Noah, Sham, Ham, Japheth,

they separated and
went different ways

the Lord and some didn't.

became known as Canaan.

known as Canaanites.

These people were idolaters.

They were not
worshippers of the Lord,

they went contrary to the Lord.

And since, there wasn't

what God needed to
take salvation to mankind.

God said, "Okay.

We'll take and form a nation.

And out of that nation

we will take the
gospel to the world."

And so God called the
man by the name of Abraham.

And he said,
"Out of you, Abraham.

I will make a great nation.

And these people will
be followers of mine."

And they will take
the gospel to the world.

Called Abraham, and told him

He said "Now if we're
going to make a great nation,

place where the nation exists.

Now, folks when God said,

God was asking Abraham
to move into a very violent,

a very place where
people didn't follow the Lord.

In fact, it went against
everything that God taught.

The Canaanites were idolaters.
00:12:31.88\00:12:33.98
They were not only that,
00:12:34.02\00:12:35.45
they even
offered human sacrifices.
00:12:35.48\00:12:38.49
Their immorality
was absolutely horrible.
00:12:38.52\00:12:42.12
Everything that went
against Christian principles
00:12:42.16\00:12:46.09
in the following of
the Lord existed in Canaan.
00:12:46.13\00:12:50.37
And God said, "Abraham
00:12:50.40\00:12:51.73
I want you to go over
into the land of Canaan.

And this will be your land."

Why would God do that?

him in such a situation?

So it says clearly

Well, He said one thing I
know about Abraham is that

he will raise

"That I know about Abraham

that he's going to
raise his household right."

Abraham did something

that made a
great, great difference.

And what I'm trying to
get across to you today,

it'll make a great,
great difference in your life

take just a moment to follow

the path of Abraham a

happened here with Abraham,

'cause he's coming
into the land of Canaan.

That's what he's doing.

And the first
place that he enters

in the land of Canaan, is
to a place called, Shechem.

That's the first
place that he came there.

And the Canaanites
were then in the land."

These were
idolatrous people. Okay.

"Then Lord
appeared to Abram and said,

"To your descendants
I will give this land."

And there he built
an altar to the Lord,

who had appeared to him."

Now, it says that
he moved into Shechem

and the first
thing that Abraham did

is he built an altar.

Now folks, the altar was
where they brought sacrifices.

But that was not just
the purpose of the altar.

That is also where they had

morning and evening worship.

Their whole household
came together every day,

morning and evening
and had worship there.

That's why, it says
that he build an author

and if you read
through the Scripture,

you can see his travels
and every place he went,

he build an altar.

Look at the next verse here.

but that's where they met
as a family and worship God.

Now what it says
that his household.

Abraham would
raise his household.

You mustn't believe that
that was just a couple people

'cause, Abraham's
household was large.

In fact, his household

would number over one thousand.

So when he's traveling,

he's taking a bunch of
people with him, folks.

about their wives

a thousand people

are going to make it
