Savior shall be Christ the Lord,

Matthew gives you
that, Luke gives you that,

and then of
course, John gives us in,

Jesus goes into a church,

with an unclean spirit, a demon.

And the demon begins to preach.

The demon says,

You are the Holy One of God.

You are the Lord who
have come to torment us."

Now Jesus neither desires

nor requires a
sermon from devil.

And so in verse 25,
he addresses that devil

and says two things.

One, shut up.
Two, get out. Yeah?

That's how you
talk to the devil.

Jesus told him,

We find a number
of things in Luke

that we don't find
in the other stories.

That sort of fill in the blanks

and make it a
very real story for us.

Having said that now,

The Rule of First
Mention, which says that

mentioned in the word of God,

introduces a character,

in highlighting the character
traits of that individual.

The Bible says in

Luke, all state emphatically

that he was a ruler.

And when we read
monumental work Desire of Ages

she uses the same
term, "He was a ruler."

In fact, she says, "He was
the ruler of the synagogue."

Now the Bible
writers didn't waste words,

they didn't add words,
they didn't mince words,

they didn't subtract words.

They always used
word very carefully.

And all of the
important characteristics,

His orders are instantaneously

Jairus is the man.

He knows it. He shows it.

He lives like
it. He acts like it.

He is respected and deferred to,

"Jairus is the leader."

I was in a meeting
one time not too long ago.

We've been in that
meeting for about five hours

and everybody was tired
and scratching their head

and their ties were down.

Now, this wasn't
just a physical issue,

it was a spiritual issue,

the Bible says, "As long
as there is a blood flow,

you're ceremonially unclean

and you cannot
go to the temple."

So we must assume

that from the day
that blood began to flow,

the priest
pronounced her unclean,

unfit for worship,
unfit for ministry,

and unfit to go to the temple.

So she had a physical problem,

spiritual reality

wants to get physically whole,

And so she like
Jairus, had followed the crowd

to the house of Levi Matthew.

She saw Him go in, she saw Him
come out, and she followed Him.

And she realized in her
mind, I'm never gonna make it.

There's too many
people, the crowd is too big,

I'll never get close to Him.
