.42 where He wanted me to be 00:19:56.46\00:19:57.99 and I'm just so thankful for that person touch. 00:19:58.03\00:20:03.03 Yeah, praise the Lord. 00:20:03.06\00:20:04.40 I'm sure that someone was ready at the right time. 00:20:04.43\00:20:07.17 Even a word or date or some literature 00:20:07.20\00:20:09.44 or something is available 00:20:09.47\00:20:10.81 but the personal touch of people 00:20:10.84\00:20:12.87 is really the most significant thing, isn't it? 00:20:12.91\00:20:17.55 "Those who are fighting the battle of life 00:20:17.58\00:20:19.88 at great odds may be strengthened 00:20:19.91\00:20:21.68 and encouraged by the little attentions 00:20:21.72\00:20:24.09 that cost only a loving effort. 00:20:24.12\00:20:27.06 Such a strong helpful grasp 00:20:27.09\00:20:28.89 by the hand of true friend 00:20:28.92\00:20:30.33 is worth more than gold or silver. 00:20:30.36\00:20:33.16 Words of kindness are as welcome 00:20:33.19\00:20:35.26 as the smile of angels." 00:20:35.30\00:20:37.10 According to the Ministry of Healing, 158. 00:20:37.13\00:20:39.67 I know when someone who is working, 00:20:39.70\00:20:42.27 cleaning a restroom at the airport 00:20:42.30\00:20:44.37 or someone who is working at the counter at the airport 00:20:44.41\00:20:46.98 if you say to them, thank you very much 00:20:47.01\00:20:49.28 for the contribution you are making 00:20:49.31\00:20:50.75 or thank you for keeping this place clean 00:20:50.78\00:20:52.65 or you have been an answer to prayer to me today 00:20:52.68\00:20:55.05 to someone that is helped you at a bank 00:20:55.08\00:20:57.52 or some other agency that their faces can just slide up 00:20:57.55\00:21:01.82 and it really is a, it really is a pleasant reaction 00:21:01.86\00:21:05.26 and you can represent in a personal way Jesus Christ. 00:21:05.29\00:21:08.60 Pastor Wintley Phipps likes to say, 00:21:08.63\00:21:11.03 "Never go next door with a tracked in hand 00:21:11.07\00:21:14.80 unless you first been there with a helping hand." 00:21:14.84\00:21:18.27 And I think that that really is true. 00:21:18.31\00:21:20.18 Go stack ward for a neighbor who needs help 00:21:20.21\00:21:23.08 or whatever it might be that they have a need for. 00:21:23.11\00:21:26.01 People were attracted to Jesus 00:21:26.05\00:21:28.08 and they listen with delight according to Mark 12, 00:21:28.12\00:21:31.62 and they were amazed at His teaching. 00:21:31.65\00:21:34.29 How was He able to personally impact 00:21:34.32\00:21:37.16 both individuals and crowds alike? 00:21:37.19\00:21:39.93 He was equally effected-- effective with big crowds 00:21:39.96\00:21:43.97 as well as individuals. 00:21:44.00\00:21:45.33 How was it that He was able to do that? 00:21:45.37\00:21:49.50 We have got a classic example of the woman at the well. 00:21:49.54\00:21:53.94 That was a one on one contact. 00:21:53.98\00:21:57.18 He took the time to talk with her. 00:21:57.21\00:22:00.78 He sure had some foreknowledge because of who He was 00:22:00.82\00:22:04.75 but eventually when He was able to offer her the living water 00:22:04.79\00:22:10.06 she brought many people 00:22:10.09\00:22:12.29 from the village to come and talk to Him. 00:22:12.33\00:22:15.36 You know, it made all the difference there 00:22:15.40\00:22:18.10 the way He dealt with her. 00:22:18.13\00:22:19.67 He could have just said, "Give me some water," 00:22:19.70\00:22:22.20 she gave Him the water, "thank you and left her alone." 00:22:22.24\00:22:26.37 In today's very, very busy world, 00:22:26.41\00:22:29.54 you know, we have a common greeting 00:22:29.58\00:22:31.31 when we reach people. 00:22:31.35\00:22:32.68 How are you doing? 00:22:32.71\00:22:34.22 But how often have we stopped 00:22:34.25\00:22:36.38 for a couple seconds to hear a response 00:22:36.42\00:22:39.52 to that "How are you doing?" 00:22:39.55\00:22:41.92 You do stop sometimes and some of the times 00:22:41.96\00:22:44.59 you have stopped you have to stop the conversation 00:22:44.63\00:22:48.40 because you realize that the people are so hungry, 00:22:48.43\00:22:51.80 people are so wanting to talk to somebody 00:22:51.83\00:22:54.70 and say something that's bothering them 00:22:54.74\00:22:57.51 that the listening ear means a lot. 00:22:57.54\00:23:00.31 I have personally promised myself 00:23:00.34\00:23:02.91 that as often as I can 00:23:02.94\00:23:05.65 and more often than not make the time 00:23:05.68\00:23:07.85 to listen a little bit. 00:23:07.88\00:23:09.75 And when you listen just listening, 00:23:09.78\00:23:12.69 I have been able to say to so many people. 00:23:12.72\00:23:15.89 Well, do you know the Bible says 00:23:15.92\00:23:18.39 "Come unto me, all ye that labor 00:23:18.43\00:23:21.00 and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." 00:23:21.03\00:23:24.73 For me that's the best word 00:23:24.77\00:23:26.53 we can offer to anybody in today's world. 00:23:26.57\00:23:29.67 Today you talk to people and all they say to you, 00:23:29.70\00:23:32.34 "I'm stressed, I'm tired." 00:23:32.37\00:23:35.24 Now this is not the way God intended life to be. 00:23:35.28\00:23:38.71 And I have promised myself 00:23:38.75\00:23:40.35 that by His grace as often as I have the opportunity 00:23:40.38\00:23:45.09 to point someone to somebody, who is really, 00:23:45.12\00:23:49.59 personally and individually interested in our lives. 00:23:49.62\00:23:54.60 And my favorite statement is, God is so interested in us 00:23:54.63\00:23:59.43 and knows so much about us that He knows 00:23:59.47\00:24:02.24 how many grains of hair is on our head. 00:24:02.27\00:24:06.04 I am happy to have such a Savior 00:24:06.07\00:24:08.84 and I just keep asking God to help me, to help me, 00:24:08.88\00:24:12.71 to be like Him where I can touch another life 00:24:12.75\00:24:16.45 to bring others to know Him better. 00:24:16.48\00:24:19.29 Well, following on what you have said, Elizabeth, 00:24:19.32\00:24:21.52 how have the rest of you found the way 00:24:21.56\00:24:23.73 to be able to minister effectively one on one. 00:24:23.76\00:24:30.17 You know, our home has always been our-- 00:24:30.20\00:24:35.04 the centre of our evangelism. 00:24:35.07\00:24:36.74 My wife has been a great blessing. 00:24:36.77\00:24:39.47 And when we were in New York, 00:24:39.51\00:24:41.91 we were in Washington Square Park 00:24:41.94\00:24:44.18 and we had-- we would do park ministry. 00:24:44.21\00:24:49.38 We would sing songs and do health talks and all 00:24:49.42\00:24:53.19 and one of the prostitutes that the park 00:24:53.22\00:24:57.16 she came up to us, she came up to me 00:24:57.19\00:25:01.23 and she said "I'm tired of the life that I am living, 00:25:01.26\00:25:05.57 I would like to come home with you, 00:25:05.60\00:25:07.07 would you take me?" 00:25:07.10\00:25:08.90 And so, we took her out to our home. 00:25:08.94\00:25:11.21 We put her in our home with us, with our children. 00:25:11.24\00:25:15.08 And she just grew unbelievably 00:25:15.11\00:25:17.68 with the morning worships and everything 00:25:17.71\00:25:20.72 and she was with us for several months 00:25:20.75\00:25:24.65 and she eventually wanted to go back to the city. 00:25:24.69\00:25:27.66 We took her back to the city. 00:25:27.69\00:25:29.19 She went back into prostitution. 00:25:29.22\00:25:31.93 But then we were in the park doing park ministry, 00:25:31.96\00:25:35.43 again she came and she said "I don't want this life. 00:25:35.46\00:25:38.70 I want to comeback will to take me back?' 00:25:38.73\00:25:40.77 We said, "Yes, we will take you." 00:25:40.80\00:25:42.64 We took her back into our home. 00:25:42.67\00:25:45.17 And she was with us a short time. 00:25:45.21\00:25:46.98 Three times she went to the park, back to the park. 00:25:47.01\00:25:50.48 But the last time she said "I'll never do it again, 00:25:50.51\00:25:54.55 please take me again. 00:25:54.58\00:25:56.95 I want to change my life. 00:25:56.99\00:25:58.39 I want to follow Jesus all the way." 00:25:58.42\00:26:00.16 And she did. Her life was changed. 00:26:00.19\00:26:03.29 She said "I have a son that I gave away 00:26:03.32\00:26:06.70 when he was born." 00:26:06.73\00:26:08.30 She said "I want to get him back. 00:26:08.33\00:26:10.63 I want raise my boy. I want to be a Christian." 00:26:10.67\00:26:14.20 Arleen changed her life. Praise God. 00:26:14.24\00:26:16.57 She was baptized. 00:26:16.60\00:26:18.74 She became a secretary. 00:26:18.77\00:26:25.31 She-- just a few months ago 00:26:25.35\00:26:28.98 her son wrote me a letter and he said 00:26:29.02\00:26:32.29 "You don't know what you did for our family. 00:26:32.32\00:26:35.12 You changed our entire life 00:26:35.16\00:26:37.49 and I want to thank you for what you did for me." 00:26:37.53\00:26:40.73 Amen. 00:26:40.76\00:26:42.10 It seems that Jesus wants to... 00:26:42.13\00:26:49.77 It seems that Jesus wants to setup 00:26:49.80\00:26:51.87 a branch office in our town, doesn't He? 00:26:51.91\00:26:54.78 Yeah He wants to live in our neighborhood 00:26:54.81\00:26:57.65 and delve in our heart and develop a partnership 00:26:57.68\00:27:01.48 with each one of us 00:27:01.52\00:27:03.12 and pitch His tent in our refugee camp. 00:27:03.15\00:27:06.76 Anyone else have a personal contact like that? 00:27:06.79\00:27:10.53 Well, you know, as a dentist 00:27:10.56\00:27:14.76 when I have patient in the chair, 00:27:14.80\00:27:16.50 I have a very captive audience. 00:27:16.53\00:27:17.87 Indeed. 00:27:17.90\00:27:19.23 And while I'm working on them they can't really say anything. 00:27:19.27\00:27:23.30 So I can give an entire Bible study. 00:27:23.34\00:27:25.94 And when I'm finished then we can ask questions, 00:27:25.97\00:27:29.88 you know, and so from time to time 00:27:29.91\00:27:31.91 I do that in my dental chair and God has brought many people 00:27:31.95\00:27:37.39 to knowledge of Him through this method. 00:27:37.42\00:27:40.62 Amen. 00:27:40.66\00:27:43.46 We really are strategically placed 00:27:43.49\00:27:45.36 for God can hear us, aren't we? 00:27:45.39\00:27:46.80 That's right. 00:27:46.83\00:27:48.16 And, Henry, you know, that's one thing 00:27:48.20\00:27:49.53 that I think about a lot. 00:27:49.56\00:27:50.97 Each one of us is strategically placed, 00:27:51.00\00:27:53.57 it's not about-- there's nobody 00:27:53.60\00:27:55.20 that's more important 00:27:55.24\00:27:56.57 or less important than anybody else. 00:27:56.60\00:27:58.71 It's about God putting each one us 00:27:58.74\00:28:01.91 where you will be in touch with the very people 00:28:01.94\00:28:04.91 that He knows you can be a blessing to 00:28:04.95\00:28:07.42 and also where you are going to receive the very blessings 00:28:07.45\00:28:11.99 and trials that will develop a character in you, 00:28:12.02\00:28:15.46 that the Lord-- that He is just trying 00:28:15.49\00:28:16.83 to paint a picture in everyone of us. 00:28:16.86\00:28:19.13 So, wherever you are you are there 00:28:19.16\00:28:21.20 for all those reasons. 00:28:21.23\00:28:23.97 And don't ever think that your most humble effort are futile. 00:28:24.00\00:28:31.74 I remember as a little guy 00:28:31.77\00:28:34.31 sitting at the knee of my dear grandfather 00:28:34.34\00:28:37.55 after he return from South America 00:28:37.58\00:28:39.75 were he had gone to be the first minister 00:28:39.78\00:28:43.25 of our faith baptizing the first person 00:28:43.28\00:28:46.05 and starting the first Church in Argentina, 00:28:46.09\00:28:48.92 Brazil and Chile where my mother was born. 00:28:48.96\00:28:51.69 And he told about the first series of meetings 00:28:51.73\00:28:54.70 that he had conducted in Punta Arenas. 00:28:54.73\00:28:58.87 Punta Arenas as you know 00:28:58.90\00:29:00.64 is the further most southern city 00:29:00.67\00:29:03.30 in the whole world on the bottom of Chile 00:29:03.34\00:29:06.34 and you face across the sea to the Antarctica. 00:29:06.37\00:29:10.81 And he put up posters and hand bells 00:29:10.85\00:29:13.11 and rented a hall and expected to be able 00:29:13.15\00:29:15.85 to get a good size crowd. 00:29:15.88\00:29:18.09 He didn't know what God would send him. 00:29:18.12\00:29:20.36 But only one lady, one lady 00:29:20.39\00:29:24.03 and her son came to that effort. 00:29:24.06\00:29:27.26 And he went ahead and preached 00:29:27.30\00:29:28.63 as thought there were 100 or 1,000 people there. 00:29:28.66\00:29:32.67 And I didn't know what the outcome of that was 00:29:32.70\00:29:35.70 but it's 1942 or 1943 when he told me that story 00:29:35.74\00:29:39.44 and encourage me never to think that 00:29:39.47\00:29:42.24 what small effort that we are able 00:29:42.28\00:29:44.15 to invest might be able to have a result. 00:29:44.18\00:29:48.68 And a two or three years ago 00:29:48.72\00:29:50.59 my wife and I were in King Texas 00:29:50.62\00:29:52.62 for our 100th anniversary celebration 00:29:52.65\00:29:56.02 of my mother's last cousin who came from Argentina. 00:29:56.06\00:30:01.70 Dr. Herbert Westphal and he was-- 00:30:01.73\00:30:05.47 he recited the Ten Commandments for us in German 00:30:05.50\00:30:08.37 and he sang for us in Spanish 00:30:08.40\00:30:10.54 and he still had his good sense of humor. 00:30:10.57\00:30:12.97 He is awaiting the Lords return now. 00:30:13.01\00:30:15.91 But I learned at that time the rest of the story. 00:30:15.94\00:30:19.28 Out of that meeting and Punta Arenas 00:30:19.31\00:30:21.38 the grandpa of Frank Westphal had 00:30:21.42\00:30:24.02 that there came over 200 00:30:24.05\00:30:26.39 Seventh-day Adventist Christians, 00:30:26.42\00:30:28.32 60 or 70 denominational employees, 00:30:28.36\00:30:31.56 two conference Presidents and two Evangelists 00:30:31.59\00:30:34.23 that no doubt contributed the thousands of others 00:30:34.26\00:30:37.40 discovering Jesus Christ. 00:30:37.43\00:30:39.47 So, he won't know that until the kingdom. 00:30:39.50\00:30:42.60 And you and I won't know the results 00:30:42.64\00:30:44.47 of the little things we do 00:30:44.51\00:30:45.94 where God strategically places us 00:30:45.97\00:30:48.48 to be able to come in contact with someone. 00:30:48.51\00:30:51.28 Now Sister Slicker says in her prayer time 00:30:51.31\00:30:53.82 in the morning "Who today Lord? 00:30:53.85\00:30:55.88 Who today?" 00:30:55.92\00:30:57.72 Go and do like wise, dear ones. God bless you. 00:30:57.75\00:31:05.69 Thank you, members. 00:31:07.60\00:31:09.76 You have an opportunity and we have an opportunity 00:31:09.80\00:31:13.40 to make an investment of the time 00:31:13.44\00:31:15.37 that we have been given and the opportunities 00:31:15.40\00:31:18.17 He allows to cross our path 00:31:18.21\00:31:20.18 and there will be people in the kingdom as result. 00:31:20.21\00:31:24.61 At this time you have an opportunity 00:31:34.49\00:31:36.36 to give a Sabbath school missions offering. 00:31:36.39\00:31:40.70 This offering shouldn't be confused 00:31:40.73\00:31:42.30 with the ASI project offering that will be taken later 00:31:42.33\00:31:46.77 and please don't use the envelopes 00:31:46.80\00:31:48.67 that were on the chairs 00:31:48.70\00:31:50.24 when you came into the auditorium. 00:31:50.27\00:31:52.77 This is the offering that you normally give 00:31:52.81\00:31:54.64 at your home Sabbath school and is for the World Missions 00:31:54.68\00:31:57.95 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:31:57.98\00:32:00.72 Thank you for you generosity 00:32:00.75\00:32:02.12 and the ushers will wade on you now. 00:32:02.15\00:32:06.39 Good morning, ASI family. 00:36:50.57\00:36:52.57 Good morning. 00:36:52.61\00:36:54.18 I can't believe eight years ago 00:36:54.21\00:36:55.88 we started taking about New Beginnings DVD project 00:36:55.91\00:36:59.95 and it's been an exiting eight years. 00:36:59.98\00:37:03.39 We worked closely with 00:37:03.42\00:37:04.85 It Is Written in many other organizations 00:37:04.89\00:37:07.62 and I can't believe what the-- how the Lord has blessed. 00:37:07.66\00:37:11.16 Amen. Amen. 00:37:11.19\00:37:12.53 You know, another thing is that we've worked 00:37:12.56\00:37:13.90 with numerous supporting ministries 00:37:13.93\00:37:16.33 partnering together to share the gospel 00:37:16.36\00:37:19.10 throughout the world 00:37:19.13\00:37:20.97 and also a partnership with ShareHim 00:37:21.00\00:37:23.94 as we go to prepare the way for the evangelist meetings 00:37:23.97\00:37:27.28 that take place with ShareHim. 00:37:27.31\00:37:29.01 It's been a wonderful partnership 00:37:29.04\00:37:30.38 and is continuing on with the Lord's blessing. 00:37:30.41\00:37:33.28 We have been working with many great organizations 00:37:33.31\00:37:36.48 and we have been particularly with Jonathan Kuntaraf 00:37:36.52\00:37:39.59 from the world church along with Pastor Mike Ryan 00:37:39.62\00:37:43.02 and, Pastor Mark Finely and it's been blessing 00:37:43.06\00:37:46.66 to see how with laity and the church working together 00:37:46.70\00:37:50.83 the things that the Lord has done. 00:37:50.87\00:37:53.54 And I know that Viorel, I believe is it right now 00:37:53.57\00:37:57.11 as we speak can we safely say 00:37:57.14\00:37:59.61 that someone is learning about Jesus through this program? 00:37:59.64\00:38:03.81 Denzil, I would say that it's safe to say 00:38:03.85\00:38:06.21 that at this very moment and 24 hours a day 00:38:06.25\00:38:09.32 and seven days a week somewhere in the world 00:38:09.35\00:38:11.65 it's learning about God through the New Beginning DVD 00:38:11.69\00:38:14.96 from the laypeople that been trained 00:38:14.99\00:38:16.79 and equipped all around the world. 00:38:16.83\00:38:19.49 How many places have we done this training, Viorel? 00:39:19.19\00:39:23.93 Mexico City is the largest city in the world 00:39:23.96\00:39:28.10 that has a population of 26 million. 00:39:28.13\00:39:31.63 It's a Catholic country 00:39:31.67\00:39:33.00 but they are two Adventist conferences 00:39:33.03\00:39:34.70 in Mexico City as take a mission 00:39:34.74\00:39:37.27 were last year in the middle of the year 00:39:37.31\00:39:39.77 we trained 170 laypeople to do evangelism. 00:39:39.81\00:39:43.28 Last December there were 500 laypeople 00:39:43.31\00:39:47.62 that came to training in Mexico City. 00:39:47.65\00:39:51.32 In order to get our respective on how it was so effective 00:39:51.35\00:39:55.49 I would like to tell you a story. 00:39:55.52\00:39:58.63 When I was young lawyer working 00:39:58.66\00:40:00.00 for the navy department in Washington 00:40:00.03\00:40:03.37 in that patriotic environment 00:40:03.40\00:40:04.83 I decided to join the Marine Corps 00:40:04.87\00:40:07.80 and as my buddies and I were leaving for boot camp 00:40:07.84\00:40:10.61 from Union Station in Washington DC, 00:40:10.64\00:40:13.78 Major General William Fairborn 00:40:13.81\00:40:15.88 came down to say good bye to wish as well. 00:40:15.91\00:40:19.68 And I learned something that day that applies to ASI 00:40:19.71\00:40:23.02 and that is that in the Marine Corps 00:40:23.05\00:40:26.99 the lowest recruit and the highest officer 00:40:27.02\00:40:30.83 in head quarters are both on the team. 00:40:30.86\00:40:35.10 We are team ASI together. 00:40:35.13\00:40:38.43 You folks provided the money for the Mexico City. 00:40:38.47\00:40:42.67 There is an infrastructure 00:40:42.70\00:40:44.04 that allows arrangements to be made. 00:40:44.07\00:40:46.17 When we went money had to be wired 00:40:46.21\00:40:48.78 by the General Conference. 00:40:48.81\00:40:50.15 We couldn't take 500 DVD players through customs 00:40:50.18\00:40:53.72 so the money had to go there. 00:40:53.75\00:40:56.08 Viorel Catarama made arrangements. 00:40:56.15\00:40:58.89 The Inter-America Division was holy supportive 00:40:58.92\00:41:02.22 of what we were doing. 00:41:02.26\00:41:03.83 They sent Sergio Moctezuma pastor, 00:41:03.86\00:41:06.83 they sent Carlyle Bayne's, ministerial man 00:41:06.86\00:41:09.86 to lend their influence to the media. 00:41:09.90\00:41:12.67 Gail, would you tell us 00:41:12.70\00:41:14.04 as they show the pictures of Mexico 00:41:14.07\00:41:15.94 what subjects we taught at the seminar? 00:41:15.97\00:41:19.21 Well, we gave evangelism God's way 00:41:19.24\00:41:22.54 with combined efforts with pastors and laity 00:41:22.58\00:41:27.08 and we also talked about the power of the Holy Spirit 00:41:27.12\00:41:30.75 an intercessory prayer. 00:41:30.79\00:41:33.49 We also told them how to get an audience 00:41:33.52\00:41:38.13 and then make effective appeals and then we showed them 00:41:38.16\00:41:44.93 how to practice preaching and that was the fun part 00:41:44.97\00:41:49.07 to see them practice the preaching. 00:41:49.10\00:41:56.38 Then we went to Brazil. Dwight was with us in Brazil. 00:41:56.41\00:42:00.25 Well, we found the team that go to Brazil 00:42:00.28\00:42:02.98 that consisted of Norm and Gail Reitz 00:42:03.02\00:42:06.82 and Darcie -- family from Mission Serve 00:42:06.86\00:42:13.33 and we went there to train 300 lay people 00:42:13.36\00:42:17.23 in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil. 00:42:17.27\00:42:19.80 And Norm and Gail share a little bit 00:42:19.83\00:42:21.70 of what took place there in Brazil. 00:42:21.74\00:42:24.47 In Brazil we had a very young audience. 00:42:24.51\00:42:27.61 This group were mostly between the ages of 20 and 35. 00:42:27.64\00:42:34.55 They are traveled up to 250 kilometers 00:42:34.58\00:42:37.59 to come to the meeting. 00:42:37.62\00:42:39.05 We have to turn 40 of them away. 00:42:39.09\00:42:42.19 They love this thing, they were enthusiastic, 00:42:42.22\00:42:44.96 they were energetic and they proved the principle 00:42:44.99\00:42:49.46 of trained the trainer evangelism. 00:42:49.50\00:42:52.23 There are three principles 00:42:52.27\00:42:53.87 that make this kind of training work. 00:42:53.90\00:42:56.67 The first one is multiplication. 00:42:56.71\00:42:59.44 We can go to a meeting, many of you have done meetings, 00:42:59.47\00:43:01.61 ShareHim is doing meetings all the time 00:43:01.64\00:43:04.41 but if we go and train 100 people 00:43:04.45\00:43:06.75 or 200 people or 300 people 00:43:06.78\00:43:09.18 we multiply the benefit tremendously about 00:43:09.22\00:43:12.99 what one meeting will do. 00:43:13.02\00:43:15.66 The second principle of trained 00:43:15.69\00:43:17.09 the trainer meetings is retention. 00:43:17.13\00:43:20.90 If your neighbor, if your fellow worker, 00:43:20.93\00:43:23.30 if somebody beyond culture or beyond language 00:43:23.33\00:43:26.20 is your mentor, is your teacher 00:43:26.23\00:43:28.34 you are more likely to stay in the church. 00:43:28.37\00:43:31.04 They are there to answer your question. 00:43:31.07\00:43:32.84 They are your friends. 00:43:32.87\00:43:34.48 And thirdly the principles of trained 00:43:34.51\00:43:36.95 the trainer evangelism is cost effectiveness. 00:43:36.98\00:43:41.52 You get the lot bigger yield for your investment 00:43:41.55\00:43:44.45 that you put into it. 00:43:44.49\00:43:46.02 Gail, tell about us some of the people that came. 00:43:46.05\00:43:48.56 Oh, we had young people and we had elderly people 00:43:48.59\00:43:53.09 but mostly we had young people that came 00:43:53.13\00:43:56.06 and they were so enthusiastic, 00:43:56.10\00:43:58.30 they were writing all the time taking notes 00:43:58.33\00:44:01.74 and they were especially happy to receive the brochure 00:44:01.77\00:44:07.74 that would go with the DVD. 00:44:07.78\00:44:09.91 his was the new idea that we got from doing 00:44:09.94\00:44:15.22 the one in Mexico City 00:44:15.25\00:44:16.69 because the ones in the Mexico City 00:44:16.72\00:44:19.82 we are larger ones. 00:44:19.85\00:44:21.56 And then we also gave them the DVD 00:44:21.59\00:44:24.43 and these were in Brazilian Portuguese. 00:44:24.46\00:44:27.93 And they where just so happy with these 00:44:27.96\00:44:30.77 and then their DVD sets. 00:44:30.80\00:44:33.37 As far as we know this was the first time 00:44:33.40\00:44:35.44 that the New Beginnings has been 00:44:35.47\00:44:38.17 given out in Brazilian Portuguese. 00:44:38.21\00:44:40.74 There are about 30 languages that have been done 00:44:40.78\00:44:43.08 and so far, as far as I know, 00:44:43.11\00:44:44.88 they haven't have been used in Chinese. 00:44:44.91\00:44:48.22 They are going to be some meanings in China next year. 00:44:48.25\00:44:51.32 But this was the first time for the Brazilian Portuguese. 00:44:51.35\00:44:55.02 Brazil was wonderful experience and they have been working 00:44:55.06\00:44:58.46 and in September ShareHim 00:44:58.49\00:45:01.30 will be conducting reaping meaning. 00:45:01.33\00:45:03.37 So please pray for the people in Brazil as they were 00:45:03.40\00:45:07.14 and the 40 that we had to turn away 00:45:07.17\00:45:09.77 they will be receiving their own personal training 00:45:09.80\00:45:14.94 from the local evangelist that was with us there. 00:45:14.98\00:45:17.58 So they don't be left out either. 00:45:17.61\00:45:19.28 Thank you so much for sharing 00:45:19.31\00:45:20.72 what has been going in Mexico and Brazil. 00:45:20.75\00:45:23.42 Amen. 00:46:53.61\00:46:55.74 What's he saying? 00:46:55.78\00:46:57.25 Yeah, because you couldn't understand them. 00:46:57.28\00:47:00.12 And so I lean forward to Denzile 00:47:00.15\00:47:01.58 and Denzile saying, you know, asked to turn to the wife. 00:47:01.62\00:47:03.39 What did we do? 00:47:03.42\00:47:04.75 He's still going, what's he talking about? 00:47:04.79\00:47:06.25 And about that time at the corner of my eye 00:47:06.29\00:47:08.19 I saw some movement in aisle so I turned to looked 00:47:08.22\00:47:12.19 an entire family was going forward. 00:47:12.23\00:47:16.40 He had made a call for those to accept Christ 00:47:16.43\00:47:19.07 for the first time. 00:47:19.10\00:47:20.74 My first response was, you know, 00:47:20.77\00:47:22.77 may be step on aisle and say, 00:47:22.80\00:47:24.14 "Hey, hey no, that's just the practice. 00:47:24.17\00:47:28.21 But, you know, God's timing and His word is so true 00:47:28.24\00:47:32.25 He just wants for us to share it. 00:47:32.28\00:47:33.92 And about one and half month later 00:47:33.95\00:47:35.55 we find out that whole family was baptized. 00:47:35.58\00:47:40.46 So you can imagine when we got a report 00:47:40.49\00:47:43.79 just about a week or two later 00:47:43.83\00:47:46.09 that there had already been 137 baptisms 00:47:46.13\00:47:49.33 due to this DVD training in Costa Rica. 00:47:49.36\00:47:52.27 We were thrilled 00:47:52.30\00:47:53.64 and I couldn't wait to get down there 00:47:53.67\00:47:56.00 and work with these evangelists 00:47:56.04\00:47:58.31 in the campaign, ShareHim campaign. 00:47:58.34\00:48:00.78 So upon arrival I met my translator 00:48:00.81\00:48:04.51 and it turns out that she had done 00:48:04.55\00:48:06.45 the DVD series in her own home 00:48:06.48\00:48:09.85 and I believe we have a picture of the translator 00:48:09.88\00:48:14.92 and some of the DVD training. 00:48:14.96\00:48:16.66 And I just wanted to point her out 00:48:16.69\00:48:18.36 and Lisa and her husband Ian. 00:48:18.39\00:48:21.76 Ian actually was an amazing help 00:48:21.80\00:48:24.00 during the campaign. 00:48:24.03\00:48:25.37 He did lot of the music 00:48:25.40\00:48:26.74 and that's him on I guess her left. 00:48:26.77\00:48:28.54 He had done the music and coordinated the PA system 00:48:28.57\00:48:32.27 and I thought what an amazing member of this church. 00:48:32.31\00:48:35.94 It wasn't, I believe it's a second Sabbath 00:48:35.98\00:48:38.58 that you in a ShareHim campaign you preach on stewardship 00:48:38.61\00:48:41.02 and health and it's about tithe 00:48:41.05\00:48:43.79 and you think it's, you know, 00:48:43.82\00:48:45.15 just a good reminder to all the church members. 00:48:45.19\00:48:47.16 Well, after when I went down to greet on the church members 00:48:47.19\00:48:49.32 and here came Ian running down and he said. 00:48:49.36\00:48:51.69 Oh, Joy, thank you, thank you, thank you. 00:48:51.73\00:48:53.66 I need it to hear that sermon. 00:48:53.70\00:48:55.66 Oh, it touched my heart and I said wow, Ian. 00:48:55.70\00:48:59.03 You know, this is the pretty fundamental understanding 00:48:59.07\00:49:01.30 in the Christian church. 00:49:01.34\00:49:02.87 I can't believe that your response. 00:49:02.90\00:49:04.97 He said well, you know, 00:49:05.01\00:49:06.37 I am, actually you might not know this 00:49:06.41\00:49:09.24 but I have been catholic my entire life. 00:49:09.28\00:49:12.11 And I said, oh. 00:49:12.15\00:49:13.48 He said, and I have been struggling 00:49:13.52\00:49:14.85 with alcoholism for several years 00:49:14.88\00:49:16.85 and it's put a strain on past ten years 00:49:16.89\00:49:18.65 of my marriage with Lisa. 00:49:18.69\00:49:20.89 And I said, really. 00:49:20.92\00:49:22.36 And he was like yeah and then, you know, what happen?
