answer three questions

First of all, what is a miracle?

You know different
people have different ideas

of what a miracle,
what constitutes a miracle.

And this is the
definition that I came up with,

"A miracle is an effect
or an extraordinary event

in the physical world that
surpasses all human powers,

all natural or
known human powers

and it is ascribed to God."

In the most cases,
those are the true miracles.

But there are another
miracle, another type of miracle

that is ascribed to
other supernatural powers,

and that's of the devil.

The lying wonders of the devil.

So we're going to
try, I hope tonight

we'll have time to
touch on both of those.

But why does God work miracles?

You know, we're
talking about tonight,

Why does God work
miracles in the first place?

He does it so that
He can show His power

and His love to mankind.

So the question is,
where are all the miracles?

That's the title of this series.

people who are watching,

Moses who parted the Red Sea?

Where is the God of Joshua

who made the sun
and the moon standstill?

Where is the God of
Peter who actually let a shadow
00:13:17.93\00:13:24.07
that is being cast,
be the agent of healing?
00:13:24.10\00:13:28.30
Do you ever think like that?
00:13:28.34\00:13:30.11
Have those
questions ever kind of
00:13:30.14\00:13:32.61
rumbled around in your mind?
00:13:32.64\00:13:33.98
You know, when
we think like that,

our thinking is upside down.
00:13:35.51\00:13:37.35
We've got to
reverse the way we think

because God has not
changed, He is not absent,

He says in Malachi 3:6, "I
am the Lord, I change not."

And in Hebrews
13:8, it says that

"Jesus is the same
yesterday, today, and for ever."

So it is not
God who has changed.

I submit to
you, it is His people

who have changed.

And when we think of this,

what we've got to
ask ourselves are"

Where are the
people who are trusting God

like Moses did for deliverance?

Where are the people

who believe that God
can do the impossible,

that He can do
things in the physical realm

that seem
absolutely impossible to us,
00:14:24.46\00:14:27.96
just like Joshua did?
00:14:28.00\00:14:29.90
And where are
the people like Peter
00:14:29.93\00:14:33.27
who walked so
closely united with the Lord
00:14:33.30\00:14:36.71
that they were so in
step with the Holy Spirit,
00:14:36.74\00:14:39.94
that when their shadow was cast
00:14:39.97\00:14:41.88
it was united with His?
00:14:41.91\00:14:43.71
It was the power
of the Holy Spirit
00:14:43.75\00:14:45.68
that was doing this heeling.

So what we're going
to talk about tonight,

if I had to give this a title,

and I'm not one to
title my messages, you know,

But for me, what I
would give this is as a title

"The Source, the Secret,

the Seed and the
Surge of Miracles."

Those are the four points

we're going to
try to cover tonight.

The source of all
true miracles is God.

Goes without saying
that Zechariah 4:6, he said,

"Not by power, not by
might, not by any human agency,

but by my
spirit," says the Lord.

The secret to experiencing
the miracle is in abiding.

And we're going to
spend some time on that.

The seed of the
miracle is stored.

It's wrapped up
inside of His word.

And the surge of miracles
that Jesus promised would come

will only come
when two things happen.

And that is, when His people
are so closely united with Him,

abiding in Him
that they are walking

in perfect unity with Him.

And number two is
when they increase

the measure of their expectancy,

when they increase
the measure of faith

and exercise greater faith.

Because you know,
there is a biblical principle

that the measure you use
will be measured back to you.

So now if you open your

We're going to look at the
source of all true miracles

from creation to
recreation, and that is God.

You know Joshua,
Moses, Peter, the men of God

knew to look to God
for all the answers.

No matter what their need was,

they look to the
Lord for as their source,

they knew that from him
emanated these miracles.

But did you know that even Jesus

looked to the
Father for the miracle?

And He set a standard for us.

He set an example for us

of our absolute
total dependence upon God.

Let's look at John 5:19.

It says, "Then Jesus
answered and said to them,

'Most assuredly, I say to you,

the Son can do
nothing of Himself."

Now that's
interesting, isn't it?

Here is the Son of
God, perfectly divine,

perfectly human but
He laid down His powers
00:17:42.46\00:17:45.83
when He came here
00:17:45.86\00:17:47.20
because He had to live
to be a perfect savior.

He had to live just
like you and I have to live.

He had to deal with
the same limitations

that you and I
have to deal with.

And so what He did
was He came and He said,

I can do nothing of myself.

sees the Father do,

Greater works than the things

Not only did Jesus do

Now isn't that amazing?

If we can get this in our mind

that this is the
source of miracles,

miracles, the Father.

And what we need to do is
be like Moses, be like Joshua,

be like Peter, be like Jesus.

Learn to be totally
dependent upon a God

that has infinite love for us.

Look at John 14:8.

"Philip said to Him, to Christ,

and it is sufficient for us.'

And Jesus said to him,

not known Me, Philip?

He who has seen Me
has seen the Father,

so how can you say,

Now look at this

I want to pause
just a second here.

Jesus as Son of Man
was a man pf prayer.

He was a man who
sought his Father's will.

You know, you've
heard it said that prayer

is the breath of the
soul, the breath of the spirit.

This is, this is how you
and I breathe spiritually.

That's why Paul
says, pray without ceasing.

When you cease to
breathe what happens?

You suffocate.

And you know what,
there's a lot of people

who are suffocating spiritually

prayer life is so sporadic

that they end up
when they do go to prayer,

they're just
gasping for spiritual life.

The Sanhedrin recognize

that these men
had been with Jesus,

because these uneducated
men were speaking so boldly.

They knew that they
had been with Jesus.

And then they warned

The first was with me.

Actually, the first was with JD.

JD had open knee surgery,
got an infection in his body,

he would have a raging fever.

And all of a sudden this
man goes from being very ill to

at death's door.

And they, they
couldn't figure out

what was going on.

His haematocrit was at zero.

They did a bone
marrow test on him.

And when they did
this bone marrow test,
