Beautiful, tonight I'm gonna do 00:06:34.08\00:06:49.44 something different to what it says in 00:06:49.45\00:06:50.93 your bulletin. And I hope to get back on 00:06:50.94\00:06:54.35 schedule tomorrow night, but tonight I got to 00:06:54.36\00:06:56.69 talk to you about the serious thing, 00:06:56.70\00:06:58.11 the remnant. I think you're very problem 00:06:58.12\00:07:01.88 in the world today and the very problem even 00:07:01.89\00:07:03.99 in the church today is, the idea that 00:07:04.00\00:07:05.90 everybody is going in different direction, 00:07:05.91\00:07:07.39 but we're gonna finally get there. And so, 00:07:07.40\00:07:11.45 I want you to look at this with me tonight. 00:07:11.46\00:07:13.27 Let's bow our heads in a word of pray, 00:07:13.28\00:07:14.86 lets seek the presence of Christ. 00:07:14.87\00:07:16.64 Listen carefully to what the spirit says 00:07:16.65\00:07:19.58 to His church. Father God, which art in heaven, 00:07:19.59\00:07:23.12 we humbly bow in your presence. 00:07:23.13\00:07:24.70 We pray for the outpouring of your Holy Spirit. 00:07:26.47\00:07:28.53 We're not satisfied that we're still here. 00:07:30.40\00:07:32.67 We want to be in the Kingdom. 00:07:34.39\00:07:35.65 We pray Father that you're reveal to us 00:07:38.24\00:07:40.22 to wonderful truth to the word of God 00:07:40.23\00:07:41.62 that we'll be faithful to the Bible. 00:07:41.63\00:07:43.15 And we know you're gonna be faithful to us. 00:07:44.78\00:07:46.49 And so speak through your word 00:07:48.04\00:07:49.64 and we'll give you honor and praise 00:07:51.16\00:07:53.43 and glory in the name of Christ, amen, amen. 00:07:54.48\00:08:00.60 He looked old and haggard, deep lines drawn 00:08:00.61\00:08:07.22 by the pen of pain ached his face. 00:08:07.23\00:08:10.14 His back was bent over from years of hardship 00:08:11.75\00:08:14.10 and you could tell by meeting Him that 00:08:14.11\00:08:16.09 he was a man that had felt the bad side of life. 00:08:16.10\00:08:19.44 The life had gone out in his eyes 00:08:20.79\00:08:24.27 I mean when I first met him he was 00:08:25.77\00:08:28.31 living in Manhattan, New York City. 00:08:28.32\00:08:30.91 And he wasn't poor by any means he had 00:08:30.92\00:08:34.07 New York real estate, oh! New York, real-estate 00:08:34.08\00:08:36.78 and let me tell you, he knew how to turn a buck. 00:08:36.79\00:08:39.83 Beautiful apartment, Central Park West, 00:08:41.94\00:08:45.05 over looking the Park, drove a limo, 00:08:45.06\00:08:49.35 or he didn't drive it, the limo driver drove it, 00:08:49.56\00:08:52.82 he just rode in it. A large bank account, 00:08:53.29\00:08:56.69 but he was poverty-stricken in soul. 00:08:57.60\00:08:59.99 He was a lonely man, he was a rejected man, 00:09:01.25\00:09:03.15 he was a hopeless man, he reluctantly 00:09:03.16\00:09:06.02 told me his story. He was born in Poland, 00:09:06.03\00:09:10.62 in a fine Jewish family, if it had been any other 00:09:11.87\00:09:15.70 time in history, anyother time in periodic history, 00:09:15.71\00:09:18.51 he would have known the best side of life, 00:09:18.52\00:09:21.59 he would have, I mean he would have enjoyed 00:09:21.60\00:09:24.17 the comforts of a rich home and a rich heritage. 00:09:24.18\00:09:26.82 But the year was 1940; it wasn't a good year 00:09:27.62\00:09:31.07 for Jews in Poland. In fact, he told me the 00:09:31.08\00:09:35.54 story how that one night they came and, 00:09:35.55\00:09:37.68 and cattle cars and the Squala and the death, 00:09:37.69\00:09:40.76 he arrived at Auschwitz. He arrived in hell, 00:09:40.77\00:09:47.17 he wept as he told me the story and as 00:09:48.62\00:09:51.06 he showed me the mark of Auschwitz. 00:09:51.07\00:09:56.34 He talked of the starvation and he 00:09:57.54\00:09:58.82 talked about the stench of death. 00:09:58.83\00:10:00.77 And now I read about the holocaust, to think 00:10:02.11\00:10:04.57 between 1939-1945, six million Jews were killed. 00:10:04.58\00:10:09.14 The holocaust was much more than an 00:10:11.65\00:10:12.79 attack on Jewish people, the holocaust was 00:10:12.80\00:10:15.69 more than a decision to kill every last Jew 00:10:15.70\00:10:18.19 in the world for the crime of being a Jew. 00:10:18.20\00:10:20.92 The holocaust was more than mass murder, 00:10:20.93\00:10:23.59 it was an assault on the values as people, of the 00:10:23.60\00:10:26.69 people of God. The holocaust degraded them, 00:10:26.70\00:10:31.81 it turned them into an anonymous massive people, 00:10:33.30\00:10:36.03 holocaust killed the spark in them, the 00:10:36.04\00:10:38.27 picture showed faceless presence emaciated 00:10:38.28\00:10:41.31 head dropped, shoulder stooped, 00:10:41.88\00:10:43.58 the Nazi's concluded death by firing squad 00:10:43.59\00:10:46.47 was too much money. So, they used 00:10:46.48\00:10:49.63 insecticide which caused them a half a 00:10:49.64\00:10:51.99 penny for a person that was the holocaust. 00:10:52.00\00:10:58.37 Some people say there was no such 00:10:58.77\00:10:59.79 thing as the holocaust; well they're probably 00:10:59.80\00:11:02.09 the same people who don't believe 00:11:02.10\00:11:03.07 in such a place as hell. And then my friend 00:11:03.08\00:11:08.86 with tears streaming down his face 00:11:09.94\00:11:11.51 told how one night he was freed, 00:11:12.65\00:11:14.49 miraculously by the allied forces, 00:11:15.88\00:11:18.04 and then he came to America and, 00:11:18.74\00:11:20.61 and he, he then said something 00:11:20.62\00:11:22.01 I'll never forget, he looked at me 00:11:22.02\00:11:23.44 and he said, I'm going home soon. 00:11:23.82\00:11:25.77 Where is your home Poland? He said, no Israel. 00:11:27.82\00:11:30.34 I'm going back to the land of my fathers, 00:11:31.42\00:11:33.76 the land of Abraham, of Isaac and of Jacob. 00:11:33.77\00:11:36.84 Now, he's somewhere now in Israel. 00:11:36.85\00:11:38.78 But this evening I want you to focus 00:11:41.50\00:11:43.16 your attention on a different remnant. 00:11:43.17\00:11:46.14 The remnant of God, you see God has 00:11:46.69\00:11:49.74 always had a remnant, I mean he's prosecuted 00:11:49.75\00:11:53.58 at times, impoverished at times, faithful at 00:11:53.59\00:11:57.22 times, backsliding at times, pagan at times, 00:11:57.23\00:12:00.76 but always a remnant of the people of God. 00:12:00.77\00:12:03.40 You cannot reach scripture without 00:12:03.41\00:12:05.42 coming face-to-face and discovering 00:12:05.43\00:12:07.58 one glorious truth, basic truth that 00:12:07.59\00:12:10.61 God is leading, God is guiding through 00:12:10.62\00:12:12.97 the centuries. Amen. That's why the 00:12:12.98\00:12:16.52 gifted woman said; lest we forget the 00:12:16.53\00:12:18.85 way that God has led us in the past. 00:12:18.86\00:12:21.23 Now, it's not popular today to talk 00:12:22.27\00:12:24.01 about the remnant, I mean higher and 00:12:24.02\00:12:26.42 lower criticism has tried to erase the truth 00:12:26.43\00:12:29.52 of the remnant, it matters little to me 00:12:29.79\00:12:32.07 what is written, it matters little to 00:12:32.23\00:12:33.93 me what is said against the church today. 00:12:33.94\00:12:36.38 I believe and I'm certain that church is the 00:12:36.39\00:12:39.36 defective as it is, we'll compromise 00:12:39.37\00:12:41.51 the remnant of God when Jesus Christ 00:12:41.52\00:12:43.86 comes back the second time. 00:12:43.87\00:12:45.47 A redeemed remnant, now this remnant we 00:12:47.81\00:12:51.49 must consider this evening, the times demand 00:12:51.50\00:12:54.74 it. Let's take a close look at this great 00:12:54.75\00:12:57.41 Biblical truth the remnant. My text is taken 00:12:57.42\00:12:59.99 from the Old Testament, I mean it's an 00:13:00.00\00:13:01.92 ancient world written by a Holy Man, 00:13:01.93\00:13:03.69 a Holy Man of God, it was written in 00:13:03.70\00:13:06.04 ancient time, it is applicable to day 00:13:06.05\00:13:08.63 to the people of God, it's applicable to 00:13:08.64\00:13:11.02 every generation, for God is the 00:13:11.03\00:13:13.07 same yesterday, He is the same today 00:13:13.08\00:13:15.49 and He is the same forever. Amen. 00:13:15.50\00:13:18.16 It was first written between 750 BC and 700 BC. 00:13:19.67\00:13:25.17 The man who wrote it and the words was a 00:13:26.15\00:13:29.51 City Preacher, so I right away attracted to him. 00:13:29.52\00:13:32.26 I'm an Urban Evangelist; I'm really attracted 00:13:33.94\00:13:37.24 to him. He was the son of Amos, 00:13:37.25\00:13:40.39 his name was Isaiah. He is the one who 00:13:41.17\00:13:44.38 defends the idea of the remnant; 00:13:44.66\00:13:46.62 he is the one who writes about the remnant. 00:13:46.69\00:13:49.09 Isaiah is the spokesman for God, 00:13:49.10\00:13:51.25 he is gifted of speech, but more he 00:13:51.26\00:13:53.86 is gifted of Spirit. Now, it's interesting 00:13:53.87\00:13:58.68 to me personally, how little 00:13:58.69\00:14:01.01 we actually know about Isaiah? 00:14:01.02\00:14:03.00 Do you ever consider that? I mean Isaiah 00:14:03.80\00:14:07.78 seems to be shrouded in mystery and 00:14:07.79\00:14:11.32 I guess that's the ligament of so many, 00:14:11.33\00:14:13.03 world's great men and great women, 00:14:13.04\00:14:15.16 poets and writers who have impacted 00:14:15.17\00:14:16.98 our minds with words that personally 00:14:16.99\00:14:19.35 they remain a mystery. I think of Shakespeare. 00:14:19.36\00:14:23.11 We know so little about the man by the way, 00:14:24.36\00:14:26.29 in fact there is a question of how to spell 00:14:26.30\00:14:28.17 his name, not only that some say that 00:14:28.18\00:14:32.41 was no such person, it was either Christopher 00:14:32.42\00:14:34.45 Marlowe or Francis Baker. I think of Dante, 00:14:34.46\00:14:39.14 that great Italian poet. I mean we know 00:14:39.15\00:14:42.58 less about him than we do about Shakespeare, 00:14:42.59\00:14:44.92 I think of Homer, he was another world's 00:14:44.93\00:14:47.03 great writers and yet we know little 00:14:47.04\00:14:48.35 as if nothing about him. Where was he born, 00:14:48.36\00:14:51.15 what was the university attended? I mean, 00:14:51.16\00:14:53.59 how did his writings evolve, the method 00:14:53.60\00:14:55.41 and the madness of the man, we 00:14:55.42\00:14:57.35 know little, the great patriarchs 00:14:57.36\00:14:58.63 and prophets we can understand, 00:14:58.64\00:15:00.52 we can get our minds around, 00:15:00.53\00:15:01.61 we could put our arms around. 00:15:01.62\00:15:02.92 Abraham, we know a lot about him, 00:15:02.93\00:15:04.68 we know about Jacob and 00:15:04.87\00:15:06.30 we know about Moses, 00:15:06.31\00:15:07.74 the great deliver of his people. 00:15:07.75\00:15:09.29 We can read the story of Joseph 00:15:09.30\00:15:11.04 and put his life together and say, Ah! 00:15:11.05\00:15:13.37 What a man? What a man of integrity. 00:15:13.38\00:15:15.97 But not Isaiah, 00:15:19.03\00:15:20.47 now I grappled with that point. 00:15:21.28\00:15:23.54 As a, a Bible student I struggled with 00:15:24.19\00:15:26.80 that point, as an expositor of the Bible 00:15:26.81\00:15:30.03 I've, I've, I've wrestled with that 00:15:30.04\00:15:31.62 point to explain it and I came up with this, 00:15:31.63\00:15:34.71 perhaps in the providence of almighty God 00:15:36.32\00:15:38.71 that God hide the man in the mist, 00:15:40.62\00:15:43.19 shrouded his form, shrouded his figure. 00:15:44.83\00:15:48.89 So, that the voice of God could be heard, 00:15:49.63\00:15:52.05 the man is not important, 00:15:52.20\00:15:53.73 it matters little of the man, 00:15:53.74\00:15:55.39 but it matters lot the truth 00:15:55.40\00:15:56.97 that he speaks. Amen. 00:15:56.98\00:15:57.95 A man comes from the seed of woman, 00:16:00.64\00:16:02.19 the message from the seed of Almighty God. 00:16:02.78\00:16:08.01 Perhaps that's an explanation, 00:16:09.67\00:16:11.16 but what we do know 00:16:12.48\00:16:14.13 about this man, he was a City Preacher, 00:16:16.65\00:16:20.04 we know that much, he was born in the city, 00:16:20.05\00:16:22.54 he was labored in the city, 00:16:22.55\00:16:24.11 he was a prophet to the City of Jerusalem, 00:16:24.25\00:16:26.54 his ministry lasted fifty years, 00:16:26.70\00:16:28.83 which he spent City Preaching, 00:16:28.84\00:16:30.83 praying for the multitudes, 00:16:31.02\00:16:32.35 Isaiah was a court preacher, 00:16:32.43\00:16:33.88 how do we know that? The figures of 00:16:33.89\00:16:35.53 speech he uses, I mean the references, 00:16:35.54\00:16:38.11 the poetic speech of the man. 00:16:38.12\00:16:40.48 He was one of the little, great of the thing, 00:16:40.49\00:16:42.99 little, great preachers or great preachers 00:16:43.00\00:16:46.34 of the City of the past. 00:16:46.35\00:16:47.70 He was like Jeremiah was to Jerusalem, 00:16:47.79\00:16:50.05 he was like Paul was to Ephesus, 00:16:50.09\00:16:52.15 he was like Christendom was to Constantinople. 00:16:52.16\00:16:55.06 He was like Savonarola was to Florence 00:16:55.39\00:16:57.68 and Calvin was to Geneva, 00:16:57.69\00:16:59.29 and Spurgeon was to London. 00:16:59.30\00:17:00.96 He was the first and foremost a preacher 00:17:00.97\00:17:03.13 and so he spoke the word of God. 00:17:03.27\00:17:05.17 We need more preaches from the pulpit 00:17:05.19\00:17:07.09 and don't give us suggestions 00:17:07.10\00:17:09.09 or some kind of pop-spiritual psychology. 00:17:12.35\00:17:15.50 We don't need sermons about bubbling brooks 00:17:17.10\00:17:19.75 and how nice we are. 00:17:20.04\00:17:21.55 We need sermons to convict us 00:17:21.56\00:17:23.48 of our need for God, could convict us 00:17:23.49\00:17:25.92 that we're here for one purpose alone 00:17:26.09\00:17:27.96 and that's to share Jesus and to 00:17:28.11\00:17:29.99 uphold him before the multitude. 00:17:30.00\00:17:31.98 We need conviction in our church again. Amen. 00:17:31.99\00:17:35.51 Little pansy type preachers. 00:17:37.65\00:17:39.95 He was a man of culture Isaiah. 00:17:46.08\00:17:47.93 In fact, he's an aristocrat in birth, 00:17:49.51\00:17:51.30 he was an aristocrat in his bury, 00:17:51.43\00:17:53.42 the little bit we know about him, 00:17:53.59\00:17:55.30 he was a man of poetry, 00:17:55.31\00:17:56.90 he was an artist, painting words, 00:17:56.97\00:17:59.15 word pictures, he was a master of the language, 00:17:59.16\00:18:01.29 he was known to be 00:18:01.38\00:18:02.35 beyond that of Demosthenes, 00:18:02.36\00:18:03.77 he employs every form of speech, 00:18:03.97\00:18:05.90 of iteration and parable and dialogue 00:18:05.91\00:18:08.74 and interrogation and metaphor and simile. 00:18:08.75\00:18:11.90 He rises to the heights of poetry 00:18:12.25\00:18:14.37 beyond what we could even imagine, 00:18:14.38\00:18:16.27 that's the man hidden in the mist. Amen. 00:18:16.28\00:18:18.89 His words are God breathe 00:18:22.19\00:18:23.94 and that does some thing to a word. 00:18:24.96\00:18:26.97 God, he is a poet and a preacher, 00:18:28.01\00:18:31.55 but say most he is a prophet. 00:18:33.07\00:18:34.85 And he speaks to the church 00:18:36.75\00:18:38.33 in every age. He delivers from his pen 00:18:39.86\00:18:44.17 dipped in the ink of inspiration 00:18:44.25\00:18:46.33 the eternal truth of the remnant. 00:18:46.34\00:18:48.00 And listen carefully, if have your Bibles 00:18:48.01\00:18:50.02 turn with me to the Book of Isaiah, 00:18:50.03\00:18:52.12 and let's look carefully at the first chapter, 00:18:52.45\00:18:54.84 the introduction to this man's message. 00:18:54.85\00:18:57.54 And I want you to notice he starts out 00:18:57.82\00:18:59.98 with the message itself in verse 9, 00:18:59.99\00:19:02.63 that's Isaiah chapter 1 00:19:02.86\00:19:05.68 verse 9, it's amazing medical science. 00:19:06.58\00:19:09.52 I can see a fly at 5000 paces on the wall, 00:19:11.07\00:19:15.12 but I have to use magnifying glasses 00:19:15.68\00:19:17.44 to read my Bible. Anyway amazing, 00:19:17.45\00:19:20.85 verse 9 "Except the Lord of hosts 00:19:23.50\00:19:28.08 have left unto us a very small remnant, 00:19:29.22\00:19:33.92 we should have been a Sodom, 00:19:34.84\00:19:36.65 and we should have been like unto 00:19:37.12\00:19:39.85 Gomorrah." Like Sodom and like Gomorrah. 00:19:40.43\00:19:45.65 Now, the Greek Septuagint, 00:19:45.66\00:19:47.65 translation of this world by the way, 00:19:48.10\00:19:50.16 remnant is sperma, from the word sperma 00:19:50.67\00:19:54.73 we get the word sperm or seed, 00:19:55.13\00:19:57.55 if the Lord had not left sperma, 00:19:57.84\00:19:59.98 if the Lord had not left a seed, 00:19:59.99\00:20:01.91 a band of faithful followers, 00:20:01.92\00:20:03.55 we would have been a Sodom and Gomorrah, 00:20:03.56\00:20:05.60 we would be no more, if God 00:20:05.64\00:20:07.76 had not preserved the seed. Amen. Wow! Wow! 00:20:07.77\00:20:14.56 I wrote a book called Prayer Warriors. 00:20:17.70\00:20:19.22 How many have read it, 00:20:20.59\00:20:21.56 any of you? Wow! There is quite a few 00:20:21.57\00:20:23.23 intelligent people here in this audience 00:20:24.31\00:20:26.21 this evening, but I, I 00:20:26.68\00:20:29.54 I was struggling with the armor. 00:20:29.92\00:20:31.65 For years I preached only armor. 00:20:32.59\00:20:34.41 What is the first piece of armor 00:20:35.20\00:20:36.44 that he tells you to put on? 00:20:36.45\00:20:37.62 No, not the helmet of salvation, 00:20:39.15\00:20:40.51 not the breast plate of righteousness, 00:20:40.52\00:20:42.36 they like to talk about that, but it's not that. 00:20:42.37\00:20:44.50 First thing he tells you to 00:20:44.58\00:20:45.55 put on is the loincloth, 00:20:45.56\00:20:47.43 why? Because it protects the reproductive 00:20:48.81\00:20:51.36 organ and what the church is about, 00:20:51.37\00:20:53.05 it is to be reproduce itself, 00:20:53.06\00:20:54.72 that is what this church is about, 00:20:54.73\00:20:56.72 it's not to entertain you, it's to make you, 00:20:56.73\00:20:59.18 so that you might reproduce Jesus on the Earth, 00:20:59.19\00:21:02.75 that you might be able to reproduce 00:21:02.76\00:21:04.68 the truth on the Earth that. 00:21:04.69\00:21:05.66 And so, the devil when he attacks you, 00:21:05.67\00:21:07.82 he attacks you not in your theology, 00:21:07.83\00:21:09.72 he attacks you at your 00:21:09.94\00:21:10.91 reproduction and your discipleship 00:21:10.92\00:21:13.35 Think about it for a few months. 00:21:16.09\00:21:17.68 And get the book 00:21:20.68\00:21:21.80 that's the commercial let's get back. 00:21:23.52\00:21:25.31 I mean the doctor of the remnant is found 00:21:28.82\00:21:30.24 everywhere in the Book of Isaiah. 00:21:30.25\00:21:31.86 Isaiah 11:11, Isaiah 11:16, 00:21:32.90\00:21:36.51 Isaiah 36, check upon me, Isaiah 37:1 and 3. 00:21:37.57\00:21:41.54 We could see it again in Isaiah 37 verse 31 00:21:41.55\00:21:44.58 and 32, Isaiah 46 verse 3 and 4. 00:21:44.59\00:21:47.67 Centuries later Paul picks up the carrion call, 00:21:47.91\00:21:50.52 the remnant Romans 9:27 and 28, 00:21:50.53\00:21:53.95 and years later the old man of Patmos 00:21:54.28\00:21:56.70 writes his pen, his pen dipped in 00:21:56.71\00:21:58.82 the red blood ink of Calvary drops 00:21:58.83\00:22:00.73 his new found faith like golden pollen 00:22:00.74\00:22:02.94 from stems of shaken lilies 00:22:02.95\00:22:04.73 and they sweep the lives of men in every age. 00:22:04.74\00:22:07.23 Old John writes, they couldn't 00:22:07.24\00:22:09.41 prison his hands and his legs and he could 00:22:09.42\00:22:11.71 chain his legs, but they 00:22:11.72\00:22:13.13 could not chain his heart. Amen. 00:22:13.14\00:22:16.41 And he writes let's look at it. 00:22:19.19\00:22:22.61 Old man at Patmos, 00:22:24.01\00:22:25.57 by the way he got the vision on Patmos 00:22:26.52\00:22:28.56 and he finishes the book at Ephesus 00:22:28.57\00:22:30.64 in that wonderful church we talked about. 00:22:30.97\00:22:32.76 Let's look at this Revelation 12 and verse 00:22:33.18\00:22:39.31 17, "And the dragon was angry 00:22:41.54\00:22:46.37 with the woman, and went to make war 00:22:48.11\00:22:52.06 with the remnant of her seed, sperma, 00:22:52.07\00:22:55.70 which keep the commandments of God, 00:22:57.45\00:22:59.19 and have the testimony 00:23:01.09\00:23:02.60 of Jesus Christ." The doctor of remnant, 00:23:06.23\00:23:10.42 the little band of believers, 00:23:10.43\00:23:12.04 who are left on the earth a tiny torn 00:23:15.02\00:23:17.26 scattered remnant, they've come through the 00:23:17.27\00:23:19.46 great prosecution, they've come through the great 00:23:19.47\00:23:21.80 tribulation, they've come through the 00:23:21.81\00:23:23.63 shaking time, they've come washed and clean 00:23:23.64\00:23:26.62 through the blood of Christ. 00:23:26.78\00:23:28.20 Isaiah deals with two great things, 00:23:28.26\00:23:30.18 the book deals with two great things. 00:23:30.34\00:23:32.19 One is the inevitable judgment, 00:23:32.20\00:23:33.79 listen to me payday someday Adventist, 00:23:33.80\00:23:36.38 you hear me? Payday someday, 00:23:37.44\00:23:39.44 you can't play with the devil 00:23:40.32\00:23:41.68 and get away with him, 00:23:41.69\00:23:43.04 you can't play with sin and get away from it, 00:23:43.44\00:23:45.86 payday someday, the inevitable judgment 00:23:46.41\00:23:49.93 and secondly, the incomprehensible 00:23:49.94\00:23:52.36 salvation. Amen. 00:23:52.37\00:23:54.25 In fact, Isaiah is called the Gospel Writer 00:23:54.32\00:23:56.88 of the Old Testament he deals with grace, 00:23:57.00\00:23:59.23 but he deals with judgment. 00:24:00.29\00:24:02.04 Grace, the unmerited favor. 00:24:03.15\00:24:05.36 I remember the first time I saw a grace, 00:24:05.69\00:24:08.07 no not the girl grace I mean grace grace. 00:24:09.09\00:24:11.76 I was a little kid in Brooklyn, 00:24:13.14\00:24:15.03 I threw a rock through a window boom, 00:24:15.85\00:24:18.71 I was giggling and took another rock 00:24:18.72\00:24:21.07 and boom, and I turned around and run, 00:24:21.08\00:24:24.14 and I ran right into the Irish cop, 00:24:24.15\00:24:27.63 into his arms. Boom, he picked me up 00:24:29.05\00:24:32.22 by the scuff of my neck, picked me up 00:24:32.23\00:24:33.98 my feet was still going. 00:24:33.99\00:24:35.32 He said, young man you threw a rock 00:24:38.02\00:24:39.95 through the window. I said, no I didn't, 00:24:39.96\00:24:41.93 I said, I saw you threw a rock through the window. 00:24:41.94\00:24:44.27 You're going to jail, going to jail, 00:24:45.17\00:24:49.09 little feet still going. He said, I'm taking you 00:24:49.10\00:24:54.16 to jail 68th Precinct was jail, that building. 00:24:54.17\00:24:58.25 So, we started towards the 68th Precinct. 00:25:00.42\00:25:03.15 Young man you can't throw rocks 00:25:03.16\00:25:05.64 through windows and get away with it. 00:25:05.65\00:25:07.25 And then I'm thinking, 00:25:07.26\00:25:09.52 he is going to call dad, 00:25:10.06\00:25:13.34 he'll dress me up in a white 00:25:14.68\00:25:17.73 and black stripe suit and I don't look 00:25:17.74\00:25:19.67 good in it, white and black stripes. 00:25:19.68\00:25:22.84 I'm thinking, I'm behind bars, 00:25:25.02\00:25:27.24 dad's gonna come and kill me, 00:25:27.25\00:25:29.64 but then I thought I said, oh! No, 00:25:29.65\00:25:32.85 maybe mom will come, that's worse. 00:25:32.86\00:25:37.70 He said, young man you can't go do that, 00:25:43.10\00:25:45.98 got up the stairs just ready to book, 00:25:45.99\00:25:49.36 he set my feet down. He said, 00:25:49.37\00:25:53.33 will you do it again? Oh! I never do it again. 00:25:53.34\00:25:57.30 What a liar? I'll never do it again. 00:25:57.31\00:25:59.80 He said, don't you ever do it again. 00:26:01.96\00:26:04.06 Boom! I ran straight for home, that was grace. 00:26:04.07\00:26:06.66 I saw it for the first time; you asked me, 00:26:08.01\00:26:11.43 did I break other windows? 00:26:11.44\00:26:13.24 I gotta confess, I blamed a lot of it 00:26:14.88\00:26:18.70 on my brother, but it was me, 00:26:18.71\00:26:23.00 the incomprehensible salvation, 00:26:26.23\00:26:30.21 inevitable judgment. 00:26:31.33\00:26:32.83 You see, what he is saying here 00:26:33.71\00:26:35.09 is the earth maybe destroyed it will, 00:26:35.10\00:26:36.66 but the remnant will be saved, 00:26:36.67\00:26:38.24 the saving of the remnant is the miracle 00:26:38.25\00:26:40.35 when you consider they have been preserved 00:26:40.36\00:26:42.88 from the Holocaust of Armageddon, 00:26:42.89\00:26:44.58 they've been preserved from 00:26:44.59\00:26:45.85 the Holocaust of economic boycott, 00:26:46.02\00:26:47.64 they've been saved from the 00:26:47.65\00:26:49.47 constitutional changes and the death degree, 00:26:49.48\00:26:51.94 a remnant that called out winds of God 00:26:51.95\00:26:54.15 from every church, from every synagogue, 00:26:54.16\00:26:56.56 from every mosque, a remnant of God, 00:26:56.57\00:27:00.00 Isaiah is the prophet, 00:27:02.05\00:27:03.24 preacher and the prince 00:27:05.02\00:27:08.70 leaps is it were from despair, 00:27:09.52\00:27:12.31 to hope, from threat to promise, 00:27:13.42\00:27:18.81 from earth to heaven, 00:27:19.73\00:27:23.70 from the destruction to the restoration. 00:27:24.85\00:27:28.81 We see this illustrating the doctrine 00:27:30.53\00:27:32.22 of the remnant, I mean several things 00:27:32.23\00:27:33.54 are obvious about this remnant; 00:27:33.55\00:27:35.06 the world cannot be destroyed as long 00:27:35.07\00:27:36.51 as the remnant are here. 00:27:36.52\00:27:37.63 God is not causing a delay because 00:27:41.82\00:27:43.45 you haven't done your thing. 00:27:43.46\00:27:44.78 He'll do your thing if you don't do your thing. Amen. 00:27:45.64\00:27:48.81 But He can't. As long as there's someone 00:27:52.46\00:27:56.93 As long as there's someone 00:27:58.33\00:27:59.30 that loves God. He said, 00:27:59.31\00:28:01.21 he, it would be Sodom and Gomorrah, 00:28:01.22\00:28:02.42 you would remember the story 00:28:02.43\00:28:03.40 of Sodom and Gomorrah, God came right down, 00:28:03.41\00:28:05.26 I mean he had to lift them up and take, 00:28:05.55\00:28:07.12 He send angels to get them, out of the city, 00:28:07.13\00:28:09.88 I mean God had the literally lifted them up 00:28:09.93\00:28:12.54 to take them out, 00:28:12.55\00:28:13.58 but Sodom could not be destroyed 00:28:13.97\00:28:16.19 as long as lot was in the city. Amen. 00:28:16.38\00:28:18.02 By the way that's why the close of probation, 00:28:23.27\00:28:25.48 God is coming for His, his people 00:28:27.82\00:28:31.18 and then He's going to bring 00:28:32.87\00:28:34.07 judgment on this world. 00:28:34.08\00:28:35.26 I mean Genesis 19:22 tells us that, 00:28:37.10\00:28:39.97 as long as the righteous remained in 00:28:40.58\00:28:41.99 the city God could not, God would not destroy it. 00:28:42.15\00:28:44.28 And there is still hope for our world 00:28:44.40\00:28:45.66 because God knows there's people 00:28:45.67\00:28:47.98 here who love God and there are people in 00:28:47.99\00:28:50.13 the church who love God. 00:28:50.14\00:28:51.62 And as long as they are here, 00:28:51.63\00:28:52.84 and as long as he knows that, 00:28:53.02\00:28:54.69 he will not destroy them. Amen. 00:28:54.70\00:28:57.82 Men and women of a perverse culture 00:29:02.60\00:29:04.12 that still love God, 00:29:04.13\00:29:05.32 remain faithful to God, 00:29:07.25\00:29:08.74 are you faithful to God? Amen. 00:29:32.91\00:29:35.52 And He's not forsaken us. 00:29:37.06\00:29:38.55 Nor will he forsake us. 00:29:39.74\00:29:40.89 Look in Revelation chapter 11, 00:29:40.90\00:29:42.67 look at verse 3 God will not forsake us, 00:29:42.68\00:29:45.50 God is not a God of forsaking, 00:29:45.93\00:29:47.34 God is a God of forgiveness, 00:29:47.35\00:29:48.72 do you understand that? 00:29:48.95\00:29:50.23 Do please let your children know that, 00:29:50.24\00:29:52.16 let your children know about this grace. 00:29:53.02\00:29:55.25 Revelation 7 and verse 3, 00:29:57.72\00:30:01.03 notice what the word of God says, 00:30:02.59\00:30:04.44 "Saying, hurt not the earth, 00:30:11.13\00:30:13.69 neither the sea, nor the trees, 00:30:13.70\00:30:18.34 till we have sealed the servants of our God 00:30:18.35\00:30:21.78 in their foreheads." You see, it's they who 00:30:21.79\00:30:30.33 bring the message of hope to a world, 00:30:30.34\00:30:31.88 it's those who are been sealed in their forehead. 00:30:31.89\00:30:35.04 And I mean it's those, remember histories remnant 00:30:35.05\00:30:37.81 do you remeber how God took care 00:30:37.82\00:30:40.77 of them? Jerusalem, 00:34:26.84\00:34:29.84 cry unto her, and her warfare is accomplished, 00:34:29.85\00:34:33.18 that her iniquity is pardoned: 00:34:33.19\00:34:34.94 for she hath received the Lord 00:34:34.95\00:34:37.10 and double for all of her sins." 00:34:37.11\00:34:40.72 Did you know Isaiah named his first born 00:34:43.58\00:34:46.18 Shear-Jashub his son you know, 00:34:46.19\00:34:50.61 what it means? A remnant shall return. 00:34:50.62\00:34:54.57 Even when he named his son, 00:34:54.58\00:34:57.61 he was thinking of the remnant. 00:34:57.62\00:34:59.96 I mean Satan and others have tried 00:34:59.97\00:35:01.74 desperately to destroy the remnant in history. 00:35:01.75\00:35:03.70 I mean the waters of the Red Sea 00:35:03.71\00:35:05.70 could not drown out to remnant. 00:35:05.71\00:35:07.93 The gallows of Haman could not 00:35:07.94\00:35:10.33 hang out the remnant. 00:35:10.34\00:35:11.57 The great fish could not digest the remnant. 00:35:11.58\00:35:14.55 You see because God said, 00:35:14.56\00:35:16.36 I'm with you always. Because I am with thee. 00:36:44.34\00:36:47.80 Why has she survived? 00:36:47.81\00:36:49.08 There is only one explanation, 00:36:49.09\00:36:51.09 not only because she was God created, 00:36:51.10\00:36:53.79 she was God loved, she was God call, 00:36:53.80\00:36:56.33 she was God elected, she was God protected, 00:36:56.34\00:36:59.13 a creation, the first Adam wounded in 00:36:59.14\00:37:01.46 the side that came forth Eve the bride. 00:37:01.47\00:37:03.88 The second Adam of the cross is crucified 00:37:03.89\00:37:06.43 and he's pierced in aside. 00:37:06.44\00:37:08.59 And there comes forth the new Eve 00:37:08.60\00:37:10.03 the church of Jesus Christ. Amen. 00:37:10.04\00:37:13.46 The remnant stands, the pin-headed theologians 00:37:15.52\00:37:20.87 with the Ph.Ds and a ThDs and a DDT's 00:37:20.88\00:37:26.82 cannot changed it. And the scholars 00:37:26.83\00:37:31.62 cannot change it. Nor our enemies; 00:37:31.63\00:37:40.86 they cannot change it, for the remnant stands 00:37:40.87\00:37:47.04 separated from all the powers of this world. 00:37:47.05\00:37:52.82 The seed is crushed by sword and by fire 00:37:52.83\00:37:56.71 and by water beneath, but it rises again. 00:37:56.72\00:38:00.44 There is no, did I in the church 00:38:00.45\00:38:01.54 has been whipped and stoned and robbed 00:38:01.55\00:38:04.47 and raped, and torched, and crucified, 00:38:04.48\00:38:08.30 but she lives on. Amen. 00:38:44.02\00:38:47.79 Little pompous will be careful. Sitting on board, 00:38:47.80\00:38:54.34 exacting his stay on God. 00:38:54.35\00:38:56.41 I build this church, if he did, it's gonna burn, 00:38:56.42\00:39:01.91 but if Christ did it, it's gonna last forever. 00:39:01.92\00:39:04.78 Its time for the church. Amen, amen 00:39:04.79\00:39:09.14 Quit playing cheap politics, for dark is, 00:39:09.95\00:39:14.25 is treacherous is the night before us. 00:39:14.26\00:39:17.40 Trials and tribulations are breaking 00:39:17.41\00:39:20.40 around us, but we do not fear the future say, 00:39:20.41\00:39:25.30 we forget the way that God has let us 00:39:25.31\00:39:27.81 send them past. Amen. 00:39:27.82\00:39:29.44 His glory shines through upon the remnant. 00:39:29.45\00:39:32.79 I was traveling with my grand kids, 00:39:32.80\00:39:35.99 when they were young I was going 00:39:36.00\00:39:37.53 to camp meeting with Daine's children 00:39:37.54\00:39:39.35 where they stay with us in the summer. 00:39:39.36\00:39:41.08 And it was one of those rainy days 00:39:41.09\00:39:43.49 and I was trying to make time 00:39:43.50\00:39:44.57 and quit making time and I, 00:39:44.58\00:39:46.13 I was getting late and I had the 00:39:46.14\00:39:47.67 preach opening night, Friday night and 00:39:47.68\00:39:49.81 come all the way from Florida on our way, 00:39:49.82\00:39:51.52 on our way to, all the way to Maryland 00:39:51.53\00:39:53.01 and or to Virginia and it was gloomy and windy 00:39:53.02\00:39:58.91 and rainy and I knew you were gonna be 00:39:58.92\00:40:00.71 attended you know, how it is. 00:40:00.72\00:40:02.66 I was complaining, I do that. 00:40:02.67\00:40:06.75 And I was complaining to my wife and my wife 00:40:06.76\00:40:11.33 was listening and just as we pulled 00:40:11.34\00:40:16.10 on to the camp, there was a rift in the cloud, 00:40:16.11\00:40:19.40 and the Sun came through on the tent 00:40:19.41\00:40:21.31 and my little Kelsey she was just four years old 00:40:21.32\00:40:23.92 or so she says, Papies, she calls me Papies. 00:40:23.93\00:40:27.20 She says, Papies, look glory, glory. 00:40:27.21\00:40:32.41 That shut me up the rest of the trip. 00:40:32.42\00:40:35.20 Out of the mouths of babes glory shines 00:40:36.51\00:40:42.50 upon his remnant. Amen. Skeptics thought 00:40:42.51\00:40:45.74 about it. I mean mockers scorn it, 00:40:45.75\00:40:48.37 crowds apathy towards it. I mean Pagan's 00:40:48.38\00:40:51.90 blasphemy and execution is sort, devil lies 00:40:51.91\00:40:55.46 have not diminished our hope fromour hearts. 00:40:55.47\00:40:57.82 I have faith in you Jesus says. Amen. 00:40:57.83\00:41:02.40 And I have my sperm, my seed, my remnant. 00:41:02.41\00:41:08.09 World War II broke out, for some of you, 00:41:08.10\00:41:13.20 you were back then, for some you just 00:41:13.21\00:41:15.86 read it in your history books. 00:41:15.87\00:41:17.24 It was a terrible war, every war is. 00:41:17.25\00:41:20.54 And the Nazi forces were slowly taking 00:41:23.11\00:41:28.67 Europe and controlling the conscious of men, 00:41:28.68\00:41:33.59 but the great tragedy was that many of 00:41:33.60\00:41:36.74 the churches surrendered their morals, 00:41:36.75\00:41:44.14 their ethics to the Nazi regime and tried 00:41:44.15\00:41:49.99 to justify and I have to say in some cases 00:41:50.00\00:41:53.92 even Adventist Church is in Europe, 00:41:53.93\00:41:57.10 God forgive us. But there was one man 00:41:57.11\00:42:01.72 by the name of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, 00:42:01.73\00:42:04.39 and he was a minister and he was 00:42:04.40\00:42:09.29 imprisoned for his faith. I mean he, 00:42:09.30\00:42:17.98 he, he, he stood for to, and when they came 00:42:17.99\00:42:19.72 and said, can you run your church and, 00:42:19.73\00:42:22.70 and yet believe in the Nazi philosophies, 00:42:22.71\00:42:27.04 said no I cannot. He said, it's against 00:42:27.05\00:42:30.21 everything we Christians believe. So, 00:42:30.24\00:42:32.85 they threw him in prison. He defied the gas 00:42:32.86\00:42:36.93 and the Gestapo, he said, 00:42:36.94\00:42:39.98 you are my impassible enemy, national socialism 00:42:39.99\00:42:45.66 and its totalitarian demands, told the citizen, 00:42:45.67\00:42:48.37 I will defy it with my last breath, 00:42:48.38\00:42:51.00 took courage. They not only threatened him, 00:42:51.01\00:42:57.55 they tortured him. They arrested his family, 00:42:57.56\00:43:01.16 his fiancee they two were imprisoned. 00:43:01.17\00:43:06.15 In 1944, when his friends made an attempt 00:43:06.16\00:43:11.93 to liberate him and to take him safely abroad, 00:43:11.94\00:43:15.06 he decided to remain in prison in order 00:43:15.07\00:43:18.86 not to endanger others. He said, 00:43:18.87\00:43:22.08 we can get you out. No, I will stay here, 00:43:22.09\00:43:24.64 I do no want to endanger anyone else 00:43:24.65\00:43:27.11 because if I escape they'll take a hundred 00:43:27.12\00:43:31.42 and kill them. The Christians in that prison 00:43:31.43\00:43:38.74 camp were moved by what he has said, 00:43:38.75\00:43:40.73 and what he did? The Catholics and Protestants 00:43:40.74\00:43:43.10 alike with his simple simplicity 00:43:43.11\00:43:46.72 and his great faith. Bonhoeffer was never tried, 00:43:46.73\00:43:53.34 he went stand steadfastly on his way to be 00:43:53.35\00:43:58.46 hanged. And with calmness and dignity as they 00:43:58.47\00:44:04.76 put the rope around his neck, 00:44:04.77\00:44:06.18 he heard the prayer. God, his love for God, 00:44:06.19\00:44:16.82 it was a costly grace and that is the privilege 00:44:16.83\00:44:23.99 of taking the cross for others and of affirming 00:44:24.00\00:44:32.86 his faith in martyrdom. Will we remain 00:44:32.87\00:44:36.92 that steadfast? Will we be that faithful? 00:44:36.93\00:44:42.49 When someone says something to us now 00:44:42.50\00:44:46.02 we're ready to leave the church, 00:44:46.03\00:44:47.75 but we will be faithful even unto death 00:44:47.76\00:44:49.92 if they saw it. Will we be that faithful 00:44:49.93\00:44:54.28 that we will be apart of that remnant, 00:44:54.29\00:44:56.39 that seed and in spite it of all, 00:44:56.40\00:45:02.07 faithful to the very end. That's my prayer 00:45:02.08\00:45:08.06 for you and for me. Amen. 00:45:08.07\00:45:10.10 That we will be faithful as His remnant. 00:45:10.11\00:45:14.18 Father, which art in heaven, 00:45:14.19\00:45:16.09 I thank you for that preach us to be obedient, 00:45:16.10\00:45:22.65 to be strong, to be militant and by our 00:45:22.66\00:45:30.30 faith. And though everyone forsakes us 00:45:30.31\00:45:35.84 we know you will never and though 00:45:35.85\00:45:39.42 they persecute us, we know that you 00:45:39.43\00:45:41.09 will persevere for us. And we know 00:45:41.10\00:45:45.91 that can never take our life because it's hidden 00:45:45.92\00:45:49.72 in you and like a seed buried in the earth 00:45:49.73\00:45:54.10 we will come forth in that glorious resurrection, 00:45:54.11\00:45:59.26 keep us in the name of Christ, amen, amen. 00:45:59.27\00:46:07.57 Remember you leave this place, 00:46:08.61\00:46:09.70 but you never leave the presence of God. 00:46:09.71\00:46:13.45
