I sing the mighty power of God. 00:01:01.39\00:01:03.26 I love this song. 00:01:03.29\00:01:04.93 We have lived beside the ocean, we have lived in the mountains. 00:01:04.96\00:01:09.83 I'm not sure which I love best. 00:01:09.86\00:01:11.70 But I can't wait to thank our Lord Jesus 00:01:11.73\00:01:14.30 for making it all. 00:01:14.34\00:01:15.67 Let's sing this together 00:01:15.70\00:01:17.04 and we'll stand on the last verse. 00:01:17.07\00:01:18.77 I sing the mighty power of God 00:01:18.81\00:01:22.41 That made the mountains rise 00:01:22.44\00:01:25.55 That spread the flowing seas abroad 00:01:25.58\00:01:28.78 And built the lofty skies 00:01:28.82\00:01:32.45 I sing the wisdom that ordained 00:01:32.49\00:01:35.59 The sun to rule the day 00:01:35.62\00:01:39.16 The moon shines full at His command 00:01:39.19\00:01:43.80 And all the stars obey 00:01:43.83\00:01:48.57 I sing the goodness of the Lord 00:01:48.60\00:01:52.07 That filled the earth with food 00:01:52.11\00:01:55.81 He formed the creatures with His Word 00:01:55.84\00:01:59.31 And then pronounced them good 00:01:59.35\00:02:02.28 Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed 00:02:02.32\00:02:05.99 Where'er I turn my eye 00:02:06.02\00:02:09.49 If I survey the ground I tread, 00:02:09.52\00:02:14.70 or gaze upon the sky 00:02:14.73\00:02:17.97 Let's stand on this last verse 00:02:18.00\00:02:21.57 There's not a plant or flower below 00:02:21.60\00:02:24.57 But makes Thy glories known 00:02:24.61\00:02:28.11 And clouds arise, and tempests blow 00:02:28.14\00:02:31.78 By order from Thy throne 00:02:31.81\00:02:35.38 Creatures that borrows life from Thee 00:02:35.42\00:02:38.99 Are subject to Thy care 00:02:39.02\00:02:42.79 There's not a place where we can flee 00:02:42.82\00:02:48.33 But God is present there 00:02:48.36\00:02:54.37 Thank you. You may be seated. 00:02:54.40\00:02:56.20 Good morning. 00:03:02.54\00:03:04.88 Let us stand for a word of prayer. 00:03:04.91\00:03:06.85 Our Heavenly Father, 00:03:09.88\00:03:11.22 we ask that You'd be with us today 00:03:11.25\00:03:12.85 as we hear the presentations that are gonna be made. 00:03:12.89\00:03:16.36 Open our hearts and minds and receptive to Your will. 00:03:16.39\00:03:19.59 Guide and direct us and bless us. 00:03:19.63\00:03:21.43 For we ask in Thy name, amen. 00:03:21.46\00:03:25.07 I have the privilege of introducing 00:03:25.10\00:03:26.53 two gentlemen this morning. 00:03:26.57\00:03:28.17 The first gentleman that will be speaking to us 00:03:28.20\00:03:30.34 is Homer Trecartin. 00:03:30.37\00:03:32.17 And he is the managing director and the in charge 00:03:32.21\00:03:37.15 of planting for our world church. 00:03:37.18\00:03:39.71 And he has a presentation this morning 00:03:39.75\00:03:41.78 that you will be extremely excited about 00:03:41.82\00:03:44.65 and it will be an inspiration to you. 00:03:44.69\00:03:47.39 And of course, our second speaker 00:03:47.42\00:03:49.19 is Pastor Mark Finley, 00:03:49.22\00:03:50.56 who needs no introduction, who is a friend to ASI. 00:03:50.59\00:03:54.90 As I worked with these gentlemen through the years, 00:03:54.93\00:03:57.10 the thing that has impressed me the most, 00:03:57.13\00:03:59.60 is their love for Jesus 00:03:59.63\00:04:01.94 and they are wanting to do everything they can 00:04:01.97\00:04:04.81 to see the Lord come very soon. 00:04:04.84\00:04:07.34 Thank you. 00:04:07.38\00:04:08.71 In 1926, in 1926, Elder William A. Spicer 00:04:23.09\00:04:28.20 published a book, "The Gospel in All the World." 00:04:28.23\00:04:32.30 Its premise, the signs of a time show 00:04:32.33\00:04:35.14 that Jesus is about to come 00:04:35.17\00:04:37.24 and one of the greatest of these 00:04:37.27\00:04:38.77 is the rapid spread of the gospel to all the world. 00:04:38.81\00:04:42.21 Elder Spicer said there was just a little more to do. 00:04:42.24\00:04:45.41 If all would accept 00:04:45.45\00:04:46.78 the Macedonian call to be involved, 00:04:46.82\00:04:49.05 we could finish the work and Jesus would come. 00:04:49.08\00:04:52.75 But time went on. 00:04:52.79\00:04:54.52 Jesus didn't come and in the late 1980s, 00:04:54.56\00:04:57.79 our church went through 00:04:57.83\00:04:59.16 a period of serious heart searching. 00:04:59.19\00:05:01.33 The work wasn't finished yet. 00:05:01.36\00:05:03.03 Many countries were still unentered. 00:05:03.06\00:05:05.27 Huge parts of the world had no Adventist presence. 00:05:05.30\00:05:08.84 Those discussions eventually resulted 00:05:08.87\00:05:11.11 in the establishment of Global Mission. 00:05:11.14\00:05:13.64 Its purpose, planting churches 00:05:13.68\00:05:16.31 in the unentered parts of the world, 00:05:16.34\00:05:18.38 reaching the unreached with hope. 00:05:18.41\00:05:21.08 And Global Mission hasn't gone away. 00:05:21.12\00:05:23.69 It's now being combined with mission awareness 00:05:23.72\00:05:26.09 and placed under the umbrella of Adventist mission. 00:05:26.12\00:05:29.72 So what's changed in these last 20 years? 00:05:29.76\00:05:33.19 I'm gonna be leading you through a PowerPoint 00:05:33.23\00:05:35.56 with a number of slides 00:05:35.60\00:05:37.10 and I need to ask them if they can put 00:05:37.13\00:05:39.03 that PowerPoint up on my monitor here, 00:05:39.07\00:05:41.10 so I can make sure that I'm giving you 00:05:41.14\00:05:42.70 the same thing that you are seeing on the screen. 00:05:42.74\00:05:45.24 Thank you. 00:05:45.27\00:05:46.78 What's changed in these last 20 years? 00:05:46.81\00:05:50.05 Well, a lot, really. 00:05:50.08\00:05:51.78 New words have been added to our vocabulary. 00:05:51.81\00:05:55.02 Twenty years ago, we had never heard of Google, 00:05:55.05\00:05:57.75 text messaging, email. 00:05:57.79\00:06:00.19 In 20 years, traffic in Moscow is gone from 300,000 cars 00:06:00.22\00:06:04.89 to more than three million cars. 00:06:04.93\00:06:07.76 In just the last 12 years, 00:06:07.80\00:06:09.56 gasoline prices in the Netherlands 00:06:09.60\00:06:11.53 have jumped from $4.32 a gallon 00:06:11.57\00:06:14.84 to $8.36 a gallon. 00:06:14.87\00:06:18.71 Twenty years ago, there were 00:06:18.74\00:06:20.08 no World Wide Web servers online, not one. 00:06:20.11\00:06:23.81 Today, there a more than 100 million servers. 00:06:23.85\00:06:27.62 Twenty years ago, there were zero internet users. 00:06:27.65\00:06:30.82 Today, there are between one and two billion. 00:06:30.85\00:06:33.89 And in these last 20 years, we now have podcast 00:06:33.92\00:06:37.53 and video podcast, chat rooms, Skype, blogs, YouTube, 00:06:37.56\00:06:41.16 Facebook, Myspace. 00:06:41.20\00:06:43.77 Nineteen years ago, the Berlin Wall fell. 00:06:43.80\00:06:47.00 Seventeen years ago, the Soviet Union imploded. 00:06:47.04\00:06:50.31 And we have all changed. 00:06:50.34\00:06:52.74 In the early 80s two young teachers 00:06:52.77\00:06:55.01 worked together in a small school 00:06:55.04\00:06:56.98 in Southern Indiana. 00:06:57.01\00:06:58.78 Today, Ella Simmons is a vice president 00:06:58.81\00:07:01.55 of the General Conference and I worked 00:07:01.58\00:07:03.39 for the General Conference Office 00:07:03.42\00:07:04.85 of Adventist Mission. 00:07:04.89\00:07:06.55 Back then Ella Simmons and I, both had little boys. 00:07:06.59\00:07:09.92 And my baby girl was born in New Albany Indiana 00:07:09.96\00:07:13.66 in March of this year. 00:07:13.70\00:07:15.86 That baby girl had her first child, 00:07:15.90\00:07:18.37 my third grandchild. 00:07:18.40\00:07:20.60 Back then, Ella and I talked often and prayed about 00:07:20.64\00:07:24.61 how near we were to the second coming of Jesus. 00:07:24.64\00:07:27.54 We wanted our children and our students to be ready. 00:07:27.58\00:07:30.75 We longed for that day to come. 00:07:30.78\00:07:33.55 We still do. 00:07:33.58\00:07:35.08 But it's been 20 years, we're still here. 00:07:35.12\00:07:38.75 What now? 00:07:38.79\00:07:40.42 Some who were with us in the 80s aren't anymore. 00:07:40.46\00:07:43.32 But even those of us who are still here 00:07:43.36\00:07:45.29 have changed, at least, a little. 00:07:45.33\00:07:48.26 Maybe some of you recognize this handsome young pastor, 00:07:48.30\00:07:51.27 administrator from Ghana. 00:07:51.30\00:07:53.13 Matthew Bediako is secretary of the General Conference. 00:07:53.17\00:07:56.44 And I can assure you that Elder Bediako 00:07:56.47\00:07:58.57 isn't the only one who is matured 00:07:58.61\00:08:00.68 in the last 20 years. 00:08:00.71\00:08:03.31 How about this well-known speaker, writer? 00:08:03.35\00:08:05.91 Any one recognize Clifford Goldstein? 00:08:05.95\00:08:10.09 And I don't know when this picture was taken, 00:08:10.12\00:08:12.15 but if you don't recognize Herald Lance there, 00:08:12.19\00:08:14.59 then try this one. 00:08:14.62\00:08:17.76 And oh, my. 00:08:17.79\00:08:19.29 Do you know this young family? 00:08:19.33\00:08:21.76 Maybe this picture of Henry and Robin Martin, 00:08:21.80\00:08:23.97 a few years later will help. 00:08:24.00\00:08:27.10 I'm not sure which of the Horton family 00:08:27.14\00:08:28.97 has changed the most. 00:08:29.00\00:08:30.34 I'll leave that to your decision. 00:08:30.37\00:08:33.31 But a certain amount of, shall we say, maturation, 00:08:33.34\00:08:36.64 has definitely affected 00:08:36.68\00:08:38.11 at least two of the people in this picture. 00:08:38.15\00:08:40.92 I still recognize Donna McNeilus 00:08:40.95\00:08:42.92 but the other two, my, what a few years can do. 00:08:42.95\00:08:48.56 And even Elder Paulson has changed a bit. 00:08:48.59\00:08:50.99 But you know, we aren't the only ones 00:08:51.03\00:08:52.49 that have changed, 00:08:52.53\00:08:53.86 the world around us has changed 00:08:53.90\00:08:55.40 dramatically over these last 20 years. 00:08:55.43\00:08:58.67 In 1985, only 41 percent 00:08:58.70\00:09:01.57 of the world's population lived in cities. 00:09:01.60\00:09:04.47 But last year, for the first time 00:09:04.51\00:09:06.14 in the history of this earth, 00:09:06.17\00:09:07.91 more than half the people on the planet lived in cities. 00:09:07.94\00:09:12.21 In 1988, the world had 5.1 billion inhabitants. 00:09:12.25\00:09:16.85 Today, there are more than 6.6 billion. 00:09:16.89\00:09:20.39 Church membership has gone 00:09:20.42\00:09:21.99 from 5.8 million to 15.4 million. 00:09:22.02\00:09:26.33 Twenty years ago, some parts of the world 00:09:26.36\00:09:28.66 seemed almost impenetrable. 00:09:28.70\00:09:31.17 How would we ever reach difficult areas like Cambodia, 00:09:31.20\00:09:34.84 Mongolia and Sudan? 00:09:34.87\00:09:36.87 But we moved ahead and God poured out His Spirit. 00:09:36.91\00:09:39.87 Many made tremendous sacrifices. 00:09:39.91\00:09:42.28 Some even gave their lives. 00:09:42.31\00:09:44.78 And look what God has done in these last 20 years. 00:09:44.81\00:09:49.08 Twenty years ago, Cambodia was still reeling 00:09:49.12\00:09:51.59 from the horrors of the Killing Fields. 00:09:51.62\00:09:53.69 We had no Seventh-day Adventists inside the country. 00:09:53.72\00:09:56.86 Today, we have nearly 6000 members. 00:09:56.89\00:10:00.80 Twenty years ago, we had no members in Mongolia. 00:10:00.83\00:10:03.63 The climate was harsh, 00:10:03.67\00:10:05.00 healthful food was scarce or nonexistent. 00:10:05.03\00:10:07.70 But some AFM missionaries made the sacrifice 00:10:07.74\00:10:10.34 to go learn the language, 00:10:10.37\00:10:11.71 make friends, and share Jesus. 00:10:11.74\00:10:13.98 And today, we have more than a 1000 members in Mongolia. 00:10:14.01\00:10:18.48 Twenty years ago, we had 955 members 00:10:18.51\00:10:21.65 in Africa's largest country. 00:10:21.68\00:10:23.85 Today, we have more than 13,000 members in Sudan. 00:10:23.89\00:10:28.62 Our God specializes 00:10:28.66\00:10:30.26 in accomplishing the impossible. 00:10:30.29\00:10:32.36 Around the world, the church has been growing 00:10:32.39\00:10:34.76 rapidly through these years. 00:10:34.80\00:10:37.50 Look at these ratios. 00:10:37.53\00:10:39.37 In 1863, we had one Seventh-day Adventist 00:10:39.40\00:10:42.67 for every 373,000 people. 00:10:42.70\00:10:46.51 Less than 50 years later, in 1900, we have one-- 00:10:46.54\00:10:51.05 had one Adventist for every 21, 000. 00:10:51.08\00:10:53.68 Another 50 years, and it was one for every 3300. 00:10:53.72\00:10:57.45 By 1988, it was one Adventist for every 882 people 00:10:57.49\00:11:02.09 and 20 years later, today, 00:11:02.12\00:11:04.13 it's projected to be one Adventist 00:11:04.16\00:11:06.19 for every 407 people on earth. 00:11:06.23\00:11:09.10 Praise the Lord. 00:11:09.13\00:11:11.47 So are we almost there yet? 00:11:11.50\00:11:14.10 Remember asking that question as a kid? 00:11:14.14\00:11:17.21 Do you ever ask it today as you sit in the committee 00:11:17.24\00:11:19.71 or a board or wrestle 00:11:19.74\00:11:21.11 with some insurmountable problem? 00:11:21.14\00:11:23.48 Are we almost there yet? 00:11:23.51\00:11:25.78 The United Nations says, 00:11:25.81\00:11:27.22 there are now 14 more countries than there were back then. 00:11:27.25\00:11:30.85 Adventists are working in 19 more. 00:11:30.89\00:11:33.39 That means in 20 years 00:11:33.42\00:11:35.29 we have entered five of the remaining countries 00:11:35.32\00:11:37.79 and political areas. 00:11:37.83\00:11:39.29 We have only 26 left to go. 00:11:39.33\00:11:42.33 At that rate, we should have entered every country 00:11:42.36\00:11:44.60 and political area of the world in the next 104 years. 00:11:44.63\00:11:50.81 What does it mean to enter a country? 00:11:50.84\00:11:54.81 Have we finished the work 00:11:54.84\00:11:56.18 when we have one church worshipping in each country. 00:11:56.21\00:11:59.45 What does it really mean to share the message 00:11:59.48\00:12:01.55 with the multitude or preached the everlasting gospel 00:12:01.58\00:12:04.35 to every nation tribe tongue and people? 00:12:04.39\00:12:07.56 Recent research has shown some deeply troubling trends 00:12:07.59\00:12:11.19 are around the world. 00:12:11.23\00:12:12.59 Did you know that in North America, 00:12:12.63\00:12:14.50 77 percent of the Hindus living here 00:12:14.53\00:12:17.80 don't know a single Christian personally. 00:12:17.83\00:12:21.24 Sixty four percent of the Buddhists 00:12:21.27\00:12:23.34 and 32 percent of the Muslims 00:12:23.37\00:12:25.57 don't know even one Christian they can call a friend. 00:12:25.61\00:12:29.24 They may run our hotels, be doctors in our hospitals, 00:12:29.28\00:12:32.31 wait on us in the restaurants, take our dry cleaning, 00:12:32.35\00:12:35.02 drive us to and from the airport. 00:12:35.05\00:12:37.19 But they don't really know us and we don't know them. 00:12:37.22\00:12:41.26 And we live in a free country. 00:12:41.29\00:12:43.66 The situation in Europe isn't any better. 00:12:43.69\00:12:46.36 The same research shows that most of the Muslims 00:12:46.39\00:12:49.03 and Buddhists living in Europe 00:12:49.06\00:12:50.43 don't know even one Christian personally. 00:12:50.47\00:12:53.84 And whose fault is that? 00:12:53.87\00:12:55.74 Is it their fault for secluding themselves 00:12:55.77\00:12:57.84 in ethnic communities? 00:12:57.87\00:12:59.97 Or is it our fault for not finding a way 00:13:00.01\00:13:02.48 to go to them in a free country? 00:13:02.51\00:13:05.35 Almost half the million-- almost half a million Buddhists 00:13:05.38\00:13:08.42 live in Australia 00:13:08.45\00:13:09.78 and three quarters of them say 00:13:09.82\00:13:11.25 they don't know a single Christian personally. 00:13:11.29\00:13:14.29 This picture is from Kuwait. 00:13:14.32\00:13:16.62 We can't work freely with Muslims in Kuwait. 00:13:16.66\00:13:19.89 But we can in the United Kingdom. 00:13:19.93\00:13:22.03 And there are more Muslims living in the United Kingdom 00:13:22.06\00:13:24.53 than there are in Kuwait. 00:13:24.57\00:13:26.33 What are we doing to reach them? 00:13:26.37\00:13:29.14 And what are we doing to reach the six million Jews, 00:13:29.17\00:13:31.77 and five million Muslims, three million Buddhists, 00:13:31.81\00:13:34.31 and one million Hindus living around us 00:13:34.34\00:13:36.54 in the United States? 00:13:36.58\00:13:38.71 I'm going to be talking more about 00:13:38.75\00:13:40.65 the massive unreached areas of the world. 00:13:40.68\00:13:43.25 We desperately need to focus more attention 00:13:43.28\00:13:45.82 on the 10/40 window. 00:13:45.85\00:13:47.62 But I don't want us to forget that we also have people 00:13:47.66\00:13:50.43 living all around us that we could be reaching. 00:13:50.46\00:13:53.90 And we're doing little if anything for them. 00:13:53.93\00:13:56.97 Who was it that said, 00:13:57.00\00:13:58.63 "If you can't keep up with the footman, 00:13:58.67\00:14:01.04 how will you ever run with the horses?" 00:14:01.07\00:14:03.74 It was God talking to Jeremiah. 00:14:03.77\00:14:06.01 If we can't get to know them here 00:14:06.04\00:14:07.84 and become their friends, 00:14:07.88\00:14:09.28 if we don't have the heart or the stomach 00:14:09.31\00:14:11.31 to go into their communities and reach them here, 00:14:11.35\00:14:14.28 how do we expect to ever be able to take the gospel 00:14:14.32\00:14:17.42 to the countries they came from? 00:14:17.45\00:14:19.95 By the way do you remember 00:14:19.99\00:14:21.32 what the rest of that verse said? 00:14:21.36\00:14:23.16 We often quote the first part. 00:14:23.19\00:14:25.23 "If you have raced with men on foot 00:14:25.26\00:14:27.00 and they have worn you out, 00:14:27.03\00:14:28.53 how can you compete with horses?" 00:14:28.56\00:14:30.30 But we rarely look at the second part. 00:14:30.33\00:14:32.67 It says, "If you stumble in a safe country, 00:14:32.70\00:14:35.50 how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?" 00:14:35.54\00:14:39.34 We desperately need to do more in the difficult areas, 00:14:39.37\00:14:42.34 the thickets of this world. 00:14:42.38\00:14:44.15 But how can we hope to be effective there 00:14:44.18\00:14:46.45 if we're still stumbling around in the safe places? 00:14:46.48\00:14:51.79 If we look at the unreached people of the world, 00:14:51.82\00:14:54.16 that's the population minus the membership, 00:14:54.19\00:14:57.13 in 1988, there were 4.4 billion unreached people in the world. 00:14:57.16\00:15:02.86 Today, there are more than 6.5 billion unreached people. 00:15:02.90\00:15:07.14 That's an increase of 2.1 billion. 00:15:07.17\00:15:10.21 And that doesn't count the 1.3 billion 00:15:10.24\00:15:12.77 that died during the last 20 years. 00:15:12.81\00:15:15.64 But let's break that 2.1 billion down a bit. 00:15:15.68\00:15:18.98 Nigeria has 33 million more unreached people 00:15:19.01\00:15:22.45 than it did 20 years ago when we started Global Mission. 00:15:22.48\00:15:26.05 The Adventist church in Brazil has had tremendous growth. 00:15:26.09\00:15:29.26 But there are 44 million more unreached people now 00:15:29.29\00:15:32.19 than there were in 1988. 00:15:32.23\00:15:35.06 Fifty five million more unreached people 00:15:35.10\00:15:37.30 live in the United States. 00:15:37.33\00:15:39.23 And while house churches multiply in China, 00:15:39.27\00:15:41.60 so does the population. 00:15:41.64\00:15:43.44 There are now 224 million more unreached people 00:15:43.47\00:15:47.01 than there were 20 years ago. 00:15:47.04\00:15:49.31 And in India, even with the explosion of growth, 00:15:49.34\00:15:53.25 even with the work of Global Mission 00:15:53.28\00:15:55.22 and Gospel Outreach and many others, 00:15:55.25\00:15:57.95 the number of unreached people has increased 00:15:57.99\00:16:00.26 by 323 billion people during these last 20 years. 00:16:00.29\00:16:05.33 Think about it. 00:16:05.36\00:16:06.70 The increase in unreached people in India 00:16:06.73\00:16:09.63 is more than the total population 00:16:09.66\00:16:11.73 of the United States, just the increase. 00:16:11.77\00:16:16.60 If we thought we had a lot of work to do 20 years ago, 00:16:16.64\00:16:19.41 look at the picture now. 00:16:19.44\00:16:21.38 There are 2.1 billion more people 00:16:21.41\00:16:23.68 to reach than there were in 1988, 00:16:23.71\00:16:25.91 when we were starting Global Mission. 00:16:25.95\00:16:28.78 Twenty years ago, when plans were being laid 00:16:28.82\00:16:30.95 for Global Mission, 00:16:30.99\00:16:32.32 one of the key targets was to plant a church 00:16:32.35\00:16:34.86 in every population group of one million people. 00:16:34.89\00:16:38.16 So how are we doing? 00:16:38.19\00:16:39.83 Well, back in 1988, 00:16:39.86\00:16:41.23 we didn't count companies, just churches. 00:16:41.26\00:16:44.23 Now we count both churches and companies 00:16:44.27\00:16:46.53 and we have about equal numbers of each 00:16:46.57\00:16:48.90 for a total of a 123,000. 00:16:48.94\00:16:51.87 That makes our average, 00:16:51.91\00:16:53.27 one church for every 53,000 people in the world. 00:16:53.31\00:16:57.01 Or 8.1 churches for every million people. 00:16:57.05\00:17:01.38 Obviously, even back in 1988, 00:17:01.42\00:17:04.42 we had already reached our goal, 00:17:04.45\00:17:06.22 if we just looked at the world averages. 00:17:06.25\00:17:09.22 We had way more than one church for every million people. 00:17:09.26\00:17:12.59 But we knew then and we know now 00:17:12.63\00:17:14.96 that we have to look deeper than world averages 00:17:15.00\00:17:17.37 to really see how we're doing as a church. 00:17:17.40\00:17:20.44 Looking at the division levels, 00:17:20.47\00:17:25.77 looking at the division levels, we began to see 00:17:25.81\00:17:28.24 that not all areas 00:17:28.28\00:17:29.61 have 8.1 churches for million people. 00:17:29.64\00:17:32.85 But if we just look at the division totals, 00:17:32.88\00:17:35.15 we are still over that original goal 00:17:35.18\00:17:37.12 of one church for every million people. 00:17:37.15\00:17:39.65 So have we finished the work? 00:17:39.69\00:17:42.39 On the next slides, 00:17:42.42\00:17:43.76 we'll look at a few of the divisions. 00:17:43.79\00:17:45.16 In order not to keep you here all day, 00:17:45.19\00:17:47.20 we're just going to look at 00:17:47.23\00:17:48.56 countries with more than a million people. 00:17:48.60\00:17:50.77 But even then they're too many. 00:17:50.80\00:17:52.13 So we're just going to look at the countries 00:17:52.17\00:17:53.84 with the most and the least churches 00:17:53.87\00:17:56.20 for every million people. 00:17:56.24\00:17:58.04 Remember that the world average is eight Adventist churches 00:17:58.07\00:18:01.94 and companies for each million people. 00:18:01.98\00:18:04.75 Papua New Guinea has a little bit higher ratio than that. 00:18:04.78\00:18:08.42 Five hundred fifty churches and companies 00:18:08.45\00:18:11.22 for every million people in Papua New Guinea. 00:18:11.25\00:18:14.06 Australia is still above the world average, 00:18:14.09\00:18:16.52 but has only 23.8 churches and companies for each million. 00:18:16.56\00:18:21.13 In the Southern Africa Indian Ocean division, 00:18:21.16\00:18:24.00 every country of more than a million people 00:18:24.03\00:18:26.94 is way above the world average. 00:18:26.97\00:18:29.30 Zambia is close to matching Papua New Guinea. 00:18:29.34\00:18:32.21 But even Madagascar has almost nine times the world average. 00:18:32.24\00:18:37.21 East Central Africa is quite a mix. 00:18:37.25\00:18:39.78 Rwanda and Kenya have hundreds of churches and companies 00:18:39.81\00:18:43.18 for each million people. 00:18:43.22\00:18:44.95 Tanzania and Uganda have more than ten times 00:18:44.99\00:18:47.62 the world average. 00:18:47.66\00:18:49.12 But Eritrea has only three. 00:18:49.16\00:18:51.16 And Somalia has zero. 00:18:51.19\00:18:54.00 In the Southern Asia division, none of the countries 00:18:54.03\00:18:57.03 come up to the world average. 00:18:57.07\00:18:58.80 India is almost there. 00:18:58.83\00:19:00.77 But Nepal has barely one church or company 00:19:00.80\00:19:03.41 for every million people and Bhutan isn't listed 00:19:03.44\00:19:06.34 because it has a population of less than a million. 00:19:06.37\00:19:09.61 But we all know that if it was here, 00:19:09.64\00:19:11.31 it would show a big red zero. 00:19:11.35\00:19:14.32 Here's another mixed bag. 00:19:14.35\00:19:15.68 The West Central Africa division. 00:19:15.72\00:19:17.45 Average is 21.3 churches and companies 00:19:17.49\00:19:20.49 for each million people. 00:19:20.52\00:19:22.16 But Senegal, Nigeria and Mauritania 00:19:22.19\00:19:24.23 don't have even one church or company per million. 00:19:24.26\00:19:28.33 The Europe Asia division ranges from Moldova with 59, 00:19:28.36\00:19:33.00 let's see, we've skipped one here. 00:19:33.03\00:19:35.80 The Southern Asia Pacific division has Philippines 00:19:35.84\00:19:38.64 with nine times the world average 00:19:38.67\00:19:40.81 and eight countries with less than five per million. 00:19:40.84\00:19:44.48 Two of those don't even have one church or company 00:19:44.51\00:19:47.12 per million people. 00:19:47.15\00:19:49.25 The Euro Africa division has seven countries 00:19:49.28\00:19:53.12 of at least a million who don't have even 00:19:53.15\00:19:55.19 one church or company per million people. 00:19:55.22\00:19:58.66 These are the Trans European divisions, 00:19:58.69\00:20:00.73 most entered countries. 00:20:00.76\00:20:03.57 But look at the rest of their list. 00:20:03.60\00:20:05.73 Eight countries with more than a million people 00:20:05.77\00:20:08.40 and not even one Adventist church 00:20:08.44\00:20:10.07 or company per million. 00:20:10.11\00:20:12.27 And around the world, most of the churches 00:20:12.31\00:20:14.48 and companies are in rural areas. 00:20:14.51\00:20:16.64 If we go to the cities, the figures are even worse. 00:20:16.68\00:20:19.75 For instance, while the world average 00:20:19.78\00:20:21.75 is one Adventist for every 407 people, 00:20:21.78\00:20:24.95 India's ratio is one for every 903 people. 00:20:24.99\00:20:30.26 But among Calcutta's 13 million, 00:20:30.29\00:20:32.59 the ratio is one for every 23, 000 people. 00:20:32.63\00:20:37.30 But even in the cities, 00:20:37.33\00:20:38.67 where the need is so incredibly huge, 00:20:38.70\00:20:40.87 if you analyze carefully the members we do have, 00:20:40.90\00:20:44.07 you would see that they come almost entirely 00:20:44.11\00:20:46.37 from one or another ethnic group, 00:20:46.41\00:20:48.28 economic strata or region of the city, 00:20:48.31\00:20:50.88 and often missed completely the rest of the city. 00:20:50.91\00:20:54.55 Anthropologists and missiologists 00:20:54.58\00:20:56.45 have calculated that there are 13 more than 13, 000 00:20:56.48\00:21:00.22 distinct people groups around the world. 00:21:00.26\00:21:03.12 Some of them are tiny. 00:21:03.16\00:21:04.53 But if we look at the groups of at least a 100, 000, 00:21:04.56\00:21:07.76 there are 394 that don't have a single known 00:21:07.80\00:21:11.37 Christian among them. 00:21:11.40\00:21:12.97 And if we look at the really big groups, 00:21:13.00\00:21:14.90 those with at least a 100, 000 people, 00:21:14.94\00:21:17.17 there are a 118 with not one Christian. 00:21:17.21\00:21:21.31 That's Christians of any denomination. 00:21:21.34\00:21:23.71 Think of what it would be 00:21:23.75\00:21:25.08 if we were looking at the figures 00:21:25.11\00:21:26.45 for the Seventh day Adventist Church. 00:21:26.48\00:21:29.02 And then there are the language groups. 00:21:29.05\00:21:31.12 Around the world there are more than 13,000 00:21:31.15\00:21:33.76 spoken languages. 00:21:33.79\00:21:35.52 Adventist World Radio is broadcasting in 70 of those. 00:21:35.56\00:21:39.39 That's half a percent. 00:21:39.43\00:21:41.96 Adventists have other forms of work 00:21:42.00\00:21:44.30 in 805 more languages, that's a whopping six percent. 00:21:44.33\00:21:49.44 But there is no administers work of any sort 00:21:49.47\00:21:52.61 in 12,665 languages of the world. 00:21:52.64\00:21:57.01 For 94 percent of the world's languages, 00:21:57.05\00:21:59.81 we have to hope 00:21:59.85\00:22:01.18 that those who have them as their mother tongue 00:22:01.22\00:22:03.12 also speak another language. 00:22:03.15\00:22:05.29 If they don't, we are not reaching them. 00:22:05.32\00:22:09.06 But that's the spoken languages. 00:22:09.09\00:22:10.93 Well, how are we doing 00:22:10.96\00:22:12.29 with the written languages of the world? 00:22:12.33\00:22:14.00 There are 8500 written languages. 00:22:14.03\00:22:16.97 But some of them are quite small 00:22:17.00\00:22:18.53 so let's just look at the bigger ones. 00:22:18.57\00:22:20.64 Let's look at those that have at least 00:22:20.67\00:22:22.47 10, 000 people speaking them. 00:22:22.50\00:22:26.01 There 2937 of those larger written languages. 00:22:26.04\00:22:31.08 And only 13 percent of them have the entire Bible. 00:22:31.11\00:22:35.38 Another 23 percent have the New Testament. 00:22:35.42\00:22:38.72 Another 14 percent 00:22:38.75\00:22:40.49 have at least a portion of the Bible, 00:22:40.52\00:22:42.36 a chapter, or a book. 00:22:42.39\00:22:44.13 But 50 percent of the largest spoken 00:22:44.16\00:22:46.73 and written languages on-- in the world 00:22:46.76\00:22:49.26 don't even have a scrap of the scripture. 00:22:49.30\00:22:52.53 If Adventists are people of the book, 00:22:52.57\00:22:54.77 what are we doing about these groups? 00:22:54.80\00:22:57.57 Remember we aren't talking about illiterate people here. 00:22:57.61\00:23:00.84 We're talking about people who read and write 00:23:00.88\00:23:03.04 but have no piece of the Bible in their mother tongue. 00:23:03.08\00:23:06.48 For that 50 percent 00:23:06.51\00:23:08.02 of the largest written languages of the world, 00:23:08.05\00:23:10.42 we have to hope that they can read another language 00:23:10.45\00:23:13.59 or we aren't sharing God's word with them. 00:23:13.62\00:23:17.73 Back in 1600, a massive mission movement 00:23:17.76\00:23:21.16 was sweeping through the Catholic Church. 00:23:21.20\00:23:23.40 The Jesuits recruited, trained and sent out 00:23:23.43\00:23:26.13 8500 full time foreign missionaries. 00:23:26.17\00:23:30.51 What was the world population in 1600? 00:23:30.54\00:23:33.98 It was 545 million. 00:23:34.01\00:23:36.34 About half of what just India has today. 00:23:36.38\00:23:40.18 No matter what we think of their theology 00:23:40.22\00:23:42.28 or missiological practices, those Jesuit missionaries 00:23:42.32\00:23:45.85 were undertaking a mammoth role. 00:23:45.89\00:23:49.79 If we were to duplicate their ratio today, 00:23:49.82\00:23:52.49 we would need to 20, 000 Adventist missionaries 00:23:52.53\00:23:56.00 to China, 17, 000 to India, 00:23:56.03\00:23:59.03 4000 to the Trans Mediterranean territories, 00:23:59.07\00:24:01.90 3600 to the Middle East Union. 00:24:01.94\00:24:05.37 How many missionaries would we need around the world 00:24:05.41\00:24:07.88 to match that ratio? 00:24:07.91\00:24:10.45 Well, we obviously don't have 00:24:10.48\00:24:12.15 a 102 million missionaries to send. 00:24:12.18\00:24:15.48 We don't even have close to that many members, 00:24:15.52\00:24:17.95 even if we count kids and visitors. 00:24:17.99\00:24:21.29 But let's look at what we do have. 00:24:21.32\00:24:23.49 We have 919 IDEs. 00:24:23.53\00:24:26.93 If you count spouses, 00:24:26.96\00:24:28.33 those are the full time missionaries that are funded 00:24:28.36\00:24:31.13 and sent out by the General Conference. 00:24:31.17\00:24:33.60 We have 2293 Global Mission pioneers, 00:24:33.64\00:24:37.67 544 long-term volunteers and student missionaries. 00:24:37.71\00:24:41.78 A 100 His Hands volunteers, 200 trained tent makers, 00:24:41.81\00:24:46.11 2500 Gospel Outreach evangelists, 00:24:46.15\00:24:49.28 64 Adventist Frontier Missions' missionaries, 00:24:49.32\00:24:52.52 23 AFM student missionaries. 00:24:52.55\00:24:55.32 Even if you count, even if you add in some others 00:24:55.36\00:24:58.33 that I don't have figures for, we still don't come up 00:24:58.36\00:25:01.03 to the raw numbers the Jesuits had back in 1600, 00:25:01.06\00:25:04.83 let alone their ratio. 00:25:04.87\00:25:07.00 Why is that, with a remnant in time message. 00:25:07.04\00:25:10.34 why is it that we have so few missionaries today, 00:25:10.37\00:25:13.48 when the needs are so great? 00:25:13.51\00:25:16.95 Well, back in 1930, for every ten dollars 00:25:16.98\00:25:20.42 that someone put into tithe in the Adventist church, 00:25:20.45\00:25:23.62 they put another six dollars 00:25:23.65\00:25:25.69 into the World Mission offering. 00:25:25.72\00:25:28.06 By 2005, that had decreased to the point 00:25:28.09\00:25:30.99 where for every ten dollars someone put into tithe, 00:25:31.03\00:25:33.86 they put 35 cents into the World Mission offering. 00:25:33.90\00:25:38.27 I praise God that there's been a slight change 00:25:38.30\00:25:40.64 in the last two years. 00:25:40.67\00:25:42.24 For the first time in decades, 00:25:42.27\00:25:43.97 the mission offering has begun to increase 00:25:44.01\00:25:46.21 a little more than tithe. 00:25:46.24\00:25:47.84 I long for the day when we can have a 1000, 00:25:47.88\00:25:50.95 not just a 1000 missionaries but 5000 or 50, 000. 00:25:50.98\00:25:55.78 And remember, the mission offering 00:25:55.82\00:25:57.52 doesn't just send missionaries. 00:25:57.55\00:25:59.89 It also provides appropriations to divisions 00:25:59.92\00:26:02.62 so that they can hire teachers and pastors 00:26:02.66\00:26:05.26 to watch over the churches 00:26:05.29\00:26:06.66 that you raise up in your projects. 00:26:06.70\00:26:09.23 It provides funding to help print materials 00:26:09.26\00:26:11.57 and prepare broadcasts and fund local portions 00:26:11.60\00:26:14.50 of Global Mission and Gospel Outreach projects. 00:26:14.54\00:26:18.37 If the mission offering dries up, 00:26:18.41\00:26:20.58 there will be little that we can do 00:26:20.61\00:26:22.54 in the way of projects. 00:26:22.58\00:26:24.28 What good would it be to build a church, 00:26:24.31\00:26:26.85 if the mission can't afford to help nurture the members 00:26:26.88\00:26:29.72 who come into that church? 00:26:29.75\00:26:32.35 To illustrate the challenge we face, 00:26:32.39\00:26:34.52 let's pretend that we're standing 00:26:34.56\00:26:35.96 on a busy street corner, 00:26:35.99\00:26:37.33 watching people pass at 60 per minute. 00:26:37.36\00:26:40.16 If we could wear a special pair of glasses, 00:26:40.20\00:26:42.73 so that the Adventists feet would stand out, 00:26:42.76\00:26:45.43 how often would we see a Seventh-day Adventist 00:26:45.47\00:26:48.10 walking past us on that busy street corner? 00:26:48.14\00:26:52.84 We're going to show you a short video 00:26:52.87\00:26:54.84 that gives you some figures for the Adventist walking past 00:26:54.88\00:26:59.28 around the world. 00:26:59.31\00:27:01.48 If we had the entire population of the world 00:27:07.69\00:27:10.23 rushing past us, 00:27:10.26\00:27:12.69 including all the Seventh-day Adventists, 00:27:12.73\00:27:15.76 we would see one Seventh-day Adventist 00:27:15.80\00:27:17.60 walk past every 7.2 minutes around the world. 00:27:17.63\00:27:21.04 In Jamaica, at 60 a minute, 00:27:24.51\00:27:27.08 we would see an Adventist every 12 seconds. 00:27:27.11\00:27:31.91 In Kenya, an Adventist would be walking by 00:27:31.95\00:27:35.28 in just under a minute. 00:27:35.32\00:27:36.89 In Central and South America, there would be less than 00:27:39.75\00:27:43.59 two minutes between each Seventh-day Adventist. 00:27:43.63\00:27:47.70 On the continent of Africa, 00:27:47.73\00:27:49.53 we would see an Adventist walk by every three minutes. 00:27:49.56\00:27:54.67 Here in North America, at 60 a minute, 00:27:54.70\00:27:57.41 we would see an Adventist walk by every five minutes. 00:27:57.44\00:28:02.58 In India, it would be fifteen minutes 00:28:02.61\00:28:05.51 between each Seventh-day Adventist. 00:28:05.55\00:28:09.95 And in China, not knowing how many Adventists 00:28:09.98\00:28:13.15 are going to the Olympics, 00:28:13.19\00:28:14.62 there would one Adventist walking by every hour. 00:28:14.66\00:28:19.09 In Israel, one Adventist 00:28:19.13\00:28:22.76 every two and a half hours walking past. 00:28:22.80\00:28:26.47 Twenty four hours a day, 60 people a minute 00:28:26.50\00:28:28.90 in Central Asia, one every two and a half hours. 00:28:28.94\00:28:32.27 And if you were to go to Egypt, 00:28:32.31\00:28:33.68 and we had the people of Egypt walk past 60 a minute, 00:28:33.71\00:28:36.95 24 hours a day, 00:28:36.98\00:28:38.58 it would be a little over one day 00:28:38.61\00:28:40.18 between each Adventists. 00:28:40.22\00:28:41.92 In Turkey, it would be 12.9 days 00:28:41.95\00:28:45.75 between every Adventist. 00:28:45.79\00:28:48.79 In Morocco, one Adventist would walk by every 28 days. 00:28:48.82\00:28:55.20 In Iran, we have a few Adventists, 00:28:55.23\00:28:57.83 one would walk by every 38.8 days. 00:28:57.87\00:29:02.80 In Somalia, it would be 00:29:02.84\00:29:04.77 one Adventist every 102 days. 00:29:04.81\00:29:10.35 In Afghanistan, one Adventist would walk by 00:29:10.38\00:29:13.35 every 119 days. 00:29:13.38\00:29:17.62 In Syria, we used to have a strong work. 00:29:17.65\00:29:19.92 We have nothing now. 00:29:19.95\00:29:21.29 One Adventist would walk by every 225 days in Syria. 00:29:21.32\00:29:25.99 In Yemen, it would be one Adventist 00:29:26.03\00:29:28.13 every two 250 days. 00:29:28.16\00:29:31.27 And in Saudi Arabia, 60 people a minute, 00:29:31.30\00:29:34.10 24 hours a day one Adventist would walk by every 279 days. 00:29:34.14\00:29:39.67 As I watched her singing hymns in the little Adventist church, 00:29:42.11\00:29:45.41 in one of the stance of Central Asia last summer, 00:29:45.45\00:29:48.65 I had no idea that four years ago, 00:29:48.68\00:29:51.15 Igul was not a Christian. 00:29:51.19\00:29:53.49 After the services that morning, 00:29:53.52\00:29:55.16 she poured out her story to us and what a story it was. 00:29:55.19\00:29:58.86 Ten or twelve years ago, she had a baby boy 00:29:58.89\00:30:01.96 but somehow he received a brain injury during delivery. 00:30:02.00\00:30:05.50 Her husband and family told her to put the baby 00:30:05.53\00:30:07.67 in an institution and forget about him. 00:30:07.70\00:30:09.54 But her mother's heart wouldn't let her do that. 00:30:09.57\00:30:11.94 So her husband left her. 00:30:11.97\00:30:13.94 She moved back to her parents' home 00:30:13.98\00:30:15.58 but her stepmother didn't want the baby around 00:30:15.61\00:30:17.65 and made life terribly difficult for them. 00:30:17.68\00:30:20.85 Finally, unable to bear it any longer, 00:30:20.88\00:30:22.65 Igul and her sister moved to another city. 00:30:22.68\00:30:25.52 She worked days while her sister took care of the baby. 00:30:25.55\00:30:28.66 Several years went by during which a Christian, 00:30:28.69\00:30:31.43 a Catholic lady, co-worker begin to reach out to her. 00:30:31.46\00:30:34.96 This Catholic lady kept encouraging Igul 00:30:35.00\00:30:37.40 to go to the church. 00:30:37.43\00:30:39.03 But Igul had never been in a Christian church before. 00:30:39.07\00:30:42.17 And even though she had already been 00:30:42.20\00:30:43.54 thrown out of her family, 00:30:43.57\00:30:44.91 she just couldn't bear to leave the religion of her heritage. 00:30:44.94\00:30:49.54 Finally, one day in desperation 00:30:49.58\00:30:51.45 Igul decided to go visit the Catholic Church. 00:30:51.48\00:30:54.25 But on the way there, she gotten lost 00:30:54.28\00:30:56.52 in the maze of little alleyways 00:30:56.55\00:30:58.29 that you find in Central Asian cities. 00:30:58.32\00:31:01.09 Just then, she passed a group of people 00:31:01.12\00:31:03.26 standing by a gate. 00:31:03.29\00:31:05.03 She stopped and asked them. 00:31:05.06\00:31:06.43 "Can you tell me where the church is?" 00:31:06.46\00:31:08.96 At that point in her life, she didn't realize 00:31:09.00\00:31:11.80 there was more than one kind of Christian Church. 00:31:11.83\00:31:15.20 The group looked questioningly at each other for a moment. 00:31:15.24\00:31:17.94 Was this a trap? 00:31:17.97\00:31:19.31 Was this woman a spy? 00:31:19.34\00:31:21.04 But finally, they said, "Well, this is a house church. 00:31:21.08\00:31:24.78 And we're getting ready to go in. 00:31:24.81\00:31:26.25 Would you like to join us?" 00:31:26.28\00:31:28.85 Igul did join them. 00:31:28.88\00:31:30.49 And she's never gone to the church 00:31:30.52\00:31:31.95 that she was looking for. 00:31:31.99\00:31:33.82 Four years ago, she was baptized. 00:31:33.86\00:31:35.89 Now her sister is studying and they alternate Sabbaths. 00:31:35.92\00:31:38.89 One stays with the little boy at home 00:31:38.93\00:31:40.86 while the other comes to our little church. 00:31:40.90\00:31:43.13 I praise God for His timing. 00:31:43.16\00:31:45.60 Ten minutes, either way, and she would not have seen 00:31:45.63\00:31:48.27 the group standing by the gate. 00:31:48.30\00:31:50.71 I also thank the Lord for the dedication 00:31:50.74\00:31:52.84 of a German missionary who went to Kyrgyzstan 00:31:52.87\00:31:55.71 50 years ago and planted a church. 00:31:55.74\00:31:58.75 Soon that struggling little girl 00:31:58.78\00:32:00.42 began to send missionaries to other parts of Central Asia. 00:32:00.45\00:32:04.29 I'm so glad they had planted a small light in Igul's city, 00:32:04.32\00:32:08.86 one that she could join when she was ready. 00:32:08.89\00:32:11.79 But you know what haunts me? 00:32:11.83\00:32:14.00 It's all the other Igul's 00:32:14.03\00:32:15.73 who have no Adventist feet walking through their streets 00:32:15.76\00:32:18.70 and market places. 00:32:18.73\00:32:20.54 Who will they turn to when the Spirit begins 00:32:20.57\00:32:23.20 to work on their hearts? 00:32:23.24\00:32:25.37 I don't want to leave us in a state of despair. 00:32:25.41\00:32:27.81 I believe it's time for Jesus to return. 00:32:27.84\00:32:30.61 The signs all foretell that. 00:32:30.65\00:32:32.75 But if all we do is pat ourselves on the back 00:32:32.78\00:32:35.15 for how much we have accomplished, 00:32:35.18\00:32:37.29 we show that we are indeed Laodicean, 00:32:37.32\00:32:40.06 asleep and in need of nothing. 00:32:40.09\00:32:43.26 God has given us a task. 00:32:43.29\00:32:45.29 It may seem impossible, but it isn't. 00:32:45.33\00:32:47.76 The Jordon River looked impossible to the Israelites 00:32:47.80\00:32:50.77 but it wasn't. 00:32:50.80\00:32:52.13 As they believed God's promise and obeyed His command, 00:32:52.17\00:32:54.90 as they stepped into the water, 00:32:54.94\00:32:56.64 God opened it up and they crossed over. 00:32:56.67\00:33:00.11 And today, I want to challenge all of us, 00:33:00.14\00:33:02.01 me included, to wade into the Jordan River, 00:33:02.04\00:33:04.81 to really get serious about finishing the work 00:33:04.85\00:33:07.58 and doing anything necessary to send people, 00:33:07.62\00:33:10.85 to be lights in every city and suburb, 00:33:10.89\00:33:12.95 village and town on earth. 00:33:12.99\00:33:15.02 We can't just keep going toward the places 00:33:15.06\00:33:17.36 where it's easy. 00:33:17.39\00:33:18.73 We are a world wide church with a responsibility 00:33:18.76\00:33:21.43 for every human being on earth. 00:33:21.46\00:33:24.10 We have a responsibility to take them the message. 00:33:24.13\00:33:27.70 As you plan projects and trips, 00:33:27.74\00:33:30.07 as you raise money for the work in various parts of the world, 00:33:30.11\00:33:33.34 don't forget the dark places. 00:33:33.38\00:33:36.44 Igul now has a blessed hope and peace. 00:33:36.48\00:33:39.11 She has a new light in her dark life. 00:33:39.15\00:33:41.72 But millions like her still can't see that light. 00:33:41.75\00:33:45.69 When will we light their world? 00:33:45.72\00:33:47.52 There is a candle in every soul 00:34:13.48\00:34:20.16 Some brightly burning 00:34:20.19\00:34:23.53 Some dark and cold 00:34:23.56\00:34:27.00 There is a Spirit who brings fire 00:34:27.03\00:34:33.64 Ignites a candle and makes His home 00:34:33.67\00:34:40.44 Carry your candle 00:34:40.48\00:34:43.91 Run to the 00:38:36.24\00:38:39.35 of the vast world's populations, 00:38:39.38\00:38:43.22 it's clear to me 00:38:43.25\00:38:45.52 that unless the Holy Spirit 00:38:45.55\00:38:47.49 works powerfully and dramatically, 00:38:47.52\00:38:51.93 God's work on earth 00:38:51.96\00:38:54.03 will not be finished any time soon. 00:38:54.06\00:38:57.00 Technology is not going to finish God's work. 00:38:57.03\00:39:01.30 Television is not going to finish God's work. 00:39:01.34\00:39:05.51 Radio is not going to finish God's work. 00:39:05.54\00:39:09.14 All of the technological genius 00:39:09.18\00:39:11.51 of the brightest minds of the church 00:39:11.55\00:39:13.85 will not finish God's work. 00:39:13.88\00:39:16.18 God will reveal that He alone 00:39:16.22\00:39:20.86 through the outpouring of His Holy Spirit 00:39:20.89\00:39:23.93 will finish His work. 00:39:23.96\00:39:25.69 I long for meetings 00:39:25.73\00:39:28.26 when the Holy Spirit is poured out in abundance. 00:39:28.30\00:39:31.87 I long for the sameness and the routine 00:39:31.90\00:39:34.80 of the church to be broken up. 00:39:34.84\00:39:37.24 And that the power of the living God 00:39:37.27\00:39:39.57 be poured out upon His people 00:39:39.61\00:39:41.84 because it is Spirit-filled people 00:39:41.88\00:39:45.11 that'll finish God's work on earth. 00:39:45.15\00:39:47.18
