The Book of Isaiah 24
is a vivid description

coming of Jesus Christ

If you read the
whole chapter you'll notice

that this will be a
cataclysmic destructive event

that will
practically demolish the world.

I would like us to
turn to verses 5 and 6

which will be the focus
of our study in Isaiah 24.

What I want us to
remember as we read these verses

is that Isaiah 24 is describing

the second
coming of Jesus Christ

Let's read verse 5.

"The earth
mourns and fades away,

languishes and fades away,

of the earth languish.

The earth also is
defiled under its inhabitants."

So you notice
here that we're told

that the earth is
defiled under her inhabitants.

The word defiled here

means basically to
be defiled morally,

it means to soil, to
corrupt, to defile, to pollute.

In other words, the inhabitants
of the earth are polluted

when Jesus comes.

Now I want you to
notice that in this same verse,

three reasons are given

for the defilement of the earth.

Once again notice verse 5,

"The earth
mourns and fades away,

languishes and fades away,

the haughty people
of the earth languish."

The earth is also defiled

under its inhabitants because...

Now three reasons
are going to be given

for the defilement of the earth.

Number one: They have
transgressed the laws.

changed the ordinance.

Number three: They have
broken the everlasting covenant.

And then verse 6 tells
us what the consequences

are for these threefold apostasy

that is mentioned in verse 5.

Notice verse 6, "Therefore,

that's an important word

because they have
transgressed the laws

because they have
changed the ordinance,

because they have broken
the everlasting covenant.

The curse has devoured the earth

and those who dwell in it

are desolate therefore
the inhabitants of the earth

In other words, the
cause of the destruction

description of the iniquity

Now what I want
us to do is examine

each one of these reasons,

first of all
transgress the laws,

secondly change the ordinance

and in the third place
broken the everlasting covenant.

Let's examine each
one of these one by one

so that we can determine
what it was that will lead

to the destruction of
the world at the end of time.

Let's discuss first of
all transgress the laws.

The word laws
here is the word Torah,

which is very, very
prevalent and common

in the Old Testament.

But I want you to notice

one particular
use of the word Torah,

Here it's speaking about

revealed at Mount Sinai,

and I want you to notice
