And so people ask me a lot,

we've seen lots of miracles.

Now known to the world

they may seem like coincidences,

they may seem like accidents,
they may seem like flukes,

but to Christians,

we understand that a miracle

and people ask
me, what is a miracle?

And I say, a miracle is when
man can't and God can, right?

A miracle-- a miracle has--

there is a reason for miracle,

and that's when God
supplies the impossible.

off with a little story,

I always have to say,

nor a son of a preacher,

and-- but I do
love to share about God

and His goodness and His love,

and I want people to
know if you've done already

and many of you are sitting here

as we share
miracles night after night,

you are sharing
your own miracles

and recounting the
miracles of how God saved you.

And so tonight it's a privilege

as I count back, I
want to talk about--

we can talk about
miracles of finances,

we can talk
about $100,000 miracle

or even an $800,000 miracle

or even several
million dollars miracles,

but that's not really a miracle

isn't limited
to finances, right?

A miracle is
when we have a need,

no way that
this need can be met,

but we turn to
our heavenly father
00:15:52.49\00:15:53.97
and He supplies that
need, sometimes it's financial,
00:15:54.00\00:15:57.15
sometimes it could be health,
00:15:57.18\00:15:59.00
sometimes it may
be numerous reasons,

but I want to take you
back number of years ago,

around 1981, I
was carpenter by trade
00:16:04.72\00:16:09.13
and I fell I was
playing basketball,
00:16:09.16\00:16:11.41
fell and broke my wrist,
00:16:11.44\00:16:12.91
broke the
navicular bone in my wrist,
00:16:12.94\00:16:14.85
which I didn't
know I had such a bone,
00:16:14.88\00:16:16.99
but they tell me that I
did, so when the doctor,
00:16:17.02\00:16:19.67
I went to the
hospital and he put on a cast
00:16:19.70\00:16:21.60
and I said, how
long will this be on?
00:16:21.63\00:16:23.73
And he's a foreign
doctor, had a foreign accent,
00:16:23.76\00:16:26.70
which I had a little
hard time understanding him,
00:16:26.73\00:16:28.88
and he said four
to six months at least
00:16:28.91\00:16:32.51
and so I thought he
didn't know English very well,

and I helped him and I said,
so you mean four to six weeks?

He said, no I mean
four to six months,

but it will be two or
three different casts.

Well and I said why?

Well, you broke the rotator bone

and be began to
tell me all about it,

all I knew is
this-- I didn't know

what I was gonna
do, I'm a carpenter,

I have no money in the
bank, no savings, nothing,

lived from week to week,
pay the bills, that's it.

Buy groceries and no
money really to spare

and so I have to
work, don't have insurance,

and so there is
no income coming,

no work means no income,

just kind of working
in business for myself

and for few years I
worked with my brother Kenny

and my brother Ronny.

And so here I was in a position

not gonna have any
work for several months,

so then I began to get
serious with God, right?

Sometimes we wait till--
till we getting the pickle,

getting a jam, and so then we--

we began to get
serious with God,

and so that's
really what happened to me,

I said, how I'm gonna do this?

How is this gonna-- gonna work?

So week or two went by
and somehow I don't know

how we made it,
can't even explain it,

but about the second Sabbath,
after I had the cast on my arm

I went to church, they
passed the offering plate

and I reached in my pocket,

and I knew how much
was there, I pulled out $2.
00:17:55.26\00:17:57.41
Now, folks, I'm
telling you with my hand up,
00:17:57.44\00:18:00.02
$2 was all I had to my name,
00:18:00.05\00:18:01.83
I didn't have a savings account,
00:18:01.86\00:18:03.83
didn't have a checking
account with money in it,
00:18:03.86\00:18:06.13
had $2 to my name.
00:18:06.16\00:18:08.39
So when the
offering plate came by,
00:18:08.42\00:18:11.98
I reached in my pocked,
and I said I need to put in
00:18:12.01\00:18:15.00
'cause I mean I
got to pay something,
00:18:15.03\00:18:17.59
you know, tithes and offerings,
00:18:17.62\00:18:19.39
but then I said, or
this little voice said to me,
00:18:19.42\00:18:24.41
oh, you can't do
that, if you put in that $2,
00:18:24.44\00:18:27.52
you won't have anything,
you can't put in that $2,
00:18:27.55\00:18:31.81
I mean God doesn't expect you
to put in your last $2, right?

I mean, surely He's not gonna
do that to you, you got $2,

so I said, well,
whoever said that

it made sense to
me, I said all right,

my voice said,
little voice in my head,

and I said okay, so I
put the $2 back in my pocket,

felt pretty good about it

until the deacon conjures to it,

to church member
they collect your offering

and stand on to back.

And then they would say,

and then they start
walking forward, right?

deacons come from the back

this other little voice said,

and it was basically as
though God was speaking.

So I said, I'm
gonna put this money

went by and I threw in the $2.

On the way home after church,

we had a church
that we build that there

and I guess late 70s

and was headed
into West Frankfurt,

I lived on the west
side of West Frankfurt,

in the west end
out in the little area

called Pershing.

So I was coming down
the little height hill

we call it in by for me with
that all of your transplants

here to Southern
Illinois, now you probably,

I don't if you know they
call that the height hill

when you go into West Frankfurt,

there's that little
hill that kind of looks down

on the rest of the cities.

So I was going
down there, heading up

and all of the sudden
came right pass the post office

and there's a stop light there,

and so my mind
was, what am I gonna do?

I got a family, no money, zero.

Now I didn't have rich parents,

and all of these things,

and the beauty of that is
it so reminds us of ourselves

what happen these men had quit,
quit operating in the physical.

They had totally
gone to the spiritual

physical they are gonna die.
