story is an outstanding--

to be unbelievable.

When you think of what
the Book of Jonah says,

many skeptics would believe it
if it were not for two verses.

One of the first verses

that they have
problems with is Jonah1:17.

And it simply says,
"Now the Lord had prepared

a great fish to
swallow up Jonah.

And Jonah was in
the belly of the fish

three days and three nights."

People believe
that, that can't happen.

The other verse
in the Book of Jonah

that people have
difficulty accepting

and believing is
Chapter 2 and verse 10,

"And the Lord

and it vomited out
Jonah upon the dry land."

There is no
question that the Bible says

a lot of things
that are difficult

to understand
and even to believe.

But, my friends,

it's important
for us to understand

that if God wrote
it, it must be true.

Listen, I want to tell you this,

there's no question in my mind

that the Bible is
advanced in science.

In fact, it is ahead
of the scientific field.

You may ask the
question, how is that?

One day I was
sitting in a plane,

flying from Oslo, Norway,

and coming back
toward the United States.

And it so happened
that next to me sat a lady

and as we began
to chat together,

I discovered
that she was in charge

apparatuses that are pointing

towards heaven to discover

signals or any life out there.

me that, I said to her,

her the Book of Job

says, "We made a spectacle

unto the universe
and unto the worlds."

Then I said, "You
folks are thinking of

building a space
city, is that true?"

She said, "Yeah."

I said, "You guys
are too late again."

And she said, "What
are you talking about?"

I turned her to
the Book of Revelation

and showed her that God speaks
about a city out in space.

She was quite surprised.

I shared with her many
other scientific points

and when we finally
finished our conversation

we were near landing

and this is what she said to me,

when my brother became one
of these born again things,

he invited me to his church

us around in a circle

and gave us Bibles
and turns to some place

about some bones,
connected to some bones.

And then asked us to
look and give our impressions

as to what we were seeing
concerning to these bones.

And she said, "I sat
there feeling kind of silly,

looking really what bones

and trying to come up
with some impression."

And then I thought to myself,

is that all that the Bible
has to offer, who needs it?

But she said, "When I get home,

one of the first things
I'm doing is getting a Bible."

share some things with you

that help you to understand

how far and advance
the Bible is to science.

In the scriptures,

God speaks about the
Lord doing several things

that He uses simple
language to express.

For example,
the first anesthesia

is recorded in the scriptures.

The Bible simply
says, "And the Lord God

caused a deep
sleep to fall upon Adam."

Now obviously, if you're
going to perform a surgery

what do you have to
do with the patient?

him into a deep sleep.

use the large word, anesthesia.

surgery, don't we today?

performs the first surgery.

or creates the first clone.

they tried to begin
something in that arena

and many people didn't make it.

believe in bloodletting

and our first president got sick

and they thought the problem was

out of him he will get well.

blood out from George Washington

and sped up his death.

Surgery then is
something that is known today

Now how did the devil,

capable of showing Jesus

Now, it also mentions that

city has streets of gold

but it's interesting
that it says transparent gold.

What kind of
gold? Transparent gold.

Now think of it,

for centuries people never knew

people around his area

Because whoever saw
gold used to see-through?

Skeptics and infidels have

scoffed at the scriptures

this, fairytale, they say.

who fly in airplanes

The transparent gold
is in the windshield.

school and studied,

when he finished his
schooling, came back home

and promptly
announced to his Dad,

"Dad, thank you so much

for supporting me through school

and I've learned

I can't believe anything
unless it could be proven

understand it perfectly well.

Well, the old man
said, "Oh, is that true?"

there's a big, big billboard

eyes believes
it, that settles it."

I thought that was a
wonderful, wonderful sign.

But look, what
about the story of Jonah

being swallowed up by a whale?

Is that possible? Can it happen?

Are there fish in the sea

that are big
enough to swallow a man?

The answer is yes.

Let me first begin
in sharing with you

an interesting experience

that took place
in Key West, Florida.

In Key West,
Florida, there was a man

who was fishing off the
shore and snags something.

It was something big,
he didn't know what it was
00:20:07.63\00:20:10.25
but he struggled with
the thing for 39 hours.
00:20:10.28\00:20:16.98
Finally, it was brought in

and that turned out to be a fish

that was 40 feet
long, 45 feet long.

And 15 meters, for those of you

But the story goes like this,
that there were some whalers

that went out to hunt whales
and they came across few whales

out the whale boats.

And one of the particular whales

was harpooned and it died.

The other whale was harpooned

but it did not
die, it submerged.

prophecies so that in the future

that sometimes preachers

difficult places to preach.

Sometimes I've gone to places

where the devil seems to be
fighting against the meetings.

evangelistic
meetings that I held,

it was a tent meeting,
up in a little place called

Ruidoso in New Mexico,

And when I got
there unfortunately

the church was split, the
church only had 10 members

and they were
fighting five against five.

And then of course it was
my first evangelistic meeting

so I was pretty
wet behind the ears

and wasn't used
to the kind of things

that normally happen
in evangelistic meetings.

So it was very hard to preach

hour before the meeting,

go and dust the chairs

Well, as he was inside cleaning,

open air meeting today.

And so the people stayed.

that you go to places

difficult, great challenges.

that have what's
called wind socks.

Now wind socks are
usually used in airports

to tell you how
fast the wind is blowing.

Well, he was so high
that he did not recognize

as he was going
through this open area

that the wind
sock was horizontal

which tells you
that there was strong

gust of wind going through it.

When he entered
into that open area

pushed over sideways.

And when he looked,

Jonah is asleep,

The storm is pushing
the boat back and forth.

The mariners begin to recognize
that this is an unusual storm.

They've been in storms
before but this is unusual.

out of the boat their wares

boat with the hope

that the boat will not sink.

But nothing seems to avail.

the captain asked him
the question, he said,

Pray to your God, and maybe
that the Lord will hear us."

And then he said, "Who are
you and where are you from?"

And Jonah did confess
and said, "I am a Hebrew

and I am fleeting from the Lord.

When you think of those
words, it reminds you of Christ.

This predicted the reality
that the Messiah would die

And the word of the Lord

Jonah was disobedient.

He had decided to
take a different course

to do spear fishing.

school of barracudas

goes on his mission.

Well, Jonah had to
go over that crescent

and finally get to Nineveh.

And as Jonah got to
Nineveh it says that the city

was a big city because
it took about three days

to walk back and forth.

And Jonah decided this
time he was going to be

faithful to what
God had asked him to do.

And he began to
preach his message,

"Ye, 40 days and this
city shall be destroyed."

Now perhaps the
first time he said it,

people didn't take much notice.

But Jonah kept
repeating the same message

Well, there are people who have

heard the message of
the second coming of Christ

and assumed that
because it is repeated

and nothing happens,

that nothing will
actually take place.

listen, the reason

why it is repeated

is because of God's great mercy.

Well, the scripture says that
all in Nineveh began to listen,

all the way up to the king,

from the tramp
of the city way up

to the throne,
people began to take notice

and the news began
to be spread around.

And the king began to
hear that God was going
00:47:11.54\00:47:14.61
to destroy that city.

And the Bible says that
there was a great revival.

In fact my friends,
of all human history

the Bible points to
Nineveh as the place

where there was
a greatest revival
00:47:25.56\00:47:27.45
that has ever been
recorded in human history.

Think of it, Iraq,
the greatest revival,

taking place in Iraq.

God in mercy
spoke to those people

and fortunately
they paid attention.

The word of God says that
there was a great revival,

they put on sackcloth and ashes,

and they repented.

And the scripture says
then that God turned away

from His purpose
and spared the city.

Jonah, of course
the scripture says,

got upset that
God spared the city.

Because since God
had mercy on Jonah,

he forgot that as
God had mercy on him,

God could also
have mercy on others.

And so, he got
upset and God finally

rebuked him for getting upset,

that God is willing
to turn from His wrath

and to give mercy to
people who truly repent

What is the Book of Jonah then?

The Book of Jonah has
many spiritual lessons

but it also is
an act in prophesy.

What Jonah went
through as he went through

the belly of the whale.

It prefigured that
Jesus Christ likewise

would go through that experience

but finally come back out again.

And because of this
prophesy Jesus went through

what had been predicted,

resurrected on the
first day of the week.

telling us that you and I
